Great news everyone. I had an e-mail from Debbie last night. She has been going to a chiropractor and that has helped her ear tremendously. She is also doing some food allergy testing but says the masto will sometimes skew the results-so she is also experimenting with which foods might be triggers. She has taken some trips with the garden club and is working in her yard and planting so she must be feeling pretty good. She says to say hi to all. Man I am relieved as i hadn’t had any answers to my last three e-mails. Whhhoooo-Hooooo!

    Hi Colleen,
I have lots of tools for help opening bottles and jars with weakened hands. I would be lost without them and scissors. I remember when my Mom used to have trouble opening things and I would just roll my eyes and now I am in the same boat. Sometimes at Jenny’s I can’t get things open for the kids and I don’t have any of my tools and I get so frustrated. Especially because Adam is 6 foot 5 and he closes everything really tightly.
I remember seeing that motorcycle episode on American Pickers. Sometimes they do really nice things for the people where they are picking.
I saw Chic’s night in-not much there and they repeated every item.I guess Angel is on vacation so Patrick is covering for her. I hope she’s having fun.
I think Greg e-mailed Amazon trying to figure out where this package came from. I don’t know how long they will take to get back to him.
Kendall is having her ultrasound today. At first they told Jenny she would have to do two-one fasting and one full kidneys but then they said they can do both at once so that’s good. Hope everything checks out okay. She hasn’t had any problems for a couple weeks so it’s looking more and more like it might be those abdominal migraines.
It’s cold here again. I guess spring just can’t make up it’s mind.

    Hi Adele,
Every time I write to you I think that I am writing to the singer. By the way-I love your music lol.
Does Tilly have the braces on both feet now? How is she doing? I know what you mean about people looking at you funny. Sometimes I just want to scream-yes, I am fat! But I used to be thin and I am still the same person that I was then so put away your dirty look and stop being so judgemental. You never know it could happen to you-I never imagined it would happen to me but here I am and I have just as much right to be here and enjoy my life as you do-so just tuck away your snotty thoughts and have a little compassion. So there! Anyway, what I’m saying is I get it and I don’t understand that person’s attitude. If I see someone struggling I try and give a hand if I am capable. She would feel so much better about herself if she lent a hand. Okay, I’m done now-that just pisses me off-pardon my French.
I hope that you and Nancy enjoyed your blue plate special. Every once in awhile Greg and I will find ourselves coming back from somewhere and wanting to stop for dinner but it will only be four or so and we will be laughing about how old we are getting eating dinner so early. lol
How nice for Marissa to make a stop for breakfast. Too bad she got called in to work and you didn’t have enough time to chat.
Boy! It’s cold here again-in the 40’s. Brrrrr!
Jenny has a couple of years to find someone to make a dress as I don’t think you can enter the contest until you are five.
Okay so a phosphate is seltzer mixed with a chocolate sauce or a strawberry sauce to get a chocolate phosphate. They used to make them at a regular soda shop. I doubt that you can get them anymore. Don’t ask me why they call them egg creams in NY. I haven’t had one since I was a kid and we had a regular soda fountain in town.

    Hi Colleen,
I’m sorry that the arthritis is bothering your fingers now. I’ve been having problems with my hands too lately from the RA. But I also don’t want to be put on more medicine so I’m hoping that it’s a flare that will pass. About all we can do is try to keep them moving so as not to lose mobility. My Mom’s fingers got bent to the sides but she still managed to play her keyboard and crochet-it was probably good for her fingers.
Most people hire someone to make the princess dresses now-years ago the kids mom’s would make them but now they have gotten so intricate they are beyond the skills of many home sewers.
I think many of those people that have those buildings full of stuff that they never even look at have to be some form of hoarders. I just can’t understand the mentality of not wanting to part with it if it’s just going to sit there and disintegrate otherwise. Now when Greg and I are driving someplace and we see somewhere with a lot of junk laying around we always remark about how Mike and Frank would like that place.
We have been lucky and the storms have missed us so far.
I remember when we went to see the Baraboo circus. Because all the seats were so good we were sitting towards the front but it made me very nervous when they had that performing bear in the ring without any kind of leash and they weren’t in a cage of any sort. I was just about ready to bolt right out of there. That made me nervous.
I’m with you. I like the Rykas much better than the Vionics- I have not been able to wear those-they rub in the wrong place or something. You should sign up for the daily newsletter from zulily that tells you what they have for sale each day. Sometimes they have Rykas or Skechers and the prices were good.
Thanks for the info about the meters. I told Greg about that this morning. He has a doctor’s appointment on Friday so we’ll see if she wants to put him on medication or what and he will take his meter and strips with him.
Here’s something weird. Yesterday Greg got this delivery of a huge box from Amazon Pantry and I couldn’t figure out what the heck he could have ordered or why he would have ordered from Amazon pantry as that’s more something that I would do as it is food or household things like laundry detergent or paper towels or things like that. He didn’t get home until later as he had rehearsal so as soon as he got home I asked him what the heck he had ordered from Amazon Pantry. Of course he said he didn’t and i said i didn’t either. So he opens it up and it’s got several boxes of coffee and things to use with your Kuereg. There’s no invoice in the box so we have no idea where it came from. The only thing we can figure is it’s a mistake or there is a guy that he does business with that has been sending him stuff lately so it could be from him. It’s really weird! Maybe we have a fairy godmother!

    Dianne,
I’m sorry that you hurt your back. Back’s are so funny and sometimes it just takes the smallest thing to set them off. I know sometimes my husband will hurt his just from bending down or the smallest little movement. He has sciatica and he usually goes to the chiropractor when he is having problems. It was smart to go get checked out though because if it was something with your heart that needs immediate attention.
When my MIL lived with us we would have someone from a company called Home Instead come in and stay with her if we wanted to go out. They usually would try to send the same person that she already had a relationship with so that was always very nice for her and for us too.
I think Colleen already explained about American Pickers. It’s on the History Channel-I believe on Wednesdays. I guess there is a lot of emphasis on re-purposing things so sometimes they find architectural pieces too-that people will use in decorating their home.
I think sometimes people will use old railroad cars or those containers that they use for shipping on boats for storage units. It’s a lot cheaper than building a barn or pole building and people will store their lawn tractors and other gear in there. We have a pole building and even though my husband doesn’t collect junk (too much) we have two boats in there, lawn tractors, a small bobcat and we keep the pickup truck and plow in there.
Your butterfinger cookies sound so good. I love butterfinger candies. Are they made with them?

    Hi Adele,
Wow-that was some day that you and Tillie had! It’s scary that the pain can take your breathe away. I’m glad that you both got home safely. You and Tillie both deserved some new Quacker after that day.
I don’t know if they line the dresses with something else. If I remember I will ask Kelly-Jenny’s SIL-as her daughter Mya was in the contest a couple of years ago. Her friend’s mother made Mya’s dress but Jenny can’t ask her as she will probably be making a dress for her own granddaughter that year. I’ll bet Jenny’s MIL will know someone else who makes them.
It is interesting how we have a different vocabulary for things depending on which area of the country that we are in. Have you ever heard of an egg cream? I used to date a guy from New York and he always talked about egg creams-which is something that we call a phosphate here-for a long time i had no idea what the heck he was talking about.
We just call the frogs-frogs. We have a pond which has frogs and toads and bullfrogs so I guess i just hear that stuff as background noise.
We are back into the 50’s here again too. We were supposed to get storms Monday but they passed us.
Sometimes I think Oklahoma gets the most storms. I have a friend whose sister lives there and I would worry about her all the time if it was me. That seems to be a state that catches lots of the bad storms.
We do have two beautiful flowering trees in our front yard right now and next month we will have lilacs and peonies and lily of the valley. I love this time of year when everything bursts back into bloom and the trees just begin to sprout little green buds. It makes me feel so hopeful and alive. I guess I just like the whole rebirth thing-that’s probably why I like the butterflies too. It makes me feel like we can all grow and change.

    Hi Colleen,
Aliza sounds so cute. They do get mad sometimes when they get stuck trying to turn over. lol You and I both have babysitting duties on Mondays.
It seems like those shows like American Pickers go on hiatus for a couple months and then come back with new episodes. I doubt they would ever run out of places to pick as there seems to be tons of places with junk laying around. I love the way the people are hesitant to sell something that they haven’t even seen in 20 years. I figure most of that stuff will be there when they die and unless they have a kid that likes that stuff too their poor children will be stuck trying to get rid of all that stuff.
Speaking of that I think Greg is going to hire a company to come in and rip up the basement floors and make sure everything is dried out. I think that’s a good idea as I am not much help with all that physical labor and he’s not as young as he used to be either. So if the insurance money will pay for that it’s a good idea. Of course we do have a thousand dollar deductible to pay first. But it’s worth it to hire somebody to take care of the rest of it. We just can’t do everything ourselves anymore.
If you saw the show where they went to pick the Clown Museum that was in Delavan, Wisconsin which is quite close to us. it’s the same town where we keep our boat in the summer. it’s been years since we took the kids to the museum and circus in Baraboo. It was a fun place to visit. I don’t know if they still do it but we used to be able to watch the circus train come through our town on their way back and forth from where they wintered in Florida. Lots of people would stop and watch the train go by with all the colorful old circus cars. It was kind of a throwback to older times. I wonder if they still do that.

    Hi Adele,
How did you and Tillie make out getting the brace yesterday? That could have been interesting. My MIL and I always used to stop and go out to lunch whenever i took her for doctor’s appointments or tests. It was something for her to look forward to afterwards.
I’m glad the birthday dinner went well. It must make Gary’s heart ache to think of what his brother is going through. I hope someday there will be more progress on figuring out how to stop Alzheimer’s.
I must ask-what are peepers? Crickets? If so i never heard them called that.
Greg used to be able to control his diabetes with exercise and diet but lately his numbers have been rising so he has to get back with the doctor and put another plan into action. Plus his tester thing is not working right so he may have to get a new one and I know you need a prescription for that. One thing is he is good about getting to the doctor if something is not right so I don’t have to nag him.
Part of the Milk Day prince and princess contest rules are the dresses and suits have to be made out of crepe paper. When we first moved here the costumes were very simple but now they are much more ornate and it takes a real seamstress to make them. I am attaching a couple of pictures from a few years ago so that you can see what I mean.

    Hi Ladies,
Check out Quacker on Zulily today. It kind of ticks me off because i just bought some of those items at a higher price on the Q. But there are some good bargains to be had-much better than the Q’s clearance prices. Remember Zulily does not take returns but we should all already know our Q size in Quacker so it shouldn’t be a problem to order. There are some good prices.
