How to host a Polka Dot Party!!!
Many of you know that I love to throw parties. My husband & I are always entertaining, especially during the summer. Entertaining makes me happy!! And you know what else makes me happy?? POLKA DOTS!!! Polka Dots have been a staple in fashion for a long time. I first think of Minnie Mouse wearing polka dots way back when she was introduced in 1928!
Polka dots are fun & feminine, and make most people smile when they see them. So that got me thinking—why not host a girl’s day party, and have the theme be POLKA DOTS!!!
So to plan the party, I of course began with some of my fabulous friends. Set the date, asked them to wear their favorite polka dot clothes, and then I began step two—the decorations!!
I was able to find some beautiful polka dot table cloths, plates & napkins on Amazon and at a local party store. I wanted the decorations to be fun & flirty!!
Next it was on to the recipes!!! Everyone loves good food when they attend a party—so I decided to pay homage to Jeanne Bice & use her shrimp salad recipe, I also made a homemade chicken salad. When I have the girls over, I love to serve a beautiful mixed green salad—it looks so pretty on the table.
And of course I cannot forget the cocktail—for this party, I chose a beautiful Pimm’s Cup (or cocktail, Patrick introduced me to this lovely drink last summer). If serving a cocktail is not what you like to do, how about a beautiful lemonade, or flavored water. For dessert, I went simple, some lovely Madeline’s and some Lemon Cakes. YUM, YUM!!
Here are the recipes for the party:
Pimm’s Cocktail:
1 part Pimm’s
2 parts Sprite or 7-up soda
Add to the pitcher– sliced, strawberries, oranges, cucumber & sprigs of mint. I used blood oranges & mint for garnish.

For the mixed greens salad, I simply used mixed greens, sliced cucumber, and some grape tomatoes. I dressed the salad with some Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar & salt & pepper.
For dessert, I added some sliced fruit in addition to the Madeline’s & the Lemon Cakes.

Now all I needed was for my guests to arrive & enjoy.
