    Hi Gail, and everyone!
I hope nobody has been harmed by these awful storms. I am concerned for Barbara, as she is in one of the states that got those awful tornados. I think of all the weather we all get, those are the worst. I have been praying everyone is alright. We are getting those storms tonight, into tomorrow. Mostly ice is predicted, so far- up north in NH and Maine, it will be snow.
I do not take down the decorations, until after New Years. When they all come down, it looks so empty.
We are still eating leftovers from Christmas Eve, and day. I would say I am getting tired of lasagna….LOL The cookies are disappearing at an alarming rate.
Yesterday, we went to Steph’s with some foo the kids’ presents. Amanda went with me, while Gary stayed home. His shoulder was killing him yesterday, as well as the rest of his arthritic self- it was raining here. Bobby also stopped by, to see them open some present’s. Steph is supposed to come by, to have them see Tillie, and open her presents, so she can see them. Tillie did not want to go over to Steph’s, because it is just too hard for her to get out these days, unless it is absolutely necessary.
We’ll, girls, I obviously gave in to our Mexican stand-off. On the anniversary of my Dad’s death, Dec 23rd, I made the call. because it is an emotional time for me, I had trouble leaving a message without breaking down. Steph called back, and thought someone died. Told her not yet, but that cannot be predicted. It scared her. It should have. She said I do not cry, so she got real scared. I felt my Nonna was in my ear saying,” this cannot continue- family is everything.” So, I caved. She is supposed to come over some time this week, as it is Aizen’s birthday on Wednesday. I hope they can make it, as Jhonny has been working every day, all day. His only day off was Christmas. He loves being a mailman.
I think it was great for Kendall to get the gift early, for the same reason- she can play with it all during vacation. I bet she was thrilled!
More than one person thinks the adult coloring books are porn. My friend Nancy has them, and her family thought the same thing. When I mentioned it here, Heather looked like a deer in the headlights, as she never heard of them before either. They are gaining in popularity. Nancy finds them very relaxing.
The winner of the baking show got a trophy. I think they got money, but, I am not sure. My old brain is showing….LOL
Hope everyone is safe, warm, and still has a roof over their head.

    OMG Gail!
Get out of the house, when they light it back up, just in case. It sounds like you are colder than we are. the heat was not on at all, that I noticed, the last 3 days. It has been in the high 60’s. How cold is it in your area?
We are having some kind of snow on Tuesday/Wednesday. It feels like we are in Florida. I would hate Florida at Christmas, that I know. It just does not feel like Christmas when it is this warm.
You need to get on the phone on Monday, and give them the “what for”. I am with you. They did not deliver any gas.
I hope you are all warm and cozy again.
Here is the funny part…..in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve, I woke up to a very loud sound. Like, Santa, I was walking all over the house- it was the fridge. every time the compressor comes on, it is VERY loud. Called Best Buy, and it takes them 5 days to order a part- they will come next Saturday. Still that is not as bad as a heat problem. I wonder how many Quackers had appliance issues over this holiday???? I bet Ron was opening and closing the freezer door at Colleen’s!
Hope all is well by now.

    Hi Gail!
Read my post to Colleen on the most popular gift- the furry animal throws from the Q.
Sounds like you all had a good items, accept for poor Kendall. Thank God they got a hold of it, before Christmas.
Here is my gift from Gary- scratch tickets. I won 10.00. LOL LOL LOL I wrapped 2 presents for myself under the tree- a set of those sponges form the Q that have the faces on them, in a cute little package, and a new butter dish to match with my Lenox Butterfly everyday dishes. I was happy. The rest of my gifts form the kids were gift certificates, a Minnion to put together, and a cute Snoopy sign that says, “You can’t be serious?”, and when you press the button, Snoopy laughs. Those 2 funny ones were from Heather.
Well, it is all over, accept for eating the rets of the left overs, and putting away all the decorations. That is my job for next week.
Hope you got a chance to talk to Brent, and found out he is happy. That would be a great Christmas present.
I bet we are all tired today.
Has anyone heard from Barbara? I hope she did not have any damage in those awful storms.

    Hi Colleen
Your prep sounds very yummy! I hope they all loved the food, and the company of their wonderful Nana and Papa.
They all ate well here…..LOL I think next year, I do not want to do the prime rib on Christmas Day. Too much rich food, 2 days in a row. I am thinking of saying, lets do the prime rib on Jan 1. I could not really enjoy a nice piece, because I was still full from the night before. I had a tiny end of one piece, and that was enough for me. We made scalloped potato’s, and the spicy broccoli/cauliflower thing, plus the glazed carrots recipe form the Chew. Too much sauce/fat. I had tiny bits of each. The rest of them had much larger portions, and I sent the leftovers home with Heather.
I have to say, the gift that was the biggest hit, was those furry throws from the Q, with the animal head, and paws- to put over your head, and hands. They all went nuts over them. Eveyrone enjoyed their presents, and I have my corner of my room back, until the Christmas in July sale next year.
hope you all had a great time, and Santa bought you what you wanted.
Now, we start the dismantling of the holidays next week- yuck.
I attached the pic of the Italian bread I made. Nobody ate one roll…..LOL

    hi Colleen
if all my Quacker friends arrived with boxes, it would take a while for me to stop crying, and then we would all bake together!
I am glad you are keeping it simple. You need a break too. That is why we do take out tonight, to give us all a break, so we can all have fun, with a simple clean-up. I have the bread dough rising. that is the only thing I am doing today.
I am attaching the last cookie pic.
Hope you have a great night, and Christmas tomorrow!

    Hi Colleen
I hope you got a good night’s sleep, and feel more rested aft yesterday. I hope you had some time to enjoy your mother’s company, while you were watching the great niece/nephews there.
I do love to bake. To me, it is relaxing, and entertaining, at the same time. I am pretty neat when I do it, so I do not make much of a mess, unless I spill something….LOL
Last cookie today is the Italian Anise one- Gary’s favorite. Tomorrow is the big day! All the presents will be opened, and the mess all gone. Then, just dinner on Christmas. Bobby picked up the roast last night.
There is only one cookie I did not try, that we love. Pfefferneuse- a German spice cookie. I have never done that one, and I may try it for New Years Eve.
Baking is not everyone’s thing. I totally get that you are goings to buy them. Between your backhand your stomach this year, that is enough to deal with. I hope the New Year will bring you a calm, quiet stomach, and less pain in your back.
Does anyone else feel a little protective over this new “ugly sweater” phrase going around??? I love our sweaters, and I love the ones I see on TV too- none are ugly to me.
Well….I better go do the last cookie, before Gary and Heather get back from their routes.
I will post the last pic!
    Love ya!

    hello girls.
here is the Jelly Roll. Gary felt it came out so good, he ate 4 pieces…..LOL I always give him the end pieces, because they never look great. Bobby ate 2 ends, and the rest is history. because I made so many different ones this year, I made only a single batch per cookie. usually, I double some of them.

    One more to go…..yeah!!!

    Hi Gail
the head is a tiny bit better today. Tillie says my voice is better.
I do love the Minnions. This year, I got JJ the operation Minnion game, and a microphone thingie that makes your voice sound like a Minnion. Hope he gets a kick out of them.
I posted the snickerdoodle cookie, and will post the Jelly Roll, when it is done. Waiting for the dough to get more firm- too hot in here. I cannot believe it will be 70. this kitchen will be un-bearable with all the cooking going on.
piper is hysterical! I wonder as it gets colder, if she will don some sparkly clothing? Maybe she is waiting for Quacker to make kids clothes.
It is a very good idea to be able to have your own space. At least that way, everyone can catch a break, now and then. That is why we got this house, as the in-law is not below ground. It is a raised ranch, so you have to come up a set of stairs to the main house.
How is your baking coming? I am dying to be done today, so I can get into the shower. Not much more to do, just roll out the dough, add the ingredients, and then frost after.
hope your day is going well. Happy prep!
    Adele
