I read on the Q boards that some people read on Facebook that DWTS is going over to Disney plus. Oh well-it was fun while it lasted. I’m not paying for any more services as DISH has already gotten way too expensive. Plus any streaming services aren’t that great for us as our internet service is not that great and there is a lot of buffering when we stream something. Just thought I’d give a heads up and see if anyone else has read this.
in reply to: Chit-Chat April 2022 #139844Hi Everyone,
Adele, could you Facetime with Tillie when one of the kids are there or something or would that just make it worse for her. I wonder if she really understands why you are not able to visit. I pray for you and her all the time. It’s kind of an impossible situation.
I’m glad that you will have family at Easter-sometimes we have to remember to think of what we do have and not what we don’t have-especially when it is out of our control.
I have no idea what we are doing for Easter as we have not had it at all for two years. Probably go to brunch and then have sandwiches here later on.
The candy store was called Riverside candy in I think McHenry. I have no idea if they have an online presence or not. I didn’t even go in because of my knee but Greg went in and brought me back a box of all mixed stuff like a sampler and Brent and Tynasha got all kinds of different things.
I’m not sure what 22 year old you were referencing-Isaiah is 12-maybe that’s who you meant.
He had a ball with Greg’s occulus-so much so that Brent bought one for the two of them. it’s so funny to watch people on the occulus-they look like they are crazy. lol since we can’t see what they are seeing and interacting with. lol
We haven’t watched Bridgerton since we don’t have Netflix-I think it’s actually based on a book series.
You are right we were pooped after the kids left and I napped almost every day this week after all the cleaning before they came and the activity while they were here.
Colleen, I have never seen my sister dance but I have seen movies of her dancing. She has been doing ball room dancing since way before DWTS.
We have been cold and rainy here with even some snow. In fact there was a dusting this morning. I’m afraid we are going to go straight from freezing to sweating with nothing in between.
Greg starts golfing next week. I hope it is warmer then.
Grayson should be fun for the Easter egg hunt this year. Nova is probably too young yet. When she is a little older Grayson will have a built in playmate.
We have been watching The Masked Singer. I actually guessed Penn and Teller for the hydra. I do so enjoy guessing and seeing all the elaborate costumes. It’s amazing how they are able to keep everyone a secret.
DD, I’m glad that Critt was okay. You must have thought that you were in for a treat when you opened the door to find six firemen there. lol
Your new shirt sounds pretty. I must have missed the seashell one. I am trying not to get much and use what I have since I have a lot already. We’ll see how long that lasts. lol
I heard other people saying they miss some of the older polka dot patterns from Temptations too. I guess she has so many patterns and colors it’s hard to keep up with all of them.
Does anyone do the daily Wordle puzzle. Yesterday Greg told me what the word was before I could work my own puzzle so he was in deep doodoo. lol
Gailin reply to: Chit Chat-March 2022 #139748I am starting a new April discussion. See you all there.
in reply to: Chit Chat-March 2022 #139519Funny the hair style is similar in both pictures although throughout my life I have had my hair very long to my butt and very short like a pixie.

in reply to: Chit Chat-March 2022 #139510Hi Everyone,
I will probably be mostly out of the loop the next week with Brent here. They’re supposed to get here by about nine tonight. Brent will be tired as he got off work came home and started driving here.
I’m not sure what we have planned for the week. I know we are all going to Great Wolf Lodge later in the week. The kids should enjoy the water park.
Colleen, you guys will be busy having a teenager in the house again. It will keep you young.
Adele, I hope they are able to find some help for Tillie. I hope all your tests turn out good too. You have to stay healthy.
DD, I hope things are well with you.
It’s still going to be cold here so we will have to find indoor things to do.
Gailin reply to: Chit Chat-March 2022 #139288Hi Colleen,
Yes those teenagers do eat! It’s like a herd of locusts.
Even at Jenny’s house with three kids sometimes she goes to the store and half of the stuff is eaten by the next day.
I remember when the kids were growing up Brent had two friends who were really tall and big and Brent is not tall but he was built like a football player and sometimes we would take him and his two friends to an all you can eat place and you could see the owners start shaking as he knew he would not get his money’s worth with these three big guys eating. lol
I am feeling better and my SIL is home and doing a lot better too. So that’s good.
I don’t think the older kids remember Brent very well. It should be a good reunion.
I think we will all have fun at the water park.
I don’t think Brent will be disappointed if he goes to see his bio Dad.
He doesn’t have any illusions or hasn’t romanticized his story. I think it’s more curiosity to see someone who might look like you and maybe to know your physical background. He idolizes Greg so in his heart that is his real Dad and he always tells us how much he appreciates us-so he knows who his “real” parents are. I think it’s healthy to get your curiosity satisfied so you can then see how things actually worked out for the best.
How is your weather? Have you had any really warm days? I bet Ron will be tilling the garden soon.
I’m looking forward to fresh asparagus maybe some time next month.
Gailin reply to: Chit Chat-March 2022 #139281Hi Adele,
You really are ahead of yourself. I have not even thought about Easter baskets yet. At least this year we should be able to get together on Easter-we have not for the past two years.
It’s too bad it’s not easier for you to get back and forth to the nursing home. At least the idea that you could go and visit when you wanted would make you feel better. We were lucky as when Greg’s Mom was in the nursing home we could come and go all the time since it was just in town. I was even able to bring the dogs in to visit her.
My SIL said she is doing better after getting the naso gastric tube even though she didn’t want to go that route it helped her. She is home and is feeling better.
Brent will be here next weekend.
Jenny said that Kendall is going to run track this year so that should be good. Jenny herself runs. I know they did a Saint Patricks run last weekend when it was so cold. We are losing our nice weather again for a few days. Maybe even rain changing to snow tonight.
I had these little light up solar Christmas trees around our gnome house-they were cute. So I got some light up solar flowers for the spring and Greg just put them out. They were four in a package and amazingly all four worked. Greg and I always laugh about all the stuff from China and how maybe if you order four two will work. Although sometimes if I get something that doesn’t work he can fix it. It sure is handy having a husband who knows how to fix a lot of stuff.
Gailin reply to: Chit Chat-March 2022 #139189Hi Adele,
It’s funny I guess how differently we all think of ourselves. I guess if the elderly in the states were revered like the elderly in some of the Asian cultures I wouldn’t mind being elderly. But here once you are past a certain age you seem to be disregarded as worthless so I guess that’s why I don’t like to consider myself elderly. I feel like I still have plenty to offer the world. lol
It’s not sad that you can’t give her the care she needs. It is no one’s fault and especially not yours. You have done the best you can for as long as you could and now it may be time for people more physically capable than you to take over.
Maybe I understood this wrong but even in your home I thought you were not able to get up and down the stairs to be with her physically-so what if there was an emergency and you two were the only ones there? Truly you are now thinking with your heart and not with your head. There is nothing to feel guilty about. Your mother does not blame you for the current situation. I know these things are hard to accept but Bobby may be right.
Are you physically unable to visit her in person yourself. It would be easier if you could at least do that.
None of this is your fault. You have cared for her for many many years. Sometimes, even though we wish it were not so older people just get tired out.
I am praying for your family. You and Gary also need to take care of each other. You are lucky to have Bobby and his help available to you too.
Sending you lots of hugs,
Gail -
