ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-May 2018 #82062Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note. I haven’t read all the posts so I’m way behind. What’s the deal with Mario? I know he’s no longer on The Chew, which I read has been cancelled. Is there more to the story?
It’s been real nice out here. They say we’re in for a hot dry summer!! That doesn’t bode well for forest fires, again.
I’m sorry you guys have so much trouble with your meds. All mine are covered, which makes no sense to me. All I pay is a small co-pay. I’m on Medicare & have Health Net as backup. I have nothing to do with Obamacare at all. Something’s weird.
I’m getting used to the new computer, setting it up, making sure I don’t lose any of my emails, or photos.
It’s hard to believe this weekend is Memorial Day weekend already. I have no plans at the moment. Never do, really.
I hope everyone has a safe weekend with your families.
take care.
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-May 2018 #81971Hi Barbara,
Sorry to hear about your issues. If it’s what I think it is, find something with testosterone, male hormone, it should help. If you’re on estrogen, it could be the problem. Someone told me they give you a shot of testosterone if you go to the ER to stop the bleeding. I’m shocked they didn’t tell you to go to the ER in the first place. Testosterone counters the bleeding.
I’ll write more later.
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-May 2018 #81922Hi Ladies,
I got my new computer & I’ve been playing with it for the past couple days. I’m writing this on the old one as I’m not used to the new one yet. I’m having trouble getting my pics transferred over to the new one. I tried to log on to the app that’s supposed to help move stuff from one unit to the new one, but for what ever reason they needed both serial #s but I don’t have the serial # from the old one. And they said the # I gave them for the new one wasn’t correct. However, when I signed into register the computer with HP it went thru, no problem.
I’m probably still in the dog house with Adele, since I admitted I didn’t watch bleu bloods. lol. OUCH!!!! I remember when they pulled 4 of my teeth before getting braces, omg. I had to keep medicated pads between the other teeth so the cold air couldn’t get to it. I sure didn’t feel like doing anything. and that was back in the 80s.
I did get up for the wedding. as soon as it was over I went back to bed. But then, I was awakened by a group of noisy soccer fans that came here from LA for a soccer game. I spent the rest of the day sleeping whenever I could. I recorded it since it was on CNN/HLN without commercials. And the commentators kept QUIET!! during the ceremony. The only time they talked was during a break in the event. I got up in time to see Prince Charles, Queen & Prince Phillip, arrive. there weren’t any diplomats or heads of state at the affair, just celebrities, friends of the family & Diana.
I think the family was taken aback by the minister that gave the sermon, quoting MLK!! It was marvelous. the choir was a African-American choir from Chicago, & they sang Stand By Me. Elton John didn’t sing at the wedding itself. He performed at the reception afterwards. It wasn’t televised. They’re such a darling couple!! I was living vicariously thru watching it. My prince never showed up, so it’s as close as I’ll ever get to a prince.LOL
Jewell got her haircut Friday, & she was beside herself the rest of the day. She didn’t know what to do. It’s been on the chilly side but I got out one of my winter throws for her to sleep on. She won’t get under the covers with me. I tried to cover her with light weight hand towel but she wouldn’t have any of it. It’s supposed to get hot this week, 80s, but by the weekend, they’re saying thunder storms are possible. I remember yrs ago, I was staying with a friend & on Memorial Day weekend it was so stormy we watched the water swirl down the street. It was really moving!! That’s spring in Oregon.
Well, I better get off here before I bore ya to death.
Have a great week!!!
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-May 2018 #81782Hi Sue,
WOW you guys are getting hammered by those storms. Thank you for getting back to me. I saw on the news about the storms & how much damage they’ve done. I didn’t realize it was so bad!! we’re cloudy & cool, but no rain. The Columbia river is at flood stage, due to rapid snow melt in the mts when we had those hot days last weekend. I’m in no danger as the river isn’t that close to me. It just sounds odd when we haven’t had a lot of rain for the rivers to be high enough to be at flood stage. It just means the bridges have to lift more often for ships to pass underneath.
I hope you make it to the Dr. not looking like a drowned rat.
Take care everyone!!
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-May 2018 #81771Hi Ladies,
Has anyone heard from Adele? I haven’t seen her on here for a few days. I hope she & her family are okay.
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-May 2018 #81708Hi Ladies,
Just a note tonight. Gail, you’re the one who uses Philosophy? I was reading some reviews & some were complaining the scent doesn’t last as long as it did earlier on. Is that true? I’ve been using my new fresh cream. It’s fine with me if the scent doesn’t linger. I guess you can’t make everyone happy. No you’re not the only one who doesn’t watch Blue Bloods, but don’t tell Adele. Shhhhhhh, just between you & me, LOL!!!
Many yrs ago Disney did a series of wildlife shows, & they showed the male birds strutting their stuff to get the attention of their love. It was hilarious to watch.
We had another 90 degree day here. It was the hottest Mother’s day ever. but the cooler temps are on the way back.
the groomer didn’t make it today. Poor Jewell, she was so upset (NOT)!!! Some emergency came up I guess, & they rescheduled for Friday.
Well, that’s all for tonight.
ddin reply to: Quacker Talk-May 2018 #81686Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s day.
Gail, I’m really sorry to hear about your family issues. I don’t have any words of wisdom. Just be there for your daughter & grand kids. I did go to beauty school back in the early 70s. and no I didn’t like it. In those days haircuts were $3.!!! and you worked on a 60/40 pay ratio.(??). in training, I was good at the ‘old lady’ hair cuts, neckline cuts, short in back & longer on the top. I wasn’t good at styling, esp long hair. My cousin was born with a comb in her hands, so my dad figured I should be just as good. It’s where I met my ex husband. I went out with one of the other students on weekend, & turned out she knew him & we passed him on the highway. He caught up with us, & that’s how I met him. We didn’t last long, 16 months. He was constantly threatening divorce, till he finally got it.
Colleen, it sounds like you had a 4th of July picnic/ bbq. It sounded wonderful!! I’m sorry you guys had such bad weather out there. David talked about the storms today. As for the birds, the males are usually the bright colored ones, like the cardinals. The females are brown so they blend in with the trees, bushes while they sit on their nests. Canadian honkers are exactly alike in color, but the Mallard ducks, the male has all those beautiful feathers.
Adele, I hope you had a wonderful day. that cake sounded wonderful, I’ll be right out. I;m glad your daughter wasn’t hurt in the accident. Out here you can get a heavy fine or suspended license if your caught without insurance. They’re real strict about that out here.
By the time you guys see this, Jewell will have had her grooming & will look nothing like she does right now. she’ll probably be mad at me too.
Did you get any of those crop pants on the TSV the other day? I wanted to but I don’t dare. I got that denim shirt by Belle & it fits me like 2 sizes too big!!
I haven’t seen the bandana top. I’ll have to look it up.
Have a grrrrrrrrrreat week!!!
