Hi Gail
LOL LOL My poor plumber who has known us forever, and comes in a moment’s notice. he may not come so fast anymore. You know, one holiday season the toilet in the main bathroom broke 4 days before Christmas. We were going to the Pops that night, and our friends were coming here, before the show. I called him, and said we needed a new toilet, that day, if possible. I left for work, and then called Tillie when I got there, to see if he had said when he would come. the trip to work took 30 minutes. Tillie laughed, and told me he was here and gone, and the new toilet installed. My friends were hysterical that I could get a plumber to replace a toilet in less than an hour, 4 days before Christmas. That has been the relationship between me and the plumber for years. He does live about 2 blocks away from us. My daughter is always horrified I still us him, because he is the most expensive one in the Town. I do not think he is, and would NEVER change as who gets that kind of service????
I can’t do a butterfly bush-cannot get one to live in the yard. I tried 3 times. We are going to do the milkweed thing. I hope that makes it.
the crock pot dinner is always a big hit. It is so simple, and they love it. I put a layer of potato, then carrots, than an onion, cut up, then the chuck roast- salt and pepper, spread about a tablespoon of the beef base on the top of the mat, then add a can of Kitchen ready tomato, and cook all day. The vegies get so tasty form the tomato and meat juices, it make sit real yummy.
Having trouble with Gary. the legs are so swollen the skin is breaking down, and the excess water is coming out of his skin. They are all on it- he now has to take the diuretic every day, and I have to wrap the legs up with gauze. I have a miserable cold. the stress is getting to me.
I am lucky everyone helps, but, nobody wants to look at, or wrap those legs….LOL I am so not a nurse. I hate this stuff. LOL
AdeleHi Dianne
I am going to friend you on here, so I can see your kitty.
We have a Dollar Tree. Hubby loves that store. We also have a Christmas Tree shops- you cannot believe the stuff they have. They also have (from time to time- it is hit or miss with them) brand name foods for a much cheaper price- like Pepperidge Farm cookies, Nestles baking chips, Planters nuts) they have even more than the Dollar tree.
I think you are about 3 hours behind us. It is just about 6 here, and I think you would be 3.
I hope you do not get any more El Ninno storms. You have had your share of rain. and flooding. Now, when we hear about a storm in Oregon, we will be saying a prayer for you!!!
We had a perfect day today- rare for March around here. It was in the mid 50’s.
Hope you are having a good day_ I am going to friend you….LOL
AdeleHi Colleen
Is the top a cotton blend? I have noticed when it is a blend, the fabric is much thinner. I also am not a fan of the thinner fabric. I like the all cotton tops.
that is funny that you said to get a small ham, as I was thinking to get a little daisy ham…..LOL We Quackers think alike!
I did not bake anything yesterday, and they were disappointed. It was just too confusing here. I had Marissa pick up a fresh loaf of bread on her way back- they liked that. I have not made a lot of bread lately- Gary is keeping me too busy. Over the weed, I did do the Brioche. I think I told you that- not sure. Well, the recipe makes 2 loaves, and Bobby did French toast for dinner that night, which was a huge hit. I did the Brioche to see if we liked it for Easter, because they had a way to make little bunny heads out of the rolls, if you did rolls instead of a loaf- got that form Better Homes and gardens. Although they loved the Brioche, they all said the Italian, with sesame seeds one I made, would go a lot better with the raviolis and meatballs. So, Italian it is.
I am afraid of an egg hunt this year. It is so early, and the risk of bad weather is too great. We may had to do something inside.
My plumber may never come back again….LOL Then, Tillie tells me the faucet is making a little nose, and I had to leave him a message. How embarrassing is that!
My new patriotic tops came today, and the new grey color of the zipper crops- love them!! I forgot to check the fabric content of the tops- I am pretty sure they are all cotton- have not tried them on yet.
With Gary and the pants thing- that shoulder sling is HUGE! It is big on it’s own, and has a huge block in between his body and the arm, to keep it away from his body. that is part of the problem- he cannot see around it. His OT person worked with him today, on getting the ants up- he thinks he may be able to do it. We will see- if not, she will try again.
Tomorrow is doctor day. God help me!
Have a good night.
AdeleHi Colleen
Gary goes back to the doctor on Wednesday. With shoulders, they do not want you in bed at all. They are afraid if you move the shoulder will come out of the socket. The PT person explained it this way. You have no control of your movements at night. The shoulder muscles have to heal around the ball, before it can be safely moved. That takes about 6 weeks. He does very minimal movements with PT- hardly moving the arm at all. The shoulder is not allowed to move at all, for fear of it coming out of that socket. Real weird. Not at all like a knee replacement, or even a hip. I remember with his hip that he could not move it above a certain point, but, you were still able to use it.
Read the post to Gail for a good laugh.
The swelling cannot be helped, until he gets back in bed, and the feet are above his heart. The PT guy is hoping the doctor will allow a 2 hour stay in bed to help the swelling bit he is not hopeful. I will be glad when this is all over. I cannot leave the house for more than 2hours because he cannot pull up his PJ’s when he goes to the bathroom. They have no gadget for that, because e the grabbers are too straight to help with any angles. So we are screwed on that one…..LOL
The crew will be here for Easter. Bobby suggested he make a gravy (Italian), with ravioli’s. They all voted yes, so we will not have ham this year. That gives me a break, so I can do a nice homemade loaf of Italian bread for the dinner. We will have a nice salad, or an antipasto with it. Of course there will be at least one desert per person, the edible chocolate centerpiece, and the Pizzaghiena, of course…..LOL
I think I will miss the ham, as we do not have it, accept on Easter. I like the vegies we have with ham, and Amanda’s favorite is mashed potato. Your dinner sounds good! You always make a good meal.
I hope you find the right pant for your new top. I will wear a dark colored pair of dream jeannes with my bunny top. I hoe it is not too hot, as it has 3/4 sleeves.
My back room looks like Christmas, with all the stuff for the kids’ baskets stored in there. I am so glad I got everything before his surgery.
hope your day is going well.
AdeleHi Dianne and Colleen
I cannot see the picture of the kitty. I only see an ocean scene. Am I doing something wrong?
AdeleHi Gail
It was nuts here this morning. We had Hetaher, Marissa, and Frankie for the business, then add the plumber (Tillie’s kitchen faucet broke), and the PT for Gary.
So……..I could not get my bra on this morning, as my arm did not want to reach. The plumber was supposed to come in the pm. So, I had my bra in the kitchen, waiting for Heather or Marissa. Marissa was first, so she was helping me fasten it, and the plumber starts to come up the stairs. I yell…..wait a minute do not come up…..and she finishes the latching. OMG, how embarrassing was that! I bet that story will be told at my funeral.
That must be a real pretty ring. What a nice trip for your anniversary. Take a pic and show us. I know what you mean, as there are a lot of days some rings do no fit on my fingers from the swelling too. I do not wear my jewelry around the house. Only my wedding band.
It is amusing how we all have our favorite decorations. Every time I see a butterfly, I think of you. So this morning Amanda tagged me on Facebook, and said we need to get a plant that attracts butterflies, so they will come to the yard. I respond by telling her she may want to come to the annual trip to the nursery, and she says yes, of course. She is too funny. Of course, I thought of you for that discussion!!!
I was up at the crack of dawn- 7:30, to get dinner in the crock pot. It needs to be done by 5:30 today, as Marissa and Hetaher will be here for dinner.
I have a cold. Probably got it form the hospital visit with Gary. I hope he does not get it.
My friend’s fiancé died late yesterday. Very sad. He had emphysema.
Poor Rocky. It is hard to see our pets fail. I hated that when I had the kitties.
It is in the high 40’s here today, and I have the kitchen window cracked open for some fresh air. I hope I don’t spread my germs.
Hope your weather is good too!!
AdeleHi Gail
I cannot believe I forgot to check it again. I should have known. I thought everyone was too bust to post….LOL
Hetaher came over with her old best friend, Angela. I have not seen her in years. They were best friends in grade school through high school. Then when we moved out here, and out of Boston, they lost touch. Angela now lives in the same Town. her mother and I were best friends, and did Girl Scouts together. Unfortunately, her mother died a few years ago, from cancer. So very sad. It was nice to see her, and when she left she said it was just like the old days.
I think you own every butterfly top Quacker has, and I have just about every summer top with a patriotic theme. Too funny!
How did Rocky do while you were gone so long?
I hope the weather cooperates for you concert in a couple of weeks.
Hope your weather is good all week. You need a break. It is going to be sunny here, and maybe 70 on Wednesday- that is good because that is the day Gary goes to the doctor. We hadonlyone visit form his peeps this weekend- OT, who came today. It was nice not to have so many people coming and going for a couple of days.
Hope you got some quiet time, while Greg was at Jenney and Adam’s. I like when the house is quiet for a while.
AdeleHi Dianne
We are all in our 60’s….LOL
I, like you, love my garden. But, I have to get my “Minnions” to do the digging. They are my granddaughters, who I have been calling Minnions, since my back surgeries.
I only plant annuals, because I just cannot do that much work anymore to have them die at end of season. My garden is 28 years old- we have been in this house that long. Gardens are a work in progress, for sure. I still have a couple of things I want to add this year. I do the cottage garden thing- where everything grows into each other to prevent weeding. there is no way, in God’s good earth that I could weed….LOL
I hope you do not get any more flooding in your area. Nobody can control the water, and it can be scary. that is why I say, give me a good blizzard any day. AL least snow can be shoveled. Each of our areas of this country have their own weather problems. We worry about each other, when we hear the news that one of the state’s one of us Quackers live is getting hit.
This is my second marriage. We both have grown kids, and grands. Together, we have 6 grands, and 2 great-grands. The great-grands are from my side only. I am an only child, and hubby, Gary, has one brother, who has Alzheimers. Very sad. My mother, who will be 90 soon, is German, and lives with us, in the in-law apartment. My Dad, was Italian. We are a multi-genrational, religious, and cultural family. We have Catholic, protestant and hubby is Jewish. My great-grands are half Dominican. That Italian/ German/ Irish/Dominican mix makes the most adoroable kids. (the x was Irish)
that gives you a little background on my funny life….LOL
Hubby has just had a shoulder replacement. Both of us have physical limitations, due to severe arthritis, and I have 2 curves in my back that affect all aspects of my life.
But, I love, love, love to sparkle and shine!
Welcome to the group.
AdeleOMG everyone!!!
I was wondering why I did not get any emails on our discussion. I forgot to check that bock on the bottom.
Welcome Dianne! What part of the country are you in? I am in Massachusetts. Close to the ocean, and north of Boston. How long have you been a Quacker?
Gail…..all is good. Gary is doing well. the main issue is the swelling in his legs, form not lying flat in bed. they do not allow a shoulder patient to sleep in bed- something to do with the shoulder remaining in place. he also has very limited exercises to do, not to stress the joint. he cannot lift anything, with either arm either. very different from any other joint replacement we have dealt with. He only gets achy when the weather changes, which is good. All he requires is a Tylenol- cannot take aspirin based because they have him taking a prescription aspirin to prevent any blood clots.
It is nuts here. he has at least one person coming every day- OT, PT, nurse, and home health aid to help him shower, until he can raise the arm. Today, nobody is coming, and it is heavenly.
Colleen- sounds like you had a great visit with the new baby and Owen. They grow so fast. I bet Aliza will be in an adorable Easter outfit. Can you believe it is 3 weeks away????
So, yesterday I made a new recipe- Madeline’s. They were a big hit. even the Home Health aid liked them….LOL I have to get another Madeline pan, as I had to use my Fall shapes pan, because they made 32, and the pan holds 16. You know Bobby, he said…”Why are some of the Madelines shaped like pumpkins and turkeys?” They were really easy, and they get this tiny crust on the outsid ethat everyone loved. Gary ate 5, and Tillie ate 3, while they were still warm.
Gail- how is Greg doing finding another worker?
I got the new patriotic short sleeve with the fabulous spray of stars across the top- blue and black. Has not come yet.
Hope Barbara is ok- has anyone heard yet? No more news from Cynthia, either?
the sun is shining today. We got 2 inches of snow last night, and it is supposed to be 70 on Wednesday. Yahoo!!!
