Hi Colleen,
We were talking about all the female doctors that we have today and I also noticed I see a lot more male nurses. I see a lot especially at the orthopedic doctors office although sometimes they call themselves some kind of physical therapy something or other too. Speaking of nurses I have e-mailed Barbara twice and Debbie once with no response from either so I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens next. I just hate it when people drop out of sight and you wonder what has happened to them. I hope everyone is okay.
I am with Ron on this one. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got one more snow this year. I told Greg not to take the plow off the pickup just yet. One year we had a big snow mid April still. However, the groundhog did say that we would have an early spring.
We don’t have any flowers peaking through yet. We won’t have any until May. The last frost is usually right around the end of the first week of May so we have awhile to go yet. The pond is melted and it looks like all the fish made it through the winter. Some of the koi are getting enormous! I guess they are well fed.
I did get the new car. This one is for me as Greg has three. lol Adele had asked too so I wrote about it to her so you can read that instead of me writing it twice and boring everyone.
GailHi Adele,
As short as you are how do you get in and out of the Jeep? It sounds like Colleen has one too. I go for a regular car as the SUV’s are just too high for me. And of course we are sold on cars that have all wheel drive-we wouldn’t have any other kind anymore what with the snowy country roads. Greg knows I’ve always wanted a red car so we started looking for red or maybe blue cars but they just don’t have that many as I kind of wanted another Mercedes. I used to like the sportier cars but now I go for the nice smooth ride.It was time for another car as mine was 11 years old. I usually end up keeping a car for about 10 years so I get my monies worth-plus I put on very low miles. Anyway, I drove several cars but still liked the Mercedes the best so we ended up buying a used 2015 with less than 4000 miles-only it’s black! i never thought that I would buy either a white or a black car but this one was so nice and with such low miles I really couldn’t pass it by. Greg was hoping that i would fall in love with one of their SUV’s so we could take it on trips but i told him he should trade his in and get one himself as I don’t want to drive an SUV. It’s just that when you travel with your luggage and either a guitar or golf clubs it takes up a lot of space. I’ve seen him now looking at cars online so maybe he is actually thinking about getting rid of the Audi and getting a SUV. The man has three vehicles-if only he had four more he could drive a different one each day of the week. lol
I finally heard from Brent yesterday. He said he and the new girlfriend and her sons were going to San Antonio over Easter and they may be able to take a trip up here this summer.
Greg’s foot is okay. He retwisted it when we were car shopping as he’s like a kid in a candy store and was so busy looking that he missed a curb.
The new guy is supposed to come in this week to meet everyone-I hope this will all work out according to plan. I know Greg is already feeling less stressed with just the idea of getting more help in.
Some days it just feels good to sleep in late. Obviously your body needed that. Hey! we can eat breakfast anytime we want-even if it’s for dinner. lol
Lachlan already has plans for his Easter egg money. My Dad always taped money to the real eggs that they hid when we were kids so now I put money in the plastic eggs for the kids to find so we only hide them in the house so it doesn’t matter if it’s cold or not. I think Jenny takes them to an outdoor Easter Egg hunt at the library.
GailHi Dianne,
Oh yes-the Ducks are from the University. I remember now from watching the Disney movie. I knew there was some Duck sports team in Oregon. lol I feel the same way about watching football games. I’d much rather watch them at home on TV where it’s warm, you can actually see better, it’s not a mile walk to the bathroom and the snacks are free. lol Years ago one of the vendors that my husband worked with used to give us tickets to the Sox and Cubs games and they were really good seats. Very close up. But that was a very long time ago. Last time we went to a Cubs game with a group from a charity that we work with we had nose bleed seats and it was early in the season and we almost froze to death. Luckily we all had heavy sweatshirts to wear with the charity logo on it. Once a vendor gave us tickets to watch a University of Illinois game in a skybox at the United Center. That was pretty awesome and our kids loved it. There is free food and drink in the box and a private much fancier bathroom area for the people in the boxes.
I did not see Chris Pryme’s blooper on INKWD-what did she do? I seldom watch those programs anymore as I just do not need nor do I have space for any new kitchen stuff so I have taken myself out of the path of temptation. I love those Lenox dishes with the butterflies but I already have perfectly good dishes.
I hope that you had a good doctor’s appointment. We all joke that sometimes if it wasn’t for the doctor’s appointments we wouldn’t have a social life.
GailHi Colleen,
Greg made homemade potato chips a couple of times but I think he either baked them or made them in the microwave. I don’t remember because he made them when I was sick. I remember that they were good. That Ron went crazy with the frying-he even made fried pickles! Never had those-although I have seen them at fairs.
When I was younger all they had was male obstetricians and gynies so that’s what I used. Now I just use our female family doctor for all that stuff too. It’s one stop doctoring. lol
I’m glad that you are ready to have the procedure to fix the stomach problems again. You must be tired of being sick so much. I hope this one works for a long long time. It seems like the last one didn’t work for very long.
Greg and his golfing buddies got out and played nine holes yesterday and boy was he tired afterwards. He mixed a drink and sat down in his chair and the next thing i knew he was snoring away.
I think we are due for a rainy period of weather now too. As long as it doesn’t get really cold again I guess it will be okay. It seems like we will be getting the April showers in March. I do remember that the groundhog said that we would be having an early spring and thus far he is right.
GailHi Adele,
I hope that you got a good rest last night. It’s funny how doing normal things now exhausts me and it sounds like you are the same way. The up and down of a funeral Mass is a lot and I have a hard time kneeling now too. Last week after we car shopped I was exhausted by the end of the day from just walking around and looking.
I went on to Amazon and found some rubber snakes and these other shiny eyeball looking things that can be used to scare birds away so I am going to order some and see what happens. We will have a weirdly decorated back window and deck. lol
Actually there were two new butterfly shirts that are winging my way. Both short sleeves! Yahooey!
I looked at the presentation of the air fryer. It is interesting but it’s just another big thing to have to store. It would be good for someone like Brent who makes lots of prepared and fried foods. Maybe I’ll send him one for his birthday or Christmas some time.
Well right now I am not feeling the hour of lost sleep but we’ll see how I feel tonight. It would always mess the dogs up as they expect their meals by their body clocks and not by the time clock. It always takes them a couple of weeks to adjust. However, I do love the extra daylight.
GailHi Dianne,
How was the basketball game? What team was playing. I’m trying to think of what teams Oregon has. No pro baseball or football I don’t think. Pro hockey-is that the Ducks? I’m not sure about pro basketball either. Our other poster from Oregon was not really into sports so she never talked about area teams. We root for Chicago teams all the way down the line-Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls. The only bone of contention is, my husband being a south sider is a White Sox fan and I and the kids are Cubs fans.
I have been a Quacker since Jeanne’s first visit. I have a lot of those original blouses that I have cleaned out of the closet and am going to donate. I just never wear them anymore as I prefer the t-shirt material. Plus I always found the shirts difficult as when I had a family at home I was always in and out of dishwater so you had to stop and roll up the sleeves all the time to keep them from getting wet.
When my Mom used to cook for one she would make a regular portion of something and then portion it up and freeze what she did not eat. That way she had some frozen homemade meals around. When i used to go down and visit her i would make some things to freeze for her too. I am with Adele-I do love those lock and lock containers.
We don’t have a big family. Just my husband and two kids. My MIL also lived with us for 6 years before she passed away. Our son is 34 and our daughter is 33. Our son used to live around here but he now lives in New Mexico. Our daughter and her husband live in the same town as us and they have three kids 8, 5 and 3. Her husband also has two high school daughters from his first marriage but they live with their Mom and the other grandparents but still in the same town so he gets to see them a lot. We usually do Christmas and Easter here and our daughter has Thanksgiving at her house so it works out well.
GailHi Colleen,
I am lucky-Greg does eat pretty much anything and some of the things he doesn’t like I don’t like either so that makes things easy.
Isn’t it nice that Ethan is a reader? A kid will never be bored if they like to read. I hope the kids of today learn a love of reading with all the electronic gizmos at their disposal. I wonder if the book that he read about the holocaust was The Book Thief-that is a popular book with younger readers and is supposed to be good. I actually have it on my Nook to read sometimes. Sometimes those young adult books are very good. I still have the Harry Potter books on my to be read list. I’m glad to see so far that Kendall is a reader too. She actually asked for some of those Diary of a Wimpy Kid books for Christmas. Of course the others can’t be readers as they don’t know how yet. lol Whenever I pick up one of their books and start to read out loud Lachlan will come over and sit next to me to listen. He likes to ask questions all through the book which is fine when it is he and I but doesn’t go over really well in preschool when he keeps interrupting to ask questions. lol I think the kids go to story hour at the library and do the summer reading club there so they get lots of exposure to books. Some people are just readers and some not though. I’m glad I inherited the reading bug as you are never bored if you have a book or a Nook or Kindle-nowadays. Jenny is a reader but she just doesn’t have the time right now-Brent isn’t much of a reader but Kim was-I often passed my books on to her.
I wonder if Christine has an Air Fryer? I hope you get your Kitchen Aide mixer someday-you will love it and it will be one of the favorite things in your kitchen. They did have a good price when it was the TSV and they had such pretty colors.
I hope that you like the new doctor. Have you had a female doctor before? Our family doctor is a woman and I really like going to a woman, now that I am used to it I don’t think I would change back to a man if I had the choice. . For so many years the doctors were only men and you didn’t have a choice. I hope that you are feeling better today. Do you think you will have to have another procedure like you did before to help you stop from being sick all the time. I know you probably don’t want to go through that again but maybe it would be worth it not to feel sick so much of the time.
It’s time to spring forward again and now our body clocks will be all confused for the next week-but i love seeing more daylight.
GailHi Dianne,
I waffled between the blue check and the red check as I liked them both equally and ended up deferring to the blue as that has always sort of been “my” color. When I was little my Mom always dressed me in blue because of my blue eyes. I got so tired of it that for many years I stayed away from that color and then started wearing it again as an adult. I love Quacker’s royal blue and also their seafoam-two of my favorite colors of theirs. Whenever I wear any seafoam people comment on it. I was saying the other day that I love the combo of red, white and blue and wear it all summer.
We have tried pulling the shade and it seems to make the reflection more obvious. Greg has put a covering on the outside and then he just goes to another window. We had an owl statue out there but it blew over in a strong wind and broke. Someone a couple years ago suggested rubber snakes as birds don’t like snakes so I guess we will finally have to find some and hang them around the deck. I’ll b probably forget about them and go out there and scare myself. lol
GailHi Colleen,
Greg likes hot sauce too so that would not bother him if I put it in the soup. lol I’m sure you will think of something to make for Easter. I probably won’t make a final decision until next week. I do need to pick up the plastic eggs to fill and a little candy for the kids and then I need to get them each a little gift. I do that instead of a basket.
I like to wear the patriotic stuff all summer. I just like the combination of the red white and blue colors so I figure I’ll just go with it.
I’m glad that Ethan is doing well in the gifted classes. That’s so important that a kids mind is challenged. I know what you mean about the kids correcting you. Kendall is exactly like I was at her age and she takes things so literally-she doesn’t get it when I am kidding around about something and I can remember my parents and siblings telling me when I was at the same age-“Gail, don’t be so literal !” I guess the ability to understand humor must come a little later in life. It’s funny how kids remember everything. I said something yesterday about invisible friends and Lachlan said to me-“you had one of those-what did you do with him?” How he remembered that I had an invisible friend I don’t know-maybe Jenny told him as I don’t remember telling him. But little kids have such good memories.
I hope that you don’t get more rain. I know they have been talking about flooding in many areas. I’m just happy to see the sun even if I do have to listen to this stupid bird whack himself against the window.
I see the silver shows are on today. I have them copied and will flick through them to see if they have anything new or interesting.
By the way. I see that there is an upcoming TSV of an air fryer. Does anyone know anything about these. Do they fry things without oil? It sounds kind of interesting but i know nothing about them. I have read some reviews and people seem to like them but I would like to hear how people use them. I guess i will have to watch the presentation-although I really don’t need another kitchen gadget they have sort of piqued my interest.
