HI,
Just a quick note to let ya know I’m safe. It’s the low lands, farms, that are having high water. The rain should lighten up after tonight. I hope.Adele, I’ve used cream of mushroom soup in a crock pot before. Just add some water to it & stir it to mix it up. I use it a lot when I fry pork chops, chicken, pork steak. I brown the meat, then pour out the grease, but leave the bits & pieces in the pan. I stir the soup in the pan stirring it so it takes in all the bits & pieces & takes on the flavor left by the meat. Add a can of water & stir it in. then I put the meat back in making sure I cover the meat with the soup. Cover the pan & let the meat simmer on lower heat, turning the meat so both sides get a good basting. It makes a wonderful gravy, & it makes the meat moist, esp the chops & steaks. (I just had dinner & I’m making myself hungry.) LOL
Oh, tomatoes, most fruits, come to the stores green as gourds & hard as rocks so you have to wait a couple of days before they’re ripe enough to use.Have a great Friday.

Well, it’s another soggy day here today, as well as yesterday(Wed.) We may float out to sea yet. lol. There’s minor flooding in the low lying areas in the Portland area. It’s been a pretty wet Feb.
I don’t remember asked, but I went to beauty school back in the 70s, & we did learn that medicine does affect your hair. However it has more to do with perming or coloring your hair. If your hairdresser asks about your meds it’s because the acids, & other chemicals can turn your hair various colors, depending on what you’re taking. I suppose nowadays they’ve taken care of that issue with the new technologies. I don’t know about turning the hair curly. I wish it did, as mine is fine as baby’s hair & straight as a board. The curliness comes from the hair follicles in the scalp. And yes the meds come out in the hair, finger & toe nails, & probably the eyebrows/lashes. Anything that grows out from the skin.Adele, I’ll be right out & I’ll eat your meals. I’ll hop on my broom as soon as it stops raining. lol. There’s no reason why he couldn’t eat just the meat if he doesn’t like the rice. I;m not crazy about rice, myself, because I still feel empty after eating it. I don’t blame you for being ticked off!! I would be too.
Have you tried cooking the chicken or pork in mushroom soup? It makes wonderful gravy!!
You won’t regret getting a new iPhone! They’re lots of fun. at least for me.
Gail, do you grow asparagus? I’ll move right in if ya do, lol. I LOVE asparagus. The local store has em on sale this week for Valentines day. I try to get as many as I can afford to. Otherwise they’re really expensive till later in the spring. Anyone who grows em is my new BFF!! LOL.
You’re all right about the roses not having any fragrance anymore. It’s a shame too. Same goes for berries. The strawberries we get here are red but they’re hard as rocks when you go to bite into them. We wait till our season in late May early June to get em here. they’re much sweeter when they’re home grown. Where I grew up we had an annual Strawberry Festival, & had the largest strawberry shortcake in the area the first week of June. I can’t wait for the spring & summer seasons.in reply to: February-Will the Groundhog See His Shadow? #55920Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note to let ya know I’m okay. Our weather has calmed down quite abit this weekend. The temps were in the low 50s which is fine with me.
We had 58 on Thurs. but it was a pineapple express bringing a ton of rain. We’re supposed to get another one later this week. I made good on the good weather by getting out Sat., & Monday I plan to get out again. I’ve had a bad case of cabin fever, as I’m sure all of you have. The window where we could get snow is getting smaller by the day. the mts will still get it but we won’t….I hope!!I got to catch both QF shows this weekend. Soooo many cute things. I wanted all of the striped tops with the critters on them. The lavender with the blue butterflies, red with lady bugs, etc. And the patriotic tops, wildflower tops, all of em!! Only in my dreams.
All your dinners/meals sounded so wonderful. I love prime rib.
Have you heard about the 4 month old baby that was prevented from coming to America due to the travel ban? Well, she’s here in Portland’s Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) & she’ll get her heart surgery sometime this week. I was ready to go to DC myself to get her over here. (Not that I think they’d listen to me, lol)!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day.
Have a great week!
ddin reply to: February-Will the Groundhog See His Shadow? #55664Hi Ladies,
I’m alive. I hope everyone’s okay. We’re having wave after wave of rain. At first they said it was gonna be snow again, but it didn’t happen down here, but in the higher elevations around here. Now it’s land & mudslides that are causing problems. If it isn’t one thing it’s another.
I haven’t read all the posts but I did see one that caught my eye. I saw the word scoliosis. I have it. It’s curvature of the spine. It’s caused when one or more of the vertebrae aren’t in align with the rest of the spine, causing the curvature. I heard about surgery to correct it but then I heard horror stories about the outcome. so I’d do my research on it. When I first read about it in the 80s they would hook a rod onto the spine causing the spine to straighten up. Then you’d be in a body cast for months. I’m sure that isn’t the case now. I’m sure they’ve gotten better technology now. They probably use braces now Do a lot of research on it. I didn’t have the internet back then. I’m just lucky I was able to do the open heart surgery when I did & live to tell the story.
Adele, congrats to the Pats. I went over to Kay’s & we had Chinese delivered. It was funny, she had on the colors of the Pats, & I had the colors of the Falcons on, & we didn’t plan it that way. I didn’t care one way or the other, really. Since Seattle wasn’t in it, it didn’t matter. So after half time I left cause it was a blow out at that point. I guess I missed the best part of the game. Anyway congrats.I went downstairs to put $ on my laundry card & found a dude sound asleep in a sleeping bag in there. I went to get management & she took care of him. This was 1 in the afternoon!!! And we don’t need guards. Hellllloooooo.
Well, I guess that’s all for now.Take care
ddin reply to: February-Will the Groundhog See His Shadow? #55448Hi Ladies,
I guess we all had to sign in again, cause I had the same thing happen to me the last time I posted on here.
Well, here we go again!! They’re predicting a big snow storm for Super bowl Sunday!! They’re not clear whether or not it’s gonna be a big snow storm or a lot of rain. It depends on how cold it is, timing of when it hits, & where it hits!! It seems as tho this winter will not end!! I know it’s the middle of winter but enough is enough!!! We did freezing rain Thurs. night into Friday & it was a MESS!!! there was a 30 car pileup on one of the freeways. I had to run errands so I took a cab to the store. that was a first for me. I usually walk, but I wasn’t about to walk on the icy sidewalks. a lot of people were falling down around here, & I don’t need or want to fall again.Colleen, I’m glad you finally(!) heard from that Dr. I was beginning to think he didn’t exist. Either that or had a different name & they made a mistake.
I hope they find what those little bubbles are.
Adele, have you ever tried melted butter or margarine on the bagels? Just brush it on with one of those little brushes you use to baste poultry withI found a piece of pork loin in my freezer the other day, so I cooked it up & had Kay & Critt over for dinner last night. It turned out better than I thought it would. We had a good time.
Well, I guess that’s all for this time around. I missed the QF show the other day. Oh well
Have a great Sunday
ddin reply to: February-Will the Groundhog See His Shadow? #55272Hi Ladies,
Good news, I think we dodged a bullet. It appears we’re not getting the snow they were expecting, but some areas will see a snow & rain mix. Higher
elevations will get either, freezing rain or snow. But we could see freezing rain overnight, but should be gone by mid morning. I HOPE!! They’re using salt in the worst areas for the freezing rain, so that should help the morning commute. Then it changes to good ole Oregon rain by Friday afternoon. The weekend is supposed to be in the mid 40s so that eliminates any chance of snow. And the Best thing is the East wind will be gone. It’s been awful the past couple nights. Verrrrrry cold!!! I’m glad I didn’t have to be out in it!!!I get a chuckle out of you guys talking about your hubbies & their remotes, phones, etc. Can you believe we didn’t have those things a decade or so ago!
A while back Kay came to my door saying her TV wouldn’t come on. So I go over, pick up the remote, pressed one button & guess what, the TV came on.
When I did that she looked at me like “Really?”
Well, that’s all for now.
ddin reply to: February-Will the Groundhog See His Shadow? #55180Hi Ladies,
Well, we’re bracing for another round of snow & ice in a day or two. they’re saying the exact same thing they said last month, a trace to an inch of snow. Last time we got a foot of snow. The East wind is howling out there right now. that’s what makes it so darn coooold!!
By the way whether or not the ground hog sees his shadow, spring is 6 weeks away. lol
Colleen, have you tried Beano? Maybe that would help with those bubbles. (I didn’t say ‘tiny bubbles’) lol
I’ll be sending along some pics of Oregon that was on my Newsfeed on Facebook.Kay & I are planning to order Chinese food in for the Super bowl on Sunday. That’ll be fun & good. Since both teams are East coast teams don’t know who we’ll be rooting for.
Guess that’s all for tonight.
ddin reply to: January 2017 A New Year Full of New Adventures #55022Adele,
I talked to Kay, a registered nurse, & she said it could be your appendix. It’s on the lower right side. If it ruptures tho it could be dangerous. I’d look into it asap. You don’t want to take any chances esp at our age. Please don’t hesitate. OK?
ddin reply to: January 2017 A New Year Full of New Adventures #55018Hi Adele,
You need to get to your ER or Dr. right away. That doesn’t sound good at all. If they don’t find anything that’s better than not knowing. I don’t mean to be an alarmist, but something isn’t right. Pleeeease don’t wait. The symptoms for heart attacks for women are different than in men.
