I was so excited to receive an invitation to FFANY Shoes on Sale!! Now as you may know I have been at QVC for over 20 years, and this year—I got to go to the BALL!! Unfortunately I did not find glass slippers in my size! (wink, wink)
In case you are not aware, every year for the last 20 years QVC has partnered with the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) to raise money & awareness for breast cancer research. QVC donates the air time & the FFANY members donate shoes which QVC sells at half the retail value during the event Shoes on Sale, which aired last night October 10, 2013.
The party was held on October 1 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. When I arrive at the hotel, I was blown away by the elegant beauty of the hotel. I felt like I had been transported back to the 1940’s!! The cocktail hour was a wonderful place to see & chat with old friends, and of course to meet new ones. Here is a photo of Jane Treacy and me in front of the shoe wall. Please excuse the quality of the photos, I only had my cell phone to take these.
After cocktail hour it was time for dinner and the program. When I arrived at my table I was so excited to see my friends Louis Dell’Olio & his lovely wife Jac. I just wish I had taken a photo of us together. We laughed and talked through dinner. Here is a photo of the centerpiece on all of the tables. It was so sunning in person!!
As the program began—they showed videotaped stories from breast cancer survivors and the history of the partnership between FFANY & QVC. There were many guest speakers, including Julianne Hough who is this year’s ambassador. Here is a photo of the two of us. In case you do not know who she is—she is a dancer, singer, actress and now a shoe designer. She was very sweet!
The entire event was so moving, I can only hope that we soon find a cure for this horrible disease. As the event was coming to a close, I was making my way out of the ballroom when I saw my two girlfriends Nancy Hornback & Leah Williams, don’t they look stunning!!
I had a wonderful evening, and many folks grabbed some AMAZING deals in the Shoe Salon. I strolled through the shoes, but my size is never available. I did manage to grab the to-go box of goodies for dessert. YUM!!!!
This evening was full of shoes, friends, fun and more money donated for research. A QUACK TASTIC evening overall! If you haven’t gotten your mammogram—make an appointment today. PLEASE GET CHECKED!
