Hi Sue
thank you so much, as I would never have known that. Do they have temperature limits in the oven?
Have a great holiday season!
AdeleHi Colleen
You will love those bags, for sure! Made it a lot easier, and faster.
I was surprised at Bobby too, as he always wants to kick it up a notch. I took all my recipes and wrote down the amount of lemons and eggs I need, so I will not run out. Also put aside some vegie recipes for “The Chef’ to consult on. I do all the holiday cooking- the turkey, prime rib, and baking. Bobby is always here to help with the hard things- getting meat in and out of the oven cutting the meat, and clean-up.
So, for Christmas Eve, I decided to do an Italian bread, since I am not cooking that dinner, We do an Italian take out that night because bobby gets home late, and I do not want to spend 2 days in a row in the kitchen .
We both have to take it easy for the next week, or we will hurt ourselves. I was gong to vacuum the living room and dining room, and Gary did it for me this morning. I thought that was sweet.
I absolutely love those temptations baking dishes. they do a better job than the ones I have. I am so glad I got that one Pumpkin pan, or I would not have known about them. I love that they have ceramic, and plastic covers- good for the oven, and the leftovers. I am now a big fan of theirs! This one set came with a platter I will use for Christmas.
It is cold here today, and will bet warmer again by the holiday. I better get in all my visiting, as I fear I will be in all January through March again…..LOL
I had to record the Chew yesterday, as I had the dentist apt. I was thrilled with it, as the dentist considered it a re-do, and did no charge me for the chipped filling in my front tooth. I felt like she gave me a Christmas gift.
Hope your weekend goes well.
AdeleHi Gail and Barbara
Not sure if I mentioned how nice it is to work at St Jude’s hospital. they do such great work for the children ,and their families. What a wonderful place to work, where you feel you are maiking a difference in everyone’s lives.
hope your dinner goes well.
AdeleHi Gail
if I have time today, I am going to on demand the movie and view it in a new light.
I hope your blood work will b normal in 3 weeks. I think it is a good idea to wait until a few weeks after the holidays, as we all eat things we usually do not eat this time of year. I will say a prayer that is all it is.
Did you get the bags Q that I did? Absolutely love them! Made everything so easy.
Have you heard form Brent? How is the job, and girlfriend?
Any news on Debbie, or Barbara?
The bake-a thon starts tomorrow. I sat and counted all the eggs I need, and lemons-everything else is already here. Not sure on the vegie for Christmas. I pulled out a few I had saved form the Chew, and magazines. I like to try different fancier vegies for the holiday. I will consult with Chef Bobby….LOL. I have conceded on the prime rib. But, because we are having fewer people we may cut the roast in half, and cook the rest on a Sunday. Maybe then, I can squeeze in the Chew’s recipe….LOL
I got those polish oblaten yesterday. I found the oblaten on Amazon, ordered the last one they had, and then got a message saying they could not fulfil the order. I am glad I ordered another one of the Polish ones that did not have the prayer cards width them, because I can break them up into smaller pieces for the bottom of the cookies. When I was ordering those, 2 cookbooks came up on the bottom of the page. One was a German cookie cookbook, and a German food cookbook. I got both of them, and gave them to Tillie to read last night. She was so happy with them, and told me a lot of them were recipes her mother made. I should have saved it for a Christmas present for her. If it were not for you mentioning the tradition on here, I would have never found those books for her. Thank you, for making Tillie’s day!
Hope you have fun at the party, and dinner tonight.
AdeleHi Gail and Colleen
Poor Piper and Jenny. I hope everyone is better for her party today, and tonight. It is miserable to be sick on the holidays.
It is funny that Ron keeps opening the door, and thinks that stops the freezer…..LOL
AdeleHi Barbara
That story about going out to dinner was hysterical. That speaks to his biggest fear about you and Jerry, that something will happen to either of you. I think all our kids get a little freaked out, when they realize, even for a moment, that life is not forever. You really scared the be-Jesus out of them…..LOL
I bet Jerry said no to Sarah because she is a woman, and expected your son to get right out there, when she told him you were outside with groceries. Fathers feel their sons need to have ESP, where they are convolved. Gary would have done the same, exact thing. Men have a way of putting gas on the fire, as they say. Happens here all the time.
I will bet your cookies taste as good as mine, or better! Your neighbors are lucky to have you on their street. You made their day, my dear. Everyone loves a good cookie.
by any chance, did you gate a pic of the dogs and kitty in their holiday finest? I would have loved to see that one. Cats hate that kind of stuff. It must have been funny.
Sarah’s changing schedule will wreak havoc on her inner clock. that is not easy. I hope it does not sour her mood.
So, here the Bake-a-thon starts on Sunday. It will be funny, especially if they interfere with my cookie schedule. I have it posted here, on the kitchen table. LOl, or should I say, Ho, Ho ,Ho?
hope you are having a good day…..and I agree, this world is scary, very scary. The debates are capitalizing on people’s fears, so are their commercials.
Happy preparations to all!
AdeleHi Gail
Now, I am going to have to watch Groundhog Day again, as I have a new reason to see it!
I got “nixed” on the prime rib recipe. Bobby was not in favor of that one at all, he said mine tastes great with just the salt and pepper on it. We only have it on Christmas, so he does not want to fudge abound with what’s already good. As we will be having less people, if the meat is too big, I will cut some off, and maybe try it that one just for us on a Sunday. We get ours at BJ’s, because they have huge pieces, and it is Angus beef. I don’t even want to know what this year’s price will be- it is always way over 100.00. But, this year I can cut off a significant piece, if the group stays smaller….you never know around here this year. So far, there will be 9, instead of 13 for dinner.
I hope your doctor appointment goes well, and you get good news today.
I met my friend Nancy and Gerald for brunch. Gerald just retired, and found out his daughter is pregnant. (he took over my job when I retired) This will be his first grandchild, and he is thrilled.
Got all my wrapping done yesterday, and the back is good again- thank God!
Hope you are having a good day!
AdeleHi Colleen
The back is better. Thank God, as it will be a busy week. I wrapped gifts all day yesterday, and got it all done. I love those bags I got form the Q- the ones you just pull the string, and it makes a pretty ruffle on top- ne need for even tissue paper. It makes wrapping a lot easier. I just wish they had more extra large bags in each pack, or you could buy just large bags, as you use those the most. I like to put multiple things in each bag, so there is less to find under the tree- with 13 people it gets confusing. everything us under the tree. Yahoo!
My gift for myself came today. On the In the kitchen with Dave show Sunday, they had a fabulous Temptations set I got for myself. I already had a 11×13 baker, but you always need 2 of those. the oval casserole is smaller then the one I bought, so I can use that for smaller dishes. Also had a set of bowls, and little prep bowls, that are actually measuring cups. All pieces are in the dishwasher, and ready for me to purge the cabinets, and decide where these will go. Heather will get the pieces I get rid of….LOL She is happy too…..LOL
I told Bobby about the Chew recipe for prime rib, and he did not like it at all. he said holy wants salt and pepper on his perm rib, as it comes out great.. he doe snot want me to use the wine in the bottom either. I was surprised by that, as he always likes to “joosh it up”.
I rarely fry anything. Bobby does the chicken cutlets every once in a while, and everyone is thrilled. We just could not have all that fat a lot, as it is not good for you. I love to bake my meals, or crock pot in the winter.
It is gross here today. Gong to pour shortly. At least it is not freezing.
hope your day is going well.
AdeleHi Gail and Colleen
I took 2 Alleve’s, and did the ice 3 times. I also walked around with my floor Swiffer/mop, and that helped too. (not telling Gary that one, or he will freak out) Staying too still is not good, it is a balance. So far, that level of pain went away. I am not going to push it. Decided to amend dinner to the frozen chicken fingers, and fries. I will have Gary get the pans out of the oven, and put them in to cook. No bending/reaching today, that’s for sure.
Did you see the Holiday how last night? I am really enjoying it. I wished the had that on more than once a year.
I hope you hear form Brent soon on when he is coming back for the holidays.Colleen’s Christmas dinner sounds quite yummy. I watched the Chew, with ice on my back. I loved the chicken casserole dish , and wrote that one down. Also loved the way Michael did the Prime rib. I do mine by rubbing it with salt and pepper, and putting some water in the bottom of the pan, and then baste occasionally. I like the idea of using some red wine and beef stock instead, and think I am going to try that on Christmas. I may even do the rub he did. I have to worry that Gary “does not like the taste” around here, so the rub may not be done. Also liked they got the one with bone in, and had the butcher cut off the bone, and used it for a rack…..and then ate the yummy ribs. I will have to think about this one…..LOL
hope everyone is good today. the rain stopped, and it is very blustery.
