Welcome Merry Month of May!
-
Hello Everyone,
Adele, I hope you are recovering from your fall. It seems like when that happens we are discovering bumps and bruises days later. I hope they can adjust the thyroid medicine to help the hair loss. How sweet of Gary to point it out. He should definitely be on the potato soup list for that one. It reminds me of a conversation I had with Greg lately about weight loss and him kindly pointing out how much harder it would be for me than him as i have so much more to lose. I know he didn’t really mean anything bad by it and he has never mentioned my tremendous weight gain over the years but I just felt a little stab when he said that. I guess I was being overly sensitive. Maybe that is because last time I saw my rheumatologist he wanted me to lose wight too. I had kind of gotten used to being fat and really accepted it and i guess I just didn’t like the reminders. However, thus far i have done nothing about it. Like I said-it seems to be such a daunting project. I just want to be fat and happy. lol
Greg did mention that he liked the cake you posted. I told him he should have told you that. Men! Sometimes they just don’t realize that it makes us feel good to hear that they like what we do.
I swear that fence and rock wall project is turning into a nightmare. Maybe you need to find like a landscaper or something to finish the project. I will be praying that Steph gets that license.
Was that sliced strawberries on top of that cake?
I don’t mind the DWTS with the athletes. I guess it doesn’t really matter that much to me who the contestants are as i enjoy watching the pros as much as the “stars” anyway. Kareem is really tall isn’t he? It would be funny to have a picture of him with us on either side. lol
Colleen, those shirts with the lace are so pretty. I have a couple in the 3/4 sleeve. You will love them.
That’s funny that Ron and his friend talk on the phone while watching the game. They’re like teenagers.
You are right we seniors enjoy the naps much more now than we did when we were kids.
How awesome that would be for your Mom to be at your 50th anniversary. I hope you enjoyed your day with her today and she keeps getting better and better.
Barbara, I believe they found that Brent had an underactive thyroid and he is on meds for that. Yes, they did finally diagnose ulcerative colitis so now they just need to get the right combination of meds.
That is interesting that you and Jerry saw a psychiatrist as part of the rehab for his back. I would never have thought of that but it really makes sense as an injury like that is so life altering. I guess that is the resilience of the human spirit that we think we can overcome something like that. I don’t know if it’s better to still believe we will overcome or if it’s better to accept our limitations. that is a tough one. Each decision has pros and cons.
I love my solar lights too but I have bought fewer new ones lately for some reason. I also love windchimes. I know some hate them and think they are noise pollution but i love to hear their music playing in the breezes.
How is you party planning going? Do Joey and Lisa know you are doing this or will it be a surprise? I hope you have a wonderful time. Do you have a date yet? I hope we can see some pics from the wedding and the party.

Hi Ladies,
I started a post last night, then POOF it was gone & I had to sign in again.. I wonder what’s going on with this site sometimes.
Anyway, I didn’t read all your posts, but I did want to address something. We need to remove the word “diet” from our vocabulary. What we need to do is change the way we think. Diets NEVER work!! Changing our eating habits need to change. I was so looking forward to the rehab cause I know they would help me do just that. At first I set my goal for 50 lbs., but I reconsidered & dropped it to 5-10 lbs. Setting it so high, wouldn’t work. When we learn to walk we start out with baby steps, obviously. So for weight loss we need to start out low then go from there. It takes time to lose it, after all we didn’t put it on overnight. Don’t get discouraged when someone makes hurtful comments. Bask in your successes, & don’t let anyone get to you.It sounds like the weather we had last week has made its way to the East coast this week. and it’s gonna be nice out here this week. The clouds are gone & the sun is out. It’ll be so nice to go shopping tomorrow.
Colleen, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! I hope you guys have a wonderful celebration.
I’ll have to go back & read your posts so I can respond to them.
I put several things in my cart from the QF show yesterday. sigh.
Take care everybody.

Hi Ladies,
You would not believe the odyssey I’ve been thru trying to get the Philosophy I ordered!!! Apparently UPS delivered it over the weekend, but it said I wasn’t home. I was!! I checked the tracking # & it said it was dropped off at an address I have no idea where it is. I tried looking it up on the computer, & all I could find was an empty bldg. So I called UPS to find out what’s going on. the lady I talked to took my info & told me it would be redelivered to my address today. Well, here I sit all day long & guess what? No delivery. I rechecked the status & is says it was delivered. It says “delivered’, but not to me!!! I called UPS again, & this gal told me it would be delivered Friday!!! They must have a new driver, cuz the one that normally delivers brings it to my door & knocks on the door, so I know the pkg is there. I told the ladies I’m elderly & house bound, & can’t get around. We’ll see if it actually gets delivered on Friday!!! If you hear an explosion out here, you’ll know who it is!! I left some parts of the odyssey out, but you get the drift.
I had to blow off some steam. I better go get dinner.

Hi Gail,
Well it sounds like they are making some progress with Brent. They now know what is wrong but just need to get the meds right. That is just so aggravating and they do not seem to rush to get that done. We will all just keep praying that they get this all straightened out soon.
I love the pictures that you posted. The one with the umbrella filled with flowers is really cut and a clever idea. I have never seen one fixed up like that. That would look cute hanging from the front door. I just do not know how long it would last on there with the kids running in and out.
That is what I was thinking about Ron and his friend. I thought that he was talking to one of his buddies and it turned out to be his nephew. His nephew is not the much younger then we are so they are kind of close. He also teases his wife about the Cardinals. (the baseball team) She is a bigger fan then most people that I know. She watches every game and goes to a game anytime that she can get someone to go with her.
I spent my day with mom today. We did a lot today and got her house cleaned. Kylie went with me and did a lot of work. So one the way home I let her drive. She did really good and I did not get nervous about her driving. I do not know if I was just so tired from working at mom’s today or what was wrong with me. I am hoping that she gets her license soon. The we will have to find her a car to drive. Brook is trying to get her license also. I think that is why Kylie is so interested now. She wasn’t before.
I like wind chimes also. I like the wooden ones that we had and would like to find some more. I do like the other type also and would hang them up on the deck if the dogs would leave them alone. I guess that the noise attracts them and they want to get them.
well that is about all from here. Have a great night. -
Hi DD,
thank you for the anniversary wishes. I love all the pictures that you and Gail have posted. They are so pretty and so happy. We need the sunshine and the flowers. The beautiful old house are really nice also.
Your UPS man must be related to our mail man. That poor man just puts our packages all over the place. He drives me crazy. It is like you have to search for what you are supposed to be getting and there is no telling where it would be. At least he does deliver to our house it is just that he never makes it to the porch or the deck. I hope that you get your package.
It seems like we have gone from really cold to really warm. It is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow and then the temps are supposed to drop. We will see.
I agree that the word diet should be dropped from our vocabulary. With the pressure of having to diet and all those skinny models it gets to be too much. They have not said much about dieting at the doctors office here. They just say to eat less and healthier. So at least that does make you feel a little better. In the summer we seem to lose a lot of weight because of just eating what is in the garden.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night. I am praying that you get a good decision on help for you rehab.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
You make a very good point talking about setting small weight loss goals. Otherwise the idea is just too daunting.
I hope you get your Philosophy soon. If you keep getting the run around from UPS I would call the Q and tell them what is going on. Anyway, when you finally get it I hope you love it!
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
It’s funny I had picked that picture with the umbrella several days ago and yesterday on Megan Kelly they showed how to make one-however, I wasn’t really paying attention. lol They also showed how to make a butterfly wreath. That did get my attention. lol I liked the flowers in the gardening boots too. I wonder if you could actually put water in the boots for the flowers without it leaking.
That’s funny that your dogs tried to get the metal wind chimes. That’s the kind we have and our dogs never really paid attention to them. Your dogs must have more sensitive ears. lol
That’s funny that Kylie is more interested in driving now that Brook is getting close to getting her license. That made me remember something that i had totally forgotten. My sister is older than me by 4 and 1/2 years. However, she kept flunking her driver’s test and then went away to college where she didn’t really need it so she just put off getting it. Then I was getting ready to get mine and she made me let her go in the day before I was going in so if she finally got it she could still say she had gotten her’s before her little sister. I guess back then it would have been humiliating for me to get mine before she got hers. lol These are the big problems we had when in high school and college. lol If only those were our biggest problems nowadays.
Greg said we have asparagus ready to eat. Boy, that happened fast.
Gail -
Hey Gail!
Still no luck on the wall. If nothing works, I will have to call the landscaper. I know if I do, the price goes through the roof, as he does everything perfect, and very well. You pay for that skill…..LOL
Did Greg know the cake had a “surprise” in it? The decorations are little sugar ones. I ahve a few of those in different patterns- for Halloween Christmas, etc.
It does hurt us when we hear other people think we are fat. When we look in the mirror, we still see the 19 year old young girl, with lots of hair, and big eyes that are not made smaller from the wrinkles, and a thin body. I am continually shocked when I see myself in a picture….LOL
So Gary ahs lost more weight. He is down about 20 to 30 lbs since he had the heart attack- all due to eating veggies more. So….what the hell is wrong here? I have always eaten veggies. He has an appointment with a gastro doctor, as they have seem concern about his colon. I hope there are no issues, as I have had enough for a while.
Did you ever hear any more about the theft? Did you get an alarm system yet?
Hope all are good at your house. All fine here for today.
Adele -
Hey DD!
OMG- I hope you get your nice creams soon. That is just awful. I feel the same you do- there must be a new UPS driver, who does not know you. I hope your old driver comes back to your route soon, so you will not have any more trouble.
that was a very nice post of yours about the word diet. You are right. just the word makes us eat chocolate. It is a lifestyle change that always works. Only thing is, I have changed my lifestyle a million times, and I am still here, in all my chubbiness…..LOL LOL Some days I feel it is hopeless, as I cannot move like I used to and I swear that is the real issue. You need to move to lose.
I was wondering where your posts were, and then I saw Gail’s post on the May page. Too funny.
Love your pictures, all the time. they give us a sunny day, even when it rains. Thank you, for being you- a cheery, cheerleader, for all of us on here, no matter what is happening.
You are good people. We are lucky to have you.
By the way….where is Sue??? Speaking of good people!
Adele -
Hello Girls, hope you have found your lost pkg. by now DD. I have also had this happen to me in fact, more than once. Our delivery man has put our pkgs on someone else’s address; and it said on the tracking that he brought it to us. I called the Q that very day and said I have no idea where it is, but it wasn’t delivered here since we were here all day just like you. They did resend another, and then our grouchy postman (like yours Colleen) puts out mail and pkgs. just wherever he wants down our road. We get things that belong to our neighbors and they bring us things too. Wish I had some youngsters to introduce him to Mr. Mailman snake like the little ones did years ago ha ha You probably missed that story DD, but we live in a very rural area (thats a nice way of saying the country) and our mailman drove an open jeep. He was so grouchy with everyone and these little boys waited until he had just pulled off from their parents mailbox and flung a snake into the back of the jeep. Would have loved to been there when he discovered his “pkg” from his little friends. ha ha Has anyone gotten their hula philosophy waitlist order? I am waiting. I think that we must all have been needing Pablo our poolman when they started talking about it since it seems we all are on waitlist. ha ha
Gail, our husbands must be cut of the same cloth. You have to hear Mr. Jerrys comment on my weight. We are in this long line of folks at a theme park type thing, but lots of older folks as well as young, and anyway, as you go to enter you have to go through this thing that has a pole thing sticking out from it that rotates in a circle as you come through it and I guess it is counting how many people are entering each day. Anyway, he keeps looking ahead of us as others are going through and right as we get up there he says (loudly, I might add) “Barbara, don’t worry if you have to turn sideways it will still let you in” I can only imagine the shock you must be thinking, but knowing him as you know Gary I knew he really didn’t mean anything nearly as terrible as it sounded to the entire park but I just looked at him and said just as loudly, “don’t worry, honey…..I will just climb over if I can’t fit through the gate” and you could hear people laughing, and I know they must have thought boy, is HE ever in trouble. I was totally MORTIFIED, but I come from the old school that has the “philosophy” that kill them with kindness. LOL Jerry can lose weight by eating tons of food, and I can starve and gain. My problem, self diagnosis, is not moving enough to burn off what I do eat, and I am okay with being me. I just feel so badly for all the people who would love to be able to eat but because of sickness or a disability just can’t anymore. I love us in all sizes including Mr. Smith.
Thank God they have a diagnosis for Brent Gail. Now lets get his medicines and help him to get better. Hope everything is okay with Gary, Adele hope your soreness and fall is doing better. Sue, hope you are okay. Miss hearing from you. Take care everyone. Barbara -
Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the kind words about my pkg. I did call the Q customer service & told the lady what was going on. She said if I don’t get it by closing of business Friday, to call back & they’ll send another set. I forgot last winter I ordered a set of 3 throws that never got to Portland, so I called & they sent another set, which I got. Keeping my fingers crossed it comes tomorrow.I’m glad I didn’t offend anyone about the weight loss post. If you break down the word it comes out ‘die-it’. that’s not a word we need in our vocabulary. My Dr. told me I could eat all the chocolate chips I want as long as they aren’t in cookies. lol. I think a lot of our issues comes from our childhood. My grandma & mom both used lard for cooking, frying, baking, either that or bacon grease. and with the discovery of high fructose corn syrup, added to everything that didn’t help any. Growing up I was a string bean, till about the age of 40, then I slowly started gaining weight. I’d been so skinny for so many yrs, I was tickled I was putting on some weight. My family made fun of me when I was so skinny. My bones could kill somebody they said. My hip bone were weapons, as well as my shoulders, & knuckles. So, I think some of it comes from our genes.
Our weather has been really nice this week. We had milky sunshine with high clouds, then bigger clouds came in. Next week we’ll be in the 80s again.Oh, before I forget, if I don’t get back on here, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all of you ladies. Any special plans? Have a wonderful day whatever you do.
Hey Adele, are you rooting for the Boston Celtics in the basketball playoffs? I watched the game tonight & saw them come from 22 pts down to win the game.
My favorite detective is back, Sherlock Holmes, Elementary. I was wondering what happened to it. I have all the Basil Rathbone Sherlock movies on DVD.
Well, that’s all for now.
dd -
Hi Gail,
That would be fun to make the boot and the butterfly wreath. I don’t think that the water would leak out of the boot. They keep water from getting in but not from getting out. It would be nice to have something new to hang on my front door. My snowman is still hanging on my front door. I guess that now it is starting to warm up I need to take him down.
The dogs do not have sensitive ears they just go after anything that moves. Ron hung the wood wind chimes off the railing on the deck and so if they went after them they would fall off the deck. I think that before he hung them there they had got a hold of one of them and that is how the first one cracked. They think if you have anything in your hand or you put out side and it moves you put it there for them. They do not like to find out that it isn’t.
It must be a sister thing wanting to do things first. I guess that when you have a sister younger then you they cannot do something before you do. I only had a younger brother and he was five years younger so it was easy to get my license before him. It would be nice to just have those types of problems now instead of the ones that we have now.
Your asparagus did come in fast. I hope that you enjoy your first serving of them. It sounds like you are going to be eating yours long before we do. We still just have the little spindly ones. We may have to plant some more this year and see if they do better. It takes about 3 years for them to start growing really well doesn’t it. So it will be a while before we will know.lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
It’s funny that when you mentioned that you still had the snowman on the front door that i just remembered that i still have the lights strung on the front porch railing. I keep on forgetting to take them down as if i go outdoors it is usually out back so I don’t see them out there that much. Oh well, they are not lit up or anything but now that the weather is better I won’t freeze when I go out to take them down. I still have to take the snowman plates out of the cabinet and put them in the pantry too. I usually use them through March but this year the time just got away from me.
It does take about three years before you can pick the new asparagus. Maybe if you cut the spindly ones the newer ones will grow in fuller.
Gail -
Hi DD,
Let us know when you finally get your Philosophy delivery. The Q is good about making sure that you get your missing packages.
You know I was about 40 when i started to slowly put on weight. I always thought it was as the kids got older i got less active as chasing the two of them kept me slim. However, i think a woman’s metabolism starts to slow down around that age too.
I love the bouquet of lilacs. Pretty soon i hope to bring one of those into our house.
Gail -
Hi Barbara,
I hate when you have to walk through those turnstyle things too as they are a tight fit and i think it’s humiliating. For goodness sake you have to walk through one to get into the Menards around here. What is the point of that? I always feel like complaining but i figure they would just look at me with the expression like well why are you so darn fat? Luckily I really don’t have to go to Menards that much unless i am with Greg. lol
You do have that sweet southern way of expressing your self. What is the saying-well bless her heart? Layers of undertone in that saying. lol
You know it’s a known fact that men lose weight quicker and easier than women-and if it isn’t I just made it a fact. lol
I suffer from that inactivity syndrome too. I’ve never been a person that did a lot of activity except when I was young. some people enjoy biking or running or stuff like that but I always liked more sedentary pursuits like reading or playing games or watching movies or embroidering. I wish I was more active. My sister is and she is still a tiny little thing like I used to be but she is always on the go. I am more a sitter and a talker. lol
Gail -
Adele,
Yes the landscapers do charge a lot. It cost 900 dollars last summer for them to put pavers in one small area by the pond. I thought it was outrageous but Greg really wanted it so I just shrugged my shoulders.
I did tell him that the cake had some issues so it was stuffed with some sort of candy. lol I guess you worried about the mistakes for nothing as everyone ate it and liked it. I’m sure they just appreciate the home made goodies.
I too am shocked when I see a photo of myself. In my mind i still look like I did when i was 20. The camera tells a different tale though.
Boy Gary lost a lot of weight. Well hopefully after he gets stronger after the salmonella he will feel the difference and it will give him more energy. I hope that everything with the gastro doctor will be okay as he does not need any more issues. And you don’t need anything else to stress about.
We’ve never heard anything else about the theft. I think Greg should email the cop but now that he has his new mower he has forgotten about it-wait until he finds out that the insurance will probably go up. lol Of course if I don’t tell him he will never know as I take care of all that stuff. We still haven’t gotten the alarm system as we have been a bit preoccupied around here. But I have not forgotten as I want to feel secure when we start traveling this summer so it will get done. I just have to schedule a good time to have someone in to consult. My SIL keeps asking me too. She told me she would never stay alone out here. I still don’t mind although I always felt safer when we had the dogs. I miss my buddies after all this time. Rocky will be gone almost two years now and it’s even longer for Abby and Belle.
Gail -
OMG, Barbara!
I nearly peed my pants. Your Jerry is hysterical, or at least he thinks he is. I will bet every woman said he was in a lot of trouble when he got home.
Gary would have said the same thing, only thing is he was about 80 pounds heavier than me for a very long time. So, Gary would have started to yell the line was way too long, and there is nothing worth that wait. And then….we would have left, with me grumbling all the way…..LOL
Gary is better. We were even out in the yard for a few hours with Frankie, getting everything set for summer. Of course, I directed, and Frankie did it all. Gary tried to help a little but Frankie made him sit, in a very nice way. Frankie really looks up to Gary, like a son, and we are so very lucky to have him in our lives. It was nice to get outside and see the birds, and have some laughs.
I ahve such a sweet story to tell you. there were 2 old bird houses that birds were using, so we left them alone. No cleaning out their new nesting materials! When Frankie put up a house near one of them, the bird sat on the new house, peeked inside the hole, and went in to check it out. I got such a kick out of that!
then, later the man who came to see about the wall came by, and we loved him. He is a fireman. My new neighbor uses him, and he did work for 2 of my other neighbors. Well. We went over to see the disaster of a wall, and he shows me a Robin’s nest , with 3 beautiful blue eggs in it- above the wall, in one of the bushes. the poor mummy bird was having a fit. You had to hear her quacking at us. Of course, we did not touch it. I was so thrilled, with these 2 bird sightings today, they will carry me through any trouble coming my way.
I love the mailman snake story. Don’t you wish you knew his reaction when he saw it? Why are such nasty people in this world??
Love, Adele -
Hey DD
You never offend. You always have words of encouragement. we all hate diets, as they never work.
I was always a chubby kid. I think ti was because my Mom lived during a war, when they could not get food, so she made dam sure I had way too much. Wait till I see her tomorrow, I will have to yell at her….LOL LOL
I was think fro a while. Let me tell you, I hardly ate anything to stay thin, and was on the brink of passing at at any given time. I am just not made to be thin. I have to starve myself to be thin, as i gain at the drop of a hat. I would have no breakfast, and eat an apple for lunch, and a very tiny dinner. My stomach was always growling. My parents were freaking out all the time, as they were afraid I would get sick. Eventually, I let up a little and gained back a few pounds, and stayed there for a while. Then motherhood arrived, and aging. So done.
Read my post to Barbara, as I know you will get a kick out of my story for today.
Hope you will be watching our favorite guy…..
Adele -
Gail and Colleen….
well…. we hid our 2 nutcrackers and the Halloween outside guy in the shed for the snowblower today….LOL
Adele -
Hey Gailster
I would miss the dogs too. they are company, and make you feel safe when you are alone.
So….the price for the wall is 2000.00. I knew it was going to be up there, especially after I saw the mess the carpenter made, and left. There is no other way, than to rip the rest down, and start again. I hope we ahve enough rocks, as they were close to 400.00. I look at it this way. The wall lasted 26 years, and this one will be up until I am long gone. Only thing is, there will be no new mattress, nor kitchen floor, as between the mess outside, and the oil tank, there are my 2, 0% financing projects for this year.
The oil tank is being installed on Monday. Way too early in the morning for me! I ahve to be up and dressed by 8:00 am. Dam.
Read my post to Barbara for the good bird news of the day.
I am pooped, so signing off for tonight.
Adele
PS…have to get ready for Tom. he does not care what I look like…LOL LOL -
Hi Ladies,
FINALLY!!! My Philosophy came today, & it was the regular guy this time!! Yay! Boy that big bottle is huge!! I won’t run out any time soon, that’s for sure.
Adele, I enjoyed your stories about the birds. the one about the robin reminded me of when I was living back in Albany. I was staying with someone & there was a robin’s nest under the eves of the patio. When she’d see me standing at the patio door I could see her freeze up. But we didn’t bother her. She left after her brood left the nest.
I almost choked when I saw how much it was going to cost you for that wall! All I can say is WOW!!
Well, that’s all I got for tonight.
Have a grrrrrrrrrrrreat weekend.
dd -
Hi DD,
I am glad to hear that your Philosophy has arrived. It was nice that your old delivery guy delivered it. It is hard to get use to a new guy and have him deliver the way the one you were use to did. I hope that made sense. Did you get the coconut or did you get the Hula. I still have not got any word on the Hula girl and when it when it will be delivered. I hope that we get it soon.
The pictures went well with what Adele was talking about. It is fun to watch the baby birds hatch and fly out of the nest. We had a bird that use to build her nest under our deck. Our deck is up high so she would build her nest on the boards that were underneath. She left after the wasps started building their hives under there. I know that wasps will kill humming birds but wonder about other birds. Will have to look that up and see.
How are you coming along with your rehab? Have they decided in your favor or did they turn you down. That is terrible that they can stop you from something that could really help you. This insurance is getting ridiculous.
I like the Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone. It is hard to watch when there is someone else playing the part. I do not think that newest one plays him. I cannot think of his name right now. You are lucky to have all of the movies with him in them. Robert Downy Jr. is who I was thinking of. He is not good in that part at all.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I am sorry that I did not answer your last e-mail. I could not find it and it is in the April posts. So by now all of that is old news. Sorry about that it really aggravates me when I miss one.
Well at least you will get that wall put up and it will be done. The other guy that was supposed to do it should give you the money back. This new guy sounds like he might be really good and will do a good job. When is he supposed to start working on the wall. That is a lot of money though but if he does a good job it will be worth it.
Frankie sounds like a really nice kid. It was nice of him to come and put the things out in the back yard for you. Are you putting the pool up again this year? It was really nice that he put everything where you wanted it and listened to you. That is a rare quality in a person now days. It is nice that you have your new bird houses up now and the birds will start to nest in them. It sounds like they will do that soon. It is fun to watch the birds build their nest and the eggs hatch. Those poor baby birds always look so pathetic until they start getting their feathers.
Ron loses weight really easy also. I wish that I could it as easy as him. The only way that I lose weight is to get sick and now I am having trouble keeping off. It is a struggle no matter what you try to do.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen
p.s. How is Tillie? Did Steph take her drivers test? -
HI Barbara,
Yep your mailman is like ours and now our ups man does the same thing. I am thinking about reporting him the next time that he does that. I am getting tired of it. Ron has wanted me to report it a long time ago but I always think that it could get worse if I do. I do not know how but it could. I wish that we had the boys that threw the snake in the back of the mail truck. That would have served him right.
Men just do not think before they speak. Ron would still be eating potato soup if he made a comment like that. Since we have gotten older he is not a skinny minny either. SO he would have no room to talk. I am sure that all the women in that line were thinking the same thing. You are going to get it when we get home.
well that is about all from here. I have been living a boring life here lately. Have great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
It sounds like we are all a little late at putting our Christmas things away. It just came so soon this year and I do not know why. I guess because there was so much going on and we did not get a lot of things done that we wanted. Well and that little tree really threw me off.
My mom is having the same problem with a bird that you are having with your cardinal. This is a robin and it flies into her window with it’s feet and wings. He does it over and over again and we cannot figure out why. I have never seen a bird do this. He hits her window side ways. So he will hit with his wings. He does this all the time and mom wanted one of us to chase it off with a broom. I do not think that would work but she is getting tired of it. It makes a loud noise when he does it too. We really have some strange birds flying around now.
Did you get all that rain yesterday that we had? I do not know if it went up your way or not. I know that it went into Illinois and was supposed to be in Chicago. It rained really hard.
Well that is about all from here. We are really boring around here tonight. We have not done much at all. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hey DD
That is exactly what the Robin’s nest looks like. the color of the eggs is so pretty.
I hope to go out on the deck for a bit today, so I can see if the Robin goes back and forth to the nest, and see if the birds have found the food in the feeders. Every time I put them out for the first time, it takes a few days before they take the seed.
I am glad you got a kick out of my bird stories.e
I am thrilled you finally got the Philosophy creams. Those huge bottles last a long time, whihc is great.
I was and was not surprised by the cost. I knew because the carpenter took it apart, it was goign to cost more. I was ready for it, but, not pleased, as he cost us more than we would have paid had he not touched it. I think what he did was mean. he also left all the debris from fixing the fence, which he was to take away. Now, we have to deal with that too. Oh well. It is what it is, as I say. As long as everyone here is still alive, that is all minor.
Hope you have a nice day! Loved Blue Bloods last night. I hope Jamie and his partner get together.
Adele -
Hi Colleen
As far as I know, Steph has not done the appointment. I think she will keep it quiet,a s she is afraid she will flunk again. That way, nobody will know until she has the license. She is still very embarrassed about the last time.
This guy for the wall is really good. He has done work for 3 of my neighbors. Read my post to DD for the rest of the wall stuff….LOL
I miss some posts too, when I am not on in a day, and then I hear things I know nothing about. Some days are too crazy here to catch up with everything.
Like yesterday. First Frankie was here, then the wall guy, then Heather, and later Marissa came by. It is like grand central station some days.
I will be so glad when the oil tank is done. that only leaves the back wall, and hopefully we will have peace form any further repairs for w a while.
I hope you all have a good weekend. We had some nasty storms that passed over us. I got woken up last night by a huge gust of wind. Thank God it did no damage.
Adele
PS…hope your Mom and Mandy are doing g -
Hi Adele,
I wonder if she just gets too nervous and worries about what the family will think if she flunks it again. That can make taking the test really hard and she needs to try and not think of all that. I hope and will pray that she passes this time around. She may surprise you and come driving up the the house in her car.
That is terrible that the guy left all the debris there for you to clean up. He should at least come and clean that up.I think that you were right about that guys back. He was getting around too good for it to have been his back. I wonder what doctor he went to for his back. He must be a miracle worker if the guy felt that much better that fast. We need to go to him. I wonder if Frankie would get rid of the debris for you. Maybe he knows a place that he can take it and it will not cost a lot to dump. This has just really been a mess for you. Not something that you needed right now. Like you said thou everyone is home and alive. You all sound pretty healthy right now also.
How is Gary doing now? I hope that he is following his diet that you have been doing for him. Has he gone back to rehab? That is good that he is losing weight but that is because you are cooking things that are good for him and he is not eating a lot of junk. You take such good care of everyone in your family. I hope that Tillie is doing okay. My mom is doing really well for just having a stroke. She has no restrictions of what she can do. She can go back to normal as soon as she feels up to it. She just has to take it slow. Our mom’s are amazing.
Well that is about all from here. Hope that you have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen!
Well, we are back to gloomy again today. Heather is supposed to come over this afternoon, to introduce us to the new boyfriend. Everyone has mixed feelings, as it is never long between one ending and one starting. She has been alone since October. This one has the same name as her brother, so it is going to get real confusing. She started dating him in February, or March. He is in school to be a chef. This is something he has always wanted to do.
Gary is doing ok. he is very disgusted with how exhausted he is all the time, form doing the most minor of things. His doctor said that’s normal.
I am so glad your mom is doing so well after the stroke. She is very lucky. I know you are thrilled she is ok, as I would be too.
How has Ron been doing with Mandy and the kids there? Is he having fun being a stay at home grandpa? LOL
Tillie is ok. the doctor gave her a new cream for the psoriasis, as the one he gave her was very greasy, and she did not like to use it. I hope this one works better for her.
The funniest thing happened early this morning. I heard this weird animal noise outside. I had put a big jar of cashews out on the lawn near the bird bath, as they were stale, and I felt it would be awful to just throw them away. (I got them unsalted, and Gary refused to eat them) I figured the squirrel and chipmunk would get them. Well, I could not see, but knew there was a lot of moving fur in the birdbath. It was a squirrel, making the oddest sound. he woudl roll around in the birdbath, then get some nuts and roll around again. Eventually, he started to bury some nuts in the garden, and I went back to sleep. I guess it was a good call to set those cashews outside….LOL
One of our customers will take the wood pallet, and the wood posts from the fence, as they are cedar. The rest we can disguise in the trash, so it will be picked up. Accept the wet bag of cement. nobody can disguise that. He left the cement out , and when it rained, it got ruined. Itis heavy, so we may have to take that to the Town dump ourselves. Oh well.
I hope your day is going well. I am watching ITKWD.

Hi Ladies,
How’s everybody’s Sunday going? I have Philosophy on right now. I was a bad girl this morning & ordered the new HP computer, in Rose gold. I debated for quite sometime, as my computer is acting up. I can’t play Q2 or any video that comes thru my FB page. It says something about the network not cooperating. I don’t understand as it worked for all this time up until a few months ago. So I’m hoping the new one will allow me to play Q2 or the videos I get occasionally. I went back to my account, & I couldn’t find when I got this one. It goes back as far as 2016 & no further. I just noticed the battery was at 60 per cent, & it’s plugged in, so maybe it’s a good thing I’m getting a new one.
Adele, it sounds like the squirrel was in hog heaven with those nuts you put out there. I’m glad you enjoyed the pics of the birds & nest. Nature is so interesting to watch. What cha think of the volcano in Hawaii. I can’t believe someone would be SO STUPID as to go to within 10 ft of that thing erupting!!!
The closest I wanna be is watching it on TV.
I’m recouping from my big day yesterday. I went out to Wally’s & did some shopping. It’s not so bad getting there, it’s the trip home that can be tiring.
I’m glad to hear your moms are doing well. It’s encouraging to see them do well.
It’s pretty boring out here.
Have a great week!!
dd -
Hi Adele,
This boyfriend will be nice to have since he can cook. Maybe she will get some really good meals while she is dating him. Maybe you will also. So what did you think of him? I hope that he is a nice guy and he does not hurt Amanda.
Some days Ron does really well with the kids being here and others he gets really upset. They do not like to turn the lights off when they go anywhere or the fans. So he has to go in and turn everything off in their rooms and that is irritating to him. He does not understand why they do not do that every time. I keep reminding him that our girls were the same way when they were the grand age. He has just forgotten.
Our mom’s are doing so well. I am glad that Tillie got a new cream to us on her psoriasis. At least this one will not be so greasy and she will feel more comfortable. Mom is not wanting to keep going to her primary care doctor. She does not do much anymore so mom wants to change. They say that she is acting really strange and it is bothering mom. So we are going to have to find her a new doctor which may be a problem. I do not like all these new insurance rules.
You really made that squirrel happy. I wonder if he shared them with any other squirrel or chipmunk. That is funny that he was burying them in your garden. Hopefully none of the other animals sniff them out and eat them. Our dogs would be going crazy over that squirrel and so would the cat. we do not get as many little animals in the yard like we use to. Austin would not chase them but Snoopy will. He is the young one and Austin is so old that he just wants to lay around. He does like to chase my neighbors cattle though. I know that if he keeps that up he will end up getting shot. That is a major no no around here. We had to put him in the pen tonight.
That is nice that you have someone that will take the wood. That is terrible that guy left the cement in the rain and now it is too hard to move. I hope that you have someone that can pick that up and you and Gary do not try to do it. You could really hurt yourself and it would not be good for Gary to do that either.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi DD!
I am thrilled that you got a new laptop. You deserve it. Go DD!! Retail therapy is good for you. We all need some once in a while.
i love the pics of the squirrels. I didn’t hear the squirrel this morning. I think he and his friends ate all the nuts. I will have the chubbiest squirrels in the state.
Is Wally’s like Walmart? Glad you got back in one piece. It is hard to ride back home when you are so tired.
That little bird the squirrel is looking at is the kind I get in the bird houses. They are so cute. I get a lot of the tiny yellow birds in the bird feeders. They are all very happy, now that the feeders are full.
The sun is shining up here. It is also very noisy, as the oil tank is being changed as we speak…..LOL
Hope your day is nice and sunny too.
Adele -
Hi Colleen
It seems the new boyfriend is a nice guy. He is very low key, and easy to talk with. So, that is all good so far. At least I did not get any “creepy feeling” from him, like I did the one who beat her up (Tony) . There was something about him I did not trust, even though everyone else liked him. So, I hope this relationship remains good. It woudl be nice for Heather to stay with this guy, and have a permanent relationship for the rest of her life, if it works out. That is why Amanda gets mad at her. She feels Heather likes them in the beginning, and then, something always goes wrong, and they are gone. Sometimes it is them, and then it ends badly, and sometimes she realizes they are not what she is looking for. Soooooo, Amanda feels….why get to know them as they will not be aorund for long?
I would be a little nervous about a doctor change at this point. Your Mom’s doctor knows her, and has a history with her. At our Mom’s ages, it would be scary to start fresh with a new doctor. Do you think any of her anger is from the stroke? Or, does she feel her doctor dropped the ball before she had the stroke? I hope this all works out for the best for your Mom.
Tillie turns 92 tomorrow. Imagine? Dam! who turns 92 these days? I know I will never get there, with this chubby body…..LOL
Our grands do the same thing. No matter what room JJ is in, the lights are on, and they stay on after he leaves. What is up with that? Sometimes I think they are afraid in the dark.
Hope your day is good. Our is noisy, as they are here changing the oil tank. I will be quite happy knowing this job is done and over. One more to go! the wall will not be started for a month, as the “rock man” is very busy, because he is very good. That is ok, as it is outside, and no bother when they will be here.
hope your day is sunny and good!
Adele -
Hope all of you are doing good. It is HOT in Tenn. today. But now that I’ve said that; it really isn’t so bad; it’s just that Jerry gets SO hot if it is over 75 degrees; and he just breaks out in a sweat, and is wiping his face with a cool cloth. So, I was okay, but knew he wasn’t so on goes the AC and up goes our bill. He and I are doing great all things considered, but we are like two old cats with their tales tied together. If he says right, I say left, well you get the picture. This is the same man who told me just a few days ago that we should just sell our home, but an AirStream motor home and just travel from one park to another until we just can’t go anymore. I know we all go through our ups and downs, whether it be a spouse, a friend, a relative; but I think most of it is my “fault” right now. Even though I put on this brave face to the world that this wedding is not bothering me about not being able to attend, it really just crushes my heart to know that all our sons and dil’s, little one will all be there but us. Gail, I am still putting my plans for the “after” party, but even that doesn’t seem to lift my spirits enough. Jerry has said several times that he can drive us to California, but I know he cannot, and we would be halfway there and him in terrible pain, and in the middle of some desert with no one to help us. I am willing to chance a flight, but know that he would only be able to sit in first class in order to give him more room to almost lie down as we fly. I wish you all could see how far his seat leans back while he drives; it is as far back as you can make it go, and almost touches the back seat. SO I guess you could say that I am experiencing some resentment and can’t seem to “fix” this. I am so mad that Lisa (and in all fairness, Joey) couldn’t have at least had the wedding half way between Ca. and Tenn. so we at least could make it. We talked to Neal this morning and he was saying he was fitted for his tuxedo Sat. I wanted to just bust out crying, but didn’t. Sorry girls, not a good day but yet, it is a very good day and I know it.
Colleen, I remember for about a year after my stroke, I cried and cried. It would just happen, it didn’t have to be caused by anything. Finally the dr. told me it was due to the stroke, and it might last a while for forever, but at least I understood what was going on. That is just so good that she has done so well. I know she gets frustrated, but what a blessing she is about to celebrate her birthday, or was that your mom Adele? In either case, it’s wonderful. Jerrys Mom is doing really well. We are doing a Mothers Day lunch for her on Saturday. She is excited. I went into town today and ordered a wrist corsage for her to wear. It was almost impossible to find, with all the prom things going on.
So glad your wall is finally getting done, Adele. It is do discouraging when a contractor stops in the middle of a job and leaves his mess for you. That has happened to us. We were replacing our roofing, and he just ups and calls and says he isn’t coming back. He had done less than 1/3 of the roof, and we had a heck of a time finding someone to finish the job. Plus of course they charged us more.
Well, I am sorry girls, I better go before I start feeling sorry for myself again and take it out on you all. DD, happy for you getting your new computer. Hope it lets you play your games and keeps the kitty happy sitting on it when its closed. Auto kitty loves a warm computer. ha ha
Take care, I am watching a new baking show that starts tonight, the best baker in Americal I think its called, on the food network. Love, Barbara -
Hi DD,
I am glad that you got a new laptop. It looks like a really nice one. Have you always had a lap top or did you have a desk top? I have a desk top because that is what I am use to. i have a lot of trouble with a lap top and messing it all up all the time. I have used my daughters once in awhile but not often. I think that it is because of them not wanting me to.lol
That volcano is really scary. I have not heard how many more people were hurt or lost. I hope not any. That is just so scary and all this crazy weather we are having it is all strange. I hope that it gets better soon and we have some normal weather.
I really liked the squirrels especially the one with his head stuck in the pumpkin. That looks like the ones that we have around here. Our squirrels really drive me crazy. They run right right out in front of the cars and then they get hit. Some of them start to run out and then run back and do that until they make up their minds. The animals are acting nutty also.lol
I am still waiting for my Hula Girl and wish they would get that back in stock. There must have been a lot of people that ordered it. That would be a mess if we cannot get it and there is nothing to replace it. I should have ordered the coconut also.
It is boring here also. There is not much to do but on Wednesday I have to go to mom’s and help her. I think that we are cleaning out closets. That will be a lot of fun.
Well that is about all from here have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I am glad that you like Heather’s boyfriend so far. Maybe he will be the one that will stick with her or she will stick in there with him. I imagine it is hard to pick that right guy now. Was Tony the one that could work on the air conditioner or was that Enzo? I know that I spelled his name wrong. Well I hope that this one works out.
It is scary for her to change doctors right now but her heart doctor is her main doctor here lately. Her regular doctor did not even look at the things that the hospital sent for her to look at when mom went to see her. It is the same with the home health. They told mom to take the records with her that they were keeping and see what she thought and she did not look at them either. Her nurse did not even know that mom was in the hospital. You would think that her primary care doctor would know that. It is just something not right with this right now.
You know there seems to be a lot more people that live to be in theirs 90’s. Mom will turn 96 in November so they are both getting up there in age. I know one thing my mom is stubborn and we better do what she wants. This may be from the stroke also. Either is that are from having 5 kids. Either one would drive you crazy.
It could be the kids are afraid of the dark. At night out here it gets pitch black because there are no street lights. We have the motion lights but they do not come on that often. Not often enough for the kids to feel comfortable. I guess they will all grow out of that one day. The only trouble with mine they will be in ther 30’s or 40’s before they stop.
Tell Tillie that I said Happy Birthday!! Do you have something special planned for her birthday? She is lucky that you will all be there to help her celebrate.
I hope that they get all of your work done around you place. that is a lot to have to have done at once. At least this guy sounds like he will do a good job on the wall.
Did you get to see the new quacker show? It was pretty good and they are showing it on face book. I do not know if you can watch on face book but they are showing it on there. If we ever lose that channel we will be out of luck.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
I found an interesting article on my google app today about David Veneble. I wanted to forward it to all of you but I couldn’t. But I did find out a website you can go to. Goodhousekeeping.com is the website. I sent it to my ‘FB page but since no one has a FB page I couldn’t forward it.LOL, Adele, when I refer to Wally’s, that is WalMart. Wish your mom a Happy 92nd birthday for me. Having a party for her?
Barbara, I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad right now. Sending big hugs out to you. and don’t feel you can’t vent on here when you need to. That’s what we’re here for, a shoulder to cry on.
that’s all for tonight.
take care.
dd -
Hi Barbara,
I am sorry to hear that you are still having trouble with the wedding. It was not right that they did not talk to you and Jerry before they made up their minds. I hope that Joey and Lisa will be happy. Does it help any for you to just start to plan for the party after they get home? That would be fun for you to get that all together and figure out who you are going to ask. I would go ahead with the grooms cake if that is what you want to do. It all sounds like it will be fun. Are you going to have finger foods or a dinner? One thing that I am good with is food and snacks. lol
We have been watching out for the way that mom acts. She is just mad at her primary doctor and says that she is not doing her job. I think that we are all beginning to agree with her. Her doctor did not know that she was in the hospital and did not read any of the notes and reports that they sent with my mom to show her. So she may be right just do not know.
That is Adele’s mom that is about to celebrate her birthday. My mom will not celebrate until November. My dad was born in September the same year as my mom so they were the same age. I guess that I repeated myself.
I have been so grumpy on here tonight. I guess my day is not going well. It has just been crazy. How nice that you are doing lunch with Jerry’s mom for Mother’s Day. She will really enjoy that. I am glad that you found a corsage for her. This is a bad time of the year to try and find one with all the activities going on.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Barbara
This is where you can cry, and yell, all you want. We got you!
How about some retail therapy, per order of the Gailster. Or, baking, per me. Or both! It sound slike something very chocolaty and mushy is in order.
It is awful that you cannot attend. The plans being shared with you ( with good intentions) are cutting right through your heart. I know how you feel, as when Amanda graduated from high school, and had her Prom, I had my knee replaced. At least they were able to come by, before the prom and after graduation. But, I still cried like a baby before, and after, as I felt so miserable missing it all. Still, a wedding is far more important, and not at all comparable to graduation or Prom. then add that I at least got to see them in person. At least you have face time. It is almost like being there. Maybe one day they will invent a thing where we can reach through the computer, and kiss them. Wouldn’t that be nice? Maybe your little Colin will invent that, becasue of how much he misses touching you and his Papa.
Well, it is Tillie’s 92ond birthday. I told her she has to live for 19 more months, so she can attend my 70th birthday celebration. LOL can you imagine a 70 year old woman having her 94 year old mother at her birthday celebration? I think it would be a hoot!
So, Marissa and Enzo both had the day off, and they came by with the 27.00 Kane’s donuts…..LOL And….they brought Luna! My mother loves that dog. I will attach a pic I took of Enzo holding Luna. It came out a little wiggly.
So, I went to the derm doctor. It was just as I said, stress. He said it was a “shedding”, as there is no bald spot. It is called “Telosen Effarium”. He said it will stop, and the hair will come back. Also gave me a prescription for Rogaine, in case I need it. He also said if I use the Rogain, by the time that kicks in, my hair will be growing back on it’s own, anyway. Oh well.
Here is a funny for you……so, I told Gary today how old his skin looks in the sun….LOL LOL
I hope you are feeling better. I hope I gave you a chuckle with getting Gary back for the comment on my hair loss.
We love you, Barbara!
Adele
PS…Bobby sits the same way Jerry does…in another zip code in his car. -
Hi Colleen
Please read my post to Barbara for all the news of the day.
Enzo is Marissa’s boyfriend. I am attaching a pic of Enzo with Luna here today, to visit Tillie. they brought donuts….LOL
Heather’s boyfriend who hurt her was named Tony. He is on an ankle bracelet from the court, for what he did to her. The bracelet will come off in a few months. The next boyfriend was Dave, and he was ok, but, that one ended, without incidents.
It is very dark in the country. the girls get scared, from even the slightest noises- Heather too.
that is awful about your Mom’s caretakers. not to mention irresponsible, and dangerous. I hope you find a better doctor, who will show care and empathy!
Did you see DWTS last night? The one young man who is a skater is real good. I bet he will win.
We are doing Tillie’s birthday on Sunday. I am making her favorite, a strawberry shortcake, on Saturday. We got some little pastries for dinner so we have some goodies for her today. Our moms are pretty old, and we are lucky they are still around.
Have a good one!
Adele -
OMG, DD!!
Friend me on facebook! I bet there are less Adele Shanbar’s than Dianne Danielson’s…..LOL
That is funny about Walmart….LOL
The picture you have on the bottom left corner is a wisteria bush. I have one, but it doe snot get that many flowers. The flowers on it are so pretty. Gary hates that bush, as it goes everywhere. he tried to kill it twice, by cutting it all the way down. All that did, was make it grow wider….he is not a gardener, so he had no idea what he was doing.
Please read my posts to Colleen and Barbara for all the new news……
Love ya!
Adele
PS…isn’t Luna cute??? She is such a good puppy. She does not bark at all, even when they had her outside, and the dog next door was FREAKING out.Colleen
Forgot to say…..I missed most of the show. I cannot get the Q2 shows up here at all.
Love ya.Adele -
Hello Everyone,
It’s a warm sunny day here in Illinois. The rains will come later in the week but that will be okay as the garden is planted so rain is good.
DD you mentioned being in Albany. Was that Albany NY? If it was I didn’t know you lived out east once.
That rose gold lap top is really pretty. I just had to get a new tablet but the one I wanted only came in black. I was wishing it came in some metallic colors. But I really like it and it works so much better than my old one. I hadn’t realized how bad my old one had gotten until I got the new one.
Actually I think some of the ladies are on Facebook. Colleen and I aren’t but I think everyone else has a page. Colleen and I are the last holdouts in the world I think. lol
Barbara, you know sometimes I dream of getting a motorhome and driving around the country to see all the places I haven’t yet seen. And then when we get done I can write a book about the experience. lol I love road trip books.
You know Barbara you can only do what you and Jerry are capable of doing. So please try not to feel bad. Even though you are missing the actual wedding you are the ones that have Joey and Lisa living right done the lane all the rest of the year. So maybe thinking of that will help. And I guess if things are being done traditionally the wedding is usually held in the home town of the bride and maybe no one really remembered that travel was an issue for you and Jerry. I know first class is really expensive but if you had the money you could try going that way. Too bad you don’t have any friends who are flight attendants. We have friends who flew first class on their friends flight attendant buddy pass all around the world. I believe they just paid the taxes and something else but they flew all over that way for next to nothing.
Colleen, did you get the closets all clean. After you’re done come help me do mine. I keep getting started and then interrupted so I now have messes all over the house. I hope your Mom’s bird went away. Knock wood (I’m banging my own head right now) our cardinal has not been back this spring. Is Austin a cattle dog or a blue heeler? Either way he has that herding instinct so that’s probably why he tries to chase the cows.
Adele, I can’t believe the fence guy left the cement and it got rained on and got hard. Grrrr! that would make me so mad and now you’re stuck with trying to get rid of it plus it’s a waste of a bag of cement.
Please wish Tillie a Happy Birthday!
What’s her favorite cake?
I agree, the kids just don’t think about leaving the room and turning out the lights. It’s just not on their radar. The thing that used to get my goat was the half finished cans of pop lying around.
Greg has rehearsal tonight so I don’t have to think about what to feed him. This no carb thing is a pain in the rump as we were always kind of meat, potato and vegetable dinner eaters. Even a sandwich is an issue. If we have hamburgers he doesn’t eat the bun. I do admire his dedication as I couldn’t do what he has been doing but it’s very restrictive and not the way I am used to cooking. Oh well. He’s trying to be healthy so I will learn to deal. This is a place where I can come to gripe a little and no one gets hurt in the process.
Gail -
Hello Girls! I got most of you in my “down in the dumps” lovely mood, and I am going to do better today. I will be so honest with all of you right now. I am so upset with the wedding because I just don’t feel in my heart of heart that Joey is really in love with Lisa. I pray everyday that they are doing what is right for each other and they DO love one another. I think because this last 15 (can you believe this?) years they have tossed one another back and forth has been years they both have wasted but I so want to be wrong; please God let me be wrong. I think if I could just feel this in my heart that no matter what else comes along; I can face it with a smile; no matter how phony a smile it might have to be LOL. So that is really whats wrong with this deflated old soul; and I really thank you all for your support. You know; as I find myself looking back at life I see so many mistakes I’ve made; and isn’t it something how we want our children/grands not to do the same thing we chose to do when younger? Guess I really am almost 70.
Ms. Tillie is quite the birthday girl. She must feel so loved to have so many family close and not to mention the strawberry cake. That is one of my absolute favorites, Adele. Tell her to save me a bite ha ha Jerry got a call today about his moms medicine being due at the pharmacy, and he told me when he hung up that it makes him catch a breath when he sees the care homes’ name on the phone, thinking something might be wrong. I told him, Jerry, your Mom really seems happy now and I know she likes to visit with some of the other ladies, and she has been there long enough to form some real friendships with a few of them. He made me laugh; when he was telling me that one of the men who lives in their cottage used to be on a lot of the old time westerns, and that some of the ladies get jealous when he sits at their dinner table instead of with them. I thought jealousy in the 90 somethings. Jerry said he is kind of bossy, but I told him its probably because he was so used to being treated so well when he was famous in the movies and TV shows.
I have the Q on while I am writing you all, and little Suzy G. has shown about 10 tops with the “cold” shoulders. You all may have some; but I need to cover my upper arms. Mine look like bat wings. And I have always been told I have “broad” shoulders; whatever the heck that is supposed to mean. I can’t help but wonder why there are not ever any 2 or 3X size models? I know that the older lady named Marie (younger than me I;m sure) said she is a XL, and so does Carolyn G. but it just doesn’t seem right to me. Mabey I just need some extra heavy duty Spanx. But then I couldn’t breathe.
Gail, my IPad is about 6 years old. I bet I really would enjoy a new one. Things have changed so much. DO you listen to audible books or do you just download the book? I want to download some, but I LOVE to read at night; and I really need some not to bright light within the device.
Love all the pictures. You are so upbeat DD and have such a wonderful outlook on life. I bet Tillie did love the puppy dog. I am a firm believer that having animals around helps us feel better. You just can’t help but smile.
Little Bit facetimed us yesterday. He just jabbers away, and Jerry and I will say “what else happened? or tell us all about it” and he will just go on and on. He is a ray of sunshine for us. Neals 34th birthday is on the 20th; so I am baking him a German chocolate cake; packing it up in dry ice after I freeze it overnight, and shipping it off to him as a surprize. I have looked on wiki links on how to pack it, and Jerry is going to help me. It has been 1 1/2 years not since we were with him; and I think he misses this cake for his birthday so much. Sure hope me and the mr. can pull it off. I ordered the baby a stick horse today like the boys had when they were little. It makes clopping sounds and whinneys. Hope he likes it and I think he will.
Everyone take care and know you all are in my heart. We will all help each other with our own challenges. So glad you are doing so well with your rehab, DD. Just be careful. And try not to let Gary get too frisky and overdo himself Adele. The turtle was slower but he won the race. Love, Barbara -
Hi Barbara,
You have had this uneasy feeling about Joey and Lisa for a long time. We had the same feeling about my oldest daughter and her first husband and they did end up divorced but we did get a beautiful grandson. So something good did come from it. Just try to think of the good things that could come from this right now and forget about the other things. Those are just things that you cannot change. They have to figure this all our for themselves. It is hard to keep our mouth’s closed but that is all that we can do.
What is with all these tops with the holes in them. If I have a sleeve in my top then I do not want holes in it. I would wear a tank top then. They have the cold shoulder and the ones with the hole on the side don’t get me started on the tops with all the holes in the flowers and designs. Some of those little holes show a little too much. That is like the one with the grommets. The holes along the bra line show your bra strap. Just what I wanted to do show off my bra strap and going without one would be even worse. Then the girls would be flopping all over the place and hitting my knees. They do not stand like they use to.
That is funny that they have a heart throb at the nursing home. I bet that he eats that up all the ladies being jealous of him. He must be a character. Does he sit at Jerry’s mom’s table much?
I hope that shipping the cake to Neal will work out okay. You will have to let us know if it got there in edible condition.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
We had a lovely day today but the rain returns for a couple days, then gets down right hot over the weekend!! Mother’s Day looks like 86 right now.
Barbara, I’m glad you had face time with the baby. they always cheer you up. I know you’re concerned about your son, & future dil, but they’re adults now & they have to learn from their mistakes. Not having kids myself, I can’t put myself in anyone else’s shoes. I know kids have to make their own mistakes, & hopefully learn from them. Hindsight is always 20/20. None of us has a crystal ball to see into the future, but then again we probably wouldn’t want to see the future. I’m probably not making any sense. I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings. Big hugs!!
I don’t like those cold shoulder tops at all. I prefer my shoulders warm, not cold. they look unfinished to me. I don’t watch SG, she talks too much, too fast.Aren’t I awful?! I don’t hate any of them, they just get on my nerves. is there any of the hosts or presenters that get on your nerves or is it me?Adele, if you go to FB & put in my name, all you have to look for is my furry friend as she’s my profile pic. Just like my profile pic on my page on here. I sent you a friend request so hopefully it came thru. I think my FB page also says, Portland, Or. And I’ll get on my broom & fly out for the strawberry b/day cake. Never had it. I’ve had strawberry shortcake, since where I grew up there were lots of strawberry fields/farms. Kids used to pick berries every summer for school clothes.
Speaking of cities/towns, Gail, no I’ve never lived in Albany, NY. I was referring to Albany, Or., sorry. I went to NYC a few times back in the 80s, but that’s as close to the East coast as I’ve gotten. lol. I’m a native Oregonian. I did live in Ca. just after high school. I lived with my sister & nephew back in the late 60s early 70s. We lived in a suburb of Sacramento, in Roseville back then. We moved back to Oregon so I could go to beauty school.
I’m glad everyone enjoys the pics.
Sue, I sent a friend request to you, too so I hope it went thru.
It’s getting late so I’ll sign off for now.

Hi Adele,
That is nice that Marissa brought you and Gary some of those donuts. I cannot believe how expensive they are. They must be really good or people would not spend the money to get them. I hope that you enjoyed the donuts and the company. Does Tillie come upstairs when the kids come or does she stay down stairs and they go visit her.
Luna is a pretty dog. She looks a lot like our dog Snoopy. Our dog has white paws though. Luna is a lot calmer then Snoopy he would never let us hold him like that. He wants down on the ground so he can run. It is nice that Luna is so calm and that way Tillie had pet him and enjoy her being around.
I did not know that you needed a prescription for Rogaine. That is what I need. I do not have any bald spots yet but they are getting there. My mom and my oldest sister has really thin hair and I am afraid that I am headed the same way. But now if you need chin hair I have all that you need.
Wow he must have been a terrible guy to have beat on Amanda like that. He should never get to take off that bracelet. If he has it on his ankle then he will not be able to beat on any other girl. I am glad that he was turned in and he had to pay for beating on her. What makes a guy think that he can do something like that.
I did watch DWTS last night and it was okay. I agree that the skater is going to be the winner. I am not sure what I think of this show. I do not know a lot of the people that are on there. I knew Kareem and Tonya and that is about it. That one girl that got voted off last night was really having a hard time dancing. She did do better in the heels then I thought that she would. She just was not the type to wear ball gowns. She was a lot more comfortable in sport clothes. When they did the team dance she looked a lot more relaxed. Especially since she had her tennis shoes on. I think that I would feel that way also. I do not dress up like that anymore.
Our mom’s are pretty old and we are catching up with them.lol It sounds like you have a couple of good days planned for Tillie. Are they doing anything special for you for Mother’s Day? I have no idea what we are doing. Mandy my have to work so we may just stay home for the day. I do not know if my oldest daughter is coming down here or not. She is being a little stubborn.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
I think that you are right. We are the only hold outs about going on face book. I doubt that I ever will because of what happened to my daughter. I just hear so many bad things about going on there and do not think that it is worth it.
I never got all of my closets cleaned but now I have to start on my mom’s. SO that will be fun. At least it will be stuff that I do not have to decide what to do with. That is what I will be doing all day tomorrow. We will clean out the closet and get it all done and that is about all we are doing tomorrow. Her closet is stacked from top to bottom. She has clothes in there that she has not worn in years and hats that are the same. It will be fun to go thru it though. It will bring back memories.
I do not know what is wrong with Austin right now. He had never chased the cows before he just started this. I am not sure if the people had cattle that had him before us. It is interesting that he would chase an animal that big and he is afraid of a lot of other things. He is a mess. We just do not want him to get Snoopy doing that also. We could really have trouble if he does it.
I was wondering if your bird came back this year. I do not know why this bird is running into mom’s window. You cannot see a shadow in it so that cannot be it. Maybe it is just in his way.
I hope that you enjoyed your night of not having to cook. I love nights when I do not have to cook. You can just eat what you want and not worry about feeding anyone else. It is hard to fix dinner for someone that is not eating what you are. Hope that he gets over this soon and goes back to eating normal. How much weight does he want to lose?
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Gailster
I just had to sign in again, so they must have done some up-dates.
Tell Greg Happy Birthday- saw it on Facebook….LOL
tillie’s favorite cake is a strawberry shortcake. I do a white cake, with the middle drizzled with the juice from the frozen strawberries, then a little strawberry jam on that (bottom layer, and then the whip cream frosting. I also dip the fresh strawberries in boiling strawberry jam (cooled a little first), for the glaze, and they go on top to decorate the cake. Ill take a pic. Pretty sure I put last year’s on here too. they all look about the same.
Years before I made myself crazy doing a glaze, whihc never came out great. then, I saw in a magazine or on The Chew, that if you boil the jam, and let it cool it can be used for a fruit glaze, and comes out much better. i ahve been in strawberry Heaven since then….LOL
I glaze the strawberries the day before I do the cake, so there will be minimum “leakage” from the glaze. Ill take a pic of that too.
It is chilly here. I ahve a beef crock pot dinner going. I am trying to use up the winter meats before it is BBQ time.
You wrote a very nice response to Barbara about the wedding. Well said. I hope it makes her feel better. It is so sad when you cannot get to an event because of your issues, and we all have those. Did I tell you Steph called me “fragile” yesterday? I nearly bust a gut laughing.
Not sure if I said yesterday, the doctor said the hair loss is from continued stress. No stress here….LOL
Hope your day continues to be sunny. It is sunny here, and we have fog warnings up for later.
Have a good night!
Adele
PS…what did Greg want for his birthday? I got an oil tank for Mothers day. -
Hey Barbara
OMG…freezing the cake, and then packing it in dry ice? you won the Best Q Baker award!! Wow, is all I can say. I always wanted to do a German Chocolate cake, and have yet to do it, let alone ship it!!
I have a funny for you. So, as I was dressing the other day, I said to Gary….”look, I now have 4 boobs- two on top, and 2 just under those, holding them up”…..LOL LOL Gary does not find me amusing. I tell him we have to laugh at ourselves. We really do.
I would feel the same as you, if I felt my son was marrying and did no love his fiance. It is an awful feeling, as you anticipate an ending, before the beginning. But, you raised good, smart sons. I do not think he woudl go through with a wedding, if he truly did not love her. Maybe it just took this long to finally figure it all out. That will be in my prayers for you, and your family tonight.
I am so glad you are having a ball with the face time thing. Steph could not be here yesterday, so she sent me a video of the boys saying Happy Birthday to Tillie. Then, I tired to skype her back, and she didn’t answer. I called her later, and she said she got the skype message, and thought she pocket dialed the skype app. Seriously? So, now I ahve to call her first, if I want Tillie to see her and the boys. How funny is that?
I told Tillie all you girls ahve wished her a good day, and she was quite touched. Thank you- all of you!
Did you see Roseann last night, and The Middle? I love The Middle, and I am getting attached to Roseann. Tillie loves the new Roseann show. I think that is funny.
Hope you are having a good day. That story about the old actor at the Nursing home is hysterical. I hope he picks Jerry’s Mom to have dinner with, wy more than the others.
We love you!
Adele -
Barbara and Colleen
I hate the tops with the holes on the arms too. Way too much chubby bits for those.
Well said on the wedding, Colleen. We all have different things we see in all our issues, and that is good for all of us.
Adele -
Hi DD
I got your friend request, and of course, I friended you back!
I think we are getting your rain later in the week. Thank you for sharing….LOL
Also well said on your opinion for Barbara. We each have such different perspectives, and that is good. Please do not feel like your opinion is not valid, becasue you do not have kids. You are still a daughter, granddaughter, and sister. You count, more than you realize. We all love you.
I love that basket of kittens. Gas was .25 when I first learned to drive. Imagine that???
Hope you have a good night. did you see Roseann and The Middle? I got such a kick out of this week’s shows.
Adele -
After reading your notes today ladies; I feel better than I have in months. You are all so right; and I really should remember that there is a silver lining to every cloud; and the young ones are grown; not children for a long time now. I had a good crying spell last night thinking I would miss the mother/son dance. Leave it to the mr. to so eloquently tell me, and please excuse the language, “if those boys feel one damn thing except they have the best mother in the world, then to hell with them” unquote. He added they know what we have and still go through, and if they can’t or don’t help their wives to understand our limitations, then they are not the men we worked so hard to raise. SO; I think this old girl needed a “reality check” and believe you me; Jerry is just the guy to spit it right out. And like you said, Colleen, you all have a wonderful grandchild even though other parts didn’t quite make it; so I am in touch with bakeries in San Diego and have two so far that will do grooms cake; and I plan to order one; and then have Buddy and Neal pick it up and take to the wedding when they get there. I also am asking them to request a song to be played from me to Joey at our dance time.Do you all have any suggestions of a song? Would really appreciate any ideas.
Gail, the after party is going well so far in it’s planning. We are going to rent a tent, picnic tables and lots of lawn chairs (which over the years we have at least 20 of those) do checkered tablecloths, all throw away plates, cups, utensils, and I am hoping since canning season will be in full swing to get lots of canning jars and I will go to Big Lots or Walmart and buy lots of either tea lights, or twinkle tiny lights. Which do you think would be better? Then put red, white, and blue, ribbons on the jars and mabey another pattern of ribbon with some rafia or artificial summer flowers scattered about on the picnic tables. So you can tell I am getting pretty excited about this. Haven’t decided on the menu yet; still wanting it to be as simple as possible, but tasty, and it will be a hot time here in Tn. then.
I thought your boob comment was funny Adele. Tell Gary they must have taken out his funny bone during his last hospital trip. Here is one for you all. Jerry is putting on his Hanes undershirt one night for bed and he is staring down at himself; and I asked whats wrong? He said, I think my “boobies” are bigger than yours now! I told him not possible, mine just hang down so far; so I had on my nightgown and reached down and pushed my “boobies” back up and squeezed them together like those models do; and his poor eyeballs almost popped out. I said “listen mr. don’t get yourself all worked up, you’ll hurt something” ha ha We both had a good laugh, and I think for a moment we both felt young. I had noticed that his chest has gotten bigger as the years have gone by, and after we both had a good laugh he said he remembers the Seinfeld show of how Kramer and Georges Dad invented the bra for men. Then we both started laughing again. So moral to this is that getting older CAN be funny if you look hard enough. ha ha
Have you all ever ordered the Jimmy the Baker cinnamon rolls from the Q? Just wondering, because I was thinking of ordering the twelve and having it sent to Ca. to the kids. I liked you could just pop one or two out and just microwave for I think 30 sec. and then frost. I bet little Colin would love a bite.
Yes, DD there are several guests and hosts on the Q that I just don’t watch or have to mute. I have a blouse from Susan G. that I bet I bought at least 15 years ago; and it looks brand new, but she is so energetic that I just mute her. My blouse is cream with beautiful colorful flowers; not garish, very nice, and has short sleeves and buttons up the front. It has been a favorite for all these years. I can’t watch Shawn, or Lori G. and sometimes even though I like Jane T. and have watched her for years, I think oh please, don’t tell us again about ballet and your frequent trips to NYC. I sound petty, don’t I? But the Q keeps me company, and I love watching In the Kitchen with Dave, and of course all the quacker, unless they put poor Angel with a size 2 and then it seems so forced on the hosts part at times. So much info, sorry.
Well, dear friends, my new plan is back to the night time reading to Jerry, positive thoughts on the wedding, and remember to count each breath as the gift and blessing it really is. THank you again, and if I don’t get a chance to wish each and everyone a happy celebration of our mothering caring nurturing way; I want to tell you all what great women you are, and how much your “mothering” has meant to me. Happy Mothers Day, dear friends. Whomever said, you do not have to have children to be a mother, knew exactly what they were saying.
Barbara -
Hi colleen
I hope you have a nice Mother’s day, even though Mandy has to work. I bet she will celebrate with you when she gets home.
We already know that Amanda the Panda, as I call her, will not be here Sunday, as she will be working at the restaurant. It is Heather who was hurt by Tony, not Amanda. Amanda is my 2ond granddaughter. She is the middle child, between Steph (oldest) and Marissa (youngest). It gets really confused with all the girls’ names over here….LOL
We are lucky our Moms are pretty good. With Tillie’s not be able to see good anymore, and her hearing loss, she does not feel like she is as good as I think she is. your Mom had the stroke, but she has really come back wonderfully from that event, and not many people do. She was blessed, for sure.
I think the Rogaine does not need a prescription. He just wrote the name on one of the pads. I am pretty sure you can get it without anything at all.
How long has your hair been thinning? Has it been gradual, or a lot at a time, like me? That is why he said it was stress, as I have no bald spots, and it is all over the head, and started after Tillie’s eye and close to Gary’s heart attack. These two need to behave, or I am going to be bald.
Those donuts are really good. Very tasty, and they do not sit like lead in your stomach. I guess the next time we get them will be Fathers day….LOL there are a lot of people in this Town who go there for coffee and a donut every morning. I guess those would be their “regulars”.
It was sunny here, but we got a wicked sea breeze that made it very cool. There is supposed to be a lot of fog tonight.
Hope you have a good night.

Colleen
What happened to your daughter on Facebook?
Adele -
OMG Barbara
I am laughing my butt off. If we push our naughty bits together, they would look like they did when we were young. SNL should do a skit on that one.
Bobby was just up here eating dinner late, as he had to work late. So, I arsed him about the segment on Seinfeld, and he remembered it. he thinks they called it the “manssiere”. I loved that show. they do not make a lot like that one anymore.
Trust me, i am definitely not offended by anything Jerry would say. Our filters have gone by the wayside, as we get older.
your ideas sound so pretty. I ahve a visual on a warm Tenn. evening, with the pretty twinkling of lights, the red checked tablecloths, and your FABULOUS food. Anyone on the invite list is a very lucky person. I think either the tea lights, or the twinkling ones are great. It would all depend on the outlets available for the strings of lights.
I also think it is a wonderfully kind and motherly gesture to have the groom cake there at the wedding. Also, how about the song from Fiddler on the Roof? Or, the real tear jerker with the words “dance with my father again”.
I am missing the Goldbers, so I better be going….LOL Ill try to think of more songs. Bobby can’t remember what song we danced to- he said to call his x wife. Isn’t he funny???? He definitely got my sense of humor.
Love ya!
Adele -
Hi Barbara,
Jerry is right. You are a good person and a good mom to your kids. I think that your boys all love you a lot. They just are getting married and are around these other women that want all their attention. So they do what they can to get it. Do not ever let them get you down or make you feel bad. Your sons will love you no matter what.
Good for you Barbara your should get the grooms cake. Joey will be so happy to see it there. Not many people think of the grooms cake. We did not for our x- son in law. I do not know why no one even mentioned one. Even my daughter did not think of that. Whenever I hear about the grooms cake I think of Steel Magnolias. When the grooms uncle make the cake that was some type of animal and all those women at the beauty shop got a good laugh about it. Was it an armadillo? I cannot remember what animal it was. It was funny thought.
The after party that you are having sounds really nice. They will have fun with all of their friends and family that could not go. Maybe Jerry’s mom will be able to come to it for awhile also. Are you going to have music or just have the cd player going. That would probably be the best thing to do. Then if anyone wants to dance they can and you can have your dance with Joey. I am really getting excited for you.
I remember that episode of Seinfeld and the man bra. That was so funny. They had a lot of funny things on that show. You and Adele had me laughing hysterically. That made me think of Ron showing me how to put those bras on that you are supposed to step into on over your head. It was so funny and I missed my opportunity to get a picture. It was funny watching him put it on that way and then how goofy he looked in it after it was on. Do you think that we are all going a little wacky now that we are older? You are doing the boob push and Adele getting ready to push the idea to Saturday Night Live. You two are just too funny.
Have you ever pushed the fast forward button on the remote when Susan G is on? That is really funny because she is just all over the place in fast motion. Now that is when you are really bored when you speed shows up for entertainment. It is really funny though.
One thing that I have learned is to be careful of the books that you buy for your grands. I bought this at the dollar store and you would have thought this book was for little kids and it was in with the little kids books. It was called the baby tree. It got a little more into the baby tree then I really would have thought that they would. My two teen age granddaughters asked me if I really meant to get that for Aliza. So now I have this book and have no idea what to do with it. So beware of any books that you buy that are supposed to be for little kids because you may be surprised.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
We are going to bbq and the girls are going to make all the salads. I will be there to help them but am not going to do a thing. This is part of their gift for their mom. My oldest daughter has her boyfriends mom coming over so she will not come down here. *( I never know what to call her. They are not married so I guess that is the proper term) I will just miss seeing the grands and that really hurts but can see them another time. This is just a rough situation when Mandy has to work and we do not want to leave her alone.
I really got that confused. So it was your daughter that was beat by that guy. He really is a slime. So now your daughter is dating someone else. It is hard to keep track of all the names. It is the same here we have the three girls and now we have the two granddaughters living here. You almost need a score.lol
Mom gets in moods where she does not think that she should stick around much longer. It is rough when they go thru that. Poor Tillie with her eyes and her hearing loss it must be hard for her. She needs to think about what she would miss if she was not there. All the fun things with the grands and they bring their dogs over to see her also. They all really love her and would miss her if she was not there. I wonder if she thinks about that. It is hard to tell what is going thru our mom’s minds.
It seems like my hair had gone thru two stages. It was falling out and then it slowed down again. Then it started again. I have heard that it can be stress or it can be medicine can cause it. I may try to find the Rogaine and see how it works.
My daughter found out that her husband was cheating on here on Face Book. Not only did she find out her sisters and some of her friends found out also. It was horrible and I would never want to live thru that again. They had pictures of them kissing and everything else. Dancing together to a slow dance it was just sad.
I watched Rosanne and The Middle last night. They were both really good. We started to watch Blackish and it is really depressing. Everybody talked about how funny it was and then we watch it and they are getting a divorce. Is this going to be an end of the season cliff hanger? I hope not that show needs to cheer up again. If not we may have to scratch it off our list of things to watch.
It was hot here today. It is nice that you got the cool sea breeze. I think that I would have settled for that today. I think that summer may be here finally. It sure took a long time getting here. Looks like we are going to just skip spring. It is looking that way all over the country.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I don’t think I knew that you went to beauty school. Did you ever work in a salon. If you did did you like it? All I remember you talking about was working taking care of older people.
Okay here’s the person who bothers me. Kerstin Lindquist. I think she’s in love with herself.
Here’s the other thing that bugs me. When Jayne Brown does a Quacker show and there is a flamingo on an item she pronounces it flaminco -kind of like the dance-and it just drives me up the wall. I know-geeze Gail- get a life. Can’t help it-if you’re on air selling things you need to pronounce them right.
Love the basket of kitties!
Gail -
Barbara,
I’ll bet that man at the nursing home gets lots of attention as I’ll bet there are five women to every man there.
I remember my sister and I laughing when some of my Mom’s friends were talking about an older guy being a good catch because he can still drive at night and now I know exactly what they were talking about. lol
I actually am amused by Little Suzy Graver as Greg calls her. She certainly doesn’t lack for enthusiasm about her clothing line. It used to bother me when someone would be trying to show colors and she would be blabbing away but now i just look online for myself. Greg does a pretty good imitation of Suzy twirling around the room. Most of the time i just copy the shows i am interested in and flick through them so i don’t really have to listen to anyone unless i want to or have a show on for background.
I previously had nixed the cold shoulders but then saw one on a friend who is a larger woman and I liked the way it looked so I am going to try it this year. My shoulders aren’t that blubbery and maybe it will be nice and cool.
I haven’t ever listened to books but I know many do. My old tablet was a Samsung and so is the new one-boy I didn’t realize how badly my old one was working until i got the new one. I have both a kindle and a nook and I have the apps on my tablet so i can read all across everything-even on my phone if I wanted to. Both Kindle and nook have ones with that not really bright back lighting which is good for reading in bed and not disturbing anyone.
Jerry is right you are the best mother to your boys and i’m sure they realize it too.
I hope you can get that cake sent all in one piece. That will be such a nice surprise.
I think the twinkle lights would look like fireflies dancing in the jars. That would be enchanting.
Are you having a DJ?
The first song that always springs to mind is Wonderful World but you should google Mother-Son dance- There are tons of good choices depending on what type of music you like too.
When you talked about pushing up your boobs it reminded me of the Scene in European Vacation where Ellen Griswald does the sexy dance to Hey Big Spender and Clark accidentally tapes what happens afterwards and forgets to erase it off the camera and then the camera gets stolen when they are on Vacation.
Between that and Adele’s uniboob and Ron showing Colleen how to step into the bra i had a good laugh. Now I’m sad that i don’t have a good boob story. The only one I can think of is when I made Greg come home from work early to remove the tick that i had on my boob one time. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I think the male bird sees it’s reflection in the window and thinks it’s another male bird trying to hone in on it’s territory. But to do it over and over really gives you the idea of where the term bird brain comes from.
I think Greg wants to lose about 30 pounds. I would need to lose three times that if not more. The problem is it’s so restrictive when you are not eating carbs that as soon as you quit you gain it all back plus more. You would think he would know this by now as he has done it before but he doesn’t seem to learn. It sucks because some nights I just want to put a frozen pizza in the oven and now i can’t even do that.
Blackish is really depressing right now. I think there’s only one or two episodes of the Middle left. I will miss it when it goes off the air.
Gail -
Adele,
Greg didn’t get anything for his birthday as he will just buy whatever he wants-well he did get a new lawnmower and rototiller but not purposely. We just ran up to the local bar yesterday for dinner and this is what he had for dinner. An order of chicken wings.
I think I will buy myself a birthday cake for him. lol
So now you are fragile. I remember when Greg’s Mom called her daughter delicate. Greg and I got a kick out of that.
Oh the mansierre! I just love Seinfeld. I watch reruns all the time.
I got a kick out of you and Gary and the uniboob. I seem to have developed that same thing. Now if only we could make that seem sexy! lol

Hi Ladies,
I don’t know if anyone has noticed that I haven’t been on here quite as much recently.
Jenny is getting a divorce and we have been working through all our feelings about this and worrying how the grands will manage.
She wants it-Adam doesn’t. She has already moved on-supposedly she has been unhappy the last seven years.
We are kind of unhappy with the way she is behaving right now.
But as you all know she is our daughter and we will always love her even if we don’t like some of the things she does or some of the decisions that she is making. Right now the well being of the grands is most important.
As you can imagine I have spent the last month crying every day.
But we can see she is determined to follow this path so now I have to put on my big girl pants and deal with it whether I like it or not.
What I have learned from this is it’s no use worrying about things that may or may not happen as bad things will happen anyway and many of these things we have no control over.
We were just hit out of right field by this. But now is the time to stop thinking about and wishing for what might have been and to go forward and try to make the best of what we have been given. I have to keep repeating everything happens for a reason.
That has become my mantra. Broken hearts will heal. We just pray the grands will weather all this without their spirits being damaged.
I know you will all support us and if I disappear for several days now and then don’t worry. Some days right now I just don’t feel like talking.

Gail I am very sorry to hear this news. That is awful for your family. I always got the impression that Adam was a good guy and very good to her. I guess we do not know what happens in a marriage. We will be here for you. I know what you mean as some days I just can’t post either.
I bought the One Day Only Apple Blossom top. So maybe retail therapy will help. I need a new top like another hole in the head but got it anyway. I don’t have as many short sleeve ones so I am sure I will wear it.
My left hip has really been hurting. I suppose it is because of the rain every other day. It seems to be improving. I go to the ortho doctor for my knee check up next week so if it still bothers me I will discuss it with him & see what he thinks. -
Sue,
Thanks so much for your support. You are right. Sometimes the face we show the world is entirely different from what life is really like behind closed doors. So many times we have been told by perfect strangers when we were out with all of them what a beautiful family we have. Adam is a nice guy and a wonderful Dad but I guess that’s not what Jenny wants anymore.
Believe me I have done much retail therapy during the last month and after yesterdays Quacker shows my Q Card is smoking! I too need new clothes like I need a hole in the head but that’s okay. At least the Quacker clothes make me look happy from the outside and sometimes the feeling just rubs off and either makes me or someone else smile. Piper loves my Quacker clothes as did Kendall and Lachlan when they were younger. Did you see the picture on Facebook of Piper at baseball practice in her tutu? lol
I have been having problems with my right hip for about six months but am just not ready to deal with it yet. I will put up with it for as long as i possibly can. But we all know where these things lead eventually.
Going to be a rainy chilly weekend here. Good time to snuggle up with a good book. I have to pick my next one.
Gail -
Hey Colleen
I think Blackish is doing that to show all families have issues, and nothing is great every day. I just wish they would hurry up, and get back to the fun. We got the message….LOL
Do you watch Superstore? they are hysterical. I love all the characters. Last week’s episode had me laughing so hard, I cried.
If you think about it, between the tow of us, we have at least 8 girls. That is hard to keep track of all of them. hey, we are old, and our memories are nto so great anymore….LOL
bobby wants to BBQ on Sunday. I just hope the weather cooperates. I know there is rain tomorrow, and not too sure about Sunday. My TV has an error message on it, so I have not seen the weather yet. It says “having trouble connecting to the X1 platform”. I will have to call the cable company if it stays that way.
Heather’s car is at the body shop. She had an accident this week, and has no coverage. She was coming here, and it was a chain reaction thing, from 3 cars in front of her. She was the only one who hit someone, so she was totally at fault. She is lucky we are in this line of business, or the parts would have cost her a lot more. One of our good customers is doing the work for a good price.
It is hard when we hear our Moms say they are tired of living. hey…some days I feel like that!
I hope your hair stops falling out too. Mine seems to have less fall out some days than others. I am hoping it will stop, but it has not. When I wash my hair, and comb it, I have bunches of hair in my hands. I hear it breaking when I comb it, and I have a very wide tooth comb. you can see my scalp, as it is getting very thin, all over. I am not used to having thin hair. Oh well.
I hope you all have a good Mothers day. Is your Mom coming over too?
It is chilly here, but the sun is out, so that is good.
Adele -
OMG Gail!
A tick on your boob….ouch. Dam, that is a serious issue. LOL
Adele -
Hey Gail!
We really do get a kick out of the aging process. We have to, or we would be depressed. You should hear some of the things i say around here. I crack myself up, when I make fun of myself. Not to mention when I rag on Gary….LOL
Greg is a funny guy. I can see him dancing aorund the room imitating the hosts. Gary would never do that. he does not dance at all.
Did I tell you we stopped at our old favorite bakery in Stoneham, on the way back form the doctor this week? We got a couple of pastries for Tillie’s actual birthday. We realized how much we missed that bakery, as they are really good. So, people decided I should no bake the cake for Mothers day, and take a day off. We ordered the strawberry shortcake this morning, with the nice fresh strawberries on top, too. We will have to see if tiers is better than mine….cost of the cake….39.00. Are they that expensive aorund your way too? It is a 10 inch cake. You get what you pay for, as they say.
Hope your day is goign well.
Adele
PS…it is cool, but sunny. So, I may sit on the deck for a bit before the rain tomorrow. -
Dearest Gail
I know I speak for all the girls in saying we are so terribly sorry you all have to go through this. We all want our families to be happy, and have good lives. Somehow jenny will find her way, and things will settle down. It takes time, and as we know, even a minute can be an eternity when you are upset.
I wish I had words of wisdom to cheer you up. Both my kids are divorced- Heather has had 2 divorces. I know how devastating these can be, to everyone.
I have a saying that hangs in my kitchen. I also got one to give to Heather a few years back. this is what it says:
Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass.
It’s about learning to dance in the rain.
When things go badly for Heather, and she is upset (which happens a lot), I tell her….”dance Heather, dance.” some days she needs to dance, and some days I do. that sign has been a comfort to me for many, many years.
We are all praying with, and, for you.
I am so terribly sorry that another little family has to go through this.
Love, Adele -
Hi Sue
So glad to hear from you. We always worry when we do nto come on for a while, as we think the worst. We also know when you feel badly, it is hard to write.
Nicely said to the Gailster. Kind words are always good for the soul.
On your hip. If it is early enough the series of 3 shots (gel shots- mine is called Orthovisc) works miracles. I ahve had them for the past 4 years in my other knee, and I need to get them only once a year. they take all the pain away,a s they do a cushion between the joints, as long as there is room to do so. I hope you can get a solution to stop the pain, as the hip pain is brutal. Gary had a hip replaced years back. Only thing is, it is a much easier recovery than a knee. I found that very odd, but true.
I will say a prayer for a good answer to your hip when you see your doctor next week.
Love ya, Adele -
Hi Gail,
I do not know what this bird is other then crazy. You would think that they would learn and stop doing that. He is hitting his wing and that has to be dangerous. He will break it one day and then he will be sorry. Mom keeps saying that it is a female so who knows. How can you tell the sex of a bird anyway. Has anyone got close enough to look? That is like a turtle how can you tell. You would have to lift his shell to see what he or she was. That would not be fun.
It is not good to just stop eating one type of food. When you start eating it again you will gain weight. So you are smart not to stop eating the carbs like he is .You are better off just eating what you want. Just try to be happy with who you are. That sounded good didn’t it. I just thought that I would throw that in. I never go by that anyway. I cannot stay on a diet and there is no use in me trying.
I hope that Blackish changes soon as they are getting too depressing. I do not want to watch other people have problems. I think that we want laughter. There is too much unhappy on the news. We need to see laughter.
Gail just hang in there and be the best mom and grandma that you can be.That is what the family needs right now. I know that it is hard but you are strong and you can do it.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I agree enough life lessons. Lets move on and be funny again. This is supposed to be a comedy. I have not seen Super store yet what night is it on? Ron is watching baseball in the bedroom so I can watch whatever I want in the living room. We do not have to decide together. Rosanne is just a little iffy but she always was so that is how it is. I thought it was really funny about the guy and his fertilizer. He kept sending the send button.
We do have a lot of girls between us. Do you ever get their names mixed up? I do all the time. I just have to tell them that they know who I am talking to all but poor Aliza she can never figure it out if I call her by the wrong name.
I think that Ron is going to bbq on Sunday. The girls are supposed to make the salads. It is supposed to be really hot here Sunday. So we will grill early in the day and then put it in a pot on the stove to keep it hot. We will just put some bbq sauce in the pan so it will cook into the meet.
I hate it when the tv messes up. If you are lucky there will be someone there to help you with it or you can get some teeny bopper that does not know what they are talking about. That seem to be who I get if we have a problem with the satellite. There solution is to turn it off and wait a few seconds and then turn it back on. I have the same problem but now I am having trouble getting it to load up on the tv again. So then they look for a supervisor and you have to go thru a whole new thing to get it working.
Is Heather okay? I hope that she is. That is terrible that she is at fault. That is not good that she does not have insurance. I hope that the repairs will not be too expensive.
I am not seeing a lot of thin spots so that is good. I do think that I have a spot that may look like it is balding. It is in the back of my head though so do not worry about that as much cannot see it. If one of the kids notice they will fix it for me. I think that it is time for rogaine.
It is really hot here and is supposed to stay that way all week-end and next week. We go from freezing to burning up. This is crazy weather.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi colleen
I do get the names mixed up. I have to re-check the post to see who is who….LOL Mandy is easy to remember right now, because she lives with you, so you are always mentioning her.
Heather’s car is all fixed. She got it back this afternoon, and she is happy all is working….accept one turn signal. We need to get one more part to fix that. She is ok. No lasting damage. the car 3 ahead of her took a sharp turn, the one 2 ahead swerved into the sidewall and missed him,and the one in front of her was able to stop. Heather tried to swerve left, hence she got the drivers side of her front end. I think if the 2 cars in front of her, hit each other, maybe they would have thought differently. Who knows. At least nobody got hurt. Nobody was given any tickets, so that is good too.
it is so cool here, we had to put the heat back on. Do you believe it? It has been raining,on and off all day.
The Robin’s eggs have hatched. I read it takes about 13 days for the birds to leave the nest. So, maybe next week they will be gone.
i did not make Tillie’s cake. We decided to get one form that bakery we used to go to. She loved that bakery, and tier cookies, so we are getting some of her favorite cookies too, as a surprise. I hope it tastes as good as mine….LOL. I can always make one another day.
bobby is BBQ’ing too. He already has the chicken marinating in terriyaki.
So, next week, i am concentrating on sewing the toppers for the living room windows, as I have had the material for about 9 months….LOL No cooking will be done, until I am done. We got cold cuts for dinners next week…..LOL LOL Ill take a pic of them dome. there are 10 windows, so it is a lot of sewing.
Hope your day is good, and that you have a good day tomorrow.
PS…didn’t you love the ending of Blue Bloods last night????? I did!
Adele -
Hey girls!
Didn’t we all love Blue Bloods last night? OMG, it was so good to have that fabulous ending.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
Well at least no was hurt and no one got a ticket. It will not count against her on her license. It is good that she can get the parts from you and you have a friend that could help fix her car.
Have you seen the Bandana top that they had on Quacker? They only showed it a couple of times. I ordered it and it is really pretty. When they showed it on tv it did not look anything like it did when I got it. It is just really pretty. I ordered it to get something to go with my orchid dream jeannes. I bought that on a whim and could not find a color that would go with it so ordered that top in black. I knew it was cute when I ordered it but did not know that it would be that cute when I got it. So If you are looking for a top that you can wear out to a nice place or just about anywhere it is the top.
It is really hot here. I would trade weather with you anytime. Our air conditioner has been acting up today. Ron did clean it out and we are hoping that it will keep running for awhile. At least until we can get an new one.
That is so cool that you have robin eggs in the nest and they hatched. It does not take long until they are out of the nest. That will be so much fun watching them learn to fly and fly away. I wonder if there will be anymore eggs in the bird houses.
Tillie is going to be so surprised when she sees the cookies that you got for her from that bakery. She will also be happy to get the cake that you ordered for her. You are so thoughtful. They may be close to tasting as good as yours but never as good.
That sounds good the chicken marinating. Will he bbq anything else or chicken be all. Ron fixes a variety of things sense we have so many here. We are having brats, pork steaks and ribs. He goes a little crazy when he bbqs. The girls are making potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and corn on the cob. They went to the store with their grandpa and picked all of this stuff out. They are really something else. I did not know that they would pick out as much as they did. It will be an interesting meal.
I did watch Blue Bloods last night. It was about time that he asked her to marry him. You could tell that they really liked each other more then just partners. This should be interesting. I wonder if one of them are going to get killed off on the show. I hope not they are both really good on there and would hurt the show if they left. Especially since Danny’s wife died. They cannot keep losing main characters. I do not know why I think that something is going to happen but I cannot help it.
I hope that you and Tillie have a HAPPY MOTHER”S DAY and all of the family comes to celebrate with you.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO EVERYONE……MOM’S OF KITTIES AND PUPPIES TOO!!
It is good nobody was cited for traffic violations.
It is so chilly here, we had to put the heat on again. No sun. Gloomy, and it makes you ache all over. Hope the sun comes out by the time the kids are here. Both Marissa and Amanda are working all day. We will miss them.
Bobby got all the meat for the bbq, and he ran out to get more gas for the grill. I have no idea what he got for meat, accept the chicken that is marinating. He is going to make the “potato packets” I usually make. You get a huge piece of aluminum foil, inside you place potatoes( cut up in small chuncks, chopped onion, salt and pepper, and put pats of butter inside- enough to coat all the potatoes in the packet. then seal it up tight, and out it on the grill to cook. We will also have fresh pineapple and watermelon- love those. Only thing is, it is way too cold up here for a bbq, we should be having soup….LOL LOL
I loved, loved Blue Bloods. So nice to have a happy ending. I am dying to hear what DD says about it…Sue too! We all love that show.
Steph is ogign to checkout the bird nest, and she will take a pic of it. I will post it here, if it comes out clear.
Have a good day!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
Sounds like you are going to have a really good day. We had a good day here. The girls made the salads and Ron did the bbq and after we ate they cleared the table and put the left overs in the fridge. They really did a lot for us. Mandy worked in the morning til around 2pm and we ate right when she got home. We were all so full after we ate that we did not eat anything else tonight. We had blueberry pie for dinner also. It was store bought. How did all the treats that you bought at the bakery go? Was Tillie surprised? That was so nice that you did that. I hope that Steph gets a good picture of the robin eggs. We would all like to see them.
Your potato packets sound really good. I have never had them like that. We had corn on the cob and I wanted to put that on the grill but Ron did not want to. He did not think that it would get done in time and we had so much meat on the grill that the corn would not fit. So it would have been a long time before it would have been put on there.
It was so hot here today. Ron did the bbq early and we put it in the oven until Mandy got home. The meat was the first thing done. We did not turn on the oven today either. That is really something that it was cold enough there to have the heat on. Maybe that will come our way.
I hope that they enjoyed the show as much as we did . I thought for sure that one of them were going to get shot when that car came up close to them. Then when they hugged there was no doubt that they were going to get together. It was just a good show.
Well that is about all from here. Hope that you had a good day and cannot wait to hear about it.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s day.
Gail, I’m really sorry to hear about your family issues. I don’t have any words of wisdom. Just be there for your daughter & grand kids. I did go to beauty school back in the early 70s. and no I didn’t like it. In those days haircuts were $3.!!! and you worked on a 60/40 pay ratio.(??). in training, I was good at the ‘old lady’ hair cuts, neckline cuts, short in back & longer on the top. I wasn’t good at styling, esp long hair. My cousin was born with a comb in her hands, so my dad figured I should be just as good. It’s where I met my ex husband. I went out with one of the other students on weekend, & turned out she knew him & we passed him on the highway. He caught up with us, & that’s how I met him. We didn’t last long, 16 months. He was constantly threatening divorce, till he finally got it.
Colleen, it sounds like you had a 4th of July picnic/ bbq. It sounded wonderful!! I’m sorry you guys had such bad weather out there. David talked about the storms today. As for the birds, the males are usually the bright colored ones, like the cardinals. The females are brown so they blend in with the trees, bushes while they sit on their nests. Canadian honkers are exactly alike in color, but the Mallard ducks, the male has all those beautiful feathers.
Adele, I hope you had a wonderful day. that cake sounded wonderful, I’ll be right out. I;m glad your daughter wasn’t hurt in the accident. Out here you can get a heavy fine or suspended license if your caught without insurance. They’re real strict about that out here.
By the time you guys see this, Jewell will have had her grooming & will look nothing like she does right now. she’ll probably be mad at me too.
Did you get any of those crop pants on the TSV the other day? I wanted to but I don’t dare. I got that denim shirt by Belle & it fits me like 2 sizes too big!!
I haven’t seen the bandana top. I’ll have to look it up.
Have a grrrrrrrrrreat week!!!
dd -
Hi Everyone,
We had to switch from the AC back to the heat too as it has been cold and rainy since Friday. Didn’t do much for Mother’s Day-took a nap and barbecued hamburgers and read a book. Very quiet day. Brent called and he was up in Ruidoso with Wendy visiting her mother.
I guess I’m the only one in the group that doesn’t watch Blue bloods.
DD it sounds like your father wanted you to go to beauty school more than you did. I don’t think it’s for everyone. Some people just have a talent for cutting and styling hair and some don’t. I know I have no talent for that-i can hardly trim my own bangs if necessary.
I didn’t get the crop pants but I did do some other damage on other Quacker items. Retail therapy. lol
In Illinois when you want to renew your sticker for your license plates you have to have proof of insurance.
I thought it was pretty much mandatory all over now. I wonder if Adele meant that Heather only had liability on her vehicle.
Speaking of birds and their sexes Greg just showed me some pictures he had taken last week of a Tom turkey in our front yard with his tail all open strutting around trying to impress a female. There will be lots of those turkey families with all the little babies trailing behind traveling through our property soon. I always have to laugh as there always seems to be one little straggler in the group who gets waylayed by something interesting and then has to run to catch up with the rest of the group.
I have an appointment for a teeth cleaning this afternoon. That’s always fun. But I like the nice smooth teeth afterwards.
Gail -
Hi Ladies,
Just a note tonight. Gail, you’re the one who uses Philosophy? I was reading some reviews & some were complaining the scent doesn’t last as long as it did earlier on. Is that true? I’ve been using my new fresh cream. It’s fine with me if the scent doesn’t linger. I guess you can’t make everyone happy. No you’re not the only one who doesn’t watch Blue Bloods, but don’t tell Adele. Shhhhhhh, just between you & me, LOL!!!
Many yrs ago Disney did a series of wildlife shows, & they showed the male birds strutting their stuff to get the attention of their love. It was hilarious to watch.
We had another 90 degree day here. It was the hottest Mother’s day ever. but the cooler temps are on the way back.
the groomer didn’t make it today. Poor Jewell, she was so upset (NOT)!!! Some emergency came up I guess, & they rescheduled for Friday.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
dd -
Hi DD,
I wish I could see some of those exotic colored butterflies in real life. I wonder if species like that are only found in the rain forest or something.
Shhhhh! I promise not to tell Adele that you don’t watch Blue Bloods either. She’ll never know. lol
As to Philosophy. Yes since Christina Carlino sold the company to Coty the staying power of the fragrances have changed. They really used to stay all day which was nice. When I use the Fresh cream I use the body wash, the skin cream and top it off with the perfume and then it stays for awhile. But you do have to layer the scents to get any staying power anymore. Plus i think they may have tweaked the formula on some of the perfumes to make them less strong which is sad but I like the smell well enough that i still use the basic scents like Amazing Grace and Falling in Love. As to this last TSV I got the two new scents-Hula girl was not what i was thinking it would be-it’s more floral and powdery than tropical but i will keep it and use it but probably not reorder. The coconut one is better-only used it once so far so can’t really describe the smell yet. I gave both smaller bottles to Jenny as part of her birthday gift. The one that I really like for a beachy summer smell is beach party. I wish I could get more of the skin cream from that scent. So yes, Philosophy has changed since it was sold but it still has lots of things that i like and I’ll bet i have used the skin care for 20 years and i have pretty good skin for my age-so it’s either their products or heredity or a combo of both. You are right you just can’t make everyone happy and there are just some people who like to complain about everything and now with the internet they have an even bigger platform for doing so. Now after that long diatribe aren’t you glad you asked me? lol
Jewell probably phoned in an emergency for the groomer. lol Well she deserves a nice treat after she gets groomed for being a good girl. Is there anything special that she really loves?
Speaking of pets and eating Greg and I never realized what messy eaters we were until we no longer had dogs in the house. There was never any food under the table or around the edges of the floor under the counters like there is now. They would gobble up anything we dropped while eating or preparing food and now we have to clean it up ourselves and we are surprised at the amount of crumbs we generate.
That reminds me of when the kids were little and both eating in high chairs and of course when they are first feeding themselves as much gets in their tummies as onto the floor or on their bibs. Anyway, when the kids were little we always put the dogs out in the dog run while the kids ate so they wouldn’t be begging. When my Mom would come to visit and the kids would eat and make a mess after they got done and we were ready to let the dogs back in my Mom always used to say-“bring in the cleaning crew!” and sure enough the dogs would come in and clean up the stuff that the kids had dropped on the floor during their meals. I think they looked forward to doing that job. lol Sweet memories!

Hi Gail,
Your Mothers Day sounded very relaxing and nice. We really did not do much but sit around here and eat. I am glad that Brent called and how was he feeling? Is he doing any better?
We have had storms here but it has not cooled down at all. They had some damage is some parts of the area but not in ours. I am glad that we did not have any really bad storms here. We did get a lot of lightening so could not get on the computer until early this morning. Did my birthdays and then got off of here and went back to sleep. It was too early for me to be up. We had some rain this morning but it did not storm this evening like they said that it was going to. OMG I am turning into Ron and giving the weather report. We have been together too much. We need a day away from each other.
I have had a little too much retail therapy. I have been buying clothes and I need to stop and see what I need and what I do not need to buy more of. I have bought 3 pairs of dream jeannes and three tops. I think that is enough for awhile. Before long they will be showing winter clothes again. The seasons just go too fast. The fashion seasons. They always start and end too soon. Spring is over with now and they are into summer clothes and then in July they will be into fall and winter clothes. They need to give us a little more time.
It is fun to watch the turkeys with their young. I guess that we all just like nature are we would not live out in the country like we do. It is time for the mother ducks to be out with their babies also.
That is kind of disappointing about the hula girl philosophy. I thought that it would be more tropical also. I should have ordered the coconut since that had a better smell. It will be nice to have though it will smell good for awhile. The fragrance has to last longer then the other kind that we can buy in the store.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
You should have gotten a job at a nursing home beauty shop. Those ladies use to get their hair done once a week. She always had people in her shop in there. The girl that I knew that cut hair worked in two different shops and made pretty good money. That would be the best place to work. They usually are very grateful that you came there to do their hair.
It was like a 4th of July picnic. It was good though. Thank you for all the info on the birds. I will have to check this Robin out and see if it is a he or a she. Mom is convinced that it is a girl.
I didn’t get the crop pants either. They just did not look all that inviting. I have other pairs of dream jeanne things and those just did not make me want to buy them. I guess that made sense. I have been buying a lot of things here lately and it is time to stop.
Is that a picture of Jewel with her tongue sticking out? It looks like she really did not want to have her picture taken and she she just stuck her tongue out at you. She is so cute. She seems like she is really a cuddly cat. The one we have here is not cuddly at all. He would rather bite you then to sit in your lap.
I really like all the pictures. You always find the best nature pictures. The older houses are so pretty also. Thank you for posting them.
That must have been terrible to live with a man that was always wanting a divorce. I do not blame you I would have given him his walking papers also. You do not need someone like that in your life.
Well that is about all from here. Have great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
Has anyone heard from Adele? I haven’t seen her on here for a few days. I hope she & her family are okay.

AnonymousInactiveMay 16, 2018 at 6:59 pmPost count: 643
I have not heard from her but if she is getting the storms we had yesterday she may not have power. There was a lot of damage in PA 4 trees fell on one house other trees on other houses & cars along with downed power lines. The ground is so saturated the trees are uprooted although the winds were wicked. All that happened to me was the screen blew off my window & I had to go get it so it did not blow away. I was soaked. It is to be cold & rain thru Wed. 2 to 4 inches of rain tomorrow to Sat. Heavy rain on Friday. Weatherman says no sun until Wed. At least it won’t be so stormy without the heat. Hope it is not to bad in the morning as I need to go to the ortho doctor & I hate to show up looking like a drowned rat.
-
Hi Sue,
WOW you guys are getting hammered by those storms. Thank you for getting back to me. I saw on the news about the storms & how much damage they’ve done. I didn’t realize it was so bad!! we’re cloudy & cool, but no rain. The Columbia river is at flood stage, due to rapid snow melt in the mts when we had those hot days last weekend. I’m in no danger as the river isn’t that close to me. It just sounds odd when we haven’t had a lot of rain for the rivers to be high enough to be at flood stage. It just means the bridges have to lift more often for ships to pass underneath.
I hope you make it to the Dr. not looking like a drowned rat.
Take care everyone!!
dd -
Sue,
Glad to hear you are okay. The news shows storms out east but doesn’t say exactly where they are. Hope you get to the doctor without getting caught in the rain. Is this a check up on the knee?
Gail -
Hi DD,
I heard from Adele a day ago. She is busy working on making those curtains this week so I think that is what is keeping her away.
We are actually having some nice sunny days. Greg is out right now putting on his green before he goes to work this morning. I wish I had his energy.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I had a hair appointment yesterday morning to get my roots done and to get a haircut. I go back next Wednesday to get my hilites done and then I will be set for summer. My stylist is going to a hair show in Nashville this weekend so she will come back with lots to talk about. Who knows maybe we will turn my hair purple! lol
Brent is not better yet. The doctor tried to put him on a new medicine specifically for UC and the insurance wouldn’t pay for it so they are in the process of protesting that. Also he says every time he goes to the cardiologist they do the same three tests and it costs him an arm and a leg so i told him next time to refuse and tell them to do something else. His family doctor thinks it’s some sort of valve problem but no one is pursuing that. He also said because of his young age some of the doctors just automatically cross stuff off the list of possibilities. He really needs a doctor that looks at finding out what his problem is as a challenge. sometimes I get so frustrated that i wish i could go out there and start telling them all what to do and i know he is really frustrated too and sometimes gets down in the dumps about all of this.
You are right before long the Q will be selling winter coats and boots. Heck they sell shorts and sandals in March. Then it will be CIJ. it seems like the last couple of years they had better stuff during CIJ than they did during the actual season. All the seasons are out of whack in the retail world.
A few years back we had a duck pair that would stop by the pond for a few days. They were wood ducks. They came for about two years in a row and then never came back. Other that that we don’t see any little duck families with their babies. We will usually see the mothers and fawns a little later in the summer.
Gail -
Hi Colleen and everyone
Sorry I have not been on. I have been sewing my butt off. I have half the valances done.
Mothers day was good-Tillie loved the cake, and thanked us so many times, which she really did no need to do.
Marissa just called, form having her 4 wisdom teeth removed- she did well, and is on the way home.
JJ gave me a copy of the book where his story was published, and wrote a funny for me, when he signed the book…..”For when I am famous”…..LOL
I’m attaching pics for all of you. One from Enzo on Mother Day- he delivered my amazon package ( he is a temporary mailman, like Jhonny was for 2 years, before he became permanent- he worked all day Sunday)….LOL
I hope to get on and answer all the other posts soon. I have to make soup for Marissa today, and hope to finish one more window.
I hope everyone is good, and all is well…..love you guys!
Adele -
Hey DD
I think I worded the car insurance incorrectly. She has insurance, or she would have been locked up, and the car towed. She does not have coverage for accidents where she is at fault, ie: comprehensive. It is too expensive for her old car, whihc only cost her 800.00. So, when there is an accident, you take a risk. She hit the other car in the rear, which, up here, is always your fault, no matter what. the repairs came to more than the car is worth. It was 650 for parts- our cost, mind you, and 600 to one of our customers, who did the repair at a decent cost due to us. So, she bought the car twice, so to speak.
Thank you we all had a good time Sunday.
You have to click on the pics above, to see all of them. I have no idea why that happens.
did you love Blue Bloods last week? i knew you would!
It is so gloomy up here again. We had the air on for 2 days, and now Tillie has the heat back on downstairs.
I hope you heard good news from your insurance about the cardiac rehab. I was rejected on the mediation, and am re-submitting the claim. i refuse to give up….LOL Don’t you give up, either.
Hope your week is going well…hey…how is Kate?
Adele -
Hey Gail!!
Yes, that’s what I meant about Heather’s car. You can read all the aggravating info on my post to DD. Plus, the other info on Colleen’s post.
I am trying to read these as fast as I can, as I am still sewing. the pics I took of the valance did not show how pretty the fabric is. It is the same as my chair, so I will post a pic of the chair, so you all can see the pretty stripe.
The kids were so excited about the baby birds. The mother was dive bombing them….LOL They were very careful not to touch anything, so she will still feed them.
that is ok to have a quiet Mothers Day,. When Brent visits, you can hoot it up!! Hey- has he had any more news from his tests/doctor?
So, Gary now has colitis- from the salmonella. I am hoping that will eventually go away, but, he does not have good luck with that.
How is jenny doing?
Can you get Greg to post that pic of the turkeys?? That must have been great.
Hope your week is going well.
Adele -
OMG DD!!!!
You do NOT watch Blue Bloods……we have to reevaluate our friendship, as well as Gail’s….LOL LOL LOL
Adele -
Hey Gail
I need a dog for under Gary and Tillie’s chairs….LOL
Adele -
Hey DD…
here I am….LOL I should have done a fast post to say I was sewing. I am waiting for Gary to leave, o to finish another one, so I have some times to answer.
Gayr said I have been very cranky, from being tired. The cutitng of the material is the hardest, and I have to keep sitting down. It is tkaing a lot longer than the last time I did those windows, about 10 to 12 years ago.
Adele
PS….love all your pretty spring pics. -
Hi Sue
We did get those awful storms. That night, I was going to answer some posts, and had to shut the computer off, as they were pretty bad. We got about 2 inches of rain- a little less, i think.
Good God! I am so happy you did not get hurt going out there to get your screen.
We are getting rain tomorrow too. Itis very gloomy here today.
Adele -
Hey Sue and DD
I was so scared we would lose another tree. So glad we had no damage.
We are getting the rain on Saturday- just heard the news. Sue is getting it tomorrow. Yuck!
Adele -
Hi colleen and Gail
So, here was the answer on Brent, and it is still not good. Dam.
Every time Gary goes to his doctor, they do an EKG, and something else. But, Brent is not covered for those tests, whihc makes it awful for him. Not to mention the added stress he has of knowing he has to pay. I know we are all still praying for him to get a valid diagnosis, and finally feel better. This is just not right.
Go Greg! He is way ahead of me in planting. Gary wants to get the herbs for the deck this weekend, as Lowes is having a big sale on herbs. It is just too coll for me to care right now.
Hope everyone is good.
Adele
back to sewing….. -

Well the doctor says I have bursitis in my left hip. He gave me a shot & I am to go for physical therapy for my hip & lower back. He really made things hurt pokeing and twisting. So the shot has not helped yet. The knee is good. He was pleased with that.
It was raining this morning but stopped & cleared off this afternoon. Now they are saying the most rain will happen Friday night into Saturday.
I stopped at the garage on the way home because my check engine light came on. So car going to shop on the 29th. I go the 22nd for therapy.Gail I don’t think I answered you. I did see Piper in her tutu. She looked cute. She does march to a different drummer. I also saw Lachlan ready for his game. Jenny often has Piper photos but have not seen any of Kendall for a while.
I just cannot figure out people needing AC. Our temp reached 83 the day of the storms but fell fast when the storms went through.
-
Hi Sue,
I guess bursitis is a lot better than needing a hip replacement so you must have been relieved to hear that news. Sometimes those shots take a day or two to kick in so hopefully you will get results soon.
Kendall does not like to have her picture taken so the pictures of her are few and far between although there was one of her running in a race sometime within the last couple of weeks. You have to catch her when she is not paying attention if you want a picture.
Will it be okay to drive your car until the 29th with the check engine light on?
Gail -
Hi Adele,
What a cute book cover! JJ the author! Hooray!
When you said Marissa called you after she had her wisdom teeth out I was wondering if it was one of those funny calls like they show on videos. Where someone is talking all goofy and saying funny stuff after having the gas for the tooth extraction. some of those are pretty funny.
Wow! Those babies are really little! No wonder Mom was dive bombing whoever took the pictures! I hope they got out of there fast before she became too upset.
I’m sorry Gary got colitis from the salmonella. Is that something temporary? I’m not sure exactly what it is and how they treat it-I will have to consult with Dr. Google. I wonder if that’s part of the reason he lost so much weight so quickly.
Yes, isn’t it funny how it takes us longer to do things now than it did ten years ago. Sometimes it gets frustrating too but there’s really nothing that we can do about it. I hope you get the curtains done so you can relax this weekend.
Gail -
Hi Sue
Bursitis is better, as no need for a hip replacement. But, it is very painful. I had bursitis in an elbow when I was in my 40’s, and I remember that winter as one of the worst ever. It eventually went away. So, that is the good news- sometimes it clears up on it’s own…wit a little help form anti-inflammatory’s.
We are getting that rain late tonight, into Sunday. We are supposed to get a couple of inches of rain. I am definitely feeling it in the shoulder, and neck.
I hope the car has a minor issue, and no major repairs needed. My old Jeep’s check engine liht came on once in a while, and it was due to the gas cap. I am hoping it will be a simple thing for you too.
Will you be up at 5 tomorrow to watch the wedding? Tillie is planning on watchmaking the whole thing….LOL I bet she will be sound asleep in her recliner.
no more blue Bloods for any of us. very sad until September.
hope you have a good night, and that the shot is kicking in. I use ice to make the shots work better- 15 minutes on, for 4 times a day. i swear it makes the shot work into the joint better.
here is a funny for you…..after the teeth cleaning today, went to get the herbs for the window boxes on the deck, and then fed the birds. Mind you, I have a suet, hummingbird, and 2 with seeds- one is thistle. All were empty. the birds were all squawking when I went near the feeders. But, when I put the food into them, they got quiet. So, Gary later asks what was up with all the squawking birds? I tell him the story, and he just gives me the “so, why do you do this look?” I think it is funny. These must be younger birds, because in years past when I went out, and there was no food in their feeders, they would squawk at me until I filled them. I guess they need to get to know me.
When Gary went to check the baby birds, he said the Mumma bird just sat there in the nest, and did not move. I guess she does not want any more pics of her babies….LOL
Do you feed birds n your yard too? Since the big pine tree is gone, we have not seen the pretty cardinal, who made a home in it. Very sad.
Adele -
Hey Gail
I am hoping the colitis is temporary. I think you are right about the weight loss,a s I believe you do not get the nutrients absorbed in your body when you have it.
Read my post to Sue on the bird news of the day. speaking of that, you had to see me after I fed all the birds…huffing and puffing, with Tillie saying….”I don’t like the way you are breathing right now”. Seriously?? I had to get all the food out and then pulled the cart (with the broken tire) to the feeders. I spilled so much seed today, the Mourning Doves had a feast on the grass.
It is disappointing how much energy we need to expend to do such a simple job. That was nothing to do years back, and now it is an effort.
Oh yes, the call was amusing. Marissa sounded drunk, and she does not drink. She was so loopy, she went to the Laundromat with Amanda and they did their laundry. I was freaking out, as I knew when the anesthesia and stuff wore off, she was going to hurt. She never ate the soup last night, as she was in bed, saying her mouth hurt, way before it got there. She told me everyone was yelling at her for going out with Amanda.
She feels better today, but she says her mouth is sore, whihc is expected.
So…you up at 5 am tomorrow???? not me….LOL
Adele
PS…thanks for the kudos to “The JJ”. I can see it now….JJ writes the stories, and directs The Piper in the made for TV movie. -
Hi Gail,
It is interesting when the stylist come back from one of those conventions. They always have new things that they can do to your hair and if yours is like mine she started doing facials and all kind of things. She was funny at first she really tried to get people to get that stuff done. Then after awhile she did not talk about it as much. Now she does not talk about it at all.
It is not right that the insurance will not pay for the medicine. They should not have a say over the medicine at all. If this is what he needs then they should pay their portion. Why are we letting insurance companies make those decisions. It should be up to the doctors and not them. I am really disgusted with all the bad health care that we are getting now and wish that they would go back to what it was like before. All they really needed to do was make it affordable for all the people not just a few. I do not understand why we cannot get a better insurance for everyone.
That would be fun to watch the ducks go on the pond or even just walk around it. Do the ducks eat a lot of your fish? I know that they will eat fish but do not know if they cause a major problem.
I can understand why you are so frustrated with the doctors that Brent are going to. They should get giving you some answers to what is wrong with him instead of just taking the same tests over and over. All we can do is pray and I wish that there was something more that we could do to help you and him.
I was kind of disappointed in CIJ. I did not think that they had the things like they have had in past years. It did get worse after the July shows were over. I hope that this year they have a lot of new things and fun things. It was hard to find gifts last year for everyone. They did not have as many shows either. There was nothing that made you want to stay up late to watch. It was just a shame.
Tomorrow Brook and I are going to a craft show. They are having it in one of the little towns close to us. Mandy has to work and Ron is not sure that he wants to go. It is fun to just go and look around.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I love the valances that you made. They are really pretty. You are so talented I do not think that there is anything that you cannot do. How many more do you have to do before you are finished?
Those baby birds are so small. They also look to be very hungry. You will have fun watching them fly out of the nest and go off on their own. I like to watch all of nature. We had a bunch of baby foxes around her last spring and we thought they were so cute. Then they started killing everyone’s chickens and guineas. They they were not as cute anymore. lol
Did you watch Blue Bloods tonight? I was not as impressed with it this time. I could not figure out what they were talking about with Danny. He kept saying that he was okay and I did not know why. Maybe I missed something at the beginning. We missed part of the beginning so something might have happened then. He really lost it when they guy said that he was out with Danny’s wife. I thought that Danny was going to really hurt him with that razor.
That was a really good picture of Tillie with the boys. She must have really enjoyed her cake and cookies. That must have been a really good surprise for her. You had a good idea doing that.
How is Marissa now that she has been home for a day or two after having those teeth pulled. I hope that she is doing okay. That was nice of you to make her some soup. She probably really was glad to get that. It seems like you have to eat soup for a few days after having those teeth pulled.
I think that colitis will go away eventually. I hope that it will. Gary have really more then his fair share of illness this year already. You need to tell him that is enough now. He needs to just get well and not have any more sickness this year. Wouldn’t it be nice if it was that simple. We are praying for him and hoping that he will be better soon.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen
I hope you have a good time at the craft show today. I love craft shows. You always find something different that nobody else has.
When Gary peeked at the nest yesterday, the Mumma bird was just sitting on it, and did not move or squawk at him. So, they are still in the nest.
Last night Tillie was saying how sad it is that we have not seen the cardinal in a while. He was in and out of the beautiful pine tree we lost. We do have 2 more pines, but they are in the front of the house. Maybe he has taken up residence in one of those.
the pair of ducks that used to come swim in the pool, when the cover was still on have not returned either. the cover comes off next week, so I guess those ducks are gone too.
I have 2 more valances to do. I will do one today, and the last one on Monday. Tomorrow we are going to an early dinner with Winnie and Al.
It is supposed to rain all day. It is gloomy, but the rain has not started.
I made Gary cinnamon rolls this morning, using 2 containers of crescent rolls. I un-package them, and push the seams together, to make a big rectangle. then I melt butter, and spread it on the dough, then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar, and then a layer of chopped walnuts. Roll up the roll, and cut them into 8 pieces, put them in a Temptations larger baking dish, and bake til done. then make the frosting with melted butter, confectionery sugar, and vanilla, with some milk to make it spreadable, spoon the frosting over the rolls, and eat.
Marissa is doing pretty good. She says her mouth is sore. She was supposed to use the heating pad, after the 1st day instead of ice, but that made her swell, so she went back to the ice. She goes back to work on Tuesday. She had the soup last night, and has enough left over for tonight and one more, I think. so, that is good. I am just glad she likes my soup….LOL
Hope you are all having a good day. Tillie was up at 4 to watch the wedding. We put the TV on at 7, and caught the entire ceremony. I loved the American minister. What a great sermon he did! I missed Elton john singing. Did you see it all?
Adele -
Hi Adele,
We had a good time at the craft show today. I bought a beautiful wreath for the summer months. It has red white and blue on it and stars and Lady Liberty. I plan on just leaving it up all summer. We need to be patriotic right now.
Maybe the momma bird is getting use to all of you. You do just look and never try to touch the babies. So she must not feel threatened. Those time little thing can be pretty ugly until they start getting their feathers. Our baby guineas were like that also.
You have really been working fast on the valances. They are so pretty. I cannot believe that you have gotten them done that quickly. You are just really good at doing things like that.
That sounds like a good time. I hope that you enjoy going out to eat with Al and Winnie. Do you have any idea what restaurant you are going to? I hope that it is some place really good and you enjoy it.
That is nice that you made her enough soup for a few days. Sounds like she really enjoyed it. That was nice that she had something to eat and she did not have to cook it herself. You are a good grandma.
We watched the wedding but not at 4am. There is not wedding worth getting up that early for. lol Did Tillie enjoy it? We recorded it on our dvr. I have to say there were parts that we fast forwarded it. Some of it was kind of long and drug out. We did not like watching them walking up to the church. After you see 20 people doing that it is enough. Brook watched it with me. She made a pretty bride.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen
p.s. Your cinnamon rolls sound really good. I will be over for mine tomorrow. lol -
Hi Ladies,
I got my new computer & I’ve been playing with it for the past couple days. I’m writing this on the old one as I’m not used to the new one yet. I’m having trouble getting my pics transferred over to the new one. I tried to log on to the app that’s supposed to help move stuff from one unit to the new one, but for what ever reason they needed both serial #s but I don’t have the serial # from the old one. And they said the # I gave them for the new one wasn’t correct. However, when I signed into register the computer with HP it went thru, no problem.
I’m probably still in the dog house with Adele, since I admitted I didn’t watch bleu bloods. lol. OUCH!!!! I remember when they pulled 4 of my teeth before getting braces, omg. I had to keep medicated pads between the other teeth so the cold air couldn’t get to it. I sure didn’t feel like doing anything. and that was back in the 80s.
I did get up for the wedding. as soon as it was over I went back to bed. But then, I was awakened by a group of noisy soccer fans that came here from LA for a soccer game. I spent the rest of the day sleeping whenever I could. I recorded it since it was on CNN/HLN without commercials. And the commentators kept QUIET!! during the ceremony. The only time they talked was during a break in the event. I got up in time to see Prince Charles, Queen & Prince Phillip, arrive. there weren’t any diplomats or heads of state at the affair, just celebrities, friends of the family & Diana.
I think the family was taken aback by the minister that gave the sermon, quoting MLK!! It was marvelous. the choir was a African-American choir from Chicago, & they sang Stand By Me. Elton John didn’t sing at the wedding itself. He performed at the reception afterwards. It wasn’t televised. They’re such a darling couple!! I was living vicariously thru watching it. My prince never showed up, so it’s as close as I’ll ever get to a prince.LOL
Jewell got her haircut Friday, & she was beside herself the rest of the day. She didn’t know what to do. It’s been on the chilly side but I got out one of my winter throws for her to sleep on. She won’t get under the covers with me. I tried to cover her with light weight hand towel but she wouldn’t have any of it. It’s supposed to get hot this week, 80s, but by the weekend, they’re saying thunder storms are possible. I remember yrs ago, I was staying with a friend & on Memorial Day weekend it was so stormy we watched the water swirl down the street. It was really moving!! That’s spring in Oregon.
Well, I better get off here before I bore ya to death.
Have a great week!!!
dd -
Hi DD,
Is that computer really pretty in the rose gold? It looks so pretty on the TV.
If you are in the dog house for not watching Bluebloods then I am in there right along side you. lol
I loved the looks on the faces of the Brits when the preacher was speaking. I think they are used to a more staid type of service. lol
Jewell will be back to normal in a few days and when it gets hot she will thank you for the shorter hair.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
Those ducks that stopped by here were wood ducks and they did not eat the fish other wise Greg would have been chasing them away. Greg put some kind of netting over the pond this winter and either the mink never came back or it couldn’t get in as we only lost one fish over the winter and that one died of natural causes.
Your wreath sounds really pretty. I have a red, white and blue one on our front door and I keep it out all summer. We have a really nice craft fair around here in the spring and the fall. Unfortunately it has gotten so popular that you can hardly get up to the booths to see the stuff anymore so I quit going. Plus now I don’t think I could do all that walking-it hurts my back and my hips too badly. What a shame. I never really thought about no longer being able to do things when I got older so it has kind of caught me off guard. Oh well-such is life.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I hope that you got those valances done so you can relax a bit.
How was your dinner with Al and Winnie?
It’s been cold and rainy here too the last couple of days.
When we watched The Preakness from Maryland they had rain and fog. part of the time you could barely see the horses. So now Justify has won two of the races in the Triple Crown-only one more to go.
I hope Marissa is doing better. I remember taking our kids to do that. They were funny! The young ones bounce back quickly.
We have a little Chicago Bears birdhouse on our deck that Greg had gotten for a gift. This year there’s some little bird who has a nest in there so we should have some little babies too.
Well Friday night I feel asleep on the couch and woke at 4:30 to go to the bathroom so I figured as long as I was up I would turn on the TV and watch the wedding and just lay back down and probably fall back asleep. Well then I ended up kind of getting into it and and staying awake and watching the whole thing. Needless to say I had to take a long nap that afternoon. Thank goodness there’s no more princes getting married any time soon. lol The only thing we couldn’t figure out was why Greg wasn’t invited to sing Stand By Me as that is one of his signature songs along with Don’t Laugh at Me. lol
It’s funny when you read the Q boards-some didn’t like the dress-some didn’t like the hair or the makeup. I say who cares. She’s a lovely young woman who would look good in a paper bag and I wish them both a long and happy life together. Why do people on chat boards always have to be so negative? Why can’t they be happy for the young couple who just celebrated a big day in their lives? Sometimes I get so frustrated by what people who are hiding behind a computer keyboard will say.
Be nice to each other people! How hard is that? it’s just as easy to say something nice as it is to say something bad-or to quote my Mom-“if you can’t say anything nice about someone don’t say anything at all.”
Gail -
Hello to All. It is going to take me a while to catch up; but hope you all are doing good, and are well. I, on the other hand, have not been well. I started having “female” issues a couple of weeks ago; and have literally been jumping through hoops just to get a doctor to check me out and make sure that whatever is causing my problem is not something serious. I started by contacting my family doctor; because it says on my blood thinner bottle to contact him should I have any bleeding of any kind, and it began. After answering many questions (like I don’t have sense enough to know whether I am bleeding to death or not) they told me they were referring me to a gyn. which was what I knew I needed, but felt I could get a quicker appointment by going through my doctors referral. WELL……it took his office four days to find some doctor that is as far away from us as you can get, who agreed to see me. They tell me the “problem” is the fact I am on Medicare; even though we both have expensive supplemental insurance. I am doing much better, thank God, but want to know for sure that I am okay, and can put this worry out of my mind. And on top of that, this doctor won’t give me an appointment until the first week of June. So much for their concern. I am very upset; I just feel that at my age they just feel I am disposable, and this is one of the most eye opening things I have ever experienced. I have been in touch with this supplemental plan we have to try to find someone who will see me sooner; but so far; they are still looking. To say the least; I have prayed a lot about this, and I know God is watching over me, but you all know the seed of fear that you feel when you don’t know what is wrong. I am SO happy that the whole “problem” has stopped, and I will keep you all posted. Do any of you have a problem now that you are on Medicare? I remember when I was working that I could just go to any doctor, and now the doctors don’t even have to see you unless they want to.
I watched the wedding, but not until later in the day. It was a beautiful service, and they both looked so happy. It is such a happy time for a young couple in love.
Yesterday was Neals birthday. I did bake his cake last week and Jerry helped me freeze it then wrap it and put the dry ice on it and get it mailed. I really hope he liked it. We miss him so much.
Take care everyone. Miss our talks. Hugs, Barbara -
Hi Barbara,
I am sorry that you have been having trouble. It is hard to get to a doctor that will take your insurance when you are on Medicare. I guess that we are not worth the bother any longer. Just keep bugging them until you find a doctor that will take you sooner. It is not right to let you go thru this and not let you know what is going on with you. I will be praying for you.
The wedding was pretty and the couple did look happy.Harry had a smile on his face the whole time that they were in the church. I do hope that they have a happy life and that no one breaks them up like they did Harry’s parents.
I hope that the cake makes it to Neal in one piece. Tell him that I said Happy Birthday. I hope that they are doing okay. Have you talked to little bit lately? He is so cute.
Have you been having a lot of storms in your area lately? We have here and it has knocked all of the electric in our kitchen out. Now our freezer and fridg are out and we have had to plug them into another outlet. I hate using extension cords for that long. We have got to get an electrician in here and get this fixed. This is really aggravating. We had to move the computer into the living room and it sits right in the way if I am watching tv and Ron gets on here. We had to change the whole house around.
That is about all the boring news from around here. Hope that you are better and do not have any more problems.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
Sorry to hear about your issues. If it’s what I think it is, find something with testosterone, male hormone, it should help. If you’re on estrogen, it could be the problem. Someone told me they give you a shot of testosterone if you go to the ER to stop the bleeding. I’m shocked they didn’t tell you to go to the ER in the first place. Testosterone counters the bleeding.
I’ll write more later.
dd -
Hi Gail,
I am glad that the netting stopped the mink from getting the fish this winter. That would be a mess if you had to go thru that every year. You will be able to see the fish this summer.
They just started this craft fair in the spring. They always have one if the fall and it is really nice. They had a lot of vendors there and not much food. That is unusual. Usually they have a lot of food trucks there with all the good food to eat. Ruth and Joe were selling ice cream there. We were laughing because Joe cannot have any diary for a month. So he is dishing out ice cream that he really likes. When we go out to eat Ron and Joe are always the ones that are getting the ice cream after dinner.
I cannot believe that you stayed up and watched the whole wedding. I did not make it. We had to dvr it or we would not have seen it. We watched all of the wedding just not all of the people walking up to the church. They had an interesting crowd at their wedding. It was really beautiful though. I think that Harry smiled thru the whole thing.
I guess that is was a good thing that none of those people had to wear that dress or had to be at the wedding. There is not such thing as an ugly bride or ugly dress. The wedding should be what the bride wants it to be and not what other people want. I agree people should just be happy for her and let it go at that. I agree that Greg should have been there to sing that song. They made a big mistake there.lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi DD,
It will not be long and you will be typing away on the new lap top. It is really pretty. Have you always had a lap top? We have been thinking about changing to a lap top but I am not sure if I would like it or not. I have always used a desk computer. I guess I am too use to using it and do not want to try something new.
Jewel looks so pretty after she has a hair cut. I guess that she gets hot after they first do that to her. I hope that she stays warm at first it must be hard for her when she first gets it cut. The hot weather will make it easier though.
I love that picture of the yellow bird. It looks like it has a collar on. It has that little bit of orange on his neck. It is really pretty. You always find such pretty flowers with vibrant colors. They sure make me smile and feel a little more cheerful.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

Hi Barbara,
I will be praying that the doctor gives you a clean bill of health. (once you get in to see him or her)
I remember a few years back Debbie had a similar problem and everything turned out to be fine so just keep remembering that.
We are not on Medicare yet as Greg is still working. So now there is another thing to worry about in the future. You would think that the medical community would value life at any age-it shoudn’t matter as we are all valuable to those that love us and would miss us if we were gone.
Tell Neal Happy Birthday. I hope the cake got there okay. I can imagine how surprised he was by it.

Hi Colleen,
Usually there are a lot of food vendors at those craft fairs. Maybe because this was new for the spring not a lot of food trucks knew about it. If they keep doing it I’ll bet each year there will be more food vendors too. Poor Joe having to dish out the ice cream that he can’t eat. Well at least he knew it was just for a month.
Speaking of craft shows-years ago there were a lot of stores with individual booths where people could sell their crafts all year long. We had several places like that around here and i used to love to go and browse and shop. Then all of a sudden all the places like that just disappeared. I think the younger generation doesn’t appreciate the hand made stuff and not many of the younger people are into crafting so these types of things have just lost popularity. That’s why I like to browse Etsy as they have lots of handmade stuff on there. There is someone on there that makes these quilts that look like bookshelves with books on them. I fell in love with them but they are very very expensive as are any handmade to order quilts because they require hours and hours of hand stitching. For Christmas I had a wine glass made from there with a guitar and Greg’s name and The Choirboys written on it. I also got him a capo engraved with his name from there. Plus I got a beautiful plaque made for my SIL’s wedding with their names and dates and I got to pick the background which was the words to the song that Greg sang at their wedding. They loved it! It’s a great place to go for personalized gifts. (I sound like and advertisement for Etsy)

Hi colleen!
Lots of news here.
I finished the valances over the weekend, because Gary got sick, and we could not go out. He had a bad colitis attack, that lasted for 3 days. got very close to going back to the hospital, as he could not eat anything, and was in the bathroom every half an hour.
So, the good was the sewing was finished, and the bad, no going out to dinner, or anything else. Oh well. It is what it is,as they say.
I went to my back doctor today. All the pain is from the neck, he feels. But they did do a shot in the shoulder avian, as the left shoulder has been in pain every day. He prescribed a muscle relaxer for bedtime, as I have not been able to sleep at all. Guess what! The med was not covered by insurance, and the cost was 86.00. i declined it. I am used to no sleep, so why screw with something that works….LOL
do you Ellie that story about Mario Batalli? It made me sick. I used to love him, and still missed him on The Chew. I am horrified.
It sounds like you got some nice things at the craft fair. I am happy you had such a good time. I love craft shows.
Tonight is the last show for Roseanne. I will be watching- will you?
We saw the entire wedding when we woke up at 7am. It was just in time for the Church ceremony. I loved the minister, and his sermon. It was fabulous.
Hope you are having a good day…..the birds should be leaving the nest soon…..LOL
Adele -
hey DD!
Please read my post to Colleen, for all the info of the day.
I love you, even if you do not watch Blue Bloods. But, my dear, how can you not???? He is our favorite hunk….LOL LOL
your poor kitty must not have liked the person who did her haircut. I hope she is all back to herself by now.
Will you watch the last Roseanne show tonight? We will be watching it.
I called my insurance company to fight the med they will not cover- the new one from today. They will make a decision in one to 3 days. We just cannot let them get away with not helping us.
Have you heard anything yet abut your cardiac rehab? I hope you get to do it.
It is raining here again. Supposed to get a lot warmer tomorrow- we will see. I have t put ice ont eh shoulder a few times a day for 2 days, so I am grounded….LOL
Adeel -
DD…forgot to say, best of luck with your new computer!!!
Adele -
Hey Gail!
I am so happy you have a bird nest to watch too. How cute is that??
I loved the wedding, and her dress. they looked so happy and in love. Even The View talked about that today- how very happy they were. they also had that fabulous Minister on, who gave the sermon. OMG- I love him!
I woke up at 7, and caught the whole thing, accept for Elton john’s song. I missed that. What did he sing?? I am so sorry I missed his performance. I would have loved Greg’s performance. Was he upset he was not asked? LOL
Marissa is ding ok. She went back for a check at the dentist today, and they said she will have some pain for at-least another week- due to the huge roots she had. she goes back to work tomorrow.
Amanda ended up at the ER for 3 stitches. She cut herself on a broken mug at the restaurant. She is a trooper, as she refused to miss the shift the next day as the Sox were in town and playing. Did I say she is working at the Boston restraint again, for the summer? So, she is doing 2 jobs since she is out of school. God bless her.
Oh….Amanda got all A’s in her first term at college. I am very proud of her. Marissa got an 87 average, and she is pissed….LOL I am proud of her too.
Hope you watch Roseanne tonight- season finale. Did you like the winner of DWTS last night? I knew he was going to win.
Have a good one…check my post to Colleen and DD for more news…..

OMg, Barbara
Of course we will all be praying for you to get to a doctor asap. Don’t stop fighting with them. I will be praying with all my might, for this to be some very small, quickly resolved issue.
If you read the posts to the girls, you will see I am fighting about 2 meds with the insurance company. Yes, it is due to medicare changes. I have run into it twice- for the pyridium ( the med to stop the uncomfortable spasms) for the UTI I had a while ago- cost 48.00 as it was not covered. I sent in the form to fight it, then they sent it back slaying it was not all filled out- they actually sent me a different form- sent that one back too, with a nasty note saying “if this
med were for a male, I bet it would have been covered.”
Today’s med was 86.00, which I refused to get. It is a mild form of a muscle relaxer, so I can get some sleep, as the neck/shoulder are so bad, I am up most of the night. They woudl cover an opioid, which I refuse to take. Any pain pill makes me sicker than the pain. Told them that too. So, they will cover a pill to risk me becoming addicted to heroine, but not a mild muscle relaxer. Seriously?? I am not giving up. they will let me know in one to 3 days if they will make an exception.
I hope you do not give up either. I think this is due to #45, and his end of Obamacare. i have never had this happen before, and I am sure that is the issue. I think we are all goign to see this trend continue- look at DD and the cardio rehab. Same issue- not covered. if we all fight, we will get results. If not, we can start to call our legislators.
Please take care of yourself, and keep us in the loop. Even if you just post a sentence on how you are. We love you!!
Praying in Mass……….Adele -
Hi Gail,
You are probably are right about the vendors. Maybe they do not come until they are sure that the craft fairs are going to be successful. That is probably a better idea. They do not want to go there and not sell anything.
We do not have many of those stores left around here either. They just do not seem to be as successful as they use to be. That is really a shame that they are not,. They use to have some cute things in there. Younger people do not realize what they are missing by not buying those things now. They can really be nice sitting in your home and a lot better then bought things. They are a lot more original then the ones that you see in the store.
I will have to look up that Etsy place. It would be a nice place to look thru. Sounds like they have a lot of good things for gifts. It is hard to find nice wedding gifts and birthday gifts for our family. The quilts that look like bookshelves sound really cute. Ron’s sister makes some really cute quilts like that.
I am going to have to get off of here. My sugar has dropped and I am having trouble concentrating.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I am glad that you got the valances finished. Sorry that Gary got sick. That poor man is having all types of troubles. I hope that they figure out a way for him to get over this one. That has to be miserable.
We have had trouble with insurance ever since Obama care passed. It has been hard on a lot of people. My daughter did not have insurance because she could not afford it. This deal where everyone would have insurance was not true.. She did not have to pay a penalty though because of President Trump. He stopped the penalties so that really helped her. We had a lot of doctors that quit taking medicare right after that passed.
All you can do is fight with the insurance company and try to get it to go thru.I think that all the retired people need to get together and protest the insurance companies and stop them from doing this. They make all the decisions and we have no say at all. I quit taking one of my meds because they said that I have to take the one that I am allergic to. That is the one that they will pay for. The doctor sent them a letter telling them that I could not take that medicine but it made no difference.
I hate to hear what is going on with Mario Batalli. Ron was saying that he cannot understand why all these women waited until he got rich before they came forward. I think about that also. I do not blame them for saying something but it seems odd that they waited so long to come out and tell their story. I do believe that he did it, he admits that he did it so he deserves to get some type of punishment. They have already ruined his career and he is losing money. He is not respected like he once was so he has lost a lot already. This has to be torture for him. He was never my favorite on the Chew. I always liked Micheal Symon the best. He is always so happy and laughing no matter what they say to him.
I watched Rosanne and The Middle. It is their last show. It was really good and the story they told about what everyone was doing after they got older was interesting. I thought that they would at least show one more Rosanne so we could see how the surgery went with her knee. That could be really interesting. Can you imagine how she will be after they do the surgery. She will be something else.
Poor Amanda. I hope that she is okay. Her hand must have really been sore and she still worked. I do not see how she did that. I am glad that Marissa is doing better also. I know that her mouth had to really hurt.It is time that your whole family got a break.
I bet that you are so proud of both girls for making such good grades. That really makes you feel good that they are trying and working so hard to make good grades. When does JJ get out of school? Our one grand gets out the 30th of May. I do not understand why they are making them go for so long. They started earlier this year. I do not understand it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
I hope you are feeling better- saw the post to Gail.
I loved the ending of the Middle. It made me teary eyed. We have been watchign that show for so many years. I loved when Sue kissed the boy she loved for so long. After all, we are all Hallmark station fans- happy endings are a must….LOL Roseanne left us hanging. I felt bad about the husband, and all the financial issues. It was a depressing segment.
I didn’t start to have trouble with meds being covered until #45 got rid of Obamacare, so I am the opposite. This is just ridiculous. We should not have to fight for our medical care all the time. On the other hand, Gary is breaking the bank on our insurance company.
I have been using the ice patch all day for the shoulder- twice so far. I know this shot is working, as it hurt like hell last night, so he definitely got the right spot. I have to go back in a month to see how the neck and shoulder is doing.
Amanda stopped by today. her finger is nicely healing. The stitches come out tomorrow, I think. She was on her way to Bosotn to work tonight.
Marissa went back to work today. Have not heard from her yet.
Bobby called earlier, and said to take out a few burgers. he will BBQ when he gets here. I had my “summer beef” all ready. I get a huge package of hamburg from BJ’s, and then make it into patties, and freeze them individually. So, I was ready. Are you bbqing tonight too? It is in the 80’s out there today.
I got the trim for the pillows I will make to match the valances. As it is going to rain this weekend, maybe I will do the pillows. there is not rush, so that is good. I really love to make pretty pillows, with fringe, etc. Ill take a pic when I have them done. Tillie wants one too.
This whole Mario thing is upsetting. I feel he betrayed all his fans. I have all his cookbooks- I ahve some from Michael too. I do like Michael a lot.
Hope you are having a good evening. How is Mandy? Our kids do not get out of school until the week before July 4th. I thin your kids being out in May is great!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
My diabetes was just giving me a lot of problems. It dropped pretty low so I just had to eat something to bring it back up. When my sugar goes low like that it is hard to think or concentrate on anything. It is ridiculous.
It was funny when that boy that Sue loved could not get on the plane because of the snow globe. I could not believe that he got out of line and drove all the way back to where she was to talk to her. The whole family were looking at them and taking pictures. It was funny. That was a good show. I just wonder what is going to happen now. I hope that they all get parts in another show or movies. The actress that played Sue may have a hard time. She may be pigeonholed into parts like that.
Some times you have to wonder if those shots help or not. They do hurt right after you get them and for awhile afterwards. I hope that the ice helps and you do not have pain all the time.
Amanda and Marissa are really hard workers. Amanda really does put a lot of effort into working. It must have been hard for her to finish her shift with her finger cut. I would have been on my way home right after it happened.
We did grill tonight also. It must have been the night for it. Mandy grilled steaks and made salads. It is nice to have her here to do the cooking. Now that the kids have chores to do it is really nice. I do not have to do very much at all. It will be hard for me when they move. I will have to start cleaning again and doing dishes again. We do not have electric in our kitchen at all now. The lights work and that is it. We have the freezer and the fridge plugged in other rooms. We have to use extension cords. So I hope that the electrician comes soon and fixes this.
Your living room is going to look like a new room. The pillows sound really pretty. You are so good at sewing and cooking. I wish that I had some of your talent. I cannot wait to see the pictures when you get it all done.
It is upsetting to hear all of that about Mario. He really has ruined his life. The sad thing is it hurt his boys and his wife also. I cannot believe he would do that to his family. He just hurt so many different people. I wonder if they knew that he was like that on the Chew or if he had quit acting like that by then. It is just unreal.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. I haven’t read all the posts so I’m way behind. What’s the deal with Mario? I know he’s no longer on The Chew, which I read has been cancelled. Is there more to the story?
It’s been real nice out here. They say we’re in for a hot dry summer!! That doesn’t bode well for forest fires, again.
I’m sorry you guys have so much trouble with your meds. All mine are covered, which makes no sense to me. All I pay is a small co-pay. I’m on Medicare & have Health Net as backup. I have nothing to do with Obamacare at all. Something’s weird.
I’m getting used to the new computer, setting it up, making sure I don’t lose any of my emails, or photos.
It’s hard to believe this weekend is Memorial Day weekend already. I have no plans at the moment. Never do, really.
I hope everyone has a safe weekend with your families.
take care.
dd -
Oppps, that’s Portland’s smallest park. I don’t know where it is tho.
dd -
Hi DD,
I don’t think we have any plans for Memorial Weekend either. We used to have a family cookout but I think we will forgo that this year as I would feel bad asking Jenny and the kids and leaving Adam at home and don’t know if they would want to come together. The same thing for next weekend which is Milk Days-a big three day celebration in our town with a parade, carnival etc. We would usually go sit by Adam’s parents house where they would have a pig roast-then visit some friends nearby who had a barbecue and then go over to Jenny’s for the evening where they would have another barbecue with people stopping in but i doubt any of that will take place this year. Then the following weekend the guys will be at our house from Chicago, New York and Idaho for a recording session in our studio. I think the guy from Idaho is staying at our house for a few days before he goes back home.
Mario has had sexual allegations made against him-he admits some of the things but I guess there are more stories that he doesn’t admit to. His business partners are in the process of buying him out as they don’t want to be associated with him.
I hope men will start getting the message that it’s wrong to take advantage of women because you have more power than them.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I hope you are feeling better today. When your sugar drops are you supposed to eat a piece of candy or something. I remember someone telling me that they had to eat something specific but not sure what it was anymore-it was a long time ago.
You know I remember those craft stores had pretty good prices on their items too. A lot of similar things that you would see in the crafty “boutiques” for a lot less money.
It’s so nice that Mandy is still cooking for you even though she is working now. I think if either of our kids came home we would still be cooking for them. Right now cooking is hard enough for just me and Greg with his no carbs things. You can’t even serve grilled cheese and tomato soup or pizza or a sandwich or sloppy joes for a quick meal as he won’t eat the bread or the pizza crust. It’s really crazy. I just would never have the will power to eat that way even if I wanted to. Last night we went out after Piper’s graduation and Jenny had a burger, I had a steak sandwich and he had a taco salad. It’s funny-he’s now the one who is always ordering the salads like the ladies do. I can only eat so many salads. lol Anyway, so he’s not eating any of the quick and easy stuff so it’s a pain. He’s done this three or four other times and just ended up putting the 25 or 30 pounds back on and I’ll bet it happens again. I personally think it’s healthier not to gain and lose the same weight multiple times but he’s trying to be healthier so i can’t fault him for that. I wish I had his drive and his will power.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I hope Gary is feeling better and that your shot is kicking in. Glad to hear the girls are recuperating nicely too.
Kudos to both Amanda and Marissa on their grades. 87 is still a B plus average so Marissa has nothing to be upset about. They should be very proud of themselves for working and going to school and getting such good grades. They are a good example for other young people. I’ll bet you are such a proud Grandma! You’ll be in the audience cheering at their graduations.
When is Peter Pan? Did anyone ever find out?
Our kids get out next week-I think Wednesday but they go back in mid August. I liked the old days better when you got out right before Memorial Day and went back after Labor Day. Now they have to get all the required days in for state and federal funding so it messes with the schedule.
You didn’t miss Elton John. He didn’t sing during the wedding-he sang afterwards at the Queen’s reception.
I knew Adam would win DWTS but was surprised that Tonya made it into the finale instead of Marai. I guess America likes a good underdog comeback story. I also was glad for his partner Jenna as she along with Whitney and Lindsay came from the show So You Think You Can Dance which is one of my favorites. Jenna is also Val’s girlfriend.
So now I hear The Chew is cancelled so Good Morning America can add a third hour. That’s too bad-it’s a fun informative show.
I watched Roseanne-thought it was kind of depressing. I still don’t think they’ve hit their stride yet. They have all the elements and the participants for a good show I just don’t think they’ve figured out what to do with it yet. I wish they wouldn’t have made Jackie so goofy now though. the best part was Estelle Parsons as their mother. It seemed like she hadn’t changed a bit and slid right back into character.
Now to my favorite! The Middle! I loved the ending. It was so satisfying and happy and all tied up with a little bow of perfection. So glad that Sue and Sean got together. It showed that Axel married (was it Lexie) the girl that was Sue’s roommate. I also noticed that when Brick was signing his books that he was wearing a wedding ring so I wondered if he married Cindy. I wish that they would have said-otherwise it was perfection-even the very last word with Brick whispering “the middle.” I even saved it on my DVR so that I can watch it again. lol
We are supposed to have hot weather this weekend-upper 80’s so summer is here!
Gail
P.S. AGT starts next week! -
Hi Gail,
There are things that you can eat but sometimes they do not work like they should. I use to drink orange juice with a little sugar in it but that does not work for me. So now I just eat whatever that will bring it up. I go thru this once in awhile but it just comes with this stupid disease.
She cooks when she is off and then I cook when she is working. I think that the girls like it when I cook because I let them eat what they want. I guess I am not a good grandma. They are old enough to choose.
We are not doing anything Memorial day either.I think that we are just going to make a big shrimp salad. We were going to grill but we did that the other day and do not want to do it again. We got the recipe for this off Justin Wilson’s show when he was on air. Ron is the one that makes this salad. I just make the corn bread.
I agree with you about Rosanne. I really did make Jackie act a lot goofier then she did in the first show. I didn’t think that could happen. What happened to her son? I thought that in the first series she had a baby boy around the time that Rosanne did. They have not shown that little one either. What happened to Becky’s husband? Did they ever say. They need to tie up those loose ends so the show makes a little more sense. I keep waiting for the babies to come on the show as older kids and they never do. Did the grandma die in real life? She was the one that I really got a kick out of. The Middle was really good. It was nice that they told what happened to each of the kids. That is a shame that one is ending. Now if something good would happen on Blackish that would be nice.
I was really disappointed when I heard that The Chew was cancelled. I really like that show. I watch that one just about everyday. I hope that they have Daphne on the last show. It would be fun to see her again. I am wondering if this trouble that Mario is having has anything to do with why it was cancelled. Oh well there is nothing we can do about it. Did you watch the show today. It was funny. Micheal said that his son offered him and Liz jobs at the donut shop. He said that he had to laugh.
He is really making it hard on you to cook. Unless you fix him a salad every night. That is nice that you went out for dinner after Pipers graduation. I bet she was excited to graduate. Do they wear a gown or just regular clothes? I know that when Melissa graduated from pre school they wore caps and gowns. It was really cute.
It is hard to follow a diet like he is eating. I agree with you it is not good to lose that weight and gain it all back again. I am just hoping that I do not gain the weight back that I lost.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
Wow! Justin Wilson! That’s a blast from the past? He can’t still be around can he? It seems like he was kind of old in the 70’s.
My Dad always liked him-especially after they moved to Louisiana and they did some Cajun cooking.
Piper had a a pretty dress on for the graduation. They didn’t have caps and gowns-well they make their own cap out of a Styrofoam bowl and paper and a tassel but for some reason Piper and Isla( her cousin) decided to go rogue and not wear theirs.
Yes, Jackie had a son, Andy, and Roseanne had a son named Jerry (I think). I thought on one of the earlier shows they mentioned Roseanne’s son being on a fishing boat in the North Sea or something. (maybe I imagined this) lol
They did talk about Becky’s husband being dead in one of the episodes. He actually did die in real life so obviously he couldn’t come back unless he was recast.
Roseanne and Jackie’s Mom was on an episode. However their Grandmother was Shelly Winters-I’m thinking she may be dead-will have to check-or just too old to act anymore. I will check and post what I find.
I always liked Jackie but if you hadn’t seen her on the original show you would think she was a doofus now-they have exaggerated her character so much. Hopefully next season they will answer the questions about Jerry and Andy. Boy in twenty years things sure didn’t get any better for their family. They’re almost worse off now.
It seemed to me that the last episode of Blackish they were headed toward getting back together after her father died.
We can ask Adele what she thinks.
I have not been watching The Chew lately for some reason. Maybe because I started watching Days of Our Lives again after not watching for about eight years. I imagine what Mario did may have contributed to the end of the program. They all have other careers so they will be all right. After all in TV no show lasts forever.
I doubt you will put your weight back on. You have had it off for quite a while now so your body seems to like where it is.
Do you still write to Christine? I hope she is okay.

Shelly winters died in 2006.She was born in 1920.

Hi Colleen
I hope the electrician gets there before it gets real hot,and you need the air on.
It will be 90 here today, and we have the air on. We had the air conditioning people here this am to service the system for the summer, so I pray nothing goes wrong.
Tomorrow, Heather and her boyfriend will be over in the am to get the pool cover off. Gary can’t find the hex nuts for the pool filter, whihc has created a freaking nightmare. Pool store does not have them, so he is looking to see if Home Depot has them. Who wants to go to Home depot in this heat, and with all the traffic out there?
I am so happy you are having all this wonderful Minnion help. You are getting a nice vacation from housework and cooking.
Thank you for the compliments. All the crafts keep me busy. I finished the small needlepoint, and am back on the big one, that is almost done. Once this one is finished, I will have the 3 of them framed.
So far, Gary is ok. If he does not stress himself out too much today, I hope we can make dinner tomorrow with Al and Winnie. We will see. We have my Dad’s annual Mass before dinner. I hope I didn’t schedule too much for tomorrow- pool cover off, Mass, and dinner….LOL
I am devastated that The Chew will no longer be on. I have been watching them at 1pm, since I retired. I do not want to watch the political news shows all day long for company while I cook, and do crafts. i will have to checkout some of the Food network shows.
Did you see The Chew yesterday? It was really sad.
Hope your weekend is going well, so far.
Adele -
Hi DD
I have Tufts Medicare Preferred. I think it goes like this……the medicare portion controls what meds the insurance will pay for, and that is controlled by the federal regulations. So, what # 45 does to cut the Medicare program, makes a difference for all of us. I pay 2 co-payments- one for Medicare, and one for the Tufts portion. The Tufts is through my retirement.
Mario Batalli has charges on him from women he sexually assaulted, with some saying they were drugged. the whole thing made me sick. I had trouble believing it, as I love Mario, and his cooking. I feel he betrayed all his fans, and what he did to those women is unconscionable.
Now, they are saying something about Morgan Freeman. When will this stop? these are not raunchy men who one would expect this from. these are family men, who we have admired for their grace and acting. All I can say is wow.
Did you ever get an answer on the cardio rehab?
Hope you are good. have you seen Kate lately- how is she?
Adele -
Hey Colleen
‘Forgot to say, so glad you are feeling better.
Dd
Forgot to say, I hope you can eat with Kate again this weekend. I know you enjoy her company. I hate to think of you eating alone.Gailster
Finally found out the date for the play, and it is the same day as my BIL’s “unveiling”. this is a Jewish tradition. After about a year, you have the stone engraved, and all gather to view it. So, Gary will go there, and I will be at the play. Not much else we can do.
I am sorry your usual Memorial Day celebrations will not happen. It is just terribly sad. For all of you.
I am very proud of the girls, and I always tell them I am proud no matter what grade they get. I think it is such a good idea for kids to start at a community college and get their feet wet, so to speak. Four year colleges are just too expensive and out of reach for a lot of people, unless you want to be saddled with loans.
I loved the Middle ending. It was so nice how they rounded up all the plot twists. I also wonder if they will ever get another job, as they have been on that show for ages.
Roseanne was depressing. So was Blackish for 3 segments. I need to laugh!
It sound slike you will be real busy with the Choirboys next weekend. that will be a lot of activity, and fun, for you and Greg. I hope it all goes as planned, and you have a lot of laughs. Not to mention get to listen to the live music fest at the “Gailster Home.”
So, Gary has to go to Home Depot to pick up nuts and bolts I pray will work. It is gross out there. Plus, tons of traffic. he looked everywhere, and cannot find the nuts and washers for the 2 bolts. We have no idea where they went, or where they put them.
Hope your weekend will have some nice surprises for you and Greg….

Hey Gail
Somehow I missed the Piper graduating!! I have not been on Facebook for any time lately. Only went in to say Happy Birthday to a few people, and to see Sue’s post on The Chew.
Did you take any pics of Her Majesty? I bet she stole the show! LOL No show is better than a Piper Show.
Adele -
Gail and Colleen
I think Blackish will be back together, as they did seem to be going that way on the last episode. Plus, if they kept the break-up going, we would have all stopped watching. Who needs more depression? we can turn on the “Talking heads” for that.
Adele -
A couple of pics Amanda took of the nesting birds….
Adele -
I can’t load the pics of the birds. They were from Amanda’s phone.
Sorry!

Hello Ladies. Sounds like we are falling in with you all in lack of plans for the holiday. I did go into the store for a very brief time this afternoon to pick up milk, orange juice, two pkgs. of hot dogs, buns and two TV dinners for our meal tonight. It is almost too exciting. That grocery store wias absolutely jam packed. My first stop in town was at the local business center. I had called the gyn. doctors office earlier today and asked them to please fax all of the paperwork that would have to be filled out since it is my first time there; so I could go ahead and fill them out here at home and take them with me. They said sure, no problem, and then of course were not there for me to pick up when I got there. So I had to make call after call from the parking lot to finally get through all the music playing while you wait. That is another reason I went on to the store to hopefully save me some time if I could actually pick up the forms. But you know, the bright spot was the sweet young man who was bagging my groceries and insisted he help me take my groceries to the car. He had such a wonderful attitude and was such a hard worker that he made me smile just knowing that there are some really good people who want to help us, and you don’t even have to ask. I know you all are so proud of your hard working children and grandchildren. They are making such good grades; they are gainfully employed, they serve in the military, and the little ones are so talented, they sing, they dance, they act…….it just warms my heart. Even our four legged babies are sweet and talented. We are some really fortunate women to be surrounded by such love.
Jerry is doing pretty well. His back is better when the weather is warm, but he gets SO hot and that really limits his being outside. He told me the other night that he has just lost all remembrance of how it was not to be in pain. He said the only thing he can judge it by is the level it is. That really hurt me. He rarely ever talks about how he hurts. I think it was because we were talking about how concerned I have been over going to this new doctor and wanting everything to be okay.
After I sent Neal the cake, he called us on his was to work a couple of days later. He told me he really liked his cake. A couple of days later, on facebook, Sarah put this picture of some BBQ and beans and commented of how her parents knew how much he loves BBQ and they sent him this for his birthday and it was the most perfect birthday present ever!!!!! She cannot stand me, she made NO mention when he recieved his cake, and will only answer us “yes” “no” when we directly ask her a question when we are on skype with neal and the baby. Jerry told me that I am being so nice, that I “let” my DILs do things to hurt me, and dont say anthing and that I should speak up because they are certainly not going to like me any less. But I know that it would backfire on me, and it would hurt my sons; so I just go into my room and cry. You would think that I dont seem to be admired by them at all. It is SO hurtful and I don’t blame you all for just telling me you are so tired of hearing me complain. You all have such good families, what in the world happened to mine? Lord, I wish I knew.
Take care everyone. And to all who have family members who have served in the military or have lost friends or family, I sincerely appreciate all those who keep a watchful eye on us all. I am very patriotic, and will be wearing my Quacker red tee with the sequined flags on it. And Monday is the day I wear vintage Quacker. It is one of the first shirts Jeanne sold on the 50 in 50 show those many years ago. It is white cotton button down with short sleeves and beautiful flags, fireworks, just beautiful. I only wear it once a year, it is so special. Hugs to you all, have a safe holiday with friends, families, and fur babies. Barbara -
Hi Gail,
I think that he passed away a long time ago. Isn’t that why he gave up his cooking show? He got sick. I will have to look that up and see if I can find him. We really enjoyed watching him. It would be nice if they had more cooking shows on like that.
So Piper and Isla are little rebels. That is funny that neither one of them would wear their hats for the graduation. Sounds like they made up their minds not to ruin their look. lol The little ones look so cute all dressed up and graduating from Pre school.
I thought that they had said something about Becky being alone. I did not know that the actor that played her husband died. They have kept all the original cast members so I guess they do not want any new ones on there. I wish that they would say what happened to the boys. It kind of confuses people. I do not know if they will show the mom that much or not. She was not on the show that much at first either. I guess we will just have to watch and see what happens.
I hope that all these shows start being funny again. It gets depressing to watch all these people breaking up and just all this sadness. You are right about Rosanne and Dan they did not do any better after all the years. They should have had them doing a little better. Blackish should get that couple back together and happy again. I think that Adele was right if they keep them separated like that they will lose a lot of the audience.
Maybe Jenny will call wanting to do something for Memorial Day. I hope that she does so you can spend some time with the grands and her. Maybe you could ask her how she would feel if you invited Adam to come over also. She may not mind because of the kids. Are you could just leave it up to her to invite Adam or not.
I cannot watch soaps. They are so depressing and they really put me in a bad mood. That is another one of my quirks. I am really going to miss seeing the Chew. That is one of my favorite shows.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Adele,
We can run the air conditioner it is wired different then the kitchen. Just hope that nothing else goes out on us. We will be living in the dark ages.lol
That is nice that Heather and her boyfriend will be over to help with the pool. It is getting to be too much for you and Gary to have to handle. I hope that Gary found the parts that you needed. it is a pain when you have to go to different stores to find what you need. You probably go around and find the hex bolts that you need and then you will find the ones that you lost. That is how it happens here.
I think that I am getting too spoiled. Tonight Mandy and to work so I was supposed to cook dinner. So we went out and got hamburgers. I really worked hard on that meal. Have no idea what we are going to have to eat tomorrow night. Maybe peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. That would really make everyone happy.lol
That will be nice if you two can go out with Al and Winnie. You two need a night out just to get out of the house and not think about anything. It is always good to get out and just enjoy yourself.
I did watch the Chew. It was funny and sad. It was funny when they were showing the crew and telling everyone that they need a job. They will all be okay because they have other things going on in their lives but they have been doing this for a long time. It will be hard to give it up. I bet the last show will be something to see. I will be sure to have that on our dvr and probably keep it for awhile. I do not want to watch any show that they are going to put on to replace it. It would have to be awfully good. We will see. If it a news show I know that I will not be watching it.
It is hard not to stress out now days. I hope that Gary can keep from letting that happen. It would be nice if we could all just sit back and enjoy ourselves. Not have to worry about anything. Some days it would be nice to be a kid again even if just for a day. Oh well it is nice to dream.
Well that is all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
We will all have a relaxing week-end and not have a lot of work to do. It will be nice not to have to cook a big meal and clean up afterwards.Ron does not cook often but he volunteered. So it will be nice.
You are right we are fortunate to have such loving families and they are all good people. I just wish that they could be around us more. I miss my daughter in Tennessee. We will not get to see her until we can go to visit. I really miss my grand kids. My grandson sounds like a little man. His voice has gotten so deep and he is interested in so many different things. He is such a good kid.
I am glad that Jerry is doing well. It is hard on a lot of people when it is hot so that is not too bad. It is sad that he does not remember what it was like to not have pain. The back causes so many different problems. I hope that you know how I meant that about the heat. One good thing is he can stay cool in the house. Jerry is lucky to have such a good and loving wife that takes such good care of him.
It is their own fault that they are so mean. You are so good to them and you love your grandson and your son. I do not know how to handle daughter-in-laws. I do not have any. You may be better off telling her what you think. You have such a good way with words I think that you could do it and make it sound nicer then I could. You do not deserve to be treated like this. Sarah feels guilty because of how she acted and she did not tell Neal. So when Jerry said something that made her mad. She wanted Neal to think that you got to see a lot of Colin. She should have told him what happened.
we do not get tired of hearing you talk about this. This is a place where we talk about what is bothering us. We are here for each other. It helps to get things off our minds,. So you do not have to worry about talking to us. We have all had our turns talking about things that are going wrong.
The top you are going to wear sounds really cute. I am going to wear my red top with the bicycle and it looks like fire works are going off around it. I have that top that had the gazebo on it but that one is so hot.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
Mario is accused of sexual misconduct. Some of it he has admitted to and now they are taking him to court. It is sad that he has ruined his life like he has and probably ruined his families life. At least his boys are in college. If they still lived at home and were in high school it would be a lot rougher on them.
I hope that they are wrong about the dry weather this summer. It will be bad for the summer burning s. It seems like we have more fires every year. We worry around here because we are surrounded by woods so if we have a fire around here we are all in danger.
You stay safe this week-end and hope that you have some fun plans. I hope you and Kay or Critt can get together and have dinner. That would be nice.
Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
This is the place where we can all come to air our grievances and look for support. We have all been through a lot of things in our lives and maybe at least we can offer an insight into a problem or at least some words of comfort.
It’s funny since before Lisa’s accident I always thought you got along well with her. I wonder what changed. As to Sarah-if I were her parents I would be embarrassed about her behavior. It is just so rude and it must hurt Neal so much when she acts the way that she does toward you and Jerry. It is just awful when a son is stuck between his parents and his wife.
If it were me I probably wouldn’t say anything to Sarah as I just usually try to keep the peace. But sometimes we all get pushed to a breaking point. It would probably be better to say something that is well thought out rather than words said in anger that we might wish to take back. Plus, is there anything that you think that you could possibly say to her that would change her attitude toward you-probably not.
None of us have perfect families we all have some issues to deal with-that’s why we get each other. All we know is we have done nothing wrong and have tried our best to raise good kids and what they do later in life is of their own choosing and doesn’t reflect on the way that they were brought up. Heck, if someone had told me two months ago that Jenny would be breaking up a marriage after ten years and three kids I wouldn’t have believed them. It’s hard to know what is really in the heart of our adult children.
That’s why we are all so lucky to have our husbands. No matter what we always know that they can be counted on for love and support.
Gail -
Colleen,
Well all the comedies are on summer break now so we will have to wait until the fall to find out what happens next on them.
AGT will be starting up this week so that is always a fun summer diversion watching all the different kinds of acts. I hope this year the judges have finally gotten over pouring glasses of water on each other.
I have been watching my soaps off and on for years and years. I’m surprised there are still any on the air. I think they are about down to only four. They don’t really depress me as i don’t take them too seriously. In fact sometimes they can be kind of funny as where else could people be dead and then be brought back to life. It happens on the soaps so often you would think that it was a real thing. A lot of the situations are so preposterous it’s almost like watching a fantasy instead of real life.
Is it hot by you? it’s been in the 90’s the past several days.
Greg has been working outdoors and i have been working on the closet purges although I took the day off today as my back hurt so much yesterday-I thought I would take a little break. I have to pace myself and just do a little every day otherwise I just have such a back ache.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I hope that you and Gary got to that dinner out and that the pool had a successful unveiling.
Friday we were supposed to go to Lachlan’s baseball game but when we got there he was complaining of a stomach ache so we ended up just watching the game and going out for fish afterwards. We are pretty sure he was faking it because he didn’t want to play and he got out of the game the night before because it was also the school fun fair night. We’ll see how the rest of the season goes.
It’s too bad that Gary will have to miss JJ being a pirate but what can you do as I’m sure he wants to go to the unveiling of his brother’s head stone. Isn’t it interesting how different religions and different cultures have different funeral practices.
We went out to dinner last night as we had three bags of clothes we wanted to take to the drop off box and it was close to the place where we were eating. Well wouldn’t you know that drop box is gone so i have to find somewhere else to drop these things off. It’s a shame that it’s harder and harder to find places to donate things. And these are good clothes that no longer fit or I just don’t wear anymore as our life is so casual now. I hate to just throw things away that somebody could make good use of.
I think it’s a good idea for the young ones to start out at community college too. Most people at 18 don’t really know what they want to do and schools are so expensive now. I’m appalled sometimes when I hear of the amount of debt that people graduate with. My nephew, who has a doctorate, just graduated with his third masters-looking to get a position at a college that will offer him that elusive tenure.
Don’t forget AGT starts this week! I wonder what kind of acts they’ll have this year that will gross us out?!
Gail -
Hi Gail,
We will have to wait and see when that comes on. It should be interesting. DWTS went quickly. I do not understand why they had to make it so quick. I guess they put American Idol on the same channel so they had to make room for that show. I do not ever watch that show. I just cannot get interested in that one. Maybe AGT will be different.
It is really hot here also. I am glad that we are not grilling tomorrow. Ron is going to make the shrimp salad so that will be good and something cool. The only good thing about this is I do not have to cook. We will have corn bread with it.
Ron has worked outside a lot today also. I do not know he stays out there in the heat. He could work for awhile in the morning and then in the evening. Does Greg do that? We have to make sure that Ron drinks water so he does not make himself sick. Men do not listen. I have one more closet to clean out. The girls keep talking about helping me but when it comes time they have other things to do. They are funny. My closet is really full and we have needed to clean it out for a long time. Ron wants to use the closet to put the winters close in. I do not think that we will have enough room for just winter clothes. We will have to put some summer clothes in there also. Boy that was boring.lol
You do want to be careful of your back. If you get it hurting it will be really bad. It seems like when you start having back trouble it never ends.
Well that is about all from here have a great night.
Colleen -
In remembrance of those who have served.
In thanks for those who are presently serving. -

Dearest Barbara
Let me say, that from time to time, all our families are dysfunctional. It just depends on the day, season, and issue of the moment. Do not distress. Right now, over here, Amanda is not speaking to her mother again. She is very angry that Heather has a new boyfriend, and is mad he is at the house a lot. So, she decided she only goes home to get more clothes, and has been going between her friends’ and her own boyfriend’s place. I suggest she has a conversation with the new befriended as he is a nice man. All have met him, and nobody to date, has any concerns. All accept Amanda, who refuses to talk to him, or her mother.
Steph is mad at Uncle Bobby again, as he said “no’ to taking her to Home Depot, after he took her food shopping, when he went. Bobby did not want the ice cream to go bad, while she looked for the paint she needed. Plus, he didn’t feel like dealing with the crowds there. So, we have not heard from her today, and I will guarantee she will not come over for a while, because once she gets mad, she stays mad. this could go on for a long time, and Tillie is on borrowed time at this point. Actually, we all are…..LOL
See? you are not alone. The acting out at your place is not by those who share your gene pool. You raised goo, honorable and kind sons, who would NEVER do anything to hurt you, Ever. that is a wonderful thing.
Now, on to your situation. Please do not tell these nasty women they are hurting you. It gives them power over you, and do not give that up. keep smiling, as it will drive them crazy. Also, it will only cause arguments between the couples. You do not want to be a reason for disagreements in their marriages. I am sure they have many on their own.
What your DIL did, is totally based on her inadequate feelings about herself. She is out to prove her parents are more supportive and caring than you and Jerry. Good luck to her on that issue, as we know who the real good parent is. It is you and Jerry, hands down, my dear.
I would love you to get to a place when you can laugh about their antics to try to make you feel “less than”. I know you will get there one day, and it will be wonderful when you can laugh at them…to their face is even better. Go give them your Southern Belle attitude…how about this….”oh, my dear, I was so thrilled to see how much your parents care for my son, It warms my heart. he is lucky to have them, and you”. Then, hang up and give her the middle finger…..LOL LOL As my buddy Gail says to me….don’t hold back on your feelings, Adele…..LOL
I also know very well how Jerry feels. Every day is day of how much pain did you deal with today, and a day with less pain is a good one. No pain is just not possible. I am praying he will learn how to move and how to do things, making less stress on his back. It is a skill I am not thrilled to have had to learn.
I got 2 notices from my insurance company. One pill they agreed they would pay for- the one for the spasms from a UTI- that was 45, and I hope they will now reimburse me. the other one, for the pain in the neck and shoulder, they refused- that was the 87.00 one, and I did not buy it. So, I am half successful. I am hoping you will have way more success advocating for you and Jerry. I pray for that every night. Don’t give up. It took 2 appeals to win the 45.00 one. I have not decided if I will do another appeal on the other one.
It was quiet here today. Tillie did not come up to eat, and Bobby bbq’d. She hurt her arm, wiping herself, and she feels she cannot make the stairs. Heather and her boyfriend got the pool cover off on Friday, and Gary and I had a nice chat with them- I made blueberry and cinnamon muffins for them, and they were happy with them. Amanda and Marissa want to come here for the pool tomorrow, but the water is not crystal clear as of yet. Maybe tomorrow it will be.
I hope I gave you some suggestions you can use, and advice that made you laugh. Also hope you are safe, and not getting too much rain. I am worried about Sue.
Love you!!!! We all do.
Adele -
Sue…..hope you are ok. I am praying you are not in a flood mess.
AdelePS…got a lot of needlepoint done. I have one tree on the picture to finish, and then I will stretch the ones I did- have two tiny ones done for my bedroom wall- 4 inches. When I get them on the stretcher, Ill take a pic for you.
Adele -
Hey Colleen
Please read my post to Barbara for all the scoop, and here is what I missed saying to her:
Gary thinks I should start to record Rachel Raye, and watch her at 1:00. He thinks he is funny. I like her, but not as much as Michael and Carla. hey…I even started to let my hair go grey when Carla started to let hers go natural. Dam. I am so happy you are having such a relaxing and good time with the girls at your house. If they leave soon, you and Ron will be devastated. the girls will remember the time with you all their lives.
I think you did an “Adele” when you got the burgers to go. Go Colleen!! LOL LOL
Sorry for the short post, but all the info is in Barbara’s….LOL
Adele -
Barbara and Colleen
Forgot to say, we did go out with Al and Winnie. I wore a half sleeve flag motif Quacker with lots of glitter- a diagonal flag in blue. Over that, I had my Quacker flag cardigan.
I bet you both looked great!! Go my Quacker sparkly friends!! We are making America smile.
AdeleHAPPY MEMORIAL DAY
Hope Sue, Gail and DD had on their Q finery too!!
-
Well said Gail
I just wish DD and Sue had someone to give them a hug when they need one too.
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
Please read my other posts for all the news. I ahve been needlepointing my fingers off. I am a woman with a mission! I am dying to start on another kit, and need to finish this job.
Tomorrow i go to the eye doctor for an exam, as I need new glasses. I hate to go as mine as so expensive. I get all the bells and whistles, as I wear them 24/7. The scratch protector, 3 views, change to sunglasses, etc. Last time they were 700…can’t wait to see how much they have gone up….LOL I get the Sillouettes frames, as they feel like nothing on your face. I hate heavy glasses.
Speaking of Jenny- how is she? How are you dealing with all this?
I am glad the two of you got out to dinner too. Do you believe this is the first time I have been out with Gary (not for a doctor visit) in about 3 months?
Sorry for the short post- but, all the info is in the other ones.
I am dying to AGT. I bet you are too. Love that show.
Adele -
Hey girls…..
It was 90 here Friday, and then Tillie has had the heat on for the last 2 days- in the 50’s. Gotta love New England!
Adele -
Hey DD!!!
hope you are ok.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
You are right about our families. They all go thru a dysfunctional period. Barbara just had dils that are like that. She really had good sons. She has to remember that her dils may seem like they have teamed together but that really never happens. They will have an argument and that will take care of that. I may not dils but I have daughters that have them and they have problems with them. Girls just seem to argue and disagree.
That is a shame that the girls are upset with Heather and Bobby. I hope that Amanda will change her mind about Heather’s boyfriend. She will quit seeing him until she gets tired of him. That is sad that they do not get along. Maybe in time they will. Poor Steph she must not have passed her drivers test again. That is a shame that she has so much trouble with that. I think that she just gets too nervous when she takes the test and makes mistakes. It is a shame that she cannot figure out a way to keep from getting nervous.
I am glad that you got the one pill to go thru. I would fight for the other pill also. They have to realize that we need to have those pills once in awhile for pain and health. They cannot dictate what we take. I am so sick of the insurance telling us what we can and cannot take or treatment we can have. Who do they think help pay their salary. They sure do not need our help they way they treat us. Now I will get off my soap box and hush.
I am so glad that you and Gary went out with Al and Winny. I hope that you had a good time and a good meal. That had been awhile since you and Gary got to go out. We are about in the same shape. We do not have any free time to go anywhere. We are either taking kids to school are picking them up or going somewhere with the kids.
Aliza is coming over tomorrow. I cannot wait to see her. She is such a little cutie. She really keeps busy all the time. She likes to investigate everything. She also talks a lot more then she use to. It does not seem possible but she does. My grand called me from Tennessee to tell me hi. She is so funny. She called me three times because she is out of school and just wanted to talk. I guess that she is bored already and has nothing to do. She wanted to go play in the sprinkler and wanted me to go with her. If she lived closer she said that I could but they had to move. She was funny.
I cannot believe that they are cancelling The Chew. That really upsets me. I like watching that and I do not want to watch another news talk show. Who cares what they think about the news. I can figure things out for myself and do not need their help. It would be nice if they would just tell the news and not their opinion. I want to watch the Chew. I am just letting my hair turn grey if it wants to. I do have it high lighted but that is about it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. It was quiet here. We had beautiful sunny weather. Not too hot or too cool. It was summer like Sunday & there were a few clouds around but no rain. It returns later in the week. Our annual Rose Festival is on. It begins with Memorial Day or close to it, & runs for 2 weeks in June. They used to have the Rose parade at the beginning of it but it’s now the grand finale. The Starlight parade will be next Sat. night.
Adele, didn’t you see my “mini post’ just above your post to Barbara? I posted Memorial day pics & a one word post AMEN.
I was supposed to have a holiday dinner with Kay & another friend, but she bailed out at the last minute. She’d bought all the food for it, but she just wasn’t up to it. Her breathing is getting worse. I was fine with it. I don’t mind eating alone. I have for so many yrs, I’m used to it.
I sent you a pic of Jewell on my lap the other day, did you see it?
Colleen,
I knew Mario was accused of harassment, but I didn’t know how bad it was. Kay told me he’s lost everything, restaurants, etc. WOW!! I’m pretty sure that’s why the show’s been canceled. Altho, I think ABC has canceled several shows. Not sure which since I don’t watch many of them at all.
Well, that’s about it from here.
Have a great week.
dd -
Hi DD,
Jewell looks so nice in her picture. I miss having cats-they are easier than dogs but Greg is allergic so we have to stick to dogs now. I miss our dogs but just don’t know if I want the responsibility again. I’m not ruling it out totally but just not ready again yet. In the meantime I can get my doggie fix from our grand dogs. lol
Oh my goodness! Does that new lap top have roses on the keyboard? I love that! I wish they would make more decorated laptops. My very first one was like a mini one and it had all these pictures embossed in in. It was so cute but I wanted a bigger screen so I gave that one to Jenny and the kids. I wish a person could buy a blinged out lap top Quacker style!
Gail -
Yes, we are all here to give DD and Sue cyber hugs when they need them. I didn’t intentionally mean to leave anyone out when I was talking about supportive husbands. I apologize. Some people want to be single and some people want to be married and sometimes I forget that. Probably because I’ve been married for so damn long. lol
-
Hi Colleen,
Has it been really hot by you? It’s been in the 90’s the last five days.
AGT starts tonight with tryouts. I’m looking forward to it. I also like world of Dance which follows it. Derek Hough is a judge on that show. At least he was last year.
We like to watch all the singing competitions. Sometimes it feels like there are too many shows to watch. lol
Greg works outdoors in the yard any hour of the day. I don’t know how he does it. I would pass out. He does keep hydrated.
I’m pretty sure that the reason my back hurts is from my big belly. The muscles back there can no longer counterbalance effectively and now it just hurts all the time when I am up and about. Add that to probable sciatica and I am getting to be a mess! lol Pretty soon I’ll only be comfortable in one position. Ah the Golden Years! But all the problems are still better than the alternative.
I had a good weekend-no cooking. Went out Friday, Saturday and Monday! yay!

Adele, you lost another show. Rosanne’s big mouth got her show cancelled. Never did like her for that reason & did not watch the show.
-
Hi Adele,
Good advice for Barbara. Kill her DIL with kindness. Why people want to cause conflict when there isn’t any is beyond me. All I can say is those people never seem to change so it seems we just have to learn to deal with them in whatever way is the most comfortable to us.
Sorry Amanda is not talking to Heather and Steph isn’t talking to Bobby. It probably doesn’t bother Bobby much but it probably makes Heather sad. I never did understand that whole not talking to somebody when they displease you. It seems so juvenile to me. I wish everyone was like you and just “told it like it is” and opened up a dialogue. Oh well. It’s nothing that I can change.
I had my patriotic Quacker on this weekend too.
Looking forward to AGT tonight. Now Roseanne has been cancelled too because of her insensitive tweet she just put a bunch of people out of work. It sure seems like tweeting gets everyone in trouble-you think people would learn from that but they don’t. I think tweeting is stupid personally and who in the world would even care about what i have to say about anything.
Isn’t that flooding in Ellicot City awful. I used to have a friend that lived there but he lives in Atlanta now thank goodness.
I was watching a show the other day and they were talking about the Saugus ironworks way back in the 1700’s-is there still any remnants of that around? It had to be your Saugus as it was in Mass. So you must live in one of the earliest cities in the country.
I used to watch Rachel Ray but now she kind of bugs me-it seems all the people that I was first introduced to by Oprah now bug me-Rachel, Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil. the only one I still like that I can think of is Nate Berkus.
My glasses are expensive too. I can’t believe the cost. Wish we had eye insurance and dental.
Things are about the same with Jenny. We see her and the kids but she never talks about what is going on-it’s kind of the elephant in the room so I just no longer feel totally comfortable around her. Adam is still living there as he needs to be able to find a decent place to live and the apartments he is looking at won’t be available until August or September. Don’t know when or if she will introduce us to ” the other guy”. I have stopped fretting as there is nothing that I can do about the situation. Greg still tosses and turns all night. I think woman are more adaptable to change. At this time I just want the kids to be able to get through this with a minimum of trauma-that is my main wish. I don’t have any control over the other stuff.
It was a great weekend. We went out three of the four nights! Yesterday Greg wanted to go to the Golf Shack to look at new clubs which we then went over to Dick’s Sporting Goods and bought as he got a better deal there. Then I wanted to go to The Great Escape and price pools as they don’t show prices on their web site. Plus we found a place to drop off the three bags of clothes that I had so I was so happy about that-that someone will actually get to use them. Then we tried out a new restaurant for dinner and it was so good! So it was a good day.
I hope peace will reign in your family soon.

Hi Ladies,
I see Rosanne couldn’t keep her loud mouth shut (even on twitter). I never did watch her show, & don’t like her either. Never did, & that AWFUL National anthem was the topper for me. Why they gave her another show is beyond me. The bad thing about all of this is the people behind the scenes that are now out of work.
Gail, I didn’t feel left out of anything on here. I know you’re all married, & have families & family issues. I just joined a FB page devoted to Prince Harry & Meghan. When asked why I wanted to join, I wrote my prince never showed up so I live vicariously thru them. An old lady can dream can’t she? They accepted it. lol. And yes, my laptop does have roses on the keyboard. I don’t know how it’s done & HP isn’t talking. It’s only on the rose gold model. One day they may come out with a bejeweled model. I put stickers on the top of mine. You could glue beads on the top but it wouldn’t work on the keyboard.
It’s cool here today. Overcast, but the sun is supposed to break out later today. It’s supposed to be that way all week it sounds like. Perfect for me.
Rachael Ray’s voice drives me nuts. There are some people’s voices that get to me after awhile, esp on the Q.
I got my tropical décor out, now I have to get it put out. I always put up the tropical stuff around Memorial day or after. I probably should put it up during the winter, huh?
Oh before I go, QF has changed their show date to Thurs. night, you might want to check it out. I’m not sure of the time.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
talk to ya later.

Gail I meant to ask you. In a prior post you mentioned Lachlan was complaining of a stomach ache & did not want to play ball. Anyway do you think this could be because of his parents splitting up? Jenny had a cute photo of him on facebook and also Kendall. Kendall is getting tall watch out she will soon be taller than you.
By the way I can use all the cyber hugs anyone wants to send.
It was very warm on Sat & again today. If the humidity would drop that would help a lot as it is only in the 80’s but feels like 90’s. Yesterday morning was quite cool. I was standing outside watching the parade & thought I might have to come get a jacket but I made it without. I was very disappointed with the parade this year. It seems to be getting smaller every year. Only 1 band & they were not even in uniform just shorts & tees. It would have made sense if it were hot but it was cool & drizzling rain. Very few fire trucks and there were at least 4 flatbed trucks that had nothing on them It was like they were to be floats That were not made. I could not understand why they did not just pull them. I know it is hard to get things for a parade anymore as they want prize money to march & this is a small place so not much money to be had. -
Hey Colleen
You are so right. the girls get into toots, and then all hell breaks out. It is even worst for Barbara, as they are not her daughters. At least me can tell them what we think, and they eventually talk to us, because we are their blood. Not ture with a DIL. In those situations you have to continually bite your tongue, until your tongue is gone. Barbara is such a good person, and those two have no idea how good they can have it, if they were nice to her. Barbara would do anything for them, and her sons. Such a shame.
Did you hear about Roseanne? Holy crap! She showed her true colors, and she is gone. I feel bad for the rest of the actors, and the fans. Too bad they just did not kill her off on the show, and continue with the rest of them. Such a shame for the old actors who must have been thrilled they were all working together again.
I hope you have a great time with Aliza tomorrow. It is so much fun when they are still little.
I hope Steph does not continue to be mad with Bobby, as I want them here when school is out to enjoy the pool.
Amanda and her friend were here today. So was Marissa and the puppy, Luna. Amanda and Jeffrey left after a while. Marissa stayed and helped Gary with the pool. She vacuumed it, and helped him fix the filter (again). he had her get the real bolt with the nuts at the pool store, and now it works a lit better. You just cannot substitute another nut with those bolts. as it will e leak, and not keep the pressure. So, the pool is just about ready- the water will be all clear by tomorrow.
Steph has not gone for the road test yet. I feel this will never get done!
So, Amanda the Panda is coming back tomorrow. So, I will make cinnamon muffins in the am….Gary is happy about that…..LOL I am making that chicken in the crock pot too, in case she stays for dinner. Everyone likes that recipe. We will have corn with it.
I had my eye doctor today. She said the cataracts are getting worst, and I may need to have them removed soon. When she dilated my eyes, I could not see well.
Gary recorded the other cooking show for me while I was at the doctors- Rachel Raye. It is still not the same as the Chew. Why are all our shows ending????
I just heard on the news that your area and Gail’s are having tornadoes. I hope it is not close to either of you.
AGT is on tonight, and the dance competition. I love those shows.
Have a good night.
Adele -
Hey DD!
OMG, I think I did miss the post….LOL At least today I would have a reason, as my eyes got dilated.
I am so sorry you had to eat alone. I can understand Kay not feeling good. But, it would have been nice for you to have the company.
Does your apartment complex do any activities for holidays? If they don’t, maybe you could get them to do some. I hate to think of you all alone on a holiday. I feel the same way about Sue.Sue….
I heard! I was shocked, and then again, I was not. I feel the same way you do. I don’t like her as a person, and didn’t like her comedy routines. I did like her show. I guess she just cannot keep those foul opinions to herself, and pretend she is a new woman. I also heard she had a few nasty posts, but this one was the worst.
it is a shame, as I liked that they handles different issues on the show, and I loved seeing all the old actors that were on the show before. Especially Roseanne’s mother- she was a hoot. Just too bad so many people are now out of a job.
Hope you are safe, and dry in your area.
Adele
PS….AGT is back on! -
Hey girls…..
I forgot to say that Marissa’s puppy, Luna was following Gary aorund all day in the yard. Where Gary went, Luna went, and then she sat by his feet.
do you believe that? the one who says we cannot get a puppy, is the one the puppy stayed close to. I got a real kick out of that!
I could not go out to play with Luna, as my eyes were real sore after the dilation. Marissa would not bring her in, because they kept wetting her because it was hot out there. Luna had a great time chasing my poor birds….LOL
Adele -
Hey Gail
I didn’t mean to have you feel bad about what you said about husbands. We all know you did not mean it that way. It is just when I read it, I thought of DD and Sue, and I remembered how lonely I was at times for the 25 years I lived alone.
I guess I have been on both sides of the street, so to speak. I am not looking forward to being there again, as if Gary leaves me, it will be a huge loss. I actually got a little nervous that Luna was following him around so much. I have heard dogs can sense if something is wrong with someone.
Luna is such a good puppy. When our huge Rotweiller next door was freaking out with Luna in the yard, she just picked up her head, and looked at him- not one bark out of her all day. She does not bark, unless she hears ER vehicles.
I really would love to have a puppy. I do know I would not be able to do all the bending needed to train, and care for the furry thing…..LOL
Adele -
Hey Gailster!
I feel the same way you do. Life is WAY too short not to speak to anyone. Say what you want, give them a hug and a smack on the butt, and get over it.It is just a waste of time. I also hope this ends soon, as Tillie is now 92.
Heather is upset about Amanda, you are right. She gets very emotional. I hope she will talk to the boyfriend, as he is really a very kind man.
Here is a funny for you. So, i see this adorable Waterford lamp on Evine Live- a 7 inch or so lamp, that would make a very pretty night light for Tillie in her bedroom. So, I get one ( one for me too). then, I tell her I got her something for Christmas, and because she is 92, I do not want to wait 7 months to give it to her, in case she decides to leave me, as I would be crying over that dam lamp for the rest of my life. So, she will get it as soon as it comes, and I told her I am keeping the box to wrap THAT up for Christmas…..LOL LOL….or, should I say Ho Ho Ho??
I am so upset about your Jenny. I know how you feel, and how devastated all of you are. I am still praying for a miracle. We have to believe in miracles, as some days, it is all we have. I wish I could fix all the issues our Quackers are dealing with. I hate for any of us to hurt, as we are all good, kind people.
Did I say I ran into 2 ind men today? One actually held my arm as I got up the step at the doctor’s. and one held the door. I told both of them how kind they were. It is rare to run into a person who will do that, and have a big genuine smile on their face. I wore PAtriotic Q again today….LOL
Adele
PS….saying an extra prayer for Greg to get some sleep. Gla dyou two had a good time- GET THE POOL, as you two deserve a treat. -
Hey DD
I think that is a great reason to join the Royal website. I bet they had a tear in their eye when they read it. It was genuine, sweet and totally DD! We are all so happy an American bi-racial woman is a princes. How great is that? It is also nice to see how much they love each other. It gives you hope for humanity, especially during these trying times.
I think we all have the same opinion of Roseanne. I also heard she got dropped by her agent. How funny is that? So, now how does that bog mouth feel? I heard the woman who she maligned say a very gracious statement in response to her rudeness. What is wrong with people?
I agree- Rachel Raye’s voice is grating. I do not think she will be my go to show for the afternoon. I hope they come up with something good.
AGT is on in a second, so I ahve to hurry…..
Adele -
Hey Sue….it was definitely not parade weather up your way and mine. Too bad they cannot move them to a better weekend.
CYBER HUG CYBER HUG CYBER HUG………. LOL….gotta go, the show is starting. We can chat about who we liked tomorrow on AGT and the dance show.
Love you, and all my Quacker buddies!
Adele -
Hi DD,
My daughter just read what Rosanne posted. I did not hear anything about it and it was just stupid and should have never been posted. I think that there are a lot of people in Hollywood should just shut up.They do not think before they speak. Now I am going to get off my soap box and move one.
It is a shame that they did that to Mario also. He did not get hurt with the cancellation of the show he got fired a long time ago. When it first came out that he sexually offended some women. It is a shame that the other three are paying for what he did. I think that one of the men that he was partnered with in a restaurant is having problems also. He had to close the one that they had together and now is trying to open a new one. It is just sad the problems cause for others by their actions.I hope that I am making sleep. I get on a roll like this and sometimes what I am trying to say does not come out right.
It is a shame that we do not all live closer. We could have meals together and no one would have to be alone on any holiday. Or if we could skype and all of us eat a meal together that way. We would not be eating that same thing but we could eat together and laugh and talk. It would have to be one that we could have a screen where we could all be on it from the different locations. That would be fun.
Thank you for posting the pictures. They are so pretty and make people feel relaxed. We all need to keep smiling and try not to listen to all the negativity out there. It is hard to do I know.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
HI Ladies,
Can you believe it, I’m on here twice in one day. I don’t know whether to be disappointed or madder than a hornet. I ordered 2 of the Harry Slatkin (?) candles earlier in the month. It was one of his last shows before summer. I ordered the set of 2, sea breeze & pina colada scents for my tropical décor for the summer. Well, I kept checking & it would say In Process. I finally called customer service, & she told me I’d hear back from them in a few days. OK, so I checked back & it now says Advance Order. The eta is not until the END OF SEPT!!!! and who knows if they’ll even have it. They’ll be showcasing the holiday stuff by then!! At least the fall scents by then. I guess you know I’ll never order anything from him again. If they were sold out, they should’ve said so. I should write a note to QVC about how disappointed/mad I am about the whole deal. At least I hadn’t paid for em yet.It seems you guys can’t catch a break. I saw on the news about all the storms/rain/flooding & now tornadoes out there. Good Grief!!! There was a couple flare ups from the Eagle Creek fire from last yr. They were able to put em out before anymore damage could be done. We just had the second driest May on record. That doesn’t bode well for our summer. The snow has already melted off the mts.
I better get off for now.
dd -
Hi Gail,
It has been miserable outside. It is hot and humid. We are trying to talk Ron into getting a pool We really need one with the kids here and we do not want to go to the creek all the time to swim. I am trying to convince Ron that there will be a lot of health benefits in having a pool. Now if I can just get him to believe it.
I do not think that your back aches have to do with weight. I worked with some really skinny girls that hurt their backs working. They pull their backs and have problems all the time. So I do not believe that weight has a lot to do with it.
I am glad that you had a good week-end. You and Greg both really deserved a good week-end. It is hard to get thru things with our kids. You are doing the right thing by making things easy for the grands. They will need that more then anything. I am sorry that Greg is losing sleep. Maybe he will come to terms with this and not worry as much. It is so hard when you have grand kids involved.
This is how up to date that I am. I was getting ready to ask DD what Rosanne said and Mandy came in with her phone to tell me. I guess I need to listen to more news shows. I had no idea what everyone was talking about and neither did Ron. He is Mr. News and I cannot figure out why he did not hear it. He is slipping.lol
Over the holidays I wore my duck shirt and my bicycle top with the fire works and tassels. So I was dressed patriotic also. The sparkle and shine makes things seem brighter.
I am glad that you found a place to drop off your clothes. It is getting harder to find places all the time. They use to have churches that you could drop clothes off at and they would make sure that people that needed them received them.It is sad.
Well that is about all from here. I wrote more about what I thought about Rosanne if anyone is interested. If I keep writing things like that I just get mad over and over again.
Have a great night. Tomorrow I am just going to write about happy things. So my grand kids better do some pretty funny things.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Rachael is not the right show for me either. She is not as entertaining. I like her and she has some good recipes but it is all the other things that she has on the show that I am not interested in. Did you watch the show today. That was about all I could take.
I can just hear Jackie and Dan asking Rosanne Couldn’t you just have kept your mouth shut or not put it out on the media. They would have been ready to say something to her right after she did it. It is a shame that they had to punish the whole cast for her remarks.
Aliza and the cat do not get along and today she kept telling on him. He got up on my sink and Aliza just kept standing there yelling bad kitty until I heard her. So then I had to get the cat down and then she was on the look out for the next thing that he did wrong. It was really funny. I do not like animals getting up on my counters or tables. I really do not like that . That cat can really get into everything. Cats are fine if they are outside same as the dogs. I just do not like indoor pets. They shed all over the furniture and it is a mess.
Sometimes it would be nice if we can pop our kids on the head and tell them to behave and they would do that. It does not happen very often well never really. Maybe Steph will get over it and bring the kids over to swim. She has to realize that it hurts you, Tillie and Gary more then Bobby. He goes to work and he knows that they will come back.
Adele the cataract surgery will be nothing. I was surprised how much better I could see and not have to wear glasses for distance. I just wear them when I read. You will be so glad after you get them done. Just let me know when and I will be praying that yours go smoothly. My mom had the surgery also and hers went fine.
That is so nice that you have your pool all ready to go. The kids will be excited to get in it. The grands are so nice about coming over and helping to get it ready. You have a good family and like all families they have faults. I guess that is why they have us to help them thru the faults. I know that I had my share when I was younger and still have some.
I think that I am going to get off of here. I did not get much sleep last night and so this post is probably really goofy. So if it is and my true confession night is getting weird please wait until tomorrow and I will be better. That is if I can sleep tonight.
Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hey girls
A quick post before i get to the muffin baking……loved AGT last night. Also loved the dance show. Nice to be entertained, and laugh, with all the craziness on TV news every day. Hope you all enjoyed it too.Forgot to say to Gail that, yes, The Ironworks is in my Town- about 5 minutes from here. The Sachems Indian tribe was the original Indian tribe in this area. The high school teams, and many others, are called The Sachems in our Town. The kids go to the Ironworks for field trips, and here is the funny…..I have never been there, and it is near a friend of mine….LOL
Ill be on later.
Adele -
Hey Colleen
Your post is just fine.
I love the story about Aliza and the cat. How does the cat react to her?
I got the muffins done, and hope I can post the pic. Ill try….LOL
Gary is outside with the pool again, trying to get the “bug” to vacuum the center of the pool. It is one of those automatic vac things- looks like a bug. I seriously think we need a new filter, as it is giving Gary a lot of trouble.
I have the crock pot chicken on, and just shucked the corn. I hate to shuck corn. I do love to eat it, but hate the shucking.
I watched the repeat Chew today. I really hate that it was cancelled.
Did you like AGT and the dance competition after it? i loved both shows.
I just talked to bobby, and asked him to make his yummy rice again tonight- he said he will think about it…..LOL he makes the best risotto ever- he uses the fresh basil form my window boxes. It is so freaking good! i think it is fun when we take turns doing what we make the best.
I have to get back to finishing the needlepoint- had no time so far today. the Panda stopped by for a muffin before she went to work. So, i did not want to breakout the needlepoint in front of her….LOL
Tillie came up last night for dinner, and says she will again tonight. I hate when she does not come up, and we send food down. I feel she is not part of the family when we have to do that. Gary keeps telling me it will come to that some day, and I need to accept it when it does. I know this sounds awful, but I would almost hope she goes quietly, before she becomes isolated due to her limitations. It is bad enough she cannot see or hear well. I would hate for her to eat alone. this aging this really stinks.
Now that I have depressed you……
Hope your day is going well.
Adele -
Hi DD
Have you ever bought Yankee Candles? They last a long time, and have a million scents. They are what I use. I always loved Yankee Candle. They have seem pretty accessories too, and they go on sale, which is great. We are getting rain again tomorrow. I was really hoping the new window boxes would get here before the rain, so I could plant the last 6 herbs. Very disappointing. Oh well, as I say.
Did you love AGT last night? I nearly bust a gut when the boys in tuxedos did the “spitting singing”. Only a teenager woudl think of that. they said they did that act for their high school senior talent show.
I am glad you got your summer decor out. I have my Patriotic Annalees out. Do not have a lot of them, but, enough to make me smile.
I love your pictures. They are always uplifting, and you are so good to post them. There are times I cannot find the pics I save….LOL
Read my other posts for all the news of the day…..love ya! Hope you do not get those awful fires, and I hope Sue continues to be ok too.
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is well & doing fine. I had a bad day today. Tired all day & could’ve slept all day, but I didn’t. I have a day like this every once in a while. It doesn’t happen every day. I hope I feel better tomorrow.
I never heard of Yankee candles. I googled it & they sure do have a lot to choose from. I saw they have those car fresheners for a buck, & in scents I love. I checked to see if there was a store nearby, but it’s way out south of here in one of the big malls. I can get there by transit.
Those muffins looked delish. You can bake for me anytime!!!
I think I’m gonna get ready for bed. I can barely stay awake.
talk to ya later
dd -
Hi Adele,
The muffins look really good. It would be nice if we could just reach thru the screen and grab some of them. You really have to make a lot of them for your group. That was nice that Marissa came over and grabbed one.
Aliza and the cat do not like each other at all. Aliza has tired to make friends with the cat but he will not let her. He growls at her and bites at her. That is why she tells on him. She wants to get him in trouble. So she does what she can.She has even given him treats. He does not like to take them from her. I wish that they could be friends but it is not going to happen.
I have heard of those things that clean out the pools. I bet that they are funny to watch. I hope that you figure out what is going on with it and you get it all set up for everyone to go swimming.
The crock chicken sounds really good and so does the corn on the cob. You have to do things to make it where they do not want to eat the corn. Then someone else will shuck it. Ron shucks the corn here all the time. I left too many strings on the corn and so he does it now. I guess that I am rotten. I am tired of doing those things so I am passing them on to him.
I am so glad that Tillie came upstairs for dinner. I am like you. I do not want to think of the day that my mom cannot do for herself. If she ever has to give up her house that will be a mess. We will none of us feel right about that at all. More then likely it will be and my brother that will have to take care of that. We are the ones that took the car away from my dad. It was one of the hardest things that we ever did.
I have something funny hopefully. Aliza always goes around and tells you what different animals say. She get to the cat and she says meow.If you ask he what Bently says ( that is the cat heres name) she gets a real mean face and says hisssss. We have to laugh because that is true. That is all that he does to her.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I hope that you get a better nights sleep tonight. I had a night Monday that I could not sleep. So I made up for it today. I hope that you have a better tomorrow.
I buy yankee candles also. They do have a lot of different scents. I like the fact that they have the tarts and the wick candles. Then you can make a choice of which ones that you want. I hope that you will be able to try them. That is terrible about the Slatkin candles. They should have made sure that you received yours. I do not understand qvc. Sometimes they really do make some weird mistakes.
You always post such cheerful pictures Even when you are so tired that you cannot keep your eyes open. We really do appreciate it.
Have a good night sleep.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I hope that you got a good night’s rest. The beach pictures are so lovely. I never really get a beach vacation as Greg is not a water person other than for fishing. For someone that was a swimmer in high school and a life guard in Lake Michigan he never wants to go swimming. Go figure!
You know now all the other networks that showed reruns of Roseanne have pulled them too so the people are also losing all that royalty money and it must have been quite a bit as there were reruns on all the time.
What do they do on the Harry and Megan Facebook page? I liked your comment about your prince charming.
You are not the first person to have something go from in process to advanced order. I read about that happening on the Q boards all the time. Yankee candles are really good. If my memory serves me right since I seldom go to brick and mortar anymore I think other stores sell them too-maybe Hallmark-maybe Kohl’s. You could always order one online just to try it. I wonder if Amazon carries them?
Gail -
Hi Sue,
Yes Kendall does have those long legs. She reminds me of a foal. They will all be taller than me as Jenny is probably 5’6″ and Adam id 6’5″. So I don’t stand much of a chance of remaining taller than any of them.
When I hug Adam I feel like I am hugging a tree trunk. lol
I think Lachlan’s stomach ache was caused by not wanting to go to the game more than anything as we all were pretty sure that he was faking. You know his parents are not big sports watching people so he is not in a house where the games are important or fun or considered an interesting past time so I think he hasn’t developed that fantasy of playing in the big game as many of us do and that fuels our desire to play. His cousins who have a dad who is a sports nut are much more interested in playing all sports. I think a lot of it is what you grow up around.
The kids have not been told yet about their parent’s impending split although I think Kendall knows something is going on but she just isn’t sure what. I’m wondering what they will think when their Dad takes them to the Milk Day parade and Mom stays home as that has been a traditional family event.
The parades around here are getting smaller too. All the bands and other groups that march are charging more and more money and the towns just can’t afford them.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I love the story about Aliza and the cat. That made me laugh.
You know I never really minded the cat and dog fur in the house. I used to vacuum every day anyway years ago (not any more). I guess I always liked having the animals close by more than I minded the mess. Plus Rocky and Belle did not shed at all and Abby used to leave wisps of hair in the corners of the kitchen and i actually missed those after she was gone. I’m just a sentimental old fool.
Did your asparagus crop ever get any better? We have been eating it like crazy and giving some away too. It will be awhile yet before the other stuff starts to come in.
Gail -
Hi DD
You are always in my prayers, and I hope you are feeling better. I hope you feel good enough to come on for a second, and let us know how you are.
Yankee has on-line ordering, and if you sign up for the website, they send you coupons. I love coupons.
I think not feeling good is going aorund. I ended up in the bathroom all night after dinner. Unfortunately, it was after I had 2 ears of corn. Corn os the worst thing to eat for a belly ache. Better today.
Prayers sent to you, and hugs!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I wouldn’t worry about Luna following Gary around. Sometimes dogs and cats will attach to the person who is trying not to like them too. My cats would always go by my Dad and he didn’t like cats. lol
Here’s something to think about. My SIL’s Yorkie never went outdoors to potty. She was trained to a potty pad in the house. They never could train her to go outdoors but she always went on the potty pad without accidents. I guess she just didn’t like the outdoors.
I know what you mean about the present for Tillie. I actually had that experience as my Mom died right before Christmas and when we went down to her house there was her little tree with the presents that we had sent under it. I remember I had sent a black hills gold hummingbird pendant and earrings. As she loved her hummingbirds. You know I remember I took those back home with me but don’t really know where they are now. Maybe I will discover them during my giant purge that I am doing this summer.
The water guys were funny but I agree with Simon that they were not a million dollar act. I think it was funny as it was so unexpected but now that we know what to expect it won’t be as funny. Here’s a question for you-Greg insists that the weird spooky girl that did magic has been on before yet i had no recollection of her. Did you?
I have not watched World of Dance Yet. I watched Master Chef last night-it was the season opener. I’m surprised that all you other cooking show watchers don’t watch that. I am always amazed at how these people know how to cook all this different stuff. We enjoy it and it makes you hungry watching it. lol
Okay, Adele, get thee to the ironworks and come back and give me a full report. lol We just don’t have anything that old in this area of the country unless it’s from the native Americans. I am an incurable nerd and stuff like that fascinates me. lol
That reminds me of when we were in Albuquerque and i wanted to go to the place (now i can’t remember the name) with all the Indian writing (petroglyphs) until we got there and there was a sign to watch for rattlesnakes on the trail. lol I like my history in AC museums with no snakes and bugs. lol

OMG, Colleen!
That is hysterical. The cat really does not like her at all. Does she hiss back at the cat? That would be even funnier…..LOL
It is awful to be in our place, and great at the same time. We know our Moms have limited time available, and we still have them at our ages. It certainly brings up a lot of feelings.
The tiny Waterford lamp I got for Tillie for Christmas is arriving today. I am giving o it to her now, as God forbid she does not make it to Christmas. Every time i would see that lamp, I would feel bad she never got to enjoy it. So, we are having Christmas in June….LOL
The landscaper is supposed to deliver and plant the 2 trees today. I hope he was able to get them, as I have not seen him yet.
Thank you for the nice comment n the muffins. Gory had the last 2 for breakfast. I had one. My belly went nuts last night after dinner. After I had 2 ears of corn- not the best thing to eat for a belly. I have no idea what happened, but, it is better today. Just feels kind of sore.
I hope you are good. you can send Ron up here to shuck all the corn he wants….LOL Gary does not do it well, and leaves more hair than you would ever leave yourself.
Have a good one!

Hey Gailster
OMG, I would have run screaming from that trail, in the hopes of scaring any re[tile away. I do not like snakes. I have no idea why people keep those things as pets.
When you wrote the piece about your mom, i actually thought you were going to say you buried her with the jewelry on. It must have been heartbreaking to open those gifts. That is why Tillie is getting her lamp today…it is common today.
You know, I felt she was familiar. Maybe she changed up the act. I don’t remember that act.
I feel so bad that Jenny’s kids do not knwo what is happening. that leaves you with an awful feeling of waiting for the shoe to drop, as they say. They have to knwo something is up, as it has to be a little strange at their house right now. These family problems are so hard on the kids, and everyone watching. The worst is you cannot fix it, and I know you are like me and want to fix it.
I will ask the girls about what is at the Ironworks. if I forget- mention it again….LOL I think there is a lot of walking there. Go on the site for Saugus, and you can see it. http://www.saugus.ma.gov. At least I think it is the right site….LOL
How is Greg’s back feeling lately? My neck is sore today- the humidity, I think.
Have a good one…..did you get a pool???
Adele -
Master Chef is a repeat tonight if you missed it last night. Try it-you might like it! That’s what Mikey says! lol

Hi Ladies,
I’m feeling much better today. Still not sure what was going on. I was able to do some house work today. I also went thru my tropical pics for the walls, & I have sooooo many I may not have enough wall space for em!! LOL. If you could see these walls you’d understand why I want to cover them up with pics. I use old calendars.I’d be terrified of walking on those trails!!! I was tormented by nightmares of snakes (the ones you named) during my childhood. I never saw one in person, thank God, as I would’ve died of a heart attack. When I went to the San Diego Zoo yrs ago, I was walking around when I came upon the bldg. where the reptiles were displayed. I thought about facing my nightmares & fears, when this Horrific feeling came over me, & I knew it was a warning. I passed & went to see the lions, bears, anything but that!! I was so close to a black jaguar that it didn’t bother me whatsoever. He was in a secure compound but was close.
QF is on right now. It’s the show they changed from the weekend, I think.
I wonder what the big deal is for the month of June. It’s the Q’s birthday month so it’ll probably be some kind of giveaway.
How’s the weather out there? It’s been really chilly this week, I’ve had to turn on the heat the past couple days/evenings. It looked like rain all day but I don’t think we got any. We need it badly too!! You could send some of that rain out here. May & June are usually pretty wet. We’ve had parades in pouring down rain.
Well, I guess that does it for now.
take care.

Hey Adele,
I forgot to thank you for the tip on the Yankee candles. Oh check out your FB page. I sent you a piece on the “new” Magnum, PI for next season on CBS. I put in my 2 cents in the comments. There’s no one that will fill those shoes!! I can’t believe they’d even consider a reboot of that show. Esp with the way Rosanne went out.

Hi Gail,
Our asparagus is not any good at all. I need to come to your house and pick up some of yours.lol I cannot believe how bad it has been this year. I may have to go out there tomorrow and see what is there now. I just really think that we need to start over again and plant some new plants. It is aggravating.
this cat sheds more then any cat that I have ever seen. You pet him and hair just flies. I do not know what to do to stop it from happening. They use to advertise that thing that you could use and get all the hair off of them. I am not sure if they still sell that are not.
Did you get any of those storms last night? We had storms and really strong winds. It blew furniture off the deck and broke my duck that was on the table. I have had that for a long time and it has made it thru all types of weather. We had limbs down in the yard but at least we did not have a tree down unless it was in the woods. We did not go out there and look. We can wait until in the fall when the snakes are not as active. He will have to put boots on and all kinds of stuff to go out there.
I watched AGT tonight. It was good. I liked most of the acts and thought some were funny. I am not sure what I thought of the water spitters. That was gross when they spit the water into each others mouths. I do have a question though. When that one act was out there that did all the acrobatics and danced and that girls went over and pushed that button what was that all about. Do they have to compete again or did they win or what. I just know that they were really excited when she did that. I never thought that I would see Howie Mandel speechless. It was funny all he kept saying was WOW.It was just good and I never realized that it was as good as it is.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.

Hi Adele,
Aliza does not hiss at the cat. I think that she will once she is not afraid that he will bite her. She will get braver and braver all the time. He really is a mean cat.
I am hoping that Mom will be here for our 50th wedding anniversary. We only have two more years before that day comes. That would be something that not many people can say their mom was at their 50th. It will be hard if she is not. We have been wanting that for a long time.
It makes nice for your mom. She will get her presents before Christmas. She will get a lot more presents. lol We do that with my mom also. She gets more things that she use to.
Corn on the cob is hard on the stomach. I am glad that you are feeling better now. It is aggravating when you are wanting to eat something and then it makes you sick.
I wrote most of what is going on in Gail’s post so you can read it there. Our fun storm. It was something.
I am not good with being the boss when to the grands. I was supposed to make sure that they did their jobs but it is hard to tell them that they have to get them done. My 16 yr. old would not do her jobs that she was supposed to do today. She went in and went to bed. So now she will be in trouble tomorrow and she will be upset with me.
We tried some new donuts tonight. They are peach cobbler and they were really good. She got them at the Dollar store it was something new that they are going to sell. They will sell a lot of them that is for sure.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi DD,
I am glad that you are feeling better and could get some things done today. Maybe some of it is because of the crazy weather. The hot weather and then it gets cold and it is hard to adjust to the weather.
I did not know that Quacker had another big deal so soon. It will be interesting to see what it is. I hope that it is dream jeannes and not capris or anything like that. I need more jeans. I wear them whenever we go anywhere out of the house. I very seldom wear the others out of the house this year. Maybe I will later on in the summer. Right now I just can’t.
I wonder if the creamsicle is the same as the dreamscicle. That is the one that I remember but do not ever think that I heard of it in creamsicle. Maybe they just made it under a different name. Brings up old memories. All of us kids chasing the icecream truck.
That is about all from here. Have a good night.

Closing up this discussion and starting a new one for June.

Hey all….
We pray hard for Barbara today. her appointment is some time this afternoon. I hope she will be ok, and can post, so we know how she is.Hey DD
I will go into facebook to see the post….LOL thank you!!
I am so happy you feel better. It is nerve wracking when we do no feel good, as we all imagine the worst, due to our ages, and issues.
I am posting 2 pics of the needlepoint i financially finished….yahoo! After I finished I put it, and the 2 little ones on the stretcher. I was stretching the big one until 10:45 last night, and just could not get the right top corner plumb. I called the framing place ( who are having a 50% off sale- my time to do it) and they said not to worry, they will get it plumb.
Now, i can do the other 2 small ones, and get the 3 pillows done to match the curtains i did. i am on a roll….LOL
I bet you make your place look very pretty, with your beautiful pictures. Pretty pictures make everything look nice.
Did I ever tell you how I started to do needlepoint? I was really broke one holiday season, and went into a craft store to get kits to make ornaments for my parents, and Aunt for Christmas, as the kits were all I could afford. It was the year I got divorced. They were thrilled with the homemade gifts. I even sewed them stockings, and embroidered tier names on them. I realized how much I liked to create pretty things (for cheap money) , and it was something to do when the kids were in bed, and I was lonely. I have been doing them ever since. As I got better, i got more adventurous, and did the larger pictures. I did a lot of candlewick pillows too, back in the day, as I say.
I hope your day is going well. It was sunny here this am, and I finally got the window boxes, so they are installed, and planted. I do need 3 more small hers to plant, as one box is empty and lonely….LOL

Hey Colleen
Please read my post to DD for all the info. I was a busy beaver last night, and this morning.
That was an awful storm you got last night. Did it scare the girls? My girls would have been freaked out when they were that age. I am glad nothing awful happened.
Tomorrow the landscaper is goign to put the 2 new trees in. I am SO excited. I really miss the 2 trees, and so do the birds. I’ll take a pic of them for you guys.
I am hoping Tillie will be here for another year, so she can be at my 70th birthday party. we are both hoping for the same things. As they say….man plans, and God laughs.
I bet Aliza will be torturing that cat as soon as she gets a little older. Who knows? Maybe they will be good friends some day.
I got such a kick out of AGT. It was a good show. I miss them all winter long. I like them even more than DWTS some days.
It is going to shower here, sooner or later. the weather is on and it looks cloudy out there now.
Hope you are having a good day!

Hi Adele,
I cannot believe that Aliza is not trying to think of a way to get at the cat now. He really is mean to her. She tries to share things with him and all he does is hiss. He is just a mean cat. He is not nice to us all the time.
Brook and I slept in the living room and Kylie slept in her room with the blankets over her head. She did not know that we were in the living room. If she would have known she would have been in here with us. It is funny that they come to me and not to their mom. I guess that she is harder to wake up then I am. It could be because she works and she is tired when she goes to bed. I guess that she is fast asleep.
That will be great when they get the trees in. What type are you going to plant? It will be nice when they get tall enough to throw shade. I love to have a lot of trees around.
What did you think of the little girl with the doll? I was not too impressed with her. She did some weird things but she just tried to act too creepy. I guess that we will see what she does next week. There are a lot of people that were on the show and deserve to win more then she did. Oh well that is my opinion.I also heard that she won in another country with the same act.
I like your pillows that you have made. They are really pretty. That is interesting how you got into needle point. You are really good at it. It is nice that you are enjoying it so much. Sounds like you have made a lot of beautiful gifts for everyone. They will treasure them forever.
We will both have to keep praying that our mom’s are around for all the important things that are coming up. She could stick around for my anniversary also. That would be nice. (Tillie)
Well that is about all from here have a great night.

Hey Colleen
No, I think it is because grandmothers are more comforting than Moms….LOL You all must have been freaked out. I can’t believe Mandy slept through it all- wow.
I am waiting for the landscaper now. I am excited like a little kid on Christmas. I miss those trees so much. The cardinal was in and out of the fir tree all day long, (that one I see from my kitchen spot) and I watched the birds in bed as they played in the birch tree.
I thought that little girl was creepy, but good. Not sure I like creepy….LOL The act that got the golden buzzer was fabulous. I am waiting to see a singer that knocks our socks off. none yet.
I am going to try to finish the 3 pillows for the living room today- after the trees are in, as it is goign to rain later. the rain will be good for the roots of the tree too.
Thank you for the compliments. I enjoy crafts and they keep me entertained.
Hope your Saturday is good- Gail started a June site…
Adele
PS Praying Barbara is ok. -
Hey everyone….
Pics of the new trees, and my neighbor helping Gary with the pool stairs.
I sent the pics of the trees to my grands, and this is what Steph wrote back……”lmfao”. They are hysterical, due to the size of the trees, which replaced 40 foot trees…..LOL Hey….they will grow!
You can see the Angel on the old stump. I really like the Angel. So did the landscaper.
