Hi Ladies,
That’s too bad about the kids not having Trick or treat in some areas. Altho I can understand why. Here’s why. A local mother found a razor blade in a candy bar she got during trick or treat. They showed it on the news & it didn’t appear to be a new blade or a blade from a razor. Kay & I were just talking about finding razors in apples & candy yrs ago just the other day, before this happened. Maybe it’s a good thing they didn’t have trick or treat. That sounds cold hearted, but in light of what happened out here maybe its a good thing.
It sounds like we’re in for some winter weather this weekend. Lots of rain here, & snow in the mts, where it belongs. gonna make it hard to go grocery shopping, but I’m not made of sugar & I won’t melt. The snow levels will be coming down, down, down Sunday. that should make the skiers happy!
I’m leaving up the fall things, putting up T’giving turkeys, etc. It’s 3 weeks from today. Can you believe it??!!
anybody gonna watch the new show, SWAT tonight? It’s on at 10pm. It stars Shemar Moore, formerly of Y&R, & Criminal Minds. He is one hunk of hoooot chocolate!!! He’s the leader of a SWAT team.
Sue, I’m sorry for your loss. It’s always hard to lose family members. I never know what to say. I’m always afraid I’m gonna say something wrong. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

Hi Ladies,
Well, I didn’t have any kids drop by tonight. For the first time in 10 yrs it isn’t raining for Halloween. So maybe the kids went elsewhere for their treats around the neighborhood. In light of what happened today, parents are probably sticking close to home tonight.
Oh say, I’ve been meaning to ask, I have some Quacker Christmas sweaters that I keep packing up & I was wondering if anyone would be interested? I got them probably 20 yrs ago. I have a black one with Christmas ornaments embroidered on it. No pockets, tho. The others are of Christmas scenes. I’ll check the sizes & take pics of each one & send along with one of my posts.
Can you believe it’s the 1st of Nov? Time to put up my turkey décor now. and start going thru my Christmas décor. Speaking of Christmas I got my Temptations oval centerpiece bowl in FL Festive. It’s gorgeous!!! I’m gonna fill it with ornaments & set it out on one of my shelves.

The strangest thing just happened. I logged off when I sent my last post & when I came back on I had to sign back in again. Weird.
We don’t get many kids up here. One of the ladies a couple floors down brings her grandson to my door, but that’s about all.

Just a quick reminder that QF is on tomorrow afternoon ET. Adele, I’m glad your cookies dried out. It just took them longer than you thought. As you can see, I’m not a baker. Not like you, anyway.
I hope you got your power back. We had some power outages this morning due to high winds. they started during the night, but no rain. When the East winds begin this time of yr they are COLD!!! No matter how many layers you have on they cut right thru. I’m not looking forward to the cold weather!!
From the sounds of it we’re in for another cold winter like last yr. UGH!!

that’s too bad about the ghost cookies. Are they made from that marshmallow stuff? That’s what it looks like to me. Try again. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again, as the old saying goes. Practice makes perfect… mine don’t always come out right.

I’m glad I was able to make you smile again. I keep trying.

Another lazy Sunday out here. Today it’s cloudy but no rain. It was foggy when I woke up this morning. Typical October weather.
Sue, hon, the guy was being gentlemanly & kind to you. He was performing a random act of kindness. When someone shows me kindness I say Thank you & smile. Don’t feel bad about it. Just think of it as an act of kindness when someone helps you.
Adele, I am soooooooo glad I was able to make you laugh with that pic of the owls. It says it all, doesn’t it?! LOL I hope you’re feeling better now. The Halloween ghosts are cute. I could never make anything that cute. I’m not talented in baking. Oh say the Halloween Wars are on tonight on the Food channel. The finals I believe. Don’t know what time they’re on. Congrats on your anniversary. that hot beef sandwich sounds awfully good!!! Making my mouth water. I LOVE French Dips, but the Au Ju dip is waaaaay to salty for me. Sigh. Always something I shouldn’t eat.
Oh, I got something funny to tell you; the other day I was going out to the store, & when I opened the door there was a helium balloon on my door. It has a pic of Grumpy cat, it says, Better with age….NOPE. Critt got it for me. He saw it & couldn’t resist. I laughed out loud when I saw it. I took it down to show Kay & she laughed too. You should hear our banter, you’d think we hated each other. But we don’t. He starts spouting off & I tell him to shut up, & he says Yes boss.
That is so weird about the pic turning right side up when you click on it. Colleen said the same thing with another pic that was upside down when I sent it. Strange spooky thing, huh?

Hi Ladies,
Oh Adele, I’m so sorry for the pain you’re going thru right now. I wish I could be there to give you a big hug & pray with you. It seems like the universe is against you right now, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. It may not seem like it right now, but you’ll come thru this. I don’t understand the hospital not being more accessible. I know all too well about the parking spaces being soooo close you can’t get out. Been there done that.
Barbara has a GREAT IDEA about getting in touch with the dept of Aging. Here it’s called Aging & Disabilities. that’s how I got here where i’m at. It took awhile, but I got here. I could be living on the street otherwise. They can put you in touch with other agencies that can help you out. They got me signed up for SSD, food stamps, housing, transportation to & from appts. I had no income for almost a yr before my SSD kicked in, so I was glad to get the food stamps at that time. It was thru my Dr’s office that I was able to get in touch with them in the beginning.

Barbara, have you seen those humidifiers on the Q? the ones that put out cool moist air? I would suggest your family get one for the itty bitty. It would make breathing a lot easier for him at night. The air is too dry & that’s what causes distress in little ones. We haven’t had a lot of cold weather here yet but I can already tell my nasal passages, etc are dry. I should get one myself. You would think that with all the rain we get I wouldn’t have trouble, but with the windows closed now I do.
Nothing much going on around here. I’ll be sending pics I took of the leaves in the neighborhood. The streets are lined with these HUGE trees that are turning a gorgeous red. I took em from the laundry room yesterday, so I was above them. The bldg. is a church. I’m surrounded by churches. an Episcopal, Jewish temple, Catholic church a few blocks away.
Our weather is gorgeous for this late in October. Sunny, warm, low to mid 70s (YES that’s right)! And will be that way thru Halloween. Usually by now it’s pouring rain, or foggy, & down right cold. But the rain is coming back in Nov. We’re savoring every moment while it lasts. We know the cold weather is coming.
Oh by the way, I turn 68 in Jan. too. My how time flies!!
I’ll try to send some eye candy for you girls too along with the leaves.

Hi Ladies,
Well, the rain is gone & we’re drying out. The coast got hammered & there’s flooding along the Oregon coast. I don’t know about around here. I haven’t seen or heard about any. Trees are down around the area. Now we’re set to dry out the rest of the week they say. There were alerts about landslides in the Gorge, but I haven’t heard if any happened. They could come later down the road.
Adele, I hope you’re feeling better now. I lost a good friend of mine earlier this yr. It takes time to accept the loss. I’m starting to get my Christmas décor out to go thru. No, I haven’t put the tree up just yet, lol. I’ll wait till after Halloween. The wreath is beautiful. I couldn’t make one like that!! it takes a lot of talent to do that. I wish I could.
Colleen, I hope you find an honest person to do the work on your house. I’m convinced it’s an animal that’s chewed thru the wiring somewhere. Since it’s in a specific area & not the whole house. Several yrs ago I was having trouble with my TV cable & couldn’t figure out what the problem was. they’d come out & check the connections & said everything looked fine. It wasn’t until they went up into the attic of the apt & found the wiring was chewed thru by an animal, a squirrel they said. He fixed the wiring & that fixed the problem. They love to chew thru wires. Even in cars!!!
Well, I guess that’s about it from here.
