Heather and Amanda have tattoos. Heather has 2 small ones on either shoulder. Amanda is more bold. She has a big bird on her arm, and intends to get one of those “sleeves”. We are all cringing. Steph has a “J.J. on her inner wrist, with a crown over it. That is it for tattoos here. I hate them too. I just feel they will be sorry when they are older. It is great that your daughter was able to get hers removed. I think the tattoo removal business is going to skyrocket in the next 20 years.
Gail is right- people cannot be judged by their body art, or piercings. The nastiest person can have none.Gail
I bet you will miss the ONP party this year, even though you want to give the others a chance to do it.
I really hope this will be the one for Brent, and he is happy. he deserves it. What he went through is so terribly sad.Have a good night, girls
AdeleHey Gail
Whenever one of those terrorists do something awful and then end up dead, this is what I say, “So, today, when they go see Allah, and realize He belongs to all religions, what do you think they will say then?” I hope we live to see the day, when all religions realize we all have the same God, and all He wants is for us to get along with each other, and treat each other as we wish to be treated.
I do not know if Orthodox Jews allow female Rabbi’s. I would think that they do, but,, I have never asked that question.
Read my post to Barbara….the tree is still naked, accept for an Angel. I think I have lost my mind. Everything else is decorated to the hilt. The only other thing that is missing, is the garland on the stairs, only because we could not find it. So, I wonder if Steph has it? LOL LOL
Poor Piper! I hope it does not last long. Gary and I had our “over 65” flu shot. how funny is that, there is a special one for the elderly.
Still warm here. it is weird. I hope we don’t get blasted like we did last year, after January 1.
Next week I start wrapping. Amanda is coming over to help, on her day off. Love my Minnions!
Hope your day is going well.
AdeleHi Gail
We do light a menorah, for the entire 8 days. It is an electric one. I do not like the ones with candles, because the candles are very small, and tall, and not one Menorah I have ever seen holds them tight enough to be comfortable with lighting them. At least not for me. Of course, Gary doe snot know, nor do a the prayers that go with the lighting. We may as well say a Hail Mary when we light it every night. that man does not know anything connected with his religion. His brother is a lot more religious. One of our niece is very religious, and I wouldn’t be surprised, if their oldest daughter becomes a Rabbi. I enjoy it at my SIL’s when they do the prayers, and they are kind enough to include me with a piece, as well. I think this way- it does not matter how you pray, or what you call God, He is the same person we all pray to, no matter what, and as long as you do pray, that is all that matters.
the cookies came out great, with just 2 hours in the fridge. I was lucky! They were a big hit, so I will make them again. As popular as they are, I have never made them. Heather used to make them all the time, when she was married. Here is a funny one for you…….so, Heather come sin, and eats a cookie, and says, “It is not cooked enough”. I grabbed the tin and said, “No more cookies for you, if you complain.” LOL LOL You should have seen all their faces- everyone was laughing.
I loved the shows last night. I, like you, love to laugh. It is so good for the soul. Without laughter, how would we get through all the difficulties in life? Laughter is a gift from God, and there are a lot of people who do not see how important it is.
Thank you for the Hanukah wishes!
Hope you are having a good day.
AdeleHi Colleen
That Kaylee is a riot! It is “her crush”…..LOL Last year JJ told us he had a girlfriend, and we nearly died laughing. I think it is a scream that these itty bitty kids think they are in love. It is cute. I love the looks on their faces when they talk about their girlfriend/boyfriend. these are the things we will remember most about them.
I did not like what they did on the Chew today. Nothing I would have tried to do. I did like the sauerkraut/cabbage thing from yesterday.
The cookies were a hit- the chocolate crackle ones.
I used that automatic potato peeler I got form the Q, and what a life saver that was! I love that gadget. I wash the potato’s, and let them completely dry, then peel them with the peeler. You only have to get a tiny bit off the top and bottom of the potato, and you can do it all sitting down. Then, I had to grate them in the food processor, and mix up the mixture- all done. Heather fried them for us, and she did a good job. So, I did not have to stand at the stove, which is hard for me.
We are very lucky we have daughters who help. I love that the grands help too. All my Minnions, as I call them.
the kids do like to celebrate both. the only ting missing, is that Gary does not do any of the prayers, or blessings. He has no clue what to do, accept eat the Latke’s. God bless him, he is the worst Jewish man I have ever seen. The kids here learned more about Hanukah in school, and did the dreidle (not sure of spelling) song, and he knew nothing of it. They were about JJ’s age when they did that. I think it is good to respect everyone’s religion, no matter if they practice it, or not.
Hope your day is going well.
AdeleHi Gail
How is Rocky? I hope he is not having any affects from his fall.
read my post to Colleen about the things I am doing today, as I have to get my butt in gear. Forgot the cookie dough has to be refrigerated for 3 hours, and am now under the gun to get them done, and on to the Latke’s.
So, I am baking today! I really missed it. Makes the house friendly.Happy Hanukkah to any of my Jewish Quackers! I hope they got those fabulous Hanukkah shirts this year!
Adele
Hi Colleen
the Chew did a segment on the Latke’s today. How funny they chose today to do it, when I am doing them tonight. Michael also did a fabulous recipe with cabbage, and dumplings that I am going to see if I can copy form the internet. My Latke’s are simple- potato, eggs, a little flour onion and tiny bit of garlic. I am also making those chocolate crinkle cookies today. I forgot the dough has to be refrigerated, so, I will be baking them shortly.
thank you for the information on Alzheimer’s. I am going to share it with Gary, because he feels so bad when he hears what his brother is doing. It helps to realize it is normal for the disease.
your granddaughter must be an absolute scream to be around. I love kids with some spunk.
well….better go and get the cookies formed….LOL
AdeleColleen…………for got to say, the story about Ron and the star is hysterical. I am seeing a star wrapped up in rope??????????
LOL LOL
AdeleHi Gail
I really have to look around for a new tree for next year. that will take some time, for sure. I have not found the garland. Gary thinks they missed it in the attic.
I loved the gingerbread houses they made. they were spectacular. I recorded the baking show last night, because I was watching the new “Telenovella”. The star is the one who was on Desperate Housewives, and I lover her. Of course, I cannot remember her name right now- the little Spanish woman, who was called Gabrielle on the show. She is so adorable, and a good actress to boot. I have to say, it did make me chuckle, and I needed a chuckle yesterday.
I did find Colleen’s pictures. Her granddaughter is the cutest. Marissa and Amanda were by here a little while ago. they left to do errands, and both have to get to work this afternoon. Marissa is going to get me a Christmas candle, as I am all out of those scents.
It is very gloomy here today. Makes you feel gloomy.
I forgot to tell Colleen the story about Ron and the star for the tree is hysterical. I have a vision of the star being all tied up with rope- that is what Gary would do….LOL
I printed a few recipes from the King Arthur website this morning- more cookies to try, if I decide to. They always have something new going on. Do you not baked anything since turkey day? What is up with that? Way too much decorating going on here…..LOL
Hope you are having a good day, and that your foot is feeling good.
AdeleHi Colleen
Potato Latka’s are made of shredded potato, eggs, some flour and salt/ pepper, a little garlic and a little chopped onion. Yo mix up the mixture, and fry them in about an inch of oil, the size of a small pancake. Most people put sour cream on them. For some reason, I like to mix in a little sweet, so I top mine with a tiny bit of jelly. Also used to top them is homemade apple sauce, which I did one year, but Gary likes his plain, so why bother! They are very tasty, and the oil can clog your veins, like all Jewish cooking. We always do Hanukkah here, as my BIL and SIL do theirs with their kids. The last holiday, which was in the Fall, we did at the nursing home with my BIL, and his family. He has since been in a hospital for a while, and just got moved to a different nursing home, that handles all Alzheimer patients. he could not go back to the other one, as they could not keep him safe there. He is getting worst. Why he ended up in the hospital, is because when he gets frustrated at night (the sun downing thing) he was getting nasty. They changed his meds, and worked on his night anxiety, and have him sleeping a little better- he was up all night. It is very sad, all the way around. Since heis now at a nursing home, and seems to be doing better there, so we will be visiting soon. I feel so bad for my SIL, her daughters, and their grands. It is such a nasty disease.
I found your pictures, and commented on them. Your granddaughter is adorable. What a cutie!
It is gloomy here, which makes everyone feel gloomy. I have The Chew on. Nothing spectacular so far, for today.
Hope you and Ron are feeling a little better without your adorable puppy. I feel so sorry about what happened.
