Hi Colleen,
Brent said the fires were about 4 miles from Wendy’s parents-so I guess they will be okay as long as it doesn’t spread in their direction.
Greg likes to start his own plants as he says it’s so expensive to buy them. This from the guy who buys drones and boats and guitars. lol I guess it’s all a matter of priorities. lol
I think he feels that he is getting better plants if he starts them himself. However he wants to do it is okay with me.
I missed Daphne’s butternut squash dish. I never quite know what to do with squash. Will you be picking asparagus soon? We still have a bit to wait-probably in May we will get some.
I don’t know who to call about the wrong programming on QVC plus. Maybe Dish would be best to try first. I did see it this week because I went in and changed the DVR setting. It’s like Dish has the Quacker show on eastern time instead of Central time. I wonder if this all got messed up when the time changed? You would think that someone would have noticed the mistake by now.
By the way-have you seen the new doctor yet? How did you like her? I hope you will finally find another good one.
GailHey Adele,
What’s a watch your veggies grow thing? You really did have a large crowd. I’ll bet you were exhausted by days end. Did you end up using plastic plates and risking the wrath of Martha? I had such a good time doing nothing that I may make this the new tradition. lol
How many more weeks until Gary gets rid of the sling and such? I’ll bet you’ll be glad when that time comes. Doesn’t it seem that time just flies now that we are older?
I did see DWTS-was not surprised that Geraldo went. Some people just do not seem able to feel the music at all.
GailHi Dianne,
Glad that you had fun on your day out. It’s always a good day when we are shopping and lunching with friends. It sounds like you were traveling in a beautiful area.
I am in the Midwest and I hope we aren’t going to be getting anymore snow. The fires I was talking about were in New Mexico-so that wouldn’t help them anyway. My son lives there and they had traveled to a different part of the state to visit his girlfriend’s parents and that’s where the fires were.
GailHi Colleen,
I’m glad your Mom moved to the area where it doesn’t flood now. At least she is safe from that when the heavy rains come. I hope that she can come back and stay longer in the fall.
Well Brent was heading back to Clovis today so they are away from the fires. He said it was windy and there was lots of smoke in the air. He said the fires were about 4 miles from Wendy’s parents. The schools were closed because of the fires so I guess they were not on spring break there.
Greg has started lots of plants indoors now. We have trays of them sitting in the picture window to get some sun. He won’t be able to plant until after the first week of May which is usually when we have our last frost. Plus the rototiller is at the shop being fixed right now and it’s too early to til anyway.
We are having rain and storms today and tomorrow and then it will cool down again. The weather is like a roller coaster right now-up and down and back up again.
GailHi Dianne,
I’m glad to hear that you are getting sunny weather. We are supposed to get thundershowers tonight and rain today and tomorrow. Your trip to the outlet mall sounds like fun. It’s always good to get out with friends whether we buy anything or not.
I see the TSV is denim shorts. I won’t be getting them either although I do like the QF Dream Jeanne shorts. They come right down to my knee and were a god send when we were in Florida last year. I like the elastic waist on them better than the zipper and button on the TSV.
I would leave my Easter stuff up too. It also can be considered spring decor with all the flowers and such. It’s a shame to take it down right away when it is so much work to put up.
Aren’t cat’s funny?! They definitely march to their own drummer. It is so typical that she would go back to bed once she got you up! I think they do that stuff purposely just to make sure that you know who is really the boss. lol
I’m not surprised that Geraldo was the first to go although I had forgotten about how bad Mischa Barton was. At least Geraldo had fun and a good attitude-Mischa just seemed like she was miserable.
You know for some reason I think I heard that Corrin was going to become a fit model or something like that. Maybe I’m imagining that but it seems like something like that is in the back of my mind. Maybe some of the other ladies can add to that.
GailHi Colleen,
I will say some prayers for your daughter’s x FIL. I will also pray for a cure for cancer. We have lost so many amazing people to this horrible disease.
I’m glad that your Easter turned out great too. Those sides and desserts from the Q are such a big help and everyone seems to really like them too. I think it’s a good idea to stay off the skates this year. Who has the party at the skating rink? We don’t have a rink close by but a couple of the bowling alleys put on really nice kids parties.
I’m glad that you had a good visit with your Mom. It would be nice if she would stay longer than a couple of days. But I also understand that people want to go back to their own home too where they feel the most comfortable. Does your Mom live in the home that you grew up in?
You guys hide a lot of eggs. We hide the eggs in the house because we put money and candy in the eggs so I wouldn’t want to take the chance of losing them outside or of them getting wet if it rained. Jenny said Lachlan already spent his Easter money on some new Shopkins-so that didn’t take long.
The kids are on spring break this week and I think Kendall is going on her shopping trip with her other grandma and her sisters Gabby and Enya and her cousin Maya today. They picked a good day as it is sunny and nice. Can’t wait to see what she gets-she does a good job of picking out her own stuff-she usually gets some cute things.
Greg got a message from Brent yesterday-they are in the mountains by Wendy’s parents and I guess there are wildfires going on around there. I hope if it gets too close they get plenty of time to evacuate. They were originally planning on going to San Antonio but changed plans as Wendy wanted to visit her parents. I’m trying to look on the news to see if they mention the fires but so far no luck. Hopefully that means that they have them under control.
GailHi Adele,
I had a feeling that the pizzaghiena would be a heavy dish in the pan. However, it looks delicious even if you need some “muscle” to get it in and out of the oven. I’m glad that your Easter turned out well. How many people did you end up having? Those bunny cupcakes were adorable. Were they decorated with Peeps bunnies?
There is an advantage to living in a small town where there are not many crowds. There is another place around here that has had an Easter brunch for years-actually they have a brunch every Sunday but it is a lot more expensive than the one we went to and a lot more crowded also. I think the place we went to was less crowded because it was new and also because it was in a large banquet room. As more people find out about it I’m sure it will get more crowded. They said they are planning another brunch for Mother’s Day. Anyway, I enjoyed this stress free/work free holiday so much that I would do it again next year. Perhaps we’ll start a new tradition.
We are having sun here today. I love seeing that.
So here’s the deal. We have a statue of a falcon, rubber snakes hanging all over the deck, scary looking predator eyeballs hung outdoors and that blankety blank blank cardinal is still out there banging on the window as I type. I wish we still had cats as they are probably the only thing that would keep the dam bird away now.
How did your minions like their socks? I’ll bet those are cute. I just found a pair of duck socks that i had to buy in honor of QF.
GailHi Everyone,
Hope you all had a nice Easter.
Dianne, that was good idea to go to your friends apartment and cook the meal there. I’ll bet she appreciated it very much.
I had copied the QF show on Sunday so I just flicked through it to see what they were selling. They do have a lot of pretty things on there.
Dental work for pets is expensive! Actually all the vet care has gotten really expensive. We used to have three dogs and taking them all in for heartworm testing was a shock to the pocketbook. I think if we ever had that many dogs at the same time again I would think about getting pet insurance.
We had a lovely relaxing Easter. We went for brunch at 12:30. This was the first year that this place had their brunch and it looks like they attracted a lot of people. It was nice because it was in a big banquet room so the tables weren’t all squished together. Gabby and Enya came too. They had an Easter bunny handing out eggs to the kids and they had a sundae bar where the kids could build their own sundaes. They made some interesting concoctions. After brunch we went home and Adam and Jenny dropped off Gabby and Enya at home and then came by so the kids could get their Easter baskets and hunt for their eggs. We had a relaxing afternoon watching movies and then when we got hungry again I took out the trays of sandwiches, fruits and veggies and opened the bags of chips and we all had a nice dinner. I personally vote for this method for next Easter. The little kids have no interest in a big sit down dinner and this was so easy and relaxing for me. I loved doing it!
GailHi All,
Here’s wishing everyone a Happy Easter! I think ours is going to be a wet one.
Adele, you will need a vacation after all this is over with all the cooking cleaning and baking. That pizzaghenia sounds spectacular! I wonder how much it weighs when all is said and done?
This year I have taken the path of the sloth for Easter. We are going to brunch around noon. Afterwards the kids will come here to hunt for their Easter eggs and to get their baskets which are actually gift bags. lol When everyone gets hungry again I ordered a tray of slider sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls, and bought a veggie tray and a fruit tray and bags of potato chips so that will be our supper with a DQ ice cream cake for dessert. So I am having a totally cooking free Easter. I may be able to get used to this! lol It will be different to just enjoy the day without having to worry about being in the kitchen and timing everything all out. Even when I plan a menu with a lot of things that can be made ahead you still are spending a lot of time in the kitchen-and the young grandkids could care less-they would just as soon have McDonalds. lol
Sending wishes to all for a happy and safe Easter.
