Okay Adele-how about Arizona instead of Florida.
We don’t get Steve Harvey or Harry Connick. I have seen parts of the show with the kids though. The kids are funny!
Colleen, I’ll bet you could find a shabby chic table or one with distressed wood to go with the spice cabinet. I would look around online.
DD love the turtle chef! lol How did they get that tiny hat on him. It’s so cute! -
April Fool’s-There’s more but I have to post them in three sections because if I try to post more than two pictures the submit button disappears. This is crazy. What is going on?
-
Again.
-
It was only letting me post two pictures at a time and now it won’t let me post the last two together. What is going on????? Is it me or the site? Grrrrrrrrr!!!
-
It won’t let me post this last picture. As soon as I select it the submit button disappears and it was my favorite. It was a fireplace mantel decorated in a butterfly theme for Easter. So I don’t know what the heck is going on. it has been frustrating!
-
OMG Gail….you for got a pic of tulips showing up through the snow, for me and Sue….LOL
Love the bunny bread with the belly dip.Colleen
I have been on a roll with the last 2 wins for the crock pot. At least I finally found a chicken one. This beef one is titled ” slow cooker beef bourguignon” from The Recipe Critic site.
You will love it, if you make it.
It is miserable here. We had snow, then late last night it went to sleet, then rain in early morning, and it has been snowing like crazy for hours. It looks like a blizzard out there, with the snow coming down in buckets, and sideways. Sue is a little south of me, and she usually gets the storms before us. I think they are not as bad when she gets them, but I am not sure, as by the time they get up here, they usually combine with one coming from the west too.
I hope you are enjoying your new spice cabinet. Ron is lucky he got you something nice, so he is out of the dog house for now….LOL
I hope your Mom stays for a couple of days over Easter. that would be so nice for you.DD
Love those pics of your new appliances. Est of luck with them- happy cooking!Sue
I hope you did not get the mess we are getting. I am saying a prayer for you every night, that your surgery goes well, and your recovery easy.Barbara
Hope you have had some fun with skypeing your cutie Colin.I hope all you ladies are having a good start to the weekend, and your weather is much better than ours. Every time we see a commercial for Lowes ig yard sale this weekend, we laugh our butts off.

No snow here this time just a lot of rain and wind. It has been so dark I wonder where the sun is.
-
Hey sue
It is still snowing. Also weird, as it is sticking on the grass, and deck, but, not on the road or driveway. I am glad about that, though! It will turn to ice tonight, they are saying. Hope your does not urn to ice.
Adele -
Here ya go Adele.
-
Hi Gail,
Love the pictures that you are posting. It is weird that they are only posting one or two at a time. Hopefully it will be better later and you won’t have to post so many at different times.
We have a few places that we can go to and look for the bottom half of the spice cabinet. If I can get someone over here to post the picture of the cabinet on here I will do it. Maybe not the sideways one though.lol Still have not put all the stuff in there yet.
We finally had some sunshine today. How about you. Hope that the sun will stay out and no more rain. I am so sick of rain.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
This is a mess with all the snow. Maybe it will go away after tomorrow and you will see the sun. We finally did here and it was so nice. That flu is still going around here. I will be so glad when flu season is over. That is a mess that it is like a blizzard. Hope that it does not stick to the roads and cause a lot of wrecks.
The spice cabinet is so nice. We still have to fill it and find something to set it on. Think we will do like Gail suggested and look on the internet and see if we can find something. I am surprised that they did not have anything at the place where he bought the top half. It is so pretty. I like the glass doors.
I will look for that recipe on that site and see if Ron will like it. I found a recipe for pork tenderloin with a djon mustard rub and sauce to put on it. I am thinking of doing both the ham and the pork for Easter. It will be something different. Since the kids are so crazy about sauces they should like this.lol
I wish that mom would stay longer then she is going to. She is just afraid to be away from her doctor. I guess with the problems that she has been having it would be scary to be that far from him
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Colleen, Q2 is just QVC plus with a different name. It is on the same channel 255 on Dish.
-
Hey colleen!
The snow stopped, and the sun came out. I am blinded by the all the light….LOL
The snow stayed on the grass, and we did have slush on the driveway. Bobby got it off. Today is int he 50’s, so it should all melt. I hope this was the last of it.
That spice cabinet sounds very pretty. Take a pic for us.
So,this morning, I hear my neighbor’s dog going nuts in the yard- I cannot see anything up on the mountain. I still heard him in the house, barking, and that is very unusual. Hours later, there are turkeys on top of our mountain, and then they marched down to my neighbor’s yard to torture their dog. They just walked around, one got on top of his shed, and then, they left. That poor dog was having a heart attack. I was finishing up my shower, so I did not see them- Bobby and Gary did. I told bobby to take a pic, but, not sure he did.
I found that so funny.
Hope your day has something to smile about.
I got an email from “taste of home” with some great Easter brunch recipes. You should google them.
I hope your Mom changes her mind. It owuld be so nice for you to have a couple of days together.
Adele -
Hey Gailster…..LOL LOL There are not even hints of any spring flowers up here yet. It is depressing!
The only ones I see are the ones you posted….LOL
Adele -
Happy Sunday to All, I know I have missed so much of what is going on in everyone’s life; since I haven’t been able to be on in a while. Hope all is well. I did hear of that snow storm up your and Sue’s way, Adele; so praying that will be over soon. We on the other hand are expecting storms coming our way from Texas later this evening. I am SO afraid of them; and Jerry and I had finally carved us out a little piece of free time for us this evening; and I just won’t go. I get so nervous when they are talking tornadoes, and strong storms, and I had just rather stay home. Jerry told me a while ago that he was looking forward to us just going out to dinner or something, and it makes me feel so bad to let the “possability” of a bad storm keep us in; but I will. Is it coming your way Colleen? Hope not. Bet all the grands are looking forward to Easter. I am missing the “large” group that usually attends; and I haven’t even had the chance to ask Joey if he works that night yet. But I did arrange for a Honey Baked ham and sides and dessert to be sent to the kids in Calif. so I know they will feel a little more at home. We are missing everyone.
I bet you love your new appliances DD. It just makes me feel good to have a new toy. We have a side by side refrig. but when they built our house; I didn’t have sense enough to have the doors open right; so they both hit my bay window ledge and we have to be careful. It is one of those frustrating things that you only realize after the thing is installed; and since I have an island right smack in the center of the kitchen area; it was SO hard to put the refrig. in. Live and learn I guess. I agree though; having the ice and water on the front of the freezer door is so convenient. I have a bottom loading freezer on it that slides out; and love that feature. It is about 15 years old now; so I better quit or something will go wrong with it and I will be off to Lowe’s. I am in the market for a new washer. What is you all’s favorite brand? I am looking for a top loader.
We have been so busy at Jerrys Moms home with my BIL and SIL. They have been doing an inventory of things, and I think that his brother has, after talking to Maw Maw, decided to not do an estate sale because of the neighborhood she lived in, and try to sell it after moving her belongings to a storage rental building. That way; no one can say that he or we are just taking her belongings for our own personal use. So sad. She has made some beautiful afgans; so I took a pretty one out to her “new home” and put it on her bed. She really didn’t remember much about it. Her memory comes and goes. Sometimes she is so clear; and other times, not so.
Sue, how old is Cuddles now? Is she getting the little grey and white whiskers around her mouth yet? You know our Oz lived to be 19. I used to watch him lying in the soft grass all belly up warming his tummy to the sun; and I would think to myself; he loves his life. He actually caught a rabbit once; and just lay there by it; as if to say, what do I do with this now? He was more of a lounger than a hunter LOL
You all take care and hope if you are getting the frozen stuff; it goes away soon. I better check on Mr. Jerry, he is being entirely too quiet. Barbara -
Hi Barbara!
I hope you do have more of a crowd for Easter. You never know who could come by- maybe Jerry’s brother and wife?
I am saying a prayer the storms do not come your way. I heard about them on the news tonight.
the sun was shining here all day. It sure was strange to see so much light out there.Sue- what kind of kitty is Cuddles? I do miss my cats. But, I would have trouble when they walk around your legs, as I am not very stable. I guess i just get to enjoy the stories you all have of your pets. I do have my one, lonely fish….LOL
Hope everyone is good tonight!
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
uh oh, it seems I gave the wrong impression somewhere along the way. The new appliances aren’t mine personally. I didn’t buy em. My landlord did. But I’m delighted all the same!! I hope I didn’t give the wrong impression.
I find it interesting that different parts of the country don’t show the same shows. We have Harry Connick at 2pm, but we don’t have Steve Harvey, that I’m aware of. We get WGN out of Chicago on Comcast cable.
The weather was nice here today. And we just might hit the 70 degree mark midweek. Then the rain comes back.. sigh!! At least it isn’t snow. I can’t believe your still getting snow this late in the yr, Adele. Does it happen every yr?
Well, I don’t have anything else so I’ll go for now.
Have a great week!!!
dd -
Hi Barbara,
Hope that when you found Jerry he was behaving himself. It is dangerous for Ron to be by himself also. He had some guy call him today to let him know that he has a lawn mower for sale. So I guess he is going over there tomorrow to look at it. Just what we need.lol
The storms are supposed to come our way tonight. So far they have not started. Hope to get done on here before they do. I do not like storms either. I cannot sleep at night if they are really bad. Ron just rolls over on his good ear and falls sound asleep. Wish I had that option. It has been a pretty day today. We sat outside on the deck for a long time and then came back in. Hope that it is nice like this again this week. Not looking to promising for tomorrow.
The grands are all looking forward to Easter. We still have to get the candy and all the stuff we need. We are making a ham and a tenderloin with mustard sauce. You make the sauce and half of it goes on the meat before you cook it and then the rest goes on the meat when it is done. Wanted to try something different this year. We have ham every year and it is time to change to something else. That was nice that you had the meal sent to your son in California. They will really like that. This year all the kids will be here but not sure about next year.
That was nice to bring her that afghan. She will enjoy having it on her bed even if she does not remember that much about it. She will know that it came from home and that will make her feel more at home where she is. That is a good idea to sell her things from the storage building. It is a shame that someone would think that you were taking things out of the house. You, Jerry and your sil and bil are the ones doing all the work and taking care of Jerry’s mom. It is a hard thing to do but it has to be done.
Well that is about all from here. Be safe in all these storms.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I can see where the sun would be blinding. You have had clouds for so long it is going to be hard to get use to the sun. We are getting more storms and we have had a lot of clouds here. Today for a little while we did have sunshine. It was nice to see the sun for a little while. We are supposed to have storms tonight and tomorrow.
That is funny about the dogs and the turkeys. I bet they tortured the dog for awhile. They are brave when they know that the dog cannot get to them. Do they ever come into your yard? Turkeys are really kind of ugly to taste as good as they do.lol
I will have to check that site out. I use to get that magazine but it was the one for diabetics. It had some good recipes in that one also. I love to try new recipes once in awhile. I have been doing more of it lately. I think that you have inspired me.
So do you have a bunch coming over for Easter? We use to have friends that would come up and eat dinner with us but now they go into the city. They know that they are always welcome here when ever they want to come.
Not much else going on today. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I did not think that you bought the appliances for the apartment. Do not think that you gave that impression. You will have to experiment on them to see how well they are going to work out. They sure are nice and should last a long time.
We also get WGN here. That is strange that you can get it way up where you are. We are just the next state over is why we get it. We do not get that many channels from other states. Local channels that is. WGN will carry a lot of the Cubs baseball games. They played the cardinals tonight and lost. Hope that our Cardinals do really good this year.
We were in the upper sixties today and could sit out on the deck for awhile. It was really nice to get out of the house and just sit on the swing. We did have sunshine here for awhile but now the rain is moving in again. Maybe you will get a break from the rain for awhile.
well that is about all from here. Thank you for posting the cheerful pictures we need them right now.
Colleen -
Hi DD!
No, no, we knew it was form your landlord. It is still fabulous for you. My daughter and granddaughter live in an apartment complex in Town, and they are thrilled when the landlord does a kitchen up-grade. In my granddaughter’s building, they are starting to do the kitchens over, and she is dying for them to get around to her apartment. It is great when they take care of their properties, and keep it nice for everyone.
We have Comcast over here. I am amazed they do not run Steve Harvey over there. he is on at 10:00 am Monday to Friday. Call them, and ask for his show. he is so funny, and it is nice to start the day with some humor. He always has a segment on dating. he picks these awful controlling women, and sends them out on a date. The poor men look like a deer in the headlights. Then, he goes over what they said and did, and I tell you, it is hysterical. You cannot believe what people do. He tries to help women make good choices, and realize what a o good choice in a man is. He has his wife, MArjorie on every once in a while too, and sometimes his daughter and her hubby. You would love him.
How is your pretty kitty doing? How are your neighbors? Are you all eating together on Easter?
This is not normal for this time of year, to continue to have snow storms. There have been April Fool storms, but not many of them. Twenty years ago, there was a huge one. Over the past years, it seems we have been going from winter to summer, with no spring- from the heat on, to the air on. Not fun, as I love the nice spring air, without the humidity. Do you get gross humidity on your side of the country?
Hope your day is goign well. The sun is shining and we are getting a rain storm tomorrow.
Todays menu on this sid eof the country is lentil soup, with sausage in it- a new recipe.
Adele -
Hi Colleen!
Please read my post to DD, as I have all the up-dated news in that one….LOL
I think we are doing lunch/dinner for Easter. But, those brunch recipes looked so good!! I could never get this crew up early enough for a brunch.
Do you believe we are having another storm tomorrow?? And one on Thursday too. These will be roan, so that is better.
I am grounded, as Gary’s van is having issues, and he is using my Jeep. We have to figure out if it is worth it to fix the van, as it is old, and we just put a lot of money into it a couple of months ago. Gary is taking it to the mechanic later today, to see what the estimate would be. The van is just not worth all the money we keep dumping into it at this point.
Hope your day is goign well!
Adele -
Hi All,
Colleen, it would be nice to see a picture of the spice cabinet. Then all of us can be on the lookout for a table to set it on and give you ideas. We could kind of pretend we are shopping together. Or maybe you’d rather not have us along. lol
I hope your Cardinals do good too-only not too good. lol There is definitely a Cubs- Cardinals rivalry. Greg is hoping tp someday see a Cubs/Sox World Series. (not the Red Sox-Adele) In this area of the country when you say the Sox we mean the White Sox. lol
Adele, what mountain are you referring too? And how close is it to your house. We have so many wild turkey’s around our house that our dogs kind of got used to them. They’d look out the window and kind of shrug their shoulders and go “oh it’s just them again” not worth getting all worked up about it. I sure miss our dogs. Nor sure when or if i will feel ready for another but i miss them all the time.
I love Taste of Home-have subscribed for years. Most of the recipes that i try are from there. Love their Give Me Five or Fewer section. I will have to check for the brunch ideas.
Barbara, I hope that the storms missed you. I saw there was bad storms in Alexandria, Louisiana yesterday which is where my parents lived.
I think I would like to get a bottom freezer again when we need another refrigerator. I can’t help you on the washing machine brand as i have a front loader which i love!!! The top loaders are too difficult to get the things out of the bottom. I always said when I had the top loader someday someone would find me inside there on my head with my legs sticking straight up in the air after I fell in trying to get the clothes that were on the bottom. lol Being short and fat has it’s own set of problems.
My MIL left me lots of afgans that she made. They are so nice to cozy up with.
DD, I’m with everyone else. I knew it was the landlord that supplied the appliances. I’m just happy that you got them.
I’m sorry about the Ducks-they came really close. At least they made it to the final four which is a big accomplishment.
We were out looking at carpets and kitchens on Saturday. Got lots of ideas and also talked to a place that does the dustless floor refinishing which is now something new to think about. Anyway, on the way home i wanted to stop at this Kirkland store and look for something and Greg went in with me. He’s like a bull in a China shop as you can tell he has absolutely no interest in this stuff but he was a good sport about it. Fortunately I wasn’t in there for very long-but things have to go both ways. some times he takes me to Dick’s sporting goods or the Golf Shack so turnabout is fair play. lol He did cook dinner and make the smoke alarm go off Saturday night. I knew I should have made him take me out. lol
Gail -
The storms did come last night and some not quite so harsh this morning, and we made it through them. Glad to see you all did too, Colleen. I was so happy that I didn’t listen to Jerry telling me we would be fine; even if a “thunderstorm” came while we were out yesterday evening. That storm was bad yesterday, and with lots of rain and lightening. I would have been a nervous wreck out in all that. I am hoping we get a chance to make a night out sometime this week. We both need it. Seems to clear our head and help us think of “the list” of things we need to do. I know it has to sound terrible for me to say this; but there is SO much for us to get done with Jerrys Mom all the time that I just feel overwhelmed.
I have a front loader washer too Gail, by Kitchenaide, and we have had such problems with that terrible smell unless I clean under the rim everytime I run a load, and then I have to do the tablets made for front loaders at least once a month. I got a notice from the company that someone had I guess filed a lawsuit on them and I could either choose a $200 coupon for a new washer or if I could show receipts of having someone come to serive the washer for mold, or any smell problems; they would replace the machine with a brand new washer. Of course; we have had someone look at the machine, and he told me how to clean it after each wash and that what I have been doing. It has been a real pain for me. I love the concept, and I can surely understand how if you have “vertically challenged” the front loader would help so much. I am 5 ft 7 in. so I can reach into a washer; but my problem is bending down so far to reach my dry clothes. LOL Always something, isn’t it?
I was just glancing at the Q, and Lori Goldstein has this top for almost $70. That is just so way beyond my budget for a tee shirt, but she must sell a lot; because she is on there a lot. And the “I am OBSESSED with this” which I know she should be proud of her work, but I am getting grouchy I guess and starting to pick apart what the designer is saying. I am really proud for anyone who is able to afford those prices, but they are out of my range.Mabey my problem is that I am NOT a size XXS. ha ha
Hope everyone has a good evening. You know Colleen, I hope you are right that I did the right thing by sending Easter dinner to California, and doesn’t hurt my DIL’s feelings. I can seem to mess up even when I don’t mean too. Barbara -
Hey Barbara
I am so glad you missed the worst of the storms, and you have no damage. they seem to be getting worst and worst. How can anyone say global warming is a hoax?
You do need a date night. It makes you feel special, and gives you a nice break from cooking too. Everyone needs a night out, whether single or married.
I have a front loader too. We wipe off the rim after every load, and always leave the door open. We also do the once a month clean thing. Mine is an LG. So is my fridge. The fridge has the bottom drawer, and I love that too. I am really loving the LG products.
I think it was nice for you to send them the Easter care package. They should love it. You are a wonderful Mom, Nana, and MIL. they are lucky to have you.
We are getting a nasty rain storm tomorrow. yuck.
Adele -
Hey Gail!
My mountain is the cliff in our back yard- it is as high as the house. there are 4 of us on the street that have the cliff, and we all own a piece of it. The next street over does to- our properties join in the middle of the cliff. I love it, as it makes the backyard completely private. We also get a tax break for “non usable land”.
Hey…the Sox are our Sox….LOL They won their first game today. So, they had Tom Brady and the Gronk at the opener, and they were chasing each other around the field, with Brady’s shirt. One of them threw out the first pitch today. Of course, it was all over our news up here. Sorry your Sox lost.Who was Sue rooting for- I forgot????
I hope you find all the right things for your new kitchen. It can be so stressful to get everything to match right.
Hope you are all having a good night….I have to go make the bed- changed the sheets today.
Have a good night, girls!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
It happens sometimes here with the snow late in the spring. We are supposed to see snow flurries over the week-end they said. They usually are not right about the snow but they always get it right for the rain. So I am not looking for the snow to come. They are going to be wrong again like normal. Hope that they are wrong about the snow storms at your house.
We usually eat about 2pm for Easter. My youngest daughter usually has to drive all the way home that night. They have to so the kids will get up for school the next morning. They should give them the Monday off after Easter. They should know that any of these guys that can go home for the holiday will. I will be so glad to have them all here and to see Aliza hunt the Easter eggs. This will be her first year so it will be fun to watch.
Don’t you feel trapped in the house when you do not have a car available? I know that I do even if there is no place to go. Ron was taking my jeep for awhile when his truck was not working right. It was nice when he figured it out and fixed it. He is good at fixing the older cars but the ones with the computers he is lost.
I have never seen Steve Harvey’s show. I was not happy that he took over Family Fued. I guess that I spelt it right. Can you believe that my spell checker did not even have the spelling on there. I have like almost all of the hosts on there but him. I do not know why it bothers me so much when he took over. I guess that the show went in a different direction.
Well that is about all from here have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
I think over Easter week-end someone will know how to take the picture and put it on here. At least I hope they will. I am getting so disgusted that I will never learn how to do this stuff.
We were kind of upset with the announcers on the game last night. They did not say anything about the Cubs being the world champions. We thought that they would. They always have a good opening night for the Cards. It is so neat when they bring out the Clydesdales. They are such a pretty horse. We go to Grants Farm and you can see them there. You can have your picture taken with them.
Your dogs are like ours. They are so use to seeing all those things around here that it is not a big shock when they come into the yard. Snoopy just barks at them just for fun. If they act like they are going to come anywhere near him he runs. I do not know why. He is going to be our little coward.lol He may grow out of that I am sure.
Ron would be like Greg if I took him into a shop like that. Now if we go into a hardware store he spends a lot of time in there. So I usually bring a book or something to read if he goes into a place like that and sit in the Jeep until he is done. I can only shop in there for a short amount of time. There are only so many tools that you can look at. lol It is better if he goes into Rural King or Menards they have a lot of different things in there.
That would be so nice if you could get the people that leave not dust to do the floor. That would make it so nice. Hope that you find all that you want for your floors. We are looking for heavier drapes to put up in the living room. The sun comes right thru the front window and it is really hot in the summer. It will probably keep the room warmer in the winter also.
It would be nice to go shopping with all of you. Even if we are in different places. Any help that I can get would be great. This is going to be a job to find this thing.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
Hooooooooooray!!! Charo got the boot tonight!! I cheated, I Googled it. I’m sorry if I ruined it for anyone. I’m sure it’ll be all over the news tomorrow.
I just can’t get into it this season. Some yrs are just like that. I get bored with some of these shows. I don’t watch the Bachelor, Bachelorette, or any of those “reality” shows. In my view there’s nothing real about em!! I remember when they were called game shows or something to that affect. In got a post
on my FB page that said she was ready to walk out cuz she didn’t like Bruno’s criticizing her. Poor baby. That’s what the judges DO!!!Jewell got her hair cut today, & they didn’t do as good a job as usual. Her mane was uneven. She’s sitting next to me on the sofa arm, in front of the heater. It was nice today, but it was coooold last night, & again tonight. It’s too early for planting so hopefully no one has planted anything yet. Planting usually starts in May. The last threat of frost is after Mother’s Day.
Adele, we don’t have the horrible humidity out here that you guys have. If it gets above 50% we think we’re dying. Usually when we have high humidity is when it’s pouring down rain, & is cool. The hotter it gets the lower the humidity. It isn’t like a desert heat tho. I figured out that the border line between us & the high humidity is the Rocky Mts. East of them has the horrible humidity. West not so much. I know I whine about the weather, but we don’t have the humidity.
We are VERY PROUD of our Ducks!!! It was a heart breaker to lose by one point. Those hurt more than a blow out. If they’d made more of those baskets they missed they would’ve won. Hind sight is 20/20. there’s always next yr.

Hi Barbara,
The storms that we had were not as bad as what you had. We had rain again today and it was just rain. We are supposed to have more rain over the week-end with some snow flurries. I think that they will be wrong about the snow flurries they usually are.
My washing is a front loader also. I had one that was an top load but did not like it for the same reason Gail didn’t. My arms are not long enough to reach to the bottom and get the clothes out. Have not had the problem that you have had with your front loader. I wonder what causes it. You would think that they would want to replace it so they would not get bad reviews.
There is no way that I would spend $70.00 on a t shirt either. I do get upset with some of the vendors on there sometimes. Susan Graver really upset me when she was going on about how you do not need sparkle all the time. The way she said it made me think that she was making a crack about Quacker. It seems like she puts a lot of beads and sparkle on her tops also. Not on everything but a lot of things. I will stop now. That is terrible to talk about a vendor like that. She is just trying to sell her clothes. She still aggravates me though.
You did do the right thing. They are still settling in and it will be nice not to have to worry about fixing a meal for Easter. She can add some of her own dishes to the meal you sent if she wants to. If she doesn’t appreciate it she should. Your son will he knows that your heart is in the right place. So do not worry about it. You don’t know she may be really happy that you sent it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I was so happy to see that she got voted off the show tonight. She finally was acting right tonight and her partner only had to hold her back once. It was good that he showed her the tape of how she was acting. She said that she was embarrassed as well she should have been. She did dance better tonight then she has in the other two shows.
I love the picture of the kitten inside the shoe. He looks very comfortable. The pictures are really cute but they always are. You are good at finding them and posting them.
There are a few people that I like on DWTS this time around. It will be a little better since Charo had gone. Nancy Kerrington does a really good job and so does the other Olympian. I probably should have just usd Nancy’s first name. Think that I spelled her last name wrong. I think that the dancer that is on there is pretty good also. I guess that it is hard for her to learn ball room dancing after dancing a lot differently. It was nice to see Max there tonight and walking better. He and Peta make a cute couple.
It would be so nice if our humidity was lower. That is what kills you over the summer. It gets so high that you can hardly stand it. That is when we stay inside. It is good to have air conditioning. It is funny how different our weather is from yours. All of us have different weather from each other.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Barbara,
It does feel overwhelming to go through a person’s household. Just take it one day at a time and remember that you are doing a good thing for someone who can no longer do it for themselves. If you don’t mind me asking how old is Jerry’s Mom getting to be? Gosh that makes me think if my Mom were still alive she would have been 100 in January and Dad would have been 98 in October. Unfortunately neither of them made it even close to those figures.
I think I also have an LG like Adele. I don’t have a problem with mold or mildew either. I leave it open all the time and run a bleach wash on occasion and it seems to be fine. I love the machine and don’t think it’s nearly as hard on clothes as an agitator. I think colors stay brighter longer too. Of course you can get a stand for certain dryers too-just like for the washers-it’s an added expense but well worth it for the convenience as we age.
I hope that your Easter dinner is accepted in the spirit with which it was given-with love and in an effort to be helpful.

Hi DD,
We always say here it’s safe to plant after Greg’s birthday which is May 9th-which is usually right around Mother’s Day. However, Greg did put some of the plants that he had started outside in this greenhouse box that he built when it was nice last week. Last night he had to bring them back in though because we might get some snow tomorrow night. One year I do remember we got a pretty big snowfall on April 15th.
You are lucky to have lower humidity-that makes a big difference. Have you ever traveled in the south-like to Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama in the summer? Now that’s some serious humidity-I swear the air is hard to breathe because it feels so heavy.
I’m glad that Charo got the boot. I guess most of America thought the same as we all did. I hope next season they give Keo a better partner.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Isn’t it funny that you and Adele both have Jeeps. Remember when jeeps were only army vehicles? I wonder if your cars are the same color. You could have a Jeep parade. lol
You will learn how to post pictures eventually. This site unfortunately won’t accept pictures from my camera-and I always forget how to get them from my phone to the computer plus I don’t know where the cord to do it with is-so then I end up asking Greg to do it for me. lol
I am not surprised at all that the Cardinals announcers did not mention that the Cubs were the World Champs. After all they are rivals.
I read somewhere that David Venable is going to be on Rachel Ray’s show tomorrow if anyone is interested.
We went to see the Clydesdales when we are on a trip to Saint Louis many years ago. They are beautiful. I always liked the Budweiser commercials with the Clydesdales.
I love that your dog’s name is Snoopy-it just gives me such a cute picture in my head.
Greg does love going to Menards too. If he is looking at something boring i will go look at the home decor stuff or something.
Last week was my lucky week. I won a free digital book from Goodreads and a free hard cover book from Bookreporter.com. I love getting those surprise e-mails.

Hi Adele,
It is nice to have the “mountain” for the privacy. It makes you wonder why they did not grade that all down when they developed the neighborhood. That’s interesting.
They are not my Sox-they are Greg’s Sox as he is from the south side of Chicago. My team and the kid’s team is the Cubs. Greg is all alone in this household when it comes to baseball. lol Isn’t it weird how and where they found Brady’s shirt. You wonder how the guy got it anyway.
Yes we are just going around to places and trying to get ideas of the look that we want for the kitchen. We found that’s it’s better to take a long time to do research to get exactly what you want. We looked at things for two years before we were ready to build as we wanted to get as much right as we could the first time. it’s too bad the housing market is tanked and there are no more Parades of Homes or model homes to go through. That’s where we got lots of ideas before we built. It was fun doing the research.
We are supposed to get more rain although right now the sun is peeking out.
I am waiting for the delivery of my chair and ottoman today. Jenny and Adam have to come and pick up the old chair and ottoman sometime this weekend. I’m glad that they can use it.
Gail -
Hey Gail
i do a lot of research in the home magazines, HGTV, and on the internet, due to my walking issues. Then, once I am close to a decision, i get to the store. It is a lot more fun seeing things in person, I have to say. I hope you find what you want. What are you thinking of/leaning toward?
The mountain is great for privacy, and we all like it. So do the animals. I have seen bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, pheasants, coyote, one fox, and the hawk. My next door neighbor gets some deer.
I hope your chair and ottoman arrived safely. Tomorrow Macy’s is returning to exchange the base file cabinet I got for Gary. The bookcase top is fine, The base was not put together right- it has gaps. Seriously- nobody does good work anymore, and it was not cheap.
Well, Gary just came out for a dish of ice cream…….still raining out here!
Adele -
P S….I love my Jeep, and woudl not drive anything else….LOL
Adele -
Humidity is the bain of our existence during the summer months down South. You start to drip from the moment you walk outside; and it is such a shame because we LOVE to go out. I am like you, Colleen, just enjoy sitting on our glider on the patio with the puppies all curled up asleep and enjoying the sounds and smells of nature. We have a honeysuckle bush across one of the fences that lead out to the barn and you can smell it even though it is quite a distance from our house. I used to love to watch the kids when they were growing up out at the barn, playing with the pony or Cody our big horse. Such good memories. We always had a barn cat because the horses love to have a little “pet” of their own to keep them company. I would walk out and find the kitty just lying up on their back snoozing away. We also had our chicken coop behind the barn; and we had to cover the whole thing with wire to keep the bad critters from getting in the fence and hurting our chickens. I was always afraid for the boys to reach in the nests to gather eggs; but that was one of their favorite chores that they did with Paw Paw. I miss him so much. Our boys just adored him. He always found something so good to say about them; especially if they might be in a little trouble from a disapointing grade or something. Such a good man.
Gail, Jerrys’ Mom is 90. We had a big birthday party for her here at our house, and then did the cake and balloons and little hats out at assisted living so the residents and staff could be a part of it too. My Mom would have been 100 this past August. She lived to be 93. Our Dad passed away at 70. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in May and passed away 4 months later. He was healthy most of his life and took such good care of MaMa.
DD. love the kitty in the shoe. It surprizes me to see what a little box or sack that our Auto Kitty can wedge himself in to. LOL He is so much company to us. Does your kitty have different sounds he makes according to what he wants you to do; or is talking to you? Our kitty does not meow; and I thought all kitties did; but the vet said no, they all have their own personalities and “voice” If we put a treat down for him at night (he will take his paw and touch my husband on the arm if he is wanting a treat), and it is not to his liking, he will keep touching my husband with his paw as if to say, you put down the wrong thing, try again. ha ha Did I say, like all our furry friend, he is a “little” spoiled.
You know, I am glad that Charro was let go last night; but I feel embarassed and sorry for older ladies who try to pretend they have not aged or changed when it’s obvious they have. It sort of makes me cringe. One of our neighbors, who is mabey 5 or so years younger than me; so that sure means she is no spring chicken, attended a neighborhood watch cookout last summer in short shorts, and a really low top. She is not as big as me; but not small, and it was just so sad to see her and hear her trying to act so much younger and prettier than the rest of us. I had on my Quacker nautical 3/4 sleeve top with an embroidered anchor on it in red and some white dreamjeanne capri’s. I was so comfortable, but I would have been mortified to be in shorts, but then everything I have is going south quickly. ha ha
Thank you for your kind words Gail and to all for helping me feel better about having to go through MawMaw’s things. She really is not able to do these things herself anymore, and since we have no help but the one BIl and SIL and they are absolute angels. I don’t know how we would have been able to maintain our sanity without them.
Gail, I know you miss Rocky so much. They hold a forever place in our hearts, don’t they? He was so lucky to have such good human “parents” who loved and cared for him so much. Bet he and Oz are having lots of fun now. Adele, what is your fishes name? Is he in an aquarium or bowl?
Adele, do you use cake flour or plain King Arthurs flour for your baking? I find that using cake flour does make my cakes lighter; not quite as dense; but sometimes I use regular instead, and no one seems to notice any difference. Jerry actually out of the blue up and asks me the other night if I could make some of those Rice Krispy things I make years ago for the boys? I had to laugh. They Joey stops by and sees me making some for his Dad and said, wow, is there enough for me to take some home, Dad? The recipe makes it easy to form Easter bunnies and eggs out of at Easter time with the children. Haven’t thought about that in years.
Better go for now. By the way, Gail, we had to stop reading at night for awhile, I said had to, we didn’t but we were both falling asleep right in the middle of a sentence LOL, but we have begun a new book and for the life of me, I cannot even remember the name; so I will try to tell you next visit. ha ha
Have a good evening, everyone, and take care. Barbara -
Het Barbara!
OMG….what is going on down there??? No more bedtime stories?? I always had these visions of the two of you snuggled up, and reading when it is cold outside.
Did I tell you the funny book I recently read? “Outwitting Squirrels”. I tell you, I read some paragraphs to Gary, and I nearly bust a gut. It is supposed to be a book on getting the best bird feeders to feed them and not the squirrels. It is really a fun read.
I gave up years ago doing the cake flour thing. I just whisk up the King Arthur flour, (I do it with my wire whisk, instead of the annoying sifter) and I find it makes little difference to warrant another container aorund the kitchen. Hey- we bakers make our own rules.
It is funny how the kids have a hankering for something form their childhood, every once in a while. I never did the rice krispy treats, as my daughter and her girlfriends loved to make then as a thing they did together, at all of our houses…LOL
I have to tell you a funny. Yesterday, i tried a different lentil soup recipe. No matter what I added, it just did not have enough flavor. Only one person liked it. Can you guess who? THE HUSBAND, of course….LOL We were all hysterical, as we all felt the same way, and then Gary chided in and said….”what’s wrong, there is nothing wrong with this soup, I like it, accpet for the Kielbasa in it”. I thought I was goign to pee myself.
Still raining up here. It is supposed to be better tomorrow, and then rain for Thursday. I would say the drought is over.
I was also glad Charro is gone. I was afraid she was going to get carted out by the police. What is up with all the botox on that woman? Her lips were so huge they looked weird. I felt bad that she had to go to that legnth to feel good about herself. I bet she looked a lot prettier, before she did that.
Have a good night, and I hope you do not have any more storms down there.

Well Ladies this was a long day. I was to go for my MRI first but they could not do it because they could not find out if there was metal in my ears from surgery. I said the doctor said the piece was plastic but he was afraid there could be metal wire in there and the machine would rip it out of my ear. They tried calling the hospital but their records do not go back that far. Anyway I can still have the surgery she said he would just need to do it another way. I was dreading the MRI anyway. The vampires took 6 tubes of blood. Had an EKG, Chest x ray and more x rays of my knee. They are going to give me a spinal to do the surgery then I won’t need a breathing tube. She said it is better for the patient and you are numb below the waist so it will help control the pain. They explained everything and the one lady gave me her card with her private number so if I have any questions I am to call her.
The only fun thing was lunch. It was just McDonalds but I have been craving a big mac so I am happy.
It rained off and on all day and was windy.
You know I think the exercises I have been doing on my own must be helping. I was afraid I would have trouble getting out of the car but I used my car cane and did not have a problem. Also the chair they had me in to take the blood was low and soft & I was concerned about that but I got up from there too. So I am going to keep doing them because it will help after.
Bet that is more them you wanted to know about me.
Adele Cuddles is a dog (that thinks she is human). My profile photo is her. Barbara she is 9 will be 10 in August.
See why I don’t post often boring stuff that seems to be all about me.

Hi DD!
I love the kitty in the slipper the best. So sorry your beautiful kitty did not get a nice trim. That must be upsetting, as you have to pay for that.
I was glad Charro got voted off. DWTS is the only reality show I watch, accept for AGT. I do not like the rest of them, either. I have no idea what people see in the Bachelor. Why would a dozen women want the same man- is he made of gold??
My favorite shows are the Chicago series, all of them, of course Blue Bloods, and I love Major Crimes. I like shows that have their characters interacting too, and falling in love with each other….LOL Why do they not find a love interest for our favorite, Tom Selleck? hey, we could apply….LOL When Gary does something goofy, I say to him… is that the way Tom would do it?
You have no idea how I hate the humidity- way more than snow. It gets to be 80% here, and I want to cry. It even bothers my arthritis. I would never survive in Florida. I would be miserable. You are lucky that you do not have it a lot. It is amazing to me the differences in weather in all our areas.
Are you making anything special for Easter? What is your favorite thing on Easter? Do you fix a little basket for your pretty kitty?
Hope your sun is shining out there!!
Adele -
Hey everyone….I am in- we can shop together on our laptops….LOL
Adele -
Hi Colleen
i do to remember who had Family Feud before. I do not watch that a lot, only once in a while.
Read my posts to Barbara and DD for my feelings on Charro. I am so glad she is gone. I was afraid they were going to arrest her.
I bet little Aliza will be in an adorable little outfit for Easter. She will be so much fun to watch this year. We eat around the same time, as everyone has to work. school the next day.
I ave a funny for you. Amanda was supposed to tell me if she had an interview for the new job she wanted, and I have heard nothing. So, today, I get a frantic call asking if I had her spare car key, because she left hers at her friends’ grandmothers, and has a training for the new job she has to get to. I say ya, and hang up. then, it dawns on me, and I call her back asking….what job? She says she is not telling me yet, and hangs up. She blows in here to get the key, and I yell as she runs down the stairs,”If I had my Jeep I could just follow you, you know.” She laughed at me. So, now I have to solve the mystery of what job Amanda is getting….LOL Seriously? What is the big secret? I will have to ask Stephanie, and swear I will nto let it out of the bag…LOL
Hope your night is good, and that your Jeep is where it belongs. Gary has the Jeep all week, until the mechanic can fix his van on Friday. I am grounded.
Adele -
Sue….you are not boring. That must have scared you bout the metal in your ear.. Thank God they decided not to do the MRI. It is a lot of pre testing for surgery, and it is aggravating, especially since it hurts when you have to do all that walking.
I think it is a great idea to keep doing your exercises. it will help with the recovery. You are so right!
One hying I want to say about the spinal. Call and ask if they can give you headphones, or ear plugs for the surgery. I agree it will be a better recovery, but, the noise of the surgery may bother you. Kind of like the nose of the drill is worst than the drilling of a cavity. That is what I think. You h may have a different opinion. I am sure you will do what is right for your needs. I will be praying for you.
What day did you say the surgery was? My mind is going, going, gone….LOL
I bet you have a lot of fun with your doggie. I always wanted one. I guess it is just not in my plan. LOl
Hey- I love Mc Donalds. My favorite thing is the Mcflurry, when I am stressed out.
I hope you have a good evening, and your weather is better than ours up here.
Adele -
Hi Gail,
I do remember when the jeeps were only driven by the military. Then when they first came out for the public to drive they were like the Army jeeps. Then they came out with colors and then they closed them in. Do not think that I would drive the open ones. That would be scary. Does not seem like there is a way to stay safe in them.
It is a shame that you cannot get them right off your camera and put them on here. it is a pain to get them off the computer and then put them on here and then transfer them again. They never can do things the easy way. They have to make it difficult.
It should be interesting to watch David on Rachel Ray. I like her she always a smile on her face. I wonder if she is like that all the time or just when on camera. Hope that David V. has a good time on the show.
The name Snoopy fits him to a t. He is always snooping into everything. If Ron is working outside he is right there looking to see what he is doing. Sometimes though he takes Ron’s tools and hides them and his keys. It is fun to try and find them.
This was your lucky week. Hope that you enjoy the book that you won and the e-book. Maybe your luck will hold out and you will win one of the Quacker baskets. That would be nice.
That is one good thing about Menards and Rural King they have things that women will be interested in.Ron looks for all kinds of things in both stores and does not know when to quit.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I love the smell of a honeysuckle bush. We do not have any around us right now but we need to plant some. Well they are not a bush but a vine. They are supposed to be good to plant close to your vegetable gardens so they will attract the bees. But then you have to worry about getting in the garden and getting stung by the bees. lol It is like a catch 22. It is nice to sit outside as long as the humidity is not so high that it makes you uncomfortable.
It is hard to protect the smaller animals at our place. We have lost all but two of our guineas. We are not sure if we are going to replace them or not. If we do it is going to be different then how we have it now. We will make it more open then it is now and have places up high where the other animals cannot bother them.
Jerry’s mom is a little bit younger then my mom. She is 94 I think. I always forget her exact age. I either make her a year younger then she is or a year older. I think that I got it right this time around She will be 95 this year. Time goes by so fast,
I do not understand why people try to look younger then they are. It doesn’t not do any good. You looked a lot better then she did and a lot more classy. It would not matter if she weighed 90 pounds they still do not look good in short shorts and belly shirts. We worked to get to the age we are at and we should be proud of it. We sure cannot change it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
It will be interesting to see what Aliza will be dressed in. Danyielle is the one that went to school for fashion design and so she will have her dressed to the T. She always knew how to dress and always looked so good not like her mother who looks dumpy in all of her clothes. lol
Now that is not fair that Amanda will not tell you about the job that she is applying for. You should have hid her key until she told you.lol I wonder why she is being so secretive about it. Kids just like to drive us crazy. Hope that Steph tells you so you do to have to wonder about it.
Tom Selleck cannot have a love interest. That would make all the women viewers upset. lol I do not know who they could get to be the woman in his life. If you could pick the woman who would it be? That would take some thinking. I love Blue Bloods. It is always good. The one thing that I wonder about is Danny’s wife on the show. What happened to the bullet they could not get out of her from the season finale last season. They never mentioned it again. They just left us hanging and did not tell us anything.
Well I hate to say this but I cannot make rice krispy treats. I never could. When they would ask the moms to make some for school they always told me not to worry about it. So I would make brownies and bring them. I just have a thing about making them. My kids would not even touch them. I think that they warned all the kids at school not to eat mine if I brought some. So I my name is on the wall of shame when it come to making the treats.
I am at a loss with the next person that should go home on DWTS. There is not one of the people that I think is doing a terrible job on there. Even Mr T did better last night. So guess we will see what happens on Monday and see who stays on the show.
Well that is about all from here. Thanks for being in on the shopping. Hope we find something. Will try to have a picture on here soon.
Have a great night
Colleen -
Hi Sue,
They always run so many tests and take so much blood before they do any type of surgery or procedure. You would think that you will not have enough blood left after they take all they take. I guess it is necessary or they would not do it. Just hang in there it will be over with soon.
That is great that you found exercise to help with you knee. Hope that they keep working for you until you can get into surgery. Please let us know when you are going to have surgery. We will all be praying for you.
Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
Your story about the woman in the shorts and the low cut top reminded me of something. Quite a few years back we were at a place where a guy sold koi. They were in these big tanks at about a little over waist high and you kind of had to bend over the tanks to see them. Greg and I were with another couple and their friend. So the friend pokes me and points and there is another woman there looking at the fish and bending over the tanks and you can see very clearly that she is wearing a black thong as she has white capris on. After that I must say it was hard to keep my eyes off of her. She was no spring chicken either and obviously never looked at herself in the mirror before she went out. It gave us all a good giggle.
I never liked making those rice crispie treats as they were so sticky to handle.
Although I did surprise Greg the other night by wanting to make kugelis without him even asking for it.
I guess your reading is the ultimate reading for relaxation. It makes you both fall asleep. lol You know i always want to know what everyone is reading as I always have my nose in a book. Sometimes Greg and I like reading the same book and other times I know I’m reading something that he would have no interest in and vice versa. Right now i am between books and deciding what to read next.

Gail I just wanted to tell you I saw on Facebook where your granddaughter caught her first fishie. Cute photo of her and the fish.

Hi Colleen,
That’s funny that Snoopy steals Ron’s things. Does he have some retriever in him? Abby loved to take things. If anyone would come in the house and hang their coat on the back of a chair she would always steal things from their pockets. She loved hair scrunchies so much that she figured out how to open the draw in the bathroom that Jenny kept her’s in and she would take them out and scatter them around. Another time I was laying in bed and she jumped into the bed with several dollar bills in her mouth. Brent had a friend spending the night and she went into his room and found the friend’s wallet laying on the floor and stole money from it. She probably would have been an excellent service dog as she loved picking things up and opening things up. I miss her,Belle and Rocky-they were a great group of dogs. I don’t know if we could ever get such nice ones again. Plus I don’t know if I would be up to raising anymore puppies. I have slowed down so much.
We used to have honeysuckle at our old house but they really grew like wildfire and were always needing to be cut back. We transplanted a bunch of lilacs from our old house along the lot line here but most of them have died because there is a cornfield next to us and i think the insecticide that they use killed the lilacs. They were my favorite as they were the old fashioned lilacs and i like the color and the fragrance better on the old fashioned ones than on the newer ones.
We were lucky when we had chickens we had a small barn on the property and they were in a coop inside the barn so they were well protected from all the bad animals who like to steal chickens and eggs. I’ll have to ask Jenny where her FIL keeps his chickens.
Gail -
Adele,
I will have to go get some home and kitchen magazines and do some more research. Good idea.
My chair and ottoman arrived safely and it just dawned on me that this was supposed to have an extra delivery charge since they already delivered the kitchen set and the couch separately. I’ll have to ask Greg if they charged him when he called to set it up. I wonder if they forgot or if they will be billing us later.
What color is your jeep? Maybe you and Colleen have twin jeeps.
I guess Gary just likes plain food-so you found another thing that he likes even if no one else does. lol
I like the line-what would Tom do? lol
I wonder what Amanda’s mystery job will be. I guess it’s a surprise along with the surprise craft from Steph’s house. Lot’s of surprises. I hope that they are good ones.
Gail -
Hi Sue,
I like that Piper was fishing in her zebra coat. One always needs to be fashionable when they fish. lol That coat has had a lot of wear as I bought it for Kendall originally and now Piper has been wearing it. They both loved it so they must have a little of my taste.
I’m glad that they decided to forgo the MRI. That would be scary thinking that if you had metal in your ear it could rip it out.
I like me some Mickey D’s sometimes too. A cheeseburger and a chocolate shake sounds good.
I’m glad the exercises are working out-that will help you through post op.
Your posts aren’t boring at all. We all talk about ourselves and what we are doing-that’s normal. it’s girlfriends chatting about our everyday lives-that’s what girlfriends do. it’s fun!
I’ll bet you were tired after all the tests and it felt good to just get home and snuggle up with a blanket on the couch after putting on some comfy pjs.
Gail -
Hey Gail!
My jeep is red. I wonder what color Colleen’s is. It would be funny if hers was red too.
Amanda called last night. It is a restaurant across from Fenway Park….where our Sox play. I was surprised she wanted to stay in Boston, as parking is awful, and she gets a lot of tickets. She said she is not leaving her restaurant, in case she doe snot like it. So, she will be going back and forth between the two to work. I hope she does not exhaust herself, as she is getting over mono.
So, what does the chair and ottoman look like?
I am on my 3rd delivery date from Macy’s for the file cabinet base. The first was damaged, the second was even more damaged, and they did not even take it off the truck this morning. I cannot believe this. A simple file cabinet that is 30 inches wide, two drawers, with a bookcase top. the bookcase top is fine. Gary is in the office yelling, as his stuff is all over the place, because we cannot get it back into the file cabinet yet. Seriously? They are crediting me 40.00 for the trouble of 3 deliveries. Honestly, if the next one is not perfect, I will have them take it all back, and I will order from another company.
What is up with the poor quality of things lately?
Hope your day is going well, and the sun is shining. Still dreary here, with a storm for tomorrow. I hope Barbara is ok, as I saw she is getting awful storms today.
Adele -
Hey girls
I am missing everything on facebook, as I still can’t scroll down to see anything. My friend Nancy has the same issue. I emailed facebok, and they emailed back they had fixed the issue. A lot of people up here are having the same issue.’
Adele -
Hi Colleen
Soooooo, you, me, and DD could try out for the part….LOL We all love Tom. If it were not us, it would have to be a woman who was kind, caring, and possible a DA, or attorney general….LOL
They never did go further with Danny’s wife’s bullet. Very weird.
Amanda called, so I did not have to get it out of Steph. It is a restaurant across from Fenway Park. She will be real busy, for sure, all summer long.
So what color is your jeep- mine is red.
Take a picture of little Aliza, so we can see her cute outfit. I bet your daughter will have her is quite the outfit, hat and all.
I hope Mr T stays a while. He is trying so hard, and I like him. He reminds me of when the kids were little, and life was so much simpler. Life has changed since our kids were little. Bobby had a Mr T doll, and the 3 million dollar Man one too. They sure do not make shows like they used to. Life seems so fast now.
Isn’t it awful what happened to those poor people in Syria yesterday? Makes you sick.
hope your day is goign well, and Ron is behaving. Gary is pissed his file cabinet is not here yet. See my post to Gail for the details….LOL

Just thought I would add my 2 cents worth about Blue Bloods. They said when Danny’s wife was shot that it was to risky to take it out so it will just stay in there unless it moves.
I like Mr T but I just don’t see him improving much. He just seems to stomp around. I know he is trying and he was brave to go on the show but cannot see him staying and denying a better dancer a chance. I thought Charo tuned it down the last show but the damage was already done.

Hi Sue!
I forgot that about Danny’s wife. I am glad we have you to remind us of the things we forget….LOL It is funny how much we all forget about he plots of our favorite shows. Some days they blend into one. Have you noticed how many of the police shows mirror what is happening, even though they were filmed months ago? It is spooky!
I think Charro was spoken to about her behavior. Too bad they did not do it on day one. I still feel bad they let the guy go who had such a severe back issue. That he was even able to stand was a miracle. I related to his issues, and found it amazing that he was able to dance.
Hope your weather is good, as nasty stuff is coming my way again tomorrow.

Hi Gail,
That is funny that Abby use to take money from wallets. She sounds like a really cute dog. It is funny that she could get the scrounges out of the drawer in the bathroom. It is hard to lose a dog like that. Snoopy may have some retriever in him but I am not sure. I was not with Ron when he picked him up and the guy told him what breeds he was.
My mom use to have lilacs planted around our house when we were kids. They always smelled really good. You are right they do not have them like that anymore. It is sad that they don’t. I always wished that we had pulled up some of the lilac bushes that my mom had and planted them where ever we lived. That is a shame that the pesticide killed your lilacs. We have two lilac bushes now but the one is not lilac it is a pink color. It has a scent but you have to go right up to it to smell it.
That was a good set up for the chickens. Wish that we had a barn here but we don’t just a lot of sheds. With all the room we have I do not know why Ron did not build a barn instead of just a shed. It would be really nice and we would not need all the shed that we have. Guess that would have taken him too long and he wanted the shed right away.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.

Hi Adele,
Do you think that we would stand a chance of getting the part? We are all his age and we are a good bunch of women. Maybe we could just be some women that he dates and we could all play the part. Just every other week he would spend time with a different one of us. It never hurts to dream.lol (playing Tom’s love interest.)
It seems like she would get a lot more tips being right across from Fenway Park. I wonder what it will be like in the winter time. It will probably have enough business to keep her busy. Wish her a lot of luck.
My jeep is a bronze color. It is kind of dull looking now yours really has some good color. The next one that I get will have a little color to it. I really like my jeep and would get another one.
I will take a picture of Aliza in her Easter outfit. She will be dressed really nice. It will be nice to see all the kids and let them hunt the eggs. It is so much fun on that day. If my conversation gets weird it is because Ron is talking to me while I am doing this. That always throws me off.
Mr. T was a lot of fun to watch when he was on the A team. I do not remember what else he was on. I know that he was on a lot of different shows as a guest. We did not have any Mr. T dolls cause of all the girls. They liked face because he was so cute.
That was terrible that they use chemical weapons on those poor people. It is hard to think that they would do that to babies and little children. What did they ever do to him? He is really a sick man.
Macy use to have such good products. It is a shame that they have let their standards go down. They need to go back to doing a better job.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for letting us know what happened with Danny’s wife. I did not remember that they said that about the bullet would not hurt her as long as it did not move. All the kids on that show are really growing up. I bet a couple of them are getting ready to get out of high school
Maybe Mr T will get better next week. He is so big and has never done anything dainty in his career. This must be a real challenge for him. That is like that Kris Rattan he was in no shape to be on the show but he did give it a try. He always looked so stiff when he danced. Do you have a favorite yet.? I am rooting for Nancy. She is doing a really good job.
Have a good day.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
You should ask Ron what breeds that Snoopy is-is Austin part blue heeler or all blue heeler or is it something totally different. Abby actually opened the drawers to get the scrunchies out. i kept finding them all around the house and Jenny swore that she wasn’t leaving them around and was closing her bedroom door when she went to school. So one day I was upstairs in our bedroom and I heard Abby come up the stairs and walk by kind of stealthily. So I peeked around the door frame and saw her go into the kids bathroom and walk up and pull the drawer opened with her mouth and take out a scrunchie. How i wish I had that on tape. So then we had to try and keep the kids bathroom door closed for awhile until she grew out of her scrunchie phase. lol She was such a good dog but she had a little streak of mischief in her.
Maybe you, Adele, Sue and DD could play Tom’s harem. lol What is his first name on that program as I don’t watch it. What if there was a contest for a part on the show. You guys would all sign up for it. That would be fun.
Aliza will be so cute looking for her Easter eggs. I love seeing the little girls in their cute Easter outfits. it’s not as big of a deal now as when we were young. I can still remember some of my Easter outfits with the matching shoes. Sometimes thee was even a little purse and white gloves. Do you remember those gloves? And of course the Easter hats with the terrible elastic piece that went under our chins to hold the hat on. That was before the Catholic church changed the rules about hats at church-after the rule changed we wore doilies on our heads. lol Oh gosh-what memories.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
That was sickening what happened in Syria-I saw some awful pictures on the news yesterday morning. It’s so sad-these are people just like us who want a home, family and a job. Why do the leaders of these countries insist on fighting over ideals that do not even matter to the everyday people who just want to live in peace. Plus these nerve gases are supposed to be illegal all throughout the world. Once again it makes you wonder why such terrible things happen.
On a lighter note-I was thinking that you would have a red car. I love red cars. My car is black which is boring but I do love the car itself.
I would imagine that the restaurant across from Fenway will be really busy. I hope with good tips.
The new chair and ottoman are a blue gray leather just like the couch. The chair is a bit bigger than the old one so i have to get used to that visually. But i do like the look.
The new light fixtures arrived last night so maybe Greg will get them up this weekend. He’s started taking Fridays off so he will have more time for chores. lol I hope they are all in one piece as I haven’t opened the boxes yet. You know sometimes I think it’s a combination of bad quality and things getting damaged in shipping. I hope you get the file cabinet situation straightened out. Somehow it shouldn’t be that hard-should it. But it always seems to be.
That was a cute picture of Piper on Facebook fishing in her zebra striped coat. lol You have been having that Facebook problem for a long time. Just like we have had the problem of our contacts disappearing from our laptops at home but Greg can see his on his computer at work so we know it is some problem with our internet here in the house. it seems like it happened after the Verizon people did their updates and we lost internet for awhile. I’m hoping that eventually they will come back on their own-otherwise i will have some contacts that will be lost forever. Oh well there are lots of worse problems in the world. Are you getting lots of rain today. We actually have some sun and are supposed to be 70 on Sunday.
Gail -
Hey Gail!
So, it is pouring here, and then you hear thunder every once in a while. Absolutely gross. At least it is not snow, so that is good.
Almost all of my cars were red. A few were white. I love that new 3 stage cream colored Jeep. It is beautiful. Have you seen it?
We all watch Blue Bloods- up here it is on Friday nights. Donny Wahlberg is in it too. Hos older sister in the show is played by the woman who is Tom Brady’s x- they have a child together. I just cannot remember her name.
Those are pretty colors. I have noticed there is a lot of grey in home furnishings right now. Seems to be “the color” for decorating. It is beautiful as you can pair it with so many other accent colors. I hope your lights all all in one piece. No news here yet on when the file cabinet will be delivered. Ridiculous.
It is awful what happened to all those poor families. I heard children and women are affected more by that gas. I hope we do something to both give a message, and help the victims. It enrages you when you see such inhumanity.
I have been so aggravated by Facebook, I have thought of trying to take my page down.
I get the same thing up here. Every time Comcast does an up-grade, I have to call the Geek Squad to fix soemthing. That Windows 10 has made a mess of everything.
Hope your day is going well, and Greg has at least one light up.
Adele -
Hey Colleen!
I have a “list of people I would love to have dinner and a conversation with”. Tom is on the list. So is Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, Mario Batalli, Susan Sarandon, Rob Gronkowski, Big Papi, Julia Roberts, Jack Nicholson, the Pope, and many, many others……LOL
Read my post to Gail for more news……
Take a look at that beautiful new 3 stage cream color Jeep. It is to die for!
I can’t wait to see how adorable Aliza will be. there are so many choices for girls’ Easter outfits. My boys are always in grey or black. So boring. I always hated that the girls had the entire floor in a department store, and the boys had one rack.
We will have to see if Mr T gets to stay another week, or not. There’s one woman who is good, but, she seems to be having a lot of trouble dancing in those high heels. I do not blame her, as I have no idea how they can dance in those shoes.
I am horrified by the sight of those poor babies on TV. I hope we get the people who did that. They do not deserve to live. Absolutely disgusting.
Did you see The Chew today? they were really funny.
Hope your day is going well. I also hoe Amanda gets enough tips to make Boston worthwhile.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I have a list also. I would love to have dinner with Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Kathrine Heprin for just a few. This might be a fun topic to talk about. If you could have lunch with anyone living or dead who would it be. It would be nice to have lunch with my dad and grandparents just one more time.
That has always puzzled me too. Why do they have such drab colors for boys and really colorful clothes for the girls. I would love to see the boys with a little color in their clothing. If it has any pink in it my grandsons will not even look at it. I think that a pink shirt would look good under a suit jacket especially at their ages. My oldest grandson went to a masquerade ball at his school. He had a tie and dress pants on he looked so handsome. He said that he did not have such a good time because his girl friend did not get to go. Her dad got transferred to another base so they moved.
Have you been listening to the news? They were showing the children that were hit by the chemical weapons and how they were trying to get them off of the kids. They were spraying them down with water. It looked like the kids were screaming and crying I had to leave the room. Why would someone do that to a little child.
I have been trying to get a hold of my daughter to find out if they are all okay there on base of they are on alert. Please pray that they do not have to go over there. It is better if they do not have soldiers on the ground if they are going to use chemical weapons. We will be praying for the soldiers and all the people that were hit by those bombs.
The Chew was good. I liked the guest that they had today. It is nice to hear a person on that show talk about how she loves to eat and really does. She was not shy about eating the food that they made. They usually have a good show. That picture of Micheal and Mario’s child was awful. It was worse when they showed a grown up version. It was funny that they did that and then Micheal said we were talking about food. Did you hear that they are thinking of opening a restaurant together? I wonder if they were serious or just joking. It could be interesting if they do.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
Austin is all blue healer. Right now he is just a lazy dog. He does not hunt for anything anymore. If he feels like chasing anything he will but sometimes he will just look at it and just lay down and look at it like what ever. It is funny that the only thing that he will fight about is the dog house. Snoopy is lucky if he gets to sleep in one of the houses.
Your new chair and ottoman sound so pretty. Your house is going to be like living in a new place. Are you putting a new floor down in the kitchen or just fixing the one that is in there already? Glad that you new fixtures are in also. I bet you cannot wait until all of the new decorating is over.
If I had to fly to where they tape Blue Bloods then I would not enter the contest. He would have to come to our area for a special reason. Maybe a police commissioner meeting or something. I cannot remember what his first name is in the show. Maybe Adele, DD or Sue will remember. I am getting really bad about names.
I can remember wearing those hats and the glove and patent leather shoes. We thought that we were the prettiest kids around. The elastic band was the worse. It always felt like it was choking us. I remember when they changed to chapel veils and then we did not have to wear anything at all on our heads. Some of all the things that we had to wear was not too bad when I think about it now. The only thing that I really hated was the uniforms that we wore in grade school. They were terrible and then the gym clothes that we had to wear. Talk about looking nerdy that was the outfit that would do it. They even had a picture of us in them in the year book. That was a site to see. I am surprised that we posed for those pictures.
I wrote about my feelings about Syria in Adele’s post. I cannot write it twice. We just need to pray for all of those people and for our military that will be involved in this mess.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
On the lighter note, I did enjoy the show yesterday. That pic of the child they would have had was hysterical. They do some funny things.
Well, a lot certainly happened last night. With as much as I disagree with everything trump has done, this is the one thing I do agree with. the pictures of those children were horrific. Evil needs to e stopped, or it continues. I pray it does not put any of our service people in harms way, or any other innocent person. Those chemicals they have had to be destroyed, and any means they had to do any further damage with them. The whole thing sickened me, as well as I am sure it did everyone. That was the first time I saw Trump affected by anything, and I pray he now realizes what the Presidency means- leader of this country and the free world, and the responsibility that comes with.
I will be praying that your children are not sent overseas, or anyone else. We have the ability to do things without “boots on the ground”, as they say. I am sure they are on alert, as I remember that when we were in the service, and Kennedy was shot. It was very scary for children on base. My heart goes out to all of them, and I pray they will all be safe.
We should do a list of who we would love to have dinner with. I, like you, would love to have dinner with my Dad and relatives. To hear thier voice one more time would be wonderful.
Please be safe, everyone!

Just thought I would post for those of you that won’t go on Facebook. Patrick Hoy has the flu. He is hoping to be better soon as he has shows coming up on QVCUK. I guess this is a way for him to get some rest as he is always on the run. Not a good way to do it.
Tom’s name on Blue Bloods is Frank Regan.
We had heavy rain and wind yesterday and my electric went out for a while last night. It is cold today and they are calling for snow but do not expect it to lay. Probably blow away as it comes down. I want the wind to go away. At least they say we are to get a couple days in the 70’s next week.
-
Hi Colleen,
We plan on refinishing the already existing wood floors in our kitchen as they are so scuffed and scratched. Greg wants to change the color of the stain also. We also want to tear up the carpet in the dining room and put wood in there. The hardest part is deciding when to actually have it all done as it requires a lot of work on our part emptying china cabinets and all sorts of things like that. So I doubt it will be in the spring when Greg is busy with lots of outdoor stuff. We are just in the planning stages right now.
We never wore uniforms in grade school until they built the new school when I was in 7th grade so I only wore them for two years as I went to a public high school. Never had gym in grade school either. High school we wore white short sleeve shirts and blue bloomers. Why we couldn’t just wear regular shorts is beyond me.
Gail -
Hi Sue!
I hope the snow does not stay on your roads too. We got a huge amount of rain yesterday. It is very windy here today, and supposed to get some more rain later. Then, the weekend is supposed to be sunny, and nice, and next week in the 60″s. That will be a nice treat.
I have not seen that Patrick was sick. I can still only see if I get an email on a facebook post, so I continue to miss a lot of what is happening. So,thank you for the up-dates. Has anything like that ever happened to you on facebook? I did send them a message about it, and I got back a message saying all was fixed….LOL My friend Nancy’s facebook is the same as mine, and we are both getting very annoyed with it.
I think your surgery is next week???? I say a prayer for you every night. You will be so glad to have a knee that works, and has no more pain.
Adele -
Sue,
Thanks for the info on Patrick. Hope that he feels better soon. Traveling as much as he does he is exposed to so many germs.
Thanks for Tom’s name.
Hope you get that nice weather soon.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Yes, gray is the in color right now. They even mentioned that at the carpet place-although I went in there already thinking that i wanted gray carpeting as i think it is a nice neutral and I like it better than beige.
I have not seen the new Jeep color. Isn’t it high for you to get into? I have a big problem with trucks and SUV’s. I will have to google it.
We should do this about having the lunch. We should assume that we would all want to eat with deceased family members so we’ll just have a separate luncheon for all of them. So we should then have another with 11 people living or dead of our own choosing and we will be the 12th at the table. I am thinking of who will be on my list and will post it when it is complete. Ready set go!
We don’t have any lights up yet. Hopefully this weekend. We have to finish getting things together for the tax lady otherwise she will berate us unmercifully. lol I try to make Greg drop them off so she can yell at him if she wants. lol
Gotta go now.
Gail -
Hey Gail
I hope you are able to get the lights up this weekend. It would be nice to have those up by Easter, since the new furniture is all delivered.
Going to get the taxes done can be stressful. for me, it is more tingeing all the papers together, and then the numbers ready. When I have it all ready, i am good. We did our a few weeks ago. So glad it is all done.
I have heard that Aizen is going for a haircut today. His scalp is all healed, and I hope he will not freak when he gets into the chair. Say a quick prayer that he is able to get one.
I cannot believe Easter is a week away. Boy, time keeps marching on, doesn’t it?
I have been having some trouble getting into the Jeep lately, so I started doing an exercise with my leg- holding it up, and counting to 5. I hope to make my legs a little stronger. It is worst when I try to get into a smaller car. I kind of throw my leg in, and then the rest of me slides in- because the legs are so short. LOL I hope the newer Jeeps are not bigger than my old one. I have not tried one out yet.
Hope your day goes well, and you get a refund.

Adele or any of you that have trouble getting into and out of a car, have you considered getting a car cane? I got one and it does help. When you open the car door just stick it in the hole and it gives you a handle to get in and out. Mine has other features as well in an emergency you can break a window with it or cut your seatbelt, it even has a light. I got mine from HSN when it was a today’s special.
Adele my surgery is not until next month May 10th. I have to shower the night before and the morning of and use these cloths they gave me to rub some kind of antiseptic on my leg. I am to use a mild unscented soap so I will have to look for that. I am thinking something like ivory if they still make that.
-
Hi Ladies,
This will be short. I have a really bad eye infection in the right eye. It’s all puffy below & above it. It looks like I ran into a fist without the bruising. I have no idea what’s causing it. I went to my eye Dr. & she gave me a couple prescriptions for the weekend. I go back Monday. Hopefully something will work.I’ll have to go back & read your posts so I can answer you guys.
Have a great weekend ladies.
dd -
OMG DD!!
I will say an extra prayer, sent across this land, for your eye to get better. Because eye infections are so pesky and catchy, maybe try to change your pillowcase once a night, until the antibiotic works in 48 hours, or so. Just a suggestion to help you.
Our eyes are so important to all we do- please be careful.
You could have picked up a germ anywhere. Nothing you did to cause it, I am sure. There are so many kinds of bacteria everywhere.
Adele -
Hey Sue
I had no idea a cane to help you get in your car was even available. I am goign to google that right now- thank you!!!
Your surgery is 2 days after Tillie’s 91st birthday. Her birthday will bring you good luck!!Those cloths are probably the same stuff I had to shower with for the week prior to the surgery. I had to get rid of that MURSA bacteria that was in my nose. That MURSA bacteria is everywhere, like staphylococcus. I am lucky I never got an infection, since it was present in my nose. Who know- maybe I am immune to it. Did they do the swab in your nose too> It is wonderful that they are so proactive on bacteria, and do things to prevent issues from happening.
I am off to google the cane.
Thanks!
Adele -
Sorry about your eye DD.Hope the antibiotics help and you are much better by Monday. It is so strange how things just happen to us from out of nowhere.Sue, we have one of those handle things for both of us on each side of our car. I keep mine in the little pocket on the door. I just can’t do without mine, and use it all the time. I saw it on HSN too. I really used it after my stroke, and now it helps me because my legs just seem to “lock up” on me if I sit for more than an hour or so riding or driving. Will surely keep good wishes coming your way for your surgery. You are so smart to have doing your exercises prior to surgery. That will really help you It will be so great for you to be able to get around again after the healing without having to endure all than pain you have been going through. Cuddles was just a puppy when we first came on this site wasn’t she? She reminds me so much of our dog we had, Peppy, but he was quite a bit older than she is. He came to us with our Oz, the shelter said since we were such “good customers” they were going to give us a two for one special that day ha ha. So we ended up with 2 adoptions, and I am so glad we did.
We have been showing Mom Smiths house all week to some interested potential buyers in her neighborhood. It has been a busy week; especially for Jerry. I will be so glad for him when this whole process is completed; it just seems to drain him. I think emotionally is the worst.
What an interesting subject of who we would like to have lunch with. I am really going to give this one some thought. I know for absolutely sure that I would love to sit down with the parents of both of my parents, and really know from their parents perspective what it was like for my grandparents as a child and through their adult lives, and what happened as my parents were born and then grew into adulthood. I do know my Mother’s mother died when Mom was 3 months old, but would still love to have met her. Such an interesting thing for us to think about.
Really supposed to be nice here this weekend. We don’t have any special plans; unless you call a trip to the big box store special; but I do want to stop at the bookstore and browse and then mabey after a visit with Mom Smith; dinner. That would be nice. Take care everyone. Barbara -
Hi Barbara
So glad the storms did not do any damage to any of you, or your home.
It will be hard for Jerry when there is a buyer for his Mom’s place. I think her being in the nursing home makes it worst as it becomes reality that she will never be able to go home. It makes what is looming on the horizon more real.
I ordered one of those can canes from Amazon. I had no idea they had something like that. They do come up with some cool gadgets to help us older folks….LOL I am so glad Sue told me about it. How long have you had yours? Do you use it all the time, or just when you are tired? i wonder how many of our Quackers have one.
This morning I made my shopping list for the bake-a-thon, and Easter dinner. Dinner will e simple- the ham, mashed and cheesy potatoes, roasted veggies, and of course, can corn for Gary….LOL
How is little Colin doing? Have you been skype’ing him every week? we are lucky to live in this age of technology, so we can see our people whenever we want. The old show with the robots (cannot remember the name….LOL) is becoming reality.
the sun is shining up here- yahoo!!
Hope you do something fun with Jerry this weekend- get out to that dinner you missed last weekend.
Adele -
Hi Gail,
It is a lot of work to get ready to have anything done in the house. The wood floor in the dining room will be so pretty. I do not like carpet in the dining room or the bathrooms. You are lucky that you do not have to change that all out also. Did you get your basement finished? I know that you had to do a lot of work down there from flooding. I hope that it is all done an you really like it.
I went to Catholic school until I was a sophomore then went to a public school. It was funny because some of the girls that I went to Catholic school with were at the public also. I do not know why they transferred. I wanted to go to public school and my sister wanted to stay in the Catholic school so that is what happened. I guess it was kind of nice not to be around where my sisters went and being compared to them all the time. At least at the public school everything that I did was done for the first time.lol
I heard from Christine and she said that Patrick is going to do the shows this week. So he must be feeling better. She said that he still has a bad cold. So hope that he will make it thru all the shows. He does need to settle down for awhile. He is always on the go and it is to different countries. That has to be hard.
Well that is about all from here. I am going to a play tonight. Kylie and Brooklin are both in it. It should be pretty good. Brooklin said that they messed up last night so it will be interesting to see if they do okay this time. One of the kids forgot their lines and no one knew who it was. They did try to fake their way thru it But she said it did not work out as well. So we will see what happens tonight. Hope that you have something good planned for the week-end. Will talk to you later.
Colleen -
Sue,
Thanks for the info on the car cane. I have seen them and did not know if they work. They will be worth looking into. I heard from Christine and she said that Patrick is going to do the shows on QVC England. She said that he still has a bad cold. He really could use a rest. Thanks for posting Tom’s name on Blue Bloods. He is such a good actor.
Have a good week-end
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I can understand how Jerry feels about selling his mom’s house. We will be doing the same thing soon with my moms house. I really hate to think about it. She has already started telling us which things that we will be getting of hers. She has it written down and has given it to her lawyer. So it is all taken care of. It is just going to be tough going thru the things that she has in the house the everyday things. My prayers will be with you all as you are trying to do this.
It will be interesting since we are not naming family members. they are on a separate day and no one else is included. It would have been nice to meet my boot legger uncle. I bet he was a riot. My aunt threw him out of the house and would not let him have his clothes or anything that he left behind. So he had to start over.
Anytime we leave the house it is a trip for us. Probably just like you. It is a drive to get to anywhere we want to go to. We are going to a play that our grand kids are in tonight. It will be interesting.
Glad that the storms did not do any damage around your house. It is scary.
well that is about all from here. Have a good afternoon.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
Have a great time at the play tonight. CAn’t wit to hear hwo the kids did- break a leg, as they say!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
The play was really good tonight. My youngest played a rich spoiled kid and the other played a detective. It was out of character for Brooklin to play a spoiled kid. Kylie was the detective and the murderer. It was play that Agatha Christie wrote. The ones with Miss Marple in it. It was so funny most of the time. It shows her struggling trying to write this play and what all happens while she is trying to write this. Every time she would crinkle up a piece of paper to throw away all the kids on stage would all bend like they were being crinkled. It was so funny. The detective killed the rich man and was trying to prove that Miss Marple was not right all the time. She said that if she was ever wrong she would stop butting into police investigations. After she tells them that he did it and how he comes to the front of the stage and does this silly victory dance. That really made everyone laugh. When the play ended Agatha Christie dies and she walks off the stage with all the characters of her play. They ask her to go with them and she was surprised when they asked her. That was how it ends they all walk off the stage. They all did a great job.
Well that is enough of boring you. Will talk to you later.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
That was not boring at all. It was adorable. I can visualize the kids on the stage- how cute was that. All of the audience must have loved it. So nice to see a children’s performance, as they are really funny when they do something wrong. I used to love the dance recitals, when the littlest group were all goign different ways, and the teacher had to get on stage to help them. It was just so adorable.
Kylie having 2 parts was cool. Did you all go out after to celebrate?
JJ’s play is in May. I am dying to go. I hope nothing comes in the way of my going-like my back! My back better behave.
Hope the rest of the weekend was good too. Over her, Steph and the kids had to go to a party for one of her friends. So, because I was not getting visitors, I fixed the EAster baskets, and hid them already. One task done.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
I thought I’d write a few lines as there isn’t anything on TV tonight. I went back & read most of your posts & took some notes. That way I don’t have to go back all the time, since my memory ain’t what it used to be. LOL
Gail there should be a way for you to retrieve your contacts, unless you deleted them somehow. Are you talking about Face Book, gmail? On your computer there should be a place where you click on settings. That will give you some options to choose from. I can’t get to it right now as I’ll lose this & will have to start all over again. But there should be some way for you to retrieve them.
Has anybody see Tara, from Temp-tations on the Q lately? I haven’t seen her in a while now.I don’t know if it made the news back there but we had a powerful windstorm out here Friday. It was the worst April windstorm we’ve had in 50 yrs they say. It took down lots of trees due to the ground being so saturated from all the rain we’ve had. Some folks are still without power even tonight. Our 70 degree day never materialized. sigh.
I have to say I’m over joyed Pres. Trump bombed those monsters. Words mean NOTHING to them!!!! They have to be shown that we won’t stand for their sick ways. When he spoke about it I could see he was tearing up when he talked about the children!! I don’t want “boots on the ground” tho.
As for my list of people I’d have dinner with, Jesus, my mom, Robert Redford, Elvis, just to name a few.
My eye isn’t any better even after the antibiotics. It itches like crazy tho. My friend is going to take me to the Dr. tomorrow. I’ll keep ya posted as to what’s going on.
Have a grrrrrrrrrrreat week ladies.

Hi Adele,
JJ’s play will be so cute. The little ones do such a good job and the play that they are doing is a good one. I hope that he has fun doing it and is not stressed out about it. You will have to tell us all about it when it is over.
After the play last night they had a cast party. So they did not want to go with us they wanted to be with their friends. We had a bbq today but Amanda did not come and bring them over. I wish Kylie would get her license so she can drive over when she wants to. I will miss seeing her in the plays. Brooklin will still be in them. She has three more years so that will be a lot of plays. Kylie may be in the plays in college we will have to see.
The girls told me not to fix the kids baskets just to give them money. So that is what we are going to do. We will have a big bowl of candy on the table and the Easter eggs hidden in the yard. So they will have enough candy and things without the basket. The trouble with the grands they get so much from their other grandparents that there is not a lot to get for them from us. My daughter said not to worry about it anymore. Maybe my gifts are not good enough anymore. lol No three of them are too old and do not believe and the other three get so much stuff that it is not worth it to buy them stuff. As you can tell I am not handling this well and my end up buying them things anyway.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I am sorry that you still have a sore eye. Hopefully they will figure out a way to take care of it tomorrow. That is miserable when your eye hurts and itches. There has to be something they can do for it.
I am glad that all of you are safe there. That had to be some strong winds to pull up trees. If there has been too much rain I guess it does more damage then just flooding. Did you have to go with electric at any time during the high winds? That is a mess not to have electric. You do not realize how much you use the electric until it is not working.
President Trump did show a lot of compassion for the kids that were in the attack. That was terrible and they needed to see that we were not just going to sit back and watch them do this to people. I really hope that this works. I hope that it does not come to boots on the ground either. I guess the guys that would have to go understand that is why they joined the service. I could just yell at my sil when he says that.
Please keep us up on what is happening with your eye. We will be praying for you.
Colleen- -
Hi Everyone,
Barbara, I’ll bet Jerry is both physically and emotionally drained from getting his Mom’s house ready for sale. It is definitely one of life’s great transitions. I hope that you two got that dinner out to just get away and relax and have some de-stressing time together.
I had the perfect weekend. We ate out Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. lol Life is good. After going out for pizza last night we topped the weekend off by driving through Dairy Queen for a funnel cake sundae. Boy was there a line! I guess everyone else had the same idea as yesterday was a 75 degree day which is warm for early spring.
DD I hope your eye will be better soon. I have had something like that on occasion and it takes a little time to clear up. It’s hard for me as I am a contact wearer so have to wear the glasses while everything heals.
Thanks for the info on the contacs but it’s not in the computer-as Greg has the exact same thing on his laptop. It’s got something to do with the server.
Colleen, We do have the basement finished. However Greg is going through the part where we have things stored and trying to get rid of all the stuff that we no longer use that got stashed back there. Plus there are things from Brent and Kim back there too. But the living part with the bedroom, bathroom, family room and recording studio is all done and new floor layed and cleaned up. We ended up putting wood laminate floor down there and it looks nice. Jenny put laminate in her basement too.
The play that Kylie and Brooklyn were in sounded so cute and funny. It sounds like they had fun and did a good job. You can’t blame them for wanting to go to the cast party and be with their friends. That reminded me of when I was in high school I was always in charge of the after musical party. What can i say-I was a party girl! lol Actually, I think I probably should have had a career as an event planner-as I always loved doing those types of things. Why did it take me until I was 68 to figure out what I should be when I grow up. lol Jenny went to see Gabby and Enya in their musical-Peter Pan- this weekend. Gabby was the children’s mother and Enya was one of the lost boys. Can’t wait to hear what the kids thought of it.
They are having that Easter brunch again this year so we will be going there and then the kids will come over later in the afternoon for an Easter egg hunt and we’ll have a sandwich tray and chips and a fruit or veggie tray for dinner. This is my kind of Easter and so easy as the kids really do not care about any big sit down dinner anyway. They would rather be outside playing if it’s a nice day.
I’m sure your little ones would appreciate any kind of Easter toy that you would like to get them-the older ones probably would like the money though. It is hard when they get so much stuff from other family members. But don’t feel that your gifts aren’t just as good-they are actually more special because they come from you! We don’t have any issues like that as our grandkids other grandparents already have 9 other grandkids. But you should do whatever you feel good about doing and the kids will love it!
Adele, we did get the lights up this weekend. The light replacing the ceiling fan in the kitchen went up easily. The chandelier over the table required maybe about two dozen swear words to put it up successfully. lol I also replaced the valances on the little side windows in the kitchen. And I got Greg to hang up the thing with the family birthdays and anniversaries that I made at Jenny’s make it and take it party.
I hope Aizen’s haircut went well. Piper got her haircut last week. It was waist length and Jenny wanted to cut it for awhile and she finally talked Piper into it. It’s a bit shorter than she originally wanted but they had to do it that way so they could donate the hair.
So far i can get in and out of my car all right. I have to lift my leg up high to get in Greg’s SUV-thank goodness it is not one of those giant ones-I can get in Jenny’s too. I need a step stool to get into the pickup. I used to be able to pull myself up and in but that ship seems to have sailed. lol
Adam came in and got our old chair and ottoman yesterday. I also gave them the afgan made by Greg’s Mom that I normally threw over the back of that chair. I guess it’s about time to pass some of those on for other’s to enjoy. So the next thing I know Jenny is texting me a picture of Adam relaxing in the chair and then later that night she posted a picture on Facebook of Lachlan sleeping in the chair wrapped in the blanket. How sweet is that!
I was just going to ask if any one knew what the Quacker TSV would be Friday but then the Q just said it would be some sort of three piece set. Not sure what three pieces yet. I can feel that my wallet might be lighter after Friday though as I love their summer stuff.
I am working on my lunch list. I think I have three spaces left. It’s hard for me not to put all authors and singers on it. lol But so far I think it is a diverse group.
Gail -
Hey Colleen
of course you are not handling it well. Who would? you get cute things that each of them like, and then they tell you not to do it. I am with you on this one. Do the baskets anyway. You can give what you want to give, and I bet the kids like it, even if the mothers say they are too old. For God’s sake, I made a basket for Tillie, and she is 90, almost 91. (I pout a pair of Quacker capris and the cool duck shirt in hers) Steph and Heather got a set of spurtles and lock n locks. All of them go socks from Kohls. They love their socks every Easter, as they lose them.
That is so cute that they had a cast party. I wonder if JJ will have one. That must make them feel so grown up, and special. I can hardly wait for JJ’s play- it will be in May.
You need to have some chocolate. that always makes me feel better.
I am making a carrot cake today, instead of supper….LOL I want to use the bunny pan again, to make sure I get it right. It is hard to figure out the timing, when it is a specialized pan like that. Gary has to go to the school tonight, for the last class of the semester, so he will not be home for dinner either. So, I decided to just bake a cake.
I hope your weather is good. It is warmer here today, but we have a sea breeze keeping it from getting real warm.
We love you, Grammy!!
Adele -
Hey DD!
You forgot to add Tom Selleck to your dinner list….LOL
I would also add Bette Middler, Martin Luther King, the Italian opera singer who died- cannot remember his name right now- I loved his voice. I watched his funeral, and cried like a baby…oh yes, and Jeanne Bice, of course! I did not add Jesus, as I will be having dinner with him soon enough…..LOL
I am so sorry about your eye. Do you wear glasses? I am asking as these infections are so hard to get rid of, and you may need to clean your glasses with alcohol once a day. My daughter wears contracts, and glasses. the last time she had one ( which was caused by her contacts, they think) they gave her an antibiotic, and another one you put right into the eyes. She had to throw out her eye cream, contacts, etc, so there was no cross contamination. Don’t forget your pillow cases too. Anything that touches your eyes, is a possible source of re-infection. It is terribly uncomfortable. I am so sorry it is not better. I hope you have a successful doctor appointment for your eyes, and that they give you something stronger.
Love your pictures, as always!
I did not hear about that wind storm. that must have been scary. With all the rain we recently got, they are doing fire warnings today, for the dryness. this weather is so weird.
I hope your eyes feel better soon- you are in my prayers.
Adele -
Hey Gail!
I keep adding to my dinner list….LOL
You did have a good weekend, and got all your stuff up- it must look real nice, and you must be thrilled.
Your Easter is perfect. I tried the brunch thing once, and got so many complaints, I gave up. Nobody wanted to get up and out the door, that early.
Poor Aizen did not get his haircut yet. he ended up sick with a tummy thing. I was wondering if it was anxiety for the haircut, but Heather said they did not tell him he was going, so, maybe it was another bug thing.
I bet you were thrilled with the pictures they posted with your chair, and your Mom’s afghan. How nice was that! Everyone is happy, even your Mom in Heaven. A nice Easter gift for all of you.
I hope your weather is good, and that you are preparing for your brunch. What are you making? Is it at Jenny’s, or are you all going out for brunch?
Check my posts to the girls for other info of the day….I am off to making the bunny cakes….

The TSV for Friday is capri, shorts and a top. Hint Gail there is a butterfly one.

Thanks, Sue!!
Go Gail….get that butterfly before it flies away…..

Hi Gail,
That is nice that you got the light up in the kitchen. It only took 2 dozen curse words. That is a good job. That sounds so much like Ron. He always gets mad when things do not go right. So Greg did really well.lol At least it is up and working that is nice.
You did have a good week-end. No cooking is always great. Did you go to a good restaurant? The pizza sounds really good and so did the ice cream. We have never tried the funnel cake ice cream but that sounds so good.
The wood floor would look nice down there in all those rooms. It is better then putting down carpeting. That is such a mess if it gets wet. It is always hard to get all the water out of it and under it. Your house is going to look so good when you get it finished.
That is always a mess to get everything out of the basement that you do not use. I wonder if Brent will ever want any of those things that he left behind that were his and Kim’s. Maybe in time he will want to go thru it and decide what to do with it. Her kids might want some of it. You never know. It will be nice to see him when he comes home.
Aliza is the only grand child that lives around here. Her cousin lives in Colorado so his family really buy her a lot of stuff. Kevins mom and dad are divorced so we are getting into two different families. I really wish that my girls would find a guy that his parents are still married. That would be so nice. Then you do not have to deal with all the different groups.
I do not know who organized the cast party for the kids. I am just glad that they went since this will be the last one that Kylie will get to go to. Well high school one that is. I hope that Jenny and the kids enjoy the play that Gabby and Enya were in. They both had good parts. I wonder if Piper will reenact the play for you. That could be interesting if she tries to fly like Peter Pan.
That is nice that they have the brunch again this year. It will be nice to just have to fix sandwiches and snacks. One year we are going to do that. It is hard to find a place around here that does brunches. We do not have that many restaurants that even do breakfast.
That was nice that they posted a picture of Adam and Lachlan enjoying the chair and the afghan. The picture of Lachlan would really be cute.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

Hi Adele,
I am being nosy why does Gary have to go to school? Has he been taking some type of class for his business? See I am being nosy. Hope things go well for him there.
The carrot cake sounds really good. It will be really nice in the bunny pan. Do you make a cream cheese frosting? That usually makes it taste even better. We have not had carrot cake for a long time. I need to figure out how to make a sugar free one. You always do bake a lot. Your family must love coming over just to see what you baked that day.
I have not decided what I am going to do. It is a mess. The older kids have told me that they do not want a basket they just will eat the candy that I have. So maybe will just get things for the youngest three and let them have fun with it. I have to find a book or two for Aliza she loves to look at books. She acts like she is reading them and she just laughs. Wish I knew what was so funny but it is fun to watch. This is really a hard year for me. I do not want my grands to grow up. I need them to stay young.
Kylie is coming over Wednesday to help me do some things on my phone. She wants my old phone is the only reason that she is coming.lol No she always helps me with anything technical. I do not know what I will do when she goes off to college. Hopefully she had taught Brooklin how to do these things so she can help me. I have to hide things from Ron because he tries to set things up for me and really messes things up. I have to remind him he took his phone back because he could not figure it out.
Well that is about all from here. Hope that your cake turns out right. Have a good night.

Hi Ladies,
This will be short. I went back to the eye Dr. today. Apparently it isn’t an infection since the antibiotics didn’t do a thing for it. So she gave me another prescription for a different eye drops. There must be something I’m allergic to. I’m gonna try Benadryl for a few days & see what happens. It isn’t painful, but it does itch.
I’ll go back & read your posts & answer them tomorrow. I’m really tired tonight.
dd -
Hi DD
I hope your eye feels better soon. Do not worry about reading our posts. We just want you to feel better!

Hi Colleen
Gary is not in school. He goes to the 2 evening classes for auto body repair, helps the guys taking the class with products they need to do their repair, and we sell the products to them, as the school does not offer supplies to the students. Each year there are 2 sessions, one in the fall and one in the spring. This is the last week for the spring sessions. Gary is glad this semester is over, as he is getting real tired at night. I am glad too.
I did frost the bunnies. When I frosted them they no longer looked like bunnies, they looked like eggs….LOL Tillie and I share a bunny, and then she had Bobby come up later for another bunny. The pan makes 6 bunnies, and I have 2 left for tonight. I cut the cake recipe in half, as I knew the batter would not fit in the pan, and it worked out perfect. Gary hates cheese, any kind, but he likes the cream cheese frosting- how funny is that???
I know your kids will love the baskets you do. You can do what I do with the chocolate- make a huge centerpiece with it, with the chocolate sitting in grass on the platter. I have that edible grass they sell, whihc is great, as they can eat that too. I only put a little tiny bag with some of those mini Cadburry eggs, that look like M & M’s. I put books, bubble things, socks, and any small stuff I find that would be cute. This year I found little egg crayons. The big kids get socks in theirs. Tillie is giving them all a few scratch tickets in her Easter bags for them. I hope someone wins.
You do have to hide any technology from Ron. I do not have to do that, as Gary does not even know how to turn anything on….LOL
Did you hear about the shooting in California? I cried when I heard about those poor kids, and I cried again when they said one boy died. This makes me sick to my stomach.
This world is not nice.

Thanks Sue!!
Did you get it?
Adele
PS….it was 86 up here today. I did not cook- too hot….LOL

Sue, thanks for the heads up! I ordered the anchor outfits; our son’s wedding theme on the beach was an anchor that said “love is the anchor of our life” and it was so beautiful; so I am thrilled to see Jeannes’ clothes with the anchors. Course; I am loving all the other ones too ha ha. Gail, my pocket will be a little more empty too. And you know; black is “so Slimming!” ha ha. I surely hope poor Patrick is feeling better soon. He had better take it slow for a good while; these bugs are so strong, and it takes quite a while to recover; especially from the flu or pneumonia.
Your home sounds absolutely beautiful Gail. One of the leading signs of a great marriage is how well the couple does during a move, or renovations, or money issues. It seems you and Gregg handled it very well; and cursing is just part of the instructions included that as we all know our husbands don’t EVER read the instructions. ha ha. I can’t even begin to say how many “discussions Mr. Jerry and I have had over the years about the “did you read the directions?” and that scowl that followed. I have always said to Jerry, when all else fails, read the instructions. ha ha
Adele, I do a bunny cake too, but here is how I do mine. 3 round layers, and one of the layers I frost and decorate like the body of the bunny with jelly beans, cut the one of the layers like this shape ( and ) curved right down the middle to make its ears, and the other layer is his face, where I use jelly beans, or M and M’s or whatever I have on hand to make its’ little face and smile, nose and eyes. I frost the ears with two different colors of cream cheese frosting. It sounds so much harder than it is to make and the boys always looked forward to helping me bake it and then of course to decorate it. Bet your grands would too. We used malted milk balls one year for his smile and his eyes, and one year upside down hersheys kisses. We were SO talented. ha ha
I stopped in the florist yesterday to see about getting a corsage for Jerrys Mom for Easter; and would you believe they said they are $35 plus tax. I guess I must be out of touch about corsages, but I was thinking more in the twenty dollar range for two pink carnations and a little greenery. But she didn’t hesitate; so when I told Jerry he said he would bring her some flowers from Walmart since he has gotten flowers from there before for her, and they really were pretty and reasonably priced. We are taking the staff and residents lots of candy on Sunday. We are getting up early that day to attend the Easter sunrise service over at the cemetery where Jerrys Dad is. We go every year for his service. It’s sad but beautiful all at the same time.
DD. how is your eye doing? Bet that benadryl made you sleepy. Hope you are doing better.
Sue, your MRI experience reminded me of one of the first times as a nurse I took my ICU patient for an MRI. It took a long time getting all the IV’s and lines that we had attached to the patient together, but when we finally got to the MRI and I finally got the patient ready for the test, I stayed close by the patient because he was so critical, and during the beginning of the test I felt like someone was pulling my hair, and I kept looking around and the pulling just kept happening, until I FINALLY remembered that I had two bobby pins tucked in my hair to keep it out of my face and the magnet from the MRI was literally pulling those pins out. For a while I thought there was a ghost or something inside there with us. My patient was on a special ventilator that they have for ICU patients; so it wasn’t affected by the magnets. I was at a loss as to who and how my hair was being pulled so hard when it was just the patient and me, and everyone else was a long way off. So yes, those are strong magnets.
Better go for now, and help Jerry. He can’t find something and is getting frustrated. Imagine that. Barbara -
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. The Benadryl worked. I woke up this morning & my eye wasn’t nearly as puffy as it has been. So for the next few days I’m gonna be walking around in a fog. I’ll be taking it at bedtime then after breakfast. Hopefully it’ll work faster that way. The eye Dr. wrote me a prescription for some other drops. When I saw the price before insurance & I nearly fell off the sofa. I paid $3 for the co-pay instead of the $232.19 before insurance!!!! And it’s a tiny little bottle. OUTRAGEOUS!!!
Speaking of outrageous, did you guys catch the video of the man being dragged off the plane yesterday? the airline over booked & needed to get 4 people off so employees could get on!!! I saw it on my FB page & of course I had to make a couple comments. I said everybody should boycott the airlines. I heard this morning their stocks fell so bad they lost nearly a billion dollars. I don’t know if its true or not, but if it is, I say GRRRRRRRRRRRREAT
The guy wasn’t posing a threat, or anything. They didn’t need to drag him so violently!! I’d sue em up the wazoo!!!Adele,
you go from snow to 86? That’s what I call weather whiplash. WOW!! Would you send some of that warmth out this way? We can’t even get up to 60 much less 70 or higher.Colleen, can’t you substitute applesauce for sugar in your carrot cake? I’ve heard it makes a good substitute. There’s Splenda, too. As for the Easter baskets, GO AHEAD & make em up. Go to the Dollar store, pick up a few items, & do it anyway!!! I LOVE the Dollar Tree, they have such cute things for the holidays. They have glittered eggs, iridescent ones, plain, some with faces on em. You don’t have to spend a fortune, even tho I end up spending a fortune, LOL. They have Easter candies, you can put in the eggs. I use some of the eggs as toys for Jewell. I put catnip in em & she bats em off the bed. It’s funny, once they’re on the floor she ignores em.
Did I say this was going to be short? LOL
Kay & I are planning to have Easter dinner here. I’ll fix it here in my new stove.
Well, that’s all for now.
dd -
Hi Adele,
I should have remembered that Gary sold supplies to that class. You told us that once before I think. My mind is really going fast. I can imagine that he is glad that it is over. It is hard to work during the day and then go out again at night and work.
The bunny cakes sound really cute. They must have been really good if Tillie sent Bobby up to get her another one. That makes it nice when they like what you made. I bet they looked like bunnies just put some things on it to give it eyes and a mouth. Then you will be all set. You could use jelly beans for both. It would be hard to make a nose for it though.
We have a bunny bowl that I put in the middle of the table and put the candy in it. That way everyone can eat all they want. May have to put it up high this time so they do not try to feed Aliza a lot of candy.lol She will eat all that she can get her hand on. She is such a mess.
i did not hear about the shooting in California. We did hear about the employees of that air line dragging that man off the plane. They really had no right to do that if they were just trying to get people to give up their seats for employees. You would have thought that they would have had more sense then to do that with all the cameras people have on their phones. They sure got a lot of pictures of it happening. That airline is going to pay out a lot of money for that incident.
I wish that Ron did not know how to turn things on. That is the only thing that he can do without causing problems. We had left games on the old phone that I have and the grands would play them when they were here. Well they went to play the other day and he had wiped them all out. We have no idea what he did.We have to reset the whole thing over again so we are just giving it to my oldest granddaughter. She broke her phone and needs to use it. We will let her set it any way she wants.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night. I am going to pick up somethings for the little grands and not the older ones. I will give them money.Colleen

Hi Everybody!
Didn’t get on yesterday as I had a hair appointment at 9:20. Then went to bank, to Walmart to pick up some Easter candy and plastic eggs and then stopped at Mickey D’s for lunch. After that I was tired. lol
Sue thanks for the heads up on the TSV. I can’t believe that I’m saying this but I might have to take a pass. First of all why are they selling a long sleeved shirt to go with shorts and capris? I know that you can fold it up to make it 3/4 sleeves but when it is 90 degrees out I want short sleeves. Secondly the pants that go with the butterflies are white and light pink and I never wear white pants. So hopefully they will have some other new things on TSV day with butterflies. I do like the butterfly dress except that I would only wear a maxi-but i may get it anyway just to lounge around the house.
DD, the cost of prescriptions for so many things are so high. Thank goodness for insurance. I was amazed at the cost of those shots that my husband got in his back. The most expensive charge was for the “operating room” that they do it in.
I wonder what you are allergic to? What is new around your place. I hope it’s not the new stove and refrigerator. I’m glad the benadryl is working and hopefully you will be back to normal soon. That will be nice for you and Kay to spend Easter together. You are a good neighbor.
Barbara, what is it about men and reading the directions? If I am assembling something that’s the first thing I look at. Greg’s motto is-if all else fails read the instructions. lol I guess men just think that they should know how to build things automatically and women just want to get it right the first time. lol
How sweet are those memories of you and the boys building the bunny cakes.
Gosh I didn’t realize the cost of a corsage either. I agree with Jerry-he can find something at WalMart and their flowers are pretty nice-I have bought them before.
That is an interesting story about the bobby pins and the MRI machine. What powerful magnets.
Colleen, we went to three different restaurants Friday we went to a local bar for their fish fry, Saturday we went to his golf club for their Saturday night cookout where the restaurant barbecues steaks ribs chops or chicken-it’s very popular, Sunday we went to another local spot for pizza. It was great. I have an old Quacker shirt that says-“my favorite thing to make for dinner is reservations.” How true!
Greg went through a lot of Brent’s boxes that had Kim’s clothes and threw them away as we know that Brent will never go through all that stuff and we don’t want to store it forever. I’m sure he will be glad that Greg did it for him.
It is nice when a family has no divorces as you then don’t have to deal with family get togethers with ex’s and new spouses etc. It can get complicated. I think Jenny’s situation takes the cake though having her husband’s ex living with his parents. lol Talk about awkward situations.
My goofy husband-told me that the picture Jenny posted on Facebook of a kid asleep in the new chair under the new afgan was Lachlan. Well the next day I see that Jenny texted me that same picture and I take a close look at it and see it’s Kendall-not Lachlan.
Greg better get his prescription checked. lol
Adele, We will probably go for brunch around 11:30-would that be too early for your group. We are doing exactly what we did last year which was so much fun and so little work for me. A local banguet place/restaurant puts on the brunch and we will go to that. Then later in the day the kids will come over to hunt for eggs and get their Easter baskets. I have ordered a tray of sandwiches from WalMart and will serve those and chips and probably make a veggie and dip tray and have an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. We did this last year and it worked great as the little kids really don’t care about a big sit down dinner-they would rather go out and play. So I figured why not make it easy on myself. This way we can all just relax and enjoy ourselves.
Gail -
Hey Barbara!
Take a picture of your cake! I hope you make it this year, as it will cheer you up. Then you can skype it to little Colin. You are very talented, for sure.
I will take a pic of my chocolate centerpiece, of course, for all of you to see.
That is so nice to have a corsage for Jerry’s mom. Maybe I will do one for Tillie on Mother’s Day this year….LOL
I just got company, so i have to go……talk later!
Adele -
Hey Gail!
you have the perfect plan for Easter. I hope your weather cooperates for all the activities.
Well, I was supposed to get my hair trimmed this am, and did not go. I was watching the interview of Sean Spicer on MSNBC. I had no idea it was going to go on for that long. Tillie is off with Gary to both get their hair cut-they should be back any minute. I will try to get there tomorrow, either before, or after my first PT appointment. If not, I will get it done next week.
You got a lot done yesterday. No wonder you were exhausted. It must have felt great to get all that done in one day. I am always happy when I achieve all my goals for the day.
Tomorrow I start the prep work for the baking. I have to cut up the cold cuts for the Pizza Ghiena- a huge ricotta, fresh cheese, egg and cold cut pie. It is a generations old Italian recipe. I cut them all up the night before, and mix the dough, so putting it together in the am is fast. I am dying for a piece as we only make it once a year. It fills up a big lasagna metal pan.
Hope you are having a good day…..it is in the 60’s here, and about to rain. Tillie and Gary just pulled up outside, so I am glad they are back before the rain.
adele -
Hi Colleen
It is hard for Gary, especially as he is getting older. He is glad the semester is over. the next one starts in September, so he has a nice, long break.
You are going to have so much fun with Aliza this Easter. I cannot wait to hear what she does!
I should have put some candy on the faces- they would have still looked like bunnies. You and Barbara have good ideas on bunny cakes. LOL
I got one of those sets of 3 tablets from the Q at Christmas- gave 2 away, and use one for the kids for their games when they are here. The spare is for when we break one….LOL
Well….Tillie just got back from the hairdresser, and I have to make tea.
Have a good day!
Adele -
Hello ladies. Sounds like everyone is having a good day. Gail, I must say your idea of not working too hard and enjoying the day sounds good to me. I bet everyone enjoys the ice cream cake. Don’t know why but I just never thought of that. When I do get one, I have to buy two because Jerry will only eat plain vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake and everyone else wants cookies and cream or strawberry or some other flavor and he just fusses if doesn’t get “his favorite” ha ha. Little Colin skyped us last night. Joey and Lisa had just left to go out to dinner. I wish they could have seen him too. We had a wonderful chat. I sang “here comes Peter Cottontail” to him while he chewed on his Sophie giraffe that we gave him. He smiled so sweetly. Jerry just turns into mush and makes all kinds of baby noises. Colin will just laugh at Jerry and then Neal laughs in the background. I am so grateful for that technology. They are going on a train ride today. It is a real train that does tour rides around that area somewhere. Neal is off work on Weds. and Thurs. for now; so they do lots of sightseeing on those days. Sarah doesn’t ever say “hello” to us. We always do to her and sometimes when Colin grabs Neals’ phone we will see her sitting close by but she doesn’t answer. I must be the worst MIL ever; and I just wish someone would tell me why so I could do differently. But, human nature is one subject that someone MUCH smarter than me will have to figure out.
Gail, you and I have the same restaurant shirt. I wear mine too sometimes when we go out to dinner. People like it, don’t they? I have had mine for several years. When I tell Jerry this, he really doesn’t believe me. They juhst wear forever, and look brand new so I can see where he would think that, and I must admit I do add to my collection on a regular basis. The main reason I went with the long sleeves Gail, was because it helps me when I am in one of the freezing cold offices, like the doctors office, and can roll them down for just that short time. It gets SO hot here in the summertime that we just melt most of the time, and it seems like when we do have to go into a cold place that I freeze. I will go to shaking, and I don’t think that is good for you. I love the dress, but will NOT show my knees and I am 5 ft 8 or so, and I always wonder about the length of a lot of dresses. Several years ago, I bought 2 Susan Graver loose fitting summer dresses, and still wear those because they were long enough to cover a lot of my knees. Sometimes I like to just wear them around the house here, because they are so comfortable and wash up like a breeze.
DD, love the picture of the kitty and the bunnies. It’s like he is saying, are you all kitties or am I a bunny? Our kitty is gaining too much weight (he is following my footsteps) and we are trying to cut back on his “frequent meal times” but he is not happy about that. He is so much company for us.
We have been calling around trying to find a charity to donate a lot of Jerry’s Moms’ linens, towels, blankets and so on too, and they are all telling us that we have to bag everything up, have it waiting outside for pickup, and then they will load it on to their truck, or even worse, we have to bring everything to the charity and unload onto their loading dock. Never would I have thought it would be so difficult to donate items to charity. So now, we are going to go visit a local church in her neighborhood, and see if the pastor there would have some of his parishoners come in and help us clear out items needy families from their church could use. It has been quite a week dealing with all this. Jerrys Mom got her hair done yesterday too.
Better go for now and pick up a few items for Sunday. We are doing ham, potato salad, rolls, some green veggie, and chocolate pie. Joey and Lisa will come up, and hopefully we will get a call from our “bunny”. Take care everyone. Your Tennessee Pal, Barbara -
Hi DD!
I am attaching a pic of Tillie with her nice fresh haircut, and her Quacker on.
That is new England- they have a saying up here,”If you do not like the weather, wait a minute.” LOL LOL Today, it was barely 60, and I had to run around and shut almost every window that I had open all through the night. It was dreary all day, and just now the sun came out, after the showers passed through.
That is great that you and Kay are having Easter dinner together. Are you making a ham too? It seems like it is the law at Easter.
I hope everyone who has a ticket on United Airlines, changes to another airline. That was disgusting.
Did you see DWTS? I felt bad that Mr. T is gone. He tried so very hard. I am partial to the older dancers, when they try real hard. I was not partial to Charro, as she was ridiculous.
Designated Survivor is on tonight- I love that show. So is Modern Family, and the rest of the Wednesday night comedies.
Hope your eye gets better every day. I hope it is all gone before Easter. Allergies can be tough.
Adele -
Hey girls….see my potatoes all clean and drying on the counter for dinner tonight? LOL LOL
The potatoes are next to my fish. someone asked me what his name was, and I forgot to add it. It is Mr. Fishie.
Adele -
Hey Barbara!!
There is nothing wrong with you, my friend. It is her. What could you possibly have done to her- nothing we have heard about, and you would have told us. I bet she is pissed that her husband has such a great relationship with his Mom, and she probably has a lousy one with hers. You just keep on being your sweet Southern Belle self. baby Colin will love you for it.
Isn’t the skype thing fabulous? Tillie has nto been to see Stephanie’s place, and today, we skyped Steph and the boys when Tillie got back from her hair appointment. Steph took her aorund with the phone, and showed her the whole place. Tillie was thrilled.
Our menu is the ham, mashed and au gratin potatoes, broccoli/cauliflower casserole, and of course, can corn for Gary. There will be the traditional Pizza Ghiena, and ricotta pie, mini cream cheese pies, Anise cookies, and Greek twisty cookies(got that recipe from one of my teenage foster children). Steph is making something with the bunny pan, and Heather will bring the sweet potato casserole, hopefully not burned this time….LOL Heather has always burned the casserole, accept for this past Thanksgiving, so we are all praying it will be good again. We have 16 people for dinner, as Amanda will be working all day. I am asked to save at least half of the Pizza Ghiena….LOL
We are all lucky women, who have good friends and family to share our holidays with. Go Quackers!
Adele -
Hi Everybody
This is going to be short. My internet keeps shutting down and am hoping to chat for a little while before it does it again. It did it last night right in the middle of trying to chat last night. Will try again tomorrow. It is 1:30 in the morning and I need to get to bed. Talk to all of you tomorrow if this thing will let me.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Did you have a hair appointment and just not show up or do you go to a walk in place? My stylist is so busy that my appointments are made months in advance and then because she is by herself when she goes on vacations I make appointments way in advance to work around her vacations. I think she might be getting close to having another girl in there with her-she could use it.
Tillie looks good in her Quacker shirt. I see your potatoes in the background. lol
So do you serve the pizza ghiena hot or cold? It sounds kind of like a bread lasagna. I suppose Gary doesn’t eat that either since it has cheese in it. How can you not like cheese? And i don’t even count the cream cheese as i don’t consider that a real cheese. Can’t believe he never would have eaten a grilled cheese, or ham and cheese or a cheeseburger!
Greg went to see the neurologist yesterday. All his tests were fine which is a good thing but that still doesn’t help his situation. He thinks what’s causing the numbness and weakness is the spinal cord being rubbed by the stenosis in the spine but both he and the pain doctor said from what the MRI shows that no ortho doctor would recommend surgery at this point because the tests show it’s not that bad. he suggests that he has another MRI in six months. However, that doesn’t help him with relief at this point. He also told him that he might need to use a cane but he doesn’t think he will end up in a wheelchair. Oh my God I could have slapped that doctor when I heard that. I don’t think that thought had ever entered Greg’s head before then. No wonder he was feeling down last night! this is a guy who has always been athletic and active. He is no where near the couch potato that I am. He always has to be doing something. Anyway, I think he should go for the second MRI in six months and if they still don’t think he is a candidate for surgery I think he should get other opinions from an orthopedic guy. I’m going to ask my rheumatologist what he thinks and who he would recommend.
Gail -
Colleen,
I hope you get the “puter” working.
Gail -
Barbara,
I think every kid of this generation has had one of those Sophie giraffes! They must have sold millions of them. That’s something all the kids will have in common.
Barbara, It is not you it is her. There is nothing that you could or should change about your behavior. It is totally her problem. I don’t know why but some young woman think that they are in some sort of competition with their MIL for their husbands love. I don’t know why they don’t realize that their husband loving their mother is totally different from how he loves them-and I would rather have a husband who loves and respects his mother than one who doesn’t as I think that’s an indication that he will also treat me with love and respect. I think girls who have this attitude just lack confidence and that really is their problem. Don’t ever let her make you feel less than. I guess I was really lucky that Kim and I got along well and never had any of these issues but i can see that they would make a person wonder what is wrong with them-but it is not you-it’s Sarah some how feeling that the two of you are competing for Neal’s affections. Hopefully some day she will grow up and realize that a man loves his parents, his wife and his children but he loves them all in different ways and there is room in her family for all that love-you can never have enough love in my opinion. In a way I feel sorry for her being so insecure-but not that sorry since it is so hurtful to you and Jerry. I hope that eventually she matures and sees that she has nothing to worry about. Is she close to her parents? Does she have siblings?
I would say that the Quacker clothes, D and Co and Susan Graver clothing all wear like iron. I have had some of those things in my closet for years and years.
Isn’t it crazy how hard it is to donate clothes and such nowadays. I had some bags of clothing that Greg was going to take to a drop off for me and they boxes kept disappearing and he rode around with those bags for two months before finding another box that wasn’t moved. It’s a shame when you think of all the people in the world that could use those things. One idea. I know our animal shelters often take towels and blankets and things like that-so that’s a possibility.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. My eye seems to be getting better. It isn’t nearly as bad as it was. It isn’t completely healed but is better.
Easter is supposed to be 70 FINALLY!!!
I made up a batch of brownies awhile ago. Love brownies.
Not much going on out here, so I’ll close for now.
If I don’t get back in time I wish all of you a wonderful Easter weekend with your families.
dd & Jewell -
Hi Ladies,
I’m watching QF right now & I love the yellow butterflies & the turquoise beach umbrellas to mix & match!! Sigh. I can’t afford another easy pay payment ☹️
Have a fun day girls.
Dd -
Hi Ladies.
Barbara, I agree with what Gail said. You should not have to change to please you dil. She has to grow up and accept you for who you are. No one is asking her to change so. That is nice that you are getting Jerry’s mom some flowers. She will really like that. The staff at the place where she is staying must really be happy to see you and Jerry come in the door That is so nice that you do so much for them. It makes them feel appreciated.
That is so cool that Colin skyped you last night. It is fun to get to talk to them even though we cannot understand them yet. It would be so nice to be able to talk to them and understand what they are saying to us.
Gail that is so cool that you got to go to three different restaurants. You really had a good variety of food. That would be so much fun not to have to cook all week-end and just go to different places to eat. That was nice that Greg went ahead and got rid of KIm’s clothes. It would be hard for Brent to do that and this just lifts some of the burden. That was funny that Greg got Kendall mixed up with Lachlan. It still was a cute picture. That would be a strange situation with the x wife living with your husbands parents. I wonder how that came about. That must be an interesting story.
DD, I am so glad that your eye is doing better. That is hard to deal with when you are having trouble with your eye. That is really nice that you are having dinner with Kay. She is a good friend to have around and you two can do a lot together. Are you going to make a ham? It will be a good meal.
Adele, I like the top that Tillie is wearing. She looks very pretty in it. That is a good picture of her. My mom is here for Easter. We picked her up to day. I may not be on here tomorrow it will depend on how our day goes. It is so nice to have her here. We went shopping together this evening and them came home and made spaghetti. The rest of the nigh we have just been sitting around talking. Tomorrow I have to finish cleaning the house. I bought some toys for the kids for their Easter basket. It is better for them to have a little something to play with. The mom’s will not be happy with me. I got the kids these long water guns. They will have a good time filling them with water and shooting each other with them. Being Grandma is fun.lol
Sue thanks for the number on the tsv. It is really cute.
Well that is about all from here. I will talk to all of you later.
Colleen -
Thank you all for the eye opening words of wisdom on our DIL. You all really echoed the same sentiment as Jerry did just the other night after we had spoken with our son and the baby. Jerry told me that he felt we should continue to always say “hello” and make comments to the baby about “you are taking such good care of MaMa and Daddy” and just not worry. I would LOVE to be close but since I cannot see what is in her head or her heart; I think I need to just “let go” and let things work out however they are meant to. Gail, yes, she does have her Mom and they did take trips together when we first met Sarah. Her Dad is retired, and she has one younger brother; who our son isn’t close to. He does things; shall we say; that Neal doesn’t respect, and Sarah and her brother don’t seem that close; in fact; kind of jealous comments about how much attention and money he recieved from Sarah’s parents instead of working hard like she does sort of comments. But like you, I always felt a man who was good to his Mom would be good to me; and I still feel that way. We all just look at things differently; I guess. But I love our sons, and I am not ashamed to say so; and all I hope for is to find someone who loves them, and works with them to build a life together. That is what brings me real happiness.
Neal sent us a video last night that he had made on his phone of our angel eating his first solid food. He got so excited after the first two bites and would wave his little arms and open his mouth like a little bird, and after each bite he would look at Neal and smile. Neal asked him, “boy, why do you keep looking at me?” and just laughed and then Sarah would spoon another bite in of the sweet potatoes. Neal would say “yum, yum!” to him, and he would wave those little arms. Jerry and I watched it over and over.
It has been beautiful here today; up in the 70’s and partly sunny. I hope it doesn’t rain like it usually does here on Easter; so families can do their outside activities and everyone can enjoy a beautiful day. I was thinking about when I was 14, my Mom had gotten my first pair of “heels” to wear from Sunday service (they were little kitten heels, but I felt so grown up). Anyway, I got pneumonia and was in bed so sick. I cried and cried because I couldn’t go to church, not for the right reason, but to show off those shoes LOL Finally, come Easter morning, MaMa dressed me up in the bed; shoes and all, and there I lay while everyone else went to service but me and her. I will never forget that day. That is one reason I love to see little children all dressed up in their Easter finery. Adele, I think it is so funny how you all hope that Heather will not burn the casserole; like that is part of your tradition. I also like how you must have “corn” for Gary. That is so funny. We are all kind of set in our ways about some things, aren’t we? By the way, your Mom is beautiful, and looks so happy.
The main reason I don’t put pictures on here is I don’t know how. I have just got to look up how to do that. There are so many things I would like to show you all. Well, got to go take Jerry some water since he picked today to knock down some kind of vine (lord, I hope its not poison ivy) that he saw when we were pulling in the garage. He is using his cane on it. I don’t know what I am going to do. ha ha Barbara -
Hi Ladies,
Ok how many of you bought out QF today?? lol I wish I could’ve!! Sigh
They had so many tops that matched back to the TSV.
Sounds like we could have the warmest day so far this yr on Easter Sunday. I hope so!!
Have a wonderful Easter!
Dd -
Hi Barbara!
I did not get a chance to post yesterday. So far, I just read yours.
Thank you for the compliment on Tillie. Can you imagine she will be 91 next month? So, while i was knee deep in flour and eggs, she calls me to order a few things from the Quacker shows….LOL
I baked the Pizza Ghiena, Ricotta pie, mini cheesecakes, and the lemon cookie.
I got some visitors in the middle of the baking. I had already put the baskets around the dining room for the hunt Sunday, as I did not expect anyone. So, Aizen comes up the stairs, glances at the hidden baskets, and looks at me. I looked down to his level and said….”Shhhhh”, with my finger over my mouth. He just gave me a big smile. He went back downstairs later, and told Tillie,”The Easter Bunny already came upstairs”. I thought that was so funny. he did not go near them, whihc I also found amusing. he did sit on his Nonnie’s lap and lick the bowl form the ricotta pie.
I know what you mean about enjoying the baby eating something for the first time. I still love to see Aizen do that. It is just so much fun to see them explore their world, and eat new things. Everything is a wonder for them. It is that innocence that we love so much. It is delightful.
The new technology allows us to see and enjoy what distance does not allow.
I hope Jerry did not hurt himself pulling up the tree yesterday. It looks like we have a major issue with our birch tree. It is leaking some fluid, actually oozing out of it. Plus, where the dead branches were cut, it looks like it is now hollow. I think I will have to get a tree company to remove it,before it falls on my neighbors fence and shed.
I am attaching a few pics, one with Aizen, JJ and Heather from yesterday too.
Adele -
Hey girls
I will read all the rest of the posts later- hope you are all ok, especially DD………
Attaching one more of the lemon cookies….
Adele -
OMG, my entire email disappeared. I cant believe this.
I do not have time to do it again, so please everyone, have a good Easter. I will do a quick one, so please forgive me.
DD- thank God you eye is better- love the pic of you and kitty- it is hot here too- I did not get anything yesterday.
Gail- Get Greg to a spine specialist, doctor. If he gets the series of 3 shots in his back, it fend off surgery for a while, and they do work. Great you got rid of the clothes for Brent-great job with the email to Barbara- Pizza ghiena is served cold- kind of like a ricotta cake, with cold cuts in it, and a crust bottom only-a cross between a cake and a quiche-my new hair place is a call ahead one, and I love it- no fuss, and they do a fabulous job- i would have killed that doctor who even mentioned a wheelchair.
Colleen- hope the internet is back up- great to have your mom here, and I hope you all have a wonderful time- I bet the kids will love the water guns more than the stuff their mom’s got for them- thanks for the nice words about Tillie.
Barb- I could not have said anything better than Gail did. Ditto on everything she said. You are fabulous, and do not let your DIL make you feel you are less than!!!
Love you guys!…one more cookie to go….
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. My eye is almost back to normal now. It’s still a little red but the swelling has gone down.
The weather is beautiful out here. Supposed be 70 tomorrow!! Hoooray. Long overdue!!!
Isn’t it infuriating when your post disappears for no apparent reason??!
I’m not good at taking selfies!! Lol
Your pics look yummmmy I’ll be right out!!
I wish I could bake like that!
Happy Easter, girls. -
Hi DD!
I am finally done for the night. I’m attaching the pics of the last cookies I did, and the chocolate centerpiece with Tillie in it. She wanted me to take a pic of her with the chocolate….LOL I told her she has the same shirt on she had the other night….LOLHappy Easter! I hope you and your friend have a great dinner, and I want one of those brownies too- my favorite.
Hoppy Easter to all, and to all a good night…..
Adele -
Adele,
You put me to shame with all of your baking for Easter. I have taken the easy lazy way out-brunch at a banquet hall at 11:30 and sandwiches (from a deli tray) and chips and a veggie tray for dinner at our house. If I were you I would have to sleep for two days after Easter was over. Already my arms are aching just from doing some housework around here.
I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow with family and friends.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
I hope that all of you have a Happy Easter. Enjoy your day whether you spend it with family or with friends.
I am having trouble with my computer again. It is doing better right now but want to hurry and get done. I will read all the post when I can get on here and stay on. We will have to go to the internet company Monday and see if they can figure this all out.

Happy Easter to all.
-
Thank you, Sue!
I hope you had a Happy Easter too.
AdeleHope all our Quackers buddies had a good day, with lots of yummies, and a chocolate bunny, or tow!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
I hope your internet issues have been resolved. Also hope you had a great time with your Mom, kids, and grands…and Ron, of course.
Adele -
Hey Gail!
I think you had the right idea. All my bones are with you….LOL
Well, i have to say, I have given “cranky” a whole new meaning. What was I thinking to schedule a PT appointment this afternoon? I am so sore. I have a new name for PT- it is Physical Torture. My hands, arms, back, legs, and everything else that has a joint, is sore. I just got out of the shower, and i am off to the recliner in about a second….after I clean my fishie’s tank.
How did your day go? How is Greg’s back?
DWTS is on in a it- who will be the one who goes home tonight? You may have to tell me, as I may be asleep by then.
Adele -
Hello Everyone,
I hope that you all had a great Easter. Barbara, I love how your Mom dressed you in your Easter outfit even though you were sick in bed. That would be something to always remember.
You all will be surprised to hear that I left the butterfly TSV at the Q. I just did not want those long sleeves for summer. However I did manage to find some new short sleeve shirts which will be coming my way.
Colleen, I hope that you had fun with your Mom and the grands. DD-the same for you and Kay. Sue, you never told us if you had plans but I hope that you had a nice day.
Adele, I love the way that Aizen thought that the Easter bunny came early to the upstairs. Jenny’s kids were confused too as they got up and couldn’t find any baskets (the bunny hid them in the basement this year). However, Jenny said they were pretty philosophical about it and Lachlan wondered if maybe the bunny left them at Gigi’s (me) house by mistake. Of course their second baskets were over here and they finally checked the basement and found the ones at home.
I think I really have figured out the recipe for the perfect Easter with this whole going to brunch and having sandwiches later thing. It makes for an easy fun day instead of a day where i spend all day in the kitchen. I love it.
When we brought dinner over to Jenny’s on Friday Piper came running home from Aunt Kelly’s house (two doors down) wearing underpants and a bat man cape. lol Nice outfit.
So after lots of thoughts I have complied my list of 11 people for my luncheon. now these are the people that I would choose this week. Some other week it may be an entirely different group of people who interest me. Of course we would have a separate lunch for my parents, grandparents and Greg’s parents and grandparents. We would probably pick their brains for family history and just be so happy to see them all again.
Now for my other list in no particular order
1. Robin Williams-I love to laugh and he was so quick witted
2. Winston Churchill-I just think his life experiences are so vast and various
3. Josh Groban-I love his voice and predicted he would be great when I saw him as a teenager on Aly McBeal. (on an aside my nephew just met him and got a selfie on the streets of New York and i am so jealous)
4. Lyn Manuel Miranda-I think he’s a talented composer and I love Broadway shows and he has done two so far
5. Stephen King-Love his books and it’s funny as I am not one for scary movies normally but have followed him from the start
6. Barbara Walters-It seems like she has met everyone who has been important in my lifetime
7. Elie Weisel-Halocaust survivor, author, humanitarian
8. Abraham Lincoln-he oversaw such important changes in our country and the war pitting North against South and sometimes brother against brother
9. Kristen Chenowith-She is just so darn tiny and cute and I love the way she sings-also she is adopted and i have an interest in that subject.
10. A therapy dog and their handler-because I think they do such important work and just in case someone needs a doggie hug during lunch
11. Ron Santo-Mr. Cub-I would love to hear his excitement about last years Cub’s season
12. Me
As I said-next week I might want a completely different group of people but these are my choices for right now.
Anyone else ready with their list?
Gail -
Adele,
What is this series of three shots in the back. I’m not familiar with them. Greg just had the cortisone shots in the back. What is in these shots?
Gail -
Hey Gail!
the series of 3 shots are a different name than cortisone. They put a cushion between the joints. There are 2 different brands, and of course, I cannot remember the names of them. They are given a week apart, until the 3 are done. I have had them in my knee too, and they take away all the pain, as long as the damage is not sever enough to warrant surgery. They have not been out for too long- maybe 8 to 10 years? I have to have prior approval from my insurance company for them- takes about a week. I have had them once a year for my left knee, and so far, have not needed more, or surgery. I swear, if you catch it early enough, you can stave off surgery for years. If you said the name, I would know….LOL
That is funny about the kids and their Easter baskets. Good idea to have them in the basement, as Jenny could hide them before Easter, and they would not know.
I forgot I got another “fart blaster” for Aizen- this one came from Chinaberry. Well, it was a huge hit, like the Minnion one from years ago. We were all hysterical at Aizen and the blaster.
I wish I could get all these people out for a brunch. They are just not am people, and when I tried before, all of them were late. The places on Easter get very annoyed if your people are late, as they are booked to the moon and back, as they say. They also double the prices of the cost per person. The first time that happened to us, I was shocked, and glad I brought a credit card, just in case. We never did a holiday brunch again.
I love your list. I love Stephen King, Lynn Manuel, and Barbara Walters. With everyone;’s names, our list could get bigger and bigger.
It got chilly here again- it is in the 40’s.
So today, the new file cabinet is being delivered for the 3rd time from Macy’s. I hope this one has no damage.

Gail I did not mention Easter plans as there were none. I was alone as usual. I did make a ham loaf, mac & cheese and asparagus. I bought coconut cake. I am still eating leftovers. I did freeze some for when I am recovering from my knee surgery.
I did not buy the TSV either. A lot of people were complaining about long sleeves in summer and that they are different sizes top & bottom. So not sure how many they sold. No matter what they have some that are unhappy. Guess you cannot please everyone. I liked the jeans with flowers but they are too long for me. I ask Angel if they would come in short length and she said no. I understand as you cannot make everything in all sizes
Angel went to see The Chew today. She is not sure when it will air but I know some of you watch that so look for her.
I guess I will miss the next TSV as my surgery is the 10th and the TSV is the 12th so don’t know if I will be home that quick. -
Hi Sue!
I love mac and cheese, way more than ham. I find the ham too salty, so I do no have a large helping. A friend of mine has made fresh ham, that cooks for 8 hours. I would say that is less salty. I would love to try one.
Sorry you were alone, but, it is good that you have some things prepared for when you come home.
Make sure you remind us about the date of your surgery, so we will know we will not hear for a few days. It is 2 days after Tillie’s birthday, so I will try to remember it that way. God help our aging memories!
We will all be saying an extra prayer for you the day of your surgery, and for a speedy recovery. You are a strong woman, and I know you will do well.
Hope you are having a good night.

Forgot to say….
Thanks for the notice on The Chew having April on. I have set my DVD to record all of them, so I make sure I see it.

Hi ladies! hopefully this jet pack will be replaced by tomorrow. This is really a pain. I will have a lot to catch up on. Hope that everyone had a great Easter. We had a nice day and no rain just a little in the morning. Will write to everyone tomorrow.

Sue,
Perhaps you will have a chance to preorder the next TSV if it is something that you like. Heck you could order off your cell phone in the hospital if you wanted also.
Maybe now that you are retired you could join some clubs or some seniors groups or church groups or something and then maybe in the future you would have other people to share holidays with if you would want to. It’s hard to meet new people I know-too bad there weren’t more woman where you worked.
I liked those embroidered pants also but even the petite lengths are too long at 28 and 1/2 inches. The ankle pants work best now. You are right-you can’t make everyone happy all the time-but the long sleeves with shorts and capris didn’t even make sense to me-although Barbara bought them because she likes the long sleeves because of cold AC in summertime-so different people have different reasons for buying. That’s okay-I skipped the TSV but found some other short sleeve shirts to get instead. I loved the dog Americana shirt. Cute!
Do you think you will be using a walker when you come home from the hospital? Also I was wondering if there are stairs in your apartment-or building? How will you get to and from the hospital? Sorry for all the questions as you seem to have all your bases covered but I was just wondering. I hope that you have a very speedy recovery and will be walking pain free in no time. I’m sure it will help your quality of life to be able to get around without pain. I find the more pain I have the less I want to do and that’s not really good as the less we move around the harder everything becomes. It’s sort of a vicious circle.
Anyway we will all be praying for you on here and probably all the Quackers from Facebook too. Are you in that Quacker cruising Facebook group too? I don’t even know if they still have that as i am not a Facebooker.
Gail -
Colleen,
What’s a jet pack? I picture you flying around like the Jetsons-but I don’t get how that can fix your computer. lol
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I hope the file cabinet was delivered in good shape, finally.
I’m thinking that Greg would not be a candidate for those shots as his problem is a bulging disc and stenosis in the spinal cord-i think those shots are more for bone on bone situations. I know one brand name is synvisc-that was the first and now i think there is another more recent one also. My MIL had that in her knee.
Lachlan has a Minion fart blaster and I must admit I enjoy giving it the occasional toot myself. lol
We are lucky the place that we have been going for brunch on Easter is in a banquet hall so the tables are far apart and the cost is half of what they charge in the local restaurants-probably because they don’t offer the ham and beef slicing tables-just breakfast foods. But it is perfect for us with the three little kids who don’t eat that much anyway. They like the sundae bar the best. lol They have brunch at the same place for Mother’s Day and the cost is higher as then they have the meat tables also.
I hear thunder in the distance so we must be in for some storms coming up today. it was nice and sunny earlier.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is doing fine. My eye isn’t as bad as it was, but it’s still red under it!
I haven’t read all the posts as my computer is on the fritz.
I hope you’re having nicer weather than we are. Last year at this time we were in the upper 80s, on the way to the hottest April on record. This year we haven’t even had a 70 degree day!!! It’s pouring rain today!!
I hope you had a wonderful Easter. I cooked dinner for Kay & I & we had a great day.
I’m doing this on my phone & it’s a lot more tedious as the keyboard is a lot smaller than the computer. Smaller print too!
I guess that’s all for now. Just wanted to let you know I’m still around.
Take care
Dd -
Hi Everyone,
Well we finally have our computer back. The jet pack is out wifi. We have to have hot spot to have the wifi. The jet pack on the bottom was all swollen and was a mess, They said that it must have got hot or something. So now it is a good one and it sits flat on the desk and does not rock.lol
That is funny about Jenny’s kids not being able to find the Easter baskets. They must have had fun looking for them. Lachlan was smart thinking that they were at your house. I guess the kids were all dressed up and looked really cute. Sounds like you had a really nice day. That is nice that you got to go to brunch and have them over later. Do they hunt for eggs at your house or Jenny’s?
Adele, I needed to be at your house for Easter. You had so many baked goods. All that I made was cream puffs and they ate all of them. I made thirty of them and they all really liked them. I made vanilla and banana the banana went first, Aliza really liked them. Aizen looks like a new boy with his hair cut. He looks so cute. Tillie really looked pretty in her top. That is a lot cuter when you see it on then it did on the tv. It was nice that she was holding the plate of chocolate. Sounds like you had a good day also.
DD I am glad that your eye is better and it is just red under the eye. Hopefully it will all be gone soon. I love all the pictures that you have been posting. The one on the beach looked really good.
Barbara, Hope that you had a great Easter also. Hope that Joey and Lisa came over for dinner and spent the day with you. Did you hear from Neal and his family. It would have been fun to see Colin with his Easter bunny or candy that the Bunny left for him. It is so nice to see the kids even if it is on the phone. You can see how they grow and change.
We had a really nice Easter. Melissa and her family did not come because Ethan was sick. I think that he is nervous about them having to move. He has never been very far away from the family and he is not liking it at all.
Aliza looked so cute Easter. She wore a white dress and little white shoes with a bow on it. She also had a necklace on that had white beads with a lite blue bow. The sweater she wore over the dress was a lite blue also. She did not bother the necklace the whole time she was here. That really surprised me. The older girls were dressed differently one wore jeans and the other wore a dress. They both looked really cute. Owen just wore shorts and a shirt.
The house has been so empty with my mom gone and all the kids gone. Mom stayed for about four days and she was not going to but changed her mind. It was nice to just sit and chat with her.
DD it was nice that you and Kay got to spend the day together. Glad that you had a nice time.
Well that is about all from here. Hope everyone has a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
We have a black box thingy in our house for our wi-fi-it’s probably the same as your jet pack. Do you have a dish for the wi-fi too? We have a dish for that and a dish for TV. Remember when the TV dishes were enormous things in the back yard. Things have improved since then. The only thing is we still have to have a landline as cell phone connections can be very spotty out in the country. Jenny and Adam just have cell phones-their kids have never lived in a house with a land line. It’s funny that little kids will never have seen a pay phone or a telephone booth. Where is superman going to change now? Of course they never would have seen “that” superman anyway. Did you ever have a party line when you were a kid? I remember we did when we first moved to Cary. That was weird having to wait until the other people were off the line to use the phone. That’s when the first two numbers were a letter exchange. I can still remember what our number was back then. I often wonder if anyone has that number now. I will have to google it. That was in the days before area codes.
I think Jenny just hides baskets for the kids. We don’t hide their baskets here but we do hide plastic Easter eggs with candy and money in them. That all stems back to when i was a kid and my Dad would tape money to the eggs that were boiled and dyed and hide them for us.
Aliza’s outfit sounded so cute. I can’t believe that she kept the necklace on too. Piper had on a fancy dress but Kendall just had on her regular tank top and leggings and Lachlan had on a nice shirt and cargo pants.
I’m glad that your Mom stayed for the four days so you had lot of time to visit. There’s nothing like sitting around and chatting with your Mom. My Mom and I always stayed up after Greg went to bed and had a glass of wine and talked and talked. Especially since once I was an adult I only saw her once or twice a year.
Poor Ethan-wasn’t he sick over spring break too? Did Stephen get reassigned-since you mentioned that you thought Ethan might be afraid of moving and maybe that was making him sick. One thing I learned from Kim because her Dad was in the Air force is that military kids learn how to make friends easily since they move around a bit. However, that would be harder on a shier type of kid too. I hope he feels better soon.

Hi DD,
I’m glad your eye is doing better. Sounds like you and Kay had a good Easter. I hope it included a little chocolate. lol

Well I am hoping that I will be able to get around better after surgery so I can get out and do more things. I just worry that it has been to long and the strength won’t come back but I am going to work hard with therapy.
I have had friends invite me to share holidays with them but I do not go now because of not being able to get around. But also I think holidays are for family so do not want to intrude. Part of that comes from growing up we never went anywhere on holidays and never had people come to our place.
I put the dog shirt in my cart but did not order it. Maybe later if it is still available. I don’t know about the next TSV. I do not have a smart phone just an old model flip phone. I do not need a phone 24/7 so I just have it for emergencies. I am taking my tablet so can probably see it on there. I don’t know how secure it would be to order from there.
No stairs here I made sure of that after falling down the stairs at my old place and breaking my ankle. I will need to use a walker for a while then a cane for a while. To help with balance. I have a walker in fact 2 one with wheels and one without. I also have a cane. I put a raised toilet seat with handles on and a rail on the tub. So I have that prepared. My brother has agreed to take me to the hospital and bring me home but that is all he will do. He made it clear to me and the hospital that he would not be checking on me once I am home. They wondered if I had some one to check and make sure I was okay. I think I will ask my neighbor to get my mail at first for me so she will see I am okay when she drops off the mail and the therapists coming will also see that I am okay. I am surprise GF will allow Sam to drive me to the hospital she has him on a short leash. I don’t know how he stands being controlled by her or why she would be so jealous of him seeing or talking to me. All I know is I was told to stay out of their business (I was never in it) and not to call. It is so hard on me as he is all the family I have left. But he just does not seem to care about me. At first I tried I was going to have them for a meal but everything I wanted to make she could not eat. So thought just get things from the deli and have a picnic that did not work either because it had to be when and where she wanted. So I just gave up. I do not know what else to do. I just don’t understand why you cannot have a GF and a family too. I know I would never be with someone that told me who I could see or talk to.
Anyway I will be fine and will be working hard to get up and around as quick as possible. -
Hi Sue!
I wish I had someone in Penn who could stop by to visit you. I do not know anybody there.
I bet your friends do not feel the same way. from time to time, we have had people who were having a holiday alone share it with us. We were thrilled they were not alone, and at the table with us. I bet your friends would feel the same way about you.
I am glad you do not have any stairs. That make sit a lot easier.
You will be surprised at how you can get the strength back in your muscles. I know you will be much better after it is all over, and have a new, no pain, stronger knee. You will be so much happier, and more mobile. We are all pulling for you.
I have no idea why people are so mean. You certainly do not pose any threat to her relationship with your brother. Actually, you add to it. A SIL is a nice thing to have. She is the real loser here. I really hate mean people. There is no need to be anything less than kind to everyone you meet.
It looks like you have almost all the tools you need. I have one more suggestion. A long handled sponge to reach your feet in the bathtub. you can use it for any hard to reach areas, after the surgery. You will lose some ability to wash, just after the surgery, as you will not be able to safely bend. It is also good to reach the hard to reach areas on your back.
You are in my prayers every night. I know you are going to do great.
Oh…forgot this- the home health aid will come 3 times a week. The nurse and PT do not come as frequently. But, every person’s situation is different. As you get better, they lessen the visits.
Adele -
Hi Colleen!
I am so glad your mom stayed for the 4 days. What a great treat for you. I can imagine how quiet the house is now.
Thank you for the compliments on Tillie and her shirt. She, of course, had on the same shirt as I did….LOL
They did have a good time with all the goodies. the mini cheesecakes were all gone. I should have made a double batch of them, and eliminated a cookie. Plus, it would have been easier, too.
Amanda came over yesterday, and visited for a while before she went to work. She took a lot of the pizza Ghiena, and cookies, of course. She looked tired, and pale. But, she was thrilled with the tips she made on Marathon Monday.
I am glad your internet is fixed, and that they gave you new equipment. the newer more up-dated equipment always makes such a huge difference.
Aliza’s dress sounds adorable. She must have looked so cute, you wanted to take a bite out of her….LOL
Well, yesterday my new electric mandoline arrived. I hope i can figure it out. I may watch the video again on the Q. It looked a lot easier on the demonstration….LOL Did anyone else get one? I also got one for Heather for Mothers Day. God help us!
Hope your day is sunny- heard the middle of the country is having bad weather today.
Hey….did anyone see our Gronk interrupt Spicer’s daily briefing yesterday? He is the funniest football player in the world. I love that kid.
Adele -
Hi DD!
I am so happy your eye is getting better. That is great news.
It is nice that you and Kay had a good Easter together. She is a good friend to you, and it is fabulous you are in the same building, as the weather never matters for a good visit.
I hope your internet gets fixed, as the phones are a lot smaller.
It is all cloudy and yucky over here. It is in the low 50’s. Tomorrow, we are having a rain storm. Yuck. I am glad your weather is good. You always feel so much better when the sun is out.
Adele
PS….Have you seen “Trail and Error”? It is so funny. I love that show. Sherry Shepard is on it. -
Hi Gail!
I have the same condition in my back, and they did the shots for me. The last series I had over a year ago were for the bulging disc above the repair that was done, and so far, I have not needed another set. I hope I did not jinx myself. Have him ask, as they made a huge difference in my pain level. i remembered the name- I had Ortho Visc.
I hope the storms were not bad, and you are all ok.
So, when they delivered the new file cabinet, it was good. However, the top drawer did not open. They finally got it to open, and GAry was able to open and close it himself. I made them call Macy’s, and told the girl to add a note about the isuse, as when GAry fills the drawer with all hsi stuff, I am afriad it may not open. I swear, if that happens, I will return the entire thing.
Read my post to the others for all the rest of the up-dated info over here…..LOL
Hope your sun is shining- we are losing ours for a few days again. Yuck.
Adele -
Hello everyone! It sounds like we each had good holidays, and I know the little ones must have just looked darling whether they chose dressy or the more “casual” look for their outfits. It is so sweet to see them so excited and having so much fun looking for the Easter treats. Gail, I remember the party line telephones, and how you would have to keep lifting the reciever to check to see if the line was open. It is so funny, but I know what our phone number was way back then too, and yet; I forget what happened yesterday now. Jerry and I were reminising the other day about when we were putting in a culvert on our land across the front of the drive so water could flow through the pipe we were laying and we could drive over the pipe and water would run down to the creek. It was such hard work; but we both have such good memories of that time. When we first had one of those huge disk in our yard for the TV; that thing was so big and you saw one it seemed like in everyone’s yard. Some of our neighbors actually would decorate them or paint them like they would be a big sunflower or smiley face.
We had a great dinner. Joey and Lisa came up and the baby skyped us. He was full of energy that evening. We played peep eye, and he has learned to wave. That really tickled Neal to see him wave at us. It was his first time to see it too. Sarah is to begin her new job the 1st of May; and has to attend a month of orientation; Monday through Friday. Jerry asked Neal what about the baby? and I tried to hush Jerry for asking personal questions, but he expressed concern about Colin needing someone trustworthy. Neal hesitated, and I could really tell he didn’t want to outright say their plans, but he finally said, “Dad, Sarah and I have decided that Sarah’s Mom can come and spend a month with us and watch the baby” You would have thought that Neal had threw a pie at Jerry; and I knew what Jerry was doing, because he had offered right from the beginning of finding out about her new job and the month of orientation; had said I could come keep Colin and help them out. I have known in my heart that Sarah would not choose me and that somehow she would decide on another way to have the baby taken care of; but Jerry remains upset. I have just had to put my feelings aside; because as I have tried to tell Jerry, as long as the baby is seen about; that this is all that matters, and that even though I would love to be with the baby that I put my own feelings aside just to know he is being seen about. I know I sound a lot stronger than I am; but if I can’t change a hurt, I just can’t and I hope I have shed all the tears I am going to over this whatever it is called, between me and Sarah.
DD, glad your eye is better. That must have been so uncomfortable. Sounds like you had fun with your friend on Easter. I enjoy your pictures too.
Sue, you will be in my prayers for your surgery and your recovery afterwards. You have really put lots of thought into how to manage after too. One suggestion for your consideration that helped me after my stroke, was since my right foot and leg was weaker, I put one of those seats in the shower that also works in a bath so when I would get tired of standing, or just couldn’t reach parts of me, I could just sit and rest a minute and think of how to get it done. Your idea of the bath products with a handle was very smart thinking. Those things help so much. And one of those reacher things that act like an extension of your arm It really came in handy for me since it seemed like I dropped just about everything I would pick up or be holding on to. I know you are going to do good, and I am so sorry that you are worried about not having close family to call on during this time. It is certainly something that I can relate to and I don’t like to know that anyone else is having to feel the same way. But you are such a smart independent woman who has always been there to help others, and sometimes people just don’t realize that we strong ones can need help too. From my past nursing experience; mabey this will help you. During your few days in the hospital post surgery; begin from your very first day of feeling able to talk with your Doctor AND your nurse, and tell them you need to speak to the occupational therapist as well as the physical therapist, and the social worker assigned to you, and explain clearly so they understand your situation of not having ANY help once you are discharged, and how you require post hospitilation nurse or therapist assigned to your home at least 3 to 4 times per week to take care of your “at home” care and needs, such as grocery shopping, social activities (even if it’s just playing cards with you, or watching a movie, and cooking you a meal, or have home meal delivery set up for you, house cleaning, if needed) you go into the hospital with your list of what you know you will need help with. All of these things are provided, you just have to ask sometimes, because people “assume” there will be someone there for you, and they need to know. Not trying to be pushy, so forgive me is I have overstepped my bounds, but just wanted to put this out for you to consider.
We are doggie sitting this evening. Joey and Lisa have gone to Lowe’s for something, so we have Ruby with us. She loves to visit us; since I always feed her the fancy canned doggie food, and she is used to dry food at home. Guess I spoil the grandpets too. LOL
Take care everyone, and have a great evening. Barbara -
Hi Gail,
Our Wifi is thru our cell phone company. So we do not have a dish we use the towers close to us. I guess that is how it works. We also have a land line. Sometimes we cannot get reception here either. I love living in the country but it does have it draw backs.
That is sad to think that super man has no place to change now that telephone booths are gone. The grands are really missing out on a lot. No land lines, no phone booths and no super man. I guess that is why we do not see him anymore he has no place to put his cape on. I can remember party lines. They were really funny. It would be embarrassing to pick up the phone and they were talking. We had a person that use to fight with who ever she was talking to on the phone.
It seems like the kids do not like getting all dressed up when they get a little older. We hide plastic eggs here also. We usually give them all money so it will not be a problem if just one of the grands finds all the eggs with the money. We had that happen one year and so we started doing it this way. I bet Piper looked really cute in her dress. Did she have the patten leather shoes on also? Aliza had some type of cloth shoe on because she is so little. She did wear tennis shoes outside though.
Mom and I sit up and talk til really late also. It is nice to just sit and talk to her and talk about family and things that we use to do. I know that it is hard on her with all her family gone. Her sisters and brother all have died and she has said that she is not now all alone. We all tell her that we are still around. It is hard for her because now the nieces and nephews are starting to die. In my uncles family three of his children have died. I know that it really bothers her.
Melissa and Stephen will be moving in September. He is going for some type of training to be a recruiter and then they will be reassigned. Ethan does not to go. He wants to stay here with his cousins and family. They have been stationed where they are at for over 9 yrs so it will be hard for him. It will be hard for all of us.
Well that is about all from here. Do you have anything planned for the week-end? I think we are just going to chill, It will be nice for a change.
Colleen -
Hi Sue,
You will be surprised how much strength that you will regain after the surgery. You are really determined to get better and if you keep that attitude that will be great. You will do really good with therapy because you really want to get out and do things again.
You should go with friends for the holidays. They would not ask you to come if they did not want you to come. We have friends that come here if they have no where else to go. We enjoy their company.
I am sorry to hear about your brother treating you that way. Some time they forget that this is the only family they have and you do need each other. It is nice to have each other for moral support.
You will do fine. You may have more people stop in to see you then you think. You will be in our prayers.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
You always bake so much. That would be hard decision to make on which one to have. If I wasn’t diabetic it would be hard to just eat one. Your meals and all that you cook are always so good.
I hope that Amanda is taking care of herself. She does not want to get sick and have to miss a lot of work again. Is she working at the new place now? Hope that she made a lot of tips that day. It is nice when everyone eats all the sweets and there are none here for me to snack on. We always put this big bowl of candy on the table for Easter and we still have most of it left. I put a bunch of it in the freezer. That way Ron can have some of it when he wants it.
That is funny that Tillie always wears the same top as you. Great minds think alike. You should have posted a picture of you and Tillie is you look alike shirts. My mom and I have look alike shirts but I put a different one on then she had on. She wore the one with the scalloping around the neckline and the flowers and I wore a rabbit shirt. We gave her the shirt for Mothers day last year. She wanted the top from the tsv but not the bottoms. So thought that I would get the set and give her the top and keep the bottoms. They did not have the one she wanted in our size. So will have to keep watching and see if they get them back in.
I do not have the electric mandolin here. Hope that you figure it out and that you like it. Maybe one of the other girls have it and can tell you more about it then I can.
We had rain this afternoon and then it stopped and the sun came out and that was it for today. We are supposed to get more tomorrow but do not know how bad it will be. As long as our electric stays on we are okay. Glad that you had some sun today.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I never use a mandolin as I am afraid sometime I won’t be paying attention and will slice the skin right off my fingers. This is why Greg has never let me use the the lawn mower or other slicy type things. It actual works in my favor as I have never mowed a lawn although if something happened to him i would be in trouble as I really have no clue. lol Anyway, no mandolin advice from me. Sorry.
I can’t believe that after the third file cabinet you still had trouble opening the drawer. Good idea about having them keep a note on file about it.
I hope Amanda is at least trying to get enough rest. I know it’s hard but I don’t want her to have a relapse.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
We get our wifi through our phone cell service too-but we still use a dish. We must live too far away from a tower or something.
We have worked out a system where the grands get the eggs with the same amount of money by either initialing the eggs or having a system where they can only find a certain amount of eggs each. It can get a little complicated. lol
Piper wore flip flops with her Easter dress. She wanted to be dressy casual. lol
I’ll bet it is hard for your Mom seeing some of her nieces and nephews passing away. I guess the longer we live the more of that we see.
I know it will be hard for you when Stephen gets reassigned. Is there a possibility they could stay where they are? Poor Ethan has a lot of time to worry about it also. I know it will turn out okay for him but I’m sure it’s hard to convince him of that. Here’s the bright side though. If Stephen will be working as a recruiter he probably won’t be deployed anymore. So he will be remaining stateside.
We don’t have any plans for this weekend. We’ll see what we find to do.
Gail -
Barbara,
You are right that Colin’s well being is the most important thing and I’m glad that he will be taken care of. However, that doesn’t mean that your feelings aren’t hurt. I wish they would have thought about splitting the month up or something at least but I guess they didn’t want to have to have two people having the expense of flying out so maybe they were trying to be considerate. Also, maybe they were not sure if you could fly or not yet. I know this doesn’t make things any easier. I guess maybe you and Jerry will just have to plan a trip out there sometime. I know it’s difficult for Jerry to travel but maybe you could figure some way of doing it. If only we could just teleport ourselves like on Star Trek. It would make things easier on us older folks.
You had lots of good advice for Sue. It sure helps having a social worker and a nurse on this board. You guys know who and what to ask.
Gail -
Sue,
It sounds like you have things well planned out for after your surgery. Adele and Barbara have good advice also. I think that you will be able to get your leg strength back. They say it’s never too late. It will be nice to be able to do things that you couldn’t before.
I’m with Colleen-I would accept some of those Holiday invitations in the future. Holidays are not just for family-they are for sharing also. In this era of families being spread all across the country people come together and make their own groups to celebrate together so I hope that next time you will reconsider.
If I really wanted to order from the Quacker shows when i was in the hospital I think I would look at the stuff on my tablet and use my phone to call the customer service or automated ordering. You can tell that my area of expertise is shopping. lol Barbara and Adele may be able to help you with the surgery and recuperation but I can help you not to miss Quacker shopping. lol
I swear every family has someone who likes to cause trouble. Greg’s oldest brothers wife has cut them off from the rest of the family and no one knows why-It’s just crazy stuff!
I’m sorry your brother’s girlfriend is such a negative influence. She obviously doesn’t realize how important family ties are. I always say there is enough love to go around for everyone and there is no reason not to share. The situation must make you sad but sometimes no matter how hard we try there is nothing that can be done to change it. At that point we have to say that they are the ones with the problem not us.
Anyway, you have lots of support from all of us and you will feel us sending you good vibes from all across this country.
Gail -
Hey Gail!
Great advice on not missing the TSV. I would never have thought of using the phone to order….LOL
That God we all have each other.
Well, I almost ordered the same shirt I already have today. the one with the spray of stars and stripes, with short sleeves. This time I was smart- searched my history before I clicked on it. Sure enough- got it last summer.
This electric mandoline is fabulous. there is no way you can touch the blades while it works. that is the only reason it is safe for me. I had a great one, and cut myself the 2 times I used it. Bobby threw it out as they did not like blood in their food….LOL Got no complaints on the home fries I made last night.
So, THE HUSBAND is in the office, putting his stuff back. I just asked him if he missed me, and I got a very loud…..”NO.” he does not want me in there, messing with his crap….LOL
It is pouring here, and my poor hands are sore….LOL LOL
Adele -
Hey Colleen
Is your SIL getting a new assignment? I hope not overseas. We will all have to start praying, fast. With all the threats being hurled at all the middle Eastern countries, and Korea right now, it is just not safe for any of our military.
The mandoline was a success. I re-read the instruction manual, and watched the video on the Q. Between the 2, I got it. I made home fries, and they loved them- with meatloaf. Simple, but good. Served it with a salad. Now, I have to figure out where to put it, as the counters are getting crowded.
I have a lot of chocolate left too. But, Tillie and Bobby are having a ball after every dinner with the left overs…LOL
no matter what I wear, it seems Tillie picks the same shirt I have on just about every time. It is funny. I should have taken a pic of us.
Amanda’s new place is a very old Boston restaurant, so it’s established. It does not open until 5 for dinner, only. She is still working at the other restaurant, until she gets more hours, and is still the manager. She told the owner she does not want to manage anymore, as it is too much, so he is looking for someone to do that role. I talked to her today, she was resting before she goes in to the new place tonight. I worry about her.
It is so gross here- rain and very damp.
Adele -
Hi Barbara
that is good advice you gave to Sue. The hospital needs to know her situation, so they will provide more help for the first few weeks. Her nurse will be her best advocate. The reachy thing is another thing I forgot. We have 2 of them.
Funny, Tillie and I were talking about the party lines a while back, and about all the changes she has seen in her 90, almost 91 years. One can only imagine what these kids will see. Our imaginations can run wild…..
that was great that Joey and Lisa came to dinner. I pray they continue to get along, and make it. Hopefully they will marry, and then you will get another Itty Bitty- this one will be a lot closer.
I am so sorry you had to hear that news on Easter, just when you were all having a good time. Of course your feelings were hurt. I swear, I think our husband’s get their feelings hurt more than we do. We have a way of compartmentalizing things, and they just do not. I continue to feel a relationship with a DIL is one of the hardest things to maintain. Why do women feel jealous of their husband’s relationship with their Mom’s? If they treat their Mom’s well, they will treat their wives well. They just do not get it, and it sucks. No better word than that for today, hope yo are not offended.
I hope your weather is good,a nd that you are out in your yard, enjoying the spring. Only a worm would have fun in our yard today….LOL
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. A friend of mine passed away Thurs. evening from heart & kidney failure. We took care of the same elderly woman. Cindy & her mother would take over for me on my weekends off.
Her daughter, Hallie refers to me as her aunt, even though we’re not related. Cindy referred to me as her best friend.
Anyway it’s been a rough week for everyone. It’s not like we didn’t know. She’d been ill for quite some time.
On a different note, we Finally hit the 70 degree mark today!!! Won’t last long though. Rain is already on the way. Rain showers will be around all next week, ickkkkkk!
Have a wonderful weekend!! -
Hi DD,
I am so sorry to hear about your friend. How nice that her daughter calls your aunt. She will be glad to have you there to help her thru all of this. Will remember her family and you in my prayers.
I think that we have your rain here. It has been raining here for two days and cold here. I hope that the weather warms up again. We went from in the upper 70’s to the low 50’s. It is supposed to rain all day today.
You are in my prayers.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
Stephen will either got to Florida or Texas as of right now. That could change any time though. He goes to school in May and then they will decide where they will send him. He will leave Missouri because he has been here for too long. They just built a new recruiting station in Farmington and we are hoping that they will decide to send him there but no chance. This assignment will last for three years and then he will go back to what he did before.
That is funny that Piper was dressed dressy casual. She is such a little cutie. I bet she had a really good time on Easter. The kids all seem to like looking for the eggs.
Are you getting rain where you are. It has been raining here for two days. It also got cold again. This weather is crazy. Warm one day and cold the next. I am hoping that it warms up again soon. This weather sure is crazy.
They have put a couple of towers out here. They had to because a lot of people could not watch tv because of the new digital system they installed. So they had to install the towers so people could use other ways to watch tv. It was really bad because they had to just watch their vcrs because they could not watch anything else. Some places they could not even get reception because of where they lived.
Ethan will get use to moving. It just takes him awhile. It was funny we talked to him last night He was trying to find a place to stay overnight because Kaylee was having a friend over for the night. I guess they bug him all the time. He is so funny. I hope that he found a friend to stay with so he could get away from the girls. We live to far away to go and pick him up and bring him here for the night.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good day.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Stephen is going to recruiting school for awhile. Then he will be going to another state. So it will be nice that he will not be going over seas for awhile. He will be a recruiter for three years. Then after that we have no idea where he will be going.
I do not have any room for anything on the counters or the cabinets. We have the whole kitchen full of stuff. We are going to try to clean out everything in this place and either take it to the dump or to just donate to some organization. Just as long as it is out of here.
I am glad that you like your new mandolin. It sure will make it easy on cutting up vegetables. It will really be nice when you need to cut up onions. That is one thing that I do not like to have to cut up.
Well the old saying is great minds think alike. So you and Tillie both have great minds. That is funny how both of you wear the same tops all the time. You must have a lot of the same clothes. Quacker has such cute tops. Wish that I would have bought that top that Tillie had on in the picture. That was really cute. When I saw it on tv did not think that it looked that cute. The stripes look good on.
Amanda is a busy person. She has taken on a lot working at two different restaurants. That is a lot of work. I hope that she likes that restaurant in Boston but it will be hard on her if it is only open for the dinner hour. It will be hard to get enough hours. It will be a long drive for her.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good day.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am glad that you could see Colin for Easter. That must have been nice for and Jerry. How cute that you got to play with him over the phone. I bet he is so cute. I am sorry that Neal and Sarah hurt your feelings. They just did not think I guess. Maybe they thought that it would be too long for you to be away from Jerry. They knew that Jerry would not leave his mom for that long. Sometimes it is easier to have your mom with you. She must be really missing her mom. She could have split up the month but like Gail said that would be a lot of expense. I am sorry that they did that to you and Jerry.
Glad that you had dinner with Lisa and Joey. It is nice that they live close to you and Jerry. Maybe one day you will have a grand child close to you and you can spoil that child. Sounds like Colin knows you when he sees you on the phone. It is so nice that you can see him that way.
We are getting a lot of rain here. Hoping that it quits soon and we will see the sun again. It is cold here also. It is not going to get over 50 today. Hope that tomorrow is nice and we can get out and do something.
well that is about all from here. Have a good day.
Colleen -
Hey DD
I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your friend. You must be devastated. These things are never easy. Sorry never seems to be enough to say. you and her family, are in my prayers. I hope you can be comforted by all the happy memories you had of her, and her family.
It is in the 60’s here today.
I am attaching a pic of Bobby’s birthday cake- today is his birthday. The cake is in the fridge.
I made such a mess here, I could cry. I was tired, and after I was done, and putting everything away, I dropped the Tupperware container of confectionery sugar. I told Gary not to use the Dyson, but he grabbed it, and that is ruined too. The powder sugar is everywhere inside it, and it sounds weird. I tried to clean it, as best as I could. I would say we ruined it. Took the whole thing apart, cleaned the filter, but you see white stuff everywhere inside the motor part. I even rinsed the wand, which I know I should not have done, as that is not supposed to get wet- there was no other way to get the sugar out of it. Gary is going to try to see if he can get the motor, and floor brush apart.
Now, i am exhausted, the floor has that sticky sound all over the place, and everyone is coming shortly for Bobby;s birthday. then add, that I am cranky, because of what I did, and the mess I made.
Still, no where near as bad as what you are goign through. I hope I at least gave you a chuckle….there was white dust flying everywhere. while GAry was attempting to vacuum it up. Every time he stopped the vacuum, dust fell out of it onto another place. It owuld have made a great You Tube video, of 2 old disabled people making a mess, and yelling at each other. He kept yelling at me not to move, as I was full of the sugar too. My neighbors must think we are killing each other in here.
Bobby came home and we told him what happened, and he said…..”I cannot leave you two alone for one minute, can I?”
I hope I gave you a chuckle!!
Adele -
Hi Colleen!
Read my post to DD for what I did now. I am sitting here, waiting for the kids to arrive, and my hands are killing me, and I am so tired I could fall asleep right here. I dropped a whole Tupperware container of confectionery sugar. If anyone else had made that mess, I would have killed them.
Poor Gary tried to help and no matter what he did, the mess kept getting bigger. that is the worst thing to spill, and I did it real good.
I will pray your SIL does not get sent overseas, or to Florida. At least if he is in Texas, they are a little closer to you. Florida is a long way from your state. No matter what, I pray he and the family will be safe, and all our service men and women are safe. It is so hard when they have to move all the time.
I have moved the mandoline 3 times. Still not sure where it will look the best. My counters are also full of cooking appliances. We neevr have enough counter space, that is for sure.
Amanda is the only one who will not be here today. She is working until midnight.
I hope your weather is good, and that you are having a good weekend.
I am using paper plates today for bobby’s birthday. Chinese is what we will eat, and I am glad about that- no work for me. i am way too tired for it right now. Wait until the kids here what I did, they will be rolling in the aisles, as they say.
Adele -
Well, ladies, I had written a LONG story to you all yesterday and was just finishing it when poof, off it goes into wherever land, and I just wanted to cry. So I will try again today, and try not to be so mouthy; so mabey it will stay. DD. sorry for the loss of your friend. Hope it will bring you some comfort to know how her daughter thinks of you as her aunt; and that has to mean because they are so fond of you and that you are such a good person. Prayers for you and her family. I guess this may not be appropriate to say; but losing someone we love quickly has really made me want to live each day with that thought in my mind, and love life even though it may not be the best of days or the best of circumstances happening that day. Does that make any sense? I know that is helping me now with the “why?” questions that surround me each day about my DIL and other things that I just don’t understand. I try to remind myself how very very fortunate I am, and to just let life happen and count my blessings instead of being negative. It surely is hard but I try.
Sue, I am sure that you are going to really have lots more people than you think you will that are going to check on you after your surgery. You have helped so many and kind acts do come back. It is going to be so nice for you to have pain free knee. You will be able to do the Angel kick after your healing time is over! Did you all get to have dinner with Angel on the cruise? I bet she is so friendly. She seems so happy and does such a great job with the clothing. I am so sorry your SIL is not helping you and your brother is following her lead instead of taking care of you. One day; I bet he looks back and asks himself why did he do this. But you just keep being you and you are going to be fine. After all Cuddles will be there to see about you, and she will comfort you all the time.
Adele, that spilling the powdered sugar sounds JUST like something would happen here to me and Jerry. I know you and Gary were exhausted by the time you finally got all that cleaned up. On the bright side; the cake looks fabulous! Please rest and enjoy the party and the take out. You all deserve it. I have a funny story for you. I saw where you had a mandolin, and would you believe that when I was reading it; I thought that you had the musical instrument not the food chopper! How crazy am I? All I could picture at the time was you plucking the strings of that thing. LOL I guess I am just a little slow. I almost got one when they showed it since the main reason I don’t have one in cutting myself too.
I sing to the baby when he skypes us, itsy bitsy spider and if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands. He just laughs and makes his little noises. He is learning to wave bye bye too. We sent him some books, and we bought two of them just alike; so we could keep one and then read to him from our book as Neal turns the pages on his book out there. Mainly he wants to chew on his ha ha.
Better close for now before this thing takes it off without me knowing it. I meant to ask the other day if any of you have any special travel plans for this summer? Jerry and I are looking into train trips out California way. Lots to find out though; especially about Jerrys back issues. He got so sad the other day just thinking of all the things that he is not able to do now. Wish I could help him more. Just don’t have a “magic pill” to go back in time and make that day different. Take care everyone. Hope you are having good weather. It is so cold here right now. Barbara -
Hi Barbara,
I am sure that things will get better between your dil and you. Just keep being the nice person that you are and you will win her over. It just takes time sometimes and you cannot let it bother you. You are so good to everyone in the family and they all know it. Neal will not let her come between him and your grandson. How nice that you read to Colin over the phone. I bet that he loves that. He sounds like he is such a cutie.
Another good song for the kids is Little Bunny Foo Foo. The kids use to laugh and try to sing along with that one. They still sing it once in awhile and laugh. Then they went to the wheels on the bus. We use to sing a lot of songs around here.lol
Hope that you find a good way for you and Jerry to travel. It will be nice for you to get to California and see itty bitty. You two are such good grandparents. Maybe one day they will move closer to home again. That would be so nice.
Hope that you have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
What a mess with the powered sugar, I could see Ron using the vacuum to clean it up also. Men do not think. lol Your cake looks really good and that is all that matters. I am sure that everyone enjoyed eating it also. Your Chinese for Bobby’s dinner sounds really good. I am going to get some Chinese tomorrow for lunch. That is my favorite food. Tell Bobby that we said Happy Birthday.
My sil will not get sent over seas for three years. He is going to be a recruiter and he has to do that for three years. He has been over seas twice now and he needs to stay in the states for awhile. It will be nice because he will be able to help Melissa and the kids get settled where ever they are stationed. It is really hard on the kids when he is gone for so long. If they are too far away from us then it will be hard for them to come and stay here for Christmas. That is when they want to be with family. I sure will miss them though. It would be nice if the stayed close.
We finally had sunshine today. We did not get to do much Ron had to work on the breaks on the Jeep and then he had to take a couple of tires to my daughter that lives close. Some drunk slashed her tires last night and her husbands. We did not have any that would fit his car but at least Mandy will have a car to drive and the kids can still get to their activities. That is the one thing that we worried about.
Bobby really likes to aggravate you and Gary. Well he is around to tease you two and there when you need help.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
That is awful about Mandy’s car. did the police get the guy who did it? I hate people who destroy other people’s things. Tires are expensive to replace.
I cannot tell you how sore my arm is. I have PT in an hour. I hope it does not make it worst.
Bobby’s party was a success- they all ate, and everyone loves Chinese up here. I tried to see if I could get a good price on my Dyson cordless, as I feel the motor is going to seize up from the sugar. I am hoping it will work a while longer. I still cannot believe what I did. Thank God it was me, or someone else would be on the chopping block, for sure.
the sun was out yesterday, and this morning. It is getting overcast. tomorrow it is supposed to rain again- a good day for a crock pot dinner.
I cannot type too much today, because my right arm is killing me….LOL
hope you are good, and no more tires are slashed over there!
Adele -
Barbara and Colleen
Our kids loved little bunny Foo Foo!
Adele -
Hi Barbara!
Please read my posts to colleen, for the up dated info. My arm is too sore to type a lot today….LOL
We are so lucky to have the skype abilities, so we can see the babies, when they are not around. If we have gone a while between visits form the kids, I skype Aizen and JJ.
Aizen came over with his little car yesterday, and the boy down the street came over to meet him. that is my neighbor’s grandson, and he and Aizen ere born one day apart. How cute is that. But, he is about a head taller than little Aizen. Even though Jhonny is well over 6 feet tall, the baoys take after Stephanie in size. She is barely 5 feet tall.
I am off to Pt in about a second…..God help me!
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
I hope you’re all doing fine. We have a new season out here, winter-spring, combined. We have a river of storms coming in all week! I HATE it!!! They say the mts could get a foot of snow this week!!
Thank all of you for your prayers & kind words concerning my friends’ passing. It still doesn’t seem real. She was younger than me.
Wasn’t that sad about Erin Moran, from “Happy Days”? I read where they think she died of cancer, but not confirmed yet.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
Have a great week 🙃
Dd
Do you think if I wished hard enough I could get to this destination?? 😂 -
Hey DD!
If you wish hard enough, all of us will be there with you, sparkling on the beach!
I am glad you are fine. I hope you do not get that snow, as it would be awful. We have all had enough of the ice and snow.
We are getting a rain storm again tomorrow. So, I decided to do another crock pot dinner.
Hope your night goes well.
Adele -
Hi DD,
I had not heard about Erin Moran. That is so sad. She was not that old was she? Maybe in her 40’s. It is sad when someone that young dies. Guess she will always be that little freckled faced girl that use to be on Happy Days.
We are getting a lot of rain here. We had finally got a break for a couple of days and it is headed our way again. Hope that the snow stays in the mountains and does not come where you are. We had a couple of days that were really cold and now it is really warm again. Crazy,Crazy weather we are having.
We should all be laying on that beach with our beach boy Pablo bringing us drinks. That is our imaginary beach boy. We did this for awhile a long time ago. It was funny because we kept sending him back and forth. He would bring us drinks and put lotion on our backs. I guess he looked like what ever you wanted him to. We need to bring him back. lol
Hope that things get better for you every day and your friends family. You all are in my prayers.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I am sorry to hear about your arm. Hope that they help it tomorrow when you go to therapy. They should be able to get some of the pain out of it. They can do a lot more with therapy then they use to.
They did catch the guy that did that to Mandy’s car. They put him in jail over night and then he got bailed out. The cops said that he is not to go any where near their house anymore. It turns out that they knew the guy. He is just a drunk and he admitted to the cops that he did it. I guess it was hard to deny when he had the knife that he did it with in his hand. It is just sad that people do things like that. She was lucky that Ron had tires here that would fit her car. Sometimes it is not bad that he has all that junk here at the house.
Your weather sounds like ours. We are going to get more rain starting Wednesday night and still be raining until Sunday. April showers are really hitting everyone hard this year.
Glad that Bobby’s party was a success. No one stuck to the floor.lol You always bake such good cakes and they are so pretty they way you frost them. Wish that I was a good baker like you are. Hope that your vacuum will work for you and the sugar did not hurt it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hello Everyone,
DD I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. Even if the passing is expected it doesn’t make it any the less painful.
Colleen, no matter if Melissa goes to Texas or Florida it will be hot and humid in either place. Do you think they will live on or off base when they move? Jenny’s husband was in Texas when he was in the Army but that was before they were married-or before she actually even knew him. I wonder why that guy slashed Mandy and her husband’s tires. Especially since he knew them. Maybe he was mad at them for some reason. What a stupid and costly thing to do-he should have to pay for new tires for them. He shouldn’t just walk away scott free for that kind of property damage. Yikes! That’s kind of scary.
Adele, couldn’t you just kick yourself when you do something dumb like dropping the sugar. Add that to being tired and it’s enough to make me go off on a crying jag the whole time I’m trying to clean it up. But unfortunately accidents do happen-but it’s so frustrating sometimes. I wonder why the powdered sugar got inside the motor of the Dyson-maybe because it’s bagless? I would think you should be able to vacuum that up. Maybe a shop vac would have been better. I hope it’s not ruined. Just a little side note. I love those Shark vacs and they are a third of the price of the Dyson-had a Dyson gave it to Jenny’s SIL-much prefer the Sharks. But maybe that’s just me. I feel like i have had every brand of vacuum in existence. Always looking for the perfect one. The Electolux canister and the upright Oreck were always good but are getting old now. The Miele always had a problem with the powerhead disconnecting and and was hard on my wrists. I’m always like Goldilocks looking for the vacuum that is “just right.” lol
Thank goodness that you had Chinese planned for the birthday dinner so you didn’t have more work. Tell Bobby happy belated birthday. Is he the younger or older child?
Barbara, that is funny that you thought Adele was plucking away on the mandolin. I’d like to try and hear her play some bluegrass on her kitchen utensil. lol
I think it’s a good thing to try and remember to cherish everyday. I try to do that too. Sometimes it is hard when sadness or problems occur so I think it’s an ongoing striving. But ultimately life is beautiful.
I know where there’s a will there’s a way so I know you and Jerry will figure out a way to get to California for a visit.
Here’s a question that I have for you to ask Neal sometime. It was prompted by a book that I am reading about the planes that were diverted to Gander Newfoundland when airspace over the US was closed down after 9/11. When you are an air traffic controller how to you communicate with the pilots coming in on foreign airlines from foreign countries-or do all the foreign pilots flying into the US have to know English and how about vice versa. Somehow this question never occurred to me until I read this book. I guess when I fly I take for granted that everyone knows what they are doing-you kind of have to otherwise you would never fly. You have to trust in the expertise of the flight crew and the grace of God to get you there. I like to control things but have just had to accept that this is something that is beyond my control.
I am sorry that Heather got kicked off DWTS last night. I thought it should have been the bachelor or the bull rider(hey I think that could be the name of a new TV show) lol I enjoyed watching Heather a lot but i guess many people didn’t like her and also thought it was unfair because she was a former back up dancer. I always knew her from Glee but I guess many people didn’t know her from that.
Oh well there have been other seasons when a good dancer has been kicked off too early.
Today Greg starts his golf league. He has never golfed in a league before as he never had the time. So this should be interesting. Unfortunately it’s on the same day as Piper’s Tball games will be-also he usually has rehearsal on Tuesdays but he changed that to Monday’s and then come summer Tim will go up north so he won’t have rehearsal.
Gail -
Hi Colleen
I am glad they caught the guy. I hope his overnight stay in jail is enough to keep away form them, and their cars. She must have been so upset.
We have not tried the vac yet, as I wanted to make sure the filter is completely dry. I have no hair dryer, so I could not help it out.
The PT did make the shoulder feel better. It is amazing what they do. AFter I do a lot of exercises, they work on the shoulders, by pushing and pressing. It hurts when they do it, but, not too bad. They do an ice treatment after, and then when I get home I take a shower, with the hot water over my shoulders too. Between all of that, they feel better.
It is so gross here again today. Gloomy, and raining. It will rain until tomorrow.
Hope your weather gets better.
I bet Ron felt good that he was able to come up with tires for Mandy! That was a great thing, in the middle of her crisis. I bet she was very happyher dad was able to help.
Have a good day.
Adele -
Hi Gail!
Do you have a cordless Shark? I have the canister Dyson, and then 2 of the cordless ones- got the one Gary used last, as it was more powerful that the other one I had. That was the one we used the most, as it has that new head that does not get stuck with hair and stuff.
I think you are right- it might be that it is bag less, that the white sugar got inside it. I had an electrolux too, and the power cord for the power head kept coming off. Heather had a Miele, and she swore by that one, bit that one broke too. Nobody can seem to make a vac that lasts a long time. of course, we caused this mess. We have a shop vac in the shed, and Gary did not want to go get it,. Plus, it is too big for him to bring up the stairs, and Bobby was out when I created the disaster. If he were not home, I would have used a broom to get some of it up first, and scooped it into the trash. I tired to tell him we needed to do that, and he would not listen.
the only positive part is,if I do get another cordless Dyson, they did more improvements. Still not feeling so good about it!
Bobby is 2 years older than Heather. I told him all my sparkly friends wished him well….LOL
Can you imagine if Bobby had to cook in the kitchen, or me? I would have cried, for sure.
It is so gross here again today, and I have no energy at all…..
hope your day is sunny and bright, and that you figured out a way to get to both games.
Adele -
Hi Gail,
I do not think that they will have a base where they go. So they will have to have to rent a place. I know that the recruiting place down here does not have a base anywhere near here. They would have to drive to Ft. Leonard Wood. They do not realize what it is like living in states like that. Well Melissa does not know but Stephen might. He was born and raised in Alabama. So it will be different for her and the kids.
The guy that slashed the tires is a drunk and he was pretty drunk when they picked him up. They think that he has been doing damage to other peoples property in that area. They did not say if he has been caught before or not. I kind of got that impression. Anyway there will be a court date and he will have to answer for what he has done. He really needs to go to rehab and get sober. It is really a shame he use to be a really nice man. He just started drinking and he changed.
I agree with you about Heather getting kicked off of dwts. I really liked the dance that her and Max did last night. I thought the same thing that you did it would be one of the guys that would go home. That bachelor is not a very good dancer. He really tries but he just does not do it. It will be interesting to see who goes home next week.
That will be nice that Greg will be golfing on a league. It will be hard on you though. Do you go to watch Greg golf all the time? You will figure it all out and get to see them both play their sport. You may have to alternate days to go see each one.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
You could try putting the vacuum in front of a fan if you have one. That should work as well as a hair dryer. It is worth a try. Hope that something works and you do not have to buy a new one.
They do work wonders with therapy. I know that my back always feel better after I go for treatments. I am still trying to avoid surgery. I am not sure what they will have to do. It just does not seem like the right thing to do. As long as the therapy keeps me going that is what I will do. My back was not hurt as bad as your was though.
Ron did feel good but he did rub it in that if he did not collect all of this stuff we would not have been able to help her. There are not that many tire places open on Sunday. Ron does not like the tires that they have at Wal mart so he would not have bought any there. So that made it even better that we had them.
I bet that Heather’s friends liked to hang around so they could flirt with Bobby. I know that my girls liked it when their friends had an older brother. I do not know why they never dated any of them. lol Oh to be young again. Well maybe for a week or two.
Well that is about all from here. Life is boring right now. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
That’s funny about the girls liking when their friends had an older brother. I just remember my brother telling his friends not to date my sister-they were just a grade apart. He told them not to date her because she was a dork but deep down inside I think he was really being sweet and trying to protect her from his “big bad friends.” lol
I wonder if the Army gives them a stipend towards their rent since they can’t live on base. I’ve heard when you have been shopping at the PX for a long time it is an eye opener to see what the costs of things are in the “real world.” At least that is what Kim told me.
If Stephen is from Alabama originally he certainly knows about heat and humidity. Do his parents still live in Alabama?
I have never gone to watch Greg play golf. It would be incredibly boring as far as I am concerned-plus you would have to walk the whole 9 or 18 holes to see it all. It’s nothing like watching it on television where they have cameras at each hole. I was just commenting that he will miss Piper’s tball games-I will probably still go as we used to all go out to eat afterwards.
He said he liked golfing in the afternoon as he always used to go in the mornings. He said he felt looser-and i said-welcome to arthritis. lol
Gail -
Hi Adele,
That was a good idea that Colleen had to dry the vacuum with the fan.
I can’t imagine not having a hair dryer. Although it would be easier just to let my hair air dry it would look awful if I did. It air dries wavy and I don’t like the look of it. It’s funny because my hair used to be straight with just a slight wave and now it is much wavier. if there is such a word. lol
I do not have a cordless shark. I have a little one, an upright and an upright that you can convert to a canister. I never liked the cordless ones as it’s always an issue finding a good place to plug them into a charger and then sometimes they poop out in the middle of a project. We do have a cordless shop vac for quick clean ups but Greg doesn’t keep that plugged in-he has two batteries for it instead.
We did have nice weather all weekend but now we will be getting rain for several days. It just started thundering. T-ball doesn’t start until the kids are out of school and golf started yesterday but I never go watch. It would be tons of walking and a snoozefest and no one goes to watch-it’s not like pro golf where there are cameras and a gallery.
I forgot to mention that I only got to eat out twice last weekend. lol Friday we always pick stuff up to bring to Jenny’s-Saturday Greg found a new restaurant in Rockford that we tried-it was really good and Sunday we stayed in and barbecued and had the first fresh asparagus of the season.

Hi Colleen
It is still pouring here. So bad, that my poor shoulders are hurting today. I have not even taken my shower yet. I hope to get to that soon. Thank God I am retired, so I can take my time.
That is funny about Ron. Watch out…he may e planning a lot more coming home to your place, just in case…..LOL Gary would have done the same thing.
It was just the opposite here. Bobby had to order his friends NOT to go near his sister. He could not stand it if nay of them dated her. On the other hand, Bobby would not even look at any of Heather’s friends, just because they were her friends. then, when they got to be adults, Bobby ended up marrying one of Heather’s work friends, and we know who that turned out. Kind of validated his initial rule.
Did you see that new comedy show last night, about the mother and daughter at the same newsroom? I thought it was pretty good.
Did you see the new half sleeve sweater that matches the 2 piece anchor/nautical set from a few years ago? I have the set, and the long sleeve sweater that goes with it, so I got the short sleeve one too. I got the pink and black, and hope the pink matches with the jacket. the black definitely will, as thatis never an issue.
Hope the sun is shining for you!!

Hey Gail!
Read my post to Colleen, for the up-dates on today.
I forgot to tell her the vac was dried out, and Gary tried it this morning. So far, ti worked, and is not making any funny noises. We will see what happens from here. We use the cordless way more than the canister. I do quick little pick ups of crumbs, etc, and use the big one once a week.
If you use a curl cream, and some sort of frizz prevention for your hair, you may like your pretty waves. Try it out some day, and see. I use Paul Mitchel products, and I do not get any frizz, unless I missed a piece of hair when I put the stuff on.
When Gary watches golf on TV, I say….so, we are watching the grass grow? It is really boring to watch. Very slow. Good for a quick nap.
do you have any plans for Mothers day yet? I really want to go out. But, it is the WORST day to go out. Bobby is saying he will BBQ, but, the weather has to cooperate.
Hope your day is sunny, and that weather make sit’s way over here……

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you ladies that helped me with things I did not think about to help me. I did order one of those reacher things to pick things up. It is a good idea anyway as I am short so it can help me reach things. I think I have just about everything covered. I have never been to this hospital so have been reading up on it and it seems they are very active in stopping the spread of infections and other dangers in a hospital. You are to question them if they try to give you an unfamiliar med and they are to check you wristband every time so no mix ups occur. The doctor & I both need to sign the knee that is being operated on so that is correct. I am liking what I am reading about this hospital. I hope the nurses are nice. I had one at another hospital that must have been having a bad day as she was very crabby and did not like when you rang your bell for something. I never bother them unless I need something and did not like how she treated me. This hospital seems to have that covered to as you are to tell someone about it. The television comes with the room no extra charge & that is a new one to me too. I guess they want you to be comfortable and think it will keep your mind off the pain. Also free wifi. The meals sound great they have a chef and I guess are known for how good the food is. I read a sample menu and it sounds very good so guess I won’t be losing any weight in there. So I am feeling a little less stress knowing everything is under control. I can just concentrate on getting better. So sorry if you are tired of hearing all this but just wanted to thank you.
It sounds like after today we are to have warmer weather maybe even 80’s. I hope so we have not had any days in the 80’s yet. We did have some 60’s & 70″s. Maybe more rain by the weekend then cooler next week. -
OMG, Sue!!
We are not tired of hearing about your surgery. We are all concerned, and want to know how you are doing, and what worries you!!!
You are right- knowing about where you are goign, and how you will be treated, makes this a lot easier. Also your prep, to make sure you have everything you need when you get home. All of that, makes you feel you are in control, and all will be good.
It sounds like the hospital is very customer friendly, and they would be hard pressed to have a nurse with an attitude on staff. I think in all the hospitals I have been, with Gary and me, there was never a nurse we did not like. When my Dad was dying, however, there was a nurse I ordered out of his room, as she was awful, and he could not speak with a tube down his throat. That was in 1988.
I am sure you will be fine, and we will all be waiting to hear how it went.
Be safe, my good buddy- we are all praying for you.
It is still raining up here…LOL

I am really lazy feeling today. Can’t quite figure out why except I was sleeping really soundly last night and Jerry was watching some TV, and he woke me up and asked me to feel his chest, that he thought his heart was beating too fast. Well, that scared me because we know he doesn’t confess anything about sickness; so I checked his pulse, and his heart rate was up and checked his BP; and it was good. He said it just came on him while he was lying there, and no arm pain or chest pain, just feeling like his heart was racing. I kept a close eye on him for a long time, and I know there are different heart conditions that will cause a person to develop a fast beat, and then they just go away and everything goes back to normal. Sometimes even drinking too much caffiene will make it do that, and he is difinitely guilty of that. He tried to brush it off as he began to feel better; but I told him that we are not going to take chances with our health So I will be watching him closely.
Gail, that is an interesting question for me to ask Neal, and I surely will the very next time we talk. He is off today; so I am hoping to hear from him and itty bit later today. They usually go sightseeing on his days off. He said it is so beautiful out there, and also that they have offered him a permanent position there if he would like one. That was really a confidence booster, and he thanked them and said he would certainly consider it; but told us that he will be heading closer home as soon as his training is over. But, as Jerry said to me, Barbara he has lots to consider when making decisions now; and we just need to support him and let him know whatever he decides is what we want for him and his family; in spite of how we might want to say.
Adele, I have a Shark vacuum that was a TSV a few months ago, and I really like it. I also have a Dyson, and it is SO heavy that in spite of the fact that it was working okay, I bought the Shark. My dyson got so much dust inside that I spent a lot of time rinsing out the filter and the inside of the cannister, and broke the hinge on the cannister; so had to be extra careful to keep from making a mess with it. I ended up giving it to Joey since he needed a vacuum and he said he didn’t care about the issues I had caused with it; and he is still using it. I have always wanted one of those Zoomba things that go all over the room, but am afraid we might trip over it and hurt one of us.
Colleen, are you in the storms? We have had lots of cloudy weather today; and it supposed to be stormy tonight. Hope you all are okay. I agree with you, Pablo needs to resurface and cater to our needs now that the weather is getting warmer. And since DD hasn’t met him yet; we would have a new reason to celebrate. LOL And I think one of DD’s beach scenes look like a lovely place for us all to get acquainted.
Jerry and I are still reading at night. I ordered a subscription (large print) of the Readers Digest and we read a few of the funny things each night, and then one of the stories. We are enjoying it and I hope we get out to the bookstore soon; and we will pick us up something new to read there too. Guess I could just go to Walmart for that matter.
Colleen, Ron sounds just like Jerry in keeping all his “stuff” for years “just in case someone would need it”. And it seems like everytime I go to complaining about it then after years of it just sitting there, he needs it for someone. So I don’t even say anything anymore. ha ha’
Gail, if I had to walk 18 holes to watch a golf game, I would have to have Pablo just push me around in some rolling chair with a nice umbrella and a cook drink, and mabey some cookies to snack on. I might just have to nap a while too.
Take care everyone, and enjoy the rest of your evenings. Barbara -
Colleen
We heard about the terrible storms out your way, and Gail’s possibly too. I hope you are all ok. These storms are scary. Prayers sent!Barbara
Thank God Pablo has been resurrected. We all need a good back rub in the sun. A peek at the sun would be great for my old bones. I swear, we are all growing gills up here.
I hope Neal will be able to get a job much closer to you and Jerry. That would be fantastic. We will all be saying a prayer for that request. I hope they called with Itty Bitty, so you have a nice story to tell us.
I have not read a Readers Digest in ages. that is a good d idea to get one that has larger type, as they are small. I always loved their stories.
Gary thinks the vac may work for a while longer. I found that Ebay has the best prices on them right now, just in case. In case you want to know, the price of a Dyson at Macy’s goes this way…..they list it way higher, and actually have the price QVC sells it for, as THEIR SALE PRICE. I was horrified.
Well, Gary has to go back for his urine test again Friday, and I hope all the infection is gone. Friday will be his 4th day off the antibiotic. I hope we are done with this for a while.
Happy reading, Barb and Jerry!!
Adele -
Hi Gail,
That is funny about your brother. I guess most brothers do not like his sisters friends. They do like to hang out with them when they are at their house jsut to aggravate their sisters. I think that we missed out not having a boy around to aggravate his sisters.
The Army will give them so much to live on. They will miss the px because everything is so much cheaper. I guess they can find a base close to where they are and shop there. Even if they have to drive a little distance to shop there. There will be a lot of things that they will miss when they have to move off post. They will be away from all the other army people and the kids that have parents that go thru what they are going thru. The kids will miss that for sure.
Stephen’s parents are divorced. His mother lives somewhere close to Alabama but am not sure where. His dad lives in Texas. His mom moves a lot. His dad has a girlfriend and he goes where her job takes her and he just gets a job there also. I have no idea what either one of them do.
I am glad that you said that about golf. I find it very boring also. You follow them all over the place and just stand there and wait for them to hit the ball again and go walking again. Most of the time the players ride in a golf cart. I guess it is different if you play then if you just watch.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
We did have storms here all night. It is really late here and I just now was able to get on the computer. We had lightening all day today which is unusual for around here. At least tomorrow is supposed to be nice and then rain again for the rest of the week. So there will be nothing to do this week-end but watch the rain.
That is so funny about how older brothers act about their sisters. I had a brother but he was five years younger then I was so he did not bother my friends and we did not bother his friends. We use to call him baby brother all the time and embarrass him in front of his friends. We still do it sometimes when we are aggravating him.
I have not watch any of the quacker shows yet. I have them taped and will watch them in the morning. It is too late to start watching them now. I will watch out for that top. It sounds really cute.
How is Amanda doing at her new job? Does she like working there? I hope that it works out for her. She is smart to keep working at her old job and seeing how it is going to work out for her at the new job. She will not be out of work.
I did not watch the new show. Ron watched this really boring movie America America. It was two hours and a half and it never got any better. It was a true story about a boy that wants to come to America and all he went thru to get there. It was a really boring trip. We kept waiting for it to get interesting but it didn’t.
That is good that the vac tried out. You may not have any problems with it at all. It will be nice not to have to buy a new one.
Well that is all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Sue,
Everyone on here tries to help the others. So just talk about what is going on and what worries you about it.Someone will know something that will help you. When I worked with therapy they would send a physical therapist and and occupational therapist. The occupational therapist will help you with getting dressed and show you ways that you will not hurt yourself. They are really good. They also can give you something to help you put your shoes and socks on. I hope that they send one over to help you.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I think that Jerry and Ron are related. They both do the same things. Does Jerry keep telling you I told you that would come in handy. Ron does me so it does not do me any good to say anything. lol
We are having the storms here. We had storms all day today but tomorrow is supposed to be nice out. Then rain for the rest of the week-end. Is the weather out your way? Hope that you are having some nice weather there.
Neal is such a good worker. It is nice that everywhere he works they want him to stay or come back. That is such a compliment. You and Jerry must be very proud of him. How long will he be in training? Hope it does not take too long.
That was so good that Jerry is okay. That is good that you knew what to do. He was lucky to have you there to tell. That would make you nervous to know that he felt like that. It would be hard to go back to sleep.
It would be so nice to go and have Pablo there to rub our back and just wait on us hand and foot. Just laying on the beach in the pictures that DD posted would be great. It is nice to dream.
Well that is all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Sue,
We are not tired of hearing about your surgery at all. We are here to offer support and suggestions whenever we can. Also we all know that surgery is a stressful thing to go through and sometimes we just need someone to talk to about our fears and concerns. It sounds like you have done your research and are feeling a bit more comfortable about the situation now. Knowledge is power and the more you know about what to expect the less frightening it becomes. We are all sending positive thoughts and lots of prayers your way for a speedy and easy recovery.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
We had rain but not really storms. They are saying that it will storm the rest of the week and all weekend here too. We got a little spoiled having weather in the 70’s and now it is back in the 50’s.
We found out yesterday that you do not have to blanch the asparagus to freeze them if you have one of those Food Savers so now I am really glad that Greg got one as that makes saving the asparagus so much easier.
I hope that Stephen and Melissa will be relocated by the time school starts next fall. It will be hard enough on the kids without having to start school one place and then go to another school. Maybe you and Ron will take some trips to visit them now that you don’t have to worry about the guineas anymore. You would just have to find someone to watch the dogs.
Any plans for Mother’s Day? I’m not sure what we will do this year.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I guess golf is fun if you play-and fun to watch if you play and know something about the sport. i kind of wished i had learned as it’s something that you can do into your later years but i don’t have the arm strength anymore. it’s kind of a mental game as Greg says you are always playing against yourself to improve your scores. Also Greg is naturally athletic so he is pretty good at most sports. The only thing i was ever better at than him was ice skating as i skated every day in the winter as a child and even as a teenager. I was also better at horseback riding as we grew up around horses and his parents wouldn’t let them ride because his brother lost the tip of a finger in some kind of riding accident. Don’t know exactly what happened and Greg doesn’t remember. (this from the guy who swears that he can remember not liking it when his mother changed to a new nipple on his baby bottle) We always make fun of him and ask him was it because he was still drinking from a bottle when he was 12. lol
Every once in awhile i blow my hair dry and squish it to style it with the waves but i am not crazy about the look so I don’t do it often-plus it is not good at all the next day that way.
Gail -
Barbara,
I hope Jerry is feeling better and that it was just some sort of fluke thing from too much caffeine or something. It is scary to wake up to something like that though and would be hard to get back to sleep afterward.
I am eagerly anticipating the answer to my question for Neal. Isn’t that funny that i never considered the language situation before.
I hope that eventually after Neal’s training is done he will get a job opportunity closer to you. But it does show that they think he is doing a great job there when they offer to keep him on. How long is the training period normally?
Barbara, be careful what you wish for-lol. I recently saw something written about a Roomba. I guess it was set to go off while the people were in bed at night. Well they had a dog that pooped on the floor one night and the roomba just kept going through it and spread the poop all over the carpet on that particular night. This is a situation that I guess no one really ever thought about before. Anyway it gave the author a humorous topic to write about. lol So sometimes what seems like a good thing can end up being a bad thing. I hope that i have not grossed everyone out with my story. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen
I am glad you did not get any damage from the storms. That must have been scary, with the lightning all day long.
The sun is out. I do not know what to do with myself…..LOL We are supposed to get thunderstorms tomorrow morning, and then it is supposed to get hot- the 80’s.
I have no siblings, so I have no funny stories at all.
I hope the vac keeps working. We will see.
I did not see that shirt on a Quacker show. It was through an email. I do not think they have any shows scheduled today or tomorrow. They have had Carole Hochman, and Tillie wanted a nightgown, so I ordered it, and will add it to my “give to her collection” for her birthday and Mothers Day.
So far, Amanda loves her job at the new place. Last night we heard the Boston Police are closing the street that Fenway Park is on, to ensure there are no terrorist incidents. That made me nervous, because her restaurant is one street away from Fenway. I keep telling her to be aware of her surroundings.
I hope you get good news about your daughter and family, and where they will move to.
How is Aliza doing? Have you watched the Chew lately? I am watching 2 of them now, as I recorded them.
Hope you have a good day.
Adele -
Hey Gail
i did not know you were an avid ice skater, and equestrian. I remember ice skating when I was younger, but I do not think I ever got off the skates that had the 2 sets of blades. I was never good at balance, because of my eyes. I did take Steph for horseback riding lessons, before she started cheering. Cheerleading took over your life, from then on. She took lessons for almost a year. She was very serious on the horse, and her teacher told me she went home the first night and told her husband she was teaching Lilith ( from Frazier). I found that very amusing.
That is a very funny story about Greg. You must all be hysterical when he talks bout it.
Steph and family, and Heather and Dave are coming for dinner. The rest are working. I made that Slow Cooker Beef Bourguignon in the crock pot, per Bobby’s request. This recipe came from “The recipe critic”. We will have to see how the rest of them like it.
Hope your sun is shining- ours is, for a brief moment. It is supposed to thunder tomorrow am.
I bet you look nice, no matter which way you do your hair. We are all pretty, sparkly Quackers!
Adele -
OMG, Gail….that is a gross story about a Roomba…..LOL LOL
Moral of the story….do not let the Roomba go wild, if you have a pet.

Have any of you ladies bought any Carole Hochman PJ’s lately? I ordered the 3 piece set today. Now I am reading since she sold the company that the quality is no longer there. So what are your thoughts? I thought if I wore them around the house before I was dressed and someone knocked on the door I would still look okay and completely covered.
-
Hi Gail,
Your asparagus must be coming in now also. We have had one meal with asparagus. Ron brought another bunch in tonight. Did you see the Chew the other day? Micheal made a sauce to put beats in but you could use it for different veggies. So I am thinking of trying that with our asparagus. It will give it a different taste. We have just been steaming it and putting a little butter on it.
I hope that they get moved before school starts also. It will be hard enough on the kids transferring schools where they know no one. I think that Kaylee will do fine. She gets out and meets all types of kids and is not shy. Ethan has a hard time making friends so it will be hard on him. I hate that he has to leave this gifted program that he is in also. I hope where ever they go they have that program there or one like it.
We still have two guineas. Out of all those things that we have had that is all that is left. They are two males so no new babies. They will not last much longer though. We may be able to get Kylie to stay out here and watch the animals since she will be out of school and not have to worry about getting there on time.
That is funny that Greg can remember the nipples on his bottles but cannot remember how his brother lost the tip of his finger. I guess that did not have much to do with him so he does not remember. That is funny. I guess we remember strange things sometimes.
The girls are still trying to decide. Melissa wants to have it at her house and Stephen will bbq. Mandy does not know and I have not heard from Danyielle. I just want to spend time together because next year we may not be able to.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
We had sunshine today but the storms are coming back tonight and all week-end. They say that it will go into next week but we are hoping that they are wrong. The lightening does not bother me as much as the rain. The only good thing was we got the wind the night before then the storms. We were lucky not to have any damage from any of it.
I do not remember that e-mail Maybe I did not get that one. THey have a lot of close with anchors on them. They had a few shows on qvc2. They seemed to be repeats of the Chics night in except for the last one. It was strange. Are you able to get qvc 2 yet? I hope that you can get it soon.
You must have a lot of clothes for Tillie in that pile for her birthday and Mothers day. She will be so excited. It will be fun to watch her go thru all of that. Hope that she likes the pjs.
I hope that she will be able to find a place to park and not have to park too far away from the restaurant. The restaurant should be really busy again on that day. We will all just have to pray that it will be safe for everyone. Is it time for the marathon again? I will be praying that it is a calm this year and everyone just has a good time.
I have been watching the Chew. They sometimes have vegetables on the show that we cannot find here. So will not be making that dish that Mario made today. Will have to watch for a new one to make.
I guess that Aliza is doing fine. We have not seen her since Easter. My daughter Mandy sent me a picture of her sitting in her dolls play pen. She was just a little too big for it but she got in there. She is just so funny.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Sue,
Gosh I have worn Carol Hockman for years and years. Used to love the three piece sets with the tanks when I used to get so hot in bed at night. I’m finally past that stage but still wear them and keep the long sleeves on now. I didn’t buy any this past winter but just bought a couple of pajamas and nightgowns yesterday so have not received them yet. We’ll see how they last this time around. I know the ones I had before lasted a long time-almost as long as Quacker and Denim and Co. I will let you know what i think of the new stuff. I think I bought a couple of nightgowns last summer and they seemed to be fine. We shall see-I always loved Carol Hockman so i hope they are the same as before. I know so many of the cosmetic companies go downhill after they are sold. Wish we could get the same Tova and Amazing Grace of old. But things change sometimes and we have to learn to roll with the punches.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Loved the comment about Steph being like Lilith. That made me chuckle-especially after you saying that she also reminded your family of that woman on Life in Pieces-I can see a similarity between the two of them. Maybe Steph should star in a sitcom-it seems she has the right look. lol
You know I always had a feeling of sheer joy and freedom speeding along the ice and also on horseback. Growing up we lived in an area where lots of people had horses so we never had our own but always had friends who would lend you a mount. Also there was always a convenient pond to skate on in the winter so I was lucky. So sorry you never got off the double blades. Greg had trouble until I had him change from hockey skates to figure skates and then it got a bit easier for him.
The sun is shining now but it’s supposed to be rainy this weekend so we shall see. Not sure what we are doing for Mother’s Day yet. It’s usually a bit closer to Greg’s birthday which is the 9th but this year i think it’s the 14th or something. usually we celebrate the 2 together. I think Tim is coming over on Sunday to record with Greg so his wife Nan will probably come with and she and I will go to lunch and shopping.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
So far we have had one meal from the asparagus and Greg has frozen two batches. I cook it in the microwave as we like it soft and put seasoned salt and butter on it and melt some cheese on Greg’s half as he likes it with cheese and i like it plain.
I hope that they find a gifted program for Ethan too when they move. Otherwise he may get bored again.
You will have a high school graduate this year. Will there be a big party? Around here when Brent and Jenny graduated it seemed everyone had parties. I think we went to graduation parties for half the summer. lol Has she decided what she will be doing next year yet? It’s such a big transitional year between high school and either going on to college or joining the work force. gosh it seems so long ago-I guess that’s because it is. lol Sometimes I forget how old I really am. lol
Gail -
Hi Sue
I get them all the time. I do not like that she has added some polyester or rayon to some of them. She does still have a few with all cotton. I even wear mine if I run out to pick up the kids, and in my yard. you look like you are in a jogging outfit.
I just got anther set of the one they had on special. Ill look up the numer, and add it.

Hey Colleen
I hope you do not get bad storms. I will be thinking of you.
We have already had the Marathon. Amanda made over 400.00 in tips that day, and she was thrilled. I will need everyone’s prayers for her to be safe. I cannot tell you how worried I am about her, so close to Fenway Park.
Aliza must be adorable. I hope you get to see her soon.
Oh,oh, Bobby just got home with dinner, so I have to close for now….LOL

We never got our nice day yesterday. We had a thunderstorm go through last night. Then today was just beautiful and lots of sunshine. Tomorrow is to be in the 80’s but will believe it when I see it. Also chance of showers and PM thunderstorms. Sunday is to start the cool down. Next week only in the 60’s but that will still be nice if it does not rain all the time.
Thanks for the feedback on the PJ’s. I usually wear nightgowns as I have a ton of them as my Scottish friend gave me a lot of them at Christmas & Birthdays.
The only thing I have not figured out after surgery is the laundry. I am going to have everything washed up when I go & am hoping I can manage for a few weeks & then hopefully can do it myself. I can hand wash undies and have plenty of other clothing. Only other thing would be towels.
Have you ladies roasted asparagus? I put olive oil and a little parmesan cheese on them & roast them & really like them that way. Of course I like them anyway.
Did you read Angel’s blog about her trip to NYC? She was seated in the tasting area of the Chew. She still has not said when it will air. Maybe she does not know yet. -
Hey Gail, and all…..
We are done with dinner. We had our favorite takeout tonight from a place called Liberty Bell. They have fabulous fish plates. I love the broiled haddock. Gary gets the chicken fingers or a roast beef sandwich, of course.
Steph is funny. But you cannot tell her that, or she will get upset. She is VERY sensitive, and you have to carefully watch your words so you do not offend her. I hope as she gets older, she will have tougher skin. She has not learned to laugh at herself yet, and that is a skill everyone needs.
I can see how riding a horse, or ice skating will make you feel like that. It is you, and the ice, or you and the horse. It is little wonder why it is so popular.
Your Mothers Day sounds nice, with Greg and his friend recording, and the women socializing. I can see you enjoying a drink or tea, whichever you feel is good for the moment…..will Colleen’s pool boy be by?
I hope you do not get the rain they are predicting.Colleen
Oh yes, Tillie has so much Quacker that she has things piled in front of her closet. We are keeping UPS and the Post Office in business.
Gary got the furniture un-covered on the deck today. Let the fun begin!
Adele
I hope your weather will be good for this weekend, no matter what they predicted. -
Hi Sue!
I think the home health aides they send to the house are able to do laundry for you. they help you shower, and get dressed, wash your dishes, fix your food, and can even do minor errands, like a few groceries, and medicines that you need. As far as i know, that’s what they are able to do. Make sure the hospital writes in all you need, and d not feel embarrassed to add those tasks. After all, you will not need them a long time, just a few weeks.
I love roasted asparagus. We do it here too. Do you have an outside grill? Bobby always rubs the grill will a little oil, so they will not stick.
I have not sen April’s blog. I could not friend her, as she has too many friends. I record The Chew, so I will not miss her on there- did that after you told us she was to be on.
We get your weather, right after it leaves you. We will also be having on and off rain, and cooler next week too.
Take heart….Tom Selleck will be on in a few hours……LOL LOL I also love the Waldburgh brothers. they are great actors.
Have a good night!

Hi Gail,
We have not had to freeze any of the asparagus yet. We eat it as fast as we pick it. We have some more in the freezer that we will be eating soon.I think we may have to pick a little more to make enough for a meal. Ron has the garden planted and now we are getting all the rain and cool weather. Hope that it does not effect the garden.
I worry about Ethan getting bored also. He will not do good in school if he gets bored. He acts up too much and gets tired of just sitting while the other kids are still doing their work. We will be doing a lot of praying for him that is for sure.
They will have a big party for Kylie for her graduation. Then that will be it. I do not know what her friends are doing for graduation and all the parties that she will go to after she graduates. She has decided to go to Junior college for a couple of years and then go on to a four year college. She will have to go somewhere else to become a doctor. She is still saying that is what she wants to be. You will have a graduation in your family next year won’t you? Will one of Adam’s kids graduate next year? I keep getting that confused. Will they have a graduation for Piper when she gets out of preschool? They use to when Melissa went. She wore a cap and gown and the whole thing. It was really cute.
It is fun to ice skate. I was never that good at it but loved to watch the other good skaters. You did a couple of fun things skating and horse back riding. You had a lot of fun as a child.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

Hi Adele,
They probably take good care of their waitress that work there. They probably make sure that they get to and from their cars without any trouble. If the place is that crowded they probably have a lot of police men that eat there so she will be pretty safe. It is hard not to worry when it is our grandkids.
Your dinner sounds really good. Do you ever eat their fried fish? I still do not like fish that is boiled or broiled. Wish that I could find a good recipe to try that would make the fish taste better. It is horrible not to like any of the good type of fish. That is what I should be eating.
That did not come out the way that I meant it. I meant that you have a lot of things for Tillie for her Birthday and Mother’s day. She will have fun opening it all. I do not know why I said pile I apologize. That really did not come out right. You are really good to Tillie and you have bought her some really cute quacker things.
We can hear the thunder again. I am sick of hearing that noise. We need the rain though and in the middle of the summer when things are dry we will be begging for the rain. Guess we are never happy. I have been misspelling words all night. It is a good thing that I have that spell checker. You would not be able to read this.
Well I better get off of here. Have a good night.

Adele,
You can go to the Q website to read Angel’s blog about going to New York and The Chew. I believe on there it said that the show airs June 22 but I would double check that as my memory is not the best. She did get to sit at the tasting table as Clinton Kelly made sure of that. Cool!

Hey Colleen
i was not offended at all by the pile, as Tillie has piles of clothes in front of her closet….LOL We kid her about it all the time. You could never offend anyone, you are a sweetie!
You have to see my sentences, before i do spell check. I think we type so fast, and reverse the letters. Evry time I look up I spell “From as Form”- my fingers do not want to do it the other way. Most of the time I catch it, but a lot of times I do not.
When is Kylie’s graduation? Such exciting times. Marissa did the same thing- she is going to a 2 year college, and may or may not transfer over to a 4 year one. It is a lot cheaper. College tuition’s are out of control.
I love their fried fish, but they fry everything in one oil, and they sell shrimp and scallops. i am allergic to shellfish, so some times I get sick from the cross contamination. So, I hardly order the fish and chips, even though I love it.
It is gross here today- almost 80, and very humid. I have the air on. You must be sick of the thunderstorms by now. We had days of rain, and no thunder. Even though it is grossly humid, the sun is behind clouds- kind of overcast, I would say.
So, tomorrow we are going to an early dinner with our friends. These are the ones we had to cancel with, when Gary was sick. I am looking forward to it. The weather tomorrow will be different- in the 50’s.
Hope you are not getting rain out there.

Hey Gail!
Thanks- I will check her blog one here.
Hope your day is going well….

Hi Adele,
My spell works while I am typing this. There is that big red line under the word that I misspell. So I have to correct it right away. It is just like having teacher standing there telling you you spelt the word wrong.lol My brother set it up like that so I should not complain. He was trying to be helpful.
I am not sure when her graduation is. She has decided not to go to the graduation because they are doing it so different this year. They will just get the binding the diploma goes in and they have to wait until the last day of school to get their diplomas. They do not get out early like most of the seniors do in our area they want them to stay in school as long as the other kids. That is really dumb to do that. So the kids do not feel like they are graduating. They are taking all the joy out of the whole thing. Kylie got a full scholarship to the junior college here. So she is really excited about that. She could be going over to the college and getting all of that straightened out if she was out of school early. I do not like the school that they go to. My oldest graduated from there and they really messed these kids up all the time.
I forgot about the oil that they fry the fish in. It is a shame that they do not have a certain fryer that they fry the fish in and not other things in it. I guess they do not think about people with allergies. Maybe they will fix that and you will be able to eat fried fish again.
We have had storms for a few days now. It just stopped for awhile so I got on the computer. It is getting cloudy and the wind is blowing so we will probably get more rain soon. We had water across our road this morning which is really unusual because we live on a hill. There just is no where for the water to go. It is really getting scary. We will have some major flooding if the rain does not stop soon.
How nice that you will be able to go to dinner with friends. Do you have a special restaurant that you will go to? It is nice to get out with friends and talk about old times. Really to talk about anything. It gets so tiresome sitting in the house all the time. That is what we do here since we have all the rain.
Well that is about all from here have a good day. Hope that the humidity drops and you have a much nicer evening.

Hi Colleen
We just saw the storms on our weather report again. You are getting soaked. I hope you do not have any damaging winds, and that you will all be ok.
That is awful about Kylie and her graduation. Those life changing moments, like the graduation ceremony, are so important to the kids, and their families.
We go to a few different restaurants with these friends. They are more adventurous. Sometimes we go for brunch too. We have been to many different places, favorites of ours, and favorites of theirs. Our other fiends have only 3 restaurants we usually frequent together….LOL Some of that is because Gary is so picky. A lot of people are afraid to try something new with him.
The rain is keeping you in, like the snow up here kept us in. I pray you and Gail will not get any water in your houses, or property flooded. I hope Gail is ok this weekend too.
Tillie had a belly ache the last 2 days,so she did not come up for dinner. She said she feels better today, but does not want to eat anything. I told her to keep drinking her water, so she will not end up with a problem, and she said she is doing it. Bobby keeps an eye on her too.
Hope the rain has stopped in your area.

Hi Adele,
I think that the rain has finally stopped for a couple of days. We had some rain here early this morning and then into the early afternoon and then it stopped. It is windy here now but do not think that it will blow in any more rain. At least we hope not.
That should be fun going to new restaurants. Surely Gary will be able to find one thing on the menu that he will like. It is fun to go to new places. Hope that you had a nice meal and enjoyed yourself.
I have been wondering about Gail. Have not heard from her this week-end. Maybe she is getting the storms like we had and could not get on the computer. Hopefully she will be on here tomorrow.
How is Tillie doing? Hope that he belly is feeling a lot better now. It is good that Bobby is down there with her and can keep an eye on her. It is nice that Bobby lives there with you.
Well that is about all from here. Having a lot of back problems today. Have a good night.

Going to start a new discussion for May. See you all there.

Hi Colleen
I hope everyone is alright. I heard about the awful storms, and the people who lost their lives due to them. I hope this stops. Whoever says global warming is a hoax needs their head examined. Just look at the damage all across this land from the ferocity of the storms, almost every day. Prayers for all those poor people.
We had a nice time at dinner last night, and got home in time to see 60 Minutes. It is always nice to spend time with friends. I wore my bright pink zipper pants, and the set of 2 that is nautical, with the stripes on the sleeves. I have that 2 piece set in 3 colors. I love it, and have the striped short sleeve sweater that goes with it too. I bought the recent black half sleeve shirt with the anchor, that goes with it too. I cancelled the pink one, as I realized it was a different color than the pink one I have- it was a different name.
Tillie said she is feeling better, and will come up for dinner. I have a BBQ pork chop recipe, with potato and carrots, in the crock pot right now. there is nothing in there that should upset her belly.
I hope Gail is ok. Sometimes she does not come on for a weekend, and I hope ti is because they are busy with their renovations, and out for dinner.
I also hope you are not getting the bad weather I saw on TV this am, as well as Gail.
I have PT today, and it is raining here again today, and very gloomy.
Have a good day.

Hi Adele,
We are all doing fine here. We do not have any flooding right by where we are we just have to check before we go very far. We had storms like this in 1993 and they were just as bad or worse. My mom and dad got flooded in and could not go anywhere. It was a good thing that my mom always stocked up on things. She has moved to a different town since my dad died so she does not have to worry about getting flooded in.
Sounds like you were all dressed up and looking good. That is a shame that not all the colors match each other. You have to be careful of that sometimes. Quacker is usually better about matching colors but sometimes they are a little off.
I am glad that Tillie is feeling better. It must have been nice to have her at the dinner table. Your dinner sounds really good. You have really been making some good meals in your crock pot. Have you ever tried those Viola dinners that they sell. We got on at the grocery store the other day and I fixed it tonight. It was sausage with pasta and it was really good. We have another one in the freezer to try later it has shrimp in it. I know that you cannot eat that one but they also have ones with chicken.
Well that is about all from here. Will see you on the page for May.
Colleen
