    Hi Ladies,
All I can say is PRAISE THE LORD!!! After a very looong week of hot temps & a smoky haze over Portland, a marine front came thru overnight & blew out the smoky haze so we can actually see the clear blue sky today!!!!!!!!!!! It’s been AWFUL this week!! I don’t know what they’ve been reporting back there, but last weekend a North wind blew smoke from fires in British Columbia, Canada down here, all the way down the NW. then to add to it we have a wildfire in Eastern/Central Oregon. But it isn’t close to me. Let me clarify that the haze wasn’t due to cars, industrial smog, just smoke from fires. If the temps continue to be in the 90s the rest of the week, we’ll break the record set back in 2009, when we had 24 days of 90+ temps in Aug. It was reeeeaallllyyy bad that yr!!! I hope we don’t by not reaching 90 degrees this weekend. Oh, here’s a little tidbit for ya.. I checked out the Weather Channel on cable earlier this week, & they had one of their guys out here in downtown Portland reporting on the heat & the haze. That NEVER happens. They report from every place else but out here.
Adele, I can’t believe you’ve never frozen corn before!! Growing up my dad planted rows & rows of corn & we’d freeze nearly all of it. Just blanch it cut it off the cob, & bag it up. That sweet corn in winter, there’s nothing better!!!!! I can taste it now!! I just wish I had a large enough freezer so I could freeze some for this winter. We used to freeze just about everything. What we didn’t mom would can, mostly peaches, pears. Brings back memories.
I hope your family members are doing well.
Sue, congrats on your accomplishments with your knee, & losing weight. I wish I could lose some weight, but I love ice cream too much!! Altho with this hot weather we’ve been having, it’s too hot to cook so I’ve been eating lighter.
I’m having Chinese take out with Critt tonight. I haven’t had it quite awhile so that should be fun. They had a free French toast & bacon brunch yesterday & I told him it was on me, that I’d pay for it LOL. Cheap date.
well, it’s nap time so I’ll close for now.
    have a great weekend girls.

    Hi Ladies,
We are sweltering out here in the NW!!!! Thank goodness the humidity is in the 20s. But on top of the hot temps now we’re inundated with the smoke from the wild fires in Canada. Not mention the ones in our own state. We could use some of that rain that you guys are having. That’s saying a lot since we had so much earlier this year. No clear indication of a cool down anytime soon either. Its supposed to cool down to the 90s over the weekend. That’s not a real cool down in my book!!
This heatwave even made the national news & Live with Kelly & Ryan this morning.
Where did July go?? It sure flew by didn’t it?? Next thing I know I’ll be decorating for fall & Halloween!! I hope everyone enjoyed the last CIJ show on Monday. Gail, I hope you were able to see Jim Shore.
The bug lady came yesterday, & signed off stating she didn’t find any bugs this time. Here comes the ‘but’. But she checked off another inspection the end of the month. Really??! I’m done. I’m putting some stuff back out. They’ve never done this before.
I haven’t read the posts yet so if I left something out don’t be offended.

Oh Adele, when you had PT on your shoulder did you wake up the next morning in excrutiating pain? I went to the PT on Monday & this one did a massage with a vibrating wand (no comments from the peanut gallery). It felt good as she did it. But the next day I couldn’t get out of bed. My whole right arm was in pain!! I took a double dose of my pain killers that day. It feels a little bit better today but it still hurts. Did yours do that? the first Dr I saw gave me a couple gentle exercises to do.
Well, I guess that;s all for now.
    Take care.

    Hi Ladies,
I hope you’re all having a great weekend. I also hope your weather is easing up. The National weather bureau has put out a weather advisory for extreme heat this week. I’ve heard as high as 107-110 Thurs.!!! It’s gonna be a record breaker!! As long as my AC holds up I’ll be okay. the one thing about the heat is the humidity goes way down.
In case you didn’t know all day Monday is CIJ on the Q. It’s the wrap up of it. lol Oh, I see that Jim Shore will be on twice that day. At 6 am & again at 10 am ET both times.
There’s nothing on tv tonight. Oh Adele, they’re showing Tom’s Jesse Stone movies on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Sunday starting at 9am. I know you’ve seen em all several times but they do kill the time.
I start my PT Monday morning. I have to make an appointment with the eye Dr. I haven’t had em checked for 2 yrs now. My glasses are scratched up & my eyesight is blurry so it’s time. Funny thing is the eye Dr. is in the same clinic, just on different floors.
    Well, that’s all from here.
    Enjoy the CIJ finally Monday.

    Hi Ladies,
I’m alive & well. I just haven’t had much to write about this week. Pretty dull. But that’s about to change. We’re in for another heatwave this coming week. they’re saying up to triple digits by mid week. We could see 107 by Thursday. It’s been really nice up to now. Now it’s getting hotter every day. Altho I could feel a tiny bit of chill in the air in the morning. a few days we had cloud cover but they burned off by noon or so. It felt refreshing actually. I hope all of you are safe. I heard about some severe storms out your way. Stay safe girls.

I haven’t read all your posts yet so if I miss something don’t feel offended. Oh Adele I did see yours about how high it is to buy a house. I have to gently disagree with you. Behind the SF Bay area, Portland is the next highest in the country. Rent is SKY ROCKETING!! Developers are swooping in causing the rent to go sky high, leaving working people on the streets!! Rent has almost doubled this year. As has the homelessness. It’s a sin!!! the city council has had to pass legislation that prevents landlords from evicting for no cause, just so they can raise the rent!! It’s insane!! So is buying a house. I don’t understand how anyone can afford the outrageous prices of houses.
I’m supposed to get sprayed this week, of course when it’s gonna be soooooo hot! I hope it’s the end of it, as I haven’t been able to take a shower all month!!
I don’t know how you felt about the new healthcare plan, but I’m glad it didn’t pass the Senate!!! I didn’t like the cuts to Medicare/Medicade since I’m on it now. There would’ve been too many without healthcare, & I know all tooo well how that feels. It’s even scarier now. I think those in Washington should have to give up theirs, so they could see how it feels to be without it. I’ll bet they’d come up with something in no time if they had to go without it for very long. I’m not on Obamacare, I make too much $ for that, but I am on Medicare.
Well, it’s time for ice cream so I’ll go for now..
    take care.

    Hi Ladies,
WOW Gail!! I’m glad you were able to get into your house & get the generator up & running. Nothing worse than losing a newly laid floor or a fridge/freezer full of food!!! Everything now is soooooo dang expensive to replace. That must’ve been so terrifying for both of you. I’m glad you’re safe & sound now.
As for the eclipse, I don’t think the East coast will be able to see it. From what I’m gathering from the weather people, the track is across Oregon & the northern western states, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, some of the mid western states, but it falls away the further east it goes. Sorry. but if I know Oregon, clouds will make their way here. LOL Guess who’d get the last laugh if that does happen. I’ve heard they expect at least 100,000 people to make their way here, maybe even more than that. Who knows. I’m glad I don’t drive anymore & have to be out on the highways that day.

Adele, I hope you’re feeling a lot better now. No spicy foods for awhile. Just bland for the time being. Feel better soon!! Do you know about how Boston & Portland came to be? A coin flip decided, Boston, Mass,/Portland, Oregon, had it gone the other way I’d be in Boston, Or. Doesn’t sound right does it? Portland, Mass.? Noooooo.

Well, it’s CIJ on the Q this week. I’ve never heard of that guy that’s on with the TSV tonight.

Have any of you bought anything of Joan Rivers clothes? I know we’re Quackers, but I just wondered if they run small. When they have her clothes on they always look so tiny to me. Maybe it’s just me. Congrats on your purchases & I hope you enjoy them.
    Well, that’s all from here.
    Take care & stay safe!!

    Hi Ladies,
It’s been awhile since I was on here. I hope everyone’s feeling better now. And I hope your heat wave is cooling down by now. We were 90 on Sat. but was in the low 80s today. Perfect. I wish I could bottle this weather up in a bottle & sell it to you guys back there! I could make a fortune!! We did get a few sprinkles mid week, but not enough to do any good. Just enough to break the 34 day dry spell. That’s not a record tho. The record is 71 days. We woke up this morning to what I’d call an early taste of fall. It was cloudy & real cool. No rain or anything, just really cool for July.

Now is not a good time for the AC to break down & you have to get a new one. Why is it, things always seem to happen like that just at the worst possible time?
Adele, when you went to PT for your shoulder how many times a week did they schedule you for? I went last Thurs. & they scheduled me for 2 times/ week, for 4 weeks starting the first week of Aug. The therapist is a cutie too. He gave me a couple exercises to start off with using my cane. I’m using my right arm as much as possible so as to not let it freeze up. It swears at me from time to time, but nothing too serious. The Dr. gave me a pain killer, but I only take it at bedtime as it makes me sleepy. Like I’ve said, I HATE taking pills as it is.
I haven’t heard anything back from the main office about my email. But Critt did tell me that the management here got called to the main office & had to close up the office early on Friday. I don’t know yet what that was about.

Have you heard about the total eclipse of the sun that’s going to happen next month? Well, Oregon is in it’s direct path as it occurs. They’re expecting ALOT of people to come to Oregon to see it. The town I lived in is in direct line of view of it. If I know Oregon weather it’ll be cloudy that morning. It’s only going to last a couple of minutes, that;s all. They expect thousands of people to show up, making it dangerous for wildfires, too. The news media has been going on & on about it for weeks now.
Miss Jewell is next to me taking a cat nap right now.
I have to agree about how they dress (if you can call it that), on tv nowadays. If I were to wear something like that when I was growing up, I would’ve been knocked into next week. I was taught to dress respectfully or don’t go out. We were taught modesty, which doesn’t exist anymore. No one needs to see their stuff.
I can’t think of anything else for now.
Have a good week & stay cool!!!

Oh, do any of you remember the old box style coolers that you had to put water in to make it cool? That’s what we had growing up. We never had AC growing up.

    Hi Ladies,
Adele, I’m glad to hear you got your laptop back. Isn’t it funny how we feel when we don’t have our electronics handy when they go on the blink & they have to go to the shop. They become our ‘security blanket’ of sorts.
Well, I took my half a mind & sent off an email to the head office about my injury & how I’m living right now. They don’t like hearing about a resident getting hurt on their property. I basically told em exactly what I said on here. We’ll see what happens in the next few days. the office here is closed on Wed. so I won’t know anything till tomorrow or Friday. And that’s if I hear anything at all.
I hear we’re gonna have a heatwave this weekend into next week. So we’re not immune to the heat. We haven’t broken any records this year, which is fine with me.
Well, that’s about all from here.
    take care.

    Hi Ladies,
Sorry to hear about your laptop dying on you Adele. Computers are such a pain at times. I hope it’s a simple fix. I’ve been told that if it’s too expensive it’s better to get a new one. My first laptop I got off the q. It was a Dell & had it for several yrs. then it started going whacky so I ordered an HP & that’s what I have right now. I have a tablet from Verizon but I don’t/can’t do emails on it like I can on here. I get the posts, but the print is so tiny it hurts my eyes. Same goes for my phone. Don’t go crazy on us now. lol It’ll be fine.

Well, it seems I tore something in my shoulder, called the rotator cuff. My Dr. has put me in PT for now, along with some pain killers. I have half a mind to complain to the head office about it. I can’t take a shower cuz the tub is full of those bags, & I can barely get to the toilet as it is. I hurt myself trying to make my apt livable till the 1st. This is toooo much!!!
    Sorry I had to vent.

I see most if not all of you will be under a huge bubble of hot air this week. Take extra care in it. We don’t have the humidity but when we have a heatwave like that they tell us to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. I can’t imagine living in that humidity. Please take extra care of yourselves. We went from the wettest/coldest winters/spring to now we’re tinder dry. It didn’t take long to dry out. We’re in for a heatwave next week they say.
I got that Copper Chef TSV from last week. All my fry pans are ready for the trash, & I thought I’d get this set & throw away the old ones. the nonstick has gone & probably isn’t a good thing to use. All I need is a couple of pans now. These are smaller & take up a lot less room too. Besides I have a crush on Eric. He can come to my home & cook for me anytime!!!!
Jewell’s next to me taking a cat nap, lol.

Here is my email address in case any of you want to email me when you can’t get on here.

    dianned58@gmail.com

Well, I guess that’s all for now. Take care!!!
