Hi Colleen and Gail
Have to make this one quick, as I hurt that dam back in the middle of the night again. I am sitting here on ice, and have to get in the recliner to rest it.
What is wrong with the Catholic Church????? How can they deny a child, no matter what the parent does? We need to tell the Pope.
It is easy to do the glitter for snow- all you do is first finish all the painting. Then, you paint glue on where you want glitter, and keep pouring it on to cover it all. I used to love to go to ceramics.
So, Gail lives near the place they did that movie- I loved that movie!
I do get annoyed when they call them ugly sweaters- our stuff is beautiful. People need to glitter a little to feel happy.
Poor little Piper! So awful to when it is the holiday time. I hope the antibiotic works fast. You were lucky you did not go over.
Talk to you sisters later- going in the chair
AdeleHi Gail
I was able link, and read the piece on ONP. What a nice article. All the work you all do is fabulous. Making kids smile is what the holidays are all about. God bless all of you for the good work you are doing for the children!
AdeleHey Gail
the snow on the roof is glitter. After we were done, we painted the roofs with glue, and then did the glitter all over. All these years, and it has stayed. I made those in the late 70’s or early 80’s.
Did you not do that with yours? It way just what my teacher did with all of them, and a lot of the other holiday decorations too.
I am going to try that link.
AdeleHere is the other one……
Hi Gail
Tillie did have to sign papers. I am not sure about now, though. I have the same issue going on over here. Neither JJ , nor Aizen have been baptized. I did the emergency one for JJ, when nobody was looking. I need to do it to Aizen too, accept now it is harder, because I just cannot gab him, and take him to the sink for the water. I also feel very uneasy about their not being baptized. I hope when they grow up, they will choose a religion themselves. Religion is so important. Not necessarily going to Church, but, following the beliefs, and praying.
That was an awful thing the priest did to your Piper. I also do not think Jesus would be happy about denying a child a baptism. What is wrong with him? I bet the Pope would not be happy about that, either.
I never heard of the oplatki. But the German’s use that to put cookies on and bake them- they call them o’blatten- not sure of the spelling. I tried to find some for the meringue cookies I make, and nobody had them. Could not find them on-line, because I think I am spelling it wrong. I am going to google your spelling, and see if it is the same.
Gary cannot even see the nose on his face. God bless him. He said he noticed I had gloss on my lips, once I made an issue out of it. I may as well give it up…..LOL
It was fun seeing our old friends. We did not go to an interesting place- only to the 99. Your venue sounded a lot more interesting, and decorative. I did get comments form the waitress, who loved my sparkly outfit. I was the only person in the entire restaurant in Christmas attire. What is up with that??????
I am attaching 2 pics I just took with my old phone of the last remaining 2 Christmas houses I made in ceramics. Also have a white tree, with green bulbs- did not take that one out, as I ran out of room. Plus, where I usually keep that one, is too accessible for a 2 year old. I got a tiny tree for that spot, that is more kid friendly for now. When he is older, the ceramic one will be resurrected.
Hope you are enjoying all your lights!. I know you have my garland……………. Can you believe it has not been located? I am hoping I can get 2 nice ones on sale in a week, for next year. Now, I will have to make all the bows again..
Forgot to say… so we are on the way home last night and Gary says, “Look, you cannot see if anyone’s tree is decorated or not- all you see is their lighted trees in the windows…..LOL
It is rainy here today! Took Heather to my back doctor this morning at 7:30. We had to go to a satellite office for her appointment as there was nothing left before the holidays for an appointment. She has a curve in the bottom of her back, and hip dysplasia. When she took in her groceries last week, she really hurt it, and it was killing her, all down one leg. they gave her prednisone to get the swelling down, and she has another apt in 3 weeks to see about an MRI, and possible shot. When she was little, she had one leg a lot shorter than the other, which caused scoliosis. She had surgery to lengthen the shorter side. They broke her hip in half, and took bone from the top of the hip, and grafted it into the hip, until it all “gelled together”, thus making that leg longer to match with her other leg. That is coming back to haunt us. Steph also had a shorter leg, but, we opted for the knee surgery, which slowed down the growth of the longer leg, so the other could catch up- a much simpler surgery and recovery. Heather was on crutches for 3 months.
AdeleHi Colleen and Gail
Gail- I also hope that Brent finds a good job down there. He deserves a good, fresh start with happiness and enough money to be comfortable.
Who in the world took the naked selfies? They would pay us NOT to post ours, should we be so bold…..LOLColleen
It would have made a great picture of me and Heather, that we could have laughed at, for years.
Did I eve tell you my Mom had to sign papers with the Catholic Church that she would rise me Catholic, before she married my Dad? that was in 1948. Is that not a hoot? So, I was raised in my Dad’s religion, which is really unusual. It is usually the mother’s religion that dictates what the kids will be.
Had fun at dinner. It was nice to see them. Joanne just lost her husband this past summer. I know I spoke about going to see him when he was so sick, and then he died about a week later. very sad. The other couple was Joanne’s sister, Winnie and Al. We have been friends for about 20 years. It was nice to get together, and we have to see each other more regularly. Life goes by too fast. I got a compliment for the waitress on my sparkly Quacker outfit….LOL
It sounds like you had a good time yesterday, at your party. I enjoy getting together during the holiday season, it is so festive! We are becoming party animals. Tired party animals. I am pooped….LOL
Hope you had a good day!
AdeleHi Gail
Our dinner out is today. A late afternoon, so we miss the lunch and dinner crowds….LOL Here is a funny for today…..so, I put on some makeup. A little eye makeup- just a small line, where you would put on eye liner, some face makeup- now I use the tinted moisturizer from Clinique, as it looks mort unnatural. I think I look pretty god, and I ask Gary how I look. He starts squinting his eyes to look, and says he cannot see anything. So, either I have done such a great job that I just glow, without the look of any work, or it is useless to do anything at my age…..LOL
Life is just so funny as we get older. But, today I will sparkle with my new Quacker black shirt, with the big Christos tree on font. I have on my black crop animal pocket pants, that fit perfect as pants on me, and will put my black animal jacket over them. It is too hot for my Quacker Christmas scarf. Can you believe that in new England?????
Did you take any pics of that new restaurant? Sounds like that man is quite the visionary. Was the food as good as the place looked? There are a lot of people in this world who have so much talent.
Well. The visit with Steph went well, accept for her continued anger toward me. She asked Heather why she came over, and then told her it better not be about Christmas, because she has no intention of coming over here. So, I said to Heather,”Did you tell her she was no invited?” Heather said she did not, but did tell her she had no intention of speaking about the holidays, to which Steph had a very puzzled look on her face. She is waiting for me to cave, and call her, and I am waiting for an apology from her. Not. And so, it will continue. Mexican stand-offs have no winners. I have to say, this is the first one I have been involved in. I have always felt like is too short for these conflicts, and acted accordingly. When they go on too long, too much water accumulates under the bridge. When Steph did no come for Hanukah, and replied ,”LOL” to Heather’s request for her to bring JJ, that only angered me more. So, here we are today. All losers. Not a good place to be in, and my tree will remain un-decorated…..even though the rest of the house looks like the Mall….LOL The saga continues. (Tillie is more pissed than I am, as she has not called her, either, to see how she is.)
Hope your day is going well, and that you get your decorating finished.
Adelehi Gail
A Yankee swap is when everyone brings a present for the same cost. You put all the gifts in a pile, and numbers in a bowl, and pick out a number. Number 1 picks their gift first. From number 2, on, you can keep your gift, or take someone else’s. The last number gets to pick from all the gifts, so it is better to get a higher number. Then, at the end, number 1, who usually gets screwed the most (LOL) gets to pick from all the gifts for the one they want to keep. It is hysterical, as people who like their gift, try to hide it, so everyone forgets what they have.
You made me laugh about Steph having the missing garland….LOL
Heather went over to her house yesterday, for tea. We will have to see what happened. I did not hear from Heather. That can be either good, or not so good news. Amanda has been going to visit her, but Marissa is really mad about the whole thing, and has not been over to visit. Bobby is staying out of the line of fire, but, has called to ask about the gifts for the kids for Christmas. Tillie has not called, nor has Steph called Tillie, which is making my Mom real mad. We have 2 more weeks to come to some resolution. I am waiting to hear what happened yesterday with Heather.
It is odd not having all those holiday parties to attend. I was always getting ready for some party. Tomorrow, we are meeting 3 old friends for dinner, one of which just lost her husband.
I tried as best as I could to find words of comfort for Barbara. It is so hard when these things happen, as we all know. I hope it made her feel a little better, if, nothing else than we all go through this from time to time.
Hope you are having a good day!
AdeleHi Colleen
Gary’s kids are not religious at all. They are actually Protestant, like their mother. Tommy’s kids are both Catholic, and Julie’s son is also Catholic. (Julie is the one who died 2 years ago)
It is nice that Gary’s family includes me in their prayers. I like that.
too bad I did not have a picture of Heather’s face when I grabbed the cookie tin……LOL LOL everyone was laughing. She makes the same cookie, but her recipe is a little different. She makes good ones too. Maybe she will make a batch for Christmas this year, and we can have a contest.
I do so love hearing the stories of our grands. They are just too cute. I love how innocent they are. That is lost so fast, as they grow. Once they don’t believe in Santa, we are all done.
I miss all the Christmas parties I used to go to when I was working. We had an office party, then an in office monthly staff meeting with a pot luck, and Yankee Swap, a foster parent party, and one for my faster parent support group. Last, but not least, we had a unit one, that I used to host. That is the bad part of being retired. you miss a lot of office parties.
hope you have a good time at your party tomorrow!
