Here we are in November after a very snowy Halloween in my part of the country. At the end of the month we will be gobbling up some turkey!

      Hi Adele,
I’m glad that Heather’s strep is better. I will pray that she has a full and quick recovery on her leg. I never really heard of that palsey-I will have to look it up. I hope no one else gets sick or there will be no one left to look after you and Heather and Tillie. Bobby and Gary are in charge now-lol Is that thought scary enough to make everyone hurry and get better? I still remember when I had mono and poor Greg had to do everything. At least it was just he and I at the time.
No trick or treaters out here-the houses are too far apart. Plus I don’t think there are any families with children out on this road-which ends in a cul de sac.
One of Jenny’s good friends-in fact they used to be neighbors is putting a bid on a house out here on our street. They really want the property since they have sheep and right now have to keep them at someone else’s house. I hope they are able to get the house as they really want it badly and I think it would be perfect for their family.
The shower is close. How are the preparations going? I hope Steph and Amanda are up to the task since you and Heather are kind of both on the mend. How are you feeling from the colitis? A lot of prayers are coming your way.
I hope we see some pictures from the shower. I have tried emailing the pictures to myself so that they get in my picture files but they never show up. I just can’t figure it out. It’s been very frustrating because I had pictures of some of my decorations for fall. Only one of them showed up and I can’t figure out why that one was different from the others that I sent. it’s a mystery that I am trying to solve. Hopefully some day the light bulb over my head will light up. lol

Well they are really dragging out Halloween here. Because of the rain they have moved Trick or Treat night to tomorrow night. They still had the Light the Night party for the kids last night. It won’t matter this year now but they are wanting schools closed the day after Halloween now so the kids don’t need to get up for school. It is getting crazy. I am just wanting Halloween over at this point. It was never such a big deal before. But no matter no kids are on this street, mostly retired people. It is now cold & windy here. How much snow did you get Gail? I hope you did not send it with the cold.

      Hey Sue
There are a lot of communities up here that delayed the trick or treating, due to the high wind. I am praying the wind did not make your door open. The wind was awful, and it kept me up most of the night. I had a few windows open because it was 71 when we went to bed at midnight.
Hope all is ok with your place!!
      Adele

      Hey Gailster
I wonder what the difference is between the ulcerative colitis, and the one I have- ischemic colitis. I know Brent has been dealing with it for a long time. I am glad Brent is feeling better.
Too bad that you were not able to check out the new girlfriend in person. What was your take on her over facetime????
I hope the mother of Jenny’s friend does get the house. That would be nice for you, especially if your grands visit over there- they could come by and see you too at the same time!
So, Gary has been quite nudgey and says I am a lot of work. So, I then went over all his surgeries, incidents, and hospitalizations and what was required of me when he came home…..LOL
Bobby said between the 4 of us here, there is not one whole healthy person….LOL
Soooo, Tillie and Bobby gave out the Halloween candy last night….LOL LOL
I certainly do hope we will have pics to load on here, for all of you to see. All our supplies are in the Jeep, ready to be transferred to another vehicle….God help us all!!
      Have a good night.

      Hi Everybody,
Well can you believe that it is November already. It just seems like time is going by so fast. We did not have any trick or treaters at our house either Gail. My brother gets 60 to 70 kids at their house every year. They live in a big subdivision and so there is a lot of kids. I told him that I am jealous I would like to have at least 10 kids here. I cannot imagine how much candy they have to buy.
Adele I hope that all of you are feeling a little better. Men do not realize how much work it is to take care of a sick person. Men are the worse ones to take care of. It is good that your son is there to help. I thought they had choppers that were electric and all you had to do is put the food in and it would chop it. There was no pushing or turning anything. I will have to look and see if I can find it again. Where are you having the baby shower? I thought it was going to be at your house. It is nice that it is not going to be you do not need the mess. None of you are able to do all that work. I know that it will be hard for you to watch others do things but you need to take care of yourself.
Gail that will be nice if they become neighbors. It will be fun to see kids in the neighborhood even if it is only grands.I never can post pictures on here. My grands are working so much they do not get to come over that often. They use to be here once or twice a week. I hope that you get to meet Brent’s new girlfriend soon. I hope this one will be a keeper he needs some one. I do not think kids that age should be alone. They are so far from home. How much snow did you have on Halloween? We had some flurries in the morning but they stopped and we did not have any stick. It sure was cold though Aliza went trick or treating and called when they got done. She had fun but her and Owen decided to come home they were getting cold. The poor kids had to wear coats so no one could see their costumes.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone survived the spooks & goblins last night. We don;t get any unless someone brings their grand kids, but otherwise no. we had our monthly management meeting Wed. then afterwards they had food for us. swedish meatballs, chicken wings, deviled eggs, & cupcakes.
I haven’t read all the posts yet so forgive me for not replying to em.
I can’t believe it’s Nov.!! You wouldn’t believe the weather we’re having. Temps above normal, no rain in sight for the next several days, & dry as a bone. I guess I lied about the fire season being behind us. The whole west coast could use some of that rain!!! Just to help putting out those horrible fires in Ca.!!!

Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
      Have a restful weekend.

Would you ladies say a prayer for a friend of mine? I was talking to her daughter at the store today. She has a rare form of pneumonia & is getting no worse but no better either. They say she is okay for now but don’t know what will happen. She is on oxygen all the time but she has the kind she can take with her so she can get out some. I know she will appreciate the prayers as her husband was a minister so she knows the power of prayer.

I have another friend that will be 99 tomorrow. I called to wish her a Happy Birthday but she was not home so I left a message on her machine. She is amazing for her age.

We were very cold in the 20’s this morning but it has warmed to mid 40’s going back down tonight. I can’t believe Adele is in the 70’s as she is further North than I am but I think this is coming from the West this time & not from Canada. Gail is so generous sharing with us.

      Hi DD,
It would be nice to go to the meeting just for the food afterwards. The wings and swedish meatballs sound really good. It sounds interesting that they have meetings every month. Do they let you discuss any problems that you have or do they just talk.
Our weather has been cold here. Wish we could send you some of our rain. I hope that the smoke does not come your way from all the fires in California. They sure are having more then their share of fires there. It is so sad all the people that have hd to leave their homes.
We do not get any kids here on Halloween. I wish that we did I enjoy seeing all the kids dressed up. The grand kids do not come out here anymore it is too far to drive and they have school the next day. They do send a lot of pictures though.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi DD,
I like the wreath made out of Indian corn. I agree with Colleen-the food at your meetings sounds good.
Speaking of wreathes-did you see the contest Quacker is having for the Christmas wreath on the home page?
I’ve already entered. One day I wish one of us would win one of the giveaways. I would like to know who gets the stuff at least once.

      Hi Sue,
I will say prayers for your friend. Pneumonia can really knock the stuffing out of a person-sometimes it takes quite a while before you feel like yourself again. Happy birthday to your 99 year old friend. That’s amazing. Next year I hope she gets on a Smucker’s jar for her 100th.
We got about 4 to 5 inches of snow on Halloween. Fortunately it’s melted as we don’t have the plow on yet.
You know when I think back on it now when I was in grade school we had the day after Halloween off anyway as i went to Catholic school and the day after was All Saints Day- a holy day of obligation which was usually a day off school also. Colleen and Adele-you guys went to Catholic school-do you remember that? However, I don’t think schools should give the day off after Halloween. The younger kids are probably home and done by seven o’clock anyway. It’s just another unnecessary day off in my book and there are enough of them already.

      Hi Colleen,
Well we won’t be meeting Brent’s new girlfriend until next time we go to NM which will be late next year. Unless he comes home over the summer and brings her. I’m just glad that he has the companionship again. We’ll see how things progress as time moves on. I really don’t even care if he or Jenny ever get married again as long as they have someone to do things with as it’s not much fun going to the movies or out to eat alone. And it gets worse when you get older. At least Jenny has tons of girlfriends-Brent doesn’t even have that as even when he lived here he only had a couple of very close friends. And I think he may have one or two male friends in NM to do some stuff with. Lately he has gotten into target practice and I know he has a friend that he does that with.
We had 4 to 5 inches of snow so the kids were trick or treating with boots and heavy coats. It’s all melted now at least.
I hope Mandy is doing well since she got her own place and I hope her job is going well.
No matter how old our kids get we still worry about them. speaking of getting old Brent’s 20th high school reunion was this past weekend. He didn’t have any interest in going but gee-where did all that time fly to? It seems like just yesterday that he graduated.

      Hi Adele,
How are you and Heather feeling? Hope prep for the shower is going well. Thank goodness Enzo’s mother is feeling all right-she will have to hold down the fort along with Steph and Amanda.
One of the differences between UC and colitis is that UC is an auto immune disease. Plus I think with UC you get not only inflammation but also actual ulcers in your colon.
We had a quiet weekend. We grand dog sat on Friday so we have not been over to Jenny’s to visit in many weeks now. We did see the kids when they dropped off and picked up the dogs though and we were able to give them the stuff that we brought back from OKC for them.
They went to an indoor water park for the night so Luke and Callie stayed with us.
I think we went straight to winter even though it’s fall until December 21st. It’s been cold here. Brrrrr!

      Hi DD!
Glad you survived another Halloween too.
I love the Fall pics- I have that platter. I love the colors on it.
It is getting cooler on this side, and snow may be coming on Friday.
The shower went well, and we are all extremely tired today….LOL I will load some pics on here and post them….eventually…
Hope your day is going well!

      Hi Sue
Of course I will add prayers for your friend. How is she doing today? How is your 99 year old friend??
That 70 degree night was a one and done. It has been very cool in the day, and cold at night. We have had the heat on for a while. Don’t you just hate it when we have to turn the heat on????
They said we may get snow on Friday. God help us! I have a dentist appointment on Friday, so I hope they are wrong.
DWTS is on tonight. Let’s see which couple gets eliminated tonight……I am betting another good one, the way it has been going.
Hope your day is gong well.

      Hey Gailster!
The shower went well, and we are all exhausted today. The man who is in charge of the hall rental took pics of Steph’s decorations, and said he has never seen anyone do the hall that way. We told Steph she could end up with a job for party decorating. That would be great for her and for her self esteem! Wait until you see the cupcakes they did- Steph and Marissa decorated them.
I got a call from Marissa about the adorable little Big Bird I got from Macy;s for the baby. Luna grabbed him, and ripped his head off. She did no go after any of the other stuffies, just Big Bird. How funny is that! So….Luna murdered Big Bird.
I went on line and got another one. I think I will save this one until Christmas….LOL
Did you have fun puppy sitting? i hope you can get to Jenny’s this weekend, as I am sure you miss them a lot. Aizen and JJ were really bored yesterday. They were drawing pics at the shower. That was fine, as they were sitting quietly while other kids were running wild. I thought it was pretty funny that way they looked at the more active kids. Those two do not join right in with the fun. they kind of look at it from the sidelines, and make faces, as if they were adults.
I hope to load the pics on here soon, so I can post a few for you girls to see.
I am waiting for my OT person to come. I was pretty lame with my PT person this morning…..LOL Heather is napping from her PT session. She has to get to a neurologist to see if the nerve will come back. She is getting some sensations in the leg, but the ability to move her toes is quite small. She was telling me….look how I can move my toes……I honestly did not see them move. But, I did not tell her that. I told her that was fabulous. So, the movement is very slight, but there is movement.
      Hope DWTS is better tonight…….

      Hi Gail,
It will be nice if Brent and his new friend will be able to come and see you this summer. It is a shame that he cannot come home for the holidays. I really miss the kids more on the holidays. Especially the grands. Oh well it is what it is and we cannot change things.
Oh my gosh that was a lot of snow for this time of the year. I cannot imagine what the weather is going to be like this winter. We have had some flurries and that is not usual in October and it was really cold. The kids all were in winter coats. They still had fun though. Did your grand kids have fun on Halloween? What costumes did they wear? Aliza was wonder woman, Owen was Jason and Kaylee was a hippy. They are the only three that went out this year. Ethan thinks that he is too old for that stuff. I am not sure what he did.
I really think that if the worse dancer on DWTS wins this year people will quit watching. I have really been disappointed in how the voting is going. I do not know how they can change it but they need to do something.
Have you been watching qvc lately? I have to agree with you that they are repeating too many shows. They do not have as many new items either. I was really disappointed in the Christmas shows also. I have not found the cute things that they had in the past. I am going to have to find a new place to shop. I wonder what is going on with them. I hope they start to improve.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
It sounds like the shower turned out really nice. It is nice that Marissa got compliments on how the hall was decorated. I hope she got a lot of really nice things. I am glad that there were enough others to do all the clean up.
I hope that the tests that Heather is getting feeling back in her foot and leg. It is hard to go thru that. I will be saying extra prayers for her. She is too young to be going thru this.
Did the kids do the crafts that you bought for them? Your grands are just a couple of really good kids. I bet you were really proud of them for behaving like they did. I cannot wait to see the pictures of the shower.
That goofy dog.I wonder what the attraction was to Big Bird. It is funny that was the only one that he bit the head off of. At least you will be able to find another for the baby.
It is raining here again tonight. We have to go out and put the pool cover on again. I think that we are going to have to buy a new one. We found a pillow to put in it when we closed it so at least we found that. I am really getting tired of the pool. It is a pain to try and find a decent cover. The one that came with it is not very good. It won’t stay on the pool.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen
The sower was at the local yacht club. They had the best price for rental, and very easy to get into- no stairs. the bathroom was in the room too, so no walking all over the place.
I started to send the pics of the shower to the laptop, but I have not loaded them yet. So time consuming to load each one at a time!
I am actually working on putting Halloween away. I got two big boxes done today, and now I have to prep veggies for sausage/pepper/onions tonight.
I run out of steam fast, and typing on the laptop hurts my hands lately.
Saw DWTS, and I was shocked on who got voted off!
Hope you are good- it is pouring up here.

      Hey Colleen
Well I did order a new Big Bird. I told Marissa Ill save it here for Christmas for the baby….LOL Did you get something for you Itty Bitty ??
I cant wait until these Itty Bitty’s are born. Marissa said they may use my Dad’s name as a middle name for Little Sonny. His name will be Santino, but they will call him Sonny. that’s a real Italian name….LOL Add Domenic to the middle and it is even more Italian!
Steph is the one who did all the decorations. Marissa helped her in the end, even though Steph did not want her to help. Steph wanted it all to be a surprise, but, when Heather ended up in the hospital, and with a leg she could not feel that had to change.
I am so glad it is all over. She did get a lot of beautiful gifts- almost everything she had on her list on Amazon. She has to get a few more things, and has gift certificates she can use for them. They have a lot of really good friends, and tons of Italian relatives.
I have some of the pis sent on email to my computer, but I need to individually load them on here…..hoe to by end of week. Today I put away some Halloween, and tomorrow off to the 2ond knee shot. It is pouring up here- makes me so dam stiff!
You need a cover that is at least 6 to 8 feet wider than your pool to have it stay on. That goves enough room to cover the pillow, and still have enough to drape well over the edge.
Hope your day is going well….do you believe who they voted off DWTS?????

Two very tired but very happy grands back from the mountains and our little one. Bless his little heart; he has so much energy and he has such a small area to play in their apartment. I wish so much that they were able to have a yard for him to play in; but just not the right time I guess. Jerry was so stiff and hurting from the drive; but he wouldn’t say anything to the kids; but as soon as the door closed he would tell me so much that I knew we wouldn’t be able to stay long; so I tried to make the most of every moment. All the way home I just bit my tongue. He fussed over how Sarah just sat and wouldn’t offer to help us or Neal; but even when I would say there is nothing we can do or say; that would set him off again. I know pain is behind so much but I was so tired. Our baby is so sweet and just loved up to us both; and when Sarah said, they have to go home; he immediately said NO; I dont’ want them to go…boy, did that make everything worthwhile. Can’t wait to see them again for Thanksgiving. He was Spiderman for his costume. It was pouring rain; but everything was covered in their complex.
Your shower sounds just grand, Adele. THe decorations and goodies must have been so great for everyone to keep on complimenting about how pretty it was. I love the babys name, and his nickname of Sonny. He is one lucky loved little fellow. I know all of you must have been exhausted at the end of the day. I am glad to hear that Heather is home. Praying that she gets good news from the Neurologist. Did they say what caused this? You probably said in a note I haven’t seen. Does she use a cane or walker? Glad you are getting your knee injection Adele. I know you have said they really help you. I hope your colitis has calmed down too. Ischemic before any other medical term means lack of oxygen; other words not as much oxygen as normally reaches the organ or part of the body, has a temporary or permanent decrease in the amount of oxygen it usually recieves there. Did that make sense? That leads to the next question of what caused this decrease? Hope you are feeling better. But the shower sounds just beautiful and fun for all. Your little boys did such a sweet job sitting there so nicely while all the ladies had fun doing “girly” things. Such good manners; I know you were proud.
Colleen and Sue, I would like it if they changed Halloween each year to say the last Saturday night of October; so parents had plenty of time to get the little ones ready; not worry about homework or next day school. That just seems to make more sense to me; but there must be some reason I don’t know about. I wouldn’t care what Saturday they chose; but just pick one. lol Speaking of time; this Fall Back has us all messed up. We are both sitting here at 7 or so now and falling asleep in our chairs. We don’t know when to eat; but we are getting hungry and it is only 3:30 or so. I really wish we didn’t have to keep changing our times back and forth. Joey worked Saturday night; and he said it was “painful” to turn back the time and then have to work an extra hour that night. Really brought back memories to me. I so agree that I hope Brent is happy with his new lady. I agree with you Gail; with not caring so much whether they marry as long as they are happy. I still feel in my heart that Joey and Lisa would have been happy without marrying. I believe they care for each other; just don’t see “love” but pray it’s just me. So glad to hear that Brent is feeling better Gail. You are so right; we don’t ever stop worrying about them; our children, our parents, our nieces/nephews, puppies/kitties; you know what I mean. And yes, I too lie awake at night sometimes wondering where the years have gone.
Better go for now. So glad to be home Barbara

      Hi Adele,
I am glad to hear that the shower was such a success. Sounds like she got some really nice things. Gift certificates are always nice to get then you can get what you need. The yacht club is a really nice place to have the shower It is unusual that they are the cheapest hall to rent. That is so nice that Steph did the decorating and got all the compliments.
I was not too happy with the person that got voted off. I thought that Kate was a good dancer I liked her better then that Ally but they neither one showed have been the bottom two. They have others that should have been voted off. It is terrible that they are voting to keep the bad dancers. It a really bad dancer wins this year I am done with DWTS. It is not right how they are doing the voting. There has to be a better way of doing this.
That is really nice that they are going to give the baby your dad’s name. It is good that kids think that much of their families to name them after them. MY grand is not being named after anyone in our family.
We did not get the Halloween decorations out this year. We are going to put the Thanks-giving things up though. I will be glad to get them out. A lot of them were from my mom.It has been a rough couple of days. We got my mom’s dinning room set in the dinning room over the week-end. It has really made me miss my mom even more. I am glad tha I took it because they were going to have to sell it if one of us did not take it. So I took it a stranger would not take care of it like one of us.
I have a few things for our itty bitty. I bought a monkey for him that sings and a story book for Brook to read to him. I have some clothes but not many. I want to find a bath robe for him. I think that they are so cute. It has a hood on it.
Well that is about all from here. I hope that Heather is doing better and you and Tillie. You are all in my prayers.

      Hi Barbara,
It sounds like you had a great time with Colin. Did he have fun trick or treating? I am so glad that you got to go and visit them Your dil sounds like she has not changed. It is sad that Sarah did not do more while you were there. That is so sweet that he did not want you to go home. I know that it made your hearts melt.
Ron is having a lot of trouble with setting the clock back. He wants to go to bed too early and then it throws him off because when he is ready to get up it is still dark. I had to laugh at him. He is worse then the kids.
It has been really cod here today and is supposed to get colder. They are taking about it getting down in the 20’s at night. That is happening to quick we are going to have a rough winter.
I always felt sorry for the people that had to work nights. I guess some places pay overtime for that hour but not the nursing home where I worked. I am glad that I always worked days and did not have to worry about any of that.
Well that is about all from here. We kind of live a boring life around here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen
I am finally able to load some pics from the shower. They show Steph’s decorations- the chairs she brought from home for them to sit on, and the curtain she created behind the chairs for a back drop, and also the table with the goodies- she made the cupcakes. My cookies are in the tin…LOL
I wasn’t happy with who got voted off either. they will start to lose viewers if this continues. I do enjoy seeing them dance, though.
Heather can move her toes. That is a huge deal! She has been working really hard with PT. We could nto get a neurologist appointment until the first week in December. That is a long time to wait.
We may get some snow tonight. Holy crap!!
Hope your weather is ok. My OT person should be here shortly…..
      Adele

I hope Sue’s friend is ok, and DD’s neighbor Critt too.

      Hey Barbara
Some of the pics I loaded on for Colleen’s post disappeared! Ill try again.
Please read the post to her of the things Steph made. I have no pics of me..LOL Tillie commented later and said…nobody took a pic of you. How funny is that! I had on my pretty fall leaves black shirt, with the cardigan to match. One of my favorite Quacker outfits.
I am so glad you had a great time. I know what you mean about Jerry. People over here say I am cranky too. The dam pain plays into so much of our lives.
They never said why I lost the oxygen to the bowel. I have no idea why that happened. I wonder if I will find out at the belly doctor’s visit- not for a while….LOL
Heather has some feeling back in her toes, and is able to move them with a lot of effort. I mean a LOT of effort. She is working real hard on her exercises. She keeps hoping she will wake up and all will be fine. I wish it could be so.
My OT person is a little late, so I had time to write you back….LOL
Hope your day is going well. It is very gloomy up here, and we will have some snow flurries later this evening.
      Hope Jerry is feeling better….

      Hi Barbara,
I’m so happy that you had such a nice visit with Colin. It must have made you feel good when he didn’t want you guys to leave. I’ll bet you wanted to scoop him up and take him with you! It will be Thanksgiving before you know it and you will see him again. I’m glad that he’s closer now and you can see him more often.

      Hi Colleen,
For Halloween Lachlan was some ninja guy, Kendall wore a Slytherin costume from Harry Potter and Piper had a renaissance lady costume-and then she asked me what’s the renaissance-lol. I guess she just thought the dress was pretty.
You know to be perfectly honest I would rather Brent would come home in the summer rather than at the holidays as it’s so cold here and there would be more stuff to do if he came in the summer-so I guess I don’t mind as much. Maybe it would bother me more if he had kids too-that I would like to see at the holidays-but since it’s just him I’d like him to come when we can do more stuff. Speaking of Brent-now they say he has some issue with his stomach so he is being scoped next week. He has lost 8 pounds in the past several weeks and to tell you guys the truth I am just beside myself with worry. The poor guy just can’t catch a break. For a young man he has had so many health problems and even with insurance it is costing him so much money for all these tests. he just can’t keep it up-and I’m so afraid the insurance will drop him-or he will need surgery and not be able to work and he has already gone through his savings on all the other tests and procedures. He just can’t catch a break. I told him we would pick up the copays and out of pocket expenses for these next tests otherwise he just can’t afford to have them done-and what if it’s a problem that needs to be dealt with now? I’m sorry for dropping this on you but I am at my wits end with this-as I worry about his health and his finances. So all prayers would be appreciated.
I hope now that you have your Mom’s dining room set you can remember all the happy times the family spent around that table and you can continue that tradition. You’ll have chances to do that soon with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up.
As to Christmas on the Q I have seen very little stuff that I want to buy as gifts or even for myself this year. I will have to shop elsewear. I think their programming has been very boring and to be honest I watch very little anymore.
As for DWTS I will continue watching no matter what the outcome because I like to watch the dancers-both pros and non pros-so I’m not going to let the outcome destroy the pleasure of that for me. I think it’s the voting public who is screwing everything up-and I have no control over them. People just vote on who they like or who they want to see win without any regard to how they dance or if they are improving. So now it’s really about who has the biggest social media presence and the dancing is secondary-so if the show tanks it’s the fault of the people-not the programming. Plus I think Tom Bergeron stirred the pot when he said that he would like to see the program fee of politics-so people are voting for Sean Spicer because of that-plus the president actually tweets every week that people should vote for Spicer-I would bet he’s never even seen the program. Also-the fact that people can vote before anyone even dances is weird-plus you can only live vote if you are in the eastern and central time zones-so many west coast voters are not included. It’s a mess but I basically hold the voting public and not the network or the producers responsible. Okay I’m off my soapbox now.
Did I ever tell you that Patrick Taylor has another new book and a cookbook? I can’t remember.

      Hi Adele,
The decorations and the food from the shower are fantastic. I loved that snowy back drop and the candles around the chairs. And the cupcakes! How did she get that blue and green swirled together like that! They are gorgeous and please tell her I said so.
I am still praying for Heather to make lots of progress. How does something like this even happen? Maybe I missed the explanation. Read my message to Colleen for an update on Brent’s health. He just can’t get ahead.
Maybe Luna attacked Big Bird because she is part Lab and they are bird dogs. lol I guess she just wanted her own stuffie.
So the baby will be Santino-Sonny for short. It’s very cute but it makes me think of Sonny Corleone from the Godfather and Sonny Corinthos-from General Hospital-both mob guys. lol That really is delving deep into his Italian side.
How are you guys making out over there since the four of you only make one whole person. Thank goodness for carry out and delivery.
We had snow again here last night and it’s very cold today-like in the 20’s. Very early for all this nastiness. It makes me afraid for the winter.
This winter we are buying a different kind of insert to put into our fireplace which will generate more heat-it’s still wood burning but we can also close it off totally at night so I don’t have to worry about a stray spark burning down the house while we are upstairs asleep. Greg is always so cold in the winter. I tell him he needs to get fatter like me so he has more insulation. lol

      Hi Adele,
Steph really did a good job with the decorations. It looked like everyone was having a really good time. Tille looked really good. She was really listening to the lady that was talking to her.
That is good news that Heather is moving her toes. Maybe she is getting the feeling back and will be walking without help soon. It is good that she is working so hard with PT. That and all the prayers are being said for her are helping.
It is disappointing that the voting is going like it is. Kate was such a good dancer and she was improving a lot. They need to change the voting. Like Gail though I really enjoy watching the dancing.
How are you feeling? I hope that you are feeling better and were able to enjoy the shower. Did the kids enjoy doing the crafts or did they do them? It just sounds like so much fun and everything looked so nice. The cupcakes were decorated so nice. It is a shame we could not taste them. It would be nice if we could just reach thru the screen and grab one.
It has been cold here. We have not had any snow though. We did have flurries but nothing that stuck to the ground so we were lucky there. Well that is all for now. Have a great night.

      Hi Gail,
The kids sound like they were all dressed really cute. That is funny that Piper did not know what renaissance was. So I wonder why she decided to dress up like that. She is so funny.
It will be nice for Brent to come home during the summer. You are right about not having much to do in the winter. It will be nice if his girl friend gets to come with him. It is hard not to have all the grands here for Christmas but they are coming home this Christmas. They will have a week off. Stephan will take leave so it will be nice.
Oh my gosh that poor man. I cannot believe that they have found something else wrong with him. It is bad when it is your stomach. It is really nice that you will be able to help him with the bills. That is a worry also. It has to be so hard on him to have used up all his savings for all these tests and co pays. We are here for you Gail. You should feel free to talk to us about anything that is worrying you. We all do this and if anyone of us can help you feel better that is good.
It is so nice to have mom’s dinning room set here. We already have it all set up and all my dishes in it. It makes me think about her whenever I walk in the dinning room. It really makes me think of her and dad. We did have a lot of meals at that table. It was in the house when we celebrated my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. It does have a lot of memories.
I know that it is not the show that is messing the vote up it is the public. They need to change it so the public vote does not count as much as it does. They have judges that can pick the good dancers and the ones that need to leave the show. I will probably not quit watching I like to watch them dance. They all improve so much from the first time they danced well most of them do.
Well that is all from here. Brent will be in my prayers. Have a good night.

      Hi Colleen,
Thank you for the prayers and the kind words about Brent. I am really beside myself with worry this time around and I know I can always count on my Quacker friends for words of hope and support. Thank you all so much.
I see that I have a doctor’s appointment on the day of the Quacker cookie exchange. Good thing that I can copy it. I have not noticed much new Quacker for this Christmas but that goes along with everything else about Christmas on the Q this year. The gift shows are boring and it seems like they are already done with the decorating shows. It really makes me wonder about the future of the Q. And if the Q disappears what will happen to Quacker?
I think Piper just liked the pretty blue dress-I don’t think she cared what the costume was called in the package. lol I’m sure no first grader knows about the renaissance-unless they are some kind of genius.
I’m glad Melissa is coming for Christmas. It’s good that Stephen can get some leave then. Your house will be full and you will be able to make a lot of use of your Mom’s dining room set. You will be able to make lots of new memories around that table and reminiscence about the old times too. It sounds like the perfect place for holiday meals and get togethers.
I’m looking forward to this time of year. I like to read some nice holiday books. They are kind of like the equivalent of the Hallmark Christmas movies and are just nice stories to end out the year with. I have a bunch of them on my kindle so I have lots of choices.
Have you been reading anything good lately? I just finished Stephen Kings newest book which was a good one. It’s nice-Sue and I are friends on Goodreads so we can keep up with the books that each other are reading and see if there are any good recommendations. It’s funny-I was also friends on Goodreads with another woman from the Q boards but she dropped me-I guess my books weren’t interesting enough for her. lol The weird part is that she was the one who reached out to friend me in the first place. She’s some kind of reviewer for Amazon-I don’t really understand how it all works but I think she has a lot of books that she has to read.
      Have a great weekend.

      Hi Gail,
It is hard not to worry about our kids. Brent has gone thru so much and he really needs to catch a break. I really hope they find out what it is and they can do something to help him right away.
That is one good thing about having the dvr. You never have to miss a show even if you have to be gone when it is on. I tape all the Quacker shows I always forget when they are going to be on.
It will seem like old times when we had a houseful of people and we are all sitting around mom’s table. I also have some of her table cloths so that will bring back a lot of memories. This will be a hard Christmas. I am dreading it already. I am just so glad that we will have a houseful of family.
I have not read much here lately. You did tell me about the new Patrick Taylor book. I really need to get it. I do not know about the cook book. I am not sure that a lot of things that they made can be found around here. I would realy have to look around.
You always seem to read good books to me. I have read some of the same books as you have. You always find some good books to read. It will be hard not to be able to trade books with mom. I never think about all the things mom and I did together until now. I guess I took all of that for granted. I guess that you never think about losing your mom. She did have a long life.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hope everyone is doing well this evening. It is very cold here; Jerry is building a fire tonight; and we also have little space heaters that we have been using before it turned so cold. It is to go down to 16 here tomorrow night and stay really cold; then warm just enough on Monday for rain but then turn into snow/sleet/ice around sunset that day; so I worry about those out in that mess. Joey has already asked us to make sure he is awake since he will be working Sunday night; but wants to get up after his nap Monday to go pick up Lisa at her job if they don’t let them leave early due to weather. This part of the country is NOT prepared for any type of winter frozen weather. He has to work all weekend. He came up and ate dinner with us last night; Lisa had stayed late to catch up on some paperwork now that she is Manager. We had a great visit. Joey has such a kind heart.
Adele, the shower pictures looked wonderful. And Marissa’s little belly just looked precious to me. It is so exciting the prospect of new life. I know you and Colleen are just beside yourselves in anticipation. Heather and Tillie looked so good too. I pray that Heather continues to improve every day. As well as Brent, Gail. Our young people just should not have to be going through sickness. It really hurts us to see them not in good health. Prayers for all. How are your eyes doing Gail? Good I hope. I have actually turned Jerry on to audio books; had to start with a Western; but he loves it. Now; next step is while we are driving. All of our sons listen when they are on trips and have said their Dad would enjoy it if he gave it a try. I go back and forth with reading and listening. How is your shoulder doing Adele? Did the shot help your knee? Gosh, girls time for some good medical news.
I agree that the cupcakes were beautiful. I would never be able to pull off a decoration that beautiful.
I joing you all in the fact that I don’t shop nearly as much at the Q as I did in the past. So much seems either too expensive or what really makes me not watch is “selling” so much in their phrases “many of you are buying more than one” or “YUM” when you know there is no way possible they can like every single thing they eat. I really like to have a good description, and not much pressure salesmanship. Guess I am just getting older. And don’t even get me started about those reading glasses hanging off the end of one lady’s nose when I don’t see her really reading anything. I just miss the older shows that have just gone away. I am so happy that Jeanne and Quacker are still here. But I worry about this.
Take care all and have a good evening. Barbara

If your son were in Massachusetts, I would say to contact the Masshealth office for insurance through the state. Because of all his medical needs, he would be eligible through the state for help with insurance. They look at your income, and you either pay for it, or get it free. You do not have to be eligible for Welfare. The insurance s a different program. There are many people with either children who have special needs, like Downs syndrome, who pay a fee for the health insurance, just for that child. It is also good for adults with special health needs. He has enough health diagnosis, that he would most likely qualify. Have him check with the Welfare office in his state, to see if they have a similar program.

If that is not possible, have him apply for Social Security Disability. They may be able to help with the medical needs, and give him Medicare for his special needs.

I know this would be embarrassing for him, but this is what these programs are for- US citizens who need some help from the government to meet their medical needs. I hope those programs still exist, as I have been retired for 7 years. There were many kids in care where the workers applied for help through Social security.

I sincerely hope he can get some help.

      Hey Gailster
Thank you- I will tell Steph. She will e happy people loved her decorations, and cupcakes. She used some sort of paint on edible coloring for the top of the flowers. Not sure if I have it right, I just knew it was a special process.
I saw what you wrote to Colleen, and answered with a couple of ideas to help him with medical costs. I am praying those programs exist in his state, or still with Social Security.
Do the doctors have a good idea as to what they are looking for?? Sounds like some autoimmune disorder???
Marissa thinks Luna likes the color yellow. She also went after a duckie….LOL
Heather got a call from the neurologist on Friday afternoon- they have an opening Monday, and Marissa will take her. Also good is that she is ale to move the foot into her other foot. She still cannot move the foot to the outside, or move the leg from the knee down. Still, that is huge progress- first only a minor movement of the toes, and now the foot can move to one side.
They think the cause is an injury to the nerve. So, she may have had the nerve pinched or squashed by the couch cushion when she slept on the couch. We will learn more on Monday. Her PT person said they have never seen that in a person as young as she.
We are all plugging along……so, Tillie hurt herself a few days ago. She hurt her foot shutting off a light. she could barely walk, but, now it is better. I was afraid we would have to go to the ER, buy, she was adamant she did not want to go. I knew it was not broken, as she would not have been able to stand that kind of pain. I am just glad she is better.
Hope it is not too cold out there!

      Hey Colleen!
Please read the other posts for all the updated info. I am trying to answer them as fast as I can, as typing hurts the shoulder lately.
They did not put the crafts I got for the kids out on a table. they decided it would be too confusing. They are giving them to Aizen’s classroom teacher for the school. I was a little disappointed in that. But, it was ok.
I am ok. The shoulder gets better and worst, as I do different things. the bad part, is now the hip on that side is starting. I could scream. I am praying it was caused by some of the PT exercises, so I backed off on a few of the leg ones. I will address it with my PT person next week.
Heather can move the foot too one side, as of yesterday. She got a call to go see the neurologist on Monday as they had a cancellation. We are so happy she has the appointment!
Talk later- hope it is not too cold out there- it is cold here!!

My should er is good and bad. It only hurts when I reach for something, or try to hold something. If I am careful, I can be mostly pain free all day…..accept when I do something like shower, dress, bake or cook…LOL even moving this laptop is a l killer. All in all, I am handling it, I guess. It is all I can do, at this point.
the shots is the knee work like magic. the little annoying pains in the knee are already gone. I have one more shot to go, and then I am good for the year. Thank God for those gel shots! they work magic.
Your storm is coming up here Tuesday. We may get snow- they are still not sure.
Sorry for being quick, but I am being summoned to watch a movie with them…Fighting with My Family- The Rock is in it….LOL

      Hi Barbara,
I am going to try this again. I was getting ready to send an e-mail to you and my internet shut down. So the whole e-mail vanished So here goes again.
It is cold here also. We are supposed to get really cold next week. They have not said anything about snow but we will see. That is nice that Joey is going to go and pick Lisa up from work. I imagine she will be a little nervous driving in the bad weather.
It is a shame that QVC is going down like it is. The new people that they are getting on the show their clothes are so expensive I won’t buy them. Some of them are not very cute. I also agree with you about the food shows. They cannot like everything that they taste. I have noticed that there is always more then one host on those shows. At least they do not have to say they like everything.
Well that is about all from here. I have to finish before this internet shuts down.
      Colleen.

      Hi Adele,
It just is not fair that your hip is starting to hurt also. Can they give you a shot in your hip like they do your knees? It seems like we are all constantly in pain. Welcome to the golden years. lol
You almost have to have one person to sit at a craft table with the kids the whole time. That way they can keep them busy and they will finish the crafts. I can see where it would get to be too much with all the things going on with the shower. At least you found another use for them and Aizen’s class will enjoy them.
That was good news that Heather got an appointment for the doctor. It is also glad that she can move her foot now. Her leg will be next. It will be nice if she can start walking on her own again. Now they have to get you moving better. Then everyone will be better. I will keep praying for that.
I cannot believe that Tillie hurt herself also. Do you think that there is a jinx in the house .lol It seems like this stuff all happens at once. Is Heather still staying with you? I hope that she will stay until she can walk on her own again.
Well that is about all from here. My internet keeps shutting down for some reason. So will talk to you later. Take care of yourself.

      Hey Colleen!
Tillie’s foot is getting a little better every day. I am hoping she can come up for dinner, as Bobby is home and he can get her into the chair lift. She is afraid of the chair lift, and has been refusing to use it. Makes me scream!
How is your granddaughter doing???? Any news from her doctor on progress, size of baby. etc? Marissa’s doctor said the baby is a little bigger then he should be, so they are thinking he may come a little early.
My hip will hurt for one walk to the bathroom, and then magically stop. It is real weird. I can get a shot, but I will need to see a hip doctor first, and go through the entire process. I am so tired of seeing every doctor in Sports medicine North’s practice! the insurance company will not allow you to see more then one of their doctor’s at a time, so every appointment is a different day. I hate that, but, there is no way around it.
I hope your day is going well.
I am attaching a pic of my sausage/veggie/barley soup. It was a huge hit. Steph kept refilling her bowl….LOL
Hope your weather is good. Please say an extra prayer for good news at the doctor tomorrow for Heather….thank you!

      Hi Ladies,
Another lazy weekend. I hope this finds everyone doing well. Don’t forget the QF cookie exchange Wed. 1-3pm ET. I sent an email to Adele just in case this didn’t reach you in time. I got an email from QF showing a video of Jeanne Bice & the cookie exchange.

Dan & Hallie took me to the $ tree this week & I found several things with the old red truck as ornaments, signs, & many other things. I was afraid by the time I got there they’d be all gone, but I got lucky. I’m gonna have to put all my unbreakable ornaments on the tree. As a precaution because of Snowball. She keeps getting into mischief. One day she was running around here, & headed into the bathroom. I hadn’t put the lid down & she almost went head first into the bowl, but was able to catch herself before she did. Every time I go in there she has this idea I have to turn on the water faucet so she can get a drink from it. And yes she does have a bowl of water out here, so I don’t know what’s up with the faucet. She follows me everywhere like a little shadow. Today she came in & sat next to me while I was laying down for a nap. she laid down for awhile then got up & left.
Oh, I moved some of the furniture around this week & someone got her little flat nose out of joint. she went around the room looking at what I’d done & she didn;t like what she saw. How dare I move her stuff around. I can’t imagine her reaction when I put the tree up in that corner, & I move everything around.

I googled where I can have a calendar made & Vista print came up. So I spent quite awhile picking out my pics of Jewell for a calendar. I’m gonna check out other places but so far they’re the most reasonable. My sister had one made up for my kitty, Fluffy back in the 90s. I had to put her to bed due to cancer. I didn’t have a cat until Jewell after that. Mostly because I couldn’t have a pet at that time.
Oh my goodness I’m seeing the temps coming your way. The high pressure bubble finally broke & we got some rain this weekend.
Not alot tho. We need alot more since we’re way behind. It’s the driest Nov. so far in many yrs. We should be getting all those storms out here before you get them. But the bubble keeps them going around us. The last measurable rain we had was late Oct.
I haven’t read all the posts so if I left anyone out I’m sorry. I’ll go back & see what I missed.
      Have a good week.

      Hi Adele,
Maybe after Tillie uses the chair lift a couple of times she will like it. It will be so nice for her. It is good Bobby will be there to help her in and out of the chair. You are so lucky to have Bobby there.
Your soup looks really good. This is another time that I wish that I could reach thru the screen and get a taste. I really like all different types of soup. I have not made any for awhile but probably will this week it is going to be so cold.
My granddaughter is doing pretty good. She still has the same due date. They said that the baby is really stubborn. When they do the ultra sound he never moves the way that they want him to. They cannot get a really clear picture of him. They told he is going to be stubborn boy. If he is he will be just like his mom.
It is good that your hip only hurts for short periods of time. Maybe it will not get any worse then that. Do you remember the good old days when you could go to one doctor and he could handle just about anything that was wrong with you.
My day has gone pretty good. I had to take Brook to get her senior pictures. Then we went out to lunch. We went shopping after that and then I took her home. It has been a long time since I have spent the day with her. She works so much.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
I know a lot of people use audio books but I just have never gotten into them as I think my mind would wander as I am listening. I need to hold that book or kindle to ground myself into the experience. However, I do think it would be nice in the car. I remember years ago I used to read to Greg when we were driving places. Of course now with Sirius radio in the car you can have stuff from sports to comedy.
I agree I liked the Q better when there was not so much pressure to buy buy buy. It seems like years ago it was more conversational and actually entertaining and now it’s more hard sell. I don’t get Shawn with the glasses on her nose either. I guess maybe it’s supposed to be a fashion statement-why I don’t know. Wait til she gets old enough to actually need the readers-then she probably won’t want them.

      Hi DD,
I can’t wait to hear about the adventures of Snowball and the Christmas tree. It seems lots of cats like to drink from faucets and toilets-maybe the water is colder. I’m glad she didn’t fall in the toilet as you know being wet would have made her very unhappy.
We have snow again here today. Probably another six inches. It’s more like January than November as winter doesn’t even officially start until later in December. I hope this is not a hint of what winter will be like-I may never get out of the house again until May! lol I was supposed to get bloodwork today but it will just have to wait as I’m not going out in the snow. I haven’t even seen a plow yet and I know our driveway isn’t plowed as Greg had to leave early this morning for a breakfast meeting with someone who flew in from Washington state. I’ll bet he’s glad to be here. lol Good thing he did put the plow on the truck yesterday though. We already are going to have windchills in the minus degrees tomorrow.

      HI Colleen,
It will be hard this year without your Mom but you will have lots of people around so that will be a good thing. It’s funny you mentioned about missing exchanging books with your Mom. I think that’s the one thing I missed the most the first year after my Mom died was not being able to pick up the phone and tell her about a new book that I was excited about. Now it’s been a long time since both parents are gone so rather than missing and hurting I just think about happy memories. You know this may sound weird but I think when you have not lived close to your parents for a long time it’s a little easier on you when they pass away. I think because I didn’t see my folks that often once I was an adult when they passed away it was more like it was between visits or something if that makes any sense. It’s like maybe the more you get to see them the closer you are-and when you live farther apart you have to disconnect a little bit. It’s not that you love them less-it’s just that you’re used to not being with them as much. You’ve already learned how to miss them. I don’t know if you understand what I’m trying to say or it makes any sense at all. I’m just crazy.
Sounds like you were able to have a nice day with Brook and spend some good time together. It’s hard when they get older and busier.
It’s funny that the baby doesn’t want to turn the right way to get a good picture. Maybe he is camera shy. It’s amazing the 3D images that they can now get. They weren’t even doing ultrasounds when I was pregnant. I think they just started up a little after that.

      HI Adele,
Thanks for the insurance info. I have no idea what programs new Mexico has in place. I will see if he will look into them. I have no idea what diagnosis the doctor is leaning towards. It’s the messed up liver functions that worry me. He is being scoped on Thursday-don’t know if results will be immediate. I’ve been trying to stay off the internet and not look up possibilities but it’s hard.
I’m glad Heather got the neurologist appointment moved up. I hope there’s good news. It sounds like she’s making progress.
Now if only we could get your shoulder fixed. How have you been feeling after the colitis attack?
Your soup looks good. I love soup in winter-and winter has hit us even though it’s officially still fall until Dec 21. We have another six inches of snow and tomorrow wind chills will be below zero. it’s funny I can remember some Thanksgivings where we were all running around outside in our shirt sleeves. At this rate we will be building snow turkeys in the yard. lol
I hope Tillie’s foot feels better soon. I suppose she’s afraid that the stair lift will break and drop her or something. Hopefully she will get past that and use it willingly soon.
It feels silly with my fall decorations up with pumpkins and pretty leaves and there is snow on the ground. It feels more like Christmas.
Yes, this year Christmas on the Q is boring. there was more interesting stuff on their Christmas in July shows. I do have to buy some of those Kringle Express gift bags though. I love them. Easy as pie!

      Hi DD!

First, a Happy Veterans Day to all who served, all who love someone who serves, and all who appreciate those who serve. God Bless America…….

DD, try Shutterfly for making calendars, or anything else. They have 50% off sales all the time.

I think we are going to hear some very funny stories about your kitty and the Christmas decorations. I tidally agree with you- nothing breakable for this year, until you see how she reacts.

Love your holiday pics. Lets all try to get into the spirit of Christmas.

Heather went to the neurologist. He told her it is not just the nerves, it is her spine. She has a curve at the bottom of her spine, just like me. (not feeling good about that) There is one disc that is bulging, and then the bone spurs and arthritis. He does not feel she is ready for surgery yet, so that is good. he wants her to continue the PT, and see him in a month. So, that is the news for now. Heather liked the doctor, so that is good too.

Hope you are good- we are freezing….LOL Glad you got to the Dollar store before it got cold, or snowy put there!!

      Hi Colleen!
It sounds like you had a real nice day with Brook. Going for her Senior photos and lunch was a very nice day.
I am glad her pregnancy is going well. I pray for each of them every night, that their babies will be delivered without any incidents, and both will be healthy.
Marissa came with Pina this morning to take Heather to the doctor. (please read post to DD for info) Marissa looked quite large this morning, like the baby grew 4 inches….LOL Her face looks a little swollen too. She is getting that end of the term look. Maybe the doctor is right, and baby Sonny may come a little early. Who knows!
So, tonight we have another DWTS. I wonder if Sean Spicer will remain for one more week.
i cut out the recipe for French onion soup. I am dying to try it! I am starting to make my list for Thanksgiving. Bobby put his foot down, and spoke to the rest of the family, and they told me I can make only one pie this year. They all feel it is too much to do 5 pies, and will order them form this very good bakery in Everett- called Elm St. Bakery. I insisted on doing one, as it would not be a holiday if I do not bake something!
What are your plans for this year- what are you making?? We will do the mashed potato, cheesy potato casserole, and cauliflower/broccoli cheese casserole. Of course there will be corn, and butternut squash, and the sweet potato casserole too!!
I hope you are warm today. It is gloomy and chilly up here- snow for tomorrow, but not a lot.

Totally agree, girls. You no longer turn on the Q for entertainment. The hard sell is not as good as the conversations they used to have. the “friendliness” is disappearing. If we liked HSN, we would watch them! We like the personalities, good conversations, etc. The Q is not just about selling, it is the customer loyalty that also matters.

      Hey Gailster!
I love those bags. I got them in July. The only thing I got this weekend, was the small automatic hand held compressor. I thought it would be great for tires, and the kids’ bike tires, so I got one for Gary ( he saw it and loved it-imagine that!), one for Jhonny and one for Enzo. So, every household has one for Christmas.
Wow-you are getting blasted with snow! We are getting some tomorrow. But, not much, thank God, as my lost shot is Wednesday. You should put your tree up!!
I am so sorry Brent has to continue to suffer with no adequate diagnosis and plan. Do you trust his doctors? Just wondering. I hope he can look into help with insurance, and get some. Please stay off the internet. You get the worst case scenario, and nothing to help you through it. Easier said than done, I know.
My belly has been good, and I am trying salad this week……yikes!! I have been dying for salad.
Tillie’s foot is better, and she has agreed to come up for dinner. Bobby is home, so he will make sure she gets in the chair lift. Whats spooky about it, is that the foot rest is very small. You feel like your feet are not all the way on it, and I think that is what bothers her. Your feet have to be on it, so they do not hit the stairs going up and down. You realize the feet are not going anywhere, but, she is 93. Things are scarier for her.
Please read the post to DD for the Heather news. Nothing bad, I guess. Just no definitive answers on how long she will be like this. She liked the doctor. He said it is not just the nerves, it is the spine. She is responding well to PT, so that will continue. She goes back to see him in a month.
After the doctor, they took her to Pina’s house. She needs some fun outside time, so that is good. I bet she will be exhausted when she comes back, and that is ok too.
Hope the snow stops over there!!
Hey…what are your food plans for Thanksgiving??? (read mine on Colleen’s post)

      Hi DD,
I wrote to you yesterday and the whole thing disappeared. I think that there is something with my computer. I think that I will try again. Hope this goes thru.
That was nice that Hallie took you to the dollar tree. They have such cute things there and at a good price. They are a lot cheaper then any other place that you can go to shop. They are better then the Dollar General stores.
Snowball is something else. She was lucky she did not fall into the toilet. That would have been a mess. I have heard of cats trying to drink from a faucet to get the fresh water. They do it even if they have a bowl of water. Cats are funny animals.
The calendar that you are having made sounds really cute. It will be nice to have all those pictures of Jewel to look at every month. I hope that you can find a place to do that for you at the price that you want.
It is freezing here. We have snow on the ground already. It is really early but it is pretty. We only have an inch on the ground. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Gail,
One thing that was really hard was mom had just bought a Fanny Flagg book and I read before she did. I wanted to tell her how it ended and talk about it. We never got to talk about it because I did not want to spoil the ending for her. Now I wish I would have told her. She never got to read it.
I know what you mean about when you do not live close to your parents. We lived in Rockford for a long time and did not get to see my parents for long periods of time. It took time to get close to mom again. I did so much with out her and then when we got home it took awhile to go back to doing things together.
It was fun with Brook yesterday. She was telling her mom about what a nice time we had together. So I was glad that she enjoyed the day. It will be nice to spend the day with her again.
We have snow here also. Not near as much as you. It was about an inch but it is really cold. It is in the teens here. It is realy supposed to get really cold tonight.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
That would be cool if the baby is born earlier. It is not uncommon for them to be wrong about the due date for a first baby. My oldest was born before they thought she would be.
I like French onion soup. I like the topping they put on it when you get it at a restaurant. I hope that the recipe that you find is really good. If it is you will have to share it with us. I would like to try and make it at home.
Good for Bobby. He is right you do not need to do all that cooking and baking. It will be nice if they bring the pies and maybe help you do some of the cooking. Next year you can do all the baking and cooking. Maybe your shoulder will be better by then. You just have to take it easy this year and take care of yourself.
That was good that she saw the doctor and now she knows what she is dealing with. Hopefully she will not have to ever have the surgery. You can handle things better if you know what is wrong and what you have to do to get thru it. With all of you there helping her it will make it easier. She will get thru this.
Our Thanksgiving dinner will be about the same as last year. We will have two different types of dressing, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, mushroom salad and I do not know what else.
It is cold here tonight. We even got some snow. It is about an inch so it is not as bad as what all of you get. It is just really cold. It is down in the teens now. It seems like the temp just keeps falling.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night

      Hi Colleen,
So I know Melissa is coming for Thanksgiving-will Mandy and the girls and Danyielle and her family be able to come also. If so you will really have a houseful. I know Danyielle sometimes has to go to her SO’s family so I was not sure about them. I think Owen and Kendall are the same age and Lachlan and Kaylee too-aren’t they getting big? Is Ethan in high school yet-if not he must be getting close.
Maybe Jenny will finally introduce us to Ricky at Thanksgiving. It’s actually getting kind of silly now that we have not met him yet. Awkward much! lol
You know I have made onion soup in the crock pot before but it’s been awhile. Then I just toasted some bread and put it on top with cheese. It was pretty good. I will have to see if I can dig that recipe up again sometime.

      Hi Adele,
Hopefully Heather will improve to a full recovery. Also even though she has the similar curve in the back to yours maybe hers will never cause her problems. Everyone is different and has different experiences with the same issues. maybe because she knows ahead of time she can take some preventative measures too. I will keep praying for her and for you and that shoulder.
Don’t worry about the pies. It’s not about the food it’s about the family. As long as you can get together it doesn’t really matter what’s on the table. I know it’s hard for you because feeding people means love to you-but I’ve learned to let certain things go and found it doesn’t make the celebration any less joyous-in fact it gives me more time to just enjoy the company. Baby steps!
As far as the Thanksgiving feast Jenny has it at her house-so I just bring a few things over-usually a seven layer salad, some kind of gelatin salad and some kind of vegetable. Jenny makes the turkey, stuffing, rolls, cheesy potatoes. No one but Greg and I will eat sweet potatoes so I do miss them. sometimes I just make them at home for us when I get the taste for them. I can’t believe I have kids and grandkids that don’t eat sweet potatoes. It’s like nature’s candy.
The compressors sound like a good idea.
I haven’t found any gifts from the Q this year. Oh I take that back I ordered some Philosophy and some stuff from those goat guys. I can’t believe that they stopped showing decorations in September and have had little or no toy shows. Their programming this holiday season sucks! I always look at the new arrivals every morning and did you know they have gotten in a lot of things like maternity clothes and baby stuff. Of course they have thousands of things that they never show on air-they should show some of this new stuff and stop showing the same stuff over and over. I can’t believe they even stopped showing Christmas trees about a month ago and even their set decor does not look as extensive as it used to. Just a few trees plopped here and there. I’m afraid that they are going down the tubes. Too bad. Quacker has had very little new this season. I suppose they are saving it for the show tomorrow but how much new can they show in one day. They used to have tons of new for Christmas. Things are changing at the Q.
I hope Tillie got on the chair lift last night.
I trust Brent’s GP-as to the specialists I really don’t know anything about them. Brent likes the GP too so that is good.
You have a knee shot Wednesday I have a yearly rheumatology check up. it’s supposed to snow so I hope it starts after I am back home. Then I have a hair appointment Thursday morning so I hope it has stopped snowing by then. I can’t believe this worry about getting to places in snow has started already. This seems like it may be a long winter. It’s very cold today. Too early for these kind of temps.

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED DWTS YET!!!!!!

So glad Sean Spicer finally went home. I actually think he was kind of relieved too as I think even he was getting kind of embarrassed by continuing to be on knowing everyone was so much better at this point. I also think the judges gave him extra low points last night and gave everyone else really high scores-maybe all on purpose. I was also glad that Gleb got a decent partner this year even though I don’t think Lauren will make it to the finals.

      Hey Colleen!
An inch of snow is not too bad. We have been having snow flurries, with no accumulation. It will be freezing tonight. We will break records.
So, this morning, Heather fell when she got out of bed. She fell on her butt, and said she was not hurt. She got herself up too. But, today she is using the walker instead of the crutches. She said since the doctor did the reflex test, her foot has no feeling.
The onion soup recipe has the bread and cheeses in it. I really want to try it. I will let you know if I do.
I am always amazed that everyone likes mac and cheese as a side on Thanksgiving. It seems like a very heavy addition to a heavy meal….LOL Not that our cheesy potatoes, and other stuff has no butter at all in it….LOL LOL I have been wanting a nice dish of mac and cheese for a while, and nobody made any- not me, and not Bobby….LOL It is such a yummy comfort food!!
Guess what!! I finally got the call for the in home doctor for Tillie. She will now have her GP come to the home- it is a new thing up here. We have been on the wait list for almost a year. I am very excited!! Her appointment in next Friday.
Hope all is good with you!! Did you like DWTS last night?

      Hey Gailster
Please read the post to Colleen for the Heather news…..
I am totally in agreement on the Q. What is up with the boring stuff? I used to get the coolest gifts from them. It has been very disappointing.
it is about the family, not who made the food. But, what I love is the smells of the holidays. The smells of the pies baking are better then the taste of the pies….LOL I know Bobby is thinking of me, and wants me to have a good time on Thanksgiving, and he is right.
I certainly hope you will be bale to finally meet Jenny’s boyfriend. Did I ever tell you I have never met Amanda’s boyfriend? How funny is that.
I hope your appointment tomorrow works out well, and there is no snow or slippery roads for you to deal with. Also hope you are able to get to the hairdresser too! good luck with your appointments.
I am glad you trust Brent’s doctors to do the right thing for him. I hope he gets some news soon. I still can’t believe he is going through so much at his age. So not fair.
No, Tillie changes her mind again, and did not come up for dinner. She did not come up tonight either. She keeps saying her legs are not good. She hangs onto the walker for dear life, and is way bent over. She is walking in a very unnatural way, and I swear that is what is giving her all the trouble with her legs. But,nothing I can do, as every time I say it, she says I am hounding her.
Hope you have a good night!!

My goodness are we ever COLD here tonight. DOwn in the teens for us and not over the 20″s for tomorrow. Guess what? Jerry and I have our doctors appointment tomorrow too. Down here; if you are on any kind of pain medicine you are required to come in every 3 months for them to ask you questions regarding drug abuse. It is absolutely ridiculous. But hopefully we will get out of there without “catching” some illness from someone in the waiting room who is sick. I told the doctor when this all started was sick people and well people should NOT be in the same waiting area. I am not being ugly; but I know if I am sick I don’t want to make anyone else sick. We both got sick last year after seeing him and we were both well at the time.
I am very hopeful about Heathers leg and foot. And so glad she likes her doctor. Will continue to say prayers for her. Hope Tillie is feeling more like joining in tomorrow. Mabey if you tell her Adele, that you really need her help and she can help you now that it would make her feel useful instead of a burden to everyone. Just a thought. So glad your shot helped you. I really understand what you mean about the “smell” of the holidays. It just floods me with memories of days gone by. One little hint; I use the frozen deep dish pie shells to save me time baking my pies now. They really do taste good. I will do a pecan; pumpkin; and two chocolate cream pies; if all goes as planned.
It is getting close to baby time! Colleen; I bet your little one is so handsome that he just wants to show off when he makes his big arrival. Thats cute that they are already calling him stubborn for not facing the camera. lol I haven’t bought hardly anything off the Q this year. I was hoping for some good toys, but was so disappointed.
Love your kitty stories DD. You have quite a little rascal there. Our kitty jumps up and lies down all curled up in the bathroom sink sometimes. He also will take his paw and open the linens door under the sink and get up in there and make a bed on the bathtowels. He won’t come out no matter how much we call him. He would climb up our Christmas tree until he got a little too round to go up it without it starting to tip over. He definitely does not like for anything to be moved in our house. So I understand how your kitty was about you rearranging furniture. I hope Critt is doing better too. And the lady who was hospitalized.
Sue did you get a lot of ice or snow? Hope not. Sounds like you did Gail and Adele. I won’t go out in that stuff. What is the plow you mentioned Gail that your husband has on the truck? Does it help with the snow? Hope Brent is doing better too.
Better go for now. Hope we all get only good news at our doctor visits tomorrow. Take care everyone and stay warm. Barbara

      Hi Gail,
Melissa is not coming home for Thanks giving she is coming for Christmas. She cannot come home for both holidays. The other girls will be here for Thanks-giving. Mandy may have to work but we will work the meal around her hours. I hope she works days and does not have to work to close.
You are right about the kids being the same age. It is hard to believe that they are the ages they are. They are growing too fast. It will not be long and they will be driving. That does not seem possible.
If you find the recipe for the onion soup I hope that you post it. I would like to try it. I do like that you can fix it in the crock pot. It doesn’t seem like it takes as much work when you just put all of it in the crock pot.
I did find a few gifts on the q but not as many as I use to. It is a shame that I could not find the unusual gifts that I use to get for my sister-in-laws. I bought them a bell ornament but will have to go to the store and find something else. I could not find anything while I was on vacation. It is hard to do.
The baby clothes that they show on the Q site look cute. They had a robe for the baby pictured on the ad but when I looked to find it it was not on the things that they had for sale. I guess I will go to Penny’s and see if they have them.
You really are getting a lot of snow already. This is just too early for snow even in your area. I hope that you got to the doctor and the hair dressers okay.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
It is a shame that Tillie will not get on the chair lift and come upstairs. Maybe the doctor that comes to see her will get her to use it. I hope that she will like this doctor and talk to him and listen to him.
Poor Heather she is lucky that she did not hurt herself when she fell. When will the therapist come back to see her? Maybe then he can work with her and help her get some feeling back in her foot. That is aggravating to go to the doctor and be worse then when you went. At least she got back up on her own.
We just started having Mac and Cheese a couple of years ago. We started because Brook is a vegetarian and she need to have something to eat that would fill her up. She would not eat the dressing because of the meat in that and the one kind I fix in the turkey. It is hard to fix meas for her. You have to be careful of everything.
I was so glad that they voted Sean Spicer off the show. It was about time. There is one girl on there that I wish would get voted off but she probably won’t.I think her name is Ally I am not sure. There is just something that I do not like. I don’t know why but it is just her personality. She will probably win the mirror ball the judges really like her.
We have not done much here. It is too cold. Ron has a dentist appointment that will be the excitement for the week. They are seeing him at 7 in the morning which is way too early for anyone to have to go to the dentist. lol We had to find a new dentist ours retired. He will be hard to replace he was so good.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
That would be a pain to have to go to the doctor to get your pain meds. They know that you need them and you are not abusing them. I am so glad that they are not doing that here. I do not like going to the doctor that often. It is not fun to go there once a year.
The baby does not come for two more months. We are all getting anxious for the day to come but we want to enjoy Christmas too. I have bought a few things for him but will have to wait until he is born to buy more.
I am like you I do not make pie crusts any more. It is a pain and then mine do not turn out right most of the time anyway. I am going to buy the pies this year. I will get the frozen so I will have to bake them and get the fragrance in the air. So we still have the smells of Thanks-giving.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Adele,
Fanny Flagg is an author-I think she was also an actress at one time. She’s probably most famous for the book Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe which was turned into the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. Very heartwarming stories that make you feel good-sometimes a little sad too-kind of like a Hallmark movie.

      Hey Barbara
Well, I have to say for the last few years I have been using the package of 2 pie crusts from Pillsbury, that come rolled up. All you do is roll out the dough in your pie pan. I get more than I need, as I always use at least one of them for decorations- cut out with the cookie cutters for the edges….LOL LOL I love them, as it looks like you did the crust yourself, especially with the decorations around the edges.
It is the smells that remind us so much of the holidays. I guess I could light a Yankee Candle with a similar smell….LOL
I hope you do not get sick from your doctor appointments, as it would be just in time for turkey day,and you are having a load of very happy company!
It makes me feel good that you are encouraged from Heather’s progress. I know there is hope, when you see it. so, today hr back hurts her, and she is very sore. I told her it takes a day for you to feel the pain form a fall, as your nerves go into shock. I just hope she did not do any more damage to her back. Her PT was here today, and he checked her out, and said she was ok.
Did my final knee shot. Upon walking out, the knee was screaming at me…LOL he must have it a hot spot. But, after using the ice, it was ok again….
Miss Tillie said she is coming up for dinner tonight, ad we are only having frozen chicken fingers and fries- baked….LOL Go figure. She does love her fries, even if they are frozen and baked….LOL
We did not get any snow. But, we broke the records for cold temps in November. I had on my turkey cranberry colored shirt from the Q. Gary was not dressed as festive as I….LOL
Sooooo…..Steph goes for her drivers test tomorrow. None of us have spoken to her, as we do not want to freak her out. Marissa is taking her.
I NEED PRAYERS PRAYERS PRAYER for her to pass. If she flunks, I may never be on here again, as depression will set in for sure!
Also please a prayer for a firefighter who lost his life saving people early this morning. He is only 39. and has 3 small children. Makes you sick.
I hope you are good, and it is warmer down there.
I hope Sue is ok too! I know Dd has betetr weather than the rest of us.
      Have a good night

      Hi Colleen,
I knew Melissa was coming for Christmas and not Thanksgiving-I just got my brain mixed up. I think with all the snow and cold that we are having I feel like it should be winter instead of still fall. Hopefully you can work around Mandy’s schedule for Thanksgiving.

I think that recipe was in an old crock pot cook book-hopefully it is still around here somewhere. It does take a bit more work than some crock pot stuff as you had to saute the onions on the stove first if I am remembering correctly.
I’m not sure what baby robe you saw on the Q site. Did you mean like a swaddling cloth-as I don’t think babies wear robes. Now I’m picturing a baby in a smoking jacket like Hugh Hefner. lol
I did get to the doctor’s successfully today. It was really windy and the snow was blowing over the road but I got there and back safely. I had to stop and get gas and I was wishing for the olden days when the man came out and pumped your gas for you. That would be the only reason to live in New Jersey. lol I know they used to still pump it for you in Oregon too but I think that may have changed now too. I remember Debbie telling us that she didn’t have to pump her own. May DD knows what the situation is now. I miss Debbie. I should email her and see how she is feeling nowadays. I can’t even remember the name of the disease that she had-maybe Barbara will remember.

      Hi Barbara,
That’s funny that it was doctor day for us all. I got good news he’s letting me do bloodwork less frequently-every four months instead of three so i like that. I love my rheumatologist-I hope I can keep him when we have to switch to medicare.
I know in immediate care they always make you wear a mask if you are coughing.
I also know that they are being a lot more careful with the opiods and pain meds now. I understand why but it’s a pain for those people that use them responsibly.
today was the first time that I actually used the parking spaces at the doctors for senior patients. I guess I just didn’t realize until now that I really am a senior. lol took me several years!
We have a pick up truck and you can buy a plow to put on the front of it-so he puts it on in the winter and takes it off in the summer. It’s pretty much a necessity out here with the long driveways and we also use it at out apartment building. There’s been some days that Greg has shoveled our whole road with it.

      Hi Adele,
I hope that Heather will be okay after her fall and I hope Tillie will come upstairs for dinner.
That’s exciting that she is going to get a home doctor for visits now. I wish we had something like that when my MIL lived here. It makes things so much easier for both the patient and the caregiver.
Greg doesn’t even like mac and cheese so I never serve it. I think you see it on Holiday tables more in the south. At least that’s what I’ve observed.
That’s funny that Amanda has an invisible boyfriend too.
Well the Quacker show today had three new things and I’ll bet that will be all for the Christmas season. Even Quacker is not like days of old at the Q anymore. However, I was glad to see the corduroy pants in short back in stock so i could get some more colors. I actually have a gray pair of them on today. They are nice and warm for going out in the winter and believe me around here it’s more like January than November weather wise. I read the report and Quarate which owns the Q keeps losing sales.
Also now Dean’s Foods is in chapter 13. A lot of people we know around here work for them. They say it’s going to be sold but I hope people don’t lose jobs. Adam works for them and so does one of his brothers-so I hope their jobs are not in jeopardy.
Brent is supposed to be going for that scope tomorrow so keep praying.

      Hi Colleen
I hope the weather gets warmer for you. It is freezing up here too.
Please read the post to Barbara, as all the updated stuff is in there….LOL Sorry, as i am trying o answer everyone….LOl
I feel the same way. So glad Sean is gone, as the rest don’t deserve to be off before he is. I am not sure who Ally is. I don’t like the bachelorette- not sure what her name is.
I peeked at the baby clothes on the Q- wow, are they expensive. But, I bought a set of 3 socks that have rattle son them and look like trucks for the baby.
Are you excited about Thanksgiving, with almost everyone there???
Now I get it. We had vegetarians in past years, but they did not last- Amanda and Steph were for a while, and then they gave in. I have to see if Bobby will make his mac and cheese- maybe this weekend….yum, yum.
I hope you have a good night! I got to see Marissa for a minute this am before I went to the doctor. She looks so cute!

PS…hope the dentist works out ok too.

We made it back from the doctor and we got in and out quickly, thank goodness. Jerry and I used so much hand sanitizer while we were there we reeked. lol But we are just so afraid of picking up something especially when we are well when we go in. He was happy I guess today. He laughed with us about this requirement of coming in due to pain med questions (do you share, do you sell, do you have suicidal thoughts etc.) and his last question was “are you doppy, sleepy, grumpy?” So even I couldn’t get mad for this ridiculous rule here. The insurance companys thought this up in our state; so guess that means something not so great about our state. So glad to hear you made it there and back safely Gail, and great news about your labs. Yahoo for that. We also had to get gas; and I ran inside the little convenience/gas store and got 4 morning leftover ham and biscuits under the warmer light and brought them home to our puppy dogs. They were so happy. It went down to 16 degrees here last night. I don’t know how you all can bear those temps. We have “thin blood” I guess. Poor Jerrys hands were freezing after he finished pumping the gas. He “forgot” his gloves. I keep mine in my jacket pocket and wish he would. Yes, Gail, I wish for those days of having people come out and help you. love talking to people like we used to.
Colleen, I wondered about the baby things on the Q. I have found some really cute little outfits at Target and Walmart for lots of baby toy things. I bet your Fannie Flagg book is so good. I love her books. Do you remember the one that I think was her first one “The Grass is always greener Over the Septic Tank” That was a good one too. I agree with you about saving some of your excitement for itty bitty and really enjoying this Thanksgiving and Christmas before he makes his grand entrance. Just think, this time next year he will be pulling up or swaying back and forth on those little arms and legs and trying to stand. Boy, does this time fly. Our little one said really loudly to me when Neal called us from outside and I Hop where he and Colin were about to go in and eat, “MiMi, Guess What? I want to tell you something….” and then off he went to tell me how he and Daddy went to see Power Rangers at the movie and Daddy got him some popcorn, and Daddy wanted to eat all his popcorn” Neal said “Boy, you ate all MY popcorn” Love to hear them banter back and forth. Don’t know where Sarah was, and didn’t ask. I know I’m being childish, but I have tried really hard and no more.
Adele, glad your shot is helping. Love your premade pie crust idea. That would really make everyone think homemade. And I think everything that I cook in our kitchen is “homemade” since it’s made in the kitchen. ha ha You decorate cakes so beautifully. I know where everyone gets their decorating talents from. That is so cute that Tillie loves French Fries. My suggestion about lighting a candle I base on my experience. I bought a wonderful smelling apple cinammon candle from Yankee Candle a few years back and it had the kitchen and dining room smelling so good. Well, we ate dinner, and I noticed Jerry was looking for something in the oven, and on the bar, and all around. I asked what are you looking for? he said where did you put the apple pie? After I told him, which he didn’t believe at first, there was NO apple pie, and it sunk in that there really wasn’t it was the candle smell, he was like a petulant child who lost their sucker. He had his mouth all set for warm pie and ice cream. I broke down and baked him one a few days later, but I learned not to tease a man with a good smelling “food” candle; they want the real thing. lol So proceed with caution. ha ha
By the way; just a suggestion; and you ask the doctor, but I wouldn’t want Heather to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk weighs. THat has sort of been the standard if you have injured your back or have low back pain. I know they told Jerry this too, but he was not as compliant as I was after I had gall bladder surgery. Just check with the ones taking care of her. I pray Steph does pass her driving test. Just tell her to take deep breaths and take her time. She knows what to do; and we all have faith in her since she is so smart. Also prayers for the poor fireman and his grieving family. Oh how terrible especially this time of year. God bless and help them all.
Better go for now. We are having roast and veggies from the crock pot started this morning. House smells so good. Take care everyone. Barbara

      OMG Gailster!!
Both our kids are having a momentous test. Not to say a drivers test is any way as important as a health test. Brent’s is way more important to pray for. Steph just needs her license, once and for all. It would make life so much easier, especially since Heather is now laid up too. Prayers for Brent tomorrow, for good news.
Gary does not like mac and cheese either. He is a no cheese man. Imagine someone who never had a slice of pizza? Un-American!
Tillie came up for our simple dinner- frozen chicken fingers and fries. Her lack of hearing is really getting worst. she cant get the hearing aides in, and doe snot bring them up too have us help her. I guess if it means there is an effort, it just does not get done. She did use the chair lift-hallelujah!
Speaking of hallelujah….do you watch Pitch Perfect? OMG…I love that show!
Glad you got home safe after the doctor appointment. We still have gas stations that pump gas- you just have to pay a few cents more. There is usually one pump that is not marked “self serve”.
Heather’s friend is coming to visit tomorrow, and the ma who does the braces is coming to make her a more permanent one, with pads inside for comfort. Plus, my OT is coming too. So, that makes 3 visitors for tomorrow….
      hope your night goes well!

      Hey Barbara!
I am with you- I would not have asked where she was either. You were having such a nice conversation- why ruin it?
Your doctor at least has a sense of humor! We dont have that rule up here.
Thank you for the prayers for tomorrow. I wont sleep tonight!!
That story about the candle and Jerry is hysterical! It guilt-ed you into making a pie- that is even funnier! You are such a good wife. You put us all to shame!
I saw the clothes for babies on the Q- are they nuts?? 100 for a top and bottom??? Really?
I cried all through the news when they showed the fireman and his family. they were leaving today for Disney world. Can you imagine??
Hope you have a good night!

      Hi Gail,
Well after you get it all in the crock pot you just let it cook. You do not have to keep an eye on it or stir it all the time. It is the hardest thing about making soups and stews. Stirring and cooking.
I think about Debbie sometimes. She was funny and she always had a lot to talk about. Remember her dog that would eat money? She was so funny that she would get the money back and tape it back together. She was a character.
It was not a swaddling cloth. It is a robe with a little hood on it. You use it when you get done bathing the baby and you keep him warm. They can wear them when they get a little older. They are really cute. I have bought them for my other grands when they were babies.
I am so glad that you made it to the doctor and back home again. Were you able to get your hair done also? It use to be so nice when they would come out and check your oil clean the wind shield and pump the gas. They would even check the air in the tires. Now you are lucky to find some one that will fix a flat or change a flat tire for you. It is a shame that we lost that service.
We have lost so many things since the times changed. Remember when department stores would deliver packages to your home. They had their own delivery trucks. It was nice if you had a lot of packages and could not carry them all. Tey had one store that did that when we lived in Rockford but not for long. They stopped just a few months after we moved there.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
It was Erma Bombeck that wrote the grass is greener over the septic tank. I do not remember who wrote they thought it was Fanny Flagg but I will write it there. Fanny Flagg writes some really good books.
I am not sure I have that girls name right. She looks like she is Latin or something. She just gets on my nerves. I will watch next week and get her name right. I thin she and her partner got all 10’s for their dance. I do not know if that helps.
I am really excited for Thanksgiving. All the kids that live around here will be here. The older grands do not have to work so that is nice. The restaurants they work at will be closed. I was glad to hear that. They will not have to work Christmas either so that is another good thing. I wish they could all be here but got to take what we can get.
That is nice that Bobby will make mac and cheese for you. I am hoping that Brook will start eating meat again but not sure that she will She has been eating chicken so maybe she will eat turkey this year. That would be so nice. She stopped eating meat because she would get sick to her stomach and they thought red meat was the reason. That is why she became a vegetarian but she should have just cut down on how much she was eating. I think that would have helped also.
I will be praying for Steph and for Tillie and for you. Will also pray for Marissa. The girls do look so cute being pregnant. They are so tiny and have the big bellies.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
That is funny about the candle. Poor Gary looking all over for the pies and all ready to eat pie and ice cream. That was nice that you baked him a pie later so he could have that and his ice cream.
That is so cute about Neal and Colin going to the theater and blaming the other for eating all the popcorn. It is fun to watch the our kids with theirs. It is cute that Colin could not wait to tell you all about it. Maybe he thought that you would do something about it. lol Maybe give Neal trouble for eating all the popcorn.
Sounds like you were well protected while in the doctors office. Your doctor has a really good sense of humor. He understands your frustration for having to come in there so often and answer dumb questions. It is a pain to have to go back so often. I know that Melissa was saying that they are really strict about giving pain pills. When we were in Cookville some one took my pain pills that I had in the room. They only took the pain pills and nothing else. I have never had that happen before. When I went to Cookville with my daughter some one was smoking pot in her room while we were out. They had to give her another room. It was really weird.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night

      Hi Colleen!
Well, Steph got her license. Hallelujah!! We are all thrilled. A good day, with good news.
now, lets hope Gail gets good news with Brent’s doctor appointment.
I remember Erma Bombeck. She did one of those advice columns too, way back in the day. I never read one of her books.
The girls do look so cute pregnant. I still cannot imagine Marissa with a baby. Since she is the baby grandchild, it is just too funny for me to imagine.
I can’t believe Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks. I have to finalize the sides this weekend. I really love the Brussels sprouts with bacon, but I have to think if we really need it. i guess we could make it another day….LOL
Marissa and Steph came here after she got her license. they decided to do a BJ’s run. I hope they find the Welch’s sparkling grape juice. they advertise it, but then it goes out of stock so fast. We have those at every holiday.
It is still cold here. the weekend is supposed to be near 40.
You will have to see who the one is on DWT that you don’t like. I bet it is the one who is a bachelorette….LOL
      Have a good day!

      Hi Adele,
That is such great news about Steph. She got her license YEA!! I bet she was so happy when she got to your house she was doing a happy dance. It ws so good that Marissa went with her. I bet she could not wait to tell the kids and Johnny.
Erma was so funny. I loved her books and to hear her talk on shows. She was always so funny. It was sad when she died. I think she had some type of cancer.
How do you fix the brussel sprouts? I really like them but not very many of the others do. I will also make a cranberry salad for Thanks giving. My mom use to make it every year for Thanks Giving and for Christmas. Everybody really liked it so I will keep the tradition going.
I am just glad that Sean was voted off. It was about time. He stayed on the show too long. I will tell you who that girl is after next weeks show. I may have to look on the internet and see if I can find her name.
It is cold here still also. It is supposed to warm up next week. I am not sure how warm though. It will only last a week and then it will get really cold again. It is the time of the year for the really cold weather to start any way.
Well that is about all from here. Tell Steph congrats for getting her license. Have a great night.

      Hey Colleen!
Thank you for your prayers- they worked. Marissa said Steph was so happy, she hugged her and cried, and thanked her for going with her and helping her through her fears.
It is Heather’s recipe for the brussells sprouts. I made them from a recipe on line- not Heather’s. I know they have bacon, and get roasted. Last year I made them from the recipe I found, and everyone said it was not as good as Heather’s. So, you really need her recipe….LOL
What is in a cranberry salad?
It was in the 40;s here today. So, Gary went outside with the Christmas trees, and blow up stuff. Blow ups are dead. So, I went on line and got 3 from Amazon- way better prices than Home Depot or Lowes. I got smaller, cheaper ones, as it looks like they do not last….LOL
Its going to be colder again tomorrow. It has been hot chocolate weather up here.
Have a good night……hope Gail got good news on Brent. I also hope Sue’s friend is better too.

Greg and I had a busy day out shopping for a fireplace insert and then we made a trip to Costco. So I just wanted to catch you guys up on what is going on with Brent. He has a bunch of ulcers, an infection in his stomach and they biopsied a growth but we won’t know what that shows for ten days. So he has to give himself antibiotic shots every day and sees his doctor every three days to make sure the antibiotics aren’t messing with his heart and thyroid meds. Keep praying that the biopsy will be benign.
On a happy note my sister got a new dog after losing her dog last summer.
I am tired from all the shopping so I will write more another day.

Thank you Gail for the update with Brents tests. Wish they were sending a home health nurse to give him his shots. Bless his heart; that is hard to do to yourself. But since he knows they will help him I guess he is willing to do just about anything to finally get better. Will definitely keep praying for him. I know you all exhausted. Bet you rest tonight. For some reason, Jerry is having a hard time sleeping too like me. I am used to it. I will be so sleepy around 9, fall fast asleep, and then wake up around 2 or 3 and cannot go back to sleep. We both stayed awake last night from 3 until after sunrise.
I bet there was lots of celebrating with Stephs success with her driving test. That is such good.news. we needed some. Adele, down South we make what is called fried pies. I use those same premade pie crust sheets for them. You cut the pie sheet in quarters and fill with some cooked dried peaches or apples, then fold the pastry over the filling and seal, then fry or I also bake them. Very old time recipe passed down for years. I love how you are making your Moms cranberry salad to carry on the tradition Colleen. I feel this is one way we keep our loved one there with us always. One of our traditions also is putting a picture of our loved ones who have gone on out on the bar or kitchen table for the “big Meal” Just something we do in our family. I hope our boys carry this traditon on.
I think of Debbie too Gail. She loved her puppy dog and her weimeranian was so similar to Ellie that she used to give me really good advice when I had questions about her. I like to think she is living the traveling with her hubby life since she was finally able to get well. I remember how much she went through; thinking it would just never come to an end. Hope all is well with her. I guess I missed the note on Sue’s friend being sick. I hope things are going better there too. I miss hearing from Sue too. Hope her door is not giving her any more problems.
Better go for now. Take care all. Barbara

      Hi Adele,
It is so nice that the two sisters got to do that together. It was great that Marissa was able to go with her. It is so nice that they can share that tie together.
If Heather gives you the recipe then you can share it with us. She must have a really good recipe if everybody liked hers better then yours. You are such a good cook that I cannot imagine her recipe being better then yours.
Cranberry salad is cranberry sauce, jello, nuts and sour cream. You just put that all together and let it set in the fridge. It is really good when mom made it but I guess that I do not do too bad because the kids like it. They usually eat all of it.
That is so aggravating when those goofy things will not blow up again. I do not blame you for getting the cheaper ones. They are so cute though. Did you get any of those that they sold on QVC? They always have such cute ones.
I have to try to find all my Thanksgiving things to put out and then get to the Christmas stuff. My rooms are so full of stuff. We also have things that Ron’s sister gave Ron from her house. After her husband died he had some things that he wanted Ron to have. Then she had a few things of hers that she gave me. So we are running out of room.
It has been warmer here also but it is supposed to get colder again. This weather is crazy. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Gail,
Why can’t doctors ever run tests and let you know what is wrong. They always make you wait and everyone worries. He will do fine giving himself shots. I know it will be hard at first but once he gets the hang of it he will do fine. Melissa had to give herself shots and she made it thru. She is a big baby when it comes to doing things like that. She had to do that after they let her go home after she got so sick after Kaylee was born. I will be praying for him.
      Have a good night.

      Good God Gailster!
that is awful, even without the biopsy results. What is good, is the antibiotic will clear up the infection.
Of course we will all pray for Brent;s biopsy to be negative. He has been through so much. His health struggles need to end, so he can have more of a life.
Prayers sent to Brent!!! Also for you, as you must e worried to death.
      Love you!

      Hey Barbara
Thank you for the prayers and well wishes for Steph. She is laying low on the license thing in the community, as her feelings were very hurt in the school yard the other day. Can you imagine someone asked her is she lost her license through a DUI, and was that why she was taking the test again??? she was mortified. So, now she think everyone thinks she had a license, lost it through a DUI, and that’s why at age 29 she is getting her license again. Can you imagine? You know how sensitive Steph is. that was all she needed to be real quiet about her big achievement.
Funny thing is, my friend Nancy’s adopted son has no license either. He is 34. He has no intention to get a license, and Nancy drives him everywhere. every time someone finds out he has no license, they say the same thing to him….did you lose it because of a DUI? What is wrong with people?
Well, I got Steph a gift for her big day. You know how she loves to bake and decorate….so, I got her the new nutcracker baking pan I saw on the King Arthur site. It has 3 nutcrackers on it. She will love it, as she loves the bunny pan I got her years ago.
I just finished making my shopping list for Thanksgiving dinner, and the turkey has been ordered. So, we are all set. Accept Mr Bob has to order the remaining pies….LOL
Hope all is good down there. we are getting a rain/sleet storm on Monday. I hope Sue will be ok down there.

      Hey Colleen
I took a pic of the recipe I used, and loaded it on here. Heather is here, so I don’t think Ill get her recipe this year…LOL I also had to use my recipe for Sweet Potato Casserole, as her recipes are at her house. She is not feeling to good today, as she is still sleeping and it is 1:40. I called her at noon, and she said she did not sleep well, and needs to sleep. It may be all the PT yesterday, and the bad weather coming- we are getting a rain/sleet storm for Sunday night into Monday, I think.
So, yesterday I was having trouble with my back, as I tried to fix the closet where we store all supplies….the husband has been in there a lot lately. So, i asked my PT if we could work on my back. She did these awful things that hurt like hell, and then she moved my legs allover the place to stretch out the back. When she pressed on places, it was awful, but I told her to continue (she said I had awful knots in my back) Well, when I got off the bed- no back pain at all. She is amazing! She also works at Spaulding Rehab in Boston. They get the worst cases- they handled all the Boston Marathon victims.
I want to ask her how much she charges for a private visit, so I can call on her when my back goes out, and insurance wont pay for those for sure….LOL
I hope you will be able to get your Mom’s and Ron’s families decorations out for Christmas. That will be so nice for you to have out. It will make you feel good to see her pretty things. I bet the girls and your grands will like to see them too.
It s cold up here. I can’t believe how cold it is this early. I hope this is not a symptom of how this winter will go….yikes.
Hope you have a good day!

      Hi Adele,
I will try that recipe for the Brussels sprout. We will like that . We have never had Heather’s so this will be really good. I may try it one day this week. Ron will eat it also.
I am sorry that Heather is not feeling very well today. Therapy can really take it out of you if they do very much. She is so lucky that they will come to the house and she does not have to go to them. It makes it a lot easier on the patient.
That was nice that she worked on your back. How nice to get up and not have any back pain. It will be so nice not to have her there to work on it. I hope that she will come and do that privately. It would be nice to have her come back when you are hurting really bad. Mandy was supposed to come over and help me get things out. She went to look in the room where they are and said she would wait until I get everything out of the closet. She wants some of my mom’s things but if she does not want help me get this stuff out then I am not going to give her that much. I will give them to Melissa when she comes she will do anything that I ask her to. She is such a good kid. She does a lot for me whenever she comes home.
I know it is really cold here also. It is unusual to be this cold but I guess it has happened in the past. When they check the statistics it shows that we have had snow in November before.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
      Colleen
p.s. That was awful what they said to Steph. My mom did not get her license until she was in her fifties are early sixties. I took her to get her license. We always laughe about that.

Adele My brussels sprouts is almost like yours but instead of vinegar & brown sugar you drizzle honey over it. I just love vegetables roasted in the oven. I see that now they have bags of vegetables in the store prepared & mixed ready to go. Save on prep work.
We are still very cold here. I hope we don’t get snow next week because they are putting a new roof on here starting Monday.
Glad Steph got her license. The remark was probably made as most kids want to get their license as soon as possible so it is unusual for an older person to be getting one. That does not make the remark necessary just may explain it. My Mother never had her license at all. So it was good when I could drive because she could not go any where when dad was working unless she walked.

      Hey Colleen
I hope Mandy does help you with all the decorations. If not, I totally agree- give Melissa more of them, as she will help you more.
I hope you like the Brussels sprouts recipe. It is really good!!
Heather said she is getting her period, and that’s why she feels so bad. But, she is starting to get sensations back in the leg. Unfortunately. this time it is pain sensations. even so, it is good she is getting feelings back.
It is very gloomy here today, and cold and raw. Tomorrow will be the ice storm. I hope it gets just warm enough for it to be rain. Ice is very scary.
I have a crock pot beef dinner going. It makes the house smell so good. Also makes it feel warm. It is the beef dinner I do myself- I know I sent you girls the recipe for it a long time ago. Simple and yummy. Unfortunately, I had to get up at 8:00 to get it into the crock pot by 9:00.
I hope your day is going well, and it is not too cold out there!!!

      Hi Sue!
My Mom never drove either. It was more common back in the day. Steph was really spooked about it, especially since she went for the test before, and she flunked. She flunked for not looking all ways enough for the tester. the tester is no longer a police officer- just an employee of the DMV.
I am so glad she finally got it. You have no idea!
]I do agree on the nasty driving comment. It is very unusual for an adult not to drive!
OMG…..will they put on a new door for you too, or at least a new jam ( not sure how to spell that-the thing around the door that keeps the door in place, and the drafts out) I am so hoping they give the door more attention, so you will be nice and cozy this winter.
Those pre-done veggie packages- do they have a lot of salt in them? I love the convenience, but they always load them with so much salt. Every once in a while, you are lucky and they are made with less salt.
Will you be home for Thanksgiving? I am hoping you will have someone to dine with. I hate thinking of you and DD alone on holidays.
Hope you do not get the snow, and we do not get the ice!!!

      Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. I’ve been in a bit of a funk the past few days. But it’ll pass. I’ve been making up a calendar for next yr using my pics of Jewell. Walmart has prints for 9 cents, & calendars starting at $9.99 you make yourself with your pics. They have different sizes & layouts. I also found they do ornaments as well.
Adele, I;m sure you’ve told me, but who is Pina? I’m sorry I forgot. How is Heather? I hope the fall didn’t hurt her too bad. How is her leg? I hope they can find out the main cause, & fix it.
I don’t remember ever having mac & cheese for any of the holiday dinners. I don’t remember having it at all growing up.
I agree with all of you about Spicer being on DWTS too long. He looked embarrassed when it was over. I think he knew he’d been on too long, that there were lot better dancers being voted off.

Out here we’re not allowed to pump our own gas. At least it employs people.
Speaking of employment, small businesses are dropping like flies out here. The tariffs no doubt.
I didn’t know the Q sold baby clothes. I never see em.

I’m so sorry, Adele, that Steph had to go through that with those comments. I didn’t get my license till I was 34, & my sister never did get one. Give her a big hug for me. I had Godzilla for the driving test, so I knew when I passed it, I knew how to drive. She was a tough cookie.
I don’t know if any of you watched soaps or not, but I saw where the whole cast of Days of Our Lives was fired & filming has stopped indefinitely. Strange.
The computer’s acting up so I better close before I lose it.
      Take care & stay warm!!

      OMG DD!!
You have to think of a way to turn around the making of the calendar and ornaments to a happy thing. I don’t want to think of you sitting there doing such a pretty calendar, and crying through the whole thing. Who is there to give you a hug??? Can you do the calendar with Critt, so you have someone to talk to as you do it?? I have done so many of those things on Shutterfly, and you can make pretty borders, and add decorations to each month. This is a nice thing to do, and I pray you can do it and be happy. Make a magnet for your fridge too!!
I just hate to think of you so sad, all the way on the other side of this country.
Heather is ok. She is getting more feeling back in the leg- some not so good, as it is some pain. But, still good, as the leg is waking up.
Nobody up here feels good today. We have all hit the “Alleve” bottle today. We are having a big rain storm. All of us can barley move. My back was so stiff, and sore, I looked like I was 90 this am. LOL Gary, heather and Tillie all had to take Alleve today. This storm is doing awful things to arthritis. But, the great thing is, no ice! It was not cold enough for ice, and that is fabulous for everyone.
Pina is Enzo’s mother- she is the paternal grandmother of the new baby….who is not here yet….LOL
How could you remember all the names? Between all of us, there are a lot of people we talk about….LOL
Dying to see who gets voted off tonight. I know Colleen hates one woman, but she is not sure who she is. I don’t like the bachelorette woman….LOL
Hope you have a good night, and can enjoy DWTS with a smile!!

      Love you!!

      Hi DD,
With every picture that you pick out try and think of something funny that Jewel did. It may make it easier when you go thru the pictures. That is how I get thru some of the pictures of mom. You may even laugh when you start thinking about it. I hope that this will help you and if you get too depressed give snowball a big hug.
They just started selling baby clothes. I have not seen a show on the air but they have shown them on the internet. I wonder if they will ever show them on air or if they are just post them on their site.
I like your pictures. They are so cute. I like the candle surrounded with the dried corn. I wonder what it is like after the candle burns for awhile. It is really cute though.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
That is the rough part of getting the feeling back in her leg. It will probably be like that for awhile. She really will have a rough time for awhile. Did they give her something for the pain? I hope they did she will need something.
I baked cookies last night and the house smells really good. What is a pain is that I cannot eat eat any of them. It would be nice if I could eat at least one of them. lol Oh well such is life.
That sounds like around here. If it is cold and rainy we both have to take something for soreness. We have Alleve. IB profin, and I have pain pills. So we take what ever we need. It is not fun getting old. It sure isn’t for the weak.
I have to start buying things for our Thanks-giving dinner. I ordered some of Davids cookies off QVC to fix for the holidays. The way things are going we will not have much time for baking. I will have pies to bake but will get the frozen kind. I think that I am just getting lazy.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
That was so sad about James Van der beek and the lose of their baby. That was so tragic she was too far along to lose the baby. That is just so sad. I do not know what else to say.
The one that I do not lie got saved her name is Ally Brook. I wanted to see them vote her off but the judges lie her and so they will see that she wins. She has been their favorite and even if she makes mistakes they give her a good score. That is terrible that I dislike her so much. I do not know what it is about her but I cannot help it.

      Hi Ladies,
Thank you for the concern about the pics of Jewell. I’ll get thru it. Sunday was the 6 month anniversary of her passing. That was a big part of it. Some months the 17th comes & goes, but other times I fall apart. Same goes for my mom. Nov. 21st will be the anniversary of her passing. It took me yrs to get past it. She passed away just before T’giving in 1986. It was the absolute worst holiday season of my life. But the time between then & Christmas I went into a crafting mode & made a ton of Christmas things & I still have alot of them. I made ornaments from her laces, rick rack, trees from tinsel, but it was a therapy for me. I took scraps of her material & tried to make quilts but failed.
Colleen, the first holidays without your mom wil be hard. Don’t feel you have to hold back, it has to come out. No one is going to judge you if you do feel bad.
Speaking of Christmas, I’ve started getting things out. I got my Christmas cards out today & went through them. I have a bunch of Thomas Kinkade cards I got yrs ago, but didn’t have the heart to use em. Sounds crazy I know, but they’re so pretty I couldn’t part with em. I think I could have cards made up but don’t think it’d be a good idea. In memory type thing.
Adele, would you send some of that rain out here,PLEASE!!! We got some today, but not nearly enough. We’re several inches behind in our monthly & annual rainfall for this time of yr. We could use some of that snow in the mts as well. Everything is going around us.
I ordered some of those David’s cookies too. And those 3 sides & gravy. I preordered them months ago.
Well, I guess I better get off here.
Have a great rest of the week.

      Hey Colleen
You are not getting lazy. We are all getting old. I am only making one pie, and Bobby is buying the rest. I am not thrilled about it, but, I have to realize how exhausted and sore I am after I do things.
Steph was here today for a while, (this was her first visit driving herself) and I asked her if she wanted to help getting the pretty crystal glasses out to wash. Although she said she loves those glasses, she said it did not make sense if it took that much effort to get them out. I guess we may be going the way Gail does it- paper plates and paper cups….LOL I told Gary I will try to do it myself this weekend- with his help. LOL
I can smell your cookies from here- yum yum.. What kind did you bake? I will be baking 2 custard pies. That is it for me…LOL
i got those rainbow cakes from the Q for Thanksgiving, the one that I got on July 4th that was so good. I know you got them too before. This year they had them in 12 individual sizes. they came frozen, of course.
I cried when James spoke of the loss of their baby. Just awful. i did not realize how far along she was. I nearly died when they voted him off. I wanted the bachelorette to go- I hate her.
What you feel about Ally, my friend Maxine used to call “face hate”- you hate someone as soon as you meet them, just looking at their face…LOL
It poured up here all night long. Finally stopped raining this afternoon.
I hope it is not too cold out there!!

      Hey DD!
I wish I could send you some rain. We have had enough!
I loved those sides form last year. But, with this crowd, I would have to order 3 sets, so I chose not to. I may order them for us at home, a little later on.
So, since I was dying for mac and cheese…..when we did take out, that is what I ordered. they have it as a side, but it is really big enough for dinner, with something else small added- I added a spinach pie. Both were really good. Do the places you order form have a spinach pie? This one was filo dough with spinach and feta inside it. The other places have spinach rolls- like an egg roll- also good. I really love spinach anything!
Tonight I am making baked chicken with roasted potatoes in the same pan- easy, and good. Ill do some can veggie or frozen veggie with it.
I feel the same way….we need a little Christmas…….especially with Heather felling “less than”. She really wants to go home, even though she said it is nice to be here with everyone. It has been nice to see her and her brother laugh so much together, even though she is laid up here. He comes up the stairs, and says…”where’s my sister?”
I think that was a lovely and touching story about you and the crafts from your Mom’s beautiful things. Why couldn’t you finish the quilt? Do you have a sewing machine? Do you still have the pieces? Maybe I can help????
I am dying to see the calendar you do. I bet it will be a show stopper!! Go DD!!!! If you think about it, this is the same as when your Mom died. You are doing healing crafts to honor their memory, and heal your broken heart. I think it is a very nice idea.
You know, I started doing needlepoint when I got divorced. It gave me something to do when I was all alone at night. Look how similar we are?? LOL
I hope you have a good night.

      HI Everyone,
This message is to everyone and it will refer to stuff that everybody has said. I’m too lazy today to write individual stuff and i have a lot to say. lol When haven’t i had a lot to say. lol
I kind of feel like brussels sprouts are making a come back as people seem to be using them in a lot of stuff like slaws and such. We always had them at my grandmother’s at thanksgiving and then they seemed to have fallen by the wayside. I like them but no one else around here does so it would be a waste to make them but restaurants have started serving them sometimes.
Greg doesn’t like spinach either and I bought this pasta dish from Costco that had spinach in it and he complained. For cryin out loud when it is cooked in a casserole you can’t even taste it! Oh well-I won’t buy that again. It had a wine sauce too and he prefers a red sauce but I thought this would be a little bit lighter for us. I will scratch that one off my list.
I bought those individual rainbow cakes for Christmas too. I have had the saint claire sides and the David’s cookie dough before too and they are all good. They cookies are like homemade without all the work and that’s what I’m about now a days.
Speaking of that. Adele, don’t go making yourself all sore and tired washing all the glasses. Serve with red solo cups and if the girls don’t like that enough they will come and help next time. I find that the younger generation don’t seem to care about the pretty table as much as we did-so I am not going to go through all that work to not even have anyone care about it. I have learned to make it easy on myself. Regrettably though when I am gone there will be lots of pretty dishes and glassware that no one will want.
The Q is selling baby clothes and maternity clothes too but I doubt we will ever see any of that on air. I think the baby clothes that were so expensive were the barefoot dreams brand that also has all those expensive sweaters.
Colleen, I remember when Melissa was so sick after having Kaylee. I felt so bad because I think Lachlan was born around the same time. Thank goodness everything turned out well and everyone is healthy.
I’m so happy for Steph. This will make her feel so independent and she will be able to help out more and take the boys places. Tell her to ignore the people who make ignorant remarks-she knows that she didn’t have a DUI or anything and those people who ask those kinds of questions just lack manners and common sense.
It’s interesting that so many had mothers without licenses. My Mom always had a license ever since I can remember. Of course when you live out in the country and you work you need the license. Did the rest of you have stay at home moms?
You know I think the mac and cheese on the holiday table is more of a southern thing. However, I have started serving it at Christmas the last few years because the little ones like it.
Yeah for Oregon and NJ-the only states where it’s illegal to pump gas yourself! However, that’s a long way to go for me to fill up. lol
Yes, DD. I watch both Days and General Hospital. Have watched them on and off for forty years. We are hoping that Days doesn’t get cancelled but who knows. Soaps in general are a dying breed and they will all be gone eventually. Days films eight months ahead so they have episodes right now to last through the summer. We’ll see what might happen before they run out of film. The bad thing would be if it would just end without stories being tied up.
I must say I’m on team Adele with this one. I was hoping Hannah would go last night. She seems very phony to me. I don’t watch The Bachelor so I don’t know anything about what happened there. She also seems kind of whiny to me. Plus when Carrie Ann went to hug her she told her she didn’t want to be touched?! What was up with that? Usually when the couples do a contemporary dance it feels very emotional-and her’s didn’t. She doesn’t seem to be able to show her true self. If she stays in I’ll bet it’s because of her partner Alan. He’s very popular. Colleen, I don’t mind Allie. I guess she just must rub you the wrong way. lol Some people just do that and there’s no rhyme or reason to it-it’s just an emotional reaction. I felt very bad for James but maybe it was a blessing in disguise that he was let go as perhaps it would be better for his whole family if he was home with them right now instead of facing another another week of training-you could tell last night his heart wasn’t really in it-and even though his wife told him to go ahead perhaps he felt guilty doing it. It kind of put things into perspective-what’s a mirror ball trophy compared to losing a baby.
At this point I think I would like to see Kel win as he has improved so much and that’s what the program was originally about-but I wouldn’t mind if any of the other couples won-especially a pro who has never won before.
      Okay, I’m done now.
DD-hugs to you. That calendar will be a treasure.
I hope Heather starts feeling her leg without the pain soon.
Hugs and prayers for everyone that needs them.

Hello everyone. So glad your PT lady helped you Adele. I know it just feels wonderful when you are having a good day. It is like a celebration. Jerry and I have really been fortunate this week in that we are doing good, and have been able to go into town several times to shop for things we need for the family coming. Colleen, he let me out at Big Lots and he went on to get a haircut. I was moving as fast as I could to get things, and got side tracked so much, but really was able to get extra wash cloths, bathroom rug for upstairs, paper towels plates bowls etc. Yes, Adele, we will be leaving the crystal gathering dust and using as much plastic as we can. lol What Gail said is so right; the pretty table just doesn’t seem to matter to the younger ones; and the last time I did all the cups and paper plates and off they go. I won’t think about how most if not all of the beautiful things will just be in a garage sale or worse. That was such a beautiful tribute idea you have for your sweet MaMa. You too, DD. I loved Colleens idea to just hug pretty Snowball as I know that Jewell would want. I think it was Jewell who sent Snowball to you to comfort you since she knew what a big heart you have for sweet kitties.
Gail, my mom and I used to watch As The World Turns. It was so funny, after I started working it might be months between times I could watch; and yet she would keep me posted so I would just catch right up whenever I saw one. ha ha I wonder if the young people watch like we did? I used to come home some days and find Jerry watching soaps when I was in nursing school and he had the babies. It was funny because he would always say he just had it on for “noise” to help the baby sleep. Those were some busy hard days.
We are so anxious to see the family. I called our oldest son and asked them to come too. That would really make it special. His job sends him all over the world; and when I talked to him a couple of weeks ago he said they were really trying to talk him in to going to England for three weeks and he was going to take his wife; so they may not be able to come. But mabey for Christmas. I can’t even imagine spending time in England during the “Dickens” time of year.
Sue, hope the roof repairs go quickly. What a time of year to do that job. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. I have already made us two batches of your spice cookies. Yummy as ever. Jerry just loves them, and I have always been the one of us to gobble up the sweets first. lolj
DD, I cut the front off some cards, and hang them on the Christmas tree. I have a Nativity one that I have had for years, an Angel one, and Santa. Had them for years. Do any of you all remember Thomas Piconne ornaments years ago? I have a set we still use.
Better close for now. Hope all is well with everyone. Prayers the young ones will all be better soon, and continue to improve, and tests will yield good results. Barbara

      Hey Gailster!
Well, they all read me the riot act today, as I get very testy when I cook. Downright nasty…LOL I did roasted chicken with roasted baby potatoes, and Heather washed the salad.
I feel the same way you do. Who will use our pretty glasses and china? I am still hoping Enzo and Marissa will. We shall see. Before I thought it would be Steph and Jhonny. they do not look like they want the aggravation of a house.
It was so nice when Steph came by today. I hope she continues to pop by like her sisters do. It is also nice for Heather, while she is stuck over here.
I really cannot stand Hannah. It is the “face hate” thing. Something about her I do not like. She is fake.
Have you heard anything about Brent’s test yet? I am praying for good news for him.
When you and Colleen told me abut the baby clothes on the Q, I looked. Very pricey, and not something you would think cost a lot- nothing remarkable about them. I did get a set of socks that have trucks on the front of them, and make noise when they move.
How has Jenny been? Do you still think this is the holiday you will meet the boyfriend? We will not meet Amanda’s, as she announced today she will go to his parents’ home for Thanksgiving.
I also like the Brussels sprouts done with the bacon. Most of the people here will eat them- probably half.
Hope your night is going well. we ate on paper plated today….LOL
Adele…how is Greg doing with his back??? Your legs?

      Hey Barbara!
I guess i am the last one holding onto china dishes for the holiday. It may be a thing of the past very, very soon, as the crystal glasses seem to be on the way out…LOL
So, tonight we ate on paper plates…mostly because I took out all the Christmas mugs, and put them into the dishwasher. There is not room for another dish….LOL I will decide which ones I keep, and off go the rest. Hopefully to Marissa and Amanda. We will see.
Did you get the 12 rainbow cakes form the Q? I ordered them for Christmas too. the cake on July 4th was really yummy, and everyone loved it.
I do plan to bake for Christmas, as you cannot get the cookies I do at a bakery. My Mom’s Lebkuchen, her jelly Roll, Mrs Regan’s favorite holiday cookie- Vienna Bars, and the Italian Anise cookies. You can get the Anise cookies here, but they are nowhere near the ones I make….LOL
I bet you are wild with anticipation for Thanksgiving. What a great holiday you and Jerry will have, with almost all the kids, and little Colin. You will have a house full of fun. It will be a holiday to remember for many years to come. I will be praying for the best day ever for all of you.
So glad you got so many of the things you needed at the Dollar Store. It is Gary’s all time favorite store.
I remember those ornaments, but I don’t remember what they look like….LOL
On Friday, the in home doctor will be here for Tillie. She has been a little anxious, and acting out a little. She has not come up for dinner at all- we have been sending some down. So, this is the comment I got today, when I told her what time dinner would be done……”I will stay down here and eat nothing, like last night”. I didn’t make dinner last night, as Gary was at school, and I did such a big dinner Sunday. I said to her….I had a sandwich last night” I called her again to say when dinner was, ( baked chicken and potatoes is one of her favorites) and she said….”I had eggs, I don’t need any.” So, this time I said ok. Tomorrow I am doing meatloaf. Lets see what she does tomorrow night. She has cold cuts for the nights I do not cook, or when she does not feel like a big meal. So, she does have things to eat downstairs. I am also thinking she may be a little jealous of Heather being up here every day. Who knows! Life is too short for drama, and I am too tired for it as well.
Hope you have a good night, and have everything you need for next week!
      Adele
PS…..I hope Sue’s roof came out good, and I also hope they did something for her door.

      Hi DD,
I know that this Christmas is going to be really hard. That was my mom’s favorite holiday. She loved decorating and all the baking and cooking that went with it. When she got older we helped with the cooking but she baked cookies up until the Christmas before she died. She made some really good ones. She made the diabetic cookies and the regular cookies for the others. She loved doing. She would bake enough for my oldest sister and I to take home with us. We are both diabetics.
I use to buy the sides all the time also. One year I missed them so made my own mac and cheese and the grands said they like it better. So have not ordered them again. I have to make two different of dressings and they are use to those. It is nice to have them in the freezer for just during the week sometime. I really liked the rice and broccoli dish that they use to make but do nto think that they make it anymore.
I have a set of the Thomas Kinkade ornaments they are so pretty. I bought them off Q a long time ago. I do not think that they sell anything of his anymore. I think that they still make the ornaments. They are copied of the old ones.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
I cried last night also after watching James and his partner do that last dance and they both broke down and cried. It was so sad to watch that and then his little girl crying. It was just very touching.
We very seldom eat off the good china for the holidays. No one wants to help to clean up afterwards so I use paper products. It is not worth all the trouble when no one wants to help with the dishes. If they would go in the dishwasher that okay but who has china that will go in the dish washer. It is really sad we will never have the dinners like we use to.
I made chocolate chip and m&m cookies. Ron really liked them so that was nice. We went to the hill today and bought some pepper mixes. We also bought some Italian cookies. They are really good and do not have as much sugar in them. I wish I knew how they make them. They had a few different kinds but I only bought the one kind today. Ron’s sister and her husband use to buy all this stuff there also. That is how we started going there. It is an old Italian neighborhood and they still have the restaurants and the stores there. It is fun to go there and still see the same businesses there.
We had that really cold weather and now it is supposed to get up in the 60’s. I cannot believe that it is going to get that warm. Our weather has always been crazy though.
Your dinner sounds really good. We went out for lunch so did not eat much for dinner. We just snacked and that was it.Well that is all from here. Have a great night,
      Colleen

      Hi Gail,
I think when Melissa went thru that it was the worse time of our lives. I know that you are going thru a really tough time with Brent. It is a lot of worrying and the doctors seem to be taking their time getting results I will be saying extra for him and for Adele’s Heather.
I am like you Gail. I am not doing all the china and good glasses anymore either. We are using paper plates and glasses. Any dishes we use has to go in the dishwasher to get cleaned. I have even started baking thing in those pans that you can throw away when you are done. It makes it easier for the kids to take dishes home with them also. They do not like to get fancy so I don’t.
My mom did not work. She stayed home with us. I guess that I should say that she never worked outside the home with five kids she always had work. Can you imagine having to iron for a family of seven. She ironed pillow cases and sheets. When we got older we had to take turns ironing them so I guess that is why I do not like to iron today.
I heard that they were going to cancel Days . I figure if that one goes so will the others. There is not as many on anymore and that is sad for all the women that use to watch them. I have not watched them for a long time.
I do not who I want to win this year. I wanted James to win but he is gone now so no chance of that. I figure tha Ally will win because the judges really like her. I may be wrong but I bet she will take the mirror ball.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Barbara,
They really have some really cute thing in Big Lots. My youngest daughter use to work at Big Lots when Ethan was little. They were a good place for her to work. They scheduled her hours around time she had to be with her son and sh was going to college. It was just a good place.
It is sad that you will not all be there for the holiday but the other two will be there and little Colin. You will have such a nice day and you will make the meal special.
Ron and I use to watch One Life to Live and General Hospital. We would watch it before he would go to work. We were addicted to those two soaps. We went thru the whole Luke and Luara thing. It seemed like when that ended we stopped watching
That would be cool to be in England for Christmas. I hope that they enjoy their time there. My brother and his wife really like England. They took my mom with them one year and she had a good time with them. My brother use to have to go there for a conference.
My tree will be all Santa ornaments. Except the Angel on top. Our little Aliza will just love it. She loves Santa so she will like this tree. I will only have one tree this year. I do not have room for two of them. All our rooms are full of things from my mom’s house and Ron’s sisters house. Hopefully by Easter all this stuff will have a pace or will be gone.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night
      Colleen.

      Hi Colleen,
Yes, no one wants to wash and dry the good dishes and glassware by hand it’s easier to use paper and plastic. I even have winter dishes with snowmen that can be put into the dish washer and we don’t even use those for Christmas. You figure 50% of the people at our house for Christmas are little kids who could care less.
I don’t like to iron and I remember that my Mom didn’t either. Most of the clothes we wear are jeans and tee shirts that don’t need ironing anyway. If something comes out of the closet and is really wrinkled I will iron it before wearing it but I don’t iron on a regular basis. In fact I just sent for some spray stuff from the Q that you can spray on your clothes and it’s supposed to take the wrinkles out. Of course it wouldn’t work on bad wrinkles but just the stuff things sometimes get from being folded in a pile on a shelf.
I can remember always laughing at my SIL when she would say she was ironing her husband’s jeans. Who Irons jeans? They’re not supposed to have creases.
I think everyone has a chance to win the mirror ball this year as they are pretty equal now if you look at the scoring. I think it could be up for grabs depending on how everyone does on the last night. It will be interesting.
I’ll bet Aliza will love your Santa tree. it sounds so pretty. I will still put up two trees this year as we like the one in the front window for those driving by and the one in the corner of the family room for us to see when we are watching the TV in the evenings. It’s poor Greg who has to carry the boxes up and down from the basement. It’s such a short time between Thanksgiving and Christmas-I don’t know how everything will get done.

      Hi Barbara,
I don’t think young people watch soaps anymore. I remember sometimes Jenny would watch Days with me and there was another that she watch which was short lived and gone now and I can’t remember the name. But for the most part the young people don’t watch soaps. I think everything is so quick moving and changing for them that they don’t have the patience to watch a story that goes on for years and years. They seem to prefer watching different things on YouTube on their phones. You people watch a lot of stuff on their phones. I would rather see stuff on the larger TV screen but they don’t seem to mind watching even a movie on a phone or tablet.
I hope Buddy can make it for Christmas if he can’t make Thanksgiving.
I had several boxes of the Thomas Paccone ornaments but I stopped using them two years ago as if people were helping me undecorate they always complained on having to find the right spots for the ornaments in those boxes that they came in. So I finally gave in and stopped using them. I gave many of them to Adam for his tree last year. They were so pretty and brightly colored.

      Hi Barbara,
Young people just don’t watch soaps anymore. Jenny used to watch Days with me years ago and she watch another short lived soap on her own-I can’t remember the name right now. I don’t think young people are willing to watch a show where the story line goes on for years and years. They like to watch things on You Tube. They will even watch movies on phones or tablets, while I much prefer to watch a movie on a large TV screen. Watching it on a small screen is like going backwards to me to when TV screens were little.
I hope Buddy gets to come for Christmas if he can’t make Thanksgiving. I’ll bet you are excited seeing Colin again.
I used to have several different boxes of the the Thomas Paccone ornaments. They were so pretty and colorful. But I retired them a couple of years ago after listening to years of complaints from other people (Greg) about what a pain in the butt it was to fit them back into the proper places in those wooden boxes when undecorating the tree. lol I gave quite a few of them to Adam last year for his Christmas tree.

      Hi Adele,
I can’t get into my emails today. Anyone else having trouble with yahoo mail. The last week or so getting emails is very hit or miss-I wonder what is going on over there. It’s very frustrating but who wants to change and then have to notify everyone of the change.
I haven’t heard back on test results yet from Brent.
Greg’s back is doing fine-they blamed the numbness in the feet and legs on the back but ever since he started taking the b twelve supplement the feet and legs are much better-so their diagnosis was kind of off base there. He went for a blood pressure check again yesterday and they are still changing his medicines and dosages for that trying to get rid of him having that tired feeling.
My legs are doing good. didn’t get any swelling with trips this summer so that’s an improvement.
That naughty little Tillie is a bit passive aggressive. lol If only you could explain to her that acting that way is hurting no one but herself. I must say my MIL was much easier to get her to do what we wanted. Maybe it’s because it was coming from me rather than her own child. Maybe mother’s feel like their own children shouldn’t be telling them what to do. Even though sometimes they act more like children than adults. lol It’s hard when that role reversal happens. It’s hard on both sides because you want to do what is best for them and sometimes they don’t want you telling them what to do because it makes them feel like they have lost their independence. But it’s all done out of love on your part-even if she doesn’t see it that way. I hope she likes the home doctor. That will go a long way towards making everything easier. I wonder if it’s a geriatric specialist.

Well I am hopeful the roof will get finished today. It seemed like there were different men each of the three days. Maybe the first crew was to remove the old roof and then the other two crews came in with different jobs. I don’t know it just seemed odd to have different workers each time. I was finally able to get safely out my walk today to check the mail. I was glad as I ordered a pair of corduroy pants from the live audience show & they came today. They feel nice & soft not stiff at all. I hope they fit as they seemed to be odd lengths from the dream jeannes. The short seemed shorter & the regular to long for me. So I may have high water pants.
Adele no he is not doing anymore to my door. It is staying shut with the bolt. I hope the other one won’t act up this winter. Years back I had it blow open too & there is no bolt on it. They figured it was the ice in it because when the ice melted it worked ok again.
I would like for Ally to win DWTS at this point but at least those left know how to dance. I don’t want Hannah (its all about me) to win. People on the Q boards want Kel to win & he has improved but just would rather he did not win. I liked James from the beginning but he needs to be with his family right now. They already have 5 kids & have lost 4 so maybe they will stop now. Ally wanted James to stay & she would leave but they would not let her do that. I think that was very nice of her. I think I want her to win because she was bullied a lot about her dancing when she was in the singing group.
We are still cold. We did get into the 40’s yesterday & that felt better. Today seemed to start mild but it is very dark & cold now. We had a mix of rain & snow Monday but not a lot. They still worked on the roof. Adele you would have fits as they get here about 6:30 AM & start pounding & making noise. But like I said I think they will be done today. Now they have to get the big dumpster out so I can move my car back. I hope the got all the nails as they were walking & checking for nails & picking them up. I sure don’t want one in a tire.

      Hi Gail,
My mom always ironed clothes even when she was in her 90’s. I guess that I was the only one that does not iron. My sisters were talking about ironing clothes and hanging them up. I thought I would have to empty my closet. I need to do some cleaning out again. If my clothes are wrinkled I dampen a wash cloth and put that and the wrinkled top or pants in the dryer. It works it take the wrinkles out and you can put it on low heat.
I am not putting out all my Thanks giving things this year. Part will be Thanksgiving and the other will be Christmas. That my Christmas stuff will be out longer. I have too many Santas to not get them out for more then just three weeks. Ron would like it if I would put things out Christmas eve and put it away right after Christmas day. That is how his mom always did it even when they got an artificial tree. I could never understand why she went to all the trouble of putting it up. Ron’s one sister is like me and she leaves her things out for a long time. She agrees that after you put all that up you want to keep it up for awhile.
I only have three more gifts to buy for Christmas and that is it. I want to try to get that done by next week before Thanks-giving. That way I will not be fighting the big crowds. I have one gift that I have to get for Kevin and I have no idea what to get him. I asked Danyielle and she did not know either. So this will be interesting.
It has been warm here for the last couple of days. It is going to get into the sixties tomorrow and we are going to get some rain. I just hope that it is nice for Thanksgiving and no rain. The kids will be able to go outside for awhile and not be under foot.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Sue,
I hope that roof gets done quickly and that they get all the nails picked up.
I like the Quacker corduroy pants. They are somewhere between corduroy and a velour type texture. Also those shorts are short enough for me-most Quacker shorts are too long at 29 inches. I had to stop buying them and wait for the ankle pants which are short enough for me. I have stumpy little legs. lol Thus I hope ankle pants don’t go out of style because for me they are regular length. Better than petites.

      HI Colleen,
I’m with you I like to leave the Christmas decorations up for a long time. I have left them up until the end of January before-just to light up all the dark. It’s too much work putting everything up to take them right down after Christmas-plus it’s still the holiday season at least until New Years or to the epiphany.
You are doing good on your shopping.
I have my sister and our two friends that we buy for done and that’s it. I have nothing for the kids yet. Hopefully i will get some ideas at Thanksgiving. I will ask them for a list. Jenny and Brent I usually get a few little things and then give them money.
Try the Man Crates web site for a gift for Kevin. Also look on Etsy. Just type in gifts for men. They have some great stuff there. I have become a total internet shopper the last few years.

      Hey Colleen
It was really sad. I think what Gail added makes sense, and I was wondering the same after he broke down after the dance….perhaps better for him to be home with his family, as they need each other right now. But, I still want the bachelorette gone….LOL
I did buy Thanksgiving paper plates- more for desert than dinner, as I don’t think they will be storing enough for dinner. I have the dixie paper plates we use for dinner here once in a while. They are stronger, but they do not look very Thanksgiving like. If do it buffet style, they may work….LOL
Those soul be Gary’s favorite cookies too! He will be right over….
I didn’t know you had an Italian food section/neighborhood near you. I bet you can get everything we make down there. Yum, yum. It always seems Italian food is the best, not that I am prejudiced or anything….LOL
So, the sun is actually shining up here. I need sunglasses inside the house, as my eyes are not used to that much light…..LOL
It is chilly here, but so nice to see the sun. If all works out well today, we may b get the blow up things out on the lawn. That all depends on Frankie getting back here early enough. He does not have a lot of deliveries today, so that may work. I hope so, as I do not want Gary out there this weekend. he has an awful cold. I even gave him one of my Claritin D’s to help.
Tomorrow is the day the new home based doctor will visit with Tillie. She is a little nervous about the visit. She does that with any new people.
She did come up for dinner last night, so that was nice. She really freaks out on the chair lift. she keeps saying…Im gonna fall….there is no way she will fall. It is a chair, with arms and a foot rest. the foot rest is very small, but your feet stay on it. I just hope she gets more comfortable in it, as it seems since it has been installed, she is coming up less.
Did i tell you I got hacked in Macy’s??? They closed my account, and sent me a new card. They also enrolled me in a 12 month security/fraud detection thing. I am pretty ticked off about it. Of all the people I know who have accounts with Macy’s, I am the only one who got hacked. Have you heard of anyone being hacked at Macy’s??
Hope you have a good day. hope the sun is shining over there too!

      Hey Gailster
I wrote a lot on my post to Colleen, so please read it for all the up-dates of today….LOL
I think the doctor does specialize in older patients. In his bio, he was the director of a nursing home for a while. Did I tell you my OT person knew of him, and had worked on d some of his patients previously? He liked him, so that was good news. I always like to hear that the doctor has a good reputation with other professionals.
Glad to know that your legs and Greg’s back are doing better. Not so good that there is still no news on Brent. It is awful he has to wait so long. I hope because it is taking so long, it will be good news.
I use Comcast email. I have been having cable issues the last few days. All of a sudden the TV will freeze, and there will be no internet. In a few minutes it comes back on. That has happened at least 4 times today. As I was watching the hearings, I thought it was the Russians…..LOL LOL Remember the movie, “The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming”? I wonder if we watched it, that it may be even more funny due to all the goings on of today???
The sun is shining up here. I am beyond excited….woohaa!!
I know how you feel about the boxes coming down for the holidays. I ave purged so much, and still I have a lot. I really need to purge even more, especially Halloween. We just cannot keep doing all the work of decorating. At one time, I even changed the bathroom shower curtain to a holiday one, and had a holiday wreath in there. Have not decorated the bathroom in quite a few years. I have to get over the good china issue. That is the one thing I am still hanging onto. They would be thrilled if I switched to paper. It is my last hold out….I keep thinking of you and Colleen when I think of it.
I hope the sun is shining for you- did the snow melt??
Are you going to Jenny’s this weekend? Oh….The Aizen got an award on school….for being honest. We nearly died laughing, as when he doe s something at home, he tries his best to go around admitting he did it, with the best answers back you have ever heard. then we tell him his tongue will start to turn black, and he tries to talk and not show his tongue. It is really funny.
Steph stopped by again yesterday. i told her how proud I was of her, and that she is now becoming a “grand popper” like the rest of them…you never know when they will pop by….LOL
Hope your day is going well…

      Hey Sue!
I hope they get done today, so you will be bale to sleep in the am. Oh yes, I would have cried at 6:30 am!!
Crap….you may want to order one of those hand held compressors- they look like a power screwdriver. Gary wanted me to get one, as our tires always loose air when it gets cold. It would come in handy if they missed any nails. Those nails could show their ugly heads for weeks to come. I would also tell my landlord that is my tires get ruined from the nails left behind, I would hoe he would help pay the costs. You don’t need more expense from the landlord’s repair people.
Today is the first day we have sun up here. It was so rainy and gloomy the last 3 days. My bones were complaining. glad we are having sun, even though it is cold.
Please read the posts to the girls, as I wrote a lot of up-dates in them.
Wow- I did not know they lost 4 other babies. they seem determined to have a large family. That has to take a toll on his wife’s body. I hope she will be ok, after this last one.
I do like Ally. I also like Kel. Actually, they are all good, accept I cannot stand the bachelorette. I think that is the one you do not like either. It will be interesting to see how this year goes.
I love those corduroy pants. The shorts are too long for me, so I get the regulars, as it is easier to hem them, because I have more fabric to work with on making a new hem. You will love them. Not only do they keep you warm, but the lines in them disguise the lumps and bumps I have in my legs.
Hope your place in nice an quiet by now!

      Hi Gail,
It just seems like after Christmas everything is so drab. There are no lights or anything up and the stores seem to clear their things out very quickly. You would think that they would but something up to make the story look cheery.
Thank you for the sites to look at for gifts for men. He is just too hard to buy for. We do not know him that well. I do not know if we ever will. He does come over that often anymore. He use to come with Danyielle but he is working nights now and so he is never home. Well he is home but is sleeping when we are there and at work when they are all at home. Nights are a terrible time to work. You never have time with family and friends.
It will be interesting to see what happens on dwts. I really wish that they would have put that vote off for a week. I guess that any death in a family really gets to me right now. Especially a baby how sad. I stil think that Ally will win but we will see. She is a good dancer. She just rubs me the wrong way.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Adele,
You may have to put a seat belt in that stair lift chair. Maybe she would feel more secure in it if she was seat belted in it. That may help but do not know how you would do that.
The Italian store is not near us we have to drive into St. Louis to go there. My brother -inilaw is a Randazzo which is really Italian. His dad use to make all these Italian dishes and they tasted so good. He had a stove in the basement and he woud cook big pots of craw fish and Italian sauce and spaghetti. Anyone was welcome to eat there when it was done. Those were fun days.
It is nice that the sun was shinning there. It has been cloudy here all day and raining. It looked like we might get some snow but we didn’t. I am glad that we just got the rain and nothing else. I do not know what it is supposed to be like tomorrow. The sun must have been bright if you needed sunglasses. That is funny.
I hope that you got all your yard things out since it is nice there today. I do not think that we will put anything out this year. I have been trying to get Ron to either give our blow ups to the kids are put them out in the yard. I doubt that he will he does not like to.
I just get strong paper plates to put the food on. We always have a buffet for dinner and those pates hold up fine. The adults always fix the kids pates so we do not have to worry about spills. It works out really works well. We have a lot of food that day and they eat a lot. So it will work if you want to try it.
I have not heard of anyone getting hacked at Macy. I got hacked at Marshall’s one year and they did the same thing to me. The bank called to let me know what was going on though. That is one good thing about banking at a small bank. They know who you are and they help you out when someone gets into your bank account.
I have a question and I hope you can give me an answer. We bought our turkey tonight and I just put it in the fridge to et it start to thaw.

Adele I do not know why that posted I was not finished. We bought our turkey today and I put it in the fridge instead of the freezer. It is frozen solid but I did not know if it is too early or not. Do you know? I would appreciate it if anyone knows.
Well I guess i better get off here. This computer is acting crazy again. Have a great night.

      Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. I’m fine. Thank you for all the kind words of of encouragement & love. Today marks the passing of my mom in 1986. I can’t believe it’s been that long ago!
Colleen, write down all your precious memories of your mother. Like in a diary or something. You’ll get through it. Like I said before, the first year is the hardest to get through, all holidays, special dates, etc. big hugs!!!
Well, it appears it’s our turn for some coooold temps. I’m seeing snow flakes in our weather forcast. Right now it’s not for certain it’ll show up down here on the valley floor, but it’s for sure in the foothills & higher elevations. the ski resorts closed down when that snow all melted away. But the National Weather Service is sending out warnings for low level snow next week, including Turkey day. I’ll put it this way, IT’S ABOUT TIME!! Not for here where I am, but up in the mts. You wouldn’t believe how bare Mt. Hood is right now.
I checked on snowball, & she’s curled up on the toilet lid. she finds the strangest places to curl up.
I don’t watch DWTS so I wasn’t aware of the miscarriage till I googled him. So very sad!!! He probably asked to be let go under the circumstances.
I love Big Lots, but I haven’t been to one in a long long time. I love BL, & $ Tree because they have cute things other stores don;t have. And don’t get me started on Michaels. LOL
I’m finding grieving sites on my FB page. I found one devoted to losing a pet. I’m not the only one who thinks of their four legged fur babies as their kids.

I’m gonna get started taking down the turkey decor & put up the tree. I leave it up till my birthday in Jan. I turn the big 70 next yr. I never thought I’d make it this far.
Well, I better go for now.
      Have a great week.

Hello everyone. Neal and his little family are on the road right now. He actually worked today; got off at 2. He texted us last night and said the baby has a cold; and was concerned about us. Jerry said tell him bring that baby! and I told him not to worry; we will do everything to “sanitize” us all and him and not to worry. So please say a little prayer for us. He is not running any temp; just has little stuffy nose. I wanted to just cry, but just couldn’t tell them to stay away. It is cold and rainy here today; and we are to get rain just about every day next week. We are doing our turkey day on Wednesday and they are going to Sarahs parents on Thursday. Jerry and I vacuumed and mopped yesterday; did the bathrooms; changed sheets. So we both really slept last night. We are both sore today; but excited.
I really hope Tillie did well with her doctor visit today. That will be so wonderful if she likes him and then mabey he could talk her into coming upstairs more. Adele, would you consider asking him to sit and ride in the stairlift to show her how safe it is? Do you think that would help? Just a thought.
DD, love your pictures. So beautiful. Your little Snowball is such a cutie. I know she is so much company to you. She just has to make you smile. Your Jewell was so beautiful too. You are difinitely a good kitty Mom. That little breed of kitty is very photogenic. You have made some beautiful photos.
Have to close. Hope all of you are having a great day and that Brent will get some good news very soon Gail. Prayers for you all. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy wonderful time with family and friends and furry family. Hugs across the miles to you and yours, Barbara

      Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Barbara, I hope little Colin is there and you and Jerry are spending lots of time with him. That’s definitely something to be thankful for.
DD, I like those old fashioned holiday pictures. It reminds me of the cards and decorations we had when I was a kid. I just loved the old bubble lights when I was young.
I like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby and Home goods too. Sometimes they have so much stuff it makes my head spin.
Colleen, I know what you mean about Kevin working nights. Brent and Adam both work nights and I always feel sorry for them on days off when they have to change their schedules if they want to do stuff with the rest of us during the days. I don’t think it was too early to start defrosting the turkey. When they are solid it takes a long time to defrost in the refrigerator. usually it takes longer than the suggested time-at least for me it does.
Well tonight we will find out who wins DWTS. It should be interesting. Is the final sometimes closer to Christmas? It seems I remember other years where there was like christmas trees and snowflakes and stuff in the finale. although with Thanksgiving being late this year most of the towns have already decorated and many people have outdoor lights out already.
Adele, How did it go with Tillie and the doctor. You know you always talk about the Italian foods but do you do some German cooking from your Mom’s side of the family too?
I saw on the Q community that Macy’s had been hacked. That’s funny that you said that about the Russians because that’s what Greg and I have been saying about why our yahoo mail has been messed up. We’ve been blaming it on the Russians. lol
When we first moved into this house I decorated every room too. I had a Christmas shower curtain too for the one bathroom that has a shower curtain. I still do decorate my first floor bathroom as that’s the one guests would use too. Plus i use Christmas towels and such in there.
We use the Styrofoam plates with the dividers for our Christmas feast and we drink out of red solo cups-just like we are tailgating. lol I also have been using the plastic heavy duty utensils from WalMart.
That’s nice that Aizen got the honesty award. I wonder how they chose the recipient.
We went to see an A Cappella group called Voiceplay this weekend. This is the second time that we have seen them. They are so good.
I’m watching the Today show and Hoda Kotb just announced that she is engaged. She has had quite a year.
Well, I have lots of stuff to do today so I better get a movin.

      Hey Colleen!
A frozen turkey takes a couple of day to thaw, so I think you should be good. Just hope you put it in a pan, so the juices don’t contaminate anything in the fridge. So sorry I did not see this until today!!
We still do not have the blow ups out. Gary got real sick and is on an inhaler and z pack. He did nothing all weekend long, accept sit in his chair. he is finally feeling better today.
I am still on the fence about the china. Gave up on the crystal glasses!
Dying to see DWTS tonight to see who wins.
We had an awful rain storm yesterday- everyone felt awful.
The chair lift does have a seat belt. Nobody uses it….LOL Tillie did come up twice over the weekend, and used the chair. The footrest is what is freaking her out. It is small, and your entire feet do not fit on it- i is just to keep your feet from hitting the stairs. She is learning to just rest the feet on it. We have to get it up with the remote, as she just cannot push the button herself to get it to come up- the button is under where your fingers go- you just hold it, and up you go.
Hope you are getting ready for Thursday! Tomorrow I bake the custard pie.
      Have a good night….

      Hey DD!
I turn 70 in January too! how funny is that. the two of us turn 70, and me and Colleen get new grandbabies. It will be a busy month!
I did not realize you do not watch DWTS. I watch it and think……wish I could move like that….LOL
I think everyone who has a pet feels the same way when they die. They are part of the family, and it is awful to say goodbye. I swear, there are times when I look up form watching TV, and swear I saw my cat go by. Our minds play tricks on us.
You new kitty is so very funny. I hope there will come a day hen you are bale to laugh at her, and remember your kitty by smiling too. I am praying for that for you!!
I hope you have a good night.

      Hey Barbara!
Wishing you a fabulous Turkey Day with Colin. I will be prying his cold doe snot get worst while he is up here, and that you two do not get it.
Please read the post to Colleen- all the info is in there.
Tillie liked her doctor. The in home visit went wonderfully. He gave her a flu shot. He took her off 2 meds that do no work on people her age- Lipitor and vitamin C. He said if she gets sick, to call and either he or the PA will be here that day to treat her. How great is that???? No more worrying…do we need to go to the ER?? I am so excited about the in home GP. Do you have that service in Tenn? i think every state should have it. It is all the rage up here for elderly who are considered “feeble”. hell….I may be there shortly…LOL
Are you going to watch DWTS? I will be glad when this season is done. Was not as fun as seasons past.
Have a fabulous time with your family on Wednesday. Does not matter which day we celebrate, as long as we do!!
      Love you!

Please read the posts to the girls for all the news. I am trying to answer all the posts before dinner….LOL
Wow- so I am not the only one who got hacked from Macy’s. I was beginning to think it was only me. I bet we will hear about it on the news shortly.
I am also dying to see how wins tonight. But, I really did not enjoy this season as much as the others. I hope next season will be better.
Tillie liked her new doctor. I am thrilled with this in home service. I hope you get it in your state too. They will even visit her if she is sick- that very day. How great is this???
So, do you think you will meet the boyfriend? I know I will not meet Amanda’s. She will not be here this year. I hope she will not be sorry, as you never know when the last holiday is with anyone.
Jhonny and Steph are separated again. It looks like this may be it. Not a good time of year, but, then again, when is it? Steph just could not get past the time he left her before. I do not know what to pray for anymore.
I hope you have a good night….tomorrow I bake the custard pie.
We do make German food. Heather just made Tillie’s favorite meal Sunday….LOl
      Have a good night!

Adele I take it from your post that you didn’t get snow yesterday. We had rain Sat. evening & overnight then it changed to snow early Sun. morning. We had a couple inches but it seemed to be hit or miss here in Pa a lot of us had snow but some did not. I guess we are to miss the storms that most of the Country is getting before Thanksgiving. We are just to get the strong winds. Then over the weekend have a mixed bag. The sun was out beautiful today so that was a nice change. Tomorrow is to be nice too so want to run some errands.

      Hi Adele,
I am so glad that the visiting doctor turned out so well. It sounds like a great situation.
I hope Gary is feeling better. Hopefully there will be more nice days where you can get the blow ups put out.
Well Hannah won-here’s the positive spin that me (Gail Pollyanna) are putting on it. I don’t think her pro – Alan- has ever won before and I like him so I am happy for him. Her I could care less as she comes off as a phony whiner. (I’m not being very gracious-am I) lol
It just shows you how powerful a big social media presence is in winning these things. Heck, if Kim K came back on again now she would probably win without even dancing with as many followers as she has. lol
Do you realize that this program is now almost 15 years old? Wow! Time flies. I am like you-I watch and wish I could move like that and just admire those young healthy bodies and wish i had appreciated mine when I had it. What’s the line from the song-you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.
Well you and DD are young whippersnappers-still in your 60’s. You better listen to your elders-me and I think Barbara. lol
No, I don’t think the boyfriend will be at Thanksgiving, but I’m not sure. this is getting silly.
I’m sorry to hear about Jhonny and Steph-no it’s never a good time for break ups. At least she has that license now and can feel more independent so that’s a good thing. who initiated the break up this time? I’m guessing that they must have gotten together when they were pretty young so people change a lot between their teens and young adult hood and maybe they are just growing apart instead of growing closer as us older couples seem to do. I understand what you mean by not knowing what to pray for anymore. I guess you just pray that she and the boys are happy and safe.
all of my Quacker friends and their families are always in my prayers.

We didn’t get snow. Once of twice we had a very brief snow flurry, and then back to pouring rain.

Are you eating with one of your neighbors this year? I hope you have someone to celebrate with.

      Hey Gailster
I totally agree. her partner was so excited last night, it was so cute to watch. But, I just cannot stand her face- it is that instant “face hate thing”. You know what a phony she is. i was rooting for ally, or the football player.
This time it was Steph. She had a silly argument with him ( in my opinion), and told him not to come home, so he did not. I think she was sorry right after it happened, as she wanted him to fight to come home, and he did not. This was just a matter of time, as they say. This will e the 4th time he has left, in the last 3 years. The other times were for a day or so, so I never mentioned it on here as they resolved themselves. Do not think that will happen this time. I feel bad for the boys. Plus, Heather is ere, instead of home, and they cannot just walk up the stairs to see tier Nonni., that is bothering Whether a lot! She feels she needs to be there for they boys, and she can’t right now. Steph being able to drive is a God send right now. They have een together since Steph was 13. She is 29.
This is going to make my ” go around the table and say what you are grateful for” a disaster this year.
Hope you do finally get to meet the boyfriend. Have you ever seen a pic of him????
What is up with the women of today???
Hope all is good with you. I make the custard pie today….yum!

      Hi Ladies,
First of all I want to wish all of you a Happy happy Thanksgiving with your friends & family. Enjoy yourselves to the max. I know Barbara will be in the clouds with little Colin. I HOPE you can record some of it for prosterity.
The pic of the old decorations is from an old calendar. I get these Victorian calendars from Calendars.com. I’ve gotten one for yrs. And I save the best for decorations. They’re beautiflul calendars.
Adele, I’m sorry about Steph. I’ve heard that this time of yr is bad for breakups. She’ll be fine.
I love Snowball, she keeps me entertained. I turn my back & first thing I know she’s running down the hallway if I accidently leave the door open. If someone comes to the door she sneaks out before I can catch her. Don’t ever think I don’t love her, cuz I do. She doesn’t get up on my lap like Jewell did. And I miss that. She stays close by, but not too close. I;m hoping as she gets older she’ll get calmer & not so skidish.

I imagine you’ve read my posts about the “cyclone” that’s hitting us. But it’s hitting the Southern half of the state, along with the Central & Eastern side of the state. We are in the clear as far as snow goes. I just got a notification on my phone saying they’ve shut down I-5 southbound going into Ca. till day break, due to blizzard conditions. I don’t remember a storm of this magnitude hitting us like this one. We’ll get rain, hopefully a good bit of it. Be prepared cuz it’s headed your guys’ way after it leaves here.
I don’t have the tree up yet, I haven’t figured out where I’m putting some of the furniture. I’m slowly putting out some decorations, here & there.
I just don’t have the energy anymore, so I guess my body is telling me it’s time to down size. (booooo hoooo).

On a sad note, a neighbor down the hall from me passed away yesterday. His family came to my door last night asking if I’d seen him lately, & all I could remember was seeing him last week. So I gave them the phone #s of management & told em to call first thing in the morning. Turns out they did & found him passed away. They were appreciative I was able to help. The sister came to the dooor this morning & told me, she was sooooo upset. While I was helping her, guess who snuck out. One of the police officers brought her back to me & she got a good scolding. (as if she understood)! LOL
      Never a dull moment.
Well, have a grrrrrrrrrrreat turkey day!!

I am going to have to get caught up soon. Just wanted to wish everyone Happy Thanksgiving! I hope all of you have a great day tomorrow.
Gail, I will be saying a prayer that you do not get the winds that we got here. It blew the roof off one of our sheds and the pool cover off. So the winds are really strong. I just hope they do not get that strong with the rain that we are supposed tonight.
Adele, I will be praying for Steph and Jhonny. Will just pray the they make the right decision about the break-up. I am glaqd the the home bound doctor worked out for Tillie.
Well that is all from here. Enjoy your day tomorrow.

I did not know you were getting a cyclone. I am hoping they changed the weather forecast y now, and you will all be ok! Keep us in the loop, so we know you are good.
Sorry about your neighbor. That is just awful. It was wonderful of you to help those poor t people. You are an Angel.
Speaking of your neighbors, how is Critt? Did he make any of the Thanksgiving celebrations with you that were in your complex?
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your friends, and the weather was good for you to travel.
Well……Steph and Jhonny got back together, so they were all here yesterday. I hope this is the last time this ever happens, as we were all so worried, and anxious. But, I am still glad they resolved their issues.
I hope to put away my Annalee Thanksgiving dolls today, and that will be the extent of my working today….LOL

      Hey Colleen!
Well, Steph and Jhonny got back together again. So, everyone was here, and that was good. The only one missing was Amanda. She went to her boyfriend’s family. We were all glad they went back together, and hope this does not happen again. Heather was so upset, she cried a few times. I kept telling her there is nothing we can do, and try to let it go as it would ruin her holiday too.
That was awful that your shed roof blew off. At least with the pool, you can just get the cover back on. There are some people who do not cover their pool, so do not worry about the cover. It just means you have some extra pool cleaning in the Spring….leaves, etc. The more water that is in the pool, the stronger it gets in a storm. When the water is low is when the sides can come in.
I hope you all had a great day yesterday!!

      Hi Everyone,
This is the last day of November. tomorrow I will start a new page for us. wow! where did the time go? Plus there is like six days less between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. i will really have to work like a draft horse to get my Fall decorations down and away, my Christmas decor up, cards sent, shopping done, things wrapped and packages sent away. I’m tired just thinking about it. lol Somehow it all gets done though.
      I guess that’s why I don’t bake cookies anymore-something had to give.
Hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving. We finally did meet Ricky. He was there at Thanksgiving.
I took pencil and paper over to Jenny’s and told the kids Santa needed ideas for what sort of stuff to leave at our house. Piper is easy-she gave a list to us and a separate one to her Mom. Lachlan never wants to tell what he wants and Kendall is getting older and is harder to buy for as she is out of the toy stage. I guess in a few more years the two older ones will want money or gift cards. It will make things simpler but I do love seeing children at Christmas getting a wished for toy. It’s always been fun for me-maybe more for me than the kids-lol-so my kids and grands always get a bit spoiled at Christmas. Oh well, that’s what grandparents are for-I guess it’s a good thing i don’t have 12 grandchildren like Jenny’s ex MIL.
Then Friday night when we got to Jenny’s their house was already decorated. She really made good use of her day off-but I guess when I was younger my time management skills were better too. Piper was kind of wound up with all the lights and decor-plus she has both a birthday and Christmas coming up. I had sent both kids some Christmas deco items from CIJ so it was nice to see them set up in person-i will have to have Brent send me pictures of his stuff.
So far I have been busy cyber shopping now that I have some ideas what to get. I will be keeping Amazon and UPS busy. lol
Colleen, we did get those strong winds-they practically knocked me down when I was bringing the garbage cans in after pick up. Normally I leave it for Greg to bring on when he gets home but i knew if I didn’t get it it would be blown to the next county. It’s also very windy again today.
Adele, I’m so glad that Steph and Jhonny decided to try and work things out. I think it’s always best for the kids if it can be managed.
DD, I’m not even sure what a cyclone is but it doesn’t sound good.

      Hi Adele,
I am so glad that Steph and Johnny got back together and are doing well. I hope that it works out for them. I imagine that the kids were happy to be home with both parents.
We had a nice Thanksgiving with the ones that were there. Melissa is coming for Christmas and has been calling about what we are going to have for dinner. We always cook together so this year she wanted to help plan the meal. So it will be fun cooking together. They are bringing a soldier with them that has no place to go. So he is coming here.
Were you happy with who won on dwts? I wish someone else would have won but that is how it goes. I was really lad that Ally did not win. I was really surprised that she didn’t win.
I like the pictures of Gary trying to put the nut cracker up in the yard. The wind was really giving him a lot of trouble. The windy days have been bad here. I was glad when they slowed down.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Gail,
That wind was really strong. I hope you did not have any damage. All we had was our roof to the shed so that was not too bad. We did not lose our electric so that was good. Usually that is the first thing to go.
We had trouble with our computer for a few days. I was trying to get in to yahoo mail and I could not get on. So tonight I got on going right to Quacker Factory and had no trouble. I do not know what is going on. I know you said something about having trouble with Yahoo also.
I just have a few odds and ends that I have to pick up for Christmas. Melissa is bringing a soldier that has no place to go so he is coming here. So I will have to get him something. I really do not what to get him.
So you finally got to meet Ricky. What did you think of him. It must have been interesting meeting him for the first time. The kids do like him and that is good. I hope that you will get to see him at Christmas also. So you can get to know him better. Do you think Jenny and this guy will get married?
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

      Hi Colleen
I was not too thrilled with who won. She was the one I could not stand. Anyone else could have won, and I would have been thrilled.
Tonight the Christmas tree lights show is on. So, I have to hurry, so I can see it….LOL
Please read the post to Gail, as it has a lot of info in there……sorry…trying to hurry to see the evening shows….LOL
I think it is great to have a soldier there who has no place to go. How very wonderful that will be for all of you. That is such a kind, good hearted thing to do. God bless your family- you raised such nice girls.
That is so cute that your granddaughter wants to help plan the dinner, cause she cannot be there. Amanda has informed me she willnot be here for Christmas Eve either. Heather is getting very upset with her. This reason is because she has to work until 10:30 that night. She is going to her boyfriend’s on Christmas.
Gad you all had a good day. Thank you for the compliments on Gary and the drunk nutcracker. Drunk nutcracker is now under a lot of snow….LOL
      Have a good night
      Adele
