Hi Adele,
I never heard what Marla said-that’s what i was asking you and I think Colleen had the same question. I looked online but could not find anything-so if people were upset with her i don’t know why. Get some rest from all your socializing. Take a nap between Quacker shows. lol
GailHi Barbara,
I’m so glad that Jerry and his Mom are getting this chance to be close and do things together. It sounds like they are both enjoying it immensely. Isn’t it funny how life can change on a dime?
I’m sorry to hear about Joey and Lisa. I agree with you-maybe it would be better if they both moved on. It seems like after her accident they have been stuck in a kind of limbo where no one is either totally happy or totally sad. Maybe they have been together so long that they just don’t know what else to do but they just continue to go through the motions because that is what is familiar.
I hope that you will not be too sad about Sarah and Joey moving out. They will be having a little one and I’m sure they feel that it is time to nest and have their own place to start their family in. This is just one of those life transitions like Colleen said-empty nest syndrome. I think we were all sad to see our birds fly away but in the end that is what is best for them. I guess I have the bird’s idea of raising children-give them the tools to fly and then nudge them out of the nest if need be. We raised our kids and tried to give them good values and the opportunity for an education so that they could support themselves and then it was time for them to go do it. I know that we will not be around forever so i want to feel secure in the knowledge that they can care for themselves. I want them to be in the situation where the only thing that they need from us is our love. Not that we wouldn’t help them out or let them move back here if they needed to but we hope that we have given them the wherewithal where that won’t be a necessity.
Greg and I enjoy our time together with no one else in the house where we can say and do what we want whenever we want. Sometimes it was tough when his MIL lived with us as she was always in the same room as us during the daylight hours so a lot of times we didn’t talk about things like we normally would. And by bedtime we would be too tired to discuss things. We might be a little different than everyone else though as we were married for 8 years before we had children so we had a lot of time where we got used to being just “us.” And we kind of enjoy that again after all these years of raising kids and working and taking care of parents. it’s an opportunity to reconnect and do more things together again.
I think when the baby comes Sarah will learn to appreciate all the little things that you will be able to share with her about raising kids and about babies. Maybe once she and Neal have their own home and family she will feel easier around you and not that it’s some sort of a competition. There’s plenty of love to go around for everybody. lol
Anyway, maybe you and Jerry can plan something fun to do after they move out-something that you can look forward too with anticipation to take your mind off the sadness.
I wish you the best of luck with your new life transition. One thing I know for sure-you will adore being a grandmother and you will be a good one too.
Hugs,
GailHi Livia,
I think that i might own that shirt but it is packed away right now so i can’t give you the item number. When i get out summer things I will see if i have it and pass on the item number. I think that was new a couple of years ago already so it may be gone form the Quacker inventory. I think it may have been a one and done item. In that case the only place that you might be able to find it is if someone is selling one on EBay. Another suggestion is looking on the Disney Store website for a Cinderella Tee. They have some adult shirts as I got a couple of Minnie Mouse ones before we went to Disneyworld last year. I just don’t think Quacker is carrying that shirt anymore. I have not seen it around in ages-I hope that you find something that you like instead.
GailHi Dianne,
I’m sure that you have a lot to contribute to the discussions. We talk about family but we also talk about decorating, recipes, books, trips TV and movies, restaurants etc. So I’m sure that you have just as much to contribute as anyone else. Most of all we just talk about our everyday lives and how we feel about things in general. And we can always talk about Quacker Factory and our love of sparkle. Lots of pretty things on the show today.
GailHi Colleen,
That is funny that you mentioned that about the vacuum and the baby. When Brent was a baby we had a dalmation who I swear never shed the black hair just the white so i would do a vacuum sweep daily to get up hair. Well I usually would do it when Brent was napping and he got so used to it that after awhile i had to vacuum to get him to nap. So I guess it is a good tool unless you don’t have anything to vacuum.
I’m glad that Owen likes Kevin. That makes things easier for everyone. I agree with you-if it bothers his Dad that’s his own fault for messing up his marriage. He needs to act like a mature adult and just be glad that his son is happy. You are right-sometimes a divorce can be toughest on the kids. But it seems like they all eventually adjust-thank goodness.
I am watching Quacker right now as I am answering e-mails. Angel is looking so pretty. I love all the sparkle and bright colors. I wish Pat wouldn’t always wear black. I never did get the obsession that many woman have with wearing black all the time. I’ll bet Pat would look pretty in pink or red. Wearing black all the time looks so funereal to me although I know it’s supposed to be chic.
Kendall’s appointment with the pediatric gastroenterologist is at 10:30 today-so I should hear from Jenny when they are all done.
I will be praying that you get good results from your tests on Monday. I hope that you get a nice clean bill of health. At our stage of life that is one of the best things that you can hear.
GailHi Adele,
I hope you are starting to get some nicer weather. It’s slowly starting to warm up now. The sun is shining today so that’s a good thing. Got my roots done and a haircut and style yesterday. That’s my big indulgence every six weeks-to me it’s better than going to a spa. My hairdresser is so sweet and over the years I have gotten to know many of the other women who are there when i am there. Not to be sacrilegious but going there is a relaxing kind of spiritual experience for me. I come away feeling refreshed and lighter in spirit. We usually have much to laugh and talk about- and you know that laughter is uplifting.
I didn’t hear Marla make any remarks about immigrants either-I must have missed that. I do feel bad for Tony that they got kicked off so early as he seems like such a gentleman and he often gets partners who leave early. Plus-I think he was the poor unfortunate that got Kate Gosslein-and he deserves a mirror ball just for that. Isn’t it weird that now a days people can be on TV and be famous for doing nothing-and then people admire these people too. Sometimes I worry what has happened to our values. By the way. Speaking of DWTS – didn’t Witney look absolutely fabulous in that blue dress dancing to Cinderella? She looked like she could have played the part of Cinderella in a movie. I thought she was gorgeous-of course she’s such a pretty girl anyway. I originally saw both her and Lindsey when they competed on So You Think You Can Dance.
That is funny that Aizen thinks all good things come from the kitchen of Uncle Bobby. Did you get your visit in with JJ? I hope so.
GailHi Colleen,
It’s a good thing that Melissa and Stephen aren’t in Texas yet as they are having lots of rain there right now. I hope it goes away before they get there. How long of a drive is it between where they are and Galveston? Do Steve’s parents ever come up to Missouri to visit them?
I think I have that A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes shirt. It may be packed away right now though. I remember having a discussion with Debbie about it as we both may have purchased it and I remember us talking about the lyrics coming from a Disney song and I think I even posted a video of the song. So that means the shirt was probably from at least a couple of years ago when we had the old site and could post video. I would bet that they don’t make that shirt anymore. I think it might have been one of those “one and done” items. Maybe she could stumble across one on Ebay. If i unpack the shirt this spring I will give you the item number.
Kendall and Lachlan didn’t watch Piper dance. I think they are not interested in her antics. Especially Lachlan. Piper was quite put out yesterday because she said last time they saw their cousins Lachlan and Finn would not play the game that she wanted. She was quite miffed that they wouldn’t play hide and seek with her and she kept telling me about it. I think she was surprised and shocked that she didn’t get her way for a change. lol Now from Lachlan’s point of view he probably doesn’t want to play with any girls when Finn is around since he is normally surrounded by girls with 4 sisters. He’d rather have his boy playtime all to himself.
How old is Aliza now? I just love when they first start laughing and smiling. I know what you mean about when they first start holding things. It’s like they don’t know how to let go and they wave the thing around and hit themselves in the head with it. How is it getting back up off the playmat with her? I know it’s not as easy for me to get up off the floor once I get down there. lol
Those braces are expensive. I know my ankle brace cost over a thousand dollars-I don’t remember the exact price as insurance covered most of it but it was a lot of money and then you add the expense of having to buy two different pairs of shoes in two different sizes to wear with it and it’s costly and insurance doesn’t help with the cost of the shoes.
Monday is my babysitting day too-except I only do it for a few hours between when Adam leaves for work and Jenny gets home.
It sounds like Kevin is a good Dad and stepdad so that’s a good thing. Does Owen like him?
Greg was watching the golf and the Cubs game too at the same time-he was trying to watch the Sox but they were rain delayed so they must have been home and the Cubs were out of town.
I kind of like the TSV so I will probably order a couple of colors. I think the zippers are cute but I do sit with my legs folded under me and sometimes the zippers do press into you then. I will have to remember that on the days that I wear them.
I never can remember. Can’t you still have water when you fast overnight. It seems like someone told me that once but now I can’t remember for sure. I always have to ask again. Maybe it depends on the kind of test.
Is today your day of rest because you are tired after babysitting? it does wear one out. Greg said he will probably be home early today since he was not feeling well this morning. He said he was sweating last night so I wonder if he has a fever? I hope he will feel better soon since the weather is supposed to be turning nice and I know he loves to be outside.
Gail
I hope Dianne will be back. She hasn’t been on for a few days.Hi Adele,
I hope that you had fun on your night out. It’s good to get out and about.
I’m glad that little by little you are whittling down the aides and the people coming and going. On top of everything else it is stressful to have people coming in and out of your house all day long. How did Gary do with making calls yesterday? Good I hope. He is probably happy to be up and doing again too. And everyone will be happy when you start cooking and baking again. lol
So far Greg has not come home with that Lamborghini-but he said he will not be home for dinner tonight since a client is in from New Jersey and they are going out to dinner. Hmmmmm-I wonder if if I should be suspicious that he’s going car shopping instead. lol Except I keep all the checkbooks and I know they are all here-unless you can put a car on a credit card? lol
Well Jenny is taking Kendall to Rockford to the pediatric gastroenterologist on Thursday morning. I hope that they can figure this out and that it isn’t anything serious. I did remind Jenny that Greg had ulcers when he was a child so maybe it’s something like that and maybe there is some sort of genetic factor.
Whoops-I lied. Greg just came in and told me that he doesn’t feel good this morning so he is going into work to do what he has to do and then will be back-so he isn’t going out to dinner with Jim after all. I hope he isn’t getting sick right when the weather is just getting better-as he has just been chomping at the bit to get outside and do stuff and looking forward to golf season too. Hopefully it’s just a little bug that will pass soon.
GailAdele,
The dairy allergy test came back negative. Her stomach hurt so bad Jenny had her in the ER last night. Strep test came back negative-sometimes little kids will get a bellyache from strep. Urinalysis showed a tiny bit of blood so that is being cultured. Jenny is taking her to a pediatric gastroenterologist next-not sure when. I am leaving to go over there in five minutes as Monday is my babysitting day. Hope she is feeling better.Poor thing.
