Hi Adele,
OPEN MOUTH INSERT FOOT!!! That’s me all over, Mable. I was confused. Sorry. Did you get Heather to go to the Dr.? We’re having a severe allergy
season out here. One town south of here has the highest percentage of allergies in the country. Right now it’s grass seeds. Did you hear about the forest fires in Canada? they say the smoke will be heading our way eventually. and we’re heading into the 80s nest week.
I thought everyone our age would remember the Fizzies. You’d drop one in a glass of water & it’d fizz till it ran out. The bubbles would tickle your nose. To me it was like Kool Aid with bubbles. lol
Well, I guess that’s it for tonight
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-June 2019 #96575Hi Ladies,
Adele, no I don’t think you missed any more Boo fetti. She had a set of 2 bowls today, all seasonal (summer) patterns. Firework fetti, summer, oceanfetti, egg hunt, fire work (floral lace) sold out. That’s all I’ve seen since the boo fetti. I love the oceanfetti, so I ordered the set of bowls.
I’m surprised to learn you don’t have a Kroger’s out there. We have a grocery chain that was started way back in the 1920s called Fred Meyer (after the founder). Kroger’s bought it several yrs ago, but they kept the name FM. They sell the Kroger brand name tho. We have WalMart, Target, and the Grocery Outlet stores, among others around the area, burbs. There used to some mom & pop stores, but I think with all the big box stores they’ve gone out of business.
I’m sure there were ceremonies for the lost on Memorial Day. Fly overs, ceremonies at the National cemetery on Memorial day.
We just had one parade this weekend, the Starlight parade, last night. Mid week will be the Junior parade, with the little kids, then next Sat. is the big Rose Parade. The Rose Festival has been going on for the better part of a century now.
I was a busy little bee today. I moved furniture around, vacuumed, did the dishes, went to the store. I’ll probably pay for it tomorrow.
On the way to the store, one of the residents came up to me, asking how I was doing. He offered his condolences, & offered his kitty if I needed some purrs & love. He was so sweet. I may take him up on ‘borrowing’ his kitty.
I hope Heather gets to the Dr. in time. IT sounds a miscarriage to me. Even tho I never had any kids, even I know when it’s not good when she’s bleeding, etc.
Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
Have a great week everybody!
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-June 2019 #96533HI Ladies,
Well, it’s a lazy Sat. afternoon. It’s almost 80 today. Gorgeous day out. Our annual Rose Festival is in full swing. Actually the fun center opened last weekend, the carnival rides, etc. Tonight is the Starlight Parade thru downtown Portland, it starts after dark, hence the name. Later in the week the Junior Parade will wind thru another part of town, the kids on their bicycles, tricycles, wagons, the kids dress up & have lots of fun. Then next Sat. will be the big Rose Parade. Hopefully the weather will stay nice for all the parades. I’ve seen em march in pouring down rain, or 90 degree weather. IT’s a 5 mile parade so the heat isn’t the best.
I pretty sure the Grocery Outlet store you spoke of Sue is out here as well. In fact there are several around the area. I’ve been in a few of em & saw many brands of can goods I never heard of. They do sell discontinued items. I found a fave flavor of Haagen Daaz (?) was discontinued & found it there.Gail, I hope for your sake those people won’t rip you off. Is there any way Greg could meet them there with the boat? I know how ya feel after being robbed. I’m not as trusting either.
Adele, I thought the family or friends of the expectant mother made the plans for the baby shower? Maybe I’m not up to date on how things are done now.
Can you believe we’re into June now? Almost half way thru the yr. Where has this yr gone??
I hope everyone is safe from those storms. We could use a little bit of the rain, since they keep saying we’re a tinderbox ready to explode.
I just heard something going on down on the street, so I looked & there are a whole bunch of cyclists tying up traffic down on the street. There’s a soccer game tonight in the newly remodeled stadium. They put in 4k new seats for more people, along with a nice cover over the seats. My friend is a big soccer fan, but I don’t care for it.
Well, I guess that’s all for now
Take care & stay safe.
ddin reply to: Quacker talk-May 2019 #96487Hi Colleen,
I’ve sent my tribute to your email address, & your quacker address. I’m not sure if it’ll go thru, so let me know if you see it.
I just wish I was able to send it on here. It’s 2 weeks today. I gotta stop doing this. Counting the days, weeks without her.I hope you’re all safe from those horrible storms. It’s so horrible what’s been going on across the country.
Well, I;m all talked out for now.
Have a safe weekend!!dd
in reply to: Quacker talk-May 2019 #96449Hi Ladies,
OMG!!! I hope those storms stop soon!!! I’ve been praying for God to stop em. It looks like the thunderstorms they’ve been having on the East side of the state are making their way West. So we could have some thunder & lightning overnight. It’s NOTHING like what you’re getting back there. You girls should keep an eye out for Boofetti on ITKWD as she has more coming up on the show. She didn’t elaborate on what she has, but just gave a teaser.
I;m so sorry about all the sickness & medical issues all of you & your families are going thru. I haven’t heard of some of the tests/procedures. I hope everything turns out okay. I’ll keep ya in my prayers.
I sent the tribute to Messenger. It’s a collection of all or almost all the pics I took from the time I got her to the end. I haven’t been able to put anything down on paper just yet. I started to for the psychologist, but couldn’t continue it. Eventually maybe.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.
Adele, were you thinking of chickpeas? Isn’t that what they make hummus from? That isn’t the same as grits is it? I’ve never had grits.
Don’t tell David that, lol.
ddin reply to: Quacker talk-May 2019 #96421Hi Ladies,
This will be short. Did you know Jill Bauer is leaving the Q? I got a post on FB this morning about David interviewing her on her website & they were going to stream it live. I didn’t see myself, but it’ll be interesting to hear why she’s leaving.I made a tribute to Jewell, but I’m not sure if I can post it on here or not. I may have to find another way, that is if you don’t mind me sending it to ya.
I’ll talk more later.
take care.
ddin reply to: Quacker talk-May 2019 #96398Hi Ladies,
I started a post & it disappeared. This site drives me nuts!! I hope this finds everyone safe & sound. I keep hearing about those horrible storms out there. I’ll keep ya in my prayers. By the way, I want to thank all of you for your prayers, support, & love during this difficult time for me. It’s sooooo lonesome around here now.
Adele, did you see Tara has Boo-fetti out already? She had a set of 3 glass containers & it was one of the patterns, along with harvest. Seems early to me. Summer hasn’t even arrived yet.
Gail, I got a chuckle from the cows in the trees. Somehow I don’t think the trees could hold up cows. lol. I think that pic was taken in Africa. Not sure tho. Could be Arizona or New Mexico for all I know.
We finally got above the 50s & 60s today. We actually hit 70. I know the feeling about wanting some hot cocoa, hot soup. It’s been that way here too. We just haven’t had the storms. I baked a batch of brownies & added Nutella to the batter. It made em moist.Adele, I’ve seen boiled egg, cooked green peas, cheese, diced ham, diced pickle, in macaroni salad. I think it’s one of those ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ thrown in dishes.
Well, I guess that’s all for tonight.
Big hugs to everyone.
Stay safe.
ddin reply to: Quacker talk-May 2019 #96323Hi Ladies,
I don’t know what happened, but my post was sent before I was ready. Anyway, I’m sorry for being so self absorbed, & neglecting you guys.
Gail, all dressed up & no where to go, as they used to say. I’m sorry you were sick over the weekend. That’s the pits. I hope you’re feeling better now. There seems to be a lot of crud going around. More cases of the measles have popped up across the country. This makes the most cases recorded in 25 yrs.
Colleen, I hope your nephew is doing a lot better now. Do they live nearby? Could they move into your mom’s home? Have they made any kind of living arrangements? Did the Red Cross help out in any way? They help people out find shelter, & other needs when people are displaced by a fire.
any news on the cause of the fire?
Thank you for those lovely words for the fallen soldiers. I have at least 2 neighbors who are Vietnam vets. Critt was in the Airforce. He has a lot of combat issues from that time. I did go over tonight & visited with him.
Barbara, I so enjoy the stories of you & itty bitty & how happy you are. I hope you’ll get to see him more often.Sue, that was a wonderful surprise. So glad you ran into your friend. The salad sounds great. Could you make half the recipe? Or a quarter of it? That way you wouldn’t have so much. I have the same problem. They write recipes for families & it makes waaaaay tooo much for us singles. If I make too much I can eat the leftovers for a couple days. Leftovers taste a lot better after they’ve sat overnight in the fridge.
Well that’s all for tonight.
Have a great week.
ddin reply to: Quacker talk-May 2019 #96316Hi Ladies,
I owe some of you an apology. Colleen, I hope your nephew is doing better. I’ve never been in a fire, but I know how terrifying it must be!!! -
