Did you know Jeanne wrote in her best-selling book, Quacker Factory Christmas, that you should ‘Make EVERY day Christmas Day!’ and ‘Always Believe in the Magic?’
Her philosophy definitely lives on at The Quacker Factory, and we ‘BELIEVE’ in the Magic of Christmas and love bringing that joy and sparkle to everything we do! So, I thought I’d share some tips we learned from Jeanne to ‘Keep the Spirit of Christmas’ going!
First… START EARLY! We never stop thinking about Christmas – in fact, our dynamic ‘Dream Team’ is already at work creating designs for NEXT Christmas!
Next, THROW A COOKIE EXCHANGE PARTY! Jeanne loved this type of party. That’s why we started this annual tradition on QVC. She would even send out a ‘save the date’ invitation in July! So have your OWN party with all your best girlfriends! The key is asking everyone to bake a dozen cookies for each person coming and have them tell you what type of cookie they are each making to get the most variety! Speaking of cookies, Diane, our lovely artist from ‘Team Quacker,’ just made a batch of Jeanne’s famous ‘Snickerdoodle Cookies’ and decorated them with snowmen. Jeanne loved making these when Tim and Lee were young!
And…who doesn’t love Christmas tunes to get you in the spirit? CREATE A CAROLING PARTY! This tradition was a Bice family favorite. Jeanne and her friends would stroll through the neighborhood singing Christmas carols and stop at every house for refreshments! What fun!
“THINKNG THRIFTY!” When budgets were a little tight, Jeanne used to make gift baskets centered around a theme. She’d fill them with simple, inexpensive items that were meaningful or helpful to the receiver! So get creative this year and use your imagination!
Did you know Jeanne put up almost 20 trees every Christmas? Once she coined the ‘UNEXPECTED TREE.’ The story goes that one year she bought a sparkly ‘flocked’ tree but realized quickly that it seemed impossible to decorate! All the decorations got lost in that fluffy snow! So…Lee did the “unexpected” and started pulling wooden signs right off the walls and stuck them all over the tree! Hence the tradition began of hanging signs on trees!
How will you ‘make EVERY day Christmas Day’?

Jeanne did the most creatvie trees I’d ever seen. I so always enjoyed watching her monthly video’s where she’d show her home with all her trees and fun things. She sure had an eye for color and never seemed scared to use it everywhere with complete abandon, her home was delightful. So that’s how the signs came to be on the tree, great story, love the look of the sign’s too. I doubt I’ve seen anyone as good with mixing pattern like Jeanne either, she sure was good at so many whimsical things one would never think of, I always loved how her brain worked to create so many magical design’s.
I have one sign a Quacker friend sent me and I read it often and give it my best….”Well Behaved Women have No Fun…so I try to misbehave every now and then but you know, I’m not so good at it as I wish to be, so maybe a cookie exchange is in my future! I’d be misbehaving if I sang, it would be like Froggy Gone A’Courtin’ I’m sure!
Quack Quack…enjoy the day and all it brings…
