Hello Everyone,
It’s February. What did Jeanne call it-funky February. lol I know that the cold and probably snow will still be around. Now would be a nice time to visit a sunny place but we’ll just have to do that in our imaginations. Here’s some visuals to start out the month. -
Hi Everyone,
Adele, that would be so nice if Enzo got the job at the post office too. He sounds like a fun guy. What is he doing at present? They are saying we will have snow Saturday and Sunday too but are not saying any amounts yet. Haven’t decided if we will have a regular dinner on Sunday or do finger foods. Will decide Saturday before going to the store. Now if you ever make that pork dish you have to make sure you tell your family that you are serving them rippitty scallion so they can look at you like you’re nuts-that’s part of the fun of serving that dish. Almost as fun as when I make hand grenades. lol
Barbara, I will be praying for you and your family. The serenity prayer always helps me.
DD, Kay is a tiny little thing. No wonder they need to work on getting her strength up. You do have nice mild winters in your area of the country. However, my sister and her family lived in Portland many years ago and she said there is a lot of rain by comparison to the Midwest. We don’t really do much for Valentine’s Day anymore. I know I have an appointment with the rheumatologist that day and a dentist appointment the day before so I guess that is my week of check ups.
Colleen, it’s probably better that Mandy will get the car as then you guys won’t have to drive them as much anymore. We usually try to space out the times when each of us will need a new car so we both don’t need one at the same time. It doesn’t always work out but we try.
You are not having a pity party. I actually know what you mean by thinking about trying something new just to see if i could do it. Of course I suppose I could always take a school course as so many are offered online today or go volunteer somewhere to try something new. There are lots of opportunities around although right now I just kind of enjoy my time being my own. But I do miss the social aspects of some of those things as all my old friends are not available anymore for a variety of reasons. It’s harder meeting new people when you are older and don’t have kids in school anymore.
Kendall had kits where she made soaps, bath balls and some kind of bouncy ball things. She really enjoys doing that stuff and also she likes those baking videos on YouTube.
For some reason I’m thinking there were lead mines up here around Galena too. I will have to look into that.
The shirt that I have that says Jolly is new as I just got it from I think that AnyBody line on the Q. It was something I just had to have in honor of my invisible friend.
Gail -
Here’s the serenity prayer, National Quacker Day, some cats in Quacker sweaters and a couple of dogs thrown in for good measure.
-
OMG Gailster……I want those cupcakes!
The serenity prayer is always good to say, no matter what you are dueling with. We just cannot control everything, or everybody, and we cannot make them do the right, kind thing. I wish we could. It would save a lot of heartache. May, many times, I have said I wished I had a Magic Wand, and could make everything go away.
Where in the world did your mom get that name for her dinner? It is so dam funny!
My eyes are pooped again tonight- from all the tax prep. they are actually burning. Read my posts to the girls, so you can get all the updtaes.
‘I was told today that Enzo got the job. We are all hoping he will stick it out. Enzo worked with his cousin (the one who did my air conditioning ) in HVAC. He and his cousin argue like an old married, Italian couple. Enzo has quit, or been fired at least once a month. they ALWAYS make up, but, this time, Enzo said he is done. he also worked for his Dad, who has his own construction company. He and his Dad fight like crazy too. Enzo said it is time to work for someone he is not related to…..LOL You know how emotional the Italians get. They could make a sit com from watching them work.
Have a good night!
Adele -
Adele,
I know don’t those cupcakes look special. I don’t remember where I got the photo-I wonder if they are on Pinterest. It seems like it wouldn’t be too hard to do.
My Mom made that name up. She was such a fun person who did lots of goofy things when we were growing up.
I think Enzo may be right and it’s time to get away from working with family. I bet he’ll do better at the PO as there will be none of that emotional family attachment to the job. Anyway, good for him for trying something new.
Speaking of sitcoms what was up with that last episode of The Goldbergs? Were they trying out a spinoff or something. We thought it was a pretty dumb show.
Someone needs to tell Nancy’s sister that it is still a free country and your kids get to vote for whoever they want even if you don’t agree with it. lol So you and her are now news addicts. I can only take so much anymore and you really have to judge for yourself what is news as at changes depending on who is reporting it.
It must be football mania in your house now. We don’t have a team in the game so we will just watch just because it’s there. I hope it is a close game and not a blow out as then it is boring unless of course you are rooting for the winning team and then you don’t care if it’s a 100 points difference. lol We are supposed to get snow all weekend but i still don’t know how much. And now they are saying snow on Monday and we are going into the city Monday night for that Taste fundraiser for ONP. That should be interesting with all the different chefs there making different foods. I will have to starve myself all day so I can try a lot of different things. lol
Gail -
Hey Gail!!
I thought those were your cupcakes.
Enzo is real funny. he rolls his eyes all the time when Marissa tells stories about him and his cousin. then when they argue, his cousin calls Rissy to have her intervene, as they are like brothers. Rissy is our little peacemaker.
Your Mom must have been a hoot- God bless her soul! Speaking of Moms- Tillie goes this week for her shot with the new doctor. I pray this one goes a lot better. Dam snow is predicted for Wednesday- we are watching the news on that one.
I did not like that segemnt of the Goldberg’s either. I am wondering if it will be a spin off, as the sister of the Principal was a hoot and a half- she carried the whole show, and they could make a show around her.
Nancy’s sister is the most anti #45 person ever. She watches the news shows all day long, and into the night. Nancy and I take breaks from it, as it would make you nuts all day long. When something hot is happening, we take turns watching, so we do not miss anything, or Nancy calls her sister for what we missed…..LOL. here is a funny for you. One day when it was a quiet news day, i was in the shower, and the phone was ringing off the hook. When I got done, and found out what happened, (mind you, I cannot remember the issue that particular day…LOL), and said to Nancy….”Good God, I cannot even take a shower without the country being in grave danger.”
I have my other day shows I love too- The Chew, the View, and sometimes The Talk. A lot of times, I have it off, so i can enjoy the quiet too.
The entire state is Super Bowl nuts. It is all everyone is focused on. Even the police commissioner in Boston has areas of Boston roped off, with police patrols warning the college kids to behave. They are patrolling the bars where people watch the games, etc. Everyone up here has Pats gear on….LOL Go Ats!! I am so glad my Gronkie is playing. I love the Gronk.
So, tonight I made beef stew- my way. i put in a little garlic, a gigger of rosemary, and thyme, a squirt of tomato paste, a can of Kitchen Ready tomatoes, the beef ( 3 lbs), about a cup of red wine, carrots, celery, one onion and a few potatoes. Salt and pepper, of course. I saute the beef with the garlic, then saute the vegges, (accept the potato), then add the can tomato, paste, wine, and saute some more, and then add a little water, and the potatoes, and boil for 1 1/2 hours. It tasted fabulous. So, THE BOY comes home. he says why is it red? I say because of the tomatoes. he says tomato does not belong in beef stew. I say……mine is Italian Beef Stew. He was the only one who did not like it….LOL LOL
My chicken wings have been marinating for Sunday……
That cook/bake off sounds good on Monday. I hope you do not get too much snow, so you can still get there. that would be awful if the ONP cannot get all the people there. does Jenny go too?
Blue Bloods is on tonight- hope it is not a repeat.
We are getting frigid weather tonight, into Sunday. Sunday into Monday, another storm with a wintry mix. They just the same for Wednesday- snow into rain. I hope we can get Tillie to the eye doctor. Dam.
Adele -
Hello friends. I hope I can tell you all what is hurting us so badly. I will try. Things were going great; too good, I guess. Sarah had come home with the baby and Neal had already asked us if the baby could spend two days with us? We had our two day; it was heavenly. Jerry and I were so happy with him. Then, it happened. Jerry was talking with our son right before she was to go back to CA, and Jerry was talking to him about how happy we were to have the baby with us and how great for us to be able to take care of him. Neal asked what did he mean, that we saw him every week since he was born, and I guess you know where it went from there. Jerry made the terrible mistake of thinking he could just tell our son about how Sarah would not let us keep the baby while he was gone; and Neal said that he knew we did because that is what Sarah had told him, and I rushed to get to the phone because I knew in my heart that Neal loves her so much that he would not bring himself to try to understand our feelings; and that it would get bad. Jerry told him that her parents kept Colin all the time (which you all know is true) and how even when I begged her to let us keep him she would not. Even though everything Jerry said was true; I knew I was standing in the middle of a storm just watching it cause more
and more damage. So; we went from facetimeing with the baby almost everyday since Jan. to absolutely nothing. Neal has called us twice in three weeks; and we have not seen the baby at all. It feels like someone has just ripped a huge hole in our hearts; both for the hurt we have done to our son; and the loss of our finally being able to spend time with the baby. Jerry has always been someone who talks honestly with his sons’ but I don’t think he realized how small a part we really play in our sons lives right now. We have had a huge reality check and the fact that we both know all the hurt that Sarah has done to us; and we have been silent; and now that the truth has been told; it did nothing but backfire on me and Jerry. This should never have happened; especially the way it did. Jerry is so hurt; he has cried, he said he felt he could say anything to one of his sons, and they would know he was not lying to them. He is crushed, I am crushed. Neither of us know what the future holds. We have cried bucketfulls everyday. I can just imagine what you all must be thinking, how stupid could you two be doing this? Of course, he will believe his wife. Trust me, I have asked myself all these questions and thousands more.
So I have to close now; crying again; feeling like the worse mother and mother in law, grandmother, you name it. I do hope you all can bear with me as I wallow in my self pity. I hope and pray that all of you and your families are doing well. Praying for the sick; the sad, and all of us who need some guidence. Thank you my dear friends, for your patience and understanding of how hard this is to write these words. It makes what has happened even more real. Hugs across the miles to you all. Barbara -
Oh God, Barbara
I feel so bad for both of you. How could Jerry have known that would backfire on him? He was just having an honest conversion with his son. Only thing is, this old saying is what has changed between Jerry and his sons…..”A daughter is your daughter all of your life, a son is a son until he takes him a wife”.
Unfortunately, That is one of the truest statements ever said. Translation of the phrase is, we are never right with a DIL, no matter what. No matter the issue, who is right or what the truth is. We will always be wrong. It is a tough thing to learn, and we all learn it at a vulnerable time, with lots of emotional pain to follow. We all learn it, and it is never pretty. It also comes out of left field. Just like a home run that hits you in the head, that you do not see coming.
I wish I had something to say that can make it better. I will be praying some time will pass and your son will start doing the face time again. If not maybe if Jerry feels up to it, he can try to call and repair the relationship enough, for the face time to start again. My heart is broken for both of you.
Over here, there have been times when certain people did not speak to each other, and it is awful. I am always trying to have the crazy end, and I do a lot of…..you cannot get these minutes back, and……there will be a time when you will be very sporran for time missed…..every day is a gift…..etc. It is just plain awful when there is rift in the family. You had my back when we had one, and I hope I have your back for this one. I just hope it is not a tragedy that brings everyone back together. Nobody would want that t happen.
I will be praying for Jerry and Neal to be able to repair this rift, and Neal to realize his child needs hid grandparents, as we are all living on borrowed time at our ages. You know, a friend of mine just lost his Nan, who was 96. He wrote a beautiful message on Facebook, saying how he could do no wrong with her, and how special she was in his life, and what a hole is left in his heart. I wish your son could see that.
We love you, Barbara. We are in your corner. We got you.
Love, hugs, and prayers, Adele -
Hi Adele,
I tried to get on here last night and wrote you a post but it went somewhere and the computer was acting really crazy. So I just gave up and did something else and it never did act right when I tried to get back on here.
Brook got the lead in the play that they are doing in the spring. She is going to be the bride. She is so excited because she got the part and one of her friends got the lead male part. Kylie was at tryouts and she said that the two leads had a lot of chemistry and so they will be good together. I was so happy for her. She is going to have so much fun.
I hope that Enzo get a job at the post office. It will be a good job for him. It is hard to work with family and you never know what is going to cause a fight. That must be hard on Marissa when the cousin asks her to step in. She must not know what to do. She seems like such a sweet girl.
I saw that show on the Goldbergs. I was wondering what was going on. Are they going to show the Goldbergs anymore or are they done for the year? The one that they showed was a little confusing. So will have to try again and see how funny the show is. It was disappointing that it was not the show that you always watch. The guy that played the coach is the husband to the mom? I am a little confused or were any of them from the regular show.
I hope that the shot goes well for Tillie. I will be praying for her. She may be a little more relaxed going to a familiar place and her regular doctor will be in the same building. Sometimes that makes you feel more at ease.
You are getting like Ron watching the news all the time. Just do not let yourself get down listening to all of that garbage. If Ron watches too much he get really grumpy. That is when I turn it off.
I hope that your team wins the super bowl tomorrow. Your foot ball food sounds really good. Have a great night and fun day tomorrow watching the game.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
It will be nice for Mandy to have the car. She really does need it. I do tease her about taking my car away. She could always have the jeep. We both just laugh because we would never sell her the jeep. It is too old an has too many problems. She knows this so she would not want it. She is doing so well now and I am just hoping that she continues to do so.
Brook got the lead in the play at school. She is so excited. I wrote more about it in Adele’s post so if you want you can read it there. It should be interesting around here with all the play practice and driving back and forth.
It is hard to meet new people at our age. I have not seen a lot of our old buddies that we use to go to lunch with. There are so many things going on with them right now and we just do not get together as much as we use to. It might be a good idea to go to the college and take a course. There will be older people there taking classes. Just do not know what class to take. Maybe a computer class. I could learn something about the computer and may be able to do a lot more then I can do now.
That is nice that Kendall likes doing all the crafty things. It gives them a lot of different things to do and they learn a lot by doing them. I am glad that Kaylee is doing all these things and having doing them. It makes the time go by faster when the kids are out of school.
The anybody line seems to have a lot of cute clothes. I really like the cuddle duds and would like to get some more for next winter.. They sure are warm and comfortable. I wear the set that I have so often that it is hardly in the closet when I need it. It is always in the laundry.
Well that is about all from here. Thanks for posting all the pictures. They are always so cheerful and fun to see.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am so sorry to hear about what happened. It is a shame that Sarah did that and is causing trouble between you and Neal. I would be calling and talking to him and asking why he will not skype right now. Just try to make things better. It just makes ti so hard when they are so far away and you can not talk face to face. I bet poor Jerry is feeling so bad. Just hang in there my friend it will get better. It just takes time and a lot of talking . I will be praying for all of you.
Colleen -
Dear Barbara,
First of all you are not a bad mother, MIL, and grandmother. You are a wonderful honest hard working loving woman. And you are not having a pity party-you have a very legitimate reason to be sad.
Also, you are not to blame for anything as the truth came out accidentally. I am actually astonished that Sarah lied to Neal about you guys seeing the baby with no thought to the consequences should she ever be found out. That is a huge lie to tell to your husband.
I wonder if the reason you haven’t heard much from Neal is that he is trying to reconcile his love for Sarah with the fact that she has told him a big fat lie-and maybe he is wondering what other truths she has avoided. I know deep down in his soul he knows how honest you and Jerry are and that you would not say that Sarah had not let you have the baby when he was in school if it were not true-so maybe they are having a rough patch as he sorts through all this new information.
I will be praying that there will be some sort of reconciliation and that you can all start over anew.
In the meantime know that we all love and care for you and are on your side.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I wish those cupcakes were made by me. lol I can’t be in the kitchen for very long anymore without my back hurting so I don’t do much baking anymore or even cooking things that take very long.
It’s a shame that you can’t even take a long hot shower without the fate of the free world lying on your shoulders. lol I guess you will have to take the phone in there with you from now on in case Nancy has an important update.
You know I used to watch The View religiously from the very first day it started. I stuck with it through all the personell changes and then about eight months or so ago I realized that all the political talk was just making me nervous and on edge and so I stopped watching it and instantly felt better so the show had become kind of toxic to me and I have never gone back to it. I don’t even miss it and I thought I would really have withdrawals after all those years of watching it. Funny but I guess I had just had enough
Sorry the Pats didn’t win but it was a good game. Congrats to the Eagles and their fans-I’m thinking that Sue might be a fan living in Penn. It’s nice that they won their first Super Bowl-at least i think it might be their first.
We had a dinner of lobster roll sliders for the Pats and a beef sandwich that’s not really Philly beef but I pretended it was to honor the Eagles. It’s actually you take a French bread and spread butter and garlic powder and broil it until it’s brown-then you layer on roast beef provolone cheese and sliced tomatoes put the top of the bread on wrap in tin foil and place on a cookie sheet and bake for about 30 minutes and then you take out and slice it into small sandwich size pieces. I also served potato salad that i made and a deli jello salad. So we had a little bit of Boston and Philly on our plates.
I like the story about the Italian beef stew. You have an answer for everything. lol
I’m still not sure if it will be snowing tonight when we go into the city. Jenny doesn’t go as the tickets are expensive since it’s a fund raiser and a fancier event than the concert. This is like a Taste of ONP and all these different chefs from restaurants around the city make different dishes and you can go to the different stations and try the food. Plus it’s on a Monday night and Adam works nights so there would be no one to watch the kids since we won’t be around.
Speaking of kids here’s a funny. Last week Isla (Jenny’s niece) comes home from preschool and tells her Mom that they learned all about Corn Dog Day and Kelly laughs and says Uh I think maybe you mean Ground Hog Day. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Congrats to Brook on getting the lead in the play. That is a very big deal and she must be so excited. What is the play?
I’m glad that Mandy is doing so well too and I hope things will get better and better for her. I will keep praying.
Unfortunately you picked the wrong night to try watching the Goldbergs as the regular show isn’t anything like that one. The mother isn’t married to the gym teacher and i can see how it was confusing if you never watched before. Try again and hopefully the regular people will be on.
I like the Cuddle duds too. I sent my sister who is always cold a pair for Christmas and she loves them now too.
We have a junior college around here that offers courses especially for older people and i often think some of the topics look interesting. My sister takes on line courses all the time just for the sake of learning something new. She is always busy busy busy and has lots of energy. I wish I had some her energy. I’m more of a couch potato. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen
That is so exciting that Brook got the lead in the play. How fabulous it that! I bet you are all thrilled. Did you do a celebration for her? You should bake her a celebration cake.
i am scared for this week with Tillie, as we are having a snow storm, that is supposed to change to rain very late in the day. That means slippery conditions, and she has no business being out in that weather. I am going to call the eye doctor, to see if pushing the appointment out a week will make a difference.
That was a very unusual Goldberg show. I hope you watch it again, as it is really good. the mother is not married to the coach. But, she always tell shim what to do, when it concerns her kids. She is like that with the Principal too, and it is real funny. they always hate her coming into the school, so the addition of the Principal’s sister on the front desk was hysterical, as she stopped Beverly from seeing the Principal.
That is awful when you post disappears. Next time, try to use the “back” button, and it may appear again. If it does, copy the post into a file, and then you can come back on, and paste it in the post section. that way, you will not lose it. that’s what I have done, and it usually works.
We lost the big game. The whole state of Mass. is depressed.
Hope your day is going well!
Adele -
Thanks Colleen………
The Patriots fans are depressed, and ate half a bag of Smart Food popcorn, and 4 pieces of chocolate…….LOL
Adele -
Well said, Gailster. I know your words to Barbara were very comforting.
Colleen- your words of kindness were also very comforting. We are all in Barbara’s corner, and praying for this to be over.
Adele
-
Hey Gailster
That is a very funny ground hog day story. How cute is that??
I hope the weather is good for your ONP function tonight. That sounds so cool to be able to try so many dishes in one place. I hope they make a lot for the fundraiser.
Your dinner selections were quite bi-partisan…..LOL everyone up here is devastated. that pic of Brady on the ground, just sitting there is the most pathetic picture ever. I bet Giselle wants him to retire, fast. We have no idea why they did not let Butler play- it is a mystery. Bellichek said it was not medical, nor disciplinarian. I ave not checked Facebook yet- I bet it is very depressing. I also wonder if Sue was watchmaking the big game, and rooting for her Eagles.
that is why I do so much in the crock pot- you do not have to stand there to do anything, accpet put it together.
oh yes, I can justify any behavior to make it positive on y part….LOL
if I do not like what the View is chatting about, I shut them off. Some days it does get to be too much. I also shut MSNBC off when they are talking about the same thing, over and over. i get more crazy when I am waiting for something to happen- like agree on DACA , and other issues, so the budget can be passed. I will turn it on and off, to see of there has been any movement. Those days Nancy and I take turns watching, so we do not have to get nuts. I cannot believe people can’t just sit down and do what is right for the country, instead of arguing the party line. I love John McCain. he is a reasonable man. Oh well. I hope they reach an agreement before the 8th.
Have fun tonight- what cool Quacker top will you be wearing?

I just wanted to comment on the Super Bowl. I am so glad the Eagles won. I am a big fan and they have never won( kind of like the Cubs). They have worked very hard to get there. Now I hope I won’t lose any friends for what I am about to say. I think the Patriots & Brady underestimated the Eagles. They got cocky & got beat. I think Brady thought no way could a rookie back up quarterback beat him. I think he was also a poor sport just walking off & not congratulating Foles & the Eagles. I know he was disappointed but he has already won 5 times. It was a good game and not one sided.
It snowed here all day yesterday so I shoveled out today but have not cleaned my car off but better do it as we are to get 4 to 6 inches on Wed. It is one system after the next. I hate winter. -
Hi Sue
So glad to hear from you. You will never lose me as a friend over any sport!
I did not know Brady did not shake anyone’s hands. Maybes that is why Giselle (his wife) shook every player’s hand before she left the stadium. they mentioned that on our news tonight, and I thought it was very gracious of her. I had no idea her husband did nothing. Wow. Now i know it was more likely an apology for her husband ignoring them. that is not the Patriot’s Way. Bob Kraft is very big on community and being gracious.
I feel the same way. I kept saying to Gory that everyone was WAY too sure we were going to win,and that gets the players cocky, and cocky people lose.
We are getting that sot rm too. I called the eye doctor, and they said I could wait one more week for Tillie’s next shot, so I moved her appointment. I can’t take her out in that kind of weather. I would never go out in it,let alone get her and her walker in and out. too dangerous.
Congrats on the Eagles’ victory- well deserved, but still sad for us….LOL I was goign to get the boys a new championship hat for Valentines day. Now, I have to think of something else. I don’t think they would appreciate an Eagles hat- I’d get a smack for that one….LOL
Have a good night.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Before I get started, I have just one thing I want to get off my chest. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! That was the next to the best Super Bowls since the Seahawks won it. Exciting game.
I wish I could send you guys the weather we’re having out here. Our little hedgehog predicted an early spring, & it’s already here. We’re 10 degrees above normal for this time of yr. It was in the upper 50s to low 60s around the area. I doubt we’ll see any snow down here unless we get an Arctic blast out of Siberia. I sure hope the temps start warming up out there for you guys.
Did you see the episode of This Is Us after the celebrations got over with? I won’t say anything in case someone hasn’t seen it & heard about it. -
Hi Ladies,
I sent my post before I wanted to.
Barbara, I haven’t read any posts yet, but I hope the truth will come out eventually. Hopefully, someone will trip herself up & the truth will be known. I still say give it over to the Lord & let Him handle it. I’m praying for Him to comfort you & your husband. I hope Neal will realize they’ll be hurting the baby if they keep him from seeing you by skyping.
I recorded the episode of This Is Us, along with the Jimmy Fallon segment with the cast of the show.
Oh, does anyone have a favorite commercial(s) from the game?
Well, that’s about all for now.
dd -
Hi Everybody,
The name of the play that Brook is in is Altar Egos The I do’s and the I don’t s of an all American wedding. It should be interesting. There is a lot of yelling in this play between the bride and the groom. It should be pretty funny. Of course there is a girl that is trying to stop the wedding. She is in love with the groom.
Gail, It is funny about Jenny’s niece thinking that it was hot dog day instead of Ground Hog day. Little ones can be so funny. I bet everyone got a big laugh out of that one. I found that out about the Goldbergs. Are they back to the regular shows now? I will have to try again and see if the real one is a lot better then that one was. I guess it was kind of confusing because I had not seen any of the previous shows. I do not know if I could do the computer classes at home. There is too much going on here now and that would not be good. I would lose my concentration. It is hard getting older and deciding what we want to do now.
Adele. We have not celebrated yet. We will this week-end. We will pick a day when we are all at home and can all celebrate at once. She will do really good at it and will enjoy having the lead. They all went out after the play tonight and had tacos. We just picked them up when they were done eating and talking to all of their friends. We are trying to keep things normal around here for them. Kylie is going to practice because the teacher asked her to come and help. She helped with the last play also. I will be praying that the day will be better and you will be able to get Tillie to the eye doctor. They will change it if need be I am sure. They probably not want either one of you out on a day like that. Thanks for the info I will have to try that the next time the computer does that.
Sue, I think that a lot of us root for different teams because of the are we live in. It was great that the Eagles won. I had heard a lot of people say that they thought they would. Congrats on their win.
DD, What good pictures of Tom. He is such a good looking man. We did not watch the game so did not see any of the commercials. We are not watching football anymore because of the way the Rams acted when they left Missouri. They could have been better about it.
We finally got some snow. Not much but some. We are supposed to get more tomorrow night and then again on Thursday. I just hope that they are right. If we do we will get at least 4 inches. That will be fun for all the kids.
Well that is about all from here. I hope that all of you have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi DD
my favorite commercial was the football players doing the dance from Dirty Dancing. It was hysterical. I could watch it a million times.
I did see the This is Us. So sad, and a reminder to everyone that smoke kills you, and sometimes it is not right away. That the EMT’s did not insist he go to the ER was the cause, as far as I am concerned. Fast treatment is so important. today, they would have put him in one of those” hyperbaric” things.
I recorded Fallon as we only saw the first few minutes- was too tired by then.
We are having a storm tomorrow- snow and ice. Totally gross.
Hope you keep having good weather, as it will eventually get over here.
Hope you have a good day!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
I bet you will all make some yummy things for the celebration. That is such an honor to have the lead role. She must be so excited, and I am thrilled for all of you!
I had to cancel Tillie’s appointment. They said we could move it one week, only, and no more than that. So, i need prayers that next week will be good weather. tomorrow, we are having snow, then ice, and very late it is supposed to change to rain. It will be a mess, and no way should she, or I be out there tomorrow. This is awful when you need to get to appointments, and the weather is not good.
I finally finished all the paperwork to go to the accountant to do our taxes. yahoo! My next big job is to start the new window valances that I ave for the living room. The material did not come in, in time for them to be done before the holidays. I have to make 6 huge valances. The hardest part on my back, is cutting the material. Since it is a stripe, that does make it easier, as there is no matching. When you have to match the fabric on each cut, that is beyond miserable…..LOL I am hoping to be done in 2 weeks, as I may need a little break in between valances. The living room is 3 walls of windows, so there is a huge amount of material, with 4 valances covering 2 windows, and 2 more for very wide windows, where the patio door is.
I hoe you are having a good day, and that your weather is good.

Hi Adele,
Well it ended up that we didn’t go to the Taste of ONP last night. It started snowing and it took Greg an hour and a half to get home yesterday instead of the normal 40-45 minutes. He said the roads were very slippery and we just didn’t want to take the chance. It probably would have been okay once we got to the tollway as there was less snow closer to the city but it was that 45 minute trip to the tollway which was problematic as many of the same roads are the ones that Greg took coming home so we already knew they were bad. Our friends had said we could spend the night at their house afterwards but the older we get the less we want to take the chance of having an accident or sliding off the road and being stuck in the zero degree temperatures. So we were looking forward to going but we have to consider safety first at this stage of our lives. Thirty years ago we would have gone without even thinking about it. Oh to be young and foolish again! lol
I didn’t see the picture of Brady sitting alone on the field. Who knows what is going through someone else’s mind at a time like that. He probably felt he let the team down and probably was thinking about that maybe this was his last chance-it is probably very emotion filled but you know sometimes you just have to suck it up and think about that stuff later and be a good sport and congratulate the other team too. If I were Giselle I sure would want him to retire now as I would be constantly worried that he will develop that brain disease is it CTE-I can never remember the initials-that football players get from getting too many concussions.
Yes i had my hair in rollers and my clothes all laid out when we decided to cancel yesterday. I was going to dress like Johnny Cash-I had black Joan Rivers pants with a black sequin tuxedo strip down the side, a black Quacker shirt with black sequins around the neck under a black Joan Rivers flowy cardigan with black sequin pockets. I would have been a walking QVC advertisement. lol Actually I usually am, down to my underwear and my sleepwear. If QVC ever went under I would be naked. lol Actually I probably have enough clothes that I really wouldn’t have to buy anymore anyway. lol
We are supposed to get snow every day this week through Saturday. This really sucks! I hope it stops for next week as I can stay home this week but next week I have a dentist appointment and a doctor appointment.
Gail -
Sue,
I wish you could move to Florida or somewhere that you didn’t have to deal with the ice and snow. Or at least be somewhere where your car could be indoors and the people responsible for the apartment shoveled and cleared the snow. That is so hard. I know I couldn’t do it anymore.
I know you are a big Penn State fan and thought you were an Eagles fan but wasn’t positive. That was a good game. I like to see the underdog win (unless of course they are playing the Bears) And it really is a Cinderella story with the back up quarterback taking them to the Super Bowl. Wasn’t his daughter cute with her bandana and her pink head phones. Even though she won’t remember it she can at least say she was there when her Daddy played quarterback and was MVP of the Super Bowl.
Gail -
HI DD,
Did you say a hedge hog predicts the weather in Oregon instead of a ground hog? I had never heard of that before.
I think I’m the only person in the country that doesn’t watch This Is Us. I have heard from everyone how good it is but i think I resisted because it is also very emotional and I didn’t want to watch a program where I am constantly choking back the tears-if that makes any sense. Heck it’s bad enough that parts of the book that I am reading right now are making me cry.
I didn’t see all the commercials-in fact I dozed off for a few minutes when the one Adele picked was being shown because Greg told me I missed it. In my defense I had cleaned house earlier in the day and then made dinner (Greg did help) and cleaning wears me out so I needed a ten minute nap I guess lol. I did like the commercial for The Voice when the puppies came out of the barrel especially and when Kelly had that long train. Also Carson said the calf peed on him during that filming.
One thing I disagreed with was using the words of MLK to sell Dodge Rams and I found out the next morning that a lot of others agreed with me as I heard a lot of negative feedback on that ad.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Well I will try again. We are having so much trouble with our internet connection. It comes and goes and apparently it was out when I tried to send my post to you. The joys of country living. lol
The play that Brook is in sounds funny. That was niece of the teacher to ask Kylie to help. Does Brook mind her being there? Has Kylie started her college courses yet?
We are getting snow every day with a foot predicted by the end of the week. I am getting a giant snow blower and blowing it all towards you since you want some. I am tired of winter. lol
Brent got test results back stating what we already know the electric impulses in his heart are out of whack so he is being sent to another cardiologist who specializes in that part of the heart. I think he is heading towards one of those ablations(I think that’s what they’re called)where they go in and burn something in the heart. We know some people that had that done successfully-one person had to have it done twice though. He still has to have the endoscopy and the thyroid test coming up-hopefully within the next couple weeks. Everyone please keep praying as we are inching towards results and solutions. They still have to figure out the drastic weight loss too.
Kids do say funny things when they misunderstand words. I wish I had written down the funny things our kids said as you think you will remember it all but you don’t. I do remember something funny I once said though. Years ago Dale Evans wrote a book about her daughter with Downs Syndrome called Angel Unaware. My Mom must have read it and was talking about it and it sounded interesting to me. So I went to the library ( I must have been 7 or 8) and asked the librarian to check out Angel “Underwear.” I can imagine she must have had to swallow her laughter. I’m sure she told my Mom about it as they were friends and my Mom told me when I was older and able to get the joke. Now that i think of it i am not sure if I ever got to actually read that darn book. lol
Gail -
Hi Gail,
I do agree about the commercial using MLK as a forum to sell trucks. I found that really strange. It still doesn’t make sense to me. Yes I did say we have a hedgehog. We don’t have ground hogs out here.
I remember that book by Dale Evans. We got it from a book club I believe.
Not much going on today.
take care.
dd -
Hi Adele,
I am not sure what we will have on Saturday. I may make a cake and put pudding on top instead of icing. She does not like icing. That is all that I can think of now.
I am glad that you can change the appointment and do not have to go out in the bad weather. That would be really hard on you and Tillie. Do you know how many more shots that she will have to have? I will be praying for Tillie. As long as she needs them.
I hate doing taxes. They are such a mess and you have to have so much information. You just feel like to tell them it is none of your business. I do not think that would work though. lol
I do not think there is anything that you cannot do. You are amazing. I cannot sew a stitch or bake that well. I guess that is because I do not do that much any longer. I use to bake a lot when the kids were small. I guess with just me and Ron there was no reason to bake. You have so many running in and out you still need to bake a lot. That is probably why they come you are such a good baker and cook.
I did see the commercial about the two men dancing together to I’ve had the time of my life. They showed that one on our news. They said that it was the number one so that is why they showed it. They were saying that there were a few of the commercials that did not make sense and they did not know what they meant. So I guess they were not good advertising for the people they were for.
We have had some snow here but not much. We are getting snow and ice here tonight and it is supposed to be a mess. The kids probably will not have school tomorrow. That is okay they can use the break and so can Ron. I think that he is tired of all the driving.
Well that is about all from here. I hope they are wrong about all the snow and ice you are supposed to get. They were talking about it on our news show here also. Gail said that they are getting snow all week and she is going to hook up a big fan and blow it our way.lol Now if you had a big fan and blew some our way then we are sure to have a lot of snow here. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could do that.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night. Be safe if you have to go out.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
Kylie is going to school but she only goes two days a week. She is doing some of her classes on the computer. She has been going to the college to do her classes on the computer. So sometimes she will go more then the two days.
You go ahead and blow that snow our way. We will be glad to get it. We have snow and ice here tonight but it is not supposed to be much. It is going your way and then off to Adele’s. If they would just leave us some snow it would be so nice. I am trying to talk Adele to blow some snow our way also. That would be really nice.
It sounds like this may be something that will help Brent and he will not have to keep dealing with this. That is good that they found that out but it is a shame that they took so long. It will be nice when they get the tests done on his thyroid done and they know what is going on with that. Most of the time that can be taken care of with a pill. I am still praying for him. We all are on here.
That is so funny that you were looking for a book called Angel Underwear. That poor librarian must have had a hard time not laughing. She did really good. My dad use to laugh because we use to watch a show that the host would come on and say Hello Buccaneers and so when he came home from work I looked at him and said Hello bucket ears. he always laughed about that. We should have kept a diary of the funny things that the kids said. It would be fun to look back not and tell them about it.
I am sorry that you did not get to go to your ONP dinner. It sounded like a lot of fun. Since we have gotten older we do not like to spend the night at anyone’s house. We always come back home and if we cannot we do not go. I do not know why we are like this but we are now. The outfit that you had picked out sounded really cute. It is a shame that you did not get to wear it. Maybe next year.
They talked about Brady sitting alone on the field and they were upset because he did not congratulate the winning quarter back.I figure that he did that later. It must have been hard on him to lose when he felt that the team and the fans were counting on him.No one has a way of knowing what he was thinking at that moment.
Well that is about all from here,. Have a great night and stay safe.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I did not realize that you do not have ground hogs in your area. Is the hedge hog good at predicting the weather? Probably like the ground hog and that is not that great.
Didn’t Dale Evans and Roy Rogers have a couple of kids with handicaps? I seem to remember reading something about that. They seemed to be such good people. I went thru a museum about Roy and Dale it was in Branson and they had all the furniture that they had in their house. They had a lazy susan in the middle of the table because there was so many of them it was easier then to pass it back and forth. They also had the horsed there. They were both stuffed. I do not know if I would want to stuff a dead animal. It just does not seem right.
Well that is about all from here.
have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Gail
That is such a shame that the weather stopped your good time at the ONP event. I hope it did not affect the fundraiser, and others were able to attend. So much goes into the planning of those events. Such a shame.
Your outfit sounded spectacular. You would have sparkled all over the place. We do have to keep ourselves safe, as none of us can risk a fall.
Well, it is 12:30 out here, and it is snowing like crazy. I could have never taken Tillie out today. So that was a good call. It is supposed to switch to ice within the next 2 hours. What a mess.
Maybe that pic of Brady will not be out there. that would be kind. We are all still waiting to hear why Butler was not played in the game. It seems to be a mystery. There are a lot of rumors, but he went on social media yesterday, and dispelled all the rumors. Butler was very upset his reputation was being tarnished, and said he has never violated curfew, or done anything wrong. This is a mystery, and Bellichek does not like to talk.
I am doing a new recipe in the crock pot today, and then making corn bread to go with.
I am hoping everyone gets home safely from work today. I will be a wreck until they are all home.
hope your day is good!
Adele -
Hey Gail and DD
I did not like the voice of MLK on the commercial either. he is my all time hero, and I don’t like him selling cars. Do not think he would like it, either.
Adele -
Gail
So sorry about Brent’s diagnosis with his heart. I hope they do the surgery you described, as it sounds like a simpler heart surgery. Is it, or am I mistaken? Anything with the heart is serious. he has been through so much, and does not deserve any more worries, or stress. I feel so bad for him. Some people just cannot catch a breath.
We will all continue to pray for him. Prayers work. We are also praying for you and Greg, as the worry must be driving you both nuts.
Love ya, Gailster!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
I wish I could blow the snow your way. Do not think you would want the ice, though….LOL
Read my post to Gail and Dd for all the info of the day.
I am not that amazing…..LOL, as you can see the pant hems I make form a mile away. I cannot do the ones you do not see- I only do the ones that ar eon casual pants, like jeans.
You cannot believe how big the snow flakes are right now. Huge!
I am doing a new porch chop crock pot recipe. We will see if the crew rejects it. I may reject all of them. I wish the chars in the kitchen had “eject buttons”. Wouldn’t that be funny, if when they complain, i pushed a button, and they went flying out of the kitchen? LOL LOL
Have you ever thought of just putting some sparkling color sugar on top of the cake, or a drizzle? Those would work.
So, I called Tillie at 1:00 pm, as I did not hear her downstairs, and she was still sleeping. Really?
Hope you get some good snow out of the storm today, so the girls can make a snowman with Ron.
Adele -
Hey girls…..
I forgot to tell you Rob Gronkowski’s house was robbed while he was at the Super Bowl. Seriously?? Do the robbers know he could squish them in one hand??
Adele -
Hi DD,
So you don’t have groundhogs. That is so interesting. I also know that you don’t have lightening bugs from Debbie telling us that. I wonder what other wildlife we have that you don’t and vice versa.
Those flowered dishes are sooooo pretty!
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Jenny took some online classes too when she was in college. It’s funny some kids want to go away to college and she never did even though we would have paid for it. She went to Rockford business collage for two years and then finished her BA with night classes and online classes. So you never know what Kylie will decide to do. As long as the kids go to school I am happy. Brent never did finish his degree and I think some day he will regret that.
I like the story about the bucket ears. That made me laugh.
I don’t think we saw the Roy Rogers Museum in Branson. Of course there’s so much to see and do that you can’t see it all in one trip.
Greg usually likes to come home too but in this case we would have stayed at our friends just because it would have been late and the weather was bad. We always used to have to get back home because of the dogs but now we don’t have to worry about that. It’s kind of happy and kind of sad. Every week I still look through the pictures of the dogs up for adoption at our local no kill shelter.
Gail -
Adele,
I posted to you twice but our crappy internet connection won’t put it through. I will try again tomorrow.
Gail -
Hey DD
Wow- no lightning bugs. Those are so cool. We all caught them as children, and our kids did too. do you have anything like them?
Adele -
Hey Gail….hope your internet is back up and working.
Up here, they are afraid of trees falling, and power going out, due to all the ice- it is pouring “ice” right now. Ill have to cancel the tax appointment too,as this will last, due to the cold. i hate ice.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
ITKWD is wrapping up with the TSV. The colors are sooooo pretty. If I was in the market for a cookware set, I couldn’t make a choice of color!!!Adele, would you PLEASE send some of that snow out here???!!!! The snowpack in the mts is almost gone. Mt Hood is starting to look a bit barren. If we don’t get some more snow in the mts, our water supply for the summer will be affected. I didn’t expect we’d have a winter like we had last yr, but this is getting worrisome.
We don’t have Cardinals, which I wish we did! I’m sure there are other wildlife, such as reptiles you have in the South that we don’t have up here. No lightning bugs for sure. We lived next to a grass field growing up & I used to catch grasshoppers, & picked flowers from the field & put em on my mud pies. Or a bouquet for my mom. Now its illegal to pick those flowers.
I heard about the robbery on the news. My question is where was the security system??? I’d think someone that has a home like that would have a security system in place.
I believe Roy Rogers & Dale Evans adopted a child with special needs at some point. They may have adopted more, but I;m not sure.
Well, I don’t have anything else so I’m signing off for now.
dd -
Hi Adele,
I would take all the snow that you could send. Don’t really need any ice we cannot use that. I do not like that all the snow is going around us. I would take some from you, Gail and Sue.
I wish that I could see the snow flakes. If they would just fall here. Maybe we could change places for the winter and the snow would be in my yard. Brook likes to look at the snow flakes as they come down. She was talking about how they are all different. She love to be outside. She goes for a walk in the evenings even with it being cold here. She likes cold weather like I do.
The pork chops recipe sounds good. I really like pork chops. I like that idea of the chairs that would eject the people that complain about the food. It would be funny to watch them go flying away from the table. I bet that they would not complain about the food anymore. If they started you could just lift up the thing that you push to eject them and they would change their minds about the food. lol
I will have to try that and see if she likes that any better. Maybe I could use sprinkles on the cake. She use to like them on cookies. She use to put so many on the cookies you could not find the cookie. lol Thanks for the idea.
Maybe it was so cold and it was snowing and she just did not feel like getting up in the morning. Tillie must have been really tired. Does she sleep in like that very often. She may have stayed up really late at night and that could have caused her to sleep late. That would be fun to sleep in like that.
I hope that the you do not have any power outages there. Make sure that you have a lot of warm blankets to keep you warm and a lot of layers of clothes.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
I wonder how many classes Kylie can take online since she is studying to be a doctor. She may be able to take some of the basic classes but not a lot of the main ones. She will not have to go that far away to go to college just into St. Louis if she gets accepted. We just keep hoping that she will be able to go to the college that she wants to go to.
I do not know how long the Roy Rogers museum was there in Branson. I think that they moved it back to California after so long. We would not have know about it but someone that was staying at the hotel that we were at told us about it. They had a lot interesting things in there. We took a lot of pictures. It was on a regular camera wish that we would have taken them on our phones.
It is just a shame that you missed your dinner though. I know that you have supported the ONP for a long time. It is hard to miss an event like that when you were really looking forward to it.
Well that is about all from here. We have not been doing much. I have to go to have blood work done tomorrow I hat that you cannot eat or drink after midnight. If your throat gets dry you just have to put up with it. They take blood so much when you have diabetes.
Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
You are lucky that you do not have the snakes that we have here. They scare me and I do not want to go out in the spring when they are coming out of their holes. They say that is when they are the most poisonous. Not as bad at the end of summer. Which does not make a person feel any better.
I thought that Cardinals were found all over the USA. This is interesting to find all of this out. When we were kids we would take the light off the tail of the lightning bugs and put them on our fingers. We thought that they looked like diamonds. That is sad that you cannot pick the flowers anymore. It would be nice to have a bouquet of wild flowers.
It is sad that we cannot leave our homes without worrying about being robbed. They would not bother here we do not have anything here worth stealing. I agree with you it seems like he would have had a security system in place unless they knew how to turn it off.
I will have to look that up about Roy and Dale. I thought they always seemed like such nice people. They were always so respectful of people when you saw them on tv for personal appearances.
Like all the pictures that you posted, They are so pretty and cheerful.
Have a great night.
Colleen -
DD,
Ho Ho no Cardinals! Do I have a gift for you. I have a very special one that i can send your way. He’s been beating against our family room window for about five years now. Seriously they are pretty birds and they seem to hang in male/female pairs. But they are birdbrains for sure.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
The internet has been going in and out for about two weeks now so you never know when you will have it.
I’m sure the ONP event was well attended as we probably live the farthest away. Most people that went live right in the city 20 minutes away from the place. We weren’t worried about falling as much as driving all the country roads to get to the tollway. They can get pretty slippery if the snow piles up or the wind is blowing and then you also have less visibility with the snow and the dark.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Brent. Nothing has really been decided yet. I was just giving my uneducated opinion based on some people that we know. I was playing Doctor Granny if you remember her from the Beverly Hillbillies. Anyway, I am hoping before the month is out that all the tests will be done and we have some plan of action. I am so glad that Brent has Wendy there with him.
I did hear about Gronk and was wondering about a security system too. It’s probably better that they weren’t home as the robbers could have had a weapon and someone could have gotten hurt.
Did you guys hear about the DWTS tour bus being involved in a pileup on the highway in Iowa going to a tour date. I think everyone on the bus was okay besides being shook up but a young woman in a car died. I think it was snowy conditions that contributed t it.
We are getting 6 to 10 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow. So Sue and Adele it will probably eventually be coming your way. Colleen, I will be getting out the giant fan.
Gail -
Adele,
Love the idea of the ejection chairs. I would love to see that. lol
I don’t blame Tillie. Sometimes on nasty days I feel like I could stay in bed all day. She’s old enough that she has earned the right to stay in bed all day if she feels like it.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I am going to try and blow some more snow your way. We are supposed to get a bunch again.
Yes if Kylie gets into med school she will definitely have to go to classes. But I imagine the first couple of years she can still take the online classes since she is just starting out.
Brent said they have had no rain or snow where he is in 106 days. That is a long time to be dry.
I was supposed to get blood work too but have put it off since I really wanted to stay away from all the germs in the hospital since I can’t get a flu shot. I have a doctor’s appointment next week and will get the blood work then and that way I will only have one exposure to all the germs instead of two. I don’t have to fast for this test though so that’s a good thing.
Gail -
Hi DD
I am constantly amazed at the wildlife and vegetation that is different in the different areas of this country. Wow, is all I have to say. I expect it between the north and south, but not in areas with similar climates, where they seasons change.
I have that same question. they said he has 2 housemates, and they left a few days after Gronk left. So, I think someone forgot to set the alarm. they also said they got in through a broken window (which they probably broke to get in) . The police are being very quiet about it, saying they do not want to release the info so the thieves can be caught. He has a big fence around his house, and the neighbors thought it was odd that on Sunday, the gate was left open, and it is never open. They must have left through the gate.
I wish I could send you some snow. how about some ice, as the whole street is covered in ice today?? LOL LOL
Love your pics!!
Have a good day…..
Adele -
Hi colleen
Well, the entire table would have been ejected, including me. this one just did not work. it did not give the meat a lot of flavor, and the apples disappeared into the sauce a little too much. So, this is not a keeper. They ate almost the entire pan of corn bread….LOL
Well we are covered in ice over here. The street is a mess , but some is melting as the sun is out. We are all lucky the power stayed on, and that is always good.
That is nice to take a walk in the evening. It must be real pretty as the stars would be visible in your area. It is nice to see the kids love nature.
My friend Joyce lost a friend, who had blood cancer. She is trying to deal with her loss. Her funeral is this weekend. very sad.
the sun is shining brightly today. yahoo!!
Tillie is up, and moving, so that is good too.
hope your day is going well.
Adele -
Hey Gail
that is funny that you call the road the tollway. We call them highways, even the Mass Pike that is a toll road, is not called a tollway- just the “Pike”.
I don’t blame you about being concerned about the roads. We are too old, and do not walk well enough to walk through snow, if we have to when stranded.
I am worried about Gary today. This is the day he is in southern NH, seeing our customers up there. They got about a foot of snow, and ice on top of that. He can only get up there once a week, so he felt he had to go today, as we had orders for the customers that they need. Gary did not go out yesterday. Frankie did get his route done, with no incident, so that was good. The ice did not really get going until after the evening rush hour.
Oh, oh….your snow will be coming this way. I heard it will be rain Saturday night, into Sunday. I hope it stays rain. We are supposed to go out with our friends on Saturday. I hope we can do a late lunch, so we miss all the mess.
No need to thank us for the prayers, as we all do it form the good of our hearts. We just hope they work. It is awful when our kids have something wrong, and there is nothing we can do. Makes us feel helpless.
I did hear about the DWTS bus, but they never said if any of them were hurt. I did not know a woman died. that is sad. there have been so many bus accidents up here, as they have not been cancelling schools lately. So far, no child has been seriously hurt, just a lot of property damage.
Who do you have as an internet provider? We have the internet with our cable company- Comcast/Xfinity.
Hope the snow is not as bad as they predicted for you!
Adele -
Hey Gailster……I may have to invent one of those ejection chairs…..LOL
So, Bobby was quite happy last night after he realized nobody liked the new crock pot recipe. He said he is always the “bad guy”.
Adele -
Hello dear friends. I know you all have been praying for us; and it has really helped to know you care. Neal called one night on his was home from work. It was a “good” talk, but no mention of anything except his job; weather; you know, small talk. But I just kept saying little comments on how I cook roast in the crock pot vs. the oven; how very cold it has been here; nothing of any substance; but a huge step just that he picked up the phone and called us. He talked about 10 mins. and then said Sarah was calling him and he had to take that; so I quickly said “we love you son, and be sure and kiss our baby for us” and off he was. We heard nothing else until last night and he facetimed us and we got to see the baby and we did our usual play games, sing to him, ask him where his belly button is, you know; we acted just like we always have. Sarah was there sitting on the sofa; we said “hello Sarah, how you doing?” but she didn’t answer. The baby just played and played and seemed so happy for us to be clapping when he would do a little trick for us. He threw us kisses. So all of your prayers were answered in that he has called us the one time and after almost a month let us see the baby. We have no idea when we will hear anything again. But we are so grateful for what has happened. Gail, Jerry and I have gone over and over has there EVER been a time that we mislead or even “white lied” to Neal that would make him wonder if we didn’t tell the absolute truth; and we just can’t. But we are still just so heartbroken about this whole ordeal. Only time will tell where this will go; but the pain for us and for him will always be there I feel. And I do think he has been so hurt and confused knowing we would not lie to him under any circumstances. I was SO proud of Jerry for saying to Neal when this all began; I don’t think I will ever forget his words to Neal. He sent Neal by email two pictures that we had made by that photographer. One was of the baby sitting in his little wagon and the other was Jerry and me holding him standing in the middle of our tree lined drive to our house, and he wrote to Neal that nothing he had said to him mattered as much as the baby, and his taking care of his family; up to and including leaving him and me in the past and living his life with his precious family. He told Neal that he, Jerry, has always just spoken his mind, and he knows him and that he loves Neal and he and I will always be proud of him no matter what. I don’t think I have ever seen Jerry so hurt as we have faced this time without them. But hope is slightly visable; so here’s hoping. Love to all, Barbara

Hi Barbara
I was just about to close the laptop for the night, and there you were. Of course, I could not wait until tomorrow to read your post.
I am so glad you finally got to face time little Colin. All our prayers were answered. I hope this is the beginning of a healing for you, Jerry and Neal. The conversation Jerry had, via email was very touching. I am sure that got to Neal, and he realized your love for him has not changed, nor does your explanation of any given situation. But, he still has to be loyal to his wife, whihc his dad also told him. So, Neal knows his loyalty to his wife, will not create a problem for the two of you. That is good too.
That being said, I feel that Sarah being in the background was on purpose. She wanted to hear what you were saying, and let you know she is there. So be it. She would never hear anything from either of you that would impact any future visits with the baby, in person, or on line. So, she can be there for all future visits, as neither of you would ever say anything negative about her, nor to Neal, and especially not to the baby. We can hope she gives the two of you that same respect.
Trying to work out a relationship with any DIL can be so terribly stressful. It seems every word is dissected, and rearranged to suit the need of the moment. It is as if every DIL tries to make the “fantasy miserable MIL” a reality. They are just not comfortable with having a good relationship with their MIL’s. It seems un-American to them. It is a shame, as a wonderful relationship with the mother of your husband can be such a good thing. You can learn so much from the woman who loves your husband as much as you do.
I will continue praying for you and Jerry to continue interacting/visiting with Colin, talking to your son, and maybe, just maybe, a breakthrough with Sarah, so she does not feel so threatened by her husband’s family. I still have hope, and I do believe in miracles. Small ones, and big ones….which ever the Good Lord wants to throw at us.
We love you Barbara. We are all family here. We have all been through similar things, and we know how it feels. We all feel for each other. We got you, girlfriend!
Love, Adele…your Quacker Sister -
Hi Barbara,
I read your post tonight & I’m so glad that Neal called & did face time with the baby. I’ve been praying that Neal would realize it would hurt the baby if he kept Colin from you. It’s a good start to healing. I’ll keep praying for you & Jerry & your family. I believe in miracles.Gail,
I thought you’d like to get rid of your Cardinal, lol.
Adele,
I saw on the news there’s yet another storm headed your way. There’s a big bubble of high pressure over us on the West coast & that’s why you’re getting all the storms. It pushes all the weather around us up & over then down to over you guys. If that bubble would pop then we would get some of the storms off the Pacific. That’s why it’s so dry out here.
Jewell’s sitting near the kitchen which means she wants something to eat. She’ll sit just outta my line of vision & wait for me.
that’s all for tonight.
ddPS: Google Roy Rogers & Dale Evans & you’ll find out a lot of info on them. All about their baby, their adopted children, etc.

Hi Gail,
I just wish that you cold blow snow our way. When I went for the blood test today the girl that drew my blood said that she was wanting just one good snow this year. We have another chance this week-end but I doubt that it will happen. Ron thinks that I am crazy for wanting snow so bad. All of the kids enjoy the snow so much so we need some.
106 days is a long time to go without rain or snow. I hope that they get some soon. Is he still in New Mexico or did he move to a different state? I do not know why I thought you said that he moved. I may have him confused with someone else.
When I went to get the blood work done there was only one other person in the waiting room. So it was not too bad. They always have you come in really early when you are fasting. I like the idea of it because you are so dry and hungry by the time you get there you want to just get if over with. They took 4 tubes of blood today. That is so aggravating to have them do that. I do not know why they took so many.
I read that about the dwts tour bus accident. They were really lucky that no one got hurt. The article that I read showed a picture of all the people that were on the bus. They had the stars that were winners on the last show with them. That was so sad that one girl got killed. Snow and ice are not good to travel on. I wonder why they did not fly to where they were going. Maybe it would be too expensive to fly everyone.
Well that is about all from here. Will be praying for Brent and hoping that they decide what to do for him soon.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I hope that Gary got home okay today. It is scary when they have to go out in the bad weather and go someplace where the roads may be worse then where you live. It would be a hard decision but you have to keep your customers happy.
That is a shame that your dinner did not turn out. At least you did not care for it either. It is different if you do not like it you cooked it. It is a good thing that you made corn bread. Did they look for left overs in the fridge?
That is a mess to be covered in ice. I hope that the sun melted some of it and it does not get so cold that it refreezes tonight. That can really be a mess. Hope that you get to go out to dinner or lunch this week-end. It will be so disappointing if you do not.
Brook just gets bored here and wants to go outside. She likes to walk thru the woods but the other day she got lost. I had told her that if she ever gets lost just head for the road. It is easy to find you can hear the cars and see them since the trees have no leaves. She found her way home so that is all that matters.
That is so sad that your friend Joyce lost her friend to cancer. I will add her to the prayer list. It is just so hard to lose a friend and to cancer. It seems like we are losing a lot of friends to cancer here lately.
That was good advise about a dil. I have never had one so do not know how it is with them. Barbara sure did get one that does not care about Neal’s family. That is a shame Barbara is so nice. She would be really good to Sarah if she would let her.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am so glad for you and Jerry. Neal did let you have some face time with Colin. I am guessing the way Sarah was acting when you said hi to her that Neal did believe Jerry. Maybe she finally told him the truth about all that happened. Neal really loves you and Jerry and I do not think that anything that Sarah does will stop that. You have been so good to your sons and they all know it.
Sounds like you had some good face time with Colin. That is fun that you got to play games with him. He really loves you and always will. That is nice what Jerry said to Neal. That was the best thing that he could have said. Maybe things will get better now that it all out. You never know. I will still be praying that all goes well for you and Jerry.
Colleen -
Hi DD
I love the pic of the kittens. Who can resist a cute kitten?
we are getting another storm- tomorrow night into Sunday. It is supposed to be rain, but they think the start may be ice- not sure yet.
We are supposed to go out with our friends, for a late birthday celebration for me. I hope it does not shift to earlier in the day, and ice, as that would stop the outing. It is already very overcast here- no sun at all.
I am glad you are getting nice weather.
How is your friend Kate?
Hope your day is going well.
Adele -
Hi Colleen
I feel the same way you do. Barbara would be a great MIL, if she gave her the chance. I would have loved to have her as my MIL. I was lucky. I had a nice MIL ( my x), and I called her my MIL until she died a few years ago. I invited her to all the kids’ events, as well as the aunts and uncles, and my x.
That must have been scary for Brook. Did she seem frazzled when she got back? Has she continued to do her evening walks? I would have been scared when I got back…LOL
I would say everyone had their share of evening snacks that night….LOL
Joyce goes to the wake tonight, and the funeral tomorrow. She is very sad. I know how she feels, as I still miss Maxine terribly. I told her I could not bring myself to eliminate Maxine’s name, when I transferred the phone numbers over to my new 2018 appointment book.
Gary said the roads up in NH were covered with ice in a lot of places. His van is old, and he does not like to go out if there is ice or snow. I was glad when he was back on the highway, on his way home. He us tired today, and we are doing nothing.
We are getting a storm tomorrow night again- supposed to be rain. But, they are saying it could start as ice. So, I plan on going out for an earlier, rather than later dinner tomorrow with Al and Winnie.
Hope your day is bright and sunny!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I liked my mil sometimes but no all the times. The problem was we lived so far away from them that we did not see them that much. They never came to visit us so we only saw them when we went down there. My mom and dad use to come to our house when we lived in Rockford and so the kids knew them a lot better. Mom was always there for all the fun things that they did when they were kids.
Brook still goes for walks even though she got lost. After I told her to always just look for the road and she will be alright. So that is what she does. We have lived here long enough that once she gets on the road she knows where she is at. She also tells which direction that she is going to go walking. So we kind of know where she is at.
I hope that Joyce will be okay going to the wake. Hope she did not have to go alone. That is hard when you have to go by yourself.I will say another prayer for her. Well I will pray for her until you tell me that she is okay.
Thank God that Gary got home okay last night. That is terrible when you have to travel on the roads when they are that bad. At least he is at home and you do not have to worry. Just hope that you get to go to lunch with your friends, It will be nice to get out before the weather gets really bad. Have a good time and enjoy your lunch.
I have a friends name in my address book and she died in the 90’s. We were really close and I am godmother to her son. We never see him anymore though and I miss seeing him. She lived with us for awhile when her and her husband divorced. We loved having there with us. So if you want to keep it in there you should do that. You will know when you are ready to take it out. You may be like me and never want to take it out.
We are supposed to get an ice storm tonight and tomorrow night. We have not had anything so far. Just hope that we never do. It would if it would be snow. that I could take and would love. I guess that we do not get a choice. If we did you probably would send all your snow my way.lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
the ice storm you got will be rain for us- tonight into tomorrow. It is supposed to start aorund sun down, so i hope it is not too bad before we get home. We are meeting Al and Winnie at 4:30.
I am glad your granddaughter tells you the direction she is goign, just in case. Today, you just get scared when kids are out by themselves. A sad time we live in, for sure. When we were little, we were out all the time, and nobody worried.
thank you for the prayers for Joyce. Her son was goign with her to the wake, and her husband was goign to the funeral, so she at least will not have to drive. It is awful when our friends begin to die.
A little while ago, I wrote “I miss you”, on Maxine’s facebook page. I just needed to write to her that day. I still have recipes I copied from her, that have notes from her on them. She sent them by email. I am so sorry I delete all emails, as I would have loved to ave some of her old ones to read. Then again, how many emails can you save???
Tomorrow, I am doing a small prime rib, as we will celebrate Valentine’s Day Sunday. Wednesday on Valentine’s Day, Tillie has her shot. So that will be a quiet evening, as she sleeps when we get home. I will make a soup the next day, I think as she will like that. I will make cookies on Tuesday, for Valentine’s. I hate that I have to do all this planning aorund everything, as it gets crazy. I gnat Tillie to have something on Valentine’s as you never know when it is a last one, for any of us.
I wish I could send all the snow storms your way….LOL
Have a good day, and I hope you did not get a lot of ice!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I hope that yours stays all rain. We have some ice on the ground now but not as bad as we thought. We will see in the morning when we take Mandy to work. She has to be there at 8 in the morning and so if it is going to be bad that will be the time. It is supposed to be sleet here until in the afternoon and then it is supposed to be sunny out. She needs to go to the store so I hope that the weather will be good enough for her to go.
I am glad that Joyce will not have to go alone. That is not a good time to have to be alone. That is nice that her son will go with her. Then her husband to the funeral. I do not like to go to either. Since working in the nursing home it is just too much to go and sit thru that.
That probably will help you thru this time. It is nice to be able to write to them or just talk to them. I use to talk to Joann all the time. I sometimes talk to my dad so that is how strange I am. It is always good to just talk to them even though they cannot answer. I feel like they are there.
Your dinner sounds really good. That is nice that you are having it early so Tillie can enjoy it also. That is just so nice that you are making sure that she will have Valentines day celebration even if it is not on the day. It does not matter what day you celebrate it on . You show your family love every day of the week. You are so good about taking care of them and making sure that you celebrate all the special days no matter when you have to do it. That makes everyone in the family feel special.
We would take the snow but you can have the ice. The weather here is crazy. It is going to be cold a couple more days then get up in the 60’s and then drop down to the 30’s again and more snow and ice. I cannot believe it is doing this. It has been a long time since we have been in the 60′ s in February.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
I am attaching a pic of one of the whoopie pies. I got them done a while ago. Bobby said he wants to get the dinner in the oven, so that is fine with me….LOL
We got home before it poured, so that was good. It was nice to see Winnie and Al. Also nice to get home before it poured. It is still raining but not pouring like it did last night.
Talked to Joyce last night. She is very sad, and that is expected. This is the second fried she has lost. the last one was over 10 years ago.
I talk to my Dad too…and my Nonna, aunts, Maxine, and everyone else. I know they hear me. I believe they watch over us every day. They are our Angels in heaven. There will be a day when there are more Angels in Heaven than those down here with is. Not looking forward to that day.
Thank you for your kind words. I try my best to do what I can. Since I have retired, I have been cooking and baking a lot more. I missed being home to do cook nice meals, and bake on a cold day. It was not easy goign to work in all kinds of weather in the last few years that I worked. So, I appreciate having the time to be home, and do what I like to do, on any given day. It is a new found freedom that I am thoroughly enjoying….accept when they complain…..LOL
I hope the weather was good for you to take your granddaughter to the store, and to work. This has been a challenging winter. But, we have not had as much snow as we usually get. It has been a few inches, and then ice, and rain. Very weird, as we usually have it as all snow.
Hope your Sunday is goign well!

Adele I wish you luck getting these girls to understand what a whoopi pie is & is not. Maybe the photo will help. They think it is like the moon pie they buy at the store which is a whole different thing. No one knows what half moon pies are either. Do you? My mom made a lot of them & they are not apple turnovers totally different.
-
Hi Ladies,
I’m one of those that doesn’t know the difference between a whoopee pie & other copy cats. Oh well, what can I say. It looks like an over sized Oreo, made from type of cake. I have no clue how you’d make em. Have to say they look delish.Hi Sue,
I hope you’re feeling better now. It’s been good to see you come back, that way we know you’re still with us when you get on here.
Kay was supposed to come home this weekend, but her therapists thought she needed another week of therapy to make sure she’s ready to
come home. I think she’s bored.
I’ve been watching some of the Olympics, but I don’t like everything in the winter games. I’m mostly interested in the figure skating.
Well, that’s all I have for tonight.
Have a grrrreat week.
dd -
Hi Adele,
The whoopies pies that you make look really good. I bet everyone really enjoyed them. We have moon pies here but they are made from cookie like shell with chocolate over them with cream in the middle. So they are a lot different then the whoopie pies. What was Bobby going to cook in the oven? I bet it was something good.
My daughter had to work today. My granddaughter has not got a job yet. She is going to wait until after the play that she is in is all over with. She would have to take off to practice and not go in at all while she was in the play. That would be hard with a job. The roads were slick but we have four wheel drive so it was not too bad for Ron to drive in. They have canceled the schools for tomorrow already. I understand they do not want all the kids on buses and driving on the slick roads. It is really cold here. They expected it to get warmer but they were wrong.
I do not talk to my aunts but my grandma sometimes. My one aunt died when I was 5 so do not remember her that much. She was really sweet and did a lot for us but that is all that I remember. The other two died a lot later but we were not close after we moved to Illinois. We kind of lost contact with all of them. They were all busy with things that they were doing there and we were busy where we were. We did send Christmas cards and things like that but we never saw each other.
I can remember having to drive to work in all kinds of weather. It is a pain to have to drive when their are storms in the area or snow. It is not bad after it all settle down and you can get around better. The weather in your area is a lot worse then what we get so it would have been harder for you.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Everyone, I have a question that maybe one of you can answer. The symbol for Captcha keeps popping up on my computer when I am on this site. Then it will tell me that I need to contact them. I have no idea how to contact them or why it keeps popping up. I know it is that thing that asks if I am a robot but that is all that I know about them. Can any one help me with this one. It is strange.
Thanks
Colleen -
Hi Everyone,
It’s been a challenging weekend with the wi-fi. Right now we are using our phones for a hot spot in order to get online. Someone’s supposed to come out but God only knows when that will be. Adele, you asked who the provider was-it’s Verizon. When you live out in the country you can’t get your wifi through a cable company as that doesn’t exist out here. We had a similar problem a couple of years ago when they did some sort of updates so we’ll see what they do now.
Colleen, I have that Captcha thing in the corner of my screen all the time now but it doesn’t ask me to do anything. I would just ignore it as long as it’s not interfering with your posting.
I think they normally take three tubes for my bloodwork. I always turn my head the other way. I don’t mind doing it but I don’t particularly like to look.
I’m with the rest of you. I talk to my dead parents and also to my dead pets. So we’re all a little weird. lol
Adele, you are getting lots of ice and rain this winter. We ended up with about a foot of snow from Friday through Sunday. Jenny thought we weren’t coming over Friday because of the snow and then when I called she said all three kids had the flu last week so we decided to stay home anyway. Actually we went to go out and get something to eat but the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed for some reason so we ended up somewhere else.
The whoopie pies look good. I thought i knew what they were but then Sue confused me with the half moon pies and such. I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever eaten a whoopie pie. They make me think of Whoopie Goldberg. lol They are not really big in this area. I always associate them with Amish country-although there are quite a few Amish more in the middle of Illinois.
Is Valentine’s day also Ash Wednesday. For some reason I think it is but maybe I am mixed up.
For the dog lovers Westminster is on today and tomorrow. I will have to copy it and watch it between the Olympics.
Adele, you had some wise things to say to Barbara.
Barbara, I’m so glad that Neal Skyped with you guys and you got to see Colin. I agree Sarah was in the room because she wanted to hear what went on. How rude that she said nothing back when you greeted her. I wonder what her parents would think of her behavior. If that was my daughter i would be embarrassed if she acted like that.
I understand that most young women will feel closer to their own mother just because of the shared back ground but I also think that you would want to be at least friendly to your MIL. I was lucky and got along well with my MIL and my DIL. I don’t think Jenny is as close to her MIL as she is to me but they get along fine. I am like Adele and will keep praying and I believe a miracle could happen too.
DD, glad that Kay will be coming home soon.
Gail -
Hey Sue…..LOL LOL
Yes, I do as they are Gary’s and Steph’s favorite. I think the names are regional names. The half moons here are a cookie/cake like big round shape with white frosting on one half side and chocolate on the other. Some people call them “black and white”s” too.
The whoopie pies up here in the north, are a little like the Hostess treat that looks like a hot dog, with chocolate cake outside, and with the white cream inside. the home made whoopie pies are more delicate in the cake/cookie outside. The inside is made with unsalted butter, Crisco, sugar vanilla and milk. You have to boil the milk with a little flour and cook until it is a paste. then, you add the rest of the ingredients, and whip it up until it is soft and pliable, then make your sandwich cookies out of 2 of the chocolate cake spheres.
I wonder if the half moons are the same in your area????
Hope your day is going well, and so glad you are backon here!
Adele -
Hey DD!
You are pretty much correct on the whoopie pie. It is a cake like shell, very chocolaty- a devils food cake would be a good description. The cake is dense enough to make a sandwich out of it, and the center is softer than the center of an oreo- very creamy, when home made.
I got the recipe form the Yankee Magazine years ago. I think you could google it. They are not hard to make at all.
I hope you are having a good day. The sun is shining up here, and the weather will be good for Wednesday, so I am thrilled.
I am making soup today for Tillie, as I know she will not feel like eating something big before she goes, and after she comes home on Wednesday. Making it today, as tomorrow I am making chocolate chip cookies for Valentines day.
I have not been watching the Olympics. We watched the Hallmark movies on Friday Saturday and Sunday nights, and the shows we had recorded.
Adele
PS….so good to hear your friend Kay is getting better. That is fabulous news! -
Hi Colleen
Read my other posts for the description of whoopie pies. They are big up here. Every area seems to have their own favorites.
it was a pain going out in all kinds of weather. I froze doing home visits, all over the place. In and out of the car all day long, in all kinds of weather. It was nice being on the road when the weather was good, as you could enjoy the sun and sights. Rain was the worst….LOL
I bet you are all excited about the play. How fabulous that she has the lead. Is she excited too? Doe she get nervous before the play?
That is awful that you did not knwo your aunties or grandma. I loved my Aunties, and my Nonna. I think about them all the time. they played such an important role in my life. My Auntie Sarah loved to bake, and I loved to watch and help her. She let me lick the bowl….LOL
Oh, the memories we all have of when we were little. Good times, when things were simpler, and life was clean. Remember the TV shows never had a married couple in a double bed? I have laughed for years and said that TV went to Hell in a hand basket when they started to show Tampon commercials on TV…LOL LOL
Adele -
Colleen
I have never heard of that phrase. It may be a fishing thing, or a virus, so be careful.
Adele -
Hey girls….
Colleen- forgot to say, Bobby made the prime rib, roasted potatoes and roasted asparagus. I was goign to just bake the potatoes. So, he took over.
Gail-
We all talk to our Angels in heaven. I often wonder what people would think if they heard me carry on an entire conversation all by myself.
I remember when we were in NH you got internet only through a phone line. I wonder if it is different up there now, as it has been a while since we went every weekend.
So, some days I have wise words, and others amusing ones. One can never tell which skill makes it to the forefront on any given day. I just hope I provide some comfort to all of us when we are in pain. I know you all do for me, and that is much appreciated.
Ash Wednesday is Valentine’s Day. that does not seem fair to those who still fast. Fasting is not good when it is a high chocolate holiday.
I would have passed on a Friday visit too, had I known they all were getting over the flu. That is too scary for us oldies but goodies.
I am beyond thrilled that the weather Wednesday will be clear. My Angels are taking care of us on Valentine’s Day, for Tillie.
I hope the snow melts quickly, so you will not get any ice patches to worry about. It was in the high 40’s here yesterday- imagine??
Adele
PS….did anyone see that cool electric gadget on ITKWD yesterday, that rices the potatoes- got one!! -
Hi Colleen,
I’m with Adele on this. be verrrrrry careful!!!! The only time I’ve ever had something on this site was when I had to sign in again, but it’s between the last post & the box where I write my post. It’s not a popup on the screen. It’s in a box that says ‘You must be logged in to reply to this topic.’
I’ve never had a popup tell me I had to contact them. Not on any site I log onto. Never heard of Captcha either. Nothing even close or similar. Just be extremely careful. There’s a lot of criminals that make things seem real when they’re not.
dd -
Hi DD
I am with you on this. There are a lot of thieves aorund.
Tillie got a call asking her to call the IRS, as they are looking for her, and she is about to get arrested. I told her the IRS knows where she lives, and reminded her the phone is under my name, not hers..LOL Do you believe that? I know she knows it is a scam, but, she got scared anyway. I hate thieves.
Adele -
Hi Gail,
That is scary our internet is thru Verizon also. I hope that we do not start having problems again. They are about the only company that we can go thru here also. Our satellite company does not have internet here. The only kind that we can get thru them is the dial up and that is not worth the money. It is slower then molasses.
My blood count was not good again this time so I have to go back on Monday and have another one. My white count is off again. That happens a lot and they have to redo it and then it is okay again. I do not understand why it does it but that is how it is.
So you got all the snow and we just go the ice. We would have shared with you. I just keep hoping that we will get some snow before winter is over. We are so willing to share out weather with others and we get not help at all.lol
That is good that you did not go to see the grands over the week-end. You sure do not want to end up with the flu. We have the flu going around here. So far Ron and I have not caught it just the kids. I had the flu shot so I should not get it or get it as bad as the others do. Just wish they would have all got the shot.
I never felt close to my in-laws but always wanted my kids to. They are part of their family. It was just really hard when we moved to Illinois and they did not come to visit. That is all water under the bridge now.
Well that is about all from here. have a great night.
Colleen
p.s. How is Brent doing? -
Hi Adele,
We have cakes like that here but they do it two different ways. Some will have white and chocolate icing and the other are white and chocolate cake. They are both half and half and they both are really good. They call ours black and white are half and half.
I am ready to eat the whoopie pies. Just wish we all knew that you were making them. We would have rode over on our brooms and had some. We use to have a plane but Deb kept that one so now we have to use our brooms. Not saying anyone is a witch. lol
I know what you mean about going to peoples home and getting in and out of the car. I worked for a home health company for awhile but quit because I did not like doing all that traveling. Especially if they lived way out in the country. The roads were hard to get thru and it was a mess.
Brook does get nervous before the play and worries during the practices also. She is afraid that she will not remember her lines. She does pretty good with them and that is good. She still has awhile before the play is going to be performed.
I remember my grandma. I was older when she died and she died before we moved. I was in grade school when she passed away. She was such a good cook but she did not leave any of her recipes for us to follow. She remembered most of them and never wrote them down. She always said a dash of this and a pinch of that and that is hard to figure out. She always made such good stroodle. I spelled it wrong. Oh well I tried.
You are right about tv. It was always clean and you could sit and watch it with the family and not be embarrassed. There are some shows that I would not watch with my grands at all. Even the oldest ones. I missed the old movies when they were doing a love scene. They did not have to show all that crap they just would go thru the door an shut it. You had to use your imagination to figure out what they were doing. When you were little it did not matter what they were doing and when you got older it didn’t matter.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I am not going to do anything about it. I just do not know why it started popping up now. The only time that I have seen is when you enter a contest and they have that and it asks if you are a robot. If they do not know by now that I am not then there is no hope for them. This only happens on this site. I just do not understand why. Thank you for the advice. I will just ignore it.
How are you doing there? Is the weather still good there are you getting rain. We had some ice but it did not last for long. I think that it started to melt this afternoon. We had sun all afternoon.
I sure hope that they will be sending Kay home soon. I know that you will be glad to see her. I hope that they will have some nurses coming out to check on her for awhile.
It is sad that there are so many criminals trying to get all of our information off the internet.
Have a great night.
Colleen -
Adele,
I am glad that you were there to help Tillie out with that phone call. I have never heard of the IRS giving you warming that they are going to come and arrest you. They usually just come out and get you and the only notice you get is thru the mail. At least that is the only way I have heard that happens. That is terrible that they called her and scared her like that.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I’m sorry to hear those idiots scared Tilly that way. We hear on the news from time to time an elderly person or couple get swindled out of $$$ by someone calling saying their grandson/daughter is in jail & they need $$$ to get out. and unfortunately the elderly people fall for it. We also hear about how people get calls from law enforcement calling threatening arrest if they don’t wire money right away. and if you get a call & the first thing they say is “Can you hear me?” DON’T answer!!! Just hang up. I got one of those calls a few months ago & I hung up. They tried calling back several more times until I blocked it on my phone. It’s amazing how low these thugs will go to scare others out of their money. And don’t get me started on the porch pirates.
Altho, karma was working in Wa. state a couple weeks ago when one slipped & broke her ankle. The authorities caught up with em tho!! Yes!!!
We had a bright sunny day today, but it wasn’t warm! The East wind was blowing so it was really cold. It’s gonna be the coldest night(s) so far this yr. Rain is supposed to return later in the week. I saw where we’re supposed to get an Arctic blast next week I believe. That will bring the snow levels down to the foothills. We desperately need snow in the mts. they’re talking drought already if we don’t get more of it in the mts. You guys on the East coast should send it out our way. I’m sure you wish you could.
Well, that’s all for tonight
Before I forget, HAPPPY VALENTINE’S DAY
dd -
Hi Colleen
I feel the same way. What happened to the romantic love scenes, that left all the nakedness out? Romance seems to have been replaced by lust….LOL
Can you imagine the faces of the Nuns who taught us in school? they would be aghast. When we had the CYO dances on a Friday night, the priest would come between you on a slow dance, and say,”Make room for the Holy Ghost”. It was so funny. The kids do not even have any Friday night dances anymore. Those were the good old days.
I think we all have brooms to ride. I even have that sign “the witch is in” on my hall closet door, all year long.
Can you believe that tomorrow is Valentine’s Day? I think Heather is bringing the boys over for dinner tomorrow night. I have left over soup, and will make something to go with it. I also made chocolate chip cookies today. I hope Tillie will feel good enough to come upstairs after her shot tomorrow. I also ordered some chocolate from Winfrey’s Fudge (google them- they have the best chocolate ever) for the girls and the boys. It was supposed to be delivered today, and UPS has not come by yet.
I will be praying for Brook to remember her lines, and not be too nervous before opening night. I know she will go great!
Have a good night!
Adele -
Hey Colleen…..Bobby thinks he cooks way better than I do.
Adele -
Hey Colleen
It was not really the IRS who called. It was a scam. they have been running that scam for a long time, and a lot of elderly people have given them their account numbers, and had their accounts wiped out.
You have to be so careful now with all these on line thieves. It is the new way to steal.
Adele -
Hey DD
We have those scam here too. They do the same things all over the US. I hate to tell you what I say before I hang up….not printable on here….LOL
The latest one is a guy who got arrested for stealing from people when they were at a funeral or wake. He looked in the local paper (it was down on Cape Cod this time) for people attending a funeral of their wife or husband, and robbed them. Can you imagine? What a slime ball.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you too. i am not sure i will have time to get on here tomorrow. I will try.
Hope you have a good night!

Hello dear friends from sea to shining sea…..I have really enjoyed having some time today to read your posts; and catch up a little on what is going on in your lives. Well, we went another full week without hearing from the kids; and just when I felt we were stepping back again the Ipad started playing it’s facetime music, and lo and behold it was our baby; sitting in Neals lap then down he goes and starts showing us his toys, and the more we would laugh and clap the more he did. He started dancing all around and squealing and jabbering and laughing. It was like the Philamonic Orchestra playing a song just for us. Sarah was there; sitting on the couch; and I asked “how you doing, Sarah?” and no answer; so about 5 mins. later; I said “what is that cute little fellow on his shirt called, Sarah? I know I see them everywhere” and she finally said, “I don’t know, it’s just his pajamas’ Well, I already knew it was a Minion…..and I know she knew what they are, but just didnt tell me. But I just wanted to show that I am not in any way holding back from talking with her; and mabey just mabey one day she will see me as an ally not an adversary. I want to be close to all my DIL’s. THen today, Neal calls us on his way to work and talked for about half an hour. It felt so good. Words cannot even come close to thanking all of you for your prayers and support as we go through this. I hope with all my heart that I can somehow in some way comfort you all too.
DD, we are watching on the weather channel about Mt. Hood with people who have been hurt and a rescue taking place. Praying for them. This is so terrible. I was so glad to see that your dear friend is coming home soon. I really am glad that they are keeping her this extral week to make sure she is strong enough to be released. I know she and you will be so happy for her to get home, but she must really really take it easy.
Hope all goes well with Tillie and her shot. I think the soup idea is a good one; since it takes so much out of everyone when you have a procedure to go through. It sounds as if Bobby has turned into Bobby Flay with his great cooking skills. Speaking of the food network; this past weekend our DIL who is our oldest sons wife and a Nurse Mgr. in an ER in Vegas attended this big party given to all the emergency personnel of Vegas at Caesars Palace that each course was prepared by one of five of their stars. Our son, Buddy, said it was a fabulous dinner, and that Guy F (can’t think of his last name, but he does that diners, drive ins show) did the appetizers (looked so beautiful and artistic) Flay the entree, Gordon Ramsey the dessert, and the lady Giada made take home pkgs. for everyone of her lemon ricotta cookies. It sounded like a fabulous night, and for such a good cause to show how much LV supports its first responders and hospital personnel. She loves her job; and our son works where they train the top gun pilots. Really proud of them.
Joey just stopped by to check on us. Jerry has been under the weather for about a week. Thank goodness I got him to go to the doctor; even though he fussed and fussed. They were all telling us about this “super flu” but felt he was needing antibiotics and I am really keeping him on a short leash. He thought he would sneak out today, but I caught him. Everyone please be careful. I was in the pharmacy the other day and a lady was coughing and coughing. I kept moving to another isle everytime I would hear her. I feel so bad, since I know people have no choice sometimes but to go get their medicine themselves, but with so much going around you just have to be as careful as you can. Jerry had to take medicine out to his Mom a few days before he started feeling sick; and I really think he may have picked it up out there. She is doing lots better, thank God. How is your Mom doing Colleen? Is she still able to live in her own home? Hope she is doing good.
I agree with you all about all the nudity and bad language. I get embarassed; especially if a young person is in the room with us. There just doesn’t seem to be any romance; unless I watch a Hallmark movie or a really old movie. I still love the black and white movies. It just seems like everyone just gets so intimate on the very first date; if what they show is anywhere close to being right. I am not a prude; but I just love the “chase” and watching the people actually get to know each other before they rush into a relationship.
Well, Colleen, we are having potato soup tonight and some fresh bread. Tell Ron he is safe; we are eating it all up. ha ha
Better close for now. Thank you again for all your good thoughts and prayers. I remember you all too. And Adele; I still keep phone numbers and addresses from many years ago. Just can’t let go. Take care everyone. Love helps us all. So happy Valentines Day to you all. Hugs, Barbara -
Hi Ladies,
I’m reporting good news/bad news about the people stuck on mt. Hood. the one guy died of his injuries, but the rescuers were able to get all the other people off the mountain. Originally there were 7 climbers, but later on there was a second group that needed rescuing. The crews were working against time, wind, & a storm that’s on the way. A snowcat was able to get 3 stranded climbers down to one of the ski lodges. They got everybody down around 8pm. We have some elite rescue teams here. Portland Mountain Rescue, Mountain Wave, Oregon National Guard sent a Black Hawk helicopter to air lift the injured climber to the local hospital.
Because of we’ve been having warm temps it’s made the snow pack loose & dangerous. They were up against loose rocks & falling ice too. I’ll bet they’re glad to be back.
Barbara, so glad to hear you heard from your boys! It’s too bad Sarah is being so stubborn. Maybe someday she’ll open up to you guys. I’m just glad your son is keeping in touch with you, & you get to ‘play’ with Colin.
I’m signing off for tonight, have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

Hi Adele,
I knew that it was not the IRS that called Tillie. I agree with DD they had no right to call and scare her. Some people just do not know how to behave. It is a shame that they cannot catch all these people that make the phone calls and put them in jail for awhile.
I can remember those dances. The priest and the nuns watched over us like hawks. We still had a really good time though and went every Friday night. It is a shame that they do not have things like that for the kids today. At least the kids would have a place to go and it would be safe and they would not get into any trouble. Do you remember how strict the nuns were? They were stricter the the priest. At least the ones that we had were. Sometimes that is what the kids need today. They need to have more discipline and maybe they would not get into so much trouble.
All the holidays are coming up so soon. It seems like Thanksgiving and Christmas came and went so fast that we hardly had time to do anything. Soon it will be Easter and I cannot get to my closet with the decorations in it. The kids have their beds in that room and so the door is blocked. Oh well maybe they can make bunnies for me to put up around the house.lol
That will be fun to have the kids there for Valentines day. Maybe Tillie will come up stairs if the kids are there so she can see them. I will be praying for her tomorrow. I really hope that things go well for her. Your soup sounds good. You could just have sandwiches with the soup. A lot of little ones like that for a meal.
Mandy is cooking dinner tomorrow and I am going to decorate the house. I may go to the store and buy some valentines to hang from the light in the dining room and put them around the table. Will also have some candy to put on the table for them. We are going to try and find an ice cream cake and have that with the meal. Ice cream is Ron and Brook’s favorite. Kylie will probably like it as well.
Thank you for the prayers for Brook. She will appreciate them.
Well that is about all from here. Have a very Happy Valentines Day.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
That is so cool that Neal called and had Colin in his lap. He is such a cutie. I can imagine it was fun watching him doing all those cute things like getting his toys. We have another dancer in the group. Aliza would be dancing with him if she say him dancing. She loves to dance. She is so cute and Colin is so cute. They would have fun together. I am so glad that you had that time with Colin.
That is good that you are talking to Sarah. She can act anyway that she wants but as long as you keep the line of communication open sooner or later she will have to respond. I do not know what she is proving with the way she is acting right now. It is showing Neal that she did not bring the baby to see you and Jerry while Neal was at school.
That was so nice that those chefs cooked for the people at the hospital. The nurses and emergency people do not get as much credit as they deserve. They work hard and are there all the time and when we need them. I wonder if Gorden Ramsey is a good cook. I know that he can cuss really well from watching his shows. lol
My mom is doing pretty good. Yes she is still living on her own. She started out by saying if she lived to be 85 she was going to sell her house and move into a place where it would be easier for her. Well she is 96 now and still living in her house alone. I feel bad because we have not been to see her in awhile. We have the kids living with us and Ron has to take the grands to school and my daughter to work. So we spend most of our time in the car driving people to where ever they need to go. Maybe we will have everyone off on the same day and we can all go and see my mom.
I love the old black and white movies also. They are never the same when they colorize them. It just makes everything look so different and it ruins the movie.
Ron said that he was glad that you and Jerry ate all the potato soup. He did not miss that at all. lol I hope that Jerry is feeling better and stays in the house until he is okay. Men they are hard to take care of sometimes.
Have a Happy Valentines day tomorrow.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
You gave us our Valentines gift today. All of the pictures of Tom. He is so cute. Now if he would just take the time to come and visit each one of us that would be even better. Even if he just called us all. Wouldn’t that be nice.
I am sorry to hear about the man that dies on Mt Hood. I had not heard about the accident on the mountain. Thank God that everyone else is safe and in the ski lodge. That had to be so scary. I do not know why people want to climb mountains it is so dangerous.
The picture of the cat that you posted reminds me of my daughters cat. He climbed up and got in the sink with a bowl that was in there. One of the kids were eating ice cream and they did not clean out the bowl and put it in the dishwasher. That cat drives me crazy. Wish he could be a good cat like Jewel. This cat will attack you if you are walking down the hall. It is a good thing that he does not have front claws we would be all scratched up the back claws are bad enough.
Not much else going on here. Have a Happy Valentines day.
Colleen -
Hey Barbara
Well, it is Guy Fieri you are thinking of. He is a character. What a wonderful event they went to. Imagine the delight to see those cool chefs in person, to taste their food, and get a goodie bag to take home! I wish every hospital all across the land appreciated their staff that way. They are blessed to work in that area.
I bet there are some stores your son can tell of what he has seen as those pilots are trained. You must be so proud, and you should be.
Of course you give us good feeling, good vibes, and your wonderful advice that gets us through the day. We are blessed to have you too!
Well, you will no believe this one. In the middle of night, I was woken with awful stomach pains that kept me in the bathroom the rest of the night. I had the chills, and could nto get warm, even with all my pajama pieces on, and up against Gary’s hot body. My feet, hands and nose were freezing, no matter what I put on. So, there was no way I could go with Tillie today for her eye. I was lucky Marissa was not working, and she went with Gary and Tillie.
I felt so bad about not being able to go, and deserting Tillie. At least I had a Minnion ( you cannot tell me anyone in the world does not know what a Minnion is…..) to help today. They already called with some questions, which I answered.
You know, at first I felt real bad. then, I said to myself, there must be a reason I was stopped from going today. Maybe if I had gone, something would have happened that would have affected me, or everyone with me. I honestly feel if you were planing on going somewhere, and you were stopped by circumstances beyond your control, it prevented another tragedy happening.
I am thrilled you got to see and talk to little Colin. I also thin it is very noble and gracious of you to continue to be so kind to a very snarky person. She does not know what a Minnion is? I know your son realized that was another big lie. Seriously???
Barbara, god bless you for the ability to be gracious in the worst of circumstances. You are a true Southern Belle. Of course, we will continue to pray for you, Jerry, your son, and your DIL who puts the snark in snarky. I have to wonder how she grew up, and what kind of parenting she had. Are you tkaing the brunt of how she feels about her own mother, perhaps? I have to wonder about that.
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!! I missed my early am planned breakfast with hubby for Valentine’s Day, before we took Tillie to her appointment. We are going to try again on Friday. I can’t wait to see what God throws at me on Friday…..LOL
Love you, Barbara!!!
Adele -
Hi DD
Thank you for posting our favorite Valentine. Can’t wait until Blue Bloods is back on Friday after the Olympics.
Happy Valentine’s Day!! I hope you have some good chocolate to munch on today.
We heard about the rescue on the mountain. So good they were all able to get off the mountain before that storm came. God bless those rescuers. Veyr sad that one person died. They are lucky all of them were able to see another day. So sad.
Hope your day goes well….read my post to Barbara for the up-dates of my nutty life.
Love,
AdeleBarbara….forgot to say. We also enjoy the Hallmark movies, as they do romance without embarrassment. I totally agree- none if us are prudes, but, they show so much you blush, even with just your husband in the room. Go Hallmark Channel!!
Adele -
OMG, Colleen….even reading bout what you will eat is making me queezy. My tummy is sore today. I only had an English muffin and a boiled egg today. I did have some OJ, as I was afraid I was going to dehydrate.
The last time Tillie got one of those calls, I called the police department and gave them the number to call. I even saw a note in last week’s local paper in the police reports about someone calling to report they got such a call too. I hope they do catch them. These cyber crimes are getting worst and worst. Almost every day I get a bogus friend request from Facebook. You can tell as the person will have no data on themselves, and you will have no idea who they are.
Our Nuns were Dominican. Which order did you have?
I will start to get my bunnies out over the weekend. I love the Spring Annalee’s, as they are so bright and festive when it is cold.
You are having quite the Valentine’s Day party. I do not think anyone wants to be near me today. I will have to send the chocolate to the boys another day The boys were sick last week, and I know they do not need another virus. I think I got this when we were out to dinner. That was the only place I was, and it had to be from there. I washed my hands as soon as we came back, but, you can get a virus in a second, from anywhere.
I hope you all have a great time tonight. Ave your grands post a pic of all of you for us……I see no potato soup will be on the menu…..LOL
Happy Valentine’s Day, Collleen
Love, Adele -
Happy Valentine’s day to Sue, Gail, and everyone else who did not post on here today!!!
Love, Adele
Hope everyone has a good time, and that nobody is ill!!

Hi Ladies,
When is this Madness(!) gonna end??!!! IT’S GOT TO STOOOOOPP!!! Sorry, I had to get that off my chest!!!That aside I hope all of you had a wonderful Valentine’s day. The strangest thing has been happening to me today/tonight. so far I’ve received 17 (!) reminders from QVC about the schedule change of QF shows. I’ve never gotten that many before!!! Somebody must’ve hit the wrong key somewhere.
Adele, you NEED to get to a DR ASAP!!! It sounds like the flu. If you get a fever over 100 that’s not a low grade fever. It would be better safe than sorry.Remember I said I thought we were out of danger from getting snow this late? Well, guess what!! Some local areas woke up to a light dusting of SNOW on the ground this morning!!! And we could get more Sunday. The weather guys aren’t predicting it for sure yet. It’s a game of wait & see right now. We’re getting an Arctic blast over the weekend, but question is will we have enough moisture for snow. I do remember we had snow in Feb. in the late 80s. I wasn’t living up here back then, I was further south from here.
Well, that’s all I have for tonight.
And yes Adele, I’m a bossy old lady!! Just so ya know. LOL
dd -
Hi Adele,
I am sorry that I made you sick. I forgot about your allergies. I hope that you are feeling better now. That really hit you all of a sudden. It is a good thing it hit while your at home and not when you were with Tillie. You are so lucky that you had family there to take Tillie to her appointment so you could stay home and rest. Maybe the boys will come and celebrate Valentines day with you another day.
How did things go for Tillie today? Did she have any pain? I hope things went a lot more smoothly then it did the last time and she is happy with this doctor. Is she seeing any better or is it too soon to tell. I did not know if it took awhile after she gets the shot are if it takes a day or two.
I hope that you called the police and let them know that it happened to Tillie also. They need to get all the complaints that they can so they will stay on the case. They really need to find these guys. I know that it has to be hard since they call on the phone and it is hard to trace it after it is all over with.
The nuns that we had were the Sisters of St. Joseph. We had different types of nuns in different parts of the county. We use to have the Sisters of Charity. They were really good nuns but I think that they only serviced the poor. They were a brave lot they would go into the bad neighborhoods and help those people and they would go by themselves for awhile. I guess they quit when people did not respect them any longer.
It was a good thing that you had your Valentines dinner on Sunday. Did the kids make it over for that celebration? I am sorry that you were sick today and did not get to celebrate.
Well Ron surprised me today. He brought me a big stuffed dog. It is so cute and it sits in my chair when I am not in it. I told Ron that it is guarding my chair when I am not in it. I do not like Bentley to get into it. That stupid cat bit me again today. I do not know what I am going to do if he does not stop it. I know what I would like to do.lol
We did not take any pictures tonight. My oldest grand was being a pain and would not eat dinner with us. After her mom went to all that work. I am not speaking to her unless I have to. She really irerated me. So will not say anything for awhile because I do not want to say what I am thinking. Sorry I did not spell the word right. iritated. I am not sure my computer just keeps putting a red line under it. You know what I mean.
Well that is about all from here. Take care of yourself and get better soon.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I got a lot of reminders from qvc also. Did you notice that they had some of the dates out of place. They were doing the 21st and then they put the 28th and then went back to the 21st. I do not know what that was all about. I wrote the dates down in case they do not get on the schedule on my tv.
It does not sound like it is going to be a big snow storm. It will not be too bad if you just get a dusting. That will melt really quickly and will not be much to worry about. I guess that I feel that way because that a dusting here will not be too bad.
Have you heard any more from Kay. It will be so nice when she gets home. Did you fix a special dinner for today? You have to have a good dinner and some chocolate. Especially the chocolate. I was disappointed that they did not have any sugar free chocolate on this year. (qvc) I usually buy some it is really good.
The roses are so pretty. The white sand looks so pretty. Do you know what beach that was? That would be a nice place to go and just lay out on the beach or walk in the water.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen
p.s. we must have your weather. It is going to be 71 here tomorrow. -
Hi Everyone,
Belated Valentine’s Greetings to all.
I am praying for those poor families in Florida. Our nephew lives in Coral Springs and his son’s school is about a block away from where the shootings occurred and his daughter’s school was a mile away. We were relieved to hear that they were all safe.
I wish there was some solutions being offered by our government to try to stop these events from occurring. They are becoming more and more frequent.
When I went to grade school we had Dominican nuns but i went to a public high school so I didn’t have them then.
Yes they no longer have high school dances. They are a thing of the past. I think they had one or two when our kids were in school and no one really had any interest in going. Did any of you have a Sadie Hawkins dance where the girls asked the boys and you all went dressed as characters from Little Abner. We always did a dance called the TeeTun Mountain Stomp. We learned it in gym class. Also did you build Homecoming parade floats when you were in high school? Probably not Adele if you went to a small all girls school. You have to have football for a homecoming. That was always so much fun. They still do it as Brent’s class used our pole barn to build their senior float.
So Bobby thinks he is a better cook. I’m going to take a page from Tom Sawyer’s book and challenge him to cook for a month to prove it. lol Did you say he worked as a chef at one time or am I making that up? lol
I have heard about those funeral thieves who check obituaries and then go rob people when they are at funerals. Talk about kicking someone when they are down.
There are so may phone scammers nowadays. The one i can’t understand is they now use numbers with your local first three numbers so it looks like it’s local and sometimes even a local name will come up on the caller ID but it is a scammer using it. How can this even be legal? If all those scammers put all that time and energy into doing something legal they might actually make a legitimate salary.
Adele, I hope you are feeling better and Tillie’s shot went well.
DD the Valentines pictures and flowers are so pretty.
You know I used to get reminders and e-mails from the Q and all of a sudden they just stopped. Maybe i should sign up for them again or maybe not as I have enough junk in my inbox on a daily basis. Anyone entering the new sweepstakes. I have with no hopes of ever really winning anything.
Barbara, I’m so glad that you got to Skype with Colin and see him dance and laugh and jabber. I think Sarah wants to be in the room to monitor the conversation. My BIL’s wife would always do that on the phone and you could hear her telling him what to say in the background. My heart breaks as it must be so uncomfortable for Neal when she won’t speak to you. You are very generous trying to keep the lines of communication open. What she is doing seems so immature to me. Do you mind me asking how old she is? We will just keep praying and hope that sometime she sees or hears something that will change her way of thinking.
Colleen, what did Mandy make for Valentines Day dinner? I hope Kylie is feeling more talkative today. Young girls really do have their ups and downs. We ended up just going out to a local tavern that has really good food. It not’s fancy but it seems to be the one place around here where the food never disappoints.
Gail -
Hi DD
You are not bossy, you are a concerned friend. No worries here- the fever was up only one degree. I stopped the bathroom running, and feel better today. I still get a sharp pain in my belly once in a while, but no more bathroom runs. So, I hope it all just goes away. I did check for appendix symptoms- they do not match up.
I am sick to the core of me about the shooting at another school. When is this going to stop? Valentines Day from this day forward, will forever be a horrific memory for everyone in this country. Those poor parents, kids and staff. nothing will ever be the same again. Nothing.
On the plus side, Tillie is ok, accept her eye is red and sore, whihc is what has happened for all the shots. So, that is good. This doctor gave her some eye drops to put into the eye when it feels sore, so that is very good. the other one did not do that. I cannot tell you how happy I am we switched.
I hope everyone is ok, and not crying too much over what is unfolding on TV. Such a sad and horrific day. God bless all the police and EMT’s.
Love, Adele
PS….I pray this is the last one. It has to be. -
Hi Colleen
I am thankful I have Minnions, and that I can find one who isn’t busy, when I need one….LOL I am blessed.
I would feel the same way you do- I would want to smack one of the grands for ruining the party her mother planned. Valentines Day is so hard when you are alone, and have nobody o give you a card. She went through all that trouble to make it positive fore herself, and all of you, and did not need Debbie Downer to make her sad. So, your not talking to her is just fine!
Did the rest of you have a good time? What did she cook?
Tillie is ok today. her eye is red and sore, and it always is the day after a shot. She is tired today, as she could not sleep last night. I bet she will take a nice nap in her chair today. She was funny last night. She did not want the soup, as she said she was starving. So, she wanted to order Chinese food for us, for Valentine’s Day. So, we had a nice dinner, while we watched the horrific news. I am so disgusted that another school full of children had to go through this horror.
The boys did not come over last night, and I am glad they did not. I was afraid they would catch this, if it is a flu related thing. heather may come by later to get the chocolates for the boys, so that will be good.
Hug your grands, even the one you are not talking to, as we never know when we get our last hug in. This is a crazy world.
Love you!
Adele
PS…that was nice of Ron to get you a gift. Go Ron!! -
Hey Gailster
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Greg too. It makes me feel guilty to say that, in light of these horrific events. I am praying the 5 kids who are in critical condition will make it. No more children need to die today.
I just saw the defense attorney on TV. It seems like she is struggling with being his attorney. Any person would be. She said he is a broken human being. Seriously? I think he should dig every grave by hand, and lets see how broken he is.
You must have been so scared until you heard your relatives were ok. I cannot imagine watching that, knowing you have people in that school district.
I totally agree- this is a national conversation that needs to happen, with action, not empty words of compassion that cannot stop any more incidents, nor bring those Angels back to earth.
That was nice that you two got out to dinner. We are going to try (again) to get out to breakfast before going to the accountant tomorrow afternoon. So far, the weather looks like it will cooperate. I hope my belly does….LOL
When you read my post to the girls, you will see we had Chines last night. I had a wonton soup, white rice, and some pieces of General Gao’s chicken. The family was laughing at me eating the chicken, as it is spicy. I told them the spices would scare the germs out….LOL LOL
We did not have a football team, so no homecoming fun for me. Even though our school was so small, it was co-ed. We did have a pitiful hockey team, that never won one game. I was a cheerleader for our pitiful team. The games were very sad, but, we cheered our hearts out.
I feel so sad, for all those families, and all the police who had to see that horror. God bless all the heroes of yesterday. They saved hundreds of children.
It depresses me. I cannot begin to wrap my head aorund how those parents and children feel today.
Hope you are ok today.
Love, Adele -
Hi Gail,
I am so glad that your nephews family is okay. It would be scary to send your kids back to school again. I cannot understand what goes thru a kids mind that would make him want to kill that many people.
We use to have Sadie Hawkins day at our school I went to Catholic schools until my sophomore year. Then I switched to public school. I do not remember dressing up like lil Abner or anything like that. Did you have sock hops at school dances? We had a couple of those because it was the students choice what type of dance they wanted to have. It was fun but they only did that once.
My mom has figured out the best thing to say to people that call her. She tells them that her son takes care of all her business and she will call him to the phone and they hang up. She does that even if he is not there. They do not want to talk to her son because they know that he will know that it is a scam. It is also a good thing to have a whistle by your phone. That works also.
Mandy made steak, crab legs, potatoes, salad and bread. She really worked hard on the meal. It really made me mad. Kylie is getting to be a bit bratty right now. We had to take her to urgent care today she has a kidney infection. That was nice that you went to the local tavern to eat. Sometimes they have the better meals. Hope that you enjoyed yourself.
Mandy and I went to the store today and they had all the Valentine stuff on sale. We bought a few things for the kids. They had those Roche candies on sale and Mandy and the girls both like them. So hope they enjoy them.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
You are lucky to have the Minions around to help you when needed. I am glad that things went well for Tillie and the doctor gave her some drops to put in her eyes if they got sore. He sounds a lot more thoughtful then the other doctor did. It is so lucky that she got in to see that doctor.
We did have a good time yesterday. Mandy made steaks, crab legs, potatoes and salad. It was a really good meal. It was so nice of her to cook that meal for us. We gave her some candy that she really likes today because she would not buy it. It is that Roche stuff. The one that is supposed to be the best candy around. I really do not know why but they believe it.lol
That was nice that Tillie ordered the Chinese food for dinner. You tried when you were going to have the soup. If you would have had a big meal she probably would not have been able to eat it. That is usually the way it goes. It probably made her feel really good to get dinner for you since you were so sick and you could eat what she got.
It was probably better that the boys did not come over last night. They may have caught what you had and that would have been bad. We have the flu here Kylie had it and passed it to Brook and now Ron has it. So far Mandy and I have been lucky and have not caught it. Hopefully it will stay that way. We had to take Kylie to urgent care she has a kidney infection. So she got the medicine and has to take it for a week.
Ron has been being so nice here lately. I do not know what is wrong with him. He may be afraid
of the potato soup. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I hope you are feeling better and got to get out for your breakfast. I hear more bad weather is headed your way.
I always thought we had it bad in the Midwest but after chatting with you for these last few years I’ve decided I wouldn’t want to have New England weather. However, I do get those brochures that show the cruises up the New England coast line and they always look so interesting to me. East is the place that is lacking in my travels. I have been north, and west and south and southwest but the farthest east I have been is the east coast of Florida. Who knows maybe Greg and I will come knocking on your door someday. lol Hopefully there would be some baked goods involved. lol
Greg had an early dentist appointment this morning so he was out and about and now he’s in his chair trying to snooze but I keep talking to him. lol
Hopefully we will get to see the kiddoes tonight. They say we are getting more snow tomorrow too-I’m hoping they are wrong or it all blows Colleen’s direction.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I think we had some sock hops too. I remember we also had what we called after game dances which were just dances in the gym after a home basketball game. When I was a senior someone started up a teen club in one of the nearby towns where they had live bands on weekends so a lot of us kids went there on the weekends. They also had a coffee house in our town where they would have local folk musicians come in and sing and play. I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the place. I know the teen club was called The New Place.
Your mother thought up a good thing to say to the phone scammers. That is exactly what they don’t want to hear so I’m not surprised when they hang up. That is funny about blowing the whistle in their ear. That should teach them a lesson.
Mandy’s dinner sounds really good and that was so nice of her to go all out to cook it. Maybe Kylie was grumpy because she was starting to feel bad from the infection. I’m glad she got seen quickly and started on antibiotics. Thank goodness for those immediate care places. Especially for times when you know you just need an antibiotic and know you won’t be able to get into a doctor’s office.
I stopped in at Walgreens and got some Valentines candy to bring to the grands when we see them. I know I used to love getting one of those little heart shaped boxes when i was little.
Gail -
Hi Colleen
That was a nice meal Mandy made for all of you. I bet she is enjoying the candy. I have never heard of that candy. Is it just in your area?
I wonder if Kylie was not feeling good, and that is why she has been acting so honery. I know we get like that when we get a UTI or kidney infection. I wonder if kids react the same way. Wouldn’t it be nice if when she is all better, she was back to her old self? I hope so.
Tillie did feel good to buy the dinner for us. She felt it was her way of showing appreciation for all we do. It made her feel proud.
So, Ron is on extra good behavior. That is really funny. Maybe he thinks Mandy will make potato soup too…..LOL
We finally got the chance to go out to breakfast today, before we went to the accountant. I wore my black Quacker shirt with the pretty red hearts around the neck area. that was the one I was going to wear on Valentine’s Day. I also had on a red hoodie that had flags on it, as it was in the low 50’s here today- no real winter jacket needed.
We are getting snow tomorrow night- anywhere from 2 to 6 inches. The kids are now on vacation for a week. Are your kids on vacation too?
I hope you are having a good day, and Mandy is making something yummy for dinner.
Adele -
Hey Gail
Read my post to Colleen for all the daily news. Too pooped to write it all over again….LOL
We are getting more snow- anywhere from 2 to 6 inches tomorrow night. Then, it gets warmer again, and it will all melt.
Gory and I went to the International House of Pancakes for breakfast. We finally made it out….in my Valentines attire.
I hope Greg is not sick, because he has been napping so much today. I was real tired the day I got sick. I could not keep my eyes open. That night, I got sick.
I hope you are able to make it to see your grands tonight. I bet you missed them last week.
We would be thrilled if you two stopped by for goodies. We could have a lot of laughs, for sure.
So, I started getting out my Easter decorations. With all this sadness, we needed some pretty decorations to look at. I am sick to my stomach over the deaths of those kids. Nobody in that school will ever be the same again.
Hope you have a good time tonight at Jenny’s. You will have some funny Piper stories to tell us. We need a little Piper right now to make us smile.
Adele -
Hi Gail,
It is really sad that we had all those fun things to do but now the kids do not have anything to do. The dances were never that expensive and some times the things we did were free. Now they charge so much and they are not safe places for the kids to go to. It is a shame that they cannot go back and do some of the things that we use to do.
Mom has gotten smarter since she has been alone for so long. She use to tell people if they called for my dad the he had died. We have told her not too that anymore. Do not let people know that you are alone. The only people that you should tell is people that you know. They may not have heard that he had died. So after that she started doing things a lot different.
Kylie has a really bad attitude since she started college.. I do not know what he deal is. She is not really nice to her mom and that really makes me made. Mandy should be getting her car soon and that will make a big difference. She needs to have a way to get around. She will be able to do a lot more and not have to depend on us. She wants to look for a better job and start working more hours. So now with a job she will be able to do that.
I did not get the other kids a box of candy. There is not telling when we will see them so I do not buy it unless I know we will see them right away.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
The name of the candy is Ferrero Rocher. They advertise it on tv a lot around Christmas time. I am not sure but I think that they do at Easter also. It just has a really good taste.
That was just so sweet of Tillie to buy dinner for all of you. You and Tillie must be a lot alike you both like to do nice things for people. I am glad that you did get to eat the meal. That is nice that you got to go out to breakfast. Glad that you felt well enough to go. Getting taxes done is not a fun thing. We do not have that much to do anymore.
Potato soup may be in his future. Since Brook is a vegetarian we could make some so she will have a meal that she can eat. She likes the bread with the baguette bread. It is so much better then crackers.
You must have looked really good in your quacker attire. It is fun to get all dressed up in our Quacker and go out. I wore my butterfly shirt the other day with the vest and got some compliments on it. The nurses at the doctors office liked it.
Our kids do not get anymore vacations this year. They will get three days off at Easter and that will be it for the year. They keep all the spring break days for snow days. It would be nice if you and Gail would send the snow our way, They have been saying that we are supposed to some snow here but we will see. They are good at predicting it but it never seems to arrive. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
Does that mean the kids will get out of school earlier, because they have not had a lot of snow days?
Do you believe that in the middle of this week, it may hit 70 up here? After we got about 5 inches of snow last night! It is all melting fast, as it is already 39, and going higher today. I am glad we will not have any lingering ice patches. They did say there may be some black ice spots early tomorrow. Glad I do not have to go out tomorrow.
I have heard of the Ferrero Rocher. They have a lot of nuts on the outside of them. I have tasted those.
I am almost done with getting the stuff for the kids’s baskets. I found those butterfly kits at Walmart, for cheaper than where I got them last year. Kphl’s was having a huge sale, and I had a 30% off coupon, so I ordered the socks for all of them…..9 baskets. I give them each 2 sets of socks, some cute thing, and a little bit of chocolate. I got those new lock n lock bowls form ITKWD last week, and will split those up between Steph Heather, me and Tillie. I do not do baskets for the adult men- Bobby, Jhonny, and Enzo. they will get some chocolate- probably a bunny.
I usually get at least one comment on my Quacker attire. I got none this week. I think people are shell shocked from the tragedy in Florida. I know I am. All I can think of, is the kids are supposed to be on vacation this week, not being buried. This is so heart wrenching, and i am so scared for all our grandbabies who have years to go before they graduate. Also cannot imagine how any teacher feels about their jobs today.
ITKWD is on. that usually makes me smile. LOL
I did the “easy” cinnamon muffins this am. I take 2 packages of Pillsbury crescent rolls, and lay them out, and press the seams together to form a big rectangle. I melt butter, and brush it on the dough, then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar, generously over the whole rectangle, then chopped walnuts, then roll it up, and cut them, and place into a Temptations oval baker, that I have already buttered. Bake. Then mic some melted butter, milk vanilla, and confectionery sugar for the topping- whihc you put on after they are done. They love those around here. It is easier than making the dough from scratch, and faster.
I wish I could send you some snow!!
I hope Sue is ok, as I heard about something happening in Penn a few days ago. Did they have an earthquake?? Dear god, I honestly can’t remember what the tragedy was about. I just remember being concerned for Sue.
Hope your weekend is going well. We are having the leftover soup today, and I am making some chicken to make chicken salad sandwiches with the soup. I ah planned the soup for yesterday, but after the little Piggies ate all the popovers I made, they did not want any soup. Gary said I should have served the soup first…LOL
Adele -
Hello to All. It sounds like everyone had a good “heart” day, with good food, good company, and of course, good chocolates lol. It was so funny, my poor husband did not have a clue it a “V” day until he heard the weather reporter say that she was hoping everyone was enjoying their special day of love and I could hardly keep from laughing; since you could see the look on his face of “oh, my gosh, I’ve really messed up” lol As he slyly glanced over at me to see if I had caught what she said, and he saw I had, he quickly said he was just waiting to see if I remembered it was V day. ha ha I said, Jerry of all your cover ups; this has to be one of the top ten. He began to offer me dinner options; etc. and I saw him walk back to our bedroom; to check to see if I had left him a card already under his pillow like I have for years, I’m sure hoping I had somehow forgotten, but it was there. ha ha It was a classic potato soup moment Colleen, but I was like Tillie, I just had a taste for some take out Chinese, and he was very happy to go get some for us.
Gail, I am SO happy that your family was safe. We are under some sort of “sorrow cloud” in our country, and I just cannot think of what we can do to stop these terrible things that keep happening to innocent people. I pray for Gods help to heal our hearts, and for strength for those hurting so badly.
DD, love your pictures. Hope your friend is feeling better every day. I know she was so glad to get home and be with you. She is so fortunate to have a caring person like you to see about her and be of comfort to her. Mabey your kitty needs to teach Colleens kitty some “no biting” rules. ha ha Our kitty is so laid back; that I don’t think he would use the energy to take a bite; unless it is of his favorite kibble treat. ha ha
Adele, it sounds like you had one of those 24 hour stomach viruses. THey are just awful; and make you feel so terrible. You get so dehydrated; and everything seems to just run right through you; unfortunately literally. Sounds like mabey the Roto virus; and you can pick that up anywhere. Yucky. Glad Ms. Tillie did good with her shot too. Tell her that she and I were hungry for the exact same thing that day. Colleen, it is just wonderful that your Mom is able to stay in her home. You all were surely right to tell her to be careful what she says on the phone. People are so devious and prey on us all. Jerry and I had that tax call that they were going to take away basicly everything; lock us up and throw away the key business. We reported it to the local people and the better business bureau; but never heard anything back. I was surprized they left a message on our answering machine. And you are right Gail, they use local numbers now to try to fool us all.
Neal called us today, they were on the way to I think Sacremento to a car show. We could hear the baby just jabbering in the background. We talked to him and I said hello Sarah, how are you doing today? She said, just fine, so I said good. Neal sent us a picture of the baby on valentine with him with a tee shirt on that said “everyone loves me” with a heart on it and little blue jeans on and red and navy sneakers, and he was smiling and making a heart sign by putting his hands together. It was so sweet. Neal put a message saying, Colin wishes grandma and grandpa a happy valentines day. We were thrilled. I pray everyday that God will guide me to be a good MIL; and things will continue to heal. Jerry on the other hand is still very upset; but he doesn’t show it when talking to Neal or the baby. He just can’t bring himself to talk to Sarah except to say and occasional hello.
Well, better close, I hear Jerry rattling around the kitchen; so he must be getting hungry. Can you believe I cooked a pot of chili on this warm day? Just got the taste for it. ha ha Take care everyone. I am like you all; I want to get out some spring decorations. I need something pretty to look at. Barbara
-
Hi Everyone,
Barbara, I think when we get older Valentine’s Day is just not that big a deal to any of us. Not that I would turn down a gift but a card is sufficient. And we usually go out to get something to eat the weekend before or after.
Colin’s Valentine’s picture sounds so cute.
You don’t have to pray to be a good MIL you already are one. I will pray that someday Sarah will get her eyes opened and realize that you and Jerry are no threat to her relationship. That there is enough love to go around for everyone. Who was ever hurt by having too many people love them?
Adele, our kids aren’t on vacation either this week although they might as well be since they had last Thursday and Friday off and now they have today off for Presidents Day. No wonder they have to go back to school in the middle of august with all the days they have off during the year! I think they will get a spring break closer to Easter too.
You know I just remembered that we had a shooting at a University in our area on Feb. 14th. It’s now ten years ago since that happened. I remember being afraid as our son’s best friend was at school then after coming back from the army.
I swear people are going to stop becoming teacher’s if this keeps up. It’s time to do something now!!! I’m sure 98 percent of the politicians have children or grandchildren. Don’t they want to make the world safer for them? it makes me sick that my little grandchildren go to school and have to have shooter drills like we had fire drills as children. This is just not acceptable! The people that make the laws have to at least try to do something instead of saying we’re so sorry and then going back to doing business as usual. We shouldn’t have to live like this. Other countries don’t have this going on. What are they doing that we are not? I hear foreigners say they are afraid to come here because they think it’s like the wild west. Come on politicians get your heads out of the sand and do something. Sorry-I just got worked up. I am just so sad.
Now Adele, I think Bobby, Enzo and Jhonny need some new socks too to go along with their chocolate bunnies just like the rest of them. I’ve made it easy on myself and just do something for the grands.
So let me get this straight everyone just ate popovers for dinner the other night? That doesn’t seem very filling. I thought the popovers were served along side the soup.
We are supposed to be warm-50 degrees and rainy the next two days and then who knows what will come next. lol Hope your ice is melting.
Colleen, maybe transitioning to college and the move and the change in the family has been emotionally hard for Kylie. Obviously something is bothering her. Maybe she would open up to you if you asked her in private if everything is okay.
That will be nice if Mandy gets a car soon. Ron won’t have to do as much driving though I suppose he will still do some just to help out. Mandy is doing so good. It takes a lot of courage to move out on your own and start up a new life especially with two children to take care of. She should be really proud of herself and I’m sure she is so grateful for you and Ron helping out. The more she stands on her own two feet the better she will feel about herself. I’m sure you guys are really proud of her too.
No new Piper stories this week. Everyone was so tired when we went there that they all conked out on the couch. Even Jenny. lol I guess Greg and I were too boring.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
The last thing that I heard that happened in Penn was a tornado. I do not know if something else happened or not. I did not realize that Sue live there for some reason I thought that she lived in Indiana. I wonder who lives there. I really get the place where people confused.
The kids will not get out earlier. They just keep the days and do not know what they are going to do with them. They must get paid for them so that is why they keep the kids in school. They told the parents that they were not giving any snow days if they have to stay home they have to make them up. This is really kind of strange since they have to start earlier and earlier every year and do not get out any earlier. I just wonder if they are trying to go year round like some schools do. I am not in favor of that. They need that three month vacation so the parents can set up places for them to stay and vacations.
You are way ahead of me. I usually do not make baskets for the kids. We just hide eggs and I have a big bowl of candy on the table and they can take all that they want. We try to get rid of the whole bowl before the day is over. They can take it home with them. The candy not the bowl.lol My daughters said that they get so much candy from all the relatives that they do not want anymore baskets.
That thing in Florida is getting messier by the day. They said that the FBI was supposed to have gotten a warning but they did not do anything about it. They did not warn the school so they could be on the look out. I hope that they get this mess all worked out and no more kids will go thru this again. They should throw the book at this kid for doing this. He knew better and from the sounds of it he had been planning it for a long time.
Your cinnamon rolls sound really good. I may have to try them that way for the kids. You can make a lot of things out of the biscuits. I also like to make that fruit pizza with the rolls. They say to use cookie dough but with the diabetes it is not good to use it. Too much sugar in the fruit and the cookie dough.
We has snow here Sunday. It was so pretty really big flakes and it covered the ground. Then in the afternoon we got some rain and the weather was warmer and all of it melted. I was so disappointed. I guess we should be grateful that we at least got the snow for that little while. It was pretty and it stuck on all the trees and bushes.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
They must have been up to a lot if they were that tired. You and Greg cannot be boring. It has to be them. lol I think that sometimes the kids think that we are boring. We do not do all the things that they like to do. We do not keep them from doing stuff but we are still boring.
Kylie will not say if anything is wrong. She is just keeping it to herself if that is the problem. I know that they would like to be in a home of their own but this is the best that their mom can do right now. We are very proud of Mandy. This has not been easy for her and she really needs to feel independent again. She can do this and we keep telling her that. She will feel even better after she gets her car. Then they can go and do things that they want to do.
It is scary that all the shootings are going on. They had on tv today that a school was having a raffle for a rifle. It is a grade school and the guy said that they have to have a back ground check on the person that wins it. If they do not pass they pick another name or number. I am not sure what I think about that. He said that they have done this for years and you have to be a certain age to buy a ticket. I guess they check that out also. I did not hear what state that was in.
It is supposed to be warm here also. It is going to be in the 70’s a couple of days this week and then drop into the 30’s. This weather is really crazy this year. Did you hear what the ground hog said about how many more weeks of winter we were supposed to have? If he said six more weeks he was off by a lot. We may have to fire him and get a new ground hog.
So how is everyone doing? Have you heard from Brent? I hope that Greg is doing better with his back since he found this new doctor. Well we know about Jenny and the kids they were just tired. It may be from having the flu. I heard that it takes a lot out of you. They will all be back to themselves next Friday when you go and see them.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara
You are a great MIL. Too bad your DIL does not realize that. It is her, not you. I also think it was a start when she answered you more pleasantly this time. Progress is being made, and that is always good.
Gary is the same way. I try to move on, to keep the peace, and he harbors grudges forever. He gets so disgusted when his son doe snot call, accept when he needs something. I think they react that way because they are so terribly hurt, and it is not “macho” to show you are hurt.
It took my belly days to get back to normal. i kept getting that sharp pain in the lower belly. It is all good now.
So, Bobby is off today, and instead of my initial plan to make a hamburg/veggie soup, he is making Pasta Vagiole. Italian for a bean and pasta type soup. I am fine with him cooking….LOL
So, i have everything done for the Easter baskets. Do you believe, when I went on the Candy Warehouse site, the little milk chocolate bunnies (they come in a 5lb bag from Madeline Chocolates) were all out of stock? So, I got a bag of Valentine one, and a bag of little chicks. I do Easter baskets with very little chocolate in them. I make up a little goodie bag with chocolates that I put in each basket. Actually, I do not even use baskets- I get the large cellophane bags with Easter designs on them from the Oriental Trading co. those are on order too, with the Easter paper plates and napkins. So, i am done Easter shopping….LOL LOL
What do you do for your kids? Up here, it has been too wet and snowy to do an egg hunt. Maybe we will have luck this year.
We are getting your warm weather- in the 50’s today. It is supposed to be near 70 on Wednesday. Wow, is all I can say!
Hope you and Jerry are having fun today. tell Jerry all I got was a card for Valentine’s day.
Adele -
Colleen,
That’s Debra that lives in Indiana. It’s easy to get us all mixed up. -
Hi Ladies,
It’s been awhile since I was on here, so I had to sign in again. I guess when you don’t get on here after awhile it logs you off. No biggie anymore since I figured it out.
Well, our big news is we got snow over the weekend. They kept saying it was coming, maybe, if everything comes together. It wasn’t anything like Jan. 2017 tho. It was a dusting more than anything, but it’s still cold!!! the good thing is the mts got a couple of feet. the ski resorts had to shut down Sat. due to the winds were so bad the ski lifts couldn’t run. But Sun the wind died down & people headed up there. They can have it. You guys are probably rolling your eyes at our freaking out over a dusting. they roll up the roads & sidewalks if they see a snow flake, lol!!! Because today is a school holiday it came at a good time. But they say we could see more of it Thurs.
Barbara, I’m so glad to hear Neal is calling you & skyping with the baby. How old is Colin now? Is he walking yet? that’s wonderful. You haven’t done anything wrong so try not to worry about it. It sounds like it’s coming from her, not you.You would think that after Sandy Hook, something would’ve been done about the gun situation. How many massacres do we have to go thru before they do something!!!! NO ONE “needs” an assault rifle unless they’re in the military. My dad was a hunter & he kept his rifles, shotgun, in the closet, & if we went near them we’d get our butts blistered. We didn’t dare go near them. He didn’t have hand guns of any kind.
My mom died & I didn’t go out & shoot innocent people just because I lost her. All these excuses have got to STOP!!! I was raised in an abusive home, & again, I didn’t kill innocent people.I don’t blame any of you for wanting to put out your spring décor!!! I already have my artificial flowers out & I’m putting out my Easter décor as it’s gonna be here before ya know it. I think it’s the first weekend of April this yr. (don’t hold me to that). It always makes me happy to see the flowers even if they’re not real. I’d prefer real ones, but there’s no place where I could keep them.
Kay called me Friday & told me she wasn’t coming home till Tues. Her blood work is still outta whack for some reason & the Dr. wanted to keep her till they look better. I haven’t heard back from her since.
I haven’t said this before, & I can hear you laughing your butts off already. I have never had potato soup. Is it tasty, pasty or what?
I’m gonna try to send pics of the dusting we got. unimpressive to say the least.
Have a good week.
dd
Colleen, did you know Cheryl’s cookies had a sugar free offering on the Q? They looked really good. They weren’t on today, but ya might want to check it out. -
Let me try again. It didn’t work the first time. Nothing to write home about, lol
-
OMG, Gail!
No Piper stories. We all need a little Piper story right about now. She brings joy to all of us.
Yes, they did eat just the popovers for dinner….LOL They are made with a lot of milk and eggs, so they at least have some protein. For a dozen of them, 5 eggs, 3 1/4 cups milk, 7 1/2 tbsp of butter, and 3 cups of flour, with 1/4 cup of sugar. the recipe was converted from a German recipe, with grams.
The shootings are getting to all of us. I heard they sell bullet proof backpacks. At this pint the kids need bullet proof vests, and helmets to attend school. This has to end. I am so glad the Florida kids went to the White House to protest today. Good for them. Not good that they were forced into this issue.
You are guilting me into getting more socks for the adult men….LOL LOL
I agree with you- Colin’s Valentine pic sounds absolutely adorable. Also, Mandy does deserve huge praise from all of us, as what she is doing takes a lot of gumption. Good for her, and little Colin’s dad for taking the pic for Barbara and Jerry.
Last night, Gary and I watched a movie with Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and one other older actor- they decided to rob a bank, as the bank was taking Michael’s house away. I laughed so hard, I cold barely speak after. It was a wonderful distraction.
Hope your day is going well…..
Adele -
Hi Colleen
It was a tornado. I hope Sue is ok. I am not sure if the tornado was close to her area. We are having such awful storms, and earthquakes all over the place lately.
The whole tragedy in Florida is just unacceptable. So many people dropped the ball on this kid. I hoe they do give him the death penalty. This was a planned, methodical shooting. Did you hear that young man he ran into when he was loading the gun? he told him to get out, because it was goign to get real messy, real fast. That is premeditated murder. It is disgusting.
I am with Gail- Mandy deserves a lot of praise for what she is doing. She is trying her hardest, and it is taking a lot of effort on her part. Go Mandy!!
I got out the rest of my Easter stuff today. I had to shut off the TV, as it is so hard to hear. those poor kids and parents cannot shut it off- it is their new normal, and it is not fair. I am so glad Gail’s family was nowhere near that building.
It was in the 50’s today. Will be even warmer in the next couple of days.
Most of our snow is gone- I bet it will be all gone by Thursday.
hope you all have a good night….what did Mandy cook today?? Bobby did Pasta Fagiole.
Adele -
Hi DD
I do have to chuckle at your snow. After it has been warm for the past 2 days, we still have way more than that. I bet we will be snow free by Thursday, as it will be near 70 on Wednesday.
Your kids over there must be on the same schedule o as ours- we are on vacation too.
I thin Sandy Hook was the worst. All those babies. Who shoots 6 year old kids? At least that monster killed himself, and saved the country a lot of money. I cannot believe that after Sandy Hook, we are still going through these awful shootings. It has to stop. It is making us all sick to see these beautiful lives cut short, and the grief their families are going through.
Dd, you should try to find out the movie I watched, as you would get a huge kick out if. you need to laugh too.
I hope you got all your Easter stuff out. i have a lot of it on the dining room table, as I have to figure out where everything will go….LOL
Hope you have a good night. the Good Doctor is a repeat tonight-dam.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Adele I agree our snow is pathetic. but we’re in for some more tomorrow & maybe again Thurs. or Friday, then it warms up. As long as the snow stays up in the mts where it belongs.
You’re right about this killing has got to STOP!! Even tho we’re not directly involved, it takes a toll on all of us. I can’t imagine the grief those parents are feeling!! Unimaginable!!!
When I feel like I can’t take any more of the news I put on a DVD of I Love Lucy or Andy & Barney. They pull me out of the dole drums. I think I know the movie you’re talking about but I can’t think of the name of it. Michael Caine was in a spoof on Sherlock Holmes several yrs ago. He can be soo funny. The one I’m talking about is Without a Clue. Ben Kingsley stars as Watson & he hires Michael to impersonate Holmes.
Well I guess that’s all for tonight.
dd -
Hey DD
i found the movie….”Going in Style”. You have to see it- ti was hysterical. It was on one of the premium channels, free this month.
Last night we watched the movie Boss, with Melissa Mcarthy. She does swear a lot in the movie, but it was an amusing diversion from all the awful things on the news. I have no idea what we will watch tonight. I hate the Olympics, and they are on for one more week.
I love your Easter decorations. Very bright and cheerful. Maybe I will take a pic of my dolls on the dining room table….ready to be put somewhere….LOL I have been collecting them since my Dad discovered them in the early 1970’s. I have had some of them for a long, long time.
I hope you did not get enough snow to stop you from going out. I hope your friend gets home soon, so you can send time with her again. I bet she is dying to come home. I am still praying for her recovery.
Have a good day!
Adele
PS…does everyone hate the new QVC website? I cannot even find the daily schedule to see what is on. -
Hi Adele,
In answer to your last question, YEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!! I went to it last night to enter the $100,000 contest & I thought I went to the wrong website. I don’t like it at all!! I couldn’t get to my account & I liked it when it said, Hello Dianne, & I could click on it & go straight to my account, etc. I couldn’t find the category list either.
Well, guess what I woke up to this morning?? If you guessed snow you’d be right. It was coming down in white buckets. It’s let up some this afternoon but there’s a lot more on the way they say. the National Weather Service has upgraded us from winter weather advisory to winter weather warning for later today thru tonight. They say anywhere from 3-7 inches of snow could be on the valley floor by morning. that other pathetic one was just the beginning. It’s unusual for us to get snow this low this late in Feb.
Have you seen the preview of the pot stickers TSV for Wed.? they have 4 flavors this time. they’ve added beef now. I’d like to try em as I’ve never ate pot stickers before. Have you ever had them or have you tried Davio’s meatballs? I have them of pre order. I’ve tried Mama Mancini’s before & they were delish. I’d like to try the ones stuffed with mozzarella.
What kind of dolls do you collect? Barbie dolls, cabbage patch dolls? My mom wouldn’t allow a Barbie doll in the house. I got other dolls, baby dolls, bridal dolls, I don’t know whatever became of them. They’d probably be worth $$$ nowadays.
I’m gonna make mac & cheese tonight. I shred my cheese mix it altogether & bake it. I don’t use those horrible box things.
Are you baking anything good? I have to say everything is delish I’m sure. I’d hop on my broom to get some of those cinnamon rolls. My grandma made the best cinnamon rolls, fluffiest baking powder biscuits that almost floated off the pan. Mine would put a dent in a cement floor!!!
Well, that’s about it for now.
take care.

Hi Barbara,
Sounds like you had a nice Valentines day there also. How nice that Jerry bought you dinner and it was Chinese. I think that is one dinner that we all like on here. We do not go out as much as we did before the kids moved in. Everyone has such different schedules. I like those potato soup moments. They usually mean that they will be sorry for something that they did. And will do what they can to try and get on our good side.
The Valentine that Neal sent of Colin sounds so cute. He is such a little doll. This a big step that Neal is calling you and letting you talk to Colin and sending pictures of him. I think that Sarah will get over this when she grows up a little more. She needs to understand that not everyone is going to put up with her bull. She has to own up to what she did and just get on with life. You are a good mil and do not need to pray to be one. That is sad that you feel like you have to do that. You have made her feel welcome in your home all the time. It is just sad that she cannot be nice also. It must be hard on Jerry. He only wanted to tell Neal the truth and did not mean to start any trouble. I really do think that Neal knows in his heart that Jerry was right in what he said. So do not worry about that.
It is so hard to tell now with all the cell phones. It is also hard to trace a number that they call from. You cannot block their calls either because they will just call from another number. This is all getting out of hand.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
Well our snow went quickly and now we are getting all kinds of rain. It is supposed to be below 30 tonight so this is supposed to all freeze. This always happens when I have to go to the doctor or have tests done. It could have waited until Thursday but no way.lol
I do not know why I get everyone confused. Oh well my second guess was right.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
we have been snow so bad here and what do we get freezing rain. I cannot believe this mess. It has been pouring here all evening and now it is getting below 30 so it is supposed to freeze. That is really a pain in the neck. So we will be slipping and sliding all over the place tomorrow. Wish that the kids were on break this week.
I wonder why that kid did not tell someone that he was there with a gun. He did not have to go back into the school he could have called the police or told the principal on the phone. I guess that he was just too scared. They need some type of warning system to let these teachers know if someone sees something like that. They had a lock down at the high school that my youngest daughter went to today. They found a gun in someones car. My daughter was worried that it was just some kid that was going hunting after school. There is no telling and the school had no way of knowing. We will find out later what really happened. I am like all of you I worry about my grands and what can happen to them.
We are celebrating right now for Mandy. She got all of the money together to buy Danyielle’s car. It is so great and she had to work hard to get that money together. D. is not charging a lot for it and that helped also.I am proud of the both of them right now. It was nice of D not to charge her a large price for the car like she thought she could get. It just makes me feel good that the girls are helping each other out.
I do not watch any of that with the parents talking. It is just too hard to listen to. No parent should have to bury a child. That is not the way it is supposed to work. It is bad enough when they are taken by sickness.
I cannot get to my Easter stuff. It is in the closet where they are sleeping and the one bed is up against the closet. So cannot get the door open. I still have my snowman hanging on the door. I usually leave him up until spring. The way things are now he may be up until next Christmas.lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day. That is a good movie that you are watching. We all need to watch cheerful things right now.
have a great night,.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I cannot believe that you are getting our snow. Just send it our way and we will send the rain but will try not to send the ice with it. We will need to keep the cold weather to keep the snow though.
I really like all the pictures that you send. I really like Maxine. She is so funny. IT is funny how you found that right after we were talking about that same thing the other day.
Easter is the first week-end in April. It is early this year sometimes it does not come until later in the month. I love Easter time. We can do so many things around that time of year. I love that they have the tulips out by then and you can get them in pots and put them around the house. I love flowers they make everything so cheerful.
Will be praying that Kay will get to come home. I can imagine that she is more then ready to be home again. It is nice that you can talk to her again. That must have made you feel better that she can get on the phone again.
My mom saved some of my dolls from when I was little. I have them here now and the grand kids play with them now. It is nice to have them here. One of them is a Pollyana doll. It is from that movie. I use to love that movie when I was younger and so my dad got me the doll. I still have the book that they gave me one year for Christmas.
The dishes you posted a picture of are they off of qvc They look like they might be temptations.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night and stay safe if you have to go out.
Colleen -
Hi DD
I collect Annalee Dolls. They are felt dolls , mostly to decorate with. They have them for all seasons, even Patriotic ones. I have some out all year long, given what holiday/season it is.
I wonder how many others hate the new site too. How is it we cannot even find the schedule of shows for the day? Seriously?
It is almost 70 here, and tomorrow we are getting ice and snow. Totally nuts. I hope your snow melts quick, so you can get around to do your food shopping, etc.
When does Kate come home?
I am listening to the kids present at the legislatures in Florida. God bless them. the senators and representatives Bette realize all those kids have parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who are voting adults now, and take heed. “We the people” will speak. I think they forget they all are supposed to vote the way their districts want them to vote, not their promoters. The words of those children, and what they experienced is very powerful.
I am not baking today. But, i am doing a pork roast, with roasted potatoes and cauliflower.
You should try the cinnamon buns the way i do them:
Two packages of Pillsbury crescent rolls.
Unwrap the rolls, and pinch their edges together, making a big, solid rectangle, on either parchment paper, or wax paper
Melt a half stick of butter. Put some of the butter in the bottom of a Temptations baking pan, and up aorund the edges- the 3 quart works great, but,you can use the 9×12 too.
spread butter on the rectangle of rolls you made.
spread cinnamon and sugar on top of the butter- very generously
spread chopped walnuts on top of the cinnamon
Roll up the rectangle, using the paper on the bottom to roll it up- then seal the edge on top, with your fingers.
Cut the roll in about a 2 1/2 inch rolls, and move to the baking dish, leaving an inch or so between rolls.
Bake at 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes- watch them, as ovens differ greatly- they should be a little bit brown on top.
When they come out, spread a mixture of confectionery sugar, and milk to frost. For about a cup and a half of sugar, add a half teaspoon of vanilla, and about 6 tbsp of milk- keep working it, until it is thick, but spreadable. Enjoy!I hope you make them. You can use only one package if you want to make less.
I did get the pot stickers, and nobody here would eat them. they were very salty.
Hope your day is going well!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
What did they find out about the kid with the gun? I hope it was not a problem, and if it was, I hope the kid got arrested. It was good that they found the gun, before something happened. It is so scary with kids in school. Nobody should have to worry that their child will not come home every day.
Last night we watched “While you Were Sleeping”, with Sandra Bullock. That was a good movie too. Then, we watched Kevin Saves the World.
I hope the ice melted today, so you are all safe out there. We are getting ice and snow tomorrow.
That is great that Mandy got enough to buy the car. She has reached another goal. Go Mandy!!!
Sooooo, today I went in to Amazon to get the edible grass for the Easter bags/baskets,and what popped up, to my surprise??? “Bunny farts”, which is edible cotton candy. I was right on it, and bought 3 bags, for JJ, Aizen and Kai, JJ’s friend. When Steph heard about it, she wants some, so Kai could lose the bag I got for him…..LOL LOL
I did get a good chuckle out of the Bunny Farts- go on Amazon, and have a good chuckle for yourself.
Hope your day is ice free, and safe!!!
Adele -
Hi Colleen,
I did read on the Q boards about the raffle for the gun. I’m not sure who was raffling it off but if it was a school maybe they want to rethink that idea. I have been to many places with auctions and raffles and have never come across a gun raffle. There are a lot better things to raffle to raise money as far as i am concerned.
We got tons of rain yesterday. Lots of streams close to overflowing with the melting snow and then the added rain. Now it is cold and everything is frozen again. The weather just can’t make up it’s mind.
Yay for Mandy getting her car! That will really make her feel good not being dependent on you guys for rides anymore. Plus it was nice of Danyielle to sell the car at a reasonable price too. She’s a good sister. It must make you and Ron so happy to see Mandy moving forward with her life. It’s hard to start all over from scratch.
Well at least you got to look at your snow for a little while. I am done with cold and snow. I am ready to stop bundling up even though i know we’ll be doing it for another six weeks at least.
Gail -
Hi DD,
You can keep the snow out by you. I am done with it-although I don’t know if it is done with me. lol
I think we tried the pot stickers a long time ago. We didn’t find them too salty but were just not that crazy about them. I’m still looking for a good place to buy frozen pierogis. I only like the cheese as that’s what we had growing up and it’s harder to find those. I don’t like making them myself anymore so I’m looking for a source to keep some in my freezer. I found a place out east called Millie’s and they are okay but they are not filled enough for me. I just found a new online source so i am going to try ordering from them and see how i like them.
I like the photo of the black and white bunnies and kitty. How cute is that?
I’m glad Kay is doing better and will be coming home soon.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
It’s funny I’ve been reading a lot of online complaints on the q boards about the new home page but i have no problem with it. Isn’t that odd-it looks about the same to me and I can still find everything. They are always messing with that website. I wonder if it depends what you are using to look at it. I am on my laptop using internet explorer. However, I still don’t get my notifications from this site-go figure.
Tell Bobby, Enzo and Jhonny when they get those new socks they have me to thank for it. lol
We watched that Going in Style movie a few weeks ago.
We also watched another one called Last Vegas with Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas. DeNiro and Kevin Kline about a bunch of friends going to Las Vegas for a bachelor party.
I always liked While you Were Sleeping-kind of a Christmas but not Christmas movie and i always find Melissa McCarthy funny. The one with her and Sandra Bullock as cops was funny too-was it The Heat? Lot’s of swearing in that one too but I don’t mind. I think Brent and I originally went to the theater to see that one. He’s always been my movie buddy.
We have been watching the Olympics (I know you hate them-such strong language-lol) I am glad that there’s a break from ice skating tonight as I am tired from trying to watch it all on two different channels. lol Our women are playing hockey for a potential gold. How exciting is that! I just love watching the athletes who have worked and trained so hard. I admire their dedication. It takes a lot to train like they do for years and years. Plus I’m so glad that so many sports that were only opened to men now have women participants too. I just like seeing young healthy trained bodies. I guess I’m jealous seeing all those people who are young and healthy.
I’m sorry that this will be the last season of The Middle. I’ve enjoyed watching that show. In fact I have reruns of it on right now as i am typing. Years ago i used to have QVC on for background noise-now I use reruns of sitcoms or i play music.
I hear the young people are doing an admirable job of speaking up and speaking out. Maybe there will finally be some changes to stop these atrocities. Many of the young people will soon be voters themselves so the politicians really better sit up and listen.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
I wrote an email to QVC about how I don’t like the new format & within hours I received an answer from Customer Care rep saying my email was being forwarded to the appropriate people. You have to give your email address. You have to scroll down to the bottom of the website to find the site to write to.
If I could I would forward the email I got so you could read it. I was surprised to see I got the reply so quick. So maybe if enough people write in & complain maybe they’ll fix it. We can only hope!!!
Colleen, no those cups aren’t Temptations. they’re antiques. I found this website on FB, Brenda’s Antiques, & Finds, & she posts her finds of antiques, cups & saucers, vases, tea pots, & sets of pots & cups & saucers, china dinnerware, gorgeous stuff. I just love looking at the gorgeous things she finds.
Adele, thank you for your recipe for the cinnamon rolls. Using the already made dough makes it so much easier!!! I’m not good at making homemade dough anymore. I used to make my own bread yrs ago but not anymore. I loved the smell of the bread baking. any recipes you wanna send my way are appreciated!!!!
I’ve been watching some of the Olympics just because there’s nothing else on. I think the other networks are showing repeats as to not conflict with the Olympics. I see Designated Survivor is returning next week.
Gail, what are pierogis? I think they may have had them on the q but I forget what they are. Are they good?
We’re still not out of the woods with the snow yet. There’s another system coming our way later tonight or tomorrow morning. 1-3 inches of snow on top of what we have now. After that it starts warming up & a little bit, no more snow down here tho. I hope!!!Well, that’s all for today.
stay well
dd -
Hey Gailster……ok, ok, ok…you have shamed me into saying the Olympics are good. LOL
I have not seen the Heat yet. Ill see if we have it on demand up here. I love those two.
They will be thanking you, for sure. So, should I get them the “Bunny Farts” form amazon too? I told Bobby about it at dinner and he laughed like crazy. I told him I am going to get a lot of mileage on that one. Kind of like the Minnion Fart Blaster. THAT was huge a few Christmases ago. I am still laughing about it. the last time I was at Steph’s Aizen took it out, and had the funniest grin on his face.
I have the windows open, and tomorrow we get ice and snow…seriously?????
Tillie is feeling better today- thank God!
I love the bunny pics Dd posted. So cute.
Any news on Brent yet??
I saw an adorable pic of Jenny and Piper on facebook.DD
I love Designated Survivor too. they have been showing some clips on new shows that look good too. We will have to see.
I hoep you like the recipe i developed. I read my post to you to Gary, and asked him if he understood how to make them from what I wrote….he said “no”….LOL So, I hope you can figure it out. Just ask me any questions, and I will do my best to try to help
I love the bunny pics.
I will try to figure out the email thing to complain too. I hate the new site so much, and cannot figure out if anything is on that I will like. Not good.
Everyone ate dinner with no complaints, so I was good for today.
Hope your evening is good. Hope we do not get too slammed tomorrow with the ice and snow….
Adele -
I have to say I am with Adele this year on the Olympics; sorry Gail, I just cannot get into anything on it. I always LOVE the figure skating; but for some reason, nothing nada…. I think my doldrums spread over into my Olympic spirit. ha ha I was watching Q 2 with Leah W. since I like to see how clothes look on her because EVERYTHING seems to look really good on the size 0; but you have to add more digets to get to me. and they just showed the sweetest clip of our Jeanne when Amy started her show; so I had to stop and order a pair of her capri pants in red. I want something bright and cheerful right now. Can’t wait to do something nautical with it this summer. It is pouring rain here and is expected to for the next few days and nights. It is very cold northwest of us even into Texas, but thankfully just rain for us. I bet you all are getting some too Colleen.
Jerry is on a watching old westerns; and I am watching lots of Andy and Mayberry now. It just makes me feel so good and reminds me of a sweeter time of life. I am sure things went on but we just seemed isolated from them. But I do remember how we had curfews here when I was about 16 and I know you all are familiar with our cities history. Sad times. Sometimes I think we will not ever learn from the bad things that happen.
My computer is really acting up; must be this weather. Better get off it before I just up and lose everything. HOpe everyone is doing good, and you all have heard good news from Brent and your friend, DD. Colleen and Adele, please tell your Moms I would love to sit and talk with them about how life has been and all the many changes they have gone through. I can only imagine. Boy, would MawMaw love to sit and talk with them too. She can really tell some stories. Take care, Barbara -
Hi Ladies,
I went back to the qvc website & found what I clicked onto. Go to the website, scroll down to the bottom of the page. There’s a list & you click on Feedback. A box will pop up & I had to expand it to fill up the screen. Just follow the instructions & fill out the box with your complaints, etc. then send it on.
When I was a caregiver for the elderly ladies, it was interesting to hear their stories cuz most of them lived thru the Great Depression, & several decades, so they saw a lot of changes.
Adele, I was able to figure out your recipe for the cinnamon rolls. That’s a man for ya. I’ll just write it down on paper & go from there.
Kay won’t be coming home any time soon. She called me today & said she has now developed a fever. Not good.
Well, that’s all for now
dd -
DD,
Love the basket of tulips and the lamb and duckling.
I’m sorry to hear about Kay’s setback. Hopefully they will get the fever under control and she will be home soon.
Pierogi’s are a Polish dumpling. They are filled with things like cheese, potato, sauerkraut or meat and sometimes fruit. My grandmothers always made the cheese kind so that is what I grew up eating and that is the kind i like the best. I also make the Lithuanian dumplings which are very similar but filled with meat. I am a big fan of noodles so a dumpling is kind of like a fat stuffed noodle. lol I don’t think they ever sold pierogis on the Q.
Gail -
Hi Barbara,
No new info on Brent yet.
I hope your computer is fine now. It seems some days they just get temperamental.
You know pretty soon we will be the ones that will be telling the stories about what things were like in the “good old days.”
Some of which were really not that good. I’m happy to live in the world of now with all the modern conveniences that we have.
We have seen lots of lots of changes in our lifetimes some are good-some not so good but that is how life is. gosh when i was a kid the thought of people having computers and portable phones was very futuristic-and now that is every day life. That really is kind of amazing.
I understand that the Olympics aren’t for everyone. Not everyone likes watching sports. I guess i was just trying to point out that even if sports isn’t someone thing that maybe at least they can appreciate the hard work that the athletes put into training for their sport. I personally especially enjoy seeing the woman succeeding and flourishing in their sports. I enjoy rooting for the American athletes at this once in a lifetime event for many of them. And the women’s cross country photo finish and ice hockey triumph was really exciting. At least to me.
Anyway, next week will be back to normal and a new season of The Voice will start up and probably another season of DWTS closer to spring. My friend went to see the DWTS tour this year and she said it was such a good show. Every year i say i will get tickets and then they are in Rockford on a goofy day of the week like a Wednesday so we don’t go.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
It’s okay-you don’t have to say the Olympics are good-just don’t hate them as that is such a strong word-at least to me it is-maybe it’s just because of the way we were brought up. I guess I want everyone to at least appreciate the work that the athletes put in and to be able to admire their strong healthy bodies. But now that you said they were good maybe i can make you a fan of curling. lol it’s probably the only sport i could be good at as i do know how to push a broom. lol Sometimes one wonders who invented these things. lol
Bunny farts for the men for sure!!! What man can resist a good fart. I will definitely have to get some for Lachlan as he appreciates a good poop or fart joke at his age. lol They have one of those fart blasters at Jenny’s house too and i must admit sometimes i am compelled to play with it. lol
That is so weird that you and DD find the Q site so drastically changed and I find it a little bit different bit mostly the same. I wonder if it depends on what device you are using or what operating system.
Now you guys will complain and they will change it and then it will be messed up for me. lol
I know I have seen others talk about it too on the Q boards so it isn’t just you guys.
Since you wear crops for longs pants did you get the Quacker special value on Q2?
I tried a pair in the black as i like that little lacing detail.
Gail -
Hey Barbara!
Can you imagine if all our Mom’s got together? How funny would that be. Do any of the Moms wear Quacker, like Tillie?
I have the show on right now, and the girls just broke out in a dance it was so much fun to watch!
I got the new crop grommet pants in dark indigo and black- entered the contest for the light indigo ones. I love Quacker crops, as they fit me perfect as pants- no hems needed.
Well, i saw the movie Gail recommended last night- The Heat, with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. It was funny. Those two women play well with each other.
It is so gloomy here- has not stared to rain/sleet/snow yet.
Only 4 more nights until the regular programming returns…..Gail will be missing them Olympics, and we will be thrilled….LOL
My Aizen stopped by today, with Steph and Heather, until they went to get JJ off the bus from a filed trip. It was fun having them here for a while. Ill load a pic I took of him in his Minnion outfit- took one near one of my Annalee displays.
Hope your weather is good today.
Adele -
Hi DD
I am so sorry that Kay got a fever. She must be disgusted. I hope she can get back home in a few days. It would be so good for her, and you too.
I am going to add a couple of pics of Aizen I took today. I put him in front of one of my Easter Annalee doll displays, so ti is a 2 for 1 pic….LOL he was so active, I did not get good clear pics, as he was a moving target today.
It just started to snow. Yuck for today, as Gary is in NH seeing his customers.
Can you google a movie on your system? I watched the one Gail talked about last night. It was really funny.
Hope your day is good. Are you watching the Quacker show?
Adele -
Hey Gail
Saw the movie The Heat last night. It was a hoot. I died laughing when she was crawling from police car to police car to get out of a door. I also got a kick out of the “Boston” accents and language. It is funny to see ourselves talk on TV, as Boston has it’s own way of talking. With how we say our “r’s”, it can be hard to understand.
Oh,oh…..it is starting to snow harder.
Check out my Minnion pics. He visited today, so I got to hug the stuffing out of him.
I did get the new crop pants- black and dark indigo. Love them! Did you see the girls dancing around- loved it!!
Hope your weather is good. Saw the pic of Jenny and The Piper on facebook- adorable!
Adele -
Hi Everybody,
I do appreciate all the work that the Olympians go thru. I just do not want to watch them skate and play in the snow. I am always so upset that they will get hurt and I get hurt like that all the time. So I guess that I figure that everyone will fall and hurt themselves.
I was very disappointed when I heard that the questions that the kids got to ask the president was scripted by CNN. They were talking to a boy that they did that to. So the kids did not get to ask the questions that they wanted to. CNN should have not done that. He said that they had to submit their question to them and they worded them like they wanted. We may have learned some things if the kids would have been able to speak on their own.
We had ice here yesterday and then today it has turned to rain. So now we are on a rain pattern. I am just wishing that something will happen and it will turn to snow and that would be nice. Oh well I can always hope.
My computer is really acting funny. I can type a sentence and it will not show up for a few minutes. It only happens on this site. It is really strange. Last night I got so disgusted that I finally gave up. Tonight it is not acting as bad so hopefully it will not do that again. We must have Gremlins here.
I need to ask for some prayers. Our nephew that is only 32 had a heart attack the other day and not only that some little kid threw a fidget spinner at him and broke his eye socket. So he has to wear a patch over his eye. My Bil had a stroke and was having trouble walking but they say he is doing better now and he is at home. So if you can pray for them I would appreciate.it.
I love all the Easter pictures that you are posting DD. Sorry that Kay is not getting to come home yet. I wonder what is causing the fever. Maybe they will get it down and she will get to come home. That must be so aggravating for her to have to stay longer. Do you still have a lot of snow on the ground?I was not talking about the cups I was talking about the green pattern dishes. They say new on them. That is just what I read . Should have said that when I posted.
The gun was not loaded. He did not have any bullets with him or in the car. So they just asked him why he had it and he said that he had gone hunting and forgot to take it out of the car. They believed him because he was not a violent kid and did not have issues with getting along with the other people at the school He did received a warning for him not to do it again. I love you pictures of Aizen. He looks so cute in his minnon mask. You should keep him there all the time he makes a good decoration.lol We are just getting rain today so I guess the chance of us getting snow is over for now. They were saying that we have a better chance in March because we do get a lot snow then. We will see. The car will be here Saturday and we are all excited for Mandy. Now she has to get it licensed and insured. She may get a little help with that. we will see. You have really been watching some good movies. We watched Mama Mia the other day. I love that movie. It is so funny and a lot goes on in that movie. Not much else going on here. will try and write more tomorrow.
We are getting rain here also. It is funny that your weather there is a lot like ours Barbara. We watch a lot of the old movies and tv shows around here also. We watch westerns also they are good because we get to see all the old actors and actresses from long ago. they were all so good. It is better to watch them instead of all the news that Ron would like to watch. I can just see if our moms got together and started talking. They would not quit for the whole afternoon. They could have some good talks.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Colleen,
I will be praying for your nephew and your BIL. I hope they both make a full recovery.
I think those darn computer/internet gremlins must travel around from computer to computer. It’s gotten so we are used to being able to communicate through the wonders of the internet but then it is frustrating when things are not working right.
I hope you will get the snow that you want. Personally I will be glad to say goodbye to it for the year but I doubt that will happen. I was all excited this morning when they said next week will be 40’s all week. It makes me feel like we are moving forward to spring.
I remember my SIL was out here when Mama Mia came out and we went to the theater to see it. It was all well and good until Pierce Brosnan opened his mouth to sing. Yikes! He’s really cute but singing is not his forte. lol I see they are coming out with a sequel soon and every time they show the trailer I say-I am praying that Pierce does not have a singing part. lol Plus we saw the musical live when we were in Las Vegas. It was fun with all the music and songs that everyone knows. People were up dancing in the aisles.
It will be exciting for Mandy to get the car. One more step moving forward.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Glad that you enjoyed the movie. I had forgotten that it took place around Boston. That should make it extra interesting. I always like when movies are set in Chicago. I like Melissa McCarthy she is fearless in doing anything for a laugh. Did you see the movie Spy where she is an undercover agent? I do enjoy a good movie that makes me laugh. Dramas are enjoyable too if it is a good story but there is so much sadness in the world that sometimes I just need a comedy. So soon the Olympics will be over and you will be all caught up on your movies. lol I won’t be sad when they are over but it was exciting watching people compete. I will be glad to see my regular programs again though.
I like little Aizen in his Minion outfit. I had Greg show me the Facebook picture of Jenny and Piper. I wish i photographed as good as they do. lol I noticed that Piper was wearing the zebra jacket that i got for Kendall when she was little. That jacket has had a lot of wear and lots of compliments. I got it when I was shopping with my friend Nan at a store called Von Mauers which is kind of like a Nordstroms. It is one of those overpriced places but i got it off the sale rack for a reasonable price and boy have both girls gotten the wear out of that coat. One of my best purchases ever.
Got an update from Brent this morning. He is now on thyroid meds so hopefully that will be take care of. He has to see the cardiologist that specializes in heart electronics next month. He still has to have the endoscope. he was tested for gluten sensitivity and that was okay. They are still looking into Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was one of those things causing the weight loss. I think his potassium was low-I have to look into that. And i think that’s about all for now. So I feel like we are creeping towards answers and solutions.
Hope the grands are more awake tonight. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen
I think Aizen makes a good decoration too. Imagine having him here all day long, I would never get to post a thing…LOL
I heard that the scripted questions were for Marco Rubio, not Trump. I also heard the questions were approved by Rubio’s staff, not CNN. So, now I am not sure what is and is not correct. I am pretty sure (Nancy watched the entire thing, and the after reports- got this from her) the scripted questions were for Rubio. Just not sure if it was his staff, or CNN who did them. Maybe on the of girls on here know????
Of course we will pray for your nephew and BIL. That is awful he had a heart attack so young, and got hit in the eye with those spinners. Is he a teacher?
Also feel bad for your BIL, but glad he is home already with no lasting damage. Just awful. Prayers sent.
We hear you are all having awful flooding. I am praying it is nowhere near any of you.
We got more rain today, and all the snow/ice of yesterday is gone.
So, my tooth has begun to ache- bad. My ear hurts too. Had to hurry up the apt. to get the tooth out- Monday. Had to wait until Monday, as the surgeon only come sin that day. The part left is under the gum, hence the surgeon. Not looking forward to Monday, but am looking forward to getting rid of the throbbing.
Great that Mandy is getting the car this weekend- go Mandy!!
Stay safe and dry, please.
Adele
PS…have been enjoying the movies- love Mama Mia- have that one recorded too. -
Hey Gail
I thought
it was a great picture. It looks like a pro did it. I did notice the cute jacket. When you get something pricey, it will last through a lot of kids and wearings. You must have been thrilled when you saw she had that jacket on. It makes you feel good when the kids love something you got them.
Aizen was funny. He had a cute grin on, when he showed me his Minnion suit. I wish I had a pic of that face. It would be really funny.
So glad there is some movement with Brent. Once those meds work in, he should feel better. I wonder how many of his symptoms will be gone after the meds kick in. I am hoping he will feel much better. The thyroid does a lot and when it doe snot work correctly, it is amazing how much it affects. I hope the rest of the testing does not show anything too concerning, and that any issue will be bale to have an easy solution. Still praying!!
I have pizza in the oven. Gary did not want me to keep a square of the pan free of cheese- he will have cereal. That man! Pizza is the one thing I like to have some tonic with- Coke is my pizza choice. It is the only time I have a can, unless my belly hurts. Coke does wonders for a sick belly.
I will google the movie Spy, to see if we can get it on demand tonight. Another good selection.
Hope your snow is gone, and that you do not have the floods they were showing on TV tonight.
Adele
PS…have fun at jenny’s tonight! -
Hi Ladies,
Colleen, I feel so stupid thinking you meant those cups & saucers. Silly me. Yes those green dishes, shamrock design, are from Temptations. Every time she brings those seasonal designs they always sell out in the blink of an eye. Especially this time of yr. Egg Hunt is one that goes quick. Sending prayers for your nephew, & bil. I hope they’re doing well.
Well, you’re not gonna believe this but we’re getting more snow tonight into tomorrow. It isn’t supposed to stick but I’m fed up with it. I’m getting cabin fever. I haven’t been able to get out to the store. We just had the coldest temps of the yr so far. It got down into the 20s here & lower in other areas. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!!! The only good thing about all this snow is that the mts are getting feet of snow, so the ski resorts are happy. I thought it was supposed to warm up by now, but no. If that cold air hit my lungs I’d be a goner. It’s a good thing Kay hasn’t come home yet. If it hit her lungs it’d be all over for her.
Well, it’s getting on to dinner time so I’ll sign off for now.
Have a great weekend everyone
dd -
Hey DD!
OMG….are you getting all of our snow? I hope it stops, so you can safely go out and do your shopping, etc. I hope the weather is better when Kay comes home.
Well, i burned the pizza tonight. Bobby laughed. Gary did not care, because he does not eat it. Oh well.
I got an email form Tat on her website, so I peeked. They now have a Halloween bowl- I think they call it Halloweenfetti, or something like that. Take a peek at it- you have to go on the regular Temptations website.
I am going to try to get that movie Gail talked about on demand- Spy. Nothing good on tonight, unless Hallmark has a movie- I have to check. Im a little out of sorts due to the throbbing of the dam tooth. I told Gary not to “poke the bear” this weekend….LOL
Hope your night goes well, and you find something good on TV. Next week ouor cutie Tom is back…yahoo!!
Love your pics!!
Love the butterflies and the nice saying. We all need some God.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
You mean to say there’s a man on this planet that doesn’t eat pizza?? Seriously? I thought everybody ate pizza at least once. all I can say is WOW!! LOL
The snow we’re supposed to get will only be a trace if that much. There are patches of snow left, but the roads are pretty clear except in the higher elevations. It’s just the really cold temps that get to me. They say rain is on the way & that will “warm” it up to the 40s.
I did see the Quacker show yesterday. I’m not a big fan of Jane Brown. Lots of things I’d love to get but I gotta pay off my easy pays for now.
I think I saw Halloweenfetti a few months ago, after (!) Halloween. I’ll check it out to make sure. Has she ever made anything with turkeys? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any. It looks like there’s a new set of bowls coming up on Sunday. All the new stuff seems to be flying out the door when she brings it on.Every day we learn something new about the Fl. shooting. Now they say the guard assigned to the school stood outside the school while the shooting was going on. He was a 30 yr deputy sheriff!!! I could understand someone inexperienced freezing up, but a deputy sheriff.??!! I didn’t hear anything about the questions being scripted. I saw one young man go after Marco Rubio about not accepting $$ from the NRA & Rubio refused to answer. He kept at him but Rubio wouldn’t answer. I guess that means he won’t stop taking $$ from the NRA. I didn’t catch all of it. I was hoping somebody would listen to the kids but I guess not. I thought Congress, & the politicians had met their match but I guess not. I don’t know what it’s gonna take.
by the way I had no trouble understanding your recipe for the rolls.
have a great weekend
stay safe
dd -
Hi Gail,
There are times when I would like to throw this computer out the window. That would do no good though. I would have to go out and pick it up and if the window broke I would have to clean that up. Guess it would not be worth it. I wish that we could get rid of the gremlins so we can just go on communicating.
I am giving up on getting any snow. It is supposed to be in the sixties next week so that will take care of that. Well maybe in March we will get some. I can see where you would be tired of it you get so much more then we do. It stays on the ground longer also.
Did you watch the Quacker show yesterday evening. Patrick said that in two weeks they are going to have another big deal on qvc2. I wonder what it will be this time. I need jeans and not capris or what ever those were. They were cute but just not my style.
I agree with you on Pierce Bronson singing. I hope that they do not try to get him to do that again. He said in and interview that they will never talk him into doing any singing again. It will be interesting to see if he does. Last night we watched the Goodbye Girl. That movie is really good I like the little girl that plays the daughter. She was funny. I always thought she had the funny lines. We watched that and Holes that is a good movie also.
That sounds like good news for Brent. They are eliminating things one by one. It is good that he is on the thyroid medicine now and that may help him a lot also. That may make him gain some weight. I will keep praying for him until he is okay. It is hard when you are far away from everyone and cannot talk to them or go to the doctor with them. Talk to them one on one. It is hard to say things that you want on the phone or in an e-mail. If his potassium is low he should eat bananas. They have a lot in them and that will help.
Thank you for the prayers for the family. We really appreciate it. That is about all from here. Have a great night. Hope that the kids were more active tonight.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
It probably would be hard to get Aizen to sit still for very long. He would get tired of being a decoration. He did make a good one though. He is such a little cutie.
I was not talking about Trump or Rubio it was the kids that were scripted. When they were talking to the president about their school I did not see the one with Rubio.
My nephew is a judge. This was one of his cousins kids that hit him with the fidget spinner. This little kid is a little brat at times. He does all kinds of mean things to everyone and not a lot of the kids like to play with him. His family use to come to the hay ride that we always have in the fall. We watch him very carefully when he is here.
We do not have any flooding around here. I am not sure where the flooding is. It has not been on our news. It must be in another part of the state. They said that the streams and low water bridges my flood if we keep getting all the rain. We will see.
Tooth aches are the worse. They can make you hurt all over. I hate when they throb like that and there is nothing you can really do for them. I hope that you have good luck at the dentist and do not have a lot of pain. I hope that you ear will be a lot better soon. I am just wondering if it has something to do with the tooth.
That is nice that the snow and ice are gone now. Maybe you will be able to get out for awhile. I do not mind driving in the snow but the ice is a mess. So many people try to drive too fast and the streets are too slick. So those are days that I would stay home and not even attempt to go out.
How is Tillie doing? I hope that her eye is getting a little better every time that she goes to get that shot. That must be hard to let them give you that shot in the eye.
How is JJ doing? Does he have any more plays in the future or is that it for this year? He looks like he enjoys being in the plays and dressing up. At least he does in all the pictures.
I cannot believe that Gary does not like pizza.. That is really unusual.Does he eat cheese or is it the sauce that he does not like. At least you did not have to cook something else for him he just ate cereal. What would he have done if you were out of cereal. That would have been a problem for him.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night. Thank-you for the prayers we appreciate it.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I should have specified what I was talking about. You had pictures of all kinds of dishes. I love those cups also. My mom collect cups like that. I do not know how many she has left now she have given some of them away.
You are really getting more then your share of snow. Do they know how much longer the snow is going to fall. That is not good that you cannot get out and get some groceries. Do they have a store around there that will deliver? A lot of the stores around here have started doing that. It is really nice if you live in town. They will not deliver where we live.
it sounds like it was best that Kay had to stay. They may not let her come home until it is a little warmer and she can stand it. Has her fever gone down yet?
That picture of that child kneeling praying with his teddy bear is so precious. You always find the best pictures to post on here,. The flowers are so cheerful and we all need to cheer up around here. There is so many bad things going on in the world.
Thank you for the prayers for our family. It seems like it all happens at once,.
Well I did something really stupid last night. I use one of those little epilators to shave the hairs on my face. Well last night while I was shaving that off I got my ear caught in the razor. It did not cut it or bruise it but it is a little sore. At first I could not get it out but finally I got it. I sure did not want to have to ask for help.
Well that is about all from here Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD
I had to sign back in just now too. Aggravating.
I am gals you understood it, as my husband felt it was not clear at all. I should have known not to take his advice on a recipe….LOL Yes, you are correct, this is the one person in America who does not like, nor has EVER eaten a piece of pizza. Can you imagine? It is un-American.
You heard right, the school officer did not go right in. Tonight on the news, they said there may be more police officers who did not immediately get into the building. So many people let those kids down.
So, today, in a town near here, in Winchester, a man who has mental health issues stabbed a 22 year old girl to death, who was just doing her homework at the library. Some people came to her aid, but he stabbed her too many times. Can you imagine? A small town library? They interviewed neighbors on this guy, who said they had gone to the police, as they were afraid of him- that was last summer.
I will have to watch ITKWD all the way through tomorrow, to make sure I see these new things from Temptations. I wonder if they will come out with more Halloween stuff.
We are getting an ice storm, tonight, into tomorrow. yuck.
The remainder of my tooth comes out Monday. My face is swollen, in pain, and I am taking the antibiotic they gov me to take, prior to dental procedures. The dentist wanted to see me today, to diagnose an infection I already know is there, and I did not feel like going, as she would give me what I am already taking. She could not take the tooth out anyway, as she is not the oral surgeon. I hate tooth pain. I never get it, as I take care of my teeth. But, the cap fell off, it was not painful, so I made my appointments for the beginning of March, as I wanted to miss all the ice and snow mess for a series of appointments. I guess I waited too long.
Hope your weather is better than ours!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
Please read my post to DD, as I am throbbing, and can’t write much more….LOL I am the new throbbing Quacker. this sucks. One more day to Monday.
Aizen is a cutie. I love that little face, and the gestures he makes.
Heather came by with Aizen for an hour today. She said my face looked like I was in a lot of pain. Yup. She got that one right. Only 2 more nights.
I told the crew I am not sure if I will be feeling like doing a lot of cooking the first couple of weekdays. I hope it will not be an issue, and I will be good on Tuesday. So, we are getting some cold cuts just in case…..and ice cream.
Do you believe Gary? he does not eat cheese at all.
I hope your area stays out of the flooding. We are getting an ice storm late tonight, into tomorrow . Yuck.
I did find the movie Gail suggested- Spy. It was funny. It was like a James Bond movie, complete with that music, and comedy thrown in. I told Gary it was the best for both of us, as he likes action films, and I like comedy. Tonight is a new Hallmark movie, so that is good.
Have to sign off—-too much throbbing. I am sure the ear was from the tooth- you are correct. It does feel a little better, as I have been on antibiotic for a day now.
Adele -
Colleen’forgot to say that JJ loves being in a play. there is one to be scheduled this spring, and I hope he will make it on time, so he gets a speaking part.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I’m sorry to hear you’re in a lot of pain from your tooth. The gremlins always seem to hit on the weekend. I hope you can get to the orthodontist soon. I was able to get out to the store today. the snow they predicted didn’t materialize last night so they cancelled the winter storm advisory last night. It was in the 40s today & there wasn’t any precipitation. It wasn’t balmy by any means but it sure was warmer!
I checked David’s show for tomorrow, but didn’t see any Temptations pictured, which seems odd since she said she’d be back Wed. night. However I did see a lot of outdoor things in his show. I know it’s a gardening day all day. So, it’ll be interesting to see. I know there are people who get real upset when he has Bose or other appliances on his show. What they don’t understand is that they are under contract to air these things.
I’m slowly getting my Easter things out. Maybe it’s too soon, but it’ll be here before we know it. Is it too soon?
Well, that’s all for tonight.
take care
dd -
Hi Adele,
Some one needs to talk to Gary and let him know that it is not natural to not like pizza. Everybody loves pizza and even little kids will eat it. It has to be hard for you to have to be so careful cooking things that Gary will eat. It has to be hard to cook for him.
They said that the guy that was supposed to be the security guard was not the only one that did not go in there were three other cops that were there nd they did not go in either. Danyielle was mad about that she said that a teacher stood in front of some students and she got killed and the kids were safe. Where are the cops outside watching and one was standing behind his car with his gun drawn. They really dropped the ball on that one. We need to pray for all of them and those men that were there to help. The one guy that was there and did nothing resigned from the police department.
That is terrible you cannot even let you children go to the library. I cannot believe that he stabbed her that many times. At least the people in the library came to do what they could. Thank God for them. We need to find out why there is nothing done to these people before they kill someone. After they have done it, it is too late. We have lost these young people.
I am sorry to hear that you are still having all that trouble with your tooth. I hope that they take you really early in the morning so you can get that stopped. There is nothing worse then a tooth ache. Do you have any ora jel? They say that will really help. I know that they use it on babies but they say that it is good for adults also. Just hang in there. I know that Monday cannot come fast enough for you.
They should give you a few days off from cooking. You have a tooth ache and you have to have one pulled. That is worth at least a week if not two weeks. You should be able to lay around or sit in your recliner an relax for that long. You should explain that to them. lol
Well that is about all from here. Hope that the pain will kind of go away a little so you do not feel it all night.
Colleen -
Hi DD
It is not too early at all. Easter is always uplifting , and brightly colored, and we certainly need that right now.
I was miserable last night. I fell asleep in the recliner, and woke up in agony. I must have gritted my teeth in my sleep. Whatever I did in those few minutes asleep, it was so bad, I called the ER to ask if a muscle relaxer would work better than Alleve on the pain. Of course, they were not allowed to answer, but, they gave me an all night CVS to call. they said the muscle relaxer (left over from my back incident which I did not use ) works on soft tissue, so i took 3 Alleve’s. The dosage is 1…..LOL That is how bad the pain was. I finally went to sleep.
One more day. the tooth remnants come out tomorrow. lesson learned….do not wait to get roots out, even if they do not hurt. My face hurts from my forehead to the left side of my neck. This morning I took 2 Alleve’s, and so far it is bearable. Today it hurts to talk, and eat. So, GAry is having a very quiet day. Amanda stopped by for a bit, and she was shocked at what was going on.
Well, the sleet was only rain here to. It is still raining. Much better than sleet. Tomorrow will be ok.
I am glad you were able to get out to do your errands. You never know when it will get slippery again.
ITKWD is on. he did have a temptations oval baker on, so far. Amanda thought it was very pretty.
Have a good evening.
Adele -
Hi Colleen
read my post to DD for the pain report….LOL
My appointment is 3:00. I told Gary I may go early and look pitiful, and maybe if they have time, they will take me earlier. I will also call to see if anyone cancelled going to the oral surgeon tomorrow, and take their slot, if it is earlier than mine.
Gary is very hard to cook for, unless you want to make hot dogs every day. He loves hot dogs.
Did you watch the Hallmark movie last night? It was cute.
I heard the same thing about the school officer, and the 3 other ones who arrived next. I hate to judge, but, what were they thinking? Did they say the shooter had left the building, and they were outside waiting? I knew he was in there for only 7 minutes, and one would think it took at least 5 for the others to get there. I am hoping we will hear they were looking for him outside, as that would be the only acceptable answer for not going in when they got there. I cannot imagine how the parents of the children who lost their lives are feeling. Betrayed by the people who are there to protect them, I owuld say, and angry. this whole thing is such an awful tragedy.
Oh yes, I have no intention of cooking anything until at least Wednesday.
Hope your day is going well.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I’m sorry to hear about your sleepless night. Maybe the muscle relaxer would help you sleep. They always knock me out. I don’t take them very often unless the Dr. prescribes em.
I watched ITKWD & saw Tara & her new baker, that sold out. I went back to the list I told ya about & it had a lot of gardening items so I’m thinking someone goofed up.
I hear there’s a campaign to get that sheriff to resign. As I was watching the shooting I heard the shooter had already left the bldg by the time the cops got there. That he had strolled out with the evacuating students, & as I watched I was wondering where the SWAT team was. I didn’t see them as they were broadcasting the events. Everybody’s up in arms that nothing was done before hand. But I’m not sure they could do anything. All I’ve heard is the police can’t do anything until a crime is committed. A good defense attorney would probably get him off anyway. Warning signs are one thing, actually committing a crime is another. They can’t arrest someone unless someone presses charges. And those pieces of paper aren’t worth the paper they’re written on, restraining orders, I mean.
I don’t mean to sound like I’m defending that monster, I’m just not sure what could’ve been done. there’s been so many shootings & nothing was ever done to prevent them either. they still go on & on, yet nothing’s ever done to stop them. I think they want a scape goat & the sheriff is an easy target, instead of doing something about those guns of war!!! If you ask me those people who want his head on a platter should look at themselves & see what they did wrong.
There are businesses here that are pulling away from the NRA. Not sure if it’ll do any good.
Well, I better get off here before I say something I shouldn’t say.
Have a good week & I hope you get that tooth taken care of asap.
dd -
Hi Everyone,
Well the Olympics are over and they won’t be back until summer of 2020. lol I kept teasing Greg that I didn’t see any medals won by Lithuania-although I don’t think Poland won any either but at least I did see a few Polish athletes. lol I did watch the closing ceremonies and it is amazing how they made the pictures in the sky with drones and i got to see some of Korea’s pop stars. Music really is kind of an international language. I also enjoyed seeing all the children’s smiling faces when they were participating in the ceremony and it just underlined the fact that even though we may live in different countries and may look different from each other we all are in this world together and are all searching for love peace and happiness.
DD, I don’t think it’s too early to put up Easter decor. Put it up and enjoy looking at while you can as the season for it is all too short anyway. Plus Easter and spring decorations can kind of overlap and we are just a little over three weeks away from the official start of spring. Hooray! Plus sometime in March we change our clocks so we will get the extra light again. I love that!
Colleen, doesn’t it seem like the last few Quacker special values have been on QVC 2? I guess maybe they are not as popular as some of the other clothing brands. I doubt that at this time of year they will have any more long pants as special values as they will be showing more and more summer stuff. You may have to wait until the fall for new long pants designs.
Your poor nephew getting his eye socket broken on top of the heart attack. I am still praying for him. I hope his eye sight hasn’t been affected. who would think someone could throw a fidget spinner that hard.
It’s been a long time since I saw The Goodbye Girl-did you watch the one with Richard Dreyfuss or has there been a more modern remake? I have never seen Holes but I have come across it many times flicking through the stations on the TV.
Does anyone watch Shark Tank? We like to watch it. I can’t believe the number of items that Laurie Grenier has gotten from Shark Tank and brought to QVC. It seems like she doesn’t invent any items herself anymore like she used to do when she first came on many years ago. I remember having her fill a bowl and thinking it was so clever and I used it for many different season’s before finally getting bored with it. I do have several of her jewelry boxes that I still use and probably will for years to come.
Adele, I know that you will be relieved to get that tooth out. Toothache pain is the worst although hopefully it felt better after the antibiotic kicked in. Just rest and relax for a few days and take care of yourself.
No Piper stories again as she was over playing with Isla until almost nine and then when she came home she put on her pj’s and fell asleep. lol She had to get her beauty rest as the next night she was going to the Daddy/Daughter dance with Adam, Gabby and Enya. Kendall didn’t want to go-she is not much of a joiner although she is in 4H. There is a cute picture of the three girls on Facebook. Piper was very excited about going so I hope it lived up to her expectations.
So Gary doesn’t eat cheese of any kind. So I guess you can’t serve him quiche or any casseroles with cheese. So that would leave out lasagna and all kinds of good things. Gary,Gary,Gary a woman has to be a saint to try and feed you. lol But he would eat hot dogs every day-go figure-does he really know what’s in them? lol I like a hot dog but i try to eat them sparingly as i don’t think there’s much nutritional value in them.
So you only drink coke with pizza. What do you drink the rest of the time? I have to admit I am a diet soda addict. I know they are not good for you and they actually make your cravings for sweets worse and all the other things but it’s a hard habit to break. I like water but I also like to drink something with a taste so I couldn’t just drink water and I prefer cold drinks to hot drinks. I’m still searching for something that tastes good but doesn’t use artificial sweeteners but doesn’t have empty calories. Does such a thing even exist?
Glad you enjoyed Spy. We watched La La Land Saturday night. It wasn’t really what I expected. I thought it was going to be more like the old Hollywood musicals. So I kind of liked it but was kind of disappointed too-especially as I like a nice Hallmark movie happy ending. Has anyone else seen it?what did you think?

P.S. Now the Quacker site has changed it’s home page too and I had to search for where they moved the entry to the discussions.

Hi Ladies,
Adele I hope you were able to get that tooth taken out today, & that you’re feeling a lot better now. I see there’s a QF show tomorrow afternoon ET.It’s still pretty cold out here, but the snow is staying up in the mts where it belongs. They’re saying Mt. Hood has seen 7 ft of snow in the past week, & more on the way. As long as it stays up there it’s fine. I hope you’re all safe!! I heard about some bad storms in Kentucky & Tenn.. I’m always struck by how much damage those tornadoes leave behind, as well as the flooding.
I talked to Kay today & she was back in the hospital like she wanted. she thought the care facility wouldn’t let her go. But she talked to another registered nurse & she made the arrangements for Kay. The nurse told her it was her right if she wanted to go back to the hospital. Anyway, she’ll be going to a different care facility, (she hates the one she was in), for a few days till her PTs think she’s able to be alone. And maybe put on some weight.
That’s all I have for tonight.
Stay safe now.

Hi Adele,
I know by now that you have had your tooth pulled and are at home relaxing. I hope that all went well. How long will you be on a liquid diet? That is the part that I do not like just broth or soft foods. Just take care of yourself and let the family take care of you also. You need to just relax and do nothing.
I did not watch the Hall mark movie the other night. We watched some type of Western. Murder she wrote is back on also. I love to watch her just wish they would not show the same ones over and over. I know that there has to be more of them.
The one guard that really upset me was the one that was supposed to be guarding the school to begin with. He just ran out of the building and did nothing. They said that he was the one that resigned. I do not know what the answer is but they need to figure out something.
Not much going on here. So I guess that I will get off of here. Rest and take care of yourself.

Hi Gail,
I like the summer Olympics and watch more of them. I like the swimming and the diving. They have a lot of interesting summer games. Not that the winter games are boring but they are just not my cup of tea.
I do not know why they are going to qvc 2 so much. It seems like they are selling just as many clothes.that it should not make a difference. It also seems like they are changing to the younger hosts and taking shows away from the older ones. I use to love to watch Pat and Jayne in the mornings on style live on Monday and Friday. Now it is Gabrielle and Mary that are doing it so I do not watch it that much. I am wondering how long they will let The host on Saturday mornings cannot remember her name right now. They have Gabrielle doing the same show on qvc2. So I wonder how long they will keep that up.
I just am not happy that they are doing that to the hosts that have been there for so long. I guess that I am just getting crabby.
We have not heard from anyone about Ron’s nephew. So we do not know if he is still in the hospital or if they sent him home. It is hard to get a hold of any of them. I am sure that Ron will find out though. Thank you for the prayers.
The Good Bye girl is the one with Marsha Mason and Richard Dreyfuss. It is such a good movie. I do not like to watch the remakes of some of the old movies. They are never as good. I do not know what movies that we are going to watch this week.We have been watching a lot of American Pickers. I love to watch that show. They have so many interesting things that they find. I like to hear some of these people that they go and see to buy the items from. They really can explain what the item is and the story behind it. I just love history and all the stories that they can tell about it. We found another show that I like to watch. It is Mysteries at the Museum. It is really good. They are saying that William Tell is a myth. It is really a story from a long time ago back in the days of the queens and kings. I cannot remember the country that they said it happened in. William Tell live in Switzerland which I did not remember. I thought that he lived in England.
We watch Shark Tank every once in awhile. It is kind of interesting. it is kind of sad when no one will help one of the people that come on there. The night that we watched they turned this on guy down and he was upset. I could not do that.I am too be a sucker and would have to help all of them.
I hope that we hear from Adele soon. I have been worrying about her and how it went with the tooth extraction. Hope that it all went well.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi DD,
I am sorry that they did not let Kay come home. Maybe they will release from the hospital. That is a shame that she did not like that place where she was staying. That make it miserable if you have to stay at a place that you do not like.
You are really caught in a cold weather pattern. I wish that we could send our weather your way. It is in the sixties here. We should be having your weather and you should be having ours. I am glad that the snow is staying in the mountains and not there by you. Hope that you will be able to get out and get your groceries soon and not have to worry about the weather.
Your spring decorations look so cute. It is a good thing that you got them out. Sounds like you are really upset about all this stuff that is going on. All we can do is pray and teach our young ones to watch out for anyone acting strangely at school. If they hear anything about some one having a gun tell a teacher or any adult they see. Do not feel like you are telling on someone. You may be saving your life and the lives of others.
Well I am going to stop talking about that. It is too depressing. I just keep praying that things will get better.
I love all the pictures that you posted. My favorite is the one of the minnon talking about hiding our own eggs. How right he is we will forget where we hid them if we wait long enough. It is really sad.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

Hi DD
I was wondering the same thing. He was in the building for 7 minutes, and by the time the 3 officers arrived, I am sure he was gone. As to the school officer, who knows what he was thinking, or responding to. Did he know the kid left the building? It is very easy to be an armchair quarterback, as they say, but, who knows what anyone would do, in that timeline of events.
Also agree on the calls about the shooter. If he did not commit a crime, it is a judgement call. Then add if they had him committed, he could sign himself out in 72 hours. We see the signs as signs things were not good with this kid, only because of the murders he committed. When sent to his house, what could they do, unless he assaulted someone. I think he was called by his parents, but, they must not have filed charges. In mAss., the police can still file charges if the family does not. Not sure about Florida.
I feel bad for that Sheriff. I think they are trying to make him a scapegoat.
That idiot Paul Ryan is in TV right now. I can’t stand him.
‘Tooth is out. Pain is gone. Just very sore jaw, and neck- nothing compared to the pain prior to the removal. Dentist did something to get the infection out, manually- gross! Still taking an antibiotic for the next few days.
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
you are our Olympics Anchor. Tillie watched them too. She likes them, and always has.
I loved the movie The goodbye girl. Have not seen it in years. We started watching La La Land, and shut it off. Just could not get into it. We were also disappointed. What was all the fuss about??
So, today i am pain free, accept for the soreness- in my neck, and jaw. I think that is expected with all the pushing and pulling. Have a headache too, but I do not want to take any Alleve’s today, as I need that boo boo to continue to clot/heal. I had some trouble getting the bleeding to stop yesterday.
I like Shark Tank, but, Gary hates it, so we do not watch it that much. Speaking of Gary…..he is very hard to feed. here is a funny for you. At the end of his first marriage, the x wife cooked for herself only, and ate in the bedroom, away from him. There are days I can understand that, and when I tell him, he gets a look on his face like….”did you really just say that to me?” LOL LOL
Gary has not been feeling good, and I want him to go to the ER. He had chest pains on Sunday, and then burped a lot, so he felt it was the fried rice the night before. today, he says he also does not feel well- dull pain in chest. I am trying to convince him to go to the ER, and not go out to see any customers today. I am trying not to argue with him over it, as I do not want to cause a heart attack, but I am watching and listening to him VERY CAREFULLY. If I see or hear anything I do not like, it will be a 911 call. It never ends, does it? It is always when I am not feeling good myself, so I am not on my game, as they say.
Hope you get some Piper soon…. we all need her laughter today.
Adele -
Hey DD
I am sorry about Kay. I hope the hospital helps her, and she can get back home again. Still praying for her.
We are getting a storm on Thursday night, that is supposed to last through some of the weekend. Could be snow or rain- they are not sure. Yuck.
Hope your weather stays good…..Tom is on Friday- yahoo! Did you see the new show Bad Girls? I think it will be good, not sure yet. I htought it was a comedy, and it seems like a drama, with comedy added in.
Hope you have a good day. I am just sore, with a headache today- read my post to Gail for the Gary news…..
Adele -
Hi Colleen
read my other posts for all the news here…..I am too tired to type it again….LOL
I hope you hear some news about your cousin soon. At least, I think he was a cousin. Or, was he a BIL?
I have to eat softer foods for 2 days or so, or things that do not involve a lot of chewing. they also said nothing too hot or too cold. So, that eliminated the ice cream last night. I think I may try some ice cream tonight.
I am so back and forth on my feelings about the officers and what they did. I also think the school officer is the one who should have done more, as he knows the school, and the kids. I cannot imagine being him, and how he must feel right now. The whole thing is just awful, from the calls to his home all those years, to now. It is easy to look backwards, and have opinions, but, none of us are there in the moment. Everyone who ran into that kid must feel they are at fault. If he could not get a gun, it would not have happened. Or, he would have used a knife.
I wish those kids were still alive. So terribly awful. I pray for all of them every day.
Hope you guys are ok, and the roan stopped at your place.
Adele -
Hi DD,
Love the Minion pic. How true is that? lol
I hope Kay will like the new facility better and will get strong enough to come home while she is there.
Today we are supposed to get to 60 degrees and then more bad weather coming in on Thursday. The weather always is up and down come March. But at least springtime is in sight now and there will probably be no more stretches of sub zero temps.
Gail -
Hey Colleen,
You should have watched the Olympics just so you could have lived vicariously with all that snow. lol That sounds like that would be the closest that you are going to get to snow this winter.
I don’t mind if they change around the hosts to the shows as mostly I just copy them and flip through them quickly anyway. Who knows maybe Pat and Jayne wanted to be on different shows so they didn’t have to get up so early in the morning anymore. or maybe they want to cut back on their hours as they have both been there for a long time. Pat especially-she is one of the very early hosts. On the Q boards there were a lot of complaints about Pat and Jayne together as people felt the show was too silly and giggly. I swear people will find anything to complain about and if there is nothing they will make something up. What’s wrong with a little laughter-do they want the hosts to be all serious and sad all the time. I guess I am just too easy going and non critical and just don’t let that stuff bother me or even pay attention to it. I see Gabrielle has that AM Style show on Q2 following the one with Leah on the regular channel on Saturday mornings. Sometimes I will put that on if I am just sitting here at the computer anyway.
We watch American Pickers, Pawn Stars and Storage Wars-Brent got us started on all of those. Mike is certainly enthusiastic about preserving the history of those old items. Sometimes he loses me though when he gets all excited about old motorcycle parts. lol Whenever we pass a place that has a bunch of old rusty stuff in the yard Greg will do his Mike impersonation and talk about the “roached out” treasures. lol
I guess when you watch Shark Tank you have to think like an investor and think if you would want to invest your actual money in a person’s business. Some people’s ideas are brilliant and others ideas are not so good. I don’t feel bad for the people who don’t get a deal because they will probably find another way to get their item on the market if it is a really good idea. Plus sometimes I feel some people don’t really care if they get a deal-they just wanted to get their idea or product out to the public on television. I am a cynic and you never know people’s true motivation. I have also seen where a person gets turned down and then one of the sharks has second thoughts and seeks that person out after the show and ends up investing. So you never know what might happen afterwards.

Hi Adele,
I am with you. Just get rid of the assault rifles. No one needs to have that. When they wrote the constitution the most advanced weapon was a musket which could get off a shot once every couple of minutes. I know we cannot stop mental illness or disenfranchised teens or terrorists but this is something that we actually can do. So lets do it. I can’t stand inaction because no one wants to make a decision. The time is now! If the president has the executive power to do it on his own he should do it.
I am so glad that you are pain free now. It almost makes losing the tooth worth it just to get rid of the pain. I know Greg has gotten crowns cracked or broken and gotten infections before all the work was finished and he was miserable. Actually that’s finally how I got him to switch to my dentist the last time that happened to him. His dentist was a butcher and he just got so stubborn about changing over to mine for some reason that he made himself go there longer than he should have just to prove a point or something. I swear that dentist just soaked him for money as he had a very expensive root canal every time he turned around. Finally he just had too many infections in things that had to be done over and over and he finally left him to go to my dentist and is so much happier there. I really think that dentist did work on him that he didn’t need because he knew the cash was there. Even the kids would tell him not to go there and he just wouldn’t listen as he was being “man stubborn.” Anyway, thousands of dollars later he has finally seen the light and he has not needed one root canal and very little work since he started going to my dentist so I think he now believes me but it sure took him long enough.
I’m surprised Gary doesn’t like Shark Tank as he is a business man.
Poor Greg looked at the guitar that he is almost finished with and realized that there are little hairline cracks in the finish on the front of the guitar so now he has to sand all the finish off and try again. He was so close to being done and it really did look beautiful but i know even though many would not notice he wants this to look perfect.
Do not fool around with Gary. I think he should go get checked out and i hope he does.
I have a hair appointment tomorrow morning. Time to trim and retouch the roots.

Hi Ladies,
I’ve been getting ready for our annual housekeeping inspection on Thurs. I thought it was Fri, so it was a good thing I checked the notice again. They’re in here all of 5 minutes, if that. they know I keep a clean house. But this is a different group so who knows.
I saw a couple of kids from Parkland, Fl. on Anderson Cooper last night, & they were very good. The young man really put his feelings out there. He’s mad as h— about how the politicians won’t do anything. He looked right into the camera & said point blank that they don’t intend on doing anything. He said when they went to the Fl. capital last week they were scheduled to meet with their reps, but only one Republican showed up. It’s the republicans who are demanding the sheriff removed, when it’s THEM that should be removed!!! I heard today reporters Finally saying what I said yesterday, that unless he committed a crime there was nothing the police could do.
I thought they’d do something after SandyHook, or when Gabbie Giffords was shot, or Las Vegas, but no. I don’t know what it’s gonna take. Hindsight is always 20-20 after these kinds of things happen. So many ‘if only’s’. But things never change. Did you know that since that day there has been over 500 school threats, even around here. that was on the news tonight. It never stops.
We’re in for a soggy Wed. & lots of snow in the mts.
Well, that’s all for tonightdd
-
Hey Gail
I totally agree on the assault rifles. heard this am that Dicks Sporting Goods will not be selling them anymore, and will not sell to anyone under 21. Good for them!
That is an awful story about Greg and his former dentist. Dam. I hope he reported him, so others will not suffer under his care. There are dentists that are no good at all. I have been lucky with my choices, so far. Tooth is healing, even with all that went on here yesterday.
Gary had a heart attack- the “Widow Maker” the doctor called it. The blockage was in his aorta. So, he finally agreed to let Heather take him to the ER. As soon as he was checked in, he was whisked away to the cath lab, and they did the 3 stints in his aorta. He was actively having a heart attack. Had he waited, or if he did not go, he would not be here today. he said he had no idea what they were doing to him, or what was happening, it all went down so fast. He is a very lucky man.
Within 20 minutes of his leaving the house, he called me to say he was having a heart attack, and they were taking him to the cath lab. I called our friend Al, who went right over. Al stayed with him until I was able to get there. I had to stay here and wait for Frankie and Heather to get back, to finish the business work, as I knew Gary would no be here today. Most of the Minnions came to the hospital. Steph could not go, as she had the boys, of course. Even Enzo was there. Enzo lost his grandparents, and he was very upset over even thinking Gary would die.
I got home late yesterday. My mouth was hurting, but I think it was becalms of all the talking. It is fine today. I was a little scared the infection was coming back, but, thank God, it is fine today.
He was put in ICU, and after the echo cardiogram and EKG today, he will be stepped down to a regular room, and the, if all remains ok, he will be home tomorrow. I am hoping he will be home before the storm starts Thursday.
He is a very lucky man, and he has no idea how lucky he is. It all happened f so fast, he did not realize the danger he was in. I did prayers of thanks last night. I hope he will be aorund for a few more years, as he deserves a retirement.
Hope your day was a lot less eventful than mine….LOL
Adele -
Hi DD!
Love your pretty pictures. I really need them right now- thank you!
Please read my post to Gail, as all the info is in there. It was a tough day, bit we are through the crisis, and ok. for now.
I have to handle the business with Heather until Gary gets home. I hope he will be home tomorrow.
We are getting an awful storm Thursday. So far, they think it will be all rain. But, I haven’t seen the weather today.
My heart breaks when I hear these kids on TV. Still no action form the legislature. Seriously?? It should have been the first thing they did when they got back in session.
Hope your day is good!
Adele -
Oh my God, Adele, I am so very happy for you all that Gary is okay. He was right there, and he was experiencing the “subtle” symptoms and probably did not really tell you all how much pressure or pain that he was having until even he knew he couldn’t get help quickly. And as you had to see, the quicker the help the better. I am saying a thankful prayer for all the medical staff that went into action to save our Gary. Prayers to you and your family.
I’m sorry that tooth has given you so much pain too. You are taking some antibiotics I guess. I woke up one morning with the right side of my face swollen so badly; and had not had any pain from this tooth that had the abscess under it; but had to find a dentist on a Sat. morning to help me. Was very fortunate that he was extremely sweet and took such good care of me; but all that pushing and probing and getting that horrible infection out left me with a sore scalp even the next day. But I know he had to do what he did; and I was so grateful. I have had some really bad memories of dental things as a child; and it left me really leary of dental procedures. So after that I only go to him now.
Well, guess now is a good time to tell you all what I have been holding back; because of all the “other things” with Sarah and Neal. It is hard even to say now, but here goes. Joey and Lisa are engaged. I can just imagine how you all; as normal loving souls that you are saying what the heck is her problem, this is good news. If Jerry and I felt in our hearts that Joey and Lisa really love one another; we would be very happy. But Joeys reply when we asked him in private, what helped him decide this was the right thing for them both, he looked at us for a long time, and then said something like “I really do love Lisa in a lot of ways, and we have been together for over 15 years, and we both know each other. He also said that while she was gone for over that year when she packed up and moved out; that he dated a lot, and that he said all the women he dated was either divorced at least once; usally more and they have several children, which he said he understood since he should by most people’s thinking be married with children too at his age. So we told him that all we want is for them to love each other and take care of each other. He had given her a ring, but he said she doesn’t really like it too much, he said she wanted to pick out her ring, and all I could think of was how much Sarah went on and on about how her diamond was “conflict free” and how it was a flawless diamond (it is really beautiful) and Lisa’s is not as expensive. Friends, I need you all to help me. I guess the cherry to top the wedding is that Lisa is having it in Ca. where she and all her family live. I have talked to the doctor and he said rather than flying; he suggests a train or bus. We talked to Joey about a train, and he said his Daddy could not be shaken and climb steps etc. and for us not to even consider being there; he was only agreeing to do this for Lisa; and he really needs us to stay here and take care of all the animals and our homes. Can you believe this? All of this has been going on during our other issues; and now it seems that Lisa and Sarah are just the best of friends. Lisa actually stepped outside yesterday (I had baked a ham and they stopped by for dinner) came back in and I could hear Colin just jabbering and Sarah talking, and announed that Neal and Sarah had bought them a new dryer as a wedding gift since Sarah saw Lisa at a LAUNDRYMAT on facebook doing her clothes (she knows she can use our things) and Sarah was just getting the baby to talk to Lisa and wave bye bye, and Lisa said to her “I will call you back when we get out of here” I sang out bye bye baby and he said bye, but it just chrushed me, and I know they did this on purpose. Jerry has told me to just get me a train ticket and go to the wedding and turn around and come right back home. Girls, this has been almost more than I can handle. WIth all your really serious things going on, I feel bad even bringing it up, but just needed to get this off my chest. My prayers are with you all. All my best wishes to all of you. Take care of yourselves and all your loved ones. Barbara -
Dearest Barbara
Do not ever feel what you are going through is not as important as anyone else. Nobody can rile you up, like family. Especially family who are manipulative and liars. Take what just happened here. Gary calls his dear son to say he is in the hospital. he didn’t pick up the phone, nor call back. Ticked me off. No call all day long today. So, about an hour ago, I am in the living room, with the phone that has caller ID, and I see he is calling. Did not answer. I felt he deserved the same respect he showed for his father. About 20 minutes later, he Facebook messages Bobby, who is in my face saying….thanks Mom, now I am in the middle of it. Bobby responds that his father had a heart attack yesterday.
I call Gary, who is all happy saying he called, and he will visit when he gets home. Not. I ask why not tonight? he says he did not get the message until tonight from his father. I tell Gary they have their phones connected to their rear ends, for God’s sake. So, I listen to the message on my phone- he is obviously quite drunk. I call Gary back and tell him why he really is not visiting, and of course, he does not believe it. I saved the message.
Mind you, i do not want to upset Gary, but I am not in a good mood today, and not wanting to hear his lies. Not today, and not now. Since we can be at the end of Gary’s life, I have no further need to pretend. Not today. I am so sick of his ignoring his father, and then pretending to care when he is in danger. We have not heard from him since Christmas, when he said he was coming by- not. The kids came alone a week later. The only time he calls is when he needs a part for his car. Otherwise, not one call.
You are so right about the tooth- t was a lot of tugging and scraping- it was gross. You had to see me walking the hospital yesterday- I was so nauseous, and I had to rest a few times until I got to his room. I am glad I was able to do it, without passing out….LOL THAT would not have been good at all.
Now, that i vented, on to you.
What the hell????? (can you tell I have no filter today?)
I am with you. I think Joey is settling. But, as we know, you have to remain silent to try to continue the relationship with both couples. That is hard. I know. Believe me. But, I know you can do it. You are strong and can put on your big girl panties, and do it. I will bet nether Lisa, nor would be able to. Take heart that you will be modelling proper behavior for those two women, on how family acts toward each other, in very difficult circumstances. The whole thing just stinks. Missing your son’s wedding, because of your disabilities is awful. But,you have to take care of yourselves- both you and Jerry.
I am so sorry you have to endure this behavior.
On the other hand, a lot of girls want their weddings home, where they grew up. Also, Joey may truly love her, as he may have discovered a lasting, loving friendship is what gets you through all the tough times. I think we all would feel better if he actually said he loved her, with all his heart. Not loving dating at his age, and not liking being alone, will not make you feel good about the marriage. You raised your son to be a good man. he is a good man. he will make it work.
the two girls being friends is good for the brothers. the part that is hurtful to you, is that you feel ( for good reason, mind you) the two of them do not feel the same way about you and Jerry.
You know, my old friend who died, dear Maxine, always said we should have a smack day. We could line up the kids/grands who were angering us, and give them all a smack. LOL I hope I made you chuckle! It is a funny visual!
I am also glad you got a chance to have Colin recognize, and let those two women know, he loves his Nana, and there is nothing they can do about that
I hope I was able to help you, and have you know we are all goign through family pain, form time to time. It is totally normal. No family is hunky dory all the time, they just cannot be. Sooner or later, something ugly or upsetting will come up. Thank God we are all here to listen, and provide some words of comfort to each other.
Your very cranky ( and scared to death) friend, Adele -
Hi Adele,
I am so sorry to hear about Gary. Thank God that Heather got him to the er and you could get there to be with him. I will be praying that he will be okay and can come home. He was so lucky that they caught it right away. I know that you were worried about him. Why are men so stubborn. He should have gone when you first told him that he needed to. Thank God that you take such good care of him. You kept him from getting too bad.
Are you doing okay? That had to be such a shock and it had to upset you. That is terrible about Gary’s son. At least he has Bobby and Heather that worry about him and will help out with him. You are lucky that you have such a good family. Does Gary have other children other then a son? I thought something was said about a daughter. I might be wrong though.
Do you ever watch American Pickers? If you like history that is a good show to watch. They were at a winery the other day and they found all kinds of nice things. It was interesting to hear the man that owned it talk about all the things that he had. It also takes your mind off of other things. They are always finding things that I have never seen.
That is about all from here. You and Gary are in my prayers. I hope that he has a speedy recovery.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
You are right about the snow. We could have pretended that we were having all that snow here. That is the only way that we would have any. Maybe in March we will get some snow. They say that we have a better chance then.
It just seemed like they changed it so fast that they did not even say anything to anyone. I guess that I am getting old and just want things to stay the same. They really did cheer you up if you were having a bad morning. They did always smile and laugh and that made the show really good. They are older and know what older people like. I just feel like they are starting to go with younger designers also. They have had a lot of new ones on there here lately. Do not get me wrong I like Gabrielle and Mary both. It was such a surprise when it happened. I really like Leah also. I do not know why I could not remember her name. I watch her every Saturday.
Sometimes I wonder how Mike can put up with Frank. He really can get upset over the little things. The other day we watched he got mad because Mike was taking up too much room in the van. He grabbed a toy out of Mikes hand and told him it was his thing not Mikes. I guess that they get so excited about things that they do get a little grumpy. They are fun to watch. I also like to watch Robbie when he is one there. He has to do so much for them and he seems to take it in stride. I just really like that show. Danielle has so many tattoos that I do not think that she has another place to put one. She seems like a really nice person also.
I think that I am just cranky today. Ron had me get up and 6:30am to get ready to get groceries. He wanted to go right after we took Brook to school. I could not believe it.One thing though when you go that early there are not many people in the store. We had to go to Wally world first and got right in line without waiting. Then we went to Country Mart and it was the same there. I think that next time I will wake him up at 1:00am and tell him that the store will not be crowded. Our Wal-Mart stores stay open all night
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Barbara,
That must have been a real shock to you and Jerry. I wonder why Joey did not tell you sooner. I agree with Adele if it is not good for you to go then do not go. Stay home and take care of yourself and Jerry.
I cannot see this friendship between Lisa and Sarah lasting for very long. Sarah will get tired of her soon and will not treat her that well. Lisa needs to know that you are the one that they will be living around. When she needs someone you will be the one that will be there for her. You are such a good person and neither one of your dils should be treating you this way. I will be praying that this will all work out and things will get better. They should not have told you in this way. It was good that you said something to Colin. He loves you and he needs to know that you will always be there for him.
This is a serious matter for you. We all understand how you feel and are glad to be here to listen. It is nice to have a place to vent and not just talk to our husbands. They see the hurt that we feel but do not know what to do or say. Ron is like that and he tries very hard to make things okay.
I guess all that any of us can do is just pray that things will work out for our kids. We cannot say anything to them because they will not listen. You did give him things to think about and that is about all you can do. You are smart to let the boys know that you are there for them no matter decision they make.
Just hang in there my friend, We will be praying for you and you make the right decision that will be good for you and Jerry.

Hi DD,
Good luck with your inspection tomorrow. My daughter lived in an apartment where they came in and inspected all the time. This group might be a lot better.
Have you heard from Kay? I wonder if they will release her from the hospital to her apartment. That would be nice and then she would not have to go to another rehab place. Is her sister still there? I cannot remember if you said that she lives close to Kay or if she has to travel to get there. I will be praying that things will go well for Kay.
Have a good night.

Hi Colleen,
Frank and Mike are quite the pair. I know Mike has a daughter but I’m not sure if he has a wife and I know Frank is a bachelor.
I think Danielle is the oil that keeps the whole machine running as she seems to find all the places to send the guys to. A guy that works with Greg stopped at Antique Archeology once and he said there was nothing much in the store at all which I thought was interesting.
Yes the stores are less crowded when you go early in the day. I used to like to do that but now I like my sleep much better. Plus Greg has been doing grocery shopping for me lately. Ron’s lucky that you didn’t get the ingredients for potato soup what with making you go so early.
I think I saw some robins in the yard a couple of days ago. If so they are back early. I always feel so bad for them when they come back and then it snows again.

Hi Adele,
We have talked in e-mails so you already know how concerned I am for you and Gary. I wish the doctors wouldn’t use the term “widow maker.” A person already knows their loved one had a close call and doesn’t need it to be pointed out so bluntly.
Please don’t waste your energy being angry at Tommy. He is an ungrateful son. Maybe this will be a wake up call for him.
I understand you having no filter right now. You have all been through a very traumatic life altering experience.
Just know that we are all here to support you, pray with you, hold your hand and listen if you need to blow off steam.
It looks like you are getting another spat of bad weather this weekend out east. You guys don’t get a break as far as the weather is concerned.
We have tickets to see an a capella group called Voice Play Saturday night. I guess they were on that show called The Sing Off-we watched it but i don’t remember them. We also have dinner reservations before the play. I think our weather is supposed to be okay.

Barbara,
I’m glad you finally decided to tell us about Joey and Lisa. I know it does not sound like a whirlwind love story but really after being together through thick and thin after 15 plus years they probably already do feel kind of married. So they have already advanced through the stages of young love to the comfortableness of a long standing relationship. I guess we never really know what is right for another person and just have to hope and pray that their decisions make them happy.
Gosh, life never turns out how we imagined it does it? It is very hard to readjust our expectations and learn to bend with the changes that life throws our way. Just look at it this way. You have raised three wonderful sons who have chosen careers that make them happy and proud. They know how to take care of themselves and are contributing members of society.
As to whether or not to attend the wedding I would just listen to your heart on this one. It will tell you if you need to be there or not. It may not be that big of a deal to Joey as they have been together for 15 years this may just be a formality to him. However, if you do go to California it might give you some time to spend with Colin too. I don’t know what the distance is between where Neal lives and where the wedding takes place but maybe you could do some babysitting while Neal and Sarah are at the reception or something.
It just made me think how different we are from the younger generation. They post everything online-and the last thing I would think of was to post a picture of myself doing laundry. It really is a whole different world.
Plus the whole engagement ring thing made me think of myself. My goodness-we just wanted to get married and did so with matching gold bands. It was many many years later before I got a diamond. Sometimes I think the younger generations expectations are backwards. I guess I’m just getting to be an old fogey. lol
Anyway, I’m glad you told us what was bothering you. You know this is a good place to come that offers no judgement but does offer support and encouragement.

DD,
Hope the inspection gets done quickly without any problems.
My husband said that one of the ladies that works for him had to leave to go pick up her child from school because it was on lockdown because of a threat. This is getting out of control. I feel bad for kids in school now. When we went to school we never had to fear for our lives. These poor kids no longer have many years of innocence in their lives. It makes me cry.

Starting a new page for March. It snuck up on me. See you all there.

Hi Colleen
I am a little stressed out, as you could hear from my post to Barbara/ Hope I did not freak anyone out….LOL
Gary had a child he adopted from his x wife , when they married- a daughter. She was 2 when he adopted her. She committed suicide a while ago. It was awful.
Gary’s supposed to come home today. He is waiting for all the paperwork to be completed at the hospital.
I ended up real sick last night- a belly thing. I think it was all the stress. The belly is still very sore today. It will pass.
I have heard of that show, but have never seen it. What channel is it on?
Thank you for the prayers. We definitely need them. So does Barbara, Brent, your BIL, Kay, Gail’s friend, etc. God is very busy.
Hope your day is good- we are getting a nasty storm tonight, whihc will last for 2 days.

Hey Gailster
I am almost afraid to re-read my post to Barbara. I hope it was not as bad as I am thinking. I should have waited to post this morning.
You are right. he does not deserve any attention from me at all. I really hate how disrespectful he is, and get very “mother bear” on him. I have been able to hold back my feelings when we see him, or he calls. I would not have been able to yesterday.
We are waiting to hear when to pick up Gary. I hope it is soon, as he is getting very testy. I told him to calm down, or his blood pressure will go up, and they will keep him. He has no patience, and wants out now.
I do need some prayers, as my belly went nuts last night, and I am sure it is all the stress. Belly is very sore this morning.
We are getting blasted again tonight, and it will last 2 days, they are saying. First it was to be all rain, and I just heard it is changing to snow, and the totals are going up.
Hope you have a good time at the play. Hope your weather cooperates for a very good time.
Your cranky friend……Adele -
Barbara, Gail, and Colleen.
The girls gave yo very good advice, it was kind, and nicely said. We have good people on here, and we are all lucky to have each other. They are right. Sometimes prayer is the only answer. I hope you come to a decision on the wedding that will be good for all of you. I also hope they will have a good marriage, and you will have more grandbabies. You are a great Nana, and the more the merrier!
I hope I did not offend you in anything I said. I was the “mother bear” defending her hurt friend. I was in bear mode last night, with everyone.
You are all in my prayers, every day…you too DD,and Sue.
Love, Adele
