Hi Ladies,
I thought I’d send out notice there is a Halloween décor show on tomorrow (Tues) at 1 PM ET, & a 2 hr Quacker Factory show at 4 PM ET. There’s a 2 hr Philosophy show in between.
I watched a few (very few) minutes of the sparring match. Nothing said I didn’t already know.
Oh, I forgot to answer one of you about Oregon taxes. We have no sales tax, but we do have income tax & some of the highest property taxes in the
country. I’m not a home owner, never have been, but I hear it on the news a lot, & from friends. The whole West coast is costly!!! And now Ca. is taking
over, buying up property, tearing down fine older homes to put in condos & charging outrageous prices for them. That’s one reason Portland is in a housing crisis. People are being evicted from apartment complexes cause the rent is almost doubling. It’s putting families out on the streets, & there’s nothing they can do. It’s gonna put us into a depression/recession before long. Affordable housing?? That’s a JOKE!!! Affordable for the rich, not the middle class, people on a fixed income. Sorry, I got off the rails!! It just infuriates me when I see it on the news night after night after night!!

We had the last blast of summer yesterday & today. It was in the 80s, but the temps will be dropping like a rock. We’ll have rain by the end of the week.

Hi Ladies,
I’m fine. That mall shooting was about 400 miles away from me. It’s closer to the Canadian border in north Washington state.
We woke up to fog this morning. IT looks more like October outside this morning. But that’s gonna change, by tomorrow we’ll
be back to summer! Temps in the 80s for Sunday & Monday, then weather whiplash, down to the 60s the rest of the week.
Oh, the Q has Christmas all weekend long. Ya all know that once Oct comes it’ll be Christmas all the time, I think. At least more
Christmas specials, I assume. (Don’t say it). lol

TP someone’s home. Remember those days?

Adele, I saw that commercial with Tom today. It’s for AAG, American Advisors Group, for reverse mortgages. It’s fairly long one too. I’d say a couple minutes at least. They showed a packet & it shows his pic on it. So I figure he does the DVD that’s included in the packet. If ya call the 800 # they’ll send
a packet to ya. Far as I know its free. Worth a try.
We had a memorial for Mary today. It was the largest group that ever assembled for a memorial. She touched a lot of people. Is funny, I had a dream of her the other night. I dreamed her & I were racing on our scooters. I don’t have one, but she did. Altho lately I wish I had one to get around on.

I don’t have much to write about tonight so I’ll close.

Hi Ladies,
I’m baaaaaaaack, lol. I have to say, my mom & I fought a lot. I was rebellious when she’d tell me what I should wear, how to wear my hair. If she were alive to this day she’d still be doing it!!!l Lol. I guess it’s the nature of mother’s & daughters to have words from time to time. Just don’t let it come between you for too long. You never know what the future holds for any of us. Nothing is that important to let something come between you & your kids. Life’s toooo short!!! I have no children so I don’t have any room to talk, but I lost my mom in 1986 & now all I have are memories. We’re all getting older by the minute, & once ‘it’ happens, there’s no turning the clock back. Have NO regrets!!

Adele, doesn’t Blue Bloods start their new season this Friday? Have you seen his new (?) commercial? I just caught the tail end of it yesterday.

Did anyone watch the 2 part special on JonBennet murder mystery? I watched the interview of the brother with Dr. Phil last week & the last part on Monday. He had this really insipid smile on his face the whole time. He never showed any emotion, sadness, anger, nothing. It was bizarre to me.

oh, did you watch the live show from Angels home tonight, I forgot.

Hi Ladies,
It’s been awhile since I wrote so I thought I’d write a few lines. I hope fall weather has reached your areas. It sure has here. We had rain on Sat. & it was the most we’ve had since last Dec., almost an inch. Felt good tho. the leaves are changing & temps are falling like the leaves. Sure is a difference when the sun goes down. I actually had the heat on yesterday, briefly.
I fixed a meatloaf tonight & cooked the potatoes with it & they turned out great. I’d never done that before. I usually have mashed potatoes with the meatloaf. I had Kay down for dinner.
I’m slowly getting my apt decorated. some days the sciatica bothers me more than other days. I’ve been doing some Yoga exercises & they seem to help.
I went to the Dr yesterday & he put me onto a website that has a lot of Yoga exercises. It’s Do Yoga with me.com. They have beginners to advanced. I’m gonna do it for awhile & see if it works. Can’t hurt.
Oh ladies, my WORST nightmare has returned!!! Roaches have returned!!! I thought we got rid of em with the construction & all. But I guess not. Now I have to have the management call in the pest control to come in & do whatever they do. They came in a few yrs ago & sprayed the h— out this place & I had a nightmare to clean up!! I never laid eyes on either roaches or bed bugs till I moved in here!!! Makes me sick just thinking about!!!
We had to vacate the 12th floor yesterday cause they brought in a crane to remove something from the roof. We were back by 11 AM. They had muffins & coffee for us. It was just this floor that had to vacate. It was mandatory for safety reasons.
Well, I guess that’s it for now.

Hi Ladies,
Colleen, don’t feel bad about not going to your friends’ service. Who has a service at 8 AM? I never heard of such a thing. 10 or 11 makes more sense.
Honor your friend in your heart & don’t worry about what anybody thinks. I talked to my mom for yrs. I still do. I talk to God the same way. He probably gets tired of hearing from me, lol. We had a memorial for the guy who died of cancer today. His brother showed up & passed out cards with a pic of his brother when he was younger. There was a lovely poem on the back of the card. Tracey looked like Ron Howard with hair!! He could pass for an older Opie, no kidding. He didn’t look that way in his last months tho. He touched a lot of people here.
No word about whether we’ll have a memorial for Mary. That jack @ss she lived with hasn’t said a word to any of us. I may go ahead & plan one for those who really cared about her.

The weather’s been perfect out here. Warm days, cool nights. You’re right about Oregon not allowing self serve at gas stations. We also have no sales tax. They’ve tried for yrs to get a sales tax & self serve, but they go down to defeat every time. They don’t do the windshields unless you ask em to, or check the oil.
Adele, you’ll be glad to hear I’m putting up my decorations now. I’m slower than usual, but that’s okay. It is still summer after all. lol Oh, did you watch ITKWD on Sunday? Did you see the dinnerware sets Temptations have now? They have Harvest & Pumpkin Patch in sets of 16 pieces/service for 4. OMG they are GORGEOUS!!!!!
Don’t get me started about cable tv!! We have Comcast out here, & EVERYBODY hates them!!!! They keep raising their rates & the service sucks!!! In Oct. the rates go up yet again $5. I pay over $125/ month now & that’s with no special programming channels, HBO, Showtime, etc. It did start out commercial free, but that was waaaaaaay back when it first started. It didn’t take long before they realized they could make $$$ with commercials. Too bad.

Well, I can’t think of anything else so I’ll say goodnight.

Hi Ladies,
It’s with a heavy heart that I write this post tonight. My neighbor passed away last night (Sat.). She’s the one who had a broken hip & they found
cancer in her lung. I knew when she left here, she wouldn’t be coming back. They moved her to a care facility last week, probably because they
knew she didn’t have much time left. We’re in mourning & you can tell it. We’ve lost other residents, but somehow this is felt a lot more. She lived just up the hall from me. Every so often she’d come knocking at my door to ask for a cube of butter or an egg. One yr I made up dinner plates for T’giving since
I had so much. They do have a dinner across the street at the church, but they don’t like crowds, so I made up the plates. When we’d be leaving the same time, she say “Hi ornery” , I’d reply Hi ornerier”. It was our way of teasing each other. Most of the time she’d say Hi kiddo. She’ll be missed by everyone here.
I have to clear up something. That day we were supposed to be out of our apt it was only for a few hrs that day. We have a community room down on the 1st floor so that’s where we would congregate. They were going to have muffins or doughnuts, coffee, juice for us. They should’ve moved us out last yr when they had construction going on in the whole bldg. They haven’t rescheduled yet. Now this week it’s the window washers again. They were scheduled last month, but they didn’t show up or something. It’s been 10 yrs or more since they’ve had window washers here.

Well, I guess it’s time for me to start fall decorating. Most of my summer stuff started falling down so I guess that means it’s time for it to come down.
Besides, it’s just days away now from the first day of fall. Our temps are cooling down a lot at night. We’re in for temps in the 80s this week, but it
cools down quickly.
So what’s up with meatloaf? I made one last week too. Seems we’re all getting into the baking mood. I have one question, & please don’t think I’m dumb. do you mash the potatoes before putting em in with the meatloaf or cut em up in pieces & cook em that way? I know you put mashed potatoes on
top of a meatloaf to make shepard’s pie. You’ll have to pardon me, I didn’t have a family to cook for so I look forward to trying some of your recipes for myself. That Boston Cream Pie sure looked yummy!!! I wish there was a cookbook for one.

Colleen I did get Jewell’s hair cut last month, just in time for the big heatwave we had. I won’t get it cut again till next yr, I don’t do it in the winter time.

It worked. Sorry I haven’t been on lately. Not much going on here. We’ve had a few days of fall like weather, which was a reprieve after the heat.
I know we don’t have it nearly as bad as you guys by a looooooong shot. I hope the temps are cooling down out there. summer’s making a
comeback starting tomorrow (Fri), thru next week.
I haven’t gone thru all the posts so if I leave someone out, I apologize.

Colleen, I’m so sorry for your loss of your friend. It’s always hard to lose someone we know. We’re all losing our friends now.

I’m bound & determined to not let this sciatica get me down. It’s been pretty bad this week. I have to do as I do in spite of it.
Somehow I ended up with an eye infection this week. I don’t know if it comes from having dry eyes or not. I went to the eye Dr. & she prescribed
medicated eye drops for 2 weeks. I hope it clears up. One thing after the other.

We were supposed to be out of our apts tomorrow (fri) for repairs to the roof & other things, but they postponed it.
I’m slowly taking down my summer decorations. I don’t want summer to be over with, just the heat!!

Has the new mama figured out the baby bottle controversy? I never had children, but I know cold air & cold milk isn’t good for a new baby. At least
that’s what I remember. Just set the bottle in a pan of warm water to take the chill off. Not boiling water, tho. Where’s her mother? Isn’t she helping
the new family? Of course I remember having glass bottles too. Evenflo bottles.
Well ladies, now that football has returned, are you football widows?

Hi Ladies,
So how’s everybody’s holiday weekend going? I hope those of you who are on the Eastern Seaboard are all safe from the storm. From what I see on
the Weather channel it looks like it’s heading out to sea. I hope! Boy, Sept comes & guess what comes with it, clouds & rain. Friday we had quite a downpour. Guess who got caught in it. It’s been cloudy in the morning & sunny in the afternoon which is perfect for me. We sure could use more of
that rain to put out those fires in Ca. I haven’t heard much about them since the storm took over. The nights are much cooler now too. In the 50s.

Adele, you beat me at putting out the ‘witch is in’ sign on my door. I also have ” enter at your own risk’ that goes with it.
I won’t be having dinner with my neighbor. She went to her family’s home for the weekend. Good riddance.
My sciatica is so bad I can’t do my dishes, or anything else. I go to the store, thinking the walking would help, but it doesn’t. The Dr. gave me some
meds, but they don’t seem to be helping yet. It may take a few doses to get it to take affect.
Did any of you see the Lock & Lock TSV? I got the Glacier blue. all the colors were beautiful. I know I shouldn’t have, but I couldn’t help myself.
Naughty, naughty, girl.

Well, I guess that’s it for now.
