Hi Adele,
Ha ha you gave me a chuckle when you wrote to Colleen that you hoped the pregnancy was going well. It sounded like she was pregnant. lol That would be a miracle! lol The time is getting close that’s for sure.
I’m glad that you are improving. You had me frightened.
What did they say about you being able to take NSAIDS or prednisone as I know they are both hard on the stomach. If it’s not one things it’s another.
Fortunately they now have good ulcer medications.
My mother had ulcers for years and back then there wasn’t a lot that you could do. I remember her drinking baking soda and water all through my childhood and her not being able to eat many things. At some point when I was older she had an operation called a pyloroplasty or something like that and never had problems again. It was like a miracle for her.
It will be interesting to see what the nutritionist has to say. I didn’t know that about bananas but it makes sense as they seem pretty neutral. I hope that you like them.
I hope you are getting less humidity. Our weather has been nice. Less humid and cooler but we will be shooting back up to 90 this weekend.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Chat for September 2021 #134148Hi Everyone,
Adele, I hope that you are progressing well. The flowers from your neighbor are so pretty. I love sunflowers and fall arrangements.
Colleen, Grayson and the new baby will be pretty close in age so when she gets bigger I’ll bet they play together a lot.
Will the father be in the delivery room with Brook-if not will someone else be there? I surely hope so.
DD it’s good to know that you and Hallie are getting out.
My life is pretty boring since we still are not going out much and doing things.
We did go to a concert in our little local place last weekend. It’s nice to get out and see other people.
They were supposed to have moved the Milk Day parade from June to October but I doubt they will be having it at all again this year. I just don’t think this town is ready for the crowds that this event draws in. If they are going to cancel it they should announce it soon.
It amazes me when I see all the football stadiums packed full.
I see Broadway opened last night but I think you need proof of vaccination to attend unless you are a young person-but i am not sure if those are the rules-I am just assuming they would be.
The announcement of who wins AGT is tonight-I usually have a strong feeling of who will win but this year I am not sure at all. They need to have all these finales this week as next week the fall programs will start including The Voice, DWTS and The masked Singer and another singing show with people singing as their avatars. I think I will pass on that one. It’s just too many competition shows to watch at one time. Along with all the Halloween baking competitions that I like to watch on the food network. I would need to take up full time TV watching. lol
Gailin reply to: Quacker Chat for September 2021 #134028Just a quick note to catch you all up on Adele.
She was in the hospital for six days. She has an ulcer, UTI and her liver numbers were out of whack.
She is home now and says she is still very weak and can barely walk with walker.
I hope she is now on the road to recovery. I said I wished I lived closer as i would come over and nurse her.
Praying for a full and speedy recovery.in reply to: Quacker Chat for September 2021 #133991Hi Everyone,
When I went online this morning I had an email from Adele which said she was very weak and in the hospital. So I have no idea what is going on as I hadn’t heard from her in several days with the long weekend and such. I think prayers are in order, please. I sure hope she will feel better soon! This is scary.
I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. Ours was very quiet-we didn’t even have a barbecue with Jenny. We did see them for our usual Friday night visit though. But Ricky locked his keys in his car at work so Jenny had to drive over with the spare key-so we stayed back with the kids and to pay for the dinner that we had ordered for all of us. It seems since the pandemic our lives have gotten very quiet and we have turned into home bodies.
Two days ago we had some storms pass through and we had huge hail stones-it looked like popcorn was popping all over the lawn.
I hope that I have better news to share about Adele soon and that she will be on the road to recovery. If you all hear anything please let the rest of us know.
Colleen, it’s only about six weeks or so until the new baby comes. It’s hard to believe how quickly the time has flown.
Prayers for Adele.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Chat for September 2021 #133829Hi Colleen,
The Labor Day picnic sounds like fun. I hope the weather is good. This is the time of year when I prefer to do outdoor stuff as it has cooled down a little. Greg says he thinks all the hummingbirds are gone now-on their way to where ever they go in the winter. maybe Mexico? There were a lot of them the last couple of weeks and now nothing.
I’m glad that you are reading again. I never stopped and have probably read extra during the pandemic. I have only read a few of the first Patrick Taylor’s I still have quite a few to read in the series. i just jump around a lot and am not one of those people who reads a series straight through like some do.
I just recently read Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg and really enjoyed it. Now I have to watch the movie sometime as the women on the QVC book thread said it was good.
I just bought a book about quilters recently because it was set in the Wisconsin Dells which is a place that we are familiar with-I wonder if it is the same book that you are talking about. I will have to find it and see what the name is. I might have seen it on Book Bub-I get a lot of ideas from them and from Bookreporters too. I got a laugh because when you meant to write Book Bub you wrote Book Boob instead and it made me laugh out loud. Good thing I didn’t have a mouth full of coffee! lol
I know what you mean-my Mom and I also used to talk about what we were reading a lot and for years I would think-Oh I have to tell Mom about this book and then remember that she was gone. Fortunately Jenny likes to read and so now I can pass along books to her-although she doesn’t have a lot of time to read she still enjoys it.
The dizzy spells could be caused by something in your ear. I hope that you can get that figured out soon and something can be done to help you. Feeling dizzy is awful.
Stay safe but have fun!
Gailin reply to: Quacker Chat for August 2021 #133773Starting new discussion for September. See you all there.
in reply to: Quacker Chat for August 2021 #133377Hi Everyone,
DD we are safe here. I am in Illinois, Colleen is in Missouri and Adele is in Massachusetts-so she would be the one getting the remnants of the last hurricane. Barbara lived in Tennessee and Sue lived in Pennsylvania. Colleen and i would get the midwest weather. Although she is quite a bit south of me as we are up right on the Illinois border with Wisconsin.
Not too much going on around here. The kids went back to school last Wednesday.
Jenny got her first shot of the vaccine yesterday. Woohoo! So now both kids will be vaccinated as Brent got his first shot a few weeks back. They all tell me that i can stop nagging them now. lol (I guess it worked) lol Now if we could just get the grands vaccinated we could breathe a sign of relief. But the two younger ones don’t have a vaccine approved for them yet. Hopefully that will be coming in the next several months.
Ha ha Adele, I wish I could convince myself that a slice of cucumber was a cookie. lol I would be a lot better off.
You know I had that bronchitis about a month ago but I still have a little bit of a cough-it just seems to take longer to go away when we get older.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Chat for August 2021 #133143Hi Everyone,
I hope that you are all doing well.
The kids go back to school Wednesday-much too soon.
DD can you have a window AC unit-or one of those portable ones that you vent like a dryer like Adele mentioned. It would be awful to be without in the high heat that you have been having. What do they have in the community room to keep that cool. I know many homes in the Pacific northwest don’t have AC but maybe they will have to reconsider with global warming and such.
Adele, I am trying to down size my decorating too but I must admit I succumbed to buying a couple things this weekend. What I really wanted was those Temptations fiber optic candles-darn-they showed them at 2 in the morning and by the time I saw them they were long gone. It’s funny too because i check the new arrivals everyday but I totally missed those. i wonder if they showed up on one of the days that I was gone last week so that’s how I missed them. I keep checking back in case someone cancels their order but I bet people won’t. Remember several years back when fiber optic stuff was so popular and now it’s kind of disappeared from view.
I am stubborn though and will keep looking. Last year i wanted this one Halloween wall flower from Bath and Body Works that showed a witch on the wall but found it too late and the only place you could get it was on the secondary market where people were charging an arm and a leg and I refuse to pay that much. so I knew they would have a new one this year as it was so popular so i started stalking the site in July-somehow I missed when it went on sale and by the time I saw it it was gone again-but i kept checking back and caught it on a day when they got a new shipment online so I was able to get it. The one this year projects bats-I like the one from last year better but I’ll take what I can get. lol
So last week we went with Jenny and the kids to a place not far away in Wisconsin on the Rock River. So the place was an airbnb-the pictures were nice and it wasn’t a bad house and the write up said it had AC-but it didn’t say it had central Ac-we just assumed. Well we get there and we’re wondering why we can’t get the AC in the downstairs to work and we check and there is no outdoor unit-just two window units in each of the upstairs bedrooms-the two bedrooms down stairs and family room and kitchen had nothing. Needless to say Greg and I slept upstairs. lol Plus when we were there last week was when it was 90 plus degrees so the downstairs would get to be 85-we had fans running but they did nothing. So a couple hours after we get there it gets stormy sirens go off-there’s a tornado warning and the house has no basement-Jenny is deathly afraid of tornados so she was freaking out-but all was well. The following night it stormed like crazy again-and the next day there were tornado warnings but three counties away and she’s checking every two seconds to see whether it’s coming toward us. We’re trying to keep her calm saying there’s no use worrying until you have to but that’s easier said than done when someone has a phobia-I think she finally took a xanax. I hope she doesn’t make her kids so afraid. That last night there was a beautiful red sunset all in the sky and reflecting on the water-but photos just don’t show it right. Anyway-we had a good time-the river is not really for swimming but the kids enjoyed being on the kayacks and paddle boards. One day they all went to a water park type place. Greg enjoyed being able to take his fishing pole and go right out to the dock and fish. Piper asked why doesn’t he fish in our pond at home-i go because he doesn’t want to catch those fish-she said why-he could just throw them right back. lol
Anyway, i think I have Jenny convinced now to come up north with me and Greg for week next year where we can rent a place on a lake where the kids can swim and Greg can fish-a nice clean lake. We were going to rent a pontoon boat one day but they were all taken and by the time they were available in the evening it was raining again. it was a little bit of a Griswald vacation-but we had fun anyway.
Gailin reply to: Quacker Chat for August 2021 #132788Adele,
Rice and asparagus? I would never have thought of putting those two together.
I hope that Gary feels better soon.
Isn’t that just how it goes. You want Tillie to come up and she doesn’t want to come-then you want her to stay down and away from Gary and she wants to come up. lol It’s always something.
Rainy here this morning and going to be hot and humid the next several days. High heat indexes-stay inside time for me.
The kids were at the fair this weekend. I know Piper showed a pig-don’t know if the others did anything. I will find out if they have any blue ribbons.
That’s so weird that things post twice. It must depend on what operating system we are using or something.
Sometimes it seems like computers just have a mind of their own or something.
