Here we go again. The year is 2/3 done!
-
Hi Everyone,
DD, I loved that picture of the squirrel in the pumpkin too!
Adele,
I don’t know what tim’s mobility will be like. It’s too early to tell, but he already feels better.
I hope you are less sore. What did they do at the doctor’s office to make you feel so bad?
I’m watching Senator McCain’s funeral too. What I liked about him was that he tried to get people to agree across party politics. I think we would be better off if there were no parties just independents-people who believe in doing what is right and best for this country. His daughter got a dig in.
It would be nice if mothers who wanted to could afford to stay home with their children, but I think that ship has sailed. I was one of the lucky ones who was able to do that but there weren’t even many back then.
We will be going to Branson in October. Brent and Wendy will meet us there so we won’t be going to NM this year. Which is probably for the best until I get these vein issues resolved.
We closed on Jenny’s house yesterday. So I told her now she is my maid and she is cleaning my house except it is not the house I live in. lol It made me a little sad as Adam picked the kids up to go home with him after he got off work last night at nine. Just thinking about them shuffling between households. The only thing that made me feel better was that they don’t seem to be bothered by it in the least.
We have never met the boyfriend. He is never even referred to so I am not going to bring it up and cause trouble. Who knows-maybe he will fade away and that was just her way of getting out of a marriage that she was not happy in-a way of pushing the issue. Personally, I hope she takes a lot of time and maybe dates several men in the upcoming years so if she ever remarries she can get it right the next time.
Barbara, I think Brent does have to keep a log. I forgot about that part. It’s a good thing we have our resident medical advisor. His work has been really good about trying to make allowances for his situation and I am grateful for that. He just showed us a picture of a table that he built for his house so I guess we have another woodworker in the family. He said he did like the new doctor so that helps a lot. He is at the Lubbock campus of Texas Tech.
We were in Branson 8 or 9 years ago. it’s supposed to be so pretty decorated for the holidays but we will be too early for that. When is your big 70? Mine’s October 18th.
Colleen, That is sad that the new school is too small for a drama dept. No wonder Brook is upset.
I used to think a full day was too long for those little kids but our grands seem to like it so maybe my opinion is changing.
I have had the pot stickers and didn’t find them too salty either so it must be a matter of our individual taste buds.
You know I have countries all around the world that I would like to see England, China, Russia,Poland, Kenya, Egypt,Thailand,New Zealand everywhere! But I just don’t have the stamina to do it anymore so I will travel through my reading.
Better go before this disappears.

Hey Gail
I am here- love the pumpkins. You know they are my favorite. I am HOPING to get out just the decorations that are Fall only, not Halloween- those go in the living room, and stay up until Thanksgiving. the tiny tablecloth I got for one of the table sin there came today. that way, the top will not get all scratched up.
The Boo fetti set came today. They are in the dishwasher, as we speak….LOL The cookie jar did not come yet.
I hope Jenny is happy, and does take her time this time- I feel the same way you do. It is good the kids do not mind going between the two houses.
I am thrilled that you have been seeing the kids on Fridays again. I was sad you and Greg lost your Friday’s, and missed hearing the Piper stories.
I bet you are all happy the kids will stay in their home. That is wonderful you were able to help with that. It is also great that Adam and Jenny have been on good terms. i love good news. It makes us all feel good.
The doctor was manipulating the shoulder, and doing strength and mobility testing. I think it was the strength test that got me. It does feel better today. i just hope it is not awful again tonight. Sleeping is the worst. There is no position that makes my neck stop hurting when that happens. Doctor feels the neck is more connected to the shoulder, as the pain is on the side, and not in back. Hence the move to the shoulder specialist.
So, right now I have doctors at that practice for the following joints: back, shoulder, hand, foot, and knee. Isn’t that a hoot? I see the back and knee one regularly. The rest of the joints are stable for now, accept the shoulder. Oh….I did see the hip doctor once, but it was not my hip, it was the back.
I am an arthritic disaster….LOL
Isn’t your vein test this coming week?? We will all be praying hard, for you and Barbara.
I hope Sue is ok. I heard on the news her state is flooding again. She did say she is up higher, so I hope all is good with her.
that is great you are meeting Brent and his girlfriend a lot closer for this year’s visit. I hope the monitor shows the doctor what they need to do the right thing for him. I heard about this ekg on Amazon for 99.00, that you put your 2 fingers on to see how your heart is doing. I am wodneirng if that is a good thing to get.
Hope your night is good!
Adele. -
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I’m not doing anything special, as usual. I watched the McCain funeral this morning. It was very touching. I got a hoot out of him asking GW Bush & Obama to eulogize him. They all got their digs in, without saying anyone’s name. and boy did Meghan let loose on him. He deserved it & even more!! I think he put in another nail in his political coffin. Voters have loooong memories.
Adele, do you have Xfinity hooked up to your TV? Comcast sent me a box to hook up to my TV this week. Do you think it’s worth it? How much did your monthly bill go up? I’m already unhappy with Comcast as it is. If my bill goes any higher I’ll have to cut back, a lot! My bill is already over $130.00 as it is!
And it seems like they’re raising the monthly rates more often. I remember when my bill was less than $50.00/ month!!!I was naughty again. I noticed when they had the Temptations TSV there were some colors missing. Fall & Pumpkin were missing from Floral Lace, & Pumpkin Patch from Old World, I think there was another one but can’t remember. Anyway, I found an oval bowl that I got last yr in FL Festive. With the 5 easy pay I ordered the FL Pumpkin design. So now I have something in Harvest, Pumpkin Patch & now FL Pumkin for fall. I’ll probably put flowers or something for fall in it. I put ornaments in the Festive last yr.
Furball is laying here beside me curled up in a ball. That pic of the squirrel in the pumpkin reminds me of Furball getting into her cubby hole in the tree. I’m glad you enjoy the pics I put up.
Got a question. Where did August go??? I can feel fall in the air out here. We were supposed to get up to 90 later this week, but it’s been revised to low to mid 80s, which is fine with me. Cooler temps are already settling in esp overnight. When the sun goes down the temps drop like a rock. we could actually get some rain in a couple weeks. we sure could use it.
I better get off here before I lose it again.
take care. enjoy the holiday.

Hi Adele,
I think the balloon fest is jinxing the weather. We had rain Friday night, Saturday morning and then again Saturday night. It cleared a little bit yesterday afternoon. Greg went to go golfing this morning and the course is shut down due to rain. Now I would imagine that since the parking for the fest is on the grass that it will be all muddy too. Quite a mess.
I thought those pictures were kind of neat as they also all looked like DIY projects. I am always drawn to anything in candy corn colors. I don’t care for the candy but the color combination is very appealing to me for some reason. I guess maybe because it looks so cheerful.
You do have a lot of joint doctors! Are they all ortho doctors or are some rheumatologists? I would save my 99 dollars for the heart thing. I figure if you feel bad enough to use it you are probably already in trouble and then what are you going to do about it? You will have to go to the ER either way.
Jenny seems happier now-she doesn’t seem so stressed out. I think psychologically it’s been harder on Adam since he was not the one who wanted to end the marriage. He has definitely lost some weight and on a 6’5″ frame it really shows. I think Jenny and the kids are happy not to have to move. It’s a nice safe neighborhood where they know so many of the neighbors and the kids have friends to play with it would have been a shame to have to leave. I think everyone feels safe and secure there. It’s been interesting seeing Jenny learn to cut the grass. She’s been doing a good job. I hope and pray that everyone will be happy.

Hi DD,
I watched the funeral too. I would imagine 45’s nose is out of joint from not being invited but if I were John McCain I wouldn’t have wanted him either. Bush, Obama and Megan all got in their digs and I’m glad. John McCain was all about having the parties cooperate with each other to bring the nation together not divide it. I can only imagine that the family must be exhausted after the week long ceremonies.
That pumpkin tureen is really pretty. I’ll bet Adele has that. I have a cast iron pumpkin tureen that was cook’s essentials from years ago, It came with a set of pumpkin, garlic, green pepper and tomato. I think it was an autodelivery and then you could get a wire rack to display them on. I have the whole thing in a corner of my kitchen. You can bake in them and also cook on the stove top with them. Being cast iron they are really heavy though.

Gail welcome to my world. Imagine 2 months of rain. No wonder much of the state is flooded. One man on TV said that’s it I am moving up the mountain. We have not had the flooding around here as much as some areas. But you can understand why I feel cheated out of summer. Then not having all the fresh veggies like usual really makes me sad. We are to have a heatwave this week so we will see. Both Friday & Saturday were only in the 70’s dark & rainy. We do have sun today & temps in the 80’s.
Hope they have now found Brent’s problem & can work on getting him feeling better.

I forgot to say they are predicting a long bitter cold winter with lots of snow & ice lasting well into Spring. Guess I will need to be a bear & hibernate. Just hate winter so much & it makes my joints ache. Adele is to get blasted this winter too. So maybe she will cool off.

Hey DD!
The xfinity is worth it, as it does so much. You will be thrilled with it- you can talk to the remote too.
Our bill includes Tillie’s phone, and a lot of TV’s. Bobby has a HD box, as well as Tillie’s living room. We have a total of …wait for it….. 8 TV’s connected to the cable, the internet, one phone, and the security system. So, our bill is not reflective of just xfinity, with 2 tv’s, and the internet, like you have. Our bill is 321.00. But, we all share the cost, so it is not as bad as it looks. Tillie has 2 TV’s and Bobby only one. GAry is aTV freak, and would have one in the bathroom, if allowed….LOL
Here is a hint for you. Call them up, say how unhappy you are with the cost, and that you just can’t justify, not afford, this expense anymore. Also say Verizon seems the way to go for you now. trust me- they will come up with a package deal, that is better, with more channels, for a 2 year period. After 2 years, when it goes up, complain again Gary does it all the time. I just tell him…the bill went up, he says give it to me, and off he goes again. Don’t forget to ask for a senior citizen discount, or a low income discount. Some areas may have discounts for people- you never know!
I decorated the living room today. that room gets all Fall stuff, so it stays that way until Thanksgiving. Plus, I move a few of the Fall/Thanksgiving Annalee dolls to the rest of the house after Halloween is away. I took pics of the houses, not the Annalees in that room, and attached then here. I am tired!
Bobby made a gravy(spaghetti sauce) from all the tomatoes people gave us. It was good. he grilled some sausages with it, so we had some meat too. Heather came by for a bit, and had some dinner with us. Otherwise, it was a quiet day. Tillie did not come up, so Heather brought her dinner down to her.
Tonight we watch Chesapeake Shores on Hallmark. Do you watch it?
Hope you have a good evening.\
Adele
PS…I noticed the pumpkin was gone n the deep dish pie plate they had. the Fall ones go very, very fast. I moved things around in the oven (moved a grill pan out, and put these in sideways, along with the 2 other 9×12 ones.)and was able to store the 3 big ones in there. The little ones are on the table, and I ahve to figure out where to put those. -
Hi Colleen
It was a sad story form the phone lady on 9/11. But, she really tired to help me with a solution. I am glad I got her on the phone. I am also so happy I was able to get the message to Joanne.
I talked to Joanne today. they are working on packing up al Winnie’s clothes, etc. her daughter came up for the weekend, and helped them. They are almost done, and will give her things to her niece who manages some nursing homes. Winnie would be happy about that.
I think it is awful the schools cut the arts first, and never touch the sports. I totally agree with you. So far, JJ’s school has a drama club. he wants to join that, and I hope he does.
Look at the pics I posted about, but click on them to see the entire pic. that’s what I did today.
I am glad you missed the awful storms. I get so worried about everyone! I heard Penn. declared a disaster area today. I hope Sue can still get around ok at her house.
My arm is better today. I was even able to do my arm/shoulder exercises again today, so that is good.
Hope you have a good day tomorrow!
Adele -
Hey Gail!
My prayers are right there with yours for Jenny, and the entire family. Adam too. it is good the kids got to stay in a safe neighborhood.
All the doctors are ortho ones. I do have a rheumatologist too….LOL
Did you watch the funeral? It was very touching- I cried through a lot of it. Especially when Meaghan spoke. She broke my heart.
I am pooped- check my other posts for all the decorating news….LOL
Sorry you got rained out for the festival. Poor greg didn’t even get to do a substitute. I am glad, however, that you didn’t get a tornado.
I am pooped- the letters are getting blurry….LOL
Hope you have a good day tomorrow!
Adele -
Dd
I forgot to say….I loved all the speeches. Every politician needs to take a lesson form John McCain. A good, honerale honest, man, who is a Patriot like no one else could be.
Adele -
Hey girls- I got the pumpkin tureen last year, in the Figural HArvest pattern- it sits on my table all year long, and has candy in it…LOL LOL
Adele -
Hi Sue
I am so glad you posted, so we all knwo you are ok.
We are getting the heat and humidity back again tomorrow too. It will last all week. Gross.
I hope the rain stops for you. Inow how much you liked to go to the farmers market for fresh veggies, and freeze the corn for winter. I hope you will be bale to do that, at least once before the growing season is done.
Hope you have a good day tomorrow.
Adele -
OMG, Sue!!
I ahve not heard the winter report yet. I hope I get all my doctor appointments down before the snow starts.
I will be like a squirrel, gathering my nuts for winter…that sounds kind of risque….LOL
I will be doing a lot of baking to keep warm.
Have a good night- do you watch Chesapeake Shores?
Adele -
hey girls
Obviously, Gary was watching the movie- Pearl Harbor…..LOL
He was my box assistant today. It was pretty funny.
Adele -
Hi Everybody,
Gail, That is nice that the house is all settled but sad in a way. The kids will be glad to stay in their home. It is nice that the kids do not mind going from place to place right now. I hope that it never changes. I hope that Jenny does not remarry right away. She should look around and fine a guy that she really loves and will be happy with and the kids will also. Danyielle has been lucky so far. Owen likes her new man in her life. I do not know what to call him. That is really nice tat Brent has been doing some working with wood. That is nice that he made a table. I bet that it is really pretty. I did not watch McCain’s funeral. We have been to too many here lately and I just did not feel like watching one on tv. That is one thing that bothers me from working in the nusing home. There are a lot of deaths and we went to a few of them and you just cannot go to anymore.
Adele, Who knew that there was so many joint doctors. Remember when we only had to go to one doctor unless we were going to have a baby. That was the only time that you had to see another doctor. I saw your decorations and they are really cute. I wish that mine looked half as good as yours do. I do not have as many Halloween decorations but have a lot of Thanks giving. I have two haunted houses that my mom made for us when the kids were little and some other things that she made. Do not have that much left because we lost some in our move from Illinois to Mo. I hope that things went well for Joanne with packing up Winnie’s things. I know that is one of the hardest things that has to be done. It is nice that they are giving it to a nursing home. I am glad that your arm and shoulder is doing better. Have you tried to sleep in a recliner while you are is so sore. That might work for you. i hope that JJ’s school keeps the drama club going. It is important for some of the kids that do not want to play sports.
DD, You girls really pay a high price for your internet and tv. I really wish that we could get a better system that does not cost an arm and a leg. I guess that they take advantage because they know that we need it. I have not bought any Temptations for a long time. I always miss out on the holiday ones and have never seen the boofeti ones yet. Maybe next time I will not miss out. The pictures that you posted are really cute. That is nice that you are getting cooler weather. It is hot here again. I am ready for winter. Sorry for those that do not like it. I know that some of you girls get it worse where you live then we get it here. I just depends on the year.
Well that is about all from here. I hope that all of you have a great week-end.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen,
I agree it’s hard to know what to call our adult children’s housemates. I call Wendy Brent’s girlfriend but that doesn’t seem quite right either when a person is an adult. What was really weird was calling my SIL’s now husband her boyfriend-it just doesn’t seem to fit when one is way past the age of being a “boy.”lol
Did your Mom make those haunted houses at a ceramics class. I remember when that was so popular. I have some things that my MIL made that I cherish. She was really good at the ceramics. I think she had an artist’s eye. Maybe that’s where Greg gets his artistic ability. Sometimes it’s just not fair-he can sing and play instruments and also draw and paint and I can do diddly. lol
So yesterday Jenny called and said her gas alarm in the basement went off-they are made to be very sensitive and pick up minute amounts so you know you have a problem before it can get really bad. So the fire department was in and couldn’t pinpoint the problem but turned off the gas and said she would have to get a plumber in. So she had a friend who was a plumber come over and he seems to think it’s coming from where they shut off the gas supply to the fireplace when they changed it over to woodburning. Greg’s going over today to take a look but we will have to try and get a plumber in tomorrow. No one wants to come out on a holiday without charging double time and she doesn’t want to pay that. Anyway, I will feel better when tomorrow comes and they can get that resolved. it’s always something but I am glad I got them that alarm when they moved into the house.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
Jenny does that all the time with the cable companies. She’s also changed back and forth from Dish to Direct TV when the price goes up. I will have to try that sometime as it seems like our Dish keeps on getting more and more expensive. Our internet and phones are paid for by the company but that will change too when the business gets sold. I am spoiled.
We are in a rainy pattern for the next week and Greg is driving me nuts. He’s like a little kid when he cannot get out and golf or work in the yard because of bad weather. I don’t know what i will do with him when he retires and has whole days to fill during the winter. We are so different-he loves to be out and moving all the time and I like to be in and read books or watch TV or movies and I am totally okay with that. He got a hold of one of his friends and they are going to try and get out and golf between the raindrops. It still looks gloomy so I hope they can get at least nine holes in.
I did watch the funeral and I caught George Bush giving the mint to Michelle Obama before it became a viral sensation. It’s just crazy to me that those little things which we never used to think about now get plastered all over social media. You literally never know who is watching you and taking your picture anymore even if you are not famous. One time on a Friday Greg and I were in Taco Bell picking up food to take to Jenny’s and one of her friends was going through the drive through and saw us inside and snapped our picture and sent it to Jenny. How weird. i would never have thought of doing that but it’s second nature to the younger generation. They are so busy photo documenting everything that sometimes they forget to watch what is taking place right in front of them. lol It’s a whole different world. I would never think to post on Facebook that Greg and I are at the movies or at a restaurant. Who cares?! lol There really is no privacy anymore.
I figured you would have had that pumpkin tureen. I love that you also have the fall table toppers to put under the houses. I have to say Department 56 does make the most detailed stuff-I always find them enchanting. I have not started putting things out yet. I have to clean the downstairs today and then I will start putting things out. I can’t wait as I have some new and some old Valerie things.
Gail -
Sue,
I can understand that you are sad if your whole summer has been like our last several days. We are supposed to dry out tomorrow and then be wet again all week and weekend. It really is quite gloomy. I hope the predictions for your winter are wrong. I know what you mean about the cold making you achy. I’m with you on that one. Perfect weather would be about 75 degrees and sunshine. Unfortunately we can’t control the weather. I am not looking forward to winter either-especially the short daylight hours.
Gail -
Hi Colleen
Thanks for the nice comments on the decorations. The kids were here to use the pool today, and Aizen loved the decorations. he said he doesn’t want me to put up any scary witches or houses. I tried to explain they are just decorations. It was a no go. I may ask Steph to be here when I Put them up, so he can see they came from boxes, and nothing scary is in them. I may not be able to put them up, as he made it VERY clear he will not be here, because he has nightmares. I may have to pick and choose this year.
It was nice to have them all in the pool again today, as it will be closing soon. I hope they come back during the week, as this is it.
Steph took one of the Boo fetti ramekins. She loved the design.
So, Steph sees one of my Halloween ornaments, and cries for the bat one. I swear she saw it, and was not thrilled. So…..I ordered another one to do for her…..LOL
It was gross here again today, and will be worst tomorrow. it is supposed to get better on the weekend.
I am so happy the View will be live again tomorrow. I wonder if Meagan will be on. Nobody would feel bad she is not there, as she just buried her Dad. I hope she comes back soon, and can begin to heal.
Hope you have a good night!
Adele -
Gail and Colleen
I forgot to ask the same question- did Colleen’s Mom make the houses in ceramics? I still have one big pumpkin I made, one Halloween ghost, and 2 Christmas houses- the rest got broken over the years. I used to love ceramics.
Colleen- take a pic of the houses for us to see.
OMG, Gail- I hope the gas issue gets fixed soon. Gas can be a scary thing. I am glad they shut the supply off until it can be looked at and fixed. that will give you peace of mind. Also hope it is a simple, inexpensive fix.
Adele -
he Gailster!
You had to hear Aizen. he saw all the stuff, and yelled….”oh boy, I love these Nana”. Then we chatted about Halloween ones, and he definitely told me his view- no way, or he is not coming over. I may have to downsize to the not scary at all ones. I told him about the witch house one, with the witches flying around the chimney. he would have nothing of it. I even showed him the one scarecrow one in the living room, with the crows circling the scarecrow, like the witches will, and it was still a “no go”. I think I am in trouble. i may be done decorating….LOL
did Greg get the golf in today?
OMG- i did not see bush give Michelle a mint. I bet it will be all over the late night shows.
Everyone was here today, as pool time is coming to a close. We were just going to have hot dogs tonight. Bobby ran out and got more meats to grill. God bless him.
Read my post to Coleen for more info….LOl
Oh, I got an email back form Christine. they are finally sending her prescriptions. I feel so bad for what that poor girl ahs to go through to get help.
Have a good night!
Adele
PS…good for Jenny. We have to fight for our discounts!
Also happy that Brent has found such a nice hobby- making the table. -
Hi Gail,
I think that another thing that makes things hard is little Aliza. I just worry what she will think when she gets older. I probably worry about these things more then I should. Kids live different lives now and it is a shame. I guess I just still do not get it.The kids had a mom and dad that were married to each other and they were a family. I just do not know what they are now.
Yes my mom did make them. They are ceramic. She has made a lot of different things that I wish that I had now. When she was giving those things away I did not take the things that I wanted because of my nieces and nephews. They have little kids are kids that are still at home and enjoy Halloween still. We do not even get trick or treators here. So there is no one here to see them. It just seems like our moms had enough patients to do those things. I use to do ceramics but have not done any for awhile. It is hard to find a place that will fire them anymore.
That is really nice that you got our daughter and her family that gas alarm. That is such a scary thing. I am glad that they took care of it right away. You just never know. She is lucky that she has you and Greg there to help when she needs it.
Our stove is not working right now. It had to pick today to do that. We bbq today and his sister came over for dinner. So we had to cook everything on the grill. We are lucky that we have a gas grill and there is a burner on one end. We had bought some fresh green beans and new potatoes to fix and that would not have been good. I do not like to leave that stuff in the fridge for too long. You never know how long they will keep since it is so late in the season. We had to buy potato salad because we could not make it. Ron went to go and get it and he bought 2 tubs of it. Can you imagine that much potato salad for 5 people to eat? We will be eating that for a week. I told everyone that tomorrow I am going to make some fried potato salad. They did not seem too impressed.
We got a letter from Dish for being a customer for 17 years. They did not offer us anything that was worth getting excited about so probably will not do anything. They could have at least let us have a pay channel for a couple of weeks. lol
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I would not stop putting your decorations up. He will get use to them and he will like them. That is a good idea to let him help you put them up. It is a shame that they do not have a book about good witches anywhere. Maybe if you read that to him he would be more excited about them. We have a large Santa that sings and the grands were all scared of it when they were young. We finally showed them that the only way the Santa would sing is if they pushed the button and they seemed to not mind it then. The only one that has never minded having the Santa in the house was ALiza. She started hugging it right away.
It is nice that all the kids were there to play in the pool.It is a shame that summer is almost over with and they will not be playing in the pool anymore. I hate when summer ends and all the pools close and there is nothing for the kids to do here.
They are saying that we are going to have rain all week this week. I doubt it will happen they will probably change it during the week.We really need the rain.I think that our garden is just about done for the year. I do not like to think about this. I really like going out to the garden if I need something.
That is just like one of the kids. Not want something until they cannot have it. Will you give it to her? You are a good mom and you will unless you made it for someone else.
My mom did make the haunted houses. I will try and post the pictures. I have not had much luck so far with posting. Maybe my grand and I will be able to figure it out. My grand has posted most everything that I post on here.
How is your arm today? I hope that it is doing better.
Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
Your little Aliza has more spunk than the rest of them. She is too funny.
JJ used to be afraid of who he called “scary witch”. She is a 3 foot Annalee doll, with the traditional funky face and sharp long chin. For 2 years, he woudl not come up the stairs until I faced her to the wall, so he would not see her face. I have to say, I got the biggest kick out of his reaction to her. Aizen was not afraid of her. go figure! Every child is so different. Scary witch is not out yet, as she is in a different closet. All I got out today was the 2 Halloween throws, and various pillows. I stopped there, as I am a little pooped today.
I go to the knee doctor tomorrow, so decorating will be put off until Friday, to allow the shot to take. he gives me a cortisone shot first, and then we do the 3 gel shots, each 2 weeks apart. It has been about a year, so i want to start before it gets nasty out there. LAst year I waited too long, and ended up negotiating the bad weather, which as we know scares the be-Jesus out of me.
I put 2 of the cute boo fetti ramekins on the table runner in the middle of my kitchen table, with some candy, of course.
I found one of the ornaments on line to make for Steph, as am not that good of a Nana, to give mine away….LOL LOL
I hope you get the pic of the haunted houses up, so we can see them. I bet they are adorable! How is your Mom??? How is your SIL’s house doing, getting ready for the sale? I hope all is ok.
AGT is on tonight- yahoo!
Adele -
Gosh, I hope all that rain is not getting so bad where you all are Sue and Adele. I bet you feel just waterlogged by now, Sue. Does all this rain make your knee ache? We are expecting rain from the storm in the Gulf now. My brother lives in New Orleans, and I spoke to him last night. He said they have been preparing for the storm, and are watching the reports; but of course I am worried. He is an artist; and if you might like to see some of his paintings he has a website, johnturnerart.org, hope I got it right. He is such a good man. Have to warn you; some are nudes; if you look him up. I think they are tasteful and really beautiful. But most of his work is landscapes and Southern scenes. He is 3 years older than me; and was always artistic.
I think you should do your Fall and Halloween decorating too Adele. It looks just beautiful. Little Aizen must have seen something that scared him sometime. I think that the movies scare little ones with some of the things they show, but I could be wrong about all that. I also have that Fall soup toureen they sold years ago. I just love mine. I have used it as a punch bowl before too. It really holds a lot.
I went to do the ultrasound of my neck this morning at the hospital. I am praying this turns out okay. I know we are so fortunate to have so much they can do for us nowadays, but I so want to be just left alone. So all my talk about how I wanted to do something special for my “big” birthday has come down to being the best thing I could recieve would be a clean bill of health. Isn’t life strange? I think that is so great that you will be having your birthday with Brent in Branson, Gail. That will be so wonderful that you will get to see him and hopefully by then he will have a good plan in place to help him.
My birthday is next week on the 10th. The sonographer wished me a happy early birthday this morning. There was absolutely NO place to park at the hospital this morning; so Jerry had to wait in the car while I was in there. He just could not have had to walk that long distance to meet me after letting me out; and if I had to walk all that way, I don’t think I could have made it there. I thought of you, Adele. And it is about 90 here today.
I used to do ceramics too Colleen. When the boys were little, we would go together during the summer, and they would make little turtles, and bunnies and things. We had so much fun. I still have those little pieces they made (at least the ones they didn’t break) lol
I have had the same problem in knowing what to call our sons lady friends. But now they are all married, I have DIL’s. I would get these strange looks on peoples faces when they would ask me Is Joey married? Is Neal still with the same girl? and on and on. Like it was anyones business really, but I do understand their curiosity. I have always been a person who didn’t ask; felt like if someone wanted to tell me something, they would.
Better close for now. Jerry is doing a binge watch of some show; and I need a nap. So I am getting Auto Kitty, and we are retreating to the bedroom. I am taking a book, and thinking it will help me drift off for a little rest. Please say a little prayer for my test results, and I will continue to remember you all in mine. So glad Christine is getting her medicine. DD, try not get to chilled as your weather seems to be changing quickly. Hugs, Barbara -
Hi Adele,
You know Lachlan was afraid of some Halloween decorations too-maybe it’s a boy thing. Well I guess if Aizen is going to be afraid you may have to limit some of the decor. I’m glad you were able to find another ornament so you both can have one. What do you hang them on. It seems like I used to have a little Halloween branch tree. You know I have put up such limited decorations in the fall the last few years I might be surprised at what I have if I go through the boxes. Maybe Jenny would want some of my stuff. I know I have a fiber optic scarecrow somewhere and my fiber optic pumpkins.
Greg was going over to Jenny’s house today to look at her gas situation. He was supposed to go over yesterday but she never called him back and told him when to come-I guess they were at a cookout or something.
I think I’m the only one of you that never did ceramics. That was such a popular hobby for awhile.
Gosh I would doubt that Megan would be back on The View yet-especially being the conservative minority. You know I watched that show from day one for years and years and after this last presidential election I just couldn’t take those women and their constant harping anymore. And I am not even a fan of 45 but I just found that their conversations were getting me all riled up and emotionally uneasy and I just stopped watching it one day and never looked back and I find I don’t really miss it and I thought that I would. I used to love Joy Behar’s sense of humor but now I find her snippy and mean-it’s funny how your opinion changes over time. doesn’t it seem like Barbara Walters fell off the face of the earth after she left the show. You never see her anywhere-not even on special news reports. It makes me wonder about her health. Of course you haven’t watched The View for as many years as I did as you were working through all those years. I was at home eating bonbons and watching soaps. lol
They had a tornado warning last night on the other side of the county-I thought the sky was looking bad when that particular storm blew through. I guess O’Hare airport got flooded and lots of flights were cancelled. We can do without rain for a bit to dry out. Greg did get his nine holes in yesterday but he also got wet. I talked to my friend Nan this morning and her husband is now in the physical therapy part of the hospital so things are moving forward for him. He is already a week ahead since the surgery was originally scheduled for today. He’s making strides so that’s a good thing.
Gail -
Barbara,
I hope that you had a good nap.
I will continue praying for a clean bill of health for your birthday. The older we get the more we realize how important that health is.
I will go to your brother’s website and check out his artwork. How wonderful it must be to express yourself that way.
I will also pray that he will be safe from the storm.
Nature has such contrasts-it is beautiful but can also be deadly. Our coasts and cities definitely don’t need any more hurricane damage.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I know what you mean about Aliza-will she be upset when she gets bigger and realizes that her folks aren’t married or is it so common that no one even thinks about it anymore. I guess that as long as her Dad is living with them and in her life that is the main thing and the paper doesn’t matter. Also Danyielle may be reluctant to get married again and her wishes have to be taken into consideration too. I think times have changed and the kids now grow up seeing families that come in all different configurations. The main thing is to have parents that are good to them.
Greg just got home and he says that he thinks everything is okay at Jenny’s. She had her neighbor who is a plumber come over and and he thinks it was the gas line to the gas starter for the fireplace that was the problem. So he had to cut a hole in the basement ceiling to turn the valve off and now that it has been shut off there have been no more problems. They never used that gas starter anyway-they just started the fireplace with kindling and matches so they won’t even miss it.
I hope your stove gets fixed soon. We never realize how much we use an appliance until it breaks.
Ron sure got a lot of potato salad! Plus I’m sure that store bought is not as good as yours and now you will have a lot left over.
I made zucchini boats yesterday. They were pretty good and I told Greg that they were just for him since they go along with his paleo diet as they were all meat, vegetables and cheese. He has been eating like this for a long time now. He has more will power than I would ever have.
I got that letter from Dish too. Like you said it would mean more if they would give you money off the bill or some premium channel for free for a bit. The letter is just another piece of garbage.
We finally have sun today after the wet weekend. We need a day to dry out before the next storms blow in. I’ll bet the balloon festival was a bust as you can’t launch balloons with wind and rain. It’s a shame when people spend so much time organizing something like that to have the weather ruin it.
Gail -
Barbara,
Your brother’s artwork is fantastic! I see he has a sense of humor too.
Sounds like he’s a bit of a free spirit like my older brother too. Instead of an artist my brother is a cowboy and a songwriter.
By the way it was .com not .org. for anyone else that wants to look. -
Hi Barbara!
Sue is getting the rain, and I’m getting the heat. I went to my knee doctor today, to sign up for the 3 gel shots, and they gave me a cortisone one to start with. they say the gel shots work better with the cortisone first. Gary went with. He wanted to ehar the scoop….LOL As soon as I got out of the car, I got sick to my stomach- felt dizzy and nauseous. i can’t stand this high humidity. As soon as I wa sin the doctor’s office, in a couple of minutes, I was fine. So Gary brought the car to the door for me, and that was great! I usually go by myself. There is a reason for bringing the hubby along….LOL
Of course we will all be praying for good results on your ultrasound.
Happy early Birthday!! Your birthday is the day after JJ’s…..and 3 days after Gary’s. Gary turns 7- Friday.
I wrote down the website for your brother, and will sneak a peek tonight. I love art work.
I am grounded from decorating for 48 hours, as the knee has to be iced, for the shot to take. I am dying to get more out. I put away the things I keep put all the time at the end of the kitchen, and it looks empty!
I am dying to see what DD does too. She loves to decorate, and put up her pretty pictures.
Can you imagine how much fun we would all have, if we went to a ceramics class together…..me, you, Sue, DD, Colleen, and the Gailster??? We woudl get kicked out for all the laughing.
I know Aizen is in the “night terror” stage. I just can’t remember when it ends. By 5, maybe?? do you know?
How has Jerry’s back been?
Sending prayers, and good thoughts your way for a birthday surprise….good news!!!
Adele -
Hey GAilster
Please read the post to Barbara for all the daily news.
That Is funny about The View. I just started to watch it in 2012, when I retired. I agree on Joy Behar. I wonder if her health is not so good anymore, and she is getting cranky. She does look very stiff, the way she sits in her chair. I pick up on those things, due to my difficulties….LOL I am the pain police….LOL
OMg- thank God you did not have a tornado. Those awful storms are supposed to head this way, but I am not sure when or how bad they will be when they get here. I haven’t seen the weather yet today.
The Boo Fetti cookie jars arrived. So, I say to Gary…isn’t it adorable?? He says…in a very low disgusted tone….yes, dear. LOL LOL He tolerates all my crazy decorating. He did add…is this the last thing coming for a while? Yes- only waiting for the boo fetti carrier. Also got the harvest one, and now I will have 3 to put casserole dishes in for Thanksgiving. I am thrilled I can bake 3 early, and they will stay warm in there. this is a good thing.
Weather is on- was 92 today, with high humidity. tomorrow w is a heat advisory, with a feel of….105! Craop. My nose will not go outside at all, nor will the rest of me. scattered storms for tomorrow ppm, and a break with dry air, and in the 70’s. Thank the Good Lord.
I hope Greg gets the gas leak fixed soon. that is concerning, for sure. You woudl think Jenny would have her Dad over asap. I guess because it is shut off, she feels ok. Do they have hot water, with no gas? Or electric?
Dying to see who gets eliminated tonight…..
You know, I wonder if it is a boy thing with the scary stuff. I hope he gets over it quick, especially by next year. I think if I do nto put on the scary noises, or the ones that look like lightening, he will be good. We will see. I am like you, I hope Heather and Steph take some of my decorations.
Have a good night…I am about to order pizza for me and Tillie, and a sub for you know who.

Adele, Gail posted above it is .com not .gov I tried that when I could not get in.
We had a 4 day heatwave very high humidity. Now we are to get rain from Friday through Monday from Gordon. It is going to be chilly too with temps only in the 60’s, guess I need to pull out a sweatshirt because there will be no sun to warm it up & damp from the rain. I doubt you will get storms because until it comes across the country only rain will remain. Just what we don’t need more rain.
I think you mind the heat because you spend all your time in AC. I minded it more when I worked all day in AC. It really hit you when you walked out. But I grew up with no AC not in school & no we did not get out if it was hot same as no snow days. Then when I worked at the lumber company there was no AC & the men worked outside in it everyday. They had it worse than I did as they also got heat off the machinery. So it can be done. When I was out today they were working on the road believe me that is a hot job. That is why I think we are raising children to be wimps. They think if it is hot they won’t have to work.I was to the doctor today don’t go back for 6 months. He gave me my flu shot while I was there so I don’t need to go back for that. He ask if I wanted a shot in my back but I said not yet. If the pain gets worse can get one then.
-
Hi Sue!
So glad to hear from you. I will google it again…LOL
We need the rain, as it ha been dry and hot for so long. I hope we get some rain today. Have not heard the news yet.
You may be right, as when i open the door, the heat slaps me in the face, and I get immediately nauseous.
I think the schools have to find another solution for the number of school days they need. With going earlier in the extreme heat, and snow days, maybe add an hour a day to make it up, and let them go back after Labor day, and get out the beginning of June. they have to come up with something.
I am glad your back is better, and hope it stays that way. that is good news!
I wish it was cool enough to wear my Halloween sweatshirt!!
Hope you are ok, and stay that way. Pretty soon our guy willl be back on Friday’s….LOL
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I’m sitting here going what guy on Friday but then I remembered that you guys watch Blue bloods. lol
It’s funny I was never told to ice my knee after a shot-maybe because mine was for a baker’s cyst.
Tell Gary Happy Birthday tomorrow. somehow I don’t think men are as thrilled with our pretty decorations as we are. That’s usually why I don’t even bother to ask for an opinion as I feel the answer will be less than enthusiastic. Although I like to think that if I didn’t make things look pretty that he would miss it if it wasn’t there. I’m glad that Gary came with you to the doctor’s so that he could pick you up afterwards. I’m sorry that the heat affects you in such a terrible way-that must be awful. I don’t especially like the heat and humidity but I can be in it if I have to as long as I stay hydrated.
Yes, they had no hot water without the gas. Everything is okay now that they shut that gas off to the fireplace lighter. No more alarms and everything is working again. I’m glad I got them that alarm.
We would all have fun if we took some kind of class together we would be the best but the naughtiest students. lol
I am glad the trapeze people got put through. I love to watch the way he just throws her around like she is a piece of cotton candy. Plus we always say he and Greg have the same physique. lol That Shin Lim is pretty amazing. I feel bad that Simon said that about Garth Brooks writing a song for that one guy as that really puts Garth in a hot spot. I figure if that guy doesn’t win Simon will get him a contract anyway since he likes him so much. So many talented people but only one winner. It’s tough as I thought that husband and wife singing duo were really talented too.
Have not watched the last Making It yet so I don’t know the winner. That show grew on me as I loved seeing what they were going to create each week.
I’m sure there will be new sitcoms coming out this fall. some will be good and some won’t make it as always. My interest has been piqued by that show manifest where the airplane was missing for five years. I always get hooked on those shows that have kind of a weird premise and then they get cancelled on me. I gave up on the Blacklist as I was so far behind in the episodes. I still love James Spader though.
Gail -
Sue,
You really have had some weird weather this summer. Everything must be so soggy. Did you get a lot of mosquitoes with all that rain? I hope that you will have a mild winter. Glad that you were able to get out to the doctor’s.
Gail -
Hey Gailster!
the guys would miss the house looking so nice. Or, they could purge the entire place, and have a lot more room….LOL LOL
I have always been told to ice for one to 2 days after- even the spine shots.
Miserable night last night. Most of the time when I get a shot, i have to pee a lot. While watching TV, I went every 11 to 17 minutes- THe Husband was timing me- how funny is that. We kept pausing the show, so I didn’t miss anything. I was up 8 times last night peeing, and my neck was killing me- both sides. I had to take one of those indomethacin’s- extremely heavy duty aspirin med- the one they gave me for the gout. Even that did not take the pain away. It went away when I got up this am. I also get very hot when I have a shot. Weird, huh? I am still hot today, but the bathroom trips have stopped. My doctor said quite a few people get that reaction to the shots. I feel so wonderfully special…..
The girls are stopping by today, after their first day back at school. Poor Amanda has a terrible cold. They were both very excited about this semester.
Amanda is now only at the local restaurant, and Marissa starts at a beauty store next week. She didn’t want to be a manager anymore, until after she finishes school. It was getting too much. they were always calling her- even when she was in Italy. the district manager was hoping she would change her mind. She did go to lunch with her Yankee friends yesterday, so that was nice.
Tomorrow, I will get a few more things out for Halloween.
That’s funny you forgot about our Blue Bloods star. DD loves him too.
hey- did you see the neat Fall cardigans from Quacker??? Since I love, love love the Christmas one they did last year, and wore it all winter when it was chilly in here (which it definitely will be due to the cost of oil this year-they have all been warned), I got both colors….LOL
I am making zucchini and eggs tonight. Tillie;s favorite. Maybe she will come up tonight. I hate to have her eat down stairs. It seems mean, even though it is not my choice, it is hers. Gary has been warning me for a year this day is coming faster than I want. Last night, it wa so hot I did take out. I ordered 2 small pizzas, so she had her own downstairs.
Hope your weather is cooler than ours.
Adele
PS I keep forgetting to say this. I put the ornaments on the knobs of the kitchen cabinets. -
Hi Everybody,
well I went to the eye doctor the other day and my eyes are sore from the tests. They told me that I have cataracts behind the implants that they put in. They will have to us a laser to get to them. If it is not one thing it is twenty others. They had said that this could happen.
Adele, When my oldest grands were little Mandy bought a bowl with a witch on it and it sang I want candy. It scared them to death. She gave it to me and
I put it in the back room and did not get it out until they got use to it. I know that all the doctors that I go to when they give me a shot for any sore spot they tell me to use ice to help with the pain. I guess that is just the thing they do. I hope that the shot to the knee will help. I may have to have shots to my knee. I have arthritis in my knee and it is uncomfortable. They have me wearing a brace when it is sore. I think that it is going to take a long time for them to get my sil house in shape to sell. Her son is going to help Ron with the house when the weather cools down. I will be glad when he can help. He cannot stand hot weather. He gets really sick when it is hot and has been like that since he was a child. If you can take some pictures of your boo fetti dishes and post them on here. I have never seen them.
Barbara, Your brother is a really good artist. I looked at his pictures the other day. Does he sell a lot of his paintings? He should they are really good. That does not make sense that they do not have a good parking place at the hospital for people when they have to go there. You would think that they would have parking for everyone there. It is like that everywhere. It is good that Jerry was with you and could pull up to the door so you could walk right in. My girls were all married at one time but now two of them aren’t. I have been calling him my granddaughters dad. That way I am not calling him anything. I know that my daughter will not marry for awhile and may never marry again. it is kind of sad. It is sad when the big birthdays come all we want is a clean bill of health. The parties and everything else seems to be unimportant. I talked to my daughter today and she said that it was pouring down rain there. My grand was out playing in the rain and coming in and giving her mom a big hug. She can be a little monkey. You are in my prayers. I hope that you get the results of your tests soon.
Gail, That is great that Greg and the neighbor found the problem and got it fixed for Jenny. That would be rough without gas for very long. I hope that the kids are still enjoying school. My grands are about to get their first break for the year. The ones that live in Tennessee. They will get two or three weeks. I just hope that they have fun and can do something with their parents. That year round school would drive me crazy. Our stove is fixed it was a leak in a tube on the tank. It was an easy fix. We are still eating potato salad. We will be eating it for another week. I wish he would not have bought that much. As long as he is eating it with me then it will be okay. I am not eating that by myself. The kids are already sick of it. Your zucchini boats sound really good. How do you make them? That would be a good recipe to have. Greg is really sticking to that diet. He has really good will power. People like that really have to be worried about. They make the rest of us look bad. We are still waiting for some rain. It has been going all around us. Maybe we will finally get some this week-end.
When does the new shows of Blue Bloods start? I have not heard when all those shows begin again. We have lost track of agt. It was just so long and I did not understand how their system worked. I am glad that the rest of you are still enjoying it.
Well that is about all from here. I think that I have more reading to do to get caught up. it is not good to get behind.
Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! this makes the 3rd try at this in 2 days!! I had a post all ready to send & poof it was gone. It’s so frustrating. I hope this finds everyone doing fine. I keep hearing about those storms out there. And now I hear there’s another storm heading your way. I wish some of that rain would come this way. We sure could use it, with all the fires still burning out here. I have friends returning home from S. Ca. & they were rerouted around the I5 fire, as I call it. I tried to get em to come home up the coastal highway, but they didn’t. I kept telling em it’d be alot cooler & less smoky. We ‘ve had a few days of smoke in the air again. It’s gone now tho. It wasn’t as bad as it was that other time. They’re saying we should be getting a few showers next week. Looooong overdue!!
Adele, thank you for the info on Xfinity. I’ll give it a try. I decorate for myself than for others. After all I’m the one who has to look at it day after day. I don’t decorate so much for Halloween as I do for fall. It lasts thru Nov. then it’s time for Christmas. Your decorations are adorable. I don’t have the haunted houses. I just have a few things. But I can’t wait to see your Boofetti on display. I have some Harvest baking dishes, & Pumpkin Patch bowls with lids, & I’ll be getting my new FL Pumpkin oval bowl pretty soon. I love the bright orange but I didn’t want a whole big set in order to get it.
I have to confess I ordered a set of 5 birds from VPH the other day. They looked so cute & I couldn’t resist!! Shame on me, sigh.I didn’t pass the bug test this week so on it goes. I got some face masks & bug spray & I’m going to spray the heck out of here. They won’t let me set fire to the place so I have to do something.
My friend, Diane, drove me down to Albany where my brother lived. I hardly recognized the place. The town has changed so much. There hasn’t been a service yet, & maybe there won’t be. I haven’t heard anything.
I haven’t read all the posts yet so if I leave something out, I’ll get back to it.
I just hope you’re all okay.dd

Hi Colleen
Blue Bloods starts the 3rd or 4th week of this month, I think. It seems everything stats the week of the 27th, or so.
The knee is good now. No pains. Ask your doctor if you can get the series of 3 gel shots. The gel puts a cushion between the joints, and it really helps, if you catch it early enough. i get them once a year, and it feels like nothing is wrong with the knee. At the end of the year, I start to get little twinges, that remind me it is time for another round.
I am so sorry about your eyes. That is just awful. Do they have to take the implant out, to get to the cataract? I was told I will probably need the cataract surgery next year.
Isn’t it funny the kids get scared of certain things, that are not scary at all? It is all in their perspective. I got scary witch out today, and one more Dept. 56 house- the “Halloween Dance” one- the dancers spin around to the song Monster Mash. I had to hot glue two of the figures back on.
So, Gary is now 70. Everyone is looking forward to breakfast on Sunday. JJ asked if he could bring one more friend, and of course we said ok, as it is his birthday too.
Marissa brought over GAry’s favorite cake today, with Heather- Boston cream Pie. She also got him some Whoopie Pies. they are such sweeties.Barbara…..I found the site your brother has. He is a fabulous artist! You must be so proud. I enjoyed the work he did.
I am posting the pic of a Hawk on our chimney- Heather took it, while they were helping GAry with the pool today. I hope he had not eaten my cute bunnies!I hope Ron gets help son, so the house can e finished before the snow flies, as they say.
Have a good night!
Adele -
Hi Dd
I did hear about the fires that started up again. That’s just awful. I felt so awful for you, and everyone up there.
They are watching a bunch of storms in the ocean. Hope they stay far away. I wish you could get a rin storm, to stop all the fires.
I am so sorry you have not heard anything yet about your brother. I think a lot of people do not do anything formal anymore. I hope they at least do some service, to give you some closure, and a time to say goodbye. That was very nice of your friend to take you on a tour of your old town. Isn’t it weird how much changes over the years? Nothing stays the same, for sure.
I love the Fall, and all your decorations, and beautiful pictures. Thank you for posting them.
Look at my post to Colleen to see the hawk that flew by Gary and the girls in the yard. I have seen him around, but not that close. I just saw his pic, as I was not out there.
Getting pooped, so I will write more tomorrow…..
Have a good night.
I am so sorry about the bug problem. you are always in my prayers. Love you!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I’ll be right out for the Boston Cream Pie, & the Whoopie pies. I don’t think I’ve had wild the Whoopie pies before. They sound good!! I hope Gary had a great day!
I haven’t been able to decorate yet. Until the bug problem is taken care of I have to leave stuff packed up in tubs. The pics are probably from last yr or the yr before. Thank you for the compliment. I’ll see if I can find some other pics from yrs past.
We just had a rain shower a while ago tonight. Just enough to stir up the dust. I see Hawaii is gonna get hammered again. I wish the jet stream would send some of it this way. we call it the pineapple express.
I have a wild weekend planned, doing laundry. Woooooo hoooooo. lol. That’s all I have for tonight.
Have a grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat weekend, everybody.
dd -
Hi Adele,
The picture of the hawk on the roof of your house was really good. Hawks can be really pretty until you see them eating road kill. We have then here and they took all of our female guineas.
Thanks for the info on Blue Bloods. I miss out on all the start dates of the shows. I am still really upset that The Chew is going off the air. The new show that is coming on to replace them is just like the on that guy quit. The girl even has blonde hair like Kelly. You would think that they would have come up with something new and not the same old thing. So now I will have to find a different show to watch. Did you see that Carla Hall is going to be on the baking show for Halloween cakes. They were showing her tonight with another judge that I did not recognize.
I am going to talk to my doctor and see if I can get the gel shots. I really need to do something. It does not hurt all the time but there are times when it hurts to walk. Well you know how that is. Old age really stinks.
Tell Gary Happy Birthday! I forgot to say that last night. I hope that he has a good night and a good breakfast. Sounds like he is getting a lot of good food already. They are all really good to him and giving him the food that he likes. You do have good kids.
Well that is about all from here. I have to get off we are having storms here and they have started again. They are supposed to end tomorrow.
Have a great night.
Colleen -
OMG, DD!
It is so cool here, I am actually thinking I opened too many windows. Very dreary too- no sun at all.
I am so sorry you are missing the best decorating season. I know how much you love it. I took a couple of pics of the kitchen to show you.
Doing nothing today, ut needlepoint. I don’t want to stress out the back or shoulder before tomorrow and then ruin the day. When we get home after brunch, I will try to do some more.
Hope you are ok. How are Kay and Critt? Are they going through the same stress of the bug issue?
I wish I could say something to make you feel better. This is so terribly unfair.
Love you!
Adele -
clickon the pic of boofetti cookie jar to see the needlepoint on the cabinet…..
-
Hi Colleen
What channel is the Halloween cake contest? I had no idea Carla was on another show.
I hope the storms passed over you, with no damage.
Bobby took a pic of a hawk on my neighbor’s roof devouring a squirrel. I wonder if it is the same one that was here yesterday.
It is cool here today, and I am pretty sure I need to close some windows….LOL It is making my shoulder ache. we go from 90+ with high humidity, to keep windows closed becasue it is so chilly. that is New England for you!
The kids are very good to Gary, and he always says how lucky he is. I just wish his son wold have called, or their kids. His bio grands never call to say Happy Birthday, or anything else. I still have their Easter baskets, as Gary ordered me not to send them….he is getting pretty pissed at them. They both have cell phones, no excuse. His son told him he was going away for the weekend, and could not call him. Seriously? No cell service at a golf club? At the end of the day yesterday, Gary mentioned how ticked off he was at all of them. Oh well.
I hope your weather is better this weekend.
I hope your doctor will do the gel shots for you. they have made such a difference for me. Did I tell you they don’t do them for shoulders? Stinks.
Have a good one!
Adele -
hey girls- here are the ones I finished for people for tomorrow.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I have dish and it is on cook channel. They were advertising it today. I do not think that it will start until the 30th of this month. I will pay more attention to it the next time that they show it. We watch that channel because they are showing the Micheal Symon show. The one about bbq brew and something else. I cannot remember the name of it. They were showing some people that bbq lamb. I had never heard of that before.
we did get the rain but not the bad storms. It is cool here like it is at your place. I cannot believe how the temp has dropped. It is not going to get that hot all week. It will be a nice week. I cannot believe that it is supposed to get down in the 50’s tonight. It is a really big change.
Bobby must like to take nature pictures. I do not like pictures of any animal eating another. squirrels are so cute. That is so sad. I guess that is nature and it is how life is.
That is terrible that Gary’s bio children and grands are not nicer to him. At least he has your kids who are really good to him. You really trained your children right. They are all good kids.I hope that if my kids are ever put to the test they will do as well.
The boofetti dishes are really cute. I wish that I had seen them when they came out. I am always so slow at seeing them. They have so few Halloween things on there I never think about Temptations. I hope that next year they have a few more things. The decorations are really cute and hope that come back with them next year and have a few more shows. I hope that this year they found out that people really like those types of things.
I like the ornaments that you have made also. That is a good place for them on the kitchen cabinets. I would hang things off my chandelier in my dining room. It is not something fancy it is just a three light one and it is not with the crystals or anything. You know what kind I mean.
well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi DD,
Sorry that you still have the bugs. Will they come and spray again or are you on your own. They have to be doing something wrong. They may need for you and Jewel to move out of the apartment for a few days so they can spray really good. It is hard to figure out where you got them. It has to be coming from another apartment.
That is terrible that you are getting the smoke again. These fires are really getting bad. I do not understand why they keep starting. Is this one a persons fault or was it lightening? It is scary when things like that happen over and over.
i hope that you can decorate soon. You like to so much and you do such a good job. It would be hard to not have them out. hopefully they are gotten rid of soon.(the bugs)
It is a shame that they do not let you know if they are going to do anything for your brother. I hope that they let you know soon. That was nice that you got to drive thru the town that your brother use to live in.
Thank you for posting all the pictures. they are really cute. I am ready for fall. It feels like that right now. I know that we will not stay cool there will be more hot weather that will come thru.
Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
OMG!!!! I see you guys are gonna get hammered by a hurricane. You guys can’t catch a break. I see there’s 2 more behind it, too. we’re in for a few showers this week, but that’s all. At least it’s a start. The temps will be in the 60s. Temps are dropping quickly out here. I’ll keep all of you in my prayers.
Adele, I hooked up the Xfinity box today. It’s gonna take some getting used to tho. Talking to the remote & all. The pic on the TV is so much clearer than before. I see your Halloween décor is cute. I see you have the Pumpkin Patch bowls too. and the boofetti minis are cute too. They had a set of 4 mugs on ITKWD of Boofetti. On Wed. it’s a cooking on Q day.
I took furball over to Critt’s this afternoon so I could spray the bugs. I didn’t want her around to breathe the spray. I used a face mask, & I coughed for half an hour. I had all the fans going & the windows open. I’m beyond getting sick of this crap.I better end this before I lose it.
Have a great week.dd

Hi DD,
I hope that this works and the bugs will all be gone. I have heard that those things are hard to get rid of. If everyone in the building is not spraying it is not going to work.
I hope that you are feeling okay after spraying and poor Jewel also. That is terrible that you have to put up with all of that.
I like all the pictures that you posted. Gail will be out looking for a quilt with butterflies on it after she sees that one. That is really pretty. It would be nice to be able to quilt. My mom use to do that but I never learned how. I am not good with a needle and thread.
It is nice that Critt is home and could help you out with Jewel. How is Kay doing? Is she at home or was she at her sisters.? It is nice to have good friends in the building with you.
Have a good night.

Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone safe & healthy (as healthy as we can be at our age). I’m worried about you guys on the East coast. This sounds like a very dangerous storm. Are any of you in the path of it? I’d move to the West coast ASAP!! At least we don’t get hurricanes like that. As I’ve said before, we could use some of that rain. We’re supposed to get some this week but I’ll believe it when I see it. It’s been typical fall days tho. Cloudy & alot cooler!!!Oh, Christmas came early for me today. I’d ordered 2 “as is” wreaths, one with red roses, pine cones & ornaments, the other bright red poinsetias pine cones, & berries. OMG they are Gorgeous. They also had garlands to match. I think they were VPH, but not sure. They look like something she’d have.
Colleen, I never learned how to crochet or needle point either. I remember knitting pot holders as a kid, but that’s as far as I got. No sweaters or anything like that.
Kay’s sister came yesterday & spent the night with her. She was sooooo happy when I saw her today. She’s been bad the past month or so due to the smoke but she’s getting better. I was worried about her last month. Critt’s his usual self. He rolled up in his wheelchair today, pulled his Tshirt up over his nose & demanded I turn over Jewell to him. He’s done that so many times before. I just roll my eyes & tell him NO WAY!!! He has a warped sense of humor.
Well, I better close before I lose this.
take care & stay safe!!

Hi DD,
These storms are really getting out of hand. All these poor people on the east coast are really getting hit. I do not like hurricane season or tornado season. I will be glad when winter comes and then we will not have to worry about anymore storms.
Your wreaths sound really pretty. They will look really nice in your apartment. Where will you hang them? I imagine one will look really pretty in your window. That is nice that you ordered them.
I never knitted pot holders put had those hook things that they use to sell. I made them that way and by the time I was done my mom was tired of getting pot holders. She always said that they were pretty but now that I am older I know that she was being kind. lol
Critt sounds like he is really funny. That is funny that he tries to hold you up and all he wants is Jewel. He would be a good neighbor. That is good that Kay is doing better and all the smoke is gone. That smoke would really be bad no matter how your health is. It would just be so hard on you and Kay and Critt. It would be nice if the smoke would clear away and not come back. I know that all of you are tired of all the smoke. I just wish that they could stop all the fires.
I like the picture of the cat with the little poem on it. It made me think of you and Jewel. I imagine that Jewel feels the same way about you. She is such a pretty cat.
well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Colleen
Please do get me the name of that show. I googled Halloween cake contest on my xfinity remote for the TV, and a kids show came up, so I hit record for it. Is that the one? Even so, I would love to watch Michael Simon again!!
That is funny, as I hang things from all the lights here too- kitchen, dining and living room….LOL I still have the adorable Quacker Halloween and Christmas ornaments I hang there. I stopped decorating, as I had a weirdo eye issues yesterday. Long story short, eye doctor (who I called immediately) said it was an ophthalmic migraine. I got so spooked, I was ready to get to the ER, and then decided to call the eye dr. first, and see if I should head over there. It was a semicircle of bright light that pulsed. She said to wait 10 minutes, and call her back as it mat disappear as soon as it came- which it did. I even did the tests they tell you to do for a stroke, and passed all those….LOL
GAry’s feelings get hurt all the time by his son and family. I have finally decided to honor his feelings, and not call, nor like anything they have on facebook. Enough is enough. I do not invite them here anymore, either. We do not even get a call of thanks when I send a check for their birthdays. GAry does not want me to send anything again. I feel a little weird about not sending anything. I feel it is not right.
It poured here yesterday, but we needed it. We have not have significant rain in a while- just gloomy skies.
I hope that hurricane gets weaker. That is so scary, and all those people could lose their homes, and lives. I hope they listen and evacuate.
I hope it will nto affect Barbara, or Sue. We are too far north to get us. But, Amanda is supposed to go to Florida for the weekend to visit with her old friend. I am praying they will cancel the flight. Scares me with her going down south right now.
Hope you are all good!!
Adele -
Hey DD
You can even ask what the weather is outside, and the Tv will answer you. You can say…record blue bloods, and it will record all episodes. I know you are going to love it.
OMG…I immediately searched for boo fetti mugs, and found nothing. Was it a set of 2 mugs? I found one “fall set”. Is that it?? I believe I missed that….all because of The Husband’s birthday….LOL LOL
I think we are just getting humidity and coastal surges, with rip currents. So, we are in the clear for now. I am worried about Barbara, Not sure about Sue. Sue may be too far north. Either way, I will be saying a prayer for everyone affected.
Please read my post to Colleen for other info….LOL
Hope you are good, and no more smoke.
I feel so bad for you and your kitty with all this spraying, and mess. What you have been going through is just awful.
Love you!!
Adele -
Hi Everyone,
First of all, Happy Belated birthday Barbara. I had every intention of posting something and then events here intervened.
Colleen, I’m sorry your cataracts came back. that is really sucky! Are the laser treatments very long and involved? You know I think one of the reasons that Greg has been able to stick to his diet for so long as that I think this time he is using self hypnosis to keep himself in the groove and to stop cravings. He has more will power than I will ever have.
DD, your wreaths sound beautiful. I love wreaths. I used to have them all over but have tried paring down in recent years. I’m sorry the bug issues continue. It has been a long time now. I’m glad that you have Critt and Kay in the building to be friends with and keep you company. and of course Jewell.
Adele, I think I will have to send you a map of the US with dots where we all live so you won’t worry so much. I believe that Sue is in central Pennsylvania far from any hurricanes. (correct me if I’m wrong Sue) Barbara is outside of Memphis so she would have to drive through the whole state of Mississippi from the northern border down to the gulf before she would be on the ocean. Now I would imagine when there are storms in the gulf they get rain but they are a whole state away from the ocean. And these are big states-not those dinky little east coast sized states. lol
I have gotten those occular migraines for probably 15 years. The first time is sort of a shock but after awhile you get used to them and can tell when they are coming on which is good because if you are driving they interfere so you need to pull over for a bit. Mine are a little different as they are on the periphery but they are kind of like folded paper steps is how I describe them. If you google them they will show you the different patterns that they sometimes show up in. They are totally benign though so that is good. However, as an aside to everyone sometimes when you have flashing lights on your peripheral vision it can be a sign of a detached retina and that is serious. See an eye doctor immediately.
So we had a sad thing happen Saturday night. Jenny called about 7ish and said they just got home from shopping and Mimi ( her French bulldog) was just laying in her living room and she had went to the bathroom and was just laying there next to it and wouldn’t move. She wanted to know what to do. so we told her we would come over if she wanted to take her to the emergency vet. Then we called her back and said we would come over anyway just to keep her company and see what we thought about Mimi but we needed a few minutes to grab some things to bring over with us. So before we could even finish up and leave the house she called us back and said that she thought that Mimi had died. So we went over there and checked-she had her bed and moved to to the kitchen to keep her away from the kids-and yes poor little Mimi had passed away. she was twelve so that’s not an unusual time for a dog to pass away. Anyway, I had brought over some new games to sort of distract the kids so we stayed and played with the kids and just hung around for awhile for moral support. Jenny lives in town so we took Mimi home with us and the next morning Greg buried her out on our property where we have some of the other pets buried and he made a grave marker so she would have one like the others who are out there. So between the gas leak and Mimi passing away Jenny had a rough week.
Yesterday I had an eye appointment and picked out some new glasses and ordered my year’s supply of contacts so I am all set with my eyes for the year. Then last night the school that Piper and Lachlan go to had a dinner where the kids can bring their VIP’s so Jenny, Greg and I went to that with the kids.
I had my consultation about the varicose veins last week. You don’t even see a doctor-you see a girl that tells you about the different things that they do and then you have an ultrasound on your legs which did show vein disease which was no big surprise. So then you make another appointment to see the actual doctor and he reads the ultrasounds and tells you what treatment he recommends. So that appointment is tomorrow and then I have to fly back home and babysit as the kids have an early release from school tomorrow and Jenny needs someone to watch them since Adam now starts work at an earlier time. So I will be pooped tomorrow night.
Gail -
OMG, Gail
I am picturing Barbara and Sue driving to the hurricane……
I do get so worried about everyone, don’t I? It drives my kids here nuts. My latest worry is Amanda’s flight to Florida on Thursday. What if the hurricane goes to Florida??? Do planes fly over hurricanes?? LOL LOL LOL
That is awful about Jenny’s puppy. So good of greg to be the Pet Undertaker. I see him sadly digging the hole, and doing the sign of the cross, as he puts them to rest. Greg is such a good Papa.
The light was aorund the left edge of the eye- in a semi circle. It was weird. I will have to google pics of it. Do you get any pain with them? I did nto notice any. Now we have yet another thing in common. Would that it were something positive!
They are showing our Disaster Crew (not sure of their exact name) out of Beverly Ma, that are headed out to the Carolina’s. they go to all disasters, and were even at 911. They are towing tons of search and rescue gear, dog handlers, etc. It gives me the creeps to think they will be needed.
I can’t believe it has been 17 years since 911. Wow.
Hope your day is good, and you are getting ready to watch AGT. I am doing a sausage/red pepper/onion/ potato roast- a one pot wonder….LOL Just as simple as a crock pot dinner. Tomorrow i am doing soup, as Marissa is sick.
HAve a good night!
Adele -
Hi DD!
OMG, you made me laugh so hard, I even read it to Gary. Your friend Critt is so funny. He would make a great Quacker buddy. He needs a sparkly guy shirt.
Read Gail’s Geography report that was for me, and my worry wart self. You are right there with me….LOL LOL
I could nto get a boo fetti mug and I am so sad about it. I even googled them on Ebay and Amazon, and the temptations site. No go. I thought I would be lucky, like with the Pumpkin man.
That was nice that Kay’s sister came to visit her. I hope you got to spend some time with the sisters too, as they would have enjoyed that.
That was a fabulous find on the wreaths. You go girl!!
AGt on tonight…….Blue Bloods is coming…..
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
It’s official fall has arrived here!! We just had the most measurable rain we’ve had in 3 months. It’s cleared out the smoke so the air smells good again.
Gail, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Jenny’s pet. It’s always heartbreaking to lose a pet.Adele,
-
Hi Adele,
I will watch and see if I can find the name to that show again. Micheal Symone is not on that show he has his own show doing bbq. He goes around to different states and to places that he likes. It is pretty good. Carla Hall is on the one about the cake. That one will be interesting.
This is just not fair. We are all getting all types of weird things going on with us. We need a break. Maybe if we pray really hard We will all get over this stuff. Maybe say a rosary or two. That may help.
That is not right that Gary’s family treat him like that. He is such a good man if he wasn’t your kids would not treat him like that. Your kids seem to really like him. I do not blame him for not wanting you to send them things or call them. If they do not respond or even thank you then they do not deserve for you to be so good to them.
That hurricane is really getting scary.I cannot believe all the people that are affected by it. I hope that you do not have a lot of storms because of it. They said that we will have some but it is going to stay nice here for awhile. Then we will get some rain. We will see.
I am glad that Gail let you know that Sue and Barbara will be okay. I knew that Barbara would be because my daughter lives in Tennessee and she is not worried about the storms. I hear from her all the time about what is going on there. She likes to let me know if she is having nice weather. She thinks that she is funny.
I can see why you do not want Amanda to go to Florida. It just does not seem safe unless she lives in the middle of the state and she is not near the ocean.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
The eye doctor said that it is not a long procedure at all. I am not sure if they will do both eyes at one time or if they do them separately. I have to go back in six months and see what is going on with them. This is really a mess. I did not think that I would ever have to go thru this again. Oh well that is life and I do not want to lose my eye site so it will be worth going thru it again.
What is it with men. They can stick to diets and lose more weight then we ever can. Ron and I can go on the same diet and he will lose the weight and I won’t so I do not diet with him.
I am so sorry to hear about the dog. You are good grandparents bringing new games to keep them busy. I hope that they all have taken it well. It is nice that Greg buried Mimi for them and they did not have to worry about it. We have a pet grave yard at our house also. Ours is in the woods. It is nice to have them here and we did not have to find a pet cemetery. We even buried Danyielle’s x husbands dog here. If I would have thought about it I should have had him bury it himself in his parents yard.
That is frustrating that you do not see the doctor. You have to go thru all of that and then go and see him before they can say what needs to be done.It wold be nice if they could do it all at once instead of running back and forth. I guess that I am getting old and cranky. I do not like going to a nurse practitioner because they can do anything they have to talk to the doctor also. Then the doc decides what to do.
I guess I better get off of here and get to bed. I have to get up early tomorrow and go to the doctor for blood work. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I’m so pissed I could chew nails!!! I’ve written 3 posts & have lost all of em!!
So, I;m gonna send pics of my new wreaths now before I lose this one;
B sure to watch ITKWD tonight as those mugs will be on. Unfortunately all fall patterns in OW are gone. FL fall is still available as is Festive.
I hope.
dd -
Adele,
Hope you are watching the Q today. Saw boofetti 3 bowl set and another set with serving bowl and two ramekins. Cute!
I’m off to the doctor and babysitting. -
HI Adele,
I agree with Gail. I saw the same thing last night. There’s an hour of Temptations at 3 pm ET. More new stuff coming.
Tune in!!!
dd -
OMG, DD
I missed the Temptations again!! Ill take a quick look.
Adele -
Gail
I bet I missed everything again!!
Going to look, quick
Adele -
Hey Colleen
I am afraid for Amanda. the airlines said the flights to Florida will happen. But, they just said there are 7 nuclear reactors they are concerned with. I would hate for her to be in harm’s way, with nobody there to help her. She is going to see her friend who is in college down there- in Orlando. I pray she will be safe, as well as all those poor people. I can’t imagine not knowing if you will have a home after a storm. give me a snow/blizzard any day! You can shovel snow, and wait until is melts. there is nothing you can do with a huge amount of rain/tides/water.
Is the cake show a children’s show? if so, I found that one.
I am glad your daughter will be ok, and is nto in any danger.GAil- I missed all the boo fetti stuff. I was not interested in the bowl with the 2 side bowls, or the cheese dish. I would have loved the mugs!! They were adorable. Even the pumpkin/harvest nes are gone.
DD- I love those wreaths! They are gorgeous. You will have such beautiful things to hang and look at for the holidays. Go DD!!!
I am attaching a pic that Joyce took of me and Gary, and me and Nancy. She sent them to me today.
Final show tonight for the final AGt show. I have no idea who will win. thay are all so good.
Have a good night!

Adele, If you had gone to Temptations on QVC before all those items were listed before they sold out. I know because I looked what they had that was new. I think I am the only one but I do not like the boofetti bats & spiders are not attractive to me. I like the ghost cookie jar if it had not had those ugly things on it. Also I would not get my monies worth for something you can only use a short time. I have a pumpkin cookie jar that can be used all fall.
Last night was not the end of AGT just the end of the semi finals. Still have the finals to go.
Gail is right we are not close enough to the coast to get a direct hit from a hurricane but we can get severe flooding & heavy rain& wind. Anyone remember Agnes. No one could go anywhere for some time. They made a road to the bypass to get people out of lumber city. I am worried about this one since we had been having flooding all summer from all the rain, the ground is saturated & cannot hold anymore. We had heavy rain Sat & Sun causing flooding. If anyone saw the Penn State – Pitt game you could see how it was pouring. They played in Pittsburgh but it was the same here if Penn State had been the home team. We are to have rain all week just not all day & night like Sat & Sun.So if we get a lot from this hurricane we are in trouble. There are 71 roads closed some from flooding & some tore up from previous flooding. Big chunks of broken roadway the roads just buckled. Some bridges damaged. And sink holes are opening up. I hope they have time to fix the roads before it snows. -
Hoping to get you all a quick note before this thing decides to erase me….I am having the same problems as you DD. What is with our computers? This thing just frustrates me; especially when I have written you all one of my long winded stories, and off it goes. lol Yes, this has been a few months of us spending time at the doctors office for us all; hasn’t it? I have gotten so tired of all these tests, and them scareing me and planting those little seeds of worry that I am SO easy to do this. I did tell you all that I am not having any procedure done at this time. I talked a long time with Jerry, and told him that I know I am doing everything they have told me to do and I know the good Lord makes all the decisions. I hope your tests come out good Colleen. I know that frustrated you, Gail, when you didn’t really learn anything you probably already knew, when you went to get your ultrasound of your legs. I have been told that it is very painful when your veins hurt in your legs; so I really hope you are not in a lot of pain. Does it hurt when you have to be on your feet a long time? Sorry about your eyes needing more surgery too Colleen. The one good thing I can say for you is that since you have had this done before; at least you know what to expect; so that fear of the unknown is not there. How are your eyes doing Gail? Good I hope. I agree with everyone that your husband is so good to take care of the hard time of putting the little furry ones in their final resting place. We have a special place for ours too, Colleen. It is sad; but it helps us to have so many wonderful memories.
Your little kitty looks so comfy DD. Ours was belly up with all four of his little paws sitting straight up in the air a little while ago. He is so much company for us. I feel like sometimes he has to get bored with us; but he just goes everywhere we go, and is very laid back. He doesn’t like cold weather though.
Adele; I truly believe your daughter will be fine with her flight to Fla. Our son, who knows lots of pilots, assures me that they (pilots and air traffic control) really pay very close attention to weather and work around it; whether its snow or rain storms or fog. He had to go to lots of training just about the weather; so I know it is very important to them. I still pray everytime one of ours flies; but you know that is just the mother, grandmother thing. lol
I had a wonderful birthday. Neal called twice, once with the baby. They also sent a photo album of Colin from birth to now. The very first picture was of the baby, Jerry and Neal standing in the hospital room with Jerry holding him. Joey and Lisa took me out to dinner last night at a steak house. It was so good, and the waitress brought me a piece of birthday cake at the end of the meal. Lisa was friendly and we made pictures with his cell phone. We had a wonderful time. Poor Bud got to call but it was late. He is actually in a pool tournament and is in the finals and had to play that night. But it was so good to talk to him. Even Sarah spoke to me. But true to character one of her first questions was “How old are you?” ha ha Even poor Jerry knew that was not something you should ask. ha ha
Better go for now before I lose this. Praying for you all. One thing I admire most about all of you ladies is how you all put on a brave face; and move forward; even though I know times are hard or painful or both. I respect every one of you so much. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs, Barbara -
Hi Barbara,
Did you ever have the ultrasound on your neck or was that something you decided to forgo also?
I’m glad that you had such a nice birthday. I’ll bet you treasure the album with the pictures of Colin.
Your dinner with Joey and Lisa sounded like a fun night also. Buddy must be a good pool player if he is in a tournament. I forget-do they live in Las Vegas now or just Nevada? How do they like it there? It’s probably not too different weather wise for New Mexico except maybe hotter.
I am lucky in that the veins do not hurt in my case my legs just feel kind of heavy and my feet feel tingly. They say that some people do have soreness and pain from the veins. I think if I had had pain I would have paid attention to them a lot sooner. I guess the symptoms can vary from person to person. I just had my eyes checked and so far so good. I’m hoping the macular degeneration is a very slow progressing case.
I’ll bet Alley Cat does not find you guys boring at all. Cats are pretty low key and seem to enjoy a quiet life with lots of time for napping. lol
You know Barbara, I think it’s a trait of women that we put on a brave face and keep moving forward. We are a strong breed. Women seem to be the backbone of family life. That must be why men seem to be more likely to remarry after they lose their spouse than women do. Just a theory.
Gail -
DD,
Those wreathes are beautiful! You were so lucky to have found them in the “as is” section. They will look wonderful in your holiday home.I can’t believe that you found a picture of a butterfly jacket! I do have some butterfly purses but no jacket. lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I’m glad the procedure won’t take long but it’s just frustrating thinking that you were all done with it and now you have to go back and have something else done. But like you said you will do it because you want to keep your sight. That’s so true with many procedures that we need we do it because we have to but we’d really rather not do it at all.
Do you have to go to your doctor’s office for blood work? I am lucky I can just go to our little hospital right here in town and they do it there and send the results to the doctor.
How do the kids like year round school? Is each break about three weeks then? I wonder what the benefits of doing it that way are. Maybe the kids don’t forget as much stuff as they would over a longer summer vacation. I don’t think there is anyplace around here that does year round school.
I’ll have to look for that Halloween cake show too. I think I’ve seen them do stuff in previous years. They can really make some unusual cakes.
Gail -
Sue,
I can’t believe how much road damage has been done by the rains in your area. That is bad! It would be hard to get that all fixed before winter. I’ll bet you are glad that you are retired and no longer have to go out every day. I hope you have been doing okay with the bad leg. Are you enjoying all the reading that you are able to do now in retirement?
I don’t like real bats and spiders but the ones on the boofetti are kind of cute. I found this cute red pickup truck full of pumpkins cookie jar on Amazon that I ordered this year so it will replace my Fitz and Floyd pig one for the fall season.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I like the pictures from your brunch. Tell Gary he doesn’t look a day older than 69. lol I think we all look different in our minds than we do in a real photo. I am always surprised at how fat I am when i see a picture-I don’t know why it surprises me as i do look in a mirror. I guess in my brain I still look like I did 30 years ago. I really can’t blame Gary for how he feels about his grands and his son. His feelings are probably so deeply hurt by their disregard for him. That is so sad that his son can’t even bother to phone. I put myself in his place and know how hurtful that would be. I think since they don’t acknowledge him it would be easy to stop sending them gifts as I would be so mad at them for hurting him like that. Sometimes we want to be the bigger person and ignore their behavior but in this case I would be so angry on my husband’s behalf that I would do as he asks. Just my two cents.
I don’t have any pain with the occular migraines-occasionally a small headache afterwards but not very often. You will get to the point that you will recognize them coming on. Like I said I’ve had them for quite a few years now and you just kind of get used to them. They don’t come often maybe every few months.
I’m sure Amanda will be fine. Does she have a direct flight? If she has a stop in Atlanta that might be problematic as they are expecting rains from the hurricane. I’m sure if there is a problem they will cancel flights anyway and then she wouldn’t be able to go. I will pray for a safe flight and a lovely visit.
Did you see the set of three glass bowls with lids in the boofetti? I did end up buying that but in the pattern with the leaves on it so I can use them all fall until I switch over to Christmas stuff. I keep wondering where Thanksgiving will be this year as Jenny has had it ever since she got married. Hopefully she will continue to have it to keep things the same for her kids.
I was tired last night after going to the doctor and then babysitting. I skipped through the AGT cuts and then fell asleep on the couch. Greg was tired too from his golf outing as he was really up at the crack of dawn. I wonder if the final of AGT is next week. I have no idea who will win. Usually by this time I have a pretty good feeling of who it might be but this time I have nothing. My powers are fading. lol
So I have to have the procedure where they go in through the ankle with a catheter and go all the way up to the groin and burn the vein all the way from groin to ankle. I have to have it in both legs so this will be fun as I think you have to wear thigh high compression hose. I’m trying to decide if i want to do one leg one day and one the next and get it over with or spread it out over a couple of weeks. I won’t be doing it until after we come back from Branson in October since they said it takes about four weeks to get the insurance approved which would put it right before we leave and I’m not going to fuss with compression hose on vacation so will do it after we get back. Plus it should be cooler by then so the compression stockings maybe won’t feel so damn hot. I’ll be glad when it’s all over and done with. Although after six weeks they do another ultrasound and if this didn’t take care of some of the smaller veins then they have to do another procedure where they inject those veins with a substance that makes them stick together and shut down. Weird stuff! I’m praying that the first one does the whole trick.

Hey Sue!
I realized when I watched last night, that at least 2 more shows will happen. I think they are both scheduled for next week.
The boo fetti in person is way cuter than on TV. I do know what you mean- you either love it, or hate it. I do intend to use the squared off bakers all year long….LOL LOL The cookie jar and ramekins will not be out. But, I could do some puddings, etc, in the ramekins. Who knows! You knwo me, I am all about the pumpkins, leaves, etc. Mine stay out all year long.
Had I not been so involved in the birthday brunch, I wouldn’t have missed those mugs. I will try ebay, as some people re-sell theirs. Who knows, maybe I will be lucky, and be able to get just one.
I am going out to meet my old work buddies, who retired years before me. Nancy will go too. We are all meeting at the Olive Garden. I have not been there in years. I will wear my new Halloween black shirt- with the 2 pockets in front. It is 70 up here, but high humidity. So, I hope the restaurant is not stuffy, as the shirt has long sleeves.
I hope you have all the supplies you need to get through any road closures. I know you are organized, and bet you have plenty of water, just in case. As your house is up higher, I will be praying it stays dry, and no trees fall anywhere near you, or your car. there is only so much the root systems can take, as I ahve painfully learned this past winter.
I hope they do get to fill all the potholes before winter, as they can ruin your tires. Anyone who says Global Warming is a hoax needs to re-evaluate their thoughts. I got two of those new Halloween half sleeve shirts, becasue most of my stuff is way too warm to wear for the past 2 years. I love my older sweatshirts, bit you sweat with high humidity if you dare put them on. Gary told me the other night to just cut all the sleeves off, and sew a new hem to make them short. He is quite the funny guy. What if it gets colder this, or next Fall?
I will be praying for you to stay dry, and safe over the next few days. Has this weather made you sore? the humidity gets right into my back bone. Speaking of that, tomorrow I go see the new shoulder doctor. yuck.
Have a good night!

Barbara, Barbara, Barbara…..you are our role model of the Brave Southern Belle, with tons of grace, and poise in the midst of all catastrophes. I can hear the sweet Southern drawl in the messages you write to all of us, which adds even more comfort to your beautiful words. (like your prayers too)
That was so good to have Joey and Lisa take you all out for a birthday dinner. What a pleasant surprise, and it came with a pice of cake that you didn’t have to make- woohaa!! Soo, I will be 69 in January. My age doesn’t bother me, accept when I see myself in a door as I enter it….LOL Who the Hell is that old woman who got in front of me???? Dam, that girl is old. not me….
Thank you for giving me your son’s perspective on the flight. I am so glad I am going out, so by the time I get home, she will have called. However, a few hours ago, I was told the flight will be delayed an hour. (I am still hoping it gets cancelled….I worry as much as you, and sometimes even more) She is so young to go by herself- it is Amanda the Panda- she is 23. My grand.
That was a nice gift from your son. I bet you look at that photo book every day. I am still saying ne prayer every night that they will come for a visit over the holidays. That would be the best present you ever got.
It is so gloomy here again today. Completely overcast, humid, and gross looking. In the middle of the night, I woke up to thunderstorms. I hope the sun will come out soon. We have been getting showers every once in a while. Seems like rain is all up and down the east coast. Still better than the hurricane down south. I am worried about all those people. I saw this one woman on the news, who said they could nto afford to evacuate, and she has children. that made me sick to my stomach. These storms are brutal.
I hope you don’t get too much rain over the weekend. Did you put any pics on facebook?? I haven’t gone on in a bit, but, I will if you did.
Have a good night.

DD
Love the pic of your kitty.
Dam- did I miss more stuff?? I looked yesterday, and will look again.

Hey Gailster
I do feel the same way, but, I still feel guilty not giving them anything. I think it is because I was divorced, and felt (very painfully) the difference between what my kids got from my x, and what his new kid got. My kids were so terribly hurt, all the time. especially since my x bragged about all his son did.
That procedure doesn’t sound nice at all. I will be praying hard, when you go for it. On the legs together, or separately, this is what I feel. If it is very painful after, and you would have trouble moving aorund, do one at a time, so you have one leg to rely on. If it is not, then get it all done at once, so it is behind you. I agree with waiting until it is cooler.
You both must have been snoring in your chairs last night….LOL LOL
I did see the glass bowls. I did not get those….LOL I want the mug, and am on a quest….LOL
hope you have a good night. Read my other posts to the girls for all other info….please. Going to peek on the Q before I get dressed….

Adele I sure hope your house is still standing. I heard on the news 50 houses exploded from gas leaks.

Hi DD,
The pictures of your wreaths are so cute. You got really got a good deal with those two. I am glad that you got those. It will really cheer up your apartment. They really have some bright colors and very cheerful.
Jewel is such a pretty cat. You are lucky to have him. The cat we have is a monster. He will not let company come into our house. I have never seen a cat act like he does. I always thought that cats were more loving then this one is.Oh well I guess they are all kinds of cats in this world.
Well that is all from here. Hope that you do not keep losing your posts. That is so aggravating.
Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
Have you heard anything back on the vein in your legs? That is one thing that is hard to have to put up with. That is another thing that you have to have done or put up with pain when you walk.No one wants that.
I go to the doctors office for the blood work. They have a lab there and they do it all there. So it is not any farther then the hospital is from us. I just hate to do the fasting ones though. It seems like I am so thirsty when I get there and cannot wait to get a drink. They always take two or three tubes of blood and then tell me that I am anemic. Probably would not be if they did not take so much blood.
They are really taking the long way to the groin. I hope that it goes quickly and does not cause you a lot of pain. Why can’t anything be simple. They have come up with so many ways that laser can help it would be nice if they could come up with some type of laser that could take care of that. They always say that the laser treatments are not as painful. I do not blame you for waiting until after your vacation. You really need to see Brent and see how he is doing.
How has your weather been there? It has been really nice here not too hot but some cool air coming in. It will not last long but is nice while it lasts. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Those are really good pictures of you and Gary. Looks like you are having a good meal. Who all were you with? It looked like it cut on person out of the picture. It is nice that you were out having a good time.
This cake show is not for kids. They make big cakes the size of witches and other characters. They are really cute. I have watched it once before and was really impressed with the size of the cakes and how good they make them. If I tried that mine would fall over. I will keep watching for them to advertise it again and let you know what I can.
I am so glad that Barbara can give you news about the pilots and that they will not fly if the weather is bad. It is nice to have someone on here that knows all of that stuff. I am glad that she is here to share all of her knowledge with us. My niece lived in Florida and She said that there are some parts of Florida that does not get hit by hurricanes. They will have heavy rain and things like that but not the damage or the problems that other parts of the state will have.
I like the boofetti things that you have shown us. The spiders and webs are all part of Halloween. It is not jack o lanterns and happy things. Most of the kids like the scary things and go to the houses that have that.
I am so glad that you do not have to worry about the hurricane. The rain is not bad but the storms could stop at any time. It seems like that is all that is on the news is the hurricane coming. Did not hear anything tonight if it hit anywhere or not. I wish that it would just go back out to the ocean and leave everyone alone. We will just have to keep praying for those poor people.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am glad that you had such a good birthday. If I did not wish you an Happy Birthday I am doing it now. I am not sure that they are posting all of the birthdays now. I do not know what is going on with this site.
That is so nice that you can help us out with some of our questions. Especially Adele. She is so worried about Amanda going to Florida and you let her know that she need not worry that much. It is nice to know that the pilots have so much control. Now if they could figure out how to fly a plane without getting that high off the ground that would be great. lol
That is funny that Sarah asked how old you are. You have to come up with a good come back for that one. I have no problem letting them know my age because there is no way I am going to get younger. I have enough grey hair that I cannot hide how old I am anymore. It is just a state of mind that is what they say. I guess it depends on how you look at it and whose mind it is.lol
Did they decide to do something to your neck? I have not read anything about it but I may have missed it. I am still praying that they did not find anything. This getting old is not any fun.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. I hope & pray no one is in the path of that hurricane. I know it’s a cat1 or tropical storm by now. I’ve seen some of those pics coming out of NC & SC & it’s mind boggling how much water there is. We could use some but not that much.
We did get a few thunder storms Wed. Downpours like you wouldn’t believe!!! At least it cleaned the air & the smoke is looooong gone now.!!! YAY! I don’t think the weather guys were expecting anything like what came thru. We went from AC to turning the heat on almost overnight here. It’s been really chilly at night.I had a scare with Jewell yesterday. I noticed she’d sit in her litter box for long periods of time. I called the vet & made an appt. to take her in. Diane took us to the vet. Turns out she could have a UTI like we get. They gave her fluids & an antibiotic shot. They sure do love her!! The first thing the girl called her was ‘precious’. I told her that’s what I call her all the time. I knew she wasn’t feeling well when I went to put her in the carrier she meows & meows constantly. Not yesterday. She was quiet. NOt until we got to the vet did she start meowing. she did not want to be there. Of course!! She’s better today. Kinda clingy wanting to be close to me, laying on my lap or leg.
I’m glad you saw the time for the Halloween show, Sue. I saw it briefly when I was over at Kay’s but I just caught the end of it. Kay watches all those cooking shows, but I don’t know why, she doesn’t cook. lol Anthony Bourdain’s last shows will begin Sept. 23rd. on CNN.
I’m sorry I missed your birthday, Barbara. Happy Belated Birthday.
Colleen, are you sure you have a domestic cat? Sounds like a wild cat.
Well, I better get off here before I lose all of it.
Take care, stay safe & have a great weekend.
dd & Jewell -
Hello Ladies. I just saw my first piece of Boofetti. It was a cookie jar, but sold out. I have been looking for them; but in all this time didn’t find any until last night. I loved the pattern. I have some pieces in the pumpkins and leaves too Gail. I keep mine out all year lol You all know how much Jerry loves his trees and the changing of the leaves; so I knew he wouldn’t complain about more Q boxes with those patterns; and I really love them too. It just seems to make things taste good, and it is so pretty. It’s like Quaker for baking/kitchen. ha ha
Has your grand flown to Fla. yet Adele? Like Colleen said, the airlines will cancel flights before they would endanger passengers. I hope and pray she has a good flight there and back home, and really enjoys her visit with her friends. When we are young we do things like this and don’t give it a thought, and leave all the worries to us. And I seem to have a Phd. in Worry about Everything. You said such sweet things about me; but trust me; I don’t deserve any special words. I do feel that a lot of time when I am talking to someone if they could only see what is going on in my head at that very moment they would fall out. ha ha But thank you all for the kind words; I surely hope I can help someone everyday of my life, if by nothing more than being a good, faithful friend.
When do you have to have the procedure on your eyes Colleen? I was just telling Jerry that when I take my glasses off that I can’t read a thing. We both have to go get our eyes checked and glasses changed. I will be glad when it is done. I think that it is a good decision to wait until after you visit with Brent to have the vein procedures Gail. I haven’t heard of this type of procedure, but there is so much done now I can hardly keep up. I pray that it takes care of everything the first time and you can put it all behind you. My SIL had a procedure on her legs of injecting saline into the veins for varicose veins and the dr. anesthestized the leg and I guess filled up the veins with salt water and something else and she did really good. Her veins were painful, and she said it really relieved her. She is a tiny little thing, but had really big jagged bulging veins in her legs. So I pray yours will go well too. Do you know what the procedure is called?
DD I am so happy that your kitty is feeling better. He was definitely telling you something wasn’t right. There must be a certain smell in the Vets office that the little animals recognize; because all of ours do the same thing. They like our vet; just not his office. The staff there sounds so sweet to talk to your little kitty so gently. THey must love animals. You can really tell when they don’t just like you can tell when we go to the doctor.
Colleen, I had the neck ultrasounds done (did I tell you all that I have asked my doctor for FOUR years did he think I might need to go and have one done just to make sure everything was good, and he always said no) anyway, the tests showed the same results as the ones done two months after my stroke 4 years ago. There is a ‘slight” spot on the vessel they went into to remove the clot in my brain that has been there and the doctors told all my family when I was in the hospital they left it because everything was okay as far as blood flow in that vessel. Long story short, MY doctor recommended by having his nurse call me that I go see a vascular surgeon, and Jerry and I talked, weighed our options and decided to go in six months for another ultrasound, and that is exactly what I told the nurse to tell my doctor. I said if he wanted to talk to me to call me. So far; nothing. I know my health is like the toss of dice, and I pray everyday to have the sense to make the right decisions. and fully intend to live each and every day to the fullest. So pray for me that I made the right decision, but I am following my head and my heart. I may just be a stubborn hardheaded old nurse, who like the old mules down South here; just get “put out to pasture” when they reach a certain age. Probably WAY more info than you wanted, but thank you for asking.
With that; I will close for now. Sue, I am looking for my pumpkin cookie packages So far; they haven’t come in. Boy, are they tasty. I love the Halloween baking show on the Food Network. Those cakes are unbelieveable. So thanks for reminding us. What books are you reading now? I have been reading a book named Of Mess and Moxie, not sure what the rest of the title is. Just started it. So far; I like it.
Better go and find something to call dinner. TOnight; it may just be cereal. Not is the real cooking mood; but grilled chesse and tomato soup sounds pretty good now that I think of it. ha ha Have a great weekend, girls. Hugs from Tn and prayers for all; including those going through those terrible storms. Barbara -
Hi DD,
That must have really scared you when Jewel was acting so funny. I am glad that you could get to the vet and have her taking care of. I hope that this takes care of it and she does not have another attack. You are probably right about this cat. It is not ours so do not know that much about it. When the kids move out the cat goes with them. I am not close to that cat at all. That is nice that the people at the vets office are so good to Jewel. It makes it easier on her when she is in there.
I love all the pictures of the fall colors. The trees by the water look really pretty. I like it when all the leaves change colors in the fall. They look so pretty but am not sure that we will have pretty colors like that this year.
I hope that you can just sit and hold Jewel for awhile today. She needs a lot of love today. She had such a rough time.
well that is about all form here. Have a great night.
COlleen -
Hi Barbara,
I am like you. I had never seen the boofetti either. I am glad that Adele posted a picture of it. It is so cute. I like the dishes with the pumpkins on them also.
Temptations have such cute dishes and really make it look so festive.
I go back to the eye doctor in six months and then we will see about it then. I am not real excited to have it done but like I have said before it is better then losing my sight. We do not have choices like we use to have when we were younger.
Barbara sometimes it is better to let things alone. If that has not changed in 4 years it does not sound bad. It is hard to know when we make the right decisions or not. All we can do is pray and hope that God will help us do the right thing. Waiting for another six months sounds like a really good idea. You know what to look out for and go to the doctor if you think that you have a problem. We sometimes are better judges of what needs to be done then any one else. I will be praying for you and that everything stays the same.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Barbara, Keep looking for the pumpkin spice cookie mix. They just come out, my store was stocked. They had them in two places, with the other cookies & on the end of an aisle. So they had lots but knowing how they fly off the shelves they may be gone by next weekend. I got a couple of packages. I requested that my store carry them year round as I know they would sell. I hope your store gets them in. Keep checking as this is the time of year for them.

Hey Sue
We are fine.Sorry I didn’t post sooner.
We had no electricity for hours yesterday- nto related to the gas disaster. So, I had to cancel the doctor appointment too.
I have been trying to purge the decorations, and I am so tired. All I have left to do, is get out (and purge) the rest of the Dept 56 houses for the dining room table.
Hope you are ok!
Adele -
Hi Colleen
Please read the post to Sue for the details. We are all fine here- it is about a half hour further north where the explosions were. We have no gas on the entire street, so we are ok.
Amanda’s plane was delayed by 2 hours. She said the flight was a little bumpy, but she was ok, and not scared. I kept on the phone with her until she found her way to the gate to get out. She had no idea where to go after she got off the plane. Apparently, you have to take a train to the gate to leave the airport. She comes home either Sunday or Monday. I will be glad when she is back, all safe and sound.
I am pooped, so I will not post much. I will try to read the rest, to see if I missed anything.
Have a good night!

Forgot to say, the ther people are Joanne and Al, Steph, Jhonny, and Aizen, on my side of the table. the other side was Ron and Joyce, Heather, Marissa, and JJ and his friend.
Adele -
OMG! Thank you Sue!
I will talk to my remote to record it, so I don’t miss it.
I ahve still nto found anything to watch in the afternoon, since The Chew is gone.
Adele -
OMG, DD!
I hope by today that Jewell is back to her old self. The poor kitty. Once she had one does that mean she could be susceptible to another one? I hope not. It is awfully scary when our loved ones get sick. Furry and human!
Hope you are ok.
Adele -
Hey Barbara
You deserve those kind words, just like the rest of us do. …….we all have those thoughts as we talk to people…..LOL Especially if they are mean to us.
Amanda was delayed 2 hours, ut got there ok. She was confused as to where to go after she got off the plane, but, I had just called to see if she was ok, and I stayed on with her until she got the right directions of where to go.
We all safe, but we had no electricity yesterday, just as I was to get into the shower for my doctor appointment. Had to cancel. They Were doing some repair work, and said they had told everyone about it, and did not. All the neighbors were up in arms, as nobody expected that. One of my neighbors called the public utility commission to complain….LOL
I ahve been decorating, and purging. I have a entire table filled for the girls to choose from.
Al, Winnie’s husband, came to visit for a while today. I invited him and Joanne for dinner on Wed night- making American Chop Suey, rolls, salad, and an Apple Crisp. I hope they come out good, and said it to Al. Al said….we can always order pizza….LOL
I hope you are ok, and are not getting blasted with rain from the store.
We ordered out the last 2 days- no electricity yesterday, and I was too tired today….LOL
Adele -
Barbara and Colleen
All my Figural HArvest and pumpkin dishes are out all year….LOL
Adele -
Hi DD
I am so glad Jewell is better. I was worried about her. You know what a worry wart I am!
I am dying to see the Falloween show. It is my favorite one.
Love your pics, all of them- the Fall and pics of pretty kitty.
Adele -
Sue and everyone
Bobby said he found the cinnamon ice cream in the supermarket. I had it once years ago in a restaurant, with the Apple Crisp, and it was the best thing I ever tasted. Hope you all can find some. I put it on the list for tomorrow’s shopping.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
Here is the information on the shows. They have two different Halloween baking shows. One is called Halloween Baking Championship it comes on the 24th of this month. The other one is Halloween Wars and it starts on the 30th of this month and they are both on the food channel. They both start at 9pm your time I think our time 8pm. I hope that you can find them and will be able to watch them. They look like they might be a lot of fun to watch. Some of the cakes that they have made are really something. I do not know how they can do that. Hope that we can both watch those shows.
What was the gas incident. I have not heard a thing about it. I am so glad that it did not effect you. Why did your electric go out? Did you have a lot of storms that knocked the electric out? I do not like it when the electric goes out. You cannot do much of anything. What really makes it hard the only things that I can think of to do needs electric. I am glad that it is all over for you.
I am glad that Amanda made it to Florida safely. Now you can stop worrying she will have a good time and then she will come home. They took good care of her and did not go up until it was safe. It is really nice that she got to go.
We went to the church auction today and had a good time. They have one trailer there that is all brand new things that stores have donated. So I got a few Christmas presents. I got a porcelain doll for Kaylee and it plays music I had never seen one that plays music. So that will be fun for her. We got a bunch of baseball cards that a store donated and they actually had some good cards in there. Hopefully the kids will love having the cards. Maybe we will give them something to do besides playing on their electronic games.
Now Al is my kind of guy. lol Right away he is ready to go get pizza if dinner does not turn out right. Ron would be asking what else we have to fix. I cannot picture you dinner not being good. You are such a good cook and baker.
If I had those dishes they would be out all the time also. they are really pretty. I have never bought any and now I wish that I had. I never turn qvc on in time to catch Temptations.I usually catch it as it is going off. By then most of the good things are gone.
That is nice that all of them were there. Was that for Gary’s and JJ’s birthday. It looked like you were having a good time. I am so glad that all of you got to go.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen
p.s. How is your shoulder? I hope that it is feeling better. -
Hi DD,
That is good news that Jewel is doing better. It is hard when our babies are sick like that.No matter if they are fur babies or human babies. Jewel is such a pretty cat. I am glad that you have her to keep you company. She looks like a different cat when she has her hair cut.
Thank you for reminding us of the quacker show. I will set it up on my dvr. I really do not want to miss it. The Halloween show is so much fun. Not much else is going on here. Have a great day.
Colleen -
Hi Colleen
Thanks for the info. Now, I have both shows set to record, so I will not miss them.
The electricity went out becase they were fixing the lines in the street. We had them on our street a good part of the summer of 2017. We all thought all the work was completed, and I guess it was not. No storm was involved this time.
The gas incident was 3 towns about 45 minutes from us had gas explosions- 70 houses went up, allover the 3 towns that were served by a gas company out of Ohio. Google it- a scary thing. One teenager was killed. he wa sin a driveway, in the driver’s seat of his car (just got his license that day) with 2 friends inside too, and the chimney of the house fell on the car, when the house exploded and was moved off it’s foundation. About 30 other people were injured in the incident, but, none others died.
It was a joint party, for Gary and JJ.
That is great that you got such nice presents at the fair. Go Colleen!
Hope you have a nice day.
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I am just glad that I found them so I could give you the information. They have been advertising them a lot here lately. I have been having to tape the Micheal Symon shows because they are showing them so late at night. I hope that he is not going off the air. I really like that show.
I am glad that the reason that your electric was off was not because of a storm. It is good that it is on again. That is terrible about that explosion. That poor boy that got killed. That is terrible. I cannot imagine that happening in so many towns and damaging so many houses. Do they know what happened? I really hope that they find out and do something about it and not let it happen again. I am so glad that it did not happen any where near your home and your family.
Sounds like you had a good time at your dinner. It was a nice party for all. From the look on everyones face they were having a nice time. I wish they could have gotten a shot of the whole family on there. That would be a good picture for you to keep.
Not a whole lot going on here. We just kind of laid around today. We were exhausted from that auction.lol They made twelve hundred dollars for the church from that auction. That is really good. They do a lot of charitable work with that money. They have helped a lot of people. We try to go every year and buy something.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

Hi Colleen
I have been working on the Dept 56 village for Halloween I do on the dining room table. I ahve to get a few more boxes out of my bedroom closet, and then I will be done. I have put some away for Heather, as she wants to do display too. I picked out some that do not have the scary sounds, so Aizen won’t get scared….LOL I put all mine out, and hope he will still come over….LOL Ill take a pic when it is done.
That is great the church made so much money.
They are saying there was too much pressure in a gas line. They think a crew that were working on an old line may have done it. They said it will be a long time until it is all figured out.
the people were allowed back in their home (if they had one) Sunday, and were told if any smell of gas is there, get out immediately. The gas company will be putting the gas on each house, one at a time. the electricity also has to go back on. It has been a huge disaster for those 3 communities. imagine- 70 houses either blew up, or burned. A lot of people lost their entire houses.
We are getting the remnants of the hurricane tomorrow. Supposed to have a lot of rain, and possible flooding. We will be fine, as we never flood in this area. Marissa and Enzo came over yesterday to put the pool cover on. We paid them with Chinese food….LOL LOL
Hope you are good!
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I cannot wait to see your village. I bet it is really cute. That is nice that you are sharing with Heather. That will look really cute at her house. Do they get a lot of trick or treators at her place? We may go to the church and give out candy this year. If Ruth goes then we will go and stand there for awhile. It will be the only way that we will see the kids out in costume. Unless we go to Danyielle’s she will have the kids dressed really cute.
You would think that the gas company would have been watching for that pressure in the gas lines. That was a lot of homes to be destroyed. That is really scary.
I hope that the storm is not really bad when it comes your way. They say it will effect our weather also. We are supposed to have rain at the end of the week. It will be nothing like you all are getting it will be a lot lighter then that. We will be glad to get the rain though.
That is so nice that Marissa and Enzo came over and took care of the pool. You really have good kids you must have been a really good grandma and mom. Your kids reflect that in the way they act.
I think that Aliza is coming here this week. I will be glad to see her. We have not seen her in awhile and cannot wait to see her. We were talking on the phone today and I asked my daughter if Aliza would talk to me and you could tell that she was really excited but she thought I was grand pa and when she found out that it wasn’t him she wouldn’t talk. This is getting really ridiculous. When she sees me she will run up to me but as soon as Ron shows up she will run to him.
It is nice to be able to feed them instead of having to pay them.lol That is all they will take when they do something for us. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
COlleen -
OMG, Colleen!
We just had a tornado watch. I nearly had a heart attack. You all know how freaked I get at those. Gary kept telling me to calm down. Heather and Steph have no electricity. We are ok.
The warning is over for now, but the awful storms will continue until 3 today. It rained so hard, you couldn’t see outside.
That Aiza is too funny. The little girls love their Papa’s!
Attaching pics now, as it is thundering again.
Adele -
Hi Everyone,
DD I’m glad Jewell is feeling better. We always worry when our pets are not feeling well as they are such an integral part of our family.
Barbara, the procedure is called the Closurefast Procedure-I think it is the newest thing-more progressive than using lasers as they say you just get up and drive yourself home afterwards and some people even return to work for the rest of their day.
Colleen, that church auction always sounds like fun and you always find something interesting to bid on. Is that the place where you used to make the big order of potato salad for?
Adele, I hope the storms are passed over. We had a lot of rain here today but thank goodness no tornado warnings. Do you know the difference between a watch and a warning? A watch is when conditions are just right to spawn a tornado but none have been sighted so you are pretty safe with that one unless it turns into a warning and that is when one has been sighted and you need to take cover until you get an all clear. We always go in the basement to the music room as that has no windows but I don’t think you have a basement so you would have to go into an interior room preferably one with no windows-or into a bathroom. I hope that you don’t get anymore.
I love love love your houses! You really have quite a collection. Everything looks awesome. They are cute-not scary.
Gail -
Hey Gailster
Well, I nearly had a heart attack. We had “straight line winds”, per the investigative weather people, who came to Saugus today to inspect the damage. After the warning was over, I took my blood pressure, and with my meds for high blood pressue, it was 158/82, with a heart rate of 95….LOL LOL You all know how spooked I get from tornado’s. We do not have a basement, whihc makes my anxiety go through the roof. i didn’t shower today until 3:00pm, when all the alerts and storms were over. I am a total woos when it comes to tornado’s.
I can get Gary through a heart attack, neck break, kidney failure, and anything else you throw at me….including Heather’s overdose, where they had to revive her 3 times. I am the rock of this family, until you mention the word tornado. I am rendered completely useless. Totally incompetent, and as crazy as a loon. It wasn’t pretty…..LOL LOL
So, at the end of day THE HUSBAND says to me….what is wrong with you today, you are all out of sorts. Seriously? THE WORD was mentioned. Not just mentioned, we came dangerously close to having one. It did nto help that all devices were beeping, from warnings….get to a low location…..get into your basement…..don’t have one!! Between the Weather bug on the laptop, and the Verizon warnings, I was pretty amusing to watch. It would have made a great segment for The Goldberg’s.
So, I ate chocolate today, and had an ice cream. Also ordered some Halloween chocolate from a place called See’s Candies. A whole crap load of candy, that should keep me calm until the next warning.
I sincerely hope none of you had any damage from the hurricane. I am shocked that the storms were that strong, travelling over land to get to us. Wow, is all I can say. I should be ashamed of myself, as look at what the poor people in the Carolina’s have to deal with. I could never live in the South. i may have to move further up to Alaska. Possibly the North Pole. No tornado up there. Just good old fashioned snow storms. Love my snow storms!
Hope I made all of you chuckle. We are having Al and Joanne to dinner tomorrow. Menu is American Chop Suey, salad, and an Apple Crisp. I may make it in one of the Boo Fetti dishes.
Have a good night, and don’t forget AGt!
Adele -
PS….my black metal witches between the window in the kitchen look like they are sweating, from all the rain and humidity….LOL
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I freak out when there is a tornado warning. We do not have a basement but Ruth and Joe always call us to come down to their house. Sometimes we do and then sometimes we don’t. It depends on how bad it looks outside. I am glad that you have calmed down now and you had plenty of chocolate to eat. That is the best thing for panic. lol I am just glad that you did not have any damage or had to go without electric. I hope that all the kids are okay.
I love your pictures. You really are good at decorating. They are all so cute. You have a lot of decorations. I bet the kids love to come and see your stuff and be scared. It must be fun to do all the decorating.
That is nice that you are going to have Al and Joanne over for dinner. You and Gary will enjoy having them over. We have not had anyone over for awhile . Well with all the people we have here it is hard to find room for company.
They will have a lot of help in Carolina that is for sure. They have a lot of our people from the electric there and other volunteers. I hope that there is not a large number of deaths. That always scares me. Home and possessions can be replaced. The only thing that can’t is pictures. That would be one of the first things that I would grab when I leave the house. I have a sil who has had two house burn down. She lost everything.
It must be too hot in the kitchen for those poor witches.lol That is funny.
Well that is all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
It is the same auction that I use to make all the potato salad for. I am glad that I did not have to make it again this year. I said that they made 12 hundred dollars but it was 12 thousand. They sold the quilts for $900.00 a piece. I cannot believe how much they get for their quilts. As usual the jellies and all the baked goods sold for a lot of money,Ruth ended up buying a loaf of zucchini bread for $40.00. She was really surprised. They have one auctioneer that he talked so fast that you could not understand what he was saying.
How are the kids doing? How is Brent doing? I hope that he is doing a lot better. This has just been a bad year again for illness it has to stop soon. I keep thinking that next year will be the year that we will all have a good year. I guess when we wake up in the morning and we still have our loved ones around whether it be human or our fur babies we are doing well.
That is about all from here. It has been boring around here for the last couple of weeks. I keep getting this stupid cold. I just about get over it and then I get it back again. I will be glad when it cools down enough that we can open the windows and air this place out. We just keep passing this stuff around.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Well I’m glad that your tornado is over and I hope that you don’t have another. Right now we are over run with mosquitoes. Anyone else having mosquito problems? Usually they are worse in the heat and humidity of the summer. Jenny is really freaked by tornado warnings too and has gone to a hypnotist to try and get over it as she is afraid of panicking the kids.
You know Adele, sometimes the husbands just don’t seem to pay attention to what our feelings might be. I think it’s a man thing. Greg has yet to ask me about my visit with the vein doctor last week. That same day he and his buddies were golfing at this fancy place and that was foremost on his mind that day so he just seems to have forgotten what I was doing. He has yet to ask about it-so I am just waiting to see if he ever does before I finally break down and tell him. I know it shouldn’t but these things really hurt my feelings as sometimes it makes me feel like I come last on the list of priorities.
Speaking of tornadoes the other week Piper was telling us that one day they had three drills. A tornado drill, a fire drill and an “intruder” drill. How sad is it to live in a world where the last one is necessary. And she is so innocent that she really doesn’t understand what that is all about. It makes you want to cry.
How was Amanda’s trip. I hope she had a good visit and an uneventful flight.
Usually by the end of AGT I pretty well can predict who will win but this year I am really stumped. I just can’t predict what the voters might do. I kind of hope that this year it’s not a singer but something more unusual like the dance troupe or the magician. Something a little different for a change. Surprise me, America!
I was kind of disappointed in the Falloween show today. They were pretty light on the new stuff and pretty soon they will switch over to Christmas stuff. I am kind of getting irritated with them as this last pair of corduroy pants was 29 inches in the short inseam. That sure doesn’t seem like a short to me. I think in Denim and Co that is probably a regular inseam. So no more long Dream Jeannes for me-just capris and pedal pushers and shorts. I felt sorry for Antonella as she seemed to be suffering in the heat.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I hope that you can finally get rid of that cold. We don’t want it to turn into something more serious.
The church made a lot of money with their auction. Good for them. I’ll bet those hand made quilts are worth every penny of that 900 dollars. I love quilts!
I’m glad you did not have to worry about making the potato salad and could just go and enjoy yourself.
Did you say Aliza was coming out this week? That will be fun for you-especially for Ron. I wonder why she is so crazy about him. That is so cute and I’ll bet it just melts his heart. Greg always loves when he gets hugs from Lachlan and Piper. We never get any from Kendall-even her mother doesn’t. She is not a hugger and one has to respect that as everyone is different and the worse thing is to force a kid to hug or kiss someone when they don’t want to. They will remember that forever.
We are having rain again-right now the farmers like it to be dry so they can start harvesting. It’s mosquito city outside right now. Pretty unusual for this time of year. Did you see the Falloween show today? It looked like it was hot there in Pennsylvania and Antonella was uncomfortable. Patrick looked cute as the Tin Woodsman. I wonder how hard it was to get that sliver makeup off.

Gail, You may want to try a pair of the ankle leg DJs. Their length is 25 1/2 in. I know I ordered a pair & bought the regular at 28 in. because I hate what we called high water pants. They are complaining on the Q board about 29 being short. I thought the short I bought was around 28 in. I don’t remember how tall you are. I am 5’5″ & the short fit me fine. I did not think it was that hot in PA today but this was the 1st day we had sunshine all day even the weatherman was excited. We got up to 81 here. But QF was on in the morning so it would have been cooler. She must have been use to all the cold weather we have had, we had days that only got up to 55 so now she was hot.
I hope a comedian or magician win. Even the guy that plays the violin is good. I could not choose as all are very good. Just hope it is not the kid that thinks she is Janis Joplin. She just rubs me the wrong way. I will be happy with anyone else.
My problem with QF now is their high prices, I know QVC sets the prices but $50 for a t shirt is to much. That is even more than DJs in some cases. Also I would love the bicycle shirt but it is too cold in winter for a 3/4 sleeve tee. Like Angel said it is fine when cooking but then if dinner is over & you sit down you have to put on something warmer.
I would say 900 for a handmade quilt is cheap. Around here they are over 1000. They take a lot of work. If you never made one you can not imagine how much work. My Grandma, Mom & Aunt all made quilts. I tried it but just did not like it & hated wearing a thimble. My mom said she would rather quilt than eat. Funny thing is none of them ever made one for me. My Aunt made for all my cousins. I ask her about making one for me but she would only do it if I cut out all the pieces & sew them together then she would quilt it & at that time I was working full time & taking care of mom & dad & just did not have time. Now they are all gone. I do not know what even happened to moms frames. -
Hi Colleen
I just finished cleaning up the kitchen. GAyr is in the shower, and when he gets out, we will watch AGT.
Dinner went well, and I sent them home with a container of the American Chop Suey, for each of them. i did the Apple Crisp in the 3 qt Boo Fetti baker, and it came out better than it did in a pie plate. the sides a little higher, and that made all the difference- no leakage.
The kids got the electricity back in a couple of hours. they called it a “Micro Burst” on the news last night, per the investigation by the weather people. I couldn’t believe how black it was outside, and the rain was so hard you couldn’t see out the windows. I hope that does not happen again.
That is awful that your SIL lost everything. I say the same thing- everything can be replaced accept pictures. Especially the old pics, of those who have long gone. It is a terrible shame. I feel so awful about all those poor people in the Carolina’s.
thank you for the kind compliments on the decorating. I do love to do it. I think the witches were screaming…..let me in, let me in….LOL LOL
I hope you had a good day, and will enjoy the show tonight.
Adele
Going to the doctor tomorrow- the new shoulder dr., and getting the 1st gel shot in the knee. -
Hey Gail!
I feel the same way- 29 for short? I will have to hem them. I Love that fabric, as it doesn’t cling to my legs wen they swell ….at all! Tillie got 2 pairs, but, she is taller than I am, and the short fits her fine. She is 5 inches taller then me. Seriously??
I was not as excited about the show either. the other years were a more entertaining.
We had a huge issue with mosquitoes this year. i think it is the humidity and heat. We never got bit here in prior years.
Please read my post to Colleen for other news of the day…GAry is done with the shower, so we will start watching AGT.
I don’t blame you with Greg. I would be just as hurt. They get so involved in their work, etc, that they actually forget what we do sometimes. Soooo, don’t ask how his golf game went….LOL Pretend you had no idea he was out, and thought he was in the bathroom, with belly issues all that time….LOL LOL you could add….I thought I heard “gas noises, you know, like the ones you do all the time.” LOL LOL
I think when you are worried, you get more hurt when someone doesn’t remember where you were. All these bone and vein issues are making us crazy with worry. Everytime we turn aorund, there is another joint/issue involved. For all of us Quackers. All we can do is keep pryaing for each other.
Love ya, GAilster!
Adele -
Gail
I forgot to say. i hate, hate hate, that the kids have to do safety intruder drills. It scares us all to death that one of their school could be a target.
I want armed guards at every school. I they can protect people’s money at a bank why not our kids?
Adele -
Hu Sue!
Glad to hear from you,and that you are ok, and had no damage from the storms.
I am only 5 ft 2 in. So, the crops fit me perfect….LOL
Do you have one of the quilts? If you do,please post a picture. We would all love to see one. I bet they are gorgeous!😊
I hope we hear from DD soon. I get worried when we do not. You Know me, a worry wart.Gail
Forgot to say that Amanda had a good time. So she tells me this….”I only saw 4 lizards”. I believe she was trying to spare my nerves by not saying the word…….alligators! they are right up there with the tornados.Adele
-
HI Gail,
It always surprises me when they sell for that much when the auction is in a small town like that. Some people come from St. Louis to bid on them. They have family that go to that church. That is the reason that they come down. Next month they have the Oktoberfest and they have the chicken and dumpling dinner. Aliza and Owen are supposed to go with us. That will be fun. I wish that I could have them for the Oktoberfest also. They would really enjoy that one. The sad thing is Ruth only got one loaf of the zucchini bread. That is why she was so shocked. That one auctioneer you cannot understand what he is saying and you end up paying more then you think that you are.
Owen went thru a time when he did not like to hug us but then Ethan always does so now Owen does also. He does not want Ethan to out do him. These kids are funny.
It was raining here today also. I have not noticed that many mosquitos around here. We have not been having that much rain. I thought that they were drawn to water. If you have had a lot of rain they will really come around.
I have not seen the Falloween show yet. I have it recorded it and will watch it after I get off of here. THey have not had as many new things this fall. It is really disappointing. Maybe they will come out with a few more things before October. If not it will not be worth buying. Might as well wait until next year.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Your dinner sounds like a hit. That is nice that you sent some home with both of them. They will not have to cook for another night. The apple crisp sounds really good. I have never tried to bake it in anything other then a pie pan. I will have to try and fix one in a dish other then a pie pan.
I am glad that the kids did not have to go without electric for very long. I had never heard of a micro burst before. That really sounds like it was hard on a lot of people. it is hard when the electric is off. You really cannot do much of anything when it goes out.
i hope that this new shoulder doctor will do you a lot of good. Are you still having a lot of pain? That is terrible when it is in your shoulder or arm. You have to use them a lot.
That is really sad that you have left those poor witches out in the heat and the rain. I hope that they do not run off and go to another house that will let them in. The reason that I say that is my friend that lives by us had a Santa that she put outside of her house. He is wooden and she had gone away for a few days. So we were watching her house and one day I went down there and taped a note on her door from here Santa. Telling her that he had left home because he was lonely. He did apologize but did not tell her where he went. It was funny it took her a day to figure out that it was her Santa that was sitting outside her house. When she did she knew right where to look. We had a good laugh about that for awhile. So now she is going to kidnap it from my house and will do the same to me. She keeps telling me I will never know when he is going to disappear.
I hope that you got a good laugh out of that story and it did not put you to sleep. Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
I’m okay. I haven’t read all the posts so if I leave something out I’ll get back to it later. I agree about the Dream Jeannes. I got regular length at first, but they are 2-4 inches too long. Being the lazy slob that I am, I just cuff em instead of hemming em up. the next time I got a pair I ordered the short & they fit a whole lot better. In the rear, the length, everything. And I’m 5′ 7″ tall. Apparently, they make em long in all sizes. I missed Falloween, but from the sounds of it I didn’t miss much. Apparently they were in costumes & Antonella wasn’t doing too well. Poor Antonella. She’s so funny, I love her.
I noticed they’ve raised their prices on things, QF. They’re getting to be too expensive for me.
Did you guys see the new TSV today? The shoes? I’d love to get 3 pairs of them. I’ve never had a pair of Alegria shoes before, but they do look comfortable. I love the blue, the pretty prints, the bronze & black pair, & the multi color print. I’m not good on the names, sorry.
Adele, you gotta move out here. Yes I complain a lot, but we don’t have the tornadoes like you guys have. If or when we do they’re an f1 or f2 at the worst. And localized to a small area. They might take out a shed or something, but that’s about it. They’re so few and far between, I could count the # we’ve had on one hand & have fingers left over.
Here’s a news flash, the mt tops on Mt. Hood & Mt. Saint Helen’s got a dusting of snow earlier this week. That’s like 10K feet tho. It could be a warning of what’s coming this winter tho. Mother Nature is unpredictable. Ya don’t fool with mother mature!!!
Jewells doing fine. Gets me up at the crack of dawn, sits on my chest & meows in my face till I get up. She’s not spoiled or anything, lol
Well, I better get off here before I lose it.Take care.
dd & Jewell

Hi DD,
Glad to hear from you. That’s interesting that you are 5’7″ and the short fit you. I figured short would be 5’2″ and under. So if they fit you of course they aren’t going to fit me as now I am 5′ 1″. I shrunk.
That’s interesting that there was some snow in the mountain tops. There are no mountains where I live but soon the trees will start to turn. The sunflowers in our garden are all drooping now and pretty soon they will fall over and the birds will feast on the seeds. It’s always sad to see the garden wind down for the year-that’s why I like the new life that spring brings. Winter is long and dark.
Gail -
Hi Colleen
Whenever you talk about the chicken and dumpling dinner it always sounds so good. What will they do at Octoberfest. I always associate it with beer drinking. But I’m not sure if there will beer if it is a church event.
That was a funny story about the Santa. Colleen the Santa kidnapper-watch out kids. No wonder you have such a big Santa collection if you pilfer them from your neighbors. lol
I think we are going in tomorrow to visit our friend who had the back surgery. He is doing really well. Thank goodness.
Gail -
Hi Sue,
Yes those ankle pants in the short do work for me-they are the only Quacker long pants that do anymore. The crop pants are a little too short to be long pants on me-they do look like high waters. lol I am stubborn and refuse to buy pants that have to have the length altered so I have gone back to the Denim and co. 2 pocket pants-I think their petite is 27 inches which is good for me. I think all these designers think that everyone wears heels with pants and that is just not true-I’ll bet not one of us wears heels anymore-and even if I did I never wore them with jeans.
You know it’s not just Quacker that is getting more expensive. Prices have risen all across the board at the Q and I suppose they have risen in stores too-but it has been so long since I shopped in stores for clothes I wouldn’t notice it there as much since i don’t have the years of comparison.
You know I didn’t like that girl that sang like Janis Joplin either. I’m with you-there was just something odd about her. It just seemed very odd that someone could be so shy and then all of a sudden break out and jump around like she did. I think there’s more to the story. I do know that she came in second on some other talent show in the UK.
You know I must have really short arms as the 3/4 sleeve shirts come practically to my wrists so they are almost long sleeves on me.
I’m sorry that you never got a quilt. That is a shame. I believe you live in or close to Amish country so I’ll bet there are gorgeous quilts in your area.
Whenever I think of quilts it reminds me of one time we were at my sisters and there was a quilt exhibit at the Art Museum that we were at. I insisted we go the quilt exhibit and my sister went along to placate me but I could tell that she thought it would be boring. Then she saw that quilts can actually be pieces of art created from cloth rather than paint and she gained a new appreciation for the talent of quilters. It always reminds me of the old commercial-“try it-you’ll like it.”

Hi Adele,
I was happy with the results of AGT as I thought Shin Lim was an amazing magician. How nice of Garth Brooks to come through on writing that song for that guy. Garth has always known how to put feeling into words in such an expressive manner-he has always been a great writer and performer. I felt like the judges were pushing for him to win. And then it was weird when Tyra announced that he was going home but made it sound like he was staying with the inflection of her voice. I think she got confused and the guy looked confused at first too.
Now DWTS and The Voice start on Monday and I will be overrun with too much TV. lol
I think that ship has sailed for me to pretend that I did not even notice that Greg was gone as we already talked about the golf game. Oh well-retail therapy time! lol
That is funny about Amanda and the lizards. She is probably talking about the little chameleons that are everywhere in Florida. The kids used to try and catch them at my Mother’s place. I had to laugh as you make it sound like there are alligators walking down the sidewalks in Florida. lol On the other hand I would never go into a body of water in Florida other than the ocean or a pool as there are alligators in probably every pond, lake etc.
You probably wouldn’t have liked it either when we stopped at a rest stop in Oklahoma and there was a sign to keep on the pavement because of rattle snakes. I guess there is always something that can get you no matter what part of the country that you live in. It could be a wild animal or a wild person or a runaway train. We just have to weigh the risks and go about our lives and not let these outside things control us.
I’ve probably asked this before but what is American chop suey? Although it doesn’t really matter as my Mom used to make chop suey and I never liked it anyway. My MIL used to use that term too and I was never quite sure what she meant. I like Chinese food but I never liked my Mom’s chop suey-we also have a really good Thai place a town over. I like that food as they use a lot of noodles and i love noodles.

that was one pricey zucchini bread! Did it taste good?

Hi coleen
That is priceless about the travelling Santa. What a cool thing to do with your friend. i bet the kids think it is a riot. I LOVED that story!!!
Has Aliza come by yet? She is so cute, and how she loves her Papa! I think that is adorable. It makes me miss my Dad.
Well, i had what I called “self torture” today. After an x ray, they showed me the shoulder is bone on bone. He was surprised I had that much strength in my arm. I told him I have been doing the shoulder exercises every day. He doesn’t want any PT, as he says that will aggravate the shoulder more, but, to continue the exercises, as they have been working for me.
Because the arms are so strong, I am nto a candidate for surgery- it would be a shoulder replacement. So, they gave me a shot, which went right into the hurt. In one to 2 months, if I feel the pain is continuing, they will do this special shot right into the place the bone meets, with the aid of x rays/film as they do it. Kind of like the shots in the back. he strongly feels the shots, one or the other, will work for me, and I can get one every 4 to 6 months, or as needed. I will be praying that will be enough for the rest of my life.
The only thing I am not supposed to do, is reach up high, or for anything heavy with that arm. So, between the exercises, no reaching with that arm, and the shots, I may be spared a shoulder surgery.
He did add a neck exercise as he said he could see how stiff the neck is from all the pain. It is easy, so that is nto an issue at all.
I have iced both the neck and knee twice already.
By the way, what did you think of who won last night? I think he was great, but, I loved Zuccharo more.
Hope your day went well!

Hi Dd
This tornado crap is all new up here. They only got them once in a blue moon, in the middle of the state. I am convinced it is global warming. A few years ago, there was one in Revere- the next town over. I am alls set with these crazy things! I may come out there, and both of us can go to Alaska….LOL LOL Like I always say, give me a snow storm or blizzard any day! All you have to do is shovel it, stay inside until it is over, and see how beautiful everything looks all white. there is nothing like the smell of snow falling in the winter.
Please read the post to Colleen on the doctor news of the day. I am ok- I am to get shots, and continue doing my exercises.
I am so glad jewell is ok. She is such a pretty kitty. I bet she was a beautiful kitten.
You posted my favorite things….pumpkins and Tom….LOL LOL
I agree. things are getting very expensive, and the quality is nto what it used to be. The old shirts had gorgeous detail, with all sequins, not the ironed on ones. I still like their things, but, if you compare a new shirt to an old one,you see the difference.
Did you see the new show after AGT? I think the grandmother on it is hysterical. I nearly peed myself when the girls did their “modern dance”. i hope zuccharo gets some professional work, as I think they are fabulous.
hope your day went well!

I agree- the quilts are works of art. Someone mande Nancy onw after her son died. It has squares of the things he did, and an actual picture of him on the fabric n one place. people are so talented.
Forgot to say in my post to Colleen….Joanne called today, saying she loved the American Chop Suey, and was so happy I sent some home with them too. It is so easy to make, and everybody loves it. i even have enough for another meal for the 3 of us here, or 4, if Bobby has some too. Onlyone piece of the apple crisp is left…LOL I ahve to say, I am shocked at how much better it came out in the 3 quart casserole Boo fetti.
I am starting to get that “cortisone shot fever”. I hate that. Makes me feel lousy for the first night, and sometimes the next day. But, it is worth it to get rid of the pain.
Adele -
Hey Gailster
I do feel like alligators are on the streets in Florida, and since Barbara told that story of snakes curled up in the pots on her deck, the state of Tennessee will never see me either….LOL LOL I am putting “X’s” on the “dangerous spots to Adele.” Gary said I am becoming a wimp. Well….I certainly cannot outrun any alligator, snake, or even a worm, at this point in my life.
You have to plan a really, really good retail therapy shopping spree for Greg’s mis deed. Has he asked yet?? Dam, I hope he has.
By the way, on the show yesterday, did you see the ugly witch on the haystack (or bench)? I have her. I can’t remember if she is in the last couple of boxes with all the witches I did nto take out, or did I give her away to the kids last year???
The surge strips arrived today. too bad I can’t do all that reaching to hook them all up for a few days, until the shot works into the joint.
Heather is having the boys go upstairs to help her set up the Halloween houses I gave her. I can’t wait to hear Aizen’s response.
Shin Lin was really good, and he comes from Massachusetts. I am still disappointed that Zuccharo did nto win. those kids were amazing.
I am glad some of the other contestants already have work lined up. That was great the opera singer has a spot with Domingo. How cool is that! I am also amazed that Garth is following through with Simon’s request. They were all so good this year.
I also thought that kid was weird. I was wondering if it was an act that she was so shy, to try to win over here. But, she was good. Just something off.
Getting tired, so I will close for tonight. Tomorrow I will be a good girl, and just do needlepoint, and ice the 2 joints. No cooking for me….LOL
Oh…… American Chop Suey:
you saute chopped onion, minced garlic, and red peppers, also chopped small,in olive oil
Add hamburg, after the veggies are soft, and cook until the meat is done
Add cans of Kitchen ready Tomatoes ( amounts all depend on how much you are making- meat, peppers, onion, etc)
add half a can of water, per can of tomatoes
add salt and pepper to taste, and a squirt of the famous Harissa Sauce i love that comes in a tube like the tube of tomato paste, to zhooge it up a notch, or not- that is optional. you can also add a couple of leaves of basil
Simmer for one hour.
Cook your macaroni- I Love the “squiggly ones”, not the usual elbow ones, and then mix into the sauce, and eat!
I usually use one pepper, one big onion, 4 large cloves of garlic, one lb of meat, 2 cans of tomato, and 1 lb to 1 1/2 of macaroni. Last night, I doubled it.
Adele….your whacky, scared old lady friend.
PS…I think she saw crocodiles….LOL LOLO LOL -
Hi Adele,
You sound a lot like me. I’m terrified of snakes!!!! We don’t have alligators or crocodiles out here. Not swampy enough. But we do have snakes. EEEEEkkkkkk!!!!
Oh, do you get COZI TV?? Out here it’s an off shoot of a local affiliate. In fact there are several tv stations that are off shoots of our local stations. Anyway,
COZI TV is running a marathon of the ORIGINAL Magnum, PI Sunday night starting at 7 pm. I love watching the old tv shows. There’s nothing that interests me nowadays. I won’t even tune in to the new Magnum this fall. It just shows they can’t come up with any new ideas so they have to reboot the old ones with younger actors. THey could walk down the street & I wouldn’t know em if I saw them.
You went all out on the decorations. That’s what I do for Christmas. It takes me a long time to get it done. I should start before Thanksgiving but I don’t.Well, all of you have a great weekend. It sounds like we might get a few sprinkles, but next week we’re gonna be in the 80s again.
Take care.
dd -
Hi DD!
those quilts are beautiful.
Imagine if we lived next door to each other, we could compete….LOL
I hate creepy crawlies.
I forgot to tell this story. When winnie was alive, she and Al would go to Florida for a month or so, in the winter. Well, one day they stopped at a rest stop in Florida, while sight seeing, so Al could go to the bathroom…porta potties. When he got back in the car, a huge alligator walked out from behind the porta potties. He showed me the pic, it was huge, and he said it was about 12 feet. I would have been on the next flight back….they would have needed to call 911 to revive me. LOL
I love that saying about friendship.
We don’t get that channel up here. We see a lot of those marathons on the Hallmark channel. they advertised a new Hallmark channel, and we do not get that one.
Hey….do you love the xfinity remote, or what?? Isn’t the reception/picture great too?
Hope you have a good weekend. I am recovering from the 2 shots. I have a fever. I get that all the time after a cortisone shot. It will be gone by tomorrow. I have been doing the ice on and off today. the shoulder feels much better than yesterday, and no pain at all in the knee. I am hoping the shots were successful, with no need to go back for another shoulder one for a while.
How is your back doing?? How is Kay and funny man Critt?

LOL Adele the gator would have finished you off before 911 could respond. Guess you aren’t coming here either as we have snakes, bears etc but no gators. I had a snake right outside my door the other summer. So I got a tin can of tuna & threw it at the snake & hit it on the head so it slithered away. I hope I gave it a headache.
I just had a bit of excitement. Someone was at my door so I went outside & pulled the door shut & you guessed it when I went to go in I was locked out. No phone or anything so I walked over to my neighbor as I had given him a key to my place, in case of emergency. So I got the key from him & came in. Good thing I gave him a key. Just that short time outside & the bugs about ate me. My neighbor was saying to how bad they are.
I will not be watching the new Magnum PI as Tom Selleck is Magnum & I won’t watch a new guy. Just imagine in this one Higgins is a girl. Nope don’t work for me. -
Hope everyone is okay. Sorry to hear your shoulder is bone to bone. I know that hurts you Adele. Glad at least the injections give you relief. When Jerry broke his back he also broke his left shoulder blade too. Paw Paw had that bone to bone on his knee. He would get the shots too that gave him some cushioning between the bones. I know you have to be careful with lifting, but sending hugs your way. Thank goodness you have good strength in your arms. Your decorations are beautiful. You are so talented. Yes, we are having tons of mosquitos in our area this year. They say they bite your dogs and carry all these diseases. When we had our horses the mosquitos would bite them too. It just made me feel so bad for them. We would give our horses and pony baths with a water hose attached to their drinking water tub and we would soap them up and rinse them off, like a car wash for horses. They just loved it. That was so many years ago. I miss those days.
Gail, I so relate to what you are feeling about Gregg not asking how your doctors appt. was. I know men just don’t have the same “thinking process” of we women; but we just need to have times of not being the “rock” of the family, and have others show concern for us. I sometimes think if I don’t complain; Jerry is just clueless. I have always been one of those people who convinced myself at an early age to just keep putting one foot in front of the other, when I wasn’t feeling well, and that by not giving in, the “whatever” would just go away. I know there were many days I went to work when I really should have stayed home; but knew I was needed; so I went. Some days I would feel better as the day wore on, but other days I would feel so badly I could hardly make it home at the end of the day. On one of the tests I had to go to recently; Jerry hurt my feelings about how crowded it was in the parking lot instead of asking my how I did during the procedure. He complained the entire way home; and here I was worried about what the results would be. So I hope he is able to realize how hurtful this can be. I did mean to ask you if the doctor who ordered the TED hose for your legs sent you to a medical suppy store to have your legs measured for the correct size socks for you? It is important; because one size definitely doesn’t fit all in the case of those. What strength did he order for your legs? Hope all of this is going well for you? How is Brent doing with his monitor? Prayers
Funny thing, you have a golf person and I have a “watch the news” person. I just have to wander to another room and grab a book. I get to the point where I just can’t listen anymore. lol
Love those beautiful quilts. I had a quilt frame years ago that you let down by cords from the ceiling and ladies would sit around the frame and sew the pieces together by hand. The quilts were so beautiful. I was young, and was taught by my mother, and also by an older lady we went to church with. You are so right Gail, it is an art to make a quilt. I have quilts for all our beds. I also had what was called a “hope chest”. My grandmother gave it to me when I was a young girl, and things like embroidery pieces, and crochet pieces were put in there for when I got married. Unfortunately; it was one of the pieces my oldest brother sold when our parents passed away. Just thinking about it reminds me of how it smelled so woody (even though I don’t think that is a word)
Hope your cold goes away and stays away Colleen. This changing weather is bad. It was really cool and now is hot again. Poor Antonella did look so miserable. And I love her infectious laugh. I think they needed to be in a cooler place. That is so cute about your little prank with your neighbor. Glad your church auction did so well. I know it was nice not to have to do all that potato salad this year. I remember how hard you worked before.
I am happy your Jewell is doing so much better DD. It makes us sick when they are sick, doesnt it? She is beautiful. Love your pictures.
Gail, I buy the regular length pants. But I haven’t had to buy any in several years. I still have some that I haven’t had to wear yet. THey just last and last. Not complaining, just happy I have a good supply. You are a tiny little thing. I am 5 ft. 8 inches. I was always the “tall girl”. It has its advantages when something is on a shelf. ha ha
Sue, did you get any of that storm? I didn’t know if you are close to the water. Hope everything is okay your way. Has your retirement been all you thought it would be? This has been a different time in our life than I had it pictured to be years ago.
Better go for now. I am looking forward to the cake Halloween shows on the Food Network channel. It starts the end of this month. THey do cakes that are in all shapes and have a sugar artist too that makes things look like glass. It is beautiful. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Barbara -
Hi Gail,
For Oktoberfest they have a parade and all the people in the town participate. They have booths with different crafts there and all types of different things. They have good food and usually a bouncy house that really makes all the kids happy. Sometimes they have the old fur trappers there and they set up their tents and have their weapons and pots and pans that they cooked on. It is really interesting. They have different people that talk about it. I wish that they had some people there that were from the towns and set things up that they did. I like to see candle making and soap making. They have not done that for awhile. It is just a fun day for everyone.
I am glad that your friend is doing well. I still have him on the prayer list. That is so hard for anyone with back trouble. I am glad that the surgery went well.
The only person that I can steal the Santa from I Ruth. It is fun to have a neighbor to do goofy things with. We have both lived here about the same amount of time.I think that we are the only neighbors that live down on this end of the road. Just about everyone sold out and move back into town. We are never going to do that. Well at least we hope we will never have to. We like living out here.
I do not know of a place that there are not snakes and all the creepy things that wander around at night and during the day. I am glad that alligators are not everywhere. That is where I would draw the line. The ones that make me wonder why they are here are the armadillos. I thought that they just liked warm weather but they are in our state.I guess that it is like every where else people bring them into the area and then let them loose.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
Aliza ended up not coming down. I have this cold and it seems to be contagious. We did not want to give it to her. She may come down one day next week. It depends on if we are all over this cold.
That must really hurt with that being bone on bone. Just take it easy and rest that arm. That makes me hurt just thinking about it. It is really good that your arm still has that much strength in it. The exercises must really been helping. You also have been doing a lot of work lately and a lot of lifting. At least now you know not to do that anymore.Did the kids get your decorations out of the closet for you or Gray. You are not a candidate for surgery is a statement that I love to hear. That must have made you feel really good.
I did not watch AGT. I have not watched that show for a while. The kids use to watch it with me and then everyone got bored with it so we watched some other shows. That show is hard to figure out. I should have watched it from the first time it came on . I am excited that dwts is coming back on on Monday. I cannot wait to see who is going to be on there this year. I just hope that I know who they are. I hope that it is a fun show this year.
I did not know that Magnum was coming back on again. It will not be as good as the old one. No one can take the place of Tom Selleck or the guy that played the butler. I cannot think of what his name was. Was it Higgins? It was a fun show to watch.None of the shows that they re do ever are very good. I do not want to watch them. The younger actors do not know how to act the parts. It is sad.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
It sounds like you had a lot of fun with your animals. I really like horses but we never did get any to have on the place. The grands would probably love to have them here but they are a lot of work
I think that they are trying to get the younger people to do more of the work. If they don’t a lot of this stuff will stop. The older people are starting to get sick an just cannot do it anymore. They did not have potato salad this year. We will see if they have it next year or if they will end up buying it. They would never have let anyone buy the potato salad at a store before. You know the younger generation.
I wonder if it was hot why they did not have that show inside. Poor Antonella she had that long sleeve top on and jeans. That was too hot for her. She should have worn one of the short sleeve t shirts. They had that one group that was all short sleeve or elbow sleeve. I guess that no one thought about it until the show was on.
Since Ron has retired he goes with to most of my doctor appointments. When he was working it would not matter if he was off that day or not he would not go. he always thinks that something will happen if I drive myself. He does like to put his two cents in when I am in the office. Since he retired he has really changed.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Ladies,
Well it’s the first day of fall & it came in with a bang. Rain came in over night & is raining now. But by Tues. we’ll be back into the low 80s they say. Weather whiplash as I call it.
That’s too bad you don’t get any of those channels I spoke of. They run all the shows from the 50s, 60s,70s, & 80s. Rockford Files, Magnum, Columbo, the old comedies, one channel runs the old variety shows from waaay back. Judy Garland era.
Colleen,
Armadillos there? I thought they were in Texas & deserts. That’s weird. Gators would never survive here, esp in winter!!!
We have Ockober Fest out here in 2 or3 towns. I think there’s one this weekend somewhere around here. There’s a big celebration in a small town called Mt. Angel. They go all out every year. I’ve never been to one, but I see it on the local news every year.
Well, I guess that’s about it from here.Take care. Have a great weekend.
dd & Jewell -
Hi DD,
We did not think that those stupid things would survive here either. Armadillos must be able to survive in cold weather also unless they hibernate in the winter. I have not idea. We just see dead ones on the side of the road all summer long. I just wonder if they do damage to your tires if you run over them. I have never talked to anyone who hit one. We will have to see if we see many on the road in the winter.
It is cool here right now also. It is supposed to stay in the 70’s all week here. I hope that they are right. We are ready for cooler weather. Those quilts that you have been posting are so pretty. They would be nice to have in any room. All the pretty butterflies.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
OMG Sue!!!!
You were so lucky your neighbor was home. Also that it was nto pouring out when you got locked out. That was funny.
We can call you the snake whisperer…..LOL I think I would puke if a snake was at my door. I know we have them, but, have not seen one in a century.
Did I tell you we found one of our cutie bunnies dead in the back of the yard, behind the pool? It looked like it died of natural causes. before Bobby could dispose of it, something ate it, and left just the bones. Totally gross.
I thought it was funny to have the woman play the man’s part. I wonder if the show will be a success. I am dying to see the new FBI, and the new medical one.
Soooo…now I have to add Penn to my list? LOL LOL LOL
Your whacky hater of reptiles friend
Adele -
Barbara, and everyone
I am going to try to get through these quick, as we have a problem with Tillie, and need to get her to the hospital.
Yesterday she told me she was in severe pain- her right lower back, radiating to front. Called er doctor’s line, and none of our doctors were covering- wanted to get an order for a urine. No go- said to go to the er room. Tillie refused to go, but agreed to take Alleve with the celebrex.
She only got out of bed to go to the bathroom, but said it was better with the Alleve. She only wanted soup last night, and hardly ate any.
Today, no better- and she will nto get out of bed, which I know is making this worst. She begged me not to take her, as she has not showered in days. So, Heather is here washing her up, and after they are done, it is a 911 call, as we cannot get her into a vehicle.
Please say a prayer. I do not want her in a nursing home, medicated to the hilt. I want her back home.
Adele -
DD
We tried to get the Rockford files, we do nto have that channel. Hope you enjoyed the shows.
Please read post to Barbara for what is happening. Tillie is nto good.
Love the quilts!
Adele -
Hey Colleen
Please read post to barbara- will be tkaing Tillie to Er as soon as Heather gets her dressed.
So sorry little Aliza did nto come, and you have a cold.
Heather was by with Aizen yesterday, for a few minutes. Was nice to see him.
Adele
PS….he ran when I put the lights/music on the displays. He is fine with them, as long as no sound….LOL
Adele -
Hi Adele,
I will be praying for Tillie. I hope that it is nothing more then an infection. That is so nice that Heather came over to get her ready to go to the er. Poor Tillie just does not like going to the doctor.
Will talk to you later. Hope all goes well.
Love ya and will be praying.
Colleen -
Hi Everyone,
I emailed Adele to ask about Tillie and she said she had blockage in a duct and gall stones so they were doing another test to see if they needed to do surgery. She asks for prayers.
Thanks,
Gail -
Hi DD,
Those butterfly quilts are so beautiful. I love them!
We are having weather in the upper sixties and it has been getting into the middle forties at night. Usually it’s a little warmer but I am enjoying it.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
The number of states that you will visit is shrinking little by little. lol You crack me up.
I am praying that Tillie will be all right.
You know Greg never did ask about my doctor’s visit. But I finally told him when we were going into the city on Friday. I knew my friend Nan would probably ask me about my legs so I figured I better let him know what is going on so it would look like he already knew all about it. He said he thought that I had already told him,but he must have been thinking about the consultation rather than the actual doctor’s appointment after we knew the results of the ultra sound. Anyway, I made my appointments for the procedures-they will in November. One on Tuesday and the second on Thursday with a trip to get my hair done in between. I wonder if i will get a discount because my legs are so short. lol
So we went to visit Tim on Friday. He is doing really well and other than the pain from the surgery the other pain is gone so he is in really good spirits. That was so good to see. He plans on being able to do the ONP concert on October 13th.
I have to ask what are the surge strips that you were talking about?
You know I read that that dance team Zucharo had some kind of an act in Austria I think it was so I guess they will do okay.
You know the American chop suey doesn’t sound Chinese at all. It almost seems like it’s more on the Italian side. What is harissa sauce? I will google it. I wonder who came up with the name for that. Do I ask too many questions? lol
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I hope your cold is better so you can see Aliza soon.
The October fest sounds like fun. It kind of reminds me of the Harvest fest that they have around here in September.
You know it’s funny that you mentioned armadillos as I was just thinking about them recently. I was thinking that i hadn’t seen one in a long time. We used to see them when we drove down south all the time-like you said dead on the side of the road like raccoons around here. I guess because we no longer drive to Louisiana and haven’t for awhile we no longer see them.
We have one of those living history museums around here where they do all the things the old fashioned way. It’s interesting but now it is harder for me to go there and do all the walking. I miss that.
gail -
Hi Barbara,
I remember hope chests. I never had one. I guess there was no hope for me ever to catch a man. lol I think those are nonexistant today as the young people don’t seem to appreciate the handmade things anymore. I think many of those chests were cedar chests and that’s what gave them the smell. I think cedar is supposed to keep out moths.
They did measure my legs at the doctor’s office so I think I will get stockings that have a more exact fit after the procedures are done.
Thanks for understanding my feelings about Greg not asking about my doctor visit. I know you were hurt too when Jerry didn’t ask about your tests. Sometimes men need a little sensitivity training.
Brent only has another week on the monitor. He is happy about that. Can’t wait to see him next month.
Gail -
Hi Gail,
That will be nice for Brent to get that monitor off. It is tiring having to worry about that stuff all the time. It will be good to find out what is going on with him. i hope that this is something that they can take care of without much trouble.
I had a cedar chest when I was growing up. It was nice to have it but none of our girls wanted one. I would have given one of them mine if they wanted it. Now I have it sitting in my bedroom. I may have to redo it. I think it needs to be re varnished or what ever they do to cedar chests. Mine is cedar on the inside and it still smells really good as old as it is.
I am glad to hear that Tim is doing better. I hope that he will make it to the ONP and be able to perform. They are such a great group and do a lot of good for people.
We are hoping to see ALiza pretty soon. She is such a character. We heard from Owen he killed a big buck with a bow and arrow. He went hunting with his dad. Danyielle was hoping that the would not like hunting like his dad does. I still think the first time that he has to clean what he kills he will quit. That is the disgusting part.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen
p.s. thanks for letting us know about Tillie. -
Hey everyone
Thank you for the prayers. Please keep them coming.
Tillie has huge gall stones, a dilated duct (they think a stone passed through), a cystic structure on her pancreas, that is so large, they feel it is cancer. This mass (size of a golf ball) will be looked at through a special endoscopy test- to be scheduled. Then add the aortic valve stenosis, and very loud heart murmur.
That being said, she comes home today. We will do the endoscopy, but no treatment will be done (chemo, etc), unless it involves her comfort. They feel they discovered this per “incidental findings”, and are not concerned it will cause pain, so that is good.
The heart/valve thing, if severe, means she has about 2 years left. I don’t think I want that question answered. I did give the family “the talk”….days are numbered at 92, on a good day, visitation is key, get yourselves ready to celebrate her life, not her death. She has seen more than my poor Dad ever got to see- grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gret-gret grandchildren, and loved comfortably in this country for 70 years. Many people cannot say that. We need to look at the good, nt the bad.
Tillie is scared. Gave her the talk that I would never let her be in pain, suffer, or do needless tests that affect her quality of life. Not to worry about the possible cancer, that they feel she has lived with for about 50 years- it is a slow growing thing. We will keep her safe.
So, I know this sounds awful, but I will be praying for her end to be quiet, painless, and not noticeable. that she gently goes from her bed, to my Dad’s arms in Heaven. I hope God takes her in her sleep, before she any pain we cannot help. I am also praying she has no more of these awful attacks that get her so sick. It was hard to see her in that pain, and then vomiting uncontrollably. That may have been somewhat due to the pain med they gave her, which we have banned from her life- they had to continually hit her with these intravenous meds to stop the nausea. From then on, they gave her a heavy duty Motrin based pain med. She tolerated that one well.
So, ladies. We get her in a couple of hours. I am thankful to God we can take her home, and hope she is here for one more year of holidays, one more Mothers Day.
Love you guys!
Adele -
Hey Gail
I think all the guys need a smack. Did i mention Tillie wa sin pain for 2 days that I was nto informed, due to her telling GAry not to tell me? She was hiding it because I had the 2 shots on Thursday. Can you imagine how bad it could have been? They both got the riot act read to them on that one….LOL
HArissa sauce was mentioned in a recipe, and I have been using it ever since. yes, it is way more italian. i wonder if it is a regional food thing???
What did you get for retail therapy??? Is Greg still in the dog house?
Saw something about a monitor for Brent- did I miss something again? God help me!
Glad tim is doing better, and that your appointments are scheduled, including the hair- we need to take care of ourselves. Also, i scheduled the ultrasound I re-scheduled due to Tillie’s growth. I want to make sure that was nto inherited too. I ahve re-scheduled that ultrasound 4 times….LOL
Oh yes…states acceptable to visitation are dwindling….LOL
Adele -
I remember hope chests- we all ha done, as did our Mom’s….LOL
Adele -
Hi Ladies,
Adele, I’m so very sorry to hear about Tilly. Sending prayers, hugs & love your way. I remember hope chests, altho I didn’t have one. Mine would’ve been the hopeless chest. I love the smell of the cedar. I understand it kept the bugs away!!As you know I;m not married, but I always felt that the men I met didn’t have the brains God gave a rock. They don’t think the way we do. I guess it’s in their chemical makeup. Whenever Critt goes off on a tangent, I just say “Critt.( pause,) Shut up!!!!”. Then he lowers his head & replies, “Yes boss”. I think he does it just to get a reaction out of me. And it works.
I’m glad you’re all enjoying the butterfly quilts. I found em on my FB newsfeed. It’s titled Art of Butterfly. Everyday I get more pics of quilts, bags, etc. I think I better get this sent before I lose it.
Take care.
Love
dd & Jewell -
Hi Adele,
That is such a good way to look at things. I am sorry to hear about Tillie but you are right just enjoy having her with you. I hope that she does not have any pain that cannot be controlled with medicine. You are right she will go back to the arms of your dad and she will be happy with him again. That is the doctors plan but we never know what God’s plan will be. So just do not worry about the time that the doctors gave her and we will pray that she will live longer and pain free. She is so lucky to have you to be with her and to take care of her.
We feel like we are lucky to have mom in our lives also. We do not know how much longer that we will have her with us. I wish that she would have moved in with us or moved closer to where we live. She will never leave the area she is in and never in with anyone. She loves living in her house and being by herself. She thinks that we will all get tired of her if she lives with one of us. We try to tell her but she will not listen.
I will be praying for all of you. Just keep thinking the way you are and things will be fine with you. prayer will help you thru all of this.
Luv ya my friend and will be praying.

Hi DD,
When we were kids we all had cedar chests. There were four of us girls at our house and we all had one. They sat at the end of our beds. It was funny to think about that now. I do not know if I have many of the things left that were in there. Just my good dishes and some of the pots and pans.
I like the picture and the saying on the picture on the cat. How true is that. We all wanted to get older and now look at what getting older did for us. We cannot explain that to younger people either. They all want to grow up too fast.
Did you watch any of the Christmas shows today? They had some really cute things on there. I ordered a few things as gifts. I have the coffee cups for my sils and will add coffee and some type of cake or cookies to go with it. It is hard to come up with some thing new every year to give them. I do not know what I will give other people. It is getting harder to buy gifts for everyone the older we get the less things that we need.
Critt is so funny. He must be a good neighbor and it is nice that you feel comfortable enough to tell him to shut up. I like his reaction to it when you tell him.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I’m so sorry Tillie had to go through all that. I’ll bet she is glad to be home and you are glad to have her there. She is understandably afraid but she is very lucky having so much love and support surrounding her. I have been thinking about your situation and your difficulty with the stairs. I wonder if it would be beneficial to hire an aide to come in and help with her care. I know she is resistant to that but maybe you could find a way to present the idea in a way that she thinks she is really helping you by having a helper. I know you will have to adjust to new things day by day. Remember to take some time for yourself too as you will need your strength, health and humor. We are always here with words of support and maybe some ideas too.
You can take the back of your hand to the side of Gary’s head for me. Yikes! That was not a good secret to keep.
Who knew that you could see a pancreas with an endoscope? I guess they decided not to do gall bladder surgery then. I hope she doesn’t have any more attacks. Did you know about the heart before this or did they just find that out too?
I never did any retail therapy and Greg is out of the dog house as he felt bad when I told him that he never asked about my appointment. He’s a wonderful man it’s just that sometimes he gets too involved in his other responsibilities.
I know you are probably tired and worried. Just try to take it a day at a time and look for something each day to make you smile. I will try to think of funny stories to tell.
You didn’t miss anything about Brent. As i posted before he had to wear a monitor for a month but that was not anything new.
The new season of DWTS has started. So that’s a good diversion. Anyone going to watch the children’s version? I haven’t decided on that one yet. I would kind of like to see the little boy from General Hospital and the one from Blackish. I can always DVR and decide later
Do any of you watch soaps or am I the only one? I always watched General Hospital-and also Days of Our Lives-but then i dropped that one for several years but have recently come back to that one too. it’s so much easier to watch with a DVR as you can skip commercials and watch whenever you want.
Gail
I just figured out i’m probably the only one who watched soaps as the rest of you were probably at work and I was a stay at home mom. Eating bon bons and watching soaps-yeah right!
Gail -
Hey DD,
I like the idea about one man cooking and one man cleaning. lol Sounds like a plan.
I never had a hope chest and i don’t think my mother did either.
The story about Critt made me think of a friend I had in my early twenties when I lived in Chicago. His name was Ken and he had a tendency to tell a story in a very round about way. I would listen until I could no longer stand it and finally say “just get to the point, Ken!” It got to be a running joke between us. Gosh i had forgotten about that and him too.
Who knew there were so many people making butterfly quilts.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
I wonder why your daughters never wanted hope chests.
Our weather has gotten cooler. We are just in the 60’s this week. What is the weather by you?
How is your cold doing?
I didn’t know it was already bow and arrow season. I thought hunting season was closer to November. But we don’t hunt so I really don’t pay much attention. I remember driving back from Minnesota one time maybe right before Thanksgiving and it seemed like every other vehicle had a dead deer tied to it. It was kind of gross.
You can tell it’s getting to be fall as the blue heron has been stalking our pond again. Damn bird! I liked when we had dogs and I could open the door and they would run out and chase him away.
What did you like on the Christmas shows? I didn’t see much that interested me this time around. Once it’s October the Q will be Christmas all the time.
Did you watch DWTS? Some of the people that were safe surprised me and some in the bottom six surprised me too. Sometimes I wonder what the voters base their choices on.
Gail -
Hello to All, my prayers for everything is taking place in our lives. I am so happy that Ms. Tillie was able to come home. I know she is so much happier and comfortable in her own surroundings. And we all feel so much better just being in our own little world that is familiar to us. I remember so vividly when I was in the hospital that my thought 24 hours a day was “just do whatever you have to and you will get home sooner” and how even as the man was pushing my wheelchair out to the door to our car I was praying and praying that NOTHING would happen to stop my being able to get in our car and leave. You would think I have no faith in hospitals; which is not true; it is just the strong pull to go home. So please give her our love and let her know that we have so many questions we want to ask her that she has to stay with us AT LEAST 20 more years. She has a whole world of stories for us; so we will not allow her to pack her suitcase now. I think that was a great idea that Gail had to let her think that she would be helping you, Adele, by letting a caregiver come in; especially since she convinced poor Gary to not tell you how she was feeling. And like Colleen said, your Dad will be there to greet her when the time comes, and that will be a happy time for her.
DD. I love your friend Critt. He is a smart man; who knows when to hush. LOL In all these many years of marriage to Jerry; I have often described us as two old Billy Goats tied to the same post; and just out of the blue one of us will just up and butt the other like you see on the Nat Geo animals show. ha ha My better half; on the other hand, instead of hushing was on the debate team in high school; and he never got out of that role. ha ha And now that we have all these search things on the computers he will look up “his side” of the shall we say discussion, even if it takes him weeks, and then will just casually bring it up one day to me. Unless, of course, I happen to have been right. lol So I think we all chose the way that is right for us. By the way; your Jewell is so precious. Those pictures of her peering over things is so cute. Its like she is saying “I’m watching you” ha ha
I did order a reindeer statue that had a big sparkly candle sitting between its antlers. It stands about 2 feet tall. I was able to get it in the cream with gold antlers. And must admit I also ordered the toffee. Adele; I have to confess, I order from See’s candies about 4 times a year. The candy is just scrumptious. So I’m right there with you.
It is cloudy and much cooler here; so Fall is here. The tips of our leaves are golden in color. We had lots of rain and then the weather turned in the 60s. Our outside puppy dog was in his dog house on the covered patio and he was shivering when I went out to feed him a sausage and biscuit I had brought home to him.
Better close for now. Sue, I don’t blame you for buying several pkgs. of cookies. I just found them at our store and I bought 6 pkgs. I was afraid they would run out. THey are really good and smell SO good while baking.
Take care all. Prayers for everyone. We help each other by our caring about each others lives. Hugs, Barbara -
Hi DD
So the National Sex reporting line reports a 140% increase in calls tonight. Watching the hearing today gives you a sick feeling in your stomach for the rights of women, and how far we THINK we have come. Not to mention the academy award display on fake tears, quickly switching to bullying behavior. Notice he did not want an FBI look see, nor his good buddy to appear, whoi he also threw under the bus. God help this country if he is nominated.
Love the signs- especially the….you know you are crazy ….one.
Tillie is ok today, even though she needed help getting out of bed this am. Marissa was here, and went to help, and stay with her i until Heather got here to help her shower.
Hope your day went well.
Adele -
Hey Colleen
We have been lucky. Thank you for the nice words- you are right- God will decide. I hope he decides we get one more holiday season.
I will say a prayer that your Mom decides she wants to be with you. It would be so nice for you,and the kids, and grands.
I get another shot in the knee tomorrow…….fun for the feeble minded….LOLDD
Forgot to say thank you for the kind words from you!!!!Love you guys!

Barbara, I am so happy your store got the cookie mixes in. You have to stock up when you can as this is the only time of year you can get them. I guess this is the only time the company makes them because I ask my store about getting them year round & they are not available always. So I stock up so I have them. They should last a while if the package is not opened.
We are into Fall too. Only problem is we never had summer. We had some warm days but constant rain & that is continuing. It has rained every day this week. We never have sunshine only dark dreary days & we have enough of those in winter. I am really starting to get grumpy with no sun. Our fruit & veggies were ruined this summer hardly any available anywhere. Usually the farmers market is full of thing & lots of roadside stands but not this year. -
Hey Gailster
Tillie refuses the home health aid. Everyone has tried. She did agree to the PT, and they are coming again tomorrow. God help me!
Sooooo. I watch Soaps way more drama filled than you do….the US Senate. LOL LOL they are giving a new name to daytime drama. Nancy and I cannot shut it off, we are hooked.
Glad Greg is out of the dog house. GAyr was in it, big time, for the secret keeper. Had she died, he would have never forgiven himself. he kept saying he was keeping her confidence. So, I gave him the social worker rule for confidence….as long as you do nto fear for their life and safety.
I did nto see DWTS, as I never got in the living room to see it from the beginning. Ill catch it next week. Do you like these dancers??
We did know that Tillie had a murmur, and some blockage, consistent with her age. Seems it got a lot worst, (I am calling it a symphony) but she is about 10 years older too.
Shot day tomorrow. woohaa!
Love ya!

Adele, I got so sick of those hearings. I think she was nervous but did very well. Then he was angry crying & sniffing and evaded the questions he was ask & did not really offer an answer. Said about everything his family was put through. What about her & her family. I think she is telling the truth and can understand why women don’t come forward as they always think they are lying & put them through the mill. Another reason I believe her as she is not the only one. If only one made these charges she could be untruthful but when there are multiple women there must be some truth. At least Bill Cosby got locked up but not for long enough.
-
Hi Sue
I will have to read barbara’s post to see what cookie mixes you speak of!
I have the zucchini and apples to make zucchini bread and apple crisp, and NOTHING got made this week. Not even dinner, as I do nto count baking a pot pie cooking. It is heat and eat….LOL
i have to really think out dinners for next week, so I do nto stress out Tillie’s gall bladder.
Forgot….do you watch Blue Bloods? can’t wait until tomorrow night. hope I dio nto fall asleep as i am a little poooped lately.
Love ya!
We are getting more rain- poured yesterday. the only days that were picture perfect, Tillie was in the hospital. I hope I get some good ones, so we can sit on the deck before it gets real cold.
Adele -
Barbara
I got the See’s candy today. An obscene amount. I tried the Krispy’s- yum, and half of a marshmallow jack-o-lantern. OMG. I got those cute boxes of 5 with decorations for the kids for Halloween….any bet they may be gone before Halloween???? LOL LOL
I am going to try again with the home health aid, as I cannot get a Minnion here all the time. Tillie is a very lucky woman. She does knwo it. Imagin, she had one child, and now has 12 people who care for her….LOL
I am pooped, so I will close for tonight.DD
I totally agree!! critt is a scream. I wish you could take a pic of you Critt, and Kay to post on here.
Love you!!
Adele -
Hi Sue
I totally, totally, totally agree. It was a disgrace. no woman would come forward to destroy their privacy, family and careers, unless it was true.
I was sickened by Lindsey Graham’s performance. What if it were his daughter? His wife?
She was , and will go down in history as a courageous woman of intense character, and strength. The rest of them will be goons in the history annals. Do they really want their names forever linked to what #45 is doing to this country? Wow, is all I can say. This may go down as one of the darkest days in this fine land’s history.
All I can think of, is how my Dad, a career Army man would view this mess. All our servicemen, and women, federal employees, FBI, CIA, and everyone else, must be questioning why they are serving this country tonight.
Do you remember the phrase….”God save the United States of America”? Whoever said it is rolling in their graves.
Were i an attorney, i owuld fight any case going before him, IF he keeps his position as judge in the 1st circuit court. Not to mention, if he gets appointed. I would hope the country would start to protest.
I am also thinking there will be more reports on him. I would not be surprised. I do love that Senator Cory Booker. he is a good and honorable man. Like him a lot.
Have a good night- we are about to get blasted with more rain.
Adele -
Hi Adele and Sue,
They have a man that has confessed to being the on that did that to that dr. They said that they did it and did not have anything to say about Kavanaugh.
This other woman that has come forward has a few problems of her own with other men. She has restraining orders against her. Everything that others have said about him have been positive. That has been men and women. I am not saying that she is lying the dr. but there is a lot of things that have happened between that night and what has been happening. It is easy to get confused. Maybe he was upset because they are smearing his good name and his whole family is going this thru this also. I am so glad that he is still fighting. It takes a lot more courage to fight then it does to quit.
Did not say this to offend anyone but I just feel that because people do not like President Trump they automatically think that this guy is guilty.
Colleen -
Hi Gail,
My odest would not want one because that would not match her furniture in her room. The other two just were never interested. I guess that the other girls did not have a cedar chest and they did not want one either. I do not know why things were unpopular. I guess their mom’s did not have one so the other kids did not want on either.
My cold is still going. They have me on two different kinds of medicine and an inhaler. Those things are weird. I am glad that I do not have to use one all the time. I have to take these for a month and if it is not gone by then I have to go in. If it is not gone by a month then it will never be gone.lol
Bow and arrow season starts a long time before rifle. The only reason I know is Ron’s family all go hunting. Ron does not do it anymore. Thank heaven. His nephew will bring him a deer every once in awhile but it is cleaned and we do not have to do all of that. Ron shares veggies out of the garden with them so they trade. We will take it to a place that will make it into sausage and deer sticks. I do not want to touch that stuff.
I cannot believe that bird is back already. He is a little early this year isn’t he? I hope that you can get rid of him. Maybe it is this cool weather that is bringing him back. It has been cool here also. We have been opening the windows and the doors to air the house out.
I got my brother that snoopy blanket and my sils and my sister a cup. Then I will get them some coffee and cakes to go with the mug. I will get my brother a movie and some popcorn for when they sit and watch movies in the winter.
I did watch dwts the last two nights. They have some good dancers. I thought that Mary lou is really good for her age. I thought that the girl that went home should have. The other one that is having trouble is the blind girl. I thought that she was going home last night but she made it thru. She had a lot of missteps. I wonder what they will do when she has to do a fast dance. I worry about that. We will see.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I know what you mean about hospitals. They are not fun to be in there for very long. I think that you start to get better when you get home. Hospitals are noisy. They have so much going on and they are never quite.
That reindeer statue was really pretty. I do not have any place to put a reindeer and so could not get one. I wish that I had places to put them outside. I do have a few things that I put on the deck but that is about all. I have the food shows on my dvr and hope that they have some good ones. The Gourmet holidays show. We do not watch many of them.
It is cooler here also. I am ready for the cold weather. It has been so hot this year. I am ready for cooler weather. I think that I am ready for Christmas. These shows are getting me all excited for the season. I love Thanksgiving also. It is just fun to be home for all the holidays. We were supposed to go to Tennessee for the holiday but guess it is not going to work out. So we will be at home. Just hope that we can get all the kids home for the holidays.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Adele,
I went to post this and the whole thing disappeared. I do not know what is going on. It has been awhile since that has happened. Well I guess that I will write more tomorrow.
Hope that Tillie is doing better now. I know that she feels better being at home. I hope that you can talk her into having an aid come and help with her. It will take some talking I understand how that is. Just hang in there and she will do what you want. It is hard getting older.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi Barbara,
I love the image of the two billy goats tied to the same post occasionally butting each other.
I have known other people that just like to debate and be right-in fact Brent is very much like that or at least was when he was younger and I doubt that is something that changes. I always used to tell him that with that quality he should have been a lawyer.
I have a set of reindeer with the candle on the antlers that I got from the Q a couple of years back. I really like them.
I have never eaten See’s candies. After hearing you guys talk about them I will have to try them.
Gail -
Hi Colleen,
You must be really congested if you have an inhaler. I hope everything clears up soon. The only time I had an inhaler is when I had pneumonia. You are right they are weird to use when you are not used to them. I always had to think about how to use it every time. Did they give you one of those breathing treatments in the doctor’s office. I have had those too.
We have a place around here that will butcher the deer too. I’m not sure if they will clean it too or if the hunter has to do it.Usually the heron comes around in the early spring and in the fall. I wonder if the fishing in the regular streams is slower at those times of the year and that’s why he comes by looking for a free meal.
The gifts for your brother, sister and SIL sound like a really cute idea. I bet they will love them. I especially like the idea of the blanket, movie and popcorn. It seems like I always have a blanket while sitting on the couch watching TV in the winter.
Yes, I think the blind skier is having some trouble too. It must be hard for her and also hard for her partner to try and teach her. He has to be very creative. They showed a picture of her skiing and said her husband leads her down the mountain and I still can’t figure out how that works. I wish they would explain it in more detail.
The other day all of a sudden my arm started itching and I looked at it and I had a huge red lump with a big mark in the middle of it. Some spider must have gotten me good and I never even noticed. The darn thing has been waking me up at night with itching until I get up and put something on it. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always been very sensitive to bug bites. I can’t imagine how a spider got me during the day.
Gail -
Hi Adele,
I must say I watched her yesterday and then after the break I was doing something else so I did not see him but did see clips later on. I wish there was a definitive way of knowing who is telling the truth. I hope they wait and have an FBI investigation-they need to be as thorough as possible in a situation like this and that seems like the best solution to me. That’s me a true Libra always wanting to give everyone a chance to tell their side of the story and to dig until the truth comes out. But as I understand that’s not going to happen and they are going ahead with the vote today to approve the nomination.
I sincerely hope that you can convince Tillie to let someone come in to help her. It would be such a relief for you all. Even if it was someone to keep her company during the day. We used to use an agency called Home Instead when we went out for an evening. She would come over and give Greg’s Mom her dinner and then they used to play games or watch TV together and if we were late she would get her ready for bed. I still always helped her with her shower and to get dressed and all. So hopefully there will be some way that she would accept help when the family isn’t available. Maybe if you had someone in to sort of keep her company or do stuff with her during the day until she starts feeling more comfortable with the idea. If only the older people would realize it’s so counterproductive to refuse help.
I do like the dancers this time around. Some of course are better than others. We have a new pro-a guy who used to be in the troupe so that is kind of interesting. He has a good partner so he should do well.
I hope your shot goes well today.
You are right. Your life is a real life soap opera. Although I still doubt that you have been possessed by the devil, come back from the dead or have an identical look alike which are just some of the crazy soap storylines over the years. Sometimes I wish I could write for a soap where anything is possible.
Did the hospital give you any instructions of what types of food to not serve Tillie. You need some kind of guidelines.
Have a good and peaceful weekend.

Hi Ladies,
I hope this finds everyone doing fine. I have some bad news to report. Kay’s back in the hospital again. She’s in really bad shape. I went to see her Wed. morning & found her in horrible shape. She had no color in her face, her eyes were sunken, she could barely talk. I told her she looked like death warmed over, & she needed to go to the hospital. Well, she didn’t like that idea at all & refused. She’d been drinking again which she’s not supposed to do. She has no upper body strength at all, she couldn’t even scoot herself up on the couch. I asked her if I could help her but she said no. I’m not able to lift anyone, so I couldn’t do that. When she told me she’d been drinking, I didn’t lecture, I just gave her “the look”, “you should know better’ look.
Roxie came by to drop off some things she brought for Kay, so I left. I texted her sister, but she was out of town, so she gave me her brother’s phone #. I called & left him a message about Kay. He called back saying he couldn’t come then since he was at work. He finally showed up & went into her apt, & found her on the floor. She was in no shape to get up off the floor. I called 911 & he stayed with her while I called. I guess he called his family.
The paramedics came & got her off the floor. They put her on the couch & she could barely sit up. Then they put her on the gurney & took her to the hospital.
I learned yesterday that she has a bad infection in one lung & they found the right side of her heart has water on or around it. It doesn’t look good for her right now.
Her mind isn’t doing so well either. When she got to the hospital they asked her what day it was, she replied Sat. Then they asked her what year it was & she replied 1988, Nov. 1988. A while back, she told me she’d been to the store. She said she took a cab over to the store around 8 AM. She couldn’t have made it down to my apt much less get downstairs & into a cab. She’s on oxygen 24/7. There’s no way she could’ve done all that. What I think happened she had been dreaming & thought it was real. I had asked her if she thought she had pneumonia & she said no. This infection they found is a slow growing infection, so she must’ve had it back then. Now she’s really in a mess.
Adele, I hope Tilly’s feeling better. Avoid feeding her any greasy foods. I had a friend who had gall bladder issues & when she’d eat greasy foods it would flare up.
I haven’t read all the latest posts so if I left anyone out I’ll get back to them later.
Have a great weekend.
dd & Jewell -
Hi Gail,
They did not give me one of the breathing treatments just the inhaler. I have to use it three times a day. I have never used one before so it is all new to me. Sometimes if I do not do it right the medicine just comes right out of my mouth. That is just too strange.
It is getting harder every time that I shop for Christmas. I never know what to get my brother or my sister. So that was the best that I could come up with. I just have to find coffee and things to go with the cups. The blanket was easy to come up with something to go with that. I want to get that Farmer Johns popcorn it is really good. I am not sure what kind that I will get.
It is amazing what she can do on the dance floor but they have to figure someway for her to figure out how to do the dances. They will have to do some of the fast dances soon and I do not know how they are going to pull that one off. It will be an interesting journey. They have a lot of good dancers on there this time. It seems like they get better and better every time. Even the older dancers are doing pretty good.
That would be a surprise to find a bite like that on your arm. Maybe it happened during the night but it just started to itch during the day. Or maybe you did not notice that it itched until during the day. That is strange to get a bite like that during the day time. You would usually feel it crawling on your arm before it would have bit you. I hope that it gets better soon. That has to be uncomfortable.
It is a shame that there is not something that you can put out there that would make a noise when the heron comes around. Maybe one of those dogs that bark when they hear or see motion. Those things are really cute.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.
Colleen -
Hi DD,
I am so sorry to hear about Kay. I hope that she comes thru this okay. I did not realize that Kay was a drinker. That is so sad that she started doing it again when she is so sick. Will put her on the prayer list and pray for her every night. Her poor sister being out of town and all of this going on. She probably be coming home soon. That is rough when they cannot remember what year it is or what month. That is just so sad.
She is lucky to have you as a neighbor. She could have laid there for a long time if you did not check on her. It is really nice that you got the paramedics to come there and kept trying until you found someone from the family to come over there and help. How are you feeling. I know that had to be hard on you to find her like that.
Well that is about all from here. Have a good night.
Colleen -
Hey Colleen and DD
I am glad they are doing an FBI investigation. They will clear it all up, and the truth will be found out.
It will be interesting, for sure!
Adele -
Hey Colleen
It is getting hard to feed Tillie. No matter what she eats, she ends up with some back pain. So, I will be making chicken soup on Monday or Tuesday. Marissa is going to BJ’s Sunday, and I will have her get the chicken.
Tillie had macaroni and a meatball, and last night Chinese. She ate the steamed ravioli, and the chicken lo mein, with only one chicken finger. No rice, either.
The Pt person came yesterday, and she did do the exercises, so that was good…..LOL
Hope your weather is good over there- sun is out over here.
‘Adeel -
Hey Gailster!
I am so glad they are doing the FBI investigation. It happened while I was at the doctor’s. I called my buddy Nancy, and said….” you leave the TV for one minute, and all hell breaks loose”…..LOL Certainly, the FBI can sort it all out. One woudl hope.
OMG, I forgot all the plot twists to the soaps. It is a nice diversion. Back in the day, I watched General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives. All before I was divorced, in 1974.
As things are quieter, I will be watching DWTS Monday night. So, I have to catch up.
OMG, Bobby just came up ,and said the dryer is broken. God help me.
The shot went well, after the initial pain….LOL I did the ice thing, as soon as I got home.
It is cool here today, but sunny. I guess I have to deal with the dryer now…..
Adele -
Dearest DD
I am so terribly sorry about your friend Kay. From what you report, it does not sound good at all. I will be praying for her to be pain free, with whatever comes next. It is very sad.
She was lucky you stopped by, and found her, and made the calls. You are a good, kind, friend, and she will remember that the rest of her life, and beyond.
You will all be in my prayers.
AdeleThank you for the hint on Tillie’s food. I ahve been trying to limit the fats, but, I wonder if no fat at all is right for now. Also nto sure how one does no fat at all, as it is in just about everything. She sees her GP on Wednesday.

Colleen
Forgot to say, sorry about your cold. I hope it is better by now.Gail
‘What happened with the bite on your arm? A spider maybe?Adele

Hi Ladies,
Well, I went to see Kay today, but she wasn’t aware I was there. They’ve put her on morphine now & it’s just a matter of time. IF she lives thru the weekend, they plan to put her in a hospice care center. But from all indications I doubt she’ll make it. It’s been a wild few days here, as you could well imagine. It’s so terribly sad & depressing. I’ll sure miss her. Not being able to go down to her apt & visit with her. She’d babysit me & Jewell when the pest guys came around.
I was just leaving my apt earlier to go catch the bus that takes me over to the hospital. I was shutting the door when her sister came around the corner getting off the elevator. She said wait & I’ll take you over there. She had to pick up something at Kay’s (she’s been staying there). So I waited &went with her to the hospital. -
Hi again,
I don’t know what just happened. I wasn’t finished, but some how it got sent before I was done.
Anyway, our weather has cooled off now & we’re having showers now. We were in the 80s all week. They say yesterday was the last of the 80s for the yr.\
Now we’ll be in the 60s, 50s, & getting colder. It is almost Oct. after all.I’m glad the FBI will be getting involved with this fiasco. Hopefully they’ll get to the bottom of this. I’m afraid he’ll be somebody’s YES man. During all that I heard commentators say that his display of temper is NOT a good thing to have on the Supreme Court. They were saying you have to have a cooler temperament, more relaxed, & I guess more laid back. Do any of you ever remember seeing any of the judges lose their cool?
Oh Adele, I was speaking of large doses of greasy foods like super size fries, greasy burgers, anything soaked in grease, basically. We do need some oils in our bodies, to lubricate the joints, etc.
I guess I better get off before this crazy thing goes bonkers again.take care

Hi Adele,
I am so glad that Tillie is doing the exercises with the therapist. As far as meals just give her what she thinks that she can tolerate. If you are wanting things that are plain give her oat meal, cook meats in the oven mostly chicken, fresh veggies and toast. Sometimes dry toast is good and will help with an upset stomach. I use the cooking sprays on the sheets when I bake anything and use what seasonings that she likes. I would leave it up to her mostly. She may not like eating the foods that are good for her. I do not know anyone that will eat things like that all the time. Another thing that she may like is bread. Any type of bread it seems to go down really easy. These are just some things that I eat when I am having trouble with my stomach. I hope that it helps.
The FBI investigation may be a good idea. Hopefully they will get to the real truth if that can be done. It is going to be hard since it was such a long time ago and she did not seem to tell anyone about it. It is a shame that she did not tell a friend or someone. I will just be glad when this is all over with.
i am glad that the shot is working for you. When do you get the shot in the shoulder?I hope that it works as well as it does in the knee. Just take it easy and take care of yourself.
Have a great night and you will all be in my prayers.

Hi DD,
I am so sorry about Kay. She is such a good friend and I know that you miss her not being down the hall. That was really nice of her sister to take you to the hospital. It is better then having to take the bus.
It has been cooler here but we are getting into the 80’s next week. We are going the opposite way then you are. I wish that we would stay in the 50’s and 60’s but no such luck. Our weather here has always been crazy but we have gotten use to it.
The pictures that you have posted are really pretty. I love all the changing leaves. We will not have that this year because of the weather. They said that our leaves are not going to be pretty colors like in years past. We will see.
Kay will be in my prayers and so will you. Have a great night.

Hi DD
I am so sorry you are going to lose your friend. Last night, we watched that new show, A million little things- we had recorded it. I bawled my eyes out , and said to Gary I lost 2 of my best friends. Then i cried that I can’t seem to get out of my own way since last Sunday, and what a loser it makes me feel like. So….don’t watch that show right now. It will put you under.
I can’t even get myself to bake something. I have to get myself together, and cook for Tillie and Gary. We have had take out all weekend. Bobby is bbqing today, after the game. Al called to say he had some things that may help Tillie aorund the house, and we told him and Joanne to come over and eat with us. It will be a table full of very sad people. We are lucky we have each other. I am worried for you.
Please make sure you see Critt more. He will make you laugh, and you need that. I know it will not be the same as having Kay, but he is good for you, especially now. Maybe you can stay in touch with KAy’s sister too. Look at me and Joanne. We have become good buddies. God will bring you a new friend in some strange way. Spend as much time with Kay as you can. they say that those in her condition can still hear you, right up to the end. She will know you are there. I am praying for both of you.
I also feel a judge should not lose his temper, nor harbor political grudges. This whole thing has been an absolute mess. I am afraid for our country with the goings on in the Legislature, and Senate. Where are the adults?
Love you, DD. Please do something nice for yourself. I get a McFlurry when i am sad. Not that it makes a difference.

Hi Colleen
I feel the same way. I think we all need to say a prayer for the FBI to find the truth, whatever that may be. We need to get our faith back in our country again.
Funny you mentioned the bread. I woke up this am and said to myself….you have to start making bread agin for Tillie…..lOl I have been doing a lot of talking to myself.
How is your cold? How is Ron? the girls??? the grands??
So far, the shot they gave me last week in the shoulder is holding. So, I may not need that other one. I hope. the knee feels good, and all the pain is gone already, with the second gel shot. Those shots are amazing.
Have you seen that new show about the 4 friends, with the one who killed himself? OMG- cried my eyes out. I also love the new comedy about the single parents. I nearly died laughing, as I was a single parent, and it hit home, as i saw myself in a few of the characters. that one will be a huge hit. I hope….LOL
It is cooler here. See my post to Dd for things I forgot. She is having a hard time, and I feel so bad, as it sucks to lose friends, and see them suffer.
Hope you are all ok!
Love you!

Hi Ladies,
Well, it’s all over. Kay passed away this morning at 4 am. She’s in no more pain now. I imagine we’ll have a memorial for her. She had a lot of friends here. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. It’s not like it wasn’t expected. We all knew it would happen, her COPD was getting worse all the time. It’s just tooo bad that she took up drinking again. That didn’t help her any. Her family was really upset when they found out about it.
It’s been overcast most of the day, but it looks like the sun is trying to break thru.Well, I guess that’s all for now.
It’s October tomorrow!!! WOW!!!Have a great week everybody.

Hi DD,
I am sorry to hear about Kay. That will be nice if they have a memorial for her at the place where you live. This must be hard on her family to know that she was drinking. Maybe it was the only way she could stand the pain. It is hard to know why she was doing it. I doesn’t matter now she is at peace and will suffer no more. I hope that you are doing well. I know you were expecting it but it still is a shock when it happens. I guess that we just do not want to lose someone that we are so close to. You and Kay’s family are in my prayers.
I love that old house with all the pumpkins. Someone did a lot of carving. I wonder what they do with all of them when they are needing to be thrown away. Where would you find a place to put them all. Halloween is a fun day for all the kids and the parents. It is fun to see them all dressed up in their costumes.
Well that is about all from here. I am sorry to hear about Kay. You will be in my prayers.

Hi Adele,
My flu has now traveled to my stomach. I was really sick this morning but I think that is over with now. I really hope that none of you catch this. THis is a good reason to get the flu shot this year. We all really need one. I wish that I would have gotten miner earlier this year. Oh well it is almost over with now.
Everyone else has been doing pretty good. Brooklin had the cold but she is over it now and did not get the rest of it. Thank God for that. We had the doors and windows open for the last few days. Hopefully we have aired this place out and no more flu bugs are flying around.
I am so glad that the shot is helping your shoulder. Hopefully you will not have anymore trouble with it now. If you do they will give you another shot and that will take care of it. How many of those shots can you have? I hope that there is not a limit.
I have decided that I will not watch any serious shows this year. I think that we need to watch what is cheerful and funny. There are so many sad things that are going on right now and we do not need to watch anymore. There are so many angry people in the world right now and we need to get our joy back. I do not know how we lost it but we have and we need to get it back.
I am glad that you enjoyed that new show singles. I missed it we have been watching all kinds of things around here. Ron has been watching baseball and I watched a bunch of those cake wars today. I think that they were from 2016 though. They had a couple that were on this afternoon that were new. So I put them on the dvr and will watch them after I get off of here. I wish that I could make cakes like that for Halloween for the kids. They would get a kick out of that.
That is good that Al and his daughter is coming over for dinner. It will be nice for all of you to get together. Maybe you can make it a happy dinner. Talk about all the fun things that you have done together. It may be hard but it is worth it.
Well that is about all from here. Have a great night.

DD
I am so sorry I missed this post. Stuff going on here.
Even though you knew it was coming, it does not take away the hurt. I am so sorry you lost your friend. Today is my friend Maxine’s birthday, and I went in on facebook to say something to her children, and brothers. It is awful to lose our loved ones. You are in my prayers every day, especially now.
Love you!

Hi Colleen
I am so sorry you have been so sick. I hope you are much better by now.
Al and winnie have no children. Joanne is Winnie’s sister….LOL LOL Joanne has become my good friend, since Winnie died. We need each other, and that is good, as we share a huge loss.
I watched one segment of Halloween wars, and the Halloween cake show. Thank You so much for letting me know about those shows!!!
I was signed out again. I think I missed posts for October- I will check.
Things not good here. My neck has been killing me since I went for the ultrasound. Only good thing is it showed nothing of concern. No gall stones, no liver issue, accept mild fatty liver, which can be controlled by diet- limit fats, whihc I already do, as they make me sick….LOL I will nOT limit chocolate. period. If I did, people could risk getting murdered…..LOL
I hope you catch the Single Parents show- it is hysterical.
I cancelled my dr apt today, as my neck hurts too much to get showered this am. Tillie not doing well- lots of pain. One Alleve will nto handle it, and I am trying to get her to take 2 of them at a time. No doctor will prescribe anything for her pain, they want her to go back to the ER for an eval for pain management. She will not go, and begged me to just let her die here. If it gets as bad as it did, we will have to go. this just sucks. Sorry for complaining so much today. I am losing my “glass is half full, everything happens for a reason” outlook on life…..LOL
Loveyou!
Adele
