    Hi Sue.
Well said. I am sure we all agree with you, those that post, and those who do not.
I am very happy to hear from you, even on a difficult day like today. I hope you keep adding to our conversations.
We are not safe anywhere, you are so right. What a coward to attack a center for disabled people. What kind of monster does that?
Praying for all those people who are still living, and for the families of the people left behind, who were not as fortunate. Either way, none of them will ever be the same again.
God help all of us, and protect the people who lay their lives on the line every day, to make sure we are safe.

    Hi Gail
That poor bird. I cannot believe he is still at it. I swear he has brain damage by now, and that is why he is still doing it.
So far, 5 of my Quacker shirts have sold. I have only 2 more to sell, and 3 Liz Claiborne ones. I find this so very amusing. It is as if I have a little store. I only have 2 Annalee’s I can part with so far. I took a break form decorating, as my back was getting real sore. I still have the one closet, and then Bobby will bring up the 2 bins that have bigger Annalee;s, and the decorations for the tree. I will be all doen by next week.
OMG….The Chew is having an ugly sweater contest today. So far, I love all of them….LOL You have to watch it- Michael Simone is in a full holiday suit, with hat.
Tomorrow, I am going to meet Nancy and Sue. Sue is doing a craft we are going to help with, and then have lunch together.
So my traditional, do them every year, no matter what, Christmas cookies are: Jelly roll, Lebkuchen, Vienna Bars, a Cranberry melt in our mouth tiny round sugar cookie, and then I add one or 2 more, depending on the mood of the year. Which ones do you make?
I love your, and Colleen’s Christmas stories. Mine is kind of funny. because Tillie always hated getting up early, and because the German’s do their presents on Christmas Eve. my Uncle pretended to be Santa, while my Dad hid in the bedroom with me, making me pretend to be asleep, so Santa would bring the presents, which of course, he did. It was years before the excitement of Christmas and Santa coming, would hide the fact that Santa sounded a lot like Uncle Sammy. I have a vague memory of thinking….”what are they all nuts- that is Uncle Sammy’s voice”. I still kept up the ruse, because God forbid the presents would not be left.
Here is a not so funny holiday story. My Dad was the absolute worst person for surprises. He could not wait to show you something, he just had to show you right away. So, Tillie used to go to her friend’s house once a week to play cards. This was back in the day when they all smoked. So, here was my Dad, with her, sitting in front of the closet, while he showed me all the outfits for my “Teenage Doll”….before she became Barbie- she was a lot bigger. Tillie came back to get her cigarettes, and I remember thinking she was going to kill him this time. I remember the look of horror on his face, at being discovered, and how mad my Mom was.
the next year, me and my Dad were waiting and waiting for a package to come from Germany. My Oma was sending me a new doll carriage and it never came, or so we thought. My mother hid the package from both of us, and that was the only time I had a surprise for Christmas…because my Dad did not know it arrived…..LOL LOL He was the best Dad, a partner in crime, had the best sense of humor you could ever see, and I know how very lucky I was to have had him for 38 years. I miss him terribly.
Ok…enough for now, before I start to cry…..

    Hi Colleen
We will all be praying for your SIL. Please correct me, if I am wrong, but, I do not think they are having any active terrorists or fighting in Korea right now. At least if I am right, that would be the good part. being away from his family, is the bad part. The lives of the servicemen, and their families take such a toll when they are deployed. I hope your daughter has some good friends ,and neighbors to keep them company, and assist if they need anything.
I hope some of your kids will move closer to home. It is so stressful for you to travel so far to see them, and I know how much you miss them all.
I am glad you got to spend some time with Melissa. But home at midnight is way too late for us. Of course you were exhausted! We are like Cinderella. We turn into pumpkins way before midnight.
You have some very nice Christmas memories your parents gave you, and your siblings. Those are priceless. I love to hear everyone’s family stories. Each ofour families are so different inhow we celebrated the holidays.
HAs anyone heard from Christine lately?
I entered the latest contest- I thought it was for a basket. I will have to look again.
    It is raining here today.

Hi Colleen- I think my last answer did not post. We do both Christmas, and Christmas Eve here. On the Eve we order form a local Italian place that does catering. they are great, and it makes it easier on me. ON Christmas we always have a prime rib, with mashed potato, and some vegies of choice. Have no idea which one I will do this year.
Read my post to Gail on the other page, for the day’s up-date.
Off to the boxes, I go…to purge and put out more stuff.

    Hi Gail.
Well. The black sweater with the tree is already sold, as well as 2 other shirts. All the ones I am selling are a size too small…..LOL LOL LOL I have one more closet’s boxes in the dining room to get out the decorations, and purge the Annalee’s in them. One more closet to go, after this one! I sold some Boyd’s Bears on Ebay last year. all the collectables go like crazy, especially if they are on pristine condition, which I am sure yours are. It us fun- you should try it. I get the biggest kick out of it. It is a yard sale on-line.

I have gone to only Lenox (cookie jars, Peanuts, etc) and Annalee’s for Christmas decorations. Hence, the purging. Plus, I have so many Annalees, I need to let some go, as I am trying to make decorating a little easier for me.

I went for a quick haircut this morning, because I am afraid it will get icy and snowy very soon. I hope it does not get slippery on Thursday, as I am meeting Nancy at Sue’s house for lunch, and a craft.

17 more days until Brent is back, safe and sound!

I recorded the baking show, because I wanted to watch the new comedy on the “big box store”. It did make me laugh. I love a couple of the actors in it- America is in it, and I love her.
Hope you are decorating your little heart out.

    Hi Colleen
So, when I check with Jhonny on how his first day in training went, he was waiting for AAA. he went in the wrong gate, and when he drove out, there were spikes that went through his tires. he followed the GPS directions. I guess he will be late getting home tonight. He was also told there are a record number of people retiring from the Post Office, so it should be about a year, and he would be permanent. I so hope that works out for them.
I have a lot more decorating to do. I am doing it, closet by closet. You seem like you are doing room by room…..LOL It will take me 2 weeks to get it all done, I bet. GAry could not find my garland that goes on the stair railings. Good God. I hope I do not have to buy it again.
    That cranberry salad sounds good.
Did you hear about the Holiday Baking Show? It is on tonight, and I am looking forward to seeing it. Hope I like it.
Hope your night is good….gotta go, and make our sandwiches for supper…..LOL LOL

hey Colleen and Gail….when is Brent due back?
Gail, you have never seen the Nutcracker? You would love it, for sure.
Colleen- I think you said you saw it, or am I imagining that?

I hope Barbara’s holiday celebration went well. I bet she is pooped!

    Hi Gail
Wouldn’t it be great if we could find all these family mysteries out. That is a fascinating story. One wonders who she left behind when she disappeared! That is why I have always wanted my DNA tested- curious what it will tell.
I am selling my tops that are a size smaller. I am openly giving up on the weight loss issue. I have 2 older sweaters- the pretty pink one with the snowman on it, and the black one with the tree, where the tree’s garland is off from the shirt, and moves around when you move. Plus, a lot of regular shirts, various ones. One that is older that has a lot of embellishments- it is aqua, with beautiful snowmen on it, and a tree. The older shirts have a lot more sequin detail. In the Fall, I sold quite a few, and they went real fast. I will let you know my progress. I have to purge, as with the new ones I bought, there is no more room…..LOL LOL I bought at least 8 Christmas shirts this year, that I just could not resist.
It took me quite a while to load all the pics, and describe everything. I have to go through my Annalee collection to. I have way too much, and my tastes have changed over the years. Annalee dolls go very fast on Ebay too.
Hope you had a good day- it got really gloomy here, and will rain/snow for a few days.
