For some reason every word I type I get a red line under each word!! I don’t know what I did. I’m slowly getting my Christmas things taken down. The tree is still up & I enjoy the lights. I hate taking it down because of the lights. The apt will sound like an echo chamber once the tree is gone. Empty!!
I guess we’re in for a soggy weekend. It’s part of the bomb cyclone that’s hitting Ca. Some of it is headed our way.
Nothing going on here so that’s all I have for tonight. ‘
Take care.
ddin reply to: What’s Happening? January 2023 #146350HAPPY NEW YEAR, LADIES,
I hope everyone had a good Christmas with your friends & families. I didn’t do anything special Christmas. I did go out to dinner NYE with Diane, & Marilyn to celebrate our birthdays. Diane’s is the 31st, & mine is coming up. The weather was pretty nice for this time of yr. We had freezing rain a few days before but it was looong gone by then. Thankfully.
Some of the residents put on a Christmas dinner for all of us. That was nice. They also did a get together for NYE which was nice. I didn’t go since I’d just got home from our dinner. I was soo tired & stuffed like a turkey I couldn’t muster up enough energy to go.
Critt’s getting grumpier lately. We always knocked on his door to let him know when he had pkgs delivered. But I was talking to one of the neighbors today & he told me about Critt. Critt & I had a falling out a few months ago so we aren’t communicating anymore.
I’ve started taking down my decorations. I’ve gotta downsize, so I’m getting smaller containers then I’ll donate the rest.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
Take care, stay safe & stay warm.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I know the weather has been/is horrible back there. We got just a small taste of it the past few days. We got the backside of the polar express & it shut down
Portland starting Thursday. Mostly freezing rain/ice which is far worse than snow. It’s kind of a blurr since the holiday was on the weekend. the temps were single digits in most places. We almost got that low, teens at night. But the regular Pacific rain has returned & we could see plenty of wet weather this week. Soggy city, instead of Rose City. Plenty of snow in the higher elevations/ mountains. Skiers will love that for the next holiday weekend coming up.
Gail, that’s a shame about those trains. They’d be worth something, esp. to a collector. Oh well, water under the bridge. It just irritates me no end when people steal from their family members.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m kinda glad the holidays are almost behind us. Guess I’m getting old too. It takes me so long to get the place decorated, then the days just flyyyy by so fast. I don’t know where this yr went!! Now I have to take it down & put it away. Ugh. I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it next yr. Everything is getting harder to do!!!
Well, that’s all for tonight. I hope everyone has a safe NYE & New Years.
dd & Snowball.in reply to: Chit Chat for December 2022 #146039MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
Hi Ladies,
Sorry I haven’t been on here this month. I had a bad cold earlier but I’m fine now. We’re having the coldest temps we’ve seen in yrs. Right now we’re at 14 degrees. No snow, yet, but some is coming later today, followed by freezing rain. It’s supposed to move out Sat. & normal rain comes in. It’ll be a balmy 54 Christmas Day. We’re getting the back side of the polar express you guys are getting full on.
Please stay safe everyone.
I realize it’s gonna be a hard holiday season for you, Adele, & Colleen. I’m sending lots of hugs & love.
I’m playing Home Alone right now.
They’re having a Christmas dinner downstairs & I’ll be going down in a little while.
Well, that’s all I have for now.
Take care, stay safe & stay warm.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! It won’t be a very happy one for some of us. I’m sick. I caught something over the weekend, not sure what. No fever, but stuffed up sinuses, & a cough. Colds & flu are rampant out here. I got the flu shot & vaccinated to the hilt so I guess it’s just a cold. NO energy, sleeping alot.
OH, I opened a can of chicken noodle soup & the noodles are half the size they used to be!!
Management is having a Thanksgiving dinner downstairs tomorrow so I’ll go down & get a plate & bring it back here. I can’t eat a whole bird by myself. Hopefully I’ll have enough strength to put up my tree! If not I may have to forego putting it up this yr, & just put out my villages & Christmas knick knacks. Does this sound familiar to any of you??
Adele, I hope you get through the holidays. I know all too well how it is to get through them when you’ve lost someone so near & dear to you. My mother died Nov. 21,1986 & the first couple yrs or so they were hard to get through, esp; that first yr. The first yr is always the hardest to get through, the birthdays, anniversaries, all special dates. Eventually they’ll become special dates to remember & look back on with fondness & joy. I know it seems impossible right now, but it will happen.
To all of you, I hope you enjoy the holiday with your families, friends & all that lovely food. And by the way who says you have to have turkey & all the trimmings??!! I think it’s great to have a change of pace. Enjoy!!!
Have a wonderful holiday!!!!

Adele, I hope Gary’s surgery is a big help with his health. Once the blood can flow through without blockage, he should feel better soon. When I had mine the Dr. said the color in my cheeks (face)he was real pleased!! So I’m hoping & praying he’s up & about real soon. Mine was a bit different, I had a hole in the left ventricle & they had to sew a dacron patch onto the heart muscle to close up the hole. But it was amazing how much better I felt afterwards. My mom nearly had a coronary when she came into the recovery room after the surgery. She thought I was at death’s door. the next day they had me sitting on the edge of the bed, then later they had me walked across the room to a chair. She nearly passed out. She thought I”d be bedridden instead of on my feet so soon.
He’ll be put on a special diet, I’m pretty sure. Oh his chest will hurt until the sternum heals up. It’ll take quite awhile, & for the incision to heal as well. I wish you both the very best & am sending lots of prayers for a good recovery.
I hear you’re gonna have a heatwave out there. Out here we’re gonna get hit with one of those atmospheric rivers this weekend, starting Friday thru Sunday. Localized flood warnings are up as are high wind warnings for the whole NW. this is the first big storm of the fall/winter season. So beware it’ll make its way across the country next week.
Don’t forget to turn your clocks back Sat.night before going to bed. We get that hour back, yaaaaaay. The only thing is it’ll be dark at 4:00.
I plan on putting up the tree this weekend & go through my tubs of Christmas decorations.
Well, that’s all for tonight. Take care everyone.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! Well, here we are at the end of another month! Where does the time go?? Now we’ll all be preparing for Turkey Day, then the BIG Day, then a whole new year!!
Goooood news, we’ve been having rain so the air has cleared out & is safe to breathe outdoors again!!
No more smoky skies, clouds, but fresh clean air after what seemed like weeks on end. It’s sooooo refreshing. There’s snow on Mt Hood again. We don’t have snow down here, its still too warm for that.
The first part of the month we had an extended summer, then literally overnight we went from that to full out fall temps. We dropped nearly 40 degrees, I kid you not!!!
I’m gonna start going through my Christmas decorations & see what I want to put where. I’ve already put up some Christmas lights around the apartment to lighten up my mood. This time next week we’ll be back to regular time & it’ll be dark around 4:00.
Hallie wants me to come to her home for Thanksgiving. I don;t know if I’ll go or just stay home & decorate the tree
(if I haven’t put it up before then). They have so many dogs & now cats, the place smells awful.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
Take care, stay safe,
ddin reply to: Chit Chat for October 2022 #144299Hi Ladies,
Well, more bad news. I had an old phone I could use for email & texting, but now it’s on life support. It dies when I take it off the charger. I guess I’ll have to go get another one soon.
How’s the weather out there? It’s still summer out here. NO rain in sight. But we do have a smoky haze from the fires that are still burning. they put out a health alert for some folks like me. It’s nothing like it was 2 yrs ago though. Just a pink tinted haze in the sky.
Adele, I thought we all were old ladies..LOL!! And yes the prices are terrible unless they’re cut drastically. OMG, I just read your post to Gail about your oven! That’s terrifying! To have your oven go berserk like that. WOW!! I’ve never heard of such a thing. Sounds like that mother board was the wrong one.
Well, that’s about it for tonight. Take care.
