Hello Everyone,
We are a group of Quacker loving women who come here each month to talk about clothes, life, kids, food etc. If there are any new sign ups reading this please feel free to join in on our chat. We welcome all new comers with open arms. -
Hi Everyone,
I hope you all had a good weekend.
Barbara, I’ll bet you are counting the days before your little Collin comes to town.
Colleen, I know the best medicine to help with loss is having little kids around and just family in general. The little kids help us remember the joy in living. And family is just good for the support, warmth and familiarity. I remember when my Mom died we were flying home on Christmas day and everyone had left it up to me whether i wanted to go over to Greg’s Mom’s house or go straight home when we landed. I decided there was no use going home and just being sad by ourselves. i figured it would be good for all of us to go be with other family members on Christmas Day so that’s what we did and i am glad that was my decision. Being around a bunch of other people made the holiday easier because I was then thinking about others rather than myself.
I think we will probably go to brunch again this Easter and then come here later for sandwiches. It has worked out well the last couple of years and it’s basically work free for me.
Adele, I think this year you may have to just “let it go” as the song says. I know you love cooking for your family but you can all survive the holiday without all the home made goodies. I know for many of us cooking is how we show love but I’m sure your family does not want you to be in pain and unable to enjoy the day with them. I agree with everyone else too about the recuperation period. It will all work itself out. You may not have gourmet meals but no one will starve I am sure and maybe Gary will surprise you. I’ll bet he is capable of more food prep than you give him credit for if push came to shove. And there is always frozen foods, take out and other alternatives which will be fine for a few weeks if that’s how it needs to be. Everyone will survive. Just relax and concentrate on recuperating.
I can’t believe how you must hurt with the collarbone and the arm and shoulder being so swollen. I feel so bad for you.
Tillie looks great! I noticed her Quacker shirt and that she was wearing bracelets a ring and necklace. She has to be feeling good to be putting on her jewelry! of course only I would notice this. lol
You know I remember my Mom talking about my Dad’s letters to her from France and Germany having big parts blacked out. It was quite common so in case any letters were intercepted by the enemy our guys would not inadvertently be giving away any troop movements or other sensitive information.
As to the letters I think I would prefer our kids not to read any letters that Greg and I wrote to each other. i have ones from when he was away at school before we were married and when he had to go to camp for the army during summer after we were married. i will have to find them and dispose of them sometime. I guess i feel they are private just between he and I-but that’s my own personal feelings. Who knows-if there is mushy stuff it would probably gross the kids out anyway and they would be putting them through the shredder as soon as possible. lol
We had a nice time yesterday. I had given Greg tickets to a game from our semipro hockey team over in Rockford so we went to that yesterday. It was a fun time but our team did lose. We were going to go to dinner afterwards but the place we wanted to go to had a long wait for a table and it was getting late so we ended up driving through Burger King and bringing food home.

I cannot believe it is a new month already. Time goes way to fast. It sure does not feel like Spring. We were at 20 degrees this morning. It has warmed up some but only 40’s but with wind chill feels colder. It is suppose to get very cold again tonight. It is only to be in the 40’s until the weekend. Then they are saying 60’s but rain for 4 days. Why can we not get warmth & sunshine.
I have a valentine card that was my grandmothers. I am sure my parents never wrote letters or gave cards to each other.
Adele have you put ice on your shoulder. That should help the swelling. Watch the Aleve I know you are trying to control the pain but it will ruin your liver. My doctor won’t let me take any of those. I told him about my shoulder pain & he just said exercise them & lift weights. That is painful to do.
I am after the insurance company again. They did not pay my wellness visit. They claim it was billed wrong. So they called the doctor’s office to have it sent in the way they want it but said it would take 3 to 4 weeks. They also want to charge me 100% for my prescription & so I have them checking into that. It seems you need to keep after them to get what you are suppose to. They also charged me for the lab work that is no cost if done at the doctor’s office (costs more at the hospital). I had it done but they seen the Medical center name & thought it was the hospital but I just paid that as it was only 9.33, not worth fighting. But when I paid it I put in a note for them to note it in some way when they do lab work so insurance knows it was done at the doctor’s office. I was on the phone all morning.
I am also trying to find someone to cut my hair. My hairdresser is not returning my calls so I don’t know what is going on there. So I am going to try a girl here in town.
I called but she is only in Tue, Wed, & Fri. So I left a message for her to call me so will see if I hear from her. I want to see if she can do it with me sitting on my walker because I could not get out of her chair.Well now you are caught up with the same old story around here. Boring. That’s why I have nothing to post.

Hi Ladies,
I wrote a post last night & when I sent it, it disappeared, pics & all. Then I had to sign back in!! Sometimes I wonder what’s going on with this site. Now if I can remember what I wrote last night.
Colleen, I can feel your pain with the passing of your mom. When my passed in ’86 it was the MOST devastating event in my life. It felt like someone ripped my heart out of my chest, physically. It’ll take time to come to terms with it. Read those letters & decide whether you want to keep them. It’s a part of your history even if you weren’t a twinkle in your daddy’s eye. Keep some of your photos. I have a box of memories in my bedroom. I kept certain items as I couldn’t keep everything!! Just know we’re all here for you. Sending big hugs. Oh, I almost forgot. The holidays will be the hardest to get thru. Don’t feel embarrassed if you feel emotional during those times. My mom passed away the week before T’giving & then came Christmas. The first yr will be the hardest. You’ll get thru it just fine.
Barbara, I can hear your excitement about your family coming back to your part of the country. I’ll bet you’re counting the days & hrs till they get there & you can see Collin again. It’ll be so nice for you to have them back.
Adele, I’m in shock that you’re in so much pain, & they won’t give you pain killers. Do you know what they have planned as far as surgery goes? What did the MRI show? I hope it showed something. I didn’t realize the shoulder was so complicated. I’ll have to google it to see for myself. Do you or the Dr. know what you did to cause this much pain? A pinched nerve or something? An accident at some point? I’d lay off the Aleve. I took it for my carpel tunnel yrs ago & ended up having a bad reaction to it. It affected my breathing.
We just had a nice spring break. We had a few showers but for the most part it was sunny & in the 60s & low 70s. Pretty unusual for March. Now the rain is returning. April showers ya know. I hope the weather has improved out your way.
Well, I guess that’s all for today.
Have a great week everybody.

Hi Gail,
Going out to brunch sounds like a lot of fun. We need to find a place around here where they have brunch on Easter. We do not have that many nice places around here though.
I am hoping that we have a lot of people here for Easter. The more the merrier. I am not sure how many will be here. I hope a house full. That will make things a lot easier. You were right to be with family on Christmas it would be hard.
It will be fun to see what our parents were like when they were young. My mom and dad were married when dad went to war so it will be interesting to read what they had to say to each other. I know it was hard on them to be apart and my oldest sister was around then also. She was born before dad went over seas. I cannot remember how old she was when he got home. I know that she was already in school.
You did what we usually do when we go out to eat. If the restaurant we want to go to is busy then we bring food home with us. Do you have a Captain D’s close to your house? They have lobster sandwiches and they are really good. I really like lobster though. I am not sure if it is imitation or real lobster but it is good. We got them tonight for dinner.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
Thank- you for all the kind words. I know that this first year is going to be really hard and my family will be around to help me thru it. My brother and sister will be around for the holiday’s and we will have a good time remembering. It will get hard if we stop getting together and enjoying the holiday’s together. I am not looking forward to all the times that we will not have her with us.
How is Jewel doing? I hope that he is doing okay. How is Critt? I hope that he is still living next door to you and you two still have meals together sometimes. He seems like a really nice man and funny.
We have not done very much this week. We were just kind of taking it easy. It seems like we are so tired out from all the things that we have had to do. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Sue,
Your stories aren’t boring. We all talk about the weather and Doctor’s appointments and hair dressers. I don’t think any of us are jet setters. We mostly talk about what we are doing in our daily lives or what we are cooking for dinner etc. Just the stuff our daily lives are made of. We talk about TV programs or stories on the news. I’m sure you have stuff to say about some of these things.
I wonder why the hair dresser is not answering your calls. Maybe she is on vacation. Do you go regularly or just when you need something done? I go every six weeks for a color cut and style. I consider it my spa morning. lol
I just accidentally dropped my lap top. Fortunately it was on the rug but now the screen is not as bright as it should be and the plug thing is bent. I hope Greg can fix it when he gets home. I think it’s not charging now so if I drop out of sight it’s the laptop.
Gail -
DD,
Good advice for Colleen. We each grieve in our own way and time really is the healer. We are getting better weather. it still has been cold at night but the day time temps are getting warmer. There are little tiny buds on some of the trees now. This is my favorite time when everything comes back to life after the long cold winter.
Gail -
Hi Colleen, I have never heard of Captain D’s. It sounds good and I love lobster rolls. Yum!
Both my brother and sister were born before my Dad went over seas. My sister was a new born. I don’t know if this is true but in the back of my head I think my mother may have lived with her aunt (grandmother’s sister) while Dad was away. Or maybe they had a two flat and she lived in the upper flat. Of course no one knows the answer to that anymore unless my sister knows. I will have to ask her. One thing I do know. That same aunt and my mother were pregnant at the same time. My mother was pregnant with my brother and my mother’s aunt was pregnant with her fourth child-i think he was a change of life baby and i know my aunt was embarrassed to be having that baby later in life. lol I guess because everyone then knew she was still “doing it.” lol times have sure changed.
It’s interesting. We have tons of places around here that do Easter brunches. We like to go to the one right in town as it is less crowded than some others and is also the cheapest.
Greg just showed me a posting on Facebook yesterday that showed Adam (Jenny’s ex) is in a relationship-and it showed a picture of him and his new girl friend. So now the kids will have to deal with Jenny’s boyfriend and Adam’s girl friend. It sure gets complicated doesn’t it. And none of this is their choice. They do seem to be doing pretty well though. In fact when we were over there baby sitting i was thinking how well the three of them get along together and play together. I think they are closer now then they were before and I wondered if that is caused by the divorce and them sort of banding together. I would really love to know what they think about the whole situation in their little minds but I dare not ask as I don’t want to cause trouble. But I think about that a lot.
Gail -
Hey Gailster
I missed a lot in the last 2 days- trying to catch up.
I do not have any letters from Gary. Not one. He is not a writer. He calls. Period….LOL
Glad you had a good time with the kids, and sorry greg’s team did nto win.
Had a tough time in the MRI, due to the contraption they put on the shoulder, and having to hold the arm straight and still for over a half hour. Sore today. It will pass. Test needed to e done, and I put on my big girl panties, and did it….LOL
OMG…. the kids dad has a new girlfriend? How does Jenny feel about that? I wonder if that will bother her, or not.Sue!!
Of course you have things to post.
I do use ice,and it feels so good when it is on. The dam swelling if form the collarbone to the elbow. One arm is way bigger than the other. imagine this…I asked the MRI girl if there was anything she could say, and she did- I was shocked. She said there was a tremendous amount of fluid, and even though I said I was loaded with arthritis, from her experience, fluid usually means a tear. So, we will see.
On your hair. Do you have Super Cuts down there? we have been goign to them since I retired. They are great, and their chairs are newer, and easier to get in and out of. That metal band is smaller on their chairs, and easier to negotiate around. I know what you mean, as my old hairdresser had chairs I could never get into now.
here is another idea. Do you have a senior center? Sometimes they have someone go there to do hair. Check Into it, and if they don’t, maye suggest that as a nice thing to host.
Our weather is the same as yours. We had days in the 60’s, and now it is cold again. A nor’easter for tonight, into tomorrow. It is supposed to stop early, and I hope it does, as Tillie has to go to the podiatrist tomorrow.
please don’t feel you have nothing to say. At least we can try to help you with some suggestions, as we all are in the same position without joints.
I am dealing with insurance with Tillie. She was sent a bill that she should not have to pay for, and it needed her insurance company to send a from to us first, before they would pay the bill. Tillie would have freaked out if she saw it. I am handling it for her.
I know I am not supposed to use the Alleve, but it has been so bad, i just do not care anymore. I am sure all the fluid is what is making it so bad. I know I will have to stop everything week prior to surgery. That is going to be miserable.
Hope you didn’t get the storm we are getting tonight!DD!
They would give me pain meds, but, they make me sick. I can’t tolerate them. I feel like I ahve the flu- very dizzy, nauseous, and sick to my stomach. So, I can’t use them. hence the Alleve, also not good. hope I do nto cause an ulcer….LOl
It will be a couple of days before the results of the MRI are in. i did not injure the shoulder, that I am aware of. read the post further up- the MRI lady said swelling is sometimes caused by a tear. Go figure!
Glad you posted, as I was wondering how you were. Also very glad Sue posted too!!
Hope you have a good week.
Hope everyone has a good week, free of pain, sadness, and aggravation!! Add good weatehr to that too.
Love all you guys!!

Did you ladies see there is a new show starting this Month, I think they said the 16th. I believe it is called Bless This Mess & looks like a modern day Green Acres. I think it could be funny.
-
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is doing fine. Maybe it’s because I live under a log out here, but I never heard of the Beekman 1802 & the goats. They’re adorable.
Have any of you used any of the products? I’ve heard goats milk is better for you, but have never had any. We have a small herd(?) of goats that move from place to place. They use them to eat up overgrown blackberry bushes on vacant lots, or wherever they’re needed. They have them on the news every so often.
I think I saw that commercial for that show. From what little I saw I thought of the movie The Money Pit from the 80s I think? A young couple buys their dream house (fixer upper) that turns into a nightmare. I never saw the movie but saw several clips of it.On a serious note, Jewell has been having issues the past couple days so I’m gonna take her to the vet tomorrow. Hallie brought her some cat food & treats today. I put some out & she gobbled some of down. I won’t get into details but I’m hoping it isn’t anything serious. I’m asking for prayers for my furbaby.
Well, I guess that’s all for today.
Have a good evening.

DD I will say a prayer for Jewell to be okay. They worry us just like children. I hope you have a good vet that takes good care of her.
You know I remember my aunt had goats when I was little. I also saw them on farms when I was working & drove past. It was fun watching them when they were born & were jumping around & playing together.
You were right about the movie. I just saw the cow walking by & her saying she was being attacked so that was why I was thinking Green Acres. A city girl not knowing about farm animals. Now had it been a bull she would of had a right to be worried.
-
Hi Sue,
Thank you for the prayers for Jewell. Hopefully she’ll be okay. I remembered the name of our little herd of goats, Belmont goats. I found their FB page & shared it with all my friends. If you don’t do FB, you can google them & lots of info & pics comes up.Thanks again for the prayers.
dd -
Hi Sue!
I saw the advertisement for it, and it looks hysterical. I like the guy who plays the husband. I can’t remember what show he played in before. Do you know?
Have you seen The Village? OMG- love that new one. I cried at the end of This is Us last night- not unusual, as that show tends to make people cry…..LOL
There are great FBI/police shows on too. We watch FBI, and that other new show that was written by Marcia Clark- the DA who prosecuted OJ.
Adele -
OMG, DD!!!
Of course we will all say prayers for Jewell today. Please let us know what the vet says.
I have not heard of those face/body products either….LOL I use a lot of Ahava products, and the First Aid creams.
We are wishing good thoughts your way, and hope it will be good news for Jewell. I did hear cats can catch a virus from a human. Hoping for something simple, and good health for our Jewell!!
Love, Adele -
Sue and DD…..
I seem to have lived a goat free life…..LOL
One of my old foster parents had a farm and had some goats. the kids saw goats at petting zoos. That is about the extent of my interaction with the goat population….LOL
Adele -
Hi DD,
I will be praying for Jewell.Hopefully it will not be anything serious. He is such a pretty cat.
I must have been living under the same log because I had never heard of them either. I hope that their products are good. It would be nice to hear from someone that has used their product before buying any. Like a lot of people I have to be careful of a lot of products that I use.
We have neighbors that have goats. They are cute especially when they are little. They do keep the grass cut down short. They do get into the road and do not want to get out.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good day.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
My mom lived with her mom and dad until my dad came home. She said that they had a hard time finding a place to live. So times must have been pretty hard back then.
We do not have many nice restaurants around here. We would have to drive to St. Louis to go to a nice place. It is too far to drive and then come back here for the egg hunt. We have such a big yard and it is easy to hide the eggs. Aliza will have so much fun hunting eggs this year. She is so cute.
It is really hard on the kids when the parents find new girl friends and boy friends. I know Owen took it hard. He really did not like it when Danyielle started dating. It was funny he did not care that much when his dad had that woman living with him. I guess he just did not want his mom with anyone else. He is doing okay with Danyielle having Kevin around. He really likes him and they get along really good.
Well that is about from here. Have a great day.
Colleen
p.s. I forgot to ask did you meet the boyfriend? What do you think of him? -
Hi Ladies,
I won’t keep you on tender hooks. Jewell has a digestive issue & will get her some expensive(!!!!!) kitty food. The vet wants me to feed it to her for 2 weeks & see how it goes. I did notice things were changing, but I wanted her checked out. Wish me luck on getting her to eat the same thing for 2 weeks.
Thank all of you for your prayers for her. I could tell something was wrong not just the visual but at the vet she wasn’t her normal self. Normally, she’s all over the room, but she stayed close to me, sitting by my feet. Then she sat quietly on the table in front of me. She’s in her usual spot, sleeping, what she does best!!! LOL
I’ll write more later, I just wanted to keep ya posted.
Love,
dd & Jewell -
Hi DD,
I’m glad Jewel is doing better. I will keep praying for a total recovery. Our pets are part of our family.
I had heard of Beekman. I am trying their TSV as people around here do sell goat soap. I have seen it at fairs and such. it’s supposed to be good for your skin and Greg always complains of dry skin in the winter so I thought he might like it.
Gail -
DD,
I don’t think I ever saw The Money Pit. I will have to look it up. -
Sue,
I think I will try Bless this Mess and see what it’s like. It looks like it could be cute.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I know we did have rationing here during the war. I’m not sure what products were included. I will have to look that up. Speaking of the war right now I am reading a very good book that takes place right after the war. It’s called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. It’s very good and I am also learning a part of history that i didn’t know before by reading it. It’s been around for several years and it’s been on my radar but I am just finally getting around to reading it. Sorry I didn’t read it sooner as I am enjoying it so much.
We don’t do our egg hunt outdoors as we put money in the eggs so that would not be good if we forgot where some were. lol
We have not met the boyfriend yet. I know the kids have and I think he is around a lot. Kendall told me that. lol I can’t believe it is almost a year as it was right after Easter last year when Adam told us what was going on. They have been divorced since last August. That has to be one of the quickest divorces in history. I guess you can get it done quickly if no one fights over any of the agreements.
I have to baby sit Piper and Lachlan later so Jenny and Kendall can do the Girls on the Run thing.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I am thinking it shouldn’t bother Jenny that Adam has a girlfriend since she was the one who wanted out. Life has to go on for him too.
I think the guy on that new show is Dax Shepherd-I recognize the girl too but can’t quite bring up her name right now. I’m not sure what other show he was on.
Well even though we have never had goats we did know the goat lady. She was always calling up and telling me she had new baby goats in case I wanted one. She was quite the character always trying to get us to take baby goats or kittens from her. And then there was the time that Greg did her milking for her when her regular guy was at a wedding and she was afraid he wouldn’t be home in time to milk that night. Suffice it to say Greg will never win a fastest goat milker championship. lol
Hope your shoulder feels better after the uncomfortableness of the MRI.
I ended up having to get a new cord for my computer after I broke the other one when I dropped it. It’s weird. The new one works but it doesn’t plug in all the way. I can’t figure that one out.
Gail -
Hi DD!
I am so glad Jewell doesn’t have any horrible thing wrong with her. Our prayers were answered. I bet you are relieved.
I hope she will eat the food, and get better.
You took such cute pictures of your pretty kitty. She must be so nice to snuggle with. I can hear her purr from here!
We will all be waiting to hear how she does. Have a good night!
Adele -
Hey Gailster
Well, her is why I asked about Jenny’s reaction. More than once, I have seen a woman who left her husband react quite differently when presented with her replacement. If Jenny does have a more jealous reaction, she may still be in love with Adam, and not realize it. Who knows. How did the babysitting go today? Any funny Piper stories?
I cannot visualize Greg milking a goat. No….not coming to me…..that must have been amusing. That goat lady sounds hysterical. She must have een quite the character. Did she dress like a character too?
The shoulder finally calmed down, so that is good. It took 2 days. So glad that is over!
hope you have a good night! Hey….any news on Brent?
Adele -
Gail
Love the bread bunny on top- keep forgetting to tell you that.Colleen
I am better since the MRI- took 2 days to recover from that one.
I am lucky, very lucky, that Tillie is still here. I actually feel guilty that she is here, and your Mom is gone. It is just not fair. Your mom was ding so much better than mine, and she is gone. I always wonder if this is the last holiday with Tillie, as she will be 93 next month, and you just need to be grateful for every single day.
Well,I spoke to the PA for my shoulder doctor, as the swelling goes from the back of my ear- half way on the back of the neck, and all the way down to the elbow. I wanted to know if the MRI showed that much damage to the shoulder, or is it the neck too? When all this first started, I initially saw my spine doctor, who said it was both the neck and shoulder. He did an MRI of my neck, and said the discs up there were starting to collapse. I just need to know if I need to see my spine doctor, before any shoulder surgery. Well, much to my surprise, the PA said swelling in the neck and down the arm like that, is not usually the shoulder. They need to see and feel the swelling and will possibly have me see my spine doctor again.
I have to say, I was suspecting the neck is getting worst. When they did the MRI, the back of my head, and neck were killing me too, almost more than the shoulder. Plus, I have pain in the right big toe, and THAT was the one thing that made them realize when Gary was in a wheelchair that his neck was the issue. Funny, how you remember those weird things.
I have to say, if I need neck surgery instead of shoulder surgery, I would feel better about that- way less recovery issues, and loss of mobility issues. So, Tuesday will be very interesting.
How are you doing?? The girls? Have they been calling you more lately? I am still praying that every day you will find at least one thing to smile about. I hope Ron has been hugging the stuffing out of you! I got to hug Aizen little self a couple of days ago. that made me smile.
Hope your weather is good. We are getting an ice/rain storm. It will be gone by tomorrow am.
Adele -
Hello Ladies. So glad to read that Jewell is better. Hope he will feel better and eat his new food good. Our kitty had a problem with his chruchy treats recently. He would be so mad at us for not giving him the kind he really liked; and as you know they do not want you to change their little routine; as I say, without their permission. lol Our kitty gets on the very top level of his stand when any child visits; so I know he will be spending a lot of time up high while our grandbaby is here.
Sue, besides all the “picking up” I have on my plate right now, you seem to have quite a bit going on right now. I really lead a sort of boring life. My poor husband has really had a hard time with his back; and trufthfully; I am really concerned that he seems so discouraged. I really feel that after all the training and life experiences I have been through; that I should be able to help him but just don’t seem to. I know our Adele is experiencing that grinding won’t let you alone, kind of pain now; so I will be so happy when she is able to get some relief. The doctors just don’t seem able to help him; and he gets so frustrated and let down and discouraged. I so remember when going to the doctor would mean talking really talking and knowing that the doctor was giving your his attention and was showing real concern. I know there are many good ones still out there and God bless them for being so kind. We just feel lost right now; so sorry for the long what was supposed to be encouraging note. LOL
I bet this is a strange time for you Gail with the dating situations, and for your daughter. Hope all goes well, and I am like you, as long as the little ones seem to be doing okay then I would just go on as normal as possible. You and your husband are such good parents and grands. How is Brent doing by the way? Hope he has been told some very encouraging news by now. .
I know you will enjoy the children doing all their Easter activities, Colleen. Our puppy used to run around just like one of the boys to try to find the eggs. They spent a lot of time trying to catch to puppy and retrieve the egg from his mouth. ha ha Such good memories. I spoke to the cake lady yesterday, and she said she would do the Strawberry cake for me with a buttercreme or a whipped frosting. Both sound yummy. I hope Sarah likes it. I know that is her favorite.
Better go for now. I didn’t drop my computer, Gail, but it still acts up on me. This was one of the worst we ever bought. Oh, by the way, I have used the Beekman Goat milk bars, and just love them. They are huge, in fact Jerry cuts it in half for me. But they last forever and are just silky. Hope you enjoy if you got some. Take care everyone. Hugs, Barbara -
Hi Adele,
You should not feel guilty because your mom is still here. I am happy for you and glad that you can spend more time with her. The best thing that you can do is cherish her for all the time that you have her. Give her a hug from me. When my mom had the stroke she was parralized on her right side. She would not want to live like that. So she is with my dad now and her mom and the rest of the family.
It is a good thing that they did that mri and found out that it is your neck. You will be so much better if it is the neck. You are right it will be a lot shorter recovery. I hope they get you in soon to see the spine doctor and get this all fixed.
I am doing ok. I just miss mom a lot and but she is a much better place then she would have been had she lived. She would never want to live in a nursing home and not be able to take care of herself. So God took care of her so she would not have to live like that You need to take care of yourself and get that neck taken care of. That has to be miserable.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen
p.s. Thanks for the card. It lifted my spirits -
Hi Barbara,
Colin is going to be so glad to see you and give you hugs and kisses. He will have such a good time with his grandma and grandpa. He will love being there with you two.
Hope that Jerry will be feeling better. It is hard when you have back problems. He has you there and you will help him thru it. I do not understand why our husbands will not just accept what wrong with them and let it go. They just cannot take it.
I think that it is this fun to watch the kids hunt the eggs. There is always something that goes wrong when they are hunting. We hide the plastic eggs instead of the real eggs there is too many animals that would come and take the real ones. It would be strange to find a snake eating the eggs.
I think that the trouble that we have on here is the site and not our lap tops. This site acts weird sometimes.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Barbara!
Glad you are feeling ok. Sorry Jerry is feeling so awful.
With my back i did have the series of shots a few times, When they no longer worked, I ended up with surgery to do that fusion thing- twice. A bad back is awful. Mine is responsible for gaining 70 pounds- all due to not much movement, and chocolate, of course….LOL
I hope Jerry either gets some treatment, or maybe another doctor.
How many days until Itty Bitty gets there?
I am sure Sarah will love the cake. It sounds delicious. getting ready for Easter is so much fun. It will be here before we know it. I will get my Amanda to help me put the Easter baskets together….LOL
I hope you have a good weekend. everyone here is happy as tonight we get Chinese take-out….LOL
So, I got Gary the Martha Stewart screw gun, (for Fathers day) because it must be light enough for his hands to use. Also got one for Steph for Mothers day. Gary has been playing with it, still trying to fix the rear door bell. Bell is still not working.
Last night I used the set of 2 small oval bakers with lids, and did individual baked beans servings. they were great- kept the beans warm, while the hot dogs were cooking. Gary loved it, as he likes his food real hot. nothing like Temptations to keep food hot. I got 2 sets- one in red for everyday, and one in Egghunt. Love them!
Adele -
Hey Colleen!
I am glad the card made you smile. one of these days, QVC will invent something to send cookies through the mail and have them stay in one piece. The, I will send some to all of you girls!
Are you seeing Aliza this weekend? It maybe quiet over here.
Amanda stopped by yesterday, before she went to work. her belly was killing her- gave her some Tums, and she felt better. She is the Minnion who will help me put the Easter baskets together….whohaa! She loves doing them with me.
Tough night last night, but,if I did nto have a bed that moved, it would have been a lot worst. I cannot tell you how great it is to move the head up a little, and stop the pain. I am very happy I got the bed. This morning, I took my arthritis pill, (Celebrex) and then sat up in bed to watch a recorded show, until they worked. I am in Heaven!
Hope the sun is shining in your area- it is here, and will be for the rest of the weekend.
I am glad you are coming to peaceful terms with your mom’s death. Tillie would also hate to be in a nursing home for the rest of her life too. I am praying that will never happen to her too.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I am going to see Aliza tomorrow. She is going to spend the day. It will be fun to have her here. She will have Ron and I both laughing. I am going to have to get her some type of stuffed bunny for Easter. She is the only little one in the family that will be here. The other two will not be here. Just the older kids. Owen is not interested in stuffed animals any more. I do not know what to give him.
That is nice that Amanda is going to come and help you with the baskets. It will make it so much easier for you. You will have plenty of help this Easter. You have such great kids and they love you and will help you as much as they can.
That is great that you got that bed. It sound like it will really help you thru all this pain. I would love to have a bed like that. I have been trying to talk Ron into getting one. He is not sold on that one though.
It has been cloudy and raining off and on today. It is supposed to be like that tomorrow and then we will see the sun. I just hope by Easter we will have a lot of sunshine and weather that will be nice for the egg hunt.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
I hope Gail, Sue and DD are ok. we have nto heard much from them lately. Gail sometimes doesn’t post on the weekends.
I hope you have a great time with the kids today. With Owen, how about a small Lego set to put in his basket? Or a gift certificate to buy the video games? His age is hard, and girls are so much easier for little gifts.
How has Ron been doing? Has he been getting into trouble lately?
I am really thrilled with the be. I am not waking up all night long, unless it is rainy/snow, and the pain makes me wake up. Even so, the ed helps with the pain too. It is so nice to sleep better. Gary is nto doing well with the bed. He will just not listen to use the different modes to help with his back, and there is nothing I can do about that…..LOL
Amanda is trying to figure out when we can coordinate schedules for the baskets. Too funny!
I just realized we have 2 weeks to Easter…..God help us!! I guess we will be buying, instead of baking this year. I will tyrr to do 2 things- the Anise cookies, and the cream cheese baby pies.
Hope your Sunday is goign well. We are having roasted chicken with veggies.

We all posted a few days ago. I won’t write everyday as there just is not much to say & I just do one post & not a separate one for each.
We are having a semi nice weekend. We had rain all day Friday & it was very cloudy until around 2PM yesterday then the sun came out & it warmed up. Today is cloudy with more rain tonight & tomorrow but it is warmer that Friday. I would just like a day or two of sun & dry but no such luck.
I am just waiting for the 3rd thing to break as things come in 3’s. Yesterday morning my commode would not flush. So I looked in the tank and a plastic piece is broken. I can flush it by lifting up the chain. So I notified the landlord & he is coming sometime tomorrow to check it out. It should not be a big deal if you can buy the needed part & put it in. Then I went in town & my left turn signal does not work. I think it just needs a bulb so need to get that fixed. I do not like driving without it as I think it is dangerous. So what’s next.
I did get an appointment on Wed. for a haircut. When I called back she remembered she had a message from me & apologized for not calling me back. So I go Wed. Morning. Other good news my mammogram is normal. And I got enough points yesterday to get a free ham for Easter. I was not going to buy one but since I can get a free one I will get it & then freeze part of it.
DD how is Jewell? Hope she is doing better.
-
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. Jewell seems to be improving. Still finicky as always. Thanks for asking about her.
I think all of us are getting to the point of giving up on decorating, baking, cooking, for the holidays anymore. I can’t decorate as much as I used to. My sciatica has been really bad the past few days. I can barely walk around the house much less go shopping. I don’t know if it’s the weather or what. My neck & shoulders are aching too. Makes it hard to reach above my head. We’re having a soggy/sloppy weekend here. From the sounds of it it’s gonna be pretty soggy all week. Mudslides, flooding in low lying areas is predicted as well as melting snow & rising rivers & streams. Ah April, time to make up for lost time.
I’m losing what’s left of my mind. I keep misplacing my lids to my Lock & Lock. I try to keep them all together, but somehow they disappear. Jewell must hide them during the night to get back at me for some reason.
Is anyone getting bored with the Q? Maybe it’s just me.
Well, I guess that’s about it for now
Take care, & have a great week ahead.
dd & Jewell -
Hi Adele,
I bought one of those cakes from David’s cookies. It is the one that is all different colors. We got the one that they sold the last 4th of July and every one liked it. So we are going to get it again this Easter. It is pastel colors for Easter instead of the red white and blue.
I was kind of disappointed that Owen did not get to come today. Aliza was here and she was a mess. She did not take a nap and you could tell that she hadn’t. She threw a couple of fits but we ignored it and just let carry on. She can be a handful if she does not get her nap. It worked for awhile until she found out that she would not get her way. She can be a character. One thing that I learned is a new way to play the game candy land. It was funny she would look thru the cards and find the one she wanted and move her man there. Then if I would start to catch up she would knock my piece off the board. Finally told her she won and we quit playing.
Gary will get use to the new bed. He will end up liking it. Most everyone who has the bed like that really like the. I like the thought that you can put your head up if you want to or lay flat. At least you have a choice.
Easter is coming faster then I want it to. I wish that we had more time. It just seems like time is going by really fast. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I am so glad to hear that Jewell is eating again. He must like the new food. That was a lucky break for you I have heard that a lot of cats are picky and you have to keep trying until you find the right one.
We have been getting a lot of rain but all of our rivers here have crested. We are not supposed to have all the problems like they are in different places. I hope that things do not get as bad where you are as they are saying.
I love the picture of the little goat. It is so cute. All of your pictures were so cute. I like all the Easter pictures and cannot wait until Easter is here. I love this time of the year.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Gail…
I just received a post form you from a week ago, which I already responded to- very weird!
Adele -
Hi Sue
Things do sometimes come in threes. I hope the third will be minor, or not come at all.
Great news the mammogram was normal. I love good news.
We have also had rain on and off. today is awful out there- windy, and rain. Very dark and gloomy. tomorrow is opening day for the Red Sox to bein town, and the weather will nto be good. On and off showers, they are saying. I go tomorrow to get the results and plan for the shoulder. I now have about 6 long handled gadgets to aid in one armed bathing…..LOL
You and I get about the same weather, so I will be hoping yours improves fast! LOL We need some sun, with no rain for a few days. We all get so achy when it is like this.
Hope the sun is on it’s way out for you, and you will see the blooms of Spring. The lilacs are starting to get green leaves up here. that is encouraging.
Adele -
Hi DD!
I am so sorry you have been feeling so lousy. The constant rain and damp weather is awful. It makes everything hurt. I hope the weather breaks, and you can feel better.
You are right- decorating has been at a minimum. But, our minimum is everyone else’s maximum! I love the pics you posted. they give us hope that the sun will come out, and Spring will bloom.
Sciatica is the worst. Can you try to lay down, and out some ice on your back? The back is usually the source of the pain, from swelling. It may help you a little. You never know if something can take the edge of the pain. Ihope you can do it, and that it can work for you. I did the ice on the shoulder this morning, and after it is off, it helps a little.
Glad jewell ison the mend. What is up with her taking your lids? Cats can be real funny.
the Q seems to be getting rid of the old things. I have nto seen much of interest either. this is the first season I ahve nto ordered a new Quacker top. they are starting to look like everyone else’s clothes. I love the embellishments, and I am disappointed with the newer ones. today, I have on my new gray zipper hoodie, with the pink flowers. I got 2 of those- the gray one and the black one, with blue flowers. I always wear a tank top, with a long sleeve jacket over it.
I didn’t even see anything of interest on ITKWD yesterday. I love that show, and so look forward to some new gadget.
I hope you are feeling a little better, my friend!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
Well, when I realized Easter was in 2 weeks, I freaked. Since it is 2 weeks away, I don’t think the shoulder wille repaired by then. So, I am trying to figure out what 3 things to make with less stress. The ricotta pie is real easy, so are the anise cookies. Then, maybe the mini cheesecakes- those are real easy too- very little shoulder work. It just doesn’t seem like Easter with no Pizza ghiena, so I may split the recipe in half and make one the size of a 9×13 pan, or smaller. I can use the store bought pie crust for it, and the rest is just mix and spoon into the pan. I am trying to decide….LOL
Aliza is a character. She needs her sleep, or she will not be much fun. Will she nap at your house? you hate to waste her visit with a nap, but,if she is not happy with no nap, you are screwed either way.Sorry Owen did nto come, as you were looking forward to seeing him too.
JJ hates to lose a game. If he loses,he is miserable. A lot of kids are like that. they feel awful if they lose.
I Hope the weather is good in your neck of the woods. Stinks up here…..LOL
Adele -
Hi Everyone,
We have a beautiful day here today. Perfect day for the Cubs home opener. Greg is out golfing for the first time and then afterwards he has a meeting for golf league.
DD, I’m glad that Jewel is feeling better. She is such a pretty girl! Plus I like her name!
Sue, good news on the mammo. I think that broken thing in the toilet is a pretty easy fix. I know Greg has done it before without too much time and trouble.
I hardly watch the Q live anymore. I just copy the shows that I want to see and fast forward through most of them. I have gotten a few Quacker things this spring but not nearly as much as years past. I think they are not offering as much new as they used to. It used to be several new on a show and now it’s one or two new things dribbling in here and there.
Colleen, I ordered one of those pastel cakes for Easter too. We can toast each other when we cut the first slice. I like the way Aliza plays games. it’s funny how the little kids always need to win. It makes me wonder at about what age we learn that we don’t always win and that it’s not the end of the world.
Adele, how much do those little bakers hold? Like a can of vegetables or more? Don’t wear yourself out with the baking. I know you feel guilty if you don’t have the homemade stuff but once you give some of it up it’s quite liberating. lol Teach the next generation how to do it.
I’m glad you are enjoying the new bed. So was it a split king or can you just use one sheet on the bottom instead of two. Hopefully Gary will adjust and learn to love it too.
Friday night the kids were invited to a birthday party over at the bowling alley in a neighboring town. Kendall and Lachlan didn’t want to go but Piper did so Greg and i went over and stayed with the two older kids and Jenny and Piper went to the party.
Today Brent sent me an email saying he and Wendy are probably splitting up and he will be moving out-so here we go again. He will have to find another place to live and start all over-again. He has problems with his back and is going in for a shot next week. Between his health issues and his personal life he is really feeling down. It’s so depressing as there is nothing we can do to really help. He’s had a rough time of it and with him being so far away it’s hard to really be hands on with help. All we can do offer is moral support and help with finances for getting a new place.
Our weather is supposed to get back into the forties again after today. At least we got a taste of good weather.

Gail don’t get me wrong I am so glad you help both Jenny & Brent. It is just so foreign to me as all my life I knew I was on my own. My parents said you can get out of any messes the same way you got in to them. I will always remember dad saying if you get arrested (never did) do call me for bail. I just do not know what it is like having help or support from others.
Yes my repair was an easy one. He came with a new thingy & took the old out & put the new one in. It was done in a few minutes. -
Hi everyone. It is cloudy and the rain seems to have let up for a little. We are just soaked here, and more on the way they say. I think I must be a lot like little Aliza; I get all out of sorts without a nap too. There are days I just have to lay down and before I know it I am sound asleep. If I sleep too long then I get up feeling groggy, but if I don’t take that nap I just feel awful. Mabey Gary will eventually get used to the new bed. I am so glad that it is helping your shoulder though Adele. At least that helps. We are busy but Jerry is sick right now with the flu. I hope and pray he will be quiet and still and get well as soon as possible and that I will be blessed and miss catching it. He tries to bounce back too soon, and we all know that the flu is not something to really take care of. I have already used up a can of Lysol spray and I have this huge bottle of hand sanitizer sitting right on the kitchen bar. So if I can get him better I have LOTS of things to do before our family arrives. But trying really hard not to stress. He has lots of chest congestion, and stuffy head. I know he feels just awful.
Gail, are you getting the chance to read much? I have two sitting waiting for me to start. Something tells me that I won’t get to them for a little while. Did you put much decorations out for Easter? We are going to be crowded ; so I am just putting out a little for the baby and of course; he has an Easter basket. Neal asked me Mom, please don’t send Colin anything we have to box up lol I think he has boxed himself out ha ha. Moving is such a hard chore and to be moving across country; literally; is hard to imagine.
Sue, hope your little broken things are all repaired and the third thing will just forget to show up. lol We had two things go bad a couple of weeks ago; we had to replace our hot water tank (expensive) and then the next day we had a flat tire and my husband said that if we only replaced the one that it would cause the car to run crooked or something; so we had to buy two tires instead of one (again expensive) and since our property taxes came due the following week, I think that was our third thing. So we are just keeping our fingers crossed that this is all. HOpe yours turns out less costly. I felt like poor Adele with the bad leaky roof during the cold rainy weather.
DD, I have been “bored” or something with the Q too here lately. I couldn’t even finish watching David the other day. And some of the food items I really like are so expensive this year. Well actually the price of most everything seems to have gone up. I used to buy button up bloused from S. G. for around $25 and now they are $60, and I guess the Lori fans must be loaded, because to me her line is just outrageous in price. Glad Jewell is better. Our kittly is all snuggled up on the throw right now. I don’t think he is going to like all the noise and confusion to his routine with company coming lol
Colleen, Joey has already seen two big snakes so you all please be on the look out too. This warm rainy weather is bringing them out early I think. Hope everyone has a good evening. Barbara -
Sue,
I am sorry that you did not have much support from your family. Especially after you took care of your parents when they got older. Did you live with them back then or did you go to their house every day to take care of them after you went to work? That would have been an exhausting thing to do if you were working and care giving at the same time.
Brent has had a hard couple of years with all of his medical issues. As we all know even with insurance there are a lot of out of pocket expenses and large copays on expensive tests. And it seems like doctors now a days order lots of tests to cover their own butts. A lot of times the younger generation does not have enough years working to have a financial cushion to offset these unexpected medical expenses. We are fortunate in being able to lend a hand if the kids are having difficulty. If we couldn’t then there would have to be other ways to solve the problem. It is exacerbated by the distance-if he were living and working closer to home he could always move in here for awhile to get him self financially stable again but that is not the situation. He could not just quit work and move back home as he needs that insurance. It’s complicated. But we don’t want him in a situation where he has no place to live and ends up on the streets.
I thought that toilet repair would be an easy fix-thank goodness! That reminds me years ago my sister would work at a camp style resort in the summers and my Mom and Dad and I would go up and visit her. There was a central bath house with showers and toilets and running water but the individual cabins didn’t have any but each had an outhouse so if you needed to go in the middle of the night you had to use the outhouse. When I think back it must have been dangerous to do that as this place was in Minnesota just on the Canadian border and people would be lucky not to run into a bear going to the outhouse in the middle of the night. lol This is why I never liked camping or roughing it in any way. I like my electricity and indoor plumbing.
We have one more nice day and then tomorrow we get rain and colder again. They said even a flake may be possible. We still have the plow on the truck as we have had mid April snow storms before.
Gail -
Barbara,
I hope Jerry will be feeling better soon. He got a late season flu.
The Q has gotten more expensive but I suppose everything else has too. I’ve done so much clothes shopping there over the years that I don’t really know what clothing costs in stores anymore. But I think except for some special things that you can’t find anywhere else the Q may be pricing itself out of the market. The only difference is when I go into a Kohl’s or someplace like that and pick up a tee-shirt it seems so flimsy compared to like a Denim and Co. tee-shirt. And I must say seams never split and buttons never come off Q clothes. Also I am not up charged for wearing a plus size-which all the catalogs and many stores do.
Barbara, I am always reading. If more than two days go by without me picking up a book I actually physically miss it. That must be an addiction-but not really a bad one. One of the last books I read was The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society which is probably a ten year old book that everyone else has already read but has been sitting on my shelf for years. I was sorry I had waited so long as I really enjoyed it and in the process learned something in history that I never knew about before. I have learned so much about different people, places and events just by reading fiction. I believe this is national Library week also. Do you and Jerry still read in bed or does it just make you sleepy? I remember years ago I used to read to Greg in the car on trips-now we listen to music. He just finished building his second guitar. That has become his winter project. He took it with him to rehearsal tonight to show to Tim. I wonder sometimes how one person gets all the talent to be able to sing, play instruments, draw, paint and be athletic. I am not good at any of those things. My biggest talent is talking. lol
I’ll bet you are getting excited to see the kids. I’m so happy for you. I hope you have a marvelous visit.
Gail -
Hey Gailster
I am so sorry about Brent. That kid just cannot catch a break, his health or a nice woman who stays with him for the long haul. I sincerely hope he finds someone nice, and gets married some day. he needs to heal first. Seems all he does is heal, and that is so not fair. I always say a prayer for him, and will continue. You and Greg are all he has, and he knows how good you are to him, and how much you love him.
The bed is a split king- hence the issue with getting the bottom sheets on. Heather has been doing it for us. I need the bed more than ever, as I am not allowed to take anymore Aleve or the indomethacin , per shoulder doctor. they said that is why I could have all the swelling- legs and shoulder.
the little bakers hold a can of veggies just fine. I love them!
So, what is this cake you speak of????
I am very tired form the doctor today- has been raining for 2 days, and I am so sore.
Well, the shoulder is gone, and so far gone, that it developed cysts inside there too. In addition, the rotator cuff is torn. So, off to a full replacement I go. he is doing more scans first, to see if I am healthy enough for a shoulder. Plus, the CAt scan will look into the bones to see if they are ok, and to measure for the new joint. he said with these scans, he will be bale to map out exactly where the jpint will be attached- no room for any errors. the new technology is amazing.
I hope I can read everyone’s posts. If not, I will get to them tomorrow.
Adele -
Hi Sue
I am glad your toilet is all repaired. Seems like this new landlord is a good guy. That is great for you, as you do nto deserve any more problems.
I am sorry your parents were not as supportive. I am sure they did what they thought was best. But, when you had a problem, it would have been nice for someone to have your back. I am still hoping you will meet someone, fall in ove, and have someone to share the good and the bad of everyday life. that is my prayer for you every night. You deserve a nice person to be there for you. being alone all the time is just not fun. At least you have us, but, that is not the best, as we only write to each other. We can’t be there to give you a hug, or bring you some soup. i wish we could.
On the positive side- have you seen all the commercials for that new show with the young family on the farm? Bless this mess? It is hysterical. heather said the Mom yelling to give the cow the phone, so she can yell at the cow, reminds her of me, with her….LOL
Hope you have a good night!
Adele
PS…please read post to Gail for more info -
Hey Barbara
Please read the other posts for all the shoulder news….LOL
I am very tired, but, it I will be fine once I get in my choar and take a quick nap.
thank god for the bed at this point, as i can no longer take the Alleve or Indomethacin. they are afraid i will hurt my heart or kidneys. the swelling they feel is a symptom of that. I hope when I stop both, the swelling in the legs stops too. that would be nice. The next 2 months will not be easy, with the pain, but, it is what it is.
I have been saying a prayer for Jerry to get better, and not get you sick. You both need to be healthy for the visitors!! Dam, Missy Barbara. You two cannot be sick for your company!!!
here is a funny for you. I was in my coat in the waiting room at the doctor’s, and almost fell asleep. My eyes kept closing…LOL It was warm, and when I am warm and snuggled, off I go. So, the nurse calls my name, and I tell Gary to get up first, as I needed to wake myself up….LOL LOL
I hope you have a good night- i am pooped. I even tired to come up the stairs with one arm- worked only on the first half flight of stairs. I willhave to come up the back stairs when I come home from the hospital.
Adele -
Hi All,
Gail, I am sorry to hear about Brent. He is so lucky to have you and Greg there for him.It has to hard on him to have gone thru being ill and all those tests. I just pray that he finds a woman that he can be happy with and marry. He has had a rough time of it. Do you think he will stay where he is or do you think that he will move closer to home? It would be nice if he moved closer to home.
I agree with everyone about qvc. They are getting boring and not getting that many new things. Quacker use to have so many new things to chose from that were really cute. Maybe they will soon.
Adele do not worry to do all that baking. The kids can do it this year. They may just be waiting for you to ask them for help. They may really enjoy having you there to teach them how to make all of the sweets that you make. It will be nice in case there is another day that you cannot do the baking. You can just call them for help.
Barbara, Ron and I are both good nappers. We take one every afternoon. We are like Aliza. I hope that you do not get the flu from Jerry. It is hard when we spread that stuff thru the family. How is Jerry’s back? I cannot believe that you are seeing snakes already. We have not seen any yet but we have tics already. I hate those little things and snakes. They say that they are going to be bad this year.
I guess that we are going to go and clean my mom’s house this week-end. I am really dreading it but we have to do it. She has so much in that house it is going to take awhile to get it done.
Well that is about all from here. I hope all of you have a good night

Well I got my haircut & I like it. I think she did a better job then my former hairdresser. My turn signal is fixed also. They did that yesterday just a bulb so not a big deal. I just did not feel safe driving without a left turn signal.
Gail you ask about my parents actually they lived with me. When the house was going to be sold I bought it so they would not have to move. I got a good price as they considered the years my parents paid rent & it needed a lot of work. I sold it after they were gone as it was to big for me & needed work that I could not afford. I get upset when I drive by as they ripped out every flower we had & removed the front porch and painted the house black. That is just the outside who knows what the inside looks like. But it is theirs now so they can decide what to do with it. -
Hey Colleen
Well, I certainly hope the snake population doesn’t get my friends!! Yuck.
Tomorrow Nancy and Gerald are coming for breakfast. We get take out from the local diner- very good.
I hope you will have all good memories while cleaning out your Mom’s house. Do you think you can get it all done in one weekend? I would figure it would be a few weekends. I guess it depends on how many people you have with you. I will be saying a prayer for all of you.
Hope all goes well for you, right through the weekend!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I am hoping that the snake population does not get very big either. It would be nice if the tics do not stick around either. We will have to spray some stuff on Aliza to keep them off while she is looking around the yard for eggs.
I hope you have a good time tomorrow. It will be nice to have them over for breakfast. The best breakfast you can eat comes from a diner. It is not fun to cook breakfast.
We will not get it done in one week-end. We will have a lot to do and not sure if we will get it all done this month. She has a lot of furniture to get rid of also. We have a coupe of places that people from the family want and so they will take that. My daughter wants the washer and dryer so will try and get them for her. It will be very uncomfortable to go thru all of her things.
Well that is all from here. Thanks for the prayers we will need them.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
I think Brent will stay in New Mexico-at least for now. He has a job and he needs the insurance so he just can’t pick up and leave. What I think would be nice is if he could transfer to the plant in Springfield Missouri (I think that’s where it is) sometime in the future. That would be an 8 hour trip instead of a 18 hour trip. But who knows what the future will bring. People make plans and then life happens.
I’m glad that you can take your time cleaning out your Mom’s house. It will be sad but also it should bring back lots of good memories. I hope that you have lots of help. Who do you think will be coming to help? I’m not sure how close your siblings live.
We have a windy cold day again. They had a lot of snow up in Wisconsin and Minnesota. We just had a little bit yesterday and then it turned to rain and today is rainy and windy. The weather really does go up and down this time of year.
I’m glad that we do not have all the snakes that you and Barbara get. I guess that’s one good reason not to move farther south.
Gail -
Hi Sue,
I’m glad the new stylist worked out. Finding a good one is a difficult task sometimes.
You were a good daughter buying that house so you and your parents didn’t have to relocate. How long have they been gone? My Dad died way back in 1982 and my Mom was in 1994-it’s been a long time for both now. My kids don’t even have a memory of my Dad as he died the year Jenny was born.
I’m glad the turn signal was a quick fix.
We are having a rainy blustery day. A couple of days ago we were in our shirt sleeves and now it’s back to winter coats.
Gail
You wonder why someone would paint a house black! That doesn’t sound very attractive and I honestly can say I don’t think I ever saw a black house. -
Hi Adele,
Boy that shoulder really sounds complicated. I have heard that it is the hardest of the joint replacement surgeries. I think my friend’s sister had it done on one or both shoulders. We will all be saying lots of prayers for you.
Yes, getting those bottom sheets on the split king takes some finagling-we raise the head up as far as it can go and Greg will usually help by going behind the bed and getting the top part on.
The cake is by Jimmy the Baker on the Q-I think. Inside each layer is a pastel color and I thought it would be a pretty cake for Easter. Our local bakery just closed it’s doors so there is nowhere to get any pretty specialty cakes anymore. WalMart just doesn’t cut it in that area.
I think Brent is wise to just get himself a place and concentrate on getting himself better for awhile. In fact I am going to mention in the future if he meets a girl and they want to get together that he has her move in with him-that way if it goes south he will still have his place and his stuff. He has relocated himself for a woman too many times now. Better that he has a sense of independence.
Once a parent always a parent, huh?
I hope you have a nice brunch. That’s the best kind. One that doesn’t involve any actual cooking.
We had fajitas last night. Boy I haven’t made them in a long time for some reason. Another thing I haven’t made in a long time is lasagna. Maybe that will have to be on an upcoming menu. It’s so much easier to cook when Greg isn’t doing no carbs.
Don’t have any plans for the weekend as yet. Maybe I’ll find something exciting to do. I’m already trying to start planning my summer stuff.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. I hope you’re not caught in that awful blizzard I heard about. You can blame us for it. It’s the same storm we had last weekend & it made its way East. But we’re not out of the woods either. There’s awful flooding happening as I write this throughout the state. The river that flows thru Portland is overflowing all over the place. The worst is down where I grew up & lived most of my life. One of the major highways down there is totally flooded. They showed a jet boat actually speeding around the area of the flooding. Stupid is as stupid does. The worst is yet to come tho. More rain is on the way before we finely get a break. They were talking about how low some of the resevouirs are, but they aren’t low now. They had to open some of the dams to release the overflow of the rivers & streams elsewhere in the state. We’re making up for the lack of rain all those months during the winter months. Feast or famine as they say.
How is your shoulder doing Adele? My sciatica is still giving me fits. I tried the ice pack but to no avail.
Glad to hear I;m not the only one who gets bored with the Q. I’m not a fan of all the makeup, a lot of the fashion, or jewelry. I did see Temptations are back with new things. Overpriced, but beautiful colors. I don’t need anymore but the patterns/colors this time of yr are so pretty. My faves are Oceanfetti,
Summer(shells), firework, fireworkfetti. sigh.
Jewell’s doing better. Gets me up then sleeps all day. LOL.
I’m glad the warning about lilies came thru messenger. It also applies to poinsettias at Christmas, & holly berries.Sue,
I’m sorry about not having anyone you could turn to. I was in the same situation. It’s really hard on a person. I knew from early on I was on my own if I got into any trouble. Never did luckily. If I did they’d say it was my fault, even if it wasn’t.
Glad you found a good hairdresser, & got your commode fixed.I saw that cake on Gourmet holiday, it’s from David’s cookies , (not David V). They came out with the 5 layer cake for the 4th of July, last yr I think? then the holidays, it looks delish!!! They say you can’t taste the food coloring in the layers, just the vanilla cake. I bought some of their cookies last fall for the holidays. Sooooo goooood!!! I love the chocolate chunk one especially.
Well, I guess that’s all for today.
Take care & stay safe!!
dd & Jewell

Hi Gail,
It is a shame that they do not have a plant closer to where you and Greg live. It would be so nice to have him close to home and where you could be there to help with the doctor and all his health problems. It would be another good place. You could see him more.
There will be four of us there. Two of my sisters and my brother and myself. His wife will be there and Ron will be with me. At least with the two guys there they can help each other carry things out.
I was wondering if you got that snow where you are. We saw that the temps were dropping really fast there. It is getting cold here now but we are not supposed to get any of the snow. We did get some rain tonight but we did not get much of that either. We do not need a lot of rain right now.
The cake that I bought is by Cookies by David. I bought the cake that they had in July and it was really good. That is why I bought it again. I got it on the plan where you get it so often. I cannot remember what they call it. I am losing my mind. I do know that it was really good. If you bought one Gail you will really like it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
You did not have to send that storm our way. We really did not need it. We are not getting the snow just some rain and the cold. Just hope that you do not have a lot of flooding.
I really like the pictures that you posted. Especially the picture of Jesus with the sheep. That is such a pretty picture. The dog with the chicks are really cute. That is so funny to see them follow the dog. You would not think that they would follow he is so big.
I just hope that the q comes up with some good shows before long. I use to be able to find things that I needed for a good price. Now they do not have the things I need and what they do have is getting too expensive. I hope that they are not getting to big and will get too expensive.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night and stay safe if you have to go out.
Colleen -
Adele,
DD and Colleen are right-the cake is from David’s Cookies not Jimmy the Baker like I said-sometimes I get confused. It is really cute though with the different color pastel layers. I think the kids will like it. -
DD,
I’ve had David’s cookies before too that I bought from their website. I bought the frozen dough that you can cook and they were quite good. I would do that again.
Glad Jewell is doing better. How old is she getting to be?
It’s funny how different people have different tastes. The jewelry, clothing and makeup shows are the shows that I like the best on the Q-I guess we know which one of us Quackers is the vain one. lol I used to watch all the cooking shows until I found that I don’t need one more kitchen gadget in my house and even started giving some of my stuff away that I hardly ever use and was just taking up shelf space.
We had the flooding problem earlier this spring with rain and snow melt all coming at the same time. We are not out of the woods yet as we could get some snow flakes on Sunday-but hopefully nothing will stick.
Gail -
Colleen,
I’m glad your sisters and brother and Ron will be helping with the clean out. Maybe Mandy could use some of your Mom’s furniture for her new place if none of your siblings want it. That would probably help her a lot.
Yes, it was the David’s cake that I ordered. I got the names mixed up. I thought the kids would like all the different colors. Especially Piper who is now heavily into unicorns and they are associated with rainbows and colorful things. I’m glad you said that it was good as you never really know for sure when you order something like that. I knew I liked their cookie dough that i had ordered before from their web site. So you are on auto delivery-is the fourth of July cake red white and blue? I think I missed that last year. We may have been traveling.
Yes we were lucky to miss that last storm. Our friends that have the place in northern Wisconsin got a lot of snow up by their place-they were going to go up this week but decided to put it off when they heard they were getting a lot of snow up there. They already had a lot of snow cover-everything probably won’t be all melted up there until May.
Gail -
Hi Colleen
My thoughts will be with you this weekend. I hope you can plan a nice lunch or dinner with everyone, so you can all have a little fun after all the work.
It was fun to have nancy and Gerald here for breakfast. AFter they left, heather , Marissa and Amanda came by. Amanda stayed and did the Easter baskets with me. We had to put them all in a big green trash bag, as the boys are sleeping over with Heather this weekend. I am so glad that task is done.
Tillie has nto been feeling well the last few days. I honestly think she is nervous about me and Heather, and that is what is making her sick. I just hope I can get her to stop worrying, and relax, so she will not have a problem too. She had wanted to come upstairs to see nancy, and Gerald, and was not able to. Oh well.
It is a gloomy day here, and we are getting the remnants of the storm that was in the Midwest. my bones are definitely feeling it….LOL
I hope you are ok, and get a lot of work done this weekend….with some fun in there to!
Adele -
hey Gailster!
I hope Brent finds a nice comfy place for himself. I feel so bad for him. He has been dealing with so much loss. I know we all thought this woman was a keeper for him, and it is such a shame it ended. He will always be in my prayers.
The brunch went well- lots of laughter,of course. We need to do another one, before my surgery. I will only be in the hospital one day- released on day 2. I am not that happy about that, as it is easier to get help in the hospital, than at home when it hurts bad. I guess it should be ok. Home always feels better.
How has Greg been doing on the low carb diet? I have to reduce my carbs ( that means chocolate too) as my sugar levels have been going up. The last few mornings, they have been between 123 and 140- way too high for an early morning sugar level. I need to get it under 100. The 10 Robins Eggs I have been eating at night are not so good….LOL I am addicted to those every Easter. The Whoppers Robins eggs, with the malted milk centers…..LOL
I looked for that cake you were talking about- it is gone. Too bad, as that would have been good for Easter.
We are getting the remnants of the storm today, into tomorrow. My poor shoulder is feeling it. It is what it is, as they say. Yes, a shoulder replacement is the worst of all the joints, especially if the rotator cuff is damaged. Leave it to me, to get the worst. When GAry had his shoulder done, there was no damage- just arthritis.
I hope you get to see the kids tonight. Asof today, our kids are on vacation. Heather will be sleeping over with the boys tomorrow. She had the biopsy Wednesday, and she was very uncomfortable the first night. She was better yesterday. She gets the results next week.
Ihope you have some fun this weekend!
Adele -
Hi DD and Jewell!
So glad Miss jewell is better, and back to her old self!!
Love the pic of the cute bunnies. That’s my favorite one.
So, I looked at the Davids cookies cake- 60.00??? Are they nuts?? If i got that, and did nto like it, I would not be happy. So, I am not going to try it for that price. I would need a guarantee it was delicious….LOL
Yes, I do want to thank you for the storm- we are the last to get it. I hope the rain stops in your area, so it will not cause further issues.
the highlight of my day will be watching Blue Bloods tonight. I hope it is not a repeat….LOL
I am sorry the ice did not work. That is the only thing that works for me right now. Gary did go out to get the extra strength Tylenol for me, and I hope they help a little.
I hope you have a sunny weekend, and the weather was wrong….
Adele -
Hello everyone…….so, can I get a guarantee the 60.00 cake is worth the price? LOL LOL
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
I started a post last night but lost it so I shut down. Adele, I hope you got your blood sugar under control. That’s not a good thing. Oh the cake looks awfully good on tv. five layers of cake & weighs 5-6 lbs. I think they said it serves up to 20 people. I’d get one but I can’t eat that big cake. They have auto delivery now that it’s so popular. They started out with the 4th of July patriotic one, now they have spring, fall, & Christmas cakes. I got the frozen cookie dough last fall & they were great!! Ya know if it isn’t what you thought it would be you can get your $ back. I got a batch of those meltaway cookies from Jimmy the baker a couple yrs ago & they were terrible!! I called customer service & they refunded my $. And no I didn’t return them.
Colleen, I hope everything goes well when you clean out your mom’s home. Keep something of hers that makes you smile/happy. You could give some of it to a charity organization that helps women affected by domestic violence or the homeless. They didn’t exist back when my mom passed so we ended up giving most of her things to Goodwill, or we divided it amongst us kids.I have some bad news, we’re getting more storms this weekend. Another soggy weekend. I’m sorry. We had a dry day today, so that helped the rivers recede. Just last month they were talking about how low some of them were & we are in for a drought. They had to open some of the dams to relieve some of the pressure of all that rain. I’m not in any danger from the flooding. I hope you’ll all be safe.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
Take care.
dd & Jewell -
Hi Gail,
Mandy has her own furniture. Her husband did not take any of it she got it all. She had just got a new couch and kitchen table and chairs. He lives in some hotel or motel somewhere. His dad pays for him to stay there. I guess nobody wants him to stay with them.
I think that you will really like that cake from Davids. We have had it before and everyone in the family liked it. That is why I bought it again for Easter. I will not have to bake just have dinner in the oven. We have so many things that we bake in the oven it will be nice to have cakes and things to bake also.
It seems that the snow went north of us so we lucked out. it is supposed to be really cold Sunday. It is going to rain and maybe some snow. I hope that they are wrong about the snow.
There will be enough of us to get a lot done Sunday. I just wish that we would get it all done but that won’t happen. I think the main thing that we are going to do is give everyone the things that mom left us. That should be interesting. I think that a lot of her things were for certain people. I just cannot remember what she told me.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
If you buy that cake if you do not like it they will refund your money. I bought a cheese cake from JRS. and they had just packed it in a brown box instead of one of the styrofoam ones. It was a mess when it got here. QVC refunded the money without any questions. I have not bought anything from JRs. since that happened.
Sounds like you had a busy day. It was nice that you all had so much fun. How nice that Amanda and you got the baskets fixed. It must have been fun with Heather and the boys staying the night. Sounds like you had a really good day and night.
I hope Tillie is feeling better. It could be the weather that is causing her to feel bad. Hopefully the sun will start shinning and everyone will feel better. I hope Heather is feeling better. I have been praying for her and that they get her cancer again. It would be even better if it is a false alarm.
I hope that we get a lot done Sunday so we do not have to keep going back. We will have a lot of people with there. I hope that we do not fall over each other. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
Thank-you DD we will be glad to get it all done. We all will take things that mean something to us she has enough for us to take a lot of things. She has a lot in her house and she had things that meant something to her and each one of us. Mom had a charity that she wanted her clothes to go to. She wanted us to take what we wanted and give the rest to that place. She really had it all worked out.
That is not good that you are getting more storms. I am glad that you are in a safe place and not in danger of being flooded in. We live in a place where it does not flood. We do have a couple of low water bridges but they are not on our part of the road. So that is not a big problem for us.
If you did decide to buy one of those cakes you can cut so much off of it and put the rest back in the freezer. We did that with the one that we got on the fourth. It is just a really good cake.
Well that is about all from here. You and Jewel have a great night. Hope she is still doing well
Colleen -
Hey DD!
OMG- love the little chickie pics!!
Here were my numbers for early am for the last few days: 123,140, 134, and 131. It really should nto be more than 100. Before dinner yesterday, it was 91, and that was ok. I do know when a body is stressed out, all your numbers are off. i don’t want to be diagnosed as a diabetic, if I am not. hence, watching them closely, and eating even less carbs than usual. All I had yesterday ( for carbs) was 1/2 bagel, 2 bites of rice at supper, and about 3/4 cup of lo mein. Everything else I ate was a meat, or veggie. I ate Kung Pao chicken, with mixed veggies for dinner, with 2 teriyaki beef sticks, and a couple of chicken wings…..with the very small scoop of lo mein and 2 bites of rice. I didn’t even have a fortune cookie. However…..I did have my 10 Robins Eggs….had a break down, as I was keeping it to 8 pieces a night. I may have to go to 6. I just can’t give those up at Easter time!!
Dam, girl…..you keep donating your rain storms to all of us. Send them down south…..LOL
Wait until Gail sees those butterflies. Those are her favorites.
I have to say this….not thrilled with the new Quacker tops. I love the sparkle and shine, not overwhelming flower patterns. I wish they did more elegant embellishments, like in the old days. Tops like these new ones can be bought at Kohl’s for a lot less money. Is it me, or what? Quacker is supposed to be different, and gorgeous. I better hang onto my older tops, and treat them very well. What do you think? Am I showing my age? Anyone remember the fabulous sweater sets, with the glitter all over the front, a short sleeve under, and a cardigan on top??
Hope it is not raining very hard at your place, and that the weather people were wrong.
Adele -
hey Colleen
I pray there is no snow to get in the way of your clean out day. Hoping you get a lot done.
I am going to order the cake- the pastel one, I think. I know DD loved the cookie dough she got from them too.
Thank You for the prayers for Heather. I am praying the results come in early in the week, and they are good, or, at least easily cured.
So, today is 70 out there. We never took the furniture covers off, and they are full of water, so we can’t sit on the deck yet….LOL It will be a little cooler tomorrow, and overcast- rain storm for Marathon Monday. Now, every time it is Marathon day, I get spooked. I hope nothing happens.
Did you hear about that little boy thrown off the 3rd floor in the Mall?? I can’t get that awful horrible news out of my head. I keep praying that he will be ok. he will never be the same, but I am praying his little bones can be repaired, and he has no brain damage. I heard the Devil who did that was known to Mall staff, because he did things in the Mall before. Why do they let violent people into a Mall? I am heart sick for that poor mother.
So, no kids for me this weekend. Steph said the boys have not been feeling good, and she is afraid I will catch do something. I know she is right, but, dam, I was so looking forward to the laughs. No fun for me……..
I Hope you have a good time remembering all the good times with your Mom. Also hope you end the days by having a nice dinner with your siblings, and good memories.
You are in my thoughts this weekend….
Adele -
Forgot to say….
Tillie is better today. Sun is shining, so it may have been just all the rian. Thank God. the electrician came yesterday, and installed the light in her shower- now she can see better in there too.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Well, another lazy Sat. afternoon out here. It was raining pretty hard this morning but quit now. They say the rain/showers will last thru mid-week, then it’s supposed to warm up. By next weekend we’re supposed to be 70 or so. Sounds like we might have a nice Easter Sunday.
I know what you mean about the chocolate. It’s my fave food group, lol.
I have some of the Quacker shirts I bought yrs ago. Do you remember the corduroy shirts they used to sell back in the 90s, I think. I still have a couple of them but they’re coming apart at the collar. I have the royal blue with jars of canned fruit or jelly, & blue with butterflies. I used to have the sweaters with butterflies in pink & yellow till I out grew em. That was a looong time ago. I kept my Christmas sweaters, I couldn’t part with em. Do you remember the tops & sweaters with the Easter themes? Bunnies, tulips, chicks, flowers? I never was able to get any. I love the lavender, pink & yellow shades they used to have.
Well, I guess that’s all I have for today. I have a basketball game tomorrow with Diane. It’s a playoff game with the Trailblazers & the OKC Thunder. It’ll be on national TV tomorrow afternoon.
Take care.
dd & Jewell -
Hi Adele,
I hope you can get the cake. You will really like it. I heard that they were sold out but am not sure. I think you will really like it and so will your family. I am really going to feel bad if you do not like it.
It will be nice if they give her the results so all of you do not have to think about this during Easter. I am also glad that Tillie is feeling better. It would be nice if the sun would come out and stay out for awhile. We will need the sun on Easter. Is all of your family coming to your house for Easter? My youngest will not be able to come because they do not have enough time off.
I did not hear about that boy that was thrown over the balcony. That is awful. Did they know this kid that did it? I hope that kid gets punished for what he did no matter if he is a young person or not. He deserves to be punished just like an adult. I cannot imagine how his poor mom could take all of that and there was nothing that she could do.
That is a shame that the kids did not get to come to your house today. It is disappointing when you are expecting the kids and they do not come. It was probably a good idea to keep them away from you if they have been sick. You do not need to catch that.
That is about all from here. Thanks for the prayers we will need them.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
Well your rain has found its way to our area. We are just hoping that it does not turn to snow. It just keeps colder. So it will be interesting to see what it is like here in the morning.
It is really sad that quacker keeps making the clothes that they are making. They always had such cute things and now they do have a lot of tops with the big flowers. We need more sparkle and shine. I cannot wear those tops with the large flowers. They make me look like a blob. We will have to wait and see what they have in the summer.
I love the pictures that you posted. They are so cute and bright and cheerful. Thank-you for posting them
Colleen -
Hi DD!
yes, I remember the Easter tops. I have 2 of them- a pink and blue. Tillie has one of them too, and another one I do not have. The thing is, one is a 2x, and I hope it will look ok. I don’t want to get rid of it, as they just don’t make them anymore.
I don’t remember the ones you were talking about, becasue I was not a Quacker way back then. I learned about Quacker Factory in about the year 2004. I was complaining there were no holiday tops in the stores for anything but Christmas, and my friend told me about the Q. I have been addicted ever since!
OMG- I just heard the Property Brothers sell things on the Q- it was a commercial on ITKWD. Today, he has some good things on. A set of big bowls form Lock n Lock, and nice tongs. i got a set for me, Heather and Steph for Mothers day.
I love the pic of the hen with the little chicks. How cute are they!!
I hope you have a good time at the game. Also hope it doesn’t rain on you. Have a great time!!
Adele -
Hi Colleen!
The boy was thrown off the balcony by a complete stranger- a man. This man was known to the Mall security, and had previously been banned from the Mall for violent outbursts/assaults. The order to stay away from the Mall had ended. he was caught by the police, very quickly. I hope someone in jail gets to him. He is pure evil- the Devil himself. Last I heard ( last night) the child was fighting for his life. I have been praying so hard for this poor little thing.
Well, i guess it was a good thing they did not come here last night. Both of them were sick all night, coughing and congested. Steph had cough syrup from the doctor, but Heather said it did not work well enough for a good night’s sleep. i hope they are better for Easter. Plus, JJ is now sick for his vacation.
I am hoping the cake arrives for Easter. I had to get the rainbow one, as the pastel one was gone. I am sure I will like it, as all of you like it….LOL
Heather’s doctor said the results take a week, so they should be in by Wednesday. I hope so, as we are all waiting . Maybe we will be lucky and they will be in sooner…..
I hope you are getting a lot done, and still able to have some laughs while you do. Please be careful so you do nto hurt your back!
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Adele, Where have you been girl??? The Scott bros. have been on the Q several times!!! Jonathan & Drew have been on for summer decorating, holiday, even a TSV or two along the way. One of the first things I got from QF was a kitty sweater (what a surprise). IT had those little tinkle bells sewn on. I got several pieces that had the button covers from yrs ago. I kept a few, but they were taking up room so I gave em to a lady who was more crafty than I am & she made em into magnets for people. At least they were useful.
I think you’ll enjoy the cake. They keep bringing it back & they keep selling out. The next one up will be the patriotic, red, white, & blue. I’m getting their version of a mini cheesecake in chocolate. It’s 3 layers & looks delish.
Oh this morning as I was getting ready for the ballgame, I heard a band & choir somewhere nearby. Turned out the church next door had their choir, band, & congregation walk around the block. I don’t remember them doing that before.
The Blazers won the game, by the skin of their teeth!! It was a real nail biter down the stretch.
Well, that’s all I have for today.
Have a great week everyone.
dd -
Hi Adele,
That is just so sad about that little boy. They should the little boy’s mom and dad just beat the stuffing out of him and then toss him over the railing. See how he feels afterward. That is just terrible.I will say a prayer for that little boy.
You sure did not want to catch what the boys have. You have been in enough pain with out getting sick. Just take care of yourself so you will be feeling well for Easter.
The cake should arrive in time for Christmas. You got a different cake then what I bought. I got the pastel one. The pastel is like the one that I bought for the 4th of July. I do not think that I have bought a cake that does not taste good. Just that mess with the cheese cake.
You never know how long it will take to give the results of tests. They do not think about how anxious the person is that had the test. It is terrible to make people wait like that.
It is going to take a long time for us to clean out mom’s house. We cleaned one half of the basement. Mom had shelves with all her holiday decorations and we got that all cleaned off. We still have a lot to do. We got that done and then got the list of things that mom wanted us to have and everyone got those things. So now we are just cleaning the house out and will take things to different charities. It was hard part of the time but we did not all break down and cry at once. So that made it easy on the guys.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night night.
Colleen -
Hi Everyone,
Well we got about 3 to 4 inches of snow yesterday. It looks so weird outside with snow on the ground and buds on the trees. It looks like a Christmas picture outside rather than an Easter picture.
Colleen, I’m glad that you have time to clean out your Mom’s house and do not have to rush. Are you on Auto delivery for that cake. if we like the Easter one I think I will go on it starting this summer with the 4th of July one.
DD-does your friend have season tickets to the Trailblazers? Aren’t play off tickets hard to get? Sometimes all those steps in a stadium are daunting. The last time we went to a Cubs game with a fundraising event we had nose bleed tickets and it was like climbing Mount Everest to get to them. Years ago we used to get both Cubs and White Sox tickets from vendors at Greg’s work that were right up in the front-maybe a few rows back but those days are long gone. Companies don’t do that anymore.
I like the pictures of those baskets of puppies. sometimes I just have to go into the pet store to look at the puppies and get what I call my “puppy fix.” lol
What a beautiful butterfly quilt!
I have a lot of those Quacker button shirts that I just never wear anymore as I find teeshirts more comfortable. They are so pretty but I think it’s time for them to go into the donation bag. I think I may still have a bag of button covers too somewhere-they are basically a thing of the past now-and in fact I rarely used them when they were popular as I found them bulky. I think Quacker still makes pretty things. I don’t mind the big florals. I understand that they can’t do the same thing over and over-they have to grow and change with the styles. I just don’t think they have as many new things each season as they used to.
I wonder if the church across the street from you was having a procession for Palm Sunday.
Adele, I will keep praying for Heather. It’s too bad that you missed seeing the boys. Hopefully JJ won’t be sick all vacation. It’s funny our kids had spring break two weeks ago. I was saying to Greg that even though they go to a public school which is supposed to be secular it’s funny how they manage to figure something out to get Good Friday and the day after Easter off. lol
I remember one year I was in church on Easter and I had a runny nose and i guess i must have been snuffling and sniffing a lot as midway through Mass the woman in the pew in front of me very discreetly laid some kleenex on the pew in front of me. lol
If Easter had been yesterday we would have been hiding eggs in the snow. lol Yes, the property brothers have been on the Q for maybe a couple of years. I think one of my Christmas door decorations with jingle bells on it is from them. It’s cute!
Gail -
Hi DD!
I am going to have to check out their stuff….LOL That is too funny that I missed them completely.
We had loud thunderstorms this am, and more for this afternoon. The thunderstorms have made lightning bolts come out of my shoulder….LOL I have ice on it right now.
The Red Sox are not gon great so far this year. Sometimes they start off slow, and then they get going.
Speaking of our teams….I am predicting the Patriots will never win a series again. I think the bad carma of the owner sets a tone for the players. I bet they are embarrassed to be part of the Patriots at this point. I am completely disgusted with Robert Kraft. His wife is turning in her grave.
The Marathon is all but finished. the slower runners will be straggling in for hours, and I hope they get in before the next round of thunderstorms start.
that must have been nice to hear the choir sing this morning. What a nice treat!
Hope your day is good, and weather bright and sunny….
Adele -
Hi Colleen
You got a lot done at your Mom’s. It is completely expected to break down, from time to time. The loss of your Mom is very new, and raw. Did you take some of her decorations for yourself, or the girls? I bet your mom had a lot- just like you.
Take a look at your post, for a good laugh….you said the cake I got should arrive by Christmas….LOL LOL
I have nto heard anything on our news about that little boy. I googled it, and they said he was still alive. I can’t tell you how sick that story made me. I am praying for him to recover, and have no brain damage. the poor little thing does not deserve this, nor do his parents.
Amanda just told me she will be out of work at 4:30 on Easter, so she will be able to at least have left over Easter dinner. That is good news.
I hope you have a good week. That new funny show about the couple who buys a farm is on tomorrow. I am dying to see it. I know Sue is too.
Have a good day!
Adele -
Hey Gailster…..
Well, our kids don’t get Good Friday, or the day after Easter off. However, if you decide not to send your child to school on Good Friday, they are not marked absent. I guess that is their compromise. Easter has been so weird with the date the last few years, it has nto matched with Spring vacation. I remember when it always seemed to be the week after Easter. Now,it is matched with Marathon Monday. You are right- Quacker needs to keep with current fashion trends. I guess I am just not a fan of the huge flower patterns. They make me look huge.
Thank You for the prayers for Heather. Actually, I need to thank all our Quackers for their prayers….thank you, everyone!!!!
So, the person who is trying to bake less, copied a recipe for those French Macarons…..LOL I REALLY want to try them, and so does Heather. Heather wants to help with baking. Only thing is, she is nto a morning person…..LOL If I wait for her to come at noon, I will never get done, as there is a lot of oven wait time. Pizza Ghiena takes an hour to bake, and the ricotta pie cools in the oven. For these baking items, I really need the bottom oven for proper baking. The small oven is tricky, and a lot of times, the bottoms of baked good burn. So, i decided to do the ones that need more oven time before she gets here, and then we can take out time with the cookies. Hence, Pizza Ghiena will be Fri am, and ricotta pie, Sat am. LOL God help me….I hope the weather will be good, so the shoulder will feel good.
Hope you are having a good day, and the dam snow is melting!! seriously? Snow on Easter?? Not fair, Gailster. I bet you and Greg are all done with snow.
Adele -
OMG….just heard the Notre Dam Cathedral in Paris is on fire. That seems like a message to Christians on Holy week. I hope nobody got injured. Also hope it is an accident, and not another terrorist incident.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I’m glad that Heather is helping you with the baking. It will be easier the two of you working together-and more fun too-having company in the kitchen.
I am huge so I don’t worry about the large flowers making me look that way-if i like’em-I wear’em. lol
Well-it snowed Sunday and most of the snow is gone by today.
That is so sad about Notre Dame-I’m glad that they were able to save the artwork and the relics. I was wondering about that.
Gail -
Hey Gailsters!
Heather’s doctor’s office said the reports are in,but, the doctor has not reviewed them yet. So, we wait. I feel if she did not get an early am call, the news may be ok. Bad news comes fast.
Well, the fire at the cathedral seems to have been due to workers. How awful. Those poor workers will feel the weight of the destruction. Can you imagine having that on your conscience? Awful, just awful.
Heather and I are going to attempt French Macarons. I have the recipe from the King Arthur Flour website, and I called the baker’s hotline with a few questions. they are complicated, but, not hard….I think….LOL Imagine, after they are all done and formed on the cookie sheet, they need to be “aired out” for 2 hours, prior to baking them. then, after you make the filling, and put them together, refrigerated for a day, and then brought to room temp to eat, when you are ready to eat them. Funny, huh?
I am so glad the snow is gone. just not in the Easter spirit with snow on the ground. Are you going to Jenny’s for Easter?
Hope your day is sunny- it is sunny here, but chilly. that enw funny show is on tonight!Adele
-
Hi Ladies,
BREAKING NEWS ALERT: The Scott Brothers kick off their Wed. TSV tonight. I don’t know what it is yet, but they’ll be on all day tomorrow through out the day. Just thought I better let everyone know. I’ve never watched their TV show, but I’ve heard about it. They are a couple of characters.
I can’t wait to see that new show tonight. Looks hilarious!!! Imagine being afraid of that cow. LOL.
Well, not much going on here. Overcast skies, but no big downpours. Thurs. is supposed to be 70+. We might even squeak out a nice Easter weekend. If I don’t get back on here, I hope everyone has a Blessed Easter holiday & have a great time with your families.
dd & Jewell -
Hi DD
Well all be watching that show tonight….hopefully laughing our butt’s off!
I have to go for the CAt scan tomorrow, so I could miss the show. I can google the items later.
I also wish you a blessed Easter. Are you going to your friend’s house? Or staying home with Critt? How has he been?
The cake arrived today, and it is safely in the freezer. Looks good…..yum, yum.
I hope you get a chance to come on, and say how much you liked that new show.
Have a good night!!
Adele
PS…love the “cant sleep” one/ -
Hi Gail,
I am on auto delivery for that cake if it ever comes. It was supposed to be delivered on the 15th but it is still not here and they have not sent me anything saying that it shipped. I am starting to get worried.
We got a lot done last Sunday. We still have a lot to do. I cannot believe that mom had that much stuff. She had been clearing stuff for a long time and still had that much stuff. There is not a cabinet or closet that is not packed full. I hope we can get it done within the month.
You got all the snow it mostly went around us. We had some snow and sleet but it melted just about as soon as it hit the ground. We really lucked out. It was really cold all that day and that was about it.
I have been busy trying to get the house cleaned for Easter Mandy and the kids are going to come over and help some on Thursday. I still have to go shopping for Easter. I am so far behind this year that it is not funny. I would love to get all this done by tomorrow night. I get tired of cleaning.
I never did buy the tops with the button covers. I just never did get into them. I wish now that I had the button covers may be nice to have. I am like you though the T-shirts are a lot more comfortable.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I did get a lot of ornaments for me but the girls will talk me out of some of them. They always do.I will have them for awhile though. I have to get my Easter decorations out before it is too late. I think that this year we have done a lot of packing and unpacking. Once we get done at mom’s I do not plan on packing or unpacking for a long time.
Well it was right, you should have that cake by Christmas .lol I cannot believe that I wrote that. I have no idea what I was thinking when I wrote that. I really hope that you get it for Easter and not have to wait til Christmas.
They should be able to give Heather the results if they have them there already. It would be nice if he read them before the holiday so you all will not be thinking about it all the time. She is in my prayers and so is Tillie.
I cannot imagine what that man was thinking when he pushed that little boy over. That is just so sad. I have been praying for him and hoping that he will be okay mentally and physically.
I am so glad that Amanda will be there for dinner. Even though she will be late she will still be there.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I have never watched the Property Brothers either but I just did DVR a couple of shows to see if I liked them. I do like house and decorating shows.
Gail -
Adele,
I continue to say prayers for Heather.
I haven’t watched the new show yet. Maybe we will get to it tonight.
For someone who is trying to simplify those macaroons look pretty complicated to me. I looked up a recipe- but they do look light and spring like.
I heard a report on the Today show this morning that the little boy who got pushed over the railing at The Mall of America is still in critical condition. They said that the man who did it had gone to the mall the previous day looking to kill someone-and then came back the next day and pushed the boy. How can he be in his right mind?!! What a horrible tragedy!
Nothing much going on around here. I just found out we will probably not be going to KC this year as the company that usually has the golf outing is not having it this year. How will I ever get my anniversary present from my favorite jewelry store?!!!
We are supposed to get storms tonight and tomorrow. I hope they won’t be bad ones.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
We are going to brunch so i won’t have to cook for that. I do have to run to the store tomorrow and order my sandwiches and pick up some candy for the kids. My house needs some cleaning too-so I will be working on that.
You know you should go to the QVC website and sign in to your account and check your order status on your cake. That way you can see if it has shipped yet. I’ll bet it shipped Monday and you will get it today.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
You should be getting the cake any day now. I got my notices my orders have shipped out. You might have received it already. Mine was dated for shipment as the week of 4/15.
I’m glad you kept some of your mom’s decorations. I understand all too well about the packing/unpacking, but for other reasons.
I’m going out to dinner for Easter. Hallie texted me this morning inviting me to go to Shari’s with them on Sunday. That way neither of us has to cook!!!I heard they’ve raised a billion $$ for the restoration of Notre Dame cathedral. And they’re pretty sure it was an accident. It’ll never be the same.
Well, I don’t have anything else so I guess I better get busy.
Take care & have a wonderful Easter
dd & Jewell -
Hi DD
I heard that too. Great that the wealthy business people in France are stepping up to the plate. Speaks volumes for their people. Such a shame it happened.
Dd you see the show last night? OMG- it was so funny.
I am so happy you are going to your friends for Easter dinner. That is great news.
I got the cake yesterday, and it is safely back in the freezer. I may use it for Bobby’s birthday, or Easter. Can’t wait to taste it!
I hope you have a great Easter. We are getting 1 to 3 inches of rain between friday and Sunday. Yuck.
I had the CAT scan today, so that is done.
Heather got her results. She has dysplasia. That is the pre-cancerous cells. They will be removing them soon- no date yet.
Hope your day is goign well!
Adele -
Hi Colleen!
I read inyour post to GAil that Mandy is coming tomorrow. So glad she will be with you for Easter, and the grands.
Please read the post to DD, as most of the news isin there….LOL I am a little pooped form the CAT scan today. The pain was so bad today, I felt like I was drunk, and about to vomit. Hence, I lost my footing going into the hospital, and almost fell. I was able to catch myself, and Gary grabbed my arm. He made me get into a wheelchair, which made the rest of the trip easy for me.
I heard the little boy had brain damage. I am heart sick over that poor child. I cannot imagine how his parents are dealing with this. So senseless.
I hope you are having a good day. Don’t clean too much , as the kids will be making a mess…..LOL
Loved that show last night- Bless this Mess.
Thank you for the prayers for Heather- she will be fine, I hope, once the cells are all removed.
Adele -
Hey GAilster
Please read the other posts for all the news.
That SOB should rot in hell for what he did to that poor baby. I heard the same thing. What a coward. If you want to hurt someone, pick on someone your own size. A coward hurts a small child. A coward who will rot in hell. I am praying there will be a miracle, and he will not have brain damage. It seems nobody is safe, anywhere you go.
I ahve an idea. The jeweler knows you. Call him up, and have him send pics of what he thinks you will like. You will still be able to get something shiny for your anniversary….LOL When there is a will, there is a way!
I hope you all have a good time at Brunch on Sunday.
I know- macaron is quite an undertaking. Heather may not speak to me by Sunday….LOL She is my sou chef. I think she will be ok….see the post to the girls. The pre-cancerous cells will be removed, and no cells are cancerous right now. Thank God!
Have a good night- you will live that show.
Adele -
Just wanted to say hello. We have had so much sickness here. Jerry is finally doing better. I have been so worried, but thank God a lot of that congestion that was in his head and chest is doing better. I would lay there at night listening to him trying to breathe and it just hurt me. I would get him up all during the night even though he would fuss as much as he could muster the strength to so I could walk him to try to get the congestion from just setteling in his lungs. He would always start to get alittle better during the day but would be feeling so bad by the time the sun would start to go down, Sometimes I would just sleep in my recliner. I was so afraid I would catch this stuff. He had to take two full prescriptions of antibiotics before things began to really get better. I have missed you all so much. I have also had to leave most of my “cleaning” because I was just too tired to do anything but take care of him.
I know how hard it was for you and your family to take care of your blessed Mom’s home and things, Colleen. But I bet there were some laughs and sweet memories mixed in with all your hard work. It took us forever to do that job with my parents and with Jerrys. We have quite a bit of things that Jerrys Mom has at her home now, even though she just has the one room. She has been doing really well thank God. She gets so excited when she see Jerry walk in the room and her face lights up. It was a real battle for me to keep him home these few weeks, but I went out to see her at least once a week. I just don’t know what we will do for her Easter. Thinking of ordering cupcakes for everyone and taking her some bunny ears.
Praying for Heather and for Brent. Our children worry us no matter their age.
To be honest with everyone I am almost too tired right now to show my excitement about our family coming. I will difinitely write more hopefully tomorrow. DD I am glad Jewell is better, and Sue I hope thing are doing well for you. Please take care. And Adele, my prayers are with you for your upcoming surgery. Don’t worry about anything but taking care of YOU and getting better. Hugs from the stormy state of Tn. Barb -
Hi DD,
I received my cake today. I also got my notice that it shipped. This was strange I looked it up to see when it shipped and it showed it shipped on the 12th. I guess they forgot to ship me the shipping notice. It doesn’t matter at least I got the cake. Hope you get your soon.
I am so glad that you are going out for Easter dinner and not staying at home. I really hope that you have a fun day and a really good dinner. It is nice that she will be picking you up.
It is nice to have a few of her things. I have a few more things that I have to pick up. She left me a grandfathers clock and a curio cabinet. We will have to go and pick that up soon. We are trying to empty out the house. We will leave a few things in there for when they show the house.
It is just so sad that the Cathedral burnt. It is good that the relics were removed before the fire because of the renovations. I really hope that they do rebuild. It was such an important building there.
I really like all the pictures that you have posted. The picture of Jewel is really cute. She is such a sweet cat.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day and Blessed Easter.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Mandy is the one that lives by us. She is coming to help me clean for Easter. Melissa is the one that lives out of state. Danyielle lives close to me also. It is easy to get every one confused.
That is good news about Heather. Thank God that they found that out and got in touch as soon as they did. Hope that they schedule the surgery soon so they can get it taken care of.
I got my cake today also got my notice that it had shipped. They forgot to say that they shipped it out on the 12th. It was funny that they both came on the same day. I am just glad that we got it.
That was so nice that Gary pushed you in the wheel chair. I am glad that you did not have to walk the way you were feeling. I am sorry that your so sore from the cat scan. I hope that the pain goes away soon. Just take it easy and let Heather and Bobby help you. I am sure that your grands will help you also.
I hope that they do not let that man plead insanity. He needs to be punished to the fullest. I really do hope that he does not have brain damage. How old was the little boy? We have not heard about any of it. I am praying for him and his family.
Well that is all from here. After I get done I have a couple more things that I need to do tonight.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am sorry that Jerry I still sick. Ron had that flu and he still is coughing. He does not feel bad now though so just hang in there it will go away soon.
We will be at this for a long time. My mom had so much stuff and there is still a lot that she did not leave to anyone in the will. This has been really hard. It is funny seeing all the things that she left us and the things that she kept. She still has our report cards from grade school. We could not believe it when we saw them. I do not want mine I will bun them. lol
I am glad that your mil is doing well. That was good that you went to see her while Jerry was sick. She was really glad to see you there. You do such nice things for her.
You will show your excitement when they get there. It will make you feel better and make you happy to have them there. Just enjoy them being there and have a great time.
Have a great night
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am so glad that Jerry is doing better. I’ll bet that when it gets closer to the time that the kids will arrive that you will perk right up.
It’s good to hear that Jerry’s Mom is doing well. Will the kids be arriving next week? I thought it was some time after Easter but don’t remember exactly when.
Gail -
Hi DD,
That will be nice to go out to dinner for Easter. No muss-no fuss. Are the restaurant’s usually pretty crowded?
What a beautiful quilt with both the cross and the butterflies.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I can’t believe that your Mom still had your grade school report cards! Wow! She did save everything.
My Mom was not a saver at all. We always said when the inside of our house needed to be repainted she would just sell the house and buy a new one. lol That famous home organizer Marie Condo would have liked her as she had no clutter. Unlike me who has plenty of it. I try to get id of things and then it just seems like more appears to take it’s place.
I was thinking about the grandfather clock and curio cabinet that you are inheriting and wonder what you will put in the cabinet? Do you have any collections? I use my cabinet that used to hold collectible dolls for books now. That seems to be my major collection now. Maybe you could put your Santas in there and keep them out all year long to enjoy them.
I’m glad your cake came. For some reason I don’t get any notifications from QVC anymore. I used to get them and then I even signed up again and nothing happened-I guess they don’t like me. lol
Gail -
Hi Adele,
That is good news about Heather. I will continue to say prayers for her.
I am waiting to hear back from Brent about him getting a new place to live. I emailed him yesterday but haven’t heard back yet. I usually email rather than call as his work schedule is so erratic I’m afraid to wake him when he is sleeping. Hopefully he’s close to getting a new place and that his back shot brought him some relief.
I think the donations to rebuild Notre Dame are coming from all around the world not just France as the Cathedral is visited by people from all over the world. I think Disney pledged five million dollars itself.
You know great minds think alike. I was thinking exactly the same thing about calling the jewelry store and have Tu-who probably knows my taste the best send me pictures of things that she thinks I might like. Simon is always creating new designs. This would probably have been our last year of going there if Greg retires next year but i was looking forward to going one last time and kind of saying goodbye to some of the places that we liked to visit. It’s not like we can’t go there on our own if we wanted but I don’t know if Greg would be that interested without the golf.
We’ll see what happens.

For those of you that may not know Lisa Mason’s husband Gino passed away. He has been battling stage 4 cancer for some time. So his struggle is over.
I went yesterday & ordered my hearing aid. The cost makes my head spin. I knew they were very expensive but that is a lot of money. My insurance will only pay $500 not much but I will take what I can get. My right ear is to far gone for a hearing aid to help but the left ear will be helped a lot. They are so small they are not noticeable. I will go to get it next Thursday.
I went to get my ham & some groceries today. I was not going to buy a ham but I had enough points for a free one. So I will freeze some of it. I went today because we are to have rain tomorrow & the weekend. Weatherman says a soggy weekend. Today is the only day I have not seen rain. Yesterday was on & off rain. I am really tired of the dark & rain. I hope it won’t be a repeat of last year. I want some fresh vegetables & fruit as there was none last year.
I was a bit disappointed in Bless This Mess as most of the show was shown in the previews. So will watch again to see if it has things not already shown.
Happy Easter everyone.
-
Well I was able to get a little rest last night; so am feeling much better today. Jerry is doing better too, so I got him all set up in his chair working on my vacuum cleaner for me; and I got busy getting rid of some of this “clutter” that we have. Would you believe that we have LOTS of papers and things that came from Jerrys Moms house that we are saving for her; and I spent about 4 hours just putting her things into those large plastic bins that have lids on them and labeled the bins and got them put away in a special spot for just her things in our closet. That was a job that I have needed to have done for literally years, but have just kept putting it off. So now I can really concentrate on the things to help us get ready for everyone. Lisa and Joey came by and worked upstairs in Neals room; and in their room upstairs; and we just kept out of their way. I just can’t climb those stairs anymore, and there is plenty to keep us busy downstairs. Gail, this is what we know so far; but things are changing all the time. Buds wife Stacey, Neals wife Sarah and Colin will catch a flight from Ca. around 4 the morning of the 30th. Neal and Bud will start their drive then and stop I think in Flagstaff Az. the first night then on to Oklahoma City to spend the next night, and then if able will drive on home the next day. So, if things go as planned and there are no slow downs which we all know there will always be, they should be here that Thursday or Friday. Bud and his wife have to fly back to Nevada on Sunday; so they have very limited time, but we are so happy to see them, we will love whatever time we can have. Neal and family plus Joey and Lisa will go on to North Carolina the next Friday. It is about an 8 hour drive from here. They have rented a condo for six months; to get a feel of what to do. Neal really wants the baby to have a yard to play in. I have already had a long talk with Jerry of how we just can’t get our feeling hurt if the kids make plans to do things that may not include us, since I know there is just so much time and so many people to see. I know we have missed them all so much that we will want all their time, but they are young and need time to do some things and won’t want to leave us out. Does that make any sense? Anyway, my heart is so full of love and excitement I can hardly stand it.
Sue, that surely makes me sad to hear of Gino losing his hard fought battle. Lisa Mason was always someone I enjoyed watching on the Q. She just seemed so sweet and genuine. And you could really feel the love she had for her husband. God bless them; I will say a prayer. I have been watching the Q for a long time. I remember when Jane Tracey left and was gone a couple of years and then came back part time and then full time. Do you remember Patty Reilly? I wonder where she went when she left? And I like Jackie Gonzales. In fact; I have to say that all the ones that have left I really enjoyed watching so much more than quite a few of the ones on now. But it is probably just me living in the past lol. I am so sorry that your hearing aides are so expensive. That is exactly why my FIL would not get any he said that was “robbery” and when he set his mind he would not change it. We tried to get him to let us help pay, but since he knew we just would not take any of his money for him living here he would not hear to us doing that. He was such a man of principles, and we understood, but still wanted to help. If not too personal, I was just wondering if you had an injury that caused the hearing loss or it just happened? They said my FIL’s was from loud noise and he did have an injury as well.
I think that is a great idea to have your jeweler send you some pictures of pretties to consider Gail. Speaking of jewelry I saw Judith Ripka on HSN today and she looked so different than the last time I saw her some months ago. I think she has lost a LOT of weight or something. I barely recognized her. Surely hope she is not sick that this is something she wanted. I bought a necklace from her years ago and I have kept it in the nice box it was sent in and it still looks pretty. I have a few Kenneth Lane and also from feel badly but just can’t think of his name now, but the designed from Hollywood who passed from cancer. I get them out and admire them. I have lots of brooches. Just love them. So I am a jewelry person too. Just love Kirks Folly so own them too. I was so happy to see Jennifer come back on. Guess this sort of explains why I need storage boxes. lol
DD, Jewell is so pretty. I am so happy that she is feeling better. We really worry about our little furry babies, don’t we? Love your pictures. So inspirational and so happy. Colleen, you and your family are doing so good. Sometimes I think things are so busy at times like this to make us take our minds off of our sorrow if only because we are so tired. Praying for you all.
Better go for now. Take care everyone. Hope you hear nothing but good news on your loved ones and their health. Take care all. Barbara -
Sue,
Happy Easter to you too. I did read about Lisa Mason’s husband on the Q boards. So sad for Lisa who loved Geno so much-what did she used to call him-the big Hawaiian?
Yes, hearing aids are very expensive. What’s even worse is that many people, like Greg and many others, get them and then discover that they just don’t find them to work good enough to wear or find them uncomfortable. I guess that’s why these guys from a company that Greg did work for are doing so well with the hearing aides that they sell. They are cheaper too. Greg told me about them but I forgot how they work. Lol
Enjoy your ham. It was nice to get a free one.
Gail -
Barbara,
I didn’t realize that Buddy and his wife were coming too. You will have the whole family there! How wonderful. Yes, the kids will probably want to go off and see friends while they are there too. It’s good to be prepared for that. Maybe sometimes Neal and Sarah will go out and have you baby sit Collin. How great would that be. What city in NC will they be in? An eight hour drive is not bad at all. I suppose it is still too long for Jerry’s back though. That is a shame but maybe you still will get to visit more often.
I think Patty Reilly was doing some infomercial-I can’t remember what it was for. Oh yes, I remember people from way back. I think I started watching when QVC was about a year old. I remember when Judy married Jeff and about two months later they were divorced. I remember Steve Bryant and Mike who went on to do the program Dirty Jobs. I remember when Jane used to do Silver Style on Sunday mornings and Kathy Levine did a diamonique show on I think Sunday evenings. I remember Kathy Levine and Joan Rivers together. I think Mary Beth was one of the first ones too. I remember when Kirks Folly used to have shows where the sets were all decorated and they had that guy come on and play different parts. That was so much fun.
The designer that you remember that was from Holly wood was Nolan Miller. I have a few of his pieces and some Kenneth Jay Lane too. It was just sort of interesting to hear those two men talk. They were definitely Old School. I hear Bob Mackie is going to do jewelry again too. I have a snowman pin of his from years ago. That’s one thing I don’t get rid of is old jewelry.
I think Judith Ripka has had some plastic surgery done-plus she lost weight a few years back .A lot of people remark that she isn’t looking so good.
I have no idea who this last group of new hosts are. Most of the time I just record a program and whisk right through it. I rarely watch live anymore so I miss the names of the new people.
I wonder if there gets to be so much cross over between HSN and QVC if someday they might just combine the two channels. Then they will have Zulily to sell off their overstocks. lol
Have a wonderful Easter!
Gail -
Hey Barbara!
OMG….we will all be praying that jerry gets better before the family comes, and that you do nto get it. These flu strains are awful. My friend Joyce was very sick for 4 weeks, and ended up in the Er several times to be rehydrated. Praying hard for poor Jerry!!
Heather made her appointment to get all the bad cells out. I want her to stay here for a few days after, so I can help her, and make sure she doesn’t do anything so she can heal. Thank God it is early, and the cells are all precancerous.
Don’t worry about the house. they are coming to see you, not the house. I bet they will help when they are here!
So far, Heather and I made the French MAcron’s but, they did nto come out so well. An entire sheet of them got ruined, as the cookies would nto come off the parchment paper. Ill attach pics to have a good chuckle- you need a good laugh. I was able to rescue a few cookies….LOL
I have the Pizza Ghiena in the oven and the greek Twisty cookies are next.
Hope your day is better. You are tkaing such good care of him. Thank God you are a nurse!!
Loveyou!
Adele -
Hi Colleen!
I hope the pics above gave you your laugh for the day….LOL The first is the cookie sin the pan, prior to baking- when they “rest” for 2 hours. MAybe they were still tired….LOL
That is great you are getting your Mom’s curio cabinet and grandfather clock. Those are beautiful. I hope you enjoy them for years to come.
You are lucky, like me. We have our Minnions that come to help. We are blessed. I had to get Gary to put the Pizza Ghiena in the oven, as nobody was aorund this morning. I am answering emails, before I do the cookies. Ill take pics of all today, so you can see.
I called for the results of the CAT scan, and they will call me back. I hope that doesn’t mean my bones flunked the test.
That little boy was 5 years old. I feel the same way you do. The perp needs to rot in jail, not a cushy mental health place.
Are you baking anything for Easter? What are you making for Easter dinner?
Hope you have a good weekend, and good Easter. We are getting blasted with 1 to 3 inches of rain, to start soon.
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
I will be saying prayers for Brent too. Have you heard back from him yet? Thank You for your prayers for Heather. She got the date for the procedure- it is day surgery. I think the first week in May.
So, I am waiting to hear on the results of the CAT scan. I hope they call back today, so I know if my bones passed the test.
I hope you find a nice piece for your anniversary this year. That is too bad that you are nto going to visit there for this year. Don’t worry- you and Greg will have a whole new retirement routine. I can see you two going out for an occasional breakfast……or lunch……before the crowds get home for dinner. I think you will enjoy having greg around more. I Know I enjoy having Gary here.
I didn’t hear that Disney is donating to the Cathedral. I think it is very nice so many big corporations are donating to help rebuild.
Hope your day goes well. I wonder if Sue will be getting the rian too….
Adele -
Hi Sue!
I figured you were getting the rian too. It is very humid uphere today. Way too early for this stuff. The rain will start aorund dinnertime up here, and go into Sunday morning. I bet you may not have any for Sunday, and that will be nice for you. Maybe you can sit outside on Sunday, if the rain stops. heather wanted to do an egg hunt, but that will not work in soggy ground. the kids would be a mess. We have nto been able to have an egg hunt in a few years- outside.I know the hearing aids are awful in pricing. I got tillie the ones they showed on TV, and they work pretty good for her- cost was 600.00. My friends nancy and Gerald both wear hearing aids, and they suggested the ones on TV, as they are nto thrilled with theirs and they were in the thousands. Just not fair that insurance doesn’t help more with them. At least now, they are doing a little. previously, they gave nothing. I hope your work well, and that you will like them.
I love leftover ham. It makes great quiche recipes. Do you like quiche? It’s also good in pea soup.
I think in all the new shows they show the best scenes for previews, so you will tune in. They should stop that pretty soon. even though we saw the scenes many times, I ahve to admit that I still laughed my butt off. You know me, I will do anything to get a laugh for the day.
I am awful with the names of the hosts on the Q. The only ones I know for sure are Dave, Angel, Tara, the Lock n lock lady, and Antoinetta. They have a lot of new ones lately too.
I hope you have a good weekend, in spite of the rain we will be sharing. Have a good Easter too. I hope Blue Bloods is nto a repeat tonight…..
Adele -
Hey Barbara!
Glad you got a good night’s sleep. You feel so much better the next day. Also glad Jerry is feeling better, and the kids are handling the upper bedrooms for you. You have raised good men.
I got the CAT scan news- they said the bones look good to do what they are planning to do, and they are doing the scans to make the new joints. So, we are proceeding along……God help me!
It is just a few more days until everyone is home. You must all be so excited. This is a good thing, for all of you. You can squeeze the stuffing out of little Colin, all day long. Maybe even get to tell him a bedtime story. that is so much fun.
Well, I have to go and do the last cookie of the day…..LOL I attached 2 pics of the Pizza Ghiena- when the edges start to carmelize, it is done. they look good this year….LOL
Adele -
Hi Adele,
Your cookies look good. I bet they taste good and that is what counts. You did have some that turned out really good. Your pizza Ghiena looks really good. Everyone is really going to enjoy your Easter meal and all the goodies that you are making. We are having ham, green beans, corn, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and broccoli salad. We are also going to have banana pudding and that cake that I ordered from qvc. It looks really good but it is really plane so I am goin g to decorate it with jelly beans and chocolate rabbits. I was going to use the marshmallow rabbits that are all different colors but could not find any. I thing that the chocolate will work just as well.
I am sure that your bones did not flunk they might have gotten a D but they did not flunk. It will just be nice when they get it all taken care of and you will not have all the pain. Hopefully they will get back to you today and you will not have to worry about it anymore. It makes a lot easier when you know what is wrong and what can be done for it. I am praying that things go well for you.
What are you fixing for Easter dinner? I would like to see your Easter menu. I bet your menu is a lot better then mine is. I am having a lot of simple things that do not take a lot of cooking.
That little boy was so young. We will all have to pray for a miracle and that little guy will not have any problems. That is just so sad and such a mean thing for that man to do.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night and a great week-end.

Hi Gail,
I am getting worried that my brother and sisters are planning on me on taking all the stuff that is inside of it. I am not so sure that I want all of that. That would be a little too much. I will probably put some Santa’s in it. It would be nice to have them out all year round. I have a few collector ones that would look good in there.
I am like you. I clean things out and then buy new things to replace them. So it is a never ending battle. She had our membership cards from when we belonged to the CYC. That was a teen group that all the teens belonged from our church. We had that card and the n we could get into the dances without having to pay. Well it wasn’t exactly free we had to clean the church basement after the dance. We had fun doing that though. When we were younger the Catholic church always had dances on Friday night. Did they do that where you lived?
Are you ready for Easter? I am about as ready as I am going to be. We went to the store yesterday and did all the shopping we had to do. We went out in the rain thinking that no one would be out in that mess but we were wrong. We did get it all done though so do not have to worry about that anymore. I had a hard time getting on the computer last night. I could some things and then it would quit. I think it was because of all the rain we were getting. We have really been having our fair share rain. It is really cold here also. I cannot believe this weather.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. It was a dreary rainy day today. It started out nice, but the rain came in. They keep saying it’ll clear out overnight & we’ll be in for a dry nice Easter weekend. No heatwaves but nice.
Adele, I saw your pics, sorry everything didn’t turn out, but I can relate to that. I read your FB post, & I’ve never heard of purple sugar. Where do you find it? And the pizza you made. I guess it’s an East coast thing. Or maybe I just have my head in the sand! That thug should be put UNDER THE JAIL, & save the taxpayers a lot of $$!!! Or throw him off a bldg.!! I know that’d be tooo easy.
I fixed the chicken tonight along with 2 of the sides I got from the Q. I got those little cheesecakes from David’s cookies, in the chocolate flavor & they are DELICIOUS!! It’s hard not to eat just one a day!!
I’m glad everyone enjoys those posts I send from FB or Instagram. I figure they’d cheer ya up!!
Speaking of the hosts, did you see Dan Wheeler on Gourmet holiday last week? He’s been on before pitching stuffed chicken breasts. He was on with Marybeth. There’s a new host overnight (your time), Terri Conn. I knew she looked familiar but couldn’t think of where. Turns out she used to be on my fave soap As the World Turns for several yrs ago. They have so many new hosts overnight I can’t keep em straight. Just when I get used to some of em, they bring in some more. I miss a lot of them due to their schedules & mine. I’m sound asleep when they’re on. lol
Have a great Easter weekend!!!
dd & Jewell -
Hey Colleen
that is a great idea for the cake. Take a pic and post it for us!!
I love your menu. What is broccoli salad?? I love broccoli!
We are having ham, turkey breast ( came from the Honeybaked Ham company), mashed potato. au gratin potato, broccoli/cauliflower casserole, and corn.
I got the results, and my bones passed the CAT scan- yahoo.
I attached pics of the rest of the baked products, and you can see Amanda in the back of the pic of the centerpiece. Amanda designed it this year. She came before she went to work, to help out. I am lucky I ahve all these grands, and my 2 kids!!
have a great day tomorrow!
Happy Easter!
Adele -
Hey Colleen
I hope you get the furniture thing all straightened out with your sibs. It is hard to split things up, and then not have any disagreements. I think your Santas will look great out all your long in your Mom’s curio cabinet.
Have a great time with Mandy and the girls.
I attached more pics, as I realized Amanda was not in any I posted before. LOLDD
You give us a lot of pretty things to look at, and they always cheer us up. Thank yoU!
I got the purple sugar form the king Arthur flour company- I get a lot of baking things from them on line.
the Pizza Ghiena is an Italian meat pie, made on Easter. It has Italian cold cuts, ricotta, fresh cheese, and lots of eggs. Kind of a very rich quiche, so to speak. It tastes mostly like ricotta, with the meat in it. I cut the cold cuts into tiny bite size pieces. A lot of other people have them cut very thin, and layer them, in layers. I layer my meat too, but, I like it in pieces more.
I hope you have a good day with your friends tomorrow.Barbara, Sue and Gail…
Have a great Easter ladies. Hope your weather is good. It is gross up here. the humidity is so bad, it is tropical. Had to put the air on a few times, so the cookies wouldn’t melt. It was hard to form the figure 8’s for the twisty cookies.
Give all your friends and relatives a big hug from me!
Happy Easter, and Passover to all!!!

Do you girls have to sign in all the time on here? It seems every time I come I must sign in again & my box is checked.
Adele maybe the weather affected your cookies. I read not to make them when it is raining or humid or they don’t come out right.
Gail you said Greg did not like the hearing aid & Adele you said your friends did not like them either. What did they find they did not like? I want some ideas as to what to look for as I have a trial period that I can get my money back if I don’t like it.
Barbara I have always had trouble with my ears lots of infections when I was little. I had surgery on both ears & that really helped for a long time but they have been getting worse all the time. I saw the doctor about them last year & he tested them & said the only option was hearing aids. I have been putting it off due to the expense but finally went & I have nerve damage. The left ear will be helped with a hearing aid but the right is to bad for a hearing aid to work.
We had terrible storms yesterday. My power was off about a half hour & the TV was out for 2 hours then it went on & off. I waiting to hear all the damage as they said a tornado did touch down in the county but I don’t think locally but a lot of wind damage. The sun did come out this afternoon so that was nice but the weatherman said if you are going to church services tomorrow to take the umbrella.
-
Hi Gail,
I got an email from the Q showing a set of 3 graduated Butterfly sphere holders from VPH. Item# H 214059. Only in white, for $ 32.80, on 5 easy pays of $6.56 + sh.
Ladies, the Scott Bros will be back on Tues. for an outdoor living day. They’ll have another TSV of a couple indoor/outdoor rugs, so they’ll be on through out the day. Everything Scott Living will be on easy pay.
Sue, yes I do have to sign in if I haven’t been on for a few days or so. It’s aggravating for sure!!! I’m sorry you’re having such bad weather. They were right the rain did clear out & the sun is out today. I wish I could send it your way.
Colleen, that curio cabinet sounds like something I’d love to have. I could put my Temptations, & my knick knacks in it. I hope everything turns out fine between you & your siblings. Sometimes dividing property between siblings ends up badly. Hopefully not in your case.
Adele, thanks for cluing me in on what purple sugar is. And the pizza, or meat pie.
Take care, & have a great Easter, everyone!!!
dd & Jewell -
Hey Sue!
You are right. the cookies were tough to form as it was just too humid. nothing comes out pretty when it is that humid. I should have put the air on, and left it on. I have an old air conditioner in the wall in the kitchen, and I had that one on, when I was forming the cookies, and it did help a little. I have never seen it this humid in April. So gross.
We got torrential downpours, and may get thunderstorms tonight. We finally gave in, and had Bobby open all the vents in the ceiling for the air, and it is on, full blast.
this is the deal with the hearing aids. It is the background noise that drives them nuts. (Also, the batteries run out real fast, with no warning, and they are always getting new batteries. ) You hear the background noise at the same level as the person in front of you talking. The deal with the ones I got for Tillie is they have 4 functions- one for TV, restaurant, quiet time, and one more I forgot. The name is Hearing Assist. Got them on line, after hearing about them on TV. But, with your nerve damage I am not sure they will work. You can call them, and they will answer all questions. They are very nice- they ahve a 60 day return policy. Also, they are re-chargeable batteries- no battery crazy stuff. nancy said that is worth it’s weight in gold.
I hope that helps. Tillie does like them. Oh…they also have a volume switch. Heather and I sat here with Tillie and the hearing aids until we had the volume and mode she was comfortable with.
Stay cool, Sue- it is like we moved to Florida!
yes, I am having to sign in again too, and it is annoying.
Adele -
Barbara
Forgot to say. Glad you at least got a good night’s sleep in!!
So, what are you cooking when the kids all get home? Baking??
Adele -
DD!
hope the weather cooperates for your area, and that you have a good and safe time getting to your friend’s house. Stay safe! Have a good Easter!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I will try to get my grand daughter to take the picture and send it on here for me. I have no idea how to do it. It took me forever to figure out how to do it on the other site. I am not sure how to do anything on this lap top.
Your sweets all look really good. I may just come to your house. Your dinner sounds really good. I just fix the ham and that is the only meat that we will have. Give Tillie an Easter hug for me. I sure wish that I could hug my mom one more time. I sure do miss her. This is going to be rough this year. I wish it was over with and then I wish it would go on for a few days.
Broccoli salad has cauliflower and broccoli, bacon, onions, and Ranch dressing. That is all there is to it but it is Ron’s favorite salad. We have not had it for awhile because mom could not have green veggies. She was on a blood thinner.
I like the decorations and the picture of Amanda. She is such a pretty girl. You really decorate your house really nice for the holidays. Looks like you are going to have a great day and a lot of fun.
Well that is about all from here. Have a wonderful Easter and enjoy your family.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I hope you have a great Easter out with your friends. I saw Dan Wheeler on the food show. It was good to see him again. It is so sad about Lisa Mason. I wonder what she will do now. I hope she comes back to qvc. I was that we would hear about the other one that quit. I cannot think of her name now. Lisa Robertson.Does that sound right? They always showed the inside of her house at Christmas, I will think of it when I get off of here. There are not many of the new hosts that I know. Sometimes it is hard to figure who is the host and who is the guest.
I really like all of the pictures that you posted. They do really cheer everyone up that is for sure. They are so bright and cheerful
Have a great night and a very Happy Easter.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
I really wish we all lived within driving distance. It would have been so much fun to have your family here, so you could laugh and eat! I so wish there was something I could say tomake today easier on you. How about this…..I bet your Mom is looking down on you and saying…..why is there a broccoli salad, when you know I can’t eat it?? LOL LOLI am attaching a couple of pics of the some of the baskets….LOL
Thank you for the compliments- you are such a sweetie!
Hope you all have a good day!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
Did you have a fun day today? I hope that all the kids came today and enjoy the meal that you prepared. We had a really nice day. I was so glad that my brother came and his wife. It made it a little easier. It would be nice if we lived closer and we could have enjoyed the day together. We did make it thru and I only came close to breaking three times but I controlled it.
We took a picture of the cake after I decorated it. I will try to send it tomorrow. I do not have much luck at sending things like that but I will get one of my grands come over and help.
I like the baskets that you made. They were cute and look like they were full of goodies. We gave the older kids money and Aliza got Minnie mouse dressed like a rabbit. It was about as big as her.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
they did have a great time. We got a visit from the Easter bunny. Aizen was sick, and fell asleep, so he missed all the fun. When he woke up, and we showed him the pics, he did nto believe it was real- he said they were photoshopped.
That is not bad that you almost broke down three times. I would have bawled my eyes out, and ruined the whole day.
Thank you for the compliments!! I love doing the baskets with goodies for everyone. the adults had a good time with theirs too….LOL
I am attaching a few pics, and I hope you can get yourson here too.
Love, Adele -
Hey Gailster, Barbara, Sue, DD, and Colleen….
Checkout the pic above of the paper plates for Easter.
AdeleLuv all you guys!!!!
-
Hi Adele,
That was so cool that Easter Bunny showed up at your house. Poor Aizen slept thru the bunnies visit. You got some really good pictures of the family with him. That was really good that you had Tillie and the bunny. She looked like she was having a great time also.
You probably would not have bawled the whole time. The grands would keep you from crying. They would keep you so busy that it would help you not feel as sad. I think that is what helped me. I was just glad that we had that many people here it helped also.
I liked your plates. They did not look like paper plates though. We eat paper plates when there is going to be a lot of us here. I do not like to do dishes. My kids do not like to do them either.
Well that is about all from here.Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen!
I got the paper plates at BJ’s last summer- a huge bag of them. I still have some left. They are a little stronger, and bigger than the holiday pattern ones, so they work better for dinner. I really like BJ’s products.
Everybody hates to do the clean up, and dishes. Not a fun activity….LOL
I am glad your grands kept you busy and smiling for almost all your day. I can’t imagine life without them. We are more blessed than we realize.
I am so sore today. It has been raining non stop since last week. It was very hard to take my shower this morning. I am getting so tired of this. But, I have to keep in mind, many people are suffering way more than I am, so I need to just suck it up, as I say. Here is a funny one for you….I was in so much pain yesterday morning that I sat on the edge of my bed, and cried. I am becoming a real woos.
Tillie got a real kick out of the Bunny, as did I. I sent in some pics to our local paper, and hope they will print some. they have a ” resident photo” page, and print people’s pics. I think that is real nice, and I enjoy seeing people’s holiday and family photos. We all need a good news page in our local papers.
Hope you are having a good day. It will be raining here until Thursday. Today is Bobby’s 49th birthday. Imagine?
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Sounds like everyone had a nice Easter. I went out to dinner with Hallie & her family. Her 11 yr old son was being a brat. He has several issues but I think he’s just a spoiled brat. I don’t tell her that. I had to laugh about the photoshopped pics. Where did he come up with that?I hope you caught the QF show yesterday. There’s another one this afternoon. I see the Scott brothers are selling indoor/outdoor rugs today, as well as towels, etc. They are characters!
Well, I don’t have much to say today, so I’ll close for now.Take care.
dd -
Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone had a great Easter. The weather here was beautiful. Thank goodness as the kids had bubble guns in their baskets so they could go outdoors and play with them. They were the hit of the neighborhood when they brought them home too-so I give them a thumbs up.
DD-thanks for the heads up. Guess what? I already own those-I think I got them last year and use them on my blue spheres in the summer and use snowflake ones on the spheres in winter. I have silver butterflies and the snowflakes are white and sparkly.
Sue, sometimes the site makes me sign back in too. One time it signed me out right as something was posting and it made the post disappear. Greg said pretty much the same things about the hearing aides. The batteries sometimes don’t work without you fiddling with them. he also didn’t like that on the kind he had they made the adjustments in the office where it is relatively quiet and then when you get out in real life situations those same adjustments don’t work that well.
I will try to post the link for the ones that Adele has but not sure if I can. I wish this site let us copy and paste.
Colleen, what kind of stuff is in the curio cabinet at present? Maybe if it’s stuff that you don’t want it can be donated.
We didn’t have any CYC dances. I went to a public high school and went to the dances there. I didn’t want to go to the Catholic high school as it was several towns away and would have been very hard to participate in after school activities until I was old enough to get a driver’s license.
I think it helped to have the kids and grands around for Easter. When you are busy with them it makes you forget about missing your Mom for a little while. You did a great job.
When you make the broccoli salad is the cauliflower and broccoli cooked or raw? I’m guessing raw but maybe I’m wrong.
Adele, your centerpieces and baskets were so cute. What kind of stuff do you put in the baskets for the adults? I have enough trouble thinking of what to put for kids. Poor Aizen missed the bunny’s visit. He looked the same way I felt at the end of the day. I swear I was asleep ten minutes after everyone left and I didn’t even cook. I was just so tired from cleaning the day before. It’s getting harder and harder to keep up with. I used to clean every week and now it’s getting longer and longer as it just wears me out. Fortunately with just the two of us things don’t get very dirty or even messy.
I’m glad to see you using those paper plates. Join the over 60 paper plate club-in my case over 70. lol
Happy Birthday to Bobby! 49-you were a child bride! We are similar-first a boy and then a girl. Plus the girls have three kids and the the boys have none.
Except Heather has three girls and Jenny has two girls and a boy.
It’s okay to cry because you hurt. It’s frustrating and it just zaps your energy. Before I was diagnosed with RA sometimes I would cry because everything hurt and the constant pain just wears you down. I am thankful every day that i have a medicine regimen that works for me-many others with RA aren’t so lucky. I remember how my Dad suffered.
We just figured out that the Hearing Assist aides are the ones made by Evento. They are the company that Greg worked with for several years when they invented the Wipe New products. Greg’s company packaged their stuff. Then Evento sold Wipe New to Rustoleum and went into making those hearing aides. I guess they are doing well with them. They are some bright guys who have the company.
Greg’s first golf day on a league was yesterday. It was nice when he left and then it rained and then it cleared up so it was late when he got home as he went and ate in the clubhouse afterwards. I was glad that I wasn’t cooking as I was not feeling that great yesterday. I had to babysit in the morning and was still feeling kind of run down so I came home at two and ate some lunch and climbed into bed and napped for three hours. I finally feel more wide awake today. i think I need a maid and a cook. lol

It has been confirmed a tornado touched down near me Friday night. There were 5 in Pa. The one near me & 1 each of the 2 neighboring counties & 2 elsewhere. Very crazy weather.
I have made ham salad & scalloped potatoes & ham & a ham & cheese omelet with leftover ham & froze some. Next project cook the bone & make split pea soup.
-
Hi Adele,
I would be sitting on the edge of my bed crying if I was hurting as bad as you are. It is hard to be in that much pain and not cry. There might people in more pain then you are but you do not feel that pain just your own. It is not wrong to cry are to feel bad if it is you. So do not feel bad about it.
They never make the holiday plates strong enough to hold the food that you put on them. Another thing that they never make strong enough is plastic forks. They break every time that you try to eat with them. It is really a shame that they do that. I like to have the plastic silver wear when we go on picnics.
I hope that they post the pictures in the newspaper. Especially the one of Tillie. That was cute and the one of JJ. Poor Aizen thinks everyone was kidding him about the bunny. It is a shame that he fell asleep.
We had a good day today. Tomorrow will not be fun though we have to go looking for a different care. My jeep has just about had it. The starter went out of it the other day and that was the last straw. Ron will not get a new car because he says that they become a used car as soon as you drive them off the lot. I guess he is right because that is how the insurance company feels about it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
It sounds like you had a good Easter also. I am so glad that you went out to eat with your friends. It is a shame that the little boy was acting out and made the day a little less pleasant. It is hard to tell someone that their child is spoiled. They would not believe it anyway they would just get mad at you.
I saw the QF show yesterday but did not see the one today. I will have to look on the internet and see what they had. They do not have a lot of new things which is a shame.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail’
It is just things that she brought back from trips that her and my dad went on. I think that there is a budda in there and things like that. She also has some elephants in there also. I am not sure what else is in there. I will have to look and see.
Yes the broccoli and cauliflower are raw. I buy the bottle Ranch dressing instead of the package that has to be mixed. I also use the bacon bits instead of frying the bacon. I have been making everything as simple as I can,
It was good to have a lot of people around. It was especially good to have my brother and my sil here. It was just a good day and I was surprised that it worked out like it did. With Aliza here you do not sit for a minute.
Everyone that belonged to the parish could belong to the cyc. You could bring anyone to the dances that wanted to come but they had to be with a member of the cyc. They had these dances every Friday night. They did that for a long time. I think the kids started doing damage to the building and they had to stop having them. I think that kids start bringing drugs into the dance and that was another reason they stopped. We were out of high school when that all started.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night night.

Hey DD
You had a lot to say! We always want to hear what you are doing, who you see, and the places you go to enjoy yourself.
So, what did you have for dinner at the restaurant? Did you like it?
Aizen got the idea from his Mom, Steph, as she photoshops all pics- adds animals, etc. We were hysterical. His little self is better- he has the ear drops they give you for ear infections. I am so glad he is better, as I hate to see him sick.
I got Tillie those flowered pants, and a shirt to match for her birthday. then, I also got her 3 short sleeve shirts for Mothers Day. So, I am all set with presents for her for the month of May. One stop shopping….LOL
I didn’t see any shows today- I will check the site to see what I missed.
Hope your day was bright- we actually had sun today, and sun for tomorrow is predicted. Rain again for Friday.

Hey Gailster
I was young. I got married at age 19, and had Bobby the next year. Nobody today marries at 19…..LOL
I have the phone number for the hearing aides, as I think it is a different company- Hearing Assist….800-640-9785 for customer service, or 800-756-0818 for sales. hope that helps.
You know Gailster, you may have to give in and get a housekeeper. you could have the house cleaned every 2 weeks, because it is only the two of you. How nice would it be, to just sit there, and watch the house sparkle and shine? At your age and physical needs, you deserve a break. Go for it! I had to give in when the shoulder went nuts on me, as there is no way I can dust or vacuum.
How did Greg do on his first golf outing?
I put some cool things in their baskets- socks, those set of 3 plastic things to put under stuff you microwave, and then they become a trivet,(from ITKWD) a set of hand made scented soaps, a bottle of Ahava mud body lotion, (Jhonny was fighting Stph over his using it too….LOL), a jar of salt scrub also from Ahava, Peeps, and a little bag of Cadbury eggs and Robins eggs,…that is all I can remember right now. They love them. I do whatever I come across for cool stuff that year, but, socks are always in there.
The sun was shining today- how cool is that????
Glad you posted today, as I was getting worried about you. I hope you are not sick, and feel more your self today.
Adele -
Hey Sue!
Thank God the tornado did nto come near your house. That is very scary. Did you hear the noise form the tornados? I hope you didn’t, as that would have scared the be-Jesus out of you.
The weather is on now, ad they are saying Texas is getting blasted with dangerous weather, and it is to come up here for Friday. He is saying it will not be as bad for us, so I hope the same is true for you.
Wow- you have been cooking a lot. I love pea soup.
I have never put ham in with the scalloped potato recipe. Do you chop it into small bite sized pieces, or layer the meat in it? Sonds yummy!
We are all such good cooks. the Q should do a Quacker Factory cook book….LOL
Did you see Bless this Mess last night? I Love the back and forth between the sheriff and the guy living in their barn- hysterical!
Hope you have a good night.
Adele -
Hi Colleen
I hope you found the car/Jeep of your dreams……for a good price. I have a strategy with them. I keep saying no, and they keep calling me back, with a better offer until I reach my number. Everyone thinks it is very funny I always get the price I want.
It really did sucj the day I was crying. It is better today. All the rian we have had has made the pain real bad on some days. It is good today, and I am grateful.
If the pics get posted, I will take a pic of them in the paper, and post them on here. the paper comes out tomorrow, so we will see. But, that may be too soon for them to be posted.
I hope you had great success, and are happy with your car choice. Go Colleen and Ron!!
Adele -
Colleen and Gail
We had Friday night dances too in the church hall- they were called CYO dances up here.
Adele -
Hope this thing will at least let me stay on long enough to say we are ok; Jerry better; me exhausted with more to do yet but happy is not even the right word to describe how excited I am to see everyone This thing keeps kicking me off, and yes I am having to sign in everytime too. Neals last working day was Monday, and he called us. So sorry girls that I can’t talk longer but this computer is acting as crazy as I feel. Hugs and prayers to all, Barbara

Hi Adele,
We ended up not going looking. It was raining today and I had a really bad head ache. So we will go tomorrow and see what they have. I do not think that I am going to get another jeep. We had to fix the air in the one we have now a lot. We just had to put a new starter on it and it does not get good gas mileage. That is what I plan to do. I am not going to make it hard for them if they do not sell at my price.
Rain always make the pain really bad. I guess it is because of the damp air and weather. My back gives more problems when it is damp. My arthritis is always worse in damp weather.
I hope that they post your pictures in the paper. I am like you I like to see happy pictures in the paper. There is enough bad news in the world.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Sue,
Glad that you were safe from the tornadoes.
The pea soup sounds delish! I rarely get it as Greg doesn’t care for it. My Mom would always make it after we had a ham with a bone in it.
We are having some nice days and then this weekend it will cool down and get rainy. I even heard talk of a snowflake on the local news.
Gail -
Hi Barbara,
It’s good to hear from you. I can’t wait to hear about the kids’ visit. I know how exciting it is waiting for them to arrive. I know there’s a little time left yet but it’s getting closer.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I think I will have to try making that broccoli salad sometime-how small do you cut the pieces? It does sound like it could be whipped up pretty quickly which is always a good thing.
Before we go car shopping there is a lot of preparation at home. First Greg looks at a thousand cars on the internet. Then after several months he whittles it down to what he wants. Then he starts looking on line for dealerships that have the car that he wants. When he figures that out we try to figure which places are closest to each other so we’re not traveling back and forth across towns. We have bought a few new cars over the years but not too many. We like to get as low a mileage as possible on the used cars though. Anyone who buys one of my old cars used gets a bargain as I put so few miles on my cars.
I did hear a few days ago that the little boy who was thrown over the railing is making progress in his recovery. I read somewhere that his injuries were more like a bicycle fall than a fall from three stories. That’s hard to believe though. I like to think that maybe an invisible angel swooped in and broke his fall for him. Anyway, I was happy to hear that bit of information.
On the other hand there was a missing five year old boy two towns over who wasn’t so lucky. He was missing for a week and they found his body yesterday and his parents have been charged with his murder. I hadn’t heard about it but Jenny told me about it last week because the mother was a couple of years behind her in high school. I guess when this little boy was born he had opiates in his system and he was removed from the parents for a couple of years and then returned. I think DCFS had been out there a couple of times in 2018 because of complaints of neglect but didn’t find credible evidence to support the reports. I feel sorry for the case worker who worked that case as he/she must feel awful. But no matter what we just never know what goes on behind closed doors. Greg said he heard today that the father threw the boy in a cold shower and then beat him. How people can do those things to a poor defenseless child is beyond me but I hope those parents never see the outside of a prison again. Plus-the mother is pregnant-that poor unborn baby being born into such a mess. I hope somewhere there is a good loving family to raise him or her so some good can come out of all this bad.
Now I have made myself sad. I will pray for all the little children.
gail -
Hi Adele,
I thought it was funny too when Aizen thought the picture was photo shopped. It sometimes amazes me what the kids know these days.
Was all the stuff that you got for Tillie from Quacker? I love to see her in her Quacker finery.
Not too many get married at 19 anymore but there are some.
Jenny was disappointed that there was no Cadbury eggs in the kids baskets this year. I will have to remember next year to get her some.
The Hearing Assist that Tillie has is the same one that I referring to made by Evento. Did you get it from the infomercial or from WalMart? I am asking because Greg says the guys would love a good review if you are pleased with the purchase.
I see Life in Pieces is back on. That show cracks me up-I love that family.
Gail -
Gonna try again today to see if this thing will let me talk to you all. Its funny you mention the Cadbury eggs, Gail, since Joey asked me if I saw any ont eh “marked down” isle to please pick him up some lol Our children still love the candy they loved as little ones in their Easter basket. You all will think I spoiled the boys, but I still made them a big basket even when they were in high school; and Jerry called me at work one Easter morning to ask me why didn’t the bunny leave any malted milk balls this year? So he looked forward to the treats too. ha ha I said the bunny did the best he could and if I had known you Adele at the time I would have said he left them at your house! Little Aizen was so sweet thinking the picture was tampered with. These little ones are just SO smart that it amazes me. I know that Jerry and I will be blown away at how much our little fellow knows and can do. I have gone to Walmart to get some toys and a football and l little fishing pole for a child; since Neal said he difinitely wants to take him fishing out at the pond. We have one of those ATV;s so Joey has been getting it all ready for them to ride. Of course; I am nervous; but I know our boys grew up riding them and how careful Neal will be with the baby. I also got him a kite and some trucks and things for indoors. I cannot wait to put my arms around everyone; and if I can just keep Jerry from talking politics; religion; you know, we will be fine. Its fine with the boys; just the wives get offended or whatever and all I want is love and more love. Jerry listens to TV too much I think. I love comedys, cooking shows, course the Q and watch Evine for my pretty jewelry/ Gail, if you get a chance, tune in to Gems of Distinction or Galerie de Bijoux on their channel. I love their pieces.
Sue, you can’t imagine how much respect and admiration I have for ladies like you and DD who are so smart and know the answers must come from you and you face things that honestly I don’t know how well I would be able to do that . I had to make so many important decisions during my working years; but for example when I had cancer or the stroke; I look back and think how much I depended on others; especially Jerry and the boys. I literally could not shower by myself; and yet I know you all somehow know what you have to do and do it. I so hope I haven’t offended you all; I just know that sometimes you seem not to feel you have things to offer but I truly mean this; you have so much to teach us; and I appreciate it so much.
I remember that PawPaw needed hearing aides. He finally gave in after several years of asking and he also used those from the TV infomurcial. If I am remembering right; his cost us around 600 but he said he would only agree to having some if they didn’t cost over 200 so we paid the rest and sort of said they only were 200. His volume was turned at the highest level and he still couldn’t hear it. He did fine afterward.
TIllie looked pretty. And the decorations were so beautiful Adele. Do you have a date set up for your surgery yet? Prayers coming your way for you and Heather and her procedure. Your cookies look like many of mine. THe boys always said the “ugly” ones taste just as good. I have cooked so many pies that had to be scooped out but they tasted so good.
Better go for now. Hope everyone is doing well. Colleen, praying for you everyday. I hope you find a nice comfortable car that is great for you and for Ron. Its fun to get something new and you certainly deserve it. Take care everybody and enjoy your evening. Hugs Barbara -
Hi Gail,
i do not cut them the same size every time. I just put them on the cutting board and cut. I just cut the head in half then cut the tops. I hope that makes sense.
Ron has been looking on the internet for cars but is stuck on one type. He was looking at Volkswagon Rabbit. They are all run on diesel and around here it usually runs higher. So he is not looking for a car that I want. So we will argue over this for awhile. This is supposed to be my car. so this time I am getting the one that I want. I am looking for a car with low mileage good gas mileage. That is the two things that I am looking for.
I agree there must have been Angel that caught and broke his fall.I really do believe in Angels and that they are all around us. That is such good news that he was not hurt any worse then that. That is terrible about the little boy whose parents killed him. That is so sad but he will not be tortured any more and will be held gently. I do not understand why anyone would do that to a child. We have to pray for the children that is the only protection they have. The ones with bad parents. At least the baby will not suffer like that poor little boy did. I hope that gets good parents.
We are getting a lot of rain here. I wish that we would have a few days with just sunshine so all this water will dry up. We had water over our section of the road and that is unusual for here. I hope you do not get snow. This is getting too late in the year for snow.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
You must really be getting excited about the kids getting there. That will be fun for Neal and Colin to go fishing. He will probably love fishing with his dad. It will be nice to have them all there and just have a good day. I will be praying that everything is peaceful and all of you have a good time.
After my kids got so old I would put some Easter grass in the middle of the table and put the candy all around it. Whe we got older and did not believe in the bunny mom us to buy us this big heavenly hash egg and put candy all around it. There would be enough candy for all of us so that is how I did it. We cannot get the heavenly hash eggs anymore though. It is a shame because they were really good.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Barbara
Do not worry about not talking much. At least we knwo you are both ok, and excited for the visit. There will be plenty of tiem later, to tell us all about the fun you had- go Barbara!!
Adele -
Hey Colleen
I hope you were able to get out to look for a new car. It is never an easy process, and I hope you get the best price, and one that works well. Jeeps are nto good on mileage, unless you get a 6 cylinder one. Our is a 6. It also shuts itself off at lights to get better mileage…you put your foot on the gas, and it starts right up again. Weird, huh? We do nto drive much anymore, so the gas is nto an issue. All we seem to do is go to doctor visits….LOLIt is raining again, and tonight we will have thunderstorms. It has been raining non stop up here. Sue even had a tornado near her. I hope nothing like that happens in her area tonight.
Did you see that new show this week? Bless this Mess? I like it. But, I Iike all comedies, as I love to laugh!
Hope the sun is shining in your area!
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
We got the hearing aid on line, as we saw an add on TV. I called too, to get some clarification on what they did. the only difficulty is Tillie’s hands. Her hands shake, so she has a hard time getting them in. Nobody else would have that difficulty. I will go on the website and do a review- hope I can i find it….LOL
So, Hearing Assist is the same company? Why do they have 2 names? I had no idea Walmart sold them, and hope they were not cheaper….LOL Tillie paid 599.00, plus we got the cleaning thing too. I think that was an additional 39??
We were all hysterical when Aizen said that. These young mothers do so much with their pics, and the little ones pick everything up.
It is very gloomy up here, and the wind just picked up. Supposed to get thunderstorms during the night. I hope Sue doesn’t get blasted again. I have the heat on again.
I also love Life in Pieces. Such a good show. You know me, I am all about the comedies!
Had the pre-ops yesterday. Concern for the blood pressure. I have not heard anything else as of yet.
I have not heard anything about the little boy thrown off the balcony. I saw what you wrote to Colleen. I hope what you heard is correct too, as I am sick to my stomach about that one. What is wrong with people…..that is a phrase I say at every news briefing. I heard about the little boy who got murdered. I knew they killed him, from how they were on the news, and how their voices sounded. Way too calm. I just knew it.
Hope your day is brighter than mine!
Adele -
Gail…forgot to say, all Tillie’s clothes are Quacker, of course….LOL
Barbara
I laughed out loud at the comment about saying the eggs were left at my house. I know if we did live close by, your family would be like family to me, and when they needed some chocolate, would just pop over and say,….”Mom forgot to get chocolate, what do you have?” LOL LOL
Surgery is 2 weeks from today, if I passed all the tests. They want a copy of my last EKG to compare to this one. That made me a little nervous, as i wondered if they saw anything. My blood pressure was up, which concerned them, and when they took it a second time, it was up even higher. i think it was all the pain.
You got some great things for little Colin. he is going to have such a great time. I bet everyone is excited, and counting the days. Can’t wait to hear the great stories!
What are you going to bake for him? What is Colin’s favorite?
Have a great weekend.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
We did go and look for a car today. I did get one at the price that I wanted. I got Ford Focus it is a 2017. It only had 19 thousand miles on it so that was really good. We checked the car fax on it and it had never been wreck. So it was a really good deal. This will be the first ford that I have ever owned. I hope that it turns out to be a good car.
Our dish washer stopped working also. So we had to get a new one. They were having a sale on them so got a really good deal on that. They are going to deliver it for nothing. So that was a good deal. They usually want to charge extra because we are in the country. We had a good day today and got a lot done. We stopped at a Mexican restaurant for lunch. I was glad of that I sure did not feel like cooking when we got home. We were out all day so we needed to eat.
One thing that really surprised me was they gave us a real good discount because Ron had been the Army. He did not have to show any proof of it at all. Ron really needs to start one of those cards that show he was in the service. We would get a lot more discounts.
We did not watch a lot of regular tv this week. We mostly watched the old shows that come on cable. Will have to watch that show. We do not watch a lot of regular tv that much.
It is good guardian Angels around us from the time we are born. I believe that very strongly. They are there to help all those little ones thru their suffering. I have to believe that it is just to sad not you.
I hope they get your blood pressure under control and they can do the surgery. We will be praying for you and the success of your surgery.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
My problem is I eat whatever leftover candy there is from the kids baskets so sometimes I try to get things that I don’t like. lol I like those robin eggs malted milk balls too. I just have a sweet tooth in general.
I can just picture Colin and Neal going down to the fishing hole. What a cute picture it makes in my head. Kind of like Andy and Opie.
I checked out those lines of jewelry that you mentioned on Evine. Wow! They have some pretty things. I have been collecting jewelry for so long that i am now attracted to the more exotic stones and naturally those are the most expensive. But anything that is pretty and sparkly just automatically attracts my eye. I think some of us are born with that sparkle gene and some aren’t. Unfortunately my daughter isn’t. I don’t think Kendall has it either but I think little Piper may. The poor little thing has that 5th disease so her little cheeks are all pink from it. Jenny is on a zpak for an ear infection and Greg has this big lump on the end of his elbow which is a textbook case of bursitis. We are a mess. They were saying on the news that this year there were two strains of flu virus-one ending in about February and the new one starting up right after that and still going on now.
I hope Jerry behaves and just talks about neutral subjects and just enjoys everyone while they are there. Have tons of fun with the family when they arrive.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Wow! A new car and a new dishwasher all in one day. That was a big day.
I’m trying to think if we ever had a Ford. Well, I had a Mercury Cougar and that’s made by Ford. I had that car for ten years with no trouble so I guess it was a good car. That was one of the few cars that we bought brand new. It was such a cute sporty little car-I loved it! Plus it was a pretty shade of blue. What color is your new car? I wish they made cars in prettier colors-it seems they are mostly black, white or gray. I love my present car except for the color which is black-I find that so boring. I wish they made cars in jewel tones-and then maybe they could add some sparkles to them too. lol Jewel tones and pretty pastels would be nice.
We always have to remember to use our senior discount too. I forget that I am that old. lol I know we got a discount on our phones because we are AARP members. Greg was in the national Guard so sometimes he will get a military discount too.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Well it is snowing here today. We are supposed to get maybe six inches. Can you believe that on the 27th of April!!! Plus Jenny had to go into work today as she was off sick during the week and now I will be on tenterhooks until she gets home safely. She was supposed to go to a surprise party tonight but I hope she cancels if it’s still snowing. Especially at night when the temps get lower and everything freezes.
I heard an update on the boy from the Mall of America this morning and they said he was awake and alert. I would imagine he has lots of broken bones but hopefully there will be no brain damage. They are being pretty quiet as I don’t think I ever heard where he was even from. I hope angels continue to watch over him. He is like a little miracle. It does make you sick as it’s hard to imagine the evil of someone who does something like that. The same with the parents who murdered that poor little boy out by us. I hope they never see natural daylight again.
So Evento is the name of the company and Hearing Assist is a product that they make. The price is the same at WalMart as on the infomercial. They told Greg if he bought some there they would give him half his money back (because they know him personally and have done business with him) so I’m thinking maybe for that price he should pull the trigger on them. He already has a 6000 dollar set that just sit in the medicine cabinet so it might be worth a try for him at that price. Now if I can just convince him to get progressive lenses and actually wear then until he is used to them next time he goes to the eye doctor we would be making some progress. Plus then he wouldn’t constantly be changing from one pair of glasses to another and losing them in the process. If i had a nickel for every time he misplaced a pair of glasses i would be rich. He is like an absent minded professor.
Right now he has this huge lump at the end of his one elbow. It looks exactly like the online pictures of bursitis so we figure that’s what it is. There’s not much that they do for it as it usually goes away on it’s own.
You will have to have Heather or one of the grands come on here and post after your surgery so we know you are home and okay. I don’t imagine you’ll be posting much for awhile-except one handed. Which shoulder is it anyway. is it on your dominant side? How long do you expect to be in the hospital?
I hope you have lots of movies lined up to watch while you are recuperating. if it was me i would have a huge stack of books too. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen!
So, did anyone notice everyone on Blue Bloods last night were yelling at each other? Every one of them was in an argument with another one. It was too funny. It was like we had a “Dysfunctional Blue Bloods” night. At one point, when Frank almost completed a swear at his daughter….he said “it would be a cluster f”, and did not finish the last word. Gary and I found it amusing, as they may have tired to show the family was not perfect, as nobody’s is.
I am so happy you have a new car you love, got a great deal, and it has low mileage. You won, all the way around. Go Colleen and Ron. A lot of places today do discounts for veterans. Ron should do the card that shows he is a veteran, as you would save a lot of places.
Also glad you had a nice dinner, just the two of you, and no cooking or cleaning involved. A win, win, day all the way around.
So, up here, it poured most of the night and we had fog this morning. For a very brief time, the sun came out. Notice that is in the past tense….clouds are building again. I am feeling like an amphibian creature.
I am beyond thrilled that the little boy from the Mall has no brain damage. I heard that this morning too. I honestly feel all the people who prayed for him made a difference. I wish people’s prayers could have saved the little boy who was murdered this week too. Maybe the poor little thing is better off with God, than with those awful parents. I feel bad for the social worker who had to return him home. I bet as time goes on, it will come out that it was a legal decision to do so, and that the worker did nto feel good about the decision.
Heather is now sick. She seems to have what Aizen ahd last week. Yuck.
I hope you get to watch some of the shows from this week. Did you record any of them?
hope you are having a good, and sunny day.
Adele -
Gailster…..you guys are in a health mess over there. I hope everyone is etter in a couole fo days. I feel bad for Greg,a s bursitis is awful.
Prayers sent!
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
I did hear about the little boy today. he has no brain damage. I swear all the prayers form across the land helped, and that he had an army of Angels by his side. Even though the Devil tried to take him, the Angels won. That other little boy near you was nto as lucky. we are living in an awful world right now. So many terrible things are happening, and it is not fair for children to be the targets. they are so defenseless.
I hope everyone at your place is better today. Also hope that the bursitis doesn’t last long. When I got it, it lasted much of the winter. It was miserable.
I will be in the hospital for one day. Home on day 2. Imagine that? Drive through surgeries. They are a ‘comin….LOL
I am hoping I can do needlepoint, or read. I was wondering about being able to hold a book with one hand, or needlepoint with one??? Who knows. I think TV will be my friend. I am going to send one of my grands all the email addresses I have as a group, so she can just respond to let you all know how I am doing. I hope to be able to get on here in a couple of day, to at least say how I am doing at home. I tried to teach Gary how to get my hair in a ponytail today….God help me.
It is my left arm, and I am right handed. I could get out of bed this am, with the right hand in a sling (pretended), but, I could not get into bed, even with the head all the way up. I am hoping PT or OT can help me ideas on that.
I am like you- I would have been praying Jenny changed her plans. Did she?? I hope she did.
i can’t believe you are still getting snow. Dam, girl. We still have the heaton up here. It thundered all night up here. It is about to rain again…..no Spring for us. I will go straight from the heat, to the air, with no break. Oh well. At least we have both!
Hope you have a good night- read the post toColleen, in case I forgot something…LOL
Adele -
Hi Gail,
I have never spent that much money in one day. It was a little scary. My car is a mettalic grey. It was the best color that we saw. They had different years in black but did not want a black car. I do not like a white car either. The dirt shows up on them a lot easier. Where we live it is not a good place for a light color car.
I cannot believe that you got that much snow there. We are really cold here tonight it is in the 30’s. We do not have any clouds in the sky. If we did we would have snow here also. It is so late in the year for snow.
That is such good news about that little boy. I imagine that his parents are really thankful and saying a lot of prayers of thanks. I just hope that he did have any permit damage from the bones that were broken. I hope that they are not going to make it esier on that guy that threw him over. He should never get out of jail again.
Poor Greg with the lump on the elbow. It sounds like the whole family is having their health problems right now. It is a pain when every one gets sick at once. I will pray for the whole family.
Well that is all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I missed Blue Bloods last night. I wish that I would have seen it. I always miss the good shows. I do not remember what we were doing last night that we missed it. Ron might of watched a ball game.
We have had a lot of rain here also. I cannot believe that Gail got snow this late in the year. I hope this does not mean that we are going to have a cold summer.
That is really good news about that little boy. He did not deserve that. I hope that they do not make it easy on that guy because the child did not have any brain damage. He should be charged for attempted murder and have to pay for the rest of his life. That child did not do anything to him.
Nothing much else happened today. It has been so quite around here. So guess that is all from here have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone feeling better. I think I told you how I popped my left elbow out of the socket. I was walking along when I tripped as I was stepping up on the curb. I went down like a big oak tree. It popped right out of the socket, but I didn’t realize it at first, then I noticed my arm was dangling, so I held against my body till I got home. They called for an ambulance as I was starting to pass out. When I got to the ER I told em to knock me out while they popped it back in. They had to do surgery on the elbow to staple all the tendons & tissue back to the bone. I was in a sling for several days. I was supposed to get help from Aging & Disabilities, but it took em a few days to get someone here. In the meantime I was doing everything for myself. I was cooking, the only thing I really couldn’t do was change the sheets on the bed.
My anniversary of my open heart surgery is coming up May 12th, (1982). I can’t believe it’s been that long ago already. If not for that I wouldn’t be here.
If my mother had her way I would’ve been in bed for months afterward. But I took it slow till my ribcage got back to normal. That hurt the most.
I’m sure you’ll be fine Adele.Gail, I can’t believe you guys got snow this late in April. I heard a forecast, & I thought it was a repeat from earlier on. Then I saw the news & my jaw dropped! We had a couple nice days, but a chilly wind kept it chilly. I thought I wasn’t gonna use the heat anymore, but I had to turn it on.
I took my Easter décor down this week. It looks kinda bare again. Even tho I still have my knick knacks out.
Our Trail Blazers knocked out the Oklahoma City thunder in round one of the NBA playoffs. Now it’s on to Denver for the first 2 games of the second round. I see Boston Celtics buried the Bucks today.
Oh Adele, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who caught on to the father of the murdered boy. When I heard the 911 call I knew something was wrong. They didn’t seem panicked like we would be if our kid was missing. The police aren’t stupid. Is a shame more wasn’t done more for the boy.
And that monster should be thrown off the 12th floor of this bldg., or any high rise bldg. Or bury him UNDER THE JAIL!!!Oh what is heavenly hash eggs? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it.
And Congratulations Colleen for getting your new car & dishwasher!! Hopefully things will mellow out now & you won’t need to spend anymore $$ to replace things.
Well, I guess that’s all for now
Have a great week. Take care.

Hi DD,
I like that sign about being an adult isn’t going to work for me. That is really funny. I love the picture of the ocean. It looks like it could just go on and on. It makes a person realize how big this world is.
A heavenly hash egg the out side is all chocolate but the inside is marshmallow and nuts. It is just really good and it is shaped like an egg. It was big enough that all of us kids got `enough to fill everyone up.
That is awful about your elbow. I hope that it is a lot better now and not giving you much pain. That is terrible that you could not get help right away. They should have sent help the next day. I am glad that it is all over with now though.
Thank-you I hope we do not have to replace anything else for awhile either. We will need time to save some money again. When things start to go out it does happen all at once.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

DD,
That elbow injury that you had sounds awful. I’m glad it’s in the past and all healed. Also the heart surgery. Thank goodness that was available to you.
Was that game against Oklahoma the one where he made the three point shot right at the end?
All the seasons are so long now. It seems crazy to have basketball, baseball and hockey all going on at the same time. And baseball will go into October. I feel sorry for the players with the long seasons of today. It’s all about the money.

Hi Colleen,
Metallic gray is a good color. We had a couple of cars that color.
We ended up with about four inches of snow. At one time it stopped and then I took a nap and woke up and it was snowing harder with big flakes. Then it all melted yesterday and it will be rainy for the next few days. At least it was warm and sunny on Easter. I texted Brent a couple of pictures of the snow and he said it was 86 by him.
It’s funny that you said that about the picture of the ocean. That’s the same feeling I always get whenever I have been at the ocean. You look at it and it is so vast and just goes on and on forever. It makes you think about how brave those early ocean explorers were-going out into that uncharted territory not really knowing where they would end up.
Thank you for the prayers for our family.

Hi Adele,
That is a good idea to send out a group email after your surgery.
Maybe you can use a step stool to get onto the bed or maybe you will have to sleep in a recliner for a bit. That seems to be a common thing that many of us have had to do at times as we deal with the physical problems of aging.
Jenny did stay home Saturday night. She felt bad as it was a surprise birthday party for a co-worker-but I said she had to think of herself and she needed the rest as she had been sick too. The kids were at Adam’s so it was a perfect time to rest and recuperate.
We have never had the heat off yet. It is still going. We probably won’t get much of a break between when the heat goes off and the AC comes on.
I didn’t realize that your hair was long enough for a pony tail. When we first got married I had really long hair and Greg would braid it at night for me so it wouldn’t get all tangled when I was sleeping-so I bet Gary can manage a ponytail. Maybe he’ll like it so much that he will grow himself a man bun. lol
You know if you can’t hold a book -if you have a tablet you can download the Nook or Kindle app and read on your tablet. They have tons of books for 99 cents or 1.99 and 2.99. I read regular books but also will use my kindle or nook or even my tablet. I’ve even used my phone in a pinch if I am caught in a long wait somewhere without a book. I think it might be hard to do needlepoint one handed.
I’m sure you’ll figure out what you can and can’t do. Now is the shoulder immobilized for six weeks and then will you have physical therapy after that. It’s very different from knees and hips isn’t it. With those they get you moving as soon as possible. We will all be saying lots of prayers for a speedy recovery and we will miss your cheerful voice on here. You will have to get on and type with one finger which is mostly how i do it anyway except it’s one finger on each hand. lol I know I should put that old high school typewriting class to use on the keyboard but I actually go faster with two fingers. lol
I’ll bet if kids today saw a typewriter they probably wouldn’t know what it was. lol

Hey Colleen
I have some news from here. Got a call this morning saying the surgery is cancelled. I did not pass the pre-op testing. I have to lose 50 lbs to get my BMI where the hospital will consider doing surgery on me. I was so flabbergasted by the call, I forgot to get all the rest of the numbers from the testing. I have a call in to them to get them.
Bobby’s party went well yesterday. Everyone had a good time, and the Q cake was good. No complaints were received….LOL
I am ok with it, as I was nto feeling so good about this surgery. It is what it is.
Hope your day is going better than mine…..LOL

Hi DD
I am so sorry you hurt your elbow. I am hoping it is feeling better. That must have been awful for you. I hope the people coming into your home to help are very nice. You deserve the nicest people they have. Please be careful so your arm heals well, and it is all back together.
We get ourselves into so much trouble, us old ladies. We have to be extra careful with all we do.
Are you in a cast, or just the sling? Sending prayers your way!!

I hope the snow has ended over there. Enough is enough! It was int he 30’s here last night. I hope the new tiny growth showing on the trees did not get damaged.
well, her is an amusing news flash……no surgery happening here. So, I will sing my new song…..Im too chubby for my surgery, too chubby for my surgery, too chubby……LOL Kind of like, I’m too sexy for my shirt. Only this is too sexy for all clothing….LOL
I have to keep my sense of humor.
To answer the questions on shoulders…yes, they are in a whole other category. recovery is way more involved, and nto fun. But, i do not have to do it….LOL

Hi Adele,
I cannot believe that they will not do the surgery. What are you going to do? If you do not have the surgery will you be able to live with the pain? I have never heard of such a thing. I hope that you are okay with this. I will be praying that the pain ease and you get better.
I am glad that the party went well and everyone liked the cake. It is nice that you did not have to bake the cake. You need to rest your arm and take care of yourself.
The rain is hitting everywhere. It is supposed to rain here all week long. I cannot believe that we are getting that much. If you are like us we do not need all this rain. It will be nice to have some sunshine but you know how it goes we will have all this rain and then when we need it we will not have any. This weather never does what we want.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Gail,
I am so glad that the snow melted right away. We saw on the news that you were getting the snow up that way. I cannot believe that it snowed this late in the year. I just hope that this is not a sign that we are going to have a cold summer.
The early explorers had to be brave. They went out on the ocean and did not always know exactly where they were going. I would never had the courage to travel.
How is everyone doing? I hope that they are well. How is Greg’s elbow? I hope that the swelling has gone down. That is so aggravating when that happens. The older we get the more that goes wrong with us.
Well not much else going on here. Just tired from trying to cleaning out mom’s house and here. I guess one good thing my brother and sisters are all getting to know each other again.
Have a great night

Hey Colleen
I spoke to them today to get more info. All my blood work was perfect, as well as EKG. No issues, accept being 35 lbs too fat.
I am so pissed off I cannot tell you. It is the hospital’s policy, not the doctor. They knew my weight prior to all testing. As far as I am concerned, Beverly Hospital in Beverly Ma, will not get one dime of money from anything wrong with me. I will never go there for anything.
the hospital where I had all the bone surgeries closed, hence the issue with this hospital. I am in such a mood you have no idea. I would call this a “rage” today. Already threw a phone, and remote. Not answering the phone, as I just do nto want to talk to anyone. I am too pissed off. Heather asked if I was angry with myself. Not. Everyone knew my weight. Why was this not an issue prior to all the testing that tortured me?
I struggle just to stay the same weight. Losing 35 pounds seems like a task that is not doable. It is what it is, and me and the shoulder will be fine. I am used to the pain, so who cares. I will, however, take the dam Alleve whenever I want to. tylenol does nothing for this pain. I also stopped cooking. everyone is on their own for now. Last night I had soup, with a package of the peanut butter crackers, and strawberries. I had 8 Robins eggs (a serving size of them is about twice that amount, per package directions….I think…..LOL) watching TV….LOL
Sorry for the rant. I am just so dam mad. Fat people have to pay all the time, even if their health is perfect. I don’t even wnat to take my blood pressure today. -
Hi Ladies,
Happy last day of April. Can you believe it’s gone already? I keep hearing about those awful storms barreling thru the country. I wish I could send our weather out there. They’re saying we’re in for several days of sunny & warm weather. We might even see 80 degrees on Sunday. Pretty unusual for us this time of yr. We don’t see 80s till late June.
Adele, I was thinking why would they put you through all those tests when I’m sure they knew they weren’t gonna do the surgery in the first place!!! I’d be mad as he– too if it happened to me. And don’t apologize for your rant. I would too!!Gail, did you catch Kirk’s Folly earlier today? Antonella was on with her & she was in full Antonella form. They had a chandelier that was gorgeous & A kept asking her director to order one for her & he wouldn’t, from the look on her face, & the tone of her whining.
And yes that was the shot (basketball) heard & seen around the world. The Blazers are in snowy Denver this week. I hope they can win a couple games, but I’m not too optimistic.!!
I can’t think of anything else so I’ll close for now
dd & Jewell -
Hi Adele,
I would be ranting and raving also. That was terrible to put you thru all that and then say they will not do the surgery because of your weight. I do not understand if all your vital signs were good why they will not do it. Just hang in there it should all work out in the end. I will be saying a prayer for you.
Well I better get off of here. It is starting to storming again. We have had tornado warnings tonight. This has been crazy weather.
Have a good night.
