Here we are. It looks like March has come in like a lamb in my area of the country which is the Midwest. Gonna be 56 today.

Hi Colleen,
I will pray for Christine. The poor woman has had so many health problems.
When we went over to Jenny’s on Friday Callie was still alive. She has been trying to give her pedialite and stuff. Personally if it were me I think it’s time to put her down. She just looks so miserable to me and she isn’t eating and can barely walk and I just think it’s time. it actually makes me so sad to go over and see her like that. It just seems that Jenny can’t make the decision. I know it’s hard but at this point in time she’s not doing Callie any favors.
On a lighter note she thinks she did find a person to make Piper’s princess dress. The person is in Rockford. they have an appointment to see them next weekend.
I guess with Stephen being in the service Melissa will live where ever the army sends them. Hopefully sometime they’ll get sent closer.
Haven’t been doing much recently. We’re sticking around home more what with the worry about catching a virus and everything that is going on I’ve been trying to stay home and avoid some of the more crowded places. Although it probably doesn’t matter. I was in Wal Mart Monday and the guy checking me out was blowing his nose and sneezing. When I got home and we unpacked the groceries I told Greg that we should both wash our hands thoroughly as the guy was sick and obviously should not have been waiting on people. By the same token I refuse to go to the store and self check a cart full of groceries myself and pack all the stuff up. I am too old to be doing all that. Now all these stores want us to spend our money there and also do all the work of checking ourselves out. it’s getting to be nuts. I feel I deserve something as a senior citizen-and that’s to have my groceries checked and bagged by someone else. It’s bad enough I have to pump my own gas. I know. I am just an old foggie. lol
I hope we will hear some news from Barbara soon. I worry about her so much.

Happy March!! That much closer to spring. We are coming in like a lamb. Sunshine & the wind has finally died down. The wind has been awful for 3 days. We also had snow squalls that would coat everything but that is gone too.
I only use self check out if I have just a few things with a big order they can do it for me. My grocery now has these short counters with a round wheel holding the bags at the end. It is frustrating as there is no room. That’s what I like about Sharp Shopper no self checkouts & they have checkers & baggers at every station especially when busy so it goes fast. The best thing they are only a mile from where I live. I need to stop there tomorrow after I go to the bank. I need some coffee pods & they have 80 for 17.99 & it is good. I have tried breakfast blend & donut shop & like both. Much cheaper than if you order from Keurig. I had my flu shot & am not to worried about this new virus yet as there has been no cases in PA.
I know how terrible it is to give up a furry family member but you don’t want them to suffer either. So as hard as it is for us we need to think of what is best for them.
-
Hi Gail,
You may have to have a talk with Jenny. It is hard to give up a pet that you love. It would be hard to watch the poor little thing suffer. It is really hard if he can hardly walk. All you can do is offer to go with her to the vet if she decides to have Callie put to sleep.
Christine does really have a lot of health issues. I wish that they would find something to help her stay healthy. I guess that they do not know what to do for her. I am not sure about the health care she gets. She needs to see better doctors.
That is good news that she found someone to make Piper’s dress. I hope that it all works out for her. It would be so nice if Piper would win she sure would be excited. When do they have that?
There is no telling where they will be sent when the Army decides to transfer them. I think that he is a good recruiter and is being sent to this new post because they were having trouble recruiting in that area. I hope that he does a good job there.
I have not been worried about going places. I have not heard of any cases in our area so have not thought much about it. I guess the place you would have to be careful would be at the hospital. I guess that we should worry more but they are not letting people in that have been over seas. They put you in isolation if you are coming back from an Asian country.
I do not check myself out at the grocery store either. I have never figured out how you do it if you buy fruit. You have to know the item number so it can weigh the item and get it right. Too much trouble.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is doing fine. Gail, you have to talk to Jenny about Callie. I know first hand about letting go of a beloved pet. If the dog is suffering she has to let her go. Dragging it out isn’t doing anybody any good. YES, it’s the most Difficult decision but in the end it’ll be for the best. I still miss Jewell, even tho I have little miss Snowball. I treasure the memories I have of Jewell, I was able to get actual photos from my phone so I have those to treasure.
When I had to let go of Jewell, I had my friends go with me. Somebody needs to go with her. And don’t leave the dog alone to go thru it alone. I saw an article written by a vet when asked what was the hardest part of being a veterinarian. He said the hardest part is when people bring in their pet then leave them there alone. He said the animal will look around for a familiar face, but when they don’t see one, they don’t understand why they’ve been left alone.
I held Jewell for several minutes, hoping she knew it was me who was holding her. I don’t know if she could hear me but I hope she could smell me.On another note, I do self check often. At our stores they have a clerk there to help ya out & sometimes they will help me out & get thru faster. It’s really not that hard.
All the instructions are on the screen. There are instructions for fruit & vegs, too. There should be tags on the fruit with the #s on it to put into the computer screen.
This coronavirus is sure scary. Every day there’s more cases out here. Now they think it’s been going around for up to 6 weeks in Washington state. As of today 2 or 3 people have died of it out here. And don’t get me started on what’s coming out of Wa. DC!!!!!
Critt had a return trip to the VA hospital last week. He’s retaining water again, & his right leg was so swollen it was cracking & bleeding. He came home Friday afternoon. I made a meatloaf & scalloped potatoes today for the 2 of us. I gave him big helping so he’d have leftovers for tomorrow. As for our weather, March came in like a lamb, at least where I am. Last week we had temps in the 60s, then this weekend the higher elevations got snow again. This week will be a roller coaster, nice for a couple days then it turns cold, with snow in the forcast for next weekend!! Just when I’m ready to pack away some of my winter things, old man winter raises his ugly head again.
I had to get Snowball groomed last week. Her fur was so matted I couldn’t do anything with it. I’m not sure, she had a raw spot on her side. I don’t know if she licked herself raw or if they did it. I took her to the vet & they gave me a spray to keep her from licking so hard. They gave me a cone to put on her but her head & face are so small, she couldn’t eat, drink, or sleep. And I couldn’t bear to watch her bump into things, or back up all around the house. she was trying to back out of it. So I took it off her. The raw spot if healing nicely with the spray on it. I’m thinking she might be allergic to something causing her to itch.
It’s hilarious, when we got home I took the carrier apart, & now she sleeps in the bottom part.
Well, it’s late so I’ll go for now.
dd
PS: HAPPY SPRING!! -
Hi DD,
I was thinking about you as we hadn’t heard from you for awhile.
I hope that Critt will do better after his most recent visit to the hospital.
It seems like the coronavirus doesn’t make the younger people that sick-it seems like it hits people over 65 the hardest and now Greg and I are well into that category. I already worry about the regular flu every year as I am allergic to the vaccine and can’t get the shot. So I have to say I am extra vigilant about hand washing but there’s not much else that I can do.
I will self check if it’s just a couple of items but if I have a cartful I like to be checked out. Except with all the self check aisles now at Walmart there are less lines to have someone else check you out so now there is always a wait.
I did talk to Jenny last week when she asked my opinion. I told he what I thought but that I could not tell her what to do that she had to make that decision on her own. I offered to go to the vet with her and told her she must stay with the dog if she has her put to sleep. We have done this many times and always stayed with our pets. I hope that this week she will come to understand that most likely Callie will not get better and that her quality of life is very small. I think that because Mimi died at home without any decline she was thinking that would happen here too but I told her that is the exception-mostly we have to make the final decision for them. You have to be brave and do it for the pet.
On a lighter note I love the picture of the flowers painted on the snow.
We are having mild weather but I am in no way thinking about packing away the winter things just yet. We have been known to get snow in mid April.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I will be praying for Christine. I often think that the health care that she has there is not very good.
It’s good to hear that Stephen does a good job at recruiting. When will they be moving? Are they still in Tennessee but now farther away from you?
Milk Day is the first Saturday in June and the princess contest will probably be sometime at the end of May. Piper’s first cousin Isla was going to be in the contest this year too but she can’t be now as the woman who was going to make her dress doesn’t have the time this year as she is caring for elderly parents. This should be an interesting experience.
Gail -
Hi Sue,
Yes, those self check counters are very short-so it’s okay for a few items but not for a cartfull. It’s just too awkward.
I don’t buy coffee pods from keureg either. We get them from either Costco or amazon. We prefer the Kirkland breakfast blend from Costco. We are wimpy as we like the mild roast. lol,
Gardenman just wrote an interesting post this morning about how the three months of Dec., Jan, and Feb seem to be just as long as the other nine months of the year put together-and how the rest of the year seems to pass so quickly by comparison. I totally agreed with him.
I forgot-are you a Big Brother watcher? I think we watched during one of the early years when a guy from Rockford was on and then we lost interest.
I did get interested in the Amazing Race a few years back and found I really enjoyed seeing all the different countries that they would go to. I guess I am an armchair traveler. lol I read that they have stopped filming this years version because of the virus. I know the seasons that I watched they went to a lot of Asian countries.
Gail -
So here’s something I was just thinking about.
Do any of you watch soaps?
I guess I am old school as I still watch General Hospital and Days of our Life. Years ago I also watched One Life to Live.
Maybe i watched more as I was home with the kids and did not work outside the home after they came along which was eight years after we married. Before then I was at work too. I think my Mom got me interested in Days. Over the years I have taken breaks from both of them and not watched but now i am back watching again. However, if you miss while you are on vacation or something it really doesn’t matter as stories seem to move slowly. I was just wondering as i don’t remember any of you ever mentioning a soap besides me.
Gail -
Hey Colleen!
Im here,..Lol
Well the boys tuckered us out. I have never seen Aizen that active or that loud. He pooped us all out. Then, Steph and Jhonny came 2 hours late to eat. It was for Jhonny’s birthday. Bobby knows they are always late, so he told them to be here at 4, and cooked for 5. So, we all ate, and then waited for them. They got stuck at the furniture store- they were looking for a new mattress. They did nto buy one yet. Mattresses are so complicated today. We were not thrilled, as we were all tired. It is what it is, as I say.I have no idea what causes the hernia on the umbilical cord. I also thought that was a very long time to heal. I have never heard of this. I hope it does not hurt him.
Amanda and Heather at are Marissa’s. They did nto get everything done by Sunday, as they had planned. They are hoping to finish the last cleaning, etc today, I think.
I also hope Amanda and Jeffrey got the apartment. I am waiting to talk to her about it when she stops by here. I think she may have told me if they did nto get it, as she would be more worried. At least, that is what I am hoping for.
Bobby broke a crown. He had to go to the dentist to do the prep work today for a new one. So between me, Gary and Bobby, we have had 4 crowns replaced this year. Yuck!
I am glad Ron has been a good boy. I bet he will be thrilled next week when you get Aliza for the weekend. It will be funny to hear your stories on her helping with decorating.
Hope your day went well…vote tomorrow!!
Adele -
Hey Gailster…
i don’t blame you for staying home more. We are all in the age bracket that is nto doing well with that virus. I am so glad it has not been bad for the children with this virus.
I am so sorry for Jenny and her dog. I hope they get to the point soon to put him down. It is such an awful thing to have to do, and i think so many people hope their animal will die on their own, before they have to do the dreaded last ride.
That is an awful story about the Walmart employee! I get stuff delivered from them. It comes pretty fast, sometimes in a few days. It just makes a lot more sense right now. I am hoping they get a vaccine fast.
Heather watches Days of our Lives. I used to watch it when I was home with the kids, before I got a divorce. Heather records it to watch later.
I am so glad Jenny found someone to make Piper’s dress. I hope she makes her the prettiest one at the Fair.Hey Sue
I watched the Amazing Race for the old dudes. It was hysterical! I have not seen it since then.
I get my pods from Keurig, and they cost 13.00 for 24. I also get the Donut House- that is our favorite one- how funny is that! Do you pay less than I do? I thought I was getting a good price. When I have the cash back rewards from Kohl’s, I use them for pods. So, free is a great price….LOL
We did nto get any snow at all from the recent storms. Today is supposed to be in the low 50’s, but the wind made that feel much worst. I hope the wind was not too bad when you did your errands. At least the sun was shining brightly today, so that is good.I am also hoping Barbara is ok. When we hear nothing it gets very scary as to what we imagine is happening. I say an extra prayer for her every night.
Hey DD
I hope your kitty’s spot is almost healed. It is so hard to help an animal with an injury. They just do not understand, and it seems cruel to do those cone things. But, they are needed if the animal won’t stop licking and the wound gets worst. I will add a prayer for your Snowball.
You are such a good friend to Critt. I know he appreciates all you do for him, and you love his company. That was so nice of you you to do a meal, and have extra for him the next day. I feel so bad for him and the swelling. I know how hard it is to move aorund when your legs swell so much. It is like dragging bags of flour on your feet.
Speaking of that….I have my doctor appointment the middle of this week to check my heart rate. I am a little nervous about going to the lab. You never know when you will be near someone who could be sick. Yikes!Hope everyone has a good night. Stay safe! Have any of you done the mail away ballots? Gary, me and Tillie do them, so we do not have to try to stand in line or walk so far from the school parking lot to the gym where they vote. I would never be bale to do that walk now.
Have a good evening!

Gail I enjoy Gardenman’s comments. He is very knowledgeable. I think with all his illnesses since childhood he has spent a lot of time reading. I do watch Big Brother & follow his daily postings about it. I also watch Survivor & The Amazing Race.
I also watch General Hospital & have since way back. When I had a VCR I would tape it to watch after work. I did the same with All My Children & One Life To Live. But GH is the only one of those left. I watched Days way back when Tom & Alice were on but have not watched that one in many years.
Have you won any books lately? I have not in a very long time.
Adele, We had sun this AM but it returned to clouds this afternoon. The pods I get are cheaper 17.99 for 80. But I know there are no Sharp Shoppers in your area or other parts of the Country. They are similar to Aldi but have overstock, closeouts & such.
-
Hey Sue!
Wow- that price is way better!!
I remember Tom and Alice…..LOL
We do not have any of those stores up here. We have Walmart, BJ’s Costco, Target (they are real pricey), and some Dollar stores. Stores like Sears are closing faster and faster, and K Mart’s are just about all gone.
I am glad you had sun today too. i kept opening the window a tiny bit, and Gary kept closing it, due to the wind. I just like smell the outside air….LOL
Hope you have a good night!

Hi Ladies,
Good news, Snowball’s owwwie is healing nicely. It’s almost gone. No more cone. She’s up on the cat tree shelf curled up asleep.
Hallie & Dan found a 40 inch TV on an app for free items. She called to see if I’d like it & I said sure. So they brought it over today.
One of my neighbors helped with it. All I can say is WOW!!!! What a difference. It’s almost like being at a movie theater in this place.
I may have to rearrange the furniture, putting the desk in the corner & setting it on the desk.Adele, I’m so glad to hear from Barbara.. I was getting worried. I’m sorry to hear her son is moving back out here. A shame for them.
I used to watch soaps back in the day when there was 12 or 13 on the air. No I didn’t watch em all, All My Children, As The World Turns,
Y&R(occasionally) & GH, dating back to Luke & Laura. I remember when GH took place at the nurses station. Dr. Hardy, Jesse,Audrey,
& the small cast. I quit when it turned to mobsters. I never could get into Days for some reason. I finally got bored with Y&R, with all the
cast changes, firings, actors leaving, new ones coming in, story lines that changed history of the show. Ridiculous.
Well, that’s all for tonight
Have a great week

Hi DD,
Wow-you were lucky to get that new TV. I hope you enjoy. The bigger screens are nice. Greg got me a new one for Christmas. I went from 42 to 52 and we gave my old one to Jenny. It still worked but sometimes it would have these very thin green lines going through the sides. it never really bothered me that much but it bothered Greg. lol My old one will be good for Jenny’s kids to have in their basement.
I’m glad Snowball is doing better. Here’s something I observed-my dogs with light fur would get hot spots-my dogs with darker fur wouldn’t. I don’t know if that’s coincidence or not. Sometimes it also can be an allergic reaction to something in their food too.
Rocky had eye surgery once and had to wear the Elizabethan collar for several weeks. He had if I remember it correctly a tear on his cornea. We tried the salve and it didn’t get better so they had to do surgery. Here’s the funny part. When they do the surgery they hold the eye shut with an actual button like you would have on a shirt. I had pictures of him with the button eye posted on here once. So anyway they are doing the surgery and all of a sudden they realize that they are out of the buttons that they use to hold the eye shut-so they have this elderly dog on the table who they are very careful about anesthetizing in the first place so they don’t want to take the time to send someone to WalMart for buttons so the other vet kept a spare pair of pants in the office and they took the button off his spare pants and sewed it on Rocky’s eye. So they all joked about how Chuck sacrificed his pants to save Rocky’s eyesight. And the surgery did work. His eye was absolutely fine after that. We were so grateful. But he had to wear the collar the whole time to keep him from scratching his eye with his paw. He got to take it off to eat and that was it. Everyone was glad when that was over.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I hope Marissa gets her apartment set up son so the new little family can move in and get settled into a routine.
I also hope Amanda and her friend get their apartment. Then everyone will have a place to stay.
Wow-Steph and Jhonny really do run late. i would just have told the salesperson that I had a previous engagement and left. I figure your family should come before the salesperson-especially if they are cooking you dinner. lol
Gail -
Sue,
I agree, I also enjoy Gardenman’s comments on things. He has a wealth of knowledge about a variety of things. I was very impressed with his self watering garden. So much so that I showed Greg when he posted pictures about it last year. I also read his football postings during the NFL season.
It’s good to know someone else on here watches a soap. I had quit Days for quite a few years but went back to watching it when they hired Tyler Christopher (formerly Nicholas Cassidine). That didn’t last too long until he showed problems with substance abuse and got let go. Then they replaced him with another former GHer Brandon Barrash (Johnny Zacarro from GH) but he got killed off although I hear he is returning but I don’t know who the character will be yet-perhaps he will return from the dead (even though he was a heart donor) as that is a common occurrence in soaps. lol
i have not won a book in quite a while now. For a bit I was on a roll and won several and now it has slowed down to nothing. I hope I will get a spurt of wins again.
Gail -
Hi DD
OMG snowball looks so cute in her collar. I am so glad her boo boo is better. That must be such a relief on you.
You are going to love the huge TV. Wait until you see DWTS on the big screen. It is like you are there. Best of luck with the new TV- you deserve it.
I love the pics of Snowball. The way she is looking at you is so cute. Love the rest of the pics too.
I am so glad she called to let us know how she is doing. I am praying she does not live anywhere close to the tornadoes her state got last night.
Hope you have a good day!
Adele -
gail
that is a hysterical story about Rocky and the save by his vet!
Adele -
Hey Gailster
Oh, I cannot tell you how ticked off everyone was. We didn’t say anything becasue we had the boys here- we were all making faces at each other. Heather was the most pissed….LOL So, now we have to tell them to be here 2 hours before we want them here.
Marissa was at the Christmas Tree Shop today, and got a kitchen table for 200.00. She was quite happy about it, and said it was pretty sturdy too. Now she needs chairs. Heather is over there again tonight. there is only one room left to clean, and Marissa wants to wash all the newly painted walls, due to the dust from the tiles being cut. So, it is moving right along! we are hoping it will be any day. Every day there seems to be “one more thing” to do over there.
Have not seen Amanda yet. She has been at Marissa’s too. I may have Heather ask her what is up- may text her to do that, so we can find out if all is ok.
I am waiting for dinner to finish cooking, that is why I am answering the posts so fats….LOL
Hope everyone voted!
Hope you have a good night.
Adele -
Adele,
I knew you would appreciate the Rocky button eye story. I wonder what I did with the pictures of him and his button eye. Maybe they were in my old phone or maybe they are in a camera somewhere. The vets are also large animal vets so they are used to being out at a farm and having to “make do” when they are on a call.
Maybe next time Steph and Jhonny are late you should just all eat and clean up and make them a box to take home with them when they arrive. I imagine that might set Steph off though. I can see being a little late at times because of traffic or other things we can’t control but to be consistently that late shows a lack of respect for the worth of other’s time. I guess they figure oh well-they don’t go anywhere anyway so they will just be there anyway whatever time we saunter in. It’s just a matter if you want to make an issue with the possibility of ticking them off. Even though they are the ones in the wrong. Family can get complicated.
Who knew that you could buy a kitchen table at the Christmas Tree shop. That surprised me. We don’t have that store around here-at least not to my knowledge.
Greg always comments to me on your posts on Facebook telling me what you are cooking or eating. lol He’s probably jealous that Gary is getting better stuff than he is. lol
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing well. Gail, that was quite a story about your dog & the button. Medical science is full of miraculous ways. Has anyone heard back from Barbara? I hope she wasn’t in the path of those tornadoes.
Adele, I would’ve been thoroughly pissed off if someone came 2 hrs late. Back in the 80s I was having a holiday dinner, & my brother & his wife, & her daughter were late. The daughter knew when dinner was being served, but she had to shower & do whatever. When she finally got there she got a tongue lashing from me. she did that all the time. she’d show up whenever she felt like it.
We’re having some lovely weather out here. I hope to box it up & send it out there.
Snowball was naughty today. I pulled out the tool drawer & left it open, not thinking. I heard something & turned around to see the end of her tail. she had crawled into the drawer & got into the back of it so I had to pull the drawer completely out so she could get out. she knew she done something she wasn’t supposed to cuz she came out & ran into the living room like the devil was after her. And she was, me!!!I
Did anyone watch the voting last night. I’m glad Biden got so many delegates. I’m afraid Oregon will go with Bernie come May primary.
I know I’m forgetting something, but I’ll remember it at 2 or 3 AM!!!
Take care everyone.
dd -
Hi DD,
That Snowball is quite a character! I’ll bet she keeps you laughing-which is a good thing. I like laughing.
Barbara is around Memphis and the tornado was in Nashville which is quite a distance away so I am assuming she is safe.
That Thomas Kinkade sure did some nice paintings. We have a few of the prints in our house. They just sort of warm my heart when I look at the scenes depicted.
Gail -
Hey Gailster
I did laugh at that story of Rocky’s…..LOL
I was wrong- Marissa bought a table and 4 chairs at the Christmas Tree Shop for 200. Even better. However, I would be afraid to sit in the chairs. LOL
The happy couple is almost done. They were supposed to pick up the boxes from here last night, and changed their minds. They decided to wait until tomorrow, so they can have Uncle Bobby go up in the attic with them to shop from his kitchen store….that means shop through his kitchen collection from him marriage. His x was not a cook, and let him keep the kitchen items.
I do not post much on there accept food stuff, as the kids feel funny about pics of their children on there. I have only posted a pic of the baby that Marissa also posted.
Oh yes, Steph’s idea of being on time is an annoyance to everyone. We always tell her to come an hour earlier. I guess we need to add more minutes now….LOL You are right- not worth starting an argument that will keep everyone from coming here. Just not worth it. On the other hand, we make no effort to keep anything warm…..LOL
Hope all is good in your area……stay safe!!
Adele -
Hey Dd
Love your pictures!
OMG. Your kitty is so funny. She even gets into things that can hurt her, the crazy cat. Tools can e sharp. I wonder if she scared herself a bit. Did she come out of her hiding spot? When my cats did something like that, they would hide for a while….LOL
It is sunny here, and not too cold. The sun looks like a Spring sun and not a Winter sun. i do nto even want to think of how hot it will be this summer.
How are things in your state regarding this virus? We are all at the ages of concern for it. There are no people around me that have it yet. There was one or two cases in Boston. A few towns up from us, a school closed as the kids were back from Italy, and they are not taking any chances. I am not sure if there are any students who were exhibiting symptoms. Ill watch the news tonight to see- was too late getting back yesterday to see it.
I am scheduled for an echo cardiogram and a stress test next week. They did lots of blood work too.
Hope you are good, and the weather good too!
Adele -
Hello to All my dear friends. I am SO happy to be feeling good enough to get my computer out and write to you all. This has been such a scary time for us and I am so grateful for each and every day that I feel better. My ankles and the tops of my feet are still swollen; I get short of breath when I push myself. I know it is good for me to push myself a little; I know I need to move around as much as I possibly can. I think of what Colleen told me about try to get up and move at least every couple of hours. During my worst time, I honestly had no strength to move. Just lifting an arm or leg was so hard if not impossible. So I try so hard to do what I can. I was so shocked at how quickly this came on me, and at how severe it has been. This has really been hard on Jerry; he has really stepped up and helped me and I know there have been times he was so tired or just weary from dealing with sickness. this has been going on since after Neal was here at Thanksgiving. I am beyond upset that he and family will be moving back to Ca. soon. but know we cannot do anything. Jerry and I talked about the Serenity prayer the other night when we found out of their decision, and this is what we are trying so hard to do.
I know this is short; but better go for now. I hope and pray that you all are doing well, and those you love are too. I know new life has come into your lives with the precious babies. I really miss the smell of our little Colin at that baby time. I could just drink in that sweet smell of baby. Hope all our little fur babies are doing well. Thank you again for prayers. Hugs to you all, Barbara -
OMG Missy Barbara!
So happy you were able to post and are feeling better. My prayers for you are that you keep getting a little better every single day. I am also praying you can either accept your son leaving again, and come to peace with it, or…even better prayer…….that he sees a job offer for this side of the coast- Boston!!! We are the hub of medical greatness. People come from all over for services up here, and it is way closer to Tenn. Plus, if you came up here to visit, I could meet you in person. So, I guess my prayer is a little “self serving”. Start looking in the adds for jobs in Boston! I will too.
I know how much your hearts are breaking that little Colin and his parents are looking to leave this side of the country. I am hoping something catches their eye to research up here….we also have fabulous schools, and colleges people die for. Maybe the thought of Colin going to Harvard would be an incentive. Just my crazy, wacky thoughts.
I hope Jerry is feeling better , now that you are on the upswing. It is so hard for us to care for each other, when we have our own joint needs. This aging thing is so not fun.
I did tell Tillie you said to give her a hug, and she was so touched by knowing all my Quacker friends care for her!
Please take care my good buddy. All your Quacker friends are praying for you, all across this great land.
Love you!
Adele
PS…easy dinner up here- pot pie and frozen rolls….LOL Have you ever tried the Pepperidge Farms frozen rolls? To die for !!! -
Hi Barbara,
So good to hear from you. I hope that you will continue to recuperate and that the doctor’s have a plan for getting you up and about again.
I’m so sorry to hear that Neal is moving back out west again.
I will continue praying for your recovery. I think about you often and miss hearing from you here on our little Quacker chat page.
Hugs,
Gail -
Hi Adele,
How nice that Marissa can shop in Uncle Bobby’s “kitchen.” Sounds like they are getting settled into their new home. Does it have one or two bedrooms?
Brent is closing on his new home today so we are very excited for him. It is quite a right of passage. I wonder if the new girlfriend will eventually be moving in? I don’t ask-I keep my mouth shut on these things. lol
Jenny and I went to the paddle auction on Saturday night. It’s a fund raiser for the preschool. Jenny’s former SIL and friend is a teacher there and Jenny’s kids went there. It’s a non profit so I consider anything we spend like a charitable donation. You use quarters to bid on items that the different vendors offer. I supply the quarters for us as we have a bag of them that we have from the washer and dryer in our our apartment building. It’s easier than having to carry that heavy bag into the bank to have the change counted. This way we just spend it. lol I won nothing on the paddle bidding part of the auction. Jenny won a couple of things. However, this year they also had baskets that you buy tickets for and drop them into bags to bid on items and I did win two of those baskets. Both of them baskets with dog items in them so guess who got those baskets as we no longer have dogs? lol
It was fun though and it was good to get out of the house as we haven’t been out much due to the virus and I was itching to to something. I figure this was pretty safe as it was a small gathering and no one was hacking and coughing. I washed my hands really well as soon as I returned home. Jenny felt bad that I didn’t take anything home myself but I explained that at this point in life we pretty much have all we need and if I had won other stuff I would have given it to either her or her friend Teri anyway.
We had such a beautiful day yesterday. I know some people don’t like the time change but I love the extra daylight in the evenings.

Hi Everybody,
Well I am back. Melissa was in that tornado in Tennessee. She was lucky none of them were hurt and their home was okay. My grandsons best friend got killed and so we have been talking to him a lot. It is so sad. They lived in Cookville. They were getting ready to move the week-end after it happened. I wish that they would have moved quicker. It just did not work out that way. We wanted to go and see them and be sure that they were all okay but the kids said not to come because they wanted people to stay off the streets. So we stayed home this has been the hardest thing that I have ever done. I just want to go there and just give them all a hug. Well now they are in Knoxville and in their new home. They had to go back to Cookville to take the kids out of school. If they are open now. It is scary that they have to go back to school all the kids are there and upset about losing their friend.
I have not read all the posts yet will do that later and answer everyones posts.
Have a good day.
Colleen -
Hey Gailster!
So glad you had a great time at the raffle. Great use for the quarters too….LOL We used to have one like that at the day care center my kids went to. Even the elementary school did one. They were fun! I am like you- I win something that I have no use for, if I win at all…..LOL
Congrats to Brent! Great news that he closed today. I bet he is thrilled, as well as you and Greg. I love good news.
Oh yes, Marissa had quite the good time in the attic with Uncle Bobby. We were all laughing. here is the funny part. The big boxes in the entryway are the ones we wanted gone the most and they are still here. After they packed the Jeep, there was no more room for those…LOL She will get them next time they come.
They have a 2 bedroom apartment. The living room, eating area and kitchen are all open. they have one bathroom, and the tub is a Jacuzzi…LOL I am so glad it is finally done, and they can have their own space.
I hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods. It is here- making a blueberry cake this afternoon.
I hope we hear from Barbara again soon. We will all keep the prayers coming!
Adele -
Hey Colleen!
I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your grandson’s best friend. That is awful, and I know the entire community must be grieving for the poor little boy and his family. I cannot imagine.I know form the work I did, and teaching the classes on loss, that is takes a healthy adult 2 years to resolve a loss. A child can take up to 7 years. Please have your daughter look into a good grief counselor for your grandson. If he has immediate help with this awful trauma, he will be better able to cope with it as he grows and develops. I would bet the entire family could use some help wit this loss. To lose a child, even if the child is not yours, is very traumatic. the entire community is grieving. Then add that most of their homes are destroyed. They do not even have a safe place to go to cry. My heart goes out to all of them. I saw it on the news, and I cried. I would die if I had to live in an area where tornado warnings are a common occurrence. Those freak me out.
I will be saying extra prayers for your grandson, and his family, as well as you. These freak storms and the damage left behind is more awful than words can express.
Love you!

Good news from here today. Good report from the doctor. Blood work all good. He filled out a paper so I can get a handicapped placard for my car.
The best news of all it feels like spring. Sunny and 71 degrees. It was chilly when I left for the doctor at 33 but warmed up. So wish it could last.
I was so pleased everything was good at the doctor I came home & baked a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.
-
Go Sue!!!!!
That is great news. You know how I love great news, and I am thrilled that it came from you!!
OMG- we were both baking when it was 70 outside. How funny is that! Post a pic of your cake. I took pics of mine, and I will post them here for you to see. Mine was a new recipe for Blueberry Coffee Cake. I read berries were on the list of things that are good for the heart. Today I am making Lentil Soup- legumes also on the list. I am betting the comments on the soup will not be as good as they were for the cake….LOL
So,how was the cake???? Post a pic!!
Love, Adele
PS…it is more gloomy looking up here today, but I still have the windows open. The breeze is a little chilly, so I hope it will get warmer as the day goes on. -
Hi Ladies,
I haven’t been on here cuz my computer died them other day. It would cost more to get it fixed than its worth. I got it from QVC several yrs ago, a TSV, HP.
I haven’t read all they posts so I’ll go back & read them.
I keep in touch with Adele on messenger, & I do send pics through messenger. I hope you get them. It’s my way of letting ya know I’m still around.
Oregon has 19 cases of them virus. They latest is in them VA hospital where Critt was for all that time. The cases are spread out all over the state, not in one cluster. If it spreads around here it’s bye bye for a lot of us in this bldg.
Have you recovered from the time change yet? I’m still napping throughout the day. Lol. My little 4 legged fireball wakes me up at the crack of dawn by sitting by my head purrrring or talking to me so I’ll get up.
My friend, Diane brought over her great niece the other day so she could play with snowball. As soon as they walked in the door S snowball came down from her perch as fast as she could. She greets everyone, strangers or friends.
I’m putting out my Easter decor. I gotta be careful what I put out, furball is a climber.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
I’m doing this on my tablet I had in my bedroom for games. Duh.
Take care
dd -
Hi again,
I don’t know why there’s so many corrections that shouldn’t have been!
me -
Hey DD and everyone!
I was going to tell everyone you had no computer today…LOL I just got on, as I just got back from the doctor’s.
The stress test was not fun. You had to get into this weird chair, up in the air. The chair went up in the air, once you were in it, and moved all aorund. Very uncomfortable. I could nto get in it. they had to get two of those “steps” they use to get onto exam tables, and had 2 nurses helping me. Still was not easy. Then add the injection- first you got very dizzy, then nauseous, then real hot. My blood pressure went up to 174/120. Oh they were not happy about that! The doctor came in to do an EKG and said he did not see anything that would interfere with the rest of the test. So, on it went. I had to get onto the char 2 times, with waiting in between for the meds to work. I was there for 4 hours. No echo cardiogram- they only do one test at a time It will be a cold day in Hell beofre I sign up for another test!!
We have 95 cases of the coronavirus. Our governor declared a stare of emergency. They say over 1083 people are in quarantine. Does not look good up here. They cancelled the St Patty’s day Parade, and may cancel the Boston Marathon. They are also saying people who attended events at hotels ( conferences, etc) have turned up positive. I hope they can get a handle of this thing, before it kills a lot of people up here.
DD- love your pictures. Your kitty is the best subject to photograph. You could enter them into contests.
I do not know how to copy pictures from messenger to my email….LOL
Please everyone stay safe! It is better to watch an event on TV than risk getting sick. We are all at the ages that we woudl be in real danger if we get it.
-
Here is a pic of my lentil soup. Gary had so much gas that I will probably never get him to have another bowl….LOL LOL
I could nto get a good pic of it, as the soup was reflecting the kitchen lights….LOL
Adele -
Hi DD,
I hope that you can get another computer. I know I am lost when mine breaks as I do lots of communicating and shopping online.
I hope the virus doesn’t hit your building. I hope that we will all be safe from it and that the measures that the country is taking will slow the spread.
I am very concerned and have really gone out less and less. All we can do is take recommenced precautions and pray.
I love your little Snowball-she is quite the character.
Gail -
Hi Sue,
I love good doctor news! It will be nice to have that handicapped placard so you can park closer to stores.
Your cake sounds delicious! Love peanut butter and chocolate.
I need bloodwork myself as I am due but am hesitant to go to a medical facility and get it done-but I will have to bite the bullet and do it before my RA doctor yells at me for putting it off. lol
I’m loving the extra light in the evenings.
Gail -
Hi Collen,
I am so sorry to hear about Ethan’s friend. I will pray for his family. How traumatic for all the young students. I hope Ethan will get counseling if needed. I thought they had already moved away from Nashville. I guess I was ahead of myself. I know that you just want to go there and hug them all and thank God that they were safe.
I hope that you will be able to visit them in Knoxville soon.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Well Brent’s closing was put off for a few days as the seller does not have all his papers signed from the inspection yet.
So what did Marissa shop for in “Bobby’s kitchen.” lol Their apartment sounds very cute.
When I had a stress test I was on a table after the treadmill-but the table didn’t move the machines kind of moved around me. I don’t know-maybe yours was a different kind. When will you get results. I know when I had mine the doctor came right out afterwards and told me everything was fine-but Greg didn’t have that so I guess it depends.
Well, I’m glad that the president finally came forward with a plan last night. I know we have already changed our behavior and go out less. I think it’s a good idea to cancel huge gatherings.
The thing that is the most scary is i keep hearing that if there are too many cases at once there aren’t enough respirators for those who are badly affected. I hear that in Italy they are having to chose who will get the respirators and who won’t. That is just awful.
I’m trying to keep my stress levels under control. Sometimes I just have to turn off the news.
Greg showed me a picture of our WalMart yesterday-the toilet paper shelves and the bottled water shelves were empty.
I believe in being prepared but I think some people are taking this way past that.
One good thing is I heard them say that this doesn’t seem to be affecting those under 15-so that’s a good thing.
I am praying for us all.
Gail -
Hey Gailster
I hope by now that Brent has a new closing date. It seems nothing ever goes east for him. I was hoping the house would be different. We will keep praying for an easy transition to his new home.
This test was for the people who cannot do a treadmill. Hence the injection, and wait times, and chair that moves up in the air. Most people could get into it. I have the shortest legs in America, so everything is a high step for me. then add the swelling and bad joints, and it will nto happen.
Today I spent more time in bed this am than usual. When I got up to go to the bathroom, I was very sore, and a little bent over. All night long, I had difficulty with the pain that went from my left ear to my waist. Even on my back, it ached like a dull toothache. So, this am, I had my bed in my comfy position and put the massage feature on. I did the massage for a few minutes, every once in a while. It really made a difference (I did it after I took my arthritis med), and I was quite surprised. It was just enough to make most of the soreness go away. I am laying low today. It is a dull ache, but tolerable.
I will get the results in a few days, they said. I am hoping tomorrow is the day.
This virus thing is getting bad. They said this am that one in three people will get it. For most people, that is ok, but not us with all our issues. I just hope we will all be spared. I watch the news in the am, then turn it off, and catch the updates late at night. If we watch all day long, we would all go nuts. So, why the toilet paper? Nobody said you got diarrhea with it???
Hope your day goes well…….stay safe out there!
Adele
PS…did I tell you I got a Shamrock shake at McD’s after all that?? I figured i needed a treat….LOL -
Hi Everybody,
Gail, Melissa and her family were supposed to move before the storms hit in Cookville but they had a change in plans. They had a problem finding a house in Maryville so had to move to Knoxville. Their house id really nice. I hope that Brent will sign the papers on his house soon. That is so aggravating to be ready to sign and the other person is not. I hop the next time he will be ready and not make Brent wait any longer. Did you watch the Mask Singer last night? I could not believe who the bear was when she took off her mask. I will not say anything I am not sure that you have seen it yet. You will never guess who it is. I do not get the point of all the toilet paper being sold. I understand about the sanitizer and alchol. The toilet paper does not make sense. I guess they expect to be in the bathroom all the time. We have not been going out as much either.
Adele, Your soup looks so good. I am going to have to make a pot of it again. My grand that is vegetarian likes it also. We have made sweet potato soup and squash soup. We have learned to make a lot of meatless dishes since she changed. Your blueberry cake looks really good also. It is a good thing that you took a lot of time to rest. After you had that test done you must have felt terrible. I do not like to get dizzy it makes me sick. They would have wished that they would have done a different test.
DD, So glad that you are able to get back on here. We miss you when you do not write for awhile. I am sorry to hear that the virus is in your building. Just be sure to wash your hands a lot and do not go around anyone that might be sick. This virus is scary and they just keep putting it on the news no matter if they have anything new on it. It is like they are scaring everyone and they need to quit. Snowball is so cute. That is funny that she curls up in the sink. It does not look comfortable.
Hi Barbara, It is so good to see you on here. I am glad that you are on the mend. Just take care of yourself . Stay inside and be careful not to get that virus. Were you affected by the storms? I hope that you did not have any damage. These storms are getting bad.
Well that is about all from here. I hope that everyone stays healthy. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
Yes, I saw the Masked Singer. That was a surprise! I liked at the end of the show when she was singing again and Nick was singing too-he was really getting into it. I think that show is fun-nothing serious just plain people having a good time. Something we really need right now too.
Now I’m wondering if we should do our regular Friday night visit to Jenny’s-I heard this morning that kids can have the virus and no one even knows.
I’m trying to limit my news watching as if I watch too much I get frightened.
So none of us will have much to talk about as we are not going out and doing things and we are not even seeing family. We will have to start making up stories. Which reminds me-I started a new book discussion for 2020-I will go and add my books to that.
I am on book number five in the Harry Potter series. I am enjoying it so much and Kendall is happy that I am reading them-except now she’s bugging her Mom to read them too. Jenny is not really into reading those kinds of books-although she did read The Chronicles of Narnia.
When did you read the books?
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I just heard this morning that schools in New Mexico are closed and just last week when I asked Brent about it he had heard of no cases in his area. Maybe the governor of that state is being proactive which isn’t a bad idea.
Greg had the same test without the treadmill just a few weeks ago and he said he was on a table laying down afterwards so they must have a different type of machine in your area-it’s probably something more progressive as you are close to a large city and we live in the boonies.
Greg has a doctor’s appointment today-he has had this sinus infection and it just isn’t cleared up yet and the office actually called him yesterday to check on him. So he has an appointment this afternoon-in the meantime the city does an inspection on rental properties and he’s trying to get ready for that too. And people are calling his business and asking what their plan is for right now-no one really has a plan they are playing it by ear. I did suggest to him that within the office and plant that they do a wipe down of work areas, bathrooms, eating area and office surfaces so they are going to start doing that.
I hope the aches from the test are less today. Sounds like the bed helps a lot.
Maybe people are hoarding toilet paper because they figure they will need it if they are in their homes for a couple of weeks. I know when we go to Costco I always pick up their giant size package basically so we don’t have to buy any for a few months afterwards. I’ll bet four of those packages would be a years worth. I guess some people do get diarrhea with the virus as I did see that on a symptom list. But I think the main effect is on the lungs.
I don’t blame you for getting the shake after the test. I often treat myself like that after I have dome something stressful.
I guess maybe we will stay home tonight. I really don’t want to but maybe it’s best. Spring break is in two weeks here-I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t start it earlier.
I have never seen anything like this in my lifetime. I was about five when the polio vaccine came out but I would imagine before that there was a huge level of fear about getting that and especially because people didn’t know how you got it-I remember some people thought it was from swimming and I know a woman who had a life long fear of water because of that. Like Greg said during WWII we stopped everything else for the war effort and maybe we should be doing the same type of thing right now.
Anyway, I’ve decided to try and look at this as a time to catch up on chores and movies and get out the board games and do stuff that we don’t normally take the time to do. I’m trying to turn lemons into lemonade. And I will also be having some vodka and lemonade to take the edge off. lol
Gail -
Hey Colleen
Well ladies…….I do not want Marissa to go to J’s, so i tried to order on line. No toilet paper, Kleenex, napkins or paper towels are available at BJ’s, Walmart, Amazon or ebay. On Amazon I could order a package of paper towels for 50.00, instead of 22.00 that it usually costs. Seriously?
So after trying to even get can soup, macaroni, or any box of cereal from BJ’s, I decided to stock up on Easter candy…..got Robins Eggs, Reeses Eggs and M&M’s coming. (M&M for Gary) We may not be able to blow our noses, or wipe our bums, but we will have plenty of chocolate for the hunker down crisis.
I hope your daughter and her family are all settled in their new home, and that they love it.
I have a dull headache, back of my throat is sore, and I am sneezing. I am praying it is from my doctor changing my claritin d prescription to plain claritin. Fever is up one degree- that happens to me once in a while.
Just heard the schools here closed- just about all of them. It is getting crazy.
Hope you are all ok.
Adele -
Hey Gailster
#45 is on TV, with staff, being his dismissive self. he will be personally responsible for the deaths that occur form trying to keep the facts and the testing from the people. They had testing done with permission from the feds only, because he is trying to keep the numbers of sick people down.
All schools in Massachusetts have closed, as far as I can see. Earlier the Boston schools were open, but I think they are closed too. Something must have happened today- I just put the TV on. they just said he said….”I don’t take responsibility at all”. Wow.
Also heard the state of NY is making their own hand sanitizer. Wow, is all I can say.
On the positive side- did rent get to close on his house?
I think greg may not have to dot he house inspections, as everything seems to be closing. I just got an email form the state retirement board, saying they are closing, and will have only a few ER staff available. So, the state seems to be closing here too. Dam. I was making a lot of jokes earlier, but not now.
Please stay safe!
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
I hope every one is doing fine. Our governor closed all the schools through March due to the virus. Every day it’s something closing down.
With all the sports suspended there’s gonna be a lot of people unhappy this weekend! I wonder what’s gonna be on the tv without MarchMadness.
The weather did a complete 180 from yesterday! It’s barely out of the 30s today. The snow level is way down to almost the valley floor where I am. I didn’t see any, but I heard it wasn’t too far away. I’ll find out in a while when the news comes on.
I got the old clunker tv out of my bedroom today, & put the other one I had out here in there. (?) Did that make sense?
I’m biting my lip cause of I put in print what I’m thinking I could be in a whole lotta trouble!!! I think you know what/who I’m talking about!!
I’m gonna tell a funny thing about Snowball. I was going through my Easter decor & rolled out a few of my plastic eggs & she didn’t play with em, she ran away!! I thought she’d play with em, Jewell had a ball batting them around.
Well it’s almost time for the news & dinner time. Stay well everyone!!
dd -
WE GOT SNOW!!!!!
Dd -
Hey DD
We had sun up here today. Chilly, but nice. At least the snow is pretty to watch coming down…..it will disappear in a day this time of year. At least, I hope it does. I kind of wish we had some snow before the end of the year. I know it sounds nuts, but I miss it.
It is bad up here. Bobby is going to try to do the shopping tomorrow when the store opens. He contacted his produce friend and he told him they have 2 trucks coming in tonight to re-stock the Stop and Shop in our town.
I hope everyone is nice and safe, and everyone has toilet paper….LOL
I love your beautiful plates, and the collection of animals. Very pretty.
I think it is hysterical that Snowball does not like the eggs. Maybe they make too much nose for her. She is usually so inquisitive and into everything. Maybe she will like them next year. I took out the temptations egg hunt little ramekins today.
I hope you have a good night. I still feel a little nasal, but thank God it did not get any worst. Still a tiny fever too. Aizen was sick this week, and Steph took him to the doctor to e checked. They would not do a covid 19 test on him, so we all thought it best not to have the boys this weekend, just in case. he had all the symptoms they speak of on TV- headache, sneezing cough, and slight fever.
We will have plenty of time to get the boys, as there is no school up here for a while.
Have a good night- SNL is another repeat- dam.

I went to the grocery store today. They still are fairly well stocked except for hand sanitizer (none due in until April), toilet paper & bottled water. Those shelves were empty. I wish some of those people left some toilet paper for the rest of us. I hope I don’t run out. I use a lot because the doctor says drink more water & the more you drink the more you go. So I have everything I need except TP. The cases in PA are really going up but so far none in this county or surrounding counties. Most are in Montgomery & Franklin counties & they have totally shut those counties down. Nobody in or out. No Amtrack service. All schools closed & universities are online classes. The store had wipes at the door to wipe down the shopping carts.

Hi Gail,
I could not believe all the energy that Sara Palin has. She was bouncing all over that stage. It was funny that they thought for sure it was a young person. It was such a shock when she too that mask off. I am really am enjoying that show.People cannot complain about the voting or who wins or loses. It is just a lot of fun.
We have our grand we can talk about and old times. This might be a good time to think of something the was popular when we were kids. How many of us had party lines when we were kids. Or something else that we can think of. We will have to think of something.
Did you get that cold weather your way? They were showing snow around Rockford. I just wondered if they got it and if you got it also. We are just getting rain but the temps have dropped also. I do not know what it will be like tomorrow.
I hope that you are enjoying the Harry Potter books. I read them when they first came out. My grands have them now. I will be glad when they get done reading all of them and bring them back. I may reread some of them. They are really good. Jenny would like them if she started reading them.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
We went to go to Costco and bought toilet paper before all this started. So we have plenty. I also bought kleenex and paper towels also. So we have enough to last til this is over with. That is funny that you could not get anything but Easter candy. Well at least you will have plenty of that.
Melissa loves her new home ans so do the kids. Ethan has already made a bunch of friends that live in the neighborhood. She said they all go to school together and hang out after school. One of the boys mom’s took the kids to go swimming at an inside pool. So I guess he is set for friends right now.
The schools closed here also. They were going on spring break and just decided to shut down a day early. They are cleaning the schools with that bleach stuff. I hope that it all works out okay.
I can’t believe that you got snow this late in the year. I guess that it has happened before. It has been such a long day and depressing with all the clouds and rain. I am ready for the sun.
Do you watch the masked singer? It is really good and fun. I really enjoy watching it and seeing who they unmask next. I have only guessed on person right and that was Dion Warwick. Her voice was just too recognizeable.
Well that is all from here. Hope your snow melts quickly. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I bet that was a surprise when you saw snow on the ground. I would not mind if it snowed here. We did not have enough this winter and I would like to see just one good snow.
That is funny that snowball would not play with the Easter eggs. You would think that she would go after them and bat them around. She is a funny cat. She is not anything like my daughters cat. That poor thing is crazy.
I cannot remember a time when there were not any sports on TV. That will be interesting. Maybe people will do things as families and not sit and watch tv’s. They will also talk to each other.
Even friends will do more things together. We cannot be afraid to be around each other. That is just my opinion though maybe not many others think the way I do.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
We got some snow yesterday but it’s all melted by now.
I’ll bet if you left one of those plastic eggs just sitting around Snowball will check it out eventually and then she’ll be batting it around.
Gail -
Hi Sue,
I have heard of people stealing the things that hold the wipes in front of the stores. You know if people would just take what they need there would be enough to go around for everyone.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Sarah Palin was very energetic. I like the show because it’s a competition but no one takes it seriously. Everyone just seems to have a lot of fun and we sure do need that right now.
We did get snow yesterday but it’s gone today.
Last night there was the most beautiful red sunset. It’s sunny today but chilly-only in the 30’s.
I could see rereading the Harry Potter books. They have so much in them I know I won’t be able to remember it all-especially now at my age. Kendall is already rereading them. I just love it when kids get excited about books. I also love to hear Piper read as she is in first grade and it’s almost like you can see her little mind making sense out of the letters. I don’t know why that gives me so much pleasure but it does.

Hi Adele,
Well the governor closed the schools last week and today he has closed bars and restaurants. I think he his taking this all very seriously and really trying to be proactive and I admire him for that even though I didn’t vote for him. lol He is really pissed at Trump for the mess at O’Hare last night with people waiting in large groups for 4 to 6 hours to go through customs and get medical checks.
I think if more states closed down we would be able to get a better handle on this and not have it swell to a point where people can’t get the medical help that they need. That’s what I am afraid of.
Greg and I are hunkered down. We are staying home for the next several weeks. He’s even staying home from working and doing what he can from home. They are doing serious cleaning measures at work and trying to keep the people a safe distance from each other as much as possible.
So mid week we will probably try to order groceries online from WalMart and drive over and pick them up.
Jenny did offer to shop for us but if we can do this on our own I think we should.
Besides by midweek we may be ready for a drive outside in the car.
Greg said by about Wednesday he will probably be like Jenny’s dog Luke who is very hyper and loaded with energy(I am afraid of that too) I may have to send him out for a bike ride. lol or take him outside and throw a ball for him to fetch. lol
I know we all miss seeing the grands but the doctors keep saying that we should probably stay away from them as they could get us sick.
I noticed this morning watching the Chicago news it’s all the young folks going around to the bars and restaurants-as I don’t think they take it as seriously as us old folks.
I know all the live theaters closed down by the end of last week.
I must say I never imagined I would see anything like this. I just wish people would stop going crazy with the hoarding. There’s enough for everyone as long as you just take what you need.
We all know who has all the Easter candy! lol
Well I hope we can all find a silver lining in this. I am trying to stay positive even though sometimes I get somewhat anxious. I did cry a few tears when I thought about not seeing the kids for several weeks but it’s a small price to pay for being able to see them for lots of years to come.
If you see any funny jokes post them if you can. Greg sent me a picture of my next birthday present. Gold earrings with pearl toilet paper rolls. lol
Gail
Stay safe, stay healthy, stay positive. -
Here’s my earrings.
-
Please no one be offended by this. I think you all know I take this very seriously and I feel terrible for the loss of lives world wide.
I pray for the doctors all around the world who must be exhausted caring for patients and I am so sad for the loss of lives.
But I also hope that I can make someone smile – I know this gave me a chuckle-and seriously hoarding toilet paper is kind of ridiculous.
Also on our own local Harvard 411 Facebook group there are people offering to shop for the elderly and I find this so heartwarming. If we all pull together we will get through this. I hear people in other areas of the country are offering to help in the same way. I hope people will continue to be kind to each other.
Okay. I hope I’m done now.
Gail
I guess I had a lot to get off my chest. -

I think for the most part Americans try to help each other but there are always a few that make it bad. I worry about the ones that are not taking it seriously. I have a friend that thinks it is just a scare tactic by the media. I don’t get that as she is my age & her husband has cancer so you would think she would be taking safeguards. I am not living in fear but will use things to protect myself. We get more & more cases everyday. None in this county yet that I know about. I hope it does not get into the Amish community as they are not clean people anyway & will never stay at home. Some are cleaner than others.
I heard on the news tonight that the grocery stores are closing at midnight so they can deep clean & stock shelves as trucks come in. -
AnonymousInactiveMarch 15, 2020 at 9:00 pmPost count: 643
DD whats happening in your part of the World? I just saw they are telling people not to call 911 because they are out of toilet paper.
-
Sue,
I also worry about the people who are not taking everything seriously. I think maybe the media does talk about it maybe more than they should but when I become overwhelmed I have just learned that I have to turn stuff off and walk away and do something else for awhile.
I am surprised that your friend is not concerned too-especially with a husband who is battling cancer. I think as more and more things close down people will be forced to realize that this is serious stuff.
People can really be ridiculous-imagine calling 911 for no toilet paper! That’s the first time I heard of that.
Greg had a doctor’s appointment on Friday and our doctor told him she could write a book about all the crazy stuff she’s heard in the last couple of weeks.
I am due for bloodwork and am still trying to figure out how to get that done.
Stay safe.

Hi Ladies,
Here’s an update on what’s going on here. we have 36 cases through out the state, & one death. A 70 yr old man passed away at the local VA hospital the other day. the governor has closed all schools through March, now is considering closing down all the restaurants, & bars. that won’t go over well.
I haven’t heard about the casinos yet. They attract large crowds.
So far I haven’t heard of any cases here in the bldg as yet. Since I’m on the top floor, it’s less traveled
than the other floors. Critt & I are well stocked for the rest of the month, I hope. I ran out of TP awhile back so I decided to get a couple pkgs on paydays so I think I have enough for now.
I have 2 bottles of rubbing alcohol so I can add it to some hand soap that’s running low. I’m not sure where I’d find aloe vera gel so I’ll improvise.
I’ve heard of people calling 911 about McDonald’s or Taco Bell or some place not giving them their order, or some dumb thing.
We had some excitement Friday morning. First the fire alarm went off waking everybody up, then an hour later(?) I hear more sirens, so I look out & 2 police cars are coming up the one way street the WRONG DIRECTION!!! In all the yrs I’ve been here I’ve never seen that before!! They came running in & that was all I saw. Later on 2 more cop cars showed up but no lights or sirens. I’m still not sure what happened, I asked the manager, but he couldn’t be specific. They didn’t come after me so that’s a good thing.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
Take care & STAY SAFE

Hi Gail,
I like the toilet paper earrings. You know that sometimes we all have to laugh at ourselves and and laugh at the situation. If we do not laugh we will all go crazy worrying about this.
I think that is terrific that the kids are reading like that. even better that they are reading a book for a second time. Kendall is a smart girl. There is a lot going on in those Harry Potter books. I am glad that you are enjoying them.
I have thought about ordering groceries from the store but I am not sure I like people picking out my food. We have two groceries stores that will get your groceries for you and you can pick them up. They will deliver but not out here where we live. That is one bad thing about living out in the country.
It is crazy all the hoarding people are doing. We buy the large packs of things from Costco so we had all we needed before they started all this. We buy like that because we like the Kirkland brand in paper products.
That is the really hard thing not seeing the grands. We were supposed to take the kids out to lunch tomorrow but have changed our plans. I figure that the worse of this should be over in April. That is when flu season is usually over. That is what we are hoping for. The one that bothers me the most about not seeing is the baby. He is growing and changing so much. I just hope that it is over soon.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night and stay well.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I wonder what was going on. Did the police come into your building?
I would imagine that the casinos would be closed-I know they are around here. They attract crowds and all those hands on the slots machines have to be transferring germs. I know we we go to casinos I use a lot of Purell.
Fortunately I always carry hand sanitizer so I have some and I had Greg pick up a large bottle a couple of weeks ago that I can refill my small bottles with. I have actually been watching this since news came from China about it-so it has been on my radar as I just knew that it would be spreading. In the world that we live in with all the mobility you just can’t seem to keep something this contagious contained. So little by little I have been making sure we had things like tylenol and cough medicine etc. on hand. However, I did not foresee the run on toilet paper.
I think eventually everything is going to have to be shut down and I almost wish they would just do it sooner rather than later. I can’t believe that there are still going to be primaries tomorrow.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I’m glad that you liked the earrings. lol We do have to try and keep a sense of humor and a sense that we are all in this together.
I don’t particularly want other people picking out my groceries either but I think for right now this is the safest method and will keep Greg and I out of the stores. Different times call for doing things differently.
I like a lot of the paper and cleaning products from Costco. Those are the things that we get when we go there. Plus we usually stock up on meat.
I doubt if this will be better by April-I’m hoping it will be better by May. I have a hair appointment next week that I will have to cancel. I feel sorry for the hairdresser as she will probably have a lot of cancellations. But I think it’s for the best. I will have really shaggy hair and big roots but if I am home for the next several weeks who is going to see me besides Greg? And you guys know I love my hair appointments so this is making me sad-but I figure better safe than sorry.
Gail -
Hi Gail,
I heard that the virus has slowed in China. They have not had any new cases so they are starting to open stores and other places again. At least that is letting us see a light at the end of the tunnel. Ron cannot stay home. He went to Wal-Mart today to pick up some things we needed. He found alcohol there but did not look to see if they had toilet paper. So maybe people are slowing on hoarding things. If it would stop raining then I could keep Ron at home. He will go crazy if he has to stay in the house. He is driving me crazy.
They closed all the schools in St. Louis. Aliza is really disappointed. They were supposed to go to Grants Farm on Friday but now they will not get to go. I hope that they will reschedule so the kids can go. They are also are canceling all the egg hunts so if they do not change their minds we will have one here for all the kids. We will make it exciting well as exciting as we can. lol
Well that is about all from here. We are really boring here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
So far there are not any cases of the virus in our area.It has been good here. We live in a really small area though and not many people from bigger towns come down here. So we may not get it that bad here.
It is a shame that they could not tell you what was going on with the police coming and the fire alarm going off. It must not have been anything too serious are they would have made all of you leave the building. Thank God for that.
That is good that you and Critt are stocked up and do not have to go out. We have a lot of food in the freezer so do not have to go out unless we want to. Ron has picked up the things that we do need. We do not have as many empty shelves in the stores as other places do. We heard that people are stealing the sanitizers from the front of stores. There cannot be that many sheets in there because everyone uses them to wipe their carts down. I just cannot see people getting them out of the store. That is crazy.
Well that is about all from here. It is so boring nothing to do. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hey Sue!
Its the same up here. No toilet paper or paper towels. Bobby got a few paper towels at Lowe’s. Gary went to the local convenience store and was able to get half and half- no light cream. I was able to get the one ply toilet paper through BJ’s on line, not in the store.
Do you have a J’s Wholesale club in your area?
We use a lot of toilet paper too. Between me on the fluid pill, and Tillie, it is hysterical.
At least the weather has been ok. The sun has been shining up here for a few days. All schools are closed, and colleges. No restaurants are allowed to have any patrons in them- they can do take out. Amanda is now out of a job, as she is a server. Jhonny is worried because the Post Office has not given them any supplies. Heather was able to get a few hand sanitizes at Target( and had a fight with a woman while there over her taking more than one) So, she gave Jhonny one- they are the tiny ones. She got one for herself, Gary, me and Frankie ( our driver).
My neighbor brought me another half and half, as the one we got was very small, and will not last even 2 days.
I hope people start to calm down and not take so much of everything. The extra milk will just go bad, as well as the other dairy items. I can’t believe everyone will be eating only can soup and pasta???? We could only get large eggs- no jumbo. there was no butter, either. It you analyze what people are hoarding, it is a very amusing dinner menu.
i hope you got everything you need for at least a week. Maybe it will calm down when people realize the supermarkets will still be open. In some areas, they are only letting in 25 people at a time. What about the lines outside to get in? That is close quarters!
Hope you have a good day.
Adele -
Hi Colleen
Well you were right on target to get all your supplies before the you know what hit the fan! That was the best idea ever.
We were able to get more today. I have one ply toilet paper coming-not good, for Tillie. Read the post to Sue for the other stuff we were able to get today. So, we ar set for now. I can bake bread, so that is good. I am telling you, people are nuts out there. There is hardly anyone on the roads. A lot is closed. School, colleges, restaurants and bars, and some stores are closing.
I am horrified by the stock market.
I hope all your people are safe, and stay safe. Aizen was sick, so Steph is not coming over here until his cough is gone. She took him to the doctor, but they did not test him, with the guidelines of last week. They would this week!
Please stay safe.
I do not watch the masked singer. Sounds like it is a good show!
Adele -
Hey Gailster- That pair of earrings were on Facebook. Too funny! I will try to post some of the funny things I see. I have trouble saving them from Facebook to my phone….LOL
I have not seen the kids either. Nobody came for our corned beef and cabbage. Just us, so I only cooked 2 oit of the 3 pieces of meat. We have some left over for another meal….which maybe tonight….LOL
Our schools are closed. Plus the colleges, restaurants and bars, and even some stores are closing. Amanda is out of a job because she is a server. Up here, you can only get food from a restaurant, if you take it home. No more than 25 people allowed in one place at a time. They want you to tele-commute your doctor visits too. Catholic Church cancelled all Masses, and if you unlucky enough to die from the virus, only immediate family can attend the funeral. Same for weddings and baptisms. All hell done broke loose now, Miss Scarlett!
So, today i get an email saying BJ’s has stock on paper towels. I immediately order 2. I see cereal is back in stock, so I get Cocoa Pebbles for Heather, and granola for me, and Honey Oats for Gary. Go to check out….no paper towels available. Missed again. Heather came home all frazzled, and I told her not to worry….got the Pebbles for her….LOL Heather said it is nuts out there. everyone has anger issues. She almost got arrested at Target as she and another woman got into it about tiny hand sanitizes….God help us all! Heather was getting one for each of us, and the woman started on her for taking more then one. She went to see Steph and then gave one to Jhonny, as he said the Post Office is not giving them anything- no gloves either.
it is crazy. I hope it calms down in a week. At least the stock in the stores.
Attaching the pic of me and the 3 tiny hand sanitizers Heather brought home form Target.
We need to skype our grands!!
Hope Greg is not outside catching ball, and possibly using the bushes for a toilet……LOL LOL
Adele -
PS….I take lousy seflies….LOL
Adele -
Gailster……no, you are not offending anyone. In fact, I agree with you. Enzo’s sister is a nurse and she is very worried. We are scared for her. My neighbor is a fireman, and we are all afraid for his safety too.
So, my neighbor Bunny….wife of the fireman calls me this am and says she has a quart of half and half in her hand for us…God bless our friends and neighbors!! Pic attached.
Adele -
Sue and DD for toilet paper
OMG, DD, that is hysterical if people are calling 911 for toilet paper. On the other hand, what in the world s do u you do if you are having a Toilet paper emergency and you have to go????
I heard the same thing. There are still people who believe this is nto as bad as they say it is. My son thinks this is like the weather report- storm coming, storm coming, and then it is nowhere near what actually happens. So, I said this to him…….”let’s have that discussion again, later on, should you loose someone you love in this house because you did not use the proper precautions, or take it seriously.” Honestly, I think he was just so mad that he cannot go to his favorite restaurants for lunch or early dinner on his way home. (He likes to eat there, because then all his food is hot. he hates when you take it home and it is not hot, and then mushy from the packaging.) I think that visual made an impact.
Every time I put on the TV, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is on. His latest edict is he is closing the Boston Public Library, and wants everyone with an underlying condition to remain home. They will even deliver food to people who can’t go out.
I just heard a woman is getting a trial vaccine developed in DD’d neck of the woods….go DD!!!!
Has anyone noticed how pale and gray the Governor of NY has been getting? His color is looking like Gary the week he had the heart attack. I hope he is ok.
Hope you both have a good night. I bet the only stock that will go up is Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Adele -
Hey DD
I just heard two ER doctors are sick with the virus. I hope that vaccine they developed in your area is right on target, and that it works. they are also saying the protective gear needed at the hospitals is not enough and stock is getting low. We have to protect those on the front line, for God’s sake. Please stay in your apartment or at Critt’s. I would be so upset if you got sick. All of us would. You live in a huge building with many people, so you never know when you can run into bacteria. I worry about Sue being alone too but at least she is in a house with a lot less people. I hope she stays home too.
I also hope that nothing awful happened at your place when the police arrived. That is scary. Keep your door well locked. I am glad you are on the top floor!
They are closing everything up here. At every hour, another closing is mentioned. I am trying to laugh and find humor wherever I can. It is my coping mechanism. I hope you all can find one thing to laugh at each day to get you through all this awful news.
Adele -
Colleen and Gail
You guys have to skype the kids! It works and it is so much fun.
Adele -
Forgot to say….casino’s have been closed here since yesterday, I think.

Adele I was wondering about you with people in & out all the time. This is not good as someone can bring it home to you & not know as they are not sick yet. The boys should not be coming. They said kids are to stay home no play dates or anything. They said they can stay in touch with phone & video chat. All non essential places are closed here. But they are not enforcing so if people don’t listen nothing happens to them. Also he said he would not force dirt track racing to shut down. They had races Sat with thousands of spectators. That is not right all other sports were shut down.
-
Colleen, Sue, DD, Barbara, Gail , and every Quacker reading this….
Seriously, I am praying everyone will be safe. You are all in my prayers every day, and all your family and friends too. I use humor to get me through, and I hope it did not offend anyone, as I do take this very seriously.
My entire family, accept Bobby is freaked about this. Heather keeps going into random stores to buy us something to protect ourselves, and Frankie, who works for us. Today she found a set of 3 small containers of Clorox wipes for her and Frankie to wipe down their cars after each stop.
Please all stay safe. Love you guys like family!

You wanted something to laugh at. I hope I can remember. I read this on Facebook. So Trump went back in time and ask George Washington what he should do & George said always tell the truth & he could not do that. so he went to FDR 7he told him he needed a plan but he could not do that either. So He went to Lincoln & told him what the others said & ask what he should do & Lincoln said buy a couple of tickets & go to the theater.
-
Hey Sue!
Thank you so much for caring about me. the boys have nto been here. I did miss their little selves this weekend. It was very quiet….LOL
I am a little nervous about Heather and Frankie goign to see customers. So far, nobody has any symptoms of a cold. But, like you also know, it takes weeks for it to show up. I am praying nobody gets it anywhere we are- none of us, all across the land.
Wow- there are no sports here at all. that was nto a good idea. One person could have infected a hundred people.OMG….that joke is hysterical.. I am so glad you remembered it. I am going to read it to Gary and Heather!!
Love ya Suzie Q!!!
-
Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the laughs. Right now we can use all the levity we can get!
I made a mistake, restaurants are going to delivery of drive thru only. No indoor service. More & more places are closing down. We’re just short of total shutdown.
We now have 47 cases in the state.
Well, that’s all I have for now.
Dd -
Hi Colleen,
Yes, the virus is slowing in China but remember they started having cases in November so they are 4 to 5 months ahead of us in all this.
Greg is home for the next two weeks and know pretty soon he is going to start feeling restless.
I’ll bet the Easter Egg hunt will be fun for the kids.
I know after all the searching for a tailor Jenny is wondering if Milk Days might end up being cancelled. Only time will tell.
Gail -
Ha ha Sue,
Thanks for the funny. I will have to look at some other things to post.
Gail -
Sue,
What is dirt track racing? Is it car racing?
Speaking of racing I heard this morning that the Kentucky Derby is postponed until September and it usually takes place on the first Saturday in May. Jenny was born on a Derby Day. They do get huge crowds there.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
We do have to try and keep our sense of humor-laughter is medicine too. Some of the music people are posting a song every day at a certain time. I hope people will realize we are all in this together and show the love. Even if we have to show it while standing 6 feet away from each other. lol
Yes, all those people lined up for groceries can’t be good. I feel bad for the grocery store workers.
You should watch The Masked Singer it’s on Fox on Wednesday at 7 central time.
I read this morning that Brady is leaving the Patriots-is that true?
Hey, it wouldn’t be the first time that Greg used the bushes for a toilet. I know for a fact that when he’s working outdoors he will sometimes go behind the barn or a tree. it’s such an easy thing for a man to do.
I had not noticed the governor of New York looking bad but I don’t really know what he normally looks like.
I wonder if there will be lots of babies born nine months from now since people are stuck at home. I know that happens after blackouts.
We may have to learn how to skype.
I had a low fever last night. I’m hoping it’s from my post nasal drip but we are keeping an eye on it.
Gail -
Hi Gail,
I did not mean that we should not be careful and still take precautions. It is just good to hear that it is slowing down and there is hope for the rest of us. That it is not going to on and on. Sorry if I made everyone think that I am taking it lightly.
That would be a shame if they if they call off Milk Days. It took such a long time to find someone to make the dress. It would be sad for Piper. I will be praying that this will be over with soon and they will be able to have it. Maybe the will just postpone and not cancel.
One thing that I know about milk is that you can freeze it. Mom use to freeze milk in the winter because we lived so far away and could not get to her when the roads were bad. It is amazing all the things that you can freeze.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
You look good with the sanitizer. Who would have thought that we would be taking pictures of that and talking about toilet paper. It is crazy right now. Poor Heather. That is terrible that woman got so upset over that. Everyone is buying for other members of the family. Especially kids are buying for their elderly parents. How did we get to be the elderly? It does not seem possible.
My grand is doing her college classes on the internet. I think they are staying closed until April 3rd. Most of the schools are staying closed until then. They are going thru the schools and cleaning them all over this break. The kids are happy to be off for that time but they will be going late in June. They usually get out in May.
I really hope that this vaccine will work. I know they have been working on one here in St.Louis. I have not heard if they have one ready to test though. I hope that they get one of them to work.
Aliza is not happy that she cannot go to school. She wants to go and see her teacher. You can tell that she is in Pre School she is the one of the grands that is upset the rest are glad to home.
Well that is about all from here. Have been praying for all of you also. I pray that this will be over soon and everyone will fine and not so angry.
Colleen -
Hey DD!
It is getting worst up here every day. More and more things are closing. It is starting to make me nervous. A shop Heather went into yesterday, told our delivery person, Frankie, that one of the workers was being tested becasue his girlfriend is positive for the virus. heather does use the sanitizer she fought with the woman over in Target!! She doe snot use gloves. Frankie does. Going forward, she will be using gloves.
So, correct me if I am wrong……if he is positive, Heather and everyone she came in contact with will need to be tested too???? God help us. It was just a matter of time until someone ran into someone with it.Good news…….the stress test showed no blockages, and no issues. I am not signing up for the echo until all this crap is over, and I am actually still alive…..LOL
Please stay safe….have to go and de-bone the chicken and make the Matzo Balls for the soup. Ill take a pic…LOL

Adele that is why I was wondering why you did not shut down your business for a while. If for no other reason to make sure Tillie was not exposed. I would not think your business is an essential business. Most things are closed here. We now have 96 positive cases & climbing daily. It seems the most of it is in counties along the coast. None here yet but the way everyone travels it could pop up
Gail, Dirt track racing is sprint cars. It is just local Williams Grove & Port Royal but they have quite a following. Not big like a national or college event but still more people than are suppose to gather.
I had corned beef, cabbage, carrots & potatoes. I was really disappointed with the corned beef as it was at least half fat. They package it so you can’t see what you are buying. I still have veggies for a few more meals.
I did go to the post office today but there were no other customers there & the clerk & I had a big distance apart.
They said today this could go on until July or August.
Did you guys hear Lyle Waggoner has died? I always liked him.
-
Hi Adele,
That is really good news that your tests cam back ok. I would wait for the echo also. I hope that you are taking care of yourself. I can understand why you still have your business running. If your customers need the parts you have to be able to deliver. I hope that you can talk Heather into wearing gloves. She has to be careful. There are some small businesses that are still open around here. I will be praying that all your family is safe.
Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
Have any of you been watching the Irish programs on QVC? I ended up buying a few things. I bought the TSV in raspberry, ibought a necklace from Conamara Marble and a rosary. I am thinking of buying a couple of key rings for Christmas gifts. They had some really cute ones but will go back and look again. It is nice to find things like that early. It cuts out on a lot of shopping right around Christmas.
Pat was was on there and she was telling Leprechaun jokes. They were not really funny but the way she told them made them funny. I think it was because she was looking at the camera like please laugh.
Did anyone else watch? Did you buy anything? Now I am really being nosey.

I saw another cute post today on Facebook. Mel Brooks son was outside a window Mel was inside & he said that was his 93 year old father & he could not bring the virus to him because he would infect Carl Reiner & Dick Van Dyke & he would wipe out a whole generation of comics.
-
I’ll see if this will post.

Gail where can I sign up for that. Best delivery guys I have seen.
-
Sue,
Ha ha-I guess now we get toilet paper instead of the brandy from the Saint Bernards. -
Sue,
I heard that Mel Brooks and his son had some funny videos too. I haven’t seen any.
I did hear about Lyle Waggoner-I remember him from the skits on Carol Burnett.
How are things by you. I signed up for WalMart grocery pickup so we are doing that tomorrow-we’ll see if I’ll be able to get what i ordered.
They were out of paper towels and thus far we are good for toilet paper. So I am on the hunt for paper towels now.
I’m glad that you are in a building with just a couple of other tenants.
I can’t imagine being in a big high rise in a city.
Can’t believe the young folks are still partying on the beaches in the south.
They are going to end up going home and making other family members sick.
This is the regard that they have for the older generations. actual made me cry when i saw that.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I watched some of the Irish shows. I always enjoyed them-I like to listen to the Irish accents. it was sad that they had to do it all by Skype this year.
I didn’t buy anything. I think those key chains are cute-it seems like every year they add more.
I can buy new clothes or new jewelry but there’s no where to go to wear them. lol I could put on a fashion show for Greg. lol

Sue,
I get it. So dirt track is more like sprints or drag racing. Thanks-i wasn’t familiar with that term. Wonder if we will get al of GH today. it seems that’s when the Illinois governor comes on. -
Hi Adele,
I am not sure how that works if the guy in the place where Heather works tests positive. I hear that people still are having a hard time getting tested.
I’m glad that your stress test came out well. That’s always good to hear. And a big relief. I too would wait on the echo.
You know Brent is much like Bobby and doesn’t understand how serious this is.
He was supposed to go on vacation over spring break to San Antonio but had to cancel because everything is closed. So he called wanting to come here but we told him not to come as everything is closed and we are isolating ourselves-so what good would that do us if they came and went somewhere and then came back and spread germs to us. it’s really hard to tell your own kid not to come home. If he came here there would be absolutely nothing to do especially with a ten year old as he would bring his girlfriend and her son. I tried to explain to him this was serious but he just wanted to argue about it and I know he will never concede even if the other person was right(he really should have been a lawyer)lol Some people you just can’t convince.
So anyway-i feel guilty for telling him not to come even though Greg says I shouldn’t.
So I’m a bad mother.
Gail -
Hi Gail,
They stopped the kids from doing the pick orders. My sisters’s son does that and they sent them all home and will call them when they want them to come back. I am not sure if you can still do the pick up here.He does not live close to us he lives in O’fallon Mo. I do not know what is going on. You are lucky that they are still doing it there.
I think that they are doing things different in different states. I just wish this would be over with I am getting bored staying in the house. If it would stop raining we could go outside and walk around and maybe grill.
Well I wish that I knew a good joke to tell but cannot think of one. I got a question that maybe people would like to talk about. What was Easter like at home when you were kids. I know when we were little we use to get a solid chocolate rabbit. There was a chocolate company that made them and the other candy that mom and dad would buy. We always had the boiled eggs and mom and grandma would color them and mom and dad would hide them when we went to bed. We did not get gifts like they give now. We always use to get a new dress patten leather shoes a purse and a hat.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Gail, You are not a bad mother. I think men are wired different & don’t really think of the danger. I would think he would care about you not getting it. If I had his medical problems I think that would worry me also.
I know we need information but I am so tired of them taking GH off everyday. They give the update than take a bunch of questions & then the news anchor goes over everything that was said. We have Trump everyday for an hour & a half to 2 hours. Then we get Gov, Wolf & Dr. Levin every day & then the news programs & they have been having a special broadcast in the evening at 7PM. I know how serious it is but it gets to be depressing to hear it so much. It is really spreading here in PA we had 52 new cases since yesterday. I don’t think it will be over for a very long time. -
Hi Sue,
Thanks for saying that. I needed it. I worry about him too as he has underlying health problems.
I’m beginning to feel that schools will be closed past the end of their spring break.
All those young people partying in Florida just make me mad and sad at the same time. To realize that those young people have such a disregard for their fellow man. Just makes me shake my head.
There are a lot of press conferences. I know the president comes on late morning here and then the governor comes on right about at the end of GH.
We will just have to keep coming on here and trying to post stuff to lighten our moods.
Gail -
I just need to take a moment here and give thanks and high praise to all the medical personnel who are out there in the front line trenches trying to save lives and keep us safe. Thank you all and I pray for you every day. You are the best!

Hi Colleen,
I hope they don’t stop filling the WalMart orders up here. Jenny got her’s yesterday and there were a few things she could not get and they also substituted some stuff but so far it’s pretty good. We’ll see how our pickup goes today.
Well, it’s finally spring-I look forward to it each year-seeing the regrowth on the trees and things slowly starting to bloom. I will be looking at it all through fresh eyes this year. It really will be like a rebirth.
I can’t remember a lot about Easter when I was really little. I do remember getting like a chocolate bunny but don’t even remember if we got an Easter basket. I remember coloring eggs-being the youngest I probably did that the longest. Then my Dad would tape quarters to the eggs and hide them. We still do that to this day except now the quarters are dollars and the colored eggs are plastic. I remember my Mom would make egg salad from the eggs which I never really liked.
We would always get a new outfit only one of which I can distinctly remember, new shoes and a new hat-with that darn piece of elastic that went under the chin. An outfit I remember was a pink dress-it was sleeveless but it had another piece with long sleeves that you wore over the top of the dress if it was too cold for sleeveless-which it usually was at Easter. It had a pretty embroidered ribbon around the bottom of the overtop. (even back then I liked embellishments) When I wore it to church I must have had a cold and been sniffling a lot as the women in the pew in front of me very discreetly but pointedly layed some kleenex on the pew in front of me. I guess my sniffling was bothering her. Of course this made my brother and sister crack up. lol
I guess that woman was wishing for some “social distancing” from me.
Who knows if we will even be able see the kids for Easter in person this year. There might still be quarenteens going on.
What I miss most right now is Fridays at Jenny’s and going to restaurants.

Checked up on Adele because we hadn’t heard from her for awhile. she will try and write this afternoon. They are all healthy she just had some issues with someone trying to get into her credit card. Said she will try and write later.

Hey Colleen
I bet Aizen is sad too. He loves school his friends, and his teacher. The poor kids’ entire lives are all upside down, and they can’t even go to the places they go to when on vacation. I bet a lot of parents bought the Disney channel. Please read the post to Gail, as all info is in there.
They just announced we lost our first person to the virus- he was in his 80’s. Very sad.
We will have to skype the kids. I have nto done it yet- been to crazy for me. Check how my account got ” taken over” and I had to put a fraud alert on all credit reporting bureaus. Took all afternoon yesterday,. Big mess! the credit card was mailed to my home (thank God) with the new name on it.
Hope you and Ron are safe, and stay safe!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I don’t see any post to me. -
Hey Sue!
I did hear Lyle died. Very sad. Seems everyone we loved is leaving this earth.
I have been going back and forth on the business. Our business is very small, and we seem to be everyone’s banker. We get a lot of…pay you next week, and get a bounced check from one customer or another, about every two weeks. We deal with shops where they have a lot of people who do nto speak good English, and do not have college degrees, so they fly by the seat of their pants, so to speak. This all means that we live week to week with the business. If we do not get to collect from last week’s deliveries, we cannot pay the warehouse on Friday, or the other vendors at the end of the month, and we will be out of business in one week. Also, our delivery person does not want to be laid off, or lose his car or phone. We own his car and phone- it is a perk for working for us. He does not have a car of his own, and if I take back the company car ( which I would as I would take it off the road) he would have no way to drive his girlfriend to work, or go shopping, and he would have no phone, as that would be turned in too. I woudl not be bale to pay for them if there is no revenue coming in.
So, it is kind of out of necessity we have to deliver to the customers, and keep Frankie employed. I do feel awful about it. I wish the business had enough to pay him for a month, and pay all the vendors for a month. Unfortunately , it does not. ( at any given time at least half the customers owe us money. It is the nature of this line of business, according to my husband. he has been going through this all of his career) I think a lot of very small businesses are in the same place as we are- if they don’t service the customers, they have no income. It sucks. We do have gloves, and sanitizers, and Clorox Wipes for Frankie. We even got a notice from the warehouse saying all deliveries will be brought out to the vehicles, as they do not want anyone in the warehouse. We were also told vehicle repair businesses are exempt, and considered essential. So, I have no idea what will happen this week. We have people wanting sanitizers, and I cannot even get them sent out from a company in the Western part of the state. I had one customer want my to overnight it, and the charge was so bad they changed their mind- 85.00 for overnight shipping.
God help us all.
Hope you are ok!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
It is nuts out there. I am glad I got the good news. Just spoke to my rheumatologist y phone for my appointment today. She said my uric acid has been climbing, and wants to start a med for it. But you need to be monitored on tat, so we have to wait until all this is over. She is so sweet. I love her,. She has one of the best bedside manners you ever ran into. I want Heather to go to her too.I hope you are all ok in your neck of the woods. Stay safe. So, up here there is no chicken, toilet paper, or tomato soup. What are people doing with tomato soup???

Hey Gailster
I ahve not seen the boys, and they live in the same Town. So, don’t be guilty about it. We all have to do the best we can to try to stay safe. So, we are not even doing take out. I am making a meatloaf tonight. Go figure. I am dying for a roast beef sandwich….LOL My neighbor is going for one tonight. I will see what she says about the place, as we all go there. It is a small eat in, or take out place. No eat in right now….LOL
Brent will understand, especially when he sees more people getting sick. We had our first death in Mass. Very sad. Hey…The blacklist is on tonight. Ill be watching that! Love that show. Oh, I loved the movie about Elton John- Rocketman. It’s free up here now on cable.
Hope you have a good weekend. Sooooo, Gary fixes our storage closet and comes out and says- “we do nto have as much tp as I thought, because what I thought was tp, was paper towels”. before I cook, I better try again to get some.
Adele -
Hey Sue
We are the same up here. Every time I try to put Ellen on, its the governor or Mayor of Boston. We cannot even amuse ourselves with comedy. Please stay safe down there.
Adele -
Hi Everyone,
Well Illinois is officially shut sown until I think April 6th. Starting tomorrow at 5 P. M.
That means that Jenny won’t be working and Greg’s business will be closed. Darn and they just had someone that wanted them to do hand sanitizers again too. I hope and pray they will be able to open after that time.
Personally, I wish the president would shut down everybody at the same time-if these shutdowns are staggered it will just draw this out longer.
I think Jenny’s ex will still be working as he works in the plant at Dean’s Foods and I would imagine anything to do with food will remain open.
I think even if NM shuts down Brent might be okay as his plant drys milk for baby formula.
Greg’s business partner was halfway to Illinois today to come in and clear out a house that they sold and when he heard about the shutdown he turned around and decided to head back to Idaho.
We did our first WalMart pick up today. I couldn’t get a ham or ground beef-go figure. We will just have to try again next week.
It isn’t like if you are shopping on your own you can make substitutions on the fly. But it is better than having to go inside the store.
I am already tired from unpacking and then washing down the counters.
My SIL is still in Florida and they were planning on coming back the beginning of April. They would be driving because they have a dog with them.
Our friends are in New Zealand until the beginning of April too-I wonder how they are weathering things there.
I still am shaking my head in disbelief that this is happening-i never would have imagined it. I used to love dystopian novels and TV programs about what happens after something catastrophic happens on earth but that was always fiction and now it’s real life.
Greg and I have been trying to keep the levity going but sometimes I do get sad. I will never take my “normal” life for granted again.
Now I need to go find something funny to post next time.

Gail I agree I don’t know why some States can remain open & others not. They have said in PA all non life sustaining businesses must shut down & it is going to be enforced. It is spreading so fast that people need to stay home & quit passing it on. Even people with no symptoms can pass it to someone else. I think the government is helping small businesses. They are to be sending checks out $1000 per adult & $500 per child. Only I guess we seniors on SS won’t get it. Don’t they think we need help too. We had 83 new cases overnight. It is skyrocketing here & they say it will get worse before it gets better.
It is good you have a place to pick up groceries. We don’t our stores offer it in some places but not here. They said they are offering the first hour for just seniors to shop while the store is the cleanest. I just don’t feel like going out in the dark at 6AM to shop for groceries. We get no restaurant deliveries here either. Need to go get it & then it is cold till you get home. Pretty soon I won’t be able to buy from the grocery store as they have increased prices on what you can get. I have points so I wonder if I will be able to get my free ham. -

I forgot we have had 1 death here. But it was so sad hearing about the 43 year old lady that died. She was a single mother of 6 & had beat cancer only to die from this. I think it was in Washington state.
-
Hey Gailster…ditto
God bless all our first responders, nurses, doctors, fireman, and police. What would we do without them???
God, please keep them safe and all my Quacker friends, and their friends and relatives!
Amen
Adele -
Hey Colleen, Gail, and everyone!
I remember wearing my Easter finest, which induced a coat to match the dress, patent leather shoes, and a little pocketbook to carry my First Communion Missal, and rosary beads. A hat was always included in the outfit….LOL
I don’t remember much about the Easter basket, accept all the grass that got everywhere. I do remember the Easter dinners at Nonna’s. Late in the afternoon, my Great-Uncles would also visit my Nonna, and the talk and laughter continued well into the night Also recall going out with my friends for an Easter stroll around the corner to the Madonna Shrine. We were all in the May parade the Madonna held in honor of the Blessed Mother- we were all dressed in blue as a living moving Rosary. It was an honor to be in the parade. All our relatives went to see it, and then I think there was a huge Mass at the Madonna too…a little fuzzy n that one….LOL
Good times. Safe times, Family times. The 50’s were good to us. In the 60’s the CYO dances were far more interesting than the Madonna Shrine….LOL
Adele -
Thank you Gailster, for telling everyone I am ok.
Adele -
OMG Gail…where did the post go???
So, I was telling everyone what happened with my credit card for Coldwater Creek. It is a card I have not used in a long time. I got another card for them in the mail, with a different first name. Also had a different number. So, I called the number on the back of my credit card for my original card. Come to find out, a thief called in to ask for a new card for an authorized user, saying it was me, and it was for my daughter then they changed my phone number on the card too!
The credit card company was great. They closed my account, will send me a new card, and we added a security code that has to be said every time I call in, if I ever do!
After that, I had to call the security company that monitors my credit……given to me by Macy’s over the holidays because my Macy;s card was compromised with Macy’s. I asked them why they did nto pick that up, and they said because the thieves are sneaky- that was considered an “account takeover”, which would not show up , as it was a request for an additional card. So, they suggested I do a fraud alert to all the credit bureaus, which I then did. So,if anyone tries to check my credit, they cannot. When i turn in the Jeep in May, I will have to take the fraud alert off, and they will put it back in 15 minutes.
I cannot believe this happened, as I am extremely careful what I do on line, and usually only purchase with my Pay Pal account. I have not used that card in years, at least since I retired. So, people, I am so stressed between the take over and virus. God help me! This too shall pass. I am just grateful they were nto bale to get the card mailed to a different address. Oh, i am getting all the credit reports from all 3 agencies so they can be checked too.
Hope everyone has a good night!
Adele -
GAilster
I am so sorry for you and Greg.
It may happen here as this am Amanda called everyone freaking out because a friend of theirs was deployed to the National Guard, and he called them saying the state will shut down on Monday. She went food shopping and wanted us to get anything else we needed.
Then in the pm, the Governor was on, and said rumors of a shut down are nto true. So, go figure??? I will not be surprised if we do get shut down.
Please stay safe everyone.
Mass has a hot line to call if you are stressed by all of this. They said they expect suicide to spike. God help everyone.
Adele -
Hey Sue
I am so sorry you do not have any grocers that deliver. I did not even know we had that, until all this happened.I knew we had Peapod from Stop and Shop. I wish I could send you groceries, so you would not have to go out. They are also doing the first hours for seniors here too. Gary wants to go tomorrow to get milk, eggs, and produce. We are running out of eggs. I have not heard there are no eggs left up here right now. In our area, we are out of all paper products, tomato soup, and water. I am still wanting to know what the run on tomato soup is????
I just hope we can get the things we need. I have totally given up on toilet paper. You should see the prices on Amazon, for acrylic toilet paper. Yes, acrylic toilet paper! Imagine????
Hope you have a good night. Please stay safe.

Adele just a guess but maybe the tomato soup is because kids are not in school & most of them like grilled cheese & tomato soup. Would be a good lunch for them. Someone posted today they were getting eggs for their Mother & the large were 5.99 & extra large were 3.99 so she said her mother was getting extra large. Yeah we have no options they won’t get our order ready for us to pick up either for groceries. I am pretty well stocked but still need TP & a couple of other things so I will wait a bit & hope they get some in.
-
Hello Ladies,
I love the dogs with the toilet paper. The stores that have toilet paper around here only put so much out everyday so everyone has a chance to get some. It is really a good thing. A lot of stores around here have an hour that the store is open for just the elderly. I guess that is us but it sure does not seem like it.
I talked to Aliza and she is mad at her mom because she will not let her got to Pretty school. That is what she calls pre school. That is the first time I have heard someone call it pretty school. We have tried to tell her the right name but it is pretty school to her and that is that.
The new question I have for today is what is the first thing that you are going to do when we can go out of the house safely? I am going to go and see my great grandson and spend some time with him. I will be so glad to see him.
Adele that is terrible about your credit card. You are lucky that they sent the card to you and not to another address. It is terrible that this is the second time that this has happened to you. I am glad that you found a way to take care of it.
There is not a lot going on here. It is really getting boring. I am ready to go to bed and call it a night. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I wrote a post earlier but it didn’t go through or I lost it.
Anyway, I ‘ve been on a self imposed “shelter in place all week. I finally got out today. We’ve had such beautiful weather this week! I had to go to the store for essentials. It was in the 60s with beautiful clear skies. I hope you’re having sunny days it’s very uplifting! Oh, Happy SPRING!!!💐🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🏵🏵🏵💐💐💐🌼🌼🌼
Those puppies with the tp is soooo cute!! They can deliver it to me any time! Lol.
I can’t remember what I wrote earlier, so I’ll close for now.
Take care & stay safe!!
Dd -
Hey Sue….I just got up….LOL I was watching that show lucky Dog in bed. I love that show, as I always wanted a dog and never able to have one.
You could be right on the tomato soup. So, bobby came home form work this am, he stopped at a supermarket we never go to- still no TP, but he got milk and the bread we like- Peppereridge Farm. We will try later today, or early tomorrow am to get the rest we need. I am goign to get veggies that last a long time, if we can- squashes. then I will need some can veggies for Gary as he would never eat those….LOL
The Atty General up here did a law saying it was illegal to price gouge in Mass. Imagine??? She was real pissed on TV about it.
Did I tell you about the acrylic toilet paper on Amazon for an unbelievable price? Seriously???? Acrylic??? What is this country coming to?
Bobby said if he has to, he will call one of his friends who is a manager at a local supermarket and ask for a tp to be set aside for us. We have 5 people who use the bathroom. Dam. We have about a week of tp left, so by the end of next week, we will be having a tp emergency….LOL Either that, or we will all e going to McDonalds to pee and poop…..LOL
Adele -
Hey Colleen
Well that it one of the cutest things I have heard all day. Pretty school. How cute is that! I told Heather and she thought it was ballet school….LOL
the first thing I will do is go see Marissa and Enzo’s new apartment.n She has been sending me pics of the baby. he will nto know us when this is over.
Just got the news 112 more cases in Mass as of today. They give you the new number every day at 4:00 pm. Then I google it to see how close they are getting to Saugus. Yes, ladies, my mental status is going to critical level….
I am convinced the breach came from the breach at Macy’s in November. It had to be.
So, I watched TV until about 1:00 am last night, then went to bed and watched a tiny bit more, and went to sleep.
How is Ron doing with all this??
So, tonight we are having leftover soup and leftover meatloaf….LOL
Adele Stay safe!! -
Hey DD
Just curious- were you able to get tp?? Were you able to get everything you are out of and need?
Bobby stopped at a different supermarket on his way home, still no luck. No cream for coffee, but he did get bread and English muffins. We will see what he is able to get tomorrow. We are so low on eggs, I cannot bake if I wanted to!
Hope you enjoyed your walk outside. I think it is good you have been inside, and not out in public, so you are staying safe.
Maybe we should watch Outbreak, so we can sufficiently scare ourselves to death! (trying to keep my sense of humor)
Heard we could have snow on Monday. Ill need eggs to bake cookies, if it snows….LOL
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I have not been listening to the news and how many new cases there are. It is just too depressing to listen to. so I just know that it is still going on and will be until it runs it’s course. We are able to get food. We got eggs today and potatoes so we are set now. They are stocking the stores and limiting the amount of things people can buy. It is sad that they have to control things like that but people are just going crazy.
Ron is still going out. His cousin died Thursday so he will got to the funeral. I will stay home because I have this stupid cold. It is better and the doctor thinks that is more allergies then anything else. We talked over the phone they are not wanting people to come onto the office unless it is really important. I do not have the virus I know that I do not have any off the symptoms. I will stay home though.
It is such a pain with all this stuff going on. If people do not work then we will have more of it. They will try to get money any way that they can.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
Well Ron is lucky where you live, ( not lucky his brother died)because there are no funerals happening here. A simple grave side service, with only immediate family allowed. No Mass, no weddings, no Baptism, etc. Church open only for people to go in to pray.I am very sorry Ron’s brother died. Had he been ill? Death is never easy, whether you know it is coming, or not. Please extend my condolences to you and your family. How old was he?
I try not to watch the news, and then I get a call saying to “turn it on quick”. At 4:00 pm every day, we get the new totals for Mass. We had another death yesterday.
So, Bobby is starting to freak out. All the Starbucks up here closed, and he goes there every am for his coffee and breakfast sandwich. He could not go to his favorite breakfast restaurant either, and you know how he is about his food….LOL
So, Bobby did get light cream this am. We were thrilled. He got the last one in the case. He paid 9.00 for blueberries, so I got only one container, as that pissed him off. I wanted to make that cake everyone loved, So, there may not be as many blueberries in the cake….LOL
He was able to find chicken, so he got some to make chicken cutlets today, with his world famous rice. (he said we need to save the meats I got, as he is now getting concerned. He does not think I got enough for all of us to eat for a month) He makes a fabulous rice pilaf, with lots of cheese, and parsley. He was able to get the eggs we needed- 3 dozen. We use 14 eggs a week just for me and Gary at breakfast time. We each have a hard oiled egg daily. We were also lucky with the cahoots and celery, as I will make beef stew and chicken soup again- those feed us all for 2 nights, with each dish- giving us 4 meals. I’m attaching a pic of my chicken soup with the matzo balls- I cut them in half before I put them into the bowls…LOL
What are you making lately to stretch the meals???
So, I suggested we watch Outbreak, so we can really get freaked out today….LOL
Hope your Sunday is going well. Marissa stopped by to say hi on her way from the supermarket- no baby, of course.
Adele -
Does anyone know why Angel is doing all these Facebook shows from home? Is she social distancing and staying away from the studio.
-
Here’s one.
-
AnonymousInactiveMarch 22, 2020 at 9:13 pmPost count: 643
QVC2 is only showing pre recorded shows to reduce the number or people in the building. So Angel is doing shows from her home. I think I heard them say today that there would be no on air guests.
-
Hi Adele,
Your soup looks really good. You are tempting me to fix some. I will not make motza balls. I have to make a lot of things that I have not made in a long time.
It was Ron’s cousin that died. Ron does not have a brother.Just the immediate family could go the the funeral home but any one could go to the grave site. Ron did not go which really made me happy. It was raining here all day and he did not need to be outside in the rain. I do not think that very many people went to the graveside either.
We can go to any restaurant but cannot eat there. They will fix your meal to go so that is nice. I am not sure what the right thing to do is anymore. Ron will not get food from anywhere but the grocery store and nothing already cooked.
We do not eat much here. There is only the two of us here. We do not make big meals only when the kids come over to eat with us. I am just hoping this is all over with by Easter and we can have our big dinner then.
I like the pictures that Gail is posting. I love the shopping cart for all the hoarding. That is so funny. The dogs with the toilet paper collars is really cute also. I am glad that they are doing things to make s laugh.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Oh thanks Sue. I did not know that Q2 was doing no more live shows at all. Do you mean no more live guests on the regular Q? That makes sense.
-
Hi Ladies,
QF is on today 2:00 pm ET! Yes, they have cut back on the guests on the shows. A lot of the guests call in to talk about the products. Q2 runs previously recorded shows. They have skeleton crews too.
I’m already in a self imposed shelter in place for the time being. Getting bored though.
The rain is back this week, snow in the mts.
Talk more later
Dd -
Hi Colleen,
I was sorry to hear about Ron’s cousin. I’m glad he didn’t go to the funeral though. The more we stay away from people the better right now.
My hairdresser called on Saturday but of course I already knew she would be closing. She said she was going to stay open but found out she could lose her license and receive a stiff fine so she decided not to. I’m glad. There was a reason that the governor shut things down. I would have cancelled my appointment anyway. No one is going to see me anyway as we are staying home. I just pray by the time of my next appointment in early May that I can go. She said other’s were trying to reschedule right away and so she was asking some clients if they would wait. I’m vain but not that bad. lol I don’t really consider getting your hair done social distancing.
I kind of doubt that things will be back to normal by Easter. However, businesses do have to get back to work within a reasonable time or the whole economy will collapse.
The dentist just called and cancelled Greg’s appointment for April 3rd. They will call back when they know when they can reopen.
It’s interesting when you think that this time will be in future history books.
I hope the federal government will finally make a decision on getting the necessary medical equipment made and distributed. I feel so bad for all medical personnel.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I watch the Today show from 7 to 9 in the morning and then shut it off unless there is a briefing by the pres or the Gov. I found that I was getting overloaded on too much info and speculation and it was totally stressing me out.
I found out that Jenny is still working as she works at an appliance store and that is considered an essential-although business is slow because people don’t have money to buy so there’s always the chance that she could get layed off. Her ex will work because he works for Dean’s foods so she would still get her child support. Speaking of Adam- he texted Greg yesterday and offered to pick up anything we needed if necessary. I thought that was very sweet of him.
It snowed here last night. We got a few inches.
It’s interesting doing the online shopping because they are out of a lot of things. Now if you were there yourself you know you could kind of change your menu on the fly and get other things. But they are working strictly off your order so you either get stuff or you don’t. I was planning on making a ham and a lasagna and then we would have ham for lunches or even ham and eggs for dinner. And a lasagna lasts us a long time so we will have that for lunches. Well I couldn’t get ham and I couldn’t get ground beef. Fortunately I have a couple of pounds of ground beef in the freezer so I will get to make the lasagna. However the only noodles they had were those ones that you don’t boil so I have no idea how that will work out. We picked up on Friday so I hope we have enough stuff until the middle of next week and then we will try again and see what we can get. I think if I can’t get meat or chicken again I will go to our local slaughterhouse place and see what I can get there as they have a little butcher shop there. I used to get most of my meat there but then when we started going to Costco I stopped for the most part.
I did get Greg the ingredients to make bacon buns so if he gets really bored he can make those.
Greg did download skype this morning so maybe we will see the kids sometime.
Stay safe everyone.
Hugs to all,
Gail -
Oooops-I forgot I wanted to post a picture.
-
LOL
dd -
Hey Gailster
I have no idea why she is doing the hows form home. I hope she is not positive for the virus. hope she is just being extra cautious.
Adele -
Hey Sue
i am watching it now, to see something that is not interrupted by “breaking news”. She just said no hosts in the building, but the show was still live. She is very low key. Not very interesting. I like the new bell sleeve shirt, but do not want to get anything right now.
Everything is so different even on TV. I hate the new pandemic shows on instead of the Today show.
Hope your day is going ok. Our governor closed the state today, accpet for essentials. Unfortunately, our business is essential. Not sure for how long.
Stay safe!
Adele -
A restaurant in Des Plains Illinois is actually doing this and their sales have increased.
-
Gailster….can I get the free roll with a delivery here???? LOL LOL
I love the grocery cart- very funny.
So, at the present moment it is snowing. I do not think it will stick as it has been too warm. We are getting a storm into tomorrow, and it will probably turn to rain sooner or later.
I have the Ellen show on. Alec Baldwin is hosting. I need the laughs!! Last night we watched an older movie that was real cute. it had the actress who was in Grey’s Anatomy – the one who played the blond who fell in love with the cancer patient, and he died. OMG, I can’t remember her name! It was a movie about a couple who died in a car crash, and left two single friends of theirs custody of their baby.Colleen
Ron is being very cautious, and that is good right now. Soup is a great thing to fix as you get at least 2 meals out of it, and if any is left over it freezes great!
I am yelling at everyone here that we cannot waste food right now- everything has to be eaten before it goes bad.
So, Marissa is making my recipe for American chop Suey, and came to steal my tube of Harissa sauce- no baby of course.
It wild be real easy if we had only 2 people to cook for over her. I would do breakfast for dinner a few times a week…..bacon and eggs, and waffles with bacon… LOL
Hope you are ok, and all stays good.
Adele -
Hey DD!!
I hope you are safe and sound out there. Have you seen Critt?
I watched some of the show today. i turned it on after I saw it on Sue’s post. I like the shirt with the bell sleeves. I may get one for Tillie for her birthday and Mothers Day.
I am attaching pics of the snow today- just started a few hours ago. I told Marissa to let baby see it, She said no- she does not like the snow….LOL
What have you been watching on TV? I am tkaing a survey….LOL
So, we are up from 5 to 9 deaths in Mass today. God help us all.
Hope you have a good night.
Adele -
Katherine Heigl
-
Unfortunately no deliveries to Mass. Maybe one of your local restaurants will think of doing that. The guy is certainly an entrepreneur.
-
Hey Gailster
Love Jake from State Farm…LOL
We do not have any slaughterhouses around here…unless you want to count the area of South Boston where Whitey Bulger lived….. …God forgive me for that joke. My humor is very weird right now, and may offend people.
So, what are bacon buns??? Go Greg! Gary can barely boil water. He is able to toast bagels….LOL
I try to watch things to amuse myself. QVC did nto amuse me today. Not a very “Quacker Factory” host today. I know they are trying, but we need the jokes and stories right now, Did you get anything? Thinking of getting Tillie the bell sleeve shirt.
That was so sweet of Adam. What a nice guy. It is always good when after a divorce, you still care for your in-laws, especially in tough times. Speaks to his character. I am big on character.
So, Bobby who was totally not believing what was happening, has turned around and very concerned. he called us before we had heard the governor closed the state as of tomorrow.
I also wish TV would have more shows on to amuse us. Did you realize Hallmark has been showing Christmas movies all weekend??
You will like the skype The kids will get a kick out of you doing it.
Heather went to a Dollar Store and came back with several kinds of Oreos. Gary is thrilled, as I never buy those for him.
Hope you can find the meats you need. It is not easy out there.
Have a good night!

Adele QVC main channel is live QVC2 is not. It is to be only the host no guest. I heard Angel called in on the phone. Very few models. Dark haired Maria is working as a cashier at Giant She is so nice & pretty. But I am sure she needs something to pay the bills. She said she cleans her hands & the register buttons after each customer.
They extended school closings & stay at home at least 2 more weeks & may be extended further. I fully expect it will be. I need to go out again & look for TP & they did say today That D is also a symptom of the virus.
We had snow today but it turned over to rain so it is gone. Please keep that baby inside. I worry with mommy still running all over she could bring it home to him. Their little lungs are not as fully developed as adults. A baby in South Carolina has it.Gail I heard your Gov. was very angry with Trump not sending what is needed. The Red Cross has hospital ships off the coasts now. I bet they are amazing. Not now but sometime when everything is good I would love to see one of those. I could use a delivery with TP too. I will find some one of these days. I thought I was out of tissues too but found a box as it was not where I usually put them. I have enough food for a while.
You know I would love to get a delivery of anything. Only thing I can get delivered is Schwans & they are expensive & charge a delivery unless you preorder$50 or more. Being alone sometimes I just need a few things. I was hoping Giant had where you send your order & then pick it up but it is not available in our area.
-
OMG Gailster….it is Katherine Heigl! LOL

I forgot to say our weathermen are working from home. It is strange seeing them at a computer at home.
-
Gail and all……
Amanda said she already got a notice her restaurant may go out of business. Imagine?
Adele -
Hey Sue!
Oh…it was QVC 2.
I bet it will be extended up here too. I am sure of it. Our state was closed today, and I was nto surprised at all.
We have the same issue with deliveries- you have to order a certain amount. It is easier for me, as we are feeding 5 people.
I know what you mean about Marissa. She is the food shopper, unfortunately. Enzo is still working, as he repairs garage doors- a lot at the airport as they break them. So he is essential too. Marissa does take precautions. I say a prayer every time she goes out for food. These are scary times. We need to pray for everyone- especially you and DD! You are both alone getting your supplies. We all live month to month on our pay and you just cannot spend everything in just one area. At least I have help with the people here, so I can do a delivery that ends up free. I am thankful for that.
Have you seen the movies on Hallmark????
I found some tp on the Staples site. If you have one of those in your area, I think you can order for a pick up at the store- please check at it will make your life easier. You can do the same at Lowes and Home Depot. Just keep checking at different times of the day for stock.
I hope you have a good night. e safe…the snow stopped here to – it is rain now.
Adele -
Sue- same here- you here the echo in their voice. Weird!

Adele I know you were not speaking to me but I find it awful to be showing Christmas movies. It is bad that they start in July but now this. It just proves Christmas is not about Christmas anymore. It is to be Easter soon not Christmas. I suppose we won’t have anything to watch on TV for some time as everything stopped production & there will be no summer games. Don’t know why they can’t run old movies that are not Christmas.
-
Hey Sue
We were hysterical when we saw them on. I figured they made some management decision they needed to calm people down and I guess only Christmas movies do that????
I would love some Easter movies, or Springtime ones.
Gary did watch some….LOL God help him, he loves their holiday movies.
I, on the other hand, put on Outbreak…LOL A glutton for punishment, I guess,.
Have a good night. I hope there is something good on TV tonight.
Stay safe, and warm…. cold out there tonight.
Adele -
It is really getting crazier and crazier here. we have an order to pick up at Kroger tomorrow, but will not know until we get there what we recieved and what is not even available. We do already know there will be no milk, juice, toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, and we need all those things, It said online they are out of stock indefinitely. Are you all having the same trouble? I looked at Jerry today and said I didn’t ever think I would see something like this in our lifetime. It is like we have gone from our life to an alien planet, and every day something else is happening. I am grateful to God to be feeling better. I have times that I am just exhausted, and since we don’t think I need to be around people, Jerry is still going in the store, if it is something I can’t buy online. I am so grateful to have him to do this. It is so strange to ride around and not hardly see any place open for business. the drive though window is still open at some restaurants but not all here. And the lines at the ones open are so long. People here just don’t know what to do. Jerry even said he was almost afraid to eat anything from a drive through, since you don’t know who prepared it and how safe they were. Freaked me out so we came home one day and thawed out 4 chicken legs and cooked them with just a salad and canned corn.
the cardiologist nurse called me a few days ago to check on me. She said they are not doing any elective procedures not; so if I were to have any pain or problems I would need to call an ambulance and go to the hospital. She also said they are not doing any appointments in their office and set me up for the end of May to see me if they were at that time. She is to call and update me. She said they have cancelled all test too. Can you imagine? Is it like this for you all? Our state hasn’t been shut down yet, but I am not sure if it will be. I don’t relly understand how some states do one thing and others something else. But I pray this all will end soon with a cure. And I pray you all and yours are doing well.
Neal and family are still supposed to be coming soon but don’t ask me how this is going to happen. There is no way I would make that cross country move right now. But Neal and her are determined, so we think the less we say the better. It is breaking our hearts. we are so worried about them all. Joey and Lisa are still working but both are staying away from us. Joey still comes by and I stay away (this is so hard) He helps lift heavy things for Jerry, and brings by little things to us. He said he missed us so much. Our son in Nevada called. He said Las vegas is like a ghost town. I know they shut down all the casinos close by here. There are so many people out of work.
better go for now. Please take care everyone. You are in my heart and prayers. Barbara -
Sue,
Our Governor Pritchker has not been happy with Trump since the get go. And he has not been shy about saying so although he never actually says his name.
You know I think maybe Hallmark’s thinking is that people usually like the Christmas season and it gives them joy so maybe hey are just trying to lighten the load a little bit and have people think of something joyful. Just my thoughts. I guess people can choose to watch them or not. I personally am not ready for them yet again but if people like them and it makes them happy they should watch.
It actually makes me laugh that Gary, the Jewish guy, loves the Hallmark Christmas movies.
I hope you can find your needed supplies soon. I heard on our local news this morning that some company has these end rolls of toilet paper that they usually throw away is giving them away. It’s a city around this area. I didn’t hear the full report because Greg was talking to me.
I read of a parent mailing toilet paper to their kid in another state. lol
Gail -
Hi Barbara,
It’s good to hear that you are doing better. It really is troubling times. We are just taking it one day at a time. It’s good that Joey and Lisa are staying away but nice to know that they are there if you need them.
At least at WalMart when you shop their pickup they send you an email saying what they have substituted and what you can’t get. So you know ahead of time what you will end up with.
I heard a doctor talk about the take out food. He said you want to get rid of the packaging that the food is in. That you could microwave your food for thirty seconds to kill germs but in general it shouldn’t be on warm food anyway. But make sure you wash your hands after you get rid of the packaging and before you eat. My hands are getting chapped from all the washing. I’ve had to use that first aide beauty cream from the Q to help them out.
Neal and Sarah will be going through a lot of open country on their trip so they should be pretty safe.
It’s ironic that right now gas is so cheap but there’s no place to go. I think Greg and I may take to just going for a drive to get out of the house. I never would have thought that the high point of my week would be driving to the next town to pick up groceries.
Hang in there everyone and continue to pray.
Gail -
HI Adele,
It’s funny how Bobby did a turn around. I wonder if Brent will? I think I saw today that NM is now closed down too but I think his business may be essential as they do stuff for baby formula.
I don’t know how to explain the slaughterhouse. It’s a very tiny place. They package meat and they also have a small store in the front where they sell fresh meat. The meat is excellent and the prices are good. I guess it’s the kind of place that you would only find in a small rural area.
I did buy a pair of my favorite pedal pushers in the new color olive. That was about it. Kerstin is one of the few hosts I really don’t care for. She is the host that changed into every bathing suit during a bathing suit show. Totally unnecessary as they have models for that. She’s one that likes to look at herself in the monitors.
Bacon buns are a Lithuanian food. It’s a yeast bread dough stuffed with a combo of sausage, or ground up ham and bacon and onions. Shaped into the size of a small bun. They are delicious!
So last night I made lasagna as that would account for a dinner and several lunches. However, the only noodles I could get were those no boil noodles that look like cardboard. Also(I don’t make my own gravy/sauce, Adele-I’m Polish for goodness sake) and they didn’t have my favorite sauce so they substituted and I didn’t like the smell of it when I was cooking so thought I would hate the whole thing. Plus they gave me twice as much ricotta as I needed so I used almost all of that too. So it was a different lasagna than I usually make and not my favorite but we will eat it because it is here. lol
Today I am making a pork roast, sweet potatoes and fresh cauliflower. How I wish it was summer now and we had garden vegetables.
We watch The Voice and American Idol and I am wondering what will happen when they get to the point in the shows where they have the live shows and people are supposed to vote from home. I haven’t seen anything about it yet but those times are getting close.
Gail -
forgot some more photos.

Good news ladies I found toilet paper. It was limited to 2 packs. He was putting out really small rolls of an off brand & I looked down the aisle & there were a few packs of Angel Soft so I got 2 packs of that. Six rolls in the pack but double rolls so I should be good for a while. Picked up some other things too. I got butter, milk & Easter candy (Adele made me do it). They had the shopping carts inside & wipes to wipe them down. However I was very upset at an Amish woman as she leaned right in front of me to get what she wanted just could not wait a minute. So much for social distancing but then I knew they would not pay any attention. They were out in there buggies on Sunday. There was very little traffic except for them. They always gather for church, then have their meal together & then visit with others. It is a huge group too. So I really hope none of them get it or it will really spread.
I know I don’t have to watch the Christmas movies now but I just wish it was not all the time as right now there is not much to watch. I know what you mean about the live shows. They are wondering what will happen to the Survivor finale. I do watch that.

Hi Barbara
it is the same for all of us. I said to everyone here that we are at war, with an enemy we cannot see, and cannot destroy. We are all powerless to defend ourselves, and it is making us all nuts. I am so cranky and nasty, I cannot tell you!I get a daily picture of Sonny from Marissa. He is so much bigger than when we saw him, and he will not remember us. I sent a pic of myself to Marissa today to show the baby….LOL
My heart breaks for your son and his family travelling across this country. I am like you. I would be a wreck until they get there, and 14 days later to make sure they did not bring anything with them. We will all add prayers for that trip!
II am attaching a post form Facebook that made me laugh so hard my belly hurt. Also attaching a few pics of my beef stew. I saw another post on Facebook that said we will all either be great cooks or alcoholics when this is all done.
I am so glad you are feeling better. Please try not to get too stressed out, as your heart is healing, and we all want you to get better, not worst. We all fee like our grandparents did in the Great Depression. I fear we will all become hoarders when this is done!
At least the sun was shining here today. That was a nice thing to see.
That is wonderful that Jerry can still get out and do some errands for both of you. i known you have him well versed in the safety precautions while he is out- way better than us!
Please stay safe. I hope you can enjoy your visit form Colin before they leave. Take lots of pictures!!
Adele -
OMG Gailster!
that was funny about the lasagna. Too bad you used all the ricotta. It is great with a little sugar mixed in, or without any, for a snack. It has a kind of sweet taste anyway. Someones I will have a cup of it for a snack. It is yummy all by itself.
So,how did the lasagna come out, with the weirdo noodles???? I have never used those. We are all forced to use stuff we would never eat!
I heard that Las Vegas is like a ghost town. Imagine that???? So, is Brent coming around? Bobby was in a foul mood today. I even told him my beef stew was too good for him to try. Imagine, he called up from downstairs to ask what I was making, and he said…is it beef stew, or beef soup? I swore at him. He likes his beef stew thick and I like my tasty….LOL When he ate it he complained that I used a whole can of Kitchen ready tomatoes. Too bad. I like tomatoes. So, mine is a but reddish, with lots of freaking flavor!! LOL It is all gone- only one small bowl left.
This is going to make us all nuts. My neighbor has not been over to visit and we miss each other. So, today we texted each other plotting how we will dispose of the men in our lives who make us nuts….LOL LOL It was pretty funny, and would make a good comedy movie…probably with Madea…LOL
I sent my neighbor a mug because she would nto accept any money when she found the half and half for us. She was thrilled with it, and said it made her laugh. Her nickname is Bunny. The mug said….”I wont go anywhere without my Bunny”. It was more of an Easter mug, but we thought it was perfect for her! I am gad I made her laugh, as nobody aorund here is laughing cause of me….LOL LOL
Tonight we watch NCIS, and of course….This Is Us, and the enw show after that looks good too.
Be safe, and try not to murder anyone…..
Adele
P…I have to get on the Q and order the shirt for Tillie! -
Hey DD and Gail..
thanks for the pics, and the sale info!
Adele -
Hey Sue!
Thank God you heard me yelling in your ear to get chocolate. That is the one thing we just cannot survive without….LOL Every night I have a handful of those Robin’s eggs. I love those. I figure if I have to be tortured, I need my eggs every night right now.I have to tell you this, before I bust a gut, as we chatted about our business this week. So, we had a bounced check from a customer a week ago for a little over a thousand. He makes good on the check (LOL), with the fees, and it bounces again today. the thing is, he gave us a post dated check yesterday too, which I know will not clear. Thank God my husband finally listened to me, and stopped his delivery for today. During these times, I am afraid we will be out all the money he owes- almost 2000.00. I could scream. After 3 bounced checks, I refuse to take any more checks from a customer until they prove they will pay their bill, which means over many months. The nutty husband thinks I am crazy. Not! This is what I have been afraid of. Shops on the edge will use us to get their supplies, with checks that are no good. At least this time Gary agreed with me. Frankie and Heather were pretty mad too, as they hate when people use us like that.
Well, enough of the doom and gloom… I am so glad you got the tp!! We have 2 packs coming next week, and I am as excited as if I were having a gold delivery. none of us will ever think of tp in the same way again. LOL
I do wish Hallmark would do an Easter movie. Or more Spring movies. I love the ones on farms, as I always wanted to live on a farm.
Hope you have a good night.
Stay safe, and out of the way of any Amish women, as it sounds like they are quite goal oriented in their food shopping….. -
Hi Ladies,
I thought I would on for awhile tonight. There is not a lot going on here just all this stuff about the covid 19.There is not a lot to say about that. Everything has been said.
Gail I got the roomba going and I love it. So if you are still thinking about getting one I would suggest it. I was worried about it working on the hardwood floors and then working on the carpet. It does though and does a good job on both.
I like the Charmin bears hiding their toilet paper from the humans. That is really funny. They have a lot of really cute and funny things out there especially about toilet paper. I am glad that people are finding humor in things.
My daughter came over to report on how things are going. She has been working a lot of hours at the Dollar store. I guess they can stay open because they sell food and other essentials that people need. I think things are getting a little better here as far as groceries go. We have been able to get things we need.
Barbara it is so good to hear from you. Sounds like you are doing so much better. I just wish they would get rid of this virus. We do need to get some type of medicine to fight this.
Well that is all from here. I hope everyone has a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I saw that butterfly shirt but it has that tie right over the belly in a place where I don’t need extra bulk. lol Thanks for the heads up though. Now that you mention it though I think I need to wear a butterfly shirt to cheer me up though. Good idea.
Gail -
Sue,
So glad that you found the TP. Who would have ever thought that we would be high fiving each other (figuratively because of social distancing) about a toilet paper purchase. You gotta laugh. Sure, blame the candy purchase on Adele. I think I’ll blame my purchase of a few bags of cookies on her too. lol I actually don’t have any candy and now I am starting to wish that I did. lol
Sorry about the pushy woman that got too close. When are people going to get it?
I hope that Hallmark finds some other movies to show. You would think they would have some springtime movies-or Easter movies.
I don’t see how these shows can possibly have the live shows. I know they stopped shooting The Amazing Race a while back. I was looking forward to seeing that this spring. I just love to see the different places that they visit.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
It’s good to know that the Roomba goes easily from the rugs to the hardwood as we have both. I will have to rethink getting one sometime. The worst place is by the kitchen table. I never knew what messy eaters that we were until we no longer had dogs to clean up the crumbs. lol
I am trying to gather whatever funny memes that I can to post to keep us smiling. Laughing really does make us feel better.
It’s a good thing the Dollar Stores are open as Jenny has had to go there a few times to get things that she couldn’t get at Walmart.
I am imaging researchers around the globe are working to find medicines to help or a vaccine to prevent but all of these things take a bit of time.
Greg’s question is how does all this end. Does the virus just go away or do people just keep getting it forever. I kind of wonder the same thing too. Like in China where they haven’t had any new cases for a few days. Where did it go? Will it ever come back. Of all the questions everyone asks I’ve never heard this asked and answered.
Gail -
AnonymousInactiveMarch 25, 2020 at 10:22 amPost count: 643
Gail It won’t just go away. I think they are thinking they can come up with something to treat it. But it takes time for them to develop & test things to make sure they work & are safe.
You know I was thinking if we all lived close to each other I could have traded you a box of lasagna noodles for a roll of toilet paper.
Here is one I read on Facebook. They said all I needed to go to the grocery store was a mask & gloves. They lied everyone else had on clothes.
-
HI Adele,
The non boil noodles weren’t too bad. You have to make sure that you put a layer of sauce down on the bottom of the first layer and then make sure the rest of the layers has moisture on the noodles other wise they don’t get soft. It was an experience. But not too bad.
Tell Bobby he needs to be grateful that you are doing all this cooking. I have never put tomatoes in stew but every once in a while I will throw in a can of green beans.
I haven’t talked to Brent this week yet. I’m sure he’s gotten over it and hopefully is still working.
I keep hearing that gun sales are way up with this pandemic. Interesting.
So the wheels on Greg’s lawn cart were shot and he couldn’t repair them so he ordered a new one from Home Depot which arrived yesterday. It came in a hundred pieces so thank goodness he had a project to put together yesterday. it kept him busy most of the afternoon. lol
Unfortunately we have all the other ingredients for the bacon buns but yeast. In a pinch we can use frozen bread dough and I usually have some of that in the freezer but we lost the stuff we had when the freezer broke and I hadn’t replenished it. Looked on Amazon which is normally my go to place and couldn’t get any til April 12th. So we will just try again next week.
Keep your spirits up Adele. How is Tillie taking all this? Tell Bobby he can take over cooking duties if he doesn’t like what’s being served. lol
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
I thought I’d write a few lines to let ya know I’m still alive. I’m getting cabin fever & very bored with this stay put order. But I realize it’s for my safety. Snowball was bored too earlier so I let her out into the hallway to get some running in & I think it helped. She’s so sweet. When I don’t get up in the AM or taking a nap she comes into the bedroom, jumps up on the bed & starts telling me it’s time to get up. She’ll get up in my face & her whiskers tickle my face. Or she’ll sit beside me & purr till I wake up.
I haven’t read all the posts so if I leave anything out forgive me.
I have enough chocolate to last quite a long time. Wouldn’t it be great if chocolate was a cure for this nightmare?? If only!!!!!!
I wonder who all will get these checks they say will be coming? Any ideas? I know I don’t make $75,000/yr!!!
As for the covid-19 here, we’re up to 10 deaths & over 200 cases, but it changes constantly like the rest of the country. I’m getting sick of hearing about it all the time, so I tune into the Q. Or play something on Prime.
I’m getting a kick out of the cartoons you are putting on your posts.
Well, I guess that’s all I have for now.
Take care & stay safe
dd -
Hi Gail,
Well people are going crazy around here. They caught a nut case licking the deoderant saying who is afraid of corono virus. They took him to jail. That guy had to be nuts. I guess they had to throw all that in the trash. Can you imagine how expensive that was for the store. Then there was another guy who coughed in a person who worked in the stores face. What is wrong with people. They also arrested him. All the fruit cakes are out right now.
I guess this will end like all viruses do. When flu season is over it is just gone. I guess like the swine flu just went away. The next year it was a different strain.
I like all the things you are posting. They do make everyone smile. We do need that right now. My grand Kaylee is so bored she keeps cleaning her room. Now that is unusual. She never wants to clean her room. I have not talked to Aliza yet to see what she is up too. What are your grands doing? I hope they are finding things to keep them busy.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
That is funny that Snowball likes to run up and down the hall. It is really good though. At least he has a place to run in. That is cute the way that she wakes you up. At least he is gentle about it.
We have been watching a lot of channels on dish. I like the channels with no commercials. I do not like to listen to the people running for president and all this about covid 19. Read about the nuts that I told Gail about. Some people are really sick.
It was warm today so we went out and walked around. That was almost as good as eating chocolate. We are not going to get to go outside tomorrow we are supposed to get more rain. If it keeps on we will have to get around in a boat.
Well that is all from here. Have a good night.

Hi Sue,
I like your joke. That was funny. So I googled how this thing ends. It’s kind of hard to explain but it will fizzle out when enough people get it and become immune after having it where it is not so easy for it to jump from person to person. It may go away like SARS-it could mutate into something that isn’t as bad. There are a lot of scenarios that could play out. It’s probably best just to google it yourself as it’s hard for me to explain exactly what I read.
Ha ha I like that-bartering lasagna noodles for tp. I certainly will never look at tp the same again. Who knew it would become a precious commodity like gold or platinum. lol
Gail -
Hi DD,
Snowball looks like such a happy girl. I’ll bet you are so happy that you adopted her. Those cat whiskers do tickle.
I think you would be eligible for that check. They were trying to explain who was this morning but i got interrupted and didn’t hear it all. I’m sure you can check online and find out. I can say thank goodness for the internet during this time. It keeps people connected.
I watch the Today show in the morning, updates by the president and the governor and then that’s it. I have to limit my news intake otherwise I find myself becoming overwhelmed.
I’m glad you have been enjoying my funnies. I have been collecting them to post to give us something to smile at.

Gail, I am not sure anyone knows how it will end. I think it was one of the doctors that said it could be a seasonal thing. Heat kills it so we will be okay in Summer but it could come back when cold. I think I will try to keep 1 pack of tp extra from now on so I don’t run out. Now I hear it is eggs that are in short supply.
DD I am not sure I know how the check thing works as I have heard many things about that. I think I read if you have a work eligible SS# are not a dependent of someone else & meet the income requirements you will get a check.I am just going to wait & see. They said if the IRS has your deposit info it will go right into your account faster than waiting for a check. So we will see as they always DD my refund. Even if it is puny my refund this year was a whooping $24 but at least I did not have to pay them.

Hi Colleen,
It’s crazy what nutty things people will do. You wonder what they are thinking. By the same token you see people doing nice things for each other too-so I try and focus on the positive as much as possible.
I see where some checkers are getting plastic shields to protect them. That is a good idea. Whatever we can do to protect the people who are out in public is good.
I hear a lot of people are doing tons of cleaning so Kaylee is in good company. I think Kaylee and Lachlin were born the same year. Here’s what Lachlin is doing-staying in his pajamas all day and playing video games. I think screen time limits have gone out the window with the kids being home all the time now. Piper video chatted with friends a few times. Kendall and the girl across the street text a lot. Fortunately the three of them play pretty good together so they do have some built in playmates. I wonder if they will have online classes again after this week of spring vacation.
I’m glad you like the posts. I’m trying to add a little humor to our very serious world situation as it’s good if we can smile and laugh a bit too.
I will keep it up as long as I can find funny stuff.

With all the shortages we had a woman here in PA purposely cough all over the food & the store needed to throw out $35,000 worth of food & sanitize all the cases. So I guess that causes shortages & high prices. I fear it will only get worse as people are already sick of staying home. My cousin called last night & said she is bored.
Gail that is some wedding dress.
-
Hey Colleen
Glad you two are ok, and have all you need.
Up here,at 4:00 every day they give the new totals for the day. I keep thinking every person has a family who loved them. It feels like we are in a horror movie. the you look outside and see the sun shining, snd the brds singing, and you feel it is nto real.
Stay safe and disease free!
Adele
PS I tried to skype Steph last night. No go,as her phone was acting up, as well as her computer.
Adele -
Sue,
I saw that about the lady in Pa somewhere online. What a sicko!
People are just going to have to learn to amuse themselves. I’d rather be bored than dead.
Yes, I do miss going out but people have to realize that this is temporary and it’s for the good of all mankind.
I hope you had some ideas to offer your cousin to ease her boredom.
Humans are social beings and I think that is the hard part. But I hope everyone can just be patient and realize that we are all doing this to help each other.
At least we now have social media for people to keep in touch with the world and their friends and loved ones.
Gail -
Hey Sue
That was real funny!!
Here is a REAL one for you. My neighbor needed a box of gloves, and she came over bearing a 4 pack of tp- done deal!! We laughed our butts off.
Adele -
OMG Gailster- that one is hysterical. Up here some stores are starting to raise the prices on tp..I think everyone who does, we should nto shop at when this is all over.
So, today Heather went to see the boys- at Steph’s. Then she was going to put more stuff in her apartment upstairs. Gary left for NH, and then I had quiet. Absolute quiet. I was thrilled. in about 10 minutes- literally 10 minutes….Bobby came home as all hi nobs for the afternoon were cancelled. I almost cried. So much for the silence. and much needed aloneness…..
we now have 2417 cases and 25 deaths. We had 1038 yesterday. I think we had 15 deaths as of yesterday. Dam. I hear you know who will be talking shortly. Our Governor just went a little nuts- he said…”until it shows i up in the Commonwealth, we do not have it.” He is real pissed we are not getting the medical supplies he has ordered.
Today I ordered tp form BJ’s again today, and it is on for delivery on Tuesday. We shall see if they cancel it again. i hope you have all you need at your house!
I hope Brent is feeling better.
Adele -
Hey DD
I am glad you are staying inside. Up here, there are 3 bus drivers who now have it. So, that is scary too when you don to drive.
I love the pics of your kitty! Steph did the same thing as you did with the kitty- she was waking in her hallway today, while Heather watched the boys She needed a break. She has been dong a lot with the boys inside- classes, and they even made a ” golf range” inside….LOL
Have to go prep my veggies…hope I can get back on and answer the rest!
Adele…stay safe!! -
Hi Adele,
Sorry your time alone was cut short. You must never get any alone time. I’m funny-I am very social but I like my alone time too.
Our governor does not have much love for Washington either. He comes on each day at about 2:30 our time-(right in the middle of GH) On a lighter note when he comes on he also has an interpreter for the deaf doing sign language on the side of the stage. I just love watching that guy as he really does his job with such expressiveness. He is kind of amazing. I wonder if he is interpreting right as the gov. is speaking or if he has the speech on a teleprompter as it looks like the gov. speaks from notes. If he’s doing it impromptu I just wonder how he keeps up-I could never remember all those words and interpret them at the same time. If you ever get to see an Illinois governors update check him out.
So far we are good and have what we need. We probably won’t need to shop again until towards the end of next week.
How is Tillie doing with all of this? I hope she isn’t too frightened.
Greg made crepes for dinner last night. He was going to make waffles but the mix I had in the pantry had a best by date of 2017. it would probably have been all right but I am kind of fussy about that kind of stuff. Then he looked up a recipe online and I didn’t have some of the ingredients so we just went with the crepes-which was fine by me. We had some leftovers for breakfast too. Yum!
Am thinking about what today’s dinner will be. Will figure it out in a bit.
Take Care,
Gail -
Hey Sue
Did that crazy woman get arrested fro what she did? That makes me nuts, as people wait for things to come back in stock, and then someone does that, and ruins lots of people’s choices, or eliminates the choice altogether. That is just awful.
Im attaching a pic of the roasted root veggies I did last night ( with red peppers added….LOL) I need to make some bread. Probably tomorrow.
Do you watch Greys Anatomy? I cried at the end. I am getting so emotional lately.
Hope your day is going well. Bobby came home real early and said the airport closed an entire terminal today. Heather went to spend some time with Steph and the boys, and to help her make dinner tonight- chicken broccoli and ziti. Steph is trying so hard to do the home school thing. She had downloaded the info this summer, as she was undecided if she was goign to send Aizen to Kindergarten, or do it at home- before she got her license. She also said the Kindergarten teacher is face timing her students, and Aizen loves to chat with her. How sweet is that? God bless all the teachers. God save the kids who are at home with parents who are not the best right now. I am scared for those kids.
Have a good night. I hope Blue Bloods is nto a repeat.
Adele -
Love the pic of the engagement….LOL
Hey Gailster!
I love crepes. I eat them the German way- fill them with cooked spinach ( saute in oil and garlic) and wrap them up. Very yummy. they also so them with a nice jam spread inside, wrap, and eat. Try them that way- you will like them. Very different….LOL So, what do you put on them? Do you use syrup, or fruit?? Also good with strawberries in syrup and whip cream….yum. I am getting hungry. It is really bad when all we have to do is clean, eat and watch TV. You love to read- so does Sue. My eyes get too tired form the small print. I do have my needlepoint, but, I have nto done any in a week- what is up with that???I heard if the IRS has your direct deposit info your check will go there, and come faster- in 3 weeks. If nto, they are taking bout either a check, or a credit card. That is what they are saying up here.
Steph’s complex sent a not around that no child is allowed in their playgrounds. She has been cleaning her building- the mailboxes and door handles, and railings, as she is afraid nobody is doing that.
I hope everyone continues to be good, and nobody needs quarantining. My neighbor is a Assistant Fire Chief and some of his men were exposed to the virus. He decided to live int he garage, until he knows the status of his men’s health or tests. he will use a tent in the garage, with a heater to keep warm. It is getting dangerously close. I pray for him and his men, every night. For all the first respondents, everywhere…..and the food workers!
Tillie is ok. I think she is nervous about the TP. She has been enjoying all the meals I have been cooking, since Bobby eats with us almost every night. LOL She uses more than our entire street.
Hope all stay good in your area, and all our Quacker friends……
Have a good night!
Adele -
Hi Gail,
There are not a lot of good things being said that is going on. They did show two kids that were on this older woman’s porch and they were playing their cellos for this woman. She likes classical music and cannot go to concerts.
That poor girl in the toilet paper wedding gown better be careful. People will be tearing pieces off as she walks down the isle .lol That was really funny. Can you imagine how much time that it took to make that? You really find a lot of cute things to post.
Sounds like the kids are doing pretty good at home. It is nice that they have people that they can talk to. Even though it is on the internet. It is good that they get along and can do things together.
We talked to Aliza on the phone yesterday and she was singing songs to us and did not stop talking. We stayed on the phone with her until Danyielle’s phone was going dead. So will call her again tomorrow and talk to her again.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Your meal looks really good. You make me really hungry seeing it. I made taco salad and that will last a couple of days. It is easy to have meals that will last more then one day. You always have so many there.
I am glad that Tillie is doing ok. This has to be scary for her. It is nice that she is coming upstairs to eat with all of you. It is nice that Bobby is around to help cook if you have a night that you do not feel like cooking. I am starting to get restless sitting around this house. It has started raining here again so we cannot go out for a walk even.
Are you having better luck at buying things at the store there now? Things have been pretty good here. They have been stocking shelves every day and closing early so they can keep up. That was a good idea to put the shields up between the checkers and the customers. I do not know what they are doing here I still have not been to a store.
Well that is about all from here. There is not a lot going on. Take care and stay disease free.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
Yes, there are lots of people doing nice things during this crisis. I watch the Today Show each day and it seems like they make it a point to show people doing nice things each day. One thing they showed was a family in a neighborhood going out and putting up their flag each day and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Other families in the neighborhood noticed and started coming out to the ends of their driveways to watch and say the pledge too so now it is a neighborhood thing.
I’m sure your home is like ours being out in the country you can go for days without seeing anybody-just people driving by. We are on a dead end road so the only people driving by are the ones who live on the road.
Our neighbor across the street lost his koi to the mink this winter and Greg says he can’t see anything in our pond again so he probably cleared us out again too. I told Greg he wouldn’t have that problem if he had put a swimming pool in that spot instead. lol He didn’t think it was too funny. lol
I saw some other postings of toilet paper gowns and now I can’t remember where. They kind of remind me of the crepe paper gowns for the Milk Day princesses. I don’t know if there will even be a Milk Day this year.
Now the kids finished spring break so I guess they will be starting up on line classes again. I would hate to be trying to help the kids with math as they do all the math totally differently from how we were taught. Even Jenny was taught different from how they do it now.
I like that Aliza calls her school pretty school. That is so cute. She really had a lot to say to you guys if she ran the battery down on the phone. lol
When I get tired of being home all the time I just have to think that going out in public could kill me and that brings me to my senses.
I think of Ann Frank and her family being in hiding for all those years and it makes me grateful that I am staying home within the comforts of my own home and have access to the perks of modern life. Or I think of the people sheltering during the London blitz and not knowing when the air raid was over if their house would still be standing. I worry so much about the health care workers and whether or not they have the equipment to protect themselves and save lives. I worry about my family staying safe. I am grateful that Greg is here with me during this time. Yes, sometimes I want to cry and I wonder why this is happening-I’m human. But we will keep on keeping on and praying that we all come through this safely.
Now that I have depressed everyone when i was trying to be encouraging I will go through my funny pictures and find something to post. lol
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Your meal looks good. I don’t roast veggies a lot-I should do it more. I know Greg liked when I made those Italian sausages with the peppers. I added some mushrooms to mine and put parmesan cheese on the top. We eat the crepes with jelly in them. It was Greg’s Mom’s recipe and that’s how she served them. Last night for dinner we had shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs and a fruit salad with cantelope, strawberries and grapes. Kind of a weird combo but it was good. When I was preparing the deviled eggs one of them was a double yolk. I rarely see them anymore although a few months ago I had two of them in one pack of eggs. When we had chickens we used to get them a lot as the young hens lay a lot of them.
Greg was able to get some yeast from our across the street neighbor as she buys it in bulk so I see some bacon buns in our future.
I know Greg is enjoying the home cooked meals. Sometimes I think it’s the high point of his day as he is always asking eagerly what’s for dinner. lol
Good for Steph making sure that stuff in the building gets cleaned.
You know if you really wanted to read there are large print books or if you have a tablet or kindle you can enlarge the size of the print. I know. Now I’m being Gail the pushy librarian. lol I guess I just wish everyone could share my love of books as when you have a book you are never alone and you can travel places and experience things from the comfort of your arm chair.
I watch Grey’s anatomy but I am about a season and a half behind so I am not current at all. I just finished watching the episode from last year where Amelia and Link were in NY and they went to her sister’s house for dinner and she had Link pretend he was Owen as she had never told her family that she got divorced. I hear that they have stopped filming because of the virus and either this weeks episode or next weeks episode will be the last for the year so there will not even be a big dramatic season ender like there usually is. Pretty soon there won’t be any new shows filming. It’s a good thing that we have a bunch of DVDs that we have not yet gotten around to watching. We don’t subscribe to Netflix but could also do that if we wanted. Plus i just bought a couple of new board games that Greg will probably beat me at. lol So basically I don’t think we will run out of things to do.
Stay safe-stay healthy.

Gail I saw the one with the dog up on top of the cabinets. No wonder he was tired of walks. It is funny.
Adele I am sure that woman will be arrested. I think they took her for a mental evaluation first. I don’t know what is wrong with people. Things are bad enough without the crazy ones.
I do watch Grey’s Anatomy but I feel like it has really gone downhill. Most of the original people are gone. I did feel bad for Richard though.

Hi Gail,
On one of the news shows they showed the running Preacher. He jogs every day and will stop and pray with people if they ask him to. They stand on their porches an he stands at the edge of the yard. I thought that was so nice that he did that. I am not sure where he was at.
There are not many people that come down our road. There are not that many houses on our road and most of the people that live there are our age are older. So we are all staying in the house until it is ok to go out. It would be nice if we could hear kids outside playing but there are not any kids around.
That mink really gets around. Is there any way to stop him? It would be nice if you could catch him in a trap or something to keep him from getting the fish. He sure does travel and eats a lot.
That is sad that they are not going to have the Milk days. Piper will not get her chance to run for princess. Will she be able to next year or will she be too old? I do not know if they have an age limit or not. It is so sad that the kids will miss out on so much this year. They are already cancelling Easter egg hunts and all the fun Easter things. This will probably be the last year that Aliza will believe in the Easter Bunny. Some of the kids will tell her.
I am not good at math even if they did it the way we did it. My kids would really be in trouble if the depended on Grandma to help them with math. Owen is lucky he is really good at math so does not need a lot of help. It will be interesting to see if Aliza will be good at math.
Those poor people during the Holocaust really went thru a lot. It is sad to think of that. I cannot imagine that it would have been easy to hide out like they did. Ann Frank could not move around in the daytime they had to stay quiet at least we do not have to stay quiet.
It is good that you are telling people to read. It is a good way to stay busy and not worry about having nothing to do. I have been napping a lot and I need to pick up a book and read. I have enough books to keep me busy for a life time.
That poor dog does not want to go for a walk if he is way up on that cabinet. It would be interesting to see how he got up there.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

toilet paper wedding dresses
-
Hey Colleen
No it has not been easier to get things. Toilet paper still not available. Prices going up. Bobby paid almost 5.00 for a dozen eggs. There was a sign saying due to demand price on eggs went up
It is raining up here and will rain on and off all week
We have to feed me and Gary, Bobby snd Heather and Tillie each day
I FaceTimed Marissa and Sonny. It looked like he did not know who I was. I expected that as he had not been here for a month. That is half his life
I have ITKWD on
Last night we watched the movie The Kitchen with Melissa McCarthy. She was real good in it
Hope you get to keep Skyping Aliza. At least we can talk to the kids.
Stay safe
Adele -
Hey Gailster
I didn’t cook last night cause I have been struggling with gout and diarrhea. It is better today. Last night I ate a salad and Gary had. Can soup
Today I am doing another boiled dinner. Lol. Not good for gout or diarrhea
Gary keeps telling me to calm down. I am so worried we are the 3rd or 4th in the ranking of cases and deaths in the country So far nobody is sick bi am worried about Enzo. Bobby and Jhonny. They run into a lot of people every day. Our people do not run into that many. Heather and Frankie see one to two people on each shop. Still not great but not as bad. I am a wreck over all of them. Then add the customer who bounces checks. I’ll see tomorrow if his replacement checks have cleared. Oh well. Sorry for bitching
Tillie will come up for dinner today. It is good her hearing is not good right now, because if she heard everything she would be a wreck too!!
You are right. Everyone looks forward to dinner as the highlight of their day
I hope they reschedule zMilk Days. That would be awful for Piper and Jenny
Stay safe. Hope there is at least one Koi hiding in the pond……
Adele -
Hey Sue and Gail
I liked the old people on Greys too. I cried about Richard , of course. I have been so emotional lately
We have to stop here so Gail can catch up. Lol
Did you hear any more about the disturbed lady??
Do you watch. God Friended Me? I have love that show
It must be raining for you too????
Hope you are good. Stay safe!
Adele -
LOL. LOL. LOL
the bride would be naked by the time she got to the altar up here!!!!

Colleen and Gail
That running preacher sounds so happy to see. Nobody is running down our cul de sac….LOL Accept for the coyotes.
Adele -
Hope everyone is doing good. It is an absolutely beautiful day here today following a night of storms. Had terrible tornado in Jonesboro Arkansas last night with such bad distruction. I feel so sorry for all those who were affected. we are not able to find our pantry items any better now. I really hope it is easing up for you all. Most people here are out and about but there is just so much pushing and shoving when they do put something like toilet paper out. The stock man told Jerry that he can’t even get it off the pallet with people being so ugly. He said he just stands back and lets them grab it. Crazy times and scary times.
Neal called yesterday. He said he is really getting worried about coming here at all when they move. He said he is thinking about not stopping here. I feel so badly for him; I know this has him all torn up; because I know it does us. We want to see them so badly, and there is so much doubt and uncertainty now. I could just cry. And the baby said “MiMi I want to come see you tomorrow, okay?” Made my heart melt….
Jerry and I are watching things we never thought of watching. I made a deal with him that I would watch the war movies he wanted to watch if he would watch the Diners, Drivein and Dives with me on Food Network channel. I just love to watch him travel to all those places and meet the locals and support the restaurant people. I love their stories of how they began their businesses. Do you all watch by any chance? I followed your advice on take out food Gail. Did I tell you all that Jerry bought 5 pounds or more of frozen chicken wings one day? It is the seasoned kind I think from TYSON; and I don’t like the spice on them; so he is stuck eating all of it lol He also got a huge box of Oreo cookies and he gave some to Joey and Lisa and I am helping him eat those. I had such a craving one day for freshly baked cookies; and just could not put together all the ingredients I needed to bake some. I really wanted peanut butter or oatmeal. Did I tell you all that I ordered the ENSTROM toffee they had on the Q? I was too sick to eat any but Jerry and the boys raved about it during the holidays. they said it was so good; rich, but good. By the way, DD your kitty is cute as a button. Our kitty jumps up between us in the mornings. He also follows me everytime I go to the bathroom. He gets so tired when I have taken the diuretic pill; it interupts his all day nap. ha ha But he is such good company for us. And he loves sleeping in his QVC box. Sue, it was on our local news about the lady up your way sneezing/coughing on the vegs. and them being thrown out. Its a shame they couldn’t be donated to a pet food company or something to not waste them. You were surely lucky to find a store offering the tissue. we can’t get it here. Not sure what we are going to do.
I felt kind of yucky yesterday, but much better today. I find that if I get rest I do so much better. I am having lots of trouble sleeping. My mind just won’t stop racing. Jerry is asleep almost before his head hits the pillow. He said he has always been this way.
Better close for now. By the way, Adele, you meals looks just luscious! Your family is so lucky to have you. Colleen, I thought of you the day the shows from Ireland were on. I wondered if you were watching. they had such pretty items on that day. I remember all those years ago we began watching and talking about the items and what we had ordered. I was very frugal this year; but did order the beautiful wool throw since I stay cold over my feet and legs. It is so beautiful. I know there are many years of use that it will give. I wanted so many things but am glad I held myself back.
gail, how is your son and daughter doing with all this? Hope his health is doing good now. I bet you are getting lots of reading in. How are your eyes doing? good i hope. Take care everyone. Hugs, Barbara -

Adele just an fyi for you. If you are baking & don’t have eggs you can substitute 1 Tbls Corn starch mixed with 3 Tbsp of water for each egg. Also if you can get egg beaters they can be used also.
-
Hi Ladies,
Just a note to let ya know I’m still alive. I send FB posts to let ya know I’m still around. I send em through Messenger so I hope you’re getting them.
Not much going on here. I;m on week 3, I think, of social distancing, or being in prison, as I call it. I haven’t been to the store for at least 2 weeks now. Payday is Friday, & I have a feeling everything will be gone again. Supposedly the stores say they’ll keep the shelves full, but there are 2 days before I can get there. We’ll see.
I haven’t even been down to check my mail since last Wed. I haven’t seen or talked to Critt since then either.
Snowball is a pain in the wazoo. Every morning she jumps up on my bedside table to then jump on me to get to the other side. Only to turn around &jump back to the table. Last night, just after I turned out the light to go to sleep her she comes, wanting to explore the bedroom. then again this morning she woke me up.
We’re up to 600 people who have the the virus, & 13 deaths. Most of whom are in their 80s & 90s.
Well, I guess that’s all for today.
Take care & stay safe!!!

DD I am glad you are not so hard hit. We have almost 4100 cases & 50 deaths & it keeps growing rapidly over 700 new cases just for today. We are now to stay at home until at least April30th & school cancelled indefinately. I just wish they made people listen. They say the Amish have been notified but just go on as usual with large groups at church, weddings etc. No social distancing for them & they don’t clean their hands. I know their beliefs are different but all our health is at risk. I was to go tomorrow to have my hearing aid cleaned & checked but changed it to May but I don’t know if it will be any better then.

Hey Sue!
I never knew that was a substitute for an egg. How cool is that! Where did you learn that? Did you take cooking in high school? OMG…do you remember there was Home Economics? And sewing???? I was so jealous of my friends who had those classes in school. At Catholic school they were nto available. So, all of a sudden we see a delivery person dropping off groceries form BJ’s. I thought they had cancelled my order. They substituted a cheaper brand of tp- the Scott one ply one. They also substituted some cheap brand of paper towels too. I forgot I had ordered eggs, as people were having trouble finding them. Glad I did as they are a lto more at the supermarket now. Who cares if the tp and paper towels are cheaper!! At least we have some. I know Tillie could never use that toilet paper as she is way too delicate for that….LOL I supposedly have an order coming tomorrow with Clorox wipes. I am betting those will not come. I got Hostess cupcakes and Little Debbies Brownies with that order, and this delicious cheese I have only seen there- it is a goat cheese, wrapped in blueberries. I love a piece of that for breakfast. Have you ever seen that cheese in your area? I will have to see what, if anything , will come.
I hope you are ok. It is getting real scary up here. I have been getting weepy real easy. Very emotional lately, and doing the therapy shopping is not a good idea right now…LOL
Have a good night- hope you are ok.
Adele -
Hey DD
Love your pictures! Your area is nto too ad, compared to us. Mass. is real bad. I think we are the 3rd largest in the nation, and we are a small state. Stress levels are through the roof. Frankie is wearing one of those gas masks- we sell them. Heather will not wear one. She does wear the gloves, and disinfects her car, hands and gloves…..before she takes them off she she will not get anything on her hands. There are 2 nursing homes up here that are taking huge hits- one is for Veterans. It is awful.
I am sorry you have been all alone. On the other hand, I am glad you are not near anyone either.
Your kitty is sure in need of your attention. I guess she gets lonely in the morning and night. I hope you will be bale to get the groceries you need. Will the stores there do the early am shopping for seniors only? You have a better chance of getting the things you need that way.
I hope you have a good night, and please stay safe!

Sue…I am sorry about the ways of the Amish in your area. It does pose a risk to all of you, and all of them. I hope they realize it, and amend their ways before a lot of them get sick. I would be scared for them, and you.

Hi Everyone,
Still not much going on. I did see another good deed done by a really nice woman. She does parties for little kids and dresses as their favorite princess. She was going to different neighborhoods dresses as Elsa from Frozen and talking to all the little kids. The kids would come out on their porches and she would stand by the sidewalk and talk to them. She was singing a song from the movie and all the kids would sing along. It was so cute. She also showed them how to give an air hug. They all seemed to like that also. It was just so cute.
Barbara, it is good to see you back on here again. Sounds like you are feeling better. It is sad that you will nto get to see Colin before they move back to California. Maybe something will happen and they will get to come to see you. This is a really hard time. We have not seen our grands and they live close by. This is just a really hard time. I watch Diners it is really good. Most of the food is so spicy that I do not think that I could eat there. There have been a few of the restaurants that I would have loved to go to but too far away. I have ordered cookies off the Q. Davids cookies are really good. I have bought the sugar free ones also they are really good. They are worth buying we have had both kinds. I ordered a few things from the Irish shows. I bought the key chains for Christmas gifts for Ron’s sisters. I bought a rosary, sweater and necklace. My mom and I use to watch those shows together and I guess I ordered things thinking of her.
DD, I really like the pictures that you posted. They are so cute and help to brighten my day. Those flowers are so pretty. I like the pictures of Snowball also. It is nice to see cheerful pictures. It is like being in prison not being able to go anywhere. It would be nice to see the mailman even. Our mailbox is at the end of our drive so we never see him. It does make you feel like their is no one in the world but us. Is Critt at home or in the hospital? It will be nice if you could talk to him at least.
Adele, it is nice that they delivered your food to you. They will not deliver it to us because of where we live. That is one ba thing where we live. Your cheese wrapped in blueberries sound really good. I have never seen it before. That is sad that the virus is hitting the nursing homes. I feel so sorry for those people they cannot go anywhere to get away from this. They are all stuck in the same building. That is so sad. I wonder how they handle things in nursing homes to keep the staff and the residents safe. I am glad that I am not working in a home anymore. I have been watching shows that are showing some people doing good things. There have not been many but when I see something I try to share.
Gail, I love the picture of all the wedding dresses made of toilet paper. That is funny. I wonder who thought of doing that. It must have been done before the toilet paper shortage.
Well that is about all from here. I hope you all stay safe and free from this horrible covid 19. I am praying for all of you.

Starting new April thread. See you all there.

Hi Colleen
I love to hear the beautiful stories of people who do nice things for everyone in these awful times. I just heard one I can share. A woman who works as a security guard went food shopping after work. She is a single parent. She has some food stamps, and when she went to check out there was a glitch in the system, and she had to leave her groceries, as she had nto money to get them. She left the store crying and a Boston Police officer asked her what was wrong. She told him, and he paid for her entire order. What a nice thing for that police officer to do, and he is on the front line every day. God bless him,and everyone who loves him!!I have not seen anyone either. I really miss the kids just stopping by. I hope this ends soon, and does not take more people. if there are still people who don to feel the seriousness of this, I honestly feel they should start to put up all the pictures of the people who died, not the numbers. Each number stands for a person. A person who had family, and friends, and maybe even a fellow Quacker.
I hope you had a good day, and were able to get outside in the air with Ron. It is going to storm here for the next two days. so nobody will be outside….LOL Please stay safe!!
Adele
PS…The blueberry cheese looks like a roll of cheese- like the cheddar cheese comes in, and it is wrapped in blueberries son the outside of the cheese. It is nice to have a slice of it with breakfast, or on a cracker. -
Missy Barbara!
Somehow I missed this email notice.
I am so sorry the baby will not be coming on their way through. I know how much you were looking forward to the visit, and how your heart must be breaking. I just do not know what to say to comfort you this time. I know what you are thinking, and you have to try not to think that way. I know you are feeling what if you get sick again, and never get another chance to see his little self. Please try to shut that off. God will nto let it happen. We will all pray for that NOT to happen. Plus, we will hope by the time they go through your area, something changes to allow the visit to happen. Do not give up hope! Hope is all we have in these difficult times, and we cannot be without hope.
We have been watching movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Last weekend we watched a movie called The Kitchen, with Melissa McCarthy. We both enjoyed it. We also saw the one about Elton John- Rocketman. That was very good too. Ilearned a lot about Elton john I never knew, and it gave me a new respect for his immense talent.
I am sorry I didn’t see t his sooner. I hope you are ok, and that you had some more good sunny days to feel better.
Love you!

Hi Adele,
That was really nice of the policeman to do that for that woman. I hope that other people will do the same. It is a hard time right now and we need to help each other. That policeman was being so nice.
The cheese sounds really good. I may have to look for it in Schnucks they have all types of foods that we cannot find other places. Have you ever had Havarti cheese? We had a hard time finding it for awhile and then Ron found some at Aldi. Do you have an Aldi store where you live. Ron went there the other day and found all kinds of things. He said that their shelves were stocked and he could find all types of things.
We have gone outside on the deck. Did not do much walking around.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I haven’t been on for a few days. I’m doing just fine. I just went to the store yesterday for cat food.
It;s getting pretty bad when the highlight of your week is walking to the store for milk & cat food. but it’ s safer that way. when I went over the underground parking lot wasn’t as packed as it usually is. I took a mask with me & put it on when I got there. I forgot I had bought some a yr or so ago when I had a really bad cold, I’d wear one when I’d go downstairs so I wouldn’t spread my germs. I still have a few left so they came in handy. wearing the mask took me back to when I worked at HP. I worked in a clean room where we had to wear gear similar to hazmat suits, including masks. But they weren’t anything like the ones I have or what the nurses & doctors are in need of right now.
Barbara, I;m so sorry your family can’t stop by to see you before heading west. I know how much you were looking forward to seeing them. Sending big hugs to you. A friend pointed out to me Psalms 91 during this crisis. I’d forgotten about it. Maybe it’ll give you some comfort. I think the Psalms are a great comfort, esp. the 23rd Psalms.
Adele, I;m surprized you didn’t know about the egg beaters. Some recipes actually call for them instead of real eggs. Diets that call for egg substitute. Less cholesterol.
I haven’t read all the posts so forgive me.
Our weather is wacky. The snow level is coming down again the few days. we’ll get snow in the foothills surrounding Portland, but hopefully not down here. But the good thing is the snow pack is stacking up & up. Good for the summer water run off.
Unfortunately our numbers of covid-19 are increasing daily as are the deaths. We’re no where near the numbers in NYC or even in Wa. state.
Well, I guess that’s about all for tonight.
Take care, & stay safe

Hi Colleen
We do not have any Aldi’s up here. I have had Harvati cheese, and it is good.
Ill see you on the April board….LOL

Hi DD!
Love the pics. They are always so pretty and nice to look at…especially since it has been raining and gloomy up here.
Our cases in Mass are increasing at a scary rate. These are times we will all want to forget.
I am glad you were able to get what you needed. I finally got 2 tp deliveries, so we are ok for a few weeks. I was getting worried.
Bobby is even concerned about shopping. I til him we could do an order for delivery, as I have a coupon for free delivery. But, he wants to pick out the food himself. He has been very anxious because the management at the Airport has nto been telling the whole truth. He found out from someone not in a building that one building was “cleaned” due to people being sick in there. They did nto tell him when he went to treat the building, and bobby confronted them on it. They can;t do that to people, as it places everyone at risk. He is very worried about getting sick and infecting us.
I pray so hard every day, for all of us, and everyone on the front lines. I hope God listens and does an Easter miracle.
Have you heard from Crit? How about your friends you go see at the holidays? I pray all are ok.
Stay safe!

Hi Ladies,
HAPPY EASTER everyone. I just wrote out a post & it disappeared. I’m so mad I could chew nails!!
I’m okay. apparently the lock down is working. We hit 51 deaths today & 1400 known cases of the disease. I’m using my humidifier. hoping it’ll keep my passages clear.
I go to the store only when I absolutely need to. this week I had to go get my prescriptions so I’m set for 90 days now. And when I go I pick up extra milk, bread & cat food. (heaven forbid I forget it.)
It’s been difficult to stay in cuz we’ve been having lovely weather. No big storms coming in that I know of. Spring has finally sprung. And so has the pollen. I get notifications of high pollen in the area, so my allergies are driving me crazy. I read where pink eye is a sign of the disease. My eyes are pink/red for months on end, not to mention watery, & drippy nose, & of course sneezing!! Oh yeah I’m taking OTC meds for my allergies.
To keep sane, follow InstaGram & found a goat foarm in Idaho. they just welcomed 12 new babies. Two sets of triplets, & 3 sets of twins in 2-3 days. I’m IN LOVE with those babies!!!! They’re barely 10 days old now & they’re frolicking in the pastures. the lady that owns the farm, videos them & I could watch them all day long!! I also follow families who post their kitties. You can comment on them & get replies back. It’s entertaining for me. I know I’ve lost what’s left of my mind.
Well, I guess that’s it for now.
Oh, did I tell ya Snowball found a new place to hide? I was looking for her the other day & the last place I looked, there she was, in the bathtub. She got up on my lap tonight. she doesnt’ do that very often.
OK, that’s all for now. Even tho we can’t be with our families, remember HE is in control. Put your trust in HIM & NOT THE POLITICIANS. HE is the one in control, so put everything in HIS Hands. We can’t control anything so give it all to HIm.
Take care, stay safe & have a happy Easter.

Thank you for the prayers. Glad your Easter was ok.
Heather is negative for the virus. Thank God.
I am sorry I have not been on to say hi to everyone. Im trying to do a couple of answers at a time today….LOLDD
I love your stories about your kitty. A pet right now is such a joy to have. I am so happy you have Snowball.
I am also glad you are able to get the groceries you need. Still shortages up here, and every week there is a new item missing form the shelves. Frozen, dairy and paper products, including anything to clean with are just not there. I have a couple of cleaning disinfecting things on order form Amazon- coming in May and some in June. Seriously? It is a challenge, for sure! Please stay safe. there will be many nice days coming to enjoy. Did you see the beautiful rainbow over NY??? Encouraging to see- maybe God saying He has them.
Love all you guys!
