Hi Everyone,
Happy July 4th! -
Hi All,
DD, I’m so glad that you have your new kitty! I’m sure you are having lots of fun getting to know each other. She is lucky to have you for a cat Mom.
I got one of the Valerie TSV’s and sent one to each of our kids. Each year i like to get a couple of decorations for all three of us. That way when Christmas comes even though we may not be all together we at least each are looking at some of the same decorations in our homes so we can be together that way.
Another morning with rain. I swear it rains every day here lately. It’s like being in Florida where you never know when a rain shower will blow in and then blow out again. It makes the grass grow like crazy and the mosquitoes hatch like crazy. The dragonflies out by the pond have more than enough to eat this summer.
Barbara, You were not on a rant – there is one host Kirsten Lindquist that insists on changing into every single swim suit that she shows and she annoys me no end as I think she just wants everyone to see how fit and trim she is. She always seems to be looking into the monitor at herself. Hello-there are models who are specifically hired to show the swimsuits. I don’t need to see it on a size extra extra small. so there is my rant and if anyone wants to think I’m bad for saying it so be it. I guess that woman just irks me for some reason. I think because she also wrote a book about adopting a baby and then later getting pregnant and i thought well gee the same thing happened to me and I didn’t feel a need to tell the whole world about it-i didn’t think anyone would be interested besides us. So I just think she has kind of a big ego.
I must say I don’t know what gutter helmuts even are. Maybe you should educate me and then you can prove to Jerry that you were listening.
I must say i have never used audible but there are some who use it exclusively and love it. I figure as long as someone is reading – no matter how they’re doing it-it’s still reading and that’s a good thing. So what are you listening to?
That’s funny that you don’t make the moves fast enough for Jerry. Actually, I think it would be hard to share a solitaire game. Hey-isn’t that why it’s called solitaire-because you play it yourself? lol
Adele, I never trust online sizes and always order up for them. I guess leggings are supposed to be tight and therefore probably not too comfortable. some of them seem more like tights than than like pants. Let us know how you fair in them.
That might be a good idea if your doctor will prescribe a low dose of prednisone for pain relief. I know some people with severe RA are on very low doses for years and years.
So I would take bets that you bought some of that chocolate goat poop for Christmas gifts. lol
Greg and I love to play games-especially trivia but we will play other things too. The kids like to play Uno. When we travel we usually take a cribbage board with us to play in the motel at night. We used to have game nights with the kids and their friends. That was so much fun. I miss that stuff. With all your girls and their boyfriends and fiances you could have very active game nights. Or play games when everyone is over for holidays. I love to do that. Did you ever play catch phrase? We like that-sometimes we would play charades too.
We went to the casino boat on Saturday and didn’t have much luck. But we had fun and went out to dinner afterwards. I was so tired when we got home since i hadn’t slept well the night before that i sat down on the couch to watch some TV and fell asleep and slept there all night long.
Gail -
Hey Gailster!
We did play Catch Phrase. then they took the game home, as more of them are there to play, and we did not lay it again….LOL I have to say that Tillie was hysterical when we played it. Her answers had us in stitches!
I am dying to see a pic of DD’s kitty. She messaged me that April’s Dad died. he was hit by a car, and died yesterday, I think. So awful.
I nearly died laughing when I read about the host changing into bathing suits. Seriously????
It is going to be funny to see if I can get the leggings on….LOL Guess what- since on the prednisone, I lost 5 lbs. I have been baking and cooking, and moving more. I am going to present my case to my new doctor today. Also have an appointment with the arthritis doctor, so I will give my speech there too- that one is next week. I am hoping they will see it my way. As of this moment, with the prednisone, I do not even need a shoulder surgery. Don’t get me wrong, the shoulder still hurts a little, and I cannot lift things, and it still gives me a little squeak of a message when I move it the wrong way, But, this is VERY livable. Say a prayer he agrees….LOL
How is Brent??
So, i baked lemon squares and spinach squares yesterday. I love spinach squares. I could eat them at every meal. Almost no carbs- 3 boxes frozen chopped spinach, one diced onion, 4 eggs, cup parmesean cheese, 4 oz finely chopped cheddar, and only about 1 1/2 cups of Bisquick or other pancake mix- bake for 25 minutes, and done! Yum, yum.
I am having company tomorrow. Nancy is coming with 2 of my older foster parents- one is u for the week from Florida, and we usually all get together when she is here to say hi. After they leave, I go to get the permanent crowns put in . So that will be done too.
I got some stuff yesterday- the 30 inch outdoor Elf. i was hoping they would bring back the snowman to match with the other 2 I got- the Santa and nutcracker. They only have the snowman in white and gold, and he will not match. So, I got the Elf. I wanted to complete the outdoor set. i get one per year….LOL Also got a few sets of the tiny ceramic trees- those will be gifts for the women in the offices of our customer from the business.
I got the cute chipmunk with the video of his habitat for Aizen, and the adorable worm for the new baby. Also got the Gnome game for Aizen, as he loves Gnomes. Too funny!
So, my Q card bill arrived today. It is the payment equivalent of a mortgage this month…..LOL You know me, pre-planning for December…..LOL
Gotta go and finish getting ready to plead my case with the doctor…..
Hope your day is good. humidity is gross up here, and it stormed all weekend long.

Here are a few more pics that didn’t get posted the first time around.

I thought I would drop by to tell you ladies not on Facebook that Angel’s dad died. He was taking his daily walk last week & was struck by a car & passed that same night. The family was with him when he passed. I feel so bad for her as she did the show yesterday. I am glad she had Patrick for support. Now they are trying to get a memorial together.
-
Hey Sue
thank you for the information. That is just awful. I can’t imagine. So many elderly people are getting killed walking. Just not right.
My prayers will be with Angel and her family.
How have you been, in all this humidity??
Adele -
Hey Gail
Love the pics!!!!!
dele -
Hi Sue,
thanks for the information. Adele said something earlier about April’s father being hit by a car but I had no idea what that was all about as I couldn’t think of any April. Now it makes sense as April must have been a typo of Angel.
That is so sad. The poor man was just out for a walk. She will be in my prayers.
I hope that you are feeling well. Hopefully you will be able to get some of those fresh veggies this summer from the farm stands.
Gail -
Hello Girls
Dear Lord. It must be the prednisone……I meant Angel.
thank God you all know me!
Adele -
Hi All,
Well I am back and I have a lot to catch up on.I did not realize that Angel’s dad was still living. That is just so sad to just be walking and get hit by a car. People should watch for people walking and not be so careless. Angel and her family will be in my prayers.
My grands all went home and I miss them already. We had such a good time together. We had fun playing in the pool. Ethan would not get in. I think that he might have got in maybe one time and said it was too cold and got out. He did not get back in again. Aliza, Owen, and Kaylee did not want to get out. It was really funny. Aliza would fight if we tried to get her out and we would stay in a little longer. I am so glad that we got the pool even though Ron isn’t.
Adele I have been on prednisone also. They fiund that I have osteo arthritis in my knee and it was swollen so they had to bring the swelling down and the pain. I am done with the pills and my knee still hurts so will have to have a shot. I am waiting to see if it stop hurting.
I thought they had some cute things on CIJ this time. I also got tsv for my sils. I got three with the Church in it i am sure that they will all like them. I also got that dog that has the puppies hidden. Aliza has been wanting a dog and Danyielle will let her so maybe this will be the next best thing. She will be so excited when she sees the puppies. Did anyone watch the food show that David had on Saturday? I do not know what happened but it seems like both channels went down and they kept playing the same commercials over and over I remember how the one on 137 started It started with the straw hats and Amy Strand talking about she liked it. I wondered what happened. I never did hear what happened.
I think that I have a lot of reading to do to get caught up with everyone. DD I am so glad that you got a new fur baby. The pictures that you sent were so cute. I know that you will get a lot of joy out of having this baby too.
Well that is about all from here. I hope you all have a great night
Colleen -
Colleen,
I’m so glad that everyone enjoyed the pool (except Ethan and Ron) It’s hot today. If we had a pool it would be a perfect day to get on a float and float around the pool and jump in when it gets too hot. I had Greg all talked into one last year and then i really thought better of it and figured we should really use the money to update our kitchen and master bath. Of course we haven’t done either of those things yet. We are slow. lol
I’ll bet Aliza will really like that mom and puppies. I saw it and thought it would be cute.
I’ll bet your SIL’s will like the TSV’s too. I know I would like it if someone gave it to me.
I must have had that program on in the background on Sunday as I did see the part where everything kept repeating over and over. i just figured something got stuck. I have no idea how long it lasted.
I’m looking forward to gem day on Friday. I know you aren’t a jewelry person but I like jewelry-especially gemstones. Coincidentally I am reading a book called Rise and Shine Benjamin Stone about a man who owns a jewelry store and it talks about all the different meanings of the gems and he gives people different gems to help them with different aspects of their lives. It’s by the same author who wrote The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. I know you read that one as i think I sent you my extra copy.
How is your garden doing? I know you are always a few weeks ahead of us so you may already be getting veggies.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
You are having a busy day today. How did the crowns go? And the doctor’s visit?
It seems like somewhere you told me there were new Temptations butterfly mugs but I sure can’t find them. However that’s okay as I just bought two Polish pottery Halloween dinner plates. I collect the Polish pottery as it is my heritage-the pieces are expensive but I just love to use them and look at them. Plus a seller on Etsy was having a sale. I just need the two plates for the two of us. Plus I have two regular dinner plates and quite a few cooking and serving pieces. I gravitate toward the pieces with flowers or butterflies. What a shock!
Hey! I am making sausage and peppers tonight.
Somehow I missed the gnome game, the chipmunk thing and the worm. I guess i didn’t watch as much as I thought i did. I usually see the stuff on line but I guess I missed it there too.
We have a friend that tries to act the stuff out when playing Catch Phrase which is very funny. We usually play teams-boys against girls.
Brent is doing good. His check up was good so hopefully the heart issues are taken care of and he can concentrate on the back and the ulcerative colitis.
Here is a picture of a cute wreath that i just got from Etsy.
Gail
Did anyone get the Quacker Big Deal from Q2 the other day? i wasn’t really interested. I like the D and Co special today better. i love those fit and flare tops as they cover my big butt and belly. -
Just love all the patriotic pictures. This has always been a special time of year for us. When we were younger; we would always have these large family cook outs; loads of food; games, jokes, card playing, children of all ages; wonderful memories. Sarahs parents are visiting right now; and Neal will be going back to Oklahoma the end of this month for another 4 weeks of training. He will not be in NC for Colins 3rd birthday; but I imagine they will be celebrating when Neal gets back home. Colin goes to “Preschool” when they are both at work. We miss them. There are just so many reasons that I wish I had more influence over but don’t so I just hope we can see the baby soon. Jerry makes me so nervous when we drive that busy interstate, and it is probably more me than him; so I guess I will leave it at that.
So glad Brent got a good report from the doctor Gail. Now he can concentrate on the other. And what a great thing that the Pred. had good effects on your shoulder too Adele. Woo hoo love hearing good things about health. We love that kind of news. How is the mommie to be and itty bitty feeling? Gosh, this is such an exciting time for everyone. I have always thought the little belly was so beautiful, and I think of how we used to “hide” our baby bumps under those large maternity tops and now the young ones wear clothing that is form fitting. How times have changed.
Gail, I did have to buy the Kirks bracelet of the 12 days of Christmas. I thought it was so pretty. I bet you are looking forward to gem day. Do you have any opal pieces? I don’t but am really likeing the stone and how it shows so many different colors. I bet you find something special that day.
I too am happy that DD has her a beautiful new baby. DD will continue being a wonderful kitty mom and her love will just keep making a kittty happy and loved. Bet they are busy getting to know one another.
Colleen, it sounds like you all had a wonderful time with the grands. I bet it is just too quiet at your home now. Have you caught up on your rest yet? Jerry and I fall asleep just watching TV. We are just fireballs of energy down here. ha ha But you all are making such wonderful memories for your girls and their children. That is so special.
Sue, I didn’t know that about Angels dad. I will remember her and her family in prayers. That is so sad.
Jerry and I just found out that Joey and Lisa are going to some friend of Lisa’s on the 4th for a cook out. It has been storming here everyday; sort of like Florida weather with a daily thunderstorm; so no one here to eat with us. So not really sure what we will do. Take care all, Barb -
Colleen-it’s Rise and Shine Benedict Stone-not Benjamin.
-
Hi Barbara,
I was saying the same thing. We are having Florida like weather where some time every day a storm will roll through. It’s very weird.
Illinois now has the second highest gas tax in the country. Aren’t we lucky? That and the raising of the license fees are going to drive more people from the state and we are losing enough people already. We are lucky we live close enough to Wisconsin that we can go there to buy our gas if we want to. I will make it a point to fill up there if I am headed in that direction. Our new governor is a jerk.
I don’t think it’s the way Jerry drives on the freeway I think it’s the way everybody else drives. All those big trucks are nerve wracking. Sometimes I wish there were separate roads for cars and trucks. lol Although Jerry was a truck driver so that stuff probably doesn’t bother him. I liked the old days where we could take back roads everywhere-but now if you want to make good time you are forced to take the interstates.
We will probably be just us for the 4th too. That’s okay-we are used to it. I figure the young people probably have different stuff that they want to do on their day off. We see everyone just about every Friday so it all works out.
Yes we wore those voluminous maternity tops years ago and now it’s the complete opposite direction. Although sometimes I think certain of the modern tops can be a little too tight. I think there’s a happy medium.
What do you all think of the big gender reveal parties? I think they are kind of silly. But maybe that’s just me-it seems like in the era of Instagram and Facebook everything has to be made into a photo op. I doubt that not everyone in the world is as excited as you are about the gender of your baby. I’m really starting to sound like an old curmudgeon. lol
I like the 12 days of Christmas stuff too but I ended up getting the water moon Santa necklace and earrings.
I have quite a few opals since it is my birthstone. I really like those newer Ethiopian opals as they are way more colorful than the older white Australian opals. I have a few of the Ethiopian opal pieces now and they are quite beautiful and very colorful.
Happy July 4th Everyone!
Stay safe and have fun.
Gail -
Hey Colleen
So glad you all had a good time. Pools do that to kids. Water and kids go together. I am so happy for all of you.
Didn’t Ron enjoy seeing the kid sin the pool? I bet he did have at least one good laugh.
I was cooking today, getting the mac salad done,a nd more spinach squares.
I caught the baby bunnies on the lawn tonight- posting pics.
Where are the pics of DD’s cat????
I have only 2 more days on the medicine. One pill a day. Hope it makes it easier for tomorrow. I can’t believe how much of the arm swelling is gone. Oh well, back to reality shortly.
I have Al and Joanne coming tomorrow, and a good friend of Heather’s-Michelle. Marissa and Enzo are coming in the morning with the dog,and then going to his cousin’s. It will be a busy day, but, that is good.
I am thatching a pic of me and my new hats. they are really funny. I got the Patriotic ones, and the pumpkin ones popped up on Amazon. Too funny!
Hope you have a great Fourth!!
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
I love the wreath! I am all about the red, white and blue this year.
The lamppost form the Q arrived- it is gorgeous. We had to get rocks to pout in the base, so it will not topple over. i did not want to have them drill holes into the concrete, or have it permanent in the grass, hence the rocks instead. It is so pretty at night!
So relieved Brent is doing better. best news ever for today.
The dentist went well, both crowns are in, and I am done with that.
I liked my new doctor. He listened, and agreed I need some help to get my life back. he is not thrilled with a long term prednisone solution, as he is afraid for my bone mass. he had me lookup a newer set of drugs, and wants me to discuss them with the arthritis doctor, who I see next week. They are called DMARDS. I checked them out, and their side affects looked scary. So, we will see.
The butterfly Temptations are on the Temptations website, not the Q. I got some of the things from CIJ already- the Elf came. So did the 2 peacocks. A lot of the toys I got were not featured in shows. I was scrolling on the website….LOL the little snail for the baby came today too.
What are you doing tomorrow???? We have company coming. It will be a nice day, I hope. But very humid. Yuck. you can’t have everything!
Hope you have a good day tomorrow.
Adele -
Hey Barbara!!
I have been hearing how hot it is down there. My nose would not come out of the door, for sure. I hate humidity. It makes me feel so sick.
Please read the post to the girls for all the up-dated news. Not too much going on. I did post the funny pics Heather took of me. I ordered 3 Patriotic hats, and then the pumpkin ones popped up- had to get them as I am all about the pumpkins. I look a little tire din the pics, but, who cares! i am alive, and smiling, and that is all that counts. I wish Quacker would come up with cool holiday hats- imagine how pretty they would be??
Have you and Jerry gone to see the kids yet? i think form what you say, you are waiting for them to say ok. that is fine.
So Steph is talking to me. I thought she would not speak for a while, when I had my little Prednisone melt down…..LOL
Hey- have you ever heard of DMARDS drugs for arthritis, etc? Do you have an opinion on them, versus low does prednisone?
Will you and Jerry go out for dinner tomorrow, or stay in? It sounds like it is too hot to BBQ down there right now. I hope you get to have some fun together…..which may or may not involve a hat…..LOL Gary thinks I have lost my mind. I am just so thrilled with very little pain every day right now, life seems to be all new for me. I can’t believe this is how other people live- pain free days. Dam, it feels good. two more days……God has been nice to give me a little break, and I am grateful. I wish I could take everyone’s pain away.
I am heart broken over these people at the border. Every time i hear another story, i get weepy. I feel everyone has no business celebrating this good country, when we have people in cages on the border. This is just not the America I know and love. This inhumane treatment has to stop. It reminds me of Germany, in it’s very, very dark time. I have trouble living with those images, as I lived my whole life protecting children from harm, and helping people. this is just not the American way.
I do not even want to hear about the tank craziness. All that money could feed, clothe, and house those people while they wait for asylum. Such a waste of money, our good earned money, actually.
Sorry for the rant- just heard another piece on it…..yuck.
Have a great Fourth!!!!
Adele -
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GOOD SAFE AND HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY
Be safe out there, and treat everyone you see with kindness, as it is, and always will be….. the American Quacker way.
A prayer for Angel and her family as they deal with the terrible loss of her Dad.
Missing the wisdom, and great stories of our dear Jeanne Bice.
Love, Adele -
Adele,
I take two Dmards and have taken them for years and years. I take both methotrexate and sulfasalizine. I have probably taken both in various dosages for 25 years.
I take methotraxate under the name Trexall – but that is the very very expensive non generic pill. The regular methotrexate is very affordable.
I take folic acid to offset the side effects of the methotrexate.
Some people have stomach issues with the sulfasalizine. I believe they start you off slowly to get you used to it.
I have had only two problems with the sulfa-you have to be careful out in the sun and once years ago I was at a double header baseball game and was out in the sun too long and got hives. So I learned to be careful about outside time and to use plenty of sunscreen.
Another time they changed my prescription to a different generic of the drug and that particular one (can’t remember name right now) gave me hives. Even though the active ingredient is the same sometimes they used different binders in different drugs and people will react to that. So I just had them change me back to the form I previously took and I was fine.
All side effects to all drugs sound so scary-but you have to weigh the possibilities against the benefits.
All the DMards are used for things like RA so does he think you have RA?
When I used to take prednisone the doctor had me take Tums everyday for the calcium.
Don’t know if any of this is helpful.
I’m glad you are getting some relief from the constant pain. I hope you can find something to continue to make you feel well. I know you have been enjoying your cooking and baking of late.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone has a wonderful & safe 4th of July. Our weather has been wild earlier in the week. On Monday we had an unusual day. It started out sunny & nice. But later in the day a thunderstorm popped up out of nowhere. A tornado touched down in a neighborhood my friends live in. It did a lot of damage knocking down big trees into cars & homes. No injuries were reported.
But that’s just the beginning of my day. I went with Hallie & Dan & the kids over to the coast to their fave seafood restaurant. It was cloudy & windy over there, but it felt good. We had our lunch, then we were off to run an errand she had to take care of. I was left with the boys & the dog. Well, the dog needed to be taken out so I got out & watched the boys as they took care of the dog. (A real small dog, chihuahua). Pretty soon the dog got away from them & he ran right to where Hallie was just coming out of the bldg. So then we started for home. She had a Dr. at 4:15 & we were gonna cut it short. Well, instead of getting on one of the main roads back to Portland she got on her phone GPS & we ended up going God knows where as a short cut getting there. We were waaaaaaaaaaay off the beaten path. I swear we went at least 30 miles of the main road, if not more!!! Honestly I think we went around in circles at the start. I saw parts of Oregon I didn’t know existed, mostly farms that were way out there. Well, we finally made it to where she had her appt. & again I was left with the boys & the dog. By this time I was exhausted just from the ride. I was in the back seat with the boys & I’ll never do that again. The back seat isn’t big enough for 3 people. So, as we’re sitting there here comes the storm. And I mean it was Right over head!! They counted 19 lightning strikes as we sat there. Then came the heavy downpours, & the hail. It was 4:30 going on 5 & it looked like it was a lot later than that. It was almost 5:15 before they got out of her appt. We watched as everyone was leaving the bldg.
As we were waiting for them, I was getting alerts on my phone about a huge tree that was toppled over onto some cars & a home. No injuries were reported.. Turns out it was in the same neighborhood my friends live in. Just up the street from where they live. It’s where that tornado touched down. It wasn’t confirmed till later that night.
I didn’t get home till 6 & where I live it was dry as a bone. the streets weren’t even wet from any rain. It was a freaky storm for sure. It’s still making the news. The power wasn’t restored till Tues. morning.
Well, I think that’s enough excitement for awhile.
HAVE A WONDERFUL 4TH OF JULY!!!
dd -
Hi Ladies,
I trust everyone had a great 4th of July. The fireworks haven’t happened here yet. When I stand at the windows I can see em from all over the area. I’m not sure how Snowball is going to react to all the noise. She’s been a little pill the past couple of days. Yesterday I got up to find what was left of my loaf of bread in shreds!! Crumbs were all over the counter & the plastic was ripped in several places. She gets up on the counter when she thinks I’m not looking or knows I’m not. She’s gonna be a little handful till I get her trained or she gets me trained!! ( that’s more like it) LOL
I spent the day here with her. I did get out to the store for a nice walk. It was a gorgeous day here. Clear with a few passing clouds around. And it sounds like we’re gonna have more of the same for a while. No major heatwaves as far as I know. Upper 70s/low 80s into next week. That’s fine with me.
OK Adele, what’s with the pumpkin hats already?? Did any of you catch the QF clearance show today? Angel was on with Jennifer. I guess everyone’s clearing out there summer stuff to make room for the fall stuff coming out. It just seems like they rush all the seasons. Maybe it’s just me.
Oh did anyone watch ITKWD on Wed. Jane Treacy was the host, so I tuned out. I saw on Instagram or FB where something happened with Shawn. Of course I missed it!! I don’t know if it’s just me but some of the hosts get on my nerves anymore. Do any of you feel the same as I do? I’m not too crazy about Antonella being a blonde now. Again, maybe it’s me. My old age showing. LOL
Well that’s about it for tonight.
dd -
Hey Gailster!
I don’t have the RA. I have the osteo arthritis. That is what I was wondering too. Maybe they both work for both issues. I will find out next week, when I see the arthritis doctor. I am hoping either she will agree with me, and do the small dosage prednsone, or try something in tat new category. Either way, I have been enjoying my life back, and do not want to give it up. Today is my last day on only 1 prednisone.
It was so busy yesterday. Marissa, Enzo, and Luna came in the am, then Heather and Michelle arrived, and shortly after Al and Joanne. I forgot to take a pic of all the food. I do have a pic of the salad, and squares, that I already added here. Oh well!
I have enough un-cooked wings to make tonight for the 3 of us, so that is good too. A few squares are left, and some mac salad, so tonight will be easy. All I do is bake the wings, and make a salad. Fine with me!
How did your day go?
It is gross here- the temp is the same as the humidity. Yuck.
I love that new solar lamppost from the Q. You should get one.
I bet you are thrilled today- it is gem day. I wore the Kirks Folly Flag pin yesterday too. LOL
Hope all is good in your area. Prayers to California, so they do not get a bigger quake. That was not nice to have on the fourth. Scary.
Adele -
Wow DD!!
That must have been scary to be stuck in a car with 2 boys and a dog in a big storm. Thank God the tornado did not come your way. these storms are getting wilder and do more damage every time they hit.
We will get storms tomorrow, as far as I know. The temp is the same as the humidity out there- totally gross. Thank goodness I have food left over form yesterday, and do not need anyone to grill out there- that would be cruel.
Read the post to the Gailster for more info….LOL I have one more email Q post to read, to see what everyone has been up to.
Did you feel the earthquake in your area yesterday? As soon as I heard about it I thought of you.
How is the freshy little kitty doing today?????? I know you told me she ate the bread on the counter last night. Hope that was all.
I hope your day goes well, and it is not too hot over there.
Adele -
Hey DD
OMG, I have not see Antonella as a blond yet. I think everyone has been saying the same thing. the new hosts are aggravating, like the ones on HSN- don’t watch those at all. What we liked about the Q hosts is that they were personable, told stories about their families, enjoyed the products they were talking about, and were not all about….I wear a size xtra, xtra, extra small. Seriously?
I feel the same way. Everyone rushes the seasons.
So, here is the skinny on the hats. I ordered the patriotic ones, and then the pumpkin ones popped up n my order history. I loved them, so I had to get them for me and the boys. Turkey ones popped up too…..LOL Have not ordered those yet.
Love the new kitty pics, and the patriotic ones. i am all about the red, white and blue this summer.
I caught a little piece of ITKWD, and did not see anything new. I love when they have new, cool gadgets. Hope they come up with something new for Fall.
Hope your day is good. It is hot and humid here- completely gross.
Adele -
Hi DD,
You had quite a day with your friend and her kids. I’ll bet you were relieved to get home in one piece.
It’s been awhile since we had cats so I have forgotten that they can get just about anywhere. Even the larger dogs can counter surf. Somehow we got lucky and none of ours stole food off the counters or tables. Or maybe we had them well trained.
I see Jenny’s new dog does a lot of begging-probably because the kids are always sneaking him stuff. lol
The new kitty looks pretty comfy in her new digs.
I know-they do rush the seasons but that’s just the world of retail.
I keep hearing that Antonella says she colored the hair to cover the gray. I don’t mind-I like her whatever color her hair is. She and Carolyn seem to be the most relatable to me.
I love the look of that round Americana quilt. It’s very pretty. I remember watching a TV show one time and these women in Appalachia sewed the most beautiful quilts. I imagine you can find the same thing in Amish country.

Hi Adele,
I didn’t think the RA drugs did anything for people with osteo as they work on a whole different principal but who knows. I hope you and the arthritis doctor can figure out some program to help you out and help you get your life back. I can see how much more you are enjoying yourself being able to get back to the cooking.
So here’s what i was wondering-you have a German/Italian background-which one influences your cooking more-my guess is the Italian but I was wondering what you think.
We have had a solar lamppost for years and years-it came form the Q years ago and has lasted a long time. I really like it and would replace it if something happened to it.
Kirk’s folly does do great Americana, Halloween and Christmas items. Love their sparkles!
I guess California had another quake and are expecting more or at least more aftershocks. That would be very unsettling.
I didn’t watch Trump’s military display. We watched Yankee Doodle Dandy and then I caught a program from Nashville that was doing fireworks. Jenny and the kids didn’t even go to any fireworks. They did go to a 4th of July parade though. We used to go to that parade years ago when I worked with people who lived along the route who always had a party during the parade. We did a lot more partying when we were younger. lol
The kids were all out last night catching lightening bugs. It’s so refreshing seeing them do some of the same things that we did as kids. Even though people worry about kids and too much screen time I don’t see it that much in Jenny’s kids and their friends. I actually see it a lot more in Lachlan than the girls which is pretty much how it was when our kids were young. Brent and his friends played Nintendo but Jenny and her friends didn’t very often. Probably because they couldn’t get the game away from the boys. lol Anyway, I still see kids going out to play-at least in rural areas. More in summer than winter of course.
We had a quiet 4th with just the two of us. We grilled hot dogs soaked in beer and had corn on the cob and cantaloupe just a nice easy day.

Gail the Amish have beautiful quilts but they are expensive. Of course with all the work that goes into them I guess they are not so bad. I always loved to go to Belleville Mennonite School when they had their quilt sale. Quilts are donated & sold to raise money for the school. You would love walking around there. I use to buy pies there too. They would make up the pies & you just had to take home & bake them & they were yummy.
You said the kids were catching lightening bugs. To bad they could not come catch the one in my bedroom. They make a lot of light when it is dark. It was annoying. If I could move like I did when I was a kid I would have caught it & put it outside but did not want to try running around in the dark & when I turned on the light it hid.
We are having very hot humid days. Well over 100 when you add in the humidity. I was out getting some groceries & I was so hot till I brought them in & put away so now I am trying to cool down a bit. Then I want to make iced tea & cut up my watermelon. Thunderstorms are coming later.
You hear all the complaints about QVC these days so I will tell you a good thing. I had bought the Quacker biker tee & when Angel was on it was reduced to 34.99 so I called & they are crediting my card with 7.52. I did not know they did that but someone on the QVC boards said they did if the purchase was within 30 days so I tried & was successful. -
Hi Ladies,
IT’s another quiet lazy day out here. It’s overcast & looks like it might sprinkle. No major storms on the horizon. Snowball is resting beside me on a pile of papers & junk. I have a show on that has a cat in it & when it meows she looks around to see where it is. she’s my guard cat. lol.No Adele, we didn’t feel the earthquake up here. It’s at least 1,000 miles from me. I heard they had another quake yesterday that was stronger than the first one, 7.1. My friends are heading down there in Aug. so I hope the shaking is done by then. Last yr it was the fires, now it’s quakes.
Oh Adele, I had a dream I was trying to convince you to move out here. The weather is so different, Portland is a smaller community compared to Boston area. There’s a lot of rural area compared to there. A lot of farm area, as I found out the other day!! Best part is NO HUMIDITY!!! Not like you have. When we have high humidity it’s rainy & cooler. Right now it’s in the upper 60s. Feels good.
I like Carolyn Gracie, Jenn, Antonella, altho she does tend to get too loud. Have you seen the commercial with Rick & Antonella? It has to do with Black Friday at the end of this month.
Well, that’s all I have for today.
Take care.

Hi Everybody,
Well I am back again. We had a surprise this week-end. Melissa and Stephen came home for the week. They got here on Tuesday or Wednesday can’t remember which day. They did not pick up the kids from their other grandma until Friday so Melissa and I spent some time together. We got in the pool and floated and just talked. Stephen got in also and was going to help me get on a float and dunked me in the pool. I went completely under. It was funny because he was just as shocked as I was when I went under. We teased him about that all week. We set off fire works on the 4th and 5th. On the 4th it was just the adults and on the 5th the kids were here. Danyielle’s kids were here also so we had a good time. Aliza loved the fire works. She would applaud and tell the guys that they were doing a good job. It was funny. Everyone had to go home today so now it is lonesome again. It is also back to cleaning mom’s house.
Gail, I am glad to hear that Brent is doing better and that the treatment helped. It will be nice when they get the rest worked out. Our garden is not doing as well as we would like. They say that we have had too much rain. We are hoping that it will get better as the time goes by. This rain cannot keep up all summer.
Adele, I love your hats. You always have such a good time no matter what you are doing. I am glad that the prednisone did you some good. The new doctor sounds like he agrees with you. You have been busy with the crowns on your teeth and going to doctors. Seems like that is all we do anymore is go to the doctor. I hope you had a good time with your friends there the other day. The pictures that you posted of the food you made looks really good. I have not cooked all week. The guys grilled the meat and Melissa went to the store and bought all the sides. We had a really good week.
DD, I love your new cat he is really cute. I imagine that you and he are getting along really well. I am glad that you have a new fur baby. I did not realize that you had tornadoes there where you live. I hope your friends are okay and the storms did not do much damage.
Barbara, We did have a great time with the kids. I miss them all now that they are gone. It will be lonesome in the pool without them. I know what you mean about resting. After they are all gone you just fall back in the chair and relax. I took a break before I started picking up after everybody. Melissa did most of the cleaning before she left. She has changed since she moved away. I guess she has grown up.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night

Hey Gailster
So, why soak the dogs in beer? I have never heard of that. What does it do to the dogs??? Are they drunk, when you eat them? Are the hot dogs old enough to drink???? LOL LOL LOL Should the police have been notified??
That’s a tough call on food influences. I have favorites in both that I cook a lot. Italian would probably be the winner. A lot of the dishes are easier….LOL German can be complicated, with the gravies, etc. Real sauerkraut is a day’s process, and you have never tasted anything like it, made at home.
It is Steph’s birthday today. They came yesterday instead, and I gave her the Kirks Folly pin- the one with the moon, stars, etc in purple. She loved it.
So, this is what my idiot family did yesterday……
They wanted me to make the Pesto with Linguini for Steph’s birthday, and come to use the pool. Ok, I say.
All was good, bit the clouds were building. I kept saying someone needs to get the basil in from the deck. NO, not possible. They kept having fun and telling me not to worry. I kept obsessing about the storm. They kept telling me I was doing my obsessive compulsive thing. (No way I was going out there, as it was 94 and humidity 80%)
Storm lands, with a vengeance, Torrential rain, tons of thunder and lightning. So, I say….No pesto, nobody is going out there with a scissor in their hands. And….I would never ask a take out driver to deliver in this mess. Rain and humidity so high, all the windows were fogged up…only in New England.
So whacky Steph and Heather go out on the deck to get the pesto anyway. I had no idea what was taking so long, as I told them just cut it at the root, and get your asses back in here. They decide to just pick the leaves they wanted that looked good- in the pouring rain. Well that did not generate 4 cups of basil leaves, and out they had to go again. I am yelling… if you idiots get hit by lightning, I am not picking up your bodies from the morgue.
They were giving me a coronary out there on the deck. I wanted to smack the two of them.
I would never want to live in California. I would freak thinking the big one was coming. I hope they do not get any more in the next few days. Those poor people must be scared to death.
I did not watch the disaster in Washington either. Everything has to be about him. Everything. It is getting old.
the weather is better today- about 80, and by end of day, the humidity is supposed to be gone. Hope your day is goign well!
Adele -
Hi Sue
Glad to hear from you!
You have had the heat like we do up here. All my windows were fogged up. Totally gross. We got hours of thunderstorm last evening. No damage, thank God. How was your area?
I heard there was a small tornado in New Jersey. These storms are awful lately. the good news is, we did not get any rain in at all. Hopefully, that will remain so.
I heard a bit back form a show on up here (Chronicle) that you have this wonderful market area, where you can get just about anything. Of course, I forgot the name of it. It reminded me of the marketplace in Stuttgart Germany- a huge building , like a train station, with all kinds of shops and vendors in there. The smell was unbelievable, form the smoked meats, etc. That is what it reminded me of. Funny, how you never forget smells.
That was fabulous that the Q gave you the price adjustment. It is so aggravating when they lower the price of an item you just bought.
Speaking of that…..Aizen loved the little police scooter. He rode it all around the house, due to the rain outside. He was pretty happy. I am glad I got it, and can’t believe it was motorized. I thought it was just a ride on one. It was on clearance on the CIJ show weekend.
I hope you are nice and cool and caught the lightning bug. I know bugs do not have a long life span, so maybe it died by now???
Hope all is good down there!
Adele -
Hi Sue,
I wrote you this morning and then I pressed a wrong button on my computer it it all left me. lol some days I am such a klutz.
Anyway, I was talking about the quilts. I would love to see the Amish quilts made in your area. I am sure they are pricey but worth the money considering all the time that is spent making them. I wonder if the Amish can use one of those sewing machines that you work with a foot pedal? And then I was wondering why they sold them at the Mennonite school. I really don’t know much about the Amish or the Mennonites. I should read something about them and educate myself-I always like to learn something new-even at this stage of my life as I am a nerd. lol We have Amish communities but they are mostly in central Illinois.
Then the pies reminded me of some of the best pies I ever ate. They used to have a folk festival at this little church in a town called Blaine. It was a fund raiser for the church and there was music all day long and ladies baked pies to sell whole and you could also get slices. Some of those farming ladies were the best cooks ever and their pies were delicious.
Do you remember when the Q sold more quilts and some limited edition ones. I have one on my bed right now that I love. it has a barn and farm animals on it. It is one of my favorites as it reminds me of the country around where we live. Of course it is machine made not hand stitched but it is lovely.
If you ever run across Lily’s Mom on the Q boards she makes a quilt every winter and posts pictures. she is so talented as she also has the most beautiful garden vignettes and she posts picture of them during the summer. I read about garden man’s set up for watering and even showed it to Greg as I thought he would find it interesting.
I also read about calling the Q when a price on something is reduced. I’m glad that you got the refund as that was a substantial amount. I always seem to notice a price change when it is too late. I know people on the Q boards do a lot of complaining and I wonder sometimes why the keep watching if they don’t like it. Some on the boards will even say they haven’t bought anything for years and don’t even appreciate that the Q is still nice enough to let them participate on their boards. yes, it’s changed a lot in the 30 years that I have been watching-I too wish that they had more of the unusual items that you could find in the early years-maybe this new search for entrepreneurs will bring in some new fun objects. Greg says they are packaging something for the Q-some mold thing for your furnace filter. However, I have bought lots of very nice things from the Q over the last years and I have no complaints. If I don’t like something i send it back. The shipping was atrocious for awhile but they seemed to have that worked out. One package I ordered in April and got it in June and then it was the wrong item. lol It must have been traveling around with Adele’s gnome. lol
Gail -
Hi DD,
Have you decided on a name for your new girl yet?
I laughed when you said you were dreaming about trying to convince to Adele to move by you. I’ll bet she would only come if she could convince the whole family to move too. lol
I’m trying to figure out what that cluster of butterflies is all about. Very interesting.
I like the picture of the dog resting his head on the man’s knee. it’s so true as they actually do that.
Gail -
Hey DD!
Gail is going to love the butterfly pic. I love the lady bug one. Heather loves lady bugs.
I find ti odd that you are on the coast, and get no humidity. that is so weird. I wonder why. Honestly, I thought everyone on the coast, no matter where, got humidity. I hate it with a passion. you have no idea. Although it is a c lot cooler today the humidity was still up, so my nose did not go out on the deck at all.
Im attaching a pic of the Pesto and Lemon Squares, with the ricotta cake Heather’s friend brought….notice the bite marks….LOL
That’s funny that you dreamed about me…..must have been a nightmare….
How is Kitty settling in? You really pick pretty kitties. Love her faces she makes when you take her pic.
Hope you have a good night!!
Adele
PS…glad you did not feel the quakes. -
Hi Colleen,
How wonderful that you had a visit from Melissa and Stephen. I know you miss them since they moved to Tennessee. It’s nice to have some alone time with the kids alone much as we love our grands. You can talk about anything and everything when the little ones aren’t around.
Now we know what Stephen really thinks of his MIL. lol I can see why he got teased for that.
You know I think the kids do finally grow up and appreciate us and want to help-and sad as it might be they realize that we won’t be around for ever either and they learn to value us.
I like Aliza telling the guys that they were doing a good job. that’s the nice thing about the country is you can have your own display and not bother anybody.
Gail -
Hey Colleen!
OMG, that was such a surprise for you. I bet you were all thrilled to have them with you. What a fabulous holiday you all had. Soooo, did Ron finally get into the pool? I wonder if he ever will try it. I hope he does, as he would have a good time.
Aliza is so adorable. I bet she loves the water too. Over here, Aizen is a bit timid with the water. All the other kids swim life fishes. he gets very anxious in the water. We have one of those “bathing suit rings” . the ring is like a tire, and sewed as part of the suit, so it cannot come off. Looks like a womens one piece bathing suit, with the ring in the waist area. They are very safe, as the kids cannot slip out of them. We have been egttying those since Steph was a baby. Much safer than the arm things, etc.
We ordered Chinese tonight. I am all cooked out, so to speak.
I forgot to mention to Gail that a good amount of the pain is back. I have been off the med for a few days, and it is slowly coming back. It really got me mad. It was so nice to be pain free for 12 days. Some days I just feel it is not fair. then, I htink other peoole have way more to deal with than this, so just suck it up….LOL
Hope your night goes well!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
It’s nicer here today. Less humidity. I remember Debbie who lives in Medford Oregon also used to say that they had not much humidity. She called it a Mediterranean climate. Maybe the air blows out into the ocean rather than coming in from the ocean. There is more rain in Portland than we get here though as my sister lived in Portland once.
So I saw Carson Daly and his wife make the hot dogs like that on the Today show and thought I’d try it. You cut slits in the dogs and soak them for a half hour-it gives them a different taste. surely you’ve had brats cooked in beer before? This is just a variation.
Greg used to have a friend that made sauerkraut that marinated in a crock for months. I don’t like sauerkraut so you could make it a dozen ways and I wouldn’t eat it. I think it smells like stinky feet. lol Plus it is gaseous. I remember Greg would eat it at his mother’s house on a holiday and during the two hour ride home he would have to open the window every fifteen minutes to air out the car and the kids would scream because he was letting the cold air into the back seat. lol Poor kids-they got a double bad thing from the sauerkraut. lol
Tell Steph Happy Birthday.
I think your girls were just doing that to yesterday to get your goat because they know you are a worrier. They probably thought it was funny. You should have locked them out. lol
Greg is outside building up the pavement block step off the deck that a groundhog has now caused to collapse twice. If it does it again i can picture him out there with dynamite like Bill Murray in Caddy Shack. lol It is dangerous though because if someone had stepped on that spot and it collapsed you could break your ankle. so I hope Mr. Ground hog has gone somewhere else to wreak havoc.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
Well, the long holiday weekend is over now. Everybody’s headed home now. Sounds like everyone had a good visit with your families. Colleen, what a wonderful surprise having your kids show up. that’s always a great surprise. I named my new furball Snowball, altho I call her Snickerdoodle, or Snickers. Whatever comes to mind. lol She gets up here on the sofa with me. I have a pile of papers & she curls up & goes to sleep. It’s a funny thing, when I go lay down for a nap, she’s discovered where I have the carrier, & she naps in there too. I took it apart & set it out of the way & she found it. I think it’s hilarious but just wait till she finds out what it’s really for!!
Our weather has been cooler than normal. IT’s been at least 10 degrees below where we should be for this time of yr. We’ve been in the 60s & down right chilly. They’re saying we’re in for some measurable rain mid week. By next weekend we start warming up.
The Pacific ocean is colder than the Atlantic. The normal temp of it here is in the 50s, it never gets above the 60s. When we have humidity it’s cold temps & rain, not hot temps. You’d be wearing a sweater. The storms come out of the Gulf of Alaska when we get one. Occasionally we’ll get a pineapple express out of the south Pacific, but they’re few & far between. The only time the wind blows towards the ocean is when the wind is blowing from the East. In the summer it gets hot hot & hot when it does. In winter it’s bitter cold with snow & or ice.
I think I remember my folks making sauerkraut when I was little. I remember a crock of something sitting in a corner in the shed. I can’t stand the smell of it myself.
Gail, I remember when they sold quilts on the Q, I still have a couple of them. I had to get rid of a couple cuz they were oversized for a double bed. They were beautiful & heavy so they kept me warm!!
Well I guess I better go for tonight.
Have a great week ahead.
dd -
Looks like the middle pic is upside down again!!
-
DD,
Thanks for explaining the weather patterns in your area. Yes, I had forgotten that the Pacific is colder than the Atlantic.
I think it’s funny that we name our animals but still have pet names for them just like we do with our kids.
You know it’s not unusual for dogs to voluntarily go into their crates to nap so your cat may feel the same way about her carrier. In fact if she likes to go in there i would keep it available as then she may be more relaxed when she is in there on trips to the vet.
Our dogs crates were set up in the dining room and sometimes they would go in their crates to rest on their own. It’s sort of den like so they feel safe in there. Jenny’s dog often slept in his crate at night when he was here.
Sometimes I would buy quilts in the King size for the extra overhand even though all our beds at the time were queen sized. Now I’m glad I did because Greg and I now have a king sized bed so I can still use a few quilts on our bed and the rest i use on the other beds in the house.
Gail -
Hey Gailster!
Well, on this side of the country, Mr Gary is in his recliner, relaxing…..LOL The employees are out doing their routes. Not bad out there today. It will be in the 80’s, with less humidity.
Good idea- I should have locked their nasty butt’s out there. You know me, I was sweating, thinking any moment the lightning will hit their dumb asses. I swear, they are all making me nuts.
So, I get a call from Preggo, asking to use the house for the “Gender Reveal” party. Of course! Not problem at all. her old time best friend ever, is running it. Back in the day, every Wednesday used to be called “Allie M. day.” Allie spent every Wednesday in this house, or Heather’s. We were her mom’s daycare for Wednesday after school….LOL We love Little Allie. She is a tiny, cute little thing.
So, Marissa now wants to change the God parents. I say….have 2 of each so as not to offend anyone. So, I call the Church. Ask if we can do Godparents. No. Only one of each can go into the register. If the others were not Catholic, you can add a “witness”. All Catholic, so we are screwed. So, Marissa is going to have Enzo talk to his older sister and brother, to see if they really want to do this. Marissa is feeling they have not been very interested in the pregnancy, since they were told. Allie calls her at least once a week, and Enzo’s sibs have not been calling at all since the news.
I told Marissa there could be a million reasons why they have not heard form them, so do not assume. I asked her if they feel the two of them should marry first- she said no. How about you finishing school- she does not think that is it either. Tod her again not to assume. just handle it, with a lot of delicacy, as you do not want family arguments to start- just not worth it.
Well, Tillie’s sauerkraut takes about 2 hours to cook. She used to large cans of sauerkraut, and adds: smoked slab of bacon, smoked Daisy ham ( only from the German store, as it’s a better piece of meat- actually all meats from the German store), 1/2 pound of thick cut bacon, cut into pieces, an onion, well chopped, and spices. After it is almost done cooking, she grates a potato into the mix, and cooks for another half hour. It is really yummy. She serves it with spaetzle.
I have never had a brat cooked in beer. I will have to ask Tillie about this phenomenon…..I have been missing a lot….LOL
OMG- I hope Greg and the groundhog come to an agreement. I htink my cute tiny bunnies have been eating my garden. I keep getting stuff, and have Heather plant it, and then, it looks bare again. Seriously??? The 3rd Alluvium onion plat arrived today. this makes the 3rd or 4th one planted, to no avail. I still have 2 more coming…..LOL
I am continually amazed at the differences in cooking, food choices, and weather all across this great land of ours. Wow, is all I can say.
Hope Greg is done by now.
Adele -
Hey DD!
Love the kitty pics, as always. Tillie loves lighthouses. She always has. A few Christmas’ ago, i made her a needlepoint lighthouse. She loved it,
So, is kitty’s name Snowball? As you mentioned that one first, I figured that may be the one.
That is so cute that she likes to sleep in the cat carrier. I also wonder if it will remain so, after the first trip to the vet. Has she slept with you yet at night?
I am so happy you got another kitty. She is a healing kitty- an Angel kitty for you.
What is your ethnic background? Do you have some German in you too?
That makes perfect sense on your weather. If your storms come from Alaska, it would be way different than up here. Ours come up the coast, or across from the Midwest. The “Noreasters” come form the southern coast. As do the hurricanes. Are hurricanes normal for your area too, or with the water so cold, maybe not??
I hope you are having a good day. how has Critt been lately??
Have a good one.
Adele -
Glad everyone had a good holiday weekend. I know you were so happy to see your family Colleen, and now you will always have something to tease your SIL about with the dunking in the pool thing. We ended up having Joey and Lisa come up for a few hours; Lisa said she meant the cookout was on Sat. instead; so we watched Ruby for them Saturday. We just made dogs and Jerry has a spicy slaw that has been in his family since he was a child that he always makes along with regular cole slaw. I did deviled eggs, baked beans and banana pudding. We had a good time together. Neal was sick with a stomach virus that he had gotten he said from the baby. When we talked with him with told him we would be happy to come help; but we understood from Lisa that Sarahs family was visiting them; and he said yes, but they left that morning (the 3rd) I really got upset since I know we would not have left Sarah sick like that but I kept my mouth shut and he said he just needed to rest sip fluids, so we stayed in touch until he was better. He said he did not want us to be on the highway in all that traffic. Said he wouldn’t be able to rest at all worrying about us. Sarahs Dad is retired and her mother works PT as a school crossing guard. So other than just getting back; I don’t know why they left him sick with the baby to care for and Sarah at work. Oh, well, I will stop now. All that matters is they are doing better.
I just love your Pumpkin hats Adele. I am sorry you are starting to hurt again. Gail gave you some great info on the medicines. Just write down your questions before you see your doctor and tell him your concerns, both short and long termed. Another great source of information is your pharmacist, if you know them and have used the same one for a while. They are as smart if not smarter about drugs, and a wealth of information. What you said about the pain is so on point with our lives. I know it is hard to believe to most; but everything, literally, in my and Jerrys life is built around his pain. And as awful as I know this sounds, sometimes I just get so discouraged because I know this is how it will be from now on. We were in the grocery store the other day, and he had a “spell”. He said Barbara, I feel queasy and hot; so we left our basket in the isle, and went out to the car, turned on the air cond. and I gave him an orange soda from the machine to drink. Jerry has a habit of not eating breakfast, and it was about 2 pm and he had not even had any lunch that day. He is trying to lose some weight, and is going about it the wrong way in my opinion. I think his blood sugar dropped, because he started to feel better. I went back in and found our cart and checked out. Really concerned me so I am keeping a watch.
Love your new kitty. DD. She is so pretty. She looks like a snowball. I guess she just needed to make a sandwich. Auto Kitty likes sweets. I have to keep anything sweet under a tuperware container. He can be mischevious too.
Adele, you couldn’t stand it here with our humidlty. I went out on the patio this morning to check my hummingbird feeded; and my glasses fogged up it was so humid. We mainly stay inside and I miss the outdoors so much.
Better close for now. Take care everyone. Barbara -
Hi Gail,
Melissa did so many nice things for me. They went to the store and brought me a bouquet of flowers. It was all different color of daisy’s. They keep a lot longer then the roses do. There were some purple in there and they were really pretty. I had never seen any that color before. It was just a surprise when she brought them in the house. Ethan and Kaylee has grown up so much. Ethan wants to be an adult but is too young he is the ripe old age of 13. lol He is really funny.
Stephen is in a lot of trouble with me. I told him the next time he gets in the pool we are going to drown him. lol I think that he was just as surprised as I was when I fell into the pool.
I do not think that I could eat hot dogs soaked in beer. The smell would kill you don’t talk about the taste. I cannot stand the taste of beer. So that would ruin the taste.
Well that is about all from here. I still have a lot of reading to do on here. I hope that I get caught up soon.
Have a great night
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Your pasta looks really good. I agree with Gail I would have locked those kids outside and would laugh. They can be so stubborn no matter what their age. You always make such good meals for the kids they all appreciate it too.
I got the weirdest e-mail from qvc. They sent me an e-mail saying that my wait list order would not go thru on my card. So I called them and while I was waiting to talk to them they sent another e-mail saying that it had been shipped. It was really weird.
Aliza does not like to get out of the pool. She has a fit when we try to get her out. She is like a fish in water when she is in the pool. Owen is about the same. I told him today that he can swim here any time that he wants. He thanked me for that. I had to laugh as if I would tell that he could not get in there if he wanted to. Ron will not get in the pool he will not let me win this argument. That is fine though he is the one missing out on all the fun.
We went and got ice cream cones today at the candy store. I bought Aliza and Own a bag of candy. They have some little barrels with all different types of candy. So they got to pick their own. Aliza picked all types of suckers. It was funny. It is all the old time candy. So it is fun to see the kids pick out the candy they want.
I am still trying to catch up on what is going on with everyone. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
That is such a cute name for your cat baby. You really do pick the prettiest cats. They seem to be such good cats. I wish that my daughter could pick them like you do.
That is funny that the cat is napping in the carrier. It may be a good thing. If you have to take her to the vet she will be used to it. I do not think that they make a carrier big enough for our dogs. If they did we could never carry it.
I am glad that your weather is a little cooler. We have been swimming every day here it has been so hot. It was so much fun to have the kids here with us. I really appreciated the time that I had alone with my daughter. It has been a long time.
The pictures of Jewel are really cute. I am glad that you still post them. It will be fun to see all the pictures that you post of Snowball also. I hope that you have a great night.

Hey Barbara!
I am like Jerry. I get those “spells” when I am trying to do something, and the pain starts. When ti gets to the level of my tolerance, I start to sweat and get dizzy. Unfortunately, that does not take long at all. That is mostly from my back pain. The shoulder pain comes and goes, and when it gets to the intolerable level, I feel nauseous from the pain. It goes form the left side of my neck, behind the ear, to the elbow, on some days. Now, if I move the head to the left, I feel nauseous. Seriously??? It does suck. Gary gets discouraged, as he feels we are trapped in the house all the time. So, when he complained last week, I reminded him of his 9 surgeries, one near death experience with food poisoning, heart attack, broken neck- that one tied us up for 3 months. Oh yes, that conversation did not go well, as I was still on the prednisone…..LOL LOL
On the other hand, I was the person stuck home all the time with the recovering ill one. I remember sitting in the parking lot of McDonalds, one July 4th night, after visiting Gary in the hospital, and crying my eyes out….while eating a McFlurry. Coming home to an empty home was awful.
I feel so bad for you being away from your son and Colin when they were sick. You are like me, and must have worried yourself to death until they were ok again. I also know that you would NEVER have gone home, job or not, until they were all well again.
Your dinner on the 4th sounded quite good. You know, I have been wanting to make a good pudding for a while now. Great minds think alike!
Thank yo for your compliments- I do so love pumpkins, in all their forms….LOL
You are so right- I would die down there. It is hot up here agian, and the humidity will be through the roof the next few days. YUCK!!!
hope your day is good, and Jerry feels ok. The humidity makes me hurt more. I hope it does not bother him
Your crazy North Buddy!!
Adele -
Hey Colleen!
That is funny about Ron. He would ha such a good time if he gave in.
That is so nice that the kids are having so much fin with the pool. Melissa brought you some nice gifts- she is a sweetie.
We used to go to a candy store like that in NH. They had all the old candy, and the kids loved to visit there. You cold fill up your bag, and they weighed it, and that is the price you paid. Not sure if it is still like that.
It is hot and humid here again. Gross. No dinner here- sandwiches. Just too hot to heat the house up, even with the air on.
I hope Melissa and the kids stay a while, so you can have more fun.
Have a good day!

Hi Everyone,
Greg had a stress test this morning and the doctor called and said it was abnormal and has him scheduled with a cardiologist first thing tomorrow. Prayers please.

Gail I know you will be with Greg tomorrow but wanted to let you know. Gardenman’s latest short story will be available on Amazon the 10th to the 14th for free. It is called The Living Library & sounds like something you would like. It is about book characters come to life & find a human among them. He says it takes about an hour to read.
-
Hi Everyone,
Greg had the meeting with the cardiologist this morning. He is being scheduled for an angiogram tomorrow. The stress test doesn’t really tell much other than there is a problem somewhere. The angiogram should give more details. She changed some of his meds and added others. I guess if he needs a stent they do it right there during the angiogram. He can’t drive for five days afterwards. Thanks for all the prayers. It means so much to us.

I will continue saying prayers for Greg & you. I think stents are a normal procedure anymore seems like a lot of people have them. So if he needs one it should be a routine procedure. Maybe this is the Universe telling him to slow down a bit.
-
Sue, Thank you for the continued prayers.
Yes, I see that a lot of people have stents-it’s not uncommon in our age group.
Now I am feeling stupid as I got the dates mixed up.
I thought the angiogram was tomorrow and it’s next Thursday. I am a dummy! He’s also having some kind of test on Tuesday-some kind of ultrasound with dye.
Gail -
Sue, thanks for the heads up on the book. It’s funny but he just put it online a couple of weeks ago and I ran across it and downloaded it then. He told me i got it about two days after he put it up. You are exactly right-it is just the type of thing that appeals to me.
Gail -
Barbara,
I’m glad Neal is feeling better. I remember having to take care of the kids when i was sick as we had no family around and it was no picnic. But I guess we all muddled through somehow. I do wonder why Sarah’s parents couldn’t have waited a bit longer to leave though. I guess no one family does things the same way or thinks about things the same way. It can be frustrating when something seems so obvious to us but the other family just doesn’t “get” it.
I think you have sent us your weather now. Very hot and steamy now. I guess it is payback for the relatively cool June.
those deviled eggs that you made sound so good. I used to make them a lot but haven’t made them in a long time.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Yes, Ethan is at that in between age. Too old for little kids stuff–too young for some teenage stuff. I’m so glad that you got to see everybody though. The flowers that Melissa brought sound so pretty. Purple daisies sound fun! Did you ever notice they have made flowers last so much longer now but they have taken most of the smell out of them. Roses and carnations barely have any smell anymore and they used to have a powerful smell. It’s funny but you don’t even taste the beer on the hot dogs-it just makes them moister and more flavorful.
Ron doesn’t know it but he is the loser in this deal. Him having to win the argument is making him miss all the fun everyone is having.
Thank you for the prayers.
Gail -
Adele,
Is your new lamppost the one with three lights? We have one from many years ago with only one light. I wrap the pole in different colored light strands for the different seasons.
Yes, Marissa should tread lightly with the godparents situation. Maybe it would be wise to just stick with the people she initially asked and leave it at that. She sure had that planned out way ahead of time. i don’t think we picked godparents until it was actually time to baptize the baby. I guess she was so excited that she did everything way ahead of time.
I don’t know where the cooking brats in beer came from exactly. It used to be very popular-now I don’t see it as much.
If you read the other posts you know what is going on here. It’s pretty stressful.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
Is this July or late March or April?? Right now it doesn’t look much like July out here. We’ve had rain for the past couple days!! No big down pours but just enough to stir up the dust on the windows. The temps are lower than normal too. Barely in the 70s. This has to be the cloudiest July we’ve had in yrs.
I guess I shouldn’t complain tho, it was in the 90s last yr. I guess the European computer model may have been right, saying we were in for a cooler damp summer. Alaska is having a devistating hot summer.
I think the brats cooked in beer comes from Germany. Not absolutely sure but it sounds like it. Brats do come from there, & beer no brainer. I know a German family so I’ll find out from them. I took care of their mother for a few yrs back in the 90s. she had 10 kids, so I had to remember their names & the spouses, which took awhile. I made a list of their names, so that made it easier. I keep in touch with some of them.Gail, having stents put into the heart isn’t nearly as compicated as it used to be. I had 2 put in back in 2010 & I’ve been fine since then. I think it’s even easier nowadays.. It used to be a surgical operation, but they can give him meds too. I hope it all goes well for him. There’s little or no recover time now. No incisions that I know of. IT’s amazing how medicine has come so far! I’ll keep you in my prayers. I had that dye test myself. they call it a nuclear test. they inject it into you & it feels like a heater goes off in your body. It doesn’t last long. Easy peasy. the angiogram should be simple, too.
Oh going back to the brats, or anything you cook with alcohol, it bakes or cooks out of the food so you don’t taste it. I imagine they do at the Octoberfest in the fall.
It’s almost time for ITKWD so I’ll go for now. I’ll keep you &Greg in my prayers.dd
-
Hi DD,
I like the picture of the cat in the carrier. It made me LOL.
Thank you for the information on your own personal experience with the stents. I will pass it on to Greg. I’m hoping we can make him good as new as he is a very active guy.
I was remarking myself on how far medical care has come in these instances.
I keep getting everything mixed up. We are supposed to go with another couple to a concert and I thought it was Saturday night and I just found out this morning that it is tonight. It’s a good thing Greg is off on Fridays. I also have to try and exchange the tickets that we had for a concert next Thursday because that will be the day of Greg’s procedure.
Wow-it must have been hard to remember the names of all ten children and their spouses. You need a scorecard!
I think the brats in beer is a German thing too. People around here used to do that a lot but you don’t see it as much anymore. We used to do it a lot and then we just stopped. We didn’t think it changed the taste that much and it was just kind of an extra step that we didn’t think added that much.
I saw too where Alaska is having a heat wave. I swear-the weather is upside down!
Gail -
Gailster
OMG I just read this. My prayers are late, so I hope all is good.
Adele -
Our dearest Gail and Greg,
I hope the angiogram went well, and if they needed a stint, it is in, and he is ok. It is amazing how fast they do them, and after all is good.
Remember when Gary had the heart attack, they whisked him into the cath lab, did the angiogram, and put in 4 stints? It was done in seconds.
I am praying all is ok. I am so sorry I missed these.
Prayers sent
Adele -
Hey Gailster
I did read the post saying you had the wrong day for Greg’s tests. So, my prayers will count. I hope you both can rest until the tests are over, and everything is done. Waiting is the worst. How is Greg doing with all this news? how about you?
I totally agree. I told her it is not worth the bad feelings, and she may well regret that later.
I had to change the arthritis apt, as I was not feeling well at all that day. I now go tomorrow.
We are getting thunderstorms today, and a lot of rain tonight, into tomorrow. I hope your weather is better- too much humidity.
Prayers sent for you and Greg.
Love you guys!
Adele -
Hey DD, Sue, Barbara, Colleen and Gail
Hope everyone is ok, and dealing with the weird weather we are having. For us, it is hot, humid, and storms predicted for this afternoon, and lots of rain tonight, into tomorrow. Humidity through the roof.
When they did Gary’s stints, they did that conscious med thing. He does not remember anything. All he knew was that it was very fast, and done in a second. I think there was a tiny incision where they put the cathe in, and did the stints at the same time. He had no pain, and it was very, very small. Not sure, but I recall they went in through the groin???? DD- do you remember?
We are all praying for the best outcome. It is so good this was caught quick, and not in the middle of a heart attack.
On the lighter side of things……here is the bunny report. Well, the Alluim (not sure of spelling) gigantic onion plants arrived, that the bunnies are not supposed to like, and will keep them away form the garden. They ate the onion plants down to an inch above the ground. So much for that…..LOL
I hope everyone is good, and we do not have any more reasons to worry. You all need a break form that.
DD- love the pics!!
Adele -
Goes without really saying Gail, we all are calling on the good Lord to restore Greg to his best of health. I had a cardiac cath done several years ago; where they go in through a small incision in your groin. Did not have to have a stent placed but didnt hurt at all. I was given IV anxiety meds (I told them how nervous I was) and the drug for that “I am awake, but I feel really good and don’t care about much of anything right now” medicine. And to my knowledge that’s what is still done. I am not at all afraid to let anyone know I am nervous, and want something to help me not be. lol So prayers now and through this all.
I love that the bunnies ate the very plant they are not supposed to like. That’s a bunny after my own heart. Eating has always been one of my specialties. And I love to taste someone else’s food. I so wish my DIL’s liked to cook. I just know I would brag and brag on them if they cooked my something. Down South here we always since I was a little girl, taken casseroles, baked goods, fried chicken etc. to the homes of anyone who had someone in the hospital, suffered a loss, had a reunion, vacation bible school, parent teacher meetings at school, you name it. There would be so much food. I kind of think it gave women a chance to all get together and catch up and gossip. I miss this, but to a smaller degree it still happens here. I forgot the new baby one. That was always a lot of fun since you got to see the little one, listen to the story of the delivery and how nervous the new daddy was. Adele, it sounds like you do have a “planner” since so much has already been considered and planned. Is she beginning to show yet? Bet that is cute. Do they know if it is a boy or girl? Happy time.
Neal has to go to Ok. City for a month for training, and will be spending the night here with us on his way. He will be here in a couple of weeks. We are very anxious to see him. We are going to visit them in NC in September. I want to go now; like tonight, but it is so hot and stormy that I am literally scared for us to go. We have AAA, but Jerry is SO impatient. We have had flats, and he will not wait for them to get to us, and one of my worst fears is being out on the road in this heat and having a problem where the air conditioner fails. Jerry just couldn’t make it and I don’t think I could either because this heat is deadly. You can barely breathe. We have started going in to town for necessities after the sun begins to go down. That’s bad.
I am worried about my brother and SIL. They live in New Orleans. There is an evacuation now from the tropical storm. I have been trying to reach them by phone and message for two days, but no avail. He is retired from a professor and his wife is in social services. I just love them so much. I am so worried. They have two little pugs, and I know they will not leave them. THey moved there last year. He is an artist. If you ever want to look up his website to see his work it is Where Y-Art.net John Turner. I think he is talented but course I am a little bit biased. ha ha
Sue I love those beautiful Amish quilts. They are works of art to me. I cannot imagine the hours and hours put into making one. And the baking those ladies do just makes my mouth water thinking about it. I would love to live in an area that has so much wonderful things to see, do and taste. We are known for our music history, BBQ, and the Mississippi RIver. We live on the edge of a state park, so it is really rural here. I know you must have a Wahlburgers close to you, Gail. Isn’t Boston where they first opened? Do you by any chance know them? I just love Donnie Wahlburg and his uplifting attitude. He seems so grateful to me, and I think Mark is a good actor. I have often wondered what their other brothers do for a living. Just wondering.
Better go for now. Take care everyone. Watch after Greg. And I hope your pain doesn’t get so bad for you Adele. How is Tillie doing? Hope well. Barbara -
Barbara,
I hope your brother and SIL are okay. I looked up his artwork when you mentioned his site before and he is very talented. Do you own any of his pieces? That would be so cool. I know I often mention that my brother has written a couple of books. So has my nephew but his is more an academic type of tome. I own my nephew’s book just for the support but I doubt I will ever read it as it is about economics. (I think) lol My brother’s second book is dedicated to me and my sister which is kind of cool. Now if I could only get Greg to write a song about me and record it. lol
It’s a good idea to wait until September to visit NC. How many hours is the trip? will you do it in a day. Just about the time Neal is getting back home from Oklahoma it will be time to visit. I am so glad they are closer.
Let’s face it Barbara. Memphis is known for Elvis-I’ll bet that’s what most people think of first. I think of Elvis and the ducks at The Peabody (I think that’s the hotel-correct me if I’m wrong) I think it’s amazing the number of people that go to Graceland each year-so many years after Elvis’ passing. I tell people if they are in Memphis they must go there as it just seems it’s something that you must do at least once. It is a beautiful piece of property kind of in the middle of a neighborhood that seems to be not the best. Unless things have changed since we were there which was probably 20 years ago.
I know you got mixed up but Wahlburgers would be by Adele not us. Adele, anyone in your family ever been there?
Thank you for the prayers for Greg. With all these prayers he has to be okay.

Gail -
sorry-that posted twice. My computer has been acting goofy this morning.
-
Adele,
That’s weird that the bunnies ate the things that they are not supposed to like. I guess they didn’t read the brochure.
Something just knocked down our hummingbird feeder. It was something heavier than a squirrel too as the hook was bent and the screw hook was bent. Maybe a raccoon? We saw a fox last night on our way home. We went to a Motown tribute band and went out to eat with another couple. It was a beautiful night and we sat outdoors right across the street from a lake at the restaurant.
Greg and I are doing okay. I think we were just surprised as we really thought the stress test would show nothing. So we were off guard. He said last night one of the things that worries him most is his mother had an angiogram and it caused her to have a stroke so that is in the back of his mind.
The first day my brain was so foggy but now i am doing research and talking to people so I feel better. of course there’s always that element of fear of the unknown but with all the prayers we are getting I know we will be okay.
So when is the reveal party? What will you be preparing for that or will they be giving you a break and bringing in food?
It’s CIJ all weekend so maybe we will find something pretty.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
We’ve been having what we call a normal July compared to the last 2 summers. Cloudy in the morning, then sunny in the afternoon. After the past couple summers, we’ll take this anytime!! This time last yr we were baking in the heat.
I went to see the psychologist yesterday, & I think it’s the last time I’ll need to see him. For the first time I didn’t break down in tears. I told him about Snowball & showed him pics of her. I told him of her antics & how she makes me laugh with that little pink tongue sticking out. Don’t get me wrong, I do miss Jewell terribly. But with Snowball being a distraction, & company, I miss her a little less. Just a teeny tiny bit.
I hope everyone will be safe from the storm. Batten down the hatches, & be safe.Adele, yes they did my stents thru the groin, but there was no pain. That was back in 2010, so I’d imagine they’ve improved the procedures since then.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
Just being lazy.
Have a great weekend, I’ll say prayers for your safety from the storm.
dd -
Hey Barbara!
We are all praying nothing happens to you, and your family. This storm is awful. Please be careful. I hope you do not have to evacuate. As soon as we heard where it is going, Gary asked me if you would be ok. These storms are so awful and they are getting worst.
That is great that your son will be visiting soon. I also know you will be counting the days until September. It will be faster than you realize. I bet you will need a trailer to bring all the goodies to little Colin.
Marissa has a tiny little belly. She is very self conscious about it, and that is so funny. We do not know the gender yet. But, we will have a Gender Reveal Party the end of this month. It will be here- these are new things the kids are doing lately. We are having it simple- pizza, salad, and mini pastries form a local place. I will make cookies, of course!! It is going to be fun.
The kids just arrived to use the pool, as it will be 90 today…again. I am trying to answer the posts….LOL So, I will try to be quick….
Love you. Please stay safe- I will be thinking of you all day today, and checking the news.
Adele -
Hey Girls
We have a couple of Wahlburgers up here- I have not been to any yet. I would love to go when one of the boys are there, as I love both of them- Donny and Mark.
Adele -
Hey GAilster
The Reveal is the 28th. We thought we would be simple, so we are ordering trays of pizza- the bakery kind we can get up here, 3 different salads, and mini pastries- all from Spinelli’s . they are great for catering, and events. I am assuming it will be very hot, and trying to do it as simple as can be. her best friend and I are splitting the bill.
The bunnies are sure amusing. I cant believe they are eating the dam onion plants….LOL My neighbor is getting bunny repellent at Home Depot- she is at war with them. they ate her entire garden.
Do you think it was a bear??? be careful out there!
Anything with the heart is very scary. I know you are doing the right thing, and them catching this before a heart attack it a God send. You are both in my prayers every night- all my Quacker buddies are in my prayers. I know Greg will be fine. he is a strong man, and will do what the doctor says. Give him a hug and kiss for me!
Love, Adele -
Hey DD!
Love the pics of the bunnies and cute animals.
I think they do the stints the same way. Not much has changed at all in that area, as far as I know. We are lucky they have these things, as before so many people died needlessly. I wish they could come up with a cure for diabetes, and arthritis. Imagine how great that would be?
I am thrilled that you feel you no longer need to go to therapy. that means you are all good again. The new kitty was just what you needed. I am so happy for you, you have no idea. I was worried about you being so sad and lonely. This is a good news DD day!!!!!
What size do you take? I got a cool Patriotic shirt 2 sizes bigger than I take- a 5X, and it is still skin tight. I would like to send it to you, if you think it would fit. It would fit a size 1x or maybe a 2x. I have 2 of them that did not fit and the vendors wont take them back.
I was hoping either you or Sue could use them.Sue….do you think one would fit you???
Love you guys!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I do take a 2x or 3x, it just depends on the manufacturer. I don’t have too many Patriotic shirts. I’d sure appreciate it. I’ll write more later.
dd -
AnonymousInactiveJuly 13, 2019 at 6:54 pmPost count: 643
Adele Thanks for thinking of me I have at least 4 Patriotic shirts & do get my use of them because I wear them all the time not only Holidays, I have the bicycle one on today. I wear a 1X most of the time I don’t like them tight so I move up if it is to tight. Don’t want to look like sausage stuffed in a casing. I think Quacker runs big as some of my 1X in Quacker is big. I can’t imagine a company that you can’t return what does not fit. I would not buy if I could not return if needed.
Our weather has been hot & humid but I like it. I could do with less humidity. It was 90 today but there is a breeze so it is not to bad. I went for groceries. So I am stocked again. Sounds like 90’s all next week too. I think by something you wrote that you think I am near Philadelphia, I am not, I am in central Pa several hours from Philadelphia. I am about halfway between Pittsburgh & Philadelphia.
I wish all of you were on Facebook. Patrick is on a Windstar cruise with his family (Patrick, his mom & dad, his brother Tim his wife & their 2 boys & SJ).
They are having an amazing trip &posting loads of pictures.
Angel, Glen & Lucy are at the beach this weekend so she will probably post pictures too.Maybe if you want say some prayers for me. I am having some problems & need to get a hold of the doctor. I tried last week & could not get him so need to try again next week.
-
Hey DD
I will send one along to you. I have your address from my Christmas cards. I hope it fits. I was very disappointed it was so snug.
Have a good night!
Adele -
DD
You win both tops as Sue already has Patriotic ones…..LOLSue. The tops were form amazon, and they told me it would cost more to send them back to China than they are worth, so give them away. That’s what I will do. I was very disappointed, as one is so cute. It has bows on the back, and a ruffle on the bottom.
Of course I will say a prayer for you- we all will. What is wrong? If you do not feel like posting on here, email me. Sometimes things are more personal, and I get that. I am so sorry you have to deal with another issue.None of is ever imagined retirement was going to be this way.
I think there should be a pre-retirement year people get when they are in their 40’s, to enjoy the things they THINK they will still be able to do when they are old….LOL LOL How is that for a great idea?
We are getting the same weather. It will be in the 90’s up here too. I just do not know what to cook anymore. We need to eat, but, who wants to put the oven on in this mess? Even with the air on, it makes the kitchen too stuffy with oven at 400. I can’t imagine how people do it with no air on. I would be sick to my stomach. Even when I walked out of the car, and into the doctor;s office yesterday, i got nauseous. I have no tolerance at all for any heat.
Prayers sent to you,my friend!! Hoping for the best answers for you.
Love, Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Thank you for your tops, Adele. I always go up a size just to make sure it fits. I don’t care how much they say fabrics don’t shrink, they DO!! I can’t wait to see them. That is weird they wouldn’t take em back. Never heard of that unless they were altered. Well, at least you found someone who will make use of them.
Sue, I’ll send up prayers for you. I hope you’ll be able to get in to see your dr. soon. I pray it’s nothing real serious.
Did you guys watch the CIJ weekend? I could easily go broke & then some. The tree sounded great. And VPH sold out of most everything she presented.
Snowball’s found a new place to snooze…the desk.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
Have a great Sunday
Stay safe.
dd -
Hey DD
I will send the tops out tomorrow. I hope they fit, as they are from China. The clothes from China runs extremely small. It is bizarre, actually. They are adorable, and I am all about the red, white and blue this summer.
I hope Barbara is ok. The rain they are all getting is awful. I hope we hear from her soon.
I love the epic of Jewell and the swan family- how cute!
Last night we the new Mama Mia movie with Cher in it. It was a beautiful movie, fabulous scenery, and great songs and dance routines. It was just a pleasant movie to watch.
I hope there is nothing serious wrong with Sue too. We have all had our heath issues lately, and we need some good health news. I hope she finds out quick, so she doesn’t have to worry.
Hope your Sunday is going well. Still hot here, but with less humidity.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
It’s another lazy Sunday afternoon. Thank you for the tops Adele. I can’t wait to see em. You’re right about the size difference in China. I have to go up a size or two if I see China. It’s been that way for yrs, even when I was slimmer.Did you catch David today announce he’s gonna tape a segment on Hallmark’s show Home & Family. I don’t get it anymore, but I didn’t watch it anyway. The segment will show on Tues. show. I think he’s been on there before.
Not much going on here, so I’ll close for now.Barbara, I hope & pray you’re okay. I haven’t seen the news today so I don’t know what’s going on with the storm. It seems like you guys can’t catch a break from all these storms. Doesn’t seem like you guys haven’t had much of a spring or summer.
Take care. Stay safe.

Sue,
Of course I will say some prayers for you. Hopefully you will get into the doctor soon and your problem will be rectified in short order. We will always pray for and support each other.
Gail -
Hi DD,
I’m glad that you are feeling better and find that you may no longer need the psychologist. There is plenty of room in your heart to love both Jewell and Snowball. I don’t think of it as forgetting a pet but as taking that love you have in your heart and giving a wonderful home to a new pet that needs love and a home. It doesn’t mean that we ever forget the pet that we lost-we are just spreading the love.
I copied the CIJ shows so that I can fast forward through them. They have a lot of cute decor. I especially love Valerie’s shows.
I thought the picture of the black and white bunny and kitty was so cute. We have a pasture down the road with these cows in it. I call them Oreo cows.

Hi Adele,
Yes, when I order a shirt from Amazon I order it in a much bigger size too. I don’t often buy clothes there but sometimes I see something that i want to try. The stuff for kids will usually be okay. Do you get a Woman Within catalog? They are all plus sized clothes at reasonable prices and the things that I have bought from there have been nice so far. It’s mostly basics like tshirts, jeans or slacks and basic dresses. The prices are more in line with what Denim and Co. was 7 or 8 years ago. All the Q prices on clothing have really risen.
I imagine Barbara is fine as Memphis is about 400 miles north of new Orleans. She may have had wind and rain from the storm as Little Rock is getting some today and I don’t think they are real far from there. I hear the Saint Louis area may be getting rain too so Colleen may get some. We are supposed to be in the 90’s all week too. Yesterday evening there was rumbles of thunder and the sky darkened but then it all blew past without any rain.
I am glad that you are not cooking for the reveal party. Make it easy on yourself so you can relax and have fun.
I have yet to see the new Mama Mia movie. But they are fun movies as long as Pierce Brosnan doesn’t sing again. He’s nice to look at but he needs to retire his singing-or should I say his attempt at singing. lol It made me cringe.
Greg didn’t go with me to Jenny’s Friday night as he was golfing. Piper wanted to know why he just couldn’t have gone the next day. lol
He has his ultrasound test tomorrow-I hope they don’t find a baby. lol Then the angiogram is 10:30 on Thursday. Of course we have to be there two hours ahead of time so there is all that waiting around. They said the procedure will be about two hours and he will probably stay overnight if they place any stints.
We had tickets to see a Peter Paul and Mary tribute band Thursday night and of course we can’t go but the theater allows you to trade in your tickets for a different show if you are a member which I am. So we are going Wednesday night instead. It will be a good diversion so we just won’t be thinking about the next day all night.
Brent asked me if i wanted him to come home for Greg’s procedure but we both said that wasn’t necessary. He should save his vacation time for something fun. But it was nice of him to offer. We will probably go see him in the fall as usual.
Gail -
Adele,
I forgot to ask-how did the Dr. appointment go on Friday. -
Hey DD
The tops were mailed out Monday. I am dying to have them get to you!!
So, did I miss David on the Hallmark channel? Dam.
The baby goat is my favorite pic from this bunch.
Up here it is hot and sticky, and over the weekend, one day will reach 100. Good Lord! I hope that does not happen on the following weekend, as it will be the “Reveal” weekend.
So, I went to the eye doctor today, and it is an ocular migraine. It has been going on for a week. I get bright pulsating lights, spinning objects, and weirdo blinking things. It has been lessening, so that is good. I will be happy when it all stops, as it makes you dizzy and woozy.
Hope you are good.
Have a good night.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
thank you for the shirts, I’m anxious to see them. It sounds like we’ll be getting our summer back starting this weekend. It’s been puurrrfect the past few days. Cloudy, with sun breaks & comfortable temps. I wish I could send it to all my friends back there. But by this time next week we’ll be in the upper 80s & maybe 90s. The only good thing about it is the humidity goes down. That’s why we dry out so quickly.Thank you, Gail for your kind words about sharing my love with Snowball & Jewell. I have moments when it overwhelms me, missing my Jewell. I’m spoiling Snowball, as you can imagine. Everytime I get out of my seat, she thinks I’m getting up to feed her. lol. The pic of the cow is hilarious. I see why you call em Oreo cows! lol Nature sure can be funny, huh. I hope your husband’s procedure goes well. Yes he will stay overnight if they place stents in. I did. Just a precaution. I can’t imagine him staying any longer. Sending prayers for the 2 of you.
Sue, did you get in to see the Dr.? I hope so. Keep us posted.
Snowball’s asleep for the afternoon. what a life.
that’s all for now. take care.
dd -
Hey Gailster
I wrote about the eye doctor in DD’s post. I am so glad it is not a retina issue. Not so happy this has been going on so long, but, it is a little better, and that is good.
How sweet that Brent wanted to come back for Greg’s testing. He is such a good son.
I am hoping Greg’s test today was good news today. We all need good news days. I know the test on Thursday will be more involved, and the outcome more concerning. I am praying that will be a good outcome too. Even if it does involve a stint or 2, stints save lives, and prevent heart attacks. I know Greg wants to remain active, and I sincerely hope the results of everything do not affect his life, or affect it as little as possible.
We will all be waiting to hear how things went.
I used to get those catalogs- have not seen one in a while.
I do agree- Piece Brosnan’s voice is not the best….LOL I also have to say the first Mama Mia was better. But, still, it was a nice diversion from worry about life.
I hope you have a good time at the concert Wednesday night. You will both need a diversion from thinking about Thursday. I hope you make a nice night of it- dinner, and then the concert. You go and enjoy yourselves to the fullest!!!
Hope your night goes well, and all will be good.
Love ya!
Adele -
Hey DD
Those baby goats are adorable.
You spoil your kitty all you want, every single day. She will bring you as much joy as Miss Jewell did. We are all so happy you found each other. Jewell is smiling down on both of you.

I was not able to get a doctor appt. until 7/31. If this is such a bad thing you would think they would want to see me sooner. What do I know.
Gail It was nice of Brett to want to come. The way I see it while he might not be having fun but it would be good for him to see his family & set his mind at ease that his dad is okay. He could focus on something beside his own problems. Maybe my thinking is wrong because I wish I had someone to be concerned & care about me that could be with me.
-
Sue,
Glad you got into the doctor. The waiting is the hard part sometimes. It’s funny we go to the same doctor but Greg always gets in right away for anything and it seems I always have to wait two weeks-which accounts for me often going to immediate care.
Brent can always come home and visit any time he wants-I just didn’t want him to feel like he was required to come-and if he does come it would be nice if he came at a time where he and Greg could fish or golf or do stuff together.
I’m sorry that you have no family left to help you out. It must sometimes make you feel very sad and alone. I know we all wished we lived closer so that we could help you out-all we can do is offer moral support and prayers and try and make you smile with our silly stories. Laughter is good medicine for the soul.
Gail -
Hi DD,
Thank you for the prayers.
Yes, we always laugh at the “rough” life cats have. Eating and napping and maybe a little investigating in between. lol
My friends always used to tell me they hoped they could come back as one of my dogs as they were so well loved and cared for.
Those baby goats are so cute. Whenever I see goats they always remind me of the goat lady who used to live in our old neighborhood. She was always trying to give me a baby goat or kittens or something. lol
Gail -
Hi Adele,
We are going to be hot here too with heat indexes in the hundreds.
I plan on going out to eat before the concert tonight. I have had such a headache the last two days-I suspect it may be a tension headache-I probably need a good massage.
Gosh, my ocular headaches last about twenty minutes and then they are gone for weeks-sometimes months. I don’t know how you function with them lasting for days and days. Hopefully someone drove you to the eye doctor’s as I could never drive during one. He didn’t think it was unusual that it lasted so long?
I need another lock and lock set like I need a hole in my head but I saw a new set of three with butterflies this morning so I had to order it. lol
Gail -
Hey Sue!
You said some very nice words to Gail, and I know she will be touched by your feelings.
It is such a shame we all live so far away from each other. How nice it would be to bring you some soup, and cookies, and have a cup of tea with you when you feel bad.
I hope the next 2 weeks go by quickly, so you can get into the doctor’s and get some help. Can you give them a call every day,, to see if anyone cancelled, and you can get in earlier? Or, would they call you, if they got a cancellation? I hope that’s something that could work in your benefit.
I hope your weather is not as gross as up here today. It is making my shoulder scream, even though it is air conditioned in here. That high humidity is awful on our bones.
Hoping for the best for you, and praying you get the best .
Attaching a pic of the blueberry crumble coffee cake I made- they loved it, and it was very simple.
Love you!
Adele -
Hey Gailster
I did not see the lock n lock with butterflies- I will have to google that one….LOL
Gary has to drive me everywhere right now- between the shoulder, and the eye. i\She asked a lot fo other questions- have I been to a neurologist… do I have high blood pressure…diabetes….did I pick up anything heavy…under stress….etc. She said everyone is different with these. I would have to be the one who gets them longer. Seriously? Some day I think God is trying so hard to make me go nuts.
She kept asking if I got a head ache. I said nothing to take an aspirin for. I have some minor discomfort on the other top of my eye, which I feel once in a while. Then, i realized how dam high my pain tolerance is. I later said to Gary….seriously?? I don’t even realize I am having migraine headaches? My pain tolerance is getting scary, as I may never show up at the ER until a heart attack has killed me.
The good news is, it has not started yet today. Maybe the dilation of the eyes made it go away???? LOL
How is Greg today? Results from yesterday;s test back yet?
We are all praying for him, and hoping for the best. Also hoping Sue gets into the doctor earlier, so she can get answers, and feel better too.
Hope you two are having a better day- have fun at the concert tonight!
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
It’s another cool cloudy day here. But we’re in for a warm up this weekend. More like summer.
I have a couple stories about snowball. I took a box down to Critt yesterday, leaving the door open as I didn’t plan to be very long. I went in to put the pkg down & was chatting with Critt, when a little white ball of fur came runnning in, as if she belonged there. She proceeded to explore his apt. I was anxious as he has a cat, but she was out of sight. she went into his bedroom so I had to go in & chase her out. All this time he’s getting quite a good laugh at her antics. I callled her & headed back to my place. Well, she followed me but instead of coming with me she went the other direction. when she realized she was lost she ran after me & beat me home.
This morning I woke to find her sitting on one of the tubs watching me. All of a sudden she must’ve heard something out in the hallway, her ears perked up, she sat up straight & her eyes got huge!!! She could see the door & she was glued to it as if someone was coming in. Pretty soon she extended one of her paws to me & placed it on me, as if to tell me something. Right now she’s asleep in sight of me. If I get out of her sight she comes looking for me.I tried to forward David’s appearance on Hallmark but I’m not sure it went thru. It was on FB, & Instagram.
I’d like to get a set of the lock & lock tsv today, but I don’t need anymore L&L either!!
I hope everything goes well tomorrow, Gail.
take care.
dd -
OMG DD!!
that was so funny. I bet Critt loved her. She seems to be a guard cat. She heard something she did not like out there, and was protecting you. How cute is that!
I love the pics- so cute as always.
We had awful thunderstorms a few minutes ago. We will still get more.
I have a story too. My neighbor texted me just before the storm hit. her Mom was on the deck, and a beautiful blue parakeet flew on her head. they took it inside. He is adorable. She has a bird, so they have a cage to put him in, and he has been eating ever since they brought him in. that bird was very lucky, as the storm hit a few minutes later. They will keep the bird, if nobody is looking for her, and they cant find the owner. I wonder how far the bird came.
Hope you have a good night, and stay cool. It is gross up here.
I did see the pic you posted on messenger…..
Adele -
Hope all went well for Greg today. I will be happy when Gail gets a chance to drop in but I bet she is so tired right now. Worry just drains us. Prayers for everyone who is going through worries now. THis has been a busy summer for us, hasn’t it? Sue I hope you are feeling better too. Prayers for you too. Getting older can really be a challenge for us can’t it? But you know what, I feel this way. I am actually grateful for some of the things that have happened in my life, and I feel that it has made me really appreciate the smallest blessings I am still in this world to enjoy. I know this sounds like a Hallmark card, but it is how I try to remember and live my life now. I admit I get really upset when someone I love lets “little” things bother them, because I always think of how fortunate I am. Sounds sappy, but I really want to live my life always remembering this. It does mean I get hurt more I think than others who don’t seem to care as much as I do. But anyway; I love each and every day I have on this beautiful planet and don’t want to waste one minute.
DD. I bet Snowball is just settleing in great in her forever home with you. She sounds like she is SO smart. Auto Kitty wanted a treat today, and he clearly said “MaMa” to me and Jerry heard him and he said “Did you hear that?” I was so happy that he was there because I know he would say I was just wanting to make myself believe that he can speak. ha ha I had a puppy dog years ago that would say, “I love you” in a little doggie voice and it wasn’t really clear but you could hear him say it when I would come home and get out of the car. And it was so funny, that would be the only time he would say it. Auto Kitty is spoiled but thats just what we do to our fur babies. They bring us so much company and love I can’t imagine being without any of them that we have had all through the years.
I am so happy that you are having the reveal party catered Adele. That will make the day so much more fun and help you be more rested and not have to worry about anything but enjoying the day. Sure hope you are doing okay as well as all your vfamily. We did so much better with the storm with LOTS of rain and lightning, water running everywhere. But so many people had it so much worse; that I know we were blessed. My brother and his wife stayed gone for three days before they returned to New Orleans. THey had lots of flooding there; but their home wasn’t flooded and his art wasn’t destroyed; so they are very grateful. Sure hope Colleen and her family came out okay too. I saw they had so much rain in Missouri too. I am really happy you were surpised by your family when they visited. Your daughters really love you. THat is so sweet..
Better close for now. Jerry is getting hungry, and since we are having leftover spagetti; I want to reheat the garlic bread before he does since he tends to burn leftovers ha ha Have a good evening everyone. Barbara -
Hey all
I have some news form Gail to share with everyone, per her request.
They found Greg had a 90% blockage in the widow-maker. A stint, or stints have been done, and he is in the hospital overnight. (She did not say how many- Gary had 4 stints in the widow maker the day he had his heart attack. Greg did not have a heart attack, so that’s good)
The only thing they are waiting for, is for the groin to stop bleeding. That is where they inserted the stints. Gail went home to sleep, and will go back tomorrow, hopefully to get Greg.
So all is good for now. Our prayers were answered. Keep the prayers coming, ladies.
I hope Sue has some good news for us soon, and our prayers for her are answered too.
Love you guys!
Adele -
Hey Barbara
I just posted the news on Greg, and it is good. Thank the Good lord! now we wait for the good news about Sue.
I am also thrilled we decided to do the Reveal easy. Pizza, and 3 different salads, with mini pastries. Simple and easy. I will make chocolate chip cookies, as they are everyone’s favorite. Heather is going to Walmart to get tonic (soda to the non New Englanders….LOL) and water.
That is hysterical about Auto Kitty saying “Ma Ma”. Not to mention your dog who said “I love you”. Only a sweet, kind, Southern Belle would have animals who speak to her!!! I bet Jerry was cracking up.
We are getting weather in the 100’s for the weekend and tomorrow. God help us. I had Frankie help me vacuum the vents for the air conditioner, and lucky I did. One vent in the kitchen, and one in the office has wet spots around the edges, and the ceiling is spongy in a coupe of spots around the vents. I called our HVAC person, and he said I was the 4th person who called about that today. He is coming by Sat am, but he said it sounds like condensation. Another issue….yahoo!! I bet it will get worst over the weekend, due to the extreme heat and humidity.
hope you are good down there, and cooler than us.
Love ya!
Adele -
Hi Everybody,
It is so hot here. I will be glad it will be winter again. I love winter time and like it more all the time. The hotter it gets the more I dream of snow. That is really sad.
DD snow ball is so cute. She is going to take good care of you and a good watch cat. That is funny that he went searching for you at Critts. He is really going to take good care of you.
Barbara, that is a good out look on life. It will help you get thru a lot and your family also. We all need something to help us thru our old age. I have really been missing my mom here lately. Wish she was here.
Adele thanks for giving us the information on Greg. Poor Gail I know that she is really upset. I would not be surprised to see Brent at home for awhile. He is close to his parents.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
It is gross up here too. High humidity, and it will be over 100 by tomorrow. Totally disgusting. I hate this weather.
Tommy came over last night to help Gary install the new pool pump and filter. This pump has no earth or sand, just a filter cartridge that filters the water. Way easier to maintain, as you just pull out the cartridge and rinse with water. I wish I knew about this before we opened the pool as it would have saved Gary a lot of work. The filter and pump were not working great, and we knew they were on their last leg. Tommy (Gary’s son) works in facilities management at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston, and he handles tier pool, so he knew about this new filtering system.
Tommy has not been here in over 2 years. He recently started to call his Dad again, as he is getting a divorce. He moved into a one bedroom apartment last month, but, still is hoping he will be able to repair the relationship with his wife. He says he still loves her, and is very lonely. That is sad. It was nice to see him, and it was a good visit. Other visits were not so good, as he was always angry, or upset, when he came here. I am glad he and his Dad are able to have good conversations now. I hope it continues.
Stay cool!!
Adele -
Sure hope Gail is able to bring Greg home today. We just seem to feel better in our own beds, don’t we? Thank God they found that blockage and were able to put in the stint. I am like you, Colleen, I expect Brent will be making a trip home to se about his Mom and Dad if he possibly can. Sure hope Sue has gotten some good news by now too. Sue, there are times when I just am too sick to feel like driving myself to the doctor; even when I was younger. Do you have a good friend or neighbor that is there to help you if that is the case? Not trying to pry or anything, just worried about you. And you too DD, but I know you have mentioned your good friend. That has been a worry for me; I really think it came more of a worry after the stroke, but I wear a medic alert thing that you just press and help comes. I need to be able to drive for my own personal self; and I was so worried that it might happen to me while I was away from home and it helps me know that I am not ever really by myself. Someone told me that they personally feel it is a “waste” of money since we are all on limited budgets, but I said that I know its not something everyone would chose to have but it just helps ME feel better knowing help is a push away.
Sure hope Tommy continues to show respect and love for his Dad and doesn’t become upset or mad while he visits. I know that Jerry and Joey have really butt their heads together so much this past year. They remind me of those two on National Geographic and even though I know they love each other there can be so much tension I think you can see it in the air. And the real shame is both are right, and both are wrong all at the same time. I just see that our sons, especially Joey and Neal, always wait so long before they come and talk to us (especially Jerry) if they have a problem in their life or a worry. But I also know they see me as an easy touch; which I am. Families come with many many personalities and I choose calm over confrontation any day. I know this is your specialty Adele. I can only imagine how difficult the multitude of different family dynamics you must have dealt with over the years. That is sad that he is so hurt over his wife. So praying for good healing conversations between them.
Gail, please take care of yourself as well as Greg. I know you are exhausted. Hope you all can rest this weekend.
One of our dear friends is recently diagnosed with Alzheimers; and her Father passed away with this disease just 3 years ago. She began to show signs about a year ago; but in the past two months or so she has begun to really go down. It is so very sad. Her son, a dear friend of Neals since childhood, just went through a really bad divorce, and he and his ex wife are doing joint custody of their 12 y.o. and 8 y.o. daughters. He has tem every other week for a full week and vice versa. Plus he is constantly back and forth to his parents seeing about them. His Dad had several strokes, and he doesn’t drive, but is able to do a lot. But their son is so loving and I know will really be there for them, but his plate is so full already. It just breaks my heart. And you can see her just searching for what she is trying to say.
Well guess I better go for now. Neal will be coming next Wednesday on his way to Oklahoma City for his training. He will be there for a month. They provide the housing and meal expense allowance; for everyday he is there. We are really looking forward to seeing him. Not sure what Sarah and the baby will be doing, but we offered to help her with anything she might need while Neal is gone when we were talking (Facetime) with them the other day. She said they would be just fine. So…..take care everyone, and I meant to say to you Colleen, that I know this has been a hard time for you. I know you miss you Mom so much and I wish there was something that would make your heart not hurt so badly, but in my case I never seem to be able to know when it will come on me, but it just does and I just have to try my best to push the missing out and bring the good memories in. You take care of yourself too. Barbara -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is safe & staying cool. I saw on t he news that three quarters of the country is under a heat advisory or warning. I hope it won’t last too long. We;re gonna warm up to the upper 80s to low 90s this weekend. Summer makes a return.Gail, I hope your husband was able to come home today. It sounds like the proceedure went well. After he gets back on his feet, he should feel much better. better blood flow through out his body. I would imagine the Dr. put him on a restrictive diet, & meds.
Adele, I didn’t get the tops today. They’ll probably come tomorrow, when no one is here to get em for me. The mailman leaves pkgs in a locked room & management has to retrieve them.
The strangest thing happened awhile ago. I heard this loud rumbling down on the street, & turns out to be dozens of motorcyclists. I hadn’t heard anything about it.
I’m having a ball with Snowball. she gets frisky, & runs all over the apt at times. I have a feather toy she attacks & goes nuts. It’s hilarious to see her try to run on the slick tile floor, then try to navigate a corner. she’s quite the character. I took a nap today & she was on the floor waiting for me to wake up.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
take care & stay cool. Be sure to drink lots & lots of water!!!
dd -
Hot and humid here today. We drove in to town and bought two black Angus beef patties, some fresh homegrown tomatoes from a Peach orchard/market stand down the highway, and peaches of course, and we are making us a hamburger for supper. I have a bag of frozen french fries in the freezer; so will take out enough for us, and thats our meal. we both said that is what we want. I bought a fry pan from HSN by Gordon Ramsey from the Food Network. It is one that goes from the stovetop to the oven and has handles on both side which we both really like. The boys gave me an air fryer, and this keeps us from having to heat up the big oven, because it is WAY too hot for that.
Hope Gail and Greg are resting and having a good quiet weekend. It will be so good for him to feel better with all that good flow restored to his vessel.
Do you all have the flowering bushes called crepe myrtles in your areas? We have several and different colors. Our oldest is around 25 years old and I think about 30 feet or taller with several trunks and the wood is as beautiful as the canopy of leaves and blooms. I wish I could go outside and enjoy the beauty more, but this heat is oppressive. I can remember as a child playing outside from daylight until just forced to come in for the night. We had not AC, but no one else did either. we had cardboard like fans with wide popcicle like sticks for you to fan yourself in church. It is surprising how much air is circulated by a group of people fanning themselves all at one time. Isn’t it funny the things we remember and yet it is so hard when I am racking my brain trying to remember something from just a few weeks ago that I said “don’t let me forget to do so and so” and then can’t . ha ha
This is Joey and Lisa’s first anniversary tomorrow. It really doesn’t seem like a year has passed already since their wedding. I know its probably just me, but they have lived together for so long before they married that it is just hard for me to adjust I guess you say, to anything being any different now, but I know it is. they were planning to drive up and spend 4 days in N.C. but then Neal got his spot in the training class. So I hope they do get a chance to go to dinner or something they both enjoy.
DD, the kitty in the picture peeking out from behind the computer looks just like our Auto Kitty. It’s little face is an exact replica.as well as the way it is colored with the gray and white. Have any of you all ever gotten any of the Cheryl’s cookies? I am so tempted to order since they are individually wrapped and can be frozen. Jerry and I both would love to have a good cookie that we could just take out to thaw and be a good treat for us/ so if you have please let me know what you think and if they taste good. Thanks in advance.
I don’t know how poor David is able to taste everything during his show. And I think they know that most people watching trust his “face” and I have to admit I kind of watch his expression as he takes a bite to see if he is really likeing the taste. But silly me wonders if he has ever gotten sick or just plain full yet still had to go on eating anyway. I can’t remember which host was on years ago and actually fainted during a presentation. Do you all remember that? Did anyone ever hear what Jill Bauer is doing now? I would imagine the hosts make a good salary. SOme of the new ladies I just can’t get used to. They all deserve a chance, but some that have been there a while just grind at me. I love Rachel Bosen, I think is her name. She explains things so well, and so does Alberti.
Well, better go for now and get the hamburger place open for business. Take care all have a good weekend , Barb -
Hi Barbara,
My mom had one of those buttons that she wore all the time. It was a life saver for her. I was so glad that she had because the last three times she went to the hospital it was because she had that button on and she pushed it. So if you feel safe having that you should keep it. I cannot say enough good things about the one my mom had.
Happy annirversary to Joey and Lisa. I hope that they got to do something fun for their day. Just going out to dinner is a nice evening. We have not done much here lately it is just too hot.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Sue
Just a note to say hi, and hope you are better.
Stay cool- it is gross on our side of the country!
Love you!
Adele -
Hey Barbara!
I am learning about fathers and sons, as I have no experience in that area. I was an only child. No brothers, and I raised Bobby alone. However, Bobby has been very disappointed in his Dad, and there have been times when he had nothing to do with him at all. He finally decided to forgive him, and just tolerate him. He is a man who is concerned with himself, and nobody else. So, I have to agree with Bobby.
Right now Heather is not talking to him. A few years ago, when Heather had a tough time, and a serious overdose, her father’s response was….”I hope your mother got you a good lawyer”. Seriously? No, is there anything I can do to help, how are you, gee, that must have been awful….nothing like that. And then, he went into the excitement on his next cruise. So, I have to say, I agree with her too.
Here is the difference between me and my x husband. He says get a good lawyer, and I told her to go down to the police station and thank the police officer who saved her life. Heather did, and THAT is when he charged her with drunk driving, because he did not think she would make it through the night. The officer was very kind to her, and told her she doe snot look like the kind of person who would have a drug problem. But, then, who does?
She was really lucky when she overdosed. She was in dead stopped bumper to bumper traffic, rear ended a Jaguar, with a doctor inside it- no damage as it was heavy traffic, and nobody was moving. Heather only recalls the police officer screaming in her face when she came to.
Now, here is the real shame of it all. Months later- maybe even a year or so, that same police officer walked into her AA meeting, and she then helped him. So terribly sad I thank God and pray every day that she stays clean and sober, and all the other people who suffer from this awful monkey on their back.
That being said, I hope you have a fabulous visit when Neal comes through town from his work trip. I bet you are counting the days!
I agree on the medic alert thing. It gives you peace of mind, and that is invaluable. Can people get it at a cheaper cost, if they live on social security only? I hope so.
Well, I have certainly said enough to depress anyone today…..LOL
The boys are in the pool with Heather. They all spent the night last night. It is always fun with them here.
Hope it is a little cooler in your area- totally disgusting up here…..
Adele -
Hey DD!
I hope the tops come by Monday, as that is a whole week. the mail has been taking a long time lately. I had a couple of things get lost coming here from Amazon in the last few weeks. A Jenga game I ordered never showed up, and 2 of the onion plants have yet to arrive.
The new Kitty is certainly a character. I am glad Kitty is having a good time with you, and bonding to her new Mummy. i really enjoy the stories of how she has fun.
Love the pics- summer and winter….LOL Not to mention our Tom! We watched an older movie with Tom Selek in it and it was filmed in Rockport, Mass. It was on Amazon Prime movies, and neither of us can remember the title…..LOL I was hoping you could find it, and watch it, as you would like it too.
It is gross up here. the kids go from the pool, to inside.
Hope you are cooler, as your weather eventually comes here…..LOL
Adele -
Hey Barbara
I am also hoping Gail and Greg are ok. They do such wonderful things with scary issues today. So many people have had stints. It is a life saver.
Happy Anniversary to Lisa and Joey. It does not seem like a year has gone by already. Time flies by us, and we barely realize another year has passed.
I have had Cheryls cookies. I like the containers better than the cookies…..LOL I find the frosting is just too sweet, and I love sweets.
I got the Davids cookies summer individual cakes, and I love them. Even in this heat, they were still frozen. That amazed me.
I have never heard of a crepe myrtle before. Take a pic and post it here, so we all can see!
Well, the boys are in, and want to make ice cream sundaes, so I gotta go for now…..LOL
They are going home shortly. the house will be real quiet.
Have a good Sunday…and make yourself a sundae!!
Adele -
Hello Everyone,
Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers. They worked! As Adele told you he had a 90% blockage in the “widowmaker”. so glad he was persistent and kept telling the docs that something was wrong.
The poor guy had to be flat on his back until the bleeding stopped from the incision by his groin-and it didn’t actually stop until the middle of the night. However, we did get some levity out of the situation as we started making jokes about how many people were coming into the room to look at his groin. He was saying he was feeling like he was in some weird porno movie and we got all the nurses laughing. Someone would come in and say mind if I look and he would say you might as well everyone else in the place has. At one time there was 3 women and 2 men in there looking at him. They finally put something called a “sandbag” on his leg to help stop the bleeding-i said it looked like some weird suction cup or like a lock and lock. Barbara can probably explain it in more technical terms. Anyway, he was able to come home the following day. The poor guy was hungry by afternoon of the procedure and had to eat lying flat on his back. There was only one stent-and who knew that afterwards they have to carry this stent card in their wallet so that other doctors will know he has one and where it is placed. I can tell he is getting antsy to resume normal activity-it’s been hard seeing him trying to amuse himself this weekend without doing any lawn mowing or heavy yard work like he would normally do. Too bad he isn’t a slug like me who likes to read and watch TV.
Colleen, I know you still miss your Mom so much-it hasn’t been that long since her passing. I wish there was something I could do to make it better. All I know from my own experience is that you never stop missing them but it does get better with time. Are you still working on her house?
Sue, I hope that you are okay. I hate when they make you wait that long for an appointment when you are so worried.
DD, I am enjoying the antics of your new kitty. lol She’s a dickens! Love the quilt with the cat and butterflies.
Barbara, I always thought crepe myrtle was just a southern thing as it seems to be just mentioned in books that take place in the south. But I am not sure if that is so or not. Just like you only see Spanish moss down south. It makes everything look very gothic and mysterious.
I have had Cheryl’s cookies and I also find them to be very sweet-and I love sweets-but they are too much for me. I prefer the David’s cookies.
Enjoy your visit with Neal.
Adele, it’s interesting that Gary’s son is getting in touch again. Maybe it will be the start of a better future relationship. That would be nice.
Thanks for giving everyone the head’s up on Greg for me. By that night I was just so tired I couldn’t write one more thing. I had been texting the kids all day with updates. I didn’t even get back to my own sister until the next morning.
I must say I was pretty stoic all day-I had about a second where I could have cried after talking to the surgeon-when I realized how bad it could have been. I really liked the surgeon too as he explained everything well before and when he talked to me afterwards-some of those surgeons just breeze in and out like they are gods and we are lesser beings but this man-Dr. Woo-was very caring. He gets high marks in our book.
However, when I got home that night I did have a cry-I just think from the release of all the built up tension. It felt good-and then I poured myself a drink and fell asleep on the couch before I finished half of it. lol

I am glad Greg is okay. I like doctors like he had. My ortho doc is like that. I would have had a problem laying flat on my back that long. My back would have been really hurting. I had a drain tube in my knee to catch the blood & they would empty the little bag attached. I know I kept knocking the bag off my gown as it was just attached with a safety pin.
It is not that I am feeling bad. Just worried to find out what is going on. The nurse sure did not help matters just scared me more.
I have a cute story. I don’t know if the girls on Facebook saw it. Anyway a little girl kept saying she wanted more butt cream. Her mother said you want butt cream? she said yes. They finally figured out she wanted whipped cream. Never know what a kid will say. -
Sue,
That’s funny about the butt cream. lol It’s funny what kids sometimes think they hear.
I always think of the kid who thought in Silent Night it was round John virgin instead of round yon virgin. lol
Greg was extremely uncomfortable laying on his back for that long as it hurt his back. They finally decided it was okay to put a pillow behind his back and that helped a little for awhile but it was a long night for him. But I keep reminding him it was worth it to have the blockage opened up.
I hope maybe there will be a cancellation and you can get into the doctor sooner.
Gail -
Hey Gailster!
Glad all is ok, and you are able to come back on here.
I get it. After all is done, and you realize what could have happened, you fall apart….for a second. That is about all we get, a second, or a 24 hour pity party, as I call them. We are responsible for so many people, there is no time for us to fall apart, as we have to keep the rest of them together.
I have to say, I am still a little shocked about what happened to Gary. I knew something awful was happening, because of his color, his being breathless, and the pains he was having. I think i was more angry he did not listen, and risked his life. One more minute, and he would have been gone before he WALKED into the ER. I just wanted to smack that man. Both he and Greg were very lucky to have 90% blockages, and come out of it just fine. All due to modern medicine, and the skill of the ER and heart doctors. I say many prayers of thanks to God, the Saints and Angels.
I hope Sue is ok too. I hope they call her with a cancellation!
DD sure has a new funny Kitty. I am very happy for her.
I hope Colleen come son- it is very hot in her area too.
We are getting a little cooler- expecting bad storms this afternoon.
I am attaching a few pics of the hydrangea trees. Boy, do they have a lot of blooms this year. A couple are still not flowering yet. I hoe they make everyone smile, as they make me smile.
So glad Greg is ok…..how are you???? Retail shopping??
Love ya!
Adele -
Hey Sue!
I think that is a very funny story. Kids say such funny things. I love when they say and pronounce things wrong. It is so adorable.
I am glad you do not feel bad, and you are not in pain. That is good to know, as we are care very much for you. I am hoping they will call you with a cancellation, and you can get in there sooner.
Hope it has started to cool in your area- it has a little here, but, the humidity is still up there.
Love ya!
Adele -
Gail….forgot to say. Gary would have never made it on his back for a day. They would have had to tie him down. he can;t stay on his back because it is so curved. He is really bent over.
That was great that Greg could laugh about it. He has a good sense of humor, and that helps with so much, and gets you through the hard times. Go Greg!!
Adele -
Hi Everybody,
Gail, I am so glad that Greg is doing okay. Ron would be the same way he would not want to sit around the house. It is hard to keep them down when they want to go outside and work. We are finishing up the house this week. I still have a few things in the house that I need to bring home. We have dad’s old law books and we cannot find anyone to take them. They said that no one wants the books anymore which is really a shame. I do not know what we are going to do with them. I will take them rather then see them destroyed. That is funny about Greg and all the people coming in to look his groin. It is good that he had a sense of humor about it.
Adele I love the trees that you posted. They are so pretty. It is really hard when our husbands get sick. They do not want to listen to the doctors and they think that they can just go on like they did before. It is cooler here then it was but I am not sure how long it will last. Your x sounds like my daughters husband. He thinks of on one but himself. It is better to just let the kids decide how they feel and if they want to have anything to do with hi or not. It is a shame that he treated Heather so badly when she was having her problem. You would think he would want her to find a good place to get help and not a lawyer. That should have been the last thing on everyones mind.
Barbara, I hope you have a good visit with Neal. Maybe Sarah and Colin will come and visit for a day or two. Is she working again now? She probably does not have a hard time finding a job
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen!
Oh yes, I always say and x is an x for a reason…..LOL That is why Heather has not spoken to him since he said that. She needed help and support not a lawyer.
It was awful up here last night, and this morning. There were tornado warnings on the Cape- which is south of us, on the bottom of the state.
So, the leak is back in the living room, and it moved a little- got the good table in there. There were water spots on the table, and I was able to polish them out. Called the repair man, and he will come when he has a chance, on a sunny day. this is getting real old.
I hope last night;s storms were not bad for you, or any of our other Quackers. Global warming is really getting us this summer.
Hope you are having a good day!
Also hope Greg is ok from going o to work yesterday.
Hope Sue heard earlier form her doctor, ans was able to get in to see him.
Hope Barbara had a nice visit with her son.
Last, but not least, hope DD got the tops and they fit, and she is having a ball with her kitty.
I do have a lot of hopes…..LOL
Adele -
Hi Adele,
Did you have any bad storms there where you are? We had a really nice day here today and hoping that it will be like that tomorrow. This will be the last time that we will have to go to mom’s house. Unless we all have to go thru the house after the painter gets done. My brother may want us all to go thru it with him just to be sure it looks okay. He will want us all there so he does not have to go thru it alone.
I am glad that the rain did not damage your table. Do you have a place to move it to so it does not get wet again? I hope the roofer gets there soon and gets it fixed. That is a pain to have it leaking all the time. There has been so much rain it is no wonder peoples roofs are leaking.
We have not heard from DD for awhile. I hope she is having such a good time with her new fur baby she does not want to get on here. I am so glad that she found snowball and he is happy living there.
I hope that Gail and Greg are both okay. Gail is so worried about Greg and that is understandable. Was he supposed to go back to work that soon? I am not sure how long you have to stay home and rest . This has just been a bad time for everyone on here things have got to start getting better for all of us.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Those bushes are beautiful. Maybe all the rain made them bloom so much. Why did I always think of hydrangeas as being blue? Do they come in that color too? I don’t really know. I noticed some in a yard when we drove to Jenny’s the other night and they were very full too so maybe it is a good year for them everywhere.
I’m so sorry that darn roof is leaking again. Did you say it was by a skylight? I hear once those start it’s hard to get them all sealed again. At least you have a guy working on it that will respond to your calls.
I’m glad that you are bringing in the food for the reveal party. When is she due again? My memory is not what it was before. How many people are coming? I hope the weather will be nice. If it is you may have a pool party along with the reveal party. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
It’s surprising how quickly people are up and back to work after these stents are placed. Greg went back on Monday.
He needs to see the cardiologist in a couple of weeks but other than that he can do just about anything. He didn’t play golf this week but I imagine by next week he’ll be playing again. It really is miraculous.
I guess your Dad’s law books would be outdated for anyone going to law school today. Plus I hear that many kids don’t even buy their college books anymore. They just download them. I guess it is money saving and they don’t have to carry all those heavy books around. Do you remember how expensive those college texts were? I remember they cost a lot of money.
I’m glad you are done with cleaning out your Mom’s house now. It did give you a chance to see a lot of your siblings so that was a positive experience.
Did you manage to get Ron in that pool yet? He’s probably out there swimming around at night while you are asleep. lol
Gail -
Hey Colleen
I h ope all goes well with the final clean out of your Moms house. Once the painter is done, it will sell. It seems like all houses up here sell real fats, so I hope the same is true for you.
The roofer has not come by yet. That is the only damage we got from the storms- the leak started again. Now, we will have to move the chair,a nd table, every time it rains. This is getting old.
The air conditioning people were here today. They were in the attic putting insulation around all the vents. The first man who did the air conditioning, did not put any insulation around the vents. This caused condensation, which caused leakage around 2 of the vents, and the ceiling has small stains around the vents form water damage- one is bad. We found out when I had Frankie vacuum all the vents before the heat of last week, to make sure they would run efficiently. When he did those 2, plaster fell all over the place, and that is how it was discovered. Our HVAC guy told us we were the 4th call he got on that last week. All due to the extreme heat. I would have never known that the initial installer did not properly insulate the vents. The HVAC person we have now, who put in the new system 2 years ago, is great. He is Enzo’s cousin, and the person Enzo used to work for. I bet that insulation will help with efficiency, and drafts in the winter from the attic.
I hope all is ok with you today. I also hope you and Ron went out for a nice dinner after you left your Mom’s house.
Heather is here and outside weeding, for the …….BIG REVEAL…..LOL
Adele -
Hey Gailster
‘ We are now up to 43 people. I had to change the order of food- added one more tray of pizza, and make the 3 salads large sizes. The salads are a garden, antipasto, and green bean. Pina is making a macaroni salad, per order of Prego. I did not change the number of pastries, as I am doing the cookies, so we should be ok.
Marissa is due 1/23. the day after my birthday. I am still saying baby will be on my birthday, and just like me, maybe during a big snow storm….LOL At least we are only 5 minutes from the hospital. If worst comes to worst, they can stay here the last week, if she is nervous about getting there in bad weather. They live on the other side of Saugus, so it would take them another 8 minutes to the hospital….LOL
Those are Hydrangea Trees, not bushes. I have 2 different kinds out there. They come in white, pink and lime green, the flowers- the rest of the tree looks the same, juts different color flowers, and slightly different shapes of flowers. I thought mine were all the same. They are not…LOL Who cares- love them anyway!
You should plant one- you would love it. All my neighbors love them- some have planted one on their own property.
hope your day is going well!
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Sorry I haven’t been on here this week. I was expecting another inspection by the people who run this place (Fed. gov.). It was a yrly inspection but they choose only 20% of the bldg. It wasn’t the yrly housekeeping inspection they do at the first of the yr. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones to be selected. However it did kinda mess up my Monday.
Adele, I still haven’t received a notice of a pkg. Management isn’t here on Wed. so I’ll go down tomorrow & have em check the ‘mail room’ to see if it was left & didn’t leave a notice. I’m sorry. Your hydrangea trees are lovely. I didn’t know they had em in trees. Are you guys gonna have any kind of summer? I keep hearing about those horrible storms. I saw the roof get blown off a bldg.
Colleen, I hope you get the rest of your mom’s home finished up & sold. It’ll be a big load off your shoulders. I’m having a ball with Snowball. She’s very entertaining. A paper bag fell on the floor & she has a ball playing with it. First thing she did was crawl into it & go to sleep. then later on she’d stalk it & fly across the room & jump on it. I’ll try to send pics I’ve taken of her & her silliness. Now her fave place to sleep is the bathroom sink! I was in the bathroom the other day & she came in & jumped into it & curled up. It’s where she is right now. I do get really pissed off when she’s naughty. I really miss my little lady, Jewell.
Barbara, I know what ya mean about some of the hosts on the Q. I think Jill has a new FB page, JustJill, so we can keep in touch, & see what she’s up to. I think she’s spending more time with her kids. Her son made the remark she wouldn’t be missing anymore of his ballgames.I’m going to ask anyone who has lost a pet & had them cremated. Did you ever open the urn or container & look inside at the ashes? I haven’t opened Jewell’s yet. I don’t know if I could. I don’t know what kind of reaction I’d have. I still have it on my chest of drawers in the bedroom. I didn’t put it out here in the living room yet. It’s still very raw. I miss her terribly!!! Eventho I have Snowball, & she’s a character, I still miss her!!!!
I’m glad I sent that pic of the kitty looking around the TV. And yes, I have had Cheryl’s cookies, & they are too sweet for me. I think it’s all that frosting on them. I do love the dark chocolate cakelike cookies they put out for the holidays. The ones with the tiny chips on top. David’s fave, I believe. they aren’t quite as sweet as the others. Speaking of David, I often wonder how he does all that eating. I’ve heard others say they have to pace themselves during Gourmet Holiday shows.
I’ve often wondered if there’s any backstage tiffs or jealousy among the hosts.
We were hot last weekend then it cooled off enough I could bake some brownies. But it’s getting hot again for the next couple days, then cool off, no 90+ temps like last yr. Some areas did hit 90 last weekend, but it didn’t last for days on end. It’s a more like our summers.
I got a notice from the local Sheriff’s office the other day, I freaked out thinking the worst. It’s a notice for jury duty, in Aug.
Well, I guess that’s about it for tonight. Gotta go have one of the brownies.
take care.
dd
PS: Don’t forget today is CIJ all day. -
Hey DD
I love that poem with the puppy. I never got any ashes for my 4 cats. But, I don;t think you should open it. I think it will only make you cry, seeing your pretty kitty reduced to ashes. Lets see what the other girls say. Just know that she is not really in there- she is in Heaven, all together with her pretty fur.I sincerely hope the tops get there before this weekend. Gary has the receipt from the post office, so I can check it, if need be. he just has to find it in the abyss of his office…LOL
I checked the CIJ shows, and there was nothing I was interested in. I don’t need any more decorations, for sure. Did you see anything you liked?
I was not thrilled with the host who did Quacker this week. She had nothing to add to the show at all. I love when Angel is with Antonella. they make a great pair. I would love it if Antonella was the host for Quacker all the time. She is a better fit for the brand.
It is going to get very hot here again, form Sunday on, I think. God help us!
Did they discover anything in their inspections that needed immediate attention? I hope not, and that you do not have to e bothered again with any issue.
I hope you have a good night.
Adele -
Hello everyone. Sorry your leak is back Adele. I know you all must be so frustrated. I am glad you found your AC issue before it was a really bad problem. Thank goodness you had him check upstairs before you needed to use it. That is a shame it wasn’t done right the first time. Hope it all turns out okay. Mabey you need to just join Heather and the boys in the pool on one of those floaty things and forget it all. lol I go to the pool with Jerry twice a week now; but I was so scared the first time we went that one if not both of us would fall either around the pool or trying to get in or out of the pool. We have to be careful; but the area around the pool has good traction to walk on, and the steps and rail are strong going in to the water.
We had such a wonderful visit with Neal. He got here about noon. He stopped in town to see if he could bring us something too from his favorite BBQ place in town for lunch. He said he was really happy to get a sandwich from there. I can’t even begin to tell you all how comforting our time together was. Joey and Lisa came up for supper (friend chicken with all the sides he likes; and a German Chocolate Cake I baked early yesterday). I also made a batch of chocolate chip cookies that I stored in a lock and lock for him to take on to OK. We all had a good meal and the young ones just laughed and laughed and then he facetimed Sarah and the baby so we could all visit, play with Colin, and get “night night kisses” from our little man. I could see how much Neal misses him already. He was up at six this morning and we got up to see him off. I truly believe this was one of our very best visits together. I will tell you all soon about our honest talk with each other; when I have more time. He called us a while ago to say he was there safe and sound; so thank God for safe travels. He will be in school for 5 weeks.
I am so grateful Greg is doing so well. I can tell you now Gail that there is a life threatening condition that occurs if the bleeding in his groin won’t happen. The sandbag is just that: a very heavy bag to keep constant pressure on the artery to help it to clot. If you bleed from this artery you will pass away in about 40 seconds or so unless they stop the bleeding and get a clot to form. After my stroke; where my femoral artery was used to remove the clot at the base of my brain; my artery clotted; but about six hours or so afterwards I felt a warm wet feeling there and I knew I had begun to bleed and yelled out to them; “my clot has broken and I’m bleeding!’ and they came running and surrounded me pressing on my groin. They had to press a long time but it clotted again, and that one didn’t break through. So that’s why so many kept checking on Gregs groin. But it is a miracle what they can do . Thank God he is doing well. Tell him to please take it easy. -
Hi DD,
I am so glad that you have Snowball there with you. She sounds like she is a lot of company. I know that you still miss Jewel but I agree with Adele. I would not look in the urn at her ashes. It would really make it hard.
That is funny that she sleeps in the sink. I wonder why maybe it is cool laying in there. Animals really have their ways I guess like we do. We have a cemetery for all of our animals on our property. I do not know why I told you that.
I like that poem about seeing our pets some day. That will be so nice when we do. I also liked the picture of the cat sticking his head out from behind the tv. You always post such cute pictures.
I have had Cheryls cookies and I find that they are too sweet also. I have to get the sugar free and they are still to sweet. She charges too much for them. I guess I am just too cheap.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele.
Sounds like you have problems like we do. It seems like we get one thing fixed and then something else breaks. We are going to have to start looking for a new air conditioning system. That will cost us a fortune. Oh well that is how life is.
Hopefully they will get the vents and the leak fixed soon. That would be a pain moving the furniture back and forth every time it rains. Maybe the rain will stop and you will not have anymore damage. Those guys were not finished with the ceiling and were supposed to come back today but they did not show up. So I guess that Ron and I will have to finish the work ourselves. We will have to put the vent back up do the painting. Ron finished putting the stuff on the ceiling in the shower. We will have to paint that also. We should not have paid them until they finished.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Missy Barbara!
Well, I have to say, all your knowledge is a comforting thing to us. But, it must be scary to you when one of your family members has something wrong. Thank God you were with it enough to let them know you felt the bleeding!!I am so glad the air is fixed, and I hope it doe snot “sweat” around the vents again. Did you ever get that in your area? As you are hotter then us, I was wondering if you ever dealt with that before. this global warming is killing us all! LOL
That is great news about your visit with Neal. How nice that Lisa and Joey came up, and they all enjoyed themselves. How could they not, when their Southern Mama cooked all their favorite food! I can’t wait to hear the details of the conversations. I bet Jerry was very pleased with everything.
Neal certainly has a lot of training’s to attend. Do all the Medivac helicopter pilots have to do that, or is he getting another level of certification? Good to know they are on the ball i with the latest in medical news and equipment. If that helicopter ever lands for me, I would be in deep doo doo, as they say.
The weather up here is ok. not too hot, but on the humid side. Gary is outside pressure washing under the addition, etc, to get everything clean for the “Big Reveal”. I still have to do the choc chip cookies tomorrow. They are easy to make, so that is not stressful at all.
Hope you are having a good day!
Adele -
OMG, Colleen!
That is awful that they left and did not come back to finish the detail work. What is wrong with people? I hope it was not too much for the two of you to finish.
It is so true. Every time you turn around, there is something else that needs attention. We have not heard back from the roofer on when he will be back to check the leak again. He is reliable, so I know he will get here. They are busy and had jobs scheduled, so we just have to wait. I told him not to worry, we will just move the furniture every time it rains.
We are almost ready for Sunday. The kids will fix the tables and chairs, and decorate. All I have to do is make the cookies. I like making cookies, so that is not a chore.
Hope your day is going well!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
That guy called today about finishing the house. We waited for him all day yesterday and no phone call nothing. I am not doing that again. At least he called so maybe they will come back and finish.
I am glad that your roofer is reliable. He seemed to be the time you had to have him come. It would be a pain moving that furniture around but it is better then it getting ruined. I hope that someone is moving that stuff for you and Gary that would be too much for you two. I think that we are going to build room on for all the stuff that we brought home of my mom’s. I have stacks of it in the dining room. We have so many books that it looks like a library in here. I guess that I am more like my mom then I thought.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night and have fun baking cookies tomorrow.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen!
That would be nice to build a room for your Mom’s things, and all the books. You could do a sitting room/library, with built in shelves for all the books. That would be an exciting thing, and keep Mr Ron very busy….LOL
I finished the cookies. Ill attach a pic. Heather and Pina came this am to set the tables up in the yard. They did a nice job. Amanda is coming early tomorrow to put out the tablecloths, etc. So, it looks like we are all set.
That is great that the repair man called to say they are coning back. I am glad he called.
I am done for the day….LOL Hope your night goes well!
Adele
PS….Marissa and Enzo wanted a boy first. But, they will be happy with a girl too. Enzo is afraid to have a little girl. he thinks it is easier to raise boys….LOL -
Hi Adele,
GOOD LUCK with your party!! The cookies look delish. I’m going with a boy. I hope the weather holds out & is nice for the day. We had a couple hot (90) days but the marine air came in overnight & cooled us off by almost 20 degrees. I don’t think we made it to 80 today. anyway, the clouds burned off late in the afternoon so it wasn’t a total let down.
Have a grrrrrrrrrrrrreat time!!
dd -
Hi Adele,
It would be nice to have a room to just sit and relax. Having mu mom’s things around us would be even better. I would like to have a place to put the pictures of all the trips that we took together. We use to go on a trip every fall and we use to have a ball. It would be fun to remember all of the good times we use to have.
Now we are going to see if that repair man shows up. If he does I am going to the grocery store . I do not want to be here while they are working. My grandson was here today and told me all the things that he wants to bring to snack on and soda. Aliza told me what she wanted to have also. She just wanted a lot of m&ms all different kinds. She is so funny. She also wanted cookies. I will probably stick some grapes in there and apple’s also. They need something healthy also. lol
Danyielle and I are going to Tennessee to see Melissa and to be there for Kaylee’s birthday. We have missed the last few birthdays that she had because she had moved. Ron is not going with us. He is staying home to finish doing things here. His nephew is supposed to come and put down the flowering. I will be glad when all of this is done.
Well that is all from here.

Thundering here today with lots of gray clouds all around. So far no hard rain but supposed to be here any time now so this may be short. You have really been busy getting ready for the reveal and I just know it is perfect. Your cookies looked so yummy. So glad you decided on catering so you have fun too. This is such an exciting time for you all. I am already planning on what cookies to bake to send back with Neal when he drives back through on his way to N.C. after training. He stays busy with getting certificates and training, and this is one of his longer training classes right now. He brought up to his Dad and me that Sarah is bringing Colin home for his birthday; and taking him to a museum that day; and then out to dinner that night. He said he has already told her that we will not be going to the museum; since we can’t walk as much as required to go there; plus LOTS of stairs but asked if we wanted to go to dinner that night? I said; son, you know how much your dad and I love you but I have just got to say that I have never heard of taking a 3 yr.old out to dinner and serve him cake at the restaurant, and I told him how we had taken Sarah’s mom and dad out to dinner; picked up the tab; and not even gotten a thank you call or even a hint at their wanting anything to do with us. So the idea of sitting around a restaurant table with them after no communication from them all this time made me feel goofy. Jerry kept telling me to hush and not start problems but I said no; I am going to tell Neal how I feel. He said mama; I have already told Sarah that it makes no sense to do this; but he said this is what her parents have done to Sarah and her brother all their life; and he said he had already told her that we would come to dinner; but that Jerry and me and Joey and Lisa would be having our own birthday party and birthday cake/presents at our house and for every day she has the baby at her parents house that he expects her to leave him with us the same amount of days. He said it is not fair for us to not have equal amount of time to spend with Colin; and we both said we DO Not want to cause any friction or hard feelings; we just want to get to love on our baby. SO I believe we will be spending more time now and we are so very very happy and are keeping our fingers crossed. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t tell you that Sarah doesn’t EVER message or facetime me; but the night before Neal came with the babys wish list on amazon for his birthday. 1st message in 3 years. Our life; but I am so glad I was honest. He said Mama, Sarah’s mother hasn’t ever baked her a birthday cake. That is unbelieveable to me.
Better close; starting to storm. Hope you all don’t feel bad at me for what I did. Trust me; it was out of love. Take care all, Barb -
Hi Barbara,
GOOD FOR YOU!!! I’m glad you got up the nerve to speak up to your son. I can’t believe a mother wouldn’t bake a cake for her kids’ birthdays. Taking a 3 yr old out to dinner makes no sense to me either. McDonald’s, or Chunky Cheese or a place wehre you take kids would make more sense. It’s more for the adults than the kids. And a museum for a 3 yr old? Seriously? the zoo or a playground makes more sense for a child that age & I don’t have any kids!!

Hi DD!
You were right- it is a boy! How funny is that? This is the first time I was wrong….LOL
They are thrilled. I am attaching a great pic taken by Enzo’s older sister. It is so full of emotion, and captured the moment when they realized they were having a boy.
Hope your weather is good. It is the hottest day ever today- will reach 100, with high humidity. gross! I am still tired form the weekend…..LOL
Adele -
Hi Colleen!
That is great that you are going to see Melissa with the kids and Danielle. I hope you all have a great time. I bet you have to pack a lot of goodies to keep them all fed and happy for the trip. Will it take a long time to get there?
I also hope the house will be completed when you get back. At least you will not have to put up with all the men working and all the noise. that was a great idea.
Hope you have a safe trip, and a fabulous time,e specially at the birthday party!
The weather up here is disgusting. It will be over 100, high humidity, and bad air to breathe. Yuck.
Have a great day, and a great time.

Hey Missy Barbara
OMG. I cannot imagine never having made a birthday cake. Wow. So, did they ever buy one? Now we know what is wrong. they made Sarah socially limited. The poor thing doe snot even know how to have a family birthday celebration. Were they kind of cold to her as a child? This is what I am imagining, from what your son said of birthday celebrations. Restaurant ones are rather cold, and distant. I would imagine theirs are nowhere near what our restaurant ones are like- we are so noisy and boisterous, I am surprised we do not get asked to keep quiet.
I cannot imagine a 3 year old in a Museum. the only one I can see is the one in Boston- The Children s Museum…..hence the word…children in the title….LOL
Marissa just left. We did the shower invites, and thank you cards, and I did a magnet of that beautiful pic of the two of them- see above!
We are having another boy. How funny is that? I have all granddaughters, and all great-grandsons….LOL LOL
Hope your day is good. I am with DD, and Colleen. Good to have had a heart to heart talk with your son. I bet you are relieved to say what was in your heart.
Love ya!!

Hey girls
New pics of the Hydrangea trees- all in bloom!

Hi Barbara,
That is strange that Sarah’ mom never baked a birthday cake or fixed a birthday dinner for her kids. I wonder if they ever got to have birthday parties with their friends. That does seem really strange and also explains a lot about Sarah and why she acts the way she does. Sounds like Neal is going to make her let little Colin have a normal child hood. I am glad that you will be able to have a little party for him. He will enjoy it also. I cannot see taking a child that age to the museum . It would have to be a children’s museum to keep him interested.
You were smart to tell Neal how you feel. He must have realized that she was not treating you right Your son really loves you and Jerry and wants his son to know you and Jerry. You raised your sons very well.
Have a great night

Hi Adele,
It takes five to six hours to get to Melissa’s house. Yes I bought snacks and some puppets to entertain Aliza. Owen will have his tablet and will be busy the whole time we are on the road.
All the flooring is ordered and the installer is going to be here with his dad. It is Ron’s nephew that is putting the flooring down so that will be nice for Ron. They will stay here until they are done. So they will have to finish they are trapped here. lol I am hoping that the floors will be done by the time I get home and I do not have to worry about it.
That is about all from here. Have a great night. -
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone in fine shape. I hope the weather cools off out there. We were in the 70s with clouds most of the day. Better enjoy it while it lasts. They say we’re in for a heatwave starting soon. Next week we could reach 100+ for a few days. Up to now we’ve only had 4 days of 90+ days. Last yr at this time we were well on the way to a record # of 90+ days.
Adele, & Gail, Lock & Lock has a set of 3 round canisters with butterflies & flowers on them for less than $20. They’re really pretty.
Your hydranga trees are sure beautiful. I miss not having flowers around the area. I used to have a ton of container roses, & petunias, geraniums, marigolds, & other flowers. -
Hi again,
It happened again. I don’t know what I do, but at least I didn’t lose it altogether.
they wrap up CIJ on Wed. where in the world did the month of July go???!!! I preordered a few things that won’t show up till later in the yr.You should’ve seen snowball today. she got into a playful mood, & ran around the apt, attacking the paperbag, jumping up in the air, sliding on the tile floor, she climbed up to the window sill, attacked the cat tree, jumped down, ran across the living room & slid into the hallway. shes entertaining to say the least.
I agree about taking a 3 yr old to a museum. He’ll be bored to death & probably will be noisy. We have a children’s museum too, it’s located near the Oregon Zoo. there’s the Japanese Gardens, & the Portland test rose garden there too. I’ve been to all of it except for the museum. We also have OMSI
(Oregon Museum of Science & Industry), they have things for adults, grade schoolers, & toddlers. My friend takes her nieces & nephews there, & I guess the kids really enjoy it.
Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
take care

Hi Colleen
I would say you are on the way to your daughter’s house by now. I hope you have a safe and quiet ride….LOL Quiet is not likely to occur with a little one.
It is still gross up here. Actually, we are about to get some thunderstorms, so I have to make it quick. They are supposed to be severe, as there are warnings all over the TV. Bobby and Gary are leaving in a minute to go get Bobby’s new truck- he did a lease on a GMC small bed truck- Denali??
Hope to hear all the wonderful stories about all the fun you are having!
Adele -
Hey DD
I am going to try to answer this before the storm hits. It will hit in a few minutes- I can hear the thunder in the distance. Severe storm warnings are in place. I just hope it cools us off, as this is ridiculous. I think we are hotter than Florida!
I hope you do not get the gross weather we have been having.
Snowball sounds like a very funny kitty. One of my cats used to do that, but, before a storm was coming. I could always tell if we were getting a snow or rain storm, by her behavior. Then, once the storm landed, she was under the blankets on my bed.
I caught some of the CIJ shows. I have yet to see anything for JJ. This is going to be a difficult year to find something for him, as he will be 13 shortly. I even asked Steph if JJ liked those BTU singers, as they had the dolls on this morning. Steph laughed at me….LOL
It is getting dark, so I better get off here.
Love your pics! I love the 2 dogs looking at each other!
Adele
PS….I hope our Sue is ok!! -
Praying the storm passed and everyone is good, Adele. I get so afraid of the storms we have here too; and they come so quickly and there just isn’t anything you can do but pray and huddle down. It looks like the reveal party was a roaring success, and that photo is just wonderful. Now the thinking of names really begins; and itty bitty really begins to become even more real and his little journey takes an even more special meaning. I hope the new Mommie might consider keeping a daily journel starting from the reveal day until he is born. I know she probably doesn’t think it is too important right now; but later in life it will mean so much to him. Even if not much happens on some days I think she would be surprised at how just writing down her thoughts and fears even will mean something special to them both. Just a thought. Congratulations; by the way! Your hydragenea blooms look so much like our crepe myrtles. They come in clusters of pink, white, fushia, dark pink, reds and deep redish/purple. They are just beautiful; like yours are. We don’t have the Spanish Moss hanging from our trees here; you have to go a little further South to see it ; but it is so beautiful. I really need to watch a video or something on how to add pictures to our site. I just simply don’t know how. I am going to work on this.
Hope Greg is feeling good now Gail. I know you all are so grateful this was done and over; so you can breathe a sigh of relief. Sure hope you are doing good too Gail. How are your eyes doing? How is Brent? Hope all is well with him too.
Colleen it sounds like you will be coming home to a new home. That is so nice that you will be having a great time with the family; fun with the children, and not having to be there if any confusion comes up during the work at home. Sounds like a win win for you to me. Have a wonderful time, and safe journey. I know you have a good supply of snacks.
DD. your kitty had her a “moment”. That is what we call it when our kitty just starts running and jumping and having the best time playing all of a sudden. Right now he is lying on the top playform of his kitty tree sound asleep; but if we get up for anything you will see just his little ear like a little radar moving and listening to what we are up to; but he won’t open his eyes and come down unless we walk in to the kitchen. Then he will be instantly sitting right next to his kitty bowl waiting to be fed. ha ha He is just so much company to us. I am so happy you all are together. If you would; please send me the Lock and Lock cannister set is? I need one if they are still available.
Thanks to everyone for telling me how sweet the cheryls cookies are. I would not like that. I am definitely going to try the Davids cookies. Jerry and I both would love something we could just put in the freezer and take out a couple for us. Neither one of us like heavy frosting; but we both have a sweet tooth. Too much frosting is just overpowering. Thanks again knew you all would steer me straight.
Take care everyone. Sue hope everything is going good for you; and you are not having to go through storms in your area. Have you gotten your doctors appointment behind you yet? Prayers that you get a clean bill of health with your checkup. Take care.
Talk soon, take care all and have a good evening. Barbara -

To those that wondered I had my doctors appt. today. I need to go for out patient surgery. I don’t want to put to much info on as I live alone & if someone wanted to see when I am not home they could read to find out. Now I just need to find someone to drive me.

Hi Ladies,
For anyone interested in the set of 3 canisters w/ butterflies, the # is K48806, $19.50+ 5.50 s&h. they’re nestable btw. Beautiful colors for the lids. they range from 5 cup capacity,8 cup, & 12 2/3 cup capacity.
Sue, I pray your procedure goes well & everything comes out okay.Barbara, thanks for telling me about your kitty. I enjoy hearing them. Jewell & Snowball would do the same thing. As soon as I’d move they’d be right there at the food dishes, even if I’d just fed them!!
Adele, I’m not sure Snowball would get under the covers, Jewell didn’t. Is the storm gone? Sounds scary to me.
Not much going on right now.
take care & stay safe.

Closing up this months thread and starting a new one for August. See you all there!

Hey Barbara
That is such a good idea to do a Journal on daily events and thoughts. I will tell her about it. She has been very “tudey” as I call it. She has an attitude to beat the band, and everyone is laughing about it, saying she is hormonal.I wonder if those crepe myrtles are the same thing, just a slightly different version for your climate needs??? I hope you can get a pic of them on here.
I really love those trees. I planted 7 of them- two in back and the 5 around the edge of the property, in front. The storm was unbelievable. They had straight line winds in the airport, and in Winthrop, which is right next to Logan Airport. With all that rain, hail and wind, nothing came inside this time. Go figure! My pineapple (solar) was among the missing. It got bent on one side, and it now lights at night for a little while. It was so pretty,. and lit up the whole deck all night long. So, I tried to see if I could get another, and could not. So, i went on Amazon and got 2 little solar owls, and 2 solar roosters…..LOL
Today it is still hot- high 80’s, but lower humidity. We even sat outside on the deck for a while.
I hope you are having better weather, and can sit outside for a bit too. It was so nice to listen to the birds.
See you on the August page….
Adele
