Hi Everyone, I’m back from the north woods!
-
Hello Everyone,
Sue, I hope you find that ride to the doctor’s and that everything will be well.
DD, your kitty is really amusing! Too bad we couldn’t see movies. The blue butterflies by the water are so pretty and I loved that the hens were laying eggs in a buffet hutch. those are some classy chickens. People can be so creative with re-purposing things.
Colleen, hope you have a safe trip and a great visit. I must have missed something as I am not sure what you are doing at your house-new flooring?
Barbara, I hope everything works out and you get to see Colin. I don’t blame you for speaking up-it would be hard not to.
Sarah’s family certainly did things differently than most people. Our kids got to pick the meal and the cake when they were growing up. Jenny usually chose brownies-easy enough! lol I agree with everyone else a Children’s Museum or a Museum of Science and Industry that has a children’s section would be appropriate but I hope they’re not taking him to see Picasso’s and Monet’s. lol
Adele, Enzo can relax now as he was fearful of bringing up a girl. It looks like the party was on a nice day and it was a success.
Check out K49132, H 219285 and H 220157 some new temptations that I spotted this morning.
So we were supposed to leave for up north last Thursday and come home either Monday or Tuesday. So last week Greg kept telling me he had gas and was bloated and had a pain in his side and I kept saying call the doctor as I knew we were going out of town. So thursday morning when we were supposed to leave he decides he shouldn’t go out of town like this-so he starts calling doctors. They talked to the surgeon and he said that shouldn’t be anything related to the angio and he should see his regular doc. Well naturally she’s full but they found someone to see him-so he takes off to see the doctor, while he’s doing that i decide to bake two pound cakes to take with us. So he gets done and was diagnosed with diverticulitis-so she puts him on an antiobiotic and says she wants to schedule a cat scan when he gets back. So we finally get up north about seven that evening.
The guys went muskie fishing two times and got skunked both times. The guide was beside himself as he hates to take someone out and not have them catch fish.
So Sunday night he discovers he has a rash on his legs and we look up the side effects from the Cipro and rash is one of them so he stops taking it and calls the doctor the next day. So he went in yesterday as they couldn’t get him back in any sooner and they were running behind because they had a fire drill. So she didn’t do much and didn’t change him to a different antibiotic but he is scheduled for a cat scan next Friday and they are going to cover the diverticulitis and the granuloma they found on his lung before surgery all in one Cat Scan-I told him to ask if they could arrange it like that so he doesn’t have to do two different scans-it will save him time and money. Then he sees the cardiologist in another couple weeks. Other than this new stuff he feels good.
We had a fun time. I always enjoy seeing Tim and Nan and Nan and I usually do a bit of shopping. It’s always good to get home to your own bed too. Not sure when we will see the kids as they will be over at the fair this weekend.

Gail, I wondered where you got to. I figured you were away. I hope they get Greg’s problems resolved. These golden years are not very golden. Those scans are expensive glad you said to get just one. At least with my co pay they are.
I can drive to the doctor but needed someone for the out patient surgery. My friend could not do it so I called my neighbor & they will take me & bring me home. Can’t drive because of the anesthesia.

Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note in case you’re not aware, Aug. is Temptations month. I caught sight of some Boo fetti. It’ll be fall & halloween for this month. Where has this yr gone??Yes, Snowball is a character, very entertaining. I still miss my precious Jewell, tho.
-
It happened again. signing off before I throw this computer across the room!
take care,
dd -
Hi DD,
I didn’t know about Temptations month but I did see a lot of new Temptations yesterday-so that would explain it.
Interesting quote about butterflies.
It seems like the summer months go so fast and the winter months drag on and on.
Gail -
Sue,
I’m glad your neighbor will drive you back and forth.
Yes, the golden years do come with some challenges.
I was glad to get those tests consolidated for Greg. I had just thought of that and told him if they were doing a Cat Scan for both situations he should ask if they could do it together-that way he doesn’t have to pay twice and also doesn’t have to take the time off work twice. Because it was from two different doctors in the same network I wondered if they could coordinate it and they did.
Gail -
Hi Sue
So glad you were able to give us an up-date. so we know how you are. We will all be praying for you, no matter what day it is!
I am also glad you got your neighbor to get you back and forth. I am praying all goes well, and everything will be all good when it is over. We are all in your corner, and sending good vibes your way.
We will be waiting to hear you are ok,
Love you, Suzie Q!

Hey DD
Oh yes, I got the email on Boo Fetti temptations. I ordered the Frankie serving dish, and 2 sets of the ramekins, as I will give my Mom, Steph, and Heather one for their houses. I loved the pumpkin platter- still on the fence about that one, and the Boo fetti pedestal dish with the place card holders. I really love the pedestal dish, but, where in the world will I out it? Who knows, if Retail Therapy strikes, I may order it. God help me!
Thanks for the numbers on the lock n lock.
I love the pics and antics of Snowball. So, your cats never got under the covers on your bed? Every time there was a storm my white cat would go under there, and sometimes my grey cat would too. That is funny.
The storm was bad. Streets flooded, the airport had straight line winds, as well as the next town over- Winthrop. Gary was out giving bobby a ride to get his new truck. He finally decided to get a new vehicle. he had a 2007 Jeep. Heather bought the Jeep from Bobby, and her car may go to Steph, as she may finally get her license. So, we are doing a move around of vehicles….LOL Bobby got a Denali? I think that is the name- a GMC small bed truck. He is thrilled with it, so that is good. he did a lease. Everyone seems to be going that route now.
I hope all is good in your area today!
Adele -
Hey Gailster
I am glad you both had a good time. You deserve it, especially after all the worry about Greg. Glad you got home safely too.
Holy crap! Poor Greg. Diverticulitis is no joke. I had years of attacks, and ended up in the hospital many times to clear up the infections. Cipro is the antibiotic they prescribe for it, as it is a very powerful one. Other than that, it is an intravenous one- not sure of the name on that one. After years of dealing with it, I had a piece of my bowel removed, and have had no more attacks. When I was diagnosed, they told me no seeds, nuts, or popcorn. So, I did not have any for years. After the surgery, I was thrilled to be bale to eat popcorn again. you would think I died and went to Heaven. Imagine not having any nuts, seeds, or popcorn for over 10 years??
I hope everything works out well with Greg, and the tests do not show anything awful. We will all be praying for Greg and a good outcome. He has a lot of issues going on at once.
those numbers are some of the ones I was looking at, and bought. I saw an adorable Boo fetti towel, and pot holder on the site, and could not find that one at all. definitely want that! I am still on the fence about the pedestal bowl. It is so cute, but where will I store it? LOL
I love the pics of the watermelons. People are so craft with fruit displays.
Hope everyone is good at your place, and the weather is ok too. We will all be praying for Greg next week too.
Hope your day is going well.

Hi Ladies,
Gail, glad to see you had a good time up North. Is that Wisconsin or Michigan, or Minnesota? I don;t think I’ve heard of muskies. are they a big fish? I’ve heard of Pike but we don’t have them out here. we have salmon, trout, steelhead (trout that have spawned). Its good to get away for a few days, & breathe the fresh air of the great outdoors.
I hope Greg’s rash has gone away. that seems to be one of the main reactions to meds. I see it in my prescriptions alot. that’s good that they’ll do both the scans at the same time. Hopefully they’ll find out what’s going on & get it taken care of. -
Hi again,
we had a muggy, cloudy day today. we had some rain overnight, but not alot. But the weekend will be getting hot. We could see 100 on Sunday. HOpefully it won’t last very long.
Adele, have fun getting Boo fetti. I didn’t see the Frankie tray yet. I’ll have to check out all the new stuff.
A flock of crows are flying around the bldg right now & she’s going nuts!!! I think it;s the first time she’s seen that many birds. It’s a good thing I have the windows closed or she might try to take flight to catch one. I’ve tried sending short videos, but they’re too big for this site. sorry.
You’d get a kick watching em. they’re not very long.
I’m not sure why the kitties don’t like getting under the covers, we don;t the storms you guys do. the only time we have gale force winds is in the winter months when the storms come down from the gulf of Alaska. And yes I agree the winter months drag on & on, but the summer months fllllllly by!!!!
This week we celebrate America’s Night Out, but here where I live they schedule it for the afternoon. I guess they’ll have a barbeque, I’m not sure what all they have planned.
I’m sitting here watching snowball try to figure out how she’s gonna get around the hose to the AC so she can get to the other side of it. Oh she jumped down. that ended that.
Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
Have a great weekend & take care.
dd -
Hi DD
You are so right. the summer months do fly by, and we are still in the house, due to the humidity.
I got to sit out on the deck yesterday, as the humidity was down for just one day. Yahoo!!
The boys are coming with Heather today to spend the night. They will be in the pool, I hope.
Gary and i have been binge watching the How to Get away With Murder series. We recorded the whole year, and never watched it. We have 2 more to go.
I can just imagine how crazy the birds were making your kitty. My cats used to make this weird noise when they were watching a bird through the window., It was funny. They are a lot of fun to watch.
I didn’t feel good when I got up this am. Had a funky feeling of discomfort in my chest, and a lot of burping. I had the bed in the up position, and just chilled out until I felt better. I wondered if I was a little dehydrated form the fluid pill yesterday. so, when I got up, I has some orange juice with my breakfast- usually I have an orange. I feel ok now, just a little tired, and headachy. Don’t think it was a heart issue, as I was not sweating, and my heart was not racing.
Hope you have a good day!
Adele -
Well girls, I wrote another of my “catch up” notes to you all yesterday and POOF off it went just as I was finishing it up. So; will try again today and hope for the best. It has been on again off again storms passing through all week. The sun was bright yesterday and it was thundering so loud at the same time. Hope you have your ride worked out Sue, and all goes well for you. Please keep us posted as we all are praying that everything is good. I am sorry to hear of Gregs diverticulitis. That is so painful and can make you so sick. I am glad he went to see the doctor before your trip and didn’t put it off since you were going out of town. Hope his rash is gone by now. Cipro is a very strong antibiotic; but they do use strong ones for that. I am glad that you all had a good time on your trip. He really loves fishing doesn’t he? I like fishing too; but haven’t been in a few years. Neal had a beautiful speed boat (sold after marriage) that we used to go on so many fun days on the lake. It had a large teak platform on the back of the boat that you could stand on and the kids used it for diving off in the water. Thankfully it also had a ladder thing on it so I could get back in. I didn’t want to saddle anyone with the task of dragging me back in the boat. ha ha But I did love just lying in the water on a float thing and relax. No strenuous activities for me.
Sarah and Colin are driving from N.C. this Fri or Sat. to spend one or two weeks here. We called her Friday to check on them; and she said they are doing “just fine” Not sure where she was; but we didn’t hear the baby and she didn’t say. We did tell her that we couldn’t make the museum; but would be happy to go to dinner. I asked could I bring a cake, and she said she already has that taken care of. I asked do we bring presents and she said whatever, she would probably see us the next day when we will do “your birthday celebration”. Since I hadn’t said anything to anyone about us doing this the day after the dinner, I said to her well, we will just have to see but I am sure the dinner will be nice. Pray for us. I know in my heart that Neal will keep his word to us. Family…..what can I say?
Jerry shoulder blade is just killing him. I honestly think it is from his swimming and the motion he makes with his arms. Sounds silly I know; but this is the only new thing we have done. He broke his shoulder blade completely away from his spine and shoulder blade when he broke his back but for the most part has had minimal pain there compared to other places. But his pain has been so bad yesterday and Friday that he spent most of the day in his chair with a heating pad, and I had to rub that muscle reliever they sell on the Q. It helps him. Thankfully he is better today; not needing the heating pad. He rarely ever just sits all day; and even less asks for a heating pad; so I know he was really really hurting. I hate to see him suffer like that and I feel so helpless. But you know what? Today, he starts fussing over NOTHING; and I just literally cried. He said, whats wrong? and I said you should really be so happy to be in so much less pain today, but its like you forget way to soon, and I just can’t forget how blessed we are. I guess my message actually was heard; because he became quiet and after a few minutes said, how about we ride into town and pick up some dinner, your choice. Hope he heard me.
Thanks for the heads up on Temptations DD. I got the Lock and Lock container 9X13 for cakes, cupcakes, and deviled eggs trays. I just love it. Handle on the top; and since I bake lots of cakes in the throw away aluminum pans I get at Walmart for a dollar each, that I send the cake pan and all out to Joeys after saving us a couple of slices, this is just perfect to keep their portion fresh and they bring it back to me. I am like you all I really don’t need any more but they come out with something that makes me go back for more. They are so durable, both brands and so cute too.
Sue, the alarm bracelet I wear is through our same home alarm system but something I think is very similar is the First Alert. Not sure how much those are, but we pay about 30 extra a month added to our other alarms for it. I guess that is about as clear as mud, but it gives me such a feeling of security when I am out and about that I can get help. I love to drive and this makes me not worry that something could happen and I couldn’t get help.
The reveal party looks like such a success Adele. What a happy happy time for everyone now. Isn’t it just wonderful a new life coming and all the things we can’t even begin to imagine his little life has ahead in the future? I hope mama and daddy to be savor every moment.
Better close for now. Guess Colleen is really enjoying her trip with her family. That is so nice. Take care everyone. Barbara -
Hi Barbara,
I’ll bet you are really feeling the “dog days” of summer where you are. I’m glad that Jerry is feeling better. It’s hard to tell which things that we do are the things that our making us sore.
Greg does really love fishing. That’s why it was bittersweet when we sold the boat. I think his dream was to have a place on a lake somewhere but we have come to realize that will probably never happen. However, when he no longer works there’s no reason that we couldn’t rent a place on a lake for a few weeks each summer. So we shall see.
It’s interesting that our friend’s home is on the same lake where Greg and Tim went to summer camp when they were boys in The Paulist Choir. So there are always shared stories about when they were growing up.
I hope that you have a wonderful time with Colin. I’ll bet that you are so excited that he is coming. I hope Sarah agrees to let you spend lots of time with him.

Hi DD,
On our old board there used to be a place where we could post video but when they changed the board they took that part down.
I used to have a cat that would jump on the bed as soon as she knew I was changing the sheets. Then she would have to go under each layer and play catch my fingers and then I would have to take her out and cover her with the next layer until the bed was totally made. I think I had a lot more patience in those days. She was gray and white and would hide under a bed if anyone new was in the house. She was the cat that no one else saw but us. lol
By up north I mean northern Wisconsin-Saint Germaine to be exact. Lots of resorts and summer homes up there. Our friend is on a small lake and his brother has a cabin right next door. How cool is that?
A muskie is a large game fish that is fished for the challenge. They are a very wily fish and are hard to catch. For the most part Greg does catch and release except when they are in Canada and eat the fish for dinner right there and then. Plus now if people want a trophy for their wall-they take a picture of the fish weigh and measure it and release it and the taxidermist makes a facsimile. So much better for the conservation of species.
I am attaching a picture of a muskie-I don’t know the guy holding it-it’s just a picture I found online.
Gail
Whoops the picture disappeared from my saved stuff. -
Trying again.

Hi Adele,
That Frankenstein dish is so cute! I broke down and got the pedestal in the fall design-I figure that way it can be out for three months.
I always have a pretty dish on the island that I put our tomatoes in so I will use it for that. I figure I can also put a flameless candle in it.
What a horrific weekend concerning more mass shootings. I was in tears this morning watching the news. There has to be something that can be done. We need to stop the hate, be more aware of mental illness and for crying out loud-I understand second amendment rights but no one but the military or law enforcement needs an AK47. That seems like common sense to me but obviously it’s not.
We didn’t see the kids this weekend as they were all busy at the fair. We no longer do the fair as there is a long walk from parking to the fairgrounds and then a lot of walking in the heat at the fairgrounds.
Greg did his first round of golf this weekend since his stent placement. I am still so amazed and grateful for how far medical technology has come.
Our garden is now if full swing and the corn stand is open so I am in the summer glory of eating. Every night just about we grill something and cut up fresh veggies to eat with it. It’s my favorite time of year for food. I wish the time wasn’t so short.
So Marissa is feeling hormonal? lol You know when I was pregnant I was so busy taking care of Brent that I didn’t have the chance to be hormonal. lol
I’ll bet everyone is having fun looking at and picking out all kinds of baby stuff. Those little clothes are always so cute! Although I must say I was always more drawn to the frilly girl’s stuff. That’s probably why Jenny prefers a more tailored look. lol At least I have Piper who still likes unicorns and tutus and sparkles. She and I can dress alike! lol
Gail -
Gail, that is a big fish. We have some really large carp in our pond that are there to keep the algea cleaned up that forms in a pond. We also have cat fish and bass and since you have the South in your background I know you have probably heard of them all. When our sons were little we used to go every evening out to the pond and the boys would toss out bread or biscuit pieces and those fish would just have that water churning and the boys would be laughing and so excited. If I had known back then that we had some dangerous snakes here I wouldn’t have let them go anywhere near, but I guess it’s really a blessing I didn’t since they enjoyed it so much. We had a collie back then and she made every step the boys would make. It wasn’t until they were grown that our older son told us about once she had jumped out ahead of where they were walking through the corn field and grabbed up a snake and killed it. She was protecting our boys I know. I think that is another reason I love our animals so much. All of us have surely had some sweet fur babies over the years haven’t we?
Sue, I was just thinking, have you by any chance checked with Medicare or the Dept. of Aging (state program) to see if they would help arrange transportation to and from the doctor or hospital for you? I know here they do this; but you have to call and ask them. Also the Social Worker through the Dr. or the hospital is supposed to arrange this for you if you tell them you have difficulty since you are single and cannot drive yourself if you are ill or have had a procedure done. I just thought about this, and can’t believe that I haven’t already passed that idea along to you. Sure hope this helps.
I do hope we get to spend some good quality time with our grandson; and as ugly as this sounds; I want him all to ourselves. I don’t want to share our time with Sarah or her parents. I so wish things were different.
Gail, do you have the Kirks Folly windchimes? They are so beautiful and I can only imagine how it must be when the sun shines through all those beautiful crystals. I best Piper really loves to see your pretty sparkly pieces. I have a wonderful pearl necklace that our oldest son bought many years ago for Jerry while he was stationed in Japan. I love it so much. I bet you have some really special pieces too.
Adele, how is your shoulder doing? Good I hope. I was so happy to see you had no rain during the reveal party so it wouldn’t be acting up. It is just a shame how pain can ruin our day. Poor Jerry hurts so badly. But he internalizes so much and he gets so grouchy and it just gets so hard to be understanding but I try. Better go for now. We are eating just fresh veggies and salmon for dinner. Have a great day, Barb -
Hi Ladies,

Hi All
I am back from Melissa’s and we had a really good time. I forgot what it is like to travel with a three year old. They are not the easiest to travel with. We had some interesting things happen. Saturday we went to Nashville for the day and when we got back to the hotel we found that some one was smoking pot in the room or the one next door. the room smelt awful. So we had to get the kids out of that room and down to my room. They had to move them out of that room and into another one. So they gave her some money off the bill. I think that they should have done better then that. it was nice that I had a room that we could take the kids to.
Gail we are having all the floors redone. We have been wanting to get them done for awhile but have not been able to. Mom was sick and Ron’s bil was sick and we were doing a lot of running back and forth and helping to take care of them. So now it is time to get our things done. I picked out the flooring for the quest bathroom but are having trouble finding the carpet that I want. It is hard to find a good carpet that I like.
I am glad that you had a good time on your trip. It is a shame that the guys did not catch a fish. I hope that that they had fun just going. That is terrible that they did not give Greg something else to take besides that Cipro that broke him out. You would think that they would do more for him. I will be praying for him and they get this all straightened out.
DD you always post such pretty pictures. I wish that I could do that. Snowball sounds like a lot of fun. It is a good thing that she cannot get out of the window she would be gone after the birds. She would be fun to watch she is a funny cat. Your weather sounds really hot and miserable. That is the only trouble with August it is so hot and humid. Thanks for the heads up on the quacker show. I cannot believe that it is time to show all the fall things. I always miss the temptation shows. They always have such cute things.
Adele I hope that you have a good time with your grands tonight It will be fun to watch them in the pool. It is not easy to sit outside in this heat and humidity. I am ready for fall. I could not believe how hot it was i Tennessee I think it is hotter there then it is here. I will be glad when fall and winter get here. We will be able to go out and enjoy ourselves again.
Well that is about all from here. I hope that everyone has a great night.
ColleenBarbara I am sorry to hear that Sarah is still being so hateful to you and Jerry. I cannot believe that she does not see that Colin will not enjoy going to a museum. He is too little and will not sit and look at things. I just went on a trip with a three year old and would not go anywhere they will not enjoy themselves. They can be a handful. I hope things work out and she brings Colin to your house and you can have a party for him. Swimming is hard on the body if you are not use to swimming. You have to get use to it and it will get better. I use to swim and things like that happen. I also got pains in the back at first but that stopped after i got use to swimming. I will be praying for Jerry and hope that he is doing better soon.

HI Barbara,
Speaking of Kirk’s Folly I believe there are some shows on this week on the Q and Q2. I have a little tiny wind chime from years ago-it’s nothing like the ones that they sell now with those cascades of crystals. Those must be gorgeous when the sun shines through them-it must make rainbows all over the room. It reminds me of lamps that my grandmother had when I was a child that had all those crystals hanging around the edge. I could sit and watch the rainbows it produced for hours. I guess I loved sparkle even as a child.
Your old collie sounds like Lassie-she was a good protector for the boys. We used to have a Dalmatian that I used to send out with the kids if it would be a few minutes before I could get outdoors to be with them.
I hope you get lots of time alone with Colin. I don’t think it’s bad at all to wish for that. Hopefully Sarah will want to visit friends and will be happy to leave him with you. He should be such a fun age now too.
Good advice for Sue about the department on aging. I know there are some services around here where people drive people to doctor’s appointments and such. Not sure if it is the county or a private volunteer association.
We have koi in our pond and they are like Greg’s little babies and they follow him around the pond to be fed. We had to replace them all two years ago when the mink got all our others over the winter. They are growing like weeds and eating a lot right now-he has regular pellets that he feeds them.
We had grilled Italian sausage and fresh veggies and melon for dinner last night, similar to you. This is my favorite time of year for eating.
Gail -
DD,
Thanks for the heads up on the Quacker show. It will be time to sell Halloween stuff if people want to get them for the fall. I am in no hurry to rush the seasons as we had such a late start to summer.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
It sounds like you had a great trip and a lot of fun. Yes, we forget what it’s like traveling with little ones. I said to Jenny it was a good test of her boyfriend’s patience driving to Florida with three kids in the car-especially for someone who has no kids of their own.
Did you go to the Grand Old Opry in Nashville? I have not had the experience of people pot smoking in a close room in a hotel but others have told me that they had the same thing happen. The part I think is funny is there is no smoking in hotels anymore so do the pot smokers think that only applies to cigarettes? lol
I’m glad that you are getting your floors done. Our wood floors really need to be refinished and our first floor carpeting needs replacing but we have put it off because the dust from the refinishing and moving all the furniture is just such an enormous project. Maybe when Greg retires we will bite the bullet and get it done.
Yes, Greg likes to fish whether he catches something or not but he really prefers fishing for panfish and getting some action. Tim wants to catch the muskie as he has the cabin so he wants a muskie from Wisconsin, he already has a walleye from Canada-and he wants I think a Northern from Ireland and some other fish from New Zealand as trophies for their cabin. So these are really on his bucket list-Greg just likes to catch fish.

Barbara I have spoken to the Dept of Aging but they have been of little help to me. They have a Call A Ride service for seniors for appts but if you need any help you need someone to ride with you & you have to wait a long time sometimes until they get other passengers for a load (it is a van) so they take multiple people at the same time. Another issue with that is our hospitals won’t discharge you to public transportation. But I think I am set for now for rides one of my neighbors drove me & picked me up yesterday & seemed happy to do it. She called this morning to see how I was doing & said to call if I need anything. Two other neighbors have offered to drive me if needed. So I think it is all covered should I need a ride again. It is wonderful having nice caring neighbors.
I sure hate all the rushing of seasons. Christmas in July, Halloween in Aug. Totally skip Thanksgiving & next I suppose it will be summer in December. Hate it. Even Hallmark had Christmas movies the whole month of July so stupid. Winter will be here much to soon so let me enjoy summer when I can go out without coats, gloves & scarves & still be freezing.

Hey Barbara
When I read your note on Jerry and his shoulder blade, it reminded me so much of myself. The shoulder pain I get is in the same place, plus behind my ear, left side of neck, to the shoulder blade. Gary feels I am just as cranky as Jerry, if not worst….LOL It sucks to have these dam arthritic issues.Speaking of that, let me say what happened at the doctor’s Monday. ( that is why I was not on the site- too many calls and waiting for calls about what happened Monday) I went to see my spine doctor, about my neck, hoping some of the pain was form the neck, and could be helped with a shot. well, that did not work out well. My neck is not at the level to cause that kind of pain and he said the neck pain I am feeling is from the shoulder- he called it “refractive shoulder pain.”
On the positive side, the shoulder pain has been better since I was on the prednizone, and the change in NSAID med for the arthritis. It still gets the intense pain when I move the arm the wrong way, or reach for something. But, that stops after a couple of hours. I feel it has been a lot more bearable, and that is ok with me.
My spine doctor has known me for 16 years. He had a nice chat with me about how he has seen me deteriorate from the lack of mobility, and gain the weight, which stopped me from having the shoulder surgery. He felt awful about it, as well as the rest of the staff there, including my shoulder doctor. He asked me if I was ready to consider the bariatric surgery to help with the weight, and mobility. I knew his wife had a practice that specializes in weight loss. (she is also a doctor) So, long story short. I am considering the surgery. I made an appointment with his wife for a consult. Also spoke with my GP twice yesterday, to talk bout it. He feels the risks outweigh the benefits for me, and is on board with me going forward to see what the deal is. The appointment is at the end of this month. We shall see. Now, on to your DIL. Good Lord. i thought she was getting better, and her attitude had some improvement. Why does she always have to make it so hard for you to have happy times with little Colin?? Don’t fret about her and her attitude. When that baby sees you and Jerry, he will be so excited, and hug the stuffing out of you! That will make everything all worthwhile. Make your cake. Two cakes are better than one, and Colin can have the second cake at your house.
We are getting storms this afternoon. They even said there may be a threat of “rotation”….that is all I had to hear!
Did you see all the fabulous Boo Fetti and Pumpkin stuff on the temptations site??? So, I guess I will be getting rid of a couple of baking dishes to make room for the new ones…..LOL I got the square baker, as it is a little larger than mine, and mine is too small- 8 inches square. My old one broke years ago, and the one I got from temptations is just a little too small for the middle of the corn bread to bake right. Also got the covered Boo fetti pie plate….LOL I am still waiting for the kitchen towel and pot holders to be on the site- saw them on an email!
I hope your weather is cooler, so you and Jerry can sit outside. Forgot to ask- does the high humidity bother Jerry’s shoulder? It makes mine sore.
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
I am still eyeing that pedestal dish. But, i have that beautiful Figural Harvest soup tureen in the middle of the end of my table- have candy in it….LOL If i got it, I would have to out the tureen away.
Please read the post to Barbara, as i have the news of the past few days in there…….God help me!
I am glad Greg is feeling better. Is all the pain from the diverticulitis gone? I hope so. Was he able to finish the medication?
Is there any news on Brent?
I have been devastated by the shootings in the last week. The Walmart one was the worst. But, the other two were awful too. I can’t believe we are at the point of saying, one shooting was worst than the other. they are all awful, and nobody should lose a loved one from going out of their house to shop, or to an event. This hate has to stop. they have to shut down every site where these disgusting people talk to each other, and gain strength. The sale of these high powered rifles has to be outlawed in this country. Period.
Oh yes. Marissa is quite hormonal. She has almost lost her bubbly personality. there are now fewer times when she is in a good mood….LOL I know she is tired a lot. I think standing on her feet at Yankee is making her more tired, but she says it is fine.
It is fun getting stuff for a new baby. I got this adorable Dinosaur chair from Marshalls/TJ Maxx on line- it is green. It was only 20.00! I have quite a basket to make for the shower already.
How is Jenny doing? The kids? Are any of them in the Milk Maid Queen contest at the Fair this year? I know what you mean about the Fair. I have not been able to go to those in years.
Hope your day is going well, and the weather is better than ours.
Adele -
Hello ladies!
I heard from Sue on an email last night. She was home, and doing well- not too much pain. Her neighbors have been real sweet and she is grateful to have all of them.
Adele -
Gailster….that is a huge fish!!
Barbara
My shoulder gets sore when the humidity is high, and rain is on the way. It was sore last night, in bed too, but, not as bad as before. I am wondering if the rotator cuff has somewhat repaired itself. At least that is what I am hoping!
You should not feel bad at all about wanting some special alone time with little Colin. You deserve it. I will add a prayer to my routine that you and Jerry get some alone time to enjoy his cute little self.
Adele -
Hey DD
thanks for the reminder of the Quacker show today. I have to tell Tillie!
I will peek on the Q about the Halloween decorations I missed. Did you get anything? I am such a sucker for anything Halloween.
How is everything? How is pretty crazy kitty doing? Steph’s kitty went after the butterflies they were raising in the butterfly house. She ripped the wings off two of the butterflies during the night. the boys were upset. Steph moved the butterfly house way up high, but, as we all know, a cat will find a way. I hope they survive until she can let them go outside.
Our skies are getting darker up here….
Adele -
Hey Colleen
Glad you are all back, safe and sound. It sounds like you all had a great time. That was hysterical about the pot smell in the hotel….LOL I thought smoking anything was not allowed in hotels. That’s a story you will be telling for generations! The kids had a good time in the pool. I always miss them when they go back home, and they live only 5 minutes away. Steph is going for her drivers permit…..again. i hope this time she will follow through and get her license, so she can come over any time she likes.
Please read the post to Barbara, as all my updates are in that one….LOL
How did the floors come out???? All done, I hope?
Have a good day!
Adele -
Hi Sue!
How are you feeling today? I hope you are ok, and on the mend. Prayers sent your way!
Are you getting ready to watch the Quacker show? Tillie and I will be watching. I hope Angel has Antonella with her. I love those two together.
I totally agree- you can never find a coat in the winter, or a bathing suit in the summer. Everybody rushes the seasons and days.
Hope you are sipping a nice cup of tea, and on the couch, waiting for the Quacker show to begin.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds all of you doing fine. Did you enjoy QF today? Lots of cute halloween tops. couldn’t afford any, but that’s okay. I did however, order the set of 4 mini bakers from temptations. I got the harvest set. Good for portion control. I shouldn’t have but I couldn’t resist.
Colleen, I’m glad you had a good trip. Traveling with kids can be stressful. Smoking pot in a hotel? That’d be awful!!! Whoever did it must’ve smoked quite a bit. I don’t know how they could do it & not get reported for it. I hope the floors came out okay.
Adele, did you buy out QF & temptations of halloween items? Tara had alot of new things on her show today. Alot of fall & halloween items. Be sure to catch David’s Fri-yay show. I think its the show where he’ll have some harvest/halloween items.Does anyone know what happened to Antonella on Tues. show she was presenting? She posted an apology for what happened, but I didn’t see it. She got lots of kind comments including myself. I’m not absolutely sure but she had to leave the set for a few minutes, but I;m not clear on why. I hope she’s doing better now. Whatever the reason.
Snowball is asleep on the paperbag. If I lay any paper down on the floor, she makes a bed of it almost immediately. she’s quite a character. she was in one of those squirrley moods this afternoon & she went every which way in the apt. she has a hard time getting traction on the slick tile floor & when she rounds a corner her hind quarters don’t make it. It’s hilarious to watch.
We just had a couple of 90 degree days, & today we were back down to the 70s. The weather out here flips on a dime. We may not see 80s for at least 10 days if not more. That’s fine with me!!! It looked more like fall today. I can smell a change in the air.Got a question to ask. Is anybody ready to start decorating for fall? I am. Not so much halloween, yet. (Oh I heard Adele let out a yelp) lol. Just the fall colors, pumpkins, etc.
I’m still reeling from the 2 shootings over the weekend. And don’t get me started on #45 & his lip service; lies. His rhetoric isn’t helping soothe things down any!! No one needs an AK-47 sub machine gun, except for the military in war.
Well, I guess that’s enough for now.
take care
dd -
Sue,
I’m glad that you now have lots of options for rides.
I don’t like to rush the seasons either. The cold and darkness comes soon enough. I prefer not having to wear long pants and shoes and socks-I like shorts and sandal weather better. And I like to go out without fear of falling on the ice or snow.
Gail -
Hi DD,
Was the set you got those four mini loaf pans. They were very cute.
I won’t put out any fall stuff until after Labor Day. I’m in no rush to say goodbye to summer-knowing what comes afterward.
It also depends on my mood. Some years I don’t put out fall at all-and then last year I went all out. I guess it depends on how energetic I am feeling.
I do have a fall village which I love and after many years of not putting it out I dug it out last year and then once that was up it inspired me to do more. lol
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Well you will have some big decisions to make coming up. It sounds like you have good sensible supportive doctors but this will not be a decision to make lightly.
So you succumbed to the temptation of Temptations! lol That Frankenstein platter is so cute-but also very large.
They had a lot of cute things in the show yesterday.
Brent is good. He works a lot of hours. We are deciding now if we will go to NM this year or if we will meet somewhere in between. There is not much to do in the area where he lives and it’s miles and miles from any of the bigger cities so we shall see.
Jenny and the kids are good. None of them ran for any princess at the fair. Kendall was going to show one of her grandfather’s cows but then decided against it after the cow kicked her. So she just worked at the 4H food booth. Our kids go back to school on the 15th-that’s next week already. Why do they go back on a Thursday?
The doctor didn’t change Greg’s prescription so he only actually took the cipro for 4 of the 7 days. He has a Cat scan tomorrow and an appointment with the cardiologist next week. The doctor treating him for the diverticulitis never mentioned anything about diet or anything but maybe he will get more info after the cat scan. The day he went back there there had been a fire drill so they were running behind so I think they were just trying to get patients in and out.
We have tickets to see a 4 seasons tribute group this weekend so that should be a good show-the guy that sings with them played Frankie Valli in the Chicago production of Jersey Boys-which we actually did go and see.
We haven’t seen the kids for a couple weeks so I’m looking forward to seeing them tomorrow-even though Piper will be at Isla’s for birthday party. Have to get my teeth cleaned this afternoon. They changed my appointment because my regular hygienist had her baby early so she is off on maternity leave. i wonder who will be doing the cleaning-hopefully it’s not some butcher. lol
Gail
Do you have traffic circles by you? They are putting one in on Greg’s way to work and on the way to the tollway-they also put one in on another road around here that never seemed to be that busy in the first place. I guess we are just country bumpkins as we find them very confusing and more dangerous than the intersections that they replaced. Even though they are supposed to be safer. I guess we’re just dumb. lol -
AnonymousInactiveAugust 8, 2019 at 11:57 amPost count: 643
Gail I agree 100% it is so dangerous to walk on snow & ice. I stay in as much as possible when it is bad which seems to be a lot around here in winter.
Did you say that you bought some of the Anytime pieces? I ordered yesterday to see if I like them. Thought they may be comfy to wear at home. I guess you can wear them out too as Angel said she travels in them.
I think I am improving a bit everyday. Have been taking it easy. I am waiting now for them to bring my car back. They picked it up for inspection. I was so upset when my go to man retired but I found another garage close by that picks up & delivers also so am giving them a try. My hairdresser told me about them.
We don’t have any traffic circles around here yet. They do seem confusing to me too but I guess anything new is until you get use to it. They seem to be the new thing.
-
Hey DD!
I did get a couple of the Temptations- one in the Fall, and one in the pumpkin – the pie plate, and covered baker. I also got the Frankie dish, for me, Steph and Heather. One of the dishes came broken, so it is on the way back for a replacement. Nothing else has been delivered.
I am also heart sick over these killings. Nobody needs an automatic gun, accept the police. Period. I can’t imagine the heartache they all feel. Then add this stupid raid of the immigrants, and the kids are left homeless. So you take the tax paying immigrants, and now the country has to pay to raise their kids. Seriously?? Even if the kids go with relatives, the state will have to pay them as foster parents, as who can afford to raise someone else’s kids with today’s prices for everything? I saw one girl on TV crying her eyes out that her parents are gone. What are we doing to children???
We had lots of storms last night. The humidity is way up there today. We are supposed to get more storms late today, and then it will get more tolerable. I am sore form the rain and humidity. It will pass.
Your kitty is a real funny one. I bet she is very entertaining. She is certainly good for your soul, as they say.
I have no idea what happened to Antonella. I love her, so let me know if you find out.
Hope your day is good!
Adele -
Dd…forgot to say. I always have my pumpkin Temptations out, with the glass pumpkins I collect….LOL
Adele -
Hey Sue
I have a lot of the Anytime Loungers pants, tank tops and jackets. All day long the jacket goes on and off, when I get hot or my shoulder needs to be covered so it does not ache. their stuff is very comfy, washes well, and you can wear them out. they have petite pants, and various styles, with great colors too. I really love them. Even Tillie got 2 pairs of pants from them.
I am so glad you are feeling better.
I hope the new car mechanics will work out for you. It is so hard to find people who do good work, and you can trust. It is good they came recommended from a friend.
Hope you feel a little better every day!
Love you, Sue! -
Hey Gailster!
You have a lot going on too. So much with Greg and Brent. I am waiting for a day when we all will have no doctor appointments looming, or any health issue to deal with. Won’t that be nice??? My social calendar is doctor visits…..LOL
Oh yes, I did partake on the temptation to get Temptations. Now, I have to decide what to get rid of, or donate to the girls….LOL I had no idea that Frankie dish was that big…..LOL I am still eyeing the pedestal Boo Fetti. God help me!
OMG- did the cow hurt Kendall? I can see how she decided not to show that silly cow. Piper will certainly miss her visit with Nana and Papa. She is such a cutie.
Our kids do not go back until after Labor Day this year. Aizen starts Kindergarten. Can you imagine????? I got them both new underwear for school, and as it is JJ’s birthday the first week in September, he always gets all clothes for school. I got a couple of things for The Aizen too. The Aizen was very excited about this orange plaid shirt I showed him at Macy’s on line when he was here. When I told Steph the shits came in, he was very excited. So, when I was getting the boys undies, I saw a Patriots onesie for the new baby. i got that too, as I will give it to Enzo for his birthday the end of the month. He will get a big kick out of that.
My friend Winnie’s anniversary of her death is today. Her sister is going to the new Casino tonight to see a show. I think that’s great, as she will not be home alone. Al is home- I text’d him. I told him to give Joanne 20.00 so Winnie could guide her to a winning machine and he can feel better about today. I need to have them over for dinner again.
Oh yes…. we have what we call in Boston “rotary’s” Massachusetts drivers are notorious for being very aggressive. Your life is in your hands trying to get off the rotary. But you can always keep going around, and get off when it is safe….LOL
It is hot and humid again here. I swear I will never be out on the deck again until it snows!
Love ya!
Adele
PS…did you read out the attempted murder of the butterflies by Steph’s cat???? I think I had it in Barbara’s post?? -
Hi Ladies,
I’ve been watching Down Home with David & he had a preview of his show tomorrow night. So, it starts at 8 pm ET. He’s calling it David’s big Halloween. It’s his first show so it should be interesting. The preview was large pumpkins & gourds in 3 colors, copper, black,(new), & orange. they have lights all around.
I did get the set of 4 mini bakers in harvest. That way I get a sample of each pattern without paying an arm & a leg for a large set I don’t have room for.We got a taste of fall today. It’s been gloomy all day & we barely got to 70. No rain just heavy cloud cover. we could get showers tomorrow & Sat, then summer makes its return the first of the week.
That;s all for now. Enjoy the show.
dd
PS: David tried to mimick a witch, but he’s no Angel when it comes to that -
Hi Gail,
I hope that Jenny’s boyfriend survived the trip with the kids. It had to be hard when he has not had any kids. I wonder if she warned him what it would be like. I guess if he is over there a lot he knows what is like being around kids. Have you met him yet? What do you think of him?
How is Greg feeling? I hope that he is feeling better. He has a lot of doctors appointments coming up. It will make it hard for you also. You and Greg are in my prayers.
Did you buy any of the fall Quacker? I have not bought anything from the new fall line. They have some cute things. I am glad that they brought back the button down the front tops. They have such cute designs on them.
It sounds like a lot of fun going to see the four seasons show. These groups that are supposed to imitate the old groups are pretty good. I have not seen any that I have not liked.
It is really good news that Brent is doing ok. It is good that he is working a lot of hours. It is probably helping out a lot with all the doctors bills. It is really hard on people when they are sick and have to worry about the bills that are coming in.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Gail, we did not do anything other then go to the trampoline place while in Nashville. We wanted to go and see where that Pickers building and go inside for a few minutes. We stayed at that place for the kids too long to do anything else.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
You have a lot of decisions to make. I hope that you make the ones that will work for you. I will be saying a prayer that it all works out for you. When do they want to do all of this? Your doctor sounds like he is really good. He really cares about you and talks to you as honestly as most doctors should with all their patients. I wish that mine did.
We did not do very much while we were gone. We did not do anything while in Nashville while we were there. We went to the trampoline place for the kids and that was it. There is so much to see there but maybe the next time.
It would be nice if Steph got her license this time. She really needs to know how to drive. It is hard when the kids go home.It gets really quite and it just seems lonesome without them. It seems so quite here without the kids here.
The floors are not all in yet. They did the kitchen and the dining room and that was it. He is supposed to come back Saturday and finish with the whole job. He did a good job what they got done. They did break the island in the kitchen when they moved it. I could not believe that the did that. It was Ron and his nephew that did the floors. His nephew has been laying floors for 40 years so he is good at it. He helped to move furniture and things which he says that he usually does not do at other jobs. So I guess that we were lucky he did it here. He said that he is afraid that things get broken. lol
Well that is all from here. Have a great night
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I wonder why they are doing all those big things now. They are hard to store and take up a lot of decorating room. I guess you have to have a big house to have those decorations. My place is small. I do like to look at them though.
The set that you got from temptations sound really nice. I wish that I bad the room for that stuff in the house. We have more things now then we know what to do with.
I have not bought any Quacker stuff either. I bought a lot when they were having all the clearance items. I bought a lot then. So now I am broke and cannot buy any more for awhile. I have been doing a lot of Christmas shopping So have got a lot done.
I hope that your weather does not get really hot again. This really hot weather is getting to everyone. Your Snowball is so cute. She must keep you entertained. I am so glad that you found each other. You both needed someone to care for.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hey DD
OMG….I am so excited about that show tonight. I just recorded it in case i miss anything. So, I see Isaac is on now. (the morning show) Who is the host with him???? She is standing with her legs way apart…does she think that makes her look better? Very weird.I love the Fall pics. I am all about the Fall….LOL
We are not having any Fall weather up here! At least the humidity has gone down. Thank God!!
Can’t wait until tonight. I even told my friend Joyce about it…LOL
Talk tomorrow…
Adele
PS- started to write this early today, and never got back in to finish until now. -

Hi Adele,
I hope you enjoy the show tonight. I can’t afford anymore stuff. Were you referring to Jen Coffey? or Pat-James Dementry(sp)? Pat’s on right now. Jen was on earlier for 3 hrs with IM.
Not much going on here. Poor Snowball got an unexpected bath today. She was in the bathroom sink & I was trying to clean up her eyes, & face when she arched up turning on the water faucet. OOOOOOOOOPS!! I grabbed her up & held on to her so she wouldn’t hurt herself by jumping out of my arms. I tried to dry her off but she wouldn’t have any of it. she’s stretched out on her papebag bed to my left.
That’s all for today.

Adele go out and enjoy the weekend. It is going to be low 80’s & low humidity. You could not ask for better than that. Go get yourself some fresh veggies at the Farmers Market.
-
Hope everyone is having a good Friday. Sue, please take it easy and get lots of rest. After any medical procedure any surgery even outpatient; our body really needs to get plenty of good old fashioned rest to bounce back. So glad it is behind you. Wish the driving help would have been better for you; but you are so right there is nothing like having good friends you can depend on. This just shows what a nice person you are to have folks who are so willing to help you out in time of need. Bless them for being caring people.
Adele, you do have lots to think of with all the new decisions to make. So happy your doctors are good; and caring. I know you will do your research and have your pen and paper with questions and ready to write down answers when you go in for your consultation. I have known both those who have had weight loss surgery and those who have chosen not to. I am not sure how I would decide. Prayers for you so you will know the right decision.
Colleen, so glad you all are home safe and sound. What a shock to have to deal with the pot issue at the hotel. Guess Nashville has more than country music on the menu.
I am so looking forward to seeing the baby. I already have his plans for his birthday cake. He will have a spiderman cake made by his MiMi. It will be my first, but hope it is cute for him. ‘
Better close, Joey and Lisa just stopped by. Will write more later. Hi and bye DD. lol Barb -
Hey Colleen!
It is very quiet when the kids leave. I get that up here too. You can hear yourself think….LOL
I am sorry they broke your island. That stinks. It seems every time something is done, something else needs to be done after.
The next time you go back, you can visit the places you missed. Sometimes it is fun just to be together, and not do so many activities.
I have the appointment to discuss the surgery and possibilities the end of August. I have to figure out recovery time, so I do not ruin the baby shower in November. It is a lot to consider.
I hope by now the last floor is in, and you are all set. It will be so nice when everything is complete, and you can get back to normal.
Hope you are having a good weekend….Heather was here for a sleep over. Marissa came for breakfast- we sent her to IHOP with our gift certificates, and even Tillie came up for breakfast. That was fun. Now it is very quiet again.
Adele -
Hey DD
Well I did love the Halloween show. Heather and Gary were laughing their butts off at me. I was so excited about everything. I got the ghost and the pumpkin with the witch hat- both of those. One will go downstairs on the bureau, when you come in the house, and the other two will be up here. i am going to purge more decorations, and change to ones easy to put out, and put away. Marissa wants some of my things, as they will be in a new apartment. Her FIL is re-doing the bottom floor of their house for an in-law apartment for the 3 of them….Marissa, Enzo and the new baby. So, she will have room to decorate. I have plenty of stuff to donate! I have to start to keep the decorations more simple up here. I love the lighted decorations. I have plenty for Christmas, so I do not need anymore of those. I just do not want to put out so much Dept 56 anymore. I even thought of donating some to the local library, if Marissa does not want all of them.
Your kitty is funny. You were lucky you could grab her in time! She traumatized herself.
hope you have a good day.
Adele -
Hey Sue
I hope you are feeling better today, and a little better every day.
I am going to sit out tomorrow, as you are so right. The weather will be good, for a change, and I do not want to waste any of it.
Today is rained a little off an an. We had a few showers that passed through.
Early this morning, Gary and my neighbor tired to fix the tree. Well, that made it worst, and more branches split off. Now the tree has no back branches at all. I think I will end up losing it completely, as now it is not even and with the winter storms, that may finish it off for good. i will hoep for the best.
Hope you got a chance to sit outside for a while today. Did you get any rain down there??
Still praying for you to get better fast!!
Adele
PS…I heard there is a nasty man on the loose in Tenn. Hope Barbara is ok. -
Hey Barara
Have you any information on the plus or minus of the surgery from your observations?? Wondering what you have seen as a nurse in these procedures…..
I heard there is a nasty man on the loose in your state. Please be careful- it made our evening news. I hope you are all safe down there.
I am dying to hear the storied of little Colin’s visits with you two. Take pics of the cake- I bet it will look, and taste fabulous!!!
hope you have a good visit with Joey and Lisa.
Thank you for your prayers. I do need to take all in account, before I go forward.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone fine. I think we’re in for an early fall. It sure looks & feels like it. there’s a weather system that’s brought alot of thunderstorms on the East side of the state. and it’s affecting us too. Some of the system came up from the south & it’s been here all day, & really opened up tonight. Before I forget, ITKWD will be 5 hrs Sunday, & there’s alot of Temptations, with boo-fetti included in the show. Looked like alot will be new. there’s Pumpkin patch, & FL Pumpkin, too.
Barbara, I hope you’re safe. I heard about that escaped killer on the news, too. AIltho I doubt he’d stick around. I’ll keep you in my prayers. I agree with you about the body needs alot of rest after any kind of surgical proceedure. After having a few myself I know it’s true.
I hope you have a wonderful time with little Colin. I’m sure he’ll love the cake. I still don’t understand your dil & her family not having any kind of party for their kids. I didn’t have big parties, but my mom did bake a cake & decorate it with those candy decorations, & candles. Nothing fancy, but that’s fine. taking a 3 yr old to a museum is beyond my comprehension. a children’s museum I can understand.
Adele, I’m glad you enjoyed the Halloween show. they did have some new stuff. Since they don’t have much for halloween I’m not surprized most of it sold out. The ghost, the black cat, sold out in both shows. They went faaaaaaaaast!!!
Oh, Antonella had a reaction to some meds she’d taken & it took affect sooner than she expected. She was embarrassed beyond words.
Snowball has taken over my TV cart. It’s funny cause there’s hardly any room there for her to move. Cats!!! She’s very entertaining.
Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
stay safe!!

Hey DD!
I have ITKWD on now. How do you know what they are having on the shows? I get the Quacker emails, but not the ones for ITKWD.
I am sick over me poor tree in the front of the yard. The blooms on the Limelight Hydrangea Tree got huge, and were so beautiful. The last rain storm we had made the branches bend way over from the weight of them, and a branch snapped off. Gary and my neighbor Mike tried to support the remaining branches, and yesterday morning, another branch snapped. I took a pic of the tree now. Tomorrow, Gary and Mike are going to cut the remaining branches back, to try and save what is left.
Gary said I care about the tree more than him….LOL LOL
It is less humid here today, but will still be in the 80’s.
So, today I am making corn bread and hot dogs for supper- pretty easy, as corn bread is very simple. I am using my new 9 inch baker form Temptations, as it is a little larger than mine, and it should get the middle of the corn bread to cook better. I got the pumpkin one. My old one, I am giving to Marissa. She will be looking for any things I give away for the kitchen as they will be in the in-law apartment some time in the Fall, we think.
Hope you have a good day!!
Hope Sue is ok….Barbara too.
Adele -
hey all
That is Bobby’s new truck in the pic, with the first branch that was cut off. I out both branches in water to try and get them to root.
Has anyone rooted a branch from a tree before?????

Hi Barbara,
We were not in Nashville. We stayed in Cookville where my daughter lives. We were really surprised when we got back from Nashville and the room smelled like that. What are people thinking when they do things like that. At least we had another room to take the kids to.
I hope that you are having a great time with Colin. it will be so much fun to have him for awhile and for him to see the cake that you made for him. Just enjoy every minute you have with him.
That is about all from here. Hope that Jerry is doing better and his shoulder is better.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
That is terrible that the storm damaged your tree like that. Ron has put limbs in water and they have grown but do not think that all of them have. I will ask him tomorrow how he does it. I am not sure if there is something special that you have to do.
I hope that you will be able to work this all out so you can be there for the shower and enjoy yourself. Have you done any research on the procedure? I know that you will make the right decision and you will fine.
I am not happy about what they have done to my island. So we are going to look for something else to put there. We have a lot of storage in it and it is full. I have a lot of appliances in it so we have to have something there. I need a lot more space. I really wish we had more cabinet space.
I hope you are enjoying the peace and quite right now. It does not last long. It is fun having the kids around and watch them in the pool. I am waiting for the kids to come down and get in the pool here. They have not been here since we got home from our trip.
The floors are all down and now all I have to do is find carpet that I like. I have not seen anything that has really caught my eye yet. I never thought it would be that hard finding carpet.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I missed the ITKWD. He probably had a lot of cute things on there. It was a long show today. It is nice that they are having some better shows on the q here lately. For awhile they were getting boring.
Poor Antonella she is so sweet and funny. I hope that she is doing ok now. I really do like watching her on any show that she hosts. They have so many new hosts on there it is hard to know which is the host and who is the seller.
Not much going here. Just a lot of clean-up from all the mess they made laying the floors. I will be glad to get back to normal
Have a great night
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
Are you looking for a carpet that has a pattern in it, or a plain plush? Any particular color? Just wondering. I found a great carpet with a delicate, small, leaf pattern going through it for the stairs. I wanted a pattern, as it hides the stains. It goes with everything. I got it at either Home Depot or Lowes- i think ti was a Martha Stewart pattern. I hope you find what you want. If you are like me, it will take you a year to find the right one. I always take a long time deciding, because you will live with it for a very long time.Cab you put another island in the kitchen, where the old one was? It seems like that is what you really need, to have more cabinet space and storage. Those islands do have a lot of storage, and some have electrical outlets in them too.
I am attaching a pic of some of the flowers that I saved from the tree. The blooms are so beautiful. My neighbor told me that one of my other neighbors has been picking some blooms from my trees to put in a vase. You know, I would not pick blooms from other people’s trees unless I asked. I am not sure I was too happy about that. But, i did not say anything as they are very close with that neighbor. I just thought it was an odd thing to do, as it could affect the growth of a tree when you pluck off the flowers all the time.
I am wondering if the doctor will say I am not a candidate for a belly surgery, as my belly has been having a lot of issues lately. It has become very sensitive and I have been in the bathroom a lot lately. We shall see. not an appointment I am really looking forward to….LOL Like last night- had 2 hot dogs, (the uncured ones) one hot dog roll, one piece of corn bread, and about a cup of baked beans. After dinner I had a very small dish of vanilla ice cream- about a cup, or less. I ended up on the bathroom within 3 hours. Not fun. Oh well.
I hope your day is going well. We will be getting rain tomorrow, I have heard.
Adele -
hey girls……I also hope that Antonella is ok. I really love her. She and Dave are my favorite hosts.
Adele -
Hi Everyone,
DD, that’s funny that your cat gave herself an unexpected bath. I like those decorative balls that you posted that have candy corn om them. For some reason I love the look of candy corn but don’t like to eat them at all. I figure I must be attracted to the combination of colors.
Barbara, I’m sure the spider man cake will be very cute and Colin will love it because you made it.
Glad they caught that criminal in your area. Isn’t it amazing that they caught him because that couple saw him on their ring doorbell. They deserve the reward! They must have been so scared when they saw him out there.
Colleen, I was also wondering if you can get a new island too. I know I would have to get one if mine got broken as I have so much stored in it that I wouldn’t have room for anywhere else. I also have a place to plug stuff in on one end.
You know we know someone who went to The Pickers building in Iowa and they said there was hardly anything in there. I wonder if there is more stuff in Nashville. It seems like they also buy a lot of stuff that other people have hired them to look for.
We have one of those trampoline places in the town that Jenny works in. Lachlan’s birthday is today and for his party next weekend the kids are going to some Ninja place. Jenny likes when the kids have the party somewhere else besides her house so she doesn’t have the big mess to clean up. lol
I read about Steph’s cat the butterfly murderer. Did you know butterflies only live for a few weeks after they hatch? I was very disappointed when I found that out at The Butterfly Palace. It made me sad.
Your flowers are so pretty-I think it’s weird that the neighbor was picking them without asking but that is not the first time I have heard of that happening. some people are just kind of rude.
Antonella is just fine. I have seen her on a couple of shows since that occurrence-so it must have been a one time thing.
The doctor’s office left a message for Greg the other day saying every thing from the Cat Scan looked fine-so now we wonder if he really had diverticulitis or something else. I said he should call the doctor who did the diagnosis and find out what’s going on as it was someone other than our regular GP. But who knows if he will do that. But they never told him anything about not eating seeds or nuts or anything. It’s too bad they have Hippa laws or I could just call and find out myself like in the old days.
I like that Gary and Heather were amused by you watching the decorating show. I must admit I bought the wood pumpkin with the hat to put on my front porch with my big lanterns. I hope it’s cute.

Well I did myself in today. I went & got corn, tomatoes & a homegrown cantaloupe. Then I came home & husked the corn & blanched & froze some & kept some to eat. Then I had that mess to clean up & dishes to wash. So I had corn & tomatoes for dinner. That is good eating to me. Gail I had bought some peas & tomatoes before. Just love fresh fruit & veggies. So now I am tired. Strange I use to do so much more & it did not bother me. I would like to get some white corn too if I can find any. It is later than the yellow. I want to check where I got before & see if they will have this year. Saw my neighbor today & he is bringing me some apples. I also want to find some peaches. So this is definitely my favorite time of year.

Hi Ladies,
summer has returned, for now anyway. We really had a taste of fall this weekend. We broke a record for rain in a 24 hr or less period Sat. night. We had more rain that night than we ever have. we DON”T get alot of rain in August!! July & August are our driest/hottest months of the yr. I sent a local tv station’s write up to my FB friends. Then this morning I swear there was fog around the area. That’s a clear sign of fall in the air. Here anyway, I hope the temps are falling out your way.
Girls, Antonella is fine. she’s been on a couple or so of shows. She was on yesterday with VitaMix, today for jewelry, & 2hrs with Lisa Renna. So she’s doing fine. Yayyyyyy!!! Oh she did an hr with HairUwear, she was wearing one of the wigs in her natural color. Knowing she’s Italian it’s hard for me to see her as a blonde.
Adele, I’m so sorry about yur beautiful tree!! I’m glad you were able to save some of the flowers. I love hydrangeas.
Colleen, I agree, can’t your replace the island in your kitchen? I don’t have a clue how they’re put in or anything. Is a shame it got broke. Can you salvage any part of it? Perhaps use at least part of it in another part of the house. I’d put another one in if you need the space for stuff.
It sounds like all of you had good times with your little people. I hope Barbara had a wonderful visit with Colin -

Hi again,
I’m not sure what happened. My computer locked up for some reason, then it sent two of my posts.
I was gonna explain, I got my set of the 4 mini bakers from Temptations. They’re ADORABLE!!! So now I have harvest in most if not all the patterns. I don’t need large sets of it. Anyway, I set the box they came in out in the middle of the living room to see if furball would do anything. Sure enough she did. It was hilarious!!
Sue, take it easy. Don’t over do yourself too much. I think we all to the point where we can’t do as much as we used to, even 5 yrs or so ago. I know I can’t.
So just take it slow & easy, please.
Well, I’ll sign off for now.
dd -
Hi Adele,
I am not looking for a pattern. I do not think that I would like that in the living room. I bet it looks really good on the steps. I am not sure what I am looking for. That is why I am having so much trouble picking it out. I think that I will know it when I see it. At least I hope that I will.
Your flowers from your tree are really pretty. That neighbor has a lot of nerve picking the flowers off the tree without asking you. She should have at least asked you. Some people really have a lot of nerve.
We are going to look for another island. I would like one that you can roll it so when we are not using it we can push it up against the wall. I have seen a couple like that. Will try to find one and see what they look like. I hope that they have the storage that I need. It is really hard to find all these things. It does seem like we start out to do one thing and then three other things go wrong.
You may be having trouble with your stomach because you are nervous about the surgery and what they are going to tell you. I get a nervous stomach when I am worried about something.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
I hope that if we go to that pickers place it will have some things in there. It would be fun to go and look around. It is a really big building so they should have something i n there. lol
We are going to go and look for an island that is on wheels. Then we can push it up against the wall when we do not need the counter top to work on. We have been doing a lot and having to replace things that got broken. The closet door fell over and cracked so we will have to replace that one day but not right away.
What will they do at the Ninja place? That sounds interesting I have never heard of one of those places. I hope the kids have a great time. Will you and Greg go or have a party for him at your house? We take the kids out to eat now on their birthday except for Aliza. They still have a family party for her. She is so little she still likes to have the parties.
Well that was good news that Greg’s cat scan came back okay. So now all they have to figure out why he was having that problem. You cannot win it is bad not knowing for sure what it was. Still praying for him.
Well that is about all from here. Tell Lachlan I said Happy Birthday!
Colleen -
Hi DD,
Snowball looks so cute laying that box. He found a new place to sleep. He is just so cute. You must really have a great time with him. He is so pretty and sounds like a lot of fun.
That is good news that Antonella is doing okay. I really do like watching her on the q. I am not sure if I like her blonde hair or not. I wonder why she decided to dye her hair. She looked really good with the dark hair.
I am glad that you got your temptations and you really like it. The harvest pattern is so pretty. Do you collect the Halloween designs at all? I know that Adele does and she has a lot of them. She collects a lot of the temptations.
We are going to look for an island that will roll. That way I may be able to push it up against the wall when we are not using the counter top. It will be good to keep the storage space that I need.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Sue,
You sound just like me I too can have fresh corn and tomatoes for dinner. It’s the best. This is my favorite time of year too for eating. We usually just grill chicken or meat for dinner and add fresh veggies right from the garden. This year we may actually get melons from the garden too as they are doing well. We have tried to grow them for many years to no avail-so who knows why they are growing this year. I hope we get some and they are good.
I know what you mean about doing so much more in earlier years and not feeling tired. It just sort of creeps up on you and all of a sudden things that never used to bother you make you tired.
I always remember that the day before Jenny was born I cleaned the whole house-cooked dinner-put Brent in the stroller and went for a long walk through the neighborhood and then went into labor the next morning. Now I couldn’t do 1/10 of all those things! Ah! Youth is definitely wasted on the young.
Gail -
DD,
Ha! Instead of a Jack in the Box-you have a cat in a box! lol How cute is that.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I wouldn’t be able to do one of those portable islands as it would not be big enough. My island is like having two large lower cabinets and has a lot of things in it.
I forgot what they do at the ninja place. I will have to ask Jenny again. We won’t go to that as who wants to be in a place with a bunch of screaming sweaty nine year old boys? lol We will celebrate with him on Friday night. Jenny no longer really has family parties for the kids as I think she feels awkward having Adam’s parents over for those things. So they kind of celebrate with each side of the family separately.
Thank you for the continued prayers for Greg. He hasn’t been back to see the cardiologist yet. He had an appointment this week but it was changed to two weeks from now.
This has been a nice summer weather wise. We have had none of those nights where the temps stay high-it has cooled down nicely in the evenings. I wish all summers could be like this.
Gail -
Oh Colleen,
I thought I heard Antonella say that she dyed her hair blonde to cover the gray. Maybe the dark dye did not cover it well enough. It is hard to get used to her as a blonde. At first I thought it didn’t suit her but now I am getting used to it and liking it more.
Gail -
Hi Gail,
It may be too small for my things but will have to see. My island was not that long but it did have a lot of storage space. We just have too much junk to store. It is just little appliances that I use maybe not all the time but I use them.
We had storms here last night and it split a tree and it fell on Ron’s truck. At least it fell on the hood of the truck and not the cab. It did some damagebut not sure how much. We will get an estimate to see what it will cost. There were limbs down all over the place. It blew all of the floats out of the pool. We had to look all over the yard to find them. We were lucky they did not blow into the woods.
It is sad when they stop having the family parties. There are so many things that change when they seperate from their husbands. Nothing is ever the same. We are going to go and watch Owen race on Saturday. My brother and his wife are going also. So we should have a great time. Owen is excited that we are all going to see him race.
It has been really hot and humid here. I am ready for fall. I like the cold weather better though this hot weather is miserable. We have had a lot and it has not cooled down at night. We have had the air conditioner going constantly. Our electric bills have been high.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
Wow! That must have been a bad storm. They said on the news this morning that there were storms last night but I never heard where they were. I hope you can easily get Ron’s truck fixed. We are lucky that we have a garage to store the cars and there’s room in the barn for the pickup.
I hope that you can find just the island that you need. I’m sure the perfect one is out there somewhere.
What kind of race is Owen going to be in on Saturday?
Can you believe our kids go back to school tomorrow? That’s way too early.
What color carpet do you think you want. When we replace our carpets I think I want to go with something in a gray as that is pretty neutral and should go with everything. We really need to replace ours too as it is getting old. Plus we need to get our wood floors in the kitchen redone. It’s just such a big messy project. Someday we will just have to bite the bullet and do it.

GREAT NEWS!! Just got back from the doctor & the mass was not cancer. Everything is normal. The prayers worked. Thanks so much.
Now pray that I can find an inexpensive car. I may have found one but need to find a ride in to look at it as the breaks went out on my car & no use putting money into it when it won’t pass inspection anyway. They will check out my breaks next week but I won’t put a lot into it. I told him to call before he does anything. I really need a car as I had to have my neighbors take me to the doctor today.
-
Hey Gailster
Well, that is great news that the tests have come out good for Greg. I wonder if diverticulitis does not show if there’s no an active infection?? I am not sure about that one. I know it shows with a colonoscopy, either way. I hope he does not have it, as it gets worst as time goes on, and then you need surgery to remove the diseased piece. Stress is a huge cause of it, no matter what you do or do not eat.
I was totally embarrassed yesterday. You have no idea how many boxes were delivered- Temptations, Halloween from the Friday night show, and Quacker for Tillie, and other Macy’s for Tillie….LOL
So, I had Frankie help me get all the boxes emptied, and put all the stuff at the end of the kitchen….LOL I took a pic and will attach it.
I will also attach a couple of turkey pics from last night. My neighbor called to tell me I was “being invaded by turkeys”. There were 4 of them. It is too funny around here- bunnies, turkeys, coyotes, chipmunks, and squirrels. (let’s not speak of the rats a neighbor has been dealing with under their addition) Oh, and Bobby said we have vole’s making nests under the wisteria bush. Too funny!
I did not realize a butterfly has such a short life span. That is sad.
Hope you are all good, and your weather too.
Adele -
Hi Sue
So glad you are feeling better and out and about. That sounds like a great dinner to me. Fresh fruit and veggies are so good.
Here is something you can do with your tomatoes. Slice them, then add a layer of basil leaves, then slice fresh mozzarella balls, and add to top. ( you can also add some very thinly sliced prosciutto, if you like) Drizzle with a little balsamic dressing, and you have a great salad with tons of protein.
It is cooler up here today, and less humidity. Hope your area is better too.
Have you heard anything from your doctor? I am still praying for all good news.
Wishing all good news for you!!
Adele -
Hey DD
Love the funny owl pic, and, of course, your kitty.
We seem to be getting more Fall weather too. Even Dunkin Donuts had the Fall coffee flavors being advertised already. Even the tree we planted last year when the birch went down has the leaves changing colors already- too early!!
Please read the posts to Gail and Sue for any other info, as i am trying to catch up….LOL
I hope your weather doe snot get too cool, after all, it is still summer.
Adele -
Hey DD and Sue
I agree with DD, and forgot to comment on that one. None if us can do what we used to do,and even the smallest thing becomes a huge task. When I cook, I prepare the veggies and potatoes in the early afternoon, as I can’t stand at the sink that long to do everything. Last night, after I coated the chicken for dinner, and then had to disinfect the sink form any chicken juice, I was huffing and puffing, and breathing hard, from the back pain when I sat down. I looked like I ran a marathon. It was pretty pitiful. Tillie got nervous, and I told her that is just the way it is- not to worry.
I think we all become prisoners to our physical needs as we age. The golden years are not so golden after all….LOL I look at it this way- as long as we can still get done what we have to, in whatever way we have to do it, that is ok.
DD- i am glad you love your bakers. Your kitty has such a good time with all the boxes. I remember my cats even loved the paper grocery bags to play in.
Hope your day is good!
Adele -
Hey Colleen
I hope you find a movable island you like, That sounds like a great solution, so it is not in the way when you do not need to use it.
Finding the right carpet is a big job. You need something easy to clean, that hides the dirt, wears well, and feels good too. Do you know what color you want? I hope you can i find it before Thanksgiving.
I wonder too if it is because we have so much going on, that my belly is going a little nuts. the doctor said that med should be taken with food. But, that messes up my morning routine. I get up, take my meds, and lay back down until the arthritis med kicks in, so I can move easy. So, I took it later this morning, and the shoulder still hurts. It did not take the ache away fro the shoulder by taking it later. I will try again tomorrow but, if it does not work that way, no sense is torturing myself. The other thing she said was to stop taking it for 2 weeks, and let her know if the symptoms go away. Seriously? A whole bunch of new issues will come up that way….LOL We shall see.
How has Ron been doing? Did the house sell yet? I hope so, so you do not have to worry any more about it.
hope you are having a good day….oh…who did you like in AGT last night? My favorite was the singers who are in the service, and the 3 guys who do the acrobatic strength act.
Adele -
Colleen and Gail
I know why Antonella did her hair blonde. That is why I went grey. My hair is very dark, and just one week after a dye, I looked like I had no hair. the grey started to show, and it looked like no hair on the scalp. I looked like a witch for 5 out of the 6 weeks it was dyed. I tried lighter, but that did not work. I felt I just did not have the personality for the blonde thing. I hated my hair lighter. (Now, look, I am white…..LOL ) So, I gave up, and went grey.

Colleen
Since the tree did damage, the insurance company will pay to have it removed for you. I learned that when my trees fell. If the wall did not get damaged, I was on my own with the tree removals. Your house insurance should pay for the car, I think.
i also hate when the family parties get disrupted.
Adele -
Sue
That is fabulous news. I am so glad you are ok. Prayers work.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YAHOO…..OUR SISTER SUE IS HEALTHY AND FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I declare today a Good News Health Day. Go Sue.
Now, we pray for the best deal on a new car, or your car to be repaired with a very little amount of monies, or effort. If you have to get one, what would you get? I have read, time and time again, a Subaru Forester is the best car for an older person.
Did you see AGT last night? Who was your favorite? Mine was the 3 brothers who did acrobatics, and the military singers.Gail and Colleen……I can’t believe your kids will be in school already! Wow.
Hope everyone has a good time at their grands’ birthdays.
Adele -
Hey girls!
Barbara messaged me on Facebook, and wants everyone to know she is having a great time with little Colin. She said she has lots to tell us, and that is wonderful news.
So, today is a great news day- health for Sue, and family for Barbara. Yahoo!!
Love you guys!
Adele -
Sue,
That is such great news from the doctor-I’ll bet you are greatly relieved.
I hope you can find a suitable car that is dependable and not too expensive.
Gail -
Colleen,
Check out the website Birch Lane for islands. I got an email yesterday saying they were having a sale and I looked briefly at the islands that they were offering and it looked like they had some nice ones-many of them portable. Just a thought.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I wondered about the diverticulitis too. She didn’t even want to see him to do more tests-so we are kind of scratching our head over that one. However, it wasn’t our regular GP it was the doctor that fitted hm in at the last minute so I think next time he sees our regular doctor he should at least mention it.
Haha- I know how you feel-every once in a while I get a whole load of boxes too-it doesn’t embarrass me though as there is no one to see it anyway except the UPS driver. lol You got some really cute things. The thing I got was different as it’s made of wood.
If four turkeys are an infestation I wonder what the groups of 20 turkeys that we get are? lol They are all over the place out here.
I was surprised that the little girl that they brought back got through last night. She’s not very good. I like the young boy who loves musical theater. Of course I would. lol
I’m glad to hear that Barbara is having fun with Colin.
I can’t believe that the kids are back to school today either. I bet they’d give up those two weeks in the cold at Christmas for two more weeks of summer.
Now you’ve piqued my curiosity. Why do they recommend a Subaru Forester for older people?
Gail -
Hey Gailster!
I guess your turkeys would be an invasion….LOL
I read that in the Consumer Reports magazine. Due to the safety features, and ease to get in and out of. I actually looked into one, as the lease is up next year. But, a new one would end up costing more than purchasing our Jeep, so we are on the fence about it.
I was also surprised by the save last night. My favorites made it through. I forgot to mention the autistic young man- he was also a favorite of mine.
Tillie has come up to dinner 3 nights in a row! I have begun to cook hot meals again, as it has been cooler. I hope it stays this way. But, they have said the heat and humidity may come back on Sunday-yuck.
I really went a little nuts last Friday night. It was retail therapy….LOL Gary and Heather were watching TV in the other room, and they were yelling at me. Heather kept saying…she is about to spend 500.00 dollars!! Gary was freaking out, and it was pretty funny.
Hope your day is going well!

Hi Adele,
My girlfriend got a Subaru last Christmas-not sure if it a Forester or not but I think it might be. I rode in it when we were up north and it’s a very very nice car.
Am anxious to hear about the first two days of school tonight from the kids. Kendall is in junior high and has to have a combination lock on her locker and change clothes for gym so it should be a big change for her. Don’t know if she’ll talk much about it as she is the quiet one. That’s why I’m glad I’m finally reading the Harry Potter series as she likes to talk to me about the books.
You hadn’t said much about Tillie lately so I didn’t know she hadn’t been coming up. I’m glad she’s still feeling good. She must be if you’ve been ordering from Macy’s and Quacker for her.
We have nice weather. Not much humidity lately and cooler at night. You have more humidity because you live close to that big giant bathtub of the Atlantic. lol I guess there’s some perks to living in “fly over country.”
Gail -
Hey Gailster!
Well, Miss Tillie has had her ups and downs again- all due to her sleeping. She will have a night she says she did not sleep, and then sleep most of the day. Then, she gets her days and nights mixed up again, and it is days until she is up in the morning again. That makes me nuts, as she misses everything that happens. I can’t tell you how much I hate it when she does that. So, when I call her, she will say….leave me alone, I need my sleep. So, I become the “elderly harasser” until I get her back on schedule again. LOL
So, this week, she came up every night I cooked, and even yesterday afternoon, when Heather and JJ stopped by, and had Mc Donalds with us before she went back down. She was planning on coming up for our visit with Al and Joanne tonight, but, Al does not feel good after his dialysis, so they will come for dinner on Tuesday instead. Thank God they called in time, as the sausages were just taken out of the freezer, so I was able to put them back. It would be such a waste to cook 12 sausages and 6 peppers for 3 people….LOL
I hope Kendall likes middle school- that’s what we call it up here. JJ loved it last year. He enjoyed having different teachers for different subjects. He is looking forward to starting school again. he was moody yesterday- that teenage cranky thing. I find it amusing. His parents do not.
So, does your friend like her Subaru? Is it an SUV? Still keeping my options open for next year…LOL
Weather here very humid again, but not as hot. It will get to the 90’s again on Sunday, and the dam humidity stays. So gross!
How is cutie Piper doing?? How does Greg feel? Hope all is good out there.
Have a good day!

Hi Adele,
I like your decorations they are really cute. I do not have any new fall decorations. I do not know what all that I have right now either. It will interesting to see what all I have. I do not remember what all I got from my mom. This is such a mess around here.
Well I finally found the carpet I want. The color is twilight and it is really pretty. It has blues, grey’s and specks of brown in it. It is just really pretty and I am so glad that I finally found it. We got the scotch guard padding which I insisted on. It is nice that it will block all the spills from getting on the floor.
That is hard when you keep getting sick to your stomach. It could be nerves from worry about the surgery and going to the doctor. There are so many things that can cause you to bave a nervous stomach.
I am sorry that Tillie is going back to the way she was. Maybe she will snap out of this. It is nice that she came upstairs as much as she has to eat with the family. I will continue to pray for her.
Ron is doing fine. The house has not sold yet it is not on the market. I do not know what my brother is waiting for. He is having a hard time with this. He was the one that was there helping mom when she had the house built. So I guess that it is hard to give up.
I have not looked for the island yet we have so much going on here. It will be nice when we get the house finished. We do have most of the stuff put back where it belongs.
Ron removed the tree. I am not sure that the adjuster was happy about it but that is what the agent told us to do. Ron had the chain saw and all that we needed to remove the tree. He did take pictures of it though. So we will see what happens.
That is funny that you have turkey’s in your yard. Gail really has a lot of them also. We have them around but they usually do not come in our yard because of the dogs. We do not get the deer in our yard as often because of the dogs.
I have red high lights in my hair. I just had that done so it would give my hair body. It seems like the older we get the less body we have in our hair. Antonella is such a nice person and funny. She looks good with the blonde hair it just takes some getting use to. I have heard that the darker your hair is the more grey you have and it starts earlier.
Well that is about all from here. This is starting to look like a book. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
We have not looked for islands yet. We did find the carpet that we wanted though. I wrote all about it in my post to Adele. Thank-you for the name of that place to look at islands. I hve not got on the site yet but will after I get off here.
Kendall is so shy. Is she doing ok at school? I know that before she use to get sick all of the time. I hope that is does not happen to her again like it did when she was a little younger.
How are Greg and Brent doing? I hope that both of them are doing a lot better then they were. It just seems like so many people are getting sick and thy do not know what is going with them.
Owen races go carts. They have motors on them. He has been doing really good. I hope he does Saturday while we are there. He really does love racing and it is something he can do with his dad. His dad was racing something but stopped I guess it is expensive to race like that.
It is hard to believe that the kids are in school. They start earlier every year. It does not seem like that they get out any earlier though. I wonder if they are trying to make the school year round in all the states. I do not think that I would like that and am glad that we do not have any kids in school any more.
Our weather has been hot and humid here. It has been nice though we can get into the pool. We have not been in it as much as we had been since we got home from vacation. We have been busy trying to get things done.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
I am gad you picked out your carpet. Now it will be done before the holidays, and you will be so happy with all new floors. congrats on finally getting everything you wanted done- go Colleen!
Tillie is out of her night and day mix up funk. Thank God. She came up more this week, and even watched all of AGT. I hope she does not have another bad night, that sets off the sleep all day thing for a long, long time.
We didn’t have company last night. Al was feeling sick from the dialysis, so they did not come. They will come on Tuesday night. That was ok, as it was early enough to get the meat back in the freezer, as it had not been out long enough to defrost.
Your hair color sound very nice- get the kids to take a pic, so we can see it!
That’s awful about the tree and Ron. The insurance companies like to do their own assessments. So good that you took the pics, as pics tell the story.
I spoke to my arthritis doctor about the new meds, and whether or not it was bothering me. So she had me stop the new one, and I feel a lot better since I stopped taking it. Although it worked on my arthritis, I think I was allergic to it. So, I started to take the Indomethacine I have for bad days. Well,it worked and I feel fine, so I am going to ask if I can take that instead of the Celebrex. We shall see….LOL
I hope your brother gets the house listed quickly, as everyone says summer is the best time to sell.
The boys are coming for a sleep over tonight with their grandmother, Heather. Heather turns 47 tomorrow. We are going to have her party next weekend, because we have the boys this weekend. I will turn the Halloween decorations on tonight. Gary thinks Aizen will be scared of them- I hope not! i thought if he helps me get them lit, he would not be scared. They don;t make noise, so I hope we are ok…..LOL
The boys and Heather should be here shortly, so I better go……
Have a good weekend!

Well that did not work so guess I can’t send a photo.
-
It’s not as easy as it used to be to post photos here. I also wish we could cut and paste.
-
HI Colleen,
I like the way your carpet sounds. It sounds like something that I would pick myself. Our carpet here was originally blue with flecks of color but over time even with lots of shampooing it has kind of faded out.
I wonder what the insurance agent would have said to do if the tree fell on the car of someone who was not able of getting the tree cut themselves. Our insurance company dropped us after the barn was robbed last year as we had also had claims when the basement flooded and for new shingles on the roof after a storm. Greg called them and reminded them of all the other business that they would be losing from our cars and our other buildings so they decided to reinstate us but with a higher deductible for the house. The local agent didn’t even know that their corporate office had done that.
Kendall has actually done better in school the last couple of years-so I hope she has grown out of that intense anxiety. Now she’s bugging her Mom to read the Harry Potter books since I am reading them and her aunt Kelly is reading them aloud to her two younger kids. I feel bad for Jenny as she likes to read but as a working mom has little time to do it and I know a series of seven long books about wizards is not her first choice. She would rather read thrillers and family stories. I hope Kendall stops bugging her about it. lol Speaking of books I believe there is a new Patrick Taylor coming in November. In the back of my head I thought I saw that somewhere. I still have only read three of the books in that series-I know that you have read them all.
Greg and Brent are doing good. Thank you for asking.
I hope that Owen wins his go cart race. I think he is the same age as Kendall. Aren’t they growing up fast?!
Has Ron gotten in that pool yet? Hurry up Ron-time is a wasting! lol
Gail -
Oh Colleen,
The Ninja place is a gymnastics school but they have stuff like they do on American Ninja Warrior too-and ball pits and trampolines and rock walls so it’s a place where you can take the kids and let them run off their energy. Jenny actually stopped by as the AC in her car is out so she is using one of Greg’s cars as she didn’t want all those hot sweaty kids in her car without AC. The place where she is getting it fixed can’t get her in until next week and when she goes there she will get a loaner. -
Adele,
Heads up. The Temptations towel and hot pad sets were in new arrivals on the Q this morning. So I imagine they will be on ITKWD today.
I guess I will have to report you for elderly harassment. lol Now I am actually wonder if there is a real place to report that like there would be for child abuse? It does seem like the elderly do have trouble getting nights and days mixed up. My MIL would sometimes get up in the middle of the night and come out and sit in her chair and think it was morning-even though it was still pitch dark out. I wonder why that was. Maybe with her dementia she no longer associated dark with night or light with day. When she lived with us I still had those ears that were attuned for listening to teenagers so even though we slept upstairs and she slept downstairs I would usually wake up if she did that and come down and tell her it wasn’t morning yet and she needed to go back to bed to get her rest.
So in our town the schools are configured mostly according to space. We have a school for K thru 3, a middle school for 4 and 5 and junior high for 6,7, and 8-and then high school. So do you have a junior high at all? What grade number is JJ in 7th? There is also a preschool for those kids who tested as needing extra help. I can’t remember which kid it was but there was such a lack of space that one of our kids went to kindergarten in the junior high building-I can’t remember if that was Brent or Jenny but it was very weird as they had them separated so they wouldn’t have to mingle with the older kids. I’ll have to ask them to see which kid it was.
Yes, those moody teen age years are approaching. Of course you find it amusing now but I’ll bet when Bobby and Heather were teens it wasn’t so amusing. I found the girl more difficult than the boy. But I remember how at times it felt like my kids would never like me again-it seems like the mother takes most of the teenage abuse. lol Now we have the teens abusing the parents. It’s nice when they get to be older and realize that you are actually smarter than they thought you were when they were teens and you can become friends and they actually ask for your advice. But parenting teens can be pretty lonely territory and you have to have plenty of self esteem because they can make you feel bad about yourself. lol
My friend Loves her Subaru-it is an SUV and I can still get in it with no trouble. It’s a very nice car.
Gail -
Hey Sue……I thought I was doing something wrong until I saw the next post….LOL
Best wishes with your new car- what is it? We can google the model and get an idea.
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
Yes, in Mass. we have a Hot Line for Elder Abuse. Not sure who would get reported, me or Tillie? LOL LOL I am sure you have it too, as elders are at risk from caregivers, especially when they have dementia. Speaking of that, Tillie freaked us out last night. When I gave her the chicken chow mein last night, she said…..”this is delicious, you never gave me this before.” She has it every week, as we do Chinese once a week. Heather told her how concerned this remark made her, and she got mad. Then the prior day she tells me I made an error paying her Q bill. She told me to pay 200 more than she usually pays, which I did, after asking her if she was sure, as she usually does not pay that much. She continued to say I made an error. So, I think next time, I will just pay what she always pays. We are all getting a little nervous, and will be watching her more carefully.Thank you for the heads up. But, I went on the Q early and looked at Temptations, to see if they were there yet, and they were- ordered them so fast my fingers were flying, so I would not lose out again…..LOL I got pumpkin and boo fetti, of course!
Then, I decided to search Quacker, and found they finally listed the red button front cardigan with the apple son it. Last year I got the 2 colors they had- the blue and green, and wore them all winter long over my tank tops. So, I called Tillie to see if she wanted it too, and, of course, she did. So, ordered her one. Then, I went back in and they listed a black one for Halloween. My fingers nearly broke, I hit those buttons so fast. Got the black one for Tillie too, or there would have been more angry words coming my way….LOL
Our schools are done and called differently. We have K-5 for Elementary School, 6-8 for Middle School, and then 9-12 for High School. They stopped calling Middle School Junior High generations ago. JJ will be in 7th grade this year. Can you imagine?? Aizen starts Kindergarten. he is still syaing he is not going….LOL
Oh yes, teenagers were not so funny back in the day. But, I have to admit, I laughed a lit behind their backs. So,one day when things were not going well, I get a call form my mother, who says…..”Remember when I always told you that I wish you will have kids who are worst than you? Well, I did not mean it to get this bad.” I honestly do not remember what was happening, but, I remember my mother’s call to me.
Another day, when I was the grandmother, Heather called me crying, and said she was so sorry for everything she did to me.
So, how funny is that? My mother and daughter apologizing for teen years??? I think they were trying to buy their way into heaven….LOL LOL
I hope Greg is feeling good. Brent too. Also hope Jenny gets a chance to read a book- saw that in post to Colleen.
Today is Heather’s birthday. She spent the night with the boys, and Marissa and her MIL picked them all up to go to a farm for the Peach Festival. They will be back and then go in the pool. the party is next week, as we will also do Enzo’s birthday with hers….fun, fun, fun!!

Gail Thanks for trying. I thought maybe you were more expert at it than me. I wonder if it is because the photo is off the dealers website. Mine said could not be posted for security reasons. I know we use to be able to edit. This site has not always improved for the better.

Hi Ladies,
Well, it was another lazy weekend. It was overcast & cool all day Sat., but the clouds burned off early today & had a lovely afternoon. It was down right cold this morning! I was thisclose to turning up the heat, but didn’t. We’re in for another mini heatwave for a couple days, then back to clouds & possible rain mid week.
Sue, PRAISE THE LORD, your tests came out negative. Such wonderful news!!! I’m so happy for you. I know how worried & scared you were. As for the car, I’ve heard Subaru’s are one if not the safest cars on the road. I wanted one yrs ago but they were too expensive for my budget. The one I wanted was more like a station wagon than an SUV. And as for the pic, I’ve had that happen to my pics on several occasions! I don’t know if it shows up when you get my posts, but once in a while it comes up ERROR.., meaning the pic couldn’t go through for whatever reason. Usually it’s the size & it wouldn’t fit. I tried to send a short video of snowball a few days ago & it wouldn’t go through. I guess this site is pretty finicky as far as photos/videos are concerned. In my experience with taking care of the elderly, they call it ‘sundowners syndrome’ when they get their days & nights mixed up/turned around. I had one lady want to go to confession at 3 AM in the morning. I said absolutely not. I wasn’t about to take her out that time of day for anything.
Adele, I love your halloween decor. Like I told ya I wanted those dishtowels, mitts in Pumpkin Patch, but by the time I can afford it, they’ll be gone. But, there will be Christmas patterns coming soon.
That salad you described sounds delish!!
Colleen, I’m glad you found the rug you liked. I thought a neutral tweed would be the best idea. Now for the island. I prefer one with white sandy beaches, & beautiful waters. Ohh that’s the wrong kind of island. lol
Did any of you see on the news the eagle in a lake that was fighting to stay afloat? a fisherman recorded it & turned out the eagle was trying to get a big Huskie fish to the shore. It wasn’t giving up till he got it to the shore. It was one really big fish!!!
Well, that’s all for today.
Have a great week & stay safe!!
dd
PS: Those turkeys sound like several T’giving or Christmas dinners. sorry, I couldn’t resist. I believe there’s a town that was completely taken over by wild turkeys. -
Hi Adele,
II am sorry that Tillie is having that problem. That is scary that she is forgetting things. I wonder if it is partly because she is not sleeping right. She may need to see the doctor again and find out what he thinks. I will be praying for her and you it is hard to go thru that.
I know that sometimes that dialysis can be really rough. I just pray that I never have that problem. It comes along with diabetes it affects your kidney’s. There are so many things that it effects and it is hard to keep track of.
You are really having trouble with medicine. I hope that they figure it all out and they find the medicine that will work you. It is hard to find the right thing to take.
I hope that you had a good time with the grands. It is so much fun when they come to visit. We are supposed to have Aliza for a couple of nights so she can play in the pool until she is tired of it. It will not be too long and it will be time to close the pool down for the year. I am not looking forward to it. It is hard to close it down for the year and not be able to swim for a long time. We have to get a new ladder for our pool It is hard to climb up and down it and I almost fall every time that I go up or down it.
Our schools are like the schools that Gail’s grands go to. They had to divide the classes up and the schools that had all the elementary age kids were changed. One school just took the different age groups. The parents had to drive the kids all over town to the different schools. It was not fun because I had to take the grands to school a few times.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Owen came in first place in the race. It was so much fun watching him. I cannot believe how fast those go carts go and how loud it is. At the end of all the races they get awards and they stand on a podium just like in the Olympics. The kids who were in first, second and third stand on it and get their trophies. It really makes it so exciting for the kids.
That is so good that Kendall is doing better about her. The Harry Potter series are really good books. You will enjo reading them especially if Kendall is reading them with you. You can both talk about them and see what she thinks. I got to do that with my grands and it was fun and interesting.
We turned this into our car insurance instead of the home owners . Ron does not like to turn anything into our home owners. Why I do not know we have paid for it for years. I bet your agent was upset when they threatened you with cancellation. you are really good clients.
I think that I missed one of the books he wrote. I need to get caught up and see if I missed any. It is such a good series and I have enjoyed every one of the books. I think that you will also.
I hope that we like the carpet once they put in down. They say that if we do not like it after they put it in we can send it back. I can just see us taking it up to return it. Since they are not the ones putting it in they may not come and get it themselves. lol
Well that is about all from here. It has been really boring around here today. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hey DD
I can’t believe you are ready tot urn on the heat, and we are over 90 today, with high humidity. gross!! I would rather be you, than us.Thank you for the nice comments on my crazy Halloween fetish. I am so bad with Halloween! It is becoming an obsession….LOL LOL
Do the elderly sundown, without having Alzheimer’s? Or is that possible when a little dimetia kicks in?? I can’t tell you how upset that made Heather. She does not want to realize her grandmother may be gone some day.
The Temptations towels were the only exciting thing
I have not seen that news clip. Sometimes it takes days for that to be on our news. I hope they pick it up, as it sounds amazing.
I feel like making a movie….The Turkeys are Coming, the Trukeys are Coming…..LOL
I love the llama picture is adorable. that turkey is bigger than the ones we have around here.
Hope your weather stay nice and cool, but not cold enough for the heat.
So thrilled about Sue’s news, and hoping we hear from BArbara soon….
Adele -
Hey Colleen!
We got a set of actual stairs to get into the pool. They were a little pricey, but, it is safety that is important. At the end of the season, everything is on sale. Google stairs for above ground pools, and see where it comes up the cheapest. Hope this helps.Thank you about Tillie. It is so crazy having to always wonder what is up with my Mom. She hates to go to the doctor, and we can only get her there once a year for her annual. But, her doctor is good about answering questions, so if this continues, I will call him. I guess I am hoping this was an isolate incident.
I sincerely hope you never have to go through what Al goes through. your diabetes is under control, and you listen to your doctor. Al did not. he ate what he wanted, most of the time.
I hope to get some answers today form my doctor- keep your fingers crossed….LOL
Hope your day goes well, and you have fin with Aliza. I am exhausted form the weekend….LOL.
Adele -
Hi DD,
I looked that video up and it was a funny coincidence. I just got a picture this morning from my SIL who is vacationing along that same river. some of the family members are staying at an air b and b that my BIL and nephew own which sits on that river.
I saw on the news that there was some sort of dueling protests in Portland but didn’t really understand what that was all about.
Greg has video of two of our male turkeys with their tails wide open like that trying to impress a female in our back yard. They were strutting all around and she was basically ignoring them. It was funny. lol She wasn’t impressed. lol Maybe she was holding out for a turkey with a bigger car or a better job. lol
Gail -
Colleen,
Good for Owen. He must have been very excited. What kind of a place do they race at? Is it a big circle or a straight line race.
I remember some of the kids around us used to have go carts and they were very loud.
I’ll bet you will love your carpet once you get it in.
I’ll bet you will be glad once this is all done and everything is back in place.
It will be nice to get that all done before the holidays.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I swear your house is the party house. It seems like every other week there is a celebration of some sort. lol Now we know who our party girl is! lol
You know if Tillie is starting to have some problems there are some meds that can help. My MIL took a drug that helped slow the progress of dementia and I think it really helped. In the meantime just keep an eye out. I found if my MIL did make some mistakes in remembering things it was best just not to make a big deal out of it-because if they don’t remember it will just upset them if people are trying to insist on making them. it’s not that important in the big scheme of things. What’s most important is that they are comfortable and happy.
I always thought that Sundowners syndrome was when dementia patients become more agitated in the waning hours of the day-I didn’t know it was a name for getting days and nights mixed up. Maybe it would help if you could keep her from napping too much during the day so that she is tired at night. What time would she normally go to bed? It’s good to hear that she still loves her Quacker. She looks so cute when you post pictures of her wearing it.
So what happens at the Peach Festival? Did anyone bring home any peaches. Or better yet peach pie! My favorite besides strawberry pie-both of which are hard to find-and not strawberry rhubarb-just pain strawberry-the rhubarb ruins it!
Gail -
So Sue,
What do you know about chipped ham? I just heard about-I hear it is a western Penn. thing but maybe you know about it in central Penn too.
What exactly is it and what do you do with it?
Gail -
I’m BACK…….So glad to be stopping in to chat, have missed so much. We are good. I have to honestly say that we have had so much fun with our little fellow that we both just sit and reminence and look at videos and pictures made while he was here. We played so many games together; pretending to be a choo choo, hide and seek, made a necklace from a cord we fed through macaronni, you know all the silly fun let’s be 3 games. When he would begin to get tired he would crawl up in Jerrys lap and Jerry would turn on The Lion King and start rocking and off he would go and just sleep so soundly. I made one picture of him and Jerry both sound asleep in the chair. lol I thank God for all the time we had with him. Sarah was her usual self; but we just let her do her thing and didn’t respond with anything but positive things. Jerry offered to help her drive back or check her tires or oil; but she said no. They left Saturday; but honestly, we have been so exhausted that we have barely been able to move. We had our doctors appt. this afternoon, and went there, and Jerry refused to tell about his shoulder, but I am going to keep an eye on him. Since it stopped raining it is better.
Can’t even begin to say how happy I am that your doctors report was good, Sue. Thank God. I know you are so very very relieved. Happy about your new vehicle too. Isn’t it something how getting good news about our health just gives us a new lease on life and bring us a smile? That is just wonderful.
Congrats to Owen on his win Colleen! He must have been so excited. He really must be a good driver. Gosh everyones grands are really growing up fast. What are little Piper and Aliza up to these days? Hope Aizen decides he likes kindergarten Adelle. I cried when ours went off after they left for the day. I really missed them and their sweet little antics. Yes the teen years can really be a challenge. They seem to work at trying to make us feel like we don’t know anything. How sweet when they come back and let you know later how sorry they were for things said or done.
Adele, have you scheduled your surgery? If so, will you have the belly band or the gastric bypass? I know you will madke theright decision. Prayers coming your way for you all and Miss Tillie. Love how she looks in her Quacker.
Better close, getting tired. Take care everyone. Thanks for the cute pics DD. Glad you and kitty are doing well. Barb -

Gail, I don’t know if this is what you mean but if you go to the deli for ham lunchmeat you can get it sliced or chipped. Sliced are nice even slices & chipped is very thin & comes out in a pile. So you just pile the amount you want on your sandwich. With it being so thin when its chipped it seems like more. So if it is something other than this I don’t know about it.
I gave my neighbors chicken corn soup I made yesterday. She said I am having that for lunch. I was a bit worried as we had a big storm go through last night & were without electricity for 3 hours. I was afraid it spoiled so I told her if it was not good to toss it but I had some today & it was still good so I guess it stayed cool enough.
I have been cleaning out my car. I try to bring some more in whenever I go out. I still have the glovebox & trunk to go. He is going to call me in the morning so things are moving along. He may tell me I can pick it up tomorrow will have to wait & see. -
Hi Sue,
Yes, I think that’s what they were talking about with the ham. I’m not sure why anyone would want it all chopped up. It seems like slices would be easier to put on a sandwich.
Did you make the soup with the fresh corn? I’ll bet it was delicious!
It’s always kind of exciting getting a new car. I hope yours will stay reliable for a long time. It kind of looks like a little SUV-have you had an SUV before. I think me and my SIL are the only two people in America who still drive a sedan-and hers is even a coupe.
Gail -
Hi Barbara,
I am so glad to hear that you had so much fun with Colin. They are fun but exhausting too. I am always amazed when I hear about grandparents in their 70’s actually raising their grandkids. They must have lots of energy. Glad that you just let Sarah’s “stuff” slide off your backs. It just seems to be one of those things that you cannot change so you have to change the way you handle it. Wise words from our Jeanne Bice.
Good health news does give us a new lease on life. I learned that myself recently.
I always would get tears in my eyes too putting our kids on the bus for the first day of school. Then I would go inside and have myself a good cry in private.
Jenny has each kid pose with a chalk board each year saying what the date is and what grade they are starting and she takes a picture. Then she does the same thing on the last day of school each year. For Christmas each year she makes us a calendar with the months and pictures of the kids for each month. I just love getting those and I save each one as they are like our own little private scrapbooks for each year. And like little diaries as trips and birthdays are marked on the calendar.

Gail I don’t know if they sell ham sandwiches for fundraisers in your area but they do here & use the chipped ham for those. I think it stretches the ham further. As in you can get more sandwiches out of them per pound. I like slices better but can eat either. My tummy don’t care. It use to be they sold more chipped then sliced. Seems more slices anymore.
-
Hey Colleen
I think you put the wrong name on the post- sounded like it was for Gail, not me….LOL
Adele -
Hey Gailster
that is good advice not to make a big deal out of it. Heather was very freaked out. I was just shocked, and said…Ma, we eat this every week. Maybe I should not say anything at all. We will be keeping an even closer eye on her.
Oh yes, birthday parties are every month accept November. We have 14 birthdays, soon to be 15…..LOL there are 2 in Jan, 2 in Sept, 2 in Aug, and soon there will be 3 in Jan.
This is the first Peach Festival they went to. because it was so hot and humid, they did not stay long. All they did was pick peaches, go to the gift store, and home. Aizen wanted to see the animals, but Prego Marissa is reported to have had foam coming out of her mouth by then, so they opted to go home. We will take the kids back to the farm in a few weeks, so Aizen can play with the animals. It should be cooler by then.
Tillie has always been a night person. She would stay up late, and sleep late. She never got out of bed before 10:00 am. Now, she watches TV in her recliner, and Bobby says she is napping most of the evening- he sees her when he uses the bathroom. I call her when DWTS or AGT is on, as we get excited about the same performers. She will laugh like crazy at the funny ones, when I call her. Speaking of that- we heard our Gronk is to be on the show, with his girlfriend. Nobody has heard of a girlfriend yet, so this ought to be good!
Have a good night!

Hi Sue
Best of luck with the new car!! So glad you got it,and that you love it.
That is funny about the deli meat. We just say to slice it paper thin up here. Each state has it’s own peculiarities. Up here, if you ask for soda, people look at you funny. We call it tonic.
Your soup sounds very interesting. What a nice thing to do for your neighbors , who helped you get back and forth to the hospital. It is especially kind to give back to people, and I know they must have appreciated all you do for them. You are a good neighbor!!
Hey….AGT is on tonight. Hope the ones I like make it through.
Have a good night.

Colleen
I forgot to say congrats on Owen’s First Prize!! How exciting for him. Also all of you. Did you have a celebration for him? It is so good when the kids win. It is the highlight of their summer. Congrats, congrats, congrats!!Barbara
So good to hear from you. I am thrilled you had so much fun with little Colin. Three year old’s are so much fun. I love when they are tired and snuggle up to sleep.
That was a great plan not to answer your DIL with any negative answers. I bet it did take some extra effort, and lots of smiling.
I have something that may help Jerry. Indomethacine. I had to stop the new arthritis med they gave me, even though it made a difference with my shoulder. they wanted me to stop it for 3 weeks, and then try something else. Not. I would not have been able to walk with no arthritis med in me. So, I used my emergency Indomethacine prescription ( on a really bad night, when I could not sleep, I took one of them to help with the swelling and pain) for the last week, and took it twice a day. low and behold, it did what the new med did, and more. I have hardly any pain from the shoulder (unless I move the wrong way), and no dizziness, nausea, or just not feeling well. Have Jerry see if he can take this med for his arthritis. I hope this can work out for him.
I see the doctor for the surgery next week. I will have an intake to decide if I am a candidate for either surgery. I hear they have a rigorous pre-screening process. That is fine for me, as if I am any risk with the surgery, I would rather not have it. I have a funny feeling my age, or belly may not qualify. I get a lot of diarrhea, form cross contamination with foods I am allergic to, or anything with too much fat in it. there is only one ice cream I can have, and a very small amount of it- Brigham’s. Other ice creams make me sick. So, I am not being too optimistic about me as a candidate. We will see what they say. It can;t hurt to try and see if there is a solution for my swollen legs, and ability to stand. If i weighed less, it could help with mobility. Oh well…….
Hope you have a good night.
AGT is on tonight!!
Adele
PS….of course you are tired. Toddlers are a bundle of energy. -
Gail
that is a great tradition Jenny does with the kids- first and last day o school. A real nifty idea!Sue- what kind of car did you get?? I think I missed the model number.

We slept in until 10 this morning. I was so surprized when I looked at the clock. Jerry and I get tired so easily. What we just did would have been nothing in the past, but now, its a whole different story. THanks so much Adele for the medicine suggestion. I am surely going to look into this. Hope your consultation will be able to answer lots of questions about the surgery. My SIL went to like a months classes and phychological evaluations before hers was done. She was in her 40″s and in good health. She lost so much weight and did fine, but followed all their rules. I am like you I think lots will depend on whether what if any risk for you there would be. I do think they look at each person individually; at least they should since we all present with different needs. Good luck. You will do the right thing. You remind me of me with how you do your cooking in stages. My legs get to aching so badly when I am standing at the stove. I try so hard to do as much cutting up veggies or doing the salad, whatever before I start the main dish. And I love one pot meals. Those are my favorite. I love this time of year too for the fresh veg. and fruit. It is so hot here that it is hard to eat. I love this time of year for the good food. Sue that sounds like so much fun you had. And a yummy meal too. Glad you are feeling so good. How did you make your corn soup? I love potato soup (which we all know is Colleens speciality for her husband) lol I am actually making a veggie soup tomorrow. Just one of those that you throw everything you like in to and have some nice crunchy bread. I am baking some blueberry muffins early tomorrow (my plan anyway) You made me hungry with the corn soup.
Gail, that is a wonderful idea for the calendar. I am going to pass this along to Neal. Did I tell you al that Colin can count to 20 before he turned 3? Mabey that is not anything great, but we think he is a Rhodes Scholar lol He speaks Spanish too.
One of our neighbors has a whole flock of ducks. They are so cute and they just waddle all over their yard. I am so afaid a fox or dog will get to them, but they put them in their little pen at night and they have the cutest little house. We noticed a wild mallard was walking along with them a few days ago; so I guess she has dicided to live with them now. We have wild turkeys here too. One crossed the road in front of me not long ago. We live on the outskirts of a state park and once a few years ago in the Fall Jerry and I were in the part and we saw at least 500 wild turkey come walking out of woods in to an open field in a straight line following one another. It was absolutely amazing, and we just finally had to leave but they were still coming out as we drove away.
Guess I better go for now. Hope everyone takes care and has a good evening. Your home is going to be so pretty Colleen. I know you must be getting really excited watching it all come together. Barb -
Hi DD,
I prefer white sandy beaches also but do not think that it will work in my kitchen. lol After we get done with all of this we need to take a long vacation. We will need it.
Your weather sounds better then ours. It has been really hot here and we are getting a lot of rain again. We had a storm again and it is supposed to rain and storms all week long. Hope we do not have any more trees fall down.
I love that picture of the tree and the full moon. It looks like the tree is holding it up. That guy or gal that took the picture is a good photographer. Wish my pictures were that good.
How is snowball doing? He is such a cute cat and very active. He must be a lot of fun to have around. It is so good that you found him.
Have a great night
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I am going to look that up and see what I find. We really do need regular steps to go into the pool. The ones that come with the pool are not meant for most people. I think that those steps are made for little kids.
I hope that you get some answers that you need. Are you going to talk to a doctor about the surgery? I hope you get all the answers that you need.
Owen was really excited about winning. He is a really good driver. He did run into the wall once but they got him turned around and he still won. That was during the qualifying race. I may just be a proud grandma. We did not get to celebrate with him because he went home with his dad. So we will not get to celebrate with him for two more week-ends. We will do something then.
An elderly person can have sun downers without having Alzhemiers. It is just something that goes along with getting older. Some of the elderly will have it and others won’t.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am so gla that you got to spend time with Colin and had such a good time. You did make the right decision about Sarah. You cannot change so just ignore the weird stuff she does. How did Colin like his birthday cake? I bet he loved it. I can see why you and Jerry slept in so late. Kids at that age are a handful and really keep you busy. I know our grand daughter does that to us. She is coming this week-end and I am not sure that I am ready for this but she is coming.
That is about all from here. Have to read your other posts. Have a good night.
Colleen -
OMG Barbara
You have a whole forest full of animals at your place! Did Colin see any? How did he react to them?
Of course he is the smartest ever- he is yours. The kids today learn a lot form the i pads, etc. They do some good, and it is the way kids learn today- all is on line.
We do cook the same way. My favorite is also the one pot meals. Crock pot living is the best, and I can’t wait to get back to it. If I put it on today, people would think I had lost my mind. It is over 90, and high humidity up here.
I do not want to go through that much testing for the surgery. Every time I go out, it is 2 days of agony with the shoulder. Losing weight will make no difference with that. Like yesterday….I was pretty proud of myself. I got to the doctor for the cortisone shot, ( set of 3 more gel shots to come later) and even made the hairdresser for a trim, which was badly needed. Coming up the stair s was better than before- not too bad on the second set of stairs. I was even thinking this is great, now I can go out a bit more. Oh no- in the middle of the night the pain in the shoulder was back with a vengeance. I took an extra Indomethacine, and tried to get back to sleep. I was moving the bed in all different positions to relieve the pain in the neck and shoulder. So, now it is about 4:00 pm, and most of the pain is gone, unless I move the arm to do something. Hopefully, by tomorrow it will be gone.
So, I guess my idea of going out more has to be evaluated….LOL
I hope you two are all rested up, and back to normal. It takes a few days to rest up, and get your strength back….especially at our ages.
Hope your night goes well, and you are as fit as a fiddle tomorrow!
Adele -
Hey Colleen
That is such good news about Owen. I bet you will bake a cake for the celebration! Go Colleen!
That is good to know that elderly can sundown without having Alzheimer’s. I was getting a little nervous about that. It is so scary to see Tillie decline. I know you have been through this with your mom, and it just sucks.
Speaking of your mom- did your brother get the house listed? I hope he has finally decided to move forward, as it just delays you all to feel it is time to move on, and heal.
I hope you find the steps, and that they will be on sale.
Did you see AGT last night? I am glad the choir made it through. Also the little boy with the fiddle.
Have a good night!
Adele
PS….read the post to Barbara for more news…. -
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. Not a lot going on here. We had rain last night. It’s funny cuz all the weather people were saying it’d be soggy for the AM commute. It didn’t show up till dinner time. Mother Nature has a mind of her own. It’s partly cloudy today & will warm up thru the weekend. By next week we’ll be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Summer’s last blast, I think. Altho we could have summer weather thru Sept.
IT’s been a cooler summer than they expected I think. No triple didget temps this yr. Thank goodness.Barbara, I’m so happy for you. That you got to spend so much time with littlle Colin. I hope it continues!! If someone says something nasty, just consider the source, & let it roll off. Like water off a duck’s back. I know it’s easier said than done esp. when it comes to family. I don’t know anything about it, but I know friends who have/had little ones, & they can wear you out. If we had even a fraction of their energy it would help us alot!!!
Watching nature is so much fun. Except for tornados, etc.Gail,
Those dueling protests have given Portland a black eye. It’s two different far left & far right factions that protest each other. The protests end up in violence. I’m not even sure what it is they’re protesting. In the 70s it was the Vietnam war, but I’m not sure what they’re protesting. Mostly it’s an excuse to do damage to stores, break windows, etc.
Colleen, I’m sorry my idea about the white sandy beaches won’t work for ya, but I tried!! lol I hope you find one you like & will for ya.
Well, I guess that’s all for today.
oh, they announced the stars for DWTS. I know a few of them, but not very many. Are any of you gonna watch? I don’t know when it starts. It’s been quite awhile since it was on. I heard there will be some big changes, but they wouldn’t say what they are. They probably changed the dance floor,/studio.
Have any of you watched Kim Gravel shows? she’s abit too loud for me.
Take care now.
Stay safe.
dd -
Hey DD!
I love the upside down owl. I think owls are so beautiful. We had the owl house put into a big tree, and I hope I will hear owls some night. They like to be hidden, so the man put it where you can’t see it. good for the owls, but, not for me…LOLIt was gross here today. Everyone said it was awful outside. My nose did not go outside today.Too gross.
I will watch DWTS, as I love that show. I am wondering what changes will occur. I thought The Gronk was going to be on the show, but he was not on the morning show when they revealed the dancers.
You have had much better weather than we have had this summer. I think that was good, as I remember lots of fires last year. Good that you did not have any fires this year.
I have not seen any of the Kim gravel shows. So, i don’t know if I would have liked them or not.
Hope you have a good night!

I finally got my car. He really went out of his way for me. He brought the car up for me to test drive it & he drove it up today then we went in & completed the paperwork. They also did inspection,, oil change and replaced the seat base. That was the hold up because they needed to wait for it to come in & it is a job that takes hours to do. I am sure glad I did not have to pay labor on that plus the base. The battery is also new as well as the tires. So they made sure all was in good order for me.
-
Hi Sue
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m thrilled for you!! What make/model is it? Color? Details, please!
Sounds like you have a good friend that would do all that for you. A very good friend.
dd -
Hey Sue!
that is great news. they really went the extra mile to make sure all was completed, and new for you. I always say that customer service is the most important thing, and they seem to get it right.I hope you enjoy your new car, and wish you many, many happy miles!

For those that want to know it is a Lava Red Pontiac Vibe. It is not new but new to me. They sure did go above & beyond. I told him thank you & he said you needed some help & I was glad to do it. He had sold me my old car so he knew me & sure did a good job for me. I really love this car. It is so easy for me to get in & out of & the seats can be raised or lowered if needed. There is a lot of room in the back & the seats lay down. He said incase you want to haul a washer & dryer. I said I would not be hauling anything like that. It has power everything windows, mirrors. He is very nice & has been selling cars for 38 years so he knows what he is doing & is not pushy at all. He takes off Thursdays to take care of his 93 year old mother. Takes her to appts gets her groceries.
Now I have something funny I read on Facebook. Hope it won’t offend anyone. A teacher was teaching her students about colors & flavors with Life Savers. You know red = cherry, Yellow =Lemon, Green = Lime etc. So then she gave them honey flavored Life Savers (don’t know where she found those as I have never seen that flavor but works for the story) and ask them to tell her the flavor. They all did not know so she said I will give you a hint. It is what you Mom calls your Dad sometimes. One little girl spit hers out and said they are assholes. The teacher had to leave the room. Maybe I have a warped sense of humor by I thought was funny.

Oh Adele I forgot I ask him about the Subaru for older people. He said he did not know unless that they are easy to get into & out of & the seats can be raised & lowered. I know I loved mine & they run forever if the body does not rust out. I would have bought the Outback if I could have afforded it. But I think I did well with what I got.
-
Sue,
LOL! Very funny joke. -
Hi Ladies,
Another lazy weekend.
Sue, I’m so happy for you. I understand it’s new to you. I hope you get lots of miles out of it. Enjoy getting around now!!!
It’s freedom that’s for sure. and that joke was priceless!!! Kids do say the darndest things. I’m not sure about the honey flavored candy either. I know they
have pineapple, & butterscotch flavors, maybe its new.
Sunday is Christmas on the Q. It starts today, off & on then the new TSV starts it off.
My friend brought back my fall decor & guess who has taken them over? She’s on top of them now, all curled up in a fluff ball.Well, there’s not much going on here. Have a great weekend.

There is a new Quacker Factory shirt I got an e-mail. Item #A369658. I like the truck load of pumpkins but won’t be buying anything since my car is it. It is 45.98 & I think that is too much for a 3/4 sleeve T shirt. Won’t be watching much Q today as it is all Christmas.
-
Hey Sue!
You do not have a warped sense of humor at all. I think that story is hysterical!! We all need a good laugh. Kids say the funniest things, and they are so honest.
So glad you love the car. What a nice man. Very kind, too. that is the type of person you wish was selling you a car. You lucked out, and I hope that nice man is around for many years to come, helping older women get the best car and price for their needs. He is an Angel.
I hope you enjoy your car, and it serves you well. Best of luck!!
Did your weather cool off this weekend? It did up here, and it is wonderful.
We are having Heather’s birthday party today. She wants Chinese, and that is great, as nobody has to cook at all. I made her favorite bar cookie , per request….LOL
Hope you have a good day. Chesapeake Shore start tonight on Hallmark- love that show!
Adele -
Hey Sue- thank you for asking the nice man about the Subaru. You are a sweetie!
Adele -
Hi DD!
I love the butterfly pic- that one is my favorite.
So, have you started to put out your Fall decorations? I have put the ones out that I bought. I just love Fall so much, especially after such a humid summer.
So, I said to The Husband….this summer flew by. He says back….well, you never the house unless for a doctor appointment…..LOL
Yesterday was the first day we sat out in a month of Sundays! Finally able to breathe out there, and the air is off.
Thank God for Fall!
Adele -
Hey Sue!
I even shut off ITKWD, as it is all food. I never do that !
I also feel that price is too high for a shirt that has polyester in it.
Adele -
Hi Everyone,
Well Greg returned from his annual Canadian fishing trip on Sunday. So last week was a quiet week for me. Not much cooking-just ate whatever I felt like when I felt like it. They caught lots of big fish. They release them all but do keep some walleye to eat and they are allowed to bring two walleye home each. We freeze them and eat them later in the year because by the time Greg gets home he is tired of eating fish. They had good weather-I think rain one day but that doesn’t stop them unless there is lightening of course. It’s raining here today so that means that he will probably not have golf league tonight-so that will make three weeks without golf for him. He’ll forget how to play. lol
Sue, I don’t think I’ve ever seen ham sandwiches around here at fund raisers. That must be a more regional thing in your area.
Your car salesman sounds so nice! He really went above and beyond what he needed to do. That must make you feel so good to have him do all that.
I liked that shirt with the pick up and the pumpkins too but took a pass as I have so may 3/4 sleeve shirts and have said I’m not getting anymore either. I wish they would either make shirts with long or short sleeves. Don’t know when the 3/4 sleeve stuff started but I have enough and don’t really want more.
Adele, I don’t mind the cotton poly blends. A lot of shirts have that mixture-and most of the Quacker ones like that still feel like cotton.
I saw another first day of school tradition. A lady took a large tshirt-like a large or extra large for a man-She put every year on it from when her child started kindergarten until he graduates from high school. For every year she has him make a handprint under the corresponding year so when it is done you can see how his hand has grown from kindergarten through high school and it will be a treasured keepsake. I thought it was very cute.
Colleen, how was your weekend with Aliza?
Barbara, I laughed when you said you thought Colin was a Rhodes scholar for being able to count to 20. We grandparents are proud people. Speaking of talking Spanish our grands are in the bilingual program at school where half the day is taught in Spanish and half in English. It’s a voluntary program for the kids but Jenny figured it wouldn’t hurt them to come out of grade school being bilingual. Besides they’ll be able to talk to each other in Spanish and their parents won’t know what they are saying. lol
DD, I plan in watching DWTS. I just enjoy the dancing-I don’t much care who the stars are although I know at least who most of them are. One change this year is we don’t know who the stars are partnered with ahead of time. Plus I think there is a change in the voting or scoring or something and I thought I read somewhere that the judges will have more influence-but don’t know if that’s true or not. I know they had to do something after Bobby bones won. They have to decide whether it’s going to be a popularity contest or a dancing contest.
Gail -
Here is a picture of the back to school shirt.
-
Hey Gailster
Glad the Gregster had a good time, and got home safe. Also glad you did not have any scary incidents like you did that year when someone robbed the barn….I think I have that one right??
Those shirts are adorable. People come up with such nice ideas.
Our kids have not gone to school yet- next week they begin. The Aizen goes for a full day. Steph and Jhonny have to pay 2000.00 for that. If you do not take the full day, there is only one school in Saugus that has a half day program. I am continually horrified at what parents have to pay, for school programs, sports, and after school programs.
It is cooler here. One of Gary’s customers gave him a bunch of beautiful veggies. So, I sauteed some garlic and onion with a pound of hamburg, and cut up all the veggies, and added some celery, and carrots to make a veggie soup. I used Kitchen ready tomatoes as a base, and added some chicken base, with cans of water for the broth. Of course i put in some Harissa Sauce to jujje it up. So it has: hamburg, garlic, onion, fresh tomatoes ( only 3), green beans, red, and yellow peppers, and yellow squash. I cut the seed part out of the squash, hoping Gary will think those are yellow peppers….LOL
I tasted it, and it is very yummy. I used 3 cans of the kitchen ready, and 4 cans of water- about a tablespoon of the chicken base, and a squirt of Harissa, plus some salt and pepper. for noodles, I will use the tiny bows. I hope Tillie likes it…LOL
Hope you have a good night- have to go cook the little bows……

I also like the poly cotton blends as I won’t buy 100% cotton any more because they shrink & go out of shape. Mine always get short & wide. I am sick of all the 3/4 sleeves too. They say you can wear them all year around but must not be where it gets cold because I need sweatshirts for Winter.
Speaking of Winter I think Summer is over. We had a very short one July & most of August. But it is still August and was in the 40’s the other morning & in the 50’s the other mornings. It is only getting to mid 70’s during the day & it looks like this is staying. The weatherman said some leaves were starting to turn. I hate it Winter will go on forever. We use to have nice weather in Sept & Oct but now will probably need to turn on the heat.
Your kids did start school early. Today was the 1st day here.
I like to watch DWTS for the dancing. I do hope they did something about voting as it was awful that Bobby Bones won when there were many more better dancers. It should be judged on dance & not popularity.
Adele I never heard of pasta in Veggie soup. Mine is rarely the same as I use whatever veggies I have & I love cabbage in mine. Try slicing the squash & put it on the grill or in the oven with olive oil & garlic powder. They are yummy that way. -
Hi Adele,
Your soup sounds good. Can you just add the bowties right into the soup or do you serve them separately. It’s funny for my hamburger soup you put the spaghetti and rice directly into the soup but for chicken or turkey noodle my mom always served the noodles separately. I seldom make chicken noodle soup anymore as Greg is not really that fond of it. He prefers the hamburger or minestrone soups.
Greg just took three huge bags of veggies to work as we can not eat them all. One bag of tomatoes, one bag of cucumbers and one bag of peppers.
Plus every week we take veggies to Jenny’s house.
Yes we were robbed when Greg was out of town but he wasn’t on a Canada trip that time. It was when he was staying in the city for a few nights rehearsing with The Choirboys. Glad nothing like that happened again-although I don’t think those thieves cared if anyone was home or not. As right about the same time we heard about another couple getting robbed not too far from here so I imagine it was the same thieves. That couple was building a new home out behind their old farmhouse and the thieves came in and stole the air conditioning unit and furnace from the house being built while the couple was sleeping. Now Greg has the barn locked up like Fort Knox.
I don’t think full day kindergarten is even a choice here anymore. I will have to ask Jenny. When they first started it you could choose full day or half day but I haven’t heard anything about that recently so I think every class is full day now.
So what is the $2000 dollars for? I know there are fees and stuff at the beginning of the year. I will have to ask Jenny what they are now. Plus there is the long list of school supplies for each kid. Jenny said Piper and Lachlan had more stuff to buy than Kendall. And what does Piper need with 16 glue sticks! lol Our kids get free breakfast and lunch if they chose to take it. I think they all eat the breakfasts but Lachlan may be the only one who takes the lunch-I think the girls pack theirs. I think Jenny would prefer if they all ate hot lunch as it would be easier and cheaper for her that way.
Gail -
HI Sue,
I like the feel of the cotton tees. It’s funny some of mine get short and wide like yours and other’s don’t even if they are all 100% cotton-and if they are Quacker they are all washed on hand wash cycle and hung to dry so I don’t know why that happens.
I can’t wear the 3/4 sleeves in the real cold weather either. Plus they can’t be pushed up when you are cleaning or washing dishes or something-plus on me they come down longer as I have short arms.
Our kids do go back early. mid August.
We have had somewhat of a cooler summer but I have enjoyed it. Usually it stays warm through most of October so I am hoping for the same this year.
My minestrone soup recipe calls for cabbage but I think that’s the only soup that I put cabbage in.
I will have to make some stuffed green peppers with our green peppers. I love those!

Gail I sure wish I lived close to you. I would help out with the extra veggies. I would even pay for them. Everything tastes better fresh from the garden.
I guess everyone makes soup different & I just like soup so it is all good. My neighbors sure liked the soup I gave them. She said it was the best she ever ate. I find that hard to believe but am glad they liked it. She gave my bowl back with ham pot pie in it. I guess what you call dumplings but dumplings are something else to me. Any way I love it so enjoyed that.
Raining today 63 degrees out. I wish for more warm weather but it does not sound like it & they are saying a colder than normal winter & above normal presipitation. I will go broke just trying to heat the place. -
Hey Sue!
That is a good idea with the summer squash. I was going to grill it, if we ever grill again….LOL
I always add a little pasta as we have only the soup for dinner, and you get hungry after a while. Sometimes I do fresh bread with soup, but, I have not made bread since it got so hot….even though was not hot yesterday…LOL they have these great rolls at the supermarket up here- from Peperidge Farm. they come in a bag, and you can make as many as you want. If you brush a little milk on them before baking they come out like you made them yourself. they are very good, and we always get them on holidays, or when company is coming. Also, I don’t add the pasta to the soup, I serve it separate, as it eats up the broth. Each person can add how much they like to their dish. I freeze soup in smaller containers- without the pasts for that too. I had enough to make 6 small containers of soup- in the containers the Chinese restaurant sends the soup….LOL So, Tillie has some, and Gary has some, when he comes home late form going to the adult night school classes where he sells body shop supplies. He goes 2 nights a week, once the classes start up again.
It is a tiny bit warmer up here today- in the low 70’s. Very nice air. It is supposed to get warmer by the weekend, and possibly more humidity. It will not get real bad, as it is supposed to stay in the low 80’s. How about your area??
I am also glad DWTS is changing the voting, as I was shocked Bobby Bones won.
You know something- you are right. The all cotton tops did stretch out in a funny way. I forgot that.
Can’t wait to see AGT tonight!!
have a good one!
Adele -
Oh yes, Gailster!
The school supplies list is like a CEO’s supplies for the year. The 2000.00 is to pay for the full day program. I guess our Town considers it day care fees??? I think it is outrageous.
I have the pasts, rice, or barley on the side, so they can add what they want. I don’t like it in the soup as it sucks up all the broth. I can’t believe that Gary ate it. he did put some veggies to the side, but he ate a lot. I will never have all those ingredients again, so this was a one timer. usually when I do veggie soup, I saute some hamburg with onion and garlic, then add : carrots, celery, green beans, red or yellow peppers, and zucchini. I do use the Kitchen Ready tomatoes as a base, and add a tbsp, or so, of the chicken base (in a jar)
Sometimes i do the dumplings in chicken soup- those require a lot of prep. the batter has to be refrigerated for a few hours, prior to cooking them.
So, tonight it is roasted chicken with potatoes and frozen corn. The crew is thrilled they are getting home made food again. Soon, the bread baking will begin.
So,the Gronk is doing something I never expected….CDB oil. I thought he was going to be a TV show host in the am, or on DWTS, or something similar. I would love to see him on TV.
Ask Jenny if they still have to pay for full day Kindergarten. I am curious. Aizen still gets upset when you mention school, and says he is NOT going. God help us all!
I am like Sue- we would be there with our baskets to get the veggies you do not need….LOL I am lucky that Gary’s customer in NH likes us and gives us some goodies. I am going to cut the cucumber they gave us for tonight’s dinner.
Hope your night goes well…..AGT….can’t wait!

Sue and Gail
I do not add cabbage to any soup.
What goes in the soup you girls add the cabbage to???
AdelePS…I also love lentil soup and ham and pea soup.
-
Sue
I never had a ham pot pie. What did your neighbor put in it???
Of course she loved your soup- it was made with lots of love.
Adele -
Gosh girls, after reading all your yummy soup, pot pie, veggie, stuffed peppers stories, and then saw the picture DD posted on pumpkin muffins (which I am definitely going to try DD) my mouth is watering lol I made a veggie soup with hamb. and lots of fresh veggies and diced tomatoes just last week. Down here we usually bake cornbread with our veggie soup and we ate so much it was shameful. That was a night when Joey and Lisa came and ate with us. I always make a lot; so they will have plenty to take home with them too. Jerry grilled out hamburgers last night and we just had chips soda and I had made two batches of blueberry muffins. Everything was so good. Jerry and I were eating muffins at 9 last night while watching a series on Netflix. The name of it is Bloodline, and Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepherd play in it. We are really enjoying it; lots of unexpected twists and turns. If you all get a chance; check it out and see if you like it. Gail, how do you make your stuffed peppers? I use ground beef and rice in mine. I love stuffed peppers. I have been getting as much fresh veg. as I can and freezing. Oh, they taste so good in the middle of winter. PawPaw and I used to can veggies; especially tomatoes. He and I did so much together. And yes, Adele Sundowners is so common as we age; especially I saw in people over say 80 or more. MawMaw has this too. Most days she is good.
I agree with you all about the 3/4 length sleeves. Mine always seem to “ride” up my arms; especially if I put on a jacket or try to push them up some. And I get hot. I like all cotton feel, but not the shrinking up when I wash them. I hang them to dry, but it usually doesn’t help. I think that why I like seersucker so much is because it;s already puckered fabric and just dries so easily by hanging it up. And it doesn’t shrink at all.
You had such a nice man to sell you the new car Sue. That is just great. It sounds like such a nice car for you. Hope you enjoy many many happy miles in it. I wish we could all find a salesman as nice as he sounds. He mush be a really good man.
I have been noticing our leaves beginning to change colors already down here too. This is way too early. So I think we are all going to be on the lookout for more “signs” that nature will be sending us.
Take care everyone. Neal is stopping by late Thursday night after driving from OK. City that day on his was back to NC. I will be so happy to see him back home safe and sound. It has ;been a long five weeks for him to be away from his little family. Is your home getting all renovated by now Colleen? I bet it looks just beautiful. Barb -
Hey Barbara!
Well, I am attaching a pic of tonight’s dinner. Simple roasted chicken with baby potatoes, and corn. Tomorrow, i am ( wait for it) breaking out the crock pot, to do a new recipe for BBQ ribs in the crock pot. I will also make a new recipe for “simple lemon bread”. Looks quick enough, and I love anything lemon.
I would love to see the recipes for stuffed peppers too!!
I bet the kids were thrilled with their soup to take home. I package ours up in the round plastic containers from the Chinese take out- their soup containers make excellent “give away” ones.
I am dying to see AGT tonight, so I have to hurry…..LOL I have ot recording, so I wont moss a thing. Gary is catching a bit of the Red Sox game before I get into my chair.
hoping you have a great visit with Neal, and that he gets home all safe and sound!
Have a good night.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
There has been a lot going on here. I missed a lot. The soup looks really good and so does the chicken and potatoes. I would like to be eating at you house. I put cabbage in a lot of different soups. I put it in my hamburger soup and veggie soup. The one soup I never put it in is my potato soup. That would not taste good at all.
People can really be creative. I really like the t-shirt with the hand prints on it. That is really a good idea. I wonder how he will feel about doing that as he gets older. He may do it to humor his mom.
Our carpet finally came in. We had to keep calling them to finally get it in. So now we have to wait another week for Ron’s nephew to put it in. He laying carpet at another job right now. He is always busy. I like the 3/4 sleeves. They hide my upper arms and my elbows. I wear them all year round. I really liked the new tops with the truck and the Santa. I cannot remember the third one. I guess that I was not as impressed with that one It does not seem like there are very many new things. They have been showing a lot of old things. They have had some of the fall things on sale right now also.
Gail, we have been getting a lot of veggies now. It did not look like we were going to get any for a while there but they finally started growing. Our tomato vines are full right now and we are getting a lot. We have been getting more then we can eat. We are getting a lot of cucumbers, hot peppers and tomatoes. Our zucchini has stop producing. We did not get as much this year.
When does dwts start this year? I have not heard anything about it this year. I do not know what stars are going to be on or which pros are coming back.
I hope that I did not miss anyone. I have to read all the posts. W had a good time with Aliza. It rained all week-end so she did not get to go swimming. So we will have her come another week-end and go swimming. She is a handful that is for sure.
Well that is all from here. I hope all of you have a good night. Oh I forgot glad that you got a new car Sue. I hope you enjoy driving it for years.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
We missed you but knew that you were busy with Aliza. Too bad you had rain for the whole visit.
I’ll bet you are so excited to get that new carpet in. I know I would be.
You can wear the 3/4 sleeves a lot longer in the year as it is not as cold where you live. I guess that’s why they make sleeves in all lengths so there is something for for everyone. It’s just somehow I ended up with enough of them to last me forever. lol I swear sometimes they must breed in my closet. lol
I think DWTS will start sometime towards the end of September. You can google the list of stars and pros. One thing they did different this year is that we don’t find out which star is dancing with which pro until the first show.
Regular season pro football starts next week and baseball won’t end for another two months. Somethings wrong with that picture. Baseball starts up in the spring and they still play basketball and hockey for another two months. All the pro sports seasons overlap too much now.
Gail -
Hi Barbara,
Enjoy your visit with Neal.
You know I haven’t made stuffed peppers in a while-so I don’t exactly remember what I put in them. I know hamburger and rice and I think either canned tomatoes or tomato sauce and some cheese. I am going to have to look up my old recipe-if I can find it. lol
But now that I have been talking about them it’s making me hungry for them. They make really good ones at Costco. When we are there I usually buy a couple of packages and freeze them.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I put cabbage in my minestrone soup. The recipe that I always use which was in a crock pot book always called for it-although I usually make it on the stove top and not the crock pot. lolSometimes I will make a drop dumpling which is just eggs and flour and salt. I cook them in water flavored with a chicken bouillon cube and some onion flakes and will use them as a side with chicken or pork.
I saw something about Gronk and CBD oil. They didn’t go into detail but I thought he wanted football players to be able to use it or something.
You know this year there’s no one on AGT that I absolutely love or that I’m sure is going to win. Maybe I will be able to pick someone when the semifinals start.
I don’t think Jenny pays anything extra for all day kindergarten other than the regular fees-which I don’t even know what they are anymore. Plus I don’t think there is even an option for half day anymore.
I hope Aizen gets over his fear of school quickly. I wish he was excited to go-like his big brother JJ. Does he have any little friends who are starting too that he can sort of buddy up with. That would help a lot- If he knows some of the other kids who will be there ahead of time. If he is going into a room of total strangers that would be scary if he is a bit shy. I hope it all works out and is an easy transition. I know this as I was traumatized by kindergarten and cried and hid and begged every day not to go back. Eventually they finally gave in and let me quit as we were moving from Chicago to the suburbs. So the next year I started first grade and I was fine. So now you know the truth ladies- I was a kindergarten drop out. lol
Of course you couldn’t do that now as kindergarten is mandatory. But back then in the stone ages it was not.
Last night we went to a 70th birthday party for a friend. It was at a local pizza place and was a very nice get together. It just so happened that the birthday boy Bill has a brother whose wife has a brother who was in the Paulist Choir which was the same boys choir that Greg and his brothers were in. So she actually recognized the Norusis name and remembered going to Old Saint Mary’s on Sundays to hear the boys sing Mass. She told me she remembered Ralph (Greg’s middle brother) the most because she thought he was cute back then. lol I got a kick out of that.
Greg went to the cardiologist Tuesday and she doesn’t need to see him until next year. She said all the other arteries looked good and didn’t show any other even small blockages-so he was much relieved after talking to her. She said maybe next year he can even go off the blood thinner which he would like. Right now he goes to work out in the yard and any little scratch will bleed a lot and he has bruises where he doesn’t know where they came from. But-one step at a time-as long as he needs this he will take it. But he feels good now too. We are blessed.
Gail -
Sue,
I never had a ham pot pie either. It’s funny how we have been discussing ham a lot lately. Did she use chipped ham. lol -
Hi Colleen!
That is so sad that it rained the entire time Aliza was at the house, and she did not get into the pool. We will be closing our pool next week. even though it is sunny up here (after the torrential rain last night) nobody will ever go back into the pool. The water is way too cold now, and they are all wimps….LOL So keeping it open more is just a waste. I hate to see it closed, as it looks so sad with the cover on it.I am not sure when DWTS comes back on. I do think it is early in September. There are a lot of new shows that look interesting. Bless this Mess will be back for another season, and I am very happy about that. That show is hysterical. We all know how I love to laugh….LOL
Al and Joanne are coming to dinner Saturday night. The menu is roasted sausage/peppers/onions, with boiled potatoes….I think….LOL not sure what goodies I will make for desert.
I made a new recipe yesterday- Lemon Bread with Lemon Glaze. It is all gone. Heather came after her meeting last night to watch the finale of Yellowstone with us, and she had 2 pieces, and had the rest for breakfast….LOL Ill attach the pic, and the pic of the BBQ ribs I made in the crock pot. none left of that, either.
I hope you get your floor in soon. Our windows are in at Lowe’s. these are the ones that “leaked” in the living room, and have a full warranty against leakage. Get this….they said it is our responsibility to get them, and put them in. Seriously??? I will have to call and see if I can hire their installer.
I hope you have a good day!!

From what I heard DWTS starts Sept.16th.
-
Thanks Sue.
-
Hi Gail,
You are right about that. We have warm weather here for a lot longer then you have there. I can remember when it would snow before Thanks giving when we lived in Rockford. I still miss that place but they say it has changed so much that we would not recognize it. It has been a long time since we have been back. In our house that we lived they have bars on the windows and the doors. It is really sad.
It will be a couple of weeks before they will put it down. Ron’s nephew is busy and cannot come until then. He is taking this week-end off so he can go fishing. He works a lot and deserves a break.
I hope that Piper is having fun in school. Aliza started pre school this week and she really likes it. She told me that the teacher was really nice to her. It was funny the way she talked. The only thing she would talk about is how the teacher was nice to her. How is Kendall liking switching classrooms this year. Owen thinks that it is fun. He has different teachers and sees different kids in some of his classes.
That was really great news about Greg. I imagine that he was really relieved that he does not have to go back for a year. That is a good idea to put the fish in the freezer and having them later. Sounds like Greg and his friends have a lot of fun fishing. Were they in Canada? I cannot remember if you said that is where they were at. I wish that Ron would do things like that. He is working too hard.
It does not make sense for sports to run over like they do now. It gets tiresome there is no break between anymore. It will be interesting to see how the foot ball season goes. We got a soccer team this year instead of a football team. It will be interesting to see how well they do and if they have enough fans to stay here.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
We are getting ready to close our pool also. The water is too cold to get in the pool. Aliza even thought the water was cold. We got one of those pool closing kits from Wal-Mart. We will clean the pool one more time before we put the cover on. We will vacuum it one more time.I hate to close it but the steps that we have are not the rights ones for us. We are trying to find steps for next hear.
Sue said that it is coming on September 16th. I heard that they did not ask Artem was not asked to come back this year. I cannot understand why they did not ask him back. Shawna Burgess is not coming back either there are a lot of them that are not coming back from what I heard. I hope it will be good show this year.
I hope that they put the windows in and you do not have to wait very long. Our floors will all be done a week from Saturday. At least that is what he told Ron. I would like to get my house put back together. We cannot find anything because we cannot put a lot of things back together because they have to put the trim up in the hall and dining room. The he will put the carpet down when he gets that done. Then that will be it. Thank the Lord.
That will be nice to have Joanne and Al. Your dinner sounds really good. I tried something different with sausages. I fixed sausages with zucchini, onions and green peppers. It turned out pretty good I have never cooked sausages with zucchini before. I usually fix fried potatoes with it. It was nice for a change. I hope that you have a good time with your company on Saturday.
Your lemon bread sounds really good. It must be Heather really liked it. Everything you bake is so good. You never had any left over. I wish that I had
your talent.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Sue
Thanks for letting us all know when DWTS starts! you are our organizer, and keep us on track.
Go Sue!Hey Colleen
That stinks that all those dancers will no longer be available. I hope they bring in good ones. We get attached to the personalities!
Our pool will close next weekend. Gary is worried about the hurricane coming up here before we get it closed. I hope we do not get high winds to make a mess of the pool, as it is very clean right now. We can’t get it closed this weekend, as we need lots of help to get the cover on.
I am so glad your carpet will be put down next weekend. Everything will be finished, and you can get back to normal. You will love that.
I did not get a chance to call Lowes today, as I had company on and off all day- Amanda came by twice, and Heather was here too, plus Bobby had the day off. I finally got the spinach squares in the oven, and they will be done in a couple of minutes.
I saw in the email to Gail that your kids like the teachers that have this year- that is great news.
Hope you have a good weekend……good weather too!
Thanks for the compliments on the lemon bread, and dinner. Your soup sounds good. So does your zucchini with sausages!!
Here are the pics that I did not get loaded yesterday…..
Adele -
Hey Gailster
What is this drop dumpling soup? Give us the specs, so we can all try it out. I never met a dumpling that is not loved….LOL
Aizen has no friend that is starting Kindergarten with him. He is all alone, and that is scary. We are all praying it goes well on Wednesday. All he needs is one little friend, and he will be ok. I am hoping he will find a little buddy.
I saw you also said your kids like their teachers- that is great. It gives the new year a good beginning.
That’s fabulous news about Greg. He must be thrilled he does not have to go all the time. All good news!
That is awful that Kindergarten traumatized you so much. I hope to God we fare a little better than that with The Aizen. I think the boys will be here one night this weekend. I got some crafts from Oriental Trading Co to do with them- Halloween ones, of course. I figure Aizen can bring one to his new teacher….suck up is a good thing….LOL I hope they come, and I can get him to make one for her….film at 11:00.
I better go, as my eyes are getting real tired. Already took the spinach squares out of the oven- yahoo- done for the day!!
Please read the post to Colleen for more info….
Have a great weekend!
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. Let’s all pray that the hurricane turns north & heads out to sea instead of hitting land. I’m seeing reports of it turning north before it hits Fl. Let’s keep good thoughts & pray it does. I know the Big Weatherman upstairs can do it.
I pray no one on here will be affected by it. I know how the bands of wind & rain can reach for a long way.
I’ll write more tomorrow.
dd -
Hi Adele,
I hope that the hurricane does not effect you there. I know that we get some of our storms because of the hurricane but that’s it. We have leaves in the pool again so will have to get in again and get them out. The water is really high in there so this will be interesting. If we have anymore rain the water will be running out of the pool. This is crazy.
I was really disappointed that some of those dancers will not be coming back. It is really going to be different. Val and Max have quit the show. I wonder if they will come back next season.
Your meal looks so good. I like the dishes that you baked the bread in. I like the boofetti that is really cute. I may have to buy a few pieces. I never knew that Temptations had such cute dishes. The ones that I have are plain.
We went to the Labor day picnic today and had a really good time. We went by this one booth and this man was carving animals out of wood and carved it with a chain saw. It was interesting to see how he carved the eyes and mouth. The man was really talented. I like walking around at those things. They had a lot of booths with all types of things. It is easy to spend too much.
Sounds like you had a busy day with everyone dropping by. It really breaks your day up though. Our days really get boring sometimes. My daughter that lives close to us works all the time. My grands do also. So they do not get to stop by either. Oh well we keep pretty busy all the time.
That is funny teaching Aizen to be a suck up already. He may react to school like Aliza did. She loves her teacher and made one friend the first day. So she could not wait to go back. Maybe it will be that way with Aizen.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night and hope that your dinner with Joanne and Al is nice.
Colleen -
HI All-I’ve started a September thread. See you all there.
-
Hey DD
Well said. Could not say it any better. Prayers for the entire coast.
Adele -
Hey Colleen!
Well, the suck up thing did not work….LOL Steph did not want to bring in a present for the teacher on the first day. Oh well.
I am praying he ha as good a day as Aliza. that would be fabulous if he makes a little friend, and then gets excited about school. Stpeh said all the first week will be half days, with orientation on the first day. ‘
Did I tell you he had to do a book report? I am still blown away by that one.
The storm will definitely come up here, but it may not be a hurricane when it gets here. How bad it will be is not known, but I do not think it will be too bad.
Gary is concerned for what will get into the pool, as he wants to get the cover on next weekend. I hope all that goes well!
I love the Temptations Boo Fetti and Pumpkin dishes and baking pieces. The Fall leaves are pretty too. Makes baking more fun and they bake way better than metal.
That carnival you went too sounds like it was a lot of fun. I used to love to go to those, when I was more mobile. You could spend a fortune by the time you were all through it….LOL
I never know who is popping by any day of the week. We saw Amanda two days in a row, and that is unusual. Have not seen Marissa this holiday weekend. The boys and Heather stayed over. Steph and Jhonny picked them up, and took them to the Mall for school shoes. Dying to hear what they picked out.
Hope your weekend is going well.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I think Aizen will like school he just has to get there for the first day. It is hard to not cry when you send the kids to school for the first day. I did with my kids also. They did not let us take them in though. They met us at the door and the kindergarten kids all lined up together and walked to class together. So all the mom’s stood outside and cried. It was really sad to see. It was a good idea though. We took them to see their classroom when they had open house and the kids got to meet their teacher then. They went to a Catholic school so there was not that many kids.
Aizen has to do a book report? That is unusual for them to have to do that. Can he read and write already? That is really good if he can.
I imagine that you will get some really bad storms from that hurricane. We get some effects from the storms and they are not as severe as what you will get from them We just get a lot of rain and some thunderstorms.
I am so glad that I do not have to do that anymore. We would have arguments over what shoes they wanted to buy. When they were Catholic school they had to wear saddle shoes and bobby socks. They hated them but they usually lasted for the whole year unless they grew out of them. It was nice they wore uniforms and we did not have to fight with them over clothes.
It is nice that you have people popping over all the time. It sure breaks up your day and week. Sometimes I wish that we lived closer to Danyielle we would see the kids more often.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night. See you on the September page. -
Hey Colleen
yes, he did have to do a book report, and no…he does not read. Steph read the book to him, and he has to answer the questions. i thought that was ridiculous.
I wish you loved closer to them too, as I know you would love to see them more. Maybe they will move closer some day.
We are about to get some rain or thunderstorms shortly. then next weekend, we get the hurricane. I hope it gets a lot less strong next week. I feel so bad for the people in the islands, and Florida. I also hope #45 realizes global warming is to blame, and stops adding to it.
I remember all the Mom’s crying. I was there for everyone’s first day of school. Not sure about The Aizen. I know we are getting together after he comes home- not sure about before, as this school is real bad for parking.
Attaching a pic of the craft we did with Aizen….
Have a good night!
Adele
