    Congratulations Barbara!!!!
What wonderful news to hear on Christmas. You will all be so happy with the new bundle of joy. Our Aizen turned 2 yesterday. Can you imagine how fast it goes? You wills see how quick the birth comes, and how fast the little one turns 1. Now we all have another grand to look forward to. Colleen’s first, and your second. Do you know the delivery day yet? I bet you will be busy getting your house ready for a baby to visit. then the shower, of course.
I love good news. Such a happy event.
I am proud of you. We have to be careful where our son’s girls are involved. We walk on eggs with them, or we are in the dog house.
Nothing planned here, accept watch the celebration’s on TV, and pray nothing happens, anywhere. It will be slippery out here tonight to go out. It will get better over the weekend, I think.
on to Jerry’s mother. May I suggest contacting the Elder Services you have in your state. They will be on this, like white on rice. Their advocacy in her name, is much better than Jerry getting in the middle of it. This is really considered elder abuse. I would also give the local police Dept. a call, to give them a heads up as to what is really going on, should they get another call. But, they may want to prosecute, so maybe not a good idea, if Jerry does not want to go that way. The hardest thing for the police when called in these situations, is to figure out who is the good guy, and who is the bad guy. They need some help there, get another call. Shame on all of them. How does anyone treat their elderly mother like that?? Jerry must be beside himself with worry. how is she doing back in her house? Will they give her checkbook back, and her be able to get their names off her accounts, without legal involvement? I feel so bad for all of you.
I hope you have a good New Years Eve, and a healthy, happy, New Year.

    hi Colleen
read my post to Gail, for all the info on the fridge, etc.
I am so glad you are all ok. We were really worried about all of you.
You have a lot more interesting menu items for tonight than we do, for sure! It is going to be quite boring here. I did not even bake today….LOL
We are covered for the food in the fridge, so that is good. The butter did not go bad, because I immediately threw it in the freezer, and the freezer section was fine. That is great, because you can only get that butter on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
How is the pregnancy coming along? She only has a few weeks left!
hope you have a good New Years Eve, and a Happy New Year!!!

    Hi Gail
I used to make these “zucchini puffs’ as an appetizer for New Years. But, after my Dad died, I don’t think I made them often. They are really good, but involve a lot of standing to fry them. Gary would never eat anything like that, so no need for tonight.
I am going to dust at least half the house furniture, and maybe more, if I can get it done. At least the bedrooms and office. Then, tomorrow I will get the tree down and do the rest of what I did not do today. My goal was to get everything cleaned, so I can spend my time next week putting everything away, closet by closet. What a sad goal for the New Year…..LOL
The fridge is back up and running. All is fine. It is so quiet you hear nothing when it is on. the repair man said the fan was probably broken upon delivery, and it took that long to go.
I am so glad we heard from Barbara!
you sound like you had a ball with the grands. they are so much fun. I got to talk to Aizen yesterday, and he told me he loved me. He is so cute when he says that. Jhonny said he took the Fisher Price bus we gave him to bed. it is his favorite toy, because he knows the bus brings his JJ back home from school. Jhonny is working all day, today, and had to go in at 6am, so they are going to try to get here tomorrow, as that is his only day off this week. As a temp, they have been working him real hard, but he doe snot mind. he loves the Post Office. I hope they will put him on permanent. He is such a good, and hard worker, and I hope they see that.
Poor Greg. I hope the foot doe snot get worst. he sounds very handy around the house. What a great idea to stop the pipes from freezing. I have heard of those floors to make them warmer in winter.
Just got Gary’s surgery day for his shoulder- Feb 3rd.
We are staying home tonight- too icy at night right now. I have no idea what we will eat, as this is the worst for take-out. I may just do a simple frozen chicken fingers and baked fries…..LOL
    Have a Happy New Year!

    Hi Gail
Our plans got changed by the weather. Gary and I were going to an early f dinner- not with all this ice. We have ice on top of the snow. I would not put my big toe out there….LOL
I hope Greg’s ankle is better- a lousy time to have to go to the ER, on, or close to New Year’s Eve.
read my post to Colleen for the fridge news. Oh no…..when we took the roast back upstairs, it stunk to high Heaven. That is gone, so it will be frozen chicken fingers tonight. The freezer remained frozen. I put that good butter in the freezer yesterday, and will take a chunk out as needed.(It came in 4 balls, instead of sticks)
I am afraid for Colleen and her family. I hope the flooding stops.
have you heard from Barbara? I hope to God she is ok. this weather has been very scary for a lot of people.
I hope you tow can still go out tomorrow night, and that Greg’s foot does not change your plans.
Clotted cream come sin a jar. We used to get it on a scone when I took the girls to the Wenham tea House for high tea….LOL. So, I got some for home. It is like butter, but not salted, and has a richer taste than butter. You should get one to try- you can get it on Ebay, form the Devon Cream co, English clotted cream. It comes form England- not made here at all for some reason. I like it on my English muffin, or the raisin bagel.
Hope your weather is better, and the ice is gone!!! I do not think Steph will take the kids out today, with all this ice. Plus, I could not go and get her, either.

    Hi Colleen
How is the water situation today? I am praying you do not get flooded. That is very scary. I have been watching the news, and wondering how you all are. Are your kids ok, where they live?
The roast got spoiled- I was doing it in the crock pot today. Not now. because I have the contract on the fridge, I was able to put in a claim for the lost food- it was all the dairy, and the roast. the rest of the food was ok, including the vegies and fruit.
I hope the grands don’t drive you crazy, because you cannot get them home right now! I am praying for all of you to be safe. this weather is awful.
We have all ice now, so I do not think Steph will be over today. the slushy snow froze. I do not think it will last long.
I think the people in NH and Mass. would be thrilled if they could buy our own tanks. That was a great law for all of you.
I am pooped from all the fridge cleaning, after swiffering the floors yesterday. All the food had to be taken out, to put in the fan. So, I purged the fridge, and then cleaned all the shelves while they were empty. Had to throw out all the leftovers form the holiday too. we did not want to take a chance, since the roast smelled so gross already. It was bought Sunday, and rotten by Tuesday. That says a lot for proper temperatures in the fridge.
    I hope the rain stopped.

    Hi Gail
We had a couple of inches of snow, and now, it is sleeting/freezing rain. I hope Heather and Frankie get back here safely. I hate them being out on the road in this weather. Gary should be back shortly- he only had a couple of people to see today.
I actually got the vacuuming done yesterday, and today’s task is the floor swiffering. The house gets so dusty with all the baking, and activity. I feel like the place is trashed.
Did I tell you the dam fridge broke, on Christmas Eve?? The fan motor stopped working. The part is being delivered today, and the repair man will be here this evening. yesterday, the awful nose stopped, and the water and ice feature stopped. Today, everything in the deli drawer was frozen. As I got some special stuff for the holidays, I will make a claim. I had some very nice cheeses form the Saxelbury Cheese co, and 4 jars of the English Clotted Cream, plus a very pricey butter I was using all through the holidays. The nuts, and grated cheeses should be ok. Did not have a lot foo cold cuts in there- mostly cheeses. I just re-ordered some foo the cheeses, as they were so good,,,,Gouda, a fabric wrapped cheddar, and a camerbert. All were made at small dairy farms in New England. I am ticked. They charge 20.00 just for delivery. We put the milk and roast in Tillie’s fridge this morning, as those are about to go. I was doing a pot roast in the crock pot tomorrow, but the roast changed color overnight. I will have Bobby look at it, or it may have to go too. the repair people told us the fridge would hold it’s temp, just run all the time. Not! I could scream, as I would have sent the meat and dairy downstairs last night. So far, the freezer is still holding. Tillie has her own stuff downstairs, so I cannot move everything down there- it is a much smaller fridge. I hope this gets fixed tonight- he is coming between 4 and 8.
What is up with all of us having appliance issues this holiday week????
It is still gross here, so far. It was supposed to stop this afternoon, but it does no look like it will.
I hope you get sun today, so you will feel better.
I am glad we are talking. I hope she comes over tomorrow, if the weather is better, as it is Aizen’s birthday. Will have to see if the ice stops.
those dumplings sound good. We had a run on things at the supermarket up here too. Bobby could not get any jumbo eggs, or green beans. the dairy was real low on stock too. Go figure! It could have been a combo of the holiday, and the storm coming. Who knows.
Hope your day is better…..have to go Swiffer the floors.

    Hey Colleen!
Glad you are ok, and not flooded, or snowed in. We are getting the storm tonight, into tomorrow. they are predicting snow first, then ice. Yuck! glad I do not have to go anywhere. Up further north, NH and Maine, they will get blasted with snow. All those who went up north for the week to play in the snow, will be getting the snow now.
I am glad we made up too. It was really bothering me.
I do not think anyone around here can buy their own gas tank, or if they can, nobody knows they can. I will have to share that piece of news, and see if it is possible in New England. that would certainly be a fabulous thing to do!
I hope you have a good time with the grand’s. they are so much fin to have around.
Ron certainly is amusing with his idea of how much popcorn a kid can have.
hope you have a great night- Quacker is on….yahoo!

    Hi Gail
Definitely get those tanks changed. Propane gets everyone nervous. We had that in NH. It is a lot more common up there, as it is more rural, and the campgrounds all have it too.
I hope his power, and can make the dumplings. So, what are they? We may all want that recipe.
I was going to start to put away decorations, but, then I changed my mind, as I always do it after the New Year.
Hope you are safe, and warm. These storms are brutal. I figure it will be our turn again, soon.
