Hi Colleen,
You are right. It does affect Quacker sales if people keep missing that show because it is not right on the program guide. Also if I miss a show on the regular channel I can go to the web site and click on the previously on air category and at least see what was on the show. But they have nothing like that for QVC+ so if we miss a show we can’t even check what they presented.
Here’s another question. Did either of your grandparents have plastic covers on their couch. One of my grandmothers did. And boy in the days before AC was that stuff sticky in the summer. I think I liked visiting my mother’s parents better. Of course I knew them better because we had lived with them too. Also we were the only grandchildren on that side as my mother’s brother never married-so I think they probably spoiled us more. There were other cousins at my Dad’s parents but they were all quite a bit older than me and they were all boys-so I guess me and Susan got more attention there since we were the only granddaughters. But in general I think I liked to go to my Mom’s parents a little more. For some reason when I think about it-it seems like in most cases people are closer to their Mom’s parents than their Dad’s. Interesting.
I don’t know how I forgot that today was Good Friday and that Greg was off of work. lol He’s looking forward to the three day weekend.
You are right. As soon as we clean something out we seem to fill the space up again but I am at least trying to get rid of things that just sit around that we never use. We’ll see how successful I end up being.
GailHi Colleen,
I am not that crazy about Wal Mart’s deli either. I miss not having a store with a good deli. I’ve never ordered any trays from them and maybe that’s a good thing. I think all those sides from Saint Claire at the Q are pretty good. I have ordered some of their other cakes and liked them too so I bet your cake will be good.
I don’t get what’s going on with QVC plus either. The last few weeks I would turn on what i “thought” I had recorded just to see the Quacker show ending. I don’t know whether it’s Dish that has the schedule messed up or whether it is QVC changing it last minute. It is getting annoying though when you think you’re going to watch a Quacker show and you end up with a vacuum cleaner show. lol
Speaking of boots. Did your Mom have those rubber boots that you actually put on over your high heels. I remember my Mom having those and I always remember i found them sort of fascinating. That was before people just changed from boots to shoes or before they made boots with high heels that you just wore all day. I guess those boots would be an antique now if I still had them. lol
GailHi Adele,
Tell me again what is the pizzaghinia? I’m pretty sure i spelled that wrong but hopefully you get my drift.
I don’t know what is with the minimalist look. Where I like sparkle and shine Jenny dresses very conservative and classic. I wish now i had gone for the minimalist look as now my house is bursting at the seams and I am trying to pare down our possessions. I don’t know if I will ever be successful but I keep trying. lol
Those Saint Clair side dishes from the Q are pretty good. I have bought them a few times. They come in various sizes so you have to check that part out. Enjoy your baking.
GailHi Dianne,
How nice of the maintenance man to make sure that you got your package. Are there a lot of apartments in your building? I like that royal blue color and also the seafoam. Two of my favorite Quacker colors.
Dept. 56 was really big in the collectable market of the 90’s. They had all sorts of elaborate villages with all the little accessories. Very nice but on the pricier side if you did a lot of collecting. My friend used to live close to a store that was all collectibles and they would have a huge display of Dept. 56 for each season. It was really kind of spectacular. Little towns that you could imagine yourself walking through.
My sister lived in Portland many many years ago. I just remembered that! They were only out there for a couple of years though before moving back to the Midwest so i never made it out there. I do remember her saying it was kind of rainy there in general though-at least compared to here.
GailHi Colleen,
It’s funny I can’t remember if we got purses or not to go with our Easter outfits. I just know i always thought that I was really snazzy. It’s funny I don’t remember getting new Christmas outfits. Maybe because whatever we wore at Christmas was hidden under a big old winter coat.
There were a lot of pretty high scores for a first night of DWTS. The deaf model was pretty amazing. I can’t even imagine how you teach someone to dance who can’t even hear the music. Peta must be a good teacher.
We are lucky we have a really good bakery in town. The people who own it have lived here forever so I think it might be run by a second generation now and other family members have other businesses in town too. Of course the WalMart also has a bakery but i don’t think it’s as good as the regular bakery but it’s not bad. I used to bake a lot more so for years I made my own stuff but not so much anymore. I miss eating my own stuff but don’t miss the work of making it. lol
GailHi Adele,
No I Probably won’t get that teapot for Jenny. She is not a tea drinker-but it would make a cute decorative item-but i have given her some other owl things and she is kind of a minimalist and doesn’t like a like of decorative stuff around. I just got her a couple of cute light up pictures from Zulily.
How is Gary doing? I hope the legs are better. Do you still have a lot of home health workers coming and going? Are you gearing up for all the baking? You are really going to have a crowd.
GailOh Adele,
I did check Amazon and that teapot is darling. Jenny collects some owl things but i had not seen that before. On Amazon it did say it was from Fritz and Floyd so I wonder why it does not say that on the bottom? Anyway, that was a really cute find!
GailHi Colleen,
Did you watch DWTS last night? It looks like a good group.
If I remember correctly my MIL would frost the lamb and then put on coconut to make it look like curly lamb’s wool. I’m sure they must make those cakes in bakeries too for Easter. It seems like my Dad used to buy one when we were kids.
I had duck when Greg had the boar’s ribs. It was good and had some sort of lingonberry sauce. They have the best spicy peanut salad dressing there too.And it’s not really that spicy as I don’t like stuff really hot. (except my men!) lol-(Greg made me say that) ha ha.
The guy that died that put on the concert always had three other guitar players at the show too. It varied who they were from year to year but they were always really good guitarists. I always liked to get tickets as close as possible so Greg could see their hands when they played. That’s what’s nice about these small venues is that you can get tickets really close up-I think we were in the second row when we saw Straight No Chaser and The Ten Tenors.
I am looking forward to this brunch on Sunday too. It should be fun and they said there would be an Easter bunny and eggs for the kids. Plus it said there would be an ice cream Sunday bar so the kids will love that. Between that and the Easter candy they will be all sugared up that day. Piper will really be spinning in circles. I thought too about doing a ham and using it for sandwiches and then i decided to just grill hot dogs and hamburgers as Greg always likes to grill. I hope the weather is fairly decent.
I remember when we were kids and got all dressed up for church on Easter Sunday. Remember those hats with elastic that strangled you? And wearing little white gloves and patent leather shoes with socks with ruffles. I can still distinctly remember one of my dresses. Plus I was always so happy that lent was over so i could eat candy again as that was usually what I gave up for Lent. Boy-I had a lot of will power back then.
Well, I’m hoping that we won’t get any more snow but you just never know. At least at this time of year it will melt away fast.
GailHi Adele,
Did you remember that DWTS started up again last night. Monday’s are long 2 hours of the Voice and 2 hours of DWTS. I was glad to see Len back. It looks like a pretty good group of “stars” except for maybe Geraldo and poor little Doug Flutie-if i remember correctly i think he played in Chicago for a bit too.
It is nice to go as a family to see something during the Holidays. It just makes you feel so warm and cheerful and full of holiday spirit. I hope that you can resurrect your tradition in some form. Also it’s good for the young people to experience some live theater. Sometimes it will spark a lifelong love of the theater arts.
We are lucky to have some really nice venues around us to see concerts and plays so we don’t have to go into Chicago to see everything. There is a guy that has many connections in the music business that restored an old theater about an hour away from us. He has a lot of the old groups from our teenaged years-Herman’s Hermits, the Buckinghams, The Ides of March lots of the older groups. It’s a very charming old theater-the only problem is a very very small women’s bathroom-only two stalls if i remember correctly.
I couldn’t believe it this morning when I woke up and I always put on the Today Show and first thing I see is another terrorist attack. I just will never understand the mentality of killing just for the sake of killing. What is wrong with the world and these people?!! I will never understand.
I see a little bunny outside my window. I wonder if it is the Easter Bunny? Greg put a statue of a falcon out by the cardinal’s window and so far that is keeping him away. We’ll see how long it takes him to figure out it is fake-maybe never since he couldn’t figure out that the bird he saw in the window was his own reflection. lol
