Hi Adele,
I’m glad to hear that the nurse sees that leg swelling and weeping all the time so at least you know it is something kind of common. Otherwise, if it was me I would be getting all freaked out about it. I hope the time goes quickly so Gary can lay in bed again. It’s not just the surgery it’s the recuperation too that we have to think about. Try to take care of yourself too. I know it’s hard when you’re caring for someone else. I felt so sorry for Greg when I had mono a few years back and literally couldn’t lift a finger if I tried. He went to work and had to come home and cook and clean and do laundry because about all could do was get myself out of bed and into the shower. I know what you mean about Gary not retiring fully just to stay out of your hair. Even when Greg does retire he won’t be underfoot all the time as he loves working in the yard and golfing and fishing so he has lots of things that he likes to do. Plus he has taken up guitar making in the winter months and now has his woodshop in the basement. The only bad part about that is the dust it makes all over down there-but I am not going to worry about that since no one lives down there anymore. I hope that your cold goes away so that you can see JJ and Aizen soon. The sun is shining and the bird isn’t pounding (whoops I spoke too soon-there he is). Anyway, we will lose an hour of sleep but gain an hour of daylight-so that’s a good thing.
GailHi Dianne,
Wow! You have had some wild weather. Hurricane force winds can do a lot of damage. I hope that you are feeling better today with the new medicine. I just ordered a Denim and company gingham checked tshirt in blue. For our casual lifestyle D and Co. and Quacker work best.
Gailin reply to: What Books Are You Reading and Recommending Now? #34865I read My Secret Mother by Robert Bannon which was basically an adopted child’s letter to his birth mother. Being an adoptive mother these kinds of books always interest me. Then I read When The Balls Drop by Brad Garrett. The first part where he talked about getting started in his career and some of the people he met along the way was interesting. The second part where he talks about women and marriage and such was not that interesting to me.
I then read 11/22/63 by Stephen King which is about a guy who travels back in time to stop the JFK assassination. Another great book by Stephen King-although for me it slowed a little bit in the middle section. Then I read Pet Friendly by Sue Pethick which was a very cute and sweet mystery/romance.Hi Adele,
When you get a chance reread your posting to Dianne. You wrote the word sin twice instead of sun and it really paints a different picture than what you intended. You know my crazy mind is trying to imagine what kind of sin that you are referring to so I am just sitting here chuckling outloud to myself. Thanks for the laugh!
GailHi Adele,
That is a good plumber. I would keep him too. He is worth the extra money.
Greg loves pot roast. I never thought of putting tomatoes in with it.
I hope Gary will feel better soon. Now with the diuretics he will have to go to the bathroom more so you will have to help with that more. It’s a vicious circle. I know what you mean about not being a nurse. I never liked nursing as I never liked all the blood and stuff except somehow I was the one that always got the nursing duties but I learned that i could do stuff that i never thought that I could. My Mom had her bladder removed and I even learned how to attach that bag that collected urine. Can’t think of the proper name of it right now. But as women we just do what we have to do and sometimes we surprise ourselves.
I hope you don’t get a bad cold. I’m sure the stress and lack of sleep don’t help. I hope that you have some new Quacker winging your way to brighten your day.
Hang in there!
Hugs,
GailHi Dianne,
I did see the Quacker shows yesterday and of course I had to have the butterfly top. I am known as the butterfly person on here.
It’s funny that you mentioned not having cardinals. I have one that I would gladly box up and ship to you. We have had a male cardinal that comes and bangs against our back picture window for three or four years now. He personifies the term “bird brain.” They do that because they see their reflection and think it is a rival male in their territory. However, this one has been doing the same thing for four years and yet that other male just does not go away because it’s his reflection. He is nothing if not persistent but I can’t believe that he isn’t brain damaged after all this time. He is banging against the window as I write this. So cardinals may be pretty but they are certainly not smart.
I hope that you are not catching cold and that you feel better today.
GailHi Colleen,
I kind of thought that Lachlan could have gone to school this year too but I am not his parents so I stayed out of it. He has a very inquisitive mind so I think he’ll do well in school-except I think he might be the kind of kid who might question the rules if they don’t make sense to him. We’ll see. Now when Piper goes she will just not stop talking. Hmmmm-now that I think of it that’s what i always got corrected for in school too-maybe the apple does not fall far from Gigi’s tree. lol
I must say-even though I appreciate a good vacuum cleaner Greg knows that if I need a new one I would want to choose it myself. If he gave me one for a gift he might be eating a big portion of potato soup. Of course, he likes potato soup so that would not work as a sign of displeasure in his case.
I have Easter here but I am still thinking about what I will be serving this year. Probably ham-and after that I am still thinking about what we will have.
The weather has been so beautiful here this week. and this weekend we will spring ahead. Yeah!
GailHi Adele,
What are you doing today? A striptease for the electrician? lol You are funny. Did you see my other posting about the plumbers butt? Hope Gary has a good doctor’s visit today.
GailHi Colleen,
What is a Rural Kind store? Is that like a Farm and Fleet or a Tractor Supply? I’ll bet they don’t have tractor Supply’s by Adele. They probably don’t have much use for horse and cow ointments etc. lol
Yes, Lachlan is still in preschool. He was old enough for kindergarten but Jenny kept him back as she didn’t think he was mature enough.
They mail the jewelry to me as it takes a while to make it plus it has to be approved by the owner before they send it out and he is often gone to Europe on buying trips. I have several pieces from that store and I have had some pieces made up for me. I love having one of a kind pieces as they are different and have a special meaning for me. I have two eternity bands from there. One I saw and Greg surprised me with it and the other I had made up for an anniversary.
I do feel bad for Christine also. Her husband was a bad guy to turn her kids against her. She is lucky that she got away from him though before he injured her or worse. How can some people be so evil to those that they are supposed to love. I know it is hard for her but she seems so resiliant-like a true Quacker-she has made the best of a bad situation. Now I hope she can get some relief from that darn bone spur that has been plaguing her for so long.
It’s another beautiful day even though the cardinal is banging. Crazy bird! He’s worse than ever this year!
