Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone has a wonderful & safe 4th of July. Our weather has been wild earlier in the week. On Monday we had an unusual day. It started out sunny & nice. But later in the day a thunderstorm popped up out of nowhere. A tornado touched down in a neighborhood my friends live in. It did a lot of damage knocking down big trees into cars & homes. No injuries were reported.
But that’s just the beginning of my day. I went with Hallie & Dan & the kids over to the coast to their fave seafood restaurant. It was cloudy & windy over there, but it felt good. We had our lunch, then we were off to run an errand she had to take care of. I was left with the boys & the dog. Well, the dog needed to be taken out so I got out & watched the boys as they took care of the dog. (A real small dog, chihuahua). Pretty soon the dog got away from them & he ran right to where Hallie was just coming out of the bldg. So then we started for home. She had a Dr. at 4:15 & we were gonna cut it short. Well, instead of getting on one of the main roads back to Portland she got on her phone GPS & we ended up going God knows where as a short cut getting there. We were waaaaaaaaaaay off the beaten path. I swear we went at least 30 miles of the main road, if not more!!! Honestly I think we went around in circles at the start. I saw parts of Oregon I didn’t know existed, mostly farms that were way out there. Well, we finally made it to where she had her appt. & again I was left with the boys & the dog. By this time I was exhausted just from the ride. I was in the back seat with the boys & I’ll never do that again. The back seat isn’t big enough for 3 people. So, as we’re sitting there here comes the storm. And I mean it was Right over head!! They counted 19 lightning strikes as we sat there. Then came the heavy downpours, & the hail. It was 4:30 going on 5 & it looked like it was a lot later than that. It was almost 5:15 before they got out of her appt. We watched as everyone was leaving the bldg.
As we were waiting for them, I was getting alerts on my phone about a huge tree that was toppled over onto some cars & a home. No injuries were reported.. Turns out it was in the same neighborhood my friends live in. Just up the street from where they live. It’s where that tornado touched down. It wasn’t confirmed till later that night.
I didn’t get home till 6 & where I live it was dry as a bone. the streets weren’t even wet from any rain. It was a freaky storm for sure. It’s still making the news. The power wasn’t restored till Tues. morning.
Well, I think that’s enough excitement for awhile.
HAVE A WONDERFUL 4TH OF JULY!!!

Well I got her home today!! I haven’t named her yet. I’ll be sending the pics I took of her tonight. She seems to be comfortable here. She’s explored the place several times. And she’s even taken a nap. she’s a small kitty. She needs a tooth taken out but I can’t afford it right now. They want almost $500 for a tooth extraction!! She’s jumped upon my lap a couple of times already then explored the area surrounding the sofa. It’s gonna be interesting at bedtime tonight.
I’m glad I have her now. I wasn’t sure if I’d get another cat right away or not, but when I saw her I had to have her. I told Hallie I’ll know her when I see her. And sure enough Hallie sent me the 2 pics I tried sending earlier, & that was that.
Well, that’s my news for today.
Have a great weekend everybody.
I’ll be preoccupied. LOL

I can’t find the pics but as soon as I do I’ll send em.in reply to: Quacker Talk-June 2019 #97461Hi Ladies,
The thunderstorms are gone & the weather is clearing up. It’s cloudy, but it’s warming up. At least the sun is out again. It sounds like the 4th is gonna be nice for a change. they say we had 4000 lightning strikes between Ore. & Wa. the other day. They showed a map & it was lit up like a Christmas tree with the images of the strikes.I go get my new roommate later this evening. I’m so excited to get her. I was supposed to go to the beach today with Hallie & her family, but they hit a snag, so hopefully Monday.
I’m sure all of you know CIJ starts this weekend with VPH TSV. They are beautiful!! David had a preview of it on his Down Home show last night. I’d love to get a set or two of those little ceramic trees in pink & silver. But it’s only a matter or $$$. Minor detail. lol
Hey Adele, how’s the gout? I hope it’s all gone by now. Flag leggings? Must be something I missed. I’ve seen tops with flag decorations but not pants.
I guess that’s all for now

PS: the pics of the kitties aren’t of my new roomyin reply to: Quacker Talk-June 2019 #97431Hi Ladies,
I was supposed to go see my new fur baby, but Hallie hasn’t heard back from him yet. In case any of you haven’t seen the pics I sent last night, I forwarded
them to my friends on my FB page.
We’re in for more thunderstorms later today. According to the news there were over 1200 lightning strikes last night. That’s ALOT for us. It’s pretty dark out there right now. End of June & I turned on the heat again today.
Well, I’ll go for now.

I don’t know if you got my post on Messenger yet, but I have a new fur baby. Well, almost. Hallie sent me a couple pics of this adorable white kitty. She’s 6 yrs old, was found homeless by a couple who had a dog, which she didn’t like. Sounds familiar. It sounds like she’s a one person kitty. We go pick her up tomorrow afternoon. Hallie knows this man that runs a rescue place. She was sending me pics of other kitties, then she sent me the pics of Snowball. IT was love at first sight, for me. I’ll keep ya posted as to what transpires tomorrow. It feels like Devine intervention.
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but we had a doozy of a thunderstorm today. It started elsewhere & moved up the valley. Lots of people are without power tonight. Luckily I’m not. I saw so many lightning strikes it was unbelievable. We had heavy rain, hail, & lots of storm damage around the area, & up & down the valley. It started as a lovely day, but by evening the sky started getting dark & darker. IT was looking pretty scary it was so dark. I’ve never seen so many lightning strikes.
Well, I’m gonna sign off but I’ll keep ya posted on my new roommate.

Colleen, I’m relieved to hear you’re not in any danger. Glad to hear you’re having a good time w/ your family. That’s really important.
It’s another overcast day, but it looks like the sun is coming out.
Adele, sorry to hear about the gout. I’ve heard it’s painful. I hope the meds work quickly.
Those ducks will be all decked out for the seasons with those ribbons around their necks. lol
Not much going on here.
Have a great week!!
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-June 2019 #97300HI Ladies,
It’s been a cool overcast day today. Comfortable actually. Another lazy day. I don’t know if you’ve heard, we had several earthquakes off the Oregon coast
far away from me. They were way underneath the ocean floor. We get them every so often. No damage done.
Our Republican lawmakers are MIA due to a walkout in protest a bill that would put a lot of people out of work. They passed a bill back in the 80s or 90s that put the lumber industry out of business. IT took several yrs for us to recover from it.
NO, I won’t be watching the high wire show. I’ll be watching either Columbo or Murder, She Wrote. I’ve been on a MSW binge since I found they released it to Prime. I’m living in a time warp, I swear!! I just prefer the old shows to the ones on today. What can I say???Well, that’s all for tonight.
Have a wonderful week.
Thanks Adele for your kind words & offer. That’s sweet.
Colleen, are you okay? I just now saw on the news the flooding in Mo. It looks like the whole state is in danger. I pray you’re okay!!
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-June 2019 #97279Hi Ladies,
Gail, congrats on your anniversary. I hope you get a nice dinner. The plaque about meeting you at the door is the one Sue sent me awhile back. I continued on & found they have several items. That’s where the pics of the others came from. Most everything was about dogs, but they did have a handful of items for kitties, not much tho. When I had to put my Fluffy down in 91, I found a gray statue of a kitty that looks so much like her it’s amazing!! Her green eyes, pink ears, down to the white tip on her tail. And I put her last collar around the neck. It’s still there. I hope I find one that looks like Jewell eventually. I found this one in a mom & pop drugstore back in the 90s. I love those places. You can find things that no one else has.Adele, you do have quite a brood of ducks, quack, quack. The parsley looks good. I hope the rest of your herbs sprout up as good. Oh say, about Instagram, our fave Lock &Lock lady, Chris Pryme posts on there her farm, pets, & lets us see her pies, etc. And so do some of the other hosts, David, Mary, Shawn, she posts pics of Jaggar, it’s a great place to find all kinds of stuff. That’s where I find a lot of those things I send you guys.
I have a dear friend who sent me the sweetest email about Jewell, & the pics I put together. I’m gonna try to send it, but not sure it will go thru. If it shows up as an envelope just click on it & hopefully it will open up.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-June 2019 #97258Hi Ladies,
It’s another lazy afternoon out here. It was downright chilly this morning. I turned on the heat to get the chill off. You wouldn’t know it was the second day of summer. Some areas of the state are under a freeze warning this weekend. Unbelievable!!!
I got a post from QF the other day & I saw the hand towels. They’re darling. The holiday towels should be coming out for CIJ. Let’s hope so.
Barbara, tell Auto kitty I appreciate his advice. lol. I had another bad day yesterday. It hits me out of the blue.
I’d have heart failure if I came across a deadly snake. Luckily, we don’t have any down here. They’re up in the mts, I hope!!! You’d NEVER get me to live in the hot desert areas. Oh we have some creepy crawlers around, but I try to avoid them!!Oh yes we do use AC, but not as much as you guys do. We have natural AC, the Pacific ocean. IT’s when the East wind blows that it gets so hot here. Once the winds change to the west, it cools down.
Well, that’s all I have for today.
