(photo from her 5th birthday)

Glen and I are so excited that our favorite girl has turned 10, we decided to throw her a small birthday party! The party will be this Sunday, so please don’t tell her!  We invited her “cousins” & their parents—our friends who watch Lucy when we go on vacation, and a few additional friends & family.

To be sure all of our guests enjoy themselves, I made a few recipes for the party & I wanted to share them with you.

First I wanted to send the four legged babies home with some homemade dog biscuits. Thank you Rachel Ray Magazine for this great recipe.

Pup Bars

Preheat the oven to 350 degree. Line a 9×13” pan with parchment & spray with cooking spray.  Leave some parchment over the edge so you can use it as a lift. (I doubled the batch, so I used a larger pan).

Ingredients:

1 2/3 cup quick cooking rolled oats

1 cup each of dried cranberries & blueberries (do not use raisins)

1/3 cup flour.

Directions:

In a small bowl whisk together ½ cup honey, 1 tbsp water & 1 cup of peanut butter.

Mix the peanut butter mixture into the dry ingredients & press into the prepared pan.

Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool in pan then remove using paper & cut into bars.

Store airtight in fridge for up to 1 week or freeze up to 1 month.

I decided in addition to the other little gifts I will give the attendees, I would also wrap up these yummy bars for the pups to take home!

To be fair to the two legged guests at her party, I decided to also make a salty Peanut “Puppy Chow”.

Thank you Real Simple for this great recipe!!

Ingredients- 1 1.2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, ½ cup peanut butter, 1 tbsp unsalted butter, 8 cups rice & corn cereals, mixed, 1 cup salted roasted peanuts, ½ cup confectioners sugar.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter & butter in the microwave.  Use 30 second intervals until everything is melted & smooth.  Add the cereals to the bowl and fold in the chocolate until coated.

Spread the mixture on the lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the peanuts and let cool completely. Break apart.

Dust with the powdered sugar & toss until coated.

Refrigerate until set.  Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.  Serve & enjoy!!!

Hope you have enjoyed these recipes!! We are very excited to have everyone to our home to celebrate our girl!
