Hi Ladies,
I lost ya for awhile. It’s gonna take me awhile to catch up. We had a few nice warm days, but the clouds are back. It’s supposed to clear out soon & go back to the 70’s & low 80’s.
I call it weather whiplash. I hope all of you are fine. I’ve heard about some bad storms back there.
I don’t have much to talk about. I live a verrrrrrrry boring life. Like I told ya before if ya don’t hear from me don’t be concerned. I just don’t have much to say.
I’ll talk to ya later.
dianneHi Colleen,
I recently got a pair of those gloves from Temp-tations with the silicon on them. They work great for taking things out of the oven & opening jars. Mark Charles Misilli also sells can openers that have several different things that open a lot of different jars/cans. I’ve thought about getting one, but haven’t. They open cans from the side of the can, & you don’t have a sharp edges. Any of them cost about $20. I’m happy I got the gloves, they come up on the arm protecting your arm from burns. They come about half way up my arm. I got the hot pink OW. They’re thick so the heat doesn’t come thru.
I know about not being able to open jars like we used to. My neighbor, Kay can’t open anything anymore so I open them for her. One these days I won’t be able to. I use those gloves a lot. Check em out.
David has them on ITKWD from time to time. They sell out of some colors, but they have a lot of colors in both OW & FL. Temptations is my weakness. Is getting late so I’ll talk more tomorrow.
dianneHi Ladies,
I hope you’re all safe & sound from those storms. Sounds like the tornadoes by passed you. It was down right cold here today. I went to the Dr. & just wore a light weight jacket. Big mistake. Usually if I wear a heavier jacket, I end up hot & sweaty by the time I get home. I had to turn the heat on when I got home to warm up. It’s supposed to warm up this weekend tho. I call it weather whiplash. We go from 20-25+ temps above average to below average temps in a matter of a day or so.
I went to my regular Dr. & he gave me a script for some pain pills. I’m sorry to hear about everyone’s back issues. It can be sooooo painful. I haven’t needed surgery or shots so far. Right now it’s just muscle strain. Thank you for your concern & prayers. I appreciate them all. This younger generation seems to have the idea they’ll never grow old. NEWSFLASH: they’re getting older just like the rest of us!!! Oh I wouldn’t hold back. I come across it sometimes. On our buses they have signs that say the front seats are for the elderly, or disabled. A lot of times the younger kids don’t move even tho they’re supposed to. One lady on the Max line actually argued & she wasn’t either elderly or disabled. She said I had to ask her to move. She was in her late 30s or early 40s. Makes me furious. It makes me wonder if their parents taught them anything. Obviously not.
About my cookies, I just made my cookie dough like I would for chocolate chip cookies, but substituted broken up Butterfinger candy bars. Last holiday season they had pkgs of Butterfinger baking pieces for sale, I wasn’t sure if they were pieces or actual chips. All you need to do is go to the Dollar Tree, buy a pkg or 2 of the candy bars, put em in a Zip Lock bag & take the rolling pin & break em up into small pieces. I do that with walnuts for my brownies. I LOVE brownies with a creamy icing!!
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
Take care.
dianneHi Ladies,
I’m baaaaaaack. I hope everyone is safe tonight. I heard on the news how bad those storms are that are coming your way. they sound terrifying!!! Make me glad I live out here in the NW. yes we do
have storms, etc., but nothing like what I’ve heard on the news today. Stay safe!!!Now for the reason I wasn’t on here. Over the weekend (early Sunday AM) I had to call the ambulance to take me to the ER. I don’t know what I did but during the night I woke up in EXCRUCIATING
PAIN!!! I could not get comfortable. When I turned on my side I could feel my heart flutter. Well having congestive heart failure, I got a little scared, so I called 911. The pain was in the upper back, mid section. I’d heard that sometimes women’s symptoms are different from men & back pain is one of the symptoms. Thankfully the EKG turned out fine so the heart was okay. I was diagnosed with Acute bilateral thoracic back pain. I have no clue what I did, cause I got undressed, ready for bed, did the usual bedtime routine, no pain. It wasn’t until later that night when I was in bed that it hit. I don’t know if I turned over wrong or what, but it was verrrrry painful!!! The Dr gave me a prescription for a muscle relaxer & gave me instructions on how to deal with the pain, ice, then heat, alternating.
I did some gentle back exercises, & I feel a lot better now. The meds make sleepy so I sleep a lot & it has helped. Don’t be concerned or worried or feel bad. I’ve had a bad back my whole life. But it’s usually the lower back that I have the most problem with. My primary Dr. wants me to come in tomorrow, so this should be interesting. Because I went to the ER by ambulance is the reason why, I’m sure.
It’ll take a few days to heal up, but I can still get around, more slowly than ever tho.
I did feel well enough to cook today. I made a batch of Butterfinger cookies. They’re not bad either. A change from the usual chocolate chip cookies.
We went from July temps back to the normal April temps this week. Cloudy, showers (off & on), cool. Upper 50s/low 60s. That’s more normal for here. but they say we’re in for upper 70s this weekend.Gail, those kids costumes are fantastic!!! Hard to believe they’re made of crepe paper. Wow!!! Somebody’s sure talented!!
I know what you mean about your mothers not wanting to give up their homes. I used to do live in caregiving for the elderly women who didn’t want to move out of her home. I was able to live there with them. Some were a joy to take care of & some were not. Same goes for the families. Some were really nice, & some not so much. I do hope they are able to take care of themselves. I’d hate to see anyone of them end up in a nursing home. there isn’t enough money on this planet that could get me to work in one of those places. Give me one on one every time!!! It’s the bad caregivers that give the good ones a bad name. I hear how some go into the homes & rob the old folks blind & I just blow a gasket every time I hear that!!!Let me change the subject. What is American Pickers? I;ve never heard of it. I’ve heard of “Hoarders” or Storage Wars. Are they similar? I’m puzzled about why would anyone want an old train car just to sit out in a field & do nothing with it? I could understand if they were going to fix it up & live in it or use it for extra company.
Well, I guess that’s it for tonight.
Stay safe.
DianneHi Ladies,
How’s everybody doing? I hope all is well with all of you. I had a mammogram this week. Don’t know the results yet. It was quite an ordeal getting home. I take a couple buses to get there, & back. On the way home I missed the bus that brings me back here. So I took the light rail (Max) which goes thru town. I got off down town to run an errand, thinking I’d catch the next one. Well, I went back to where I got off to catch the next train. I see red & blue lights several blocks away where the train would make a turn to come up the street. a few minutes later a man comes up to us telling us the train was involved in an accident & there wouldn’t be any more coming any time soon. We were left to our own devices on getting where we needed to go. He said shuttle buses, but he didn’t know when they’d show up. Of course it’s a fairly warm afternoon. I took a different train to another part of town to catch the bus I’d normally take home. I got to the bus stop & wouldn’t ya know I just missed it, again!! So, I waited for the next one. One bus flew by not stopping for passengers. When the next one showed up I told the other guy waiting with me I was gonna step out & stop it if I had to. I finally got home 3 hrs later!! The appt. was at 1:00!! Needless to say I was dead tired!!!
I have a few notes from your posts so here it goes.I see someone has Dianne for a middle name. Do you know how rare it is to see Dianne spelled with 2 ns. Everybody wants to spell it with one.
I have a 45 record of the song Amanda from 1973. It was sung by Don Williams. It’s a beautiful song.Ok, now to food. What is polk salad greens? I’ve heard of Polk Salad Annie, the song. Never heard of salad greens tho. All your “holiday meals” sound delicious!!! The way I cook pork steaks, chops, & sometimes chicken is to fry it up so it’s nice & crispy (not burned), remove from the skillet, pour out the access grease. Take a can of crm of mushroom soup & add to the remaining drippings. Add half a can of water to the soup mixing well. add the meat to the soup, making sure the meat is covered with the soup. Cover with lid & simmer for a few minutes on med heat. The soup makes a delicious gravy over mashed potatoes, & serve with fave veggie.
We are back to normal temps for April. We’ve dropped 25-30 degrees since the first of the week. we had a couple thunderstorms come thru, but nothing like what you guys get. It rained all night last night, but was cloudy today. That’s more like it.
I’m sending along a pic I took of the Rhododendrons out front. They’re just opening up. Normally they open up around Mother’s Day. It’s the hot weather we’ve been having.I know what you guys are talking about writing up a post only to have it disappear. I had the same thing happen, but I couldn’t remember all I’d written. So you’re not alone. It’s
frustrating!!!
Have a great weekend.
dianneHi Colleen,
PRAISE THE LORD!!! I’m soooooooooooo glad to hear your tests came out negative, & there was no lesion on your kidney. That’s what I’d call a full blown miracle!!! Also glad the rib turned out to be
cartilage, nothing else. Yes our prayers were answered!! Praise the Lord.It was hot again today. In the upper 80s. It starts to cool down tomorrow, with rain coming by the weekend. Just showers, nothing like what’s going on in Texas. that’s terrible.
Did I send you the article about the goats? I thought I sent ya something, but wasn’t sure. I know I sent it to Adele.
Ok ladies, I’m in a bit of quandary. I wanna order a set of Temptations dinner ware. should I get a set in Oceanfetti or Fireworkfetti (if available)?? I sure don’t need anymore baking dishes!! lol
Well, I guess that’s all for now
take care.
dianneHi Ladies,
We are in the midst of July/Aug. temps today. Its in the 80s & could reach 90 in some areas!! That’s waaaaaaaaay toooo hot for April!!! Luckily, the humidity is in the 20% range. We’ll be back to our
typical weather in a couple days or so. This is coming up from Calif. I hope you guys are having nice weather. Enjoy!!
Adele, here’s what I’ll do. I’ll give you my email address, then you can send me an email, just say hi. It’ll come to me then I’ll forward it back to you. It won’t show up here, unless you use this address.Colleen, I hope all went well at your appointment today. Hope they find the problem.
Barbara, I’m glad the moving day went well. I worked for a minister & his wife back in the 70s & their son & dil were moving away. We had a going away dinner for them, and as they were getting ready to back out of the driveway, I took a can of pickled beets & dropped it in the back seat as I was petting the dog. the son hated pickled beets & I knew that. He saw what I did, had a few choice words for me, & it lightened up the mood. his folks cracked up laughing at it. I was always pulling some kind of prank. They had a good sense of humor.
I used to watch the View, but when the ladies started leaving, I didn’t like it as much. I really didn’t like when Rosie was on. She was sooooo full of herself & antagonistic/hateful I couldn’t stand her.
Well, I can’t think of anything else to talk about right now.
My email address is: dianned58@gmail.com
talk to ya later.
dianneHi Adele,
I can email the article, but can’t figure out how to get it here. I was able to email it to myself, so I can forward it if I had an email address. It’s up to you if you want to give me your
email address.
DianneHi Ladies,
I had the same problem yesterday. I’d written a fairly long post, then when I went to submit it, I got that “cannot reach that page”. So I went back & it was gone, so I had to do it over. So it isn’t something you’re doing. It has to be the site. I tried to send a pic too & lost it too, along with the letter. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Gail, I’ve never heard of ocular headaches. It sounds terrible!! Anymore news on Kendall? I sure hope they find out what’s going on. Have they done a C SCAN or MRI on her?Watching ITKWD & he’s been outdoors & I see you’re having a beautiful day. ABOUT TIME!!!! You deserve some nice weather!!
I’ve loved cartoons since I can remember! Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny & friends, Looney (that’s me) Tunes, Merry Melodies, Popeye, and of course the old Disney’s!! I have quite a collection of them on DVD & video. when there’s nothing on the tube, I slip in a DVD or video just to have noise in the back ground while writing out holiday cards, or just enjoy. I don’t like the new modern cartoons.
Remember I talked about the goats? There’s an article the Sunday paper today. I’m gonna try & find a way to include it, but don’t expect miracles. If I don’t get it thru don’t be surprised.Have a great Sunday.
